There's a random cat who sometimes wanders around outside. Occasionally he will leap up outside Drew's window, where she sits to survey her domain / birdwatch. Here's the thing:

He seems to be, like, a chill dude. He's not particularly trying to harm her, he apparently just wants to hang out.

She considers herself the protector of this household, and him an Intruder who deserves to be Torn To Shreds for daring to threaten us.

Which means every time he shows up she loses her ABSOLUTE SHIT and I have to 1. shoo him away, and 2. give her pets and kisses and tell her she's doing such a good job of Defending Us From Evil Forces until she calms down.

As much as I’m loving Stray I really dislike the All the Humans are Dead because They Lived in One Place and All Died Dyingly trope it’s falling in to. I’ve seen this before and like... you’re not going to shove all of humanity in one city you based off of the Walled City, guys. There’s always people outside those walls. That’s a tale as old as time.

Everybody’s Dead Dave to me as always been one of the cheaper story telling moves, even knowing that one day that will be the case I’m pretty sure it won’t happen as presented here.
