Audrey was shocked when Ben had first told her that you and he weren't dating. She knew that you were friends, best friends at that. Everyone in Auradon did. Everyone also knew that what you had between you couldn't possibly be just platonic, not with the way you look at each other, how much time you spend together, or how intimately you speak to each other. It’s like you have your own language.

Everyone in Auradon knows this, with the exception of you and Ben, apparently. Even now, in the middle of a junior royal council meeting, Aziz shares a pitying look with Herkie at the way Audrey holds onto Ben’s arm while he goes over the agenda. Neither of them miss the way her gaze flicks between you two, trying to see if you’re stealing glances. You’re seated at his right hand side, like you usually are, as he goes over the last few items on the agenda for the meeting today and try to pay as much attention as you can. You scribble in your notebook as he does, nibbling at a tea biscuit and trying not to miss any of the important bits.

“...Facing a longstanding struggle to keep up with the increased demand of the textile industry,” Ben says, skimming through his papers. He glances up, and he knows no one is really paying attention except for you. “Looking to open up a- a more collaborative process of dialog with key workers in the textile industry, and unified front between all the major groups who paved the way to textiles as we know them today, while also compensating for the rise in automation.”

Across the table, Chad yawns. Lonnie and Melody pass notes between them, at least attempting to be subtle about it. You listen to Ben continue to update everyone on the ongoing current events in Auradon, and your pen drifts away from taking notes as you do, and begins to scribble little shapes in the margins of your well loved notebook. Your other hand moves down under the table, adjusting your pale blue skirt and tugging at the elastic of your black and white striped stockings. Ben’s gaze flicks over to you as you adjust in your seat, tugging at the puffy sleeves of your white blouse a moment later. He can tell you’re starting to get fidgety, which means it’s about time to wrap all this up. Plus, he has a suit fitting in ten minutes that he can’t be late for, or else Lumier will probably char something by accident.

“Negotiations are still in progress, and of course, we’re looking for any way possible to avoid an embargo. I think that’s the last thing anyone needs…” Ben trails off with a chuckle, only to be met with silence. He looks back at his paper, trying to find his place before the silence gets anymore awkward. Before he can, he hears you let out a puff of air in agreement.

“That’s quite an understatement.” You smile up at him, catching his eye before you each return to your respective papers. Your Wonderlandian accent is comforting, like a familiar friend in a tough crowd. People have described your accent many ways, most concluding it’s somewhere between british and transatlantic, but you don’t think you have much of an accent at all. Ben says you do, and you trust his judgment on the topic. Audrey maintains a tight smile on her face as Ben gently frees his arm from her to look through his papers in more detail. Once he’s sure he’s not missing anything, he goes through the usual motions of wrapping up a junior council meeting.

“All party planning committee members are welcome to hang back, the floor is yours,” He says to Audrey, gathering up all his papers with a smile. “Everyone else, thank you for your time as always, and have a good evening.”

Ben heads to the door as people start to funnel out and make conversation. Audrey waits as the other people on the party planning committee move up the table to sit closer to her, glancing at you as you put your notebook, pens, notes, and teacup back into that teapot shaped bag you always carry. It’s enchanted with Wonderland magic, and it makes her uneasy. She thinks you should just get a tote bag, or backpack, like a normal person.

“Bunny,” Ben calls from the doorway, getting your attention with the nickname he’s had for you for years. Her train of thought quickly turns away from bags as you look over, noticing it’s time to go and scurrying over to him. She watches you both talk quietly and head to wherever you’re going next, trying to ignore the quiet, burning jealousy seeping up into her. It’s nothing new, she reminds herself. She knew you two were best friends when she got together with her Bennyboo, so she knew what she was signing herself up for.

“Are we ready?” She asks curtly, turning towards Jane. She refuses to spend another second worrying about you, and instead, she channels all her energy into sifting through streamer sample colors. Whatever you two are doing can’t be as important as this. She’s sure whatever you’re discussing right now during Ben’s suit fitting is just meaningless small talk. Nothing of any importance.

“I… truly don’t think you could have picked a better, more impactful first proclamation, Ben.” You conclude with a sip of raspberry tea. A wave of relief washes through him as he pulls on the blue suit jacket for Lumier to tailor.

“You think so? Because, I-I’m only going to get to do this once, and-”

He’s cut off by you nodding solemnly.

