What did Toby do for homestuck?

Toby Fox composed many songs for the webcomic Homestuck; created by Andrew Hussie. The comic started in 2009, and Toby joined a forum for the comic. He emailed Hussie and requested to join the private music team forum. He included a sample of his music in the email. Toby was immediately added to the forum. Toby stated that many members in the forum never made music as well. He was quite prolific and wrote SEVERAL iconic homestuck soundtracks. I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH

I do! I've actually liked it for years. Um, I'm going to be kinda cringe for a minute before I get into the actual game it's self. Spoilers?? Do I need to warn that?

I actually fell into the game when I was in 5th grade, I couldn't even play the game and it still managed to get a grip on me. I watched every video I could find about it, mainly getting sucked into videos reading comics about the game. Me and my friend at the time both loved the game so we would talk about it for hours and real fanfics on Quotev and Wattpad. I actually remember seeing "Down To The Bone." When/ around the time dropped, I listened to it on repeat. I also watched the "Undertale If It Was Realistic." A lot too. ALSO, the undertale parody of "Stronger Than You" was quoted a lot. My friend was a huge fan of Temmie and they used to talk like her and I remember always thinking that was cool. I was always a huge fan of Papyrus, Mettaton, and Sans. Mettaton specifically (more on that later). And I guess I just remember, wanting so bad to be able to be apart of the fandom, but not being able to. I begged my mom to get me merch for the game while trying to hide how I knew so much about the game. (I wasn't allowed on YouTube or social media so I had to tell her I loved it bc my friend did.) I did not get the merch I wanted btw, but um, I guess it's just, it's my childhood in a way. I also used to try and draw the characters but I couldn't draw so I ended up just imagining scenarios in my head. I used to swing on the swing set at recess and just imagine stuff about the game.

Okay so the fun not cringe stuff but still cringe in a way.

So, when I finally played undertale for the first time, oh my god??? It fixed something in me, what it fixed, I don't know. I remember being super confused and trying to look at a guide for everything. I also felt so bad because I killed a few monsters in my first run and when Undyne told me I was killing them I cried. I also cried at her fight because I was dying over and over and I didn't know what to do. And also at the time I thought there were two endings, Pacifist and Genocide, and I cried when I couldn't save Asgore because I thought did something wrong (because at this point I had reset the game and killed no one). Fun fact, I have never played the Genocide route because I can't kill Papyrus. I can't do it man. I'd rather die. I love the sound track, and I love all the characters. And I love the game. I want to get an undertale tattoo at some point I love it that much.

I guess the last thing I want to say is that the game probably made me realize I was queer, in some way. Like it might not have been an instant thing, but it definitely opened my mind to queer ideas when all I had been fed was gay people bad, trans people evil. I think Mettaton was a huge thing to me, I wanted to be like him, I thought he was so cool. I didn't know men could be feminine and be cool, that it wasn't some joke. I just, I think it made me realize something some how. Also seeing a lesbian couple made a little switch in my brain flip, like oh, I like them, and they're gay, so why don't I like other gay people? (I had a LOT of internalized homophobia and transphobia and it was somehow fixed by undertale go figure 😭)

I don't know, maybe this isn't the best breakdown or what you were looking for, and to be fair it's probably unintelligible rambling. But it did give me a chance to look back on my past and how much this game really changed me and made my life better. So thanks! Um and sorry I suppose.

Also! Shocker, and probably insane to admit, but... I never thought I'd find a game that made me feel like Undertale did and then I found TF2. TF2 is my new Undertale and that's horrific </3

☆ INTRODUCTION ☆

i originally came up with the idea of a comic (working on a draft) of underswap chara on the surface, as i really hadn't came across any of those back in 2018.

just thought it'd be fun to put my own twist on underswap, and explore chara's character in-depth like other undertale aus have done with their frisks. i already brainstormed a lot of ideas so i'm geared and ready to go with all the information for this au!

first of all -- my username on socials is sirfrogerson. my art will be watermarked with that username, as this undertale au blog is a side blog! my main is here. i won't be extremely active-- this is just for fun and i'd love to share this au i've wanted to share for years. doing 13 year old me a lil favor, haha

yes i am 18, so i ask that even if i am practically an adult, please do not be weird. since this doubles as an ask blog as well, i won't answer not age appropriate questions. bare that in mind!

