Currently emotionally unavailable due to Wakanda Forever 🖤
~
I don’t know how I’m gonna make it through the movie, it looks incredible but I was sobbing as soon as the trailer started 😭
I just have no words at the moment, I’m so excited for it but it feels strange knowing that Chadwick won’t be there especially with the influence he’s had on people and everything he’s done 🥺
I just really miss him you know 🖤

at the cinemas with enhypen
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heeseung - Wakanda Forever
He’s been watching all the Marvel movies with his friends before he started dating you.
Since then, you’re always his first choice to take to watch any new release.
You ask him about “the second Black Panther movie” and he corrected you by saying “it’s called Wakanda Forever” /eyeroll
“Okay, King,” you replied.
Doesn’t even let you get snacks or drinks because he wants you to focus.
Questions your loyalty when you start falling for the fishman.
Gets choked up during the scenes when it’s silent and a tribute to Chadwick Boseman.
You hold his hand in an effort to comfort him and he squeezes your hand.
Not even five minutes after the movie, he’s already asking you to watch it again next week.
Embarrassingly says goodbye to you by doing the Wakanda forever gesture.
Tumblr media
Jay – The Menu
You’ve mentioned repeatedly how you wanted to watch The Menu because you saw the trailer.
Hesitates at first, but then agrees once he sees that Anya Taylor-Joy starts in it.
The beginning of the movie got you both questioning your comprehension skills.
“Oh, are those her parents?” “Are they actually dating?” “What’s with those three dudes?” are some of the questions he would carefully mumble to you.
Gets immersed whenever the scene shows the details of each dish since he loves cooking so much.
Flinches whenever the chef claps his hands for attention. (You flinched too.)
“What genre is this movie actually?” He asks when you begin closing both your ears and slowly facing away from the screen, afraid of a jump scare.
You were both in awe and left speechless once the movie ends.
You go to a café after to sit and have a drink and discuss all the symbolisms and plot of the movie.
“I don’t remember what they ate, Jay.” / “You have to remember, Y/N! I even remembered that the fish was halibut and NOT cod!”
Tumblr media
Sunghoon – Glass Onion
You made Sunghoon watch Knives Out on Netflix before actually going to the cinemas to watch the sequel.
Initially seemed disinterested but became amused once he heard Daniel Craig’s accent.
Attempts to imitate the accent as soon as he meets up with you at the cinema.
“My God, Y/N, this dress on you---” / “Stop it.”
Before the movie even starts, he makes a bet with you and whoever guesses the murderer right gets treated to dinner.
Changes his answer three times throughout the movie.
Gasps at the exact same time as you do once you both realize something.
Synchronized gasps again when the movie reveals a plot twist.
Both of you end up guessing the wrong culprit.
You then have fun discussing the movie while having dinner, splitting the bill at the end.
Tumblr media
Jake – The Greatest Showman
You knew you wanted to go on a date at the cinemas, but neither of you knew what you wanted to see yet.
Once he sees the poster, he becomes excited and asks you to just watch this movie “because Hugh Jackman is in it and he's an Aussie like me.”
He holds the popcorn the whole time, almost hogging it and not letting you eat.
Bops his head whenever any of the characters break into a song.
“Zendaya is so pretty.” / “Yeah, you wish you were Zac.”
Holds a hand over his chest during This is Me because of how touching it was.
When Jenny Lind appears, he says he doesn’t trust her because she wears red lipstick and all villains wear red lipstick.
Catches you tearing up during Never Enough, so he coos at you and intertwines his fingers with yours.
Both of you remain immersed throughout the rest of the movie.
You walk out of the cinemas with a huge grin on your face, excited to look up the soundtrack so you can listen to them together.
Tumblr media
Sunoo – Avatar: The Way of Water
He has been actually, genuinely waiting for this moment.
“Y/N, you don’t know how excited I am for this sequel!” / “You were 6 when the first movie came out.”
Initially wants to watch it in 4D, but he knows how much you hate the glasses, so he gives in and says he can rewatch it later.
Because you both took too long having lunch, you missed the first few minutes of the movie.
“Wait, Kiri is adopted?” / “I know as much as you do, Sunoo.”
Lets you put the popcorn on his lap and cutely uses the lid to get some for himself.
Forgets to chew whenever the scene shows something breathtaking.
Sympathizes with the alienated whale, holds his breath whenever there is an underwater scene.
His lips tremble when it shows someone dying towards the end.
“Promise to watch the next sequels with me again, Y/N!”
Tumblr media
Jungwon - Zootopia
Watching animated movies with him is like a routine for the two of you.
