It’s a Sunday night and the first quarter is almost over, report cards are due Wednesday morning. But you’ve made it your mission this weekend to get them all done so you can let go of the heavy stress that doing report cards carries.

Much to Jessica Rabbit’s chagrin you insisted that you spend the night apart. You honestly can’t remember the last night you spent away from each other. You had practically become the infamous U-Haul lesbian trope minus the U-Haul. Which wasn’t your norm in relationships, you had always liked spending a very calculated amount of time with someone and then you needed to be alone and charge your social battery until you were up to spending time together again.

But like everything that involved Melissa, it was just different in the best possible way. You could just be your 100% authentic self, tired, crabby, anxious, frustrated, sad, loving, happy…she just knew what to do and when she didn’t know she’d ask what you needed in those moments. Which in your past had been a very one sided thing that you would do for your significant other but they couldn’t do it for you. So having it be reciprocated was mind blowing to say the least.

Your phone starts ringing and a picture of the redhead kissing you on the cheek pops up.

“You know this totally defeats the purpose of us spending the night apart right?” You answer the phone in a teasing tone.

“You know you miss me just as much as I miss you. And you love that I called you!” She quips back.

“That is highly possible.” You say as you smile into the phone.

“Are you almost done?” She playfully whines.

“Are you a second grader or a second grade teacher?” You tease with a chuckle.

“You did this to me, you know! I was perfectly fine by myself, you know that I don’t like people. And then your gorgeousness had to walk into my life and gave me no choice but to fall in love with you! And now I’m the kind of woman who can’t even go a whole day without you being in my arms!” She exclaims.

“You’re making me get a big stupid smile on my face. You know that I feel exactly the same way about you my angel. I have two report cards to go, when I finish them I’ll text you and if you’re still up for seeing me I’ll pack a bag and Uber to your place.” You say hoping that’ll cheer her up a little bit.

“Correction, I’ll be picking your cute ass up. You promise you’ll text me?” She asks.

“If it’s not an ungodly hour, yes I promise.” You say softly.

“Noooo even if it’s an ungodly hour. (Y/N) I need you.” She says quietly, her voice filled with vulnerability.

“Fine silly girl. I promise to text you when I’m done.” You say softly.

“Good! I guess I’ll let you get back to grading. I love you so much amore mio.” She says softly.

“I love you more baby girl. Byeeeee.” You say.

“Byeee pretty girl.” She says and ends the call.

When you finish your last report card, you look at the clock and it’s already 11. You know the redhead is either in bed or fallen asleep on the couch. She’s not going to be happy but you’re going to Uber there so you don’t wake her up and have her drive here. You throw your stuff in the overnight bag that practically lives on either your floor or Mel’s floor. You make sure you submitted the report cards in the portal. And then call your Uber and before you know it, you’re standing on the redhead’s doorstep.

You take out your phone debating whether you should call or text her. You open your phone and pull up her number and decide calling is probably more effective and press call.

“Hey baby. Are you ready for me?” She answers trying to sound more awake but the grogginess in her voice gives her away. You definitely made the right decision to Uber here.

“I am but you need to check your front door first please and thank you.” You gently instruct her.

“You did not!” She exclaims.

You giggle into the phone.

She opens the front door and lets out a little squeal. And pulls you into the house and into her arms and you immediately relax from the stressful day you just had.

“You were supposed to let me pick you up!” She says into your neck.

“Were you not just sleeping?” You ask her teasingly.

“Possibly.” She reluctantly admits.

She breaks the hug so she can give you a long passionate kiss.

“Thank you for coming and taking care of my (Y/N) withdrawal.” She says softly, leaning her forehead against yours and gazing into your eyes.

“If I’m being honest with myself I had some Mel withdrawal myself. But this is definitely helping.” You say making sure she knows you feel the same way about her.

“Are you okay with just cuddling in bed?” She asks while trying to stifle a yawn.

“I will always be okay with cuddling in bed with my gorgeous girl.��� You say as you caress her cheek. “Come on sleeping beauty, let’s get you in bed with your head on my chest and off to dream land.” You say with a smile as you lead her to the bedroom.

You get her to the bedroom and then go and make sure that everything in the house is turned off.

You’re weird when it comes to what you wear to bed, you literally just strip down to your underwear and call it good. Melissa gave you crap about it at first but stopped real quick when she realized it basically gives her a fast pass to all the goods!

You’re brushing your teeth and then you feel her wrap herself around you.

“You’re supposed to be in bed silly girl.” You say between brushing.

“I need you.” She says into your neck.

This is Melissa at her most vulnerable, she’s literally the definition of I don’t need anyone or anything towards everyone and everything else in life. The fact that she feels safe enough to say that she needs you is an honor and privilege that you don’t take for granted.

“I’m right here baby, available for all the cuddles you need.” You say gently as you finish wiping your mouth and then turn around to face her and kiss her softly.

You guide her back to bed and you both get in and just like you said she lays her head on your chest and you just melt into each other.

She traces patterns on your skin because she knows how that makes you fall asleep faster.

“Someday, hopefully in the not too distant future we won’t have to go anywhere to be with each other because we’ll have a home together.” She says quietly.

This is the first time she’s brought up moving in together. Of course you’ve thought about it because you already know Melissa is it for you, you can’t imagine your life without her. Loving her and being loved by her is your happily ever after.

“I don’t know… can you handle my ever expanding mug and magnet collection?” You tease her.

“I would get as many fridges and enough cabinets as it takes for your collections if it meant that I could wake up to you every morning and fall asleep with you every night.” She says as she smiles up at you.

“Have you really considered moving in together? Or is this sleepy Mel talking?” You ask as you play with her hair.

She takes your chin in her hand and has you look her in the eyes to show how genuine she is about this.

