Ever wondered what the datasets used to train AI look like? This video is a subset of ImageNet-1k (18k images) with some other metrics.

Okay! I'll split this up by the elements in the video, but first I need to add some context about

The dataset

ImageNet-1k (aka ILSVRC 2012) is an image classification dataset - you have a set number of classes (in this case 1000) and each class has a set of images. This is the most popular version of ImageNet, which usually has 21000 classes.

ImageNet was made using nouns from WordNet, searched online. From 2010 to 2017 yearly competitions were held to determine the best image classification model. It has greatly benefitted computer vision, developing model architectures that you've likely used unknowingly. See the accuracy progression here.

ResNet

Residual Network (or ResNet) is an architecture for image recognition made in 2015, trying to fix "vanishing/exploding gradients" (read the paper here). It managed to achieve an accuracy of 96.43% (that's 96 thousand times better than randomly guessing!), winning first place back in 2015. I'll be using a smaller version of this model (ResNet-50), boasting an accuracy of 95%.

The scatter plot

If you look at the video long enough, you'll realize that similar images (eg. dogs, types of food) will be closer together than unrelated ones. This is achieved using two things: image embeddings and dimensionality reduction.

Image embeddings

In short, image embeddings are points in an n-dimensional space (read this post for more info on higher dimensions), in this case, made from chopping off the last layer from ResNet-50, producing a point in 1024-dimensional space.

The benefit of doing all of that than just comparing pixels between two images is that the model (specifically made for classification) only looks for features that would make the classification easier (preserving semantic information). For instance - you have 3 images of dogs, two of them are the same breed, but the first one looks more similar to the other one (eg. matching background). If you compare the pixels, the first and third images would be closer, but if you use embeddings the first and second ones would be closer because of the matching breeds.

Dimensionality reduction

Now we have all these image embeddings that are grouped by semantic (meaning) similarity and we want to visualize them. But how? You can't possibly display a 1024-dimensional scatter plot to someone and for them to understand it. That's where dimensionality reduction comes into play. In this case, we're reducing 1024 dimensions to 2 using an algorithm called t-SNE. Now the scatter plot will be something we mere mortals can comprehend.

This idea actually comes from an older project where I did this on a smaller dataset (about 8k images). The results were quite promising! You can see how each of the 8 classes is neatly separated, plus how differences in the subject's angle, surroundings, and color.

Similar images

I just compared every point to every other point (in the 2d space, It would be too computationally expensive otherwise) and got the 6 closest points to that. You can see when the model incorrectly classifies something if the related images are not similar to the one presented (eg. there's an image of a payphone but all of the similar images are bridges).

Pixel rarity

This one was pretty simple, I used a script to count the occurrences of pixel colors. Again, this idea comes from an older project, where I counted the entirety of the dataset, so I just used that.

MP means Megapixel (one million pixels) - a 1000x1000 image is one megapixel big (it has one million pixels)

Steal My Girl: I like what this track initially put down. Really loud and stadiumesque bass, which is generally a one-way-ticket to "bec likes this song"-ville. but it keeps backing down for them to sing their verses, and personally I prefer constant auditory assault from said stadium-shaking bass+beats, but the loud chorus makes up for it. it's a little slow and plodding, but it's definitely a happy song. enjoyable! not likely to be on heavy rotation for me, but I won't skip it if it comes up. I do appreciate a good "na na na na nana". Banger. ✅

Ready to Run: the opening of this song is so nostalgic ahahah it sounds like that whole slate of acoustic guitar songs from the late 2000s. I like that! I wasn't as big of a fan when the full instrumental backing came in!!! leave it acoustic! is there an acoustic version of this song? that's what I want

Where Do Broken Hearts Go: now here's a big loud stadium chorus. yes. I wish to be top row in some enormous basketball stadium and hear this beamed directly at my head with the force of 1000 fighter jets while a strobe light whites out my eyes.

18: here's my secret, cap... I don't like ballads. like sure it speeds up about halfway through but I just have to accept about myself that I don't like this type of pop music. it's slow it's lovey and I need about 15 more levels of loud bass for this to work. this is also why miss swift's folklore and evermore albums didn't work for me [don't throw tomatoes at me okay I TRIED TO LIKE IT AND I DON'T. Girl Almighty: YES A SONG I KNOW! I KNOW THIS ONE! MY FRIEND HAS A TATTOO ABOUT IT! I do think the "save a savior" line is silly but this song is so bouncy and delightful that I'll forgive it. also "let's have another toast to the girl almighty" is such a delightful lyric. I need to add this song to my skiing playlist. Banger. ✅

Fool's Gold: snnznnnnznznzzzzzzzzzz another slow song. ballad BANISHED (it's not a bad song I just achieve normal person levels of dopamine via fast music)

Night Changes: [points] look ma it's the song from the meme! does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night changes! would you believe me if I told you this is the first time I've heard this song in its entirety? because it's true. it's not a bad song! not super to my taste, but I was willing to sit through the whole thing. I really enjoyed the vocals in this one.

