For The Forgotten Ones is completed, I haven’t read the final chapter yet because I wanted to finish this first

Buddy thank you so much for this wonderful story, I know I keep saying it but it genuinely changed my life. I hadn’t been in the Undertale fandom since about 2017, it was my first fandom experience so it was very special to me, but I left it far behind. at the start of this year I stumbled upon Calcium-cat’s comic based on the first chapter, and I found my way to this fic and read I think seven chapters in one night LOL. I had to stop because it was so late, but afterwards I sat in the dark of my room and just, felt. this fic felt like the peak of the old Undertale fandom, it was almost overwhelming (in the best way). all these emotions and this energy that I hadn’t felt in years all came rushing back it was like magic. like rediscovering the meaning of life. I know that sounds ridiculous and cheesy but Undertale genuinely made me who I am, it was my first fandom, drew my first fanart and wrote my first fan fiction and went to my first con and made friends and discovered this whole community that made me feel like me. and this story is interwoven with all of that. it feels like Home.

because of this fic I gained the motivation to create SO MUCH art, my skills have developed so much and I genuinely love my art now when I didn’t really before. I’ve found my style bc of you :) I’ve also gained an actual following now that continues to grow which is a dream come true since I first joined the internet. and I’ve made so many wonderful friends, I’ve got a group that came together bc of this fic and they’re all such wonderful people that I may never have met otherwise.

I’ve still got so many screenshots and ideas to draw for this fic so I’ll be appreciating it for a long time still, but this is a thank you, a gift and an appreciation for all that you’ve done. you consistently uploaded a sizeable chapter EVERY WEEK which is INSANE, your dedication is so inspiring. you created a beautiful world and characterized all these popular characters so well, especially when mischaracterizations have become the fandom canon atp (looks at Swap Sans,,,) you did so much. you created a family we all adored, we laughed and cried and prayed and joked and created this wonderful community within a wonderful community just to appreciate your words. truly effing masterful. I love For The Forgotten Ones, I will print it out into a book someday soon, to put it on my shelf where I can see it always. Thank you thank you thank you I’ve said so many words and still I feel I have not expressed the depths of my feelings

Some of the TMNT fandom (and, frankly, society) really ain't shit.🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

These ladies are female protagonists in their respective franchises. All of them have different body types that contrast from the default thin, petite body type that we're used to seeing. And all of them are BEAUTIFUL! 💖

Three of these ladies became love interests that ended up in healthy relationships with partners who love them for who they are. Also, four of them are women of color. (idk if Fiona counts. While she is green, she started off white so... 50/50? 🤷🏾‍♀️) That part is especially relevant to this post because Twitter got me EFFED UP. I'M ON ONE, ON TWO, ON THREE TODAY!

So the concept art of Mutant Mayhem's April O'Neil was revealed by James A. Castillo, an artist who worked on the movie.

And people are DRAGGING HIM LEFT AND RIGHT! Being disrespectful to both him and April's design. I can tell you right now not even a third of those quotes aren't positive! There is a vast difference between criticism and insults:

💛"I do not like this design. Besides the color yellow and her red/ginger hair, she simply doesn't read as April O'Neil." That's criticism. This expresses disproval of the design without any vulgarities.

💔"Rethink your entire career. "Artist" my ass! This shit is garbage! She looks like she sleeps in a van and smokes so much weed she reeks of it. You failed." That's disrespect. And I don't think I need to tell you why.

Normally, I tend not to discuss such sensitive topics on my blog (religion, politics, discrimination of ANY kind, etc.) for my sanity and out of respect for others with opposing views. But today, I will make an exception.

I would love to include Luisa, who alongside April was mocked and disrespected heavily for her appearance, but I wanted to speak on this matter from the perspective of a plus-sized African American woman. Luisa comes from an completely different background whose culture and standards I am not entirely familiar with. I can't speak on what I don't know. Respectfully.💜

In the black community, women are faced with colorism, texturism, constant comparison, and body image negativity on a daily basis. And a good amount of it comes from our own community! Our shade, our 4C hair, our weight, our attractiveness, our lifestyle! It's brutal out here!😭😭😭

However, in terms of media a plus-sized black girl is seen as ghetto, loud, and undesirable with a side of attitude. The best example I can think of is Dijonay from The Proud Family.

This is the show I grew up on! The theme song, the characters, the Suga Mama, ICONIC! I love Dijonay to pieces, but as I grew up I realize that she was, in some aspects, a negative portrayal. She was always chasing instead of being "the chase". She was a horrible friend to Penny. And she sucumbed to a lot of negative stereotypes with barely any redeeming qualities. And this was very disheartening considering that she was the darkest one in the group. And the heaviest. And as a little chubby wubby in the 2000s with THIS as my representation? I have to give the writers a bit of the side eye. Was she any better in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder? To that I would say.... meh. I love her in the reboot, but they could do so much more with her in my opinion. I still haven't seen them address the issue of colorism. 👀

While she is not a human, Gloria is voiced by a black woman (Jada Pinkett Smith) and imitates the sass of a black woman so... yeah. She's included. Gloria was persued by two men. One was the suave, flexing hippo Motto Motto. And the other was her friend/neighbor from her childhood Melman. She chose the latter for good reason of course. Now in Madagascar, Gloria wasn't mocked or criticized for her weight. In fact, hippos are known for their weight. However, she was seemingly fetishized for it. By Motto Motto to be exact. And being fetishized is NOT better than being ridiculed.

Unlike Dijonay, April was the chase, a love interest for Leonardo. I admit, I was SHOCKED that she was gonna be persued. Let alone that the writers wanted to try another Turtle/April pairing considering how April and Donnie went...😬. Now her backlash was on a completely different level. One that I wasn't even prepared for....

While Gloria and Dijonay are original characters, Mutant Mayhem's April O'Neil is a different interpretation of the character that has existed since the 80's. The same can be said for the Turtles, Splinter, literally everybody else! Every show and movie for that matter! And with every story, she changes. Design, motivation, relationships/dynamics, even race as of lately. All of it changes. And change isn't bad. In my opinion, it keeps things fresh and interesting instead of spoon feeding us the same story and concepts over and over again. Change challenges us. Change motivates us. However, some people don't like change nor want to accept it and adjust. And that's life. That's just the way it is. But change is necessary in order to progress.