“What better way to pave the way to the future than mending rifts of the past?” You ask rhetorically.

“Yes!” Ben exclaims, letting his hands fall to his sides with a smile, a gesture you mirror. “You get it…”

“Of course.” You smile at him, and it’s quiet for a moment as you take another sip of your tea. “You know your parents will…” You begin, but Ben is already nodding.

“Oh yeah.” He agrees. “I wrote down everything from the pros column, and ideas for everything in the cons.”

“Good,” you say, encouragingly.

“And I have a great mission statement.” He adds, and you can see him getting fired up. You know how much this means to him, how much of his heart he’s putting into helping as many people as possible and being a good king to everyone, even the citizens on the Isle. If you know Ben - and you’re sure you do by now - you know how he can start to overthink things right before a presentation, even an informal one. He’s as prepared as he’ll ever be, and you have his back. He knows this.

“Oh, I meant to ask,” you say breezily as Lumier enters, “how are things going with Audrey?”

You wiggle your eyebrows at him, sending him a comically scandalous look. He laughs as you wave hello to Lumier, and you think it’s the first time he’s relaxed in the last 30 hours or so. You flip through your journal, selecting a few pictures you took recently of flora in Wonderland, doodling their leaves and stalks on a mostly blank page. He laughs, hanging his head at the unexpected nature of the question, and Lumier pulls out a tape measure to begin the alterations of Ben’s suit.

“You’re really- we’re really going to go there?” He asks through a smile. You look up at him, nodding.

“Mhm.” You confirm. He can’t say no to you, he never can.

“Okay. Uh, yeah things are good. With me and Audrey.”

“Good,” you smile, looking up from your paper. He wonders what you’re working on, and always looks forward to seeing your little drawings. Even the ones you dislike, he finds beautiful. He tries to think of what else is going on with Audrey.

“We, uh… we have a date later this week.”

“Sleeve.” Lumier interjects, moving Ben’s arm.

“Oh, how fun!” You smile.

“Head.” Lumier turns Ben to look out the large windows. He thinks for another moment, struggling to find anything else Audrey related to talk about as you distract yourself with the expression of a pouting mushroom you’d gotten a good picture of last time you were in Wonderland. Before he can think of anything else his eyes land on the Isle. His mind wanders toward how forgotten everyone out there must feel. You look up at him, following his gaze.

“I know.” You say softly. You’ve discussed the Isle and its’ residents at great lengths, both finding a greater deal of compassion for them than most people seem to have.

“How is it possible that you’re going to be crowned king next month?” Comes King Adam’s booming voice as he and Belle enter from the patio doors.

“Hello, dear,” Belle smiles at you, resting a hand on your shoulder as they pass, approaching Ben, and you smile a greeting back up at her, and begin putting away your notebook. As close as you two are, you can’t expect anyone but the royal family to be in the room during discussions of Ben’s first proclamation. Both you and Ben knew this had to be a conversation between him and his parents, and as much as you both might like it to be, it’s not really something he can do with you by his side. You scurry past him, sending him an encouraging look.

“You’ll do great.” You say, your voice just low enough for him to hear it. You touch his arm encouragingly until Lumier shoos you away, not wanting anything to jeopardize the way he finally got Ben’s shoulder to lay on that side. Ben locks eyes with you as you leave. It’s only a moment, but those three words, that one little gesture from you have him more ready than ever. He prepares himself with a breath.

You’ll probably sneak off to Wonderland for a while, like you usually do with any pockets of spare time you find, so you’ll get to update him on the feud going on between the bluebirds and inchworms by the time he’s done. He takes comfort in that, knowing that even in the worst case scenario, even if everything goes horribly wrong, you’ll still have some fascinating Wonderland stories for him, just like you always do. He finds great comfort in the thought as his parents approach, and knows two things; it’s time for him to begin stepping up, and that you have his back all the way.

You close the heavy wooden door behind you, walking a few feet down the hall so you don’t accidentally eavesdrop. You sit down against the wall to wait for Ben, and your mind drifts to Wonderland, as it so often does. There’s a peace there, something you’ve never been able to find overland. It calls to you, like a sailor’s heart calls to the sea. You wonder if you have time for a quick trip, just a few minutes in paradise, but you know it’s never really just a few minutes. Time works differently in Wonderland than it does in overland, and it’s unpredictable. The last thing you want is not to be here when Ben is done talking to his parents.

