How is L not a good person
Well, anon, thanks for the ask, in the first place.
Now, it's more than obvious that i love him to death, I'm not in any other fandom, i don't have any other fictional loves at the moment, so my emotional position concerning him is painfully clear.
That being said, he is obviously morally gray at best. Starting from:
(1) his choice of cases. If he were truly a good person, he would be genuinely interested in solving cases for humanity's sake, but no, he only picks cases that give him a thrill, or have high stakes (in money or number of victims). So, his primary drive is selfishness and/or gratification. It can also be argued that he is just One person after all, and thus he Has to pick his cases, he's not a machine to be able to (have time to) solve every single thing thrown his way. But still, he is more interested in the puzzle of it than helping the people involved.
(2) His ginormous ego. Like......godlike huge, even if he lowkey has the right to it, given his intelligence, means and power scope. However, he is only 24-25 and has been treated as this awe-inspiring machine all his life, being radically different from most people out there, whom he may perceive, on some level, and not entirely unjustly so, as inferior. His emotional development is waaay behind his IQ, so the sulking child in him often demands his rights.
(3) his more than questionable methods. By his own admission, he has stepped outside of the law, being The Law, being Justice itself. He is not above torturing people, physically and emotionally, with complete disregard for human rights (especially see Misa). I am not talking about how he used Lind L. Tailor to die in his place, since his death was already scheduled. I am somewhat talking about how in the Yotsuba arc he was willing to let people die so he could gather more data.
(4) He acts cruel and insensitive bordering on offensive towards people who help him. I'm mainly thinking of poor Matsuda... (although, now that I think of L's roundabout way of conveying things, may well be that he actually likes Matsuda and he pesters and belittles him like you do with younger siblings hehe)
He is not cold blooded though, not by far, he did take ample precaution measures to ensure the safety, welfare and financial security of the task force members....and the way he basically bled emotionally for Ukita....
So. He is a very complex, flawed, imperfect man, but....should people be perfect in order to have our love?..... not from where i stand.

hi! sorry to bother but i kind of wanted to see if there were more people like me, i guess. i was recently diagnosed was twice exceptional (i think that's how it's called in english), which means i have adhd and high abilities at the same time. i guess i wanted to see if there were more people like this, with either or both neurodivergences like me. i have a lot of friends who are neurodivergent too, but it's nice to see a blog dedicated for this. idk, i guess i just wanted to say "hi, i'm 25 and i only discovered i'm neurodivergent a month ago because my symptoms were mostly hidden by other symptoms os masked by me, and i thought everyone did that, but now i'm discovering that i'm actually different, and not a failure of a person"
anyway, sorry for the long ask, i tend to ramble a lot, your blog is really interesting!
heya! so i’ve never heard the phrase “twice exceptional” but i’m assuming you’re talking about having ADHD and having what people think of as “high intelligence” at the same time.
ramble ahead —
anecdotally, there are a lot of people with adhd who were called “gifted” (we just ran a poll on this), which you may relate to. so you’re not alone.
but what really is “gifted”? what is “intelligent”?
societal biases always impact who the world considers “gifted”. for example, children of color with ADHD are labeled “troublemakers” and “problem children” way more often than white kids with ADHD.
tying into this, studies i’ve found on ADHD and intelligence tend to use the IQ test as a measure of intelligence — a test with a history of eugenics and racism.
neurotypicals like to hone in on the “gifted” narrative as a form of inspiration porn. it doesn’t help us, and unfortunately, many have been hurt by it. i find it very odd, but not necessarily surprising, that your perceived level of ability was included in your diagnosis.
i think focusing on the “intelligence” part (or thinking of it as it’s own condition — i wasn’t sure if you were calling it a neurodivergence or not? to clarify, it’s not) isn’t at all useful to yourself or anyone else. from personal experience, it only leads to pain when you fall short of the expectations others, and yourself, have set for you.
intelligence is a nebulous concept at best, and thinking of it as something tied to your ADHD will definitely not serve you in the long run.
that being said, it is absolutely okay to be proud of the way you think. just be wary of placing a quantifier on Your Thinks.
congrats on your diagnosis, and i hope things go well for you.❤️

On bimbo harems:
Doesn't even need the bimbofication to reach that point, you get the same scenario in normal porn.
For bimbofication scenarios to be good they have to focus on the fact that the characters were changed by bimbofication, and the contrast between their old personality and their new exaggerated body, extreme sex drive, sluttier personality, possible IQ changes.
If you can cut out the pre-TF part of a bimbofication story and you can't tell from the remaining parts that it's bimbofication, it's useless.
/d/, 2021.
On IQ:
IQ tests are usually based on linguistic, spatial and mathematical intelligence, as well as logic puzzles. It's pretty common that people who're bad at these things have good intuition, social intelligence, musical intelligence, visual intelligence or what have you.
Whether or not you have cognitive impairments is decided not by an IQ test score, but by whether you are functional or not.
Someone with an IQ test result of 69 could be hopelessly inarticulate, their head might swim at simple multiplication or they might not be able to grok rotating 3D objects, but this does not mean they're not fun to be around, kind, well-socialized, with talent for art and with common sense.
Conversely, you could have someone with an IQ of 118 who's rotten at interpersonal cues, who has an aggressive and suspicious personality, who has no eye for beauty and who doesn't care for or about other people.
