I can't stop thinking about how Arcane's version of Jinx and Qiyana would be literally the worst of best friends, who aren't friends at all because they're similar enough to annoy each other like crazy. They're both just different enough that neither could verbalize immediately why they would irritate each other (outside of the personality clash), and it might put them more on guard with each other then they already would be. Part of my reasoning is because they've both got mean girl energy and terrorize Piltovans (for both similar and slightly different reasons). And then there's just another part where have both never felt fully secure in their place in the world and with the people that are supposed to take care of them (not the exact same situation). This insecurity mixes with both Jinx and Qiyana's own innate personalities that drives them both to demand to be seen, heard, and valued and thus seize control extreme ways.
Maybe I'll have more to say later.

Piltover is the problem (*Arcane S1 spoilers*)
Throughout Arcane, Jinx is torn between Vi's "Powder", and Silco's "Jinx". Both love her, but neither accept who she is until Silco's final realistion where he switches from "Jinx is perfect" to "You're perfect."
Something he was desperate to hear from Vander, who gives up on Silco, betrays him and leaves him for dead thinking he doesn't have the capacity to change. But Silco proves him wrong: "Is there anything so undoing as a daughter". Jinx did what Vander couldn't. Gave him something else to believe in. Focussed that anger and injustice.
And Silco did it. He paved the way for peace. And had a good argument for not handing in Jinx for the murder of a couple of guards when Piltover has been systematically murdering hundreds of children and adults alike in the mines etc.. Oh, but it wasn't them directly, so doesn't count? No. Their inaction was what pulled the trigger. And Jayce doesn't even consider being held accountable for the murder of that boy (again, irregardless of all the out-of-sight so out-of-mind deaths). If brokering peace is enough for him, it should be enough for Jinx and Silco too, particularly when Piltover's body count is so much higher.
When it comes down to it, Piltover are the worst kind of abuser. They're the government who acts all nice and shiny and righteous while quietly enforcing child labour, enabling destruction of the environment, gas-lighting anyone who speaks against them, and promoting an unsustainable and lavish lifestyle based on self-interest at the expense of others. The quiet, deep-rooted, insidious evil that points it's finger at any opposers screaming "look, big bad thing threatening our civilised way of life!"
And Vander and Vi are not the "good guys" either. They're another kind of toxic. The "normal" people with a saviour complex who don't understand/accept anyone different, and part of what pushed Silco and Jinx over the edge (because, yes, Silco and Jinx have crossed a line, there is no excusing that). Neither are the Firelights necessarily the "good guys". They are so focussed on infighting in Zaun that they seem to have forgotten about the root cause of their problems. You know, Piltover? The people who have been quietly murdering your families and loved ones for the past X number of years??? Jeez. Remember the bigger picture guys.
Now, we may have been robbed of the "Silco figuring out how to properly dad" in Season 2 as it doesn't fit into Riots universe (looking at you, AO3), but I can only hope it doesn't turn into the "Vi fixes Jinx" show. Jinx doesn't need fixing. She needs people to accept who she is, and access to mental health care so she can focus that brilliance into productive things. People can be not okay but still valid. Yes, Silco was a "bad guy", but he was also a product of Piltover's exploitation, suppression and abuse (hello? Can we address this please?), as well as Vander's betrayal. He was very deliberate in his cruelty. It all had a purpose. Zaun needed someone to step up as nothing else was working (hello Jinx). Was it the right thing to do? Morally, no. But was it the lesser evil that would overall result in the fewest deaths? Who knows.
The key takeaway for me is that Runeterra DESPERATELY needs access to good quality, free mental health services (as do we all). Also, the world could also come a long way if we a) try to be nicer to each other and b) take a closer look at those really in power ('cos there is a whole lotta grey out there).
But that's how I see it. And I think one of the great things this show has done has sparked these discussions on acceptance, equality, mental health etc. It's okay to not be okay. You're not alone, so just be nice to each other. We're all on this lump of space rock together, and for anyone out there who feels lost, I'm sending all the love and hugs in the universe💜
And yeah, watch this show. It's perfect.

Would you mind dropping some thoughts about yandere!Silco?
Oh dear, Silco the Conundrum.
I honestly think this fits Silco perfectly.
Silco has always been loved starved. Orphan. He's had to claw his way through shit for everything. He doesn't trust easily if at all.
I think he might have become obsessed with Vander in a way. I can see him as being bisexual. Now, whether he's fully acted on his desires, that can be debated.
In one way, I think Silco saw Vander as the kind of man he wanted to be. Big, braun, respected, lethal, etc. They become brothers and while Vander kept the top spot, everything was okay in this relationship. But, sooner or later, Silco gets tired of playing second fiddle OR start questioning the man he looked up to. You put someone on a pedestal so high, they're going to fall.
Silco was willing to sacrifice himself for the cause and expected others around him to be the same. Willing to do anything to attain that goal.
Post drowning, Silco still loves his friend and maybe hopes he'll see the light but he will sacrifice Vander or anyone else if he as to. He still loves Vander in a way that he believes he can still 'change' him. If not, he'll use him because he can't let it go.
Letting shit go, in not in Silco's wheelhouse. Even though he tells Jinx to do that, he obviously has never gotten over his own betrayal. Everything he's become has stemmed from that.
On the romantic partner side of things, he can be very much the same.
Silco is the opitome of possessive and jealous over someone he cares about.
He's more than happy to kill Jinx's only sister to keep his daughter.
If he cares about you? Yup, same.
It will have taken some time and effort on your part to get close to him. If you managed that, then you should know him by now and that if you're still game, you must know how he operates.
He doesn't show affection often. It might be something very little like a glance or a touch. A super soft drag of his finger along your arm.
Praising a job well done (chances are you work for him or in league with him in some way). He appreciates hardwork, dedication and honesty. However, your honesty better be in line with his views. He can accept your opinion as long as it's not in contrast to who and what he is.
He won't say "I love you", rather saying "I need or want you" instead. But don't mistake those words for lacking emotion. He means it.
Will he kill everyone and everything to keep you? Yes. Will he sacrifice himself to save you? Yes, but he will do everything in his power to not have to do that if possible. He will also let you know that if you do anything stupid to put him at risk, you're in big trouble. Plus, he will remind you constantly that he saved your sorry ass.
You're in debted to him forever. He doesn't take that shit lightly.
Silco has a great capacity to love but it is toxic. He is broken emotionally and pyschologically. He can go from one extreme to the other.
He might surprise you when he's very tender. Then he can be straight up violent in his passion and own needs. He has so much built up stress and emotion and unfortunately it comes out when it feels like it and it could be you or any other poor soul on the receiving end.
That could be in the form of an argument over something very trivial or seriously rough sex that he won't apologize for afterwards, even if he feels he went too far.
He could softly caress you while you're sleeping, letting his tender and vulnerable side open up when no one is watching. He cares but he tries so hard not to show it. If he cares, that could be seen as a weakness.
God forbid someone tries to hurt you. They are dead. No one touches someone he cares about. He won't leave it to Sevika or someone else to carry out. Nope. He will be very hands on and not with a gun. He will take his damn time.
You go after him or something/one he cares about, he will take out everything in return. He will burn you, your family, business, everything to the ground.
Very posssessive and jealous. Silco has always felt inferior in some way. He was always in Vander's shadow and in some ways he covers it up by being ice cold.
So, if you are tender with him he might reject it at first. He's not used to it, can't comprehend someone would be like that with him, could love him for him. Touched starved is an understatement.
Don't be flippant or coy with him. He doesn't want to play those games. Don't flirt with others. Once he decides you're his, you belong to him whether you know it or not.
Don't give him any reason to mistrust you. Once you've earned his trust and respect, it's even harder to keep.
He might hurt you first to prevent from him being hurt (ever again). Don't give him reason to suspect anything.
He might lock you in your room for your own protection/good...and who knows what that might mean and why.
Ultimately, he is in control at all times. He might lose it in a moment of lust or tenderness but it is only for a moment.

Fall writing challenge
This is the first piece for a little writing challenge I make with some authors friends. I’m going to post these a little irregularly, but there are going to be some seasonal fics ☺️🥰.
Thanks go out to @silcoitus, @beardedladyqueen, @fantadym for beta reading and giving me tips. You’re the best 😘🥹 *smooches*
[Silco x OC] [Silco x female character] [fall season in the Undercity] [fluffy Silco]
TW: [Seasonal depression] [loneliness]
“When you’re near me…” - One shot
Fall is always a gloomy time in the Undercity. The suntime in Piltover is short and barely even reaches the depth of the Undercity.
This time of year does something with Silco. It makes him grumpy, quick to anger and over all distracted. In some years, a seasonal depression hits him during this time and the already gloomy atmosphere around him becomes an even darker shadow over him.
Even Jinx notices the pain in his eyes, but knows she can’t do anything to help him or better his mood.
He barely sleeps on those nights, always turning and tossing from side to side - reliving the dreadful day that Vander disfigured his face and changed his life forever.
But there is hope in this darkness.
You.
You have been with him since he was a young man in the rebellion. You cared for him when he came home - soaked in blood and toxic river water. You gave him a home in your heart when he had nothing.
He was not a man of many words that time, but your presence soothed his heart and soul… back then… and still to this day. During his seasonal depression, he needed you near him to actually get to sleep peacefully and sometimes, when the door to his office is locked shut, he needed your affection and affirmations during the daytime. Sometimes, you had wild sex and others, you just quietly sat in his lap with his arms around you and his head resting on your scalp.
But now… now you’re gone… for a while now. Away from him in order to do important contracts for him in Piltover.
Everyday you’re not with him is like physical torture for him. He needs you in these times more than anything…
Lost in the dark abyss of his own great mind, he sits at his desk bent over papers in an attempt to find a way to get back to work and into a rhythm.
Suddenly, there's a commotion outside his office door and just a moment later Jinx bursts in - her whole face is a firework of emotions. “MOMMY’S BACK!!!! MOMMY'S BACK!!”
Then, a little female chuckle as his beautiful woman ascends the stairs to his office. His face lights up a bit and he rises from his chair to meet her halfway.
________
You immediately notice the dark circles on your longtime boyfriend's face and you know what pain he is in.
His arms wind around you - pressing your body against his and nuzzling his head against your neck. A relieved hum leaves his chest.
One of your hands crawls into his hair, massaging his scalp, while your other strokes his back up and down.
“It’s one of those years, huh…” you note and he nods in your embrace.
“This time without you… it was painful. I’m very glad you’re back - within my reach,” he says and you can feel how his body slowly slouches against you - the insomnia of the past two weeks catching up with him.
“Then get on the couch, dearest. I'll be back very soon. I’ll get something to get your mood steady." You start walking out the door. Your head is already buzzing with the things you want to prepare for Silco and Jinx when you feel a desperate grip on your arm.
“Don’t go again…” Silco's voice is gentle but firm in your ear. You feel the hurt in his voice and it breaks you.
Your other hand wanders over his and presses it softly. Your mind is racing now on what best to do. You know he hasn’t eaten in the days you were away, so you need to feed him somehow. Then you get the idea:
“Then come with me…” you smile over your shoulder “… I bet you and Jinx are starving - so let’s prepare ourselves some yummy food.”
You take Silco's hand and he follows you willingly into your personal kitchen. You let go off his hand and walk over to the fridge, eagerly searching your mind for a suitable recipe and the fridge for the ingredients. Out of the corner of your eye, you see Silco standing in the place you left him as he looks absently at the floor. You take all the ingredients out and unfortunately overload your arms.
“Could you… would you mind helping me, dearest?” you say in an attempt to get his attention.
He immediately looks up and sprints to you , getting most of the things off you and onto the table in the middle of the kitchen.
Once everything is on the table, you pull him close into a kiss, your arms winding around his neck. Both of you indulge in this kiss for a rather long time.
When both of you couldn’t breathe anymore, you keep your arms crossed around his neck and lean your head to him.
“Come on now, let’s get my two favorite Halloween monsters fed. I thought of pumpkin cream soup and some jack-o-lantern muffins - to fit the seasonal food schedule. Is that fine for you?” You smile and he spins you around till your back is bent over the table.
“Oh I’d love that - need a hand, my little bat?” He finally has his signature smile back.
“Oh - love to, my dear vampire.”
“Then maybe I suck you dry after this cooking session and after dinner…”
“Woe me… I might need to take my time with dinner then to make it extra tasty.”
“Like you could create something that’s not tasty.”
And so you start preparing the meal for all three of you with Silco's help. Together, you cut the vegetables into small pieces. Midway, Silco gets rid of his vest and rolls up his sleeves. When his hands are not occupied cutting or stirring - they are constantly on you instead. His lips would graze your neck and he’d make little hums of pleasure.
This continues until the meal is prepared. You call for Jinx and the three of you have a great dinner together. The little Jinx enjoys the Jack-O-Lantern muffins the most, making cheerful noises when she finishes one and asks for the next.
Silco enjoys the soup most, together with a nice glass of whiskey.
After that, Jinx storms off again to work on a new invention, which leaves the cleaning to Silco and you.
“It was lovely, dearest. Your cooking never disappoints,” Silco states while drying the last bowls.
You smile, satisfied with his answer.
“Feeling better now?”
“The only thing that would round this lovely evening up, would be you and me and the comfort of our bed, behind closed doors...” his hands are on your hips again and he nibbles on your neck.
“… after all I promised to suck you dry.”