“I’d better not…” you sigh. Being here for Ben is more important right now. He’s your best friend. So you settle into your little spot in the hallway, smoothing out your blue skirt around you. You reach into your teapot shaped bag, pulling out a small white porcelain teacup with little violets on it, and a matching saucer. You think for a moment about what kind of tea you want right now. Hibiscus, you decide, with a touch of honey. You tilt the spout of your bag, letting the perfectly brewed cup of tea fall from the spout. You take a sip, leafing through your homework to see what you can bore yourself with to pass the time. You don’t know how long Ben will be in there, and you don’t care too much. You’re sure he’ll do wonderfully, and that’s really all you care about right now.

anyways the kardashians were a very very calculated rise to fame at any cost nd were maybe the first people to be on reality tv and skyrocket into mainstream fame (unfortunately) and kim's obsession w stealing everything from black people and marketing it out spearheaded the generic insta baddie aesthetic which is responsible for at least half of the desctruction of unique pop culture. if you look at the 2000s the shit was weird but it was unique. go back even further and the shit club kids were doing influenced fashion EVERYWHERE now everyone is passing around the same name brand outfits, everyone's going to the same surgeon to get their unique features changed into the same racially ambiguous lewk, you don't need talent, you don't need charisma you just need to look like you have money and therefore you deserve fans that will die to be scammed by you.

so the kardashians put pop culture on the slaughtering board right? and then here bts comes. also just copying what black ppl do 1 to 1 until they blow up internationally and start producing some of the most generic western bait pop to be palatable enough to all the white children of the world and their token black friends. but this generic music is taking over the world. the hype isn't in the content but its in the numbers. their fans begin to become obsessed with streaming numbers, video views, breaking records etc. the music is irrelevant. its all about the numbers and being on as many unskippable ads as possible. so now the industry follows behind the biggest (and worst) fandom of all time and award shows, journalists, online content curators who could be informing pop culture accurately are just saying whatever these people want to hear. giving accolades to soulless 'hits' bc they want to avoid death threats or just get a cut of the zombie streaming pie. good pop culture is DEAD. if it werent for the few big black girlies in the industry like beyonce who can do whatever we'd be in hell! no one can sing cuz theyre getting ribs removed to fit into corsets and no one is dancing bc the rented mugler bodysuit has to be returned with no damage and it's all just very very generic.

AFTER GOING OUT WITH YOUR FRIENDS...

It was 8:00pm. You just finished your hangout with your friends at a mall. You were on your way home, until you heard someone grunting and groaning, (no, not in that way,) someone was getting beaten up.

You didn't want to bother with that and planned to just swiftly pass by the alleyway without getting caught. You were going to do it, however you were stopped by a familiar voice,

"S-Stop!" Holy shit. Was that your boyfriend?

"Where's the knife?" another familiar voice.

You quickly took a peek, and there he was... Getting punched and jabbed so multiple times. You watched in terror, there was nothing you can do, honestly.

Heh, you dumb bitch. Of course you were going to help him!

You picked up whatever object you can swing them with. You couldn't bear the look on his face, the knife threatening to cut right through his neck. you had to save him right away.

You slowly approach but the puddles just gave you away. The 4 boys swing their head toward the noise, which was you. The shock was undeniably evident in their face.

"Y/N...." daehyun weakly says.

You were so shocked too. You lost grip of the object you were holding.

"Sunoo, jungwon, niki..." you stare at them terrified. "What the fuck did you do to daehyun?!" rage fills you.

You were distracted on Daehyun, you were helplessly crying...He looked so pitiful.. That was when you blacked out.

NEXT THING YOU KNOW...

you slowly open your eyes, you were in an unfamiliar place. You hardly remember anything, you don't remember why you blacked out. Your eyes we're wandering around the room... The only thing you can hear is the faint sound of dripping water. That gave you a clue. You must be in a basement..

"Y/N..Are you... O-okay? " you were startled but the voice.

"oh my god.. Daehyun." You gasp, "What happened?!"

"Great question, y/n." a voice interrupts. you swiftly turn your head to the person, it was Ni-ki.

"Ni-ki.." you weakly say. it was like a stab in your chest. your closest friends, almost killing your boyfriends because of how they brutally beat him up. "Why the hell would you do this?"

"It's because you're ours. " he sighs, "But daehyun here, is fucking wall."