It's number 2 who'll be living in a dump and coming off as an actual retard and not number 1.
Intelligence is really wide, but seeing as it's mainly low linguistic and mathematical intelligence that gets people off here, you see a lot of low IQ scores [in bimbo transformation sequences].
/d/, 2019.
On IQ-2:
What I'm trying to say is that you can have someone who's "bimbo stupid" without actually having a retard who can't wipe their own ass, because low IQ doesn't necessarily suggest low functionality.
There's measurable intelligence and there's practical intelligence, and I think the perfect combination is someone who's dumb as a bag of sand but still has enough positive qualities and competences to be a functional adult if only by the skin of their teeth.
/d/, 2019.
On IQ-3:
IQ measuring is hard to do in a scientifically responsible way due to fundamental differences in conception of intelligence and the immense variation in practical intelligence not just down to the individual but also the situation.
Add to that the instinctive human desire of "Grug have bigger brain than you", and you have a volatile cocktail where no one even agrees what it is they're actually supposed to be studying.
/d/, 2019.
On intelligence loss:
I really like emphasizing the loss of intelligence as that has been the one consistent aspect of the fetish in writings about it going back over twenty years now. Though I personally like portraying it in a more cute fashion, I'm usually taken out of the writing when they start talking like cavemen instead of valley girls. I've written both "cartoonishly dumb" and "realistically dumb" bimbos and I love both. When writing the latter I usually end up making their personalities a little meaner, not always cruel but definitely less considerate, and make sure to emphasize a growing interest in vapid things. Though it's not uncommon for both versions to come out saccharine sweet trophy wives. The cartoonish camp is often written with an awareness of their stupidity while the realistic camp is not.
/d/, 2021.
On the portrayal of stupidity:
I do like the dumb bimbo stereotype, but more like "you got the answer wrong but you did all the math right" dumb. Like capital of Texas is T dumb. Stupid, but understandable.
/d/, 2021.
On writing bimbospeak:
Avoid words with more then two syllables, use slang whenever possible, always use sexual innuendos and slang where possible, you seem to have the California valley twang accent in mind already which is good.
/d/, 2021.
On bimbo appearance:
Fake/Big tits are not required for a bimbo you goddamned coomer. It’s part of the core aesthetic but it’s not REQUIRED. Just like a tomboy doesn’t need to be muscular or have short hair, it’s about the soul of the thing… the essence of bimbosity.
/tv/, 2022.
On the appeal of fake tits:
It's a perverse act, they're obviously fake and cartoonish turning them into living sex dolls. It's all about self destructive decadence. I dunno how else to explain it.
/tv/, 2020.
On interacting with/picking up bimbos:
Contrary to popular belief, it's actually not that hard, nor it requires some special amounts of money or high status. Sure, these things help, but that applies for all women. Bimbos are still somewhat of a no-no in society eye's and are usually happy for an actual honest interest beyond their looks. I would even go that far and say that bimbos are easier to get for relationship if you know what you are doing. Also from experience, these girls are usually more direct, honest but also with way more drama.
I used to fuck a lot of bimbo hookers in Singapore. They love chit chatting. You treat them human and their eyes light back up.
/tv/, 2020.

my best steelman for a case in which iq tests are useful is i had to take one when being evaluated for adhd, and they're divided into five or six scores, and i had one score which was WAAAAY lower than the others, which is unusual because iirc for most people all the scores are similar, and so my score was suggestive of disorder. so like. maybe that's a use case? but i'm skeptical even of that because i'm sure it could be done another way
Yeah I mean I guess at that point we’re just talking about mental health diagnostic tools more broadly right? And the standardised nature of IQ is not where its specific sins lie (and the problems with standardised testing are not local to IQ). IQ measurements may be helpful in the current mental health medical system because the way we conceptualise mental illness is extremely amenable to the idea of IQ.
But it’s one of those things where the premise of IQ itself is what is rotten and needs to be done away with - the idea that you can quantify and standardise intelligence, that the thing we call “intelligence” (broad, vague, contradictory) is itself quantifiable. We’ve pulled a neat hat trick with it; you declare IQ a measurable phenomenon by inventing a diagnostic tool that measures IQ. It is something that proves itself. It reminds me of a very similar “problem” in my own field (geography) - states declare themselves real by providing maps of their borders (and building border walls and enacting violence, ofc, but that violence is partially legitimatised through mapping). The map itself is the diagnostic tool that “measures” the state, but we have not located the origin of the state, only provided a tool to measure what we agree is the state. So the deeper problem with IQ is that the proof of its existence is located within its own diagnostic tool.
I have no idea if I’m making any sense lol but like I think we should just object to IQ as a concept, both as a thing that is 1) real and 2) important to measure. The idea that it’s real is far more damaging than any potential benefit it could have to helping people navigate what is already a very violent and dehumanising psychiatric system, like you said

@melemeleguardian asked: "Is Artificial Intelligence really Artificial when it has a non-artificial basis?"
