body (baby), it's too much, my body.
So, by now, we've all seen that photo of Izzy from the next batch of episodes. And, um, I don't know about y'all, but my glasses fogged up big time. And if that was my reaction, imagine what Stede's would be – the man would simply perish.
Anyway, this is a little something that I needed to get out. It's one of the most ridiculous things I've written – for fandom, at least – and I love it.

Stede walked briskly to the rec center, where he was to meet Izzy for his first pirate lesson. After a hectic few weeks, he was looking forward to it.
He stopped at the door of the rec center and took a deep breath to steady himself. “Right,” he muttered to himself. “Time to become a real pirate, Stede Bonnet.” He ignored the slight lisp in his voice and entered the room.
The scene that greeted him stopped him in his tracks. There were candles everywhere. Lit candles. And barrels. And in the middle of it all was Izzy Hands. Shirtless. His back was to him.
Shirtless. Did Stede mention he was shirtless?
Goodness, but he had so many muscles. Stede had never seen so many...rippling cords. Is this what happened to your body when you pulled ropes on a pirate ship all day? Good Lord.
He needed to sit down.
Stede must’ve made a noise because Izzy twirled around gracefully; even with his prosthetic, he was still more poised than Stede could ever hope to be.
“Ah, Bonnet. You’re here.”
Stede’s jaw dropped. If he thought Izzy’s back was impressive, his front was...well.
Let’s just say that Michaelangelo would have a field day.
Indeed, Izzy looked like he was carved from marble. The arms, the abs, which were just the right amount of pronounced, it was all very...arresting. Stede watched as a bead of sweat rolled down Izzy’s clavicle, past his chest — Stede had never put much stock into body hair, but Izzy carried it quite well — over his abs, to —
“Bonnet!”
Stede’s head snapped up, eyes wide as he looked at the other man.
“Y’right?”
“What?” Stede sputtered, huffing out a laugh. “Yes, yes, I’m —” his voice broke, “I’m, I’m, I, I’m fine. Just fine. Dandy. Right as rain, Izzy.”
Izzy’s eyes narrowed. “You’re pink.”
“Am I?”
“And you’re forehead’s sweatier than usual.”
Stede took a moment to dab at his forehead with his sleeve. “It is a bit warm in here, Israel.”
Izzy rolled his eyes and swiftly snuffed out three candles with a swoosh of his sword. Stede’s eyes went wider, and his teeth clenched, and —
Snap!
Izzy turned to him. “What the fuck was that?”
Stede began to speak, but it was garbled. He held out a finger before spitting out his retainer in his hand. “Just my retainer.” He held up the pieces of his broken orthodontia.
“What the fuck is a retainer?”
“It’s um, a device that helps you keep your teeth straight. Kind of like braces.” Izzy stared at him blankly. “Don’t worry about it.”
He looked down at the broken retainer and sighed. He was just getting back in the habit of wearing it, seeing as he left it on the ship by accident amid all the nonsense with the Royal Navy. Sure, it made him lisp and the Badmintons and the other boys at school always bullied him for it, but Stede had the straightest teeth on the seven seas and he was proud of that.
Hopefully, a dentist would be available at the next port. (An orthodontist would be better, but beggars couldn’t be choosers.)
“Bonnet! I don’t have all day!”
Izzy was doing drills with his sword, his muscles moving together, like weeds in the wind. Sweaty, glistening reeds.
On second thought, maybe he should hold off on visiting the dentist for now.

do you have any favorite miraculous ladybug rewrite fics? hope you're doing well ♥
Hmm, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by rewrite. I don't read fics that try to rewrite the whole show "better" because they're inevitably salty and honestly inferior to canon. However, I've read some really great fics that deal with alternate takes on how canon could have gone, especially in the context of certain episodes. (I've previously recced Episode-based Fics and there's some rewrites of the NY Special in my NY Special Adrienette list.)

One-shot. This is an angsty alternate take on how Ephemeral could've gone, really delving into the issues with Ladybug lying to Chat to obtain his identity. There isn't a romantic resolution here, but the ending is hopefully and the fic is really well done.

Chat Noir barred his teeth, and— Were they always that sharp? At least he wasn't growling again. "You are not Ladybug," he snapped.

It was all Alya had to go off of and she really needed to pull this partnership together before the akuma got any worse. She wasn't deluded enough to think that she could do this without Chat Noir.
One-shot. This is an angsty alternate take on Hack-san, really going into the angst of the ladynoir conflict and its impact on Adrien, especially in light of Gabriel's treatment of him. And also how scary it must've been for Alya for him to attack her like that! The fight is pretty much the point of divergence. Nothing's really resolved at the end, but there is a bit of hopefulness.

