01/21/2024 Crew Recap

Well holy shit all.

We finally fucking did it! We hit 75,000 signatures! That's crazy! The next goal line is literally twice that, and I know it seems daunting but don't give up, the more we get the more we show how much people want OFMD picked back up! We don't have to make that goal to show how passionate we are, we already have!

so we all know that carmy would usually hate it when people bug him while he's in the zone and he's cooking, right? okay but picture this. you're over at his place. he's making pasta sauce and he just looks so peaceful and before you even know what you're doing you walk over and wrap your arms from behind him and you kinda just rest your head against him. he's taken aback at first. yes you two started dating but... physical touch? he kinda tenses up a little.

"is this okay?' you ask cautiously.

a beat. "yeah... it's great," he says with a little smile, turning back to look at you. now he can't cook at home without you hugging him :,)

you once tried to convince him to let you sit on his head and tug on his hair while he was cooking

"like the rat in ratatouille!" you had said excitedly. he looked lost. "you know... the movie? ratatouille? isn't that... like... required reading for chefs?"

apparently he had never even seen it which made you shed a tear for his childhood

of course you had made him watch it with you that very night. he mumbled something about health codes and about how anton ego's assholery reminded him of his old boss but he thought the movie was pretty cute. a rat that could cook? he would have to remember to text richie later that he had found a biopic that was based on his life story

"soooo?" you said expectantly when the credits started rolling. again, he looked lost. "will you let me be the rat?" you say with feigned seriousness.

"absolutely not."

he drinks his coffee black. when i say black i mean black black. only occasionally does he get it with two sugars if he really feels like it. when he tried that shaken oatmilk espresso brown sugar or something (he could never remember the name) that you always get from starbucks, the sweetness of it had him shocked

"honey, this is like... 5% coffee and 95% milk ಠ_ಠ"

you two have made it a tradition where you'll go over to his place and dust off one of his dozens of cookbooks, flip to a random page, and make what's on it. sometimes it comes out absolutely awful, but you've found some real gems, too. you two's favorite ravioli recipe had come from a weathered cookbook that was at the bottom of one of his piles

farmers market dates are a given

he likes to knock on coconuts to see if they’re “ready” (michael taught him this)

on the rare occasion he drinks, he goes for white wine. the drier, the better.

i know i said he's not big into physical touch, but i'd like to think that if he drank enough of that aforementioned wine, he would become super touchy. drunk carmy (and sleepy carmy) just would not be able to keeps his hands off you (and it's kinda hot)

i feel like this man either has a shit ton of aprons at home or he has only one that he has used to absolute death; no in between

his favorite candy is any flavor salt water taffy (except banana) or super dark chocolate (i’m talking 70% cacao content or more) with carmel inside

i feel like his receiving love language would be words of affirmation. he loves being assured, even if he doesn't quite believe you. he's a sucker for a good old-fashioned "i'm proud of you". in terms of giving, his love language is definitely acts of service. you have some dry cleaning ready? no problem he'll pick it up for you on the way back from work. you have a stomachache? don't worry, his mom has a recipe for that and he'll whip it right up for you. had a bad day at work? he's already on his way to get you your favorite thai food, even if it's out of his way. this man lives to please you :,)

Do you ever struggle with feelings of discouragement or inadequacy if your fics don’t do as well as you had hoped?

I’m struggling with that myself. I try not to get so hung up on it but it’s very hard, especially when something I’m so proud of doesn’t do as well as my other works.

I don’t even feel motivated to write bc I don’t wanna set myself up for disappointment

Discouragement, sure, I think that's natural sometimes. But I really don't feel like stats have anything to do with adequacy. Baring my soul, yuck. But fuck it we ball. Sorry it's a long answer.

I don't think I've ever answered a serious ask aside from the time i created Dr. rock which hardly counts but I've seen a lot of people struggling with this lately and hope this might be idk comforting to a person or two without leading to debate/discourse.

