"The Ally"

Yuu pressed the peach-colored gloss to her lips with practiced ease. You'd think that something so simple could be done without thought at all but she knew that perfection wasn't easy.

Grimm slept soundly curled up on the bed. He was taking a nap before their appointment.

Yuu was expecting the photographer in a few hours which gave her time to finish getting ready.

No, this shade wouldn't work.

Yuu wiped away the lipstick. It wasn't the right color and this shoot was too important. It would be the promotional shoot for her new release and everyone would see it.

Her gaze drifted to another tube with a beautiful shade of plum she had saved when she last toured. It was her favorite but never had the heart to use it, because when it was gone then it was gone for good. The brand didn't make it anymore and she didn't want it from another.

Okay, so maybe it wasn't about the lipstick. Maybe it was deeper. It didn't matter.

"Rook this isn't funny. Can't you take her for the day?" Vil growled over the phone as he adjusted the baby in his arms. He kept her grabby hands away from his tied up hair.

"Non, you know how busy I am right now. The exhibition opens in a week and the installation pieces need to be overseen and tested. We are behind schedule as is. As the artist, I need to make sure everything is perfect. Bella can't be here with all the construction." Rook sighed "Can't Monsieur Poison Apple watch her?"

"No, Epel is presenting a few of his show horses for an upcoming competition. I don't want her around a bunch of animals while Epel is working." Vil couldn't even imagine what could happen in such a situation.

"It won't be so bad our Trickster will love her. She has always had a soft spot for little ones. She looked after our dear Epel after we graduated and made sure he was a great dorm leader."

" Yes, it is a bit much to show up at random with a baby." Vil sighed. "What would she think? After everything we..."

"...have faith. At least you can say you have become more nurturing. If I recall she liked it when you showed you cared for Epel." Rook tried to joke.

Vil remembered it, she would reward him for being nice to her friends. Not with presents or vocal praise, her reward was something she didn't know she was giving. When she was happy with him her eyes had this warmth. Vil had once believed that smiling with your eyes was hust an idiotic line from scripts from romance movies. But when she did it he understood. The unabashed joy showed on every inch of her face was captivating. It was an expression he could never replicate.

A little hand tapped his cheek as he reflected. Bella's big round eyes blinked owlishly.

"Thank you for trying to help. I'll call once I get back." Vil said ending the call.

They were almost ready for the shoot. Yuu had on a floral lilac tea-length dress perfect for a garden party. Grimm had on a matching lilac dress shirt with white pants and suspenders.

"Grimm, remember you can't play in this outfit and get it dirty." Yuu knew the foolishness in asking a toddler not to get their clothes dirty but he had hoped Grimm would listen. The photoshoot wouldn't be more than a few hours.

There was a knock on the door. Yuu cursed under her breath, the photographer was early and she still wasn't ready. She couldn't let them wait.

She quickly answered and the figure behind the door wasn't who she expected at all.

Long white gold hair, lavender eyes, and picture-perfect face. She'd be a fool not to recognize him or blind. Vil looked almost exactly the same, It was almost like time stopped for him.

All the while she had changed alot. She filled out here and there, especially after becoming a mother. She didn't complain since it was easier to balance a toddler on your hips with a curve. The downside is becoming a human pillow whenever you sit down as Grimm needed to be glued next to her. Time didn't stop for her.

A small gurgling hiccup made Yuu's eyes shift downwards to the stroller that was just off to the side. Inside was a baby about 7-8 months old. She was beautiful. Soft fair skin with pink cheeks, curly blonde locks with streaks of black, and brilliant purple eyes like Vil. She had a stuffed apple toy in her mouth that she was determined to bite.

"Oh, my...congratulations Vil." She was excited of course. She loved babies and this own was so cute and so much like Vil. But despite having no reason to be upset she felt a pang in her heart. Vil had gotten married. Probably, no defiantly to someone beautiful beyond reproach. She had to be the fairest of them all and smarter too. She probably loved Vil with all her heart.

That thought comforted Yuu. This amazing woman would take care of her friend and brought him a beautiful healthy child. There is nothing more perfect.

"Thnak you, her name is Belladonna."Vil said watching for any change in Yuu's expression.

He noticed the wistful look she got when she saw Bella. Something he felt a little bad about. He knew how much she had wanted a baby in the past.

"Wasn't he adorable?!" She could bearly contain her joy as she practically skipped around the studio.

One of the supporting actors had brought their baby in after their nanny canceled. It was holding up the entire shoot much to Vil's annoyance.

He had plans to take Yuu to that play she had been harping about. Though he wanted to see it too.

"Babies are only perceived as cute because otherwise, they'd be so ugly we'd abandon them," Vil said plainly. "Why else would you want a screaming creature that defects itself?"

While what he said wasn't technically a lie Yuu still swatted his arm lightly.

"I get it you're jealous of babies who get all the attention. You don't get it. Babies a pure, they are experiencing things for the first time and are exploring the world around them. When you're around them you just know you will become the person they rely on to teach them and keep them safe." Yuu said with stars in her eyes.

"I get it you want to push out a screaming pinkish monkey one day." Vil taunted.

"I will remind you that you were once a screaming monkey. And I bet you were the cutest little chubby baby." She gushed in a baby talk voice. "I can't wait for you to walk down the aisle so you can have one of your own."

"As if, I'm not the one to settle down nor have a child. I have my career to focus on and if you want to write those books you harp on you'd do the same." Vil wouldn't even entertain the thought.

It's not that he actually disliked kids, he knew better than anyone that parenthood takes away opportunities. You can't be present and working all the time.

"More good women have been lost to marriage than to war, famine, disease and disaster. You have talent, darling. Don't squander it." Vil had heard Professor Crewel tell Yuu this once.

It was the blatant reminder that whatever 'this' was between them would not last.

"She's beautiful Vil...I bet she looks just her mother." Yuu smiled as she taped the Bella on the cheek making the baby squeek in joy as she grabbed Yuu's finger.

"Yes, she does." Vil sighed. He didn't want to bring her up.

Yuu bit her lip. She did want to talk about this anymore but there was a part of herself that wanted to punish her for her feelings.

"I can't imagine you getting married. Unless it's one of those celebrity marriages that don't last but you'd never do something crude like that." Yuu laughed.

"No, I never got married. I prefer the single life. My mother however thought it was wise to start another family and Bella was left to me." Vil picked up his little sister and let Yuu coo over her.

"So she's not yours? Wait? I thought you and your mother were estranged." Yuu asked.

"We were but after she said she wanted to make up after getting pregnant we began talking. I still resented her for abandoning us but I was willing to be a brother. She however just wanted to leave another child behind." Vil didn't blame Belladonna, she was another victim.

"I see, I understand how you probably feel. Parenthood takes you by surprise." Yuu smiled, she guessed anyone can change.

Suddenly Vil looked pass Yuu shoulder.

"Dear, what is that?" Vil asked with a puzzled expression.

Yuu turned her head and saw her three-year-old sprint by with only his pull-up on.

"Grimm, where are your clothes?" Yuu asked calmly.

"You said I couldn't get them dirty. Now they won't."Grimm said as though he was a genius for finding the loophole.

Yuu sighed.

Vil and Yuu sat and talk while Grimm slumped against his mother's side. He had been redressed with the help of his mother's friend. Grimm was a bit star-struck as the very pretty man straightened his shirt.

Grimm had never met anyone this pretty except for his Mama. Yep, not even Vil could win this battle. One day Grimm will love another but no one beats his wonderful mommy. He will forever be a mommy's boy. Vil had captivated Grimm especially when he helped comb out Grimm's hair. He called Grimm "A little potato " and Grimm didn't know what that meant but he liked it.

"So you just found him?" Vil asked his eyes drifting to the boy who shyly buried his face him Yuu's side.

He was relieved but felt embarrassed to think that. The prideful part of him couldn't take second place but that shouldn't mean that Grimm didn't deserve a mother. He'd feel no different if it was Bella. She had become his world.

"Yes, I feel lucky every day. If not for Grimm I doubt I would have ever had a child." Yuu said sadly.

"You've always wanted a baby though."

"I wanted to get married and do the traditional family. But I've known for a long time that's not something every man wants. I want that person to be the one for me but I'm greedy. I wanted him or no one." Yuu shifted her gaze away.

Vil almost apologized. He may not have known who broke her heart but that didn't mean he didn't understand.

Bella began getting fussy as she made a loud babbling yell for attention. You could practically hear her saying "What are you doing over there and not looking at me?!"

Vil knew Belladonna only wanted attention from new people. She wanted Yuu to go back to cooing over her. He picked up the little girl and placed her in his lap. Bella however didn't want daddy she wanted the nice pretty lady. She reached out her tiny arms and made grabby hands to be picked up.

Yuu squealed in excitmemt as she scooped Bella up in her arms.

"Oh my goodness! You're so widdle!" Yuu gushed.