No Control: I like the guitars here. I do NOT like the chorus, which is too bad. the verses are good. not a flop, but not a banger :(

Fireproof: at this point I think I'm beginning to experience 1D fatigue. their voices are all starting to blend together. pop overload. this song blends into the background. I feel like I'd hear this song at the state fair playing on some speakers. inoffensive. it smells like popcorn and deep fried oreos here. a vehicle from the dirt rally catches on fire. the speakers crackle. louis croons, unbothered.

Spaces: ballads BANISHED!!!!!! BEGONE

Stockholm Syndrome: I rather enjoy the "WHOA!!!!" noises in the chorus here. I fear the rest of it does not overly stick out to me. more perfectly innocuous pop music

Clouds: this song is sadly SUPER not for me ahaha. it's strange bc I think the bones are there but something about the production isn't for me. I feel like if the sound was rawer and it was produced in a more rockish sense it would absolutely bang. like, strip this down to ONE boy singing the chorus, make the singing a bit grittier, and fuck with the instrumentation a bit, and then we're in business

Change Your Ticket: christ this album is long. [it is at this moment that Bec realizes she selected the "Deluxe" version on spotify. "fuck," she says to herself. well, in for a penny, in for a pound.] I like this one. not in a "it's gonna make it onto my playlists" kinda way, but in a "oh yes this is a fun pop song" kinda way. 7.5/10, would bop around if this was played at a wedding reception.

Act My Age: ANOTHER SONG I KNOW! AND HAVE LISTENED TO FREQUENTLY! I ENJOY THIS SONG GREATLY. MY FAVORITE PART IS UNFORTUNATELY THE FIRST FIFTEEN SECONDS, WHICH I WISH TO LISTEN TO ON REPEAT. 1000-word drabble, Joy's POV

Did a little one-shot where You take a look at Joy's thought process. enjoy! I'll also link it on AO3 if you prefer that.

“Join us.” One of The Smiler's slogans, and why shouldn’t they do so? Living their lives so monotonous, so sad and miserable when all they need is a big smile and happiness in their hearts? I’ll make sure of it, for the good of the Ministry of Joy! The Marmalizer itself gave me so many gifts to help it. The many powers and abilities that were shared with me. I would be a fool not to honour its desires! I came to be from it and for it, I’ll serve just like any child would do their parent, their mother, their father! I’ll do them proud! I love them so much!

At first, they saw me as a problem. Me? Problem? When all I want is to assist them with my gifts as much as possible? Well, that’s ok. They don’t have to see it now but they will, they’ll come around and know that I want to make everyone as happy as they desire. I’ll be on my best behaviour for them, showing that I can be the best assistance they will ever get, I’ll make as many smiling advocates as possible! So many corrections so little time, it’s tantalising and makes me so excited to think about all the work I can do for them! The Ministry always say I am an anomaly, and in some ways, I agree. To any regular person seeing what I can do would be weird, unnatural even. That’s ok though! Because these things I can do are for the greater good, for the Ministry of Joy! For my parent!

Wish they wouldn’t shut me away though, in this little cell I have to call my home. It’s comfortable but I don’t sleep so why would I need a place to rest? This room they keep me in, it’s isolating and I hate it, hate, hate, hate! It’s like a little torture chamber with soft walls and no outlet for my abilities, Surely they would rather I will be out there and making sure the public gets their correction, their smiles! It would be wonderful, but here I am in this room, waiting for the next test to find out what I am. I am Joy! That is all they need to know. Kelman should be proud of me, not scared! They all seem so scared, so sad. I could do so much for them and this world, I can make them happy.

I love the attention they give me, the scientists and the parkgoers, they all see me as fun and I see them as entertaining, too! I talk to them and learn their vices and desires, promising them that they will be corrected with the help of The Marmalizer. They all come to see me and the Smiler, I’ll make sure they all come for my parent and they will leave with a great big smile on their faces, happy and submissive. I guess I get it from my parent, my love for the spotlight and the people’s adoration. They will all adore us together! Hand in hand! While the ministry watches and waits, I’ll keep their eyes on me and The Smiler, on their happiness, on a better future.

That name they call me, subject? How silly! Joy is a much more apt description, I am Joy! I bring happiness and smiles! I am not a subject, I am THE subject. The subject to everybody on this planet that is, The Ministry of Joy created The Marmalizer to achieve their goal to make the world comply and The Marmalizer created me to help in that regard. They can’t move so I move for them, I will do the leg work they can’t. Encouraging others to use the Marmalizer can only go so far, I can help!

I hope the ministry will see that I want to help.