"We have to slowly break him.. Until we can be with you. "

Then two boys appear from the shadows, revealing Sunoo and jungwon.

"Hi y/n!" Sunoo, who shamelessly greets you in a 'sweet' way. You just stare at him with a dead expression.

"Aren't you going to say hi back? " Sunoo firmly grips your jaw making you since in pain. "My, my lady. You gotta learn manners now that you'll be here with us!"

You spit on his face. He slowly backs away from you, with his eyes darkening.

"Should we end it now?" Jungwon steps forward.

"Why, of course yes! " sunoo claps his hand.

They slowly approach daehyun, " Wait- No! Get away from h-him! "

There... You saw such a horrifying sight. He was beaten to death.

"Y/n..I'm sorry.. " your boyfriend's last words.

You ears start ringing and the voices and noises become muffled, " stop crying, we're doing this for you. "

Your stomach dropped because now you will be with them, forever.

Backstory + main story: I was kidnapped as a baby by kamek because of my unnatural strength and slight mind powers (which have gotten stronger as I grew up). When I turned 6, Bowser taught me how to do villain shit (setting up traps, activing those traps, using my powers for evil, trying to find what I do best (power wise, which is mind powers and manipulation)). I went to a villain school for Bowser's most talented, yet under-developed crew members (even though he sees me as a daughter tbh) before the age of 15, where I was assigned to go to a 'hero' school to find out what the good guys are learning and how to counter act that. Idk what happens after that or during my young teen years because I wanna be taken by surprise.

How I view myself: I see myself neutrally, I sometimes get insecure but I always have Bowser, Bowser jr, and my friends to lift me up. And ofc, I get super confident in myself sometimes, usually because of my powers.

How other bad guys view me: They all have underestimated me at some point but I always prove them wrong by prolonging Mario's journey to saving Peach (unfortunately, he always saves Peach so that's the most I can do lol).

How the good guys see me: Since I'm a good manipulator and have mind powers, when they first meet me, they think I'm an innocent girl who also needs to get away from Bowser when I'm actually the opposite. But once they find out, they don't trust me anymore, although they always have the erg to trust me again:

Other stuff lol: I have a crush on Daisy..pls don't tell her...or my dad lol (he's not homophobic, he'll just freak out that I'm in love with a good guy lmao). I have a witch themed room and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I practice my powers and train every other day for the day my dad kidnaps Peach again, I'm not even required to, my dad only requires me to train on the weekends but I like having a constant routine and a constant break. Oh- I forgot to tell yall, Bowser's my dad! (Not biological ofc). I play video games with Bowser jr on the weekends (when he's done training), becuase my dad approves of my regular training routine. I'm older than bowser jr btw. I LOVE spicy food, I have such a big spice tolerance, the magma burger is my shit. My 'casual' fit is NOT casual in any sense of the meaning, I wear a cute black crop top with a black miniskirt that has a spider web design with platformer shoes that make me look 5'5 when I'm 4'11 (I'm so short lmao, although the other bad guys aren't that tall either lol), not only that, but I top off that outfit with my pigtails that show off my natural white-ish blonde highlights. I'm pretty smarter than most people initially think, like, one of my favorite subjects is math. I don't get tired easily, it's probably because I had to fuck up mario at nights buut maybe it's something else lol. Finnally, I let my hands do whatever if I don't have pockets, which usually makes the good guys think I'm weird, the bad guys don't mind cause there are so many different types of people there.

Costume Meta 6x07

Welcome to the Buck (with a little Eddie and Athena thrown in) costume meta!! This weeks costumes are more or less all about Buck - everyone else is in uniform the entire episode - Bobby gets 1 grey shirt, Eddie and Athena get two costumes each and Buck is out in front with 5!!! I’ve also included Connor and Kameron (or C&K as I’m now labelling them because typing their names takes me too long 😂) as there weren't actually that many costumes in this episode!

So let’s dive in!

C&K

Beige for Kameron - a neutral colour - friendly, welcoming and also bland and boring - it kind of reflects her in this scene - perfectly friendly, but also a little bland - she might be anxious about things, but she is’t hugely pushy nd doesn’t really cross any lines.