Tumblr media
"Oh? That's quite the question there, Mr. Gym Guy. Artificial in this context refers to being made or produced by human beings rather than occurring naturally, especially as a copy of something natural. An example being how all our objects like lambs or street lights mimic the light from the sun or fire. Our fans mimic the wind, yet will never be the same experience as a breeze we feel against our bodies. Since we defined the meaning of artificial in this dialogue, we can now analyze the basis where Artificial Intelligence defines itself." Oh great, he's been awakened to talk about something he's passionate about.
"Intelligence is a measure on what we use to define a being's consciousness and ability to understand itself and world around it. Thus while plants are living biological things, plant pokemon are seen as more intelligent, even if their are other beings smarter than them based on the metric used to measure intelligence. The arguments of the arbitrary and limitations on measuring IQ, aside, we can now focus on what makes intelligence authentic or organic over artificial." We don't even HAVE a whiteboard to follow along with his rambling!
"As intelligence itself is an abstract concept, we can not define it it's existence with the same methodologies and processes we use to observe and label concrete concepts, such as people or pokemon. However, as awareness and understanding are also both abstract concepts that have subjectivity inherently involved their process and function, thus objectivity here is undermined further." This monster chuckled after saying all that by the way.
Tumblr media
"Though the Philosophers can indulge you more on the concrete abstractions we use to define our existence. To summarize and answer your question, our own intelligence acts as a barrier to seeing Artificial Intelligence as the same as ourselves. We have difference origins of being and from how we experience the process of learning. While an AI can tell you fire is hot and how cultures see it as symbolic for things such as war, creation, destruction and rebirth, they'd only be able to repeat what was already said and created by us. Though now I am curious what a religion and culture created purely by AI would look like and function..."

I need everyone to understand that grades do not measure anything, they do not meaningfully signify anything
not intelligence, not mental health, not IQ, literally nothing
if a kid has high grades, that does not actually mean they're doing well outside of keeping their grades up, and if a kid has low grades that doesn't mean that their doing badly outside of trying to keep their grades up
I've learned over time that If I push the rules I won't get in trouble as long as my grades are up. In classes where I could coast with an A, it wouldn't matter if I came in late, slept in class, was disruptive, turned in some things late, the teacher just wouldn't really care. Actually, I think I have a few teachers who will grade me less harshly and allow me to turn in work a little later than others just because I've always had a high grade in their class.
In classes where I had a lower grade, I would get scolded and have my doodle sheets taken away because I clearly wasn't paying attention (the doodle sheets were helping me pay attention but ok), I would be more likely to get in trouble for being a bit late and the teachers would be more nit-picky with my work which would make it even harder to bring my grade up
For the past four years I've had mostly straight As and I swear I'll go months struggling and complaining about how sleep deprived I am and how much I need a break and be on the verge of a breakdown for months, but the only times that someone has ever asked me what was wrong or if something was wrong is when a grade drops, and most of the time my grade is not dropping at the same time that I'm struggling those two things are pretty unrelated actually because the grade goes in weeks after I finish the assignment at times and therefore weeks after the time that I was struggling. Then, if I have the energy to tell them rather than getting defensive about it, they always seem to forget once my grade goes up after the next assignment.
I can lay in my bed all night after a school night, not even coming down for dinner, and my parents will act like nothing happened the next day I just took a long nap (this is not the same thing that happens for my brothers with low grades they btw they would get yelled at and threatened to have their electronics taken away)
like, the entire treating students differently or assuming what their mental health is like based on their grades is stupid and harmful and just please stop

Master Your Emotions and Connect With Others: The Key to Emotional Intelligence
<h2>What is Emotional Intelligence?</h2> <p>Most people only have a vague idea of what emotional intelligence means. They associate it with things like being able to communicate well, making others feel comfortable, and having a good sense of humor. But there's more to it than that.</p> <h3>Girls and Guys Don't Always See Eye-to-Eye</h3> <p>Some girls see "high emotional intelligence" as the standard for how guys should act. But if a guy says something that puts her in a bad light, she may immediately label him as "low emotional intelligence." Really, she's just trying to switch things up so she comes out on top. </p> <p>I remember chatting with one girl who said I had low emotional intelligence. But when I asked her to explain what it meant, she couldn't give a clear answer. She seemed to be judging me based more on her feelings in the moment than any real definition.</p> <h3>What is Emotional Intelligence Really?</h3> <p>My brother once gave a talk where he said calling someone "high emotional intelligence" is misleading. Girls use it mostly to put guys down, and many don't fully grasp what it entails. However, for insecure guys who hear this, it can lead them to doubt themselves and their self-worth, bringing on negative emotions that affect their mindset and behavior.</p> <p>IQ measures how smart you are with facts and thinking. But EQ measures your <strong>emotional quotient</strong> - your ability to understand your own and others' feelings, express emotions appropriately, and handle relationships in a healthy way. Someone with high EQ stays in control of their emotions and gets along well with others, while low EQ means being withdrawn, insecure, moody or short-tempered.</p> <h3>Knowing Yourself is Key</h3> <p>Your own worst enemy is yourself, not other people. Only by truly understanding who you are can you stay grounded when things go right, without getting a big head. A few of my students found more dating success lately. But as wins piled up, they started to act cocky - and we all know pride comes before a fall. Soon they were putting themselves down in front of girls and hitting roadblocks. It shows not recognizing your real abilities and how that impacts your confidence.</p> <p>Facing setbacks is inevitable. How you handle them depends on accurately knowing your strengths, weaknesses, goals and values deep down. Staying true to yourself is what lets outside factors bounce off instead of knocking you down.</p> <h3>Take Control of Your Thoughts</h3> <p>Our actions start in the mind. Controlling your thoughts means being clear on your intentions and sticking to a plan, even when distractions like rejection try to throw you off course. Stay self-aware in conversations - notice if emotions start steering you away from your goals. Get thoughts back on track before behavior unravels. This improves emotional control and social skills.</p> <h3>Use Humor to Connect</h3> <p>Everyone appreciates a sense of humor. It creates relaxing vibes that draw people in. Even rejection feels less harsh when softened by a laugh. So find the funny side of life and share it! A good chuckle is a gift that keeps relationships light and fun.</p> <p>How's this revision? I aimed for clearer explanations, smoother transitions, more engaging wording and a structured HTML format for easy reading. Please let me know if any part needs further improvement.