Bella actually had a reason she wanted Yuu as she turned her head to her chest and nuzzled her breast. She was hungry.

Vil and Yuu turned red.

"I don't know where she learned that. She's a bottle baby. She's never even breastfed." Vil said trying to take Bella back only to get kicked with her little sausage legs.

Yuu laughed at the father and daughter duo. Seeing Vil frazzled for once was hilarious and adorable.

"Why don't you get her bottle and I'll feed her." Yuu said.

Vil thanked her and went to warm up a bottle.

Grimm watched the baby with curiosity. He had never seen one this close before. She was so little, even littler than him, and Mama said he was really little.

Grimm touched the baby's little foot with tiny tiny toes and the baby laughed.

"Baybe." He said in awe.

"Yes, she's a baby. You used to be this small too." Yuu ruffled Grimm's hair.

Bella reached out patted Grimm's hair as she copied Grimm. Grimm had hearts in his eyes as played with Bella's hand. Her hand wrapped around Grimm's finger as she gurgled and chirped.

Vil returned with a bottle and passed it to Yuu. With a bit of help Yuu fed Bella.

"You need to try to remain clean and tidy Grimm." He said sternly as he brushed the boy's hair back in place.

"But Mama did it." He pouted wrapping his arms around Vil's forearm.

"Then make sure she knows not to do that. You're Mama can be a very affectionate so she doesn't know when to stop." Vil warned as Grimm laughed.

After Bella was fed and burped Vil sat her down in her stroller. She would get sleepy soon but he didn't like laying her down after eating, too risky while digesting.

The photographer arrived right after and Yuu and Vil discussed boring stuff with them whole Grimm stayed with the baby.

Grimm got an idea and ran up the stairs and stumbled back down with a picture book in one hand.

"Look Bella this is my book." He said showing the baby. He was going to read her to sleep like his Mama did. " It's about a queen and the prince of fruit."

The book was actually called "The Noble Queen and the Prince of Apples". The book starts with a boy who lived in an apple orchard. One day a queen passed by in her carriage and wanted an apple. He asked the boy to pick an apple and when the boy handed it to the queen the apple turned silver. The boy was amazed and asked the queen how he did it. The queen said that he would teach the boy if the boy came to the castle with him. Everyday the boy had to work for queen. He did every task the queen asked which required patience and thoughtfulness. He learned to be graceful by drawing water without making a ripple, he learned to lead by organizing the queen's schedule and giving orders, and he learned to speak by watching the queen stand before the crowd. Every time the boy learned a new skill the queen taught him a spell but everytime the queen showed him a better spell. He turned a peacock feather gold, turned water into wine, roses into silk, and a mirror into diamonds. The boy would stay to learn more and more and before he knew it years had passed. Until one day the boy made a spell that grew a silver tree with apples of gold and leaves of diamonds. It was a gift for the queen and only he could pick an apple or break a branch off of it. The queen was happy with the boy and told him to return to his orchard. In that orchard the boy found a new kingdom had been made and the queen had given the boy the land to rule since was now ready. From that day on the boy was the Prince of Apples.

"That's a beautiful story." Vil said feeling that it sounds vaguely familiar. Still, he liked the sound of this queen.

Yuu pressed her lips together praying Vil didn't realize.

"Vil we should focus on the photoshoot. I need to get the kids outside." Yuu placed a hand on Vil's shoulder.

A quick outfit change later the families gathered in thr garden. Grimm stood at his mother's side as she sat down next to Vil who was holding Bella.

"You are a beautiful family! After this can I have the mother hold the baby and the little guy sit with his dad." The photographer said.

Yuu blushed, the photographer might have gotten the wrong idea when she asked to include extra guests.

Vil had no problems as they shifted to the next pose. Grimm gleefully sat on Vil's lap as he leaned over to hold Bella's hand.

Vil laughed, he knew Grimm was a natural model. The boy loved the camera or the attention at least. The photographer managed to get a candid picture of Vil kissing the boy's cheek as he smiled brightly. It came out so perfectly you'd think they were an ad in a magazine.

Vil couldn't wait to share these with everyone. They did look like a perfect family and he found that he really liked the way that sounded. He can admit he was wrong about family life.

The Cheesy Stuff

summary: You and Logan get into the Christmas mood, getting a tree, decorating and even watching a Christmas movie with hot chocolate and cookies

pairing: logan sargeant x fem!reader

LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO

“Logan I dont think it's going to fit…” You say knowing he wont listen to you anyway. “No…no it will” He says, not admitting it himself, but you were right.

“Do we really need a real Christmas tree? We could always just get a fake one, it would fit in the apartment better” You suggest, looking up at the tree Logan wants to take back to your apartment.

“Yes we need a real one..” He says with a huff, wrapping his arm around your waist. For context Logan wanted to go out to a tree farm and buy a tree for Christmas, but he severely underestimated how much space you have in your apartment.

“I just don't know if we have enough room” You say softly, leaning into him. “We will baby, don't worry” He says with a smile, squeezing you into his side. You let out a soft sigh, if only he wasn't so stubborn.

“Baby, I want to put up this tree…” He says, trying to convince you as he puts on his best puppy dog face. “C’mon, don’t be a party pooper. This tree is beautiful, we have to get it!” He says, holding a tight grip on you.

“Why do you never listen to me when I say no, I never get what I want” You say, rolling your eyes at him. “Baby, I always get what I want, you should know this by now.” He says with a smirk, squeezing you closer into him.

“You’re paying for it..” You say with a defeated sigh, “And you’re going to help decorate!” You add on.

“Pshh, I’m gonna make you pay for half…” He says in a teasing manner. “Of course, I’ll even help decorate it” He says with a wink.

“Now…let’s go get it loaded onto the truck!” He says, grabbing your hand and quickly heading towards his truck.

After Logan pays for the tree, and you help him get it loaded into his truck you head back to your apartment, which is thankfully only one story so you got it in no problem.

Once you get the tree inside, Logan quickly begins to set it up. “Aww, I forgot how much work it was to put a Christmas tree up…” He says with a big sigh.

“Oh come on, it’s not that bad!” You tell him, getting out the ornaments and other decorations. “You’re right, we should have gotten a fake one…” He says, looking up at the tree. “It’s too late now though, we might as well make the most of it!”

“I told you so..” You muse with a smirk, watching him put the lights on the tree.

He laughs as he strings the lights around the tree. “I know baby, I know…” He says with a smirk of his own.

“Hmm let me put on some Christmas music!” You say, getting onto your TV and clicking onto Spotify you play the first Christmas playlist that shows up.

Logan smiles softly while he continues decorating the tree. The Christmas music starts to play and he turns to you with a smirk. “Is this going to be one of those cheesy Christmas movie nights, where we cuddle and watch a movie while we have hot chocolate?” He asks.

“Do you want it to be?" You ask with a grin, helping him place ornaments on the tree.

“Hell yeah I do” He says as he hangs more ornaments. “Do I get extra cuddles if I go out and get your favorite cookies?” He asks with a smirk.

“I think so..” You reply with a smile, “If you go now I’ll finish decorating and even make something to eat” You add on, knowing he would have gotten the cookies anyway.

Logan places a quick kiss to your lips. “I’m gonna hold you to that!” He says before grabbing his coat and heading out to the nearby grocery store.

Quietly humming along to Last Christmas by Wham, you finish decorating the tree, and even decorate the main area of your apartment a bit.

You walk over to the fridge, grabbing a frozen pizza from the freezer and putting it in the oven.

Soon the pizza is done, you cut it up and place it on the coffee table in front of your couch, and place two mugs of hot chocolate next to it too.

Logan comes back, bringing the cookies with him as well as some of your favorite candy/snacks. “Here you are honey, I went ahead and picked up a couple of extrast” He says.

He looks at the food, then at you and smiles. “This is all really nice, did you make the hot chocolate?” He asks as he sits down on the couch, setting out the stuff he got you.

“I did make the hot chocolate..” You say with a giggle, picking up the Williams racing mug you were gifted by Lily and drink some of the hot chocolate as you sit next to Logan on the couch.

Logan smiles a bit bigger, and he scoots a bit closer to you so he can put his arm around your shoulders. He takes a slice of the pizza and eats it. “So…..I was thinking we could watch your favorite Christmas movie” He says, looking at you.

“I thought you hated that movie though?” You ask surprised that he would suggest watching your favorite Christmas movie.

“I don’t like it, but it’s your favorite” He says, squeezing your hand, and placing a soft kiss on your forehead. “Plus, if I don’t let you watch it now, you’re just gonna make me watch it again later aren’t you?” He says with a smirk.

“Hmm well you aren’t wrong” You say with a giggle, moving to set down your mug, and grab the remote, turning on your favorite movie as you snuggle up into Logan, eating a few slices of pizza and cookies.

Logan wraps his arms around your body, kissing the top of your head every so often as you snuggle together and eat the pizza.