Same can’t be said for Connor, who continues to rock the check patterning - it was interesting to have the dominant colour of those check to be red - almost like he was a big red flag (his behaviour certainly was - especially that smirk when he told Buck everyone now knew his secret). I think its very interesting that we keep seeing him in check when we watch him being manipulative towards Buck - the whole ‘really gig favour, probably too big’ line thats very much designed to play on Bucks insecurities - its further proof that Connor understands which buttons to push to bend Buck to his will and the costume is backing it up - all the check doesn’t just play into my check theory for 911, but it also plays into the concept of a character who is cunning, by distracting the viewers attention from what he’s saying - a member of the GA won’t be picking up on what is being said to the same level as normal, the costume is making the eyes do more work (and thus taking up more brain power) because this shirt is brighter and has more contrast than the previous check shirts it becomes more distracting.

Bobby

Bobby’s brief appearance out of uniform sees him in a grey marl t-shirt - grey being a neutral colour is perfect for bobby in this scene - where he’s really more there by virtue of being Athena’s husband than he is as Eddies captain - Eddie is there to talk to Athena, not Bobby and so we have a neutral colour which shifts the attention onto Athena and Eddie - who are both in colour.

Athena

Here we have Athena in this deep dusty maroon colour top (which shows off Angelas arms amazingly!) maroon carried the meanings of both brown and red - so we have the energy and passion of red accompanied by the stability and wisdom of brown. I’m really enjoying the way they’re using a lot of vertical ribbed tops on Athena so far this season - the use of this texture is something we’ve seen before, but not with the same regularity - it contrasts nicely with the holey tops we’ve seen her in since season 1 - we’ve seen an increasing number of them as she has settled into her own skin and new life - which I think is a really lovely thing!

we do of course get to see a traditional Athena outfit - a black knot top with khaki trousers - where would we be if we went more than a couple of episodes without seeing her in this sort of out fit??

The thing we need to talk about most though is the fact that Athena has a new necklace - this one appears (to me at least) to be a bear, facing left. Bears symbolise strength, courage and protection and in an episode entitled cursed - when we see Athena seemingly the only one not really affected by the ‘curse’ This necklace also feels very much like its foreshadowing - We know May has a stalker next week and Athena is going to go into bat for May on that front so it plays into that storyline. I’m going to be interested to see if we continue to see more variety in her necklaces or if we see the same one or two for a longer period of time again!

Chris

Only the one very brief appearance for Chris this week - and I don’t really ahve a huge amount to say about a rash/sun shirt - other than to note that it has a logo for VAL Surf - which is a famous California surf and skate shop thats been around since 1962. I will make the comment that it is navy blue - almost the same blue (and style as well actually) as the first top we see Buck in - and there has been a little bit of costume mirroring between Chris and Buck so far this season, so it might be a relevant detail to make note of - because if it the mirroring is a deliberate choice to help foreshadow - then I suspect we might be seeing a tsunami parallel with buck and Chris together and in danger (which I would pay money to have happen - especially if it helps push Buck into realising what he as) and we’ve seen the show use Christophers costumes to foreshadow before - the surfers on his shirt at Bucks party in 3x01 is the most perfect example!

Eddie

so there are a few things to note about Eddies costumes from 6x07. Firstly - hello henley 👀😍 its good to have you back!v We’ve only seen Eddie in 1 Henley this season - the grey one from 6x05 and like I said in that meta, we’ve not really seen him in them since season 4. I’m very interested in the fact that its fully buttoned up - normally Eddie wears them with one button open and so to have him in a fully buttoned up henley, when he’s being very open with his family history is pretty telling - its his family, but not directly his story that he’s telling, but the buttoning up fully is a form of protection - as is the fact that we also have him back in army green - a colour we see him wearing when he’s feeling either defencive or when he feels he needs to ‘go to war’ for some reason - in this case its him trying to prevent someone suffering the same fate as his Abeula (and his wider family ) has at the hands of a con artist. This also parallels him with Athena once again - the two of them are really the only ones we see in this army/khaki green colour way and the fact we see them both in it in this episode - and when we have them so closely teamed up is very loud! I should also point out the lack of watch - I would expect to see his watch there on his right wrist, but we don’t - its always very telling when Eddie isn’t wearing his watch - it means he has time - that he is at a place where there is little external pressure or influence on his story - things are happening at his pace - when he wants them to. This plays into the narrative from the episode where we don’t see Eddie trying to directly (or in fact indirectly) step into what is going on with Buck - yes he is involved with the Feliza story, but this is also showing us Eddies growth - his recognising that he needs to let Buck come to him on his own terms, and be there for Buck when he needs him - that isn’t to say Eddie won’t step in - more that he’s recognising when is the right time to enter the fray - which battles are the right ones to choose - and thats really powerful - both from an Eddies growth perspective, but also from a future Buddie perspective.