You mentioned something you're proud of isn't doing as well as your other works, and I can see how that would be disappointing. For laughs, I'll compare 2 of mine. These fics are impossible to compare (as are most, I think) but I def understand the urge to measure yourself against what you see as the potential. Aches: <1k popular trope I banged out in no time, wasn't sure about it, literally thought "people don't have to like it" before I hit post. >4 notes per word. Left in Lincoln: >22k posted so far, challenging, writing it for months. Has possibly driven me crazy bc I had this passing thought the other day and not about TLOU. (I didn't feel like re-reading it all): "I should just rewatch the movie. . .wait." 🤡 The whole Lincoln series combined has fewer notes than Aches lmao. But it's far more rewarding in getting to see it come to life, quality of engagement, and stretching myself 😏. It's not for everyone, for various reasons. Surely would have better stats without the twist I went with. But at what cost??

Often, if people don't read or like something, it's a reflection of their own interests, limitations, and assumptions. And the right "fit."

I don't rly read much in general, but specifically, I rarely read long stuff (if I do I prob scan a lot tbh). I normally only want, if any, just enough plot/premise to build sexual tension. I don't read fluff or angst. I don't have the attention span / commitment to get invested in original characters. I tend to avoid stuff similar to what I'm working on. I make assumptions - If there's no word count, maybe it's too long. I know a lot of the fics I skip for these reasons must be fantastic. Assumptions I experience - I've seen very popular fics in the wild that strike me as dark, creepy, or pervy but aren't tagged that way. So some things that are tagged dark, etc., including plenty of mine, might not be dark in the way people assume based on their own ideas, or based on what others do tag. Also some people think I only write dark when sometimes it's just horny (see master list).

I've sometimes found myself thinking "It sucks more people don't read this bc i bet they would enjoy it" (not just my own fics). It might sound egotistical but I think it's often true.

Of course I want engagement because that means more people reading something which can mean more interaction, discussion, learning what you liked, what you think, etc. that's what I love.

But notes aren't rly near the top of what I care about, even though it does feel great to get them and I truly appreciate every single one.

Night walks doesn't get nearly as many notes as some of my other stuff, especially these days, but it's fun to write and I like to feed his feral fans who only get more into him with time. Same with raider: among those who do read and engage, I sense rising enthusiasm, thirst, and rate of falling in love with him (my bad). That's all worth more than 1000 likes to me. I have a good time writing these guys, so I write them more than other ones that get way more notes 🤷. I'm not saying notes don't matter at all, I know they affect exposure and engagement. But if just did what gets notes, I don't think I'd have such high quality engagement bc I'd just bang out more stuff with the most popular tropes instead of our fave Joels and those destined to become our faves bc they offer something special.

My outlook was the same before I had so many followers btw. Rock Bottom (22k) was what I felt like writing, still more ambitious than anything I've done in the Halloween fandom. I was disappointed it got way less attention than my one shots, but I know it's a banger, just certainly not for everyone lol.

I'm sorry for what you're experiencing and feeling, but I think it's very common and hope you can reframe it to not feel inadequate. I especially hope it doesn't discourage you from writing. ❤️

Oh yes. Data loss is one of my least favorite things. Losing some fanfic files on the family computer as a kid cemented that aversion into me. And yet I have lost data many times since then, most notably in 2010 when my laptop Archimedes died out of nowhere, which killed most of my music compositions from one of my most important periods.

I'm quite paranoid about data loss. These days I will typically make a backup every three or four months (or less if I have done a lot of writing or otherwise feel the need to back something up sooner), and I have more than one independent backup device.

I actually got a warning just this morning on my main computer about an impending hard drive failure, so I did a full backup of that one and ordered a replacement drive.

2. Out of everything you’ve ever written, what’s your favorite sentence?

That's a deliciously provocative question, and there are so many different ways I could tackle it.

It would very likely be a fiction sentence, as I both care about my fiction more and put more effort into editing and refining it. But I should at least mention that I've done some nonfiction sentences that I'm really proud of. I love it when I can elegantly bring a thesis together, or synthesize a truly fascinating new idea, or perfectly summarize a thing. In all cases, my great nonfiction sentences are masterpieces of insightfulness and clarity. Clarity and insightfulness are the common factors, the reason you would spend your precious time reading my often-verbose, self-indulgent ramblings.

I don't have any such sentences in mind off the top of my head, sadly, or I would happily share one. I suppose I can leave it to anyone who has been a longtime reader of my journal to volunteer any favorites they can think of.