☆ WHAT IS THIS AU ABOUT? ☆

as mentioned in my pinned post-- this au is about chara's struggles on the surface. going by the theory of undertale chara having been a troubled kid (link is the "Who is The True Villain of Undertale?"), i kind of wanted to keep similar ideals with underswap chara. very much still troubled, and may not even favor humans. they fell underground for a reason they don't like talking about, and in general-- never speak of their problems.

this leads to an array of problems for them, often having moments of extreme anger and frustration when nobody understands them. they confide in sans and papyrus-- only because they feel the most comfortable knowing they burden their own secrets they won't tell anyone.

but, they don't just confide in the skeleton brothers-- they also confide in temmie. probably the worst choice of finding a friend to trust, but chara feels that temmie's really the only one that'll understand and not be biased. temmie knows most of their inner workings, and sometimes takes advantage of that just to mess with their life a little bit.

no harm done-- besides, it's not like temmie's killing their friends again. temmie just has some fun causing problems-- and quickly, temmie becomes a major problem later down the line.

it doesn't just focus on their problems and other people's problems-- it's also just the daily life of chara. chara having sleepovers at sans and papyrus (as they live currently with asgore). chara intends on mending the relationship between asgore and toriel, as asriel wants to help too.

they have big plans, though they are quite overwhelmed with all of them. getting monsters human rights so they can move to the human cities, going from home school into a public school, and having a job at muffet's.

this AU, TL;DR, is just about the underswap characters' lives on the surface, and the problems they face.

☆ OTHER INFO ☆

i will most likely not include outside AUS with this AU. simply for the purpose of keeping it confided with underswap, as it's the main focal point. just one AU. but i don't mind any crossovers or if people want to use my AU-- i just ask that i get credited for my version of underswap chara (the AU nickname i came up for them is tansy).

i will draw them interacting with other AU characters, either through doodles not connected to the story or through asks if people mention them or bring them in. that i'm chill with! i really like undertale AUs anyway :)

Cherry’sTale is like a diverted timeline

Y’know, different fallen human and all that jazz

Cherry herself is fully aware of everything she does, she knows the consequences of all her actions and doesn’t care too much

Camilia is the first fallen child, didn’t eat buttercups, ate daffodils

Tori (just tori) is y’know, toriel but she’s more aware of the fact that not everything can be solved with mercy and talking, she does teach cherry how to defend herself and all that. She DOES still try to stop her from leaving the ruins though.

Azazal aka sans is basically the same but taller, horns and all that, he, cherry, daisy (flowey), and Liff know about the resets and all that. He’s stronger than sans due to the fact that he actually does have heath, not by that much though, so he still dodges. Still the royal judge. With my other oc Pebble, who is not a sans but a regular skeleton oc

Liff is actually a lot smarter than people give him credit for, he’s aware of what’s going on in the timelines and is pretty strong and is in the guard.

Emery is y’know, head of the guard. She recognized Liffs potential, helped and eventually let him in. She can be chill but she’s extremely excitable

Allie (Alphys) is the royal scientist, she has less anxiety but it’s still very evident due to her stutter, but unlike in undertale she actually had the confidence to ask out Emery (THEYRE ALWAYS CANON)

Asgore (alternate name coming eventually when I think of it) is still king, still a push over and over all basically the same except he will have design changes (he was too lovely to change tbh)

Aracni (Muffet) actually does run her own little bakery in snowdin, she’s married to Solace (grillby, because fuck you /j) and does help him run the bar on the side, she can be seen with him most days or in her bakery (you still have to fight her after Metta). Pebble works for her at the bakery

Metta and Napsty, still cousins, still slaying. But napsty has a robo body (courtesy of Allie)

Tem Tem is temmie.