When Zootopia came out, you both texted each other at the same time.
Immediately chooses the fox’s side while you sympathize with the bunny.
“Wait, you kinda look like Judy Hopps, Won.” / “Ha-ha-ha.”
Keeps his laughter to small giggles and chuckles while you cackle.
Loses it when it came to the DMV sloth scene.
Mentions that the song sung by Gazelle sounds like Shakira. (it is Shakira)
Comments on how all the voices suit the animals really well.
Is not fazed at the huge plot twist in the movie.
Completely loses it again at the last scene with the sloth (again).
Tumblr media
Ni-ki – Jumanji: The Next Level
Has an odd admiration for Dwayne Johnson, will watch anything with him in it.
Claims he enjoyed the first movie, so he was happy when you asked him to watch the sequel.
Immediately asks you what happens in the first movie, mentioning how he has forgotten about it already.
Completely amused at how The Rock was possessed by an old man.
“I’d actually play Jumanji if I had the game.” / “Riki, no. What would I do without you?”
Cackles when Spencer shows up in Awkwafina’s body.
“Look, he can talk to animals, like you.” / “Riki, I swear to God…”
Says how the villain in this sequel looks familiar but can’t seem to know from where.
Almost yelled out Jumanjiiii! at the climax if you did not hold him back.
“OH, HE’S THE HOUND FROM GAME OF THRONES.” / “You watch Game of Thrones???”

just got emotionally fucking annihilated by wakanda forever
Tumblr media
but i also wanna talk about it! warning for spoilers and general rambling below 👇
ok, let’s start with parallels CAUSE THERE WERE SO MANY
first off, the comparison of shuri and killmonger 👀
it really does make sense, especially when you think ab how they both “go against” tradition, rejecting the standards. t’challa (rip ilysm) still wanted to please the elders, even if he had more progressive ideas (ie: sandals for his first day
also i’m so fucking glad they didn’t try to cgi chadwick in. it would’ve felt disrespectful and i think it was handled beautifully
Tumblr media
her sparing namor the same way t’challa spared those he fought (saving zemo, helping bucky, trying to help killmonger)
the dialogue callbacks bro. fuckin “show him who you are,” had me sobbing. “vengeance is consuming us” babes, shuri, i’m crying.
her being angered by loss and snapping at nakia like t’challa snapped at zuri when he realized killmonger’s identity
also i absolutely love riri. i was a bit apprehensive going in, but i think they executed her well without just making her a replacement for tony. that being said, he would absolutely adore her
Tumblr media
the parallel of her going too high and running out of oxygen and later turning it on namor in the same way mirrors tony’s suit frosting over and doing the same to stane 😭
the silent flashes of t’challa took my breath away. the silence really compounded just how empty and quiet their grief is.
seeing shuri try so hard in the opening and not even being able to say goodbye was so sad, and you can see her thoughts racing later on when she successfully synthesizes the heart-shaped herb. it’s a sort of “what if i’d thought of this earlier?” “who would still be alive?” “how could i have missed this?” sort of feeing
onto details!
the new black panther suit is stunning 🤩 the gold and silver details along with the dots that almost look like pearls, mirroring the ones she wears at the funerals? it shows that even if she is the leader of wakanda now, she’s still very young, still grieving her many losses
the tech and ai has really been amped up. shuri’s ai and her different interfaces looked amazing. also the ai (who i think is grio but i couldn’t tell) reminds me of jarvis. mainly in the orange blob department
the dora milaje looked stunning as ever, and seeing some new tech for them was exciting
THE VIBRANIUM THAT MELTED INTO THE CARS ALSKDKDKFKLDDK OBSESSED TONY WOULDVE LOVED THAT SHIT
talokan was gorgeous, even if it did violently trigger my thalassophobia
Tumblr media
ummm everett and valentina being married (well, divorced) was a plot point i was not expecting. hope to see him in the thunderbolts tho he’s very slay
fucking 👏 t’challa 👏 junior 👏
i broke down right then and there
took me right out
i won’t lie the people of talokan gave me avatar vibes but i did like the touch of them having siren-like voices.
also namora was pretty so that’s a win
ok i get that it’s a movie. but realistically, i’d they’re fighting this massive underwater force, why not just call any other super powered avenger????
like for movie’s sake yeah it’s all fine but like if i were in the mcu living that shit i’d be like “let’s just call thor. have him like electrocute the water. or doctor strange. he did that cool water thing in endgame that had literally no purpose except to give him screen time. or wanda, we all know she ain’t really dead bffr”
AYO IS GENERAL NOW??? I LOVE OKOYE BUT THATS A SLAY
ALSO SHES GAY??????