Soon the movie ends, with only a few slices of pizza left and most of the cookies gone, mugs of hot chocolate empty.

You’re laying right on top of Logan, too tired to move or get up to clean.

Logan smiles at you as he lays on the couch with you. He looks at the pizza, and the cookies, and back at you. “I’ll take care of it later” He says, grabbing your hand and squeezing it as he nuzzles his head into your shoulder.

“Thank you baby..” You mumble out with a smile, taking in his warmth. Logan smiles at you with half asleep eyes, his breath warm against your shoulder, “I love you Y/n…” He mumbles.

“I love you too Log” You mumble back, tracing your fingers along his chest.

I do have some other IFs that I worked on in the past but I don't recommend playing them (I was still learning how to write at that time, so they aren't great). But if you want some IF reccs, I can recommend some IFs I've read recently.

(Sorry for the tags friends, and for the rants!)

(Released) My all time favourite is The Fernweh Saga by @lacunafiction - it's just genuinely so good and it always gives me the vibes of one of those shows you watch after dinner, that becomes part of your routine and you want to see desperately what happens after, and the characters become part of your memories, almost like people. It's just UGH such a good IF. If you like nostalgic hometown horrors, this IF is for you.

(Released) Very close favourite is Blood Moon by @barbwritesstuff - WEREWOLVES GUYS!! I've replayed this game so many times. It's one of those games that after you finish, no matter how long of a break you take from it, you always return to it. I love the "found family" of this game, even though it's not really found, it's just... family. I miss them! The romance in this story is also written so beautifully.

(Released) Another fav is The Golden Rose by @anathemafiction - it was one of my favs while it was still in WIP and after it's released I took so long to play it cause I never wanted to finish it. Like, I grew so attached to its story that I didn't want to let it go. 😭 Very well written characters and the descriptions of things, places, feelings, expressions, mannerisms, is so endearing and eye-catching, never a second where I skipped a line, I was CAUGHT. If you like a story with ominous beginnings, middles and ends, this is for you, not to mention the whole religion themes that are so interesting to dive into.

(Released) I miss this one so much but The Soul Stone War by @intimidatingpuffinstudios - there's two books out for this one already and each one is better than the previous. It's fantasy and about powers and there's a dragon lady that you can romance, and the POLY IN THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! Very soulmate-y romance and just generally captivating storytelling.

(Released) Nothing will ever hit the same as The Passenger by @the-passenger-if - there's just something so familiar, so memorable about this story. I don't think in my next lifetime I will ever forget it. It's about an eldritch horror battling with humanity and it's raw primal role as a monster. It feels short but only because you're so into it that time passes you by, but the tone and the flow of this story is very well done (as well as the characters! 🥰).

(WIP) I feel like everyone and their mothers know about Infamous by @infamous-if - but I'm going to talk about it anyways. It's a BAND IF, yes, music, yes, adrenaline, fame, and all the bad decisions that come with it. It's only one chapter out right now, but it's very worth it. I guarantee you the brainrot you will get from this game is going to consume your life.

(WIP) A somewhat popular one as well is Body Count by @bodycountgame - I haven't seen a game do the whole modern reality TV show with a tinge of horrifying brutal horror as well as Nell has, and even though it's still in its early stages, it's very well done and interesting. Lots of ROs to choose from, and genuinely funny humour to laugh about in between the crying sessions of a favourite character dying.

(WIP) Haven't heard that many people talking about this one to be fair but Chop Shop by @losergames - Also a very early stages game, but it's very adrenaline inducing and has so much potential that has me shaking in my seat. I'm already half in love with the cast and I can't wait to go need for speed and play a super chaotic individual.

Also any game by @hpowellsmith, they're amazing at creating consistent well written stories that have such great characters and even better representation. They do it so well, and I've been a fan of them for years now, definitely one of my role models!

I'm sure there are many more IFs out there that you NEED to play/read, but my mind is blank right now, and these are the only ones I could think of. I also don't have as much time to get into an IF, but I'm getting there (thinking of getting into Shepherds of Haven - which you should!)

Dofus: Book 1 Julith a beautifully animated film that failed.

I haven't watched this movie in a long time but I think this movie COULD have done well. HOWEVER, TWO things fell short (for me).

1️⃣- Title. It has a BAD title. Terrible title. It should have been called something else. Something more appealing. More attention grabbing. I'm not good with titles myself but let's just say Dofus: The Guardian of the Ebony Dragon. That took me TOO LONG (40+ mins) to come up with. Titles are not easy but the current title doesn't stand out.

2️⃣- Rushed exposition. I didn't feel properly introduced to the world. If you're gonna sell a movie series you have to introduce the audience to your world properly, especially if it's fantasy AND if you want to make more of it. Think Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, we got to understand the world within the first movie.

I feel like this Dofus series should have been planned as a trilogy but starting with the stories of Julith and Jahash. Here is how I would have planned...

Part 1: Introduces the audience to the world of twelve, main 12 classes, and the lives of rivals Julith of Brakmar and Jahash of Bonta. It would be an enemies to lovers story (an action romance) on how they become guardians of their cities dofus (the ebony and ivory ones). It ends with Jahash and Julith falling in love, having a child (Joris), and dying. Whilst also giving a hint of evidence that Julith might be alive. Showing they had people against the unification of their rival cities. BONUS: Introducing the classes would get people (artists mostly) interested in making their own Dofus character and posting the art online further marketing it. And you could use it to introduce people to the game thus making more sales. 🧠 business brain. Part 2: Would be this movie (Dofus: Julith Book 1), focusing on their son, Joris, and how he finds out that his mother Julith is alive and out for revenge. And how he is connected to the ebony dragon/dofus somehow (or how he becomes it's new guardian like his mother). And blah blah blah Part 3: Would unveil the culprits behind the deaths of Jahash and Julith. and blah blah blah. And how Joris officially loses his adolescence in this discovery and grows up to be who we know him to be in Wakfu. Kind of a dark coming of age story.

That's how I would have structured it. If it was structured like this I would have been invested in this trilogy. It has romance, mystery, drama, action, and angst.

Was the movie good? It had GREAT animation, good action scenes, fun characters, but it needed more story, more exposition. More world building—To at least attract an audience who has NEVER heard of Dofus before. I would 100% watch this movie again!

To me, it feels like Tot wants to build something like Star Wars, One Piece, MCU, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones—A HUGE WORLD that people all over the globe will know and love.

However, the company lacks consistency. Ankama started off as a game company. Then they branched into animation and comics. Now they're using all forms of media to tell their story.

Having to play the game AND read the book AND watch the show/movie, is too much for the average consumer. I don't play games anymore. So now, I will miss something because I don't play the game?

Personally, I feel like there should be ONE form of media to keep track of the WHOLE story (while still making the shows/films/games). That format is BOOKS.

Books are a GREAT way to keep things linear and on track. At least with a book, even if you branch out to animation and get cancelled you can continue the book with the story as planned. And after you have finished the book, maybe someone likes your story and will want to pick back up the animation.

You should watch Dofus: Book 1 Julith for the animation and action scenes. The story is fine but needs more.

Upon little research i found out they did make books for Dofus: Book 1 Julith. IDK if it's good or what it's about but it does exist.

Rodimus, for the character ask? —singingcicadas

First impression

I despised him. I thought he was an awful man baby. I fully expected him to be the worst part of MTME.

Impression now

He’s snuck into my heart. Sure, he’s still got issues. Loads of character development to go before he’s able to maintain any friendships. But he’s making progress!

And he’s more competent thant I thought he would be. It’s just that the same things that get him out of trouble tend to get him into that trouble.

He’s actually a lot like Tony Stark: a good man constantly resolving to do better, who just as surely slides back into old patterns. Two steps forward, one step back. They both need someone to not be their yes man and hold their feet to the fire of improvement.

Drift could have done it, if he hadn’t been so scared of abandonment himself.

Favorite moment

When he was prepared to die by using the Matric to stop the killswitch. When he he said there was no moral value in dirt time. When he resolved to live so he could become better.

Idea for a story

So I’m working on a series where TFA Rodimus also has a Lost Light adventure. And I since that character is practically a blank slate, I’m basing him off of IDW Rodimus.

So for plot reasons I can’t go into for spoilers, Rodimus, Drift, and Megatron go into Decepticon territory as nonhostiles. Drift, social chameleon he is, is very different. And TFA Rodimus, having been born after the War, has never seen that side of him. Like he knew Deadlock was a thing. But seeing how confident and respected Drift can be, the deadly grace even in just how he walks, it’s startling. And while not all of the changes are good per se, there are a lot Rodimus wish Drift felt comfortable showing in Autobot territory.

Rodimus spends a lot of time reflecting on his friend and the state of their friendship. And yes, he does come to some realizations about his own role in Drift’s masking.

Unpopular opinion

Rodimus is not secretly in love with Thunderclash. It’s not the kind of annoyance that melts into romance. He genuinely loathes Thunderclash. And Thunderclash would just talk at him. Rodimus was genuinely giddy at the thought of Thunderclash dying!