To get on with the fiction:

I put a lot of thought into first sentences: the first sentence in an entire story; the first sentence in a chapter or section; the first sentence introducing a new character; their first sentence of dialogue. When it makes sense to do so, and when I have the opportunity, I also put a lot of thought into last sentences.

There are the "high art" sentences, the ones that attempt some feat of technical prowess or showcase my skills or artistry. These tend to be longer and/or highly stylistic.

There are the "punchy" sentences: short sentences that comprise their own paragraph to underscore a point, ideally to resounding effect.

There are sentences that I am personally biased toward for external reasons, such as ones involving Silence doing Silence stuff.

There are sentences that have deep, personal resonance for whatever reason.

There are the sentences that depart from literality and become in some way transcendental, often assuming an omniscient voice and openly musing in the company of the reader.

There are sentences that don't look like much on their own but become very powerful in context. (Not unlike the aforementioned "punchy" sentences.)

And of course there are miscellaneous sentences that I just like for whatever reason.

(It's also worth noting that, with the way I write, often the great stuff is only resolvable down to the paragraph level, not the level of individual sentences. And some of it is only resolvable down to the scene level, with no great sentences per se even if the scene itself is very strong.)

Different sentences can excel in different ways, each in turn making a compelling case to be my "favorite." I can like sentences because of some aspect of their structure—their rhythm, for instance, or their alliteration or some other literary quality, or their feel on the tongue or in the eye. Or I can like sentences because of their imagery, the contents they convey, irrespective of their structure. Or I can like them because of their meta function, their role in advancing or pulling together the story or important thoughts therein. And so on. I don't consider these various properties comparable, which makes it very difficult to conceive of one supreme sentence above all others.

Even if that weren't so, the way my memory works also makes it virtually impossible for me to select a favorite without going back and rereading all the fiction I've ever written (lol) or whatever subset thereof I think most likely to produce leading candidates for my favorite.

In lieu of this I am quite limited in what my memory is able to recall at the moment on its own. The sentence that has stuck with me the most in recent months is not especially remarkable on its own; it is one of those "Silence doing Silence stuff" sentences and it really loses a lot of its punch without the context of its paragraph and wider scene, and since it is also something of a spoiler I don't think I will post it here, but it's basically an affirmation of her power, which I love.

Since writing the previous paragraph I spent over an hour looking for a good sentence in order to give you something approaching a satisfying answer, but alack my brain was not plugged into creative writing mode at all today and so I have found this a most unapproachable, inapprehensible exercise tonight. It's funny how, some days, it's like the text itself changes. There are times when I absolutely love this stuff, and times when I just don't connect with it at all, and sadly today is one of the latter.

But perhaps if you could refine the question (and catch me on a better day)? I often find that this helps to unlock my mind, if the derivative question has some new substance which helps me to conceive of the query differently.

Anyway! I've written quite a few sentences in my life. Maybe, given my complete uselessness, it would be better to ask the people who have read some of them what they think. I'd be curious to know, myself.

I can tell you one of the leading candidates for my favorite sentences that I haven't written, however. It's from Dickens:

And Scrooge said often afterwards, that of all the blithe sounds he had ever heard, those were the blithest in his ears.

For context, the preceding sentence is:

He looked so irresistibly pleasant, in a word, that three or four good-humoured fellows said, "Good morning, sir! A merry Christmas to you!"

And I suppose that says a lot about me.

Let’s talk about beginnings today :)

How do you feel about writing the first chapters of your WIP? Do you usually know where to start your story, or is this a work in process that changes as you get farther in? Or do you skip the beginning entirely and start at a certain scene, then make your way backwards?

On that note, what kind of beginnings do you like to write? Ones with a lot of background info, ones that show some of life before, or do you like to jump right into the action?

I usually know where to start it, yeah. That's not to say it couldn't change the further I get into a wip. but my recent history is completely redoing endings, not beginnings.

Wait. That's not true. I rewrote TPOT's beginning entirely. So I'm a liar. 😅 And if you'll indulge a ramble...

...I'm going to babble about why it was important to me to redo TPOT's opening. First, the ancient-history Whumptober version started with Bree's arrest. Fun, but not right for a story called The Prince of Thieves. Then, the Tumblr/ao3 version started with Jamie's big flashback to when he got kicked out of the Cooper household. Important for later plot stuff, but.........