I don't mean to be rude or judgemental but I wanted to ask... why do you label yourself sapiosexual?
I like people who are knowledgable about stuff I find interesting and like to learn about new topics & discuss them with me in depth myself. I only ask because intellect is subjective and multifaceted.
If you look into it the IQ test isn't an objective measure of "intelligence" & the way it's measured is designed to best serve well off, (mainly) nuerotypical people with western educations, whilst not accounting for areas of knowledge that someone with an alternative upbringing, language, nuerotype, learning style, etc. may have.
This isn't meant to criticize you personally.. i just wanted to say that if you define yourself as sapiosexual then measure "intelligence" by a narrow margin, you could be missing out on connecting with people who are very interesting & loving and could teach you about ways of thinking that broaden your perspectives.
I apologize for the long message. I just think about it whenever I hear someone calling themself sapiosexual. If you're interested in the flaws with IQ measurements "Shaun" on YouTube has a good video essay on the subject.
Hope you have a wonderful week.
Oh no worries about it being a long message! Thank you for asking this by the way. Myself personally, I don’t measure someone’s intelligence by their IQ. I’m also very much in agreement with you that by going off of IQ solely you could be missing out on plenty of folks that you might vibe with or connect with in a way that you may have not anticipated.
I try not to “weed people out” for lack of a better term but I have noticed that in order for *me* to have an attraction or attachment to someone they need to think a little deeper about things, that’s all. I feel a lot of people are very… distracted by daily life and don’t think about things bigger than themselves I suppose? Which there’s nothing wrong with that. Many are in survival mode. I’ve been there myself haha but yeah doesn’t seem to hold my interest long term. I’d like to think I’m pretty open minded when it comes to picking a partner? Who knows, maybe I’m not lol but…
I guess short answer, I label myself as sapiosexual because I need to be mentally stimulated in order to form attraction/attachment and I am also attracted to people who are generally “intelligent” or think a little more deeply than others.
Also thank you for the recommendation on further information! I’ll definitely check that out right now. Sounds interesting. Hope you have a wonderful week too anon!

You know, IQ is a concept I find faulty for a number of reasons
For one thing, it's treated like a static trait, as if people can't learn or become stubborn and stupid
For another, I find administering a test on a narrow type of intelligence and saying their score is how smart they are faulty logic
As of taking a test doesn't skew results, and as if there's only on kind of intelligence
Then there's the effects, I think it's generally thought that people with low IQ aren't worth listening to, but even assuming the test was accurate and meaningful... I mean I've run into plenty of very smart idiots over the years
So yeah, don't like it, don't really trust it to be a useful measurement

The problem with the Media is “political personalities” – A realityTV personality that emphasizes politics, but delivers it as comedic banter. The problem with politics is politicians. Get rid of many of the politicians and political personalities and poof… Most of our problems vanish… Are any of these people honest, not a self-proclaimed expert at anything and qualified in any of these areas they dictate to us?
These people try to be entertainers over being critical thinkers and logic practitioners, and it is both sides. This isn’t me hating the Left or the Right, nope, it is both of them; a frickin’ shitshow…
Both sides embellish opinion displayed as fact. Facts are generated one way and one way only. Facts’ foundation is not one based on faith and/or belief. Faith and/or Belief is not a measurable attribute of the fact gathering process. Facts are generated one way, the scientific method. For something to be true or a fact it must be proven to exist in our reality as true, as fact. Speculation is not proof. Speculation is a guess based on belief. That isn’t even a theory.
Let’s ask Google what a theory is… “In everyday use, the word "theory" often means an untested hunch, or a guess without supporting evidence.” In this definition belief/faith can creep in, but that isn’t what a theory actually is. From Scientists; “A theory is a well-substantiated explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can incorporate laws, hypotheses and facts.”
To not insult anyone’s intelligence’s I am gonna assume you all know what the actual definitions are of laws, hypotheses and facts, related to science.
Short n’ Sweet. Get rid of career politicians that have a false sense of science based on their own beliefs and faith, because faith and belief are not a measurement of truth and/or knowledge. People that promote this is fine, but they shouldn’t be in a position of power where they dictate their opinions, faith, beliefs as truth, knowledge and facts.