I SAW THAT KISS AT THE END 👀👀👀👀
man i love m’baku so much. he’s just. ugh
ok in better terms, i think i like him so much because he is first presented as a chad, almost. he’s strong, a bit dumb, and leads the isolated tribe.
but then you interact w him and find out he’s incredibly emotionally empathetic and kind, and reaches out to shuri as a helping hand, a person to lean on.
Tumblr media
i just really appreciate him okay 🥺😭
overall, stunning. 10/10, fifth time in a row that marvel’s made me cry at one of their movies.
aka black widow (bc yelena and the ending), shang-chi (bc gotdamn let me cry ab the chinese representation), no way home (cause duh), love and thunder (BC HE ADOPTED HER BITCH WHAT) and now this
stunning, showstopping, say what you will about marvel but damn they know how to make me cry

Angela Bassett presented with her Oscar at the 14th Annual Governor’s Ball
No video as of now yet but there are reports she was presented the award by Academy Award Winner and good friend, Regina King. She mentioned Chadwick Boseman in her speech and there is mention that she thanked “all those who fight for her”.
edit: these might have been on the video tribute where she was being interviewed.
I’m not gonna lie, this pissed me off. She deserved an award for an actual performance but…this is for her body of work. And I continue to learn from this amazing woman who is enjoying this moment and accepted this award with such enviable grace, joy and dignity. I am so glad she has this (already engraved) Oscar to put in her kitchen now. She deserves so much more and I hope she knows how universally loved she is. Congratulations, Miss Angela! You did the thing and you will always be doing the thing! Queen forever!

i truly abhor what s**s*n thr** did with zane, cleo, and basically all the new characters that are introduced, but the writers managed to absolutely mangle rikki's character, too. miss girl has always been the least responsible member of the group but she is beyond insufferable to bella about keeping the mermaid secret from will. it's like the writers gave emma's 'annoying about school and studying' character trait to cleo so they had to give rikki emma's penchant for responsibility and control. i know it is pointed out in canon but it's especially hypocritical given rikki kept zane a secret from the others, not once but twice
speaking of keeping secrets, rikki having influence over the water tentacle and deciding not to tell the others is absolutely mind-boggling. perhaps her character regression in this moment is due to her missing emma or struggling with the café and her rapidly disintegrating relationship with zane, but that is never spelled out for the audience so it just seems like lazy writing and two steps backward for her overall development
the character in season three who looks, sounds, and sometimes acts like zane is absolutely more guilty of wrongdoing in their relationship, but rikki is a pretty shitty partner to him in the third season, too. she misses shifts at the café to go hang out at mako after her brush with the water tentacle, reneging on her commitments entirely. on my most recent rewatch i noticed rikki doesn't really work at the café much, mostly spending time there with her friends, so it doesn't surprise me that the place went under in a matter of months even without her flitting around at the moon pool
anyway the rikki chadwick we know and love would have been concerned about keeping the secret from will, but not to the point that she practically becomes an emma stand-in. she would have told the girls about her water tentacle encounter immediately, or at the very least taken a beat, then come clean shortly after the full moon in question. she would either call it quits with zane the minute she knew their relationship, and the café, weren't working out, or would actually show up and take responsibility for her commitments as she purports to do throughout the season. her shortcomings aren't nearly as egregious as that of some of the other characters, but rikki deserved better writing in season three. jonathan shiff take notes!

• Wakanda forever, Líik'ik Talokan and Glory to Ukraine •
[ ukrainian girl's perspective of the latest mcu movie ]
Tumblr media
I watched [ Black Panter: Wakanda forever ] recently, and I can clearly tell - it's gonna be my favorite movie of the long long time. It's an amazing, really good action movie, one of the most epic I've seen. I loved it so much to see beautiful cultures, and all honor to Chadwick Boseman's memory made me very emotional every time. Like those silent moments whole audience was silent too, almost holding their breath.
Tumblr media
And the most important for me was character of Namor, his arc and whole point about colonization. This period of time, colonization of America and erasing cultures hurted me so deep as an autistic child with history as an interest, and now I can relate so much with all this stories as an adult woman of the nation fighting for independence [ and survival basically ].
In our National Day of Dignity and Freedom want to talk with you about it. Why it is so important for me personally, and maybe for many conscious people of our nation as well.
Not for trying to compare who suffered more through the history. It never was, and never will be my goal, this would be awful thing to do. But to share history of my people and explain why this movie and character affected me so much.