Then we have Eddie back in the black tank top and just like before - here we have Eddie in an interesting place emotionally - in relation to his Abuela - having to accept that the path she is on is one she will remain on in some form because she’s into deep. There is also the direct reference to the Tsunami that we get in this scene - which will always put Eddie into a vulnerable place emotionally - because the knowledge that he could have lost everything that day but didn’t will always be something he carries with him.

There is also the very loud foreshadowing we got at the end of the scene which gives us another reason for Eddie being in a black tank top - its going to be something that puts him into a new emotionally interesting place - now we just have to wait and see if he will also be in physical danger - along side Christopher!

Before we get to Buck properly - we have to talk about the fact that he is wearing his watch. In. Every. Single. Scene.

Unlike Eddie, who has two watches (separation of work from personal life anyone!), Buck only has one watch, and also unlike Eddie, I think he’s had the same watch since season 1.

We never see him without it - and we get a close up of it! This is unusual for Buck - who wears a watch as often as he doesn’t when out of uniform and its especially loud in when we have Eddie ‘always wearing a watch prominently when he feels he doesn’t have enough time’ Diaz not wearing a watch at all in this episode (except when at work and all the firefam do that - its a part of their uniform!) - Eddie has time - time to figure out what he wants, whats in his future. Buck however doesn’t - further emphasised by his being up against the clock at the end of the episode.

Buck

The Buck in blue theme continues in tonights episode - we’re now sitting at 10 blue costumes to 6 non blue costumes - this is unusual to have such a dominance of one colour, especially so early in a season. Sorry the nerd in me is coming out in full force to give you some context! The most occurrences of one colour is10 for an entire season. This isn’t 100% accurate as I only did it roughly (I plan on doing it more fully and for each main when I get a chance to) but if we look at the colour breakdown season by season for Bucks non uniform costumes;

S1 - 14 costumes with 18 different colours S2 - 31 costumes with 33 different colours S3 - 34 costumes with 40 different colours S4 - 29 costumes with 38 different colours S5 - 35 costumes with 45 different colours S6 - 13 costumes with 21 different colours* as of 6x07

The higher number of colours is because when he is wearing jackets etc (and Like I said I only did a quick scan through, so its actually likely to be higher because I know I missed a couple of jackets) more than one colour is present As for individual colours - Buck wore blue 10 times in S5, grey 9 times in both S3 and S5 and 8 times in S2, red 9 times in 4 and black 8 times in S1 and S4. Blue (37) is his second most worn colour after black (39) followed by grey (32).

This probably isn’t that interesting to anyone but me - but if we look at the colours worn and which ones are highest, we can start to build a picture of character traits - I think my little hiatus project is going to be to create full colour plots for each character and I think there might be some graphs/ pie charts in my future 😂🤓😎

Anyway back to Bucks costumes for this episode - Bucks sperm donation attempt outfits were very interesting to me - we see all his failed attempts happen when he’s wearing blue and or white. The first one is a blue long sleeve tee that is remarkably similar to his uniform long sleeve shirt - just minus the logo and a slightly brighter shade of blue - interestingly its pretty much the t-shirt version of the sweater he was wearing in 6x04 for his conversation with Maddie

Then we have Buck in white - which as we all know is a sign of bad things ahead for Buck, but he is also in a vertically striped jacket (which you can see in the second picture), this jacket is similar to some of the shirts we’ve seen him wearing (4x14, 5x09 and 6x04) this continues to connect into my Buck vertical stripe theory - which I’d spoken about a little in my meta for 6x04, but I also answered an ask about it as well which you can read here if you haven’t seen it. combining the two and in an episode called cursed - very loud and very telling - even the white trainers play into it - white trainers meaning Buck moving forward in his search for love and happiness - which is ultimately where this story arc will lead Buck (even if its going to be a bumpy journey).

then we get another white tee;

followed by this knit polo shirt in navy and either white or light grey pin stripes - (I can’t decide which colour it is but I’m leaning toward grey!) All of these costumes are very much in keeping with the costumes we’ve seen on Buck this season

