You know, S-Crocodile has the potential to be an interesting addendum for Crocodad bc Crocodile just learned that his son is alive, and then two years after that, boom: clone Lunarian baby (who's also technically kinda sorta Luffy's half-brother?). The thing is, even if Crocodile bridges the gap between him and Luffy, Luffy's not the baby boy that Crocodile lost so long ago. He can take care of himself, has an entire crew to lead, and they may not see each other except for rare occasions. Crocodile didn't get to raise Luffy and will never get that time back. But S-Crocodile is a still a child who will likely have zero clue what to do without the programming and, since baby crocodiles are famous for loudly calling out for their mothers, may be desperate for a parental figure.

S-Crocodile is not a replacement for Luffy by any means, but more like a second kid had later in life who Crocodile was never expecting but who gives him the chance to parent in a way that he couldn't before.

See this is a much sweeter idea than me being like "what if Crocodile dies without getting to really experience being loved by his family/a community and have people care about him and so instead Luffy/other people end up projecting those feelings onto S-Croc and make sure he gets the love and community Crocodile never got to have"

Everytime I think about the lost time Crocodad implies I just die a little inside. Like Dragon might not have gotten to be with his son either, but at least he got to spy on Luffy on occassion, at least he got to check on him from afar and see him, know how he was doing, at least he knew Luffy's name. Crocodile didn't get any of that, and never will. Like you said, that time has been lost, and this hourglass can't be turned back and reset.

What is interesting though is that the Seraphim are supposed to have the personality traits of the OGs. Crocodile is quite independent, so I feel like S-Croc should be (or at least want to be, so he can appear strong etc) independent too, right? So S-Croc might want to be kind of a lone wolf, even if deep down he was sad due to his loneliness?

What's more though is that indeed, we don't know if S-Croc is pre-T or male (since he was made from post-T Croc DNA, and we don't know if Iva-chan's HRT affects DNA/those changes applied to the Seraphim). 'Cause if S-Croc is pre-T, Crocodile should know and understand how dysphoria is gonna hit S-Croc as he gets older (which is gonna be soon, since the Seraphim age faster). And like. I could see Crocodile just feeling bad for his Mini-Me because of that. I could imagine Crocodile just dragging S-Croc to Iva-chan (if there's an opportunity for it) and get that clone some T, spare him from going through the wrong puberty etc.

Point is, I feel like if Crocodile did somehow end up taking care of his Mini-Me, it might not be because S-Croc expressed a need for it. But it might be because Crocodile would be forced to reflect on his own feelings, knowing and understanding full-well how S-Croc would feel (be it about gender or loneliness), and just. Let the Dad Instincts take over, regardless of if the Seraphim likes it or not?

Perhaps not the way I was intended to find fun in this game (not that it’s not fun overall) but I’ve been really enjoying uncovering and, in some cases, finding some sources of errors in What in Hell is Bad? It’s… an oddly cathartic experience.

This is just a list of things I’ve experienced, so definitely not a comprehensive list of the experiences overall.

I’m just having fun, by the way! Absolutely no hate towards the devs— this is a massive undertaking for a small team, and it’s completely expected. Especially given their issues with their servers at launch.

Active Bugs:

L-Class Artifact “Shiny Leather Gloves” can break boss fights — presumably because it attempted to erase the boss, which leaves the units confused and stagnant while the boss continues to attack

L-Class Artifact “Sweet Cup Dessert” doesn’t seem to adjust when levelled? It always says “…he becomes invincible for 0.00s once during battle” which is arguably useless. May potentially just not be coded properly? Or I may be misunderstanding it (I have since levelled it again to 14, and still no change)

Graphical error in the “My Devils” screen— the word “Information” does not properly fit within the button

Another little one on the “My Devils” screen — when attempting to sort, changing the order will reset other options and doesn’t seem to work by itself regularly? Sometimes it does, often it doesn’t

When playing in a chapter, if a unit dies it sometimes appears to cause the enemy units to become undying. They stop attacking, their health bar appears to be at 0, but they remain and the level will not end

UPDATE ON THE ABOVE POINT: It seems to be when you move units. In one case I moved Beelzebub, and then moved him elsewhere again but the enemies still stopped where he used to be and he took damage as if he were in range of them. Subsequently, when he died the level broke.

During “Hell-oh! Talk” chats don’t simply end and you get the reward, if you click away you’ll need to go through the chat again and click once it’s over

Sometimes suggested character types are not actually viable in the levels

Sometimes when retrying a level the game will not bring up the devils to select, and if you leave the entire games graphical interface is messed up and you must restart the app

Necronomicon Exchange - Solomon’s Tears option does not properly reset with the week, giving users an error saying it’s not available when it should be

Already purchased items in the shop will not properly show that it’s no longer available— this will give you an error and restart the app

Already purchased shop items that should not be purchasable again will charge you, tell you it’s not available after that, and restart the app. You’ll be charged but not receive anything Add

Additionally to the above, should you have his charge you will then be plagued with “Item not available” messages each and every time you attempt to sign in

Fixed Bugs:

Gacha screen not properly displaying when pulling. Spotlights would not show, and Satan was missing his irises so you could only see his eye whites (it was creepy)

On the “My Devils” screen, the circle for the artifact was on the character’s abdomen, and was not selectable to equip an artifact at all

In the level select, for some reason all previous chapters I had cleared suddenly became locked again, but it did resolve itself

Text Errors:

This is obviously not going to cover every single line in the game, or grammatical errors (of which there are a lot, especially in early levels). This is more for one-off lines around the game outside of story.

I actually don’t remember a ton at the time of writing this, but I’m sure I’ll come across more or remember them.

During Foras’ Ultimate it says “I can’s see the enemies anymore.” When it should be “I can’t see the enemies anymore.”