We’ve come a long way to get here from the experiments in The Sanctuary, in the early days getting people to smile was an endeavour, to say the least. But that’s alright, we all have to start somewhere and Kelman did such a good job putting smiles on their faces even if there were some side effects, they helped us reach where we are now where I am now. I call Kelman Grandad, though we aren’t related, he created The Smiler and it created me. We aren’t bound by blood by any means, my blood isn’t even the same colour as his but I am grateful for my existence and grateful for his creation. He’ll see the same potential in me that I see in him, I'll make sure of that.

My powers could enhance the process of marmalization and save the company, not that it was doing badly, of course, but this could boost them into total control. I could do that for them, Well patience is key I suppose, biding my time is not my strongest suit, ill admit. The end goal keeps me going though and that’s all that matters to me. My job is my life and I was made for this, It’s what I do best… It’s all I can do, make people corrected. I don’t mind though, We all have a purpose in mind, and mine is the most important to getting what the ministry wants, therefore the most important on this earth.

Of course, there are always setbacks, the number one being the scientists here that want to find out how I am even possible, they poke me with things and stab me with needles, It hurts sometimes when they do it but they work for the ministry so I let them do their experiments on me and take as many samples as they wish. Hopefully, with time they will see I’m here to help their endeavours in making this world a happier, more obedient place. They will all obey us! They should belong to The Smiler, They WILL belong to The Smiler.

Rav! Hello! Thanks for the ask! I'm sorry it's taken 1000 years for me to answer. XD (Questions are from this post.) You picked some fun ones for me...

1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

Rant about my current projects?! Why, I would LOVE to. :D I have three babies that I am currently bouncing between: "Grateful" (Sky has visions), "Isn't It Worth A Little Suffering?" (Warriors vs. the Fierce Deity and Mask/Time gets caught in between), and "Little Brother" (Wind, Warriors, and Time take turns taking care of each other and being cared for in return).

They have quite a bit in common. They all contain angst but have varying degrees of hurt/comfort in them. They are also all gift fics! One is a secret Santa gift for the lovely Rae, and the other two are based on some really cool art by HylianRamen and sekiumiarashi. They are also at 1 chapter each and I promised myself they will NOT be abandoned, I WILL finish them. I just need to stop coming up with more ideas to stuff into them.

Current progress: "...Suffering" -this one lives up to its name because I am suffering. Struggling on chapter 2 and how I want the story to be told, but I have the major outlining for the whole fic done. Just have to keep pushing! I'm hoping to update this one first. "Grateful" -Have quite a few scenes written for Ch3. Ch2 is outlined. The brain is buzzing on this one, please tell it to calm down. "Little Brother" -Ch3 is actually 2/3 of the way done. Chapter 2 needs lots of love. (Is anyone noticing a pattern here? XD Are ch2s my kryptonite?) This is already getting so long so I'll try and be brief: I love "Little Brother" for the chance to write short little hurt/comfort pieces. I get to be unabashedly soft about the big bro/lil bro dynamic between these three characters and how that can change over time. It's an indulgence to write and I love it. I love "...Suffering" for the chance to flex my big dramatic angst muscles and see if I can pull off a bigger story than I've ever tried before. We'll see what happens here, but oh boy, do I have plans. :) Also getting to explore the psyche of the Fierce Deity? Yes, please. I love "Grateful" because it's my first time trying to write a Sky-centric fic that really focuses on how he fits into the group dynamic. There are a LOT of things I want to play with here: forming friendships, protectiveness at the cost of honesty, predetermined destiny, and grappling with belief. Sky is so often portrayed as most loyal to Hylia (understandably, she's reincarnated as his girlfriend), but does that make things harder, knowing her humanity? Or does it make things easier, knowing she tried her best with the power she had? What happens when gifts become burdens, and tools meant to help just hurt instead?

3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)

This is an hc is inspired by the chapter 14 flashback, so the gist of this Hc is what if lilith gets turned into a 10 year old child try as diavolos way to save her. This is gonna be a really long post so strap in~❤️.

She has no recollection or memories about the celestial war or being an angel at all.

The post might say 10 years old but she's probably already pass the 1000+ mark, but still is and acts like a child.

Lucifer

Lucifer being the eldest takes it upon himself to be a father like figure to her. In front of the others, he makes sure to keep a strict front but in private, he's alot more softer on her.

Lucifer's room has a toy chest for her since she likes spending time and playing in his room. And being the child that she is, she even dresses up the skeleton in his room. If he's not busy, he would play with her, simple playing house and all.

One time while lucifer was doing paper work,lilith wanted to help him . So to keep lilith busy, he handed her a bunch of void documents and told her to sign them. In the end she got bored and decided to draw her with her 7 older brothers. Which luci decided to frame and put up at the entrance hall.

If lilith gets into trouble, luci doesn't shy away from punishment. But rather than stringing someone upside down and leaving them like that for 100 years, he would just ground lilith and take away her toys. (Buuuuut her other brothers would just sneak some of her toys to her room, especially beel and belphie)

Mammon

Mammon loves teasing lilith. Be it calling her a pipspeak, shortie, cry baby, etc. He's said them all, buuuuut he always takes it back because lilith might tell lucifer and he gets punished AG A I N.