“(Y/N) you know I don’t say stuff that I don’t mean. I’ve really considered this. I’ve thought about how I’d ask you to live together. I’ve looked online for where we could live if you didn’t want to move here. I’ve also considered other things.” She says and then she mimics sliding something on your ring finger.

And for once you’re literally speechless by what she just hinted at!

She chuckles at how surprised you look. And then proceeds to give you a long and desire filled kiss.

When the kiss ends you look at her and see her mind going and then fear and embarrassment wash over her face.

“Have you not thought about those things with us?” She asks quietly. “Because if not… I didn’t mean to…” She tries to say.

“Melissa, look at me.” You gently instruct her. Once her emerald eyes are locked on yours, you continue. “I would love nothing more than to have a home together and to make you my wife. I was just shocked that you said it first, I thought I’d have to prove myself a little more or warm you up to those ideas.” You say as you stroke her hair.

You feel her let go of a breath she’s been holding. “You mean it?” She asks softly.

“I definitely mean it. So much so that I might have a Pinterest board called Mel’s Engagement Ring.” You say with a big smile.

The redhead is beaming at you and you can’t help but pull her in for another kiss.

“Do you think that we’re crazy for talking about all of this already?” She asks looking up at you.

“No I don’t think we’re crazy. I think we’ve known each other for two years and some change. And we’ve been close friends for most of that time. So compared to people who have just known each other the amount of time we’ve been dating, it makes sense that we’re already all in. And I think it’s one thing to know and want a forever future with someone but we just want to chill and get some more time under our belts as a couple first. And it’s another thing to be like we want all of that by next Friday. And correct me if I’m wrong but I would assume we’re both leaning towards the first one.” You say looking for her chime in.

“I mean I wouldn’t mind if it was next Friday.” She teases you with a smirk.

You chuckle and roll your eyes playfully.

“I’m just glad we’re on the same page and that it’s all out on the table.” She says softly.

“Me too angel. Now let’s get some sleep, my sleeping beauty.” You say as you kiss her forehead and pull her closer to you.

Your alarm goes off. “Noooooo.” You moan, you open your eyes, light is streaming through the window and red hair is splayed all across your chest, Jessica Rabbit has magically ignored your alarm and is quietly and adorably snoring with her arms wrapped around you like your her most prized possession and no one can take you away from her.

“I hate meeting people for the first time because the majority of the people just see my disabilities and not me. I don’t know if you remember but my first few months at Abbott I would just say hi and smile at the other teachers and staff, laugh when I thought something someone said was funny and talk to someone if they were directly talking to me. It just makes me think why the fuck would Melissa want me. You could literally have anyone and definitely many people who don’t deal with the shit that I deal with. And ironically Gary fucking said it, charity case is exactly how I feel when it comes to this shit. Yes you have shit that a lot of other people will probably never experience. But it’s made you the woman who makes me feel so safe, loved and taken care of. And that’s something that I didn’t think I’d find. Yes technically this will be the first time meeting my family. But I’ve literally talked their ear off about you and how amazing you are to me and how amazing you make me feel. They already love you and are so excited to meet you. And if anyone has anything bad to say they’ll have to go through me. I love you so much amore mio and every day I wake up I’m so grateful that I get to call you mine.” She says looking into your eyes with such love and adoration.

“I love you more angel. You always know how to calm me down. Thank you for being your amazing self.” You say as you pull her in for a kiss.

When we break away she gets a playful smile on her face. “Besides, how am I going to propose to you if you haven’t met my family.” She says with the biggest smirk and playfully nudges you.

“Melissa Schemmenti saying the P word, I must be dreaming!” You say nudging her back.

“Well as the gorgeous woman standing before me said last night I want to make you my wife. Mrs. (Y/N) Schemmenti just has a certain ring to it.” She says and then she kisses you softly.

“Seeing you all giddy about this is very adorable, you know.” You say with a smile.

“It’s all your fault, you turned me into this sappy romantic lovestruck chick.” She says as she goes into the bathroom to finish her makeup.

“Well what can I say, it suits you.” You say with a smirk as you lean against the bathroom doorway gazing at her with adoration. “So you have convinced me, I will go with you to family dinner. Do you want me to come this Sunday? Or should we wait a little bit?” You ask as you look at the ground nervously.

“Really?! You’ll come?!! Oh you are so coming with me on Sunday! Everyone’s going to be so excited to meet you! And I promise I’ll be right next to you the whole time and make sure you’re as comfortable as possible. I know this brought up a lot of hard shit for you. Thank you for really facing it and it makes me fall even more in love with you if that’s even possible.” She comes to hug you.

“Anything for my queen. Thanks for helping me through it baby.” You say melting in her arms. She tries to go for a kiss.

“You literally just applied your lipstick and are going to get it all over me. And then I will have to tell everyone this is what being loved by Ms. Schemmenti looks like.” You tease her and duck her kiss.

The redhead does the biggest pout you’ve ever seen and you can’t help but chuckle. “I love you angel.” You say as you kiss her forehead and then you head to get y’all’s coffees started.

Your hands feel like you literally just washed them they’re so wet with sweat. Great just another thing to add to the not good enough for Melissa Schemmenti list you think to yourself as you wipe them on your dress for the billionth time.

It’s Sunday night, you’re in the car with Melissa driving to Nonna’s house. “Yes ma’am.” You said with a nod.

Back in the car you feel her warm hand squeeze your leg. “Honey, you've been holding your breath since we got in the car. Breathe for me please.” She says as she gives you a concerned look.

You realize that she’s right and you didn’t even realize that you were holding your breath. You let a big breath out. And take a deep breath in and out.

“Okay we are on her block. Her house is the brick one with the green shutters.” She says to you.

The house comes into view and you swear to god your heart stops. You hear Mel shut her door and it jolts you back to reality. She comes to your side and helps you out of the truck.