On the Home Screen if you have Leraye set, one of his chat bubbles ends in “A10:AJ10” which is incredibly out of place. “His Majesty Satan brought a new teddy bear! My collection will soon increase too!!A10:AJ10”

Potential Quality of Life Improvements:

When pulling on the gacha, allow users to click to ‘interrupt’ a devil who was pulled (I sincerely do love their voices, but I don’t want to hear it every time if I have before) (Coming Oct 25th)

Automatically “sell” tea leaves for maxed out characters for pancakes during the gacha sequence

Have a “quick select” party you can quickly select from at the start of chapters rather than having to scroll through your list of devils each time

More accessible “friends” functionality— while not pivotal, I’ve found the screen once and then never again

In the chats during story missions, adjustments to text speed or a selection for speed so the characters aren’t talking so rapidly if someone can’t keep up with it

Grammatical improvements overall, though I noticed as the game goes on they’re either not as noticeable or I’m becoming desensitized

On the “Unholy Board” Auto scroll to the furthest active node

On the level select, auto scroll to the most recently unlocked level if not all levels are completed in the chapter

On certain levels a large portion of the map is not viable to place your units on even when it appears it should be— if something should not be accessible, make it clearer that it’s not (looking at you 3-86, you miserable thing)

On certain levels a bit more visibility — it’s not bad, but often scrolling still doesn’t show the whole map even if an enemy spawn is there (will only be partially visible)

Clearer UI for things like selling items from your inventory — it’s not readily obvious, so some people may simply believe it’s not possible if they’re not familiar with the game’s format

Ability to open all of an item if applicable (i.e. “Random Hallucination Devil Pie Piece Chests” and similar items)

Auto-Battle for completed levels (especially in Dark Sanctuary) — if you’ve already cleared it perfectly once, have it “remember” your team/movements from that battle (Arknights does this, and allows you to take over when needed) to make it a bit less repetitive and cumbersome. If that is too much, simply auto-clear it without showing us the battle since it has been proven we can beat it perfectly regardless. (Coming Oct 25th (Auto Clear option after perfect))

qcellbit telling qphil today that maybe roier was infact fine without him and that the time they spent apart couldve served him good cause hes was in such a bad state feels so. the shift is so jarring but also it technically makes sense. we reached the expected conclusion but its a shame we never saw quite how everything was meant to turn out like i WANTED spiderbit to enable each other and realize it was only self destructive and hurting them in the end i wanted that so badly i wanted qcellbit and qroier to realize they werent doing each other any good and that that wasnt the way to help or heal together but we never did. it sort of feels like with qcellbit he may have reached that conclusion in a more incomplete way which sucks cause its not on cellbit or the admins its just awful timing with everything that led to some lore not being able to be wrapped up properly and i mean we cant ignore what purgatory one did. in regards to the lore it was disastrous so many things went completely off track.

im mainly complaining i wish we could see more of qcellbit state of mind and how bad it was getting and the jump between where we left off in purgatory to him now. it feels like theres a lot missing we didnt get to see and its unfortunate.

i just hope that the lore and everything will be able to go a bit smoother from here and that this reset wont cause further plot points to be rushed over and unfinished completely

Surging Forward

When it comes to the Four Ps of Marketing, there is one that affects us the most. It raises eyebrows. It may cause mental anguish. And it hits where it hurts the most, the pocketbook. I can only be talking about one thing: Price.

As I was telling my undergrads yesterday, they have now lived through—and survived—a period of inflation. This hasn’t happened for 40 years, which I remember all too well from my university days. It’s the kind of thing you tend to remember forever.

While inflation is now more or less within a reasonable range (about 3.1% last month), our grocery bills are up about 25% in the last four years. You can thank the compounding effect for that. Some manufacturers have responded by reducing the size of the package, so they can try to maintain price points. Labeled as “shrinkflation” by President Biden and others, it gives the illusion that prices haven’t gone up, even though the unit price definitely has.

Given that we have all now become hyper-sensitized to price since COVID, it should come as no surprise that Wendy’s plans to test surge pricing for its hamburgers is drawing the ire of many. It’s bad enough that the price of fast food has skyrocketed, but now they want to charge even more during hours of peak demand, as well as at locations that are typically busier than others.

Surge pricing, which also goes by the moniker dynamic pricing, has been in use for decades. It’s what explains the matinee price at movie theatres, a time of day in which far fewer people are likely to see a movie. Airlines have done it for years, with peak demand times seeing fares much higher than off-peak. Add hotels to the mix, too. Business hotels are often weekend bargains for families, because all the people with expense accounts have gone home. And we all know how expensive food and beverages are at airports and stadiums, while not far away they are much lower.

Uber is another company leaning on this model, with the price of a ride reflecting the demand. If a stadium is emptying out, the price just went up. Many other retailers, from Amazon to Target, Kroger, Best Buy, and others have done it. The advent of digital price tags makes it all too easy to reset prices within a store, or even systemwide. Heck, I even saw it in Germany some years ago, with gas stations raising prices at peak commuting times, and lowering them during others. Shame on you for not refueling at a better time!

One of the more interesting aspects of dynamic, or surge, pricing is that used on Dallas-area toll roads and express lanes. Essentially, the price is set based on traffic volume. As congestion increases, the price for diverting to the express lane goes up. The thinking is that it might just be worth your added dollars to be able to zoom by the unlucky proletariat stuck in traffic. Be sure to wave as you go by. These lanes are the sky boxes of the highway system. At peak times, a person driving solo can pay up to $0.90 per mile for the privilege.

The weeks ahead will be interesting to see how the market reacts to Wendy’s move, and whether they stick to their guns or back down. If customers swallow surge pricing, it opens the flood gates for all fast food restaurants to do the same. It could then spill over into all restaurants, and everywhere else. Consumers will be left at wit’s end trying to keep up with what amounts to a wide array of possible prices for the things they buy. I suspect that apps and websites will arrive that allow for crowdsourced updates on all of it.

It’s the price we pay for being alive today. Inflation is one thing, but having to endure exorbitant temporary price hikes is quite another. Even staying home and being a hermit does not make you immune, because you still have to buy things. As for me, I’m staying in the slow lane just as a matter of principle, and because I’m still waiting for my salary to go up commensurately to account for the last four years.

I'd love to know more about your tsp swap au, and how the dynamics may be similar or different to your other au's. For instance, do they still come to a sort of understanding in this version of the game? If they do, do you think it takes them more or less time to come to an understanding? Is it still really a game at all, or is it a different type of story? Is it possible for them to escape?

Thing i want to keep is a sort of.... how their dynamic is NOT different. In the sense that Noah is the one who is telling/writing the story and its endings, and the Administrator is the one bringing them into existence based off that. In the same way Stanley reacts based off the Narrator's words, and the endings change based off Stanley's action. Both the same and the inverse. Idk if that makes sense.

They do come to an understanding I think but it is hard earned and it still has a lot of flaws. But it's also based off the Administrator realizing that Noah is.... not necessarily AFRAID of him, but absolutely feels trapped into doing what the Administrator wants without enjoying it. And that's.... that's a bad feeling to sit with, because the Administrator had an entirely different view of their relationship up to that point. he kind of really needed to rethink some things.