But. Kate. Girlfriend. Kate. Kate. You made Will the main character, told everyone he was a thief, AND THEN WROTE 129K WORDS WHERE HE NEVER FUCKING STEALS ANYTHING.

(except our hearts.)

what the ACTUAL fuck.

New beginning: de-centre Jamie. Position Will as the protag. Give him an opportunity to be his pre-prison self - silly, sweet, goofy, mouthy, and yes, a fucking criminal. Oh, and a flirt, too, because why the hell not?! Establish his terrible lying skills and his immaturity. Showcase his place in the IA family and his desire to make them proud. Show how caring and loving he is, even when he's being an asshole. Show him happy.

Show him happy, so that it hurts so much more when it all goes wrong.

What kind of beginnings do you like to write? Ones with a lot of background info, ones that show some of life before, or do you like to jump right into the action?

Uh, I don't know. Let's take stock.

TPOT - Will does some IA stuff and agrees to go to Jamie's meeting. Largely establishing his character. Definitely belongs in the 'Life before' category.

TQOL - Bree witnesses Will's flogging. Introduces us to the MCs and the two antagonists, Baden and Curt. (warning: mini ramble.) It was actually so important to me that TQOL started here. And not just because I love a good flogging. Well, okay, that too. But I knew Bree couldn't just feel compelled to help Will based on nothing, or just on pure pity. Like, she's a rich married woman. Literally why on earth should she care about him? No reason, that's why. But flog him. Have his blood on Baden's face. Have her faint and steal away Gysborne's attention that could have been given to Will immediately if not for her. And now we're throwing sympathy, curiosity, and guilt into the mix, and that becomes to fertile ground for her to try to see him again. Also in the 'Life before’ category.

angsty heist wip - [X] thinks about the secret they're keeping from everyone and then immediately gets kidnapped. Introduces the conflict, tension, and 2/? antagonists. I ain't gonna say no more. I think this falls more into the 'Jump into the action’ category with a smidgeon of ‘Life before.’

Obey me brothers playing Stardew Vally!

Another day another fanfic, as someone with 500 hours in stardew I love this game and would love to imagine the om bros playing it with you! Part 2 up now

He would prefer just playing with you and him, he doesn't need to deal with his brothers outside of reality.

Spends his time either in the mines or fishing because it's relaxing.

Will slay monsters for you in the mines, and protect you.

Gets mad if he ever dies, it hurts his pride.

Always got mad at Levi for yelling at his game too loud, well...now he gets it even if he never will admit it.

Takes good care of his dog, names it Cerberus and never lets his water bowel go empty.

"Don't worry my dear, these pathetic slimes will not harm a hair on your head."

Will be ALL OVER THE PLACE in the game, boy has energy for years

Will do any and every aspect of stardew that even remotely made money.

make sure your money is separate or he will spend it all!

Even with all his money making activities he still somehow find a way to be glued to you.

Excitedly tells you how much he made from the shipping bin (please tell him he did a good job)

Never sells straight to the store will always put everything in a shipping bin to see all the cash rack up at the end of the day.

Will definitely get married with you in game and have kids <3

"AHAHAHA The great mammon made 30,000 today, aren't cha proud of me?"

Levi probably has a ungodly amount of hours in this game and know every single thing about it, at this point he's just seeing how fast he can finish everything.

Won't spoil the game for you but will give you hints to the right direction (green is lucky bet on that color).

Good at every aspect of the game, mining? fishing? foraging? farming? ranching? he's got it all.

You honestly don't even need to try in this game he will spoil you and shower you in whatever you wanted.

His favorite character is Abigail, purple haired gamer girl yes please, whom he always romanced before meeting you.

When you get jealous and upset after learning that, he shyly presents the wedding ring he grinded the mines for (prismatic shards are hard to come by!).

"Um... here's a wedding ring. Nononono I'm not proposing this is to get the last stardrop in the game I swear! (blushes madly behind the screen glad you couldn't see him)"

You know this man will be obsessed with his pet cat, petting it every day and making sure the water bowel is full like his life depended on it.

Dies of cuteness everytime the cat snuggled with him in bed.

Waiting for that [pet]loves you note to appear and it makes him so happy.

