💕 + Moomin Valley
There's.... There's genuinely so little to be shipped in Moominvalley..... At least so little that I ship.
I like the basic Snufkin/Moomin, especially in the 2019 version. Quality baby gay Snufkin in love with his bestie. They are 12 and in love and don't know what that means.
I think Moomin and Snorkmaiden are cute in the 90's version. Baby love in all forms is sweet.
I've seen some people shipping Snorkmaiden and Little My and that's cute. Girls will be girls will be lesbians.
The Moominmama - Moominpapa - Joxter - Mymble chain is up there, old married couple polycule.
A little more out there is the 90's version of The Snork and the Witch I think are funny?? It wasn't serious but when they interact they just give me a vibe. I think it's funny.
In the same vein I think 90's version of Snufkin and Moominpapa had a drunk make-out session at some point and they don't talk about it but this is why Moominpapa very often goes "what do you think, Snufkin?" in situations where he himself is stumped.
Also 2019 Moominpapa and Moominmama are in an open relationship to me. I like Mama/Stinky and Papa/Mrs. Fillyjonk in that context, they're very cute
And then I think I should be beamed into Moominvalley 2019 to kiss The Hobgoblin right on his mouth. He deserves it.

Mrs. Fillyjonk's General Store
On finding your way home
Mrs. Fillyjonk spent her days following a carefully planned routine, which was very much what everyone in Moominvalley had come to know her for. What had gradually changed over the years, however, was how she spent all this effort and passion for control. When she and her three children had first arrived in Moominvalley, she clearly felt that her perfectionism set her above everyone else in the village. She was immediately at odds with the Moomin family and their freewheeling lifestyle because they were her closest neighbors.
Inevitably, the Moomin family were the first to attempt to welcome Mrs. Fillyjonk to Moominvalley. It didn't go well and she and Moominmama wound up locking horns frequently over the next three years. Fortunately, Moomintroll, Snufkin, Snork Maiden, and Sniff charmed their way into friendship with Mrs. Fillyjonk's three children, Allan, Robert, and Linda over the first week that they all met. The children began a sort of conspiracy against Mrs. Fillyjonk's severe, elitist, controlling temperament which proved very effective.
Mrs. Fillyjonk was a strict, overprotective disciplinarian towards her children precisely because she loved them very much. She wanted to protect them from the world that she had come to see as cruel and dangerous because of bitter experiences during her marriage. As Moomintroll and his friends taught her children how to have fun and enjoy life, she found herself being softened gradually by their growing happiness.
Eventually, she and Moominmama became friends and Moominmama helped her to warm her icy relationship with the families of Moominvalley. She joined the Moominvalley Women's Club and mutual understanding between Mrs. Fillyjonk and the villagers of Moominvalley began to grow. The final thing that made her a fully welcome member of the community was her growing friendship with Mr. Hemulen.
Mr. Hemulen was a beloved figure in Moominvalley. Everyone looked forward to seeing him wandering through the valley each day, closely examining every flower he came across. Despite the solitary existence he led, he was always willing to pitch in and help anyone who asked. His spectacular fireworks were in regular demand throughout Spring, Summer, and Fall every year. Mrs. Fillyjonk came to respect his scientific expertise, but she was concerned about his tendency to avoid community events where he wasn't providing fireworks.
She barged her way into Mr. Hemulen's life and made sure he would be there for big celebrations and holiday parties. She was instantly appalled at the disorderly state he kept his cottage in when she came to visit him for the first time. He didn't have the fortitude to prevent her from putting his home and greenhouse in order, but he managed to draw the line at his fireworks workshop. Mrs. Fillyjonk was not eager to be blown to smithereens by misfortune.
She did insist on checking on him twice a week to do housecleaning and make sure that he was eating properly. After several months Mr. Hemulen began to look forward to her regular visits, and caring for him brought out her gentle side even more. It would be an exaggeration to say that they were in love, but they had come to enjoy each other's company very much.
A year after Moomintroll and Snork Maiden's children were born, Mr. Hemulen's health went into a very rapid, frightening decline after he suffered a bad fall in his cottage. Mrs. Fillyjonk was the first to find him and immediately moved in with him. She became his full-time caregiver as his advanced age slowly crippled him totally. She made sure to put all of his affairs in order, taking particular care to hand over his fireworks supplies to his nephew, who took them back with him to Tornio and his fireworks business there.
Mrs. Fillyjonk alerted the members of the Moominvalley Women's Club when Mr. Hemulen's last days were clearly upon him. She, Moominmama, and all the members of the club stood by his bedside as he quietly passed away in his sleep. Mrs. Fillyjonk made all of the funeral arrangements and it was a fitting memorial to him. The entire Moominvalley community spent the year in mourning and Mrs. Fillyjonk helped everyone deal with their grief as she dealt with her own.