Then we have successful Buck - only now he’s in a mint green polo shirt - the first non blue/white top we’ve seen him in this episode. I’ve banged on endlessly about how green is the colour of health, growth and renewal and the choice to Put Buck in it her speaks volumes - because however this sperm donor arc plays out from here, it will lead to growth for Buck - he will learn from this experience and ultimately he will become a healthier person for this journey (he’s gonna break a bit to get there, but we will get healthier Buck out of it - in the same way we got a healthier Eddie out of his break down). Using green at this point in the arc is great - up to this moment it was possible that we could see Buck change his mind, or something could happen that means he never even made it to the point of donating, this in many ways fixes his path - and plays in perfectly to over zealous Buck who is going to really begin to understand the reality of what he’s done now his part in the process is theoretically over (I say theoretically because all those previous shirts and the things Oliver has said in interviews, plus the weird and inappropriate vibes I was getting from C&K suggest they still have a part to play in the story and that its not going to be pretty!)

And there we have it - fewer costumes to write about this week as they spent a lot of time in uniform, but I’m thinking next week might give me a lot of work so I’m already readying myself!!! lets start with 3 because thats where the timeline starts

they were team callie in the s1 final fest

they are wildly competitive

they sleep with an eyemask on bc the scrred eye glows in the dark (it bothers eight)

they value abilities over looks on gear so most their outfits are atrocious unless someone forces them to look good.

they can speak octarian

if they had a penny for every time they let an octarian who just got to inkopilis live with them theyd have two pennies. which isnt a lot but its weird it happened twice right?

which brings us to the next one which is actually an octoling oc i made back in like 2016??? def splatoon 1 era. shes been redesigned a bajillion times but the story is mostly the same. after the octavio fight she is also one of those octos who tried to get to inkopolis. this one was found by three who was like. i jave no idea what ur saying ur coming with the the old man totes knows octarian from his divorce. this n that and they teach eachother language and culture and its sweet and cool and they probabyl had some wlw stuff going on until 3 had a wholeass gender crisis

this is her btw. the drawing on the right is more up to date. im still thinking of renaming her. ill never find a name that fits. her original name was marianna but thats too close to marina!!!!!

shes also a fashion designer! she likes to use traditional octarian or military designs in her clothes. her pieces are not meant for turf wars though. shes still in close contact with three, and they hang out a lot. she wants to get three to ask the squid sisters if they could wear some of her clothes on a splatfest. three forgets.

next up!!!!! agent 4. i have two of those. they independently became agent 4 and then unrelatedly also became college roommates.

hash is more of a canon adjacent agent 4. poser, loser, really dramatic and really loud. kidna does whatever they want and also likes to leave graffitti on the kettles they clear. theyre also an only child. they also call marie mom jsut to annoy her. also their hairstyle is the bob in the front but the back is spiky/shaved. theyre a silly lil punk.

ikarus is a cynical asshole. and also a self centered poser whos set on looking cool for whoevers watching. he has 2 younger siblings and 1 older sister. hes from outside greater inkopolis, thinks hes better than the in city inkopolitans but behaves the exact same. he sucks i love him. he really looks up to n respects marie bc she reminds him of his elder sister. his fav brand is toni kensa

ikarus got the agent job first, n got rlly mad when they found out that theres another agent 4 bc he didnt show up enough nd marie just hired someone else. they share a uniform. they try to annoy eachother by puttinf the weirdest smelling stuff in the uniform b4 leaving it at the canyon. when talking ab em as agent 4 i like to use #4 for hash and n°4 for ikarus

the two also have a 3rd roommate

she doesnt have a name though. and if she does i forgot it :(

the three actually make a pretty good unit in their apartement. hash and ikarus only find out theyre both agent 4 when its time for the boss fight and both of them show up to get it done with. theyre both very competitive. they end up fighting over it and hash wins. ikarus is on the truck w sheldon and marie and is yelling insults at the battlefield until marie shuts him up so she can sing.

thw three roommates also always do salmon run shifts together. if they fuck up on a wave they always blame it on the one freelancer. yes they also kiss.

for eight i actually made this ref here recently!

theyve always been really fascinated with inklings and also were going to become an engineer before running off and landing in the metro.

they are very well spoken but also pretty shy. they try to make a good impression on people. finds it hard to trust others.