One-shot. An alternate take on Weredad where Adrien's hearing is just a little bit better, and instead of the ridiculousness we got in canon, we get a different kind of ridiculousness (with an identity reveal and get together!)

One-shot. A Glaciator 2 rewrite where, in practicing her confession on Chat, Marinette tells him that Adrien’s the boy. I really loved Adrien’s reaction and then the end is just perfect.

Based on a tumblr ask: "Ephemeral AU: what if Adrien had thought Ladybug was acting out of character by asking for a reveal, and came to the conclusion that she was a sentimonster sent by Hawkmoth (like in Ladybug) to trick him into revealing his identity?"
AKA: Adrien discovers Shadowmoth's next nefarious scheme, and he ain't having it.
One-shot. This is an Ephemeral rewrite and omggggg it’s HILARIOUS. I seriously could not stop laughing as I was reading it, as it keeps going more and more off the rails.
How Miraculous Should Have Ended by CodenameJD
Inspired by the youtube channel/show How It Should Have Ended, we're going to rewrite the ending of each and every episode of Miraculous.
Sometimes, episodes just miss a few tricks. Sometimes, they're just illogical. And sometimes, episode endings are just bad, wrong, or harmful.
Some new endings will be fun takes, while some will seek to correct those moments that had us all seething.
Multi-chapter. This does get a little salty at times, but mostly it’s just silly and I don’t take it too seriously. It’s just fun! Reading multiple takes on how different scenes in different episodes could have gone, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. I really enjoy these! It’s technically a WIP since it’s ongoing, but there’s no plot, just rewrites of different episodes, and you can pick and choose which episodes you want to read based on your preference.

Music: Sometimes? More often than not I'll have something on, it just depends what I'm writing and why I'm writing as to what it is. I have certain playlists for when I need background noise/no vocals, some that are essentially fic soundtracks, and others that are for certain characters.
Lately I've been trying to force any of the au-gust prompts into being written, and it's led me back to a combination of David Bowie (shocking to no one, long time followers are staring unimpressed going 'yes, yes, the move back to Bowie as fic soundtrack, we've done this before' lmao), Avatar, and Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats. Brief track recs that I've had on repeat lately for each:

there are a million reasons I love this fic. one (albeit unusual) reason is that I’ve never really seen a snowbaz au like this! they’re best friends! they hang out all the time and like stay the night at each other’s flats just because they’re best friends! it’s so damn sweet! I’m actually obsessed with it. cannot recommend enough. I will never get enough of gamp’s writing.

Was wondering if you have some recs for protective caring Peter taking care of stiles? I’m a sucker for the hurt/comfort.
Also I have to tell you I love your blog here and your stories on Ao3 are wonderful. I’ve read so many of them.
I feel like there's a lot of fics that fall under this genre, and there is actually a very specific tag for it but I don't think many people remember to use it, which sucks. I've dug up some that I think fit your parameters tho. Hopefully there are some you haven't read yet. Warning for some that have a darker tone to it, as in yes, Peter is protective and caring but also possessive and not-so-morally-upright about it, but that's, you know, pretty normal.

Stiles lifts his head up - with miraculous ease - and glares at the middle-finger currently cosying up to Peter's black-veined pointer. He feels dangerously close to pouting. He doesn't want to lose the werewolf-mojo, but Peter is kind of right.
Peter heaves a sigh before Stiles can come up with something probably stupid and says, "Would you like a massage, Stiles?"
[And maybe this is where their love story started, or maybe it started with breaking and entering and a few pranks, or maybe it started when they first locked eyes on one another. However it started — here's how it goes.]

Peter growls, rough and low, and drags him inside, shutting the door behind him a little gentler than he'd expect, but then, Peter is always doing things gentler than he'd expect.
He fucking drowned him gentler than he would've expected, and isn't that just... his life in a nutshell.

They always seemed to forget that Stiles was human. In some manners at least. Scott and Derek always went on about how he was too fragile to be helpful. That he was a liability and the weak link of the Pack, but that awareness of his fragility seemed to always disappear when it came to their own aggression.
A story of how Peter notices the way the Pack treats Stiles and does everything he can to step between Stiles and further harm.