The fact Rodimus joined Thunderclash’ crew is the ultimate proof of how far he has sunk in the Bad Future.

Favorite relationship

I really love him and Drift and I will forever be mad that that friendship was practically dropped in favor of Dratchet. They could have helped each other grow in so many different ways. To make that friendship last would require them to face their own flaws and improve. Not that it would be easy. I spent 16k words trying to get them to have one adult conversation.

I also love him and Megatron. The way they’ve left imprints on each other, went from no respect at all to Rodimus lying in court for Megatron, it’s just beautiful. I want them to be forever flying on the Lost Light together, two good friends and captains.

Favorite headcanon

In the Bad Timeline, after Ratchet’s funeral, Rodimus gets a message from Minimus. It’s a link to the original Star Wars trilogy with a note to let him know when he’d finished watching them.

Rodimus cries when Darth Vader dies. He’s never related so hard to a character as he’d related to Luke Skywalker then. To love a monster, a monster you knew to be good, who you wanted so badly to live but couldn’t deny was a monster and deserved his fate. To be powerless to save them, and in his final moments, the monster thanks you for all you have done.

It takes Rodimus an hour to compose himself enough to call Minimus back.

“It reminded me of Megatron,” Minimus admits. “And that it’s very lonely mourning alone.”

Rodimus leaves Thunderclashe’s crew and moves in with Minimus. Together, they mourn and heal.

Wakes you up with breakfast in bed (he got it from the breakfast restaurant down the street), gives you a handpicked bouquet (it's mostly weeds, but it's still pretty), and has a dinner booked for the two of you at the nicest restaurant in Piltover

You two finish out the night watching movies and cuddling on the couch, his arms always around you and a blanket covering you both

"Happy Valentine's Day, sunshine. You ready to head out? The reservation is at...god you're gorgeous"

It's a stay in kinda Valentine's Day with Mel. You both have a rare morning of sleeping as long as you want for the day, having to convince yourselves to even get up and get dressed

Once you two are finally up, Mel insists on painting you for the remainder of the afternoon. She poses you on the couch, looking as comfortable as ever, and takes her time painting every detail she can see. She adds herself right next to you of course, and you find a nice spot to hang it once she's done

The night ends with a good homecooked dinner and wine

"Keep still, darling. I'm nearly done here. Your perfection takes time to capture"

She's trying, okay? This is her first Valentine's Day she isn't alone and romance isn't exactly rampant in the Undercity. That doesn't stop her from giving it her all though

She takes you around to all the best spots in the Undercity. Breathtaking views, great street food, anywhere she thinks that you'll like. Vi tries to avoid the more sketchy areas with you to try and keep you out of trouble

The day ends with you two falling asleep in each other's arms while listening to your favorite songs

"Hope you liked today bun, I promise I'll try to do something a bit more grand next year"

Caitlyn has been PLANNING

Though she is still extremely nervous and a bit awkward at first. She just wants to make sure everything goes smoothly. The day is planned to a T. A slow morning, having tea together, going out to rollerskate. Then heading home

To pack for a picnic under the stars! You two spend nearly all night stargazing, grazing on whatever you packed, and cuddling on the blanket

End of 2024 winter season - part 1

So! It is the end of another anime season. Here's what I've been watching:

Yeah most of them were Saturday releases and it was a PAIN cause it meant I barely had anything to watch during the week. It did give me time to binge other shows tho so I ended up making a lot of progress with my alphabetical series this season (I’m actually almost done with it but I ended up starting 2 anime that aren’t part of the series lol so!)

As of this last week, A sign of affection, The apothecary diaries and Mr villain’s day off have finished airing. This week, the final episodes for Cherry magic! and Solo leveling are coming out so reviews for those will be next week!

A sign of affection

Yuki is trying to navigate the new world that is college as a deaf person with the help of her new friend Rin. One day she meets the well travelled Itsuomi and they both catch each other's attention. Itsuomi starts learning sign language to communicate with her and as they start seeing each other, things develop in the cutest way possible.

Honestly, I was excited about this anime ever since I heard about it a while ago and it somehow managed to exceed my expectations. This is literally the cutest college/university romance I've watched and I wanna see more of them SO BAD, PLUS the side couples are adorable as fuck. The art style is so pretty and seriously fits the vibes of the anime. This is not a skippable one imho, DEFINITELY watch this, especially if you like romance.

The apothecary diaries

Maomao, an apothecary working under the emperor's concubines at the palace, comes across strange happenings and solves mysteries. Jinshi, the young eunuch that all the female palace workers have a crush on, develops a liking for Maomao.

This anime is so unique, probably due to the fact this is an anime not focused around romance with a female protagonist who's badass and her character doesn't revolve around a man. Maomao is one of the coolest female characters I've come across in anime PERIOD. Especially in a shounen. Tho tbh I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a shounen or a shoujo anime but either way, we love Maomao in this house.

The animation is beautiful as well as the colour theme chosen, just like a lot of anime recently. I genuinely think this anime would be liked by anyone and it might be my new recommendation for people wanting to get into anime as it's an easy watch and doesn't have any weird anime tropes in it.

Mr villain’s day off

Slice of life anime about what the villain does on his day off. Pretty self explanatory. This is cute and definitely just a feel good anime. I did find it slightly boring and some weeks I ended up skipping the episode and then watching it the week after. But I also am not one that watches a lot of slice of life, especially not ones where the story isn't continuous between each episode. If you like slice of life, you'll probably enjoy this tho. Cute art and I like the colour themes chosen. The intro and outro were surprisingly good as well. This was probably my least liked of the season. I need angst or at least some romance lol

hmm, okay. fave and least fave RH stories!

Let me start here: I know TPOT and all the ridiculous Robin Hood references I made in it might make it seem like I have an intense wealth of knowledge of this particular story, but the truth is:

I decided to do Whumptober 2022

I wrote Bree's arrest and did not have a plan. (I was also writing Fen and Freddie and The Curiosity Collector at the same time, and I was winging all of it.)

I needed a plot to go along with the "makeshift bandage" and "self-done first aid" prompts, so I invented a guy, called him Will, and then put Bree in the cell next to him.

As their characters began to form, I came up with the title The Prince of Thieves (obviously and knowingly stealing from the movie) because it sounded cool.

When I decided to rewrite the story, that was when I decided to fully lean into the Robin Hood foundation I'd set up for myself.

And it required a lot of random research! 😂

All this to say I'm neither a fangirl nor an expert, but Robin Hood stories have a bunch of things I actually love: archery, heroes with strong principles, evil bad guys, fun character archetypes to play with, a cool historic setting, found family, and romance. So I simply couldn't resist.

Okay now that I've made it clear that I'm no RH expert, let's assess the RH stories I've consumed.

Disney's Robin Hood (1977): a classic childhood thing. Lots of fun. 100% part of my whump awakening.

BBC Robin Hood (2006): probably a terrible adaptation overall (don't remember it well), but it was filled with such attractive people that I absolutely did not care. Fondly remembered by me because I watched it around the same time as the BBC Merlin.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991): I can barely remember this movie but I am aware of its reputation. I am slightly emotionally attached to it because I watched it while I was on a student exchange. We dragged mattresses into the common area and watched it together. So fun.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993): most recently watched, as you know, and truly hilarious. Extra points because I am in love with Cary Elwes in this era.

Once Upon a Time (2011-2018): meh. don't remember much. Sean Maguire as RH didn't thrill me. Can't say much more.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (2013): I will actually die on the hill that this short-lived show is fun to watch, but it has some tropes that speak directly to my soul plus characters from Aladdin and RH so of course I would say that. Objectively, I don't think it's very good. Will Scarlett is funny and has a great northern accent (but Cyrus is my man). Robin is still boring AF.

Verdict:

Fave: goes to BBC or Mel Brooks.

Least fave: Kevin Costner or OUAT

“top 5” 80s shows, top 5 characters and why

80s shows

1. The A-Team (1983-1987) This is the only show on this list that I've finished. It's horribly cheesy when it wants to be, and when you get a bad episode, it's a legitimately bad episode... but I'm weirdly fond of this series. The way the writers sort of drip-feed (?) you overarching storylines and character backgrounds is done in such a strange way that I'm not sure that original viewers would've gotten the same viewing experience as modern viewers who are able to binge the show. The Vietnam War veterans angle isn't something that starts to take proper shape until s2, but from s2 onwards, the episodes that allude to the characters' war experiences are done in good taste and I think make the characters feel more complex. Granted, there's no real payoff for these references, but there's also a sort of silent understanding among the main characters. They all worked together during the war, and they all understand that they don't need to talk about what happened. I think there is an argument to be made to the fact that even tho the characters left the war behind, the war is something that will continue to follow them for the rest of their lives.

