What’s most interesting about the recent god lore, with Predathos consuming both Ethedok and Vordo, is that in a way their vibes and provinces eventually do turn up again in the form of the Raven Queen. She is the goddess of death yes, but she’s also the goddess of fate and winter (at least in Tal’Dorei and Wildemount, whether she is still the goddess of winter in Marquet as the Duskmaven remains to be seen). Additionally, Tharizdun is the god of darkness, meaning that its province is also now a remnant from a time before the Schism and Ruidus.
There’s a few things that are now running around my head: first, the Raven Queen. Since she became the goddess of death, it’s not improbable that as she ascended her ritual also took the godless provinces of fate and winter, becoming the Matron of Ravens we all know and love. Whether or not her apogee solstice also coincided with a Ruidus flare is something to find out in-game but if she became the goddess of fate and winter it’s not the biggest leap to make. The fact that fate and winter were available as provinces to take also may speak to the rest of the gods, both Prime Deities and Betrayers, not wanting to take those provinces out of respect for their dead siblings.
Secondly, Tharizdun. The moment Matt started talking about a creature from “beyond the stars” my mind immediately went to the good old Chained Oblivion. Now that we know one of the forgotten (dead? consumed? ripped from the fabric of the world?) gods was a god of darkness, and that Predathos created its own mockeries of creation, twisted things etc. What if Tharizdun was not actually one of the original gods? What if it is a child of Predathos, a theological chimera of Ethedok’s darkness and Predathos’ destruction?
Wild that I can go from missing Karlach and Wyll in this playthrough to hoping they show up in act 3 when you talk to Gortash so I can kill them djdjdjjdjd
𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗰: "For shame you torn down our family's dignity! Why don't be like John here?"
𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗶:"I'm terribly sorry..."
This is like when a young girl gets scolded by her parents for cutting a statue of Virgin Mary's finger back in highschool. (true story except a male student was the real culprit)
I'm just. So tired. I can't be the only gentile who thinks that wishing violent death on anyone who thinks the geopolitics of the I/P conflict aren't as black and white as "Israel bad, Palestine good!" or "Palestine bad, Israel good!" is, y'know. Bad?
Like, you get these kids (as well as people who are old enough to know better) who want to prove they're More Leftist than Thou who will shout about how much they hate Nazis and fascism, and then turn around and say that the Israelis should be cleansed from Palestine, often while spouting straight-up word-for-word Nazi propaganda.
It's really been jarring seeing so many people whom I had previously admired and respected for their leftist views and takes not only start falling for and parroting virulently antisemitic propaganda, but outright stating that anyone who thinks Israel has a right to exist at all should be murdered horribly. They're going on and on about all of the Islamophobic attacks happening around the world right now (of which there are a lot, no denying), and yet they're dead fucking silent about all of the antisemitic hate crimes happening at the same time.
Again, it's possible to want a free Palestine and a free Israel at the same time. It's possible to believe that both Palestinian children and Israeli children deserve to grow up without having to worry about bombings and terrorist attacks. It's possible to want peace and freedom for one without wishing terror, genocide or subjugation on the other. It's not a zero-sum game, for fuck's sake.
Also, it still galls me how many white Americans I see rabidly calling out for the blood of the "colonizing Jews" while they themselves live in a country which was founded by European invaders who committed wide-scale genocide against the native populations and whose government has been gleefully committing all manner of war crimes and atrocities across the world ever since. If Israeli civilians deserve to die for their government's crimes, then what do we deserve?
i'm not very good at picking apart certain types of lore, but i just need to get this off my chest.
can we talk about Rhulk?? i was looking at the art station page with all the art and concepts about him, and i feel like he is not getting nearly enough attention.
firstly, he is literally the last of his kind? we've never seen someone like him before?? he goes from calm 0 to absolutely feral 100 in a matter of seconds. and it shows in his visuals so much, beyond the raid mechanic.
if you look at the aforementioned art, a lot there has to do with "neural" system. what is up with that cocoon we see him in first? is it a part of his physiology? it is just a thing??
then, that enormous amount of "wave" aesthetic about him. can his species manipulate physical forces on a physiological level? how does it all work?
have you seen how he sits??? he's a literal cat, i'm losing my mind.
i know some of my questions might have answers in the lore i haven't read yet, but i just want everyone to look at his concept art because Rhulk is amazing 😱 bungie please throw me a bone of Rhulk lore.