SaL anon here friend with a special request!! Since the hiatus is loooong and the holidays are coming up (which my job has interpreted to mean it's time to pile on the assignments which is the reason I've been scarce) it's the perfect time for reading fanfic! I already know my Malex comfort stories/authors (that nonnie_the_individualist is pretty good 😘) but I'm a bit lost in the much more extensive Buddie fic realm. *siiiiiigh* Bestie, I had the highest hopes and best intentions to do this before the holidays but between family, travel, cleaning/reorganizing my disaster pit of a bedroom, and having a brain that's bad (that I'm trying to get back on track but not having much luck with), this sat in my inbox taunting me for....a very long time. Now, I'm not as deep into the 911 fic like I was with RNM back in season 1 and that first hiatus before I had to start aggressively screening everyone and everything (and now it's been ages since I've been able to find motivation to keep up with even fic writers I love 😭) but I HAVE learned how to use and gotten better at remembering the bookmark button on Ao3, so you can check out some additional recs there. This is a Stardust AU that I just read and it's an absolute delight! Stardust is one of my all time favorite movies so seeing characters we know and love being pretty seamlessly woven into this story was so much fun. Definitely a fun time. Great Buddie, bonus Madney, and a Very Tired Athena who has put up with enough nonsense.

This is the Accidental Marriage trope at it's best. The will comes in to play, Buck and Eddie are fully clowning at all times, and it has a soft, sweet ending. Lots of fun, and some good firefam moments too.

This is a very niche AU but it's SO GOOD. Very soft, soothing vibes.

I know everyone loves Leave the Light On which is a presumed dead Eddie fic where Buck is fighting to keep Christopher. It has all the angst of the will ramifications in the event of Eddie's death, all while knowing he's alive and trying to make it home which makes the angst delicious instead of depressing.
But Don't Take The Money is....whooo boy. It's Groundhog day dialed up to 11. Post lawsuit arc time loop and it is...dark, but it's so, so good!

This fic man....It's a WIP but is nearly complete and GOD it's SO GOOD. It is a werewolf AU with injured/skittish Buck being taken in by Certified Soft Dad Eddie. The family vibes are impeccable, and we get a bonus of dealing with canon emotional issues like Eddie's repression of self via his werewolf nature he tries to push down, and Buck's feelings of worthlessness via a toxic, cult-like environment he escaped from. Also, werewolf pup Chris! I adore this fic SO MUCH.
Falling Slowly; Sing Your Melody (I’ll Sing It Loud) by Princessfbi
After a traumatizing home invasion, Bobby Nash decides to hire a bodyguard for his lead singer. Musician!Buck Bodyguard!Eddie
This is another fic where the 911 crew seamlessly folds into new roles. This story is beautiful and one of my favorites.

Leading with the Left: When Buck said he was a "bartender" in "South America" what he actually meant was "stripper" in "Mexico." And when Eddie said, "What's your problem?" what he actually meant was, "Is this about the time you gave me a lap dance?" In other words, there's a few things the 118 doesn't know about Buck. Or Eddie. Or Buck and Eddie's relationship.
This is almost 85k of stripper/post-stripper Buck and it is smutty and hot, but it is also so soft? And there is so much love and pining? Seriously, this one is so, so good.
(Love Is) The Second Oldest Profession: When Buck sees Eddie Diaz, new studio recruit, he thinks he's found the answer to his post-breakup slump. When Eddie meets Buck, he thinks he's found the ticket to a job that'll help him take care of his son. Neither of them think about feelings. This ends up being a miscalculation.
Look. This kind of AU has no business having this many feels and soft moments! It's sexy, but also so much fun and seeing the firefam in this kind of setting is hilarious, but also works so well?! A delight. Also, letmetellyouaboutmyfeels is on this list....several times so definitely another author to look out for!

i would love some book recs! ig i’m not really sure what i want to focus on most? i’d like to try both but my natural instinct is to gravitate more towards TV

I have always considered myself a terrible writer (aka doubt my every written word to the point that I have memories of my parents taking away my eraser as a kid while I did my homework due to my obsessive self editing), so I am game to always read about how to be better at writing stuff. (Ps, this took 10 minutes to write xD)