This is in direct parallel to what I wrote for the Narrator and Stanley after Zending! The Narrator learning Stanley's view of him is tainted with fear of punishment, and not wanting that to be their dynamic.

Buuuut I think it takes a lot longer for the Swap version to get there, and I also think there's a lot more complicating factors: both of them trying to figure out things without telling the other, because of a lack of trust, and lying to each other, AND the fact the Administrator has inserted himself into the workplace as Noah's "boss" and that's the position he sticks with.

It's..... kind of a game. It's really hard to put into words, because the fact is the environment DOES change based off will and choice, and it DOES keep the resets. If I'm going to show my hand here: It's still the Parable. They're in the Parable.

Okay - not necessarily a character, but moreso a concept that I am tacking on to a few characters between two different projects for the time being. The term "Time is a flat circle" generally refers to the idea that, since time is infinite, everything will eventually repeat itself- a bit like the infinite monkey theorem, stating that if you stick a bunch of monkeys in a room and have them bang on a bunch of type writers for an infinite amount of time, its pretty much a given that they'll eventually write out the complete works of William Shakespeare.

To put it into perspective, "Time is a flat circle" can best be applied to literary or video-format media; something that is the same in all appearances, even when you read or watch it over and over, remaining the same even if your own perspective changes. Your life will repeat an infinite number of times, and everything that has happened will happen again, and has happened before. Think Ouroboros. (Not to be confused with linear infinity!! or, a timeline without a beginning or an end, no closed loop)

How it applies to characters is below the cut, cos' this may get lengthy again (sorry)

(For a better look at the concept by someone who did a much better job at executing it than I ever will, check out No Through Road! Its a fascinating few videos really, and Maverick Files also covered it in a way that clears some things up if you find yourself confused.)

First off, the thus far Untitled Project, otherwise known as "Local Ancient Android Confused That People Give a Shit [About Them.]" There are three embodiments of fear known to date:

Locke: Only technically an embodiment, artificially created by means of the fear they cary and how they present themselves. Locke, to put it simply, causes the fear - they are the catalyst.

Deimos: A "true embodiment," per se. I've said it a bunch of times, but Deimos is the fear - his title is quite literally "Embodiment of Human Fear," he has it down to a science at this point.

Phobos: Another "true embodiment," Phobos is best summed up as the reaction to the fear - much like his (current) namesake, the greek god Phobos. Fight, Flight, Freeze, Flop, Friend and etc. So lightly connecting all of this together, you have this trifecta of Messed Up Little Guys™, which, as I talked about above the cut, can fall into two categories that I know of in terms of the fear cycle:

now, I haven't *really* figured out which way I'm going with this, and the Ouroboros-shaped one admittedly doesn't make all that much sense, but Deimos and Locke talk about things like this all the time when they meet up, (It's a little hard not to when you're both millions of years old and concepts such as those are essentially timeless) and it will likely come up often enough once I get an actual narrative rolling. Not to mention Locke's whole schtick of being mainly based on the metamorphism of stories and folklore at they move through different times and societies with different ideals, but that's besides the point. Undertale AU - guess who has a undertale au <<< this dipshit /aff This one also goes into "Time is a flat circle", but moreso into the idea of this concept breaking down - in short, time travel happened. What if Ouroboros choked? Well, then the giant cosmic serpent would bite itself, and thats just bad news all around. Also, it's entirely W.D Gaster's fault.

Now, theres already a loop going on in Undertale for obvious reasons (both in the fact that the game mechanics are made a very real part of the world in reseting and in the fact that Toby Fox just couldn't get the game to delete itself after completion and henceforth there is really no truly happy ending to what we see- killed by Flowey? super incredibummer, reset. Genocide? that sucks, there are in fact consequences for your actions, reset. reach the surface? well, the only way to continue on past this is to reset, so you and the monsters stuck in the underground perpetually. death of the author in some funky way I guess) so what's the harm in adding one more? Also, nice parallels. Also, because throwing philosophical concepts at my work is fun.

i just remembered i can like post shit again. uhhh here's some random ideas about a disco elysium detroit become human au crossover thing i was thinking about bc i read one on ao3 and i didnt like the worldbuilding/themes/etc very much i typed this up on discord to my friend very late at night so apologies for being mildly unintelligible

kim is an android. He's already deviant, but hiding it. Eyes(previous handler) helped him deviate and stay hidden as a deviant. He's an older model, so he's rare, and he's got some parts missing, but still a part of the rk line of androids. Maybe RK300-600 bc he's still a police android.

Harry backstory stays the same for the most part, except harry and dora got a child android and dora took the child android

New country named Mishigami(Michigan) with capital city Erie (detroit city's name comes from "le détroit du Lac Érié" so city's being named after lake erie instead of the strait. this means that the city's on the lake instead of a river but i dont care) and it's just detroit city. Events of dbh take place here and theyre mostly the same. Escaped androids are trying to cross the pale into revachol instead of into canada. Less of an issue with border control, but much, much higher chance of being scrambled in the pale. android revolution either happens concurrently, or after events of de

also earlier when de ends the union offers to buy kim for harry's precinct. Kim offers to just leave but that'd cause too much of an uproar. Viquemare finds out that kim is deviant, as do a few others, but thy're cool with it bc holy shit hes making harry a not mess for once

Kim sees Connor do the "i like dogs" thing and has the same reaction as when harry talked to the smoker on the balcony (Woah! This bitch deviant! Good for him. Hope he finds out soon.)

(?)Kim has skills similar to Harry, but they're exclusively in the mind palace, like where connor talks to amanda. The names of the skills are a lot more clinical than Harry's, and theres less of them

eyes is a friend of kamski's and he gifted him one of the rk series. eyes brought kim to the precinct bc he found him helpful and that's why Kim is a police android despite the fact that there shouldn't be any before connor

eyes died taking a hit for kim like he does in game. the precinct keeps kim around afterwards because he was useful and as a way to honor eyes

eyes took a hit either because he forgot kim could be repaired, or bc kim couldn't be repaired anymore. not sure which would be sadder

maybe eyes isn't called eyes in this? bc he's called that because de kim is blind as fuck so he had to be his eyes. that being said he could earn his nickname elsewhere

kim probably needed someone to vouch for him in order to be kept, so that's Alice I guess

Dora, Harry's fiancée, had rich parents. gonna make them rich bc they work for or own some part of cyberlife that does Android design. one of the Android designs being a rough copy of dora so now amnesiac Harry just keeps seeing these androids and feeling really horrible about it and having no idea why

Anne is the same type of Android as his previous Android child so Harry kinda just breaks down in front of her

Aurora Uber Service

Hey everyone! So there are a lot of people who are gonna miss the AURORA concert. Most people can't go to it after the season ended because they didn't buy the gold wings. But I did. So I'm starting a service.