Daisy is flowey.

Ceciel is Gaster but he’s more visible, cherry can see him more often, mainly in waterfall.

So I think a lot about how monster food is magical, and associated with green magic (healing) in particular. Anything you eat in the underground heals you at least a LITTLE (not counting the Bad Memory). Toriel’s pie— which is made with all the love of a mother, all the desire to protect of a grieving parent, all the skill of an experienced baker, and all the power of a Boss Monster— heals ALL your HP, no matter what. On the other hand, the instant noodles, which you (a human) cook yourself, heal… 4HP (not counting geno).

I’ve half-jokingly talked once before about how it makes sense that Alphys’ fake bathroom door might work as a cover for the lab even though it’s set up early in the game that monster food doesn’t “go all the way through you” because she eats human food from the dump. But I think there’s something to that.

However, that does beg the question of how monsters have a source of food to begin with. They definitely have a lot of ingredients that aren’t that easy to just find.* Undyne mentions buying pasta at the store in direct contrast to making the pasta at home, so there are obviously grocery stores beyond the shops we encounter. But where do those get their products?

I think that, aside from the fact that gardening (and therefore some degree of farming) is obviously a viable option (sunlight canonically in New Home, Asgore gardens, there’s lots of water in the underground, etc), and so people probably create more processed goods (like pasta, refined sugar, etc) themselves to sell, the obvious answer would be that a lot of it comes from the surface via the dump.

But then that circles back and confronts us with, “If so much of it is just human food products, then how is it magical and healing?” Well. I think I may have an answer. I believe it is a combination of passing through the barrier (made of powerful magic), being surrounded by all the ambient magic of the underground, and being prepared by magical beings via magical means. Allow me to elaborate. Intention is crucial to the outcome of something, in Undertale. It stands to reason, both by logic and by in-game data, that the same would be true with preparing food. Toriel’s pie heals so much because 1) she loves you and desperately wants to protect you, 2) she is a very powerful monster, 3) she made the pie herself, 4) she uses magic to cook. In contrast, the instant noodles heal you a little, and only because they exist underground and have passed through an extremely strong magical field. They heal you more in the bad route, when you don’t cook them. Cooking them, as a human (and an inexperienced child at that), actually diminishes their healing because we aren’t magic. Everything else (that’s actually food— I’m not counting Temmie Flakes because they’re cardboard, or Dog Salad because the Annoying Dog is literally the god of that universe) heals somewhere in between those because it was prepared/grown by magical beings in a magic-saturated environment.

(And even if it’s not consciously thought about, the intention when making any food, even if you’re going to sell it to strangers, is that the food will be nourishing. Feeding someone has always been associated with hospitality, with kindness. And therefore it’s fittingly associated with green magic, kindness, and healing. I digress.)

The instant noodles would probably heal more if Alphys cooked them, tbh. But even so, because they require such minimal preparation, and therefore minimal interaction from a monster, I think they’re the closest thing to true human food (that is, the least magical food shown in the game) that a monster could make. Yes pasta is just cooking noodles in hot water too, but 1) Undyne and Papyrus make their own sauce and 2) they both clearly have… very strong intentions even when they’re just boiling water.

SO! With this all being said. I think that because monster food heals you inherently, and the intention of the person who made the food would probably NOT be to hurt you, I don’t think allergies or food sensitivities would apply in the underground. I think that if you were deathly allergic to strawberries but Toriel made you a strawberry pie, I think you could eat it and be completely fine.

I was going to say that by this reasoning, lactose-intolerant people could eat all the Nice Cream they wanted, but then I realized that’s the case even if I’m wrong because it wouldn’t even get through your digestive system.