The two on the left are general, basic screenwriting format and structure books. Most writers swear by them. You'll find Robert's book on almost every screenwriter's bookshelf. It's considered by most (if not all) in the industry as THE seminal book on screenwriting. I personally never even finished it. That book is MASSIVE. There's a ton of stuff I don't agree with, I think it gets too into the weeds on shit it doesn't have too, and it tries to dictate archaic rules that don't need to exist BUT it's part of that "learn the foundations before you break the rules" thing that I think newbies to everything should abide by. I'd been writing for over a decade by the time I got around to reading this so when I stopped I simply knew it wasn't for me because I already had my process and it worked. It could be great for people that are starting out but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, please, the moment anyone starts telling you "your story needs to do something by X page" or "your scenes can only be 2 pages long" tune that shit out. It's why I *fucking loathe* Save The Cat. I think it might have been the worst thing that ever happened to screenwriting lol. If you're telling a good story no one gives a fuck. Story and character first. Those inane rules are part of the shitty, formulaic things that a lot of screenwriters who read these books follow and why most films end up looking and sounding the same. Fuck the "your hero has to be on his journey by page 10 or its a terrible script". I can guarantee you not one of the feature or pilot scripts I've sold in the last 2-2.5 years have followed ANY of these rules. Good writing and unique voice. That's what people are looking for. That's not to say your protagonist should still be fucking around and we don't know what the movie is about by page 50, but you know what I mean. Just don't worry about if they tell you "X needs to happen by page 10" and it's page 15 and it hasn't. No one is going to kill you for it. You're fine. I promise. No one cares if your scene is 5 pages long as long as it's a solid 5 pages that make sense within the story and moves it forward.
The other four are the only books I think you need to read to start writing TV. I have a shit ton of books on TV and also gave up on all of them. These are the only ones I finished and 3/4 of them are SUPER quick reads. You can probably get through those three in an afternoon. That's because writing a pilot is both the easiest and the hardest thing you can do. These books are breaking down the quite simple basics and your writing skills will take over from there. A pilot (and subsequently selling the series) is ultimately about how strong your story, characters, and series concept are because structure wise it's very very straightforward.
You'll have to decide how you prefer to break your pilots and what structure you find easiest to naturally follow. Every writer has their own bag of tricks and trying to imitate someone else's will almost always lead to failure. These are not one size fits all things. It never is with creative shit. Here's what works for me. For hour longs I do teaser and five acts when I'm writing then I take out all the act breaks when I'm done since I write for streamers not broadcast or cable. Having the act breaks there when I'm writing helps keep track of what is happening where/when. Only reason why they're there and why I take them out. I don't want people focusing on them/when they happen when they're reading. For half hours I literally don't do acts. At all. Whatsoever. That's part of the reason why I say follow your gut. I just write 30-40 pages worth of good story and that's it. It particularly helps me because - again - I write for streamers not for broadcast so I don't have to worry about commercial breaks. But if you're trying to write broadcast/cable comedy stuff then it's different and you should absolutely learn half hour acts.
Anywhooooooo, hope any of that rambling helped. That's what works for me and it's a process that has taken me years to have on lock. Each of you should find your own groove.