The service usually be available between 2pm and 12 am EST, but there may be exceptions. I'll also add that I am still awake after 12 am, usually until 4 or 5 am, so if you wanna talk about it, we can, but you'll have to schedule for the next day, cause after midnight, I'm taking time to myself.

To discuss when you wanna go to the concert, just dm me. I'll usually reply in at least an hour if I'm busy (which I'm usually not), so there won't be much wait time.

Once you've gone to a concert with me, you can easily contact me again through dms if you want to go again. (Though, I'm pretty sure you can still buy the gold wings, just at the concert.)

I hope this helps anyone who wants to see Aurora again! (So you know, I'm in the Eastern Standard Time Zone, so reset is at 3 am for me.)

Why I enjoy the yips arc

Disclaimer: This essay is exactly what it says on the tin. If you hate the yips arc or get upset when people don't love Sawamura from the beginning, you will likely want to skip over this post.

For me, the infamous 'yips arc' sold Sawamura. To be honest, I don't tend to like MCs in anime. Especially shonen anime. They don't resonate with my personal experiences regarding competition, failure, and growth.

When I started Daiya, I didn't appreciate the loud-mouthed "hard worker" zero-to-hero sunshine teenage MC that was dead set on causing me as much second-hand embarrassment as possible. I only continued my journey with the story for two reasons: the rest of the team was more grounded, and the plot tended to not reward Sawamura's early egotistical or out-of-touch behaviors with instant success.

It was only when I hit the yips arc that I wanted to root for Sawamura to the end from the bottom of my heart. He was no longer just comic relief or a guy who would suddenly obtain convenient new skills to make sure he stayed relevant in typical MC fashion. While he had the yips, Sawamura proved himself to be a true competitor capable of meaningful fear. One who doesn't steamroll everything when it really counts because he's a prodigy protagonist with a can-do attitude that everybody loves. Yes, Sawamura remained a hardworking prodigy of sorts throughout Daiya, but he more explicitly needed the help of his team and deep self-reflection to reach his potential and move forward during the yips.

Now, there are a lot of people in the fandom who hate the yips arc. I completely understand not wanting to see your favorite character suffer. Especially when 'tough love' communication styles don't feel like love to you. It's also unpleasant to watch many beloved characters struggle to cope after a loss, all while a new villain (at the time) is introduced in Ochiai. But for me, who was not a Sawamura enjoyer until after this arc, I appreciated it. It became a core thread in the tapestry of Seido's team coming together during the aftermath of a foundation-shattering defeat.

A bit about the yips

For those unfamiliar with the real-life condition, the yips are a notoriously difficult thing to treat. There is no cure, just things to try or avoid. Even the help of the best psychological experts at top levels of play can fail to salvage a professional's game after years of treatment.

Many high school athletes have had their careers ended before they began by the yips, forcing them out of their sport entirely. Others recover with minimal help or after a short slump. The scariest part is that you don't know which camp you're going to be in, recovery or permanent breakdown, and you can switch between them at any point.

Although the prognosis for someone who develops the yips is uncertain at best, I've gone through and seen friends go through stages similar to what's shown in Sawamura's journey. I'd argue Daiya touches on these as realistically as it tackles the other disappointing realities of playing a sport. That is to say - it mimics the real deal with a touch of dramatic flair.

Now, I'm no expert on the yips or sports psychology, but I've simplified the 'stages' of the condition I have experienced or witnessed to exemplify why this arc resonated so well with me.

Stage 1 - What's happening?

Failure following a high-stress moment makes the yips seem like normal performance anxiety. It may take a while to realize what's happened if it only appears in specific situations. You try to shake off the bad memory with your normal coping strategies.

Performance anxiety is a constant companion in competition. Nerves after a bad performance, in particular, are expected. Sometimes you luck out and recover immediately. Other times you have to go back to basics or shake things up to reset, especially if your nerves only hit during performance situations and not practice.

You may attempt to ignore it in hopes it will go away like normal. When your usual attempts to get back in the groove all fail is when panic sets in.

We see this most clearly when Sawamura starts falling apart for the first time while throwing inside. It's a story shown through Miyuki more than Sawamura, strangely, since Miyuki's many responsibilities include helping his pitchers regulate their emotions.

As a catcher, Miyuki has a wide bag of tricks to get pitchers going after a slump. Although his caustic tactics are infamous, that isn't the only way he treats them during a game, nor does he treat every pitcher the same, especially after this arc. With Sawamura, Miyuki's go-to is riling him up. Sawamura loves to rise to a challenge. He pitches his best when someone's pushing him or he has something to prove.

But when Sawamura fails repeatedly to respond in his normal way to his calls inside, Miyuki realizes this may not be some normal fluke of bad control. We see Miyuki's darkened expression before he decides what brave face he's going to put on to get Sawamura back on track. He tries other tactics - joking to take the tension out of the situation and redirect anger to him, and eventually trying to directly reassure Sawamura - both of which don't fix the situation and lead us into the next stage.

Stage 2 - I've got the yips, but don't pity me

You realize that the muscle memory is "gone". Something you used to be able to do without thinking about it now forces your brain to focus on every step. You struggle with failure, fear of not getting it back, and the sympathy of others.

When you're a highly competitive person in a competitive environment, being told that your sub-par performance is okay is an awful feeling. It feels like a person is sugarcoating the obvious truth to spare your feelings. What should be a gentle attempt to cheer you up from friends or teammates can become confirmation that they never believed in you in the first place, especially when you usually have a relationship based around friendly trash-talk.

In the worst cases, you may feel like they expected you to fail when you thought you could succeed. They pity you as the 'poor, broken player'. And the last thing you want to do when someone treats you inappropriately softly is validate that you need to be coddled.

This piggybacks off of the previous stage and can serve as a mental block throughout the entire treatment process. What stood out to me in the story was how we mostly saw yips through the other characters. Sawamura didn't really ask for help. In fact, he was unusually agreeable to everyone because he desperately wanted to prove that he could live up to their expectations without those expectations being lowered.

You may recall this is the same player who said, "their kindness hurts". Sawamura thrives in the high-drive teenage sports environment where friends talk shit to each other because they believe in one another. When that stops, it hurts.