Do you have any soft sevika hc’s? I’m really missing her rn. I want her to wrap me up with her cloak in her big strong arms and tell me everything’s gonna be ok.
Same, anon, same. Sev's a big softie
If you two are at the poker table you may get a little jealous when she converses with other people and not you. She'll notice when you get quiet and will kiss your neck every now and then to show she's still thinking of you. Maybe she'll give you a hickey and then angle her head so her neck's on display for you. "Give me one, baby."
The big scary lady has allergies. Y'all go to Piltover for something and she's exposed to all this plant life you can't find in The Undercity.
Her voice will get stuffy and she'll be sneezing in between threatening people. Her sneezes are fucking violent, too.
It's the fifth time she's sneezed in a minute. You drop the feigned obliviousness and sigh, turning to her with an odd look. "What the hell is wrong with you?" "This place is fucking toxic." Her garbled words are followed by sniffles. You look around at the clear air, infrastructure that isn't covered in rust or human waste, and the beautiful plants that would never have a chance in the Undercity. "This place... is toxic." The disbelieving statement is repeated slowly with a dramatic gesture. You're pierced with a glare that isn't as threatening when her eyes are teary and her nose is red. "Do you think they did something to the air? Is it poison?" She starts throwing accusations around of them trying to sabotage the meeting. "I'm fine?"
(WIP) Sevika has a crush on the local healer (you). When she visits and finds you overwhelmed one day, she'll offer her services. You try to refuse but she insists (won't take no for an answer). So you cave and set her up a little area in the backroom where she can help the patients with the less severe injuries
Nurse Sevika has the worst bedside manner. A patient will come in with something broken and she won't say a word to them before snapping it back into place. "Next."
If they don't have payment, she is retracting her services.
After hearing the complaints, you go to scold Sevika. "Someone didn't have money so you rebroke his finger? Two of them?" "The second was for wasting my time."
She thinks you're too soft and will not let anyone take advantage of you
Someone's trying to rip you off at the market? Her glare will make them half their amount
Sevika's a flirt. She'll lean against the wall/ a doorway and just watch you do a menial task.
Arms wrapped around your middle, halting the scrubbing of a whiskey glass. A smile creeps across your face as she lightly sways with you. "There's a sight I like to see after work."
You're cold? You'll soon be swaddled in her cloak, warmed by the hands running up and down your sides to get some heat back in them.
Someone made you cry? They're already dead before they could. She's sneaky too, if you don't want to tell her who it was, she's not above tricking you to get the information she wants. She's good at interrogating people (it's almost like it's her job wow)
A thumb is rubbing soft circles into your thigh. She's unusually soft with you, trying to coax a name from your lips. Sevika no longer puts up with you trying to hide your teary face from her and a palm is glued to your cheek, having you look into those piercing eyes. "Name." "Sev, no." "Name." You only response are sniffles and she sighs, seemingly dropping it for now. "Okay. Do I need to pick up any work for you?" "Probably, I still had a bunch of paperwork left to do-shit." "Okay so you were at work. A coworker then? Was it Mark?"
The day before your birthday she's going straight to Silco, informing him about how she won't be available for any jobs.
There's no point in arguing once he realizes it's for you. He has to hit her with "Understandable, have a nice day."
Speaking of Silco, he treats you with the utmost respect because he's honestly a little scared of Sevika
It's a hot day in Zaun and the AC breaks. Both of you sleep in underwear and nothing else.
You tried to wear one of her shirts but she pulls it off you. "Nope. Uh-uh. Too hot for that shit."
After it's off, she'll pick you up and put you on top of her because that's how she's used to sleeping. When she realizes it's too hot she'll sigh and roll you off of her. She'll be irritated because she's not used to sleeping without you cuddled up to her.
She'll probably go fix the damn AC herself. (Edit: Sweaty Sevika with sleep tousled hair, in boxers and a sports bra working on the AC unit. Her muscles flexing whenever she uses tools. You sitting there completely useless, watching her work)
She’s the designated bug killer. If you’re afraid of them but don’t want to harm them, you’ll tell her to put them outside from your place on the couch, feet lifted off the ground and not letting the creature out of your sight. She’ll oblige, of course, and grumble about it. But if you’re not looking/haven’t noticed it yet, she’ll kill it to avoid the trip. When you notice and are sad about it being dead, she’ll make up some bullshit about “it was probably already dying” and “it came in here because it knows it’s a safe place to be put to rest”
When Sevika hears your stomach growl, food is immediately put in front of you. You eat half and go to wrap yours up, she’ll unwrap it and put it right back in front of you if she decides you need more.
Sevika will occasionally stop by the florist and get you flowers when coming home from work. Definitely expect some if you had an argument. She wouldn't know how to apologize and the brothel workers will tell her flowers work like a charm, so that's her go to.
Sevika's love language are acts of service. She's always working for someone, so she does enjoy it when you serve her. But occasionally she'll fill your drink, wipe off your seat before you sit, hold open doors, grab your hand when you're walking the last few steps down the stairs

What do you think about Arcane's politics in general? Do you feel like it pulled its punches in depicting the council's cruelty against the undercity? Or that there was an imbalance in how topsiders' cruelty vs zaunites' cruelty were portrayed? Like, on one hand, they do explicitly show enforcers massacring rebels and abusing undercity citizens on orders from the council. Silco also mentions that topside had zaunites working in toxic mines with unbreathable air that literally clogged their throats, and apparently they were explicitly restricted from using the hexgates (as Silco had to demand it in a deal with Jayce) which is another way to keep them down.
But then we also get these moments where it feels like they pulled back a bit, such as dialogue that portrays topside's crimes as just "neglect" and "ignorance" instead of like. Active and malicious steps taken to brutally oppress people and carefully maintain that oppression. Understandably more screentime was given to characters like Heimerdinger and Jayce compared to other councillors, as they are game champions. But then we have this imbalance where most major topside characters are those who just "didn't know" and "weren't aware about how bad the oppression was", they simply needed to go down there and open their eyes and now they're graciously trying to do good.
Which is all well and good, but... what of the councillors who KNEW of the horrible conditions of zaun as they themselves worked to create them? All the oppressive legislation had to come from somewhere and someone right? The horrible mines Vander and Silco's generation endured, laws restricting them from the same economic privileges topside gets, and of course the murder of zaunites by enforcers, ordered directly by councillors. The last one in particular is strangely brushed under the rug in pivotal moments, like Vi entering a Councillor's home and just? Laying in bed? No disgust or anger that she's in the home of the same people who ordered her parents to be killed? She IS aware that enforcers' violence is sanctioned by the council right? As well as Ekko inviting Heimerdinger, the ex-ruler of the city, into his secret safe haven, no animosity at all, even though there was plenty aimed at Caitlyn.
I can understand they wanted an approach of every main character having shades of gray, and giving attention to councillors who intentionally took action to oppress zaun would cut into valuable screentime, and those straight up evil people are simply not the type of characters Arcane is interested in exploring. But maybe they still could have had zaunites react a bit more realistically towards these councillors, so it doesn't suddenly feel like they pulled their punches.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thank you Anon! First off I must say this is a fantastic ask, and I think you and I see eye to eye on most of this. Sorry for the delayed response, I didn't often have enough spoons to finish the reply.
I'm going to answer this as someone who has read the wiki broadly and knows almost nothing about the game lore and other game-only characters.
I think everything is Piltover's fault.
You have it correct in your depiction of the Zaun/Piltover divide, but I think you can go even further. Arcane is a story of intergenerational trauma, how it gets passed down like a curse... But this trauma is born from the violence of their situation, and that is entirely created by Piltover's oppression of Zaun.
The furthest back we see for our characters is Vander drowning Silco in the Pilt, full of chemicals that leave him disabled and disfigured. We know from dialogue and the show events that they were oppressed then, that they fought for liberation, and that Vander betrayed Silco and ended up having some (rather vague) power in Zaun.
The city is poluted. The people are struggling to rebel and gain independence... And our desperate characters turn violently on each other, setting the stage for the decades to come, with more death, more violence, more desperation.
That entire set up is due to Zaun being under the boot of Piltover. If Zaun were an independent nation, they could blame themselves for (most) of it. But they are a pretty dire depiction of colonialism instead. If Zaun was doing as well as Piltover, Silco would be a fine businessman, friendly, driven, maybe smitten with the gentle barman Vander, who only punches in his boxing classes.
The entire show depends on Piltover being the worst, and keeping Zaunites' heads under water.
They have deals to keep Zaunites away from Piltover, with Vander enforcing it. They have a complete hold on commerce with the bridges as chokepoints. They export all their polluting industry there. Clearly they control the wages, and the very solid glass ceiling of social advancement. Viktor, after all, is terribly aware that he'll never go further unless he breaks the rules. His Zaunite origins are a shackle.
I personally was very impressed with the show for going that way. But You got it. I think they wanted to have their cake and eat it. They made Piltover's oppression real and awful... I mean that shot of them ordering the city be choked further? Despite the Sheriff's protests?
Tumblr media
And sure, Heimerdinger isn't in that picture, but he can't always be absent from Council asshole moments, since he's been on the Council from its inception.
In my humble opinion Heimerdinger is the biggest asshole of Arcane. Sits on the Council while it destroys Zaun for profit, ignores the political situation in favour of being a clueless arts and science enjoyer, out of touch with 99% of his constituents as he fails to perceive they live drastically different lives from him (or fails to understand why that matters, leading to Viktor's radicalization and Jayce's takeover).
But worst of all he crosses the river, realises how bad things are (probably has no idea too, because a trip to the seedy part of town would not reveal the depth of destitution and systematic abuse rampant there), and thinks he's 'not welcome' because his attempt at "fixing things" aren't welcomed. BRO, the only thing you tried to fix was making a girl smile with a TOUPEE MAGIC TRICK.
He's detatched from reality. He IMMEDIATELY gives up. It made me incredibly mad that Ekko was stripped of his identity and class consciousness to suck on his furry cock for The Joy Of Science. Like hell no. Heimerdinger needs to be put in a burlap bag and drowned in the Pilt for centuries of crime against humanity.
So yeah, they wanted to show a place in deep trouble due to oppression, but they also wanted some of the oppressors to be UwU blorbos who don't deserve hate because they try so hard and they actually have a kind heart... Just like with Cait and Vi's relationship, I feel like it's due to rushing things. The show is nearly perfect, but it sure could have used an extra episode, or since it already has a second season greenlit, could have kept councillors as Antagonists for longer. We understand asshole rich people. We could understand Heimer with his head in the sand and disconection to mortals. We could forgive a lot if they went through a proper arc. But making toupees and gushing about science with Ekko isn't character development.
I feel like the Firelights were shoehorned not for complexity or to show a divided Zaun, but to give the viewers 'good Zaunites' to root for, so they could switch Silco into a villain.
Sadly anyone with critical thinking will realise that Silco is the one who obtained freedom for Zaun (no matter if he squanders it as he dies), and the one who has been working hard to make it a richer place. It's not just the chembarons. Like the episode after the timeskip literally shows us a montage of this new Zaun. And sure shimmer is a part of it, but shimmer is also shown to be a GOOD thing in places, a FUN one in others, and it's far from being the only weird/amoral thing Zaunites use or indulge in. Silco isn't a morally good guy, but his goals are good for the whole of Zaun, and he's the one who gets what he wants in the end and could have ended the oppression he dedicated his entire life to fighting.
Meanwhile the Firelights are a haven against shimmer, but they're a ONE tree house worth of people. They have no plan for Zaun. They actively attack and hinder the one guy who'll ultimately win THEIR OWN FREEDOM. Yeah, it's divided, and that's great! I love all of it, except for shimmer's vagueness. But where the show fails, I think, is in trying to tell us that this is Good. That the Firelights are the morally Good Zaunites. Waiting in a treehouse, being an insular group that fights another gang to the death, being differentiated only in that they don't partake in the local drug... Is Good.
While making sacrifices, bad deals, using drug money, is Bad. Even if it came with political unity, and was the group that got the results, it's Bad.
They made a perfectly grey and subtle setup, and then instead of going 'there are many grey, even dark ways to be a hero for your people' — looking at both Silco and Ekko — they went white/black and 'also the freedom fighter is a bad guy, not a complex guy'.
Ekko doesn't have plans to free Zaunites. He thinks killing Silco will kill Shimmer, which is the reasoning of a child. If Silco dies, if all of Silco's gang dies, someone else will step in and pick up shimmer production. It's like toothpaste, you don't get to put it back in the tube.
Even if Silco took shimmer with him to the grave, all that Ekko would have achieved would be to leave Zaun at the mercy of power hungry chembarons, ready to split up again and enter a power struggle that would harm thousands of Zaunites under their rule.
Would Ekko care? Yes, I guess he would, but he won't be able to put all these poor Zaunites into cute tree houses, so fuck them I guess.
More importantly, would Ekko ever come to realise that killing Silco was a mistake? I don't think so, because Ekko got his brains scooped out to love on Heimerdinger. He lets a Councillor's daughter lecture him about violence, a day after 5 of his people were killed by Jinx.
Ekko is one of those characters that looks cool if you don't scratch the surface, but didn't have a real arc or a real character consistency. Unless we're truly to believe he's politically dumb enough to think Silco is a bigger evil than Heimerdinger and that life in Zaun is miserable because of Silco and not because of hundreds of years of oppression overseen by Heimer.
And that's indeed what we see, so oopsies I guess.
If Zaunites reacted more realistically to Councillors, Heimer would get a dressing down at best, and Cait would have an incredibly better arc with Vi, but the show would need one more episode at best, and more uncertain Season 1 endings for the Pilties.
I've rambled a lot and not sure I've really made a coherent answer... But this is what you get x'D sorry