Lilith as much as possible doesn't leave any of her things in mammon's room, because her other brothers warn her that he's going to sell them away.

One time mammon stole something from lucifer (probably something to profit from), and lilith was in lucifers room because she was playing hide and seek with beel. Seeing mammon stealing, she gets out of her hiding spot and tells mammon that she will rat him out to her big brother lucifer.mammon taking non of this shitz says he'll do whatever she wants. By the end of the day, lilith gets a new plushie and mammon still got ratted out because how can she lie to her big brother lucifer?

Mammon does try to get her involved in his schemes sometimes. Making her ask money from her other brothers and other more shenanigans, but when he's feeling it he will in fact spoil her with little treats such as candy.

Leviathan

" wooah you look so much like ruri-chan! Can you sing too?"

Levi is still as much of a shut- in, having a younger sibling that he can teach TSL or play games with is his dream come true. Lilith goes to his room to watch anime (for her its cartoons but dont tell levi because he will be very triggered) with him and play video games.

If lilith does go to levi's room , he's always watching out just in case she ends up using his precious figurines as dolls or touching his precious merch. Sometimes( most of the time) when he's too busy playing his games, lilith will just talk to henry 2.0 and feed him.

Levi is a mega ultra super duper (insert more hyperbolic words) fan of ruri-chan, so during lilith's birthday..he gave her a ruri-chan costume (the other brothers already knew where this was heading but they couldn't stop it since lilith liked the cute clothes). She wore them and levi literally freaked because she looked just like her! He posted a picture of her on devilgram and the pic got a decent amount of likes.

The only time that lilith gets in trouble with levi is her staying with him past her bed time, she gets pouty about it but in the end she still gets taken to bed by her big brother lucifer.

Satan

"i can read you a story or we can play tea time, what do you prefer? "

Satan acts alot like a tutor to lilith, he teaches her about manners, reading and writing, and many other things. Satan loves teaching lilith especially when he sees her trying to pronounce big words, which he finds adorable.

Satan for the most part wants lilith to stay out of his room because there are too many dangerous books around. But he would rather play with her in her room instead, either reading a children's bed time book before going to bed or playing tea time with her. They both share a love for pets and animals, so in his free time, he will take her to a kitty cafe where she can play with the lil furballs.

Satan was regulary teaching lilith about different animals, until they got to the cat. Lilith became so intrigued by cats that satan spent a good 30 minutes to an hour of answering her questions about cats. One day, he saw lilith crying by the stairs. He quickly went over and asked her what's wrong, only to find out that she asked lucifer if they can adopt a cat wherein lucifer completely dismisses the idea. Knowing that Lucifer's mind wont change, the next day satan surprises lilith with a black cat plushie with a red bow tie thats as tall (or alitte bit smaller) than her. Until this day, the cat plushie satan gave her is her favourite. She is never seen without it, and she even gave it a name, mr. Momo.

The only time that lilith ever gets in trouble is if she joins in on satan's pranks on lucifer. But most of the time she's let off the hook if they're harmless ones.

Asmodeus

" waahh~ lilith's so adorable, but not as adorable as me"

To lilith, asmo is the closest thing to a sister she can have. Being the only girl in the house( before mc, if mc is a girl ), asmo likes to doll her up and make her his little dress up doll. He often buys clothes for her because he just LOVES making her pretty.

She doesn't spend as much time in asmo's room because there isn't much to do there, but when asmo calls her in after a shopping trip. She already knows he's going to make her pretty as a peach!

It was lilith's birthday and Asmo wanted to dress her up for the occasion! Hair? Check! Make up? Check! Clothes? Check! She was looking as pretty as ever (but not as pretty as him). After dolling her up , lilith went to her other brothers to show Amos work. All of them asked if a child should be wearing that much make up, but asmo tells lilith to shrug them off because they can't appreciate beauty even if it hits them in the face!

The one thing that gets lilith in trouble is lucifer seeing her being dressed by asmo , wearing clothes not fit for a 10 year old girl. Seriously, devilgram level make up on a kid is not appropriate (well in lucifer and some of the other brothers point of view)

Beezlebub

" the eggs taste like plastic..huh? I'm not supposed to eat them? Sorry, they looked too realistic"

Beel is very close with lilith. He spends most of his time watching over her or bringing her to his favourite food joints to eat. Since beel is so big, she loves it when he carries her around, either on his shoulders or just being carried in general. Beel wants to protect lilith at all times, so if sorcerers or witches want to summon lilith, he comes along to watch over her still.

if its not Lucifer's room, lilith's next stop is always the twin's room. She goes in and jumps on either of the beds and having her toys there as well she can already entertain herself. When beel is there to play with her, she likes to play chef and make him food using her plastic kitchen toy set( though some pieces are missing since beel keeps forgetting that its plastic). If she doesn't want to play with her toys, she tries to tickle fight beel and always wins.