For short - though Namor despites human kind in general I hope he might be pleased to see our "let's burn colonizators to the ground" resistance after hundreds of years of oppression, when old 'mighty' Europe only saying they're conserned and "let's just calm down and talk everybody". Heaven knows we tried everything, we tried to talk so many times. Russians do not want to talk with us - they want to make us assimilated part of their country, or they want us dead. And we just want to be left alone and live our lives.
For a bit longer story - just look at this monstrosity of a country. Is this normal for country to be THAT enormously big?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can say: - Maybe. And I will say: - Only if all subjects having equal rights, impact and independence inside the union.
But things never in the history of russian expansion was like that,  and im going explain it, and hope you will get it why  I have used word "colonizators" earlier.
I really wanted to write a whole proper article or essay about this, but I'm without electricity for most of the time lately. "Thanks" to russian missiles damaging our power plants. And it become really hard for me to engage in deeper research, to translate and put in here sources that wasn't originally in english.
So instead it will be more little history lesson with knowledge from my head, and little documentaries from other intelligent people, which I recommend you to watch to illustrate my point. Videos was made by ukrainan creators, so yu can trust them, english subs that can be turned manually if you open them on YouTube, I'm still not sure how this works here.
I'll mostly use history of my country as an example since i know it better, I feel I have no right to talk about other nations at their behalf.
So Muskovy [ USSSR and modern Russia ] is like adopted offspring of the Golden Horde.
Tumblr media
Golden Horde expanfion, you can spot something similar already
It expands only to consume resources, erasing native people of that lands. Do you think small swampy peace of land it originally was had all that gas, oil and wood they're bragging about nowadays?
Do you think there wasn't native people in that land who was exterminated, exiled or assimilated so russians can use resources this nation had? They didn't even had a clear access to big water.
Muskovy was a small part of Kyevan Rus' on a distant swampy land, but it wanted more influence in the world, a clear access to the big water - Black Sea that we had, since they didn't have it and felt like they missing up whole worldwide trading and invasive wars party.
To do so they tried to get all the land for themselves. Kyevan Rus' then was successful and strong country of its time but had an internal issues [ muskovy as one of them ] and was struggling with every neighbor wanted to get a part of its territory.
Interesting story for another time, let's focuse on a russian part of it.
So Muskovy put their eyes on not only territories of modern Crimea, wich was their own country that days  - Crimean Khanat, but all modern Odesa-Mykolaiv-Kherson-Mariupol lands. But they can't get there easily, they need to concuer all the land, wich is not bad itself as it has a lot of coal, forest ant great agricultural potential.
But my people don't wanted to give it up so easily, wanting our territories back, wanting a safespace for our culture and history, so fighted with their lifes. This leads to more than 300 years of  [ - give me your land! - no. ] and after becoming an Empire strong enough to overpower us [ - give us our independence back! - no. ] cycles of merciless wars.
And than Russian Empire coming up with a time proved strategy. I don't know did they make it by themselves or sneaked a peak of it by older empire-sisters but they're using it til now,  evolving from Russian Empire to USSR to Russian federation like some wicked Pokémon.
And here's coming the interesting part with the videos I prepared for you,  grab some snacks and let's go.
The first one is about how russia tried to erase our language
youtube
This one about them them trying to erase our culture and replace it with a fucking joke.
youtube
And the last one is about creating an image of our people as angry, stupid and degraded, with THEM as superior nation above us, mostly in our heads.
youtube
They knew what they were doing and did that on purpose. They wanted make us ashamed of our culture, to separated us from who we are and mash into a faceless "brotherhood nations" with recourses to use.
Unfortunately - it worked, and worked very well as whole nation has an inferiority complex now, simpy denying ourselves. Feeling like its better to be associated with them, to blend in what they are calling culture, than discover our own one, that was appropriated, stolen or forgotten for generations, almost fighting for not to be lost forever.
So-called "big brother of ours" enslaved our people with serfdom, suppressin our attempts to embrace our heritage, to gain independence, causing artificial hunger Holodomor in 1932-33 also known as Terror-famine in Ukraine, or by repressions like Executed Renaissance. Our culture is still alive and kicking, but you can see there was not big room for blooming.
Those who they couldn't execute - they calling heritage of their own. For example Treasure Island animation, dr. Livesey from it internet loved so much not so long ago - it's actually ukrainian made.
They simply called russain everyone talented or famous from so-called union. They made sure it's almost impossible for you to pursue your ambitions as a scientist, artist or musician anywhere but Russia, so if you work in Russia you will be seen as and caled russian, no matter where you from.