She puts her hands on your biceps and gazed at you with such love. “They already love you. All you have to do is be yourself. And I’m right beside you the whole night.” She pulls you into a big hug. “Kiss please.” She says with a smile. You gently kiss her. And then you walk arm in arm up the steps and the redhead does a playful knock and then let’s herself in.

You follow the redhead into the entryway and can immediately hear the Schemmenti’s shouting over each other and possibly at each other. The aroma of an amazing Italian meal being made wafts through the house.

You brought Nonna a bouquet of an assortment of yellow, orange, and purple flowers. You decide to be a few steps behind Melissa, let her introduce you to everyone.

“Look at what the cat dragged in!” Announces a big bald burly guy who you think is Vinny.

“You’re one to talk Vin!” Melissa says as she playfully punches his arm.

“Now Vince, ya can’t talk like that, we have a lady in our midst.” A guy Vinny’s size with jet black hair comes up beside him and slaps him playfully aside the head.

It then dawns on you the man is talking about you.

“Mel you got yourself a looker! Where are my manners? I’m Dominic but everyone calls me Dom. It’s very nice to finally meet the woman that my cousin won’t shut up about.” He says as he holds out his hand.

You take it and give it a firm shake. “It’s very nice to meet you.” As you look up and give him a small smile.

You then hear a woman shout. “Let me through! I need to see this woman!” A little old lady barely five feet tall with the hint of red in her perm walks through the sea of Schemmentis, emerald eyes just like Jessica Rabbit’s give you a full body scan.

“Well you must be (Y/N). My granddaughter has told me so much about you!” She says as she gets to you.

“Good things I hope.” You say with a small smile.

“All good things which is high praise coming from her! But you already know what a special woman you must be to have Melissa feel the way she does about you.” She says looking you right in the eye.

“That’s very kind of you to say. Loving Melissa and being loved by her is something that I am so grateful for every day. And I know that sounds rehearsed and maybe ingenious but like Melissa I don’t say things that I don’t mean.” You say looking back at the Schemmenti matriarch.

“Hmmm I already can see why Melissa is fond of you. Strong women attract other strong women.” She says giving you a genuine smile.

“I brought you flowers. My mom taught me to never be an empty handed guest.” You say holding out the flowers.

“Your mom sounds like a very smart woman. These are beautiful dear! You are the first one that she’s brought here to give me flowers! And she married one of them, can you believe it?!” She said and winked at me. “Dom go find your wife and have her put these in a vase for me.” She hands the flowers off to Dom.

Her and Melissa give each other a big embrace. And then she says something to the redhead and they both look at you beaming.

“Come (Y/N)! A little birdie told me that you’re nervous about tonight. Well you just sit by me and I’ll talk enough for the both of us! Besides I need to know what your intentions are with my granddaughter as well as make sure you enjoy my lasagna!” She takes you by the arm and with Melissa on the other arm leads you to the dining room.

“Oh my god there she is!” You hear a voice say and then you see a doppelgänger of Jessica Rabbit herself only with jet black hair.

“You’re even more gorgeous in person! I’m Annette by the way, Mel’s cousin but we’re practically sisters. We've been inseparable our whole lives.” She says as she looks you over.

“It’s very nice to meet you.” You say with a smile and you hold out your hand.

“Awww look how polite she is, Mel you could learn a thing or two from her.” She teases Melissa and winks at her. “One thing you should know about us is that Schemmentis are huggers. Better to get used to it now. Come here I promise I don’t bite..hard.” She says and she opens her arms.

You don’t hesitate to hug her, you know how special she is to Melissa and you want to start off on the right foot with her. You hug her and it’s one of those warm comfy hugs where you can just feel her joy radiating to you. She’s got very good vibes, you can see why Melissa loves her so much.

“Has anyone told you that you give really good hugs?” She asks when the hug ends.

You chuckle a little. “Melissa says that to me all the time.” You say smiling at her.

Nonna takes you by the arm again and leads you to a seat. You pull out her chair to have her sit down first. And then you pull out Melissa’s chair for her. Annette is giving you this astonished look.

“Is she even real?” Annette asks Melissa jokingly.

“She’s pretty great, right?” Mel says and looks up at you with such love that you kind of get choked up a little bit.

“She deserves to be treated like the queen she is.” You say to Annette with a small smile. And then you lean down and kiss the redhead on the cheek. And then you sit down in your spot.

“Speaking of how you’re treating her, I hear you’re taking care of her in more ways than one.” She gives you the infamous Schemmenti smirk.

“Annette!!” Melissa exclaims.

“Oh come on, we’re all grown women who have been around the block more than once! And Nonna needs some excitement in her life!” Annette says.

“For your information Annette, I do take care of your cousin in more ways than one. And let’s just say she’s very enthusiastic about how I take care of her and always keeps coming back for more.” You say with a big smirk as you emphasize the word coming.

All three women gape at you in disbelief of what just came out of your mouth.

“What? Annette started this conversation and I responded appropriately. I’m not gonna deny my skills!” You say chuckling.

Nonna bursts out laughing and you finally start feeling comfortable and like you can just be yourself.

“Dinner is served!” Dom announces and then he sets the lasagna on the table and then a slew of Schemmentis come out of the kitchen setting different side dishes on the table and taking their seats.

Chatter is happening all around the table and you just sit there quietly observing. You notice the similar physical features that they share that you’ve memorized about Melissa. Melissa is chatting with Annette and just looks so relaxed and happy that it just warms your heart.

“So (Y/N). Melissa said that you’re fairly new to Philly. Where are you originally from?” Nonna asks.

“I’m originally from Michigan. Abbott was my first job offer after I graduated with my masters. And I had always wanted to live out of state somewhere so it was the perfect opportunity.” You explain.

“Do you get to see your family a lot?” She asks.