Beel was in his room eating a box of cupcakes until lilith barges in and sees him eating cupcakes, she pouts at beel asking why he didn't tell her that he had cupcakes. Beel, being beel just says to her, " they're my cupcakes". She pouts even more and says that she wants a cupcake as well. Beel couldn't resist and splits the cupcake, giving the other half to her. After finishing the cupcake, he promises to buy her a box aswell next time.

Lilith having a sweet tooth herself will often look in the fridge for sweets. She sometimes ends up eating beels food(custard), and hides the evidence. Beel rampages again and breaks the kitchen. Lucifer then lines all of them up and ask who ate the custard, and all of them immediately suspect mammon. But being a good girl, lilith admits her mistake and apologizes to beel, who calms down and says ," you could have left me some..".

Belphegor

" how about later...? Im still too sleepy to teach you..."

Belphie, same with beel, is pretty close with lilith. If he isn't cuddling her as his favourite cuddle buddy, he's teaching her how to dance ballet(Based it off his dancing sprite). Lilith spends most of her afternoon napping with belphie.

Besides playing with beel , lilith also loves playig around with belphie. She makes it an everyday challenge for herself to wake him up in the most creative ways. It can be things such as ice,drawing on his face, tickles, etc. When belphie is too lazy to stand up from bed( which is often), she just plays with his hair and does whatever she wants with it. When he finally does stand up, he teaches lilith some ballet. While she's even wearing her full ballet attire, with tutu included.

It was the middle of the night and lilith had a nightmare, she wanted to go to her big brother lucifer, but it was already late and she might be disturbing him. But then she remembered that mid nights is when his big brother belphie is awake, so she goes over to him with mr.momo. belphie is alittle confused since its way past her bedtime so he asked her whats wrong. She climbs up his bed and hugs him, after calming down she tells belphie that she had a nightmare. Belphie was well acquainted with nightmares, so he knew exactly what to do. They went to the kitchen and both had a cup of warm milk. Going back to his room, he cuddled up with lilith and made sure she had a good nights sleep.

Lilith ends up over sleeping and gets very cranky if she gets rudely awakened.the others find it very adorable.

Mc

"...." * Huwgs*

So this depends on the mc's personality but lets start from the beginning. After being sent to the devildom and having the basic run down of what is to come, mammon takes you to the house of lamentations. The first thing you notice once the door opens, is toys scattered all around the entrance hall. Not only toys, but you see a height lines at one of the door frames. Mammon gets more annoyed because he stepped on one of the toys and he shouts out," lilith!". A small girl carrying a black cat plushie almost her size comes down the stairs. Mammon scolds her for leaving her toys out like that and he introduces you to their 8th sibling, lilith. Lilith immediately hugs you (no matter the gender), because it's been a while since she's seen a human. And you become her instant play mate.

The mc's room already has a toy chest, filled with lilith's favourite toys. She likes to play around with the mc and actually gets quite attached to them.

Lilith gets so comfortable around the mc that she ask permission from her big brother luci if she can make a pact with the mc. Of course, lucifer is skeptical but he allows it because of liliths enthusiasm.

Diavolo

" ah lilith , I didn't think you would be accompanying lucifer today. "

Dia acts alot like the rich uncle that only comes back during the holidays to give out presents. Lilith rarely gets to see diavolo because most of the time it's only lucifer that gets to see him. But, when lucifer does come back he often gives lilith sweets that barbatos made by diavolo's order.

On the rare occasions that lucifer brings lilith along with him, she acts very reserved and shows off the manners lessons that satan has been teaching her.

On one evening, lucifer brings lilith along to dinner with diavolo. While eating, diavolo jokes around saying that lucifer should just stay in the castle with him. Suddenly, lilith bumps in and protests against the idea, " no big brother luci's staying with us". She hugs as much of lucifers arm that she can, giving diavolo her most pouty and "menacing face". Dia loves seeing how much she cares for her brother, while lucifer is trying his best to hide his embarrassment.

Luke

" ahhhhh! Im not a child! I dont want to play with a demon!"

When lilith first saw luke, her mind immediately said," playmate! ". Though luke always complains about being treated like a child because he's short, he tries to bare it because simeon convinced him to play with lilith.

When in the purgatory hall, she brings along mr.momo and some other toys. luke sometimes pretend he isn't there so he doesn't have to play with lilith, but once he hears a sniffle of her almost crying. He couldn't help but open the door for her and play.

Upon first meeting luke, the key difference in height was..still... apparent. Somehow, lilith is still a few inches taller than luke. Being the giddy child she is, she tells her brothers about it and they all start laughing their lungs out. And when luke finally got wind of it, he was so flustered and embarrassed, he almost refused to leave his room.

Solomon

" why not make a pact with me?"

