"i told you, i got caught up in a fence when i was sneaking out away from hogsmeade today."

"you might get away with lies like that when you're telling them to remus, james or peter, but not me." she didn't look at him. "i'm not fooled that easily, and i think we've done enough shit together to know when you're lying or not, sirius."

sirius covered his eyes with the heels of his palms and chuckled quietly. "you won't believe me if i'll tell you."

marlene laughed, pushing her bangs out of her eyes. "i have four brothers. believe me, nothing is actually impossible. now, say goodbye to the lame excuse of," she air-quoted, "i got caught up in a fence when i was sneaking out away from hogsmeade today, and tell me what happened."

"promise you won't laugh." he pointed a finger to her, and she noticed that his black nail polish was chipped. marlene made a mental note to give him some to fix them. "you know what? save it. don't promise me anything. i know you'll laugh either because you think it's funny or just to spite me, so there's no point in trying."

she threw her hands up, clutching the cloth in her hand. "okay, you caught me. go on."

"it is, actually, a hogsmeade escapade story."

"cut the bullshit!" she exclaimed, lightly shoving him.

"it was!" he said, laughing. "i snuck out with remus and we were snogging down an alleyway near scrivenshafts and i heard some footsteps and i could make out the sounds of my brother's expensive shoes so, naturally, i didn't want him to see me snogging some bloke, and one of my best friends, while we're at that, so we ran off, but i got caught in some bush and i fell to my knees-"

"has not! you're just jealous because i have a boyfriend and you're still single," sirius teased her, wiggling himself in her direction.

and she really wished for that, deep within her, and she looked up to him, beaming. sirius smiled back, lopsided and full of secrets.

after reading your HMMK/Susato analysis post, I think that's part of why I love that Susato and Ryuu found each other- she's finally got someone who understands and responds to the devotion and care she shows her loved ones <3 and why I teared up more than a little when they were forced apart for six months. and I imagine the fact that Ryuu couldn't lie to Susato if his life depended on it helps

It must be such a breath of fresh air compared to Susato's more reserved relationships with her father and Kazuma, and whenever I see them interact with one another, I'm always like, "this is what love looks like!! In whatever form it may be, this is love!!!" I love them. They're so important. When Susato had to leave, I was devastated. And so was Ryuunosuke, and that's what it's all about, baby!!! Him calling her "the best judicial assistant in the world" had me on the floor, God. It's not even that he physically can't lie to her (so many tells. So, so many.), it's that he simply won't. hi maria!! do you think id enjoy vinland saga? your posting abt it has intrigued me :)

Im probably biased because i just want more people to watch vinland saga and i love it sooo much, it meant a lot to me, personally. I think its very well written, every scene has a purpose, things that seem irrelevant in the beggining get recontextualized as you know the characters better. For some people it may be harder to connect with the main character in the first season because hes very static for that part of the story but thats kind of the point? It can be frustrating seeing thorfinn keep going down a certain path but its very important for his development later on and i think its also a very realistic depiction of trauma. Vinland is very realistic in general, its a historical drama about a very violent society and it doesnt shy away from that, it can be very brutal and hard to watch at times. Its very much concerned with how growing up in a violent environment affects your development in a myriad of ways. Another aspect of the series that i love is the political intrigue and scheming that some characters get up to, particularly in the second half of both seasons, the characters are very smart and all their decisions have layers to them. I think the show also finds a balance between having very cool fun fights while still showing that there isnt glory in fighting, its the best of both worlds in that sense. Basically, i think its very good kzjsmzksms but that doesn't necessarily mean that everyone will like it, i can see some people having a hard time connecting with thorfinn, but its definitely worth it sticking with the series. I cant recommend it enough!

#saw the post the other day about horror movies reflecting the greatest fears of society at the current time #..... it was so ouuugh #anyway zombie movies. fear of infection and pandemic type situations obviously #but also. a running thread in all Zombie Media ™ since forever has been like. someone you love got bitten and now u have to kill them etc #i think that's really interesting because it also ties into another thing about zombies: fear of being changed‚ involuntary #does the zombie know what it used to be? is the hunger filling an otherwise blank mind? #or is it just strong enough to override everything else? #what would that feel like though. both possibilities are unsettling because in case 1 you Die by most definitions #and something else looks like you and pilots your body around #actually that is very similar to imposter horror innit. ''guy in the team who got bitten but doesn't tell anyone until its too late'' #and in case 2.... ooooihhhhhhh that's so much worse <3 you're alive you just can't do anything about it. just hungry #and now onto the third fear associated with zombie horror (and my favourite): the fear of being hunted‚ on a wide scale #think abt it. it's unclear whether humans actually count as apex predators. but population-wise we don't actually have A Specific Animal #- that hunts us #and that's not because we are fast or have sharp teeth or are adapted hunters. that's just because we're great at living in a society #and zombies are A Predator on a significant scale and we are NOT prepared for it #beecaaauusee--- [dramatic crescendo] they will exploit the *very* thing that made us so invincible in the first place!! 💞 #one of the first signs of civilization is healed bones. cured sickness. #a human seeing another human looking sick/injured and immediately rushing to help. is a big part of why we've made it this far #zombies have our faces!!! they know how to walk and unlock doors and climb the stairs to our buildings #AND. AND. they're people you think you know. back again to the killing a loved one thing #that's so BRILLIANT as a tactic because the societal tactics that make people group together will now make them reluctant to kill zombies #WHICH IS WHY most media tries to dehumanize zombies in some way to make it easier. ohhhh they grunt and can't talk. they're slow. #they don't feel anything. they are not the person they look like. they're not even people. the alternative is much much worse #and i need it explored. what if they can run. what if they beg and plead that they're still the same person. what if they scream. #what if they say ''sorry i love you so much im sorry'' at the end. etc