Sawamura doesn't want sympathy. He doesn't want understanding or pity because he knows the way he played was indefensible. All he wants is to perform again.

Stage 3 - Step away

Take a break from the affected activity to reset the brain.

This is to avoid cementing unwanted mental patterns. As they say, practice makes permanent. The break may be self-imposed or made mandatory by an authority figure. If you're part of an active team, it can include a demotion or temporary removal. That status change is demoralizing but necessary after the nature of your condition is clear, not only for the success of the team but for you to have less pressure on you while you change tracks.

This is also typically when your mentors start developing a plan to help you recover, or when they adopt a 'wait and see' approach before intervening further.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a sports psychologist at Seido. It isn't surprising, but it does mean we don't see that as a potential aid here. Instead, the treatment comes in a way many might consider 'old-fashioned' but is a reality for most people.

Taking an approach such as saying, "go run," without a full explanation of why the break might help or what the long-term treatment plan might be isn't something I'd personally recommend. However, it fits with what we've seen in the strictly hierarchical world of HS baseball at Seido. The coach very rarely or never explains himself to his players, and as readers, we often only find out what he's trying to do through analytical characters like Miyuki, who piece it together themselves.

This is also common, if not desirable according to some cultures, in competitive environments. The coach is in charge - you trust their judgment and assume there is a plan, whether or not you understand it.

This phase is also where we see Sawamura's other established teachers deciding what to do. Chris tells Kanemaru to wait and see, and that he thinks Sawamura will recover on his own.

Miyuki, on the other hand, waffles between not being able to spend time on Sawamura due to his own personal challenges as captain and responsibilities to his struggling team, and wanting to make sure Sawamura overcomes the yips. It's unclear if his motivation is due to guilt, friendship, practicality, or some combination of the three, but in the end, he decides he has to take a proactive approach.

Stage 4 - Everything and the kitchen sink

If the condition persists, try new approaches to replace the lost technique.

This might include learning a new skill so you don't have to do what the yips are affecting, moving to a totally different environment or league, trying a new position, or pursuing any number of therapies. Typically, the old technique is not being used at this point except to test progress. Sometimes this phase will allow a player to ignore their condition by cutting out the problem behavior entirely, thus letting them return to their previous position without recovering from the yips.

There are two main examples of this I can think of that we see during the yips arc. The most controversial is the advice by Ochiai to completely change Sawamura's delivery so he can remain useful to the team. Although this was quickly overturned because of the reason Ochiai suggested it - not actually to help Sawamura's recovery because he was already pitching again at that point but to make him 'useful' - a pitcher changing his delivery to overcome the yips is surprisingly not without historical precedent as an idea. Daniel Bard tried a huge number of things, including temporarily becoming a sidearm pitcher, to recover from the yips.

Ultimately, Miyuki, Chris, and Katoaka settle on the skill replacement idea by teaching him the out-low. It's unclear if the original idea came from Miyuki or Katoaka, though the implication is this was Miyuki's plan, and Chris agreed with it when approached, reversing his previous stance that Sawamura could recover on his own.

Regardless, all three seem hopeful that this new set of pitches can get Sawamura back in the lineup and help him recover mentally. Even with that hope in mind, they know he may or may not ever be able to pitch inside again. That isn't the point of teaching the out-low, though it would (and does) make him more dangerous if he can regain his original pitches. The point is to catalyze a return of Sawamura's confidence for his own sake and that of the team.

It also serves as a foundation for an important mental skill. Relaxing. As goofy as it looks, it works well for Sawamura and makes an enormous difference in his pitching.

Stage 5 (hopefully) - Oh hey, it's back!

With a lot of repetition, experimentation, and a healthy dose of luck, you spontaneously regain what you lost.

If you're one of the lucky ones, your mental block may disappear as suddenly and quickly as it appeared. Something 'clicks' and you're able to perform as you used to. The recovery isn't always permanent, unfortunately, and even if it is, you'll need to practice on your good days to make the consistency stick after so long away.

Ultimately, Sawamura is able to recover after persevering through several games. It was both a joy to see and unsurprising, considering the nature of the story. In Sawamura's case, he ends up stronger for having gone through the yips. Not only mentally, after having his often naively optimistic nature challenged, but physically with a wider pitching repertoire.

One thing I want to make clear before I finish

Although dealing with the yips does require incredible mental strength due to its frustrating and demoralizing nature, recovering or not recovering doesn't prove your superior or inferior character as a person. No person, technique, attitude, or therapy has been shown to reliably reverse the yips once they've occurred. All you can do is work hard, experiment, and hope it pays off. Thankfully for Sawamura, it did, and it allowed us to see him mature significantly as a person and a pitcher.

As the year ends i keep thinking how this year was.... something. I feel like life gave me a soft reset and i dont know what to do with it, it's not as much as i was given a second chance on things but as if everything ive built suddenly crumbled down with no warning and im now forced to work around this, for better or worse.

This year already started horribly, after all i just left from a year where i was being humiliated, shamed and scolded for not being sad about my uncle's death, a man they all know tried to kill me multiple times before, i dont know if i am fully over that still.

At the beginning of the year i am suddenly invited to live with someone i honestly didnt even know and since i was so eager to leave home i accepted but didnt realize how much pressure that would place on my back, as suddenly i was responsible by so many things and specially the person. A horrible gamble that only made my situation at home worse because i left after a fight, never contracted anyone and suddenly i had to come back and pretend nothing happened, worsening my relationship with everyone now that they know i hate them.

I actually dont even remember what happened in April anymore besides the fact i tried to kill myself, i only know this because i told some people but my memory of it is completely gone however it is relevant as it is now May and im a very depressive episode the whole month due to my current treatment and i then suddenly forget my mother's birthday at the end of it, im at my worst day and im being guilted and dragged into a birthday party that i do not have since im 10, without a shower, without time to comb my hair, looking my worst in a place full of people who actively hate me, who told they hate me many times, i felt vulnerable and violated, i had to leave early and had a panic attack which led me to go back into self harming, something I hadn't done for years but this is what brought it back and now i was in a very bad mood and locked at my room

Then immediately after, the person i lived with for what was nice for a month or two, she made me start my hrt and gather my documents to change gender and name officially, and gave me many other things but now there was a problem, she was so... obsessive and possessive over me and i never had shown any interest in her and this became weird fast, everything she did felt like she was trying to win me over, all the gifts all the help, it felt like she saw my state and thought i was mentally vulnerable enough, that she could "save" me which eventually led me to be highly uncomfortable and start distancing myself. She got mad at me, started telling me i should go to therapy despite the fact im open to the fact im not returning to one, there was a random threat of sending me to a psych ward, she questioned my relationships and said they were all bad for me despite barely knowing the people i involved myself with AND me, and as i exploded due to my already bad mood and my frustrations about how she was invading my personal space and thinking she is important to me, that only certain people could, she used my words to spread it to all my old group of friends in a way that made it seen like i hated them.

