I am sitting rn, dreaming of chicken nuggets and thinking about trans ftm Gaz.
Im thinking how Gaz formally, by papers is a male, was on T for more than 4 years (my fucking dream) but didn't have his top surgery at the time of joining Price was absolutely terrified of getting laughed at and harassed if anyone, specially Captain, got to know. So he never told.
Trans tape, tight sports bra, binders. He trains in them, wears them for way more that recommended 7-8 hours. As you can imagine having tight binder on for more 12 hours at the time isn't nice, Kyle very heavy breathing caught attention with time. Basically everyone new something was up.
Now listen. We all understand next things: 1. Kyle works in that thing. 2. He goes on missions. It's part of his work. Picture next: Gaz gets shot. Right lung. It's punctured. It's hard to breathe. Even harder with tight cloth on his chest. No one can figure out what the fuck is happening and why is the breathing so uncontrollable for their teammate. Of course, they get Gaz on medevac, no one gets let inside to assure at least somewhat of safety from infections.
Sergeant is in the hospital, everyone else is forced in base. Price never made damn paperwork faster in his life. As soon as it's dealt with he rushes to the hospital. Right on time. Kyle's out of surgery, under strong painkillers and antibiotics but alive. Doctors can't tell him anything, personal data protection. So he'll wait, to base, give everyone an update, try to sleep, wait for doctors call. Sergeant wouldn't be up for three days, anesthesia is a strong thing.
Kyle would cry telling (he has to explain. let him know that he is fine. it feels like his father Captain deserves to know)his Captain about being trans getting nowhere, sobbing is way too harsh. Its not even a question that Price would carefully hug him, reassuring him that whatever it is he would never turn away or do anything. Finally a quiet "I'm trans." comes through.
"And..?" John encourages. He is trans and? "I don't care, you are who you are. Life is way too short and even shorter for us. You should've known by that point. You are and will be on my team no matter what, son. Calm down, it can't be good for your lung.. Rest."
Despite punctured lung Kyle never breathed so freely.