She wasn't bad in the movie AT ALL. I absolutely adored her! And the dynamic between her and Leo wasn't akward or uncomfortable at all. It was handled really well. Ayo Ediberi did an incredible job bringing her to life! (GOD, I loved her in The Bear! Shameless plug lol)

That being said, I understand some of the sensitivity that fans have when a character changes so drastically you can barely recongnize them anymore beyond the bare minimun. (See also Sonic Boom's Knuckles) But the blatant discrimination, rude comments, and the boldness, THE AUDACITY, that some of these nasty Twitter fingers with their dirty fingernails have to type such disrespect to the artist that I can't repeat up here was wild af. Like, I can't believe we have to share a planet with some of them! Uggh!😷(But that's Twitter 24/7 so what's new?) Her and Rise April don't deserve the hate they get. You don't have to like them. Art is subjective. But to insult and harrass the artists and the people who look like the characters, then mask it under the umbrella of "tHaTs mY oPiNiOn" is 🐱. I said what I said. And I will say that shit again.

Also, just because she's black doesn't mean we can't have another white April O'Neil ever again. We know goodness well they could make another iteration of TMNT and make her white if they wanted to. Heck, I encourage them to explore other races and cultures too! New York is full of them! And it's not like all the other versions of April up and vanished. You can watch them anytime on Hulu, Netflix, Paramount Plus, etc.

One more point I'd like to make is that I am an African American woman who is currently on a weight loss journey. As a plus-sized girl, I had incredibly low self-esteem and picked up toxic, unhealthy eating habits from starving myself to overeating BECAUSE I starved myself. Also, I have experienced both sides from being disrespected and made fun of to being complimented and persued. I was at my biggest weight 2 years ago and I have made incredible progress to lose weight since then. People can lose weight. It is achievable! I went to school with some people who were way bigger than me that lost the weight by senior year! Just because she's big in this movie doesn't mean she can't lose weight by the sequel. Like I've said before, it's not wrong to encourage health and fitness!💪🏾 In life, they call this a glow up. A "remember how you treated them in high school" type of comeback. People can, and are allowed to, change. And it's not wrong to embrace your body and the skin you're in. It's all relative!💖

This post isn't to convince you to change your mind. And it won't make the bullies go away. I can't change the world overnight, nor am I trying to. At the end of the day, you're the consumer. It's your choice. Your prefrence. I can't tell you how to think.

I just wanted to spread a bit of awareness that plus sized people exist. And they will always exist. Everyone is deserving of representation in media in all facets. No matter their shape, size, shade, or sexuality. There are so many people from different walks of life who deserve to be seen and on screen. And the amount of visibility for black girls this year alone is amazing! And I want the same for other women of color, too!

Don't let this trash ass society and the people in it who prefer AI/robots over human beings, fake over real, and bad over good tell you otherwise. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. YES I AM TALKING TO YOU. YOU ARE AMAZING! YOU DESERVE ALL THE GOOD THINGS IN LIFE AND MORE. YOUR STORY CAN CHANGE LIVES. BEING A GOOD, HARD WORKING PERSON DOES PAY OFF IN THE LONG RUN! YOU ABSOLUTELY MATTER IN THIS LIFE AND THE NEXT. WE SEE YOU. I SEE YOU. AND I ADORE YOU. RAISE YOUR SELF ESTEEM, ADJUST YOUR CROWN, WEAR IT PROUD, AND DO YOUR BEST!

I’ve had this one on my radar for a hot minute, because Anais Mitchell’s Young Man in America is literally about Doffy, like it’s just too perfect. I’ve also really really wanted to do a DoffyxReader because he’s such an evil piece of shit and love is so not conducive to that so what would a relationship look like? I think I did a decent job :)

It was the first thing you’d noticed when you’d taken his order. White teeth, and eyes that continually circled the room even under his bright glasses, and an impossibly wide grin. He must have liked the drinks (extra shot, not too much ice—you knew how to ply the dangerous ones), because he kept ordering them, and after the fourth or fifth round his hand was on your wrist, tugging you down onto the couch next to him to brag into your ear.

“She was a celestial dragon, y’know,” The man commented lazily. “Both of my parents were.” His voice should have been slurred, interspersed with hiccups. But he spoke as though he’d never had a drink in his life, and watching those white, white teeth move made you wonder what they’d feel like scraping your neck. Despite yourself.

You never slept with clients.

Apparently you joined their crews though.

Doflamingo’s arm rested idly around your shoulders as he led you to the ship—which was decorated with a massive flamingo motif, as ostentatious as he was. His crew followed, most of them as tall as Doflamingo, just as threatening. The brown-haired one with a sword leered incessantly at you. The blond in the black coat refused to even meet your eyes.

“You made the right choice, little bartender,” Doflamingo was saying, that signature self-assured smile painting his lips. “I’ll be a shichibukai soon enough. You’ll have every privilege in the world as long as you stay loyal to me. Can you handle that, dove?”

And your mind was so addled, filled with the scent of him, the warmth of his coat, the twinge in your neck as you craned up to look at him.

You’d sworn your loyalty right then and there.

And he had rewarded you.

Like the wind I make my moan

There's a hollow in my bones

It had been strange, that first night with him. He had never taken off his glasses, had left that coat of his spread on the bed like a security blanket. There had been something almost childish in it. But then he had pinned you with his massive, decidedly adult form and traced over your body with his massive hands and his long, wet tongue and yes—those perfect teeth—and soon you were writhing and bucking on the bed, tears blurring the corners of your vision. You’d covered your mouth with a pillow as he pushed into you for the first time, and he’d yanked it off again.

“You think I give a shit if my crew hears you? Moan for me. Let’s keep them up all night.”