* ingredients that exist in the underground: Eggs (quiche, cinnamon bunnies, pasta, shown on MTT’s show), flour (pie, spider donut, bread, cinnamon bunnies, pasta, hotdog/hamburger buns, croissants), sugar (monster candy, spider donut, pie, cinnamon bunnies, bisicle, Nice Cream, powdered hot cocoa mix, soda, shown on MTT’s show, Starfait), milk (butterscotch, Nice Cream, shown on MTT’s show, Starfait), yeast (breads), tomatoes (and other vegetables), cinnamon (pie, cinnamon bunnies), potatoes(???) (popato chisps), chocolate (possibly a rarity— chocolate bar, powdered hot cocoa mix), some kind of meat alternative (Face Steak), local edible plants (water sausage, crab apple (said to be an aquatic fruit), whatever is brewed to make sea tea). They also obviously farm snails, though it seems only Toriel really ate those…? Still, the idea of farming bugs/molluscs/other invertebrates as food makes sense since they’re small and plentiful. I mean the spiders are already at it.

UnderLust Ramble Time (Main points/summary at bottom of post)

Okay so I looked back into it (because I drew Lust in my last post lol) and I still see the same issues and I'm gonna be honest. I'm pretty neutral about UL, they're just some silly guys, guys-

Well. No. Not just that but. That's why I'm rambling!

I am not siding with the original UL, its creator, or people who say it's problematic for the wrong reasons. I kinda have my own view of it, lemme explain:

Okay so people are saying it's problematic JUST because people are focusing on the sexual characteristic and that's all anyone sees it as.

But DustTale isn't problematic when people only see Murder as a crazed murderer without a heart. Which is completely untrue, did you know that? Broski's oddly chill y'know- Depends. De- Yeah it depends but he's not exactly out for bloodlust-

Okay I got side tracked

Anyways the point is unaliving people is BAD. Being overly sexual is...? Ehhh... Depends how you go about it (more on this later) BUT.

The reason I first heard/saw that UL was problematic was because of sexualized minors (Chara's design and not many people know this but Temmie is also a child) And... Eugh... Proshipping...

THOSE are the reasons it should be farted on 😭

Okay back to people only making it to be about sexy stuff.

I mean. When you don't count Mettaton's storyline. That's essentially what makes UL... Well? UL. This is the wrong reason to hate on it, it's literally in the name, it's supposed to be lusty and if people overdo it, just take it as thier interpretation/variation.

Same way people interpret Dust as a mindless power hungry murderer, it's not right, or canon at all, doesn't mean it's wrong, just how someone sees it.

Now I suppose it's chill with me and a lot of other people to explore Ess/Ayy and what it does to someone's mental health and their relationships with others. Plus other topics related to a sexual environment, but there's a line where it's okay and where it's messed up (Some Random Examples, But There's More: Say a victim "falls in love" with their perpetrator, ew, no, just no- Say, a victim is learning to cope and recover, yes, just yes.)

So yeah! It's nice we have an AU/Concept that gives us the grounds to do that!

It's irritating sure but there's good content, look for that instead. I don't think we should shun the idea of anything as long as its basis isn't something disgusting?

Guys lust is in our nature as primarily sexual beings. (I know fellow Aces, I know, hold on, I love you too but this post isn't the time 😭)

I don't think anything natural is completely "disgusting" as long as you don't go about it the wrong way, then it becomes disgusting (Say, pedophilia is p much a disorder, some people get help, some people get arrested, that's the difference)

UnderLust could very well be like some sex club in Hell or basic UnderTale with slightly sexual undertones, there's middle ground guys, over sexualizing it can be bad, move on and focus on the good people do for this universe

Now, I'm an Ink kinnie so I love creation, I adore it. I hate to shut down a concept just because it's taboo or the creator/s didn't turn out so good. Make something wonderful instead of shutting it down for the problems it has in OTHER people's hands. It's our jobs as a creator to give life to these sillies as long as we're invested, and if someone does a bad job, that doesn't mean you or someone else can't have something good made in place of it.

Love the concept, don't mind the creator.