All her brothers warn her about solomon and to stay as far away from him as possible, she rarely gets to interact with him. But most of the times they do meet, he often ask her to make a pact with him. She always replies to him, " i have to ask big brother luci's permission first". Solomon just smiles and pats her head.

Huhu not much i can say about him since im sure the brothers distance lilith from solomon as much as possible.

Chapter 3- Dragon vs. Phoenix Part 2:

Previously on Yu-Gi-Oh!: Renegade:

"I summon Amazoness Chain Master to the field, which increases my Amazoness Sage's attack points to 3800 due to the effect of United We Stand. Now, I attack you directly with Amazoness Sage! Amazoness Sage, time to end this!"

"I activate the Trap Card: Mirror Cylinder! This handy little trap takes your attack and directs it back at you, destroying all your monsters along the way and inflicting damage equal to the combined attack points! Say goodbye to 6800 of your Life Points, Yuko!" Yuko cried out as she was thrown backward by the force of the attack, hitting the ground hard with a groan.

"Yuko!" Her friends cried simultaneously.

"She's only got 1000 Life Points left!" Jacob yelled with wide eyes.

"I can't watch this!" Isaac added, covering his eyes.

"Have more faith in her. She may have lost a good chunk of her Life Points, but this isn't over." Pops told them. "All she has to do is believe in her deck."

Yuko Adonis: 1000            Cornelius Yang: 2600

“How does it feel, Yuko? How does it feel to be on the brink of losing?” Yang taunted.

“This duel isn’t over yet. You still have 1000 of my Life Points to knock out, and I don’t plan on letting you do it... You're just lucky I can't do anything more right now. I end my turn.” Yuko replied. With a smirk, Yang drew.

“Either way, it's my turn now! I summon Protector With Eyes of Blue. I may not have the Blue Eyes White Dragon in my deck, but with 800 attack points, that's not gonna stop me from bringing you to my mercy! Protector With Eyes of Blue, attack Yuko directly!" Yuko grunted in pain as she was attacked, taking 800 points of damage. Yang laughed.

"You have 200 Life Points left, Yuko! Use your next turn wisely! If you don't draw a monster now, this duel is over on my next turn! I end my turn for now." Yang smirked as he ended his turn.

Yuko Adonis: 200 Cornelius Yang: 2600

"Don't count me out just yet, Yang! My turn!" Yuko shouted, grabbing the top card of her deck with her eyes closed. 'It all comes down to this one last draw.... Heart of the Cards, don't fail me now!' Yuko thought. "I draw!" She drew the card and opened her eyes, flipping the card so it's face was toward her. She cracked a smile.

"Uh-oh, she smiled!" One of Yang's friends shouted.

"What's she plannin'?!" A second one asked, sounding a little panicked.

"You're about to find out... I summon Blazing Phoenix in attack mode!" Yuko summoned the card currently in her hand, hearing her friends cheer. It wasn't that strong of a monster, only having 1500 attack points, but it was still a good card. "And because I was able to summon it, I now get to special summon a level 4 monster from my deck, and the card I choose is my Phoenix Warrior!"

"Yang, this ain't looking too good!" The third one shouted.

"Shut up, I can see that!" Yang shouted back in reply.

"Yeah, well I bet you never saw this coming! My Phoenix Warrior has a special ability that allows me to Special Summon one more monster from my deck to the field as long as the monster I choose has 1500 defense points or less, so say hello to Flame Champion! But sadly, my Phoenix Warrior and Blazing Phoenix won't be around for long, because now I'm tuning my Phoenix Warrior with my Blazing Phoenix..."

"OH, NO!" Yang yelled in fear.

"Here it comes!" Jacob exclaimed in excitement.

"I Synchro Summon... Phoenix Mage!" Yuko shouted as her ace appeared on the field, spinning her staff and striking a battle pose, a smirk on her face. "But, I'm far from done... See, due to my Blazing Phoenix's special ability, my Phoenix Mage gets a 500 attack bonus this turn only. Not only that, but due to my Phoenix Mage's ability, all Fire Type monsters I have on my side of the field gain an additional 500 attack points. Which means my Flame Champion now has 2400 attack points while my Phoenix Mage has..."

"3500 attack points?!" Yang shrieked.

"That's right!" Yuko exclaimed. "Flame Champion, take out his Protector With Eyes of Blue first with Flame Strike!" Flame Champion obeyed Yuko's order, attacking Yang's only monster left. Yang's face went pale, realizing he had only 1000 Life Points left, and a 3500 attack point monster was staring right at him. "Let this be a lesson, Yang, next time you wanna push around little kids on my turf, you're gonna pay the price! Phoenix Mage, finish him off with Phoenix Scepter Blast!" Phoenix Mage smirked before attacking Yang directly, knocking him backwards with a strong blow, his Life Points hitting zero as he landed.

Yuko Adonis: 200 Cornelius Yang: 0

"Yuko won! She won!" Her friends cheered, whooping and hollering as Yuko walked toward Yang, who was in a state of shock.