And you would have preferred to keep your voice muffled—you didn’t even know the names of the rest of the crew, after all—but he threw the pillow to the ground before you could protest, and you were groaning together before you knew it, scrabbling helplessly along his body, and he’d laughed as he brought you again and again to each earth-shaking climax, and no good person could possibly make you cum like that…

But all the same, you couldn’t imagine yourself ever leaving that bed.

Doffy (as he’d insisted you call him) had a taste for the best, and when he didn’t have the berries he would simply take his favorite pieces. You’d learned to fight with throwing knives simply to pin retail workers to the wall and make it easier for your lover to take what he wanted. Silk, fur, linen, feathers, leather shoes and satin ties, always the best of the best. You quickly learned not to look the employees in the eye, especially when one of your knives pierced more than clothes. A glance at those invariably tear-stained, reddened faces and you’d be sick for the rest of the day, confined to days of insomnia afterward. So you focused on Doffy, impossibly handsome Doffy, his new clothes and the way they draped his chiseled frame. Every shopping trip, he’d toss a 50,000 berry evening gown or jacket or skirt your way and insist you take it home.

They always looked beautiful on you.

They always made you sick when you wore them.

Envy me, envy me

And people did, although it was more than simply pride that led your Doffy to his fashion choices.

Spending all my bright money

You were amazed at how easy it was for him to attract lower-level crew with nothing but a designer shirt. It was strange the way people craved that kind of luxury, as much of a facade as it was (the crew’s headquarters were dusty and grey) and yet people kept joining.

You supposed you couldn’t be too surprised. You of all people knew that Doffy had a way of sweeping you off your feet, regardless of whether you wanted those huge arms carrying you off or not.

Bright capris, silk ties, millions of berries’ worth taken with a wiggle of his fingers.

And yet, with you he wore a simple pair of cotton sleep pants, less than 500 berries. The only thing he seemed to feel comfortable in, you noticed. After all, no one else ever saw them.

Well.

No one but

Maybe I could climb the stairs

With a girl of golden hair

Hold her like a sword and shield

Up against this lonely world

Corazon.

Doflamingo’s right hand man and little brother. The only person Doffy truly seemed to trust. Corazon’s opinion—scribbled silently onto scrap paper instead of spoken—was the first that Doflamingo sought. Late nights could often find the brothers sitting in the kitchen in silence, sipping tea, and early mornings might find them together in the rigging, Doffy’s strings keeping his clumsy younger brother from falling. Corazon was the closest thing Doffy knew to peace.

It’s a lonely, lonely world

For a yellow-headed girl

And a young man

So after you all stood in the snow and heard the words “Commander Rosinante”, after you felt the earth vibrate with Doffy’s gunshots, after your vision clouded with tears despite yourself, after your footprints in the snow led away from the bloody corpse of Doflamingo’s ex first mate… Doffy was different.

He held you harder, now, but not to protect you. His fingers gripped into your shoulders hard enough to bruise, his eyes under those glasses were constantly trained on you, and in bed you were lucky if he’d give you a few inches of space.

It was not love.

It was a warning.

Do what Corazon did, and your punishment will be worse.

My father was a lord of land

My daddy was a repo man

Put me out onto the street

Didn't give a damn for me

Did not give a damn

After Corazon, Doffy spoke to you differently as well. He was angrier, quicker to accuse you of everything from theft to espionage, and strangest of all he began to tell you about his past. His father. Growled, almost threatening whispers in your ear as he lay behind you at night, his coat draped loosely around you both.

“He ruined my life, y/n.”

“I’d still be a celestial dragon if it weren’t for that piece of human shit.”

“Corazon and I were starving, y/n. For years.”

“If it weren’t for my father’s influence, Corazon would still be alive, you know.”

“Believe me, y/n. I had no choice. The man had to die.”

And you’d nodded, because what other option did you have? And you’d tried to control your breathing as much as you could (please be calm please stay calm) because you could feel those beautiful shiny teeth on the back of your neck, because for the first time you could sense the nature of this man beside you, the man you’d tied your fate to, the man you hated to admit you loved. A twist of his fingers and your throat would be cut, and Doffy wouldn’t even bother to bury your body.

Daddy, daddy, gonna wish you never had me

I'm a young man

And his blond hair had poked the back of your neck like straw as he’d dug his nails into your hip hard enough to bleed, and he’d whispered—

“My little dove. How lucky I am to have you.”

Mmm, a little medicine

(Lil A/N: I wrote this partially to explore what it’s like to be in a relationship with a narcissist, something I unfortunately experienced for many years. That constant tingle at the back of your neck, waiting for the next argument, planning the order of your words hours in advance… I think that’s what being in love with Doffy would be like. Frightening and hollow with some of the most beautiful days of your life interspersed. Would love to hear thoughts on this if anyone has their own opinions!)

The Dadrius fandom is also sleeping on the affectionate name GREMLIN like I don't care if it's interpreted in the same vein as "little shit(affectionate)" (but for witches) or if it's a legit term of endearment like "kiddo" EITHER WAY GUYS PLEASE GREMLIN FITS THEIR DYNAMIC SO WELL AND IT'S SO EFFING CUTE I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL (I saw it once in a fanfic and I completely forget which one but it's been stuck in the forefront of my one hyper fixating brain cell ever since)

Oh, I've seen it before!!! Mostly as the first one, but it would be kinda cute if it were an endearment for kids, and not gonna lie, I could see that being a thing on the Boiling Isles on behalf of being... well, the Boiling Isles.

I unfortunately also have forgotten in which fics I have seen it because I have the memory of a goldfish, but honestly? I kinda want to incorporate it as well now because the way it sounds, it's a very properly affectionate nickname while still sounding teasing, which feels ideal for their dynamic.

Don't get me, I'm a sucker for Darius just going "sweetheart" and "love" and all those sugary terms of endearment, but I do think he tends to go for those when: 1) He's trying to comfort Hunter or calm him down from a panic attack 2) He's feeling particularly soft at the moment, and 3) It just slipped out because his mind was occupied with something else or he was distracted and what not.