“Only a few times a year. Mostly for holidays. Seeing y’all have dinner like this is really nice. Even if I saw them more we aren’t like this with each other. I mean don’t get me wrong I know they love me, but they love the version of me that they approve of, not the rest of me. So when I’m with them I feel suffocated if that makes sense.” You say getting a sad look on your face.

“Oh sweetheart I’m sorry. A parent’s job is to love their children unconditionally and when that doesn’t happen it’s really difficult to come to terms with. I mean look at all these knuckleheads, they’re loud, they’re stubborn, they’re confrontational, but at the end of the day every single one of them knows that wherever they are in life, they can come here and the rest of us will love them just as they are. And I want you to know that you can come here just as you are and we will love you too.” She says and then pats your hand.

This woman is being so incredibly kind to you and she just met you, you almost can’t comprehend it. You smile and nod.

“So I don’t know how long I have left here on this earth so I have to know do you intend to marry Melissa?” She asks.

This woman has balls you think to yourself, getting straight to the point. You feel Mel put a hand on your leg. You look and she’s looking right at you, she definitely heard Nonna’s question.

You give Mel an I got this nod. “We were actually just talking about this last night. We both expressed that we do want to get married. This one actually insinuated it first which was surprising to me because I thought I was going to have to convince her to marry me. But yes there will be proposals and then a (Y/L/N) Schemmenti wedding in the future. And if Melissa gets her way, which she probably will because who can say no to that gorgeous face, it’ll be sooner rather than later.” You say with a genuine smile.

“The way you’ve been with her tonight and from what she’s told me and the way you look at each other, I can tell you really love her and go out of your way to take care of her. And knowing that she has that gives me peace. Now everyone cough up the money!” She looks around the table as people start begrudgingly tossing money towards Nonna.

You smile and nod. “Good night Nonna. Have a good night everyone! Nice meeting y’all!” You say to the entryway filled with Schemmentis. And you and Jessica Rabbit leave Nonna’s hand in hand for the first time but definitely not the last.

When you get home Melissa knows that your batteries are low from all that socializing. She takes you straight to bed.

“Thank you for being so amazing with my family tonight. You make me feel so happy and loved. And I just need you to know that I will do everything in my power every day to make you feel as loved as you make me feel.” She says looking at you as she strokes your cheek as you lay facing each other. You pull her in for a passion filled kiss.

big fan of the yellowjackets season 2 trailer’s title card designs for the cast and the little hidden meanings in them:

shauna is an easy one, we see jackie’s necklace in plain view. jackie may not be in season two, but she will continue to haunt shauna in her own ways. plus, it means the necklace’s journey to pit girl is still underway. I also like that the sticks look a bit like a nest, considering there’s a chance shauna might give birth to her doomed baby this season.

taissa’s card has this very fun double/mirror effect that really focuses on her biggest issue this season, which is this strange dissociation with this other side of herself (that sammy called “the bad one”). there’s a really fun shot of the trailer where her reflection is sentient which is one of my favorite filmmaking tropes (it makes me think of the shot in the movie “Us” where you realize the fun house reflection is a whole other person.)

I’m not sure about the meaning of the bone shape in taissa’s title card yet, but these and all the bones in the title cards seem to be similar to the weapons they wield during the big fight scene. interestingly enough though, taissa is wielding in axe in this scene:

natalie’s design is also very fun, the main detail in hers is the dead bird we see earlier in the trailer. I like that all the characters have had some sort of animal associated with them (deer for lottie, wolves for taissa, rabbits for jackie and eventually shauna.) my guess is natalie’s animal will be the bird.

misty is also often associated with bird symbolism (the owl camera, her pet bird caligula) which like shauna and jackie could just be a good indicator that their stories are intertwined.

I could also make the argument for misty’s animal being a cat, with her cat-themed nurse scrubs and Halloween outfit. It would explain her prey-and-predator relationship with the rats and birds around her (natalie included) from watching the rat in the pool to keeping them trapped in the wilderness right under her paw. her bird-themed secret camera is intended for natalie, so it fits.

the bone shape is interesting too, my first thought was that it almost looks like a heart if you step back enough. natalie’s story is a tragic love story at its core so I think that’s very fitting if so.

misty’s was a little trickier for me, but I do think the bone weapon on the right looks like an axe which gives me a fun flashback to her iconic axe wielding scene. there’s also a little yellowjacket bug which I think is cute.

Bill being a fucking badass tbh. The minute FEDRA leaves, just breaking into everywherr. Seeing him set up that town, having a full blown plan, setting up traps and building a goddamn generator, relaxing as he lets his traps take care of infected, just enjoying his steak and laughing. Knowing he does that a lot 'Gets me everytime'. Man's was made for this. He slayed tbh. That whole scene was so satisfying.

I was scared Frank was gonna use Bill, and he did at first, but then seeing him genuinely begin to love and care for him. Refusing to let Bill die when he got shot even though Bill told him Joel could care of him, wanting to marry Bill on his last day.

Honestly Frank just being sassy and dragging Bill lmao. 'We need friends babe. Sweetheart please you just sit in the basement all the time. You need a social life other than me, and for my own sanity, I need one too. So I've made a friend over the radio and you can't do anything about it. Now get me my paint'.

Tess being an AllyTM. Her and Frank being besties whilst their paranoid husbands scowl at each other.

Joel unable to say the word 'partner' for Bill and Frank lmao. You just adopted a lesbian. Honey, you've got a big storm coming.

I was hoping Ellie would get to meet Bill and he would tell her about Frank (Before going into the ep, based on the game) so she would have a nice little internal 'I'm not the only gay in the world thank god' moment. But I didn't mind since the whole episode was amazing.

The strawberry scene.

Bill apologising for getting older quicker but then it's Frank that needs the help later. My heart.

Frank and his paintings and beautiques.

Frank knowing Bill poured the pills into the wine bottle so he'd die too.