No matter wich culture certain traditional attires [ vyshivanka or papakha ] dish [ borsh or chebureki ] or other heritage  like giorgian dance woman lezghinka russians calling their beryozka now, came from - it all claimed by them as their general [ stolen ] russian culture.
They did it not only to us. I told I wouldn't be speaking of other nations but just take a look what was done to Crimean tatars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you thought I made up my point about them wanting access to the sea VERY BAD
You may search on YouTube or TikTok how russians treating their neighbor "former soviet union" countries [ like Republic of Kazakhstan or Georgia ] when visiting them.
Like "you should be grateful we bring civilization to your land" and "your native name is to hard for me to pronounce, I'll just call you Masha, Natasha, Ivan etc." Ask people of other Caucasian regiongs about how they was and still treated till now, ask belorusians about their language [ spoiler - it is dying ].
Its so unfair, that now we are screaming at the top of our lungs to be heard, for people to see us the nations of our own, to just let us be and cherish our culture.
But our voices are suppressed by voices of our oppressors telling us to calm down and listen to them since they know the better way for us to live and solve problems THEY CAUSED. With no regrets or reflexia.
And world prefers to listen to them, praising them, insted of listen to people who was offended, if not to say violated, by them. Not only us, many other nations,.
After all i said this story may sound familiar to black people, indigenous people of America, people of other colonized countrie - because IT IS.
Or you may say to me:
- I'ts just white's business, mind it on your own.
Ok, though its not very correct statement, but I'll take it for now. Let me show you this video, then - Russia is literally colonizing African countries right now for their woods. They won't stop. They simply don't want to, still thinking imperial way.
youtube
             •••• ••••   •••• ••••   •••• ••••
Thank you for reading all of this to the end.
My point here was not to make this movie and other people's trauma about my people, to take it away from you. This is YOUR history and YOUR experience.
I'm writing this not to impose ourself in your place, not to say that we can completely 100% clearly understand what are you feeling. I just wanted to share what are going through, to show why this movie in general and Namor in particular is so important and precious to me as.
I feel like he was right all along, just like us wanting nothing other than protect his land and people. Time is now for Ukraine and someone has to end this monster, burn those russian world | peace* they bringing everywhere they go, and we'll not hasitate.
* in russian there's one world for this term, basically it means "coercion some country to peace by violence and propaganda for expantion through the world"
I think it's really important to point some serious issues in movies like that. You may not like the movie, or actors or else, I respect that, but it's social commentary, it's impact you can't overestimate.
I believe some nations should be pointed at this on and on and on like "yes, YOUR nation did it. Yes. Yes it did. It's part of your history and responsibility is not going anywhere. Your way of thinking now is a part of the problem! Take it, rethink it and work it out,  like a mature nation should".
I believe that we can overcome this trauma, educate people [ though some of them may use the Clockwork orange therapy instead ], and in some time make world a better place without all this shit.
I've seen [ Wakanda forever ] two times at theaters already and I'm planning to go for it again. I want it to make a good income, I want corporations see at least financial benefit of educating people, of making an empathy gap smaller.
I want them to seek profit in making a good culture and history representation, to give voice for this people to talk to a wider group of people - its freaking Marvel, after all. To educate and unite those who suffering with generational and colonial trauma.
For example after "Encanto" someone might catch themselves wondering - who was those people that attacked Abuelas village and why would they do that?
Like "The Woman King" left me shaken . Movie may not be 100% historically accurate, as I'm aware, but it was good as the work of art, it showed culture, tradition, and the tragedy. It really drove me to this culture, I hope many people as well wanted to know more, and more.
Simple wandering who K'uk'ulkan may originally be, what a meaning his figure may originally have, may lead people to more serious research. To study, to respect and adore as this cultures in the way they deserve to. Like my childish adoration is booming and blooming now, bringing me so much joy, im eager to learn and resurch. I just hope books from my childhood aren't burned to ashes in occupied town where I left them.
And I'm only waiting for my salary to try to buy some books end explore world of Black Panter more. Same for comics in general - I was torn from pop-culture growing up, trying regaining this loss in past few years, taking friendly recommendations here, indigenous, POC or queer stories\creators is a priority.
I'm open for discussion, since my mind is a mess after this movie. I have so many thoughts, I love it - the movie and thinking thoughts -  very much.