I was immediately abandoned by everyone i knew since 2015 or even early, the only stable relationships i had my whole life, i was called many names, thrown away without a second thought and only for me to find out this was already coming, that they already had a secret chat to talk bad about me without me knowing way before all this, so all this did was give them an excuse. Of course i also no income and now with her doing this, i have to sustain myself with my hrt meds, something around $40(BRL120) per month and $80(BRL240) every four months, my family already hates me and now i need them to buy these, further decreasing even the food i receive and now i can not ask for anything, not only that but i am now being forced into a job i can not have, causing me to once again cut.

It's been like that for two more months, i only gathered enough courage to leave the house once in July to pick up my new altered documents and once my birthday came in September, almost no one remembered, two people did but not even my partner at the time did — all while i watched so many people with September birthdays, even the same day as mine get everything, birthday wishes, gifts, a party. I have a horrible relationship with birthdays, i never had birthdays past 10yo, all i get since then is a cheap chocolate box and a rush to find a job and leave the house and this year was no different but with the added flavor or being blamed for the lack of money due to my meds. To me, birthdays represent the day i start existing and if no one says anything about it, it tells me I shouldn't exist, which is what i thought that day, I was forgotten by everyone again, i ended everything, even with my old partner, that was the third cutting in less than 5 months.

I truly was at my lowest by the end of September and only by October i would have better news, it was when i got much closer to p-chan, my current gf, when we started dating... he cares so much for me, helps me at my lowest moments and makes me feel secure, i now have new people around me that i talk more often with and even if things at home have not changed, they are a lot more manageable when i have someone that understands my mind and is able to help me stay mentally stable after everything i went through this year, i really have no words on how grateful i am to her, she has been my light this whole end of the year, i am going to next year a little more hopeful for the better which is more than i can say going to this year. Ive been beaten down this year over and over and over, with barely any time to breathe, i dont think i am over anything in it yet and im back into my self harming behavior, with cuts as new as two weeks ago but i am better than i was at the beginning of the year and that makes me know that i can start over next year, with better people at my side.

Ahh! Your submas wanted au is great. I’ve lost so much time just going through them all when I should have been sleeping but I don’t regret it even if I end up dying at work now. This is my first time doing an ask so I’m sorry if I’m doing it wrong. But I was wondering, did you have Hisu have its own language or at least an older dialect? I head canon that Hisu language is an older version of Sinnoh’s.

So, like when Ingo & Askari first come back they only know Hisuian but as they come into contact with more people, good or bad, they remember modern language? Or they do know modern language and just revert to Hisuian when stressed (and them being hunted is definitely stressful) or overtly emotional? Or just revert when talking to their Hisuian Pokémon?

If you do have them know what’s probably a dead language then that might cause Cynthia to pause and actually think about what’s going on. After all, these “Pokémon thieves” know a dead language from the time when the Hisuian Pokémon were common. Or even what normal people might think about these thieves knowing a dead language could help to start changing public opinion.

I cannot tell you enough how honored I am to have been the cause of your poor sleep schedule. I do hope you survived your work day!! And your first ask is going great because that is a Fantastic idea!

Like I loved the idea different languages between Sinnoh and Unova/ Galar early on, what with Professor Laventon occasionally using English in the original Japanese, but scrapped it because that could have caused difficulty in the modern chapters with interactions with characters from different regions, especially online.

But! But!! An old dialect/ dead language for Hisui specifically is great. I mean old English and modern English sound totally different! So the old language of the Pokémon world could be completely different from the modern language as well!

Like, I feel like regional accents and slang are still a thing among the regions of the world, but for the most part, for conveniency sake, everybody in the regions involved speaks the same language. But since language is constantly evolving, what people spoke in Hisuis era, and in Hisuian dialect specifically, could be totally incomprehensible to a modern ear.

So the question remains… did Arceus do a hard reset on Ingo and Akari’s language abilities when they were dropped into Hisui??

In Akari‘s case I want to say yes, she does not remember modern language and has no problem communicating with the people of Hisui, though she may still have a modern Sinnoh accent. But, if she encounters modern language she will understand it but not know why.

For Ingo however, Aka Arceus’s rough draft, that might not be the case. I like to think that the found footage video of him getting mauled by a Zoroark was entirely in modern language. When I wrote my first version of this fanfic, of when Sneasler had found and adopted Ingo, he couldn’t speak in the Hisuian language at all and Irida believed he had suffered a serious concussion.

Like, I love the idea of Pokémon understanding this strange outsider the clan leader brought back before the people could. He does pick up more and more Hisuian over the first year that he’s there, until one morning he wakes up with a perfect knowledge of Hisuian after Arceus realized they forgot to change Ingo’s language preference and just instantly made him fluent.

So Ingo still knows modern language, and even speaks in it when he talking to himself or his pokemon. He still shouts ‘All Aboard’ in the modern language and most of his train references are still in modern out of habit. He’s still considered strange and hard to understand at times, having an Unovan accent, but he’s respected as Sneaslers Warden.

And then Ingo meets Akari, the young lady who fell from the sky. When he first heard of her and her odd origins he asked if she spoke another language like he had, hopeful for a lead on who he was and where he came from, but learns that she has no trouble communicating with others. He assumes this means his own origins shall remained unsolved, until he sets out to travel with Akari.

Ingo knows when he slips into his first language on accident because the person he’s speaking to will get confused, but this oddly never happens with Akari. Even when he knows she shouldn’t be able to understand what he’s saying. Yet she only ever replies to him in Hisuian.

It’s only later when he sure he’s not imagining it that he asks her how she knows that language he can speak. She’s confused at first before finally realized that Ingo is in fact speaking another language that somehow she can understand just fine. It’s such a weird curiosity that their friends are fascinated by, they assume this means that Akari must have come from wherever Ingo came from if she can understand him.

Akari’s ability to speak in modern would be another story, she tries to speak it, she thinks of the words in her head, but her mouth has trouble forming the words and remembering the sounds. Ingo helps her but it’s a struggle. Godly changes have weird after-effects it seems.