Love the children, not their parents.

Main points for those who didn't wanna read too much because let's be honest, I talk A LOT:

UL is not problematic because of being overly sexual, that's literally its nature

UL doesn't have to be overly sexual, just because it's common, doesn't mean it's hopeless, there's good content and you can contribute to it

UL is problematic because of sexualization of minors and proshipping if I recall correctly

UL gives us grounds to explore Ess/Ayy, sexuality, lack of it, hypersexuality, etc... it's how you go about it that matters

(I think I lost a bullet point but I can't remember what it said)

Don't turn it down for what it is or what it commonly is interpreted as, give it life for what it could be

For ANY Content Out There: Adore the creation/concept, you don't have to like the creator, or the original.

Cellbit and Jaiden are tied for me and Roier is a close second <3 I also enjoy Phil POV but that's just because I like watching Phil streams in general, not because of his qsmp character specifically (then again the others have also become some of my favourite streamers outside of qsmp too. Jaiden doesn't stream that much sadly (which is fine I'm not faulting her for that) but Cellbit & Roier are so fun to watch even if I can barely understand them a lot of the time! entertainment transcends the language barrier LOL)

anon i am [insert phrase with the same sentiment as “kissing you on the mouth” but without the weird connotations]. also everyone needs kitten seam

all right so here’s the basis for those of you who didn’t see the first post:

this is yet another deltarune swap au. i’ve decided to call it “mage from the dark” since the first characters i sketched out in it were seam and ralsei (who are swapped).

seam is a young plush cat (kitten) who lives a lonely life of wishing to be loved like plushies are supposed to be. sure, seam finds ways to pass the time—knitting, sewing, crocheting, collecting things, making tea, practicing magic, failing to learn how to grill—but it’s a dull life. then, finally, the other heroes of light arrive in ruintown: a warrior and a boss monster.

undyne, the warrior, was once eager to prove herself, but has spent her whole life unintentionally intimidating the people she was trying to impress. as a result, she’s embraced this persona, getting into fights and trouble, and often assuming a hostile front. coming face to face with the same childhood friend who abandoned her when something better came along doesn’t help matters, especially since she’s living the comfortable life undyne secretly wishes for. but a part of her still longs to be a hero like in the comic books of deceased writer w.d. gaster…

toriel, the boss monster, is the daughter of schoolteacher mx. kris dreemurr. she’s faced a lot of scorn for being raised by a human (since everyone’s too scared to say that stuff to mx. dreemurr’s face). she found solace in puns, and in her uncle asriel, who she was very close with from their unique shared circumstance of being a boss monster with a human family member. however, kris and asriel had a falling out a couple years back, and he moved out of their house, now working and living in his videogame shop. at least she still has her partner, asgore—but ever since he left for college, toriel’s started to wonder if it’s meant to be. isolated from her peers and doubting her relationships, toriel wished there was someone to tell her what to do, and, well...

it didn’t go as planned.

that’s the main trio, plus hints at some of the others! here’s some other swaps:

the rest of the class is alphys (noelle), mettaton (berdly), papyrus (jockington), carol (mk), sans (catti), maddy (snowy), and napstablook (temmie). there are actual reasons for these decisions, which i will share if pressed.

rudy is swapped with chara, alphys’s godparent and azzy’s best friend, who’s currently in the hospital after a childhood sickness came back.

dess is swapped with goner kid. they’re alphys’s auncle, who disappeared when she was a kid. (this is reminding me how messed up canon noelle’s life is.)