Spends most of his time looking for books and reading them in game at the library.(who actually reads those in game? he does!)

From reading all the wiki he knows literally everything about the game as well, will spoil the game.

"Did you know in the fair if you bet on green you will have a 75% chance of winning?"

Spends his time befriending and chatting up all the npcs, so confusing why they don't like him from the get go because of his dazzling beauty!

Will spends YEARS on character customization

Also spends his time getting all the clothes and accessories, because he has to change up his beautiful look every now and then!

Will marry you to constantly give you a bunch of kisses!!! <3

Will also do the unspeakable with you every night XD thankfully you can only have two kids in stardew.

author's note: it's literally been nearly two years since i've uploaded this for the first time. i've gotten a lot better mentally since then, but - when times get tough, i still come back to this. maybe someone else needs it, too. <3

Hey Y/N.

To be honest, I don't really know how to start this thing - there are so many things I want to say. I know life can be hard. And painful. And on some days it would be so much easier to give up and let the darkness consume you. So it is okay to struggle. It's okay to cry and doubt yourself and hate everything. And on some days, it is even okay if you can't live for yourself.

I can see that you are in pain. I don't know what caused it, but then again, it also doesn't really matter. What matters is that you are hurting and I want you to get better. Recovery is never easy and it's also not linear, so I don't expect you to feel perfectly fine within a day or two. I know that - whatever we are gonna battle together - will take time to heal. And also that is okay. I am in for the long ride, I hope you know that. Whenever you are sad or angry or feeling empty, you can call me. I can and will come over if that's what you need. I can stay on the phone with you or pick you up with Roxy to take a walk or help you with whatever you need assistance with. We are a team. And asking for help is not weak. Quite the opposite actually: It shows immense amount of strength.

So remember that there are people out there who love and care about you. I am one of these people. And we want to help. You are not a burden or annoying - you are family. And no matter how bad you think it is - we won't let you down. I won't let you down.

I said that recovery is never easy. And that's the truth. But I will tell you something else: It'll be worth it. One day, everything that is making it difficult for you right now will get easier and easier and you'll be able to breathe again. That dark hole in your chest will get smaller and you won't feel so empty anymore. I promise. The tears will get less and I will get to hear you laugh more often again. I love your laugh. You will dance and joke around and you'll be happy again.

But until we get there, we start with baby steps. And to help you, I have created a list of things to do when it's really bad.

1. Eat something - it doesn't matter what. You don't have to cook if that's too exhausting. You can order something or just eat a snack you have laying around. It shall make you feel good.

2. Please stay hydrated. Preferably with water, but if you can't manage that, everything else is just as good.

3. It personally helps me to take a shower or a bath. I always feel a little better afterwards. Maybe that works for you, too. If that's too exhausting, maybe a little water in your face will do the trick.

4. Rest if you are exhausted: lay down and try to sleep or just close your eyes.

5. If you can - reach out. We could come up with a system, so you send a specific message or emoji and I know it's a tough day. You don't need to explain yourself then.

6. Distraction: read, listen to music, watch TV. Sometimes, it helps.

Now one of the most important things: if all you managed on a day was to stay in bed and survive: I am still unbelievably proud of you. Because you are still here and still fighting and that's all that matters. Stay strong, y/n/n.

hmmm honestly, even though they often don't get the most notes (or many at all), my fav creations are actually the ones i make for my moots bc i love seeing them love something made for them 🥺(and seeing them lose it in the tags hahaha) for example, this hyunminsung set; this soft lino set (and the infamous siyuan bias list set i made though i think there have been some new additions in the past month LOL); this changbin set; this tyong set

3. a creation you're really proud of

any of my comp sets!! apple hair lino, glasses lino, bw cap lino, shit lino says, the lino mood sets. i love making them, but they take a while and it's really nice to see the resulting set