2. Remington Steele (1982-1987) I haven't watched past s1 mostly bc I'm not ready for the show to abandon Murphy and Bernice and double-down on the Laura/Steele romance. I really like this show tho. Decent set up, decent episode plots, a good balance of humor and seriousness. For as much crap as I put Laura through on my blog, I seriously do really like her. She was apparently the first female private eye on television too ?? and this show became the blueprint for what would become Moonlighting. So that's cool!

3. Magnum P.I. (1980-1988) This show is at it's best with the Vietnam War-based episode plots. Apparently this was the first tv series to show Vietnam War veterans as protagonists in media; everything before this showed veterans as some trauma-possessed mass killers ?? which feels very '70s, honestly... While you sometimes have to power through half a season of cheesy monster-of-the-week-esque eps, it's worth it for the more serious performances. Tom Selleck was literally the perfect casting choice for Magnum.

4. Booker (1989-1990) Even tho I didn't finish s1, I liked this more than 21 Jump Street. While I like the og series, the concept becomes very wash and repeat after about 20 eps in when you consider the implications of how many high schools exist in the same city. The acting in Booker is a lot better, and it's an interesting setup for a private eye plot.

5. MacGyver (1985-1992) This is not my favorite 80s series by a longshot, but I watched the first 4 seasons and the tv movies, so I feel like I need to mention it. The pilot is the best episode, as weird as that sounds. MacGyver is known for things like being able to escape a locked room with a stick of gum and a lighter... but weirdly he only does that in the pilot ???? The series overall is... not good? *snorts* The plots are half-baked at best, the supporting cast makes you groan when they make appearances, and for some reason every single woman that MacGyver is friends with or in a relationship with, dies in some horribly tragic accident. While I would recommend this, dO NOT watch it expecting some cinematic masterpiece.

1. James Bond (from the book series, not the movies, tho Timothy Dalton is closest to book!Bond) Oh my beloved James Bond, always on the verge of turning in his resignation letter akjdnakjbfajbf. I've only read about half the books so far, but I've jumped all over in the timeline and Bond is honestly a very jaded character. He's the epitome of a workaholic, but at the same time he knows he's not happy. Every time he tries to make some sort of change in his life to seek happiness, all his plans blow up in his face and he's often left lonelier than he was before. It's very interesting to follow a character who sort of just lives in the present, bc he fully expects not to live past the age of 40.

2. Sonny Corleone from The Godfather Love me a slightly unhinged male character who supports women's rights. There's a whole thesis I could write about how Sonny and Michael are essentially foils in the plot. Their father assumes that Michael is the more "Americanized" of his children and they butt heads over that, which is so hysterical bc Michael ends up proving that he was the most traditional of them all; Sonny was the one who was the most "Americanized" despite being g.roomed to take over the business from his father. Hate what the sequel films did to his character and background, but alas, book!Sonny will always be my favorite.

3. Janis Ian from Mean Girls I like Janis for the simple reason that's she's petty. She sees through a lot of the bullshit, but she's also self-aware enough to know that she's not above bullshit of her own.

4. Fanny Price from Mansfield Park I like how she made up her mind and stuck to her decisions and didn't let herself be bullied into changing her mind.

5. Ed Chigliak from Northern Exposure I think his character is really well done, showing sort of a modern Alaskan indigenous experience through the eyes of a character who's half-Tlingit, half-White. He's a nice person and enjoys his hobbies and wants to tell stories. He's not bitter like other characters on this list; he's just happy to be here.

Initial Impression: kBL same production as Blueming (KENAZ) and it has reincarnation and curses or something? I saw a few clips on twitter about the first ep and it seems hilarious, hope it’s great bc it’s one of the few kBLs I’m acc looking forward to because of the plot and not just for Korean practice. || After ending, people have been criticizing the ending and also for its messy plot in such a short time but I’m still curious about it so I’ll give it a try (esp cuz so many of the kBLs lately have apparently been meh that I needa add this to the watchlist or else I’ll hardly get any practice done)

Overall Impression: I feel like this should be higher just because it’s got a cool concept and the cinematography’s good but I felt like maybe 1 emotion during this whole show (the hug in the car), which sucks. The writing in the show sucked, both in terms of relationship development (there was none. why were they from A to Z without B C...) and the fantasy/lore aspects. In a better show, Dongbaek’s dying wish to be the one who remembers next time coming true would be a punch to the gut but here, I don’t gaf

Overall Impression: sad that I've watched worse kBLs but since I had some expectations while going into this, it's more disappointing. I don’t really care for boss/employee romances in general and i think the fact that it’s positioned as wholesome/cute here so far isn’t working for me. if you’re gonna have the boss kiss the intern out of the blue while said intern is drunk, it needs to be framed in more of a rancid way for it to still be fun; dabble more with the weird power dynamics & lean into the bad vibes lol

Initial Impression: initially wasn’t interested in this one because everybody kept calling it a boring regular high school romance, watched the mock trailer around August 2022 and was like omg the trope of making the person you like run errands for you? (ex. True Beauty, We Best Love) + I tend to enjoy simply school shows. Then the actual show came out and everyone’s loving it 3 eps in, so that’s fun for sure.

Overall Impression: I really liked it, especially for what it was: a cute, endearing high school BL with really endearing leads and good acting and sometimes turning tropes on their head. I didn't love it or obsess over it the way some people seemed to but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I also loved so many of their faces lol Fourth and Prom my favourite beautiful faces but Gemini and Satang are beautiful too, not to mention Gun's mother whew! This made me giddy and the OSTs are great and there's clear effort from the cast and crew. I liked the dynamic between the characters, whether it be how Gun and Tinn took turns being bold and shy or the parent-child relationships or Chinzhilla band.

Overall Impression: I actually don't care about the plot of this show that much because I was mostly there for the characters and character relationships but it didn't give me what I wanted. I don't like Ben/Chopper and Nueng/Palm felt meh toward the end and also didn't give me what I wanted really. My big problem with this show which is that nothing feels like it gets enough emotion or gravity and instead it's either fixed quickly or we move on quickly. Anyway, idk. I liked the first 2/3 of the series even though it wasn't A Fave but it had some great moments and lots of potentials to me, so that’s why it’s +.5 more than 6. I stopped caring about the characters while watching these last 4 and these last 2 episodes were just so... agh. I just care about Chopper atp and want better for him. This was one of my most anticipated shows of 2022 (which is why I started watching it weekly), so it's sad that it turned out this way.

Initial Impression: Moonlight Chicken: I don't like reading or watching stories about cheating but this one looks so good :0 Also, suchhh a good cast like EarthMix, FourthGemini couples and also Khao and First like I’m expecting great acting and storytelling

Overall Impression: It's a good one! High quality with good acting and interesting storylines that are unique in BL. It didn't hit me as hard as it seemed to hit some other people though and I'm not thinking about it much at all since finishing. I think Jim/Wen's relationship was one of the weakest aspects of the show to me because I didn't care nor did I really feel anything and it might’ve been more interesting if it actually involved cheating. I loved Heart and Li Ming, I enjoyed getting to see Jim grow and also how his relationship with Li Ming changed, I liked getting to see Wen and Alan's flashbacks and to present tense relationship, I like Gaipa showing up once in a while to be bright, I thought Gaipa and Leng's interactions were funny, I loved Li Ming as a character so much, I wished to be him so badly.

Initial Impression: Watched the leaked trailer from February and it seems actually angsty and enemies to lovers and I’m very curious about that

Overall Impression: I really liked the first 5 episodes when there was so much contempt but Taehyun couldn't stop himself from terrorizing or goading Da Yeol and Da Yeol couldn't stop noticing how beautiful Taehyun was, and then the friendship that bloomed in that but still with an edge. I didn't quite get the reason for separation in episode 6 and think the last episode was cutesy but out-of-character sort of. Still, overall a pretty good one; reminds me of a mix of Blueming and Utsukushii Kare. I was giddy so many times while watching this, especially the first half and was clutching my head and curling my toes despite it not being romantic, just full of tension.

Initial Impression: People seem to have really liked this, on both MDL and Reddit both, so I’m looking forward to it

Overall Impression: The pacing of this was so good, they managed to give everything needed and timed it well within 2 hours. Well written, well acted, well planned, well shot, nice. I liked and understood the main characters and even the side characters had distinct personalities despite not being fully fledged. I loved how Gi Tae and Wan were so playful with each other, whether it be with the teasing they did and playing hard to get but also the easy affection they often had whether it be kisses, pecks, tickles, hugs, hand holding, just regular romantic touching - a good balance between being strangely chaste and very raunchy. Was cute and I’m glad this is the show that I watched after not watching anything for a while but I won't think about them again, probably.

Overall Impression: Not very good, it's kinda non-sensical and has terrible subs and I watched it all on 1.25x speed. However, I was deeply craving a typical university Thai BL and it gave me that with engineer students and enemies to lovers. Sonkhgram and Ai were pretty cute and their pretend enemies while both likes the other for years was endearing ig? The freshmen Pluster and Nano were also really good toward the middle-end, the little gossips and schemers. Meen and Bright were meh, it could've been more compelling. All in all, a mediocre show to watch if wanting something really tropey that requires 0 thought.