the castle kingdom was once ruled by ralsei, benevolent prince, but after the lightners abandoned the world, he felt he had failed his subjects and stepped down, instead working as an advisor to the new rulers. these were clover, starwalker, mr. society, and jigsaw joe, so as to represent four of the main residents of the kingdom: cards, stickers, chess pieces, and puzzles. (the other groups wisely chose to stay out of the politics.) the starwalker later adopted a ward, after no one wanted to claim a suitless card, who was a young jester named jevil. at first, starwalker attempted to bond with the boy, but its grumpy nature and general lack of motivation made it a somewhat neglectful parent, often handing jevil off to tutorial-maker queen. queen knew what it was to not fit in; although she’d formed an alliance with cards from the spades suit, she never truly belonged among the toys, considering she was a laptop (albeit with child restrictions set on her). as a result, queen tried to be a good mother figure to jevil, and the fact that it got her in the starwalker’s good graces didn’t hurt either—she was always eager to please others.

ralsei didn’t particularly mind his new role—he had a new friend now, after all. lancer, the jack of spades, was hired by clover to be the court party planner, and was known for his salsa, beanies, and hole-digging skills. but after a strange old turtle appeared on the horizon, lancer and ralsei began to drift apart. lancer stopped pestering ralsei to come on motorcycle rides, and to his surprise, ralsei missed those days, terrifying as they had been. and then lancer began to change. his humor got darker yet darker, his pranks became less harmless, his magic grew stronger. then, suddenly, he was back in ralsei’s life like he’d never left—telling him about a new "evil plan.” but unlike previous such plans, this one was frightening and unsettling. lancer spoke of a plan to create a world without a purpose, where everything was meaningless, and then, one day, to suddenly end it all. at first, ralsei laughed it off, but the more lancer spoke of this plan, the more ralsei’s anxiety grew, and the more he suspected his friend wasn’t joking.

and then it got worse.

it really shouldn’t have come as a surprise when the rulers of the land ordered ralsei to lock lancer away... but it was the first time the former prince had truly regretted giving up his power. ralsei won the battle, but was devastated, and not just physically. unable to bear living at the castle any longer, he turned in his resignation and set up a small, peaceful shop, as far away as he could manage. but even so, he could never forget lancer’s words, nor the undeniable truth he had felt in them. and so, quietly, he waited for the world to end.

oh yeah, and then one day a strange knight appeared and the starwalker locked the other rulers in the dungeon and hired queen as the duchess of puzzles, despite her insistence she had no puzzlemaking programs.

meanwhile in the cybere city...

after a lightner accidentally took him away from his home, rouxls kaard has lived a vastly different life. he somehow managed to instate himself as the rouxler of the cybere worlde, because really, what is code but rules? he hired a cd player named k_k as his head butler, and speaker system sweet as his head of security, because the two of them were among the first to treat him with reverence—and to think, back home they’d never even respected him! yeah, he’d show that god damn(it) starwalker what he was made of. for a while, he was a fairly decent ruler—but after the knight came to visit, rouxls’s perspective began to change.

of course, people had problems with this. mainly, a trio of artists: tasque manager, spamton g. spamton, and swatch, or as they liked to call themselves, tasque spam’n swatch. the three of them attempted to start a rebellion. it has decidedly not been working, but heck, they’re dedicated!

(yes, cap’n is spamton. i’m still working out the details with that—and trying to figure out what berdly’s version of neo would be.)

If you were a human, and by some miracle happened to be Lev’s friend, how would he treat you? Would he not eat you, or eat you with consent? Would he still want you to be scared/unwilling? Would he eat you if you asked? Would he try to comfort you if you needed it? Sorry for all the questions, but he’s my favorite in widfali, and I really wanna know.

I was awfully tempted to say "hoi" like Temmy from Undertale and I'm sorry. ANYWHO, this is a very interesting question for Lev. So without going too much into spoiler territory as this will be mentioned later, LEV, would still be flirtatious, but whether or not he'd eat you is-well, a complicated question. Most likely, no, unless he was lacking options and you were nearby. He wouldn't care for the fearful aspect of it much, but I'd imagine he also wouldn't care if you were willing or unwilling to him doing it. You'd be safe, if you were his friend. He would comfort you in his own way, which will be explained more later with his cultural stuff and more of his backstory. (SO I'M SORRY HOW MUCH I'D LOVE TO DO A WHOLE ANALYSIS, It happens to be really important to him in it. So I cannot go into a LOT of detail. Was just thinking about how in C2 DELTARUNE theres a door in queens palace that leads to a room queen designed for asriel but kris wont let us, the player, see it. And that got me thinking, so I thought I'd share the fan theory that came out of it. I'm not fully convinced by this since we'd need more information but I think it logically follows and I'd like to share. So, stop reading past this point for major spoilers of secret stuff and easter eggs.