The marriage scene. Them exchanging rings. Having the same last meal and wine they had for their first meal together. Sitting next to each rather than across the table. A shot of the hole that Frank fell into, where they met. Sobbing. I love them.

They are the definition of 'In sickness and in health, till death do us part' and it hurt but it was some beautifully.

It ripped my heart out but the fucking skeletons. The baby blanket and transition to seeing that baby and the mother. Knowing what happens. Hearing a mother comfort her kids and seeing a old lady and a whole community of families and knowing what happens to them.

All the fuck the government stuff. It feels like all the fucked up shit they did is so realistic and would happen.

The letter for Joel. 'Keep Tess safe'. And the symbolism of knowing there's at least one person (Ellie) worth saving. Worth living for. My heart.

Flour Zombies Confirmed. It's no longer Plants Vs Zombies, it's Plant Zombies.

The way he said the date of the outbreak, the subtle pain, and you can tell it's engraved because of that reason, as well as Sarah's death, and his birthday. I can't wait until Ellie finds out it was his birthday. And/Or about Sarah.

Contractor (?) Joel dragging Bill about his fences and using his KnowledgeTM to bait him into trading. Him being right.

Ellie's first time in a car. 'It's a spaceship'

'Women's shirts'. Joel really is thinking of her and it's nice to see he's used to taking care of a teenage girl and how he goes back into that role with ease. Him getting used to that again, even if begrudgingly at first.

Everytime Joel tells Ellie off. Dad Mode Joel Activated.

The fucking seat belt scene. Joel telling her to put her seatbelt on. The parallel of him saying that to Ellie like he did with Sarah. Him leaning over her and Ellie being completely comfortable with him doing so. Her not knowing what a seatbelt is.

Joel trying to get Ellie not to play music but then not letting her turn it off when he realises it's a song/artist he likes.

Joel warming up in the final shot when he likes the music. Ellie hating it. It's giving Dad Who Listens To Smooth Radio Whilst You Die Inside. I know because I've been there.

No school scene. Not introducing the bloater so soon. I'm glad we're building to that. Makes it seem much more impactful.

Basically the entire episode.

All I 'didn't like' (/Joking) was that they didn't hide literally everything in that house in the secret basement below the basement so raiders won't find anything when they come, so it'd still be there if they ever need to go back there. But that's just because I wouldn't be able to deal with it if that were me. I'd be making sure no one finds that shit. It's mine, and I'd go back for it when possible. Maybe. At some point. Hopefully. Or live there myself if I wasn't in Joel and Ellie's situation. I also wanna see Joel swinging upside-down from a chain at some point.

Joking aside, this episode is great. The show continues to not only meet my expectations, but exceed them. I can't take the fact that there's only nine episodes this season because I don't want it to end and I hope season two isn't about the second game, but for the show's later seasons to be about the years and adventures Joel and Ellie have together after the events of the first game, if season one meets the end of the first game. Because I love them and need more of this.

I'm so excited to see where this show goes. It has the perfect balance of sticking to the source material yet also doing new stuff that also surprises people who have played the game. I adore it.

favourite thing about them: I love that she was allowed to be girly while also kicking ass. I feel like in anime and a lot of modern media, people don't allow strong female leads to be girly AND strong, it's always one or the other. unpopular opinion: She never needed to marry Kaneki to prove that she had value in his life. I know that it was to wrap the series up in a neat little bow and because she was pregnant BUT I feel like it was forced. She had value to Kaneki outside of just their romantic relations.

Marathoned through what I can find of season 2, here's my thoughts so far:

Nichelle is a queen, an icon, literally the first total drama character to show self-improvement and character growth without being an antagonist. Can't wait to see her continue to show up everyone, though I wish we got to see her form actual friendships instead of just girlbossing 24/7.

Mkulia is more canon than literally all of the relationships. They're so fun to watch as antagonists, and I can't wait to see where the cheating arc goes. The fact that they've shared confessions since they formed their alliance? The lesbians are eating good this season. Also Julia in particular is just really well written and voice acted? She sounds like an actual teenager her age. It's 👌 chefs kiss.

Speaking of the cheating arc, the rift between Bowie and Raj because of the team's under-the-table methods is such an on-the-nose way to play it. The "boyfriend kisser" arc of World Tour handled a literal cheating scandal super poorly, but this season is handling its' 'cheating' scandal really well in terms of how it dissolves trust in a relationship. Can't wait for Bowie's guilt to reach it's apex, we never know what he'll do when it does.

Raj really does see the best in Bowie, unfortunately his glasses are a little too rose-tinted to see that Bowie is more than happy to continue enabling Julia and MK, so long as they keep winning. I'm not sure if this will lead to a breakup or a heart-to-heart, honestly this series could go either way, but it isn't called Total Drama for no reason. Keeping my fingers crossed that it'll work out.

Another relationship I unfortunately saw coming from a mile off is RipAxel, though I can't say I'm upset about it. A lot of people saw Axel as queer, myself included, and Ripper is, well, Ripper. But they had a season one Duncney vibe going on in Axel's brief run last season. Something about the misogynistic guys (Ripper called himself an alpha at one point?) and the competitive latinas 🤷‍♀️.

Their actual dynamic this season is different enough from what I thought it'd be that it's refreshing. I guess it works in a very Roger and Jessica Rabbit type of way (if Jessica Rabbit was a butch teenager), and if you're third eye is opened enough to see it as yuri it's a win. (The poetry scene was really sweet, in a way.)

Prialeb came out of nowhere though. For a character who was essentially a Justin clone last season, I really do like the direction Caleb's character is going in. He's got that competitive mindset, and is trying to flatter Priya into an alliance by being friendly/flirty, but the narrative doesn't really make it clear if he's aware that he's manipulating her Alejandro style or if he really is just oblivious enough to see his approach as platonic/friendly. Holding out for some aro or ace (or aroace 🤭) representation with Caleb if they go with the second narriative, but the "only ever had one girlfriend" line hints more towards him being gay than ace.