We can also discuss how amazing it is to see celebration of any other than white european cultures on the big screen, how beautiful it is to see people of color on the leading roles, and black people in position of power through the plot. To show them as good and proud people, who know their worth, and will not tolerate any disrespect towards them. [ and how pleasing it is to see so pissed off people those empathy ends when starts conversation about the minority they can't associate themselves with. It's not about or for you, wolrd is changing, adjust a little, baby boy ]
We can discuss the messages from Black Panter movies that someone with the real power do not use it to cause harm, but the weak ones always seeking power to abuse the others. The message about loss and grief. Like now I have deeper understanding of our national motto "heroes never die".
Or we can share our love to Namor. As my sister told me after the movie - despite our shared thalassophobia we'd love be one of Talokan people. To have place then you'll be safe and secure, to have fatherly caring figure of K'uk'ulkan that always by your side protecting you, making sure that all will be well. Aqua papi? Aqua papa, por favor, gracias. And please - his little wooden house - isn't it adorable? Does his mother inspired him to make it? Does that mean his heart still have some little room for something from the surface? I don't need sleep, I need answers.
You can offer your theme to talk about, but if you coming to start some rude shit here - I'll not hesitate to block you immediately. Same goes for those who didn't like the movie as much as I did, I respect that, just chill out and pass by.
For the ones who read this to the very end - exclusive announcement. On my art acc I'll definitely draw my beloved feather serpent god, not once nor twice, since now it's a comfort character of mine and im going to embrace my urge for historicall, cultural and mythological studies as much as i can. But with some time pass. I have the ideas, now I need to gain some stability, mental at least. I'd love to share love for him with you, feel free to be my guest.

Thoughts about Wakanda Forever
Okay, now that the first weekend is over here are my spoilery thoughts. It's still tagged, but if you didn't watch opening weekend...
First of all, this movie is so... rich. Like, the world is so much deeper, not just because they introduced stuff like the Midnight Angels, but also because it feels so much more lived in. The entire world feels full.
I am really excited to see the Midnight Angels get a big screen introduction, and also REALLY didn't expect them to get one even though I knew Aneka was in this movie. Like, I REALLY didn't think Marvel would just actually introduce them like that. But I'm also torn, because I really wanted more Ayo and Aneka. And the head kiss just feels... empty? Like, you could assume they were just sisters or besties or something. I know Ayo called her "my love", but I wanted more. And IDK how I feel about it being Okoye and Aneka instead of Ayo and Aneka. I love Okoye, though, and she can do anything she wants to do.
That last battle, though! The Midnight Angels, Shuri's Black Panther, Ironheart all fighting Namor and Talokan!?!?! I said it before but it feels like this movie was written especially for me. When I was still in college, and later in grad school, these were characters I was reading in comics, and writing in fics (except the Midnight Angels, never wrote a fic with them), but kind of never expected to see them on the big screen. So, that moment was surreal in the way the 3 Spider-Mans was, for me. I was literally holding back screams in the theater!
This was for the comics fans, for sure. If you like these characters in the comics, this was pure fanservice.
On the grief. It was clear that phase 4 became the phase about grief, about moving on, about missing those who we love. And that makes perfect sense, in universe, because in many ways, the MCU and the fans lost so much in phase 3. It's a shame that we lost Chadwick in real life, but I feel like the phase would have taken this direction, either way. In the movies, we'd lost so much, too. And Coogler was saying how BP2 was going to be about grief, in its own way, even if Chadwick had never passed.
We all lost so much in real life, too. My father passed away this year. It's still very surreal and it still hurts and I can't... be without him.
In that sense, I felt Shuri so much in this movie. Losing someone so suddenly, so absolutely, and there being very little you can do about it. I watched my father go to the hospital thinking he had pneumonia, and die 40 days later from lung cancer. The pain Shuri was experiencing on screen, I experienced just this summer. It was surreal to watch, and also cathartic. She and I went through very many of the same emotions. Everything just feels like it doesn't fucking matter anymore. And I'm very angry. Very angry. All the time. I apologize for how it sometimes comes out, especially on here, but just know that I get Shuri's desire to burn the world.
Ramonda's death shocked me. I also may have numbed myself to it. My mom is all I have left, too, so I made Ramonda's death a story element, and tried to take it as nothing more than that. Outside of my own emotions, here's what I think about that death:
I feel like it was unnecessary. I know they wanted to give Shuri motivation to go after Namor. I also feel like they wanted to give her a reason to want to become the Black Panther, after she expressed no desire to bring back the herb. But I feel like attacking Wakanda was enough. Even bringing Ramonda to the brink of death would have been enough. She didn't even see her in the ancestral plane, so it wasn't necessary. It was just fridging, and frankly it was a copy of what they did with T'Chaka, which was T'Challa's motivation in Civil War.
