I thought about sharing what's been my view during the last few days... I can't believe how much I needed to leave the big city for a while, my stress levels have mostly gone and the only reason I think I won't get rid of the constant exhaustion it's because I won't have enough days to sleep and fully recover! 😂
Tumblr media
Anyway, I'm not dead, I'm here, and I so want to have time to read all your wonderful fics and stories, but as I've been so exhausted, the moment I try to pick anything to read I start falling asleep and it sucks (it's not that your stories are boring, it's just that I'm too tired! 😂).
During my time out I've managed to read some Choices' chapters though. And of course, I have some opinions no one asked for (but I need to share them anyway):
ALPHA is EVERYTHING Wolf Bride should have been. It was such a fun reading! But let me tell you, I'm going to need many answers in Book 2, Book 1 left too many unsolved questions.
I also managed to read THE BILLIONAIRE'S BABY. My biggest issue was that I didn't understand certain dialogues and attitudes because they weren't consistent with the game I was playing. I ended up restarting the book and that's when I realized that if you don't pick any diamond scenes until the story forces the MC and the LI to hook up, everything makes much more sense. I mean, the book is still awful (especially the ending... that was so "wtf?!?"), but at least now I kind of understand what I read.
The last book I finished was SHIP OF DREAMS. It's not a terrible book, it's not a mind-blowing book, it's OK. I can't compare it to the Storyscape story because I never read that one, but I honestly didn't expect the plot to be different to the movie, so no surprises there. The amount of smut was completely unnecessary, I think it ruined a lot of moments, especially because the characters in the book had very nice personalities that could have been further developed: both the nice guys and the villains were on point. The ending? Disappointing, as it didn't solve one of the big conflicts in the book.
Right now I'm reading UNBRIDED. Man... what did they do to Mandy? By the end of Untamable, she was the LI of my MC's brother, and then suddenly she becomes a LI for my new MC? It took a lot of chapters to understand what had happened between the end of Book 1 and the beginning of Book 2. Awful move! That should have been explained at the very beginning of the story! I also hate, hate, HATE the fact that you can't be a genuinely nice person without having some romance involved. Most of the time there is no choice and that makes me feel super limited in my game. Finally, I don't understand why the MC is so scared of telling everyone her secret. I didn't expect to get a good book here, but even if the story makes sense, I'm so limited in my choices that I end up feeling I can't play the book the way I want to and that kind of ruins the experience.
Anyway, I hope to be able to return to this little corner soon. I miss being here, but the constant exhaustion is not helping. I can't even keep up with all Choices' releases as I used to as I fall asleep mid chapter, so I'm reading books that have at least 10 chapters completed and that's kind of working better at the moment. I miss my life from a few years ago, where I was tired, but I had time to share stuff here. I'm on my way to fix it, but I really need my body to cooperate for it to work! 😅

I really hope it is not another spin off (which I now it will but whatever). It has become quite predictable like Chasing you didn’t need a spin off and Kali ended not to long ago there was literally no need. They still have a lot of genres to explore (I will die if they release a survival one especially a zombie one 😳) but they prefer to keep with the same stories and writers.
Today missing Storyscape more than yesterday specially Edge of Extinction and Eternal City 😭😭

I feel sorry for anyone who didn’t get a chance to play Storyscape. They had the best stories to ever come out on a VN app. Sigh. I miss it.

As much as I hate to admit it pixelberry choices is the most 'inclusive' out of all choose your own adventure story apps
It’s true. As sad as it is, it’s true. Storyscape was somehow more inclusive than Choices even though its lifespan was significantly shorter. I miss it.

Did you ever play Storyscape?
Tumblr media
No, but seriously, I miss her. Damn you, Disney!
I managed to play through most of the stories at least once. Only got through the first few chapters of Titanic and the X-Files so I don't have any full opinions of those. I do remember pissing off Mulder cause I accidentally hurt Scully though. My bad. Life 2.0 was really good but Mishel was woefully underused. Now I'll never be able to know what the fuck was going on in Eternal City. I played Edge of Extinction the most because of my beloved, Joseph Mboya. The app needed more diversity for the MC's though. Don't go through the trouble of giving me all this immersive storytelling if my ass can only be Black in 2 outta 6 stories. Still, what a waste.

i often feel like wandering into C++land anytime post-2012(ish) is like picking up the tv show Lost around season 4—you missed years of important context and abruptly-abandoned subplots, so on some level you are never going to “get” it the way the true Lost fans do, but also, when you point out the rando smoke monster death in episode 47 seemed kind of disappointing and poorly-set-up, you’re not exactly wrong
but hey, you get to watch all these hot people bein messy & wandering around in a charmingly convoluted storyscape, so that bit’s pretty neat
anyway, for this season’s finale, let’s check out yet another proposal for “fixing” c++ (no not that one, another one), which is super charmingly-presented and cutely done even if i’m still in the “just ditch this language for something with actual memory safety whenever possible ffs” camp

Haunt and MC doodle dump, aka: I miss Storyscape and drawing him is how I cope.
Haunt making fun of how small MC is despite being a total firecracker. She's less naive now though, especially since she can read now. But he shares his dark jokes with her.
Tumblr media
Haunt comforting MC after she has a nightmare about the garden....he doesn't mind to much. He never saw her so afraid, even during her Cager initiation.
Tumblr media
MC's gotten older now and Haunt is having....conflicting feelings. MC was always cute, but she was never cute.  It does not help that she’s also still reads for him.  Any book she finds, she reads for him.

It’s time to ramble on into the void about StoryScape again…
I’m having regrets about not recording my play-throughs of Eternal City so I’m really grateful to those who did. I’m reading walkthroughs and the majority of choices are listed as having “no effect”, probably because the app didn’t explicitly tell us their impact and we didn’t have the app long enough to discover it all, but watching someone else’s play-through really highlights the differences. Let’s just say there were A LOT of story paths compared to most other VNs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This asshole, Bezoar, head of the Caretakers guild, brought in the orphans as to work in the gardens providing food for the rest of the city. They were worked hard, fed little, and never allowed to leave. Slaves basically. Bezoar actually believed he was a noble guardian and that the kids were ungrateful for his care.
There’s a scene in the first episode where you find Bezoar crying in the garden and if you offer him sympathy (which I refused to do until my final play-through), escaping the garden in later episodes is a lot easier as he turns a blind eye. I can’t remember all the variations of that scene but there’s far less blood spilled if Bezoar lets you leave.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s 30+ choices in the first episode alone and I know some of the interactions with Page, Violet, Mudboy and Cinder will have an effect later in the story. I’m looking forward to seeing how those play out compared with what I remember of my choices.
Your steps take you home—back to the gate you found unlocked. You don’t recall deciding to return, yet here you are…
…on the wrong side of the gate now, back in your prison and staring longingly into the groves.
The gate is locked. You’re as trapped as if you never left.
You want to scream as your liberty is stolen by the logic of a nightmare.