She kept living in Mr. Hemulen's cottage, caring for all the exotic plants in his greenhouse and his extensive flower garden. She also got Moominpapa's help organizing Mr. Hemulen's voluminous notes on plants and making sure that they were published for posterity. She wanted Mr. Hemulen's cottage to stand as more than just a memorial to him and decided to turn it into a general store for the village. Mrs. Fillyjonk's disciplined mind made her a natural at starting and maintaining a business and her General Store soon became a welcome fixture at the heart of the village. Her three children became capable employees in short order, but when Alan and Robert went to Tornio University, she and her daughter Linda found the store almost more than they could handle.
Mrs. Fillyjonk could see that Linda would very soon want to go out into the world on her own as well. She wanted her daughter to feel completely free to pursue an independent life, so she put out a flyer in the village offering a good job to a promising candidate. The first person to respond wasn't at all who she might have expected.
On the first Monday in May, a very pretty young human woman entered Mrs. Fillyjonk's General Store in the late morning and handed one of Mrs. Fillyjonk's flyers back to her. She had bright red hair tied up in a green bow and wore a long green dress that came down to her black leather shoes. She wore a small bell around her neck that was old and no longer worked. She was carrying two large traveling bags that were obviously stuffed full with her belongings.
"I would like to apply for the position you're offering.", she said very calmly and professionally as she set her luggage down, "I'm looking to move to Moominvalley permanently and I need a source of income. Since I'm looking to become a part of the community, you don't have to worry that I'll forget my obligations to you as my employer or suddenly leave without notice. I would also appreciate it if you could point me to some affordable lodgings."
"Very well.", said Mrs. Fillyjonk kindly, "I must say that you give a very good first impression. You may start in three days, after we get you settled in of course. You may stay in my old cottage free of charge as long as you keep both the house and yard in good condition. I'll give you three months to prove yourself here, and then we'll see. Oh! How terribly rude of me! I've completely forgotten to ask you your name!"
"Ninny. Ninny Hampton."

So, I have a Moomins OC, and I don't currently have an image to share with y'all, but I got facts and Headcanons and such, so...
Random facts about Lumini:
Sometimes (and it's rarely known) whens she's cross with someone, something small, but bad, will happen to them
Ex: Broken toe, trip up/down the stairs, ect.
Lumini is so affectionate physically and verbally with all her friends that when any of them give her shit for something she to and/or with Snufkin she can say, "But I do that to you aswell", and they can't even deny it
Lumini dabbles in sewing and made herself a ball gown once, but never had the occasion to wear it
Her hat was a gift from her father to keep her fair skin safe from the sun
She has a secret sketchbook that totally isn't filled with shippy pictures of her and certain someone *cough cough* *nudge nudge*
Lumini hid her tail from everyone for years. It was only discovered when Little My saw her lift her skirt to wade in the water
When she was younger, she actually hated skirts and dresses
Lumini once stuck her hand into Moominmama's kitchen sink when it was filled with steaming hot water to retrieve a dish for her. It scared Moominmama half to death, but Lumini was unfased
Her favorite fruit is peaches
She has a tendency to get very upset over simple things
Ex: Being late to any engagement, losing her father's umbrella, ect.
Lumini writes poetry, but not often because she thinks it's bad
She can do a good brittish and russian accent
She feels like nothing she knows is particularly useful knowledge
Lumini finds it funny that people have often come to her for romantic advice, when she wasn't in a relationship and had never been
Lumini has let her book shelves become a sort of mini library
idk, I just want some incorrect quotes so

Most of Lumini's heritage is a mystery and her slightly pointy ears and mumrik-like tail leave Little My with all kinds of theories
And that's all I got for now. Enjoy your morning/afternoon/evening!

It’s been years but it still stands that I’m desperate for some good ole’ moomin tarot cards.
Soooome ramblings and interpretations of some of the major arcana
Interpretation wise I think Hemulen would fit the magician. Not really just for the aesthetic but Hemulens are really goal oriented for achieving their own desires and hyperfixations. Which magicians are all about.
Snorkmaiden sorta fits the star. It’s about radiating joy, dreaming, and enjoying life for both its highs and lows. It’s about being positive and growing to be your best self. Her joy and feminity are written to be invaluable in the long run and being a positive force onto the cast.