Initial Impression: long episodes and everybody’s been loving it and feeling every emotion under the sun for it

Overall Impression: It was interesting and I think the show had a good grasp on characters and relationship dynamics and progression. I liked that there were friendships each character had and that they existed outside of just this relationship; even some of the friends existed outside of just being a friend, like Yonnwon was a whole human. The female friends were great, Yoonwon is a treasure and I liked how Aeri was so sweet but so mean sometimes, a very clever city girl type. Also, the tension and cute moments between Jihyun and Jaewon (esp in ep 6 and 10) were great. I think it's a good show that's done well but right now, it's not taking up much brain space and it also didn't make me viscerally feel anything.

Overall Impression: Ah, the dynamic is so delicious. Older, colder, richer, more jaded Seoul city man and younger, cheery, puppy-like new adult. Also, ummm I liked how much Yul scolded Yechan, ah + that one time Yechan apologized by kneeling. Yechan is cute, esp his antics after the sexy dream he had about Yul, but I do think he's a bit too childish sometimes, so that's meh. Overall enjoyable but I didn't super connect with the story or the characters and likely won't be thinking about them again.

I literally skimmed so much of Ep 4 - 7, especially skipped over the main couple interactions and watched to see the plagiarism issue get resolved.

I feel like a lot of this show was objectively done well like the character arcs and acting and stuff but I'm not attached to any of it. The romance didn't make me feel giddy even though I really wish it had like it's strange that I didn't care at all about all those cute moments Kawi and Pisaeng had or the established relationship montages when usually they're some of my favourite aspects of a BL. agh whatever ig at least the show didn't treat Pear terribly.

Overall Impression:  Well, this is really as close as BL you can get without saying out loud that they are dating but there are innuendos galore and it's pretty clear (there was lube on their bed, like...). The family aspect was the best, I love that we got to see Su Yu's situation so much and his blended family and the way they were always there together. You can understand why Wu Bi prefers the warmth of their home over the coldness of his, though we got to see progress on that end too. Duoduo sooo cute, little munchkin. The ending is... an ending, that's for sure. Hope we get a season 2 next year but who knows.

Initial Impression: JamFilm new BL! Seems like it’ll have some sort of lawyer or justice type storyline, which is interesting. I’m really looking forward to it

Overall Impression: I really liked To Sir, With Love which was a lakorn and so was different than every other BL I've watched and was hoping I'd similarly love this one, which is also bringing something unique to the BL table. It started off really well for me, I thought Charn was such a fun (morally corrupt) character and was intrigued about what was going on. I liked the lesbians Maya and Rose as well ofc. However, I think toward ep 7 and 8, it kinda became very meh for me (that warehouse live stream scene not counting) because the mystery was too predictable/boring and thus had no tension, people kept making incredibly stupid decisions, and I wasn't attached to the characters enough to care/be emotional about all the wedding stuff. Nawin was a great addition in ep 7 though, so unexpected and fun. Unfortunate that the meh impression ended up being the last ones since that sticks with me more than liking it in the earlier eps.

Initial Impression: I’ve been anticipating this since early 2022, especially because I like both Jan and Off individually as actors. Now to see them as a pair! And it seems like a cool concept from the mock trailer. Thank goodness it’s being released on Youtube at the same time as Disney+Hotstar.

Overall Impression: The acting was great, the script was comprehensible and well-paced, the production is good, featured sex work without villainizing the workers or the work itself. I loved Mote’s little fantasies of possible scenarios or of imagining an interaction in a different way (the card game with June, convo with dead Pat). I’m impressed by the creative team behind it. I won’t think about this much after today I don’t think but I liked this little show.

Initial Impression: I’ve started getting into thriller/horror kdramas, think I’m gonna start watching Fantasy ones as well and starting with this because of Cha Eunwoo my beloved. || It’s finished and I know a biiig S2 ending spoiler and the reviews are meh but people loved CEW here, so I’ll watch it still probably

Overall Impression: The main female lead was whatever, wish she was just good at something. Whether it be fighting demons, fighting back via kindness and empathy, or actual power due to her status/wealth/connections. She's not the worst ever because she can still stand up for herself and she has personality but I mourn that they've written her like this. Van is just fucking boring and I don't care. My beloved Johan <3333 I liked his charming, cocky, beautiful character who was so intrigued by everything going on as if he really was 20 and curious about everything but also I liked his apprehension when it came down to it. The storyline with his brother was so T.T Also curious to see the evil brother half-demon Guntan and his sidekick niece Yeom-ji. They're both pretty cool compared to our 2 main characters. I wish the show flowed better in terms of the sequence of scenes and pacing and the main characters were more intriguing.

Overall Impression: Personally worth watching just to see the plethora of the gendered terms used with Night in drag/pretending to be kathoey (esp with Momey). Also liked the ending with “but who’s gonna direct?” [look into the camera] [screen with Directed by Jojo’s name] This was really fun and kept my attention well. I’ve seen people say that the humour didn’t work for them but it did for me. Also fun to see actors like Nanon, Film, Pond in these roles.

Initial Impression: not super sure on the concept because I didn’t watch the mock trailer but cool actors, cool vibes; hope it has strong script and production. || 2 eps are out and people have been really enjoying it, so I’m even more curious.

Overall Impression: I liked the first half with the artifacts and side stories more than the second half where they tried to do too much for a short runtime, not too much budget, and mediocre writing skills. I couldn't make myself care about Khatha or Dome and also it was funny how they kept emphasizing phi-nong with words but so romantic in action. I wish the fantasy and magic and parallel universes and time travel and cult and God and whatever else made more sense together.

Overall Impression: Lee Dohyun <3 My reason for watching but the show is bigger than just him. It was so addictive and entertaining, watched the whole show in like 2 days and 2 hours. Impressed by the acting of Lee Dohyun and the mother and Mijoo's actors. The show was mostly about the mother and son relationship, with the revenge plot + the Mijoo/Kangho romance arcs in the background. I deeply wish that Kangho hadn't apparently forever loved and understood his mother and did everything for her and sang her favourite song while studying for the Bar or whatever. He went low-contact with her in Seoul even before he discovered the stuff that made him break up with Mijoo, so I think the reasons behind that and the hurt and betrayal that caused him to take such an action should have been focused on more. We got fleeting moments of him being angry or her saying she's bad but it was all explained away or he understood or whatever. Anyway, idk, I think if that relationship was more clear + the ending of the revenge arc was more solid, I would've rated it higher because I did enjoy this but some things bothered me significantly.

Also, I don’t ship Geonwoo and Woojin, sadly.

Overall Impression: This was so cute, I liked the characters and their characterizations, the friend group, and their romance. I liked how they were mutually helping each other achieve their goals and paths in life. It was just cute. They had a 1 year long-distance thing in the middle where they were obviously sad but they got through it. I like that they trusted each other and liked each other and were nice to each other. Love that so much of this was them while in a relationship! Their high school undefined situation, then relationship while in uni and jobs and getting married. I love an established relationship situation and this delivered. They got through situations together, no unnecessary breakup or miscommunication. It's just good and cute and endearing.

Overall Impression: I wish the wrap-up/ending was done better/explained a bit more like what was that Ajin possession thing? No Ajin past? Why did we redeem mother so easily? Who was the blurry girl in ep 1 (maybe Yiwha?)? I wish the horror aspect continued on cuz I think it was strongest in the first episode but not much after that. It's had me hetshipping and lesbian shipping (Fa/Namsine were literally soooo) and that's a good mark. Good after credits scene to pique interest for a larger story, hope we get a good follow up next year.

Initial Impression: same reason as My Perfect Stranger (Saw this Tiktok (Twinkling Watermelon x My Perfect Stranger) and ended up watching a few more and idk, it reminds me of 18 Again somehow with like younger version and family stuff), it's also in the same tiktok, and it seemed to be very popular among the kdramas this year

Overall Impression: I'm fucking obsessed with this sort of concept: Parent and child being the same teenage age through some magical concept. It's got a good storyline, hilarious yet touching. I was afraid that they'd make Yi Chan's hearing come back but I'm glad it didn't; it's just something that has to happen to him for no reason the way these things just happen sometimes. The characters were well-crafted and the acting was great. Kinda slow paced, there were certain episodes where I was like nothing really happened, but I guess that's the point of the slice of life aspect in some cases; just watching the characters exist alone and together.I was into the ChCh romance from the get-go and thought they were sooo cute whereas EunEun were a more fun menace pair who I just liked to watch fighting before it gradually became a couple I shipped Very Much. Also, a shoutout to my Se Kyeong (OG, not Eun Yoo) and Chung Ah ship, I can't believe Se Kyeong's first love was her husband instead of Chung Ah. A well-crafted show, good acting, hit some feels and I expect some attachment to it (I'm rewatching and skimming certain parts as I write lol).