If you try to walk on the clouds, you fall right through, every time. Not once or once in a while, but every time you do, you fall. If you walk on concrete your foot is planted on solid ground. This would be an example of a fact. 1+1=2 is another fact. One or many cannot disprove this in any format or explain it as rhetoric to be anything other than what the fact demonstrates.
Stop voting for people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has a seriously low-IQ and TikTok’r who just so happens to serve in congress. Not only is she a Sociopath but she is clearly bi-polar AF. You know who else is like that? Amber Heard and we all got to see how terrible a human being that female is. Yet, AOC puts a lot of bad information out there, all based on zero facts, and all speculation and opinion driven. People like this should not be in any position where they are in charge of the well-being of any other humans. If she owns pets, hey, someone should be doing a wellness check on those animals. Just sayin’. If you see her TikTok videos you can see her Sociopathy at work. Just look into those crazy, soulless eyes of hers. So much hate and contempt for all mankind…
Politics should not be driven based on personal preferences, opinions, beliefs and faith. Politics should not and cannot dictate, create, not explain their logic whenever they see fit or it fits their voting cycle. Career politicians that literally do nothing in office for decades and do not even show up most of the time shouldn’t be there.
If one seeks change and does nothing to make said change happen then nothing will happen and nothing will change. If someone goes on TikTok and tells the world they are right about this/that and we all have it wrong then I guess what is seen, what is shown and what is actually projected never are the same things or even closely associated together. Yet, that is what is expected of us. To simply comply, agree and obey… If we disagree, show why we disagree, and most importantly, prove nonsense to be nonsense we are labeled as conspiracy theorists and/or domestic terrorists. We get our phones confiscated and/or arrested. We lose our jobs, get banned on social media all because we do not give social/political retardation a pass…
Get rid of news media personalities. These are realityTV people, comedians and people that are entertainers, first; yet they are telling us more stuff about politics and spin it in such a way that we are to believe what they say is true and/or fact all because it is funny and entertaining. That doesn’t make a thing right and/or wrong. Same deal. We are not getting the information the way we should so we can absorb it and make an informed objective decision for ourselves. Both sides do this and are doing this, daily… Both sides have blurred the lines between opinion and fact that now both sides have their own term for it, “air quotes, FACTS…” "When does the hurting stop?" ~The Thunderlizards, Bill… Remember that show? That quoted catch phrase always stuck with me.
It has now gotten to a point that I can no longer even follow what either side is spewing as their “air quotes, FACTS” mentality these days… It dominates the air waves all while both sides wanna keep kicking down the thinkers that think, critically. The people that do things based on logic over how they feel in the morning and making decisions based on that feeling. Yet still assume things will change on their own with only their own input and opinions on the situation.
If I did that, I would never get my ass out of bed, even to take a piss. We all have our own information systems that we stand by. Some people hold faith as their main one and that is fine. Nothing wrong with holding a God, any god, up on your to do list for life. However, as strong as the power of faith and belief can be it should not be a tangible definitive source for facts, knowing and knowledge. If that is what a person wants to believe, cool. Just do not tell me you have facts because you do not. Faith is not a measurement of how facts become facts. Facts are true because we can prove them to be real. Things that deal directly on belief and faith do not. That is what speculation actually is.
This changing of the definitions of words is getting very dangerous to our young people. “Most decisions are not binary, and there are usually better answers waiting to be found if you do the analysis and involve the right people.” ~Jamie Dimon
The division of this Left/Right approach to politics, binary thinking, goes against everything this country was built on and stands for. Most people are either Democrat or Republican and in most cases none of that matters. You get up for work and stop at Tim Hortons or Starbucks and get your morning java. Does it matter what label either company stands for? Does it even matter what political affiliation the person who takes your order and serves your coffee to you with a smile? Most Democrats/Republicans work together each and every day. No one really cares what others believe in unless you are in a major city or DC where everything is based on one’s political affiliation.
Like I said above; the problem with politics are the politicians. Get rid of them and poof, most of our internal political problems vanish… These are the people, the people of this country need to hold accountable. Not one of them and not even all of them but most of them.
“The human brain works as a binary computer and can only analyze the exact information-based zeros and ones (or black and white). Our heart is more like a chemical computer that uses fuzzy logic to analyze information that can't be easily defined in zeros and ones.” ~Naveen Jain
This is because most of reality isn’t on or off, it is in a state of both, almost constantly. If one is a zero or a one most of the everyday reality is in this state of quantum superposition of being both the zero and the one simultaneously. It isn’t black and white, but a fuzzy grey. Yet, the politics of it wants us all to be either one or the other. Some things can be handled with binary thinking, but not all and not even most. Like I also said, most people in this country work together and deal with each other’s differences, daily. This crap we see on both FOX and CNN is just really shotty fictional entertainment displayed as truth and truth is not an opinion or speculation or even a theory, it is FACT…
“But you see, our society is still trapped in this binary, black/white logic and that has had some very positive implications for our generation. It's had some very negative ones as well and one of the negative ones is that it creates enormous identity problems for people.” ~Henry Louis Gates

Cognitive Intelligence
How much does cognitive intelligence matter? Is it really important? Cognitive intelligence is a term coined by psychologists to describe the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, and learn from experience. Cognitive intelligence helps us to recognize patterns, predict future events, and analyze data. Learn more: https://blog.hirenest.com/cognitive-intelligence-guide/
Tumblr media
In other words, it allows us to adapt to new situations and develop skills. Cognitive intelligence is essential for success in life. It enables us to achieve our goals and overcome challenges. Without it, we would never get anywhere.