I do like the choice to show her Killmonger instead of Ramonda or T'Chaka, though. In a perfect world, she could have seen T'Challa... Anyway, Killmonger was a good call out for her and also a great representation for how she was feeling. She felt the same pain that Erik felt when he came to Wakanda for the first time.
Going back a bit, I also love how RUTHLESS Ramonda is. I mean, maybe that's not the right word? But she is not taking any shit. She is not returning any shit. She will not sit by and have any shit.
People were criticizing her for sending Nakia and calling Namor, saying that it was a calculated move so that they could attack. Eh... it was more like a calculated move so that Nakia could get Shuri and Riri out without having to fight Talokan's strongest protector. The girl who got killed was an unfortunate casualty, but that was not planned. The girl was ABOUT TO KILL SHURI and there was no choice but to shoot her first. Also, I still maintain that Namor taking Shuri/threatening to hold her hostage was an act of war. I know she went willingly, but he was saying he would not let her leave... directly TO the queen. I looked it up just to make sure I wasn't wild, and yes, it's against the Geneva Convention . Which I'm well aware that Talokan is not privy to, but in any fantasy fiction with royalty, kidnapping a princess is an act of war. (Also, the girl wasn't literally Namor's child. He calls all of them "my child." Just like Okoye isn't Ramonda's daughter, though she calls her "mother" sometimes. Also, he called Namora "my child" too and she's his cousin.)
Namor, Namora, Attuma, all well done. I like these versions of these characters (I guess we don't get to know Attuma well, but he's a shit talker AND he's extremely noble, and I like that about him.)
Attuma giving his breathing apparatus to Shuri was so good, to me. It shows that the Talokanil are not bad guys. They aren't heartless. They are just trying to protect their own people. It was an act of humanity in a tense moment.
This! Namor! IS! SO! GOOD! I like him. I like that they didn't just make him a villain and forget any of the nuances that make Namor such an interesting character. When he killed the people in the helicopter as they tried to flee the ship attack, omg! I loved that. It perfectly illustrated his take no prisoners, leave no witnesses approach, and his utter disdain for the surface world. I also loved his introduction to Ramonda and Shuri. He sees Talokan in Wakanda. They are extremely similar and made similar choices to protect their people from the world. There's a reason he comes to Wakanda for allyship, and it's not just the shared interest in protecting vibranium/the shared importance it has to their cultures. It's because he assumes that they know all too well how dangerous countries like the US and France and the UK et al are. They both saw people like them enslaved, beaten, murdered, raped all for land and resources. They both did whatever it took to keep their prosperity a secret for those reasons.
OMG OMG Y'ALL. NAMOR IS OFFICIALLY THE FIRST NAMED MUTANT IN THE MCU. I mean, there have been a few other references and that little Easter egg in Ms. Marvel, but this is the first time a character said "I am a mutant."! NAMOR IS THE FIRST MUTANT! Just like he should be!
More thoughts under the jump.
Ross stuff was interesting, but got lost in all of the storytelling. Except as a great way to set up VAL as a big fucking problem in the future! I like Ross, though, and I want him to continue!
Okay, so... it looks like Shuri isn't taking the throne, maybe M'Baku is, but... is anyone else worried? Val mentioned taking down Wakanda through destabilization. Transitions of power are a really destabilizing time, and in the past decade, Wakanda has lost 3 monarchs. I feel like this could be a big problem coming up. I have confidence that Wakanda cam motherfucking SOLVE IT, but this is... a potential problem for the future.
MCU really don't like confirming ages unless the character is a teen bc it becomes more important, but they REALLY need to clarify Shuri's age. I think she's very easily like 23, based on the timeline we've been given post blip, but also, people keep saying she's "a teenager." I really don't think so? Like, even Peter Parker was 18 the last time we saw him, and I think that was still supposed to be the 2023/2024 school year, and he would have graduated that year. And Shuri is a bit older than him. IDK. It really felt like they were playing her older. The overprotectiveness was less because she's young and more because she is Ramonda's only living child and technically the heir to the throne. Ramonda both cannot stand to lose her and cannot afford to lose her only heir. (This movie definitely ends in 2025 or 2026, there's been too many "one year laters" and stuff, and it's post-blip.)
I like 19yo Riri instead of minor Riri. It's not a huge deal, but it gives you more room to play with that character. Although I'd love for this to be like... her senior year of college so she can still have been a prodigy that was in college early.
LITTLE T'CHALLA!!!!!! That was soo sweet, I was crying so much!