Overall Impression: Weird to rate just this half-show 4 episodes but really good and interesting, I'm enjoying it a lot. My favourite eps are eps 2 and 4, they balanced a good amount of heart with excitement (for ep 2) and plot progression/answers (ep 4 + ofc Lee Dohyun my initial reason for checking out the show). The 18 Again characters/actors are haunting me with this fr.

“I miss our adventures.” said Zoe.

Douxie looked at her. They had just finished watching a movie and were laying on the couch, next to each other.

“What do you mean?” he asked. “We still go on adventures.”

“Not like that. We used to travel the world, looking for the most dangerous creatures and saving little villages from dark magic. The most exciting stuff that happens now are the rogue creatures that come to Arcadia every once in a while.”

Douxie frowned. He sat, resting his elbows on his knees.

“The world has changed a lot in the few last centuries.” he said. “We can’t enroll on a pirate ship anymore.”

Zoe kept on laying on the couch, her icy blue eyes fixed on the ceiling.

“Even though it feels like we’ve done and seen everything, there’s something missing.”

“Maybe because we’re wizards.” answered Douxie. “It’s an occupational hazard, we need to know humans need us. That’s what we were born to do. And it’s been a long, long time since we could go out in public. They just don’t have such open minds anymore.”

They both sighed. Douxie knew exactly what she meant. They used to visit a lot of countries, mostly for hiding their immortality, changing occupations, names and looks from time to time. It was always exciting to arrive to a new place, ready to do their best to be inconspicuous. And then they had their relationship. A long, long romance that had tested the waves of time, separating and joining them again, battling inner and outer demons and showing them they should be together.

“Maybe we just need a little trip.” Douxie commented. “A short holiday. That could help us.”

“Douxie, we’ve travelled the whole world.”

“So what? Is there any place you’d like to visit again?”

Zoe sat next to him. Douxie took that opportunity to half-hug her, putting his hand on her back. She didn’t flinch, so that was a good sign.

“I need to be on full, raw nature.” she said. “I’m a hedge-witch, after all.”

“That settles it. You search for the perfect place for our trip and I’ll take care of everything.”

He smiled. She had to smile back. Being stuck with that doofus for centuries wasn’t as bad as she had thought. He was the only one who could stand her through the good and bad times. Then, all the charm disappeared when Douxie turned around and yelled:

“Get ready, Arch! We’re going on an adventure!”

So I have just finished watching the live action One Piece.

Not bad. I'll give my thoughts below. Spoilers, sort of.

So we start with Romance Dawn

So to just give how much I know about One Piece. I read the manga and have read all the parts of the East Blue saga and safe to say, Arlong Park and Baratie were my favorite arcs ever. Especially, Arlong Park.

So with that said, Romance Dawn. Luffy meets with Koby who saves Koby from Alvida. That's how it went but I did wonder how they were going to get Alvida thin as shown in the anime and manga. I actually thought that it might've caused an uproar with the woke crowd but in the end, she's still fat and did team up with Buggy in the end, which happened. Fun.

I don't have much to say. This was the beginning. It's to test the waters. And if you like what you see then yeah, you are in for a ride.

Next is:

The Man in the Straw Hat

Buggy the Clown. One of the first major enemies that appeared in One Piece. Let me tell you, the actor who played Buggy gave it his all and he is one of the best things that happened. Fantastic work by the actor. Kudos to him!

The crew gets captured by Buggy and all that. A lot got cut out like Zoro having this sword fight or some such. Memory is a little hazy but I am making this after binging the show so do forgive. Nothing really bad happened here. Buggy is just very menacing. He's like Joker. He's exactly like Joker.

Moving on, we got:

Oh god, Usopp. Ussop's arc, man! Tell No Tales is about Usopp and fuck me if it wasn't the worst shit I've seen. This kind of crap took too long. It shat on a lot of Ussop's character. He is a shot, a marksman and the fact that he ain't got his friends nor the epic showdown between Kuro and his crew against the Straw Hats is just damn disappointing. A lot was cut out. This will feel like a test for some because it gets boring to slog through this crap. This arc could've been done better but goddamn. This was a memorable arc from the manga but this was butchered in love action.

Next we have a continuation of the Ussop arc but with Sanji's backstory now. It's still as insufferable as the last episode but Sanji's past is not bad. Could've been done better. All I can say. Epic fight between Sanji and the other members of the staff that was with Kuro who were not in the anime nor manga I believe. So yeah.

Next up Baratie. Holy shit. This was it. The Sanji arc. I didn't really get my hopes up but two things were done here that made me consider this as the best live action anime adaptation. Sanji's backstory and Sanji's goodbye.

Suffice to say, both were done so well, so damn well that I cried. I cried when I read the scene in the manga and now I cried when I saw it in live action. My god. It's so wonderful.

I do see some folks comment that Sanji should've bowed to Zeff when he left Baratie but to me the bowing never really was the point. It was that Sanji was crying and said his thanks. Sanji crying while saying goodbye was the highlight of that scene for me and the live action delivered. We also get Mihawk and a look on Arlong. So there's that.

Just a continuation of the Zeff, Sanji Arc stuff. Said what I need to above.

Arlong Park. The arc that I said would be the basis of whether I would consider this to be a good live action. They should be thankful that they chose to put Sanji first before this because the emotional scene from Nami was fucking shit. It was shit. That's what it was!

THEY FUCKING RUINED THE EMOTIONAL SCENE OF ARLONG PARK!!!!!!! FUCK!!!!!! THEY BETTER BE THANKFUL THAT SANJI CAME FIRST AND THAT HIS ARC WAS MY SECOND FAVORITE. IF NOT, I WOULD HAVE CONSIDERED THIS TO BE AS SHIT AS THE REST OF THE LIVE ACTION TRASH!!!!!!

I'm just damn mad at how they just meh-ified it. Nojiko's actress was awful. Woman can't act and her child counterpart was equally awful. It was the arc I was waiting for the most but it didn't deliver. The emotional scene of the Arlong Park arc was the goat! THE FUCKING GOAT AND THEY BUTCHERED IT! FUCKING HELL!

I'm just peeved man.

A continuation of the Arlong Park Arc. Fight scene was meh. Garp's fight with Luffy is kinda neat though so I'll give them that. Damn.

Anyway after all that, I'll give this series an 8.5/10.

Some thoughts, please read the whole thing before commenting if you do end up reading. I just have some feelings to get out. They’re bittersweet yet hopeful feelings. This is kind of about romance, but not at the same time. I don’t usually do semi positive/negative posts. Ok as a ichihime shipper back in the day who was disappointed with how it was written (was also disappointed with poor Uryu being all alone and friendless at the end, but that’s a different topic). Tons of shonen aren’t romance manga but they made the romance at least somewhat believable. Bleach didn’t. Got confirmation on both sides how the other feels for each other from other shonen. Bleach treats it’s main romance like how Yusuke treats Keiko from Yu Yu hakusho. In the manga, the issue is Ichigo having zero romantic thoughts for Orihime at least once and for Rukia is the same for Renji. I thought this was a love square when it first started. While I do like the dynamic idea of Ichigo and Orihime, I actually wasn’t sure who would end up with who. I wasn’t here for the romance tbh. What does annoy me however is if you have an end game romance. At least have the characters on all ends acknowledge it. Anyway, my point here is, I’m glad Kubo admits he’s too lazy to write romance. Could of made the third movie he worked on about Ichigo and Orihime instead of Rukia and Ichigo. Like he straight up admits before the manga finished, he can’t do romance, so he won’t do it in general. (Makes me wonder why bother having romance at all, but at the same time, I have respect for that because he at least has self awareness . Readers shouldn’t be mad over the romance. Disappointed sure, that’s how I felt and still feel now that the anime is being done. At least Kubo admits it. tbh I feel like if ichi ruki was canon, he would of written that romance the same way. He said he never wanted to show any romance of any kind. Just cute moments like those romantic dramas of will they won’t they. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise for ichiruki people?). The naruto creator admitted he finds doing romance hard to do so he was lazy with it at the end of the manga which he probably should of admitted earlier on. He knew there needed to be development romantically so he had the anime naruto team do a movie for it.

Kubo actually had Ichigo acknowledge his feelings in the draft pilot and not the main series. I think that was a mistake. The pilot only really came out everywhere after the series finished and most people know the main series and not the draft pilot.

Also for some reason, Rukia and Ichigo aren’t allowed to be friends anymore now that Orihime and Ichigo get together. It’s awkward like a bad break up when Ichigo is brought up to Rukia in the romance novel that isn’t even romance because there’s no love confession, or actually relationship building. i think bleach is immature when it comes to romance. Like it doesn’t think the audience can handle a maturing relationship between two characters. Like they think young boys are scared of it, but Boys literally watch shojo and they love Komi can’t communicate for what that is, a lot refuse to sexualise Komi and feel very protective towards her character and also the romance in it. They loved the romance in My dress up darling (which started out mature but then fell back on immature romance. Like the vibe totally changed and it suddenly became a harem out of nowhere cuz that wasn’t advertised). Sailor moon is and was popular with both boys and girls.

some shonen that focus isn’t romance but does it justice when it needs too.