You bet! I hope you enjoy!!

Between Lightning and Thunder
Pairing: Silco/GN!Reader
Summary: Rainy season shuts down Zaun. You and Silco try to take advantage of the lazy mornings.
Warnings: SFW, None (technically one lil' mention of naughtiness, but its brief)
WC: 2.2K
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn’t often that the Undercity was ground to a halt because of weather. When the atmosphere was already thick with toxic fumes things like precipitation and temperature didn’t often sway people from living their lives.
But this was . . . not typical.
Summer had suddenly concluded and the rainy season fell upon Zaun and Piltover in buckets and waves. Small hurricanes kept battering against the cities’ shorelines; the Pilt swelled up so high that the smallest wave crests licked the underside of the bridges; the streets of the lowest districts in Piltover transformed into babbling brooks and the deepest parts of the Sump filled with the onslaught of rain water.
The Storm of Our Time they were calling it . . .
A dramatic name for a dramatic time. But it wasn’t all bad . . . not as far as you were concerned.
The rain steadily beating against the bedroom window once again pulled you sweetly from sleep. It had been your wakeup call for the past three weeks since the first of the storms rolled in. The sound comforted you, though not nearly as much as the feeling of the warm chest under your cheek.
This was the reason you couldn’t be bothered to be too upset by the bombardment of inclement weather.
The basement of The Last Drop flooded in the first couple days of the rainy season. Then the streets outside did, prompting Silco to close the bar and have sandbags stacked around the establishment’s perimeter. All employees were sent out. Whether they went home, to a brothel, or to a drug den, Silco didn’t care. He just didn’t want them underfoot if there was nothing for them to do.
Singed’s lab flooded at the end of the first week. The damage was immense. Shimmer samples and shipments diluted beyond saving; other personal projects of Singed’s were ruined and washed away. The usually unflappable scientist was beside himself, and it had been the only time he demanded Silco to get out of his lab.
With no one to do business for or with, Silco’s tasks soon dried up. Which meant no need for late nights (all-nighters, really) or accidentally falling asleep in his desk chair or on his office couch. He actually came to bed. Which meant you actually got to wake up with him.
Your head slowly rose up and down to the tempo of Silco’s sleepy breathing. The soft percussive beat of his heart thumping against your cheek made your lips pull into a gooey smile. The arm you had slung over his torso flexed and you snuggled closer to his side. Like a wandering vine, your leg and ankle coiled further around his. Sharing a bed was so rare now, waking up before he did was even rarer, and you planned to enjoy every moment.
Rainy season could last for another three months for all you cared. The water could flood all the way up to your living quarters above The Drop, and even then you weren’t sure if it would bother you.
Silco shifted under your hold, a sleepy grumble rattling at the base of his throat. The arm he had wrapped around your waist slid up until his hand could curl around your shoulder and pulled you closer. Your smile widened enough to let your teeth graze against his sleepshirt and you made your own pleased, dreamy sound, nuzzling closer.
Lazily, you tilted your head to peer up at him through your lashes. His sea-green eye was closed, the ember-orange one was hidden behind the soft-shell eyepatch he wore for sleep . . . when he remembered it. His jet hair was a soft, tousled mess atop his head. Having no meetings, not venturing out of The Drop, meant Silco hadn’t felt a need to pomade his coif into its usual slicked back style. Absent of product, his hair was fluffy, waving and kinking like it had when you were both young revolutionaries. You hadn’t really realized how much you missed it until he let it dry naturally after the first shower he took once The Drop was closed down to wait out the storms.
Jinx was obsessed with it.
She touched it, ran her fingers through it any chance she could. When he read to her before bed, she had taken to sitting higher up in the crook of his arm so she could easily twirl the soft strands absent mindedly around her small fingers. You could hardly blame her. His hair was very soft, the twists and turns of his waves sliding satisfyingly around interested fingers.
It took a great amount of will power to not stretch your hand up and tangle it in Silco’s bedhead now. It was so very tempting. The only thing that stopped you was the lax, peaceful expression that sleep offered your partner. The long lines of his face were softened by rest, wrinkles less deep. Even the scarring on the left side seemed less severe at rest, despite not being covered up. It was so very rare for him to look so . . . peaceful. Even if he was pleased when awake, Silco’s face was always a little tight, perpetually set in expressions that commanded and set others on edge.
Much like the natural state of his hair, the softness of his face was familiar to you, too. Warmth bloomed inside of your chest. You wondered if he could feel it against his abdomen.
Gods, you adored him.
“Go back to sleep.”
The tired mumble broke you from your reverie. You blinked and went to lift your head. The movement was quickly thwarted by Silco placing a firm hand against your skull, holding your head to his chest.
“Sleep,” he repeated.
You snickered and muscled your way out of his grip, sliding up his chest into the crook of his neck. Your nose slotted into that delicious spot where Silco’s jaw hinged behind his ear and you took a deep breath in. He smelled sweet and deep; like sleep, Shimmer, and smoke.
“It’s morning,” you murmured into his neck before sucking a drowsy, open-mouthed kiss against his jugular.
He hummed and nestled his jaw against the crown of your head. “It’s still raining. There’s no need to get up right now.” Silco tilted his head enough to kiss your hairline, “Go back to sleep.”
“Hmph,” you huffed. “Says the man who won’t get a regular night’s rest even if I ask him.” You kissed the same spot, sucking a little harder this time. Silco gave a hissy grunt and his legs gently squirmed in the grip you had on him.
“Lovely, I’m here now,” he insisted. You didn’t need to look at him to know there was a small smile curling the corners of his mouth. “I know you don’t think it crosses my mind, but I do realize we don’t have the opportunity for many moments like this anymore. So, please, let’s just rest. Let me just have you here.”
You slid your body the rest of the way up so you could stare down at him. Silco’s good eye was open, the other remained covered. His expression was soft, much like the hand that was slowly grazing up and down your spine. Finally surrendering to the urge, your free hand carded over the longer locks on top of his head before sliding down to softly scratch through the shorter strands of his undercut. Silco’s eye fluttered shut and he groaned appreciatively, his head lulling and pressing into your hand.
You smirked. If Vander had been the Hound, Silco was the Feline. Not that you’d ever actually say such a thing out loud.
Your fingers wound to the back of Silco’s head and you dipped your head down to plant a kiss on his mouth. His lips had slightly parted during your ministrations, and your upper lip easily took up residence in the juncture. Silco groaned again – sounding much more like a purr now that your lips muffled his noises – and his left hand slid up to weave his fingers in your sleep-mussed hair while his right continued to run up and down your spine.
The kiss was deep, but not hungry nor heated. Lips slowly rolled together, tongue tips occasionally glancing over each other. A kiss for the sake of kissing with no other goal in mind. In so many ways so much more intimate and personal than Silco burying himself to the hilt inside of you.
Not that you minded that. Maybe later today . . . if you could busy Jinx with some menial task.
For now, this was perfect. You placed a final, firm peck against Silco’s scarred mouth before pulling away. Before he could grumble about your absence, you ran your nails through his hair again. Just like before, he hummed and his head followed your hand.
“I hope you know,” you said, “that I don’t say those things to nag you. I just worry. And I miss you. I miss this, too.”
The sea-green eye opened again, looking at you meaningfully. Silco firmed his palm against the back of your head and pulled you in for another kiss.
“I know,” he whispered as your lips parted.
You softly smiled and moved your fingers from the back of his head to sweep down the grooves on the left side of his face. Your thumb swept along the apple of his sharp cheekbone as you leaned in to kiss the corner of his mouth, where his scars met his upper lip.
“I love you,” you cooed, settling back down against Silco’s chest.
“I love you, too, my Lovely,” Silco replied, wriggling his body deeper into the bed and adjusting the hold he had on you. Your limbs were now so knotted together you weren’t entirely sure where you stopped and Silco began.
You loved it.
Silco’s chest puffed and a long yawn blew from his mouth. “Now let’s rest. We’ll get up when Jinx comes looking for us.”
Neither one of you fell fully back asleep. Silco’s fingers lazily swept up and down your back and arms, his blunt nails leaving tingly trails on your skin. Your hands gently massaged and rubbed loose circles across his chest and back. You both listened to the rain patter and pound against the bedroom window. Occasionally, thunder would rumble and lightening would crack. Inconsistent but easy conversations about nothing were mumbled between the two of you.
It had never rained so hard, but you were reminded of moments early in your relationship. Lazy mornings spent together, tangled on a cot, tucked underneath a ragged blanket, thoroughly wrapped up in each other. In the starts of the revolution, before Vander’s betrayal, when things were simpler, lighter. Although, it hadn’t seemed like it at the time.
Hindsight was 20/20, you supposed.
Never the matter. You had it again now. Except now your bed was spacious and the blankets were warm.
You hadn’t bothered to look at the time when you first woke, so you weren’t sure how long you and Silco simply laid there holding each other before the ‘morning’ insisted on starting.
The morning for the last three weeks, since the start of the torrential rainy season, had come in the form of a wriggly, blue-haired gremlin. Jinx either barreled into the bedroom or crept in. There was no in-between. Today you and Silco were bum-rushed by a small, blue cannon-ball.
Jinx hurled herself onto the bed, stuffed bunny tucked under her arm. Her loose hair was a tangled rat’s nest of clips and hair ties.
“MOR-NING!” she sang. “Up! Up! Time to get up!”
Jinx crawled over to Silco and lifted the eyepatch off his ember eye. “Siiiiilllcooooooo!”
You snorted into Silco’s chest
“We’ve talked about this, child,” Silco huffed. “Knock and wait to be invited in.”
“I’ve been up for hooourrsss!” Jinx exclaimed, flopping onto the pillow next to Silco’s head. As you anticipated, her hands wove their way into his hair. “I’m bored. Let’s get up and do things already.”
“Jinx,” you called from your spot on Silco’s chest, “do you know how to figure out the distance of lightning strikes?”
The girl peered down at you, eyes wide and fingers dancing through Silco’s hair. She shook her head.
“You count the number of seconds between a flash of lightning and the sound of thunder that follows it, and then divide that number by five.”
Jinx’s lips made a perfect ‘o’ and she shuffled to prop herself against the bed’s headboard, fingers never leaving Silco’s crown. Her gaze fixed to the bedroom window and she – you all – waited. Eventually, lightning flashed behind the glass and Jinx began counting under her breath.
“One Shimmer shipment, Two Shimmer shipments . . .”
Thunder clashed when she reached ten. Both your and Silco’s eyes tilted up to her, waiting. Jinx’s brow furrowed and her lips pursed in thought.
“Two! The lightning is two miles away!”
“Very good,” Silco said.
“Nice math, pumpkin,” you yawned.
Jinx beamed under the praise and watched the window again.
Before long, all three of you were softly counting the space between lightning and thunder together.
“One Shimmer shipment, two Shimmer shipments, three Shimmer shipments . . . “
Yes. The storms could keep rolling in as far as you were concerned.