The most common way to measure cognitive intelligence is through IQ tests. These tests assess general intellectual abilities, including verbal reasoning (the ability to understand language), numerical reasoning (the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide numbers), spatial reasoning (the ability to visualize objects and relationships between them), memory (the ability to remember things), attention span (the ability to focus on one thing at a time) and problem solving (the ability to think logically).
There are many different types of IQ tests. Some test only certain aspects of cognition, whereas others test all areas together. A few examples include the Stanford–Binet Intelligence Scale, which measures both verbal and nonverbal intelligence; the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children, which focuses on specific areas like visual perception, auditory processing, and motor coordination; and the Differential Ability Scales, which measures general cognitive abilities. You can find out more in our article: https://blog.hirenest.com/cognitive-intelligence-guide/

Different types of intelligences
The first type of intelligence is called “cognitive ability.” This refers to our ability to think logically and solve problems using logic and reasoning. It includes things like math skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary knowledge, and problem solving. Cognitive abilities are important because they help us understand what we read, remember information, and complete tasks. They also allow us to interact with others by understanding them and helping them communicate. A second type of intelligence is called "fluid intelligence." Fluid intelligence refers to our ability to adapt to new situations and learn from experience. For example, if I ask you to memorize a list of words, this is a test of cognitive ability. If I then ask you to recall those same words later, this is a test for fluid intelligence. In contrast, if I give you a word puzzle and tell you to figure out which letters match together, this is a test to see whether you can apply your memory to something different than what it was trained on.
Emotional intelligence examples
The first step toward emotional intelligence is self awareness. Self awareness means being aware of what you feel, think, believe, and do. It includes knowing yourself well enough to know if something is true for you. For example, if you find it difficult to trust people, then this may be a sign that you lack self awareness.
In order to develop emotional intelligence skills, you must understand emotions and feelings. This involves recognizing different types of emotions, understanding why we experience them, and having strategies to manage our emotions.
Emotions are often thought of as a negative thing, but they actually help us function better at work and home. They motivate us to act, and they give us energy. But too many emotions can be overwhelming, so it's important to learn ways to control them.
Tumblr media
What's the difference between cognitive vs. emotional intelligence?
Cognitive intelligence (CI) refers to our ability to process information quickly and efficiently. Emotional intelligence (EI), on the other hand, involves being able to understand and manage one's emotions. It has been shown that people who score higher on measures of EI tend to perform better at work than those who don't.
The most common way to measure EI is through self-assessment questionnaires like EQi, which was developed by Daniel Goleman. There are also many online tests available, including the Mayer–Salovey–Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT).
In terms of practical applications, it may help us to think of CI as "the ability to take action" and EI as "being aware of what we're doing." For example, if I'm having trouble focusing because I'm distracted by negative thoughts, then I might benefit from practicing mindfulness techniques to become more aware of my feelings. On the other hand, if I'm feeling anxious because I've just received bad news, then I'll probably need to practice some strategies to cope with my emotions.
A study published in 2012 found that people who scored high on measures of EI were less likely to develop depression after experiencing stressful life events. Another study showed that EI predicted job performance better than IQ did.
Conclusion
A cognitive intelligence system (CIS) is a computer program designed to mimic human thought processes. CIS programs are used by businesses to help them make decisions about what products to sell, where to place advertisements, and even whom to hire. These systems are also used by governments to predict crime trends and terrorist activity.
The first CIS was developed at MIT in the 1960s. Since then, many different types of CIS software have been created, including those from IBM, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, and others.
Some people think that CIS software is too complex to understand, but this couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, most CIS software is intuitive and easy to use. For example, if you're trying to decide whether to order a new product online, you may start by looking at reviews written by previous customers. If they all give positive feedback, you'll probably feel comfortable placing your order. On the flip side, if the majority of customer reviews are negative, it's best to avoid making a purchase.
There are two main types of CIS software: rule based and neural network based. Rule based systems rely on rules that tell the computer what to do next. Neural networks work differently. They don't follow any set of instructions; instead, they try to figure out what to do on their own. This makes them better at recognizing patterns than following rules. Something I need to keep in mind while writing Viktor
Tumblr media
I hope the way I worded my thoughts is okay.
Might add stuff later on
Basically this post in general.
Post
Post concerning Viktor's personality and how we headconed him as a workaholic
Post (Please read this one)
Etiquette: Interacting with people with disabilities
Video about disability and villains
"Viktor's isolation and lack of friends as a child was not due to him being 'too smart' or 'too focused on inventing', it was due to him being disabled." "Viktor truly wants to have friends, but as a child he was given serious barriers to entry. And as an adult, his introverted habits persist due in no small part to the fact that he was looked over so much when he was little, coupled with that he does not want to burden people with his chronic health issues."
I don't want infantilize him or Sherlock-ofy him.
If writing smut keep in mind this man won't be able to do parkour with you!
While I agree that Viktor is definitely a confident man, I think it's more because of his intellect and skill rather than his body. (This is one of the biggest reasons why I relate to him so fucking much). I don't think he's necessarily insecure about/only about his disability just in general physique.