It's not what he wouldn't be sweet to Hunter because he probably gathers Hunter does need that softness, and I always think he would be softer on Hunter than on anyone else, but Darius seems to be the kind of person who pretty much expresses his affection by teasing others and being a bit of a little shit about it, just like he accuses others of being.

I think Hunter would enjoy being called "gremlin" too because it puts him in the same category as Eberwolf (which is to say, family-category), and because once he realizes that Darius genuinely loves him, he would be so smug about it. Very "oh, yeah, I'm a gremlin, but you love me anyway, don't you?"

ouattober2023 Day 6: Fav Rarepair

Red Warrior (aka Mulan Rouge, fandom, it was right there, come on)

The gif speaks for itself already, Do I need to say more? No. Will I? Absolutely.

Back in S2 I was very happy. I had Sleeping Warrior to ship and also Red Beauty. Two good ships. But over the years there was the question "what if Mulan and Ruby ever met?". It seemed like a fun constellation. The honorable warrior, serious, focused, happily doing her duty. And the werewolf waitress who effortlessly talks to people, who can be mean if need be (and the full moon is out). Imagine Ruby showing Mulan around Storybrooke. She'd have her start her own gym so fast. (After being teased for so long, somebody should have taken Mulan to Storybrooke and let her watch a film already.)

I watched S5 spoiler free. No promos. It's fun. But there is always the guest cast list and seeing the names Jamie Chung and Meghan Ory when The Bear King started? EXCITEMENT! I was then mesmerized by the Mulan&Merida scenes, I almost forgot I was waiting to see Ruby again. And oh boy, THE WOLF! Once again foiled with magic, but that was okay. When Mulan arrives at the Witch's Hut next? A different kind of magic happening indeed...

Meet Cute noun; (in a film or television programme) an amusing or charming first encounter between two characters that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them.

Yep, I'd say Mulan almost getting attacked saying "you're not a wolf" with a big smile "you just need a little help remembering who you are", then splashing that potion to reveal Ruby, now sorta sitting above her? Perfect meet cute you can talk about for ages. It calls back a pivotal point from Mulan's past and we get to see a mostly decent CGI wolf (in broad daylight). Especially because we know that Red has killed people before and it's so unclear how much control she has, what exactly the Witch has done to her, ending it with her all smiling as well, is great. Of course I have to cry about "My name's Ruby. My friends call me Red." (Sorry, Mulan should have called her Red later on, to hammer that home.)

Mulan has hearteyes from the get-go, Ruby sits there panting. Frame this and put it in a museum. A clashing meeting that is definitely cute. I mean, there's a sword and fur involved.

It's funny how Mulan forgets to even introduce herself and Ruby has to ask her name later on (because suddenly it's night, how long did they sit like that?). And for somebody who likes to overanalyze it's hilarious how they do manage that Mulan mentions Aurora - with the sad music swelling in the background, to remind us all how their last meeting went - and then we cut to Ruby saying goodbye to Snow. In my mind a good reason this pairing works is, that they can get drunk together and lament how terribly in love they both once were with a princess. It's a fun thing to bond over.

Mulan is clearly the rare holder of the braincell, she also brings in a lot of training, so a good fighting form. Ruby is the muscle, but especially for the EF she has a special kind of wit thanks to the curse!persona. The Bear King allowed us to see a darker side of Mulan, hitting rock bottom, being selfish and looking for a fight.So Ruby is a great person to have her enjoy life and find a balance between duty and fun. This is kinda the promise at the end of the ep, finding a path for Mulan, while Ruby searches werewolves.

Obligatory Doylian rant: Red Warrior was the plan. Whatever you wanna say about the writers, they knew this episode was a romantic set-up. There was a cryptic tweet, some drama and so it's all speculative, but I have made my peace that this came down to studio interference. The live action Mulan film was in the works already, it was coming, Mulan is an official big Disney princess and even though everybody with a bit of media literacy understood that Mulan was very much in love with Aurora, there was this plausible deniability and she wasn't like... that gay. Oh no. And this is why Dorothy got squeezed in, Mulan left with nothing. Clearly not what was promised to Jamie Chung. I have no proof, but it is the best explanation how we went from The Bear King to Ruby Slippers (zero hate for that episode or the Red Kansas ship!!).

I want to know what kind of adventures they had together. How did they go about this search? Any rumors about wolves? The maddening thing is how they managed to end up in Oz at all. I know there's a mysterious BTS pic for the ep. But nevermind, what we do get in the beginning is a duo with a routine, complete with a badass back-to-back protective stance. I always pictured them together in Storybrooke, Ruby showing Mulan around. But I guess what I needed was them out in the woods alone, traveling realms and kicking ass (I'm a simple girl, with simple needs).

Two wonderful interactions at the end of TBK are when the Witch arrives at the coronation. Ruby is ready to go on the offense, but Mulan holds her back. Just a few frames, but it's perfect. And then there's their little banter Ruby: "I might not be the best person to ask for dating advice. I kind of ate the only boyfriend I've ever had." Mulan: "Yes, that disqualifies you." [...] Ruby: "It's better than wallowing in self-pity." Mulan: "I don't wallow!"

THEY ARE ALREADY PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER! Endless teasing and running head first into enemies (don't worry, Mulan has a plan; Ruby dramatically takes off her cloak... sometimes even when there is no wolf moon, just to distract enemies).

I've known for a long time now that one day your art and enthusiasm and great taste in tropes would pull me into some fandom I never thought I'd join, but I'll be honest, I always guessed it was going to be one of those live action Gotham shows. Sports feels so wholly, entirely out of left field that I don't even know how to react. I've been going through the backlog of Jungle Boy's lore and taking furious notes! Like, he lost his father, then his father figure mentor turned on him and became his nemesis with a thousand personal remarks? And then his bestie joined his ex-mentor? And then he had to fight his ex mentor and beat him and then kissed him goodbye on the forehead before (symbolically?) killing him and then burying him like he did his father? And by doing so, his ex-mentor committed one final act of cruelty against him by forcing him to make that choice, to make Jungle Boy an agent of his own loss and deterioration, take part in it. And from that point on, Jungle Boy became more focused on going after what he wants and taking it no matter who is in his way? Did I understand all of that right?