And in the modern day!! This will add a whole other layer of mystery to them! Not only does Ingo have a weird crime niece/daughter who already hides her face, but also one who barely talks and when she does it’s often in a language no one can understand. And Ingo seems to know this mysterious language as well and will talk to her and their pokemon in it.

Cynthia, of course, would know both old and ancient Hisuian. Most of the text written of the ancient myths were originally written in old Hisuian. So, weeks into the chase of these thrives, is when the ‘mysterious language’ is finally caught on recording for people to hear. When Cynthia hears it, spoken so fluently and naturally between the two, everything grinds to a halt and she knows something is up. Not even Cynthia herself to speak old Hisuian that well at this Akari’s age.

She starts quietly looking more into this research lab and nicely asking for more and more of their information on how they made this miraculous Scientific achievement. (It’s after they start feeling the heat for the former champions sudden intense interest in their work that the lad takes the rash action to steal the eggs.)

Meanwhile, the rest of the world is very confused when the historians start pointing out that the language that Akari and Ingo have been speaking, at such an expert level might they add, is the now dead language that existed back when these pokemon variants walked the world. The conspiracy theorist go wild but the rationalist are baffled.

Also I feel like Pokémon generally wouldn’t have too much trouble understanding between Hisuian language and modern language. They can very easily pick up on body language and tone, so it’s easy for then to technically learn a new language as their understanding of communication goes beyond just words.

Insights on the Wildermyth's Gorgons

This is a post about my own insights on how the Gorgons function mechanically and how a party of heroes might optimally fight them.

I'm mostly writing these down for my own benefit (need to process these ideas) but I hope others appreciate my insights here.

Gorgonoids

Gorgon monsters are separated into two types: Gorgonoids and True Gorgons

Most of the monsters you'll be fighting will be Gorgonoids - animals corrupted by the Gorgons to serve as their minions - supported by a few true Gorgons and Gorgon Seacallers.

They come in all sizes, from the single-tile Roes, Ragers, and Raccoons (corrupted deer, boars, and raccoons), to the 2-tile Bogmoors and Gheists (mutated frogs and bears), to the large 4-tile monsters that are the Staggron, Bartoth, and Usric (advanced forms of the Roe, Rager, and Gheist).

Gorgon Corruption

The mechanic common to Gorgonoids is their death mechanic - when a Gorgonoid dies, they leave behind a patch of corrupted ground that slows and deals magic damage to non-Gorgons that step on it. This corruption will fade in a few turns, after which the ground will be just as safe to cross as before.

Certain calamities may also give single-tile Gorgonoids the ability to leave corrupted tiles as they pass. Be mindful that you don't get surrounded.

Each corrupted tile only deals 1 magic damage. Thankfully, corruption doesn't stack, as you may end up killing multiple Gorgonoids in the same areas, though it will reset the time required for corruption to fade.

Tactics Tips: Killing large numbers of Gorgonoids in quick succession and in close proximity to each other may hamper your ability to maneuver through huge swathes of the terrain. Try not to get surrounded. The Sentinel ability may be a bad idea in heavily corrupted terrain.

Single-Tile Gorgonoids

Roes tend to be less protected compared to the single-tile monsters of other factions, but come with more health to compensate, and will come in numbers in the late game.

Ragers are the Gorgons' charger unit - they have the ability to walk through scenery, damaging it as they go, allowing them to get past your cover to attack you directly.

Tactics Tip: Mind your heroes' positions and the cover they take. You may be exposing your vulnerable mystics and archers to Rager attacks.

Raccoons don't do a lot of damage, but make up for it with a ranged attack that shreds your armor, leaving you more vulnerable to the physical attacks of other monsters. They also receive a special calamity that gives their attacks a small area of effect.

Tactics Tip: Raccoons aren't the most durable, so having a Hunter with Archery in your party will give you rapid counter-fire capability. Fire enchantments may help, since Raccoons come in groups.

Two-Tile Gorgonoids

Bogmoors are troublesome for two reasons: 1) their tongue attack can pull heroes out of formation/cover, to be more easily swarmed and attacked in melee, and 2) killing them spreads corruption to half of all adjacent tiles as well as where they were standing.

Tactics Tip: Range, reach, and knockback will protect you from the corruption splash, if you have room. Invest in block/dodge, find cover, or use friendship bonuses to avoid getting pulled by its Noxious Tongue.

Gheists are strong, tough, and come with a multi-attack, shredding armor before dealing significant physical damage.

Four-Tile Gorgonoids

Staggrons feature the ability Call of the Stag Lord, which summons three additional Roe to their side, directly boosting the Gorgon's numbers in combat.

Unlike Ragers, Bartoths deal ranged magic damage rather than charging through the scenery. Its true danger, however lies in its Thundering Blood ability, amplifying the death throes of a Roe, Raccoon, or Rager, causing them to explode when killed, dealing magic damage and spreading corruption in a 2-tile radius.

Tactics Tip: Killing a Bartoth removes Thundering Blood from any affected Gorgonoids.

Usrics deal damage in an area, not just to heroes, but to the scenery as well, efficiently stripping heroes of cover and shredding their armor.

True Gorgons

There are only two true Gorgons you will ever face that aren't unique units: the Gorgon, and the Gorgon Seacaller. Both are 4-tile units and wield incredibly debilitating abilities.

Whereas Gorgonoids focused on punishing hero mobility through Gorgon corruption, Gorgons will eliminate your mobility entirely, attempting to pin heroes to the spot and lower their defenses.

Warrior Abilities Tip: Zealous Leap+ clears pinned on use, and Stalwart+ completely immunizes you to Status Effects such as Pinned.

Gorgons wield a ranged ability called Pinning Toxin, which does some magic damage and pins the affected hero. They do a lot more damage in melee with their claws. Be warned - even if a hero survives being downed by a Gorgon, they are likely to suffer a petrified limb. While the petrified limb does not persist in the legacy, it will prevent transformations of that limb and, in the case of an arm, prevent you from holding off-hand or two-handed items.

Gorgon Seacallers rarely engage in combat directly. Its ranged attack does moderate magic damage. Its true role is to corrupt soil and to use corrupted soil to summon tentacles, which will pull heroes out of position and pin them in place. Be warned that these tentacle attacks will also set up flanking attacks from other Gorgons. Thankfully, a tentacle immediately dies after attacking someone in this way, and does no damage.

Miraculous Fic Rec of Underrated Stories Pt. 1

I read too much fanfiction. In efforts to slow myself down ive decided to start a rec series. These are all the stories ive read that are not my top recs, but definitely underrated. Give them some love!