At the same time though I don't think every one-shot or smut I would write about him, should have a narrative about him being insecure about this. Like any person Viktor can be both confident and insecure depending on the day.
If you have any other ideas or tips on how to not misrepresent Viktor's character, it would be very helpful. As someone who is a able-bodied themselves, I would be very thankful to hear from disabled people and how they believe would be best to represent a disabled person in fiction: the things they find acceptable in fanfction works and things to avoid (something we able-bodied writers don't always consider).
Adding on a message from @higheverweave "Hey If you need some help from Disabillity culture perspective I can do what I can :) I mostly come from An ASD perspective But I was raised in Disabled spaces via social groups so Just lmk what you’re looking for. If I can’t answer a question directly there’s a ton of awesome folks with lived experience who talk about this stuff a lot. Main tips: • Mobility aids are counted as an extension of a persons body…. Touching a wheelchair or crutch or any medical aide without permission is like an extreme no-no. • Mostly our entire culture isn’t so much about everyone taking care of us but figuring out how to get access so we can take care of ourselves. Ex.) I have a mentor I greatly respect she’s very honest. She has Cerebral Palsy though so moving her body can be challenging. As she can’t predict what her hands will do when she is making something she has a device that she wears on her head that tracks her eye movements and she makes art uses the internet etc. using this device all still her work her thoughts her effort …. It’s just made accessible for her to enact/share. • Energy regulation is a huge thing. People with more Physical Needs and folks with Asd have a thing called spoons. It’s an odd little metaphor for burn out. But Viktor faces this on two fronts: 1) physical energy < this is going to be different for him and time in the story matters for this as well. If you watch closely you can see him lean on things…. He’s a little tired but not so tired he’s burnt out or depleted all his energy. 2) This dude I don’t know if he is 2E 2E is short for twice exceptional meaning having multiple learning accommodation needs (English second language and needing Accommodations for disability. Or on Viktor's case he is considered “gifted.” Or a “genius.” But that heavily relies on IQ which is bs because intelligence doesn’t have math it can’t be measured. IQ tests are very much a eugenics thing, so even those of us who count as gifted or geniuses know it’s a kind of BS label. There’s this price people pay in regards to twice exceptionality. The folks who are considered geniuses or smarter or whatever…. People don’t realize there’s an extreme downside to it….. if you have an idillic memory if you remember EVERYTHING you remember every insult everyone has said to you…. You remember every betrayal every fear every death every heartache intensely and it can be hard to let go. Luckily this also makes us want to try to understand others. Although most don’t understand us… The one group of people who knows how to calm us down …. Our peers with More support needs or IDD. They can see things without overthinking it and really center us back to ourselves. We need each other. A lot of that social isolation too Is also fear…. Disabled folks it used to be illegal for some of us to go out in public until 1974 re laws called Ugly laws we still get kicked out of public places sometimes if we don’t fit in or “make people uncomfortable.” So when we are trusting someone we are trusting them with the power they have over us. Automatically by default: I understand because I am autistic if somebody wanted to say i did something. I didn’t do and I denied it (They could use the idea of sanity against me to sway the argument in their favor.) To understand disability you have to understand Eugenics as a part of everyday culture. Meaning there are some people other people believe just take up space by existing… that to some leaders is a waste of money food and resources. So Their solution is how they perceive survival of the fittest. Covid is a good example when people wanted to end lockdown early there were people on the streets with signs saying sacrifice the weak. When asked about they said yeah sure it’s sad some people will die but they would die anyway so why should I sacrifice my freedom for it. People actually said this. So some of the isolation is a fear for safety as well. Hope this helps!🤍"

19. intelligence
Tumblr media
I think it is well-understood by now that IQ tests don’t really measure intelligence. Or, rather, having a high IQ does not necessarily indicate that you are really all that smart. You could still be plenty dumb. And scoring low on an IQ test does not mean that you lack brainpower. Sure, some folks may roll their eyes when they hear the term “emotional intelligence,” probably thinking that it’s just some politically correct euphemism for “stupid, but occasionally quite nice and friendly to strangers.” But, actually, how do we regard empathy? Isn’t being highly empathetic a certain sign of intelligence? Being able to empathise with another individual, being able to interface with them, conceptualising in your head a facsimile of what is going on in their head, all that sounds like it would require quite the number of functioning brain cells. And surely we could well call the textbook psychopath, who’s wholly trapped inside their own selves, incapable of ever truly putting themselves in somebody else’s shoes, a bit ignorant? A bit of a blockhead? A dumb-dumb ignoramus who’ll never truly understand what it means to be a human living and sharing this planet with others who are as insecure and anxious and bonkers as they are? Isn’t it rather obvious that, yes indeed, at least part of what makes a smart person smart is some functioning degree of emotional intelligence. And that is not something that an IQ test will measure.
But IQ tests must have some merit, right? It can't all be bullshit, it's not purely pseudoscience, it's way too accepted by the mainstream to be all that bad. Of course, lobotomies were also once considered to be sound science, and Freud used to be hugely respected within the field of psychology. Those days are gone. Seeing a modern Freudian for therapy is a bit like breaking a leg and going to an expert in the four humours. But those comparisons are unfair. The IQ test may have been used historically in some real shitty ways, and we all know how annoying people who brag about their high IQs are, but reason dictate that being able to solve complex puzzles that requires the ability to sense patterns, follow chains of logic, and being able to visualise solutions to problems, must make you kinda smart. At least you are a kind of smart. There may be countless ways to be smart, but you've sure hit one.