And then he becomes best friends and partners with a guy who is like the perfect foil to him: an unstoppable 2nd gen fighter - young, even younger than himself. They have so much in common, and they like each other so much. But. Hook keeps winning. He hasn't lost his father. He hasn't lost his mentors or his friends. He hasn't sacrificed anything. And he. Still. Keeps. Winning. And it's always right there in Jungle Boy's face. And when JB turns on him, out of the blue, the first thing he does is drop to his knees as if...mourning himself? And then the next time he shows up, he's dressing, talking, and acting just like his (dead? is he dead in-universe or...? idk how that works) ex-mentor--

--ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! WRESTLING HAS JUST HAD THIS THE WHOLE TIME? I am going to show up every damn week from now on, and I'm going to have no idea what the moves being yelled out by the commentators are, and I am going to wait on the edge of my seat for the dialogue much like impatiently skipping paragraphs of description. And I'm going to make chips for it! WTF what the actual fuck there's enough for 2/3 books of a novelization trilogy here wtf wtf sports??? I am losing my mind

Yes, AEW actually has really good storylines- especially recently with Jungle Boy! That burial match was one of my favorites when he fought Christian Cage - it was so personal, but I appreciated the end results. Effing great, so choice. I'm wondering when they'll have another reunion soon? Now that Jack went heel *bad guy* and said a few nights again when he was in a team, he was a champion... maybe he'll team up with Cage and Luchasaurus again? Or he'll just be his own bad guy???

SO, the drama with him and Hook kinda felt off to me. A lot of people felt Hook was going to betray Jungle Boy, but I never saw that? Hook has always teamed up with people who've been good to him, and surprisingly, Hook is super chill with them, lol. But now the betrayal of Jack kinda makes me think if Hook will ever have another team up :( unless it was Danhausen or the Hardy Boys etc.

JungleHook was a very young and cool team up! I kinda wish they would've gone for tag titles... but alas...

The side drama is ongoing this upcoming Wednesday! I love AEW and how they have a variety of drama going on in between the fights. LOL - even better when the drama is in the ring...!!!

Like, okay, MXTX probably didn't intend it to be sexy, but damn, when you look at YZY's marriage, the idea of her having some secret past before JFM where she really got to live, but gave it up for duty... That's the kind of thing I eat up!

What are your favorite things about the ship? - THE NAMES. Seriously, Violet Spider with a sexy purple whip, and hand that could crush your golden core, two seriously dangerous people that one-on-one you would NEVER want to mess with!!! *Sighs* yeah, definitely sexy.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - Are there any *popular* opionions about them? /s When I think about it, I guess it would be that they would be no better for each other than YZY and JFM, that there is a reason their history is history, having much to do with the sects they ended up in, and they were never a "meant to be", just a "could have been, maybe, had the world been different".

What made you ship it? - Because there is a history between them we know so little about, two women who were so close they pledged their firstborn children into an arranged marriage (and you know Madame Jin would have had to fight JGS tooth and nail to arrange it, because logically JGS would have wanted to choose the most politically/economically advantageous option, and while the Jiang had some political clout at that time, I'm sure JGS would have preferred an alliance with someone like the Wen). And because I think they'd be sexy together :D

What are your favorite things about the ship? - To a certain degree, the ship is a blank slate because we know so little about Madame Jin (including her effing name), but what we do know is that both of them are strong, opinionated women who can be vicious in their own ways, particularly when they believe they're protecting their children, even if they don't always show it in healthy ways (this is fiction, who cares about healthy ways lol). And again, the actresses in CQL are gorgeous and remind me I'm bi over and over again.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - That, personally, I find them more interesting and engaging than any other femslash pairing in the fandom? Because I can enjoy various groupings of Mianmian, Wen Qing, and Jiang Yanli, but to me they just don't have that tooth, that bite that the older ladies do. But that's just a personal opinion - I'm very ship and let ship so enjoy your ships :D

Why don't you ship it? - I'm trying to put my finger on it. Because I HAVE read a handful of fics, and I can appreciate the stories and the writing, and it's a perfectly fine ship! How can I not appreciate a love for NHS and LXC. I guess it just comes down to me not feeling it. They don't reach into my chest and grab my heart and scream at me that their story needs to be told in every variation possible.

What would have made you like it? - I dunno, really. As I said, I've read a few fics and tried, so I'm not sure what would shift it over from neutral to ship. I can see the potential, it's definitely there, I just kind of... *shrugs*

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? - The biggest one is the shippers - a lot of the people I started following on Tumblr when I first got into the CQL/MDZS fandom were XiSang shippers, and they're all such awesome people that I will defend the ship on their behalf at the first sign of attack ;) And the characters are both ones I enjoy (NHS more so, he's my MAJOR BLORBO), and I can at least see the potential in the ship! It's one of those things where all the ingredients are there and correct, but it's just not the cake I want to eat.

I think that some people are projecting a bit? There is a desperation for representation - and I don’t mean "desperation" in a bad way, more in a “It’s 20-effing-24!” way. Bisexuality is underrepresented on TV. Light-hearted queer love stories are underrepresented on TV. Much of the fandom has deified Buck, and they envisioned this kind of story for YEARS. They will therefore pour their hopes and desires into it (not to mention so many see it as leading to Buddie, which could or could very much *not* be the case). And some just prefer the gratification of fast burns.

In reality, we don’t know that much about Tommy. We haven’t seen enough of Buck and Tommy's chemistry and overall dynamic, especially to be considering endgame. Lou Ferrigno Jr. is funny and charming, and some people may (again) be projecting his personality onto the character. Tommy is still a blank slate in many ways. It would be easier to include him in the show, though, because of his job.

Tommy helping Buck discover and accept his bisexuality, then moving on (and moving on doesn't mean leaving the show, or not staying friends) isn't a bad thing. It’s realistic. I personally see Tommy as "good for now" instead of "good forever." But it's anyone's guess what will happen.