Vi, unbound.
Vi sees it then, not just the purple veins popping on her slight wrist, she sees the cracked marble lines of Shimmer across Jinx's jaw, her strained throat, in the sockets of her gaunt eyes, haunted purple hue to her gaze and her deathly demeanor. In the imposing space of the council tower Vi could only think of how small her sister looked, pale and petite, not much more than the child she left her as. She could see the pink hue of her eyes, the snake of her viciousness cutting off circulation at the thought of Shimmer tainting her, at the thought of why Silco would need, want to be dosing her with it.
Now, up close, Jinx looks inhuman, glowing under the fluorescent light, with slight iridescence to her dripping blood, to her pale skin. Her eyes are so big in her face Vi drowns in the toxic sludge of her sister's presence. She doesn't look like any of the Shimmer addicts Vi has seen in the Sump, broken down and rotten alive, Jinx is teeming with life, with threat.
"What did he do?" She asks; Jinx giggles at Vi's horrified tone, at the crack in her voice. She tries to flip her wrist to grasp her hand, fingernails grazing Vi's palm. "What did he do to you?

Her little smile and his embrace. <3 He needed that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then he does, and he can run on his own, and he and Jayce are supposed to be enemies then. :(
Tumblr media
He puts too much faith into Jayce. For better or for worse, he loves him. :(
Tumblr media
Yet, he doesn't know where Viktor is. I'm so mad at him. :(
Tumblr media
I like how loyal Sevika is to Silco. She calls him "Sir" gives advices. She sees a true leader in her and she cares.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU've had a lot on YOUR plate? Viktor is literally DYING. This isn't about you, you silly privileged boy. Jfc.

T h e y.
Tumblr media
It took me ridiculously long to notice, but look at his tie. Look at his clothes. He looks amazing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Calling the only person he truly loves his dog... oh, they're going to regret that in a minute. :) I love this scene because he deals so wonderfully and so in character with it. He's a great villain.
Tumblr media
I like how even Sevika has to wear a mask and how for him it's a good signal. But while everyone is coughing, he gives his speech and he's breathing just fine.
Tumblr media
He needs to take just ONE long breath while Finn is literally suffocating. Makes you wonder how resilient Silco truly is. And how much of that is the result on Vander trying to kill him & that he now has to take shots for his eye/immune system.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we go again. Totally platonic father and daughter relationship. x)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She tortures him & he lets her. She sits in his lap & he lets her. She insults him & he lets her. There's no one else he would allow to treat himself that way.
Tumblr media
This one particularly gets me because she's almost sitting on his crotch and the zoom in happens on his reaction, on his hand, and I'm sorry, I can't see this as completely platonic. This is possessive and toxic and the line between parenting and romance is very much blurred.

The wrist touch. How vulnerable she immediately becomes.