Jealousy, Jealousy by MyFairKatie

Adrien takes it upon himself to make Lila as jealous of Marinette as he possibly can—which may or may not lead to him blurting out that they are dating.

Whoops.

Not labeled as crack but definitely crack. Or at least, I take it as such given the liberties taken with the characterization. I think its funny and the lila takedown is refreshingly different amidst the large body of preexisting lila takedown fics.

Complete, 18k, 4 chap

When Marinette invites Adrien to live with her temporarily while she recovers from an injury, she thinks the hardest part is going to be hiding her feelings from him. But Adrien's idea of being helpful might go...a little overboard.

Some solid post reveal pre relationship adrienette. I like the emphasis on communication. Theyre adults and have already defeated hawkmoth, so its a chill dynamic.

Imposter Syndrome by highspeedearth

Impostor Syndrome: when you believe it is only a matter of time before they find out you don't know what you are doing.

Marinette had a bad day, and this time transforming into Ladybug doesn't help.

Chat Noir plucks her off the Eiffel Tower for a pep talk.

Hurt/comfort for sure, but i really like the angle. Written pre season 4, so when it discusses marinette under stress, its not from a guardian angle. It lets the characters really think about how their perceptions of what their bodies are capable of have changed due to holding a miraculous, and the tone of the story is very nice. Almost slice of lifeish? This could be inserted into canon and break nothing, while still being meaningful. Nice read

They knew, and there would be no magical reset button for the memories they'd made today. She'd have to see him at school every day, and she'd see the Chat in him, as surely as he'd see the Ladybug in her.

They remember the events of oblivio au. I highly enjoy stories where learning each others identities does not lead to a no-discussion lovefest. This is a great marinette pov of her overthinking everything and questioning the validity of her feelings. No salt is thrown in the process and its a nice feelings analysis and resolution.

Missed me, Missed me (Now You Gotta Kiss Me) by orphan_account

When last minute plans come up, Chat Noir leaves the country for two weeks. Ladybug finds she misses him far more than she thought she would.

One word: ladynoir. Story ignores ladybug falling in love with chat, just jumps straight there. Its just 5k of pining guys. Their interaction is funny, gotta love the ladynoir quips. And the author LEAVES THE STORY AT THE WORST (BEST) PLACE ARKRGOGMGNGKDKSD

Plagg and the Variety Cheese Pack by quicksilversquared

Plagg can sniff out cheese anytime, anywhere. It's a special talent of his. But it can get him in trouble as well.

When Marinette buys a variety cheese pack for Chat Noir, Plagg sniffs it out and ends up accidentally going home with her. Will he get back to Adrien before the next akuma attack?

(Probably not)

Hijinks and shenanigans, unsurprisingly. Plagg-centric, which is great cause he (and the kwamis in general) deserve more love. I like how adrien circumnavigates plaggs eccentricities and how its funny in the story, while not ragging too hard on plagg for being difficult.

During a tipsy evening, Adrien kisses Marinette’s forehead.

Understandably enough, Marinette has a complete meltdown.

Explicit story, rated 18 and up. Post reveal. Marinette is hilariously thirsty throughout all of this, and her only barrier is herself. Vibes a bit like a slow burn despite being a oneshot. Despite the tag, i would definitely catagorize this as a pwp.

Lila takedown story + identity reveal. Set at a fancy christmas party. Hits all the right beats without any salt or out of nowhere identity revelation. I think its pretty in character and trim, albiet ignoring canons problems with identity reveals.

Ladybug is exhausted, and Chat convinces her to finally start bringing on the temp wielders permanently.

Unfortunately for Chat's poor kitty brain, she chooses to use that opportunity to set up Multimouse with Aspik.

He is SO SCREWED.

Unlikely to be finished, so just treat it like a oneshot. But its got some lovely ladynoir interaction, ladybug and chat noir actually in an equal partnership, some mouse!marinette, and some bee!adrien, desipte what the summary says. I think that matchup makes way more sense, so its cool to see it. I love vipermouse, its just like adrienette except even sillier and more fabricated complications.

Okay so hear me out:

Rouxls Kaard.

We know Deltarune has a lot of "unused" scenes that seem to be tied to a timeline that doesn't exist. This suggests time travel shenanigains, which... yeah, the save points back up.

But first a quick refresher on Rouxls Kaard. Rouxls is constantly a bit off, to the point where we don't know if he's just Like That, or if there's More To Him. His name is based off Rules Card, an object he seems to be at least somewhat based off of.

He can create simple puzzles that use just about any mechanic, but he always shows them to you a little late. That's funny at all, but I'm gonna need to come back to this, cause it's actually kind of important.

Now, i gotta talk some about theories I've seen around the unused text. Unfortunatly, they seem to have been recommended posts so now I'm having trouble finding them so please leave a reblog if you have the ones I mention :/

The first one I'm going to call out is the one about Susie and Dads. One of the changes we've observed in this world compared to the ones in the unused text is that Susie and Lancer are friends. That didn't happen in the unused text. Why? I'll return to this.

Another theory going around is that Kris died protecting Susie before the world was ultimately reset. Given that we are the only ones we've met so far who can reset the world, that's worth raising an eyebrow. We don't have a Flowey this time, and Sans hasn't made any relevant jokes. We might be the only one we know with this power.

Except this is where Rouxls Kaard may come in. We've seen time and time again that he

Always shows up in the right place

Can pretty much do whatever he wants, but in a simplified way

There's also something special about the Rules Card that I think is relevant. You usually don't need them for normal play. It's only when the game gets into a weird situation that you really look at them.

What could make a weird situation? I mean... the protagonists dying would certainly do that. And if Susie and Roulx Kaard were the only ones to make it out of a bad situation, I could see a low quality save reset puzzle being the absolute best thing that could happen.

Speaking of which... you remember when I said I'd come back to Rouxls Kaard always being a bit off about his timings? Well... I can certainly attest to the fact that my timing is always a bit off when I play a game for a second time. Some things I expect early, others I expect late.

But that knowledge can still stick with me. Which brings us back to why suddenly Lancer and Susie are friends. We know that Rouxls secretly adores Lancer, right? To the point where he's a "Lesser Dad"? Well... in both versions of Chapter 1, Susie stands up for Lancer. She's proven herself friend material and protective. If Roulx knows this already from time shenanigains, then he'd have a very good reason to send Lancer to meet us early, hoping that we'd build some form of relationship and change the way the story turns out.

After all, the Rules have the power to determine how the story ends... even if the players choose how it gets there.