I'm predicting Priya's foil being her crush of Caleb. It's gonna lead to her elimination. I love the fact that that, despite being hypercompetent thanks to her upbringing, she's terrible with things like relationships and feelings.

I'm super happy that Emma and Chase ended things again. They're terrible for each other. Also, Emma was way less likable this season? IDK if that's just me. Chase was never likable but he's at least funny to watch, especially when he's taking Ls.

Lauren's antagonist arc is brewing at Playa Des Losers (if that's still a thing?) so she's definitely coming back in the merge Izzy style. That, or she'll pull an Ezekiel and sneak back onto the island.

Millie's brief character arc about learning not to take advantage of people was cute, if undeveloped, but I can't say I liked her this season. Damien didn't deserve what she did, but he did need the reality check it gave him. And some therapy to help his fear of everything- the guy's an anxious wreak, and it's not so much endearing as it is pitiful to watch.

Wayne and Raj are my two beautiful sons who deserve the world. Zee has been delightful as always. No need for elaboration.

Chris is delightful this season. All of his lines are great, and what little we see of Chef is golden too. Good job to the writing team for our favourite geriatric couple.

My only real gripe with this season, which has been more and more apparent since season 1 back in 2007, is that the characters don't really feel like they're in a summer camp. Back in the OG island we had character interactions and dynamics outside of challenges that helped set the tone of the series; it felt like they really were teenagers at a summer camp, the challenges and eliminations came second to the character plotlines.

Whereas now, most of every episode is based in the challenge itself. Every elimination is based around something that character does during a challenge. Most meaningful interactions happen during a challenge. It feels more like a gameshow than the reality tv it's supposed to imitate. The only non-competition based conflict we get to watch is Emma and Chase's thing, which is more akin to influencers beefing than two teenagers at a camp having a rocky relationship (see: Duncney S1, Gwent S2 briefly, whatever happened with Gwourtney). I wish we got to see more of the character as they are, than the characters while they're actively in a challenge.

Independently of that, kit's also planning Souls of the Broken Warrens, an adult interactive comment-driven dark fantasy quest about genocide, cute rabbits, and love and companionship in the darkest of times.

Pix and Bit Save the Galaxy is a fanfic I sometimes write for on AO3. It's about a couple trans lesbians fighting one of their dads and his army for the fate of the Galaxy. You know, normal shenanigans n shit.

okkkk so zalans a cool single rabbit trans dad, he’s bisexual and very lonely andddd his gf was serenity who went poof and died he is a sad guy now also serenity was a literal princess (crazy) he’s super awesome and has really awful parents, serenity and zalan met as teenagers and were basically inseparable (sobbing bc they are an adorable couple) yes he has an eyepatch, his eye basically got rlly badly hurt as a kid and he’s super self-conscious about it, he’s pretty much only let serenity see under his eyepatch. He has a hard time letting things from his past go, and has an even harder time accepting that serenity’s dead and that he needs to move on

aster is the child of zalan and serenity in a really confusing way because serenity died pretty young n stuff, they r basically their child from another timeline they were sent to this one for reasons I will not disclose here because this is just a simple character introduction u guys (unless you really want to know ask me or smth idk) anywayssss aster was given the necklace that serenity used to wear since it’s like a rlly important relic in the moon family everyone basically receives it at some point in the family, but we need some sort of plot device so that necklace is actually really bad and has basically been killing off their entire family (yikes) so yeah it starts talking to the wearer and tells them to do bad things to themselves or other people around them which was what caused serenity’s death and basically everyone who came before her, it’s like a curse pretty much and is really bad and stinky and maybe you will find out who is causing this!!!!!??? (It is a little obvious whos the evil character here I think)

anyways asters super cool!!!! (definitely an active tumblr user) they like to make bracelets and they end up dating bex and joining his band that he has with devon (super awesome) so yewh they are super epic :)

ophelia is literally so awesome and cool and I loveeee her love love love he’s a bigender butch lesbian and is literally so incredible, she’s dating marina and they are so awesome and cute, he’s the sister of serenity and asters super cool aunt like the kind that gets you mcdonalds after school and has a super dirty car!!!!! /positive

I honestly don’t have much planned for her in the story other than the fact that he’s just super cool and I think about her a lot :’)

mara is literally the girl boss of all time, shes the childhood best friend of zalan ( they are not on the best terms rn tho……) mara spent a lot of her time as a kid with zalan until they had a big fight because zalan thought mara was too controlling and pushy and he told her he didn’t want to be around her anymore, mara lashed out at him by attacking him, it’s what caused his eye to burn (she has fire magic from her father) mara immediately regretted it and ran away crying, leaving zalan to lay in pain until his parents found him (i like to imagine it took place in a field, zalan and mara spent a lot of time away from their parents since neither of theirs were very great, they really only had each other to rely on) mara has tried and tried and tried to apologize to zalan but he’s refused all of it. mara didn’t have a great relationship with serenity either, their kingdoms are rivals and she spent most of her life as a child learning to hate her. Mara tried to reconnect with zalan when they were teens, but she saw he was with serenity and got jealous (not in a romantic way in a platonic way) since zalan had only ever been by her side and since she and him stopped being friends, she’s really had no one to turn to. She has a tough time controlling her emotions and like zalan, she closes herself from the rest of the world and doesn’t accept help

marina is an absolutely sweetheart we love her, they are super energetic and love sea creatures :3 her gf is ophelia and honestly she is a bit underdeveloped other than being super sweet and caring for others but I love them a lot, she’s a lot like the mom friend and often is the one people can go to for advice (especially aster)