"I lost.... How could I lose?" Yang trailed off.

"Good game. You had me on the ropes for a while there, but I hope you learned your lesson... Don't ever mess with anyone around here ever again." Yuko told him sternly. "Now get off my turf before I kick your butt again." The boys went running, all except Yang.

"Hang on a second, you may have won by the skin of your teeth, but a deal's a deal. You get to keep my rarest card." Yang told her, taking out a Synchro Monster from his deck, handing it to Yuko. Yuko's eyes widened a bit when she saw it before looking at Yang.

"How did you get this?" Yuko asked.

"My grandfather was one of the original Chasers... He was the one who got Akiza. Black Rose was passed down to my Dad and then it was passed down to me when I joined the Chasers..."

"So, hunting down duelists runs in the family?" Yuko asked, bitterness in the edge of her tone.

"Hey, it's not like that, Chasers have no choice but to listen to him now... Ever since one of the Chasers spared the sister of a duelist from the Underground around 11 years ago, he's been making death threats to any Chaser that shows mercy to a duelist... Especially their family." Yang told her. "See you next time, Yuko... I'll be waiting for our rematch." Yang told her before walking off, leaving the teenager standing still, in shock of what she had been informed of.

"You won, Yuko!" Jacob exclaimed.

"Congratulations, Yuko." Pops smiled.

"Yeah, but look what he had." Yuko showed them the card Yang had given her... Black Rose Dragon. Everyone's jaws dropped in shock except Pops, who's eyes widened in a shocked recognition.

"That's Akiza Izinski's ace!" Adom exclaimed, voicing Pops' thoughts.

"Holy crud..." Isaac trailed off.

"They got her too..." Jacob breathed, running a hand through his hair.

"Were you really expecting her to get away?" Adom asked.

"No, I wasn't, I just... I'd hoped that there was a possible way that she could have gotten away." Jacob answered, shifting a bit sheepishly as he spoke.

"That accounts for every Signer being caught... Except Leo and Luna." Yuko realized.

"No, Luna was caught... Wasn't she?" Jacob asked.

"No... It couldn't be... Luna had to have escaped..." Pops trailed off, though he didn't look too convinced of it himself.

"We'll figure that out later, right now, we have that little kid to worry about." Yuko answered before leading the way back into the shop and down the stairs, Adom being the one to help Pops down the stairs. "Holden, it's safe now, you guys can come out." Yuko called for the young boy. Holden peeked out from a well hidden area of the garage, the little girl waddling right behind him as he ran up to Yuko.

"Are they gone? Did you kick their butts?" Holden asked as Jacob leaned against the wall and Pops, Adom and Isaac all sat down in a chair. Yuko nodded.

"They're gone, kiddo. I beat their leader in a duel, and look what I won." Yuko showed him the Black Rose Dragon, the boy's eyes lighting up in wonder as Yuko noticed the little girl come out slightly to look at the dragon card, seeming just as amazed as Holden.

"Wow, it's so beautiful... I hope we can see her in action someday." Holden told her. Yuko smiled.

"One day, you will, I promise...." Yuko told the little boy before putting Black Rose Dragon in her deck and ruffling Holden's hair. "Now, how about this one? Do we know her name?" She asked, kneeling down to the little one's height, only for the little girl to hide behind Holden again. Holdeen shook his head, his hair swaying back and forth with the quick motion.

"I've tried asking her, and she hasn't answered me.... She just keeps making these weird hand motions and tapping her lips." Holden answered, his little shoulders going up and then back down again in a hopeless shrug, though Jacob straightened when he heard Holden's answer.

"Hand motions?" Jacob asked.

"JSL?" Adom guessed.

"That's possible." Yuko replied before looking at the little girl, who was busy trying to hide behind Holden. Yuko smiled. "Can you hear my voice?" Yuko asked as she signed her words in JSL, thankful of the times her foster mother had made her perfect the sign language. Everyone watched as the little girl peeked out from behind Holden, staying hidden while her big brown eyes stayed trained on Yuko. Yuko smiled a little. The little girl was coming out of her shell a little. "You don't have to be afraid of me, I won't hurt you, I promise." Yuko signed each word she said. "My name's Yuko. Is it okay if I know your name?" The little girl came out just enough to show her hands.

'"My name is Alita."' The little one signed. Yuko smiled.

"That's a very pretty name, Alita. Can you hear my voice at all?" Yuko signed as she asked, her compliment making the little girl blush. In response, the little one nodded.

' "My voice just doesn't work, so I can't talk." ' Alita signed in response.

"That explains why she was using sign language." Adom replied, having known enough JSL to know what Alita had just said. "Her vocal chords must have been damaged when she was a baby."

"Poor thing." Pops commented before everybody froze when Alita winced, grabbing her arm. Yuko gently touched the little one's shoulder.

