19.Ship that you never expected to ship?

that's a good one. this answer may surprise some of you, but it's probably my now beloved and among my most favorite ships: Thomally.

when i got into the fandom last spring, there was no trace of thomally anywere - or at least nothing that ever found its way to me. i don't know if this sounds stupid, but it kind of feels like i found my way to them... on my own?

like, i obviously kept seeing thomas and gally interact everywhere in all of the hilarious incorrect tmr quotes that keep floating around tumblr and the rest of the internet looking at you pinterest, and i just... kept having these... Ideas? the first people i mentioned this to really don't like that ship and it even made them a bit squicky i think, so i was kinda on my own with my hmmmmmmmm i might just have to write that one day OOPS, HELL HERE I COME.

i then took to searching the thomally tag on tumblr, and found a first few fics, i remember a short tumblr ficlet in specific that really nailed the coffin shut above me.

and then, i must have looked for thomally fanfic n ao3? because i found my way to always free for you, and through my obsessive need to prove thomally actually were endgame in that fic, i found clod. and then i met dee, not soon after, and, idek how to describe that time, it was exhilarating and the founding stone of my thomally family was set.

- that was also the time i wrote mirrorball, or with its actual title drunk as you watch my shattered edges glisten which clod so sweetly beta-ed and encouraged and indulged me in.

lots of love for you, dee and clod (@graeae and @un-ah ), and all the thomally fans i met along the way. it's such fun to be among you, and i'm amazed at all of the content and thoughts we've set into the world for this wonderful ship.