bex is such a little weirdo I love him, theyre into a lot of nerdy things (it is why him and aster r in love u guys) and loves music and being silly and stuff, they’re like a half-alien half-lizard half-creature thing that I cannot describe but yeah also devon is basically like a big brother to him since they don’t have any siblings and his parents suck (guys count how many characters I have that have bad parents challenge) I like to think him and aster met randomly in like math class or smth and bex had a stupid little backpack that had like a pikachu keychain and aster was immediately like “wow im in love…….” HAHAHA anyways theyre awesome and sweet also they have a long tail I just did not draw bc it wouldn’t fit good (i have tried)

devon is like every older brother in a teen movie but slightly nicer, he’s two years older than bex and aster and they all go to the same school. devons super chill and wears stupid clothing that says random phrases on it (gamer swag) he came up with the idea for the band because he was bored or whaatevrr i like to think that bex and devon met because bex was trying to find a class and devon showed him to it, also devons definitely still in freshmen classes despite being like a sophomore because he legitimately just does not care about school and slacks off so they usually just talk in whatever classes they have together also devons like a half-goat guy, he usually hides his horns in his hair but I showed them for the drawing lol

tyme is literally every tumblr sexyman mixed into one and I’ve done this on purpose because then he has ultimate power (which he does anyway) they are a literal timegod who likes hot sauce and zalan (he is obsessed with that man) also he’s immortal and has lived since the world was created (more on that later!) he’s the kind of guy to sit seductively on pianos basically (does that make sense yes no i dont know) he’s a total menace and a trickster and his best friend is actually aster which is funny because he wants to be with their father (funny silly goof) also he has an existential crisis every month over his existence, also he knows zalan isn’t ready to move on from serenity so it worries him a lot since he is literally so madly in love with him

HANK IS A FITHY MAN WHO SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED (nobody listened apparently when I screamed that from the sky) he is a massive idiot and ruler of the world (orrrr until he died or whatever) he was basically raised in a really bad cult growing up not knowing his parents who praised a being known as “star”, growing up like this formed his thoughts on what his ideal world would be, to escape from the world he was raised in, his mind began to fill with the world he wanted, he was the ruler, he had a group that listened and respected him, and so many subjects that wanted to hear what he had to say. He built himself towns and cities and kingdoms from his mind. Tyme was something that came along with the creation of this “new world” and for a while Tyme was very complacent with what Hank wanted and fulfilled his every need. But eventually along with all of his other creations they turned on him and began to think of ways they could get rid of him, to stop his control over the world. But that was impossible, they’d probably be killed like all the others who disobeyed him, so they stayed still. years went past and nothing changed. If anything, things had gotten completely worse and hank had gone even more insane. Even if Tyme wanted to he couldn’t stop him, although he was the second most powerful, he had no power against his creator

one fateful day, hank stood up on his balcony to give a speech to the people, a normal event, usually preaching about something only a madman would. right before his speech however, tyme, done with his nonsense, went up to him and told him he needs to quit this, hank had done nothing but walk away. But now sitting on the balcony, looking down at all of the people, HIS people, he grinned and stood up on the ledge of the balcony, screaming his thoughts out one last time, before using a knife on himself and falling to the ground. Nobody made a sound except for the door that tyme rushed through to find his body, but, there was no body, only a glowing star

Jeanne: I think you just need to settle down around, Velvet. Just turn things down a couple of notches so she can feel more relaxed around you, and hopefully she’ll feel more comfortable around you to say she loves you. Or, you can do that, and ask her yourself. Of which, why haven’t you?

Coco: Ahh well… As much as I would love to tell her how I feel… for the good of any potential relationship, Velvet needs to be the one to tell me. So she has the better chance to grow as a person.

Jeanne: Hmm… That does sound like something she would need to do to grow as a person.

honestly, i started to wonder if they actually went to school. this episode is tying up several loose ends lol.

also, it's been a few episodes since the reveal but ritsuko is a underage (from drinking at least)??? she is dressed like a middle aged woman, and she talked all about how she tried to be an idol when she was young. hellooooo

this episode was less goofy and more about practicing. which was still fun, but not as fun. i remember how superstar just skipped practicing. the girls got to manifest songs and outfits, it's fine. but idolmaster is of course building up to something different too.

my least favourite running gag is the series forcing makoto, who wants to be feminine, into more masculine/androgynous looks. she tries to be grily, but the characters deny it and the narrative ridicules her for it. only cheers for her when she's stuck in the box they put her in.

i'm reminded by the love live episode in the original series, where rin was feeling insecure about being too tomboyish, so they dedicated an entire episode to her where she got to feel pretty in a wedding like dress, she got to sing her solo, and hanayo lowkey confessed lol.

(also that only girls cheer for makoto because she's masculine is infuriating too, cause makoto is by all means probably straight and wants a man. but because she's boyish. but i'll give the series a pass for actually canonically having a minor character who was a lesbian.)

episode still filled with a lot of great gags. i love pretty much all of the actual cut-aways and the concepts for those, even if i still find the whole idols doing television stuff weird. (basically all male fans, and i just think why the girls want this?)

didn't chihaya just want to sing? and now she's stuck presenting this lazily put together show. but we did get a cool gurren lagann esque movie preview out of it, so... can't stay too frustrated.

1. BNHA—Fuyukoto

Look, Fran basically already covered Tddk, and while they’re my OTP, this is the kayak I have built with my own two hands and I WILL get more people on board it if it’s the last thing I do. Have they met in canon? No! Do I still have shit to talk about? YOU FUCKING BET.

First off, they have the same goals for a relationship—on Fuyumi’s end, I think it’s pretty clear that what she wants is domestic stability. Makoto, meanwhile, has explicitly stated that her ideal partner is someone “ordinary”—someone down-to-earth and steady to balance out the glitz, glamour, and chaos of her professional life.

She’s also extremely assertive in a way that I think Fuyumi needs in her life—someone like Makoto backing her up would probably do her wonders. Plus, giving Endeavor a daughter-in-law who has blackmailed a pro hero and gotten away with it would simply be excellent.