4. a creation that took you forever

this lino maniac one took quite a while because i wanted to make all the clips move in sync, sometimes it works on my computer and not my phone so idk if it actually worked lol but had a lot of fun pain making that one

my first linotonin set, i am blown away by it but also maybe not surprised hahaha while we're here i will also plug my linotonin pt 2 and my linotonin in video form lol in case anyone needs a little linotonin in their life rn

like kass and sa and siyuan have all already said better, i don't think i necessarily deserve any notes because we're all here screaming about kpop in our little corners of the internet so it's not that deep lol, i'm glad if people like my sets and it brings them joy like it did for me to make them but i make sets because i want to <3 though i certainly appreciate the nice tags that people leave of course

that being said, i am still so shocked that this set received so many notes, like I GET WHY but i truly was just putting some random clips of lino that i liked from that skz talker hahaha. so i guess that just goes to show you, even if you do care about the notes it is hard to predict how many a set is going to get. so i try to remind myself to just enjoy the process :)

oh man there were a looot of new groups but the big ones would be skz and txt (it truly does not feel like i joined those fandoms only last year in 2022). also nine.i !! some other groups too like n.flying, xdh, oneus, though i haven't made any sets for those. i also started to learn tbz and mx, and learned ateez and p1h names by osmosis thanks to siyuan lmao so you can thank her for the fact that i have now listed 9 new groups even though the question only asked for one

The thing about me and sports fics is that I know absolutely nothing about sports except for 1 of them so usually they end up in my "Marked for later" for a while. But this is like the third time I've read a sports fic after putting it off to immediately questioning every decision I have ever made

I binged this fic like a fucking maniac but there was a logical part of me that was like "please...the assignment you've been procrastinating for 2 weeks is due tomorrow..." so I forced myself to put it down and go to sleep. That was yesterday. I brought my work with me from downstairs at 1am because "if I'm not gonna be able to sleep might as well finish this and then read Magnetic North the rest of the night" WELL I JUST FINISHED THE FIC AND I'M LITERALLY TRYING TO MAKE SENSE OF MY THOUGHTS AND IT IS NOT WORKING-

Coherency...I know how to do that yes. Starting and ending it with Marjan's article was SUCH a nice touch I loved the way she wrote about them!

Also everyone who has ever been mean to TK can line up in an abandoned parking lot...You don't hurt my boy <3 :) . HIS GROWTH??? THAT'S MY POOKIE I'M SO FUCKING PROUD OF HIM??? Picking him up and parting his head as we speak. No but seriously he's so awesome and he's been hurt so much but all he really wants is love 😭. NOW YOU GET TO HAVE SO MUCH OF IT BABY!!! Carlos...where do I even start. I need to hug him let's start there. It broke my heart so badly when he didn't even get the chance to come out on his own terms. i think ur account is pretty sweet and wanted to ask do u have any tips for starting out in tumblr ive been wanting to start doing stuff on here for a long time but cant get a grip on it and have no idea how to start or what to even do and u seem cool and ive been following u for a while so well uh do u have any tips for starting out or something it would mean a whole lot to me giggles !!!

HI okay first off THANK YOU and here is all my general advice and personal experience:3

when i first created my account i only wrote stuff for omori and basically nothing else, i didn't post my art or anything like that. and then one day i was like what if i posted my drawings and i did and BOOM people liked it so i kept going!!! i've thought about making two separate blogs for art and writing but that would take a lot of effort and it seems complicated because i know a lot of people only follow me for one or the other so idk maybe i will but ANYWAYS

i say just go for it. it was completely on a whim that i made a tumblr account. before i didn't even use tumblr i had one account years ago that i rarely used, i just wondered hey i like content for my fandoms but what if i MADE content for my fandoms and BOOM pineappleciders was born.

i write because i eeally enjoy these fandoms and communities, and requests are so fun to do because i get to show people my observations and opinions of these characters and their personalities!!& all while bringing comfort to people and making them feel heard. so it's a win-win!

i'd suggest taking any of your interests or hobbies and making it into soemthing. like if you're interested in a video game i'd start posting art or writing or an AU or just talking about the game and theories ans stuff!!!

if you like to draw and are thinking about posting your art, PLEASE do NOT let anything affect you!!! there are going to be rude people ans there will be times where you post cringe and a lot of people see it. even if you don't get a lot of followers or notes at first, do not let it drag you down. i started my blog because i wanted to do something that resonates with my special interests and i wanted to share it with people. don't make content FOR people, make content to SHARE with people.

if you want advice about how to get more followers or likes and stuff, all i can say is just do what makes you happy. i've never really been in a situation where i've felt i have to get more likes on this one post or i need more followers or anything like that, because i post for those 2 people who immediately like the post .4 seconds after i post it. i post for the people who like my interests just as much as i do, and most importantly i post because it makes me happy!!!