I can't decide,
Whether you should live or die.
Oh, you'll probably go to heaven.
Please don't hang your head and cry.
No wonder why,
My heart feels dead inside.
It's cold and hard and petrified.
Lock the doors and close the blinds.
We're going for a ride!
“I Can’t Decide” – Scissor Sisters
—-————————————
Zaun.
For a city that existed within the toxicity, filth, and runoff of the shining jewel of Runeterra otherwise known as Piltover, Zaun has always been grotesquely beautiful, alluring, and mysterious as it grew beneath the shadows of the upper level. Zaun pulsed like one’s own heart - illuminated within its smog by its vibrant, neon lights that provided an ever-glowing essence to its beating aura. This city never slept, for why would anything teeming with such life dare to sleep when it could constantly be dancing and dreaming while awake?
While you did not love the cards that your own life had dealt you, for a variety of reasons, one thing you knew with absolute certainty from an early age:
You loved Zaun.
So this is why you find yourself on a rooftop, awaiting the group that had started calling themselves The Sons of Zaun to show after you left a not-so-subtle calling card, in the form of setting fire to one of their safehouses, squarely in their lap. Since this was to get their attention and not do harm, you had the building cleared hours before setting it ablaze as well as ensuring the fire didn’t ruin any of their supplies being stored there. A wicked grin crossed your face as you casually lit a cigarette, took a long pull, and leaned your head back to savor the nicotine and your thoughts returned to The Sons. This group and you had been dancing around each other’s paths for about a year now and, after careful spying on them for half of that time, you’d come to the sensible conclusion that you should align your efforts. They seemed genuine in their cause and held an admittedly admirable fire for fighting for the freedoms and independence of this city that had outgrown its need to be the dirt beneath Piltover’s shoes.
Genuine, yes, but perhaps slightly unorganized. The group was mastheaded by two young men: Vander and Silco. The twosome called themselves brothers, though it was painfully obvious to anyone there was no true blood relation between both of them. You’d sized them up rather quickly after haunting their footsteps for a few weeks. Vander was the muscle and was admirably good at training the younger recruits how to defend themselves. Then there was Silco, the obvious brains of the lot of them, who had surprised you on more than one occasion with his well-organized heists as well as meticulous scheming against the Piltoverian enforcers. He’d come close once to even discovering you – a fact you found not only impressive but disturbing all the same.
Most of your life you’d spent as a ghost. Your unusual upbringing and fervor for ensuring Zaun wasn’t completely overtaken by Piltover, had you living in its shadows as a thief and, later, assassin for hire. You closed yourself purposefully off from any friends and family for many years, convincing yourself that it was much easier to deal with things with your own two hands and emotionally easier to sever any ties that might have you make a costly mistake. Piltover’s aggression and power was growing; however, every day. It was only a matter of time before a singular person such as yourself would be overtaken and thrown in Stillwater Hold or killed outright.
You weren’t sure which fate would be worse.
Your breath caught in your lungs after another long drag and you violently let out several harsh coughs before angrily flinging the half-spent cigarette over the edge and to the ground below. Must be the damned smoke from the fires aggravating things, you’d thought bitterly. Wheezing, you fumbled quickly through your pockets and pulled out a small device, pulled it to your lips, hit a button, and inhaled deeply as you closed your eyes and counted the seconds. Smoking was a habit you never should have formed with the damage to your lungs you’d had since birth, but you’d found most of the time you were able to handle it even though you realized, in time, it would eventually take its toll. Wiping the tears from coughing so hard from your face and eyes, you began to breathe again and shook your head at yourself.
“I really need a better hobby,” you croaked, your throat still raw from the harsh coughing before.
Scanning the area once again, you suddenly froze as you caught the eyes of none other than Silco standing on the street below…staring right at you with a smirk set upon his face. Cheeky bastard, you thought as you stood up. Confident that anyone that would find themselves in this situation would surely react the same, you returned the smirk slowly, bowed in a grand fashion, and waved at him.
“Lovely weather we’re having, don’t you think? I felt it might be a bit chilly, so I decided to light a fire to help keep warm,” you said loud enough for him to hear with a wide grin that faltered a bit as his smirk only grew. “Pity it got a bit out of hand, eh?”
You heard footsteps behind you as Silco’s grin widened to match yours, reminding you a bit of a cat getting ready to eat its prey. “Pity, indeed,” he began as you pretend to be unaware of the persons creeping closer behind you. “Are you always so reckless?”
Casually, you slide your hand down the thick, long braid of hair at your side, playing along with this game, as you spun it around in your hand, as if out of habit and looking utterly bored. “No more or less than you are, I’d surmise,” you say and with that you spin on your heel and thrust the end of your braid in an arc towards the two men behind you. The two of them, younger than yourself but a bit larger in frame, give you a startled look upon being caught. You notice only one of them has quick enough eyes to spot the blade on the end of your braid, forming it into a sort of weapon, before it sliced them both.
Fools, you thought. You’re very lucky I wasn’t aiming to kill.
The two give a wounded shout as the blade slices them both across the chest, not deep enough to do more than stun and wound their pride, as you then begin your escape from them across the rooftops. You shoot a quick glace to where Silco had been standing and note that he had disappeared, likely to join the chase, as you then parkour down to the street below. Swiftly, you make your way over to stand in front of the burning building before sliding to a halt.
“Now children, play nice,” you shout as you hear the two from the rooftop stumble their way down to the ground with Silco or any others still no where in sight. “I only want to talk.”
The young boys who had attempted your capture on the rooftop now came into view as they approached you with caution. You made no attempt to run away and held your hands up.
“You have a funny way of asking for an invitation, my dear,” Silco’s voice came from your left where you found him lazily leaning against the corner of a building a short distance away.
He spun a dagger in his fingertips as he then pushed off the wall and began his way over to you with a swagger to his step, twirling the blade within his hand, and never taking his eyes off of you as he grew nearer. You’d witnessed his skill with that very blade several times from afar and could tell by the way of his approach he was sending only one very clear signal: one of warning.
“I would humbly request parlay with you gentlemen,” a request left your lips as others, presumably with this group, started revealing themselves as they also came to join Silco and the two boys.
Silco actually stopped at your words and cocked his head to the side, an action reminding you of a bird, “Well, I hate to disappoint you, but as you are well aware, we’re not on a ship, so parlay may not be an option for you.”
It was the first time you’d been this up close to really see this particular Son of Zaun. His gate gave off and air of surprising confidence for someone who had to of been no older than 30, only a few years older than yourself, you’d gauge. You found him intriguing, to say the least. The sharp angular features of his face, as only a true Zaunite would have, was complimented well with his slightly long, inky-black hair that framed it. The juxtapose of his dark hair only brought out the intensity within his oceanic colored eyes as you studied him for a moment. Strong for someone so lean you’d observed from a distance before as you now caught the peak of the muscle of his forearm as he neared you. Those blue-green eyes never leaving you, you noticed, as he seemed to be sizing you up as well.
He was roguishly handsome, you admitted to yourself before quickly shutting that thought down in your head. Clearing your throat and your thoughts, you then retorted and lowered your voice seductively, “Come now, I’ll make it worth your while.”
Silco merely chuckled and resumed his encroachment, “I’m sure you would; however, there are consequences to be had for what you’ve done. Surely you understand?”
“Consequences? Hmm, sounds a bit kinky,” you said with a wink and a grin as a few of the younger kids in the crowd visibly blushed and/or coughed. “We don’t even know each other.”
“I beg to differ, my dear. We are well aware of who you are,” Silco began as he came to stand mere inches in front of you, purposefully invading your personal space, “though only by reputation, not in name.”
“Give me an audience. I promise I won’t waste your time. Maybe I’ll even tell you my name? Besides, I made sure your little storage shed was cleaned out of the supplies of importance and also ensured there was no one there when I set it ablaze. Just wanted your attention and, well, here we are.”
The tension in the air was shifting and everyone in the vicinity seemed to pick up on it with the space you and Silco held being its epicenter. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Silco grip his dagger harder within his hand and the others surrounding you both took that as a queue to ready themselves. His patience obviously waning, you and Silco proceeded to stare each other down for a few moments, the few inches separating the both of you electrified with every second that passed. He was the one to break the moment, but only after several minutes of palpable silence had passed.
“Why?”
You blinked. You were expecting many things. Being asked why wasn’t near the top of that list. You considered Silco for only a fraction of a second after the initial surprise of his question and decided to drop the act and answer honestly.
“Because I believe in Zaun.”
Silco took a short step back away from you, narrowed his eyes, and gave you a searing look that felt like he was peering into your very soul, as if he was searching for some proof of what you’d said being false. The smiles and your flirtatious nature had been immediately dropped with your last words as you merely arched an eyebrow back at him, daring him to question the truth in what you’d just told him. You watched as he then straightened himself to his full height above you, seeming to come to whatever conclusions he’d gleaned as he then hummed under his breath.
Suddenly, garnering everyone in the small group’s attention, a loud whistle came a rooftop across from them. You spied what looked to be a teenage girl making some sort of large arm and hand signals to the group below. You heard a few within the group murmur the girl’s name was Sevika as they then looked to their leader in front of you with concern. Silco visibly tensed and then shook his head while the others surrounding you started to spread out. A few of them, you noted, had looks of panic set into their faces.
“Well, sweetheart,” he began as you scowled at the sarcastic term of endearment he’d used at you, “it appears you may get a chance to prove yourself a bit. Your little bonfire has drawn the attention of the Enforcers, it seems.”
Your scowl deepened. You’d gone to certain lengths to ensure that the Piltoverian guard that generally kept eyes on this part of town were, well, taken care of, before you’d started your little show here today. Something must have changed…or someone else alerted them. The latter thought had you seething, knowing it had to of been someone within the Sons’ ranks.
Damnit.
“I’m at your service,” you state bluntly. “Oh, and if you ever call me sweetheart again, darling, don’t be surprised if you wake up to my blade in a less than pleasant location.”
Silco chuckled before raising his voice slightly to you and the group before him. “Pair up and spread out. Meet back at The Drop and be careful to avoid being followed in the process,” he began as the group almost immediately dispersed and then his eyes fell on you. “You’re with me.”
Silco went to grab your arm to lead you away as you rolled your eyes. You both; however, froze on the spot when a bullet went whizzing past your ear and lodged in the wall behind you. From behind him, you spied an Enforcer sniper on a rooftop opposite of where you’d previously seen the teenage girl that alerted you. A pit of cold settled into your stomach knowing now without a doubt that someone used your efforts today against you and the Sons of Zaun and had alerted the Enforcers well enough ahead of time to allow for them to setup at least one sniper, no less. The sniper was preparing yet another shot when you and Silco started darting out of the open and into the alleyways nearby.
You both had not made it very far in before your arm was yanked harshly from behind and you were slammed and pinned against the wall of an adjoining alley. Venom was in his gaze as Silco held you in a crushing grip.
“You have ten seconds to explain what the fuck is going on here!” he seethed thru his obvious fury while attempting to control the volume of his voice so as to not alert others to your location.
“I should be asking you the same thing!” you spat back at him as you squirmed within his grip and eyed both edges of the alleyway you were pinned within for signs of Enforcers. “I work alone, Silco. That means it’s easier to keep things secret. There’s no one to tell. Why the fuck would I come to join forces only to give you away? I’m here to help your fucking cause, not end it!”
He pushed your shoulders deeper into the wall as he lifted you with ease up and off the ground with a strength you weren’t aware his wiry frame possessed, “Then how did they know ahead of time? It’s clear—”
“It’s clear to me,” you quickly interrupted him. “That your ten seconds are up and if we’re not careful to continue this conversation at a later date, we are both going to end up dead!”
Silco let out a growl as he proceeded to immediately release his grip on you and you struggle to hold your footing as you land awkwardly and lean back against the wall to regain your balance. Without allowing you any time, he then grabbed you by the arm and pulled you forward with him to the edge of the alley way before guiding you both to scramble up a drainpipe and to the rooftops above.
You followed him at a break-neck pace across several buildings before he signaled you to halt and crouch out of sight next to him behind a wall leading up to a higher floor of the building you were on. He placed his finger to his lips as you nodded before you watched him begin to creep out into the open. Alarmed that you’d spied a few Enforcers a ways back, also atop the buildings you passed by at this level and in the fact they might see him once exposed, you hastily grabbed at the back of his shirt and pulled him back into you. Silco leveled you with an angry glare.
“You’re going to be seen in two seconds of crawling out into the open like that,” you whispered to him. “What the hell are you thinking?”
“I need to know if we’re still being tailed unless you had any better ideas,” he growled at you under his breath. “We cannot lead them back to The Drop.”
You shoved him a bit off of you and looked around before your eyes caught how high up the building you were on went. Silco watched you intently as your face took on a calculating expression as you began to chart your coarse mentally for what was to come next. You then checked over both edges of the wall you were hiding behind with him before you voiced your plan.
“There were four on either side as we were running in this direction earlier,” you began softly under your breath, still scanning the area and listening for any noises of movement surrounding you both. “Sorry to scold you, but the rooftops are my favorite territory usually and you may just not have noticed and I didn’t want you shot.”
“How kind,” Silco stated with a bitter, sarcastic tone. “I’m not new at this, you realize.”
“I do. I also realize we’re both in a bit of a mess here,” you said with a scowl. “You have someone playing both sides within your ranks.”
You watched as Silco’s eyes narrowed a bit and then looked around. “I know,” he stated with no small amount of disdain. “We’ll handle that later. I can only hope the others get back safely at this point.”
“Well, if it makes you feel any better, I’m fairly certain they’re after either me or you from what I’d noticed in how they followed us out of there.”
Silco’s eyes widened at that, “Are you certain?”
“Not yet, but that’s part of my plan,” you began as you pulled your hood over your head. “Now, if you’ll excuse me for a moment, I’m going to check to see if we’ve lost them or if they’re still following us. From a safer spot, that is, than walking out in plain view. Keep a lookout for me, will you?”
As Silco began to object, you turned, ignored him, and began to scale the wall you’d both been crouched against, still remaining in its shadow. It took a few minutes until you reached the desired height at the peak of the turret the wall formed into that you were climbing. Once there, you tested and then held onto a bracket sticking out of the stonework before you swung wide to get a glance at the area around you from this height. You blocked out the sunlight of dusk from your eyes and squinted to see if you could still tell where the four you’d passed were as well as if any other of Piltover’s finest were in your area.
You’d expected to see a few of them had abandoned the chase. The complete lack of seeing any of them in the area made you frown. They had every intent of taking one or the other of you today with how they had chased you with fervor when you both had taken to the rooftops. While your general opinion of the enforcers were that they were lazy at best, they still were not known to abandon things so very quickly. This also seemed to be a planned effort. You grimaced. Something wasn’t right here at all.
You looked down and saw Silco watching you, several feet below you, in the shadow of the building. He made a gesture as if to ask if you saw anything. Still hanging by one arm off the bracket, you shrugged slightly with the other arm and moved to start to make your way back down. You froze when a glint of something caught your eye to your left and you snapped your view towards it only in time to realize it was sunlight shining off the barrel of a gun as it fired at you. You spun and slammed into the side of the wall off the bracket attempting to dodge the bullet and while you escaped it hitting anything vital, it still struck you across the arm that had held the bracket as you let out a yelp.
Silco watched from below as you narrowly avoided completely losing your grip on the wall. Losing control for a few seconds, you slid harshly down, the stone and wood of the building pulling up your shirt and scraping your abdomen, chest, and the ends of your fingers before you found purchase again within its cracks and molding and held tight for a few seconds as you caught your breath. Coming to your senses, you quickly looked left and right to see if you were at least out of range as you then began the somewhat painful descent downward on your raw fingertips. Your mid-section burning from the scrape as you descend the wall.
Silco had moved to stand beneath where you were at on the wall to help you the remaining part of the way as he pulled you downward. Without realizing, he grabbed your waist to lead you to the roof below his feet and inadvertently grabbed across the scratched flesh under your shirt. You hissed in pain as he quickly released you and sat you down. “You were hit.”
“Among other things,” you deadpanned and then suck air between your teeth in a bit of pain as he looked you over for injuries. “I’ll be fine. Just nicked me, really.”
“And here I’d thought you had a plan,” he said, attempting to lighten the situation, as you just glared at him. “How many did you spot?”
“Well, no one until that fucker shot me. Maybe they paired down now that they’d narrowed their pursuit to us…or likely me, really.”
“You?”
“I was up too high for any normal person to be looking up there. With being sniped, I’m almost sure they knew to look high. Honestly, I’d thought I was far less predictable than this,” you sighed and winced as he examined the bullet wound in your arm. “Maybe you should just ditch me here and go on without me.”
Silco hummed, “Maybe…you’re just fluffing up your own ego and are out of ideas?”
You glared daggers at him, once again with a scowl as he grinned a bit.
“Or maybe I have an idea?” he started again with a shrug. “If you’re willing to listen. Tell me – where was the shooter?”
You point in the direction the bullet came from, “From this level, that direction. Must have been on someone’s balcony, perhaps? I’m not quite sure since I didn’t see the bastard until right before he shot.”
“All right,” Silco began as he reached down and squeezed at your good arm, that’d not been shot, in reassurance. You watched the motion a bit confused and jumped a bit at his touch, not having been around people this close nor having anyone try to reassure you for many years at this point. He frowned a bit before continuing, “You stay right here. I’m going to go see where our shooter might be and try to take care of him so we can sneak down and away from here.”
“Silco, they know we’re here.”
“They know you’re here, you said it yourself. They won’t see me coming, sweetheart,” he grinned and winked before moving in the shadow of the wall to the edge of the rooftop and then disappearing over the side before you could protest.
He’s going to get himself killed, you thought with a grimace and pulled yourself further out of view against the wall and waited. It was several minutes of quietly waiting there in the shadows before you started to hear sounds of a scuffle coming from the building nearby. Instinct drove you to stand and edge your way to the corner, still in hiding, as you attempted to get some view of whatever was happening that you were certain Silco was the cause of. Unable to see anything at all from this vantage point, your curiosity got the best of you as you laid down and crawled your way to the edge of the roof to see if you could obtain a better view while still out of sight. You winced as pain burned through your scratched torso as it dragged across the shingles of the rooftop and you came to the edge in order to get a view of things.
Just as you peered over to the direction you’d thought you’d seen the enforcer sniper shoot you from, you suddenly saw an individual come crashing through the window into the air and then fall harshly to the street below making an sickly, loud, crumpling noise as their body seemed to fold on top of itself as it landed. A few screams from bystanders a block or two down that witnessed the event were the only other sounds you’d heard in the vicinity as you then looked back up to the balcony edge he’d been thrown from to find a very smug Silco wiping blood from his mouth and staring straight at you. Appearing to be unharmed for the most part, you watched him wipe the blood from his dagger and hands on the side of his pants before sheathing it back in his boot and then looking back up to you.
“It was only the one,” Silco shouted up to you as you looked around in alarm and shushed him. “Don’t worry, I checked around, there’s no one in earshot that cares about us at this point. Whatever are you doing over there when I’d told you to stay put?”
You pull yourself up on all fours before sitting back on your knees as your arm held your midsection that still stung, “Maybe I’m not used to being ordered around?”
“Maybe you’ll need to if you’ll be joining us,” he stated more seriously to you in less of a shout, but loud enough for you to hear across the now relatively quiet area. When you stayed quiet for a few moments without any retort, he then followed with, “Can you climb down without hurting yourself again?”
You rolled your eyes with enough drama you were sure he could see it from across the street, flipped him a lewd gesture, and after looking around, made it over to the edge of the rooftop where Silco had previously dropped down and followed suit, albeit wincing the entire way. You met Silco down by the enforcer’s body that he was ransacking for anything of worth. Silco turned to look at you and his eyes widened instantly concerned.
“I’d thought he only hit you in the arm?” His concerned voice started as he stood and moved to touch you but seemed to catch himself, thinking better of it.
You looked down to where his hand had been moving towards to see the front of your shirt stained with blood, “Shit.” A sigh escaped your lips as you shook your head, “In my graceful attempts to dodge said hit I may have tried to slide down the building and scraped myself a bit.”
“Your entire front of your shirt is bloodied. I’d say that’s more than a bit.”
“I’m fine.”
Silco pinched between his brow with his fingers as he gave an annoyed sigh before suddenly grabbing you by the forearm and dragging you out of the middle of the street into an alleyway before stopping and waving his hand at you, “Show me.”
“What? No, I’m fine. Just – shouldn’t we get back to The Last Drop? We’ve wasted plenty of time—“
“You either show me here, with a little privacy, or you show me there amidst everyone and their mother in the Lanes that haunts that place. Now c’mon. I need to know if this is going to be an issue later on.”
Tired from the drama of the day and the drama of the man standing before you, you huffed out a, “Fine,” before pulling up the front of your shirt.
Of course this would be one of the days you decided to go without a bra as Silco got more of an eyeful than what he’d bargained for. His eyes widened briefly before you watched him swallow hard and then school his gaze to something more clinical as he observed your injuries.
“Might want to steer clear of rough walls for a bit,” he deadpanned as you shoved your shirt back down. “Sliced you up pretty good, but nothing we can’t tend to once we’re back home.”
Home, the word caught you a bit. You’d not called anywhere home since you were very, very young.
“You talk like I’m already a part of this gang of yours,” your voice came out huskier than you intended as he took a step towards you.
“Not just for me to decide, but I think you have a shot,” he said before he gave you a lopsided grin. “You know, as long as you don’t get in another fight with a wall before we get there.”
“Asshole,” you said as you swatted at his arm and he chuckled a bit.
“C’mon. We should get back before Vander starts to worry and sends someone out after us,” he said as he motioned for you to follow him as he begins to pull a cigarette from within his pockets and searches for his lighter.
Before you move, you say your name quietly out loud and you watch Silco stop dead in his tracks. Without turning around and merely angling his head back towards you, he says your name as if testing it on his lips. Only then did he turn around and offer a spare cigarette he held between his long fingertips. You consider it a few moments, having just coughed your way into being seen earlier, and then give into temptation as you take it from him, your fingers brushing against his briefly. He moves forward and ignites the lighter as you bring the hand-rolled cigarette to your lips and allow him to light it for you.
“I’d forgot to ask,” you said after a long drag and as he starts to walk out of the alley once again as you follow.
“Yes?”
“Is any of that blood on you actually yours?”
Silco huffed a bit as he took a drag before a side of his mouth quirked upwards, “He got one punch on me before he went window diving and split my lip a bit. Pretty sure I’m on the verge of dying. If I don’t make it back, let Vander know I died a hero.”
“Are you always this much of a cheeky git?” You asked with a snort.
“Always, sweetheart.”