My (mostly) Destiel Recs #7 - a bounty of whump, angst and mindfuckery
I promised a new rec post - with an emphasis on mindfucks, darker stuff and whump, so here it is! Just a few days later than anticipated as I’m still frantically editing my DCBB fic.
I’ve also been working on organizing my previous recs better on a pinboard, and you can find them (mostly) all here now. It’s still a bit of a work in progress (like everything else in my life). But with the pinboard tagging it’s a lot simpler to search through and keep track of what I’ve read compared to A03′s bookmark system.
Anyway, onward. If you like hurt/comfort, darker themes and plenty of angst (though some of these have some humor too) - especially with beautifully suffering Cas - these fics may be for you.
Buried by Mumble_Bee (18.5k) - Witches capture, “mummify” and bury Castiel alive, and it takes Dean and Sam months to find him. When they do, it's a long road to mental and physical recovery for Cas - and to figure out how to get him to relax enough to let them release the last of the witches’ magic which has kept him in a suspended state of, um, well...leaking grace, shall we say. In a very kinky way. This is a disturbing, nightmarish situation but a great read for Cas!whump lovers. Dean is such a good caretaker and it turns seriously hot—and funny—near the end, as only Mumble_Bee can quite manage.
The rest of my recs below the cut...
Dislocation by 60r3d0m (24.5k) Season 12 canon divergence. After Castiel is banished from the bunker he falls and becomes human and is lost to the Winchester brothers. It takes four hundred and fifty-one days for Sam to find him, and for Cas to learn that Dean is still alive. But there’s something different about Dean, and no one will tell Cas what it is. This is one of those stories meant for a late-night-3am-can't-sleep-need-some-weird-horror-and-angst binge read (I know, I did it myself). The mystery of why Dean is reacting so strongly, and so strangely to Cas takes until near the end to be revealed and it's a fascinating, angsty premise unlike anything I've read before. (I'm not sure I 100% buy into these characters doing some of the things they do in this fic, but for the course of the story I was deeply enraptured by and sold on the premise.)
Everything Is Awesome (series) by strangeandcharm (160k). Dark but satisfying series of 4 fics that take Cas, Dean and Sam on a real emotional and physically rollercoaster. Cas disappears and for 5 years, and Sam and Dean aren’t sure if he’s dead, alive, back in Heaven or what. Turns out he’s been held prisoner by demons using him as a sex slave (because apparently having sex with an angel is a serious buzz for a demon.) When they rescue him, he doesn’t seem to remember his life at all before his imprisonment, and the magical bonds they can’t remove from him require “feeding” in a way that only Dean may be able to satisfy. This is dark and seriously disturbing at times, but also so, so compelling and well-written. The trauma they all deal with is so believable given the circumstances, from Cas’s PTSD (and difficulty sorting out feelings of sex, love and identity) to Dean’s responses as he feels compelled to watch videos of what was done to Cas to be able to find and punish his tormentors - and, to his horror, his body reacts in ways to what he sees that he feels tremendous shame and guilt about. Crowley and Rowena make great appearances and it all makes for a great read in the end.
Ghost Dance by omphalos (51k) This one is fairly angsty for both Dean and Cas, as it’s a caretaker!Cas & hurt!Dean story. Canon divergence at the end of Season 5 where, after Lucifer escapes the cage in Sam's body, Dean has to say yes to Michael in order to save the world. Sam is dead and Dean is left mentally broken by the experience, taking years before he can begin to speak and take care of himself again. Cas is his only companion and caretaker, in the small protected country home he's kept Dean in all this time. Eventually, slowly, Dean begins to remember what happened, and those memories may destroy him all over again. This is disturbing, sad, but also beautiful and one of those fics to think about long after you’re done reading it.
Hallelujah! Noël! Be it Heaven or Hell by Enochian Things (20k) - How can I bribe this author to write more SPN fic? I so, so would because I just love their characterizations and story telling so much. In this Season 9 AU (after Cas has stolen grace to get his mojo back), a holiday celebration loosens Dean & Cas up enough that Cas takes a chance with Dean...who then completely freaks out. Despondent that he’s ruined their relationship with his misjudgment, Cas decides the only thing for him to do is to complete the Trials that Sam couldn’t. This is just a wonderfully paced and plotted story with the right amount of angst, h/c, pining and tension to make me happy.
He Can't Sleep by 60r3d0m (18.9k) Another disturbing but compelling fic by the same author as “Dislocation” recced above. It’s an alternative take on Lucifer possessing Cas, where it takes two years to kick him out and Cas is an absolute mess in the aftermath. Specifically, he is almost completely mute when around Dean, yet will talk sparingly with Sam. Dean does all he can to provide comfort and take care of him, but for all he tries it just doesn't seem to be enough. Cas falls from grace, Cas leaves, Cas finally comes back but a hunt gone wrong leaves him in even worse condition than before. This is one of those angst/whump fests of a fic that certainly can satisfy an itch and I was compelled to read it all in one sitting. As with some others by this author the characterizations don't always 100% jive for me but it's a powerful and painful idea - and plausible if Lucifer had been riding Cas for that long of a period of time.
Holy Fire by cenotaphy (40.9k) Canon-divergent from the end of Season 11. Cas is captured and tortured by a demon out for the throne of Hell and while Cas is struggling to feel like himself again after Lucifer has been cast out. In some ways this is a standard rescue-mission fic, but the selling point for me is more Cas's internal struggles of self-worth—and also an interesting point on whether Dean still sees "him" versus seeing Lucifer now.
Hummingbirds by strangeandcharm (25k) Alternative Season 6 fic. Raphael captures Dean and uses him as bait to get Castiel. He then decides to punish Cas and make an example of him by taking Cas's wings. In a desperate move, Cas kisses Dean and seemingly transfers a significant amount of his grace to Dean to hold while he heals (and regrows his wings). Balthazar has a place to keep them both safe in the meantime, but that means neither can leave his warded luxury condo—and meanwhile, Cas has lost his ability to communicate. Great Cas!whump and h/c as Dean struggles with both being cooped up and his uncertain feelings for Cas.
i am covered in skin - angelfishofthelord (5k) Cas is struggling to deal with being rescued from the Empty, again, and his skin is marked with the number of angels he killed in the past. In order to remove the mark, he will have to honor their memories. Lovely little TFW 2.0 genfic from an author who can always bring on the Cas angst and hurt so well!
It's gettin' dark, too dark to see by Enochian Things (18k) - Another deliciously angsty Season 9 canon divergence by this author for those who love some human!Cas hurt and angst. Kicked out of the bunker, Cas ends up catching pneumonia before Dean comes to his senses and goes out to find him. Cas is rightfully pissed off at Dean and stubborn in a wonderfully in-character way about accepting any help. This one hurts and ends on a hopeful-yet-sad note, but I did love it so much.
i fold in half so easily by AreYouReady (4.8k) A fascinating and ultimately creepy take on Cas coming back from the Empty and how the scars he, Dean and Sam all carry with them could make it a bit difficult for a true happy ever after. Specifically, Cas is grieving Jack, and while he thinks he can convince himself things are good with Dean there's something very wrong about it as well. One of those fics to chew on long after reading it.
Small Violences (series) by ShastaFirecracker (2 works, 12k total). This is an emotionally complex and satisfying take on Dean, Cas, their communication troubles and feelings in an alternative season 9. In the first fic, a “fallen, human Castiel comes to Dean's motel room in the night, barely moving, barely breathing, not daring to break the silence, not sure if he dares to touch.” In the second fic, six months have passed since they’ve first had sex and neither has spoken of it since. Meanwhile, Sam has had enough of their bullshit. Cas's frustration comes out in some pretty violent sex until Dean shows him it doesn't have to be like that.
Twenty Dollars by NorthernSparrow (15k) You can never go wrong with NorthernSparrow if you want some good Cas whump and angst. Season 9 canon divergence; after being fired from his job at the Gas n Sip, Cas turns to prostitution as the only way to make the money he needs to survive. A very raw and painful but good read - Cas is very believable here, the reunion with Dean in the end gives me all the feels.
The Unmaking by angelfishofthelord (33k) Alternative Season 15, genfic. Chuck starts "unmaking" the angels until Cas believes he is the only one left—and he almost gets killed in the process, too. But they end up finding one other survivor still in Heaven, and TFW 2.0 makes plans on how they can trap Chuck for good - or convince Amara to "unmake" her sibling. This is a great alternative take on how Season 15 could have gone, and the original angel character is totally awesome...I'd read so much more about her!