I think you make great points! Honestly, not sure I have much to add. I think anything is possible at this point and I have the most faith in 9-1-1 and Tim and the writers that I’ve had in seasons. And also, wanted to point out that you make great points with the instant gratification and projection comments. Both tend to reign in fandoms and they’re certainly happening now (as someone who projects just a bit 🤣)

🧡that the minbari soul stuff is real and should be taken at face value, which imo completely ignores several in-show details we get that indicate that the trilumanaries weren't detecting souls, but human dna. we even get this pretty much explained to us in atonement when it's explained that the triluminary glows for delenn because she's a child of valen and therefore descended from the jeffster himself. that's also why the triluminary glowed for other humans that were interrogated! not because it was picking up fragments of of valen's soul in them all, but because it was just picking up human dna! and ok, granted, i have no fucking clue how that works either re the triluminary somehow being an advanced scanner or the dna stuff lol, but b5 has plenty of examples of stuff where tech is simply so advanced it gets mistaken for or used as magic (the fucking technomages damn it). anyway i just. do not understand why people take the soul stuff at face value when the show itself LITERALLY DISPROVES IT. gOD

💚 i talked about neroon in my previous response so i will turn now to branmer. again this is a taking things at face value thing, but i really don't get it when people just assume delenn is totally correct that he didn't really want to be a warrior and was forced etc, especially since in that same convo she says stuff that contradict that! saying stuff like 'he believed in the rightness of the war' doesn't sound like a guy who felt bad about joining the fray, it sounds like he was very into it in fact! and then the fact that she gives that very uh, interestingly worded response when sinclair asks her how branmer felt about the surrender... anyway I just think that if branmer became a warrior it was because he wanted to and because he got some fulfillment in the role and i think a lot of what delenn says in that scene is her trying to assauge her guilt because she feels he wouldn't have become involved in the war if not for choices she made. i also like, really don't see what right she had to claim him for the religious caste when he had chosen the warrior caste. that sounds a lot like her attempting to invalidate a legit choice her friend made just because she didn't agree with it and is actually very uncool!

🖤same answer as before: delenn. i just think she is a much more morally complex and interesting character than she gets portrayed as by fandom and i think her characterisation from mid s4 onwards did her an immense diservice. i much prefer her more conflicted characterisation in earlier seasons, tho i will give s4 credit for rbl, an episode which straight up says 'delenn is actually very blinkered and prejudiced and lets this effect her perspective and her decisions in a not great way' but then concludes with lennier going 'and actually that's a good thing!' NO IT ISN'T LENNIER, and you need to have a proper talk with her about it!

💖i mean honestly i think it's probably that i have issues with the latter season's portrayal of delenn and sheridan as always righteous and correct and a total power couple girlbossing their way to glorious success. i think there are a lot of things that are quite effed up about the establishment of the interstellar alliance and how much power ends up consolidated in their hands with zero oversight. what's interesting is that i feel like s5 sort of attempted to criticise it with sheridan making many terrible decisions as president? but im not actually sure if that was deliberate and not just... bad writing on jms's part and him not realising he was making them do incredibly stupid things

💕i feel like all my ships are smaller ships that aren't super popular lol, probably the most popular is marcus/neroon. i put down neroon/sheridan last time for this one haha, but for the sake of a bit of change i will also say: any of my oc ships. i have many minbo ocs and i do love to ship them with each other haha

Yeah, Hellcheer is my #1 but I have seen some interesting ships while scrolling through the crazy (but wonderful) Stranger Things fandom. No other ship has really caught my interest as much but I do like:

Max and Lucas

Nancy and Jonathan (though the actress has better on-screen chemistry with Steve's actor imo, go figure)

I saw some Billy and Barb crack-shipping which was effing hilarious and excellent.

Joyce and Hopper

That's it really - a bit boring, yes - but what can I say? I don't really get the hype for Steve and Eddie or Billy and Steve but seen a lot of talented fanart for them. I tend to ship canon pairings or total crack-ships usually (less heartbreak - I lived through Zutara man).

I also enjoy seeing Chrissy shipped with other people (she has some of the BEST shipping names). Chrissy and Eddie are my OTP, but Chrissy is such a sweetheart who deserves love and affection and I just want her to be happy, okay? I like:

Chrissy and Steve (i can definitely see the attraction here and they make a beautiful couple, plus they're very similar in certain ways. This would be my second preference after Hellcheer for Chrissy. Also Chrissy/Eddie/Steve smut is like shit HOT).

Chrissy and Robin (fuck me, too beautiful for words)

Chrissy and Jonathan (i just think this would be seriously interesting as again opposites attract. Smooches in the dark room bb. Hit me up with links for this one seriously)

So yeah, that's my shipping list for Stranger Things. I don't think I'll ever write something for anything other than Hellcheer, but I do like looking at other artwork and reading the fics. There's some STUNNING fanart across the board.

Author's note: This fic is written for the @12daysofchristmas and I want to thank @booboo-eyedbambi for making the mood board. ❤❤❤

Claudio looks at the couch in front of the fireplace, where Nick Jackson is sitting, shivering under a cover. They have gotten some free time for Christmas and gone to Switzerland, so that the youngest Young Bucks could visit it.

Being born in Rancho Cucamonga, Nick has witnessed winter, is used to it, but Californian winter is way different than Swiss winter and he can feel it till deep in his bones. Nick peeks at the tall Swiss man from the couch, knowing he may seem ridiculous, but it is so damn cold and he couldn't help it.

He can see Claudio take two big mugs, serving the hot chocolate in both of them, before he finally reaches him.

“Here you are, birdie. It's really hot, so don't burn yourself.” Claudio sits at Nick's feet, handing him the mug.

“Thank you, Swiss.” Nick murmurs as he sits straight leaning against Claudio’s shoulder, still shivering.

“I know it's winter, but you don't have to act so cold.” It is difficult for Claudio not to say those words and the pout which forms on Nick's mouth makes him wonder if he has the right Bucks there.