Death is a card that people have a natural gut reaction to be freaked by and i don’t hecken blame them. Although its meaning is positive. Rebirth. Starting over. Out with the old bad stuff and in with the fresh and new. Know who else is misconstrued by others in the series for their intentions? Our poor friend, the Groke.
Moomin is the fool. New beginnings and going out to have experiences. Adventure! As the main character of the franchise, he’s not only Tove’s avatar but ours as well. We experience events and learn about Moominvalley and its inhabitants through him. He’s kinda what started it all and where it begins.
Thingumy and Bob would fit The Lovers. The card is abt deciding between which two paths of a crossroad to take and making a tough choice despite none of them possibly being favorable options. Also bc in swedish their names are Tofsla and Vifslan that were pet-names that reference Tove and her girlfriend at that current time, Vivica. Their suitcase symbolized their love being locked away and hidden.
Snufkin is the Hermit hands down. The need for solitude is like the main component of his character.
Moominmama and Moominpappa are the Empress and Emperor. Also for they can aesthetically correspond. Both these cards represents the traditional sense of what a mother and father represent. Nuturing vs. Protecting. Which is really self-explanatory. Reverse Emperor also could mean that you feel your freedom is rather constricted, which is a issue Moominpappa faces in the books. Alternatively, The Great Mymble could fit the Empress bc she’s an OG.
Little My would be the Chariot. I can’t imagine her being any other card. She should be the posterchild for it. The Chariot is about being assertive with your decisions and having the ulitmate willpower to do it and succeed. No one can stop them or should underestimate them. They do what they want and they are on a roll!
Ninny to me fits the Moon arcana to a T! And I might just be super indulgent abt it bc moon is my fave. Dealing with overcoming fear and anxiety and have trouble accepting who they are from it. Sometimes causing to project a false self or illusion. Either Toffle and Miffle could also fit here with their fear. But if Miffle is the moon then Toffle is the sun from his development and also so they can coordinate!
Stinky is the Devil 😈
Mrs. Fillyjonk would probs fit the Hierophant. That card represents tradition and being set in their ways. Being wise and logical. Most Fillyjonks value order and being traditionally “proper”. Valuing rules over new eccentricities. Alternatively, she could be Justice since the Hierophant is often depicted to be more masculine. Justice fits since its about every action having a reaction/consequence and that everything has law and structure. And also finding balance which is the solution to most of Fillyjonks’ issues.
Too-Ticky would be The High Priestess. This is associated with wisdom, intuitaveness, and empathy. Traits she possesses. It also includes knowing hidden knowledge. When Moomin wakes up early from his hibernation, she really levels with him and advises him about winter in Moominvalley, something that is hidden, new, and a mystery to him.
There’s a few I missed and some character could fit the minor arcana more, but I have no idea what character would be tragically chaotic enough to fit the tower. i’d love to hear other interpretations tho I live for this stuff!!

King Moominpapa
On welcoming uninvited guests
Moominpapa and the ghostly Moomin Knights continued their daily beach party for four days before the ghost pirates' gallions were sighted outside of Moominvalley's bay by the lookout posted on the high cliff that overlooked the bay. There were four gallions in the pirate fleet. All of them looked like wrecks that wouldn't have remained afloat if they hadn't been ghost ships: every plank of them looked rotten, their sails were in tatters, their crews couldn't be properly seen, and their figureheads were horifying parodies of what one would expect of normal figureheads.
Moominpapa immediately rallied the ghost knights and the villagers into the surf, telling everyone to lead the ghost sailors into the middle of the party the minute the longboats came close to running aground. Fortunately, it was right around lunchtime when the longboats came within sight, and all of the partiers were already in very high spirits.
Twenty longboats made their way towards the beach all at the same time. They were crewed by a mixture of ghostly fuzzies, hemulens, fillyjonks, and human ghosts, all armed to the teeth with swords, daggers, and single shot pistols. Each boat was quickly overwhelmed by the welcoming hoard of Moomin Knights and living villagers. The pirates were disarmed and carried into the crowd of partiers on the beach before they knew what was happening. The only thing pirates like more than a profitable raid is a really wild party, and the party on the beach more than qualified. The pirates were easily swept up in the increasingly raucous, happy atmosphere and quickly forgot their original goal of terrorising Moominvalley.
The Captain of the ghost pirate fleet was the last to arrive on the beach and the only pirate on whom Moominpapa's plan failed. Moominpapa, of course, was expecting this and went to greet him personally, accompanied by the entire Moomin family. It was then that they realized that they had all met this ghost before. He looked like a sheet that had been thrown over a beast that wanted to keep their identity a secret. It was the same ghost that they had met when they had all gone to the lighthouse island in the middle of the Baltic Sea and helped the lighthouse keeper return to his job.