shiny little corners - kuinka: i think i've brought this album up enough that you might've already heard of it (plus i think all mine was the sotd for like. two weeks) but i will take the opportunity to gush! it's like. pastel folk. maybe i'm just saying that cause i'm looking at the album cover right now but the sound is very bright and refreshing for the folk scene and according to my sister who saw them live almost every member of the band has a song with lead vocals which leads to some songs that i like better than others in terms of singing n stuff but it's such a cool arrangement! not to mention there's like. rock ukulele. if that's not tempting idk what is. my favorite tracks are all mine and ny, la :D
tear jerky - sparky deathcap: (as far as i know this ep isn't out on any streaming services so the link's just to a yt playlist!) ok so. sparky deathcap. take like every sound at once and make it british and kinda confusing but also this is probably one of my favorite things ever created. it's pretty short (5 tracks technically, i added cosmic love infection because i like it) and most everyone who knows it knows it because they watched a wilbur soot stream before december 11th 2020 but it is certainly sounds. i'd love to know how many instruments were used to make it. i think the best way to describe the sound is if jake ewald started slaughter beach, dog when he was still in modern baseball and british. that is a bad comparison but alas. surely one of the most eps ever
home video - lucy dacus: i am so late to the lucy dacus scene but! ever since i listened to thumbs i've had the innate need to tell everyone i know about it! hot & heavy is such a good album opener and then it just goes into christine which is so. sapphic and sad and up until hearing this album i only knew lucy dacus from boygenius and did not realize how much i loved her voice from listening to that band wowie! anyways whenever i start ending sentences with exclamation marks i feel weird going back to periods so ignore how excited i seem about this incredibly sad album! thumbs is one of the best songs ever! joins the holy trilogy of songs about dad murder (alongside father by the front bottoms and kyoto by phoebe bridgers)! again the exclamation marks are throwing me off but i'm dealing with it!
let's get out of this country - camera obscura: this is a last minute addition but when i saw ur ask about agreeing with the sotd (piazza, new york catcher) i remembered camera obscura existed bc i discovered this album through itune's 'more like dear catastrophe waitress' this contributes nothing to the listening experience but i thought it was fitting and i've only listened through this album like twice so i don't have much to say about it but i do really like lloyd, i'm ready to be heartbroken which i'm pretty sure went the 2006 equivalent of viral but i was too busy being a youngin to notice Anyways that song bangs this is more of an anecdote than a rec but i'm trying to see how far i can take this run-on sentence