“Are you serious?” Nick asks after sipping the hot chocolate, looking up at him. “We are stuck in a mountain cabin, outside there is an effing snow storm, the temperature is around 23° F, add that Swiss winter is colder than Californian’s, of course I am cold!” The pout grows wider, but he tries to sneak even closer to Claudio, to get more heat. He still can't understand how the Swiss man is able to stay there in a T-shirt and not feel an inch of cold.

“I always saw you and Matt so different, but right now you are acting like a princess exactly like him.” He chuckled and, before Nick could say anything, he leaned over to him, closing his lips on Nick's. “Do you want to wear one of my hoodies?” Claudio asks seriously, standing up, ready to go get one. He knows it'll be big for the younger man, but he would look cute in it at the same time.

“I act like a princess way less than Matt.” Nick's pout disappears at that kiss, which he happily gives back. “Yes please.” He doesn't want to admit it, but he wants Claudio's scent all over him. The whimper which leaves his mouth once he is alone on the couch, makes Claudio grin.

“I'll be back shortly, don't worry.” He leans over and kisses him once more, before disappearing in the bedroom to take one hoodie. “All for you, Birdie.”

Nick can only mutter a thank you before he wears the hoodie, sinking more into it, to inhale more of his scent. With his eyes, he follows Claudio's movements, as the Swiss stands up and takes some wood pieces to let burn more. He can't help but focus on how Claudio's shoulders move back, how his muscles are so evident, how much his triceps flex while taking the wood and throwing it in the fireplace.

Nick can't help but wonder how lucky he is to have a boyfriend like him, even with the difficulties coming from their clashes at work. He is in love with that man ever since the Swiss wrestler has joined AEW, madly in love.

“Come here, please.” Nick knows he is very demanding but doesn't care at the moment. He is cold once again and only Claudio can make him feel better.

“Everything you want, Birdie.”

Claudio sits back down next to him, takes part of the cover and puts it on his legs, tugging him nearer, skin to skin contact. Maybe, after all, that journey in Switzerland won't be too bad after all those cuddles.

Could you tell me a bit about Hatoful boyfriend? I never played it for obvious reasons, but I'd like to try if it's really an actual, good game

[cracks knuckles] SO! Hatoful Boyfriend. Known to most as "the bird dating simulator" began in the form of a demo released on April Fool's Day by one Hato Moa, a comiket artist who also worked with bird shelters and had a pet fantail dove named oko-san. She combined these interests of hers to create the at-first-a-joke concept of an otome game populated not with talksprites of pretty anime boys, but still photos of birds. However, being a comiket artist, she clearly couldn't help but actually go all in on making this visual novel.

"Hatoful" is a 3-way pun between "hato" being japanese for pigeon and "hatoful" being the japanese transliteration for the english words "heartful" AND "hurtful". While silly, this also cuts through to the core of the game- Angst, and heart, and pigeons.

I actually yoinked the game's structure for Entropic Float- It has several route endings that are mostly all required to unlock the true ending. I think maybe 2 endings were excluded from requirement on release, but depending on the version of the game you play more endings have been added that are "for fun" and not required to get to the true end. Essentially, there are 8 "romance routes"...

But hatoful has been called the "aro dating game" because basically. Even the endings that are supposed to be "romantic" don't have much romance about them, and the diagetic framework of the game is that you're trying to "form a close bond" with a bird that proves birds and humans can coexist. All while playing as an utterly bonkers MC who lives in a cave.

The true ending is. I'm pretty sure (again like EF) almost as long as if not longer than the rest of the game put together, and shifts the tone from "haha funny bird game that sometimes tugs on your heartstrings or scares the shit out of you" to "OH GOD. YOURE GONNA TUG AT MY HEARTSTRINGS AND SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME FOR AN ENTIRE ROUTE THIS TIME." and it's genuinely the game that made me fall in love with visual novels as a storytelling medium

There's also a sequel that most people outside the fandom don't know about. Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star. it pulls a similar tonal bait and switch in which it starts off as a christmas special type game but then expands on certain characters' backstories in a way that. Well I was never the same after it I'll tell you that much. The true end of HBF is spectacular, but it's what Holiday Star does that has made the game stick with me since 2015. So um. Yes I'd recommend it! Very much! You do have to suspend your disbelief and give some serious buy-in to the premise but it's very, very good.

Well, I mean, any place tropical would be lovely. I do so much better in the heat than the cold (stupid autonomic system, unable to retain its own body heat? Pfft, weak).

But to be truly honest? I've always wanted to visit Scotland, Ireland... maybe the rest of the UK as well. I want to see all the old homesteads and castles and rock formations, the fields and valleys, I want to *feel* my Celtic roots find earth. There's a shire in Scotland that holds my maiden name... and I would love to visit that one day. I want to visit centuries (upon centuries) old cemeteries and read the inscriptions.

What are your favourite asks to answer:

ANY!! Like, I know that sounds desperate, but I love all the asks. Fandom asks, fic asks, personal asks, random weird asks that mean nothing. To know that someone, somewhere, was thinking of me even a little bit, to the point where they want to know what I was thinking? It means something.

Ask culture is honestly not what it used to be, I wish it thrived a lot more, I would love to get more asks than I do, but alas... it doesn't happen.

How do you come up with the fics you write?:

Honestly? I couldn't quite tell you.

Usually it happens with a scene in my head. A line of dialogue or an action or something and I build a little story around that in my head. I have a few (!!! several untold hundreds) that never make it to the written typed word, but that bounce around my head. Rarely do I start with the first scene, though... usually I have a little scenes I want to get to, then I have to imagine what led them there. And that question is where the fic begins, because once my head has to justify going from canon to the situation in my head, that's where the fic begins. What needs to change? What motivates them? How do they react? How do the canon storylines and characters change to get to where I need them to be to write the scene I want to write?

And then, the fic becomes How do they react in that situation? What happens next?

It's very rare of me to write a short, one shot. Because by the time I have justified the writing to the scene I wanted to get to, it's already several thousand words, And then, what's the point of effing with a character's head if you don't examine what happens after? So, there's several more thousand words... if not ten more chapters...

