i know i've made this post before but it regularly irritates me that people are Right about how a clean space effects your mental stability. fucking hate that i always feel better about myself once my apartment is clean. what's next? exercise that actually improves my mood? fuck off.

Every week I come into the one work location and there's just... DVDs all out in front of the other ones, blocking the titles so you can only see the ones in front, stacked on their backs, instead of the ones lined up deeper in (see Dia. 1)

So every Wed and Thu, I pick up the ones in front, and stick them on top of those ones, so you can see Every Single Title (see Dia. 2)

Today I had just finished doing this when my coworker came out to relieve my shift so I could go home, and I had noticed some of them were sort-of alphabetised. We don't do this at the bigger store because Customers (also we have hundreds of them on racks, not a single bookcase like this location, and we'd need a dedicated employee to do that and watch customers like a hawk to keep them tidy. There would be fisticuffs). They'll put shit back wherever they feel like it, and trying to keep it organised is an exercise in frustrated futile energy expenditure.

I ask coworker, "are you.... alphabetising these?" to which he replies, "YES! I do it every week and somebody keeps messing it up, so I have to do it again!"

I just blinked, and was like, "Yea we don't do that at the other store, because there's customers who don't give any fux about where they stick stuff back in. This seems a great way to make yourself crazy."

He just looked at me like I was the crazy one

Apologies for not having been around much! ❤️  I’m doing well; just been busy with work and Life Things – I was reunited with my old piano after a couple of decades a week ago! 🎹  After so long apart it was a very emotional process for me, and I’ve been offline mostly to play it again LMAO. 

As expected I’m really crap at it after 20 years not playing, and nowhere near the advanced standard I used to be (I’m struggling with basic piano pieces at the moment LOL), but I’m enjoying just playing for pleasure for once 🎹  rather than doing (ABRSM) piano exam after piano exam. I’ve forgotten pretty much everything now, so I expect it’ll take a few years to re-familiarise myself with all I’ve lost – to begin all over again – but I’m OK with that 😁 

Anyway, it means I won’t have time to post Chapter 56 of “A Chance Engagement” this month like I’d hoped, even though it’s been ready since last December (before I moved home; won’t have time to update any other longfics this month either). I’ll be resuming painting soon too, but I aim to post the next chapter next month when (hopefully) things have calmed down a bit! ❤️

#this year honestly ended up being waaaaaay busier for me In Real Life than expected LOL – and way more wall-paint-filled than expected LOL #basically we decided this week we're going to paint one of our old IKEA bookcases rather than spend money buying a brand-new bookcase #so.... i guess we now need to learn how to paint bookcases LMAO and not just walls and ceilings and skirting boards and doorframes? #anyway #hope you're all well #hollyand rambles

ANON!!! i cannot show it bc i’m not at home but i have two yellow versions of neozone that i actually got for free bc sm gives albums when u buy their concert tickets (idk if they still do this but this was for 127’s 2020 NA tour which got CANCELLED and i got refunded for two tickets but they didn’t ask for the albums back so…technically i say it’s free 🤭), i also have reload ridin’ version. and then i have hot sauce crazy version that i ordered from the sm official website worst mistake of my life it took FIVE MONTHS to get here but i got an extra mark pc so life was good🥶 and then i have itzy’s crazy in love (ryujin ver. ofc)!!

edit: the fic… the fic is ..! definitely there as in i wrote so much and then i went back to it the next day and hated it 😭 but i had self control and did not delete the whole thing !

Made an ikea run this afternoon. Got a shelving unit I've been wanting for a while, looked at some ideas for my partner's new home office, and made an impulse purchase of a tea pot and a pan. Most of the things we were considering are sold out but there's a few available for order that we might try and get, just have to do some measurements first before the final decision is made.

#it's finally happening #I'm finally getting the work area i was promised five years ago #even if it means i have to scream until it happens it's happening #i think all i really need now is one more cabinet and a chair and I'm good #smaller things like extra shelves for the closet and drawer inserts can wait until I'm ready to put stuff away #might have to look for a rug too if my partner decides they want my old green one that looks like a tatami mat #they need to make a decision on what shelf they want for the office and what other things they may need #then we can try and order and start making a dent on things #maybe next i can get more bookcases finally even though they're super expensive now #I'm tired of having to dig through boxes to find the book I'm looking for #i just want to feel like i belong in this house and not feel like a temporary guest

Does anyone else have that issue where you have piles of books but you don't want to put them on a bookcase until you've read them or you'll buy more books.

But you still buy more books anyway so the piles get bigger and more numerous but every time you think to put them on a bookcase you look at that book you put on your bookcase that you haven't read yet and just... Stop?

Or is that just me?

GOD, it was so good!!!! i was hooked from the first page. it was beautiful and heartbreaking and i cried buckets. another one to add to the list of my favourite books

finally mustered up the courage and energy to clean my grody flat only for the vacuum cleaner to die halfway through cleaning the livingroom

#had to return it to my roommate to charge so i guess i'll do the rest tomorrow. #it took 20 minutes for me to vacuum up half of the worst of the stuff in the livingroom. i still had the kitchen. hallway. both bathrooms #and my own room to go #then after that i was supposed to mop the kitchen and then the two bathrooms #and then scrub the kitchen sink/counter and floor #and that was going to be the HALFWAY POINT OF CLEANING THE HOUSE OVERALL #we have to clear out the cupboards and figure out whats ours and what old tennants left behind #and split them into keep/donate/throw piles #and then also clean them because the previous tennants. wouldnt wash their dishes. or their hands. or clean. anything #im not joking. my current room had to be professionally cleaned before i moved in #because the girl who moved out left rubbish/old food/used sanitary equipment/multiple pieces of rotted furniture #and a rice cooker in the corner with rice so old it was black #genuinely the most vile kind of people #anyway after doing that dishes stuff we then have to go in and scrub/sanitize the cupboards #which are old and stained #so this way we can replace what needs to be replaced and have room to put appliances away when we aren't using them #then after that i can have a go at scouring both the bathrooms showers/sinks/toilets #and then after that treat some of the stains in the carpet lf a bunch of rooms #and i also want to look at deep cleaning our furniture (couch #/dusting bookcases/maybe getting more decorations for storage) #and THEN #FINALLY #i can talk to the landlord about being allowed to plant some native nz bushes tree and wildflowers because theres so much unused dirt #that coule really REALLY make this flat look a lot nicer from the outside #and be beneficial to the native birds that live in the sanctuary below us/local bee populations! #tw: unsanitary #< cos this house is.... insanely bad #oh fuck i need to clean the windows too actually