Hi sorry to bother you but recently you have mentioned that you are finally happy with your skin after years of problem skin. I was just curious what u did to get results? I've suffered forever and nothing I do and I swear I've tried it all has helped. Did u try something new, change some things any information u feel like passing on would be appreciated. Thanks so much love your blog your so real and refreshing I love that u just do you with pride its inspiring.
First of all, NEVER A BOTHER. I love helping people and discussing skin and hair and makeup. I love it and feel like it is so important to helping people with self esteem and confidence and just feeling okay in their own bodies. It really carries over to all aspects of your life, success at work and school and relationships. Self love is SO important and one of the ways I love myself is taking care of my skin and taking time for makeup and hair I love.
Secondly, before I get to specifics, thank you so so much. I’ve said before that being real on here regardless of consequences or how people see me is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING and it makes my heart melt that someone admires that. Like you seriously could not pay me a greater compliment than that Nonnie dear.
Okay now to the details. This is LONG so buckle up, I’ll get on my computer and add a read more.
I’ve had bad skin since I was like 11 years old. I actually scrubbed my chin so hard one time in frustration I caused a terrible wound that ended up getting infected and required medical intervention. Things were serious.
I tried EVERYTHING. Prescriptions, expensive skin care systems, oil based cleansing methods, home folk remedies that were probably terribly damaging. Everything.
I also pick at my face. I don’t have dermotillomania or anything that severe but any non smooth area gets picked and prodded until it’s just a mess and scabs. Those take forever to clear up and most of my concerns now are hyperpigmentation from old marks. Actually, a lot of “bad skin” I see on people, especially over 20, isn’t a lot of new blemishes but old stuff that hasn’t faded. Which I’ll address below.
What really changed for me was behavior modification, mindfulness, and just getting educated about what these products I was putting on my skin did, how my skin functions, really paying attention to MY skin and ignoring advertisements and hype.
I can’t tell you what products to use because that’s completely dependent on your skin type and sensitivity, but r/skincareaddiction on Reddit has great holy grail product recs and I tailored them to my needs. Reddit is a cesspool a lot of the time but that sub is full of wonderful scientifically minded people who want to help.
The first thing I recommend is stop touching your face. It’s super hard, like ridiculously so, but I try to only touch my face when I’m doing my makeup or when I’m actually cleansing and even then I keep it brief. If I catch myself touching my face I actually will reprimand myself, sometimes out loud. It took me months to stop.
Use a clean pillow case. Like seriously, life changing. I put a soft t-shirt on mine and I get four days with that (front, back, inside front, inside back) and two more days of front and back of the pillowcase itself, wash on Sundays start all over. It’s part of my bedtime routine. I use an old shirt and marked it with the days of the week because I like systems.
Drink lots of water. A ton. I’m chronically bad about hydration, and I’ve taken steps to make sure I keep this up. This helps with everything not just skin. I carry my water with me everywhere in a Tervis Tumblr and sip at it all day through a straw. I have one (sometimes two) cup of coffee a day now and only water after that.
Stop physically exfoliating and scrubbing. Anything with harsh scrubs, microbeads, abrasive qualities etc is tearing up your skin even though you can’t see it. I know people swear by that spinny brush thing but I’m terrified of it now.Same thing with abrasive makeup remover wipes. I use micellar water and Ponds Cream to remove makeup.
The abrasive stuff allows bacteria and nastiness to get into these little microtears and make things way worse. It can also mess with your skin’s moisture barrier which sends oil production into overdrive and also makes things worse. When I wash my face I use the very tips of my fingers only, I don’t scrub and I use cool water never hot. I actually stopped using really hot water in the shower for hair and skin. If your interested I use the Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser.
Chemical exfoliants, though they have a scary name, are much better and can address issues like hyperpigmentation from left over acne, blackheads and sebaceous filaments (those black dots on your chin and nose that aren’t actually black heads). You have to find what works for you but I use Stridex Pads for a BHA and a glycolic acid for an AHA. I’m also on week 3 of a Lactic Acid chemical peel. The chemical exfoliation and the peel has done wonders to fade the hyperpigmentation from my acne and clear up those stubborn red marks from old breakouts. It’s now a critical step in my routine.
Listen to YOUR skin. My routine requires I only use the Stridex pads every third day or so, my skin is really sensitive and anything more is too much. I also don’t use any other acid for two days before my chemical peel day. These are just examples, your routine depends on your skin, but introduce products slowly, see how they react to your skin, patch test, look for problems like dryness or breakouts and adjust accordingly.
I assess my skin everyday because it changes with the weather and other factors. If I have dryness I back off on harsher things like the chemical exfoliants and up the moisturizer. If it’s oily I go lighter in the moisture and blot or switch to a matte primer. If it’s irritated or super red I remove anything new I’ve introduced and go back to just gentle cleansing and moisturizer.
Just take a few minutes everyday to really look at your skin and see what’s up.
It’s a marathon not a sprint and it can take months and months.
Sometimes changing your routine can cause your skin to “purge” and go into overdrive. This is hard because you don’t know if it’s the product or not, my advice is don’t introduce too many things at once and give each product a few weeks to settle in before giving up on it unless it hurts/burns/causes an allergic reaction.
Check out ingredients and labels. Stay away from alcohols and fragrances, look for products that are non-comodegenic though that’s not a regulated term and even really terrible products can be labeled that. Read reviews and look at recs. Try not to get hair product that have alcohols in them like hairspray on your face.
Sometimes it’s dietary. It wasn’t for me, but some people swear when they cut out dairy or went vegan their skin cleared up. I personally try to eat whole, homemade non processed foods when I’m really sticking to my guns. Today I had a cheeseburger and a bunch of fried things at a restaurant. Sometimes you get off track or want a treat, it’s cool.
Take off all your makeup. Every night. I used to be really bad about this but I now do it religiously. It’s actually a very calming part of my day my skin care routine. I mentioned before but I use Micellar water or Ponds Cold Cream so I’m not rubbing and tugging. If I have really stubborn makeup I’ll use a soft microfiber cloth but I try to be as gentle as possible when I do. I use a new cloth each day
I don’t touch my face with my phone. Phones are gross. I rarely talk on the phone but when I do I use headphones, my car speakers, or speaker, it does not touch my face ever.
Moisturize! Omg. Washing your face and using products messes with your skin’s natural moisture so you have to replace it, otherwise your skin will go into oil over drive and you start all over. You can cleanse your face with any product in the world but if you don’t moisturize you probably won’t get any results. I use the Cerave in the white and blue tub and I also have a serum from Silk Naturals (the super serum).
Sunscreen is your friend. It’s hard to find one though that works with your skin and your makeup so be open to trying a few. It essential though especially if you are using retinoids or chemical exfoliants, or topicals like benzoyl peroxide (which I use for spot treatments). I tried the Cerave one last week and personally didn’t like it, I’m trying a Neutrogena next. Sun can also increase hyperpigmentation and make it stick around because it’s caused by melanin, so even if you are chemically exfoliating if you expose your skin to the sun you won’t do any good.
My routine goes something like this if you want specifics:
Remove makeup using Ponds or Micellar water.
Wash face with gentle cleanser, fingertips only, less than 30 seconds of touching for my whole face (cannot stress enough how little I touch my face).
Let that dry naturally. I don’t use a towel per face touching. (I usually do this whole routine shirtless cause water everywhere).
Then I use one of my chemical exfoliants (Stridex or Glycolic) depending on the day. I let this dry on my face and like marinate for at least 5 minutes but I’m doing other stuff so it can be awhile. Some days I don’t do this depending on what’s going on with my skin.
Spot treat with benzoyl peroxide. I try to use a lower percentage but most are 10%. It stains clothes, so again with the shirtless. I put it on problem spots only because it’s super drying.
Then I use my serum. Again let this kinda hang out to absorb into the skin.
Then moisturizer.
That’s nighttime. Morning is much less involved. Wash face in shower, spot treat, moisturize, sunscreen.
Do what works for YOU though, you really have to learn your skin and be mindful of it. Treat it gently, be nice to it, don’t slather it with things that make it mad, don’t scrub it with things that tear it, hydrate it and protect it.
Also, be diligent. It seems like a lot of work but it’s really not when you do it everyday, it’s just a part of your day and I do other things while I do it.
I really feel like it’s been life changing getting this under control and when your face is like 90+% awesome you don’t mind new blemishes as much. I have two spots on my face right now and I’m totally chill about them because the rest of it looks so fabulous they aren’t as noticeable. When your entire face is covered in marks though new stuff just adds to the noise and seems way worse. Individual spots are also a lot easier to conceal.