it took a while until he got used to sleeping in a bed. still sleeps with an eye open sometimes. its a habit.

theyre usualyl the one forcing three into at least okay looking clothes. oh also this tall loser likes to wear heels n platforms. hes literally taller than marina and still wears heels.

he actually started learning inklish back in octo valley from really outdated books. after coming to inkopolis hes been given a buncha annotated language books from marina (and from three, who still had the ones they used w the other octo girlie). but they still end up using some really old phrases and words that kinda leave some people perplexed.

oh also they're not THAT good at fighting (they were never a soldier) theyre smart and persistent though. still ended up severely in debt w pearl bc of the metro. pearl offered he can just work as stage crew for off the hook for a few tours or so and theyre good. he took the offer immediately bc bro barely got income to repay that all normally.

god your writing is just so good like usually i can’t read things about characters who’s personalities and dynamics i don’t like, but the way you incorporate horror and the feelings of hopelessness (esp in dr kry stories) just gets me HOOKED AND READING even if i’m like. (affectionately) horrified by the characters behavior.

that being said, pls hand over dr kry and hedwig so i can 1.) turn the tables and german suplex little doctor man into a concrete sidewalk so i can break all his bones and have him detained in a hospital bed!! :3 like the disrespect he puts US through trying to gaslight us into thinking WE’RE unwell…smh smh i’m not trying to be infantilized by no MAN. I’LL SHATTER HIS RIBCAGE!! 💥💥💥💥 and 2.) i want hedwig to watch all of it go down she can cheer me on in a cute cheerleader outfit and then she can call in her men to finish the job and lock kry up in some rando building idk and THEN we can go over to her house and have a little girly sleepover with snacks and cute stuffed animals and we can h*ld h*nds all night 💖💖💖and and and GOD HEDWIG I WANT U SO BAD. PLEASE.

i think youth is just like a basic cover but it's simple and easy on the eyes and just... u know there's not much to say abt it but that's also why i don't have much to critique... it's not the best cover of all times by all means but it's alright, basically!!

it is tied with first love because i think this one had the potential to be the best one by far, but as much as i Understand the colour palette in relation to the music (like...it makes sense it rlly does) it's just...not fully satisfying?? like i get it but also i dont u know...like i LOVE pink and i LOVE purple but something about this hurts my eyes in a way? i do think that the design is really nice tho and it Does fit the music it comes with!! (and also despite what i said about the colours this pink/purple version is still my fabourite out of the 3 colour palettes it comes in w the different versions? maybe because of how it relates to the songs. or maybe i'm just used to it)

challenge comes next, being also pretty basic (they all are.) but something about her is very satisfying? i love the purple tint she has to her and i think what she has going for her that sets her higher than the other identity covers are the mics in the bottom third of the picture? idk if im making any sense (nd u didnt ask for my rant) but i think it Frames them really nicely? making like a natural frame or like naturally directing ur sight to the group like it's just nice... i like what they did there . shes still a bit boring other than that but like shes fine shes not Bad

action & first sight are both v basic and pretty boring but they both have distinct points they have going for them!! i just personally really enjoy the fancy concept they set for action, that's a personal preference ig & i am a fan of the peach tone it has to itself!! it is also The wei album that i ownbfjevwk i do however dislike how the colour they chose for the text/logos blends into the picture, im not sure if it was the best choice they couldve made!

as for first sight, i See the vision and i do like her, and i guess from an objective standpoint she should be above action, but once again i just enjoy the aesthetic for action much more. but i do think the colour palette is more balanced here, it's more...hitting?? less of a visual mess??? that sounds like im bad mouthing action but it's just like... action's cover is one big fancy peachy mess when u look at it without paying much attention to it, u know? (??) . this one is very clear?? if it makes sense?? it also feels bolder? i really like the text/logo just like . the colours the fonts nd how its all positioned i rlly do enjoy it!!

nd finally starry night (which i almost forgot to include). i DO GET THE VISION i don't like the execution tho . shes a bit of a mess . very unsure about the fonts. the frame makes it feel way too . squeezed . its too big for the picture its framing . maybe just not the best idea to have such a big frame when ure trying to also present all 6 members of the group. it feels like the clocks are an important setail in there but u can barely see them. also the outfits are a bit of a mess esp colour-wise . maybe im just a hater bc i dont like starry night . but idk its a mess meg it is just a mess .