IDK if I have other thoughts. Everyone stan. I guess the last thing I wanna say is... I hope everyone doesn't hate Namor. That shipping fiasco really fucked me up. ISTG I don't even ship the shit that much, I was just feeling the very Disney prince/princess "let me show you my world" thing. It was also giving the guy from The Woman King who came to Benin and was gonna run off with main girl. That's what I meant by "oh, he was feeling her" and that it was fun to ship. The whole bit in the first half was very much giving "I can show you the world! Shining, shimmering, splendid! Tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?" I very much think it was on purpose, and the moment where he kills her mother was meant to feel even worse BECAUSE they wanted you to think this was a potential romance. It's also why Namor says "This could have been different" at the end. When has ANY character ever said that NOT about romance? The reason why nobody shipped T'Challa with Zemo is because there were no such moments between them, and there was nothing to ship, really. Although usually someone ships any pairing you can think of, so there's probably some T'Challa/Zemo shit.
I really don't wanna be thought of as a shipper. From a story perspective, I 100% think this was intentional. Nobody would write something like that and not intend for you to read it as courting. He thought he could court her and entice her to his side. I saw a take that he was doing that on purpose to make her like him and coax her to agree to burn the world with him, and that, I can agree with. That's also really good storytelling. He probably thought "If I woo the princess, I win Wakanda's support." In a different type of royal fiction, he'd probably have asked for her hand in marriage for the same reason. Like I was saying the other day, you CANNOT have a kingdom that is lollipops and rainbows. 100% of them are shady and problematic, inherently violent and practice cruelty. Including Wakanda. And as benevolent as Namor seems, there's no way he's been king for nearly 500 years without being absolutely manipulative, cold, and calculating. Also, I'd argue that if Shuri was a white princess, all of y'all would have read this as him courting her, either genuinely, for allyship, or both. There's this idea that to protect black girls we gotta infantilize them AND we gotta desexualize them, but in some ways, that gets a little weird, too. Even if you don't "ship it", I don't know how it's hard to see that he was courting her. ESPECIALLY when you consider that for a long time, marriage was MAINLY used for alliances instead of love.
Shuri isn't interested in dating anyone, I think. I think she's still too hurt. Even Riri, who I think she really likes, isn't catching her eye that way. And I honestly think that's best, right now. Shuri needs time to heal and to figure herself out. But I love the Shuri x Riri dynamic, and I hope we get more of them together. I think they had Riri a little toooo... scared, shocked, audience stand-in character in some moments. But I loved her complete admiration for Shuri and I need more of it!
Chile but I didn't like the Ironheart suit in this one! I'm sure we'll get the sleeker suit in her series next year. And I hope we get some pink in the suit. This Riri doesn't seem like she'd be into it, I feel like she's not clamoring for a pink suit, but I love the pink elements in the comics suit.
Okay that's the real end. Stan Wakanda Forever. Watch multiple times if you can!

Hydra hurt us, but he brought us together Masterlist
Tumblr media
Keira Williams was a Hydra asset known by many as Reaper. But, after 2012, she was forgotten in Cryo. When the Avengers found her, she ultimately was handed over to SHIELD, where she would become an agent. Keira becomes an Avenger, but when Bucky resurfaces as the Winter Soldier and Steve wants to go after him, she helps Steve even though shes risking her home with the Avengers. Old memories and feelings resurface, but will it be enough?
Bucky Barnes X F!Oc
Warnings: THIS IS AN OC FIC NOT A X READER!!, there will be mentions of death, death, abuse, mentions of SA, mentions of suicidal thoughts or actions, Canon typical violence. If there is any missing please tell me.
Authors note: please mind my rant here. there will not be an endgame or Infinity War. I hated those movies and almost all of the shows that took place after them. This whole book will be a happy one (for the most part) where everyone is alive; there's no super unhappy ending. If you don't like that you can leave. So no Steve going back in time (because that just throws his whole arc out the window), no Wanda vision, no Loki show (that show drives me nuts and I hate it with every fiber of my being), no She-hulk, and no ‘no way home’ (still haven't seen it, and never will) we are also going to pretend T'challa is alive (but rest in peace Chadwick), also no love and thunder either.
(That movie ruined Guns and Roses for me, also it made no sense to me, also I'm probably gonna get hated on but fuck Jane) pretty much all of the Avengers live together, besides when Tony and Pepper get married and he moves out, all of the Avengers + Loki (and yes he lives with the Avengers) live in the Avengers compound (the one they move to after the tower) obviously there will be some avengers that dont live in the compound, like Antman, captain marvel, and strange. but yeah, hope you enjoy this,
Let me know if yall would like to be in the taglist
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 4
Chapter 3
Chapter 5
Chapter 6
And more to be determined