I’m curious, in FnF, is there plans for a Jinx “redemption” arc? Because you are hands down my favorite writer writing Silco and Jinx right now, and I love their relationship as they are - “villains”. I just think it’s far more interesting to see that side of it than some “redemption” for Jinx.
Thank you so much<3
I'm happy you're enjoying Jinx and Silco's portrayal. I'm trying my hardest to write their relationship as the sugar-sticky goo of toxic sludge that it is.
tbh, while I adore redemption arcs, I also worry about the outsized emphasis on a flawed character needing to be redeemed, as if that's the only way the readers can justify their interest in them. In Jinx's case, it's more an arc of coming to grips with herself - and reconciling the shattered bits of her psyche.
Which, in a sense, I guess would put her on a path towards redemption, as it starts with acknowledging the wounds one carries inside?
Neither she nor Silco are going to end this fic on the side of the angels. But they will end it on Zaun's side, and with a solemn interest in protecting their city.
Charity begins at home, I guess? :'D

What if trans? Head canons
None of this actually applies it’s just a “what if” thing because I can. Under a cut so anyone not interested doesn’t have to see. Only Silco and Jinx (feel free to ask questions if interested).
Silco. Trans man. Never had access to a proper binder, and actually injured himself a few times by wearing the wrong thing for too long. Shortness of breath, bruised his ribs, once fractured a rib because of other things that happened while binding. Kept it from Vander for as long as possible until one day Vander realized Silco wasn’t doing well, and finally managed to convince Silco to get comfortable while it was just the two of them. Silco half expected the big muscular conventionally man’s man to tease him, but instead Vander was just happy Silco trusted him and also gently chastised Silco to do a better job of taking care of himself*. After Silco and Vander were together for a while at some point they got Silco a proper binder which Silco still has stuffed away somewhere despite no longer needing it. After The River while under Singed’s care Silco actually had the doctor perform top surgery on him, and is far more comfortable now. Silco’s voice mostly comes from deliberate voice training as well as cigarettes, and cigars and on the rare occasion it goes fem or cracks it still makes him incredibly defensive.
He did get pregnant once, gave birth, and gave the child away because he didn’t believe he could possibly raise a child properly with the life he was living. Never wants to do that again. *Do I head canon them being in a relationship, and it being toxic both ways? Yes. Am I going to say Vander was lowkey transphobic? No. Vander was supportive, kthxbye. Not to mention I don’t think most people in Zaun care regardless, and that it was more Silco just… being Silco with his own issues than anything. Jinx. Trans woman.
Did not realize it until after Silco took her in because Vi, and the others never really cared about any gender stuff and there wasn’t room for much privacy so they were all just… siblings mostly. After Silco took her in though there was a day during which some other tween was teasing her and started calling her a stupid boy. The insults, and teasing got to Jinx and she beat the hell out of them finally and when Silco asked what it was that finally got to her Jinx was confused for a bit until they figured out what it was. After that Jinx started growing her hair out long, and braiding it and learning make up and just becoming herself. There was a very very short period of time in which she tried dressing “Traditionally feminine” but after maybe two days she cut up the dress, and used the top half as a shirt then shoved the rest into a scrap pile to use as part of a doll or something else.
Silco isn’t on any kind of herbal/medication/hormone treatment, but has had top surgery and still has scars from it.
Jinx is on some kind of treatment, but has had no surgeries.