Things get out control quickly once I actually start writing things.

In my head, I can skip things and ignore plot points and just get right down to it.

On the page, it has to make sense.

Since this seems to be a trend, I have to ask: top 5 pieces of media you'd rec me? I am really curious since I think I've already tried pretty much everything you loved 😅

sorry for the delay, but I was right in the middle of one of the things I thought I miiight recommend you, so I waited until I finished in case it ended up poorly lmao.

Said thing is Zatanna & the Ripper, an already completed webtoon available online for free (don't let the fact that it's 51 issues long deter you, a webtoon episode takes less than five minutes to read lol). I was already reading a couple other DC webtoons, with mixed feelings ("Wayne Family Adventures" is often too fandom-y for my blood but it's given me a few ideas, and "Red Hood: Outlaws" was... neither a bad as its worst moments, nor did it manage to live to the sky high expectations of its very best), and I was already on my Zatanna feels thanks to Young Justice so... I picked this one up.

I'm guessing you know this but Zatanna's comics version differs quite a bit from YJ's; she's from Bruce's generation, for one (he has a cute cameo here with the two of them playing as children lol), her usual love interest is John Constantine (who plays that part here), etc. This isn't quiiiite like the comics version (or what little I've seen of her), she's a bit younger and greener, with a "finding yourself/having faith in your own power" arc.

The premise is that Zatanna, on her 21st birthday, gets transported to London in Victorian times, right around the time Jack the Ripper was killing (I'm pleased to say the run managed to side-step the issues I tend to have with historical fiction that tries to play around with this concept, tbh). She's stuck there, with malfunctioned powers, becomes friends with one of the working girls, starts trying to solve the case etc. etc. It was a fun read, all around.

Hmm... I'm trying to think of favourite stuff of mine that I don't think you've tried... shows-wise, I think that'd be Desperate Wives? Not saying it didn't infuriate the hell out of me at times lol, and I'm not sure how you'll feel about it, since it's also not-my-usual-type... but when it's good, it's GREAT and really damn enjoyable lol. I became hooked really early on so I'd say to give the pilot a try and see if it awakens any interest, if you haven't watched it?

For films... you might've watched some of these, but some of my favourites that you might want to give a try to would be "The Mask of Zorro" (revenge! romance! sword fights as both revenge and romance tools!), "The Handmaiden" (historical lesbian romance with really engaging twists), or 2010's "True Grit" (a western, which isn't usually my thing, about a young girl seeking revenge for her father's murder).

I'll also list some of my favourite classic books that you might or might not have read, Because: "Carmilla", "Dangerous Liaisons", "Frankenstein", "Pygmalion"

I don't know how plausible it'd be to find this available outside of Spain, but I'm recommending "La Promesa", a Spanish telenovela I've gotten into (I'm not really watching it properly because I'm waaaaaaaay behind lol. it's long as fuck, currently in its 150+ episode; I watch the current ones when my mother has it on tv lol, and sometimes some of the old ones). It's sloooooow, which can be frustrating, and LOOOOONG, as I said, but it does some really great things character-wise. I've called it the Spanish Downton Abbey lol, but with faaaar more attention given to the working-class characters (the heroine herself being a maid).

This goes beyond five, but since I'm not sure if you've watched/read some of these, and you probably won't be able to watch the last one ^^U: SEVERANCE!!! Again, I just want people to watch both this AND Dollhouse so we can delve deep into them xDD. Just one short season so far, with a second one coming on 2024. It's about a group of workers who've gone through a surgical procedure that separates their memories from work and those from their life outside, effectively creating different people, and the sketchy corporation they work with. And Dichen Lachman is in it too :D (her part is the only one I actively compared with Dollhouse while I was watching it lol. So far Dollhouse wins but... Priya's story is hard to top).

Another bonus, Because: I recommended the Kemi Ashing-Giwa's short stories stored in Tor to another mutual, so this time I'll give focus to another one: "The Puppermaster", about a banished warrior, her sketchy usurper uncle, and monsters.

I think what gets me the most about Ford being constantly criticized and put down in the fandom is the fact that I relate so hard to him. Maybe he is just a fictional character who can't hear anything the fandom says but as someone who understands the struggles he went through so intrinsically it's frustrating when he's bashed for reasons I don't understand because I've been there. Not to the same extent that he went through things, obviously, the show makes him exaggerated, but enough to get the picture.

I was the weird girl who was always bullied throughout my school years, who had little friends or the social skills needed to make and keep them, who was intelligent and knew it because everyone told me so, who had friendships that took advantage of and manipulated me, and a low self-esteem I disguised with my smarts because if I'm not smart, who am I? Not to mention how passionate I am about my interests, to the point that they sometimes take over my life. I am very socially awkward and I do prefer being alone. If I had the choice, I'd probably isolate myself just like Ford did.

All I'm saying is, I feel like part of me is like Ford. I defend him because I understand and relate to him more than I do Stan. That's just how I am. Maybe I get too overzealous, but I just love Ford that much. Pointing out his flaws is fine, not saying they don't exist or anything, but when you hear them all the time it kinda gets grating after a while. Like imagine if Stan was treated the same way Ford has been... as if his every mistake, real or imagined, should be placed under an effing microscope to find all the ways he's a bad person... except for his twin who's flaws are brushed aside after only a slap on the wrist.

Maybe we shouldn't make liking a character over their morals the norm, calling them a better person than a different character for not making a mistake character A did when all they are is a vessel. A vessel to tell a story. Characters in a story make mistakes to move the story forward. A story has to have conflict after all.

Maybe judging characters for their morals like some kind of preacher is fun for some people, but it is a battlefield for people like me who want to love a character without feeling like they have to apologize every time their character is flawed or be banished because your choice in favorite character means you are a bad person because of what that character did to push the story forward. At least, that's how it feels. Seriously and genuinely.

Anyway, before i get into more tangential ramblings, if you somehow couldn't tell, I love Ford. Maybe too much for a mere fictional character, but I do and I'm tired of apologizing for it.