Detective Conan. (Long running manga. Still going. Established the romance straight up first volume where the boy and girl think about liking each other that way. Story is not about romance. It has tons of sweet moments. Kubo could of copied this other manga’s way of doing romance). (Made by man). Trigun (made by man).

D gray man (made by woman).

Shaman king (made by man).

Labyrinth of magic (Made by woman).

I hope the anime does improve with the plot holes of the manga and I hope kubo realises he should let the anime team do the Ichihime romance that it desperately needs for the development and conclusion. It is not romance, but it would be a mistake to do nothing in your last arc. Also let Ichigo and Rukia be friends. episode 1 looks promising story wise, visual wise the episode has a lot of just blue and orange colours.

Kubo once before wrote a manga called Zombie powder and he got bored and ended that abruptly just like Bleach. That’s twice now he has done this to a series. If he makes a third series, he might do that again, so I guess people should be warned. He’s like a fanfic writer, start out motivated and then just quits abruptly. I’m hopeful for the anime because the anime team is working on it, they won’t abruptly quit and scenes have been added already that weren’t in manga, so I’m curious where this will go. If you are Happy with everything. That’s fine. If you have a hatred for Bleach. That’s also fine. I simply am neither.

TAMYRA WILLIAMS’ FILMOGRAPHY ✯ A FINAL GOODBYE (2022)

*A Task 8: Home Sweet Home Addendum

“I cannot believe you’re late even now,” Tamyra spoke the first lines clearly and loudly into the quiet anticipation of the audience. A table was in the middle of the stage, two glasses of wine set out. Tamyra was wearing a simple black dress with black high heels and she was pacing around, looking at her wrist to check her watch several times before she sat down, took a sip of her drink (not actually moonshine, but some juice she snatched from the farm, she was being profession thank you very much), and then downed the entire thing before she started playing with the glass and started talking.

It started off with a story about how you, her husband as it turned out very quickly, being late from their first date. Late from the very first moment, even now, when their relationship ended, he couldn’t be bothered to show up on time for it.

(You for the husband, never any names mentioned, always you, as if he was there, as if he could hear her complaints and her stories as she remembered a relationship from start to finish.)

From there, she talked about everything - how they met, how they fell in love, what kind of whirlwind romance they had. A proposal after mere six months together and how she felt like the happiest woman on the planet when she walked down the isle and said yes to him.

But no relationship could be perfect, and the conversation - monologue -, turned towards how things started to slowly fall apart, how they got further and further away from each other despite living in the same house, sleeping in the same bed. Becoming strangers to one another while their relationship slowly dwindled apart and here they were now. How loss and death in their lives tore them apart instead of bringing them together. And still, you couldn’t be on time, not even now when it all ended.

The two people - two strong men whom Tamyra swore to secrecy and only actually asked to help the very last minute -, walked up to the stage at that time, carrying a coffin like prop and settling it down to the side of the stage.

You finally arrived.

Late even from your own funeral, no less.

She couldn’t handle it anymore, she reached for the second glass, down that too. The second glass that was placed out more out of habit than anything else. One last glass of wine shared between the two of them, a tradition of theirs that she talked about previously, to remember the good times instead of the bad.

In the final portion of the show, she say her goodbyes and her regrets. Regrets about the marriage, about her play in it falling apart, about why she didn’t do anything to fix things before it was too late, wondering if it would have made saying goodbye easier like that.

And in the end, she said her goodbye. Quiet and emotional, a love and a life lived together, now done and over. He was on a new adventure now, and she would need to find a new way to move on too, but she would always carry him with her.

Lee Je Hoon's Chief Detective 1958 starts today. Can't wait to watch! I enjoyed him in Taxi Driver and really want to watch through his filmography eventually.

Lovely Runner is knocking my socks off! Byeon Wook Seok and Kim Hye Yoon are killing both the comedy and the drama. Wook Seok is the cutest loser in love! The mystery and unexpected twists are fun and interesting. I hope this quality storytelling continues. I'm on the edge of my seat.

I only have 3 episodes left of Love Me Love My Voice which has been wonderful and heartwarming. I love the main romance but the friendships and secondary romances have been given ample time to shine as well. I'm always here a good found family. I really like how the dramatic readings and song perfomances have been carefully woven into the story to further the character development. Definitely recommend.

Now we come to our debrief on The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. Whoa, what a rollercoaster. The first half was interesting with many characters' selfish and dark intentions mixed with a little mystery were set up in contrast to our optimistic, self-sacrificing female lead. However, the second half drowned in major events happening and then being dismissed as if they never happened, multiple secret keepers refusing to tell the secret multiple times an episodes even when asked point blank when the answers could stop so many bad things from happening, and the existential dread I felt about what the big reveal was going to be only for it to completely dismissed. (FYI I found out what I thought was going to be the big reveal IS the actual reveal in the darker Japanese version it's based on.) After episode 14, I wasn't sure I could continue watching the show. But after a night of uneasy sleep, I decided to finish it the next morning on double speed to get through it. I did watch the last 10 minutes at regular speed. While there were some well done things about their relationship in the second half, it couldn't save the show for me even though I went in knowing this was not an HEA. Overall, I was just left feeling angry and exhausted. As a Seo In Guk fan, this was a show I had long wanted to see, just to find out what my opinion on it would be. I'm sad that the SIG fanmeet has been post-poned, hopefully I will be able to make the next date. But this means I feel okay to stop my SIG show binging so I will not be watching Hello Monster anytime soon. I'm actually impressed with how much of SIG's filmography I've already seen (7 shows as a ML, 4 shows as a cameo, and 1 movie). I'm pretty sure it's more than I've seen any other kdrama actor or actress.

After a bad experience at the new dentist yesterday, where the hygienist manhandled my teeth and they tried to upsell me on services, I was in need of a comfort rewatch. I've been thinking alot about Lee Jun Young lately and decided to break out the first thing I ever saw him in, Imitation. I was only going to watch a few favorite parts from an episode or two and ended up binging my favorite parts of most of the series. lol I really hope his upcoming Cinderella romcom with Pyo Ye Jin is going to be good.

I slowly picked Vigilante back up again this week and was excited to see Lee Joon Hyuk's character finally emerge to add a boost of energy and chaos to the story.

Now that I've got some time and the second half of the series has finally dropped, I will continue watching Chae Jong Hyeop's Eye Love You.

My Man is Cupid - 4/10

Right so. I only started to watch this drama because AmazonPrime advertised it to me after an episode of Marry My Husband and uh... let's just say I will not trust anything AmazonPrime recommends to me again! This drama was NAWT good. I mean it wasn't actively infuriating, but it really has nothing to recommend it either.

This show is a weird mix of fantasy romance and like... serial killer crime drama? And the two storylines did NOT mesh well, so the show felt a whole mess. So like, I guess the overarching plot is that hundreds of years ago a love fairy/cupid fell in love with a human and then people died and he and his 3 cupid friends were punished by having to be semi-human until they make enough love matches, I guess? IDK. And now in the current day the human has been reborn. And she is a witness to an abduction that links to a serial killer from 29 years in the past.

The storytelling was super weak. I remain confused about the sequence of events in the first life era. I do not understand exactly what happened when and why between Sang-hyuk and So-hee. Also, I don't understand exactly what the punishment was for the 4 cupids and why like, the other 3 could still form relationships with humans? I thought relationships between humans and fairies were banned? OR like was it ok because they were like... not fully fairies during the course of their punishment? What exactly were the terms of their punishment? WTF is the metamorphosis about? By the time things did sorta get explained (though def not fully) there were only a couple of episodes left and I really didn't care because I was just so frustrated by the confusing viewing experience. And having finished the show, I still could not tell you what the motivations and plans of the god-like characters were.

But honestly, I could forgive the poor worldbuilding if the characters and the romance were well done. But sadly, that was not the case. The female lead was kind of annoying and the leads had no chemistry. If you want me to believe that these character's choices are worth it, you need to make me believe in their love story and this show failed to do so. So yeah while the show wasn't actively bad, not really, it also didn't have anything that made it a fun watch.

There was also a strong incel vibe with one of the supporting cupids, Dong-gu, and his storyline. NO THANK YOUUUUUU. I also need to say that the Joong-ah stuff was creepy as fuuuuuuck. Joong-ah is in HIGH SCHOOL when Sang-hyuk develops feelings for her. Sang-hyuk is centuries old, obvs but I'm not talking about that. His appearance is that of a man in his late 20s and yet like... he has feelings for a high schooler. NO THANK YOU. Shades of the creepiness in Goblin, tbh.