Speaking of in-laws, this ship would also make Naomasa and Touya in-laws. This is objectively funny.

2. Free!—Reigisa

I have such a soft spot for these silly little guys. You know that one post about being a sitcom b-plot character? These two are the fun little b-plot romance to Makoharu’s pining and drama. I love how ridiculously persistent Nagisa was in getting Rei to join the swim club, and I love the scene where Rei scoffs at the idea of him being affected by “something as illogical as love” like it didn’t WORK.

They’re hilarious, they’re adorable, they’re opposites attract, they’re absolutely whipped for each other. I love them.

Also, the water gun fight. The fact that Nagisa successfully ambushed Rei, then proceeded to walk into the trap he’d set earlier, was comedy gold.

3. Lego Monkie Kid—Dragonfruit

I was on the fence about this one until the Samhedi Fire scene. Look, I’ve spent five years and counting in the Tddk community—you give me fire and an “It’s your power!” and I’m gone.

To be clear, when I say “on the fence” I mean I was deciding whether or not I shipped them—they were luring me in, that just sealed the deal. I love the scene were Red returns Mei’s dragon plushie, I love their dynamic in general, and the fact that they were cuddling after the battle got me in the heart.

I’m not as deep in this particular fandom, so I’ll leave it at that—they’re cute, they got me in my weak spot, I like them!

4. Fairy Tail—Nalu

Is it even really a meet-cute if you don’t end up running from the cops?

These two actually hold the honor of being my first anime ship—Fairy Tail was my gateway anime, and Nalu was my first ship from it (thanks, Faun on both counts!)

I like how there’s hints that they could be a couple right off the bat, like Natsu’s arrival snapping Lucy out of the love spell when none of the other girls under it were affected, but that it isn’t fully a romantic subplot immediately. The focus is more on developing their friendship, and even though they’re not together by the end of the original manga, there’s not any question of why they WOULD fall for each other at some point in the future. Time and time again, they’ve saved each other, been there for each other, and just enjoyed each other’s company. I like a good friends-to-lovers, what can I say.

Also: THE FUCKING TREE. NATSU UPROOTED A GIANT RAINBOW CHERRY TREE AND FLOATED IT DOWN THE RIVER JUST SO LUCY COULD SEE IT. THAT’S REALLY FUCKING CUTE OKAY. Especially because, for those unfamiliar, he did in fact put the tree back afterwards.

And finally:

5. Superwomen in Love—Honey Trap and Rapid Rabbit

This is mostly an excuse to talk about this manga, because it is a LESBIAN SUPERHERO ROMCOM and more people need to read it.

Honey Trap, a villain, defeats Rapid Rabit, the heroine, in battle, gleefully removes the helmet of her costume… and is immediately smitten. As a result, she lets her get away, gets kicked out of her villain org, and ends up as Rabbit’s roommate, because Rabbit is the sweetest person in existence.

Fun superhero battles ensue as they try to take down the villain organization Honey used to be part of, while meanwhile Honey tries her hardest to get Rabbit to fall for her, and there’s a healthy dose of “and they were ROOMMATES,” which is always a fun time! Plus, one thing I specifically like about this manga is that the fact that they’re gay is a complete non-issue—the only “how can two women—?” of any kind is when Rabbit is (understandably I think) baffled by a different lesbian couple in the story having what’s essentially a biological daughter.

Superwomen in Love!!! Go read it, it’s fun!!!

Been thinking a little about Champion lately. I think he's got short hair. Like way shorter than it is in botw. I haven't doodled it yet but I need to.

Twilight has like a million animals he feeds. All the cats. Modern au Twi would probably volunteer with an animal shelter or adoption program. He might foster pets! Help with spay/neuter catch and release programs! Yknow that kind of thing

I think transfemme Dusk would be Very Cool. We didn't have that in mind when setting up asau and the royal line kinda needs to continue, and there's a whole bunch of stuff with zeldy powers being only in afab ppl bc that's how we set it up to work. But like dusk has the energy yknow, on top of being a distinguished sword lesbian. Also transfemme Fable! Her and Legend would legit be opposites bdgdbsbbxbx

Flora is chubby. Mizu sent me an artwork earlier this month of botw/aoc Zelda, Urbosa, and Link and I just fell IN LOVE, we immediately made it canon. She was just so fucking cute. (Twitter link)

We were talking about like. The kind of stuff that happens when you're on T. And I was talking about how when you change doses your face swells for a little while, and it can do that when you first start. So even tho Legend's ring would regulate his T, it could still happen at first. So our (paraphrased) conversation was like:

Mizu: I think it does, and Legend is upset/self conscious about it, but then Wars is like "wow... Was your jawline always this strong?" and Legend is immediately hit with euphoria

Kio: YEAH he'd be like "I don't even care if he's lying to me?? I do not care, this feels too nice"

And then that convo went onto Legend whining about having acne again, etc etc lol

We recently talked about maybe writing something about Legend's mom and dad!!! Like how their relationship went up to having legend. So maybe this will happen. I fucking. I love his and fable's mom Amethyst, we've written her and Alfon in Faction and. AAAAAA she's just great. Legend takes after her sm. He definitely gets his temper from her. What's funny is that ppl look at Alfon and how stoic and mild he is and think that he's the voice of reason, but no. On the inside there is chaos, especially when amethyst is involved. Her flirting with him made his brain catch on fire, but outwardly? Nothing.

Just fucking. ASK ME about how many AUs we have. I fucking dare u. We've got spinoffs of spinoffs. So many ideas. All the time. I convinced Mizu to make a furry au with me. It's like stardew valley minus the farming and it is so fucking delightful. Wars is a cat. He's big and fluffy and blonde and has white mittens on his fucking paws and it brings me SO MUCH joy. Did you know that rabbits don't have paw pads? It's just fur.