"You?!", said Moominpapa in astonishment. "How?! You were a whimpering coward who got left behind by the rest of the ghosts on your ship! Don't get me wrong; I'm glad you found your way back to them, but how did you get to be a ghost pirate Captain, of a fleet of ships no less?!"
Their old friend certainly looked the part now. He wore a garishly decorated Captain's hat and naval deck cloak and wielded a long, broad cutlass. The instant he saw the Moomin family, however, he fell into the sheepish demeanor that they had first known him for.
"Well, you see," he said, "I decided to take Little My's words to heart when I found my old ship again and stop being a pushover. I stood up for myself and kept moving up in the ranks as I was allowed to lead raids. Before I knew it, I was, well, where you see me now. The Moomin Knights have been longtime enemies of the ghost pirates and when I heard that they were returning to Moominvalley, I thought we could really cause some mischief by disrupting their do-gooding. Imagine; ghosts that want to save the living from being scared by ghosts! It's absurd! But, I can see that there's no way that we can succeed in scaring the citizens of Moominvalley now! I imagine this is all your doing!", he said accusingly to Moominpapa.
Moominpapa and his family laughed hilariously at the ghost's predicament. "Please feel free to join us for the rest of today's party!", said Moominpapa welcomingly, "You and your crew can even stay in Moominvalley, if you promise to behave yourselves!"
"Well, I really have no choice but to stay for the party.", said the ghost Captain dejectedly, "I mean; look at my crew! They won't want to leave until it ends, no matter what I say now! But, we won't be staying! We couldn't call ourselves pirates if we were to settle down and live in one place! I promise that we'll leave the minute the party ends. My crew will probably insist on coming back to party with you all every Spring from now on. It's all too embarrassing!"
"As I said," said Moominpapa, "You're more than welcome, but I will understand if you don't want to join in personally."
The ghost Captain was as good as his word, and as soon as the villagers began to leave for the day, the ghost pirates piled into their longboats and headed back to their gallions. The gallions quickly sailed out of sight, leaving only the Moomin Knights and the Moomins on the beach.
Moominpapa then turned to the former King and Queen of the ghost Moomins. He lifted the crowns off of his and Moominmama's heads, saying, "This is my last command to you as your King: take back your crowns and your thrones. If you wish to, you may stay in Moominvalley peacefully for as long as you like. Remember all the good new friends you've made here, and treat them accordingly." With that, Moominpapa handed back the crowns and cloak the ghosts had given him.
"Yes, your Majesty!", said all the ghost Moomins at once.
Moominpapa and Moominmama then rejoined their family and they all began to head back to Moominhouse. Moomintroll put his paw on his father's shoulder and indicated that he needed to talk to him. The two men moved to the back of their little group and Moomintroll started their conversation by returning his father's top hat to him.
"Here; this really does belong to you and not to me.", said Moomintroll, "A few years ago, I began to resent you for selfish reasons: I thought that you expected me to be a copy of you and that I would never get there. You felt like you were a thousand miles away and that I couldn't get you to listen. I wanted to have adventures that you would be forced to recognize. I wanted to have adventures for your sake, and not for myself. I realize that all of those thoughts were my fault. Then Snufkin fell in love with me, and I really did begin to have grand adventures of my very own. When I came back, Snork Maiden made the family that I had secretly dreamed of a reality and I thought I had gotten over all my selfishness towards you. I've really loved how you and I have been towards each other since I came back. We had finally gotten to the place where we were equals, where you were my good friend as well as my father. But then, all of this began, and suddenly you were a thousand miles away from me all over again, and I began to resent you again. I feared that I might not get you back, that the ghosts would take you from us all....from me. I was wrong. I should have trusted you from the start. I'm very sorry. I'm going to try my best to be happy that you're you and that I'm me. I love you so very much, Papa, and that's never changed, ever."
"Thank you, Moomintroll!", said Moominpapa with deep love and appreciation, hugging his son powerfully with one arm as they walked.

King Moominpapa
On parades and beach parties
The castle of the ghost Moomins appearing out of nowhere nearby Moominhouse drew the attention of everyone in Moominvalley. Every beast who could muster the courage to investigate the castle converged gradually around it, waiting for something to happen. Opinions among the growing crowd were divided between those who were fascinated and wanted to see inside the castle and those who wanted to head for the other side of the mountains as soon as anything or anyone came out of the castle. Everyone was thrown into confusion by the appearance of Mr. Hemulen, who suddenly walked through the castle walls and across the surface of the moat, peering at the ground intently through his magnifying glass as usual.