You nervously hop from one foot to the other as you think about the time. Any minute now, you were supposed to be practicing with Ekko in the amphitheater. Except, you’re waiting to hear the ‘okay’ from your brother before you head over there. None of the others have woken up yet, so you know that it’ll be okay to vanish for a few hours. ‘Aahhh, Ekko needs to comm me now or I’m just gonna show up!’ You whine.
“Incoming. Sissy?” You hear Ekko’s voice and perk up.
“Received, Kiko!” You perk up.
“Uh, where are you? Are you still up for training? I can’t because of my leg, but I can coach you.” His tone is unsure as you facepalm. ‘I can’t believe I forgot that he’s injured. I guess I was a bit to eager to get back to normal.’ You chuckle to yourself.
“I’ll open a rift for you, so you can come through. We don’t have to train since you’re injured, but I’ll show you around.” You grin, “I think you’ll be impressed.”
“…Oh, Gods. Okay, send it my way.” You roll your eyes at his reluctance while a rift opens in front of you. You feel a pulse that informs you that someone entered the other side. A happy smile crosses your face as Ekko steps out of the rift. He also has a smile on his face and you fist bump.
“Welcome to my domain!” You throw your arms open wide dramatically. Ekko blinks before bursting into laughter at your gesture. You patiently wait for him to stop laughing. Hearing him laugh after the emotional days you’ve been having is extremely relieving. There was nothing more comforting than having your brother with you.
“Now that you’re not laughing, turn around, dummy.” You huff and flick his forehead. Ekko playfully scowls at you before rolling his eyes and turning around.
“Honestly, I’ve seen the place before- WAIT WE’RE INSIDE A TREE?!” Ekko shrieks in shock, whirling back around to look at you. You laugh and nod your head.
“This is the center of the hideout.” You walk outside with him, “Everything is built around the tree. I used my magic to grow the sapling and it changed its properties, evolve if you will, to fit the environment. That’s why it’s different from the one at the Grotto. I’m not quite sure what tree it is though.” You explain squinting your eyes a tad bit in thought.
“This place is so cool, sis! I love all of the bridges, ziplines, and floating platforms. Where are the homes? Are they in the tree too?” Ekko questions glancing around to try and spot what he’s looking for.
“No, I carved them into the cliff. If you look carefully, you can see the glint of the sunlight off of the windows.” You smile at him moving his attention to the towering cliff, “I can give you a tour of the place if you want?”
“I’d like that! But, um, only places I can get to easily with my leg.” He gives you a sheepish grin.
“That’s everywhere!” You giggle and head out with him. You show him the training grounds, medical area, forge, and other places you added. It was a lot of hard work that left you feeling exhausted, but it was all worth it in the end.
“It’s crazy that there’s clean water in the Undercity.” Ekko sighs as you gaze at the waterfall, “I thought all of it was toxic.”
“So did I.” You sigh, “It wasn’t until I tested it that I realized it was clean. I want to keep it that way, and maybe use it as a reference to detoxify the rest.”
“I can help with that.” Ekko smiles, “We can get others in on it too after the war.”
“Have you told the Firelights?” You tilt your head.
“No, not officially. I wanted to do that after I talked to you today.” Ekko turns to face you, “Are you… Are you staying with the Firelights?”
“Ah…” You rub the back of your neck in apprehension, “No. It’s safer if I leave, especially because I’m in the process of forming my own group. The Firelights are your people. I could never take that from you, Kiko. Besides, I can protect you better if I can advance on my own.” You nudge him.
“I had a feeling you might say that.” Ekko chuckles sadly, “We’ll… still do everything we normally do together, right?” He asks hesitantly.
“Of course!” You punch his shoulder, “Once you’re healed, we’ll get back to training together. And, you can be sure as hell that we’re still going to invent together.”
“That’s a relief.” Ekko exhales with a sigh, “I’m not ready to let that go. I… don’t think I ever will be. I really can’t think of a life without you in it… I-I’m sorry for making you think that I died.” He puts his head in his hands. You frown and put your hand on his shoulder.
“Ekko. It’s not your fault. Please, don’t blame yourself. We know that it comes with the territory.” You sigh, “…I‘ve got to be honest and say that I didn’t take it very well.” You say hesitantly. Ekko lifts his head up from his hands and gives you a sad look.
“I eradicated a whole squad of Enforcers. I was so outraged that they took you from me and nearly took Jinx too. I don’t really remember what happened all I could focus on was the anger I felt that I lost all forms of reason. When I finally came to there was nothing but blood and limbs everywhere. Only fragments of what was once a person, that was all that I could see. It was quite shocking, but I wouldn’t say that I didn’t feel satisfied by the scene around me.”
“…I-I don't really know what to say.” Ekko stutters, “I mean… I haven’t turned you away before for something like this. Do you think I would now?”
“No! No.” You rapidly shake your head, “I want to be transparent with you. I want you to be aware of the things I do. I don’t want you to be blindsided by anything.”
“I appreciate that, sis.” Ekko smiles at you, “But, unfortunately for you, you’re stuck with me no matter what you do.” He shoves you playfully. You laugh and shove him back. You gaze out at the waterfall in silence, watching as the leaves of the tree sway in the wind.
“Oh, Jinx and Sevika live here now.” You chuckle, “So, don’t be surprised if you see them around here.”
“Are you sure that’s a good decision? What if they try to kill each other?”
“They won’t. The worst they could do is annoy the hell out of each other. They’re… sort of starting to get along. I won’t say they are there yet more so tolerating, but I did  hear them agree on something for the first time last night.”
“If you can get them to be civil, then you really are made of magic.” Ekko jokes. You laugh together before he clears his throat.
“…What… happened with Vi?” Ekko asks nervously, “She wasn’t there last night.” A wave of grief and anger washes over you, causing you to grit your teeth.
“She chose that… piltie over her own sister.” You hiss, “After everything we’ve been through. After everything she’s been through! She doesn’t want to fight.” You glare at the railing. You couldn’t wrap your head around it. You couldn’t. How could she choose that… bitch over everyone?
“What?!” Ekko physically recoils like he’s been hit, “Vi chose that piltie over us?! Her people. Her family?! Fuck, I knew it. She’s lost her way... That makes her a traitor.” He says coldly. ‘A traitor, huh? I guess it does. She’s given up her culture. Her home. Her family… Me. It hurts to think about the betrayal. I don’t even want to accept it.’
“Yeah.” You chuckle darkly, “Yeah, it does.” Ekko grips your shoulder before pulling you into a hug. You close your eyes to keep the tears in. After a few seconds, you back up and give your brother a thankful smile, the hint of sadness still heavy in the air.
“I should get you back to the Firelights. They’ll be worried when they realize their precious leader is  gone.” You smirk. He scoffs and punches your shoulder.
“Shut up.” Ekko grumbles. You laugh and motion to the rift you opened.
“Come with me to say goodbye?” Ekko shuffles his feet, “You’ll be missed, you know.”
“I’ll come to let them know I’m leaving, but I’ll still visit.” You grin and walk through with him. It’s not long before you’re found by Heather and Zyn who enthusiastically greet you. Ekko has enough time to wave you off before you’re dragged away. You snort as Heather sits you down on her bed and fixes you with a stern stare.
“Explain yourself.” Heather says firmly.
“You nearly gave me a heart attack when I went looking for you, and you were gone.” Zyn says in exasperation.
“Especially after you were told to stay!” Heather scolds you and you groan.
“Okay, but sit down. I’m going to explain everything to you, not just why I left.” You relent. Your friends glance at each other before sitting down, patiently waiting for your explanation.
You explain everything to your two best friends in the Firelights. You talk about your childhood, meeting Vi and Powder, and how you grew up. You choke up as you talk about the heist in Piltover and what happened after it. They burst into tears with you when you got to the explosion so you took a short break before continuing with the bittersweet story. Then, it was to the point of no return. You brought up Umbra, how you had found them the day they got surrounded by Enforcers and showed off your magic. Your knives circled in the air, flying around you before returning to their sheaths. From there, you had to wait for them to calm down. You had laughed at Heather’s enthusiasm while Zyn nearly fainted. Telling the rest to them was easy after that. They accepted it in stride and asked dozens of questions.
“So, that’s how you nearly impaled me last night!” Heather accuses you. You laugh nervously and nod your head.
“Yeah, I think it has something to do with it.”
“Wait, you nearly stabbed her?!” Zyn gasps.
“Oh, I didn’t tell you, did I?” Heather blinks.
“Damn right you didn’t!” Zyn shouts, exasperated. A knock sounds at the door and Heather gets up to answer it. Scar’s face greets you as he explains that Ekko sent him. There was a meeting in the Hive and we were all being called down to attend. ‘This must be him telling everyone about the war… and my departure from the group.’
You all head down together as you answer more questions from them. When you get to the door, you realize that all of the team leaders were there. ‘This is definitely going to be about my declaration of war.’ You take a deep breath and walk in. You’re greeted politely as you walk around and position yourself next to your brother. He gives you an encouraging smile before clapping his hands.
“So, I have all of us gathered right now for a very important reason.” Ekko starts, “Some of you may already know after last night, but Zaun and Piltover will be going to war.” All of the team leaders start firing questions but Ekko raises his hand. They go quiet and he nods to you.
“This has been a plan in the making for some time. I announced during the Pitfall Day opening that steps have been taken to kick it off. You don’t have to participate but you’ve been preparing for this. Our fighters, healers, blacksmiths, mechanics, intelligence, and even our gardeners. All of you.” You stress to them.
“Hawk will be leaving the Firelights.” Ekko places his hand on your shoulder, “My sister is the reason that this is possible, and she has a bigger role to play in this. She’s become Zaun’s new leader… So she won’t be fighting as a part of our group, but she will still be welcomed. I want everyone in the amphitheater at sundown and ready for a briefing.  We start preparations now… Any objections?”
“Fuck Piltover!” Healer Jane shouts.
“Yeah, fuck Piltover!” Heather joins in. The others start to chime in and animatedly talk about how this war will change everything. Everyone expresses that they’re sad to see you go, but they’re happy for you. Healer Jane scolds you for disappearing but affectionately pats your head in silent praise and tells you to visit. Ekko pulls you aside and you stand there staring at each other.
“This is it, little brother.” You say with a grin.
“So it would seem, sis.” Ekko returns the grin and extends his hand, “For us. For the Firelights. For Zaun. For the Brackern.”
“Piltover will pay.” You grasp his hand tightly, “For all of it.”
“Take care of yourself out there.”
“You won’t lose me anytime soon.”
“Good… I love you, sissy.”
“I love you too, Kiko. Once my group is settled, I’ll open a rift in the gateway. Don’t get too excited by my absence, okay?” You tease him.
“Never.” Ekko grins.
After the meeting with the Firelights, you decided to go into the city. For a city that never sleeps, it was practically deserted this morning. At least to the untrained eye. Even though the shops were all locked up and houses seemed eerily quiet and abandoned, the people were working intensely behind the scenes. You slipped into a few shops to see their owners working away or asleep at their workstations. The citizens had celebrated harder than they have before, after getting the news that they would be going to war. It was heartwarming to see.
You were a witness to some visitors stepping out of the drop shoot just to see that everything was closed. Their shocked faces were a great source of amusement for you. There were signs indicating that none of the stores would be open until the evening due to a local holiday. Since Pitfall Day hadn’t been commemorated in over five years, visitors weren’t aware of this fact so it should be ongoing until the shops open up.
You’re leisurely walking down Main Street towards the direction of Singed’s hideout when you hear the pounding of metal boots. You pause and turn around to see a large group of Enforcers marching through the streets. You duck into an alleyway and hide in the shadows. You clench your hand into a tight fist to keep yourself from lunging forward.
“Where the fuck is everyone?!” One of them shouts out while looking around the area. You tilt your head and walk closer to them, counting in your head to soothe your bloody urge.
“Hey, there’s a sign here.” Another one says as they step close to one of the shops, “It says they’re opening this afternoon.”
“Oddly convenient after what happened last night.” The same one from before spits out.
“It's some kind of local holiday. Maybe Jinx just took the chance since everyone was distracted.” You grin maniacally and your clothes shift into one of your more revealing dresses of the brothel. ‘Thank you to the previous monsters who blooded my clothes. I wouldn’t have learned I could do this if I didn’t ruin them.’
“Hello there!” You giggle as you sashay over to the group of disgusting monsters. They snap their heads in your direction and you see the reflection of yourself in their visors.
“Halt!” One of them says firmly. You stop walking and pout dramatically while crossing your arms.
“Where are you coming from?” They say harshly while stepping forward. You grit your teeth and take a deep breath. ‘It would do us no good if a squad of enforcers were murdered down here. Not now.’
“Heading home after a long night of work.” You smile teasingly, “My customers are quite insatiable. Especially after last night. The holiday put everyone in a great mood.” You purr, fluttering your lashes.
“We don’t care about your… illicit activities. Where is Jinx?!”
“Sex work isn’t an illicit activity. It never has been. You Piltovens think you’re too high and mighty for simple pleasures.” You scowl and cross your arms.
“Where is Jinx?! I won’t repeat myself again!” You flinch and look around in fake panic.
“Don’t say her name!” You hiss, “You’ll get me killed! Jinx is a menace to the Undercity. Everyone hates her here. The last time anyone spotted her was yesterday making her way to the bridge. I want no part of this.” You glare and start to walk past them when one of them grabs your wrist. You freeze and desperately hold back a growl. The urge to lash out is overwhelming. ‘Control yourself. Control yourself.’
‘Breathe, Hexxit. Breathe. Don’t jeopardize your own plans, my child. Focus.’ Your eyes widen but you take a deep breath to steady yourself. Umbra’s voice comforts you and gives you the emotional space you need to hold yourself back.
“If you want some alone time, all you have to do is ask.” You wink at the one holding your wrist. Your other hand pats them on the shoulder. The monster practically throws your arm back at you.
“Leave!” They snarl and you don’t say anything as you saunter away. You turn a corner and glare hatefully in their direction. You twist your wrist and an explosion goes off.
‘Hexxit.’ Umbra scolds you.
‘Relax, Umbra. None of them got hurt. It was just a smoke bomb I borrowed from Jinx.’ You hum.
‘You’re going to send me to an early grave, child.’ She sighs. You giggle and continue your journey to Singed’s place. Jinx told you where it was and said that he wouldn’t know that Silco has been killed until tonight. The man rarely left his compound and preferred to have everything brought to him. Be it shipments of produce and paraphernalia to information he missed, he really was the neighbourhood shut in. His next shipment of things was supposed to be tonight, so you have to make your move now.
You raise an eyebrow at the open door but continue inside as you go invisible. The area was neat but messy in a way that shows someone uses the space. Chemicals were in various bottles and tubes and you furrow your brow at the giant creature in a tank. You frown as you follow the tubes around the room. ‘Shimmer.’ You hiss in disgust. ‘He’s the man responsible for our community downfall and despair. He doesn’t care about us. He only cares about his experiments. He’s too dangerous to be kept alive.’ You pause when you hear footsteps and turn to see the man Jinx described. You grit your teeth as your hand twitches. He walks past you and takes a seat at his desk without so much as a glance your way. You watch as he places unopened vials of shimmer on his desk and moves to another area.
You stare at the vials and they vanish. You smile darkly and approach the man as he turns back to his desk with a burner.
“What?” You hear him mumble. He moves items around frantically as he looks for the missing vials. You place your hand on his shoulder and he freezes.
“Hello, Singed.” You whisper. You feel his shoulder tense under your hand and smirk to yourself. You turn him around and force him farther into his chair. His eye zips around wildly like he’s looking for something.
“Who’s there?!” He demands, his eye still frantically looking around.
“Apologies.” You hum and let your invisibility fade away slowly becoming visible to the naked eye, “It’s nice to finally meet the man who created Shimmer.” You pat his cheek tauntingly. He recoils from your touch and gives you a searching look.
“Who are you?” He asks.
“Me? I’m Silco’s replacement!” You chirp and slowly start to circle him, “Unfortunately, there’s no use for you. I can’t have any loose ends. I hope you understand.”
“Silco’s replacement? You’re nothing but a child.” Singed scoffs.
“That says a lot about Silco, doesn’t it?” You giggle manically, “So, a little Jinx told me that you’re not actually a Zaunite. She told me all about your… goals and desires. You ruined our home. That makes you my enemy.” You focus your gaze on him and his eyes widen. You give him a toothy grin as you hold your hand out.
“I was simply doing what needed to be done. You wouldn’t understand the sacrifices that need to be made for progress.”
“Sacrifices for progress?” You tilt your head as blue fire flares to life around you, “That’s what you are, Singed. A sacrifice for progress. To make the Undercity a safer place and to get your disgusting drug out of our streets.” You laugh and clap your hands together.
“It’s been fun! I’m afraid these chemicals won’t react well to my fire, so I’ll be heading out.” You hum and head for the door, “You on the other hand won’t have a chance to escape. Isn’t magic wonderful?” Singed screams at you as you leave but you pay him no mind. You turn and watch as the fire builds before raising your hand. ‘This isn’t just for those who lost their loved ones to shimmer. This is for Jinx too.’
“…Boom.” You parrot your best friend. Not even a second later, you watch as the building explodes. The blue fire and smoke comforts you in your decision. A chain reaction of explosion goes off, confirming the reaction with the chemicals. ‘Goodbye, Singed.’ You glance at the vials of shimmer in your hand. ‘I need to get these to Renata.’
When you decide to rift back to the Rapids, you find yourself appearing behind everyone. Loud yelling is the first thing you hear and you realize that they’re arguing. Jinx and Sevika have matching glares on their faces but you can’t see the other girls. You slowly walk closer to them and make eye contact with Sevika who scowls and crosses her arms.
“All I’m saying is that it’s impossible for a tree to grow down here!” You hear Jin shout.
“It wouldn’t be impossible if the very air we breathe wasn’t toxic!” Jinx snarls, “I wonder who’s to blame for it? Oh, thats right it was YOUR people!”
“We apologized for that last night! What the hell do you want from us?!” Ves spits back.
“Apologize?” Sevika scoffs, “Your apology doesn’t fix anything. We don’t care about what you have to say. It’s what you do that matters and you’ve done a whole ton of fuck-all.”
“What do you expect us to do?! We don’t know anything about what’s going on down here! We came for our friend!” Nicki protests.
“Your friend? Oh that’s rich! You didn’t even know where she’s been the past six years! How can you call yourself her friend when she doesn’t even trust you enough to tell you her real name?” Jinx scoffs. The group falls silent as Sevika rolls her eyes. The silence stretches on for a while and you take the time to watch the water fall into the lake.
“Welcome back, Hexxit.” Sevika says respectfully, “How was your morning with your brother?” Shouts of surprise come from the other girls as Jinx grins at you. You blink at the startled group of girls as you approach them. You stand in the middle of Jinx and Sevika, leaning up against the railing while they gape at you.
“WHEN DID YOU GET HERE?!” Jin shrieks. You tilt your head and raise an eyebrow at her. The others nod their heads furiously in agreement with her words.
“We didn’t even hear you approach!” Lacie’s eyes go wide.
“A minute ago.” You shrug causally, “So, why were you guys arguing about the tree?”
“Because it shouldn’t be here!” Jin says in exasperation, “It should not be physically possible for a weeping willow tree to be anywhere in this area!”
“A weeping willow tree?” You frown, “Why wouldn’t it be here?”
“Weeping willows grow along the coast just north of Piltover. They need very specific conditions to grow, and they’ve never grown anywhere below the city before. People have tried but they all failed to grow, especially to this height!” Jin rambles, “It’s at least… what? A hundred feet tall?!”
“When Jin pointed out that it’s a weeping willow, we couldn’t figure out how it managed to grow down here. The roots are completely waterlogged so it should be absorbing too much water.” Ves sighs.
“Yeah, and when I tried to explain that to those two,” Jin motions to them, “they got angry and started saying shit about us being from Piltover.” You give Jinx and Sevika the side eye and they both shrug. Jinx signing to you that what they said sounded very derogatory and that’s why they reacted. You nod.
“You used your magic to grow this, right?” Chrissy finally speaks up. You nod your head.
“It was a sapling I took from a tree. When it was time, I used my magic to speed up its growth until it became what it is now. I knew it looked different from the tree I got it from, but I didn’t mind it.” You shrug.
“Are you going to gloss over the fact that your friends attacked us for no reason?!” Megan snarls. A stab of annoyance flits through you.
“No. I’m not, but you better fucking watch your tone with me, Megan. These friends of mine have been through more shit than you can dare to imagine.” You glare at her and she shrinks back, “I must have been a misunderstanding in communication, and I’m sorry for what they said.. but they’re right. You’re from Piltover so you don’t understand what we’ve been through and how we struggle.”
“Can’t they speak for themselves?” Megan huffs and crosses her arms. ‘Code. Leader takes responsibility for diplomatic issues.’ You can practically feel the anger rolling off of the two next to you.
“But you have magic! You grew a tree! How can you struggle with an ability like that?” Nicki furrows her brow. When you step forward, you feel Jinx grab your hand as Sevika’s grabs your shoulder. Both of their grips are tight and shows that you’re not the only one who needs restraint right now.
“How can I struggle with magic?” You hiss darkly, “I had to die in order to be given this gift. I didn’t always have it and it sure as hell doesn’t solve all of my problems.” A deep growl rumbles in your chest, until you feel Jinx rub the ice cream tattoo on your wrist. ‘Safe. Calm. I’m here.’ You take a deep breath.
“You’ve got us!” You hear Jinx chirp from behind you, “We’re going to bring Piltover’s stuck-up councilors to their knees!” She cackles. You smile at her before looking back at the group in front of you.
“You have a lot to learn. You said you were willing to help, but you have to realize that the divide between our cities is worse than you saw last night.” You say firmly.
“But-!” Lacie is cut off.
“-We’re sorry. You’re right, there’s a lot we don’t know. I can only tell so much from the archives, and that’s different than in person.” Chrissy says softly while glaring at her friends, “Speaking of that. You mentioned the war, but how are you going to do this?”
“I’m glad you asked.” You smile at her, “I’m creating my own group of fighters who will be the lead team. They’ll be vital to the success of my plans. I already have a group of girls who have stepped forward to be my main team. They helped me out greatly these past few years, and I trust them with my life.”
“We can help too.” Nicki steps forward as well, “We discussed it last night, and you would have people on the inside.”
“What would you do about your families?” Sevika asks casually, “I doubt you’d want them to die in a war.”
“As long as we get a warning, we can get them out of Piltover until it’s done.” Jin says confidently. Jinx and Sevika huff, making you smirk to yourself.
“Don’t worry.” You smile innocently, “They’ll find out what it means to be a Zaunite in time.” The girls exchange uneasy glances with each other. You glance at Jinx and Sevika and wink at them.
“Chrissy. You and the girls need to leave. They’re already searching for Jinx, so they’ll need you topside. If you’re missing, they might freak out even more. I’ll contact you when it’s time to come down again or I can even come get you.” You gesture towards a rift that’s opening. Chrissy rushes forward and gives you a tight hug. You blink and tentatively hug her back.
“I’m so happy you’re okay, Berry. I know you probably didn’t tell me everything, and that’s okay. I’m going to try my best to learn what you went through.” Chrissy whispers before letting you go with a smile.
“Come on girls!” Chrissy shouts before running into the rift. You smile fondly as she does. ‘Chrissy always believed in me. When no one wanted to try, she did. It’s amazing to hear that she still does.’
‘She’s a friend you must keep. My child, you should be honest with her, even if you tell no one else from her group. Do not lose her.’
‘After all of these years? I don’t think I could even if I tried. She’s always been persistent.’
“Excuse me?” A soft voice sounds from next to you. You turn and make eye contact with another girl. You narrow your eyes slightly at all of the whispering people watching you.
“Yes?” You say dully.
“Do you have a partner for the duet challenge?” She sits in the open seat by you.
“No.” You shift slightly uncomfortably, “I don’t.”
“I’ll be your partner then!” The girl chirps, “My name is Chrissy! What’s yours?” She extends her hand. You glance down at it and back at her. The grin on her face doesn’t waver as she stares at you.
“…Berry.” You say after some time. ‘She hasn’t retracted her hand yet.’ You huff and lightly shake her hand.
“It’s nice to meet you, Berry! So, what kind of dance is your favorite? I’m a huge fan of jazz!” Chrissy starts rambling and you roll your eyes. When you turn forward, you make eye contact with Professor Uley who raises an eyebrow at you. He motions to Chrissy as a small smile appears on his face. You give him an exasperated look.
“Help me.” You mouth to him. A mischievous look shines in his eyes.
“Berry!” Professor Uley calls, “It’s your turn!”
“Actually, Professor, I’m doing the routine with her.” Chrissy replies before you can escape.
“Excellent!” Professor Uley claps, “It’ll be a great experience for you both!”
“Traitor.” You quietly hiss at him as you pass. He only gives you a positive and assuring smile.