Earlier today I saw a Reddit thread mocking a… Well, obviously they were mocking a woman. Most Reddit users would probably never admit to truly being misogynistic pricks, but it is curious how often videos or articles discussing women who fucked up gets upvoted to the near-empyrean skies. There are always excuses to be had for men who act like total shits, but if it is a woman, then that must say something deep and troubling about all of womankind. In any case, in this thread they were mocking a woman who in a video greatly overestimated her intelligence, believing herself to be the second-smartest person in the room, only to later be shown to have the lowest IQ score. Satisfying, right? To see some arrogant narcissist get forced to eat humble pie. But the peculiar thing about the video is that this woman did not get shown to have some real abysmally poor IQ score. She scored 112. That is above average. Sure, it’s not high above average, it still counts within the spectrum of what we’d call “normal.” But she was not some dumb woman. Just a bit of an irritating one. So, of course, Reddit had it in for her.
I’m guessing that the video creators must have been very happy with the result. It would have been awkward if the braggadocious jerk came out on top. In fact, having her score last almost feels planned out, like as if they rigged the video just to make that outcome happen. I’m not of the conspiracy theorist mindset, but we’re talking about people making clickbait-y videos for YouTube. It’s probably best to take any videos like that with a truckload of salt. Still, it does seem to confirm one suspicion I’ve had for the longest time. I think that if you ask people to report on their own intelligence, most people of average to above-average intelligence, will claim to be somewhere in the lower end of high intelligence. The internet is now largely familiar with the Dunning-Kruger effect, though, ironically many people do slightly misunderstand it. But effectively, what it shows is that in order to judge your own competency in a particular field, you need some level of expertise in that field to do so accurately. Total novices will overestimate their level of skill, whereas total masters may lean towards underestimating their level of skill. Typically the measured phenomena is not as extreme as some popular internet graphs make it out to be, where you get this huge valley in the middle showing people’s sense of self completely collapse as they are getting a sense of their true value. The Dunning-Kruger effect is likely real, but like most such similar things, it’s more subtle than obvious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(You may have seen graph 1 get shared online, and it’s bad. If you want to share a graph with the world, share graph 2.)
I have never done an IQ test. Not a proper one. No, like most people, all I’ve ever done is tests promising to give me an estimate of what my IQ may be. Y’know, the ones offered by various groups associated with Mensa that you may find online. Yeah, don’t take those tests too seriously, if you really want to know your IQ score, you need to do a supervised test. Still, most of the time, these sites will acknowledge that what they’re offering is an estimate, and quite often, that estimate will get it roughly correct. Give or take a few points. And recently I felt like doing one of those tests, last time I did one was several years ago, and… Well, yes, I scored high. 133 to be precise. That’s considered to be gifted. I could join Mensa if I wanted to. Not that I do want to. Mensa is for nerds. I am a cool kid. I smoked pot once.
Now, am I intelligent? How humble should I be? Should I say “well, I guess so?” Should I shrug and say that I don’t really care either way whether I am smart or dumb? But when does being humble turn into false modesty? I am pretty well-convinced that I am intelligent, and so are most people who come into contact with me. Sure, I won’t claim to be a hugely brilliant genius, that’d be stretching it, but surely I should be able to state, as a fact, that I am of high intelligence. If you ask a strongman whether or not he considers himself of high physical strength, he won’t feel embarrassed to admit that yes, he’s quite ripped. I desperately do not wish to come across as an asshole, and I don’t want people thinking I’m like that woman in that video, but it’s a strange balancing act, maintaining your ego without going too far in either direction. I don’t want to seem conceited, but I also don’t want to pretend to be dumber than I am, just to come across as a more unpretentious, unassuming, dude. Does the strongman try to pretend that his muscles are actually all fat, and that anyone could easily lift those big boulders if they just use the right posture? You know how annoying it is when good singers claim that everyone can learn to sing as good as them? Yeah... Let's not do that.
“I know that I know nothing.” That’s Socrates. Or, well, it’s Plato’s account of Socrates. We don’t really know how much of Socrates may actually have been just Plato using Socrates as some elaborate ventriloquist’s puppet. Still, the sentiment is pretty clear. The more you know, the wiser you get, the more aware you are of all the things you don’t know. We’re back to the Dunning-Kruger effect. To be smart is to know you are not really smart. The more you stare into the void, the deeper the void will seem. Complex systems only get more complex the more you study them. There’s no limit to comprehension of the universe. You could always be smarter. You could always learn more. Perhaps you require a certain level of intelligence to truly grasp this fact, to truly estimate your role within existence, your position relative to eternity. It’s bound to get you feeling quite humbled. To the cosmos, we’re all a bit like that woman in that YouTube video. We may all think of ourselves as being quite clever, but then the universe logs on to Reddit to talk shit about how contemptuous we really are, and how satisfying it is to see us get made to eat that bland humble pie. It somehow manages to taste rancid and like nothing at the very same time.