They were even more astonished when the drawbridge dropped and Moominpapa, Moominmama, Moomintroll and Snork Maiden came out leading a grand parade of ghost Moomins marching to fanfare from a squadron of ghost trumpeters and drummers in their midst. Moominpapa was in full kingly regalia and enthusiastically leading the parade arm in arm with a more subdued and uneasy Moominmama. Snork Maiden and Moomintroll were marchingly directly behind them, trying their best to join in the intended festive atmosphere and not to look embarrassed.
All of the ghosts waved to the gathered crowd as they passed, putting on their best smiles and friendly faces. The parade began to have the effect on the villagers that Moominpapa had clearly been hoping for. Everyone in the crowd of the living began cheering on the parade of the dead, and as the rear of the parade passed, they merrily lined up behind the ghosts and began to march in time with them, as the ghosts themselves had been encouraging them to do. The parade began to head towards the bay, gathering more and more villagers behind it as it went along.
Snufkin was the very last person in Moominvalley to reach the site of the castle, missing the parade by only minutes. He had seen the castle appear from the top of a tall foothill a good number of kilometers away from Moominhouse. He has realized instantly that his family would be right in the middle of this emergency because that's where they always were and had headed back to Moominhouse as fast as he could. The sounds of the parade and the tracks of the villagers lead him directly to the rear of the parade.
Snufkin made his way up the length of the parade and found Moomintroll and Snork Maiden. "What in The Booble's name is happening?!", he asked both of them.
"Meet our wonderful new neighbors!", said Moomintroll sarcastically, "They've gone and made Papa and Mama their King and Queen! They wanted Papa's leadership to help stop a gang of ghost pirates who are due to invade Moominvalley from the bay any day now! Naturally, Papa's taken the opposite approach from what the Moomin ghosts were most certainly looking for. So here we are, trying to win over all of Moominvalley before the pirates arrive so that they can help Papa and his new ghost subjects talk the pirates out of their invasion. I hate to admit it, but Papa's crazy plan is actually working so far. The Booble knows when the pirates are going to arrive or what Papa intends for us to do once we reach the beach. We'll either have to keep up this level of enthusiasm for longer than practical or prepare for the pirates arrival immediately!"
"So, which do you resent more; that this is Moominpapa's plan, or that it's working?", asked Snufkin teasingly, chuckling at Moomintroll.
"Ok. You've got a point.", admitted Moomintroll reluctantly, "I'm wishing that I were in control, and I might be overreacting, but look at this situation! Who wouldn't worry?!"
"I definitely would.", said Snork Maiden, "But, how much more than this can we really do? As you said, Moominpapa's plan IS working. Why don't we do all we can to help instead of doubting him?"
"You're right, Snork Maiden. Again.", said Moomintroll, "Alright; I'll do my best to help him as we go along. I've certainly learned how to trust myself when I have to improvise. Now I just have to trust Moominpapa. I just hope we get him back at the end of all this. I just don't want to lose him to a bunch of ghosts."
The entire crowd of ghosts and villagers arrived at the beach and Moominpapa climbed the largest boulder on the beach and signalled that he was about to speak. Everyone fell silent.
"Fellow residents of Moominvalley!", said Moominpapa, "I would like to introduce the Moomin Knights!", gesturing at the ghosts, who all bowed at once. "They have come here to greet their old friends from the roaming ghost fleet that sails the seven seas and are due to arrive in Moominvalley Bay any day now. I hope you all will welcome these noble knights and their friends to Moominvalley! The Knights will be setting up camp here on the beach to prepare a proper welcome for the ghost fleet and extend the hand of friendship to them. We will be holding a beach party here every day from mid-morning to mid-afternoon until the fleet arrives. Please feel free to join us every day, as many of you as wish to! You all should also feel free to explore the ghost castle at your leisure!"
The festive atmosphere of the parade made the residents of Moominvalley eager to join the beach party. A large contingent of them, organized by Mrs. Fillyjonk, returned to the village and brought back picnic tables and food for everyone. The villagers who could play musical instruments brought them back with them and they and the ghost court musicians joined forces to play lively dance music for the whole crowd. The first day of the beach party was a big success. The Moomin ghosts and the living villagers quickly became good friends. Moomintroll was finally able to really enjoy the first day of his father's plan without feeling resentful or worrying thanks to Snufkin and Snork Maiden, who took Moomintroll by the paw and led him into the crowd of dancing villagers and ghosts, where his love of dancing, especially with the two of them, took over. The three of them could see where Moominpapa's plan was going and now they were all content to wait for the arrival of the ghost pirates and to trust in Moominpapa.