In an alternative verse where Silco or Vander could be barren (Maybe because of Zaun's toxic fumes/environment). How would you imagine Silco and Vander ending up with Viktor, Claggor and Mylo?
Just curious to know your take on it or if it was the same as how Mylo and Claggor was found/adooyed by Vander in the show.
I know I've mentioned somewhere that I'm fully aware that this verse does not need mpreg and/or omegaverse to work. It can absolutely be done with them just adopting all the kids.
I do think Claggor and Mylo are found and brought home by Vander. They are adopted after the girls, and in this verse in particular Silco starts having his time split between Piltover and Zaun because of gaining the political position while Vander is still almost entirely based in Zaun and is somewhat more dealing with trying to solve the issues in Zaun (while Silco is more just trying to ensure they at least profit from them).
Also I like the idea of Silco coming back home after a busy day to another kid at the dining room table and basically pulling Vander into a side room to have a conversation that while yes, of course, they’re going to keep the boy, they also aren’t going to adopt every orphan in Zaun. Only for Vander to show up a couple months later with another one.
For Viktor they were both there when they found him and decided to adopt him. IDK maybe they’re the ones to find his parents bodies (died from natural causes) and while there are a lot of orphans in Zaun they can’t help but feel like they need to ensure Viktor is taken care of as a result. One thing leading to another and he’s their kid now (which you know many years later when they realise just how bright he is they realise how good of a decision it was to take him in even though at the time they weren’t ideally placed to have a child).