the mall didn't burn down entirely (like from the outside it looked fine). the ventilation system caught fire so it was more internal—ceilings and all that. covered things with soot(?) and ashes so the entire mall was closed for nearly 2 years. and hey, i've experienced a school fire too back when i was younger. i, too, thought it was nothing but a fire drill until i saw the charred remains of the buildings behind our school : D thankfully, no one died.
the new nct track is for a samsung commercial AHAHA it's funny because nearly everyone uses apple TT_TT and the mv screams neo culture tech tho (well as it should lmao). yes, i was talking about that part in hot sauce but yes, it grew on me too.
ateez really know how to do a performance. they put the standard so high for me when it came to performing. their facial expressions and overall stage presence just impresses me. it's been a while since i've seen idols draw me to them by those standards.

oof the pd48 scandal is extremely complicated. to condense it in a few statements: all of the girls' rankings have been rigged since the very beginning and it was rumored that they already had their end group before the show even started. it was like this for pf48 and pdx101 (group x1) which was why x1 disbanded within a month of debuting, and izone were on hiatus for like 4 months. im not the best at explaining stuff like this haha, but i think you get it. you can check out yt or search up 'pd48 scandal', a ton of articles and videos. as for new groups, nothing has been made clear yet. theyve only made instagram handles for now and appeared on variety shows haha. as for acting career, hyewon was supposed to do acting but was forced to join pd48 so maybe she'll continue acting afterwards? nothing is confirmed yet!