moral of the story is find the community that you want to be in and start there. give yourself a pfp of a character from a fandom or make your blog all pretty or relate it to a fandom or whatever, the point is to just do what makes you happy and post what you want to post!!!

i have about 1,800 followers, and i still remember getting happy over 10 and 50 fillowers. i'm so glad that people like my content, and i hope i can keep sharing it with you gusy. also remember to take care of yourself and don't pressure yourself into working overtime, you always come first. also never be sad if you don't have a lot of followers!!! literally 10 people is a lot. 20 people is a lot. 2K PEOPEL IS A LOT. if u think about it like all of them r in one room looking at you or your post and liking it then THAT IS A LOT. be proud of your milestones!!!!

idk if any of that made sense but basically if you're looking for likes and shit go to tiktok or instagram. if u want to share love and content wiht a community because creating is something you enjoy and you want to share it with others use tumblr. it's all about making a blog for something you enjoy and utilizing . basically if u also want a place to freak out about yoru interests and have others freak iut about them too then tumblr is the place. i've found that i can post the weirdest shit and only lose a few follwkers. pretty based tbh

i have a thing to say, idk where I'm going with this but pls listen. The people who are hating on harry the most are only those who are chronically online. I'm sure that no artist or celebrity is popping veins because harry styles won AOTY.

this is the thing with being chronically online, one of my fav memes that I saw and still think about is the one whic goes:

person 1: I love apple

person 2: so are you saying you hate oranges?

this is literally how chronically online ppl act. there is absolutely no nuance, no grey area... everything is just black or white in this situation.

first about him deserving AOTY, yes he did. Harry's house (regardless of if anyone likes it or not) stayed up in charts, was played multiple times, is critically acclaimed and has several accolades. so is the case with Renaissance correct. but the thing about these nominations are that there is possibility of winning and losing indefinitely. Did Harry's house deserve to win? this is a question which is very subjective. those who likes it will say yes and those who don't will say their fav album but painting hs3 as some sort of a charity case that harry winning that award is extremely shocking, never thought of never been done before is case of extreme delusional imo. all the albums which were nominated were for a reason, which means the probability of any album winning was the same as harry winning. it was in competition for a reason. imo I get the anger that people have because beyonce has been snubbed from AOTY for many yrs but imo that is a frustration that should be taken upon recording academy and not harry. I have barely seen tweets and posts about ppl being angry at RA but more about how harry didn't deserve it. AOTY was deserved by every nominee if they were nominated at the first place.

now about his speech, what harry said yes I agree it sounds tone deaf. I know what he means, his fans know what he meant but I can understand how GP thought of it. I hope in the future harry minds his words and practice beforehand how to approach this situation. But I also have to add this thing, that I have seen several ppl wanting to "cancel" him, several ppl making fake tweets about how lizzo and Adele weren't happy, several ppl digging into his old tweets wanting to find racism...in one way harry should've been considerate but on the other way there is minimal actual disappointment but rather "let's jump on this bandwagon to hate on him"

anyways my advice to your other anon as well is to refrain yourself from "chronically online" people. Acknowledge that harry can and make mistakes. hold him accountable. but also find nuances and differences between an emotion out of vengeance and an emotion of actual disappointment. find difference between people who preach and people who listen and people who make you understand.

lastly, harry should've been careful with his words. and I hope he keeps that in mind. but do I think the world will end because of this? no. do i think Harry's house deserved the award? hell yes and I'm proud of his accomplishment.

i agree with a bunch, kind anon, but i do want to note that harry is probably one of the most censored artists out there in terms of what actually genuinely comes out of his mouth. does the speech sound out of touch? i guess, if you actually believe someone who is really a white cishet man could think he's a minority, but that seems kinda unlikely tbh. it seems like ppl are just ready to hate on anything harry says. bc a more logical interpretation of the speech would be - "hm. this sounds like something who is a minority would say. maybe he is one of us." was it the Smartest thing to say in a situation where no one gets him? no. but do i stand behind the idea that he should shut up even more than he already does? also no.

and then about the grammys... *deep sigh* why do people fucking care so much?