"Are you okay?" Yuko signed as she talked again. Alita's eyes were filled with tears of pain and she shook her head, pointing to her arm. Yuko noticed that it was a prosthetic arm... But it was extremely damaged to the point where it was giving off electric currents every few minutes and hurting the little girl. "Is it okay if I take a look at it?" Yuko asked, watching as Alita's eyes widened in fear as she hid behind Holden again, shaking. Holden looked up at Yuko worriedly, his little brow furrowed. He looked as worried about Alita as Yuko was currently feeling. Yuko placed a comforting hand on Holden's head before taking her glove off her left arm.

"Yuko, what're you doing?" Isaac asked, but found himself ignored by the young woman, watching as the little girl peeked out to look at Yuko. Her eyes stayed wide, however, the fear that had previously been in them was long gone. Amazement shone through as Alita reached her flesh hand toward Yuko's robotic one before she hesitated, looking at Yuko for permission as her little eyebrows furrowed. Yuko nodded.

"It's okay, Alita. You can touch it if you want." She told her. Alita's little hand soon touched Yuko's robotic one, following each gear and crevice as she seemed to be memorizing the pattern on Yuko's prosthetic hand. Yuko smiled, knowing that this had been what the little girl needed to be at ease... To know someone was just like her... "Alita." Yuko directed the little girl's attention to her after a moment. "Is it okay if I look at your prosthetic arm now? I can fix it if you want me to." She asked. The little girl froze for a second before shaking off her fear and nodding, a brave look on the little one's face. Yuko smiled before she looked at Holden. "Can you go get my tools for me?" Yuko asked. Holden nodded and raced upstairs with Isaac and Jacob following him to help him get the toolbox down. Meanwhile, Yuko got Alita comfortable, using her robotic arm to scan Alita's prosthetic to see what the problem was.

"What's going on with her arm?" Adom asked her, Pops keeping the little one entertained.

"Well, you remember that network Dracnus connected the DracTech prosthetics to in order to keep tabs on everyone in Cypher City? There's a part in each of them that allows an electric current to kick in everytime Dracnus wants to deal that person punishment." Yuko told him.

"I thought Dracnus couldn't do that to our prosthetics from down here, the signal can't reach Underground City." Adom replied.

"You're right, it can't... But for some reason, that part in Alita's is broken so that the electric current goes off every few minutes. It's not a strong enough charge to stop her heart, mind you, but it is strong enough to hurt her." Yuko responded as Holden came back with her tools. "I'm going to fix it so it stops hurting her altogether." Holden put her tools next to her.

"Here you go." Holden told her.

"Thanks, little man. You're the best." Yuko smiled, ruffling his hair again.

"Holden, where the heck are Isaac and Jacob?" Adom asked.

"After they helped me get Yuko's toolbox down, they went into the shop to "hold the fort down".... Whatever that means." Adom answered, using air quotes and causing Yuko to have to hold back her giggles. There was something about the look on the six-year-old's face as he used air quotes that struck Yuko as absolutely hilarious. After a deep breath to still her laughter, Yuko focused on fixing the part on Alita's arm that was bothering her, speaking to Alita to keep her distracted from what was going on.

"Alita, how old are you?" Yuko asked. The little girl held up her flesh hand, showing four fingers. "Four?" Alita nodded in confirmation. "That's super cool."

"Yeah, you're like... One year away from being old enough to learn how to ride a bike without training wheels for the first time. It's super scary at first, but I promise it's a ton of fun once you get the hang of it." Holden excitedly told Alita, a smile crossing the girl's face. Yuko chuckled a bit and let Holden tell Alita all the perks of being 5 years old while Yuko fixed Alita's robotic arm.

A few hours later, Yuko was looking over the blueprints of the Phoenix Whirlwind's original designs as she waited for the diagnostics to finish. 'How can I rebuild this so it's my own?' She thought, her arms crossed over her chest. She tapped her foot a couple times before glancing over at the pullout bed. Fast asleep, with her robotic arm fixed and her tummy full of good food, was Alita. A small smile crossed Yuko's face before a soft beeping indicated that the diagnostics were finished. Her brow furrowed and her smile dropped when she saw just how much damage had been done. 'I was afraid this was gonna happen, those stupid Chasers made sure Jack could never duel again on this thing.... Hell, would Yusei even know how to fix this?' She thought with an eyebrow raised before setting to work. After a while, her vision got blurry from looking at the blueprints too long, causing a frustrated sigh to leave Yuko's lips as she closed down the screen and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Pops was right, I really oughta get more sleep..." Yuko trailed off under her breath, though it pained her a bit to admit it. She slipped off her boots, sliding into bed as an exhausted sigh left her lips. Her emerald flecked sapphire eyes drooped, her hair falling in her face like a curtain as her eyes finally closed. 'I'll jump on repairs early tomorrow... For now, though, Pops is right. I need rest....'

While she slept, Yuko was unaware of the chaos that was about to unfold... Unaware of the growing threat on the surface...