In chapter 1, theres a lot of talk around town about asriel, his friends who haven't gone to college yet, or aren't going to, miss him and tell us a lot about him. About how he was helpful, kind, supportive, he easily made friends with everyone. Kris doesnt have many friends their age because they were always following Asriel around. We know that Asriel is supposed to be coming home from college soon in a week, and each chapter is roughly a day so we're counting down to Asriel coming home.

I'd like to also preface with the observation that Gaster, or atleast the goners seem very present in the light world around hometown. Temmie has an egg which they say is their partner, which seems like a call back to the hard boiled egg in undertale, but what if instead, it's the man behind the tree seen later in the dark world which is the only source of eggs as an item. Theres also the striped bird in the library, which greatly resembles a goner from undertale.

And lastly, near the bunker that you cant enter, if kris stands near it in chapter 1, it begins playing ominous music which has been associated with Gaster.

Now that we've got all that out of the way, I'd like to pose a question: what if something happened to Asriel?

What if something happened to asriel when they last came back from college, leading to asriel dying, potentially near the bunker? And kris, so distraught was willing to do everything in their power to undo it? We can see gasters tendrils through the light world, especially concentrating around the bunker. If he reached out to kris or vice versa, and kris begged them to fix it, gaster could have made a faustian bargain with them, and taught them how to open dark worlds that are manipulated by his desire when he opens them, and he could create a vessel for Asriel. But in the meantime, Kris needed to incubate asriel, or the cost of plucking asriels soul from the aether was kris's soul, and we're playing as Asriel possessing kris. And Ralsei is the intended vessel, extra indicated by the heart on ralseis robes. Kris might be avoiding developing feelings for ralsei as an individual knowing what the outcome will be, but needs Asriel to love Ralsei to cement the connection later, assuming love of the vessel, something mentioned very early into the vessel creation, could be what ties a soul to a new body. It also makes ralseis name make more sense.

I feel like kris and Ralsei are indeed up to something that we dont know about, considering Ralsei talked to kris in the cutscene without us knowing what they said. And from spamton we know that lightner souls are powerful, and if [heaven] is the light world, then a lightner soul could make a darkner into a lightner.

It could also add an extra level of horror to the genocide and snowgrave situations, considering that kris didn't know his brother was capable of that kind of evil, and that maybe subverting the natural law was a mistake, asriel becoming a vengeful wraith, lashing out at being denied peace and destroying kris' life, not remembering who they were.

If pacifist it also makes sense how easily we the player befriend everyone. It's incredibly out of character for kris, but not for asriel. And why kris' room in the dark world looks more like asriels side of the room which makes me think that if true, Ralsei may be in on his own annihilation. Because darkners are meant to serve a purpose and cant deviate beyond reasonable limitations. And to come full circle, maybe the reason kris is hiding things about asriel from the player is that the player is asriel, and if that realization comes to early, we'd be lost as we completely disassociate from kris.

And it would also tie into the themes of overcoming loss present in undertale. In undertale it was Asriel who couldnt accept charas death and everything was set in motion by his inability to accept her death or harm others, and everything ended when she possessed frisk and led him to help asriel overcome his grief. This time it would be charas counterpart, kris, unable to accept his brothers death, and brought him back, willing to sacrifice as many other people as it takes to regain what was lost.

Like I said I'm not completely sold on this yet but I thought it was interesting and would fill in some holes left by the story so far. We'll need more information to verify but it definitely seems like something toby would do, based on undertale. We'll have to see how it shakes out.
