JeanMarco headcanons cuz I have the same haircut like Marco so I'm obligated by law to talk about it

They both fight over the mirror A LOT. If by any chance Marco wins and gets to fix his hair first Jean ALWAYS ruffles it just to be a little shit. Deep down Marco loves it- despite needing to fix his hair again

Marco hates when his hair gets sightly longer because it keeps getting in his eyes. Jean loves it when that happens because he gets to move said hair away from Marco's eyes which results in Marco blushing from embarrassment (and the close proximity)

Sometime Jean would let Marco brush his hair. Marco always hums under his breath while doing that, unconsciously. Jean loves hearing Marco sing and Marco loves brushing Jean's hair. It reminds them both of their family (Jean's mom singing around the house and Marco's siblings begging him to brush their hair because he's so gentle while doing it)

They use the same hair products. Is a nightmare

just saw Here Lies Love on Broadway and I have…complicated feelings about it?

One one hand. There was an insane euphoria of seeing a 100% Filipino cast. Playing Filipino people, too! Not just…oh we have a Vietnamese/Japanese/Chinese character, let’s cast a Filipino bc they’re the only Asians whose parents let them go into theater. And as a fil-am actor, that was very cool!

On the other hand of course is uh. Um. Imelda Marcos is still…very much alive. And the Marcos family is still very much influencing the government of the Philippines. And making her into an Evita story isn’t even accurate? Plus, the music/lyrics were written by two white (British!) guys and it shows.

HOWEVER I will say the production design is a huge part of the messaging of the show. HUGE. while the marcos are saying one thing, the projections and video screens are very much showing another. Death tolls, statistics about their wealth, their cronyism, archival footage comparing the Marcos’ wealth to the average Filipino standard of living, images of the people power revolution, etc etc.

Plus the acoustic song at the end which was composed of real text from revolutionaries contrasted so well with the huge bombastic disco style of the rest of the musical. Idk how to explain it exactly but it really felt like for the past 90 minutes of the show we DID get swept up in the Marcos propaganda machine. The dancing and the lights and the moving set pieces— the whole thing was designed to (imo) really get you caught up in the glamour of it all in the same way fascism promises you big things! things they way YOU want them! And before you’re really aware of it, you are dancing next to war criminals. The end song and the mural reveal felt very tonally different than the rest of the show.

However, I just…think there wasn’t enough THERE there, iykwim. The actual summary of the politics and events is minimal at best, if not outright fabricating some things (she did NOT grow up poor??? Her literal WIKIPEDIA says so. you wrote a whole musical and didn’t do your research??), they really toned down Imelda’s actual role as a dictator, shoving most of that responsibility off on her husband, like she didn’t run the country into the ground all on her own while he was ill, and seriously minimizes how corrupt and evil she was all on her own.

To me, Here Lies Love felt a lot like another Miss Saigon in that it took a huge historical event that devastated thousands of people and still has repercussions to this DAY, and made it sweet and palatable to a western audience. Then slapped a little “fascism bad, defend democracy uwu” moral on at the end. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The truth is, Jean has two theories.

First, he suspects his soulmate could be murdered during an argument. He hates that line of thinking, so he doesn’t overthink it. There’s no way he would ever hurt Marco during a fight, so he doesn’t trust that theory.

He unconsciously never ends a conversation first, lets Marco speak about whatever he wants for as long as he wants, just in case. Because another tiny, dark piece of him worries that maybe one day something will happen, they’ll argue, yes, but he’ll leave during an argument, and Marco’s last words will be to him. About him leaving.

When Trost happens, he’s relieved, because there’s no way Marco’s last words will be about ‘talking it through’ with a titan, right? So, he’s going to be fine. Marco’s the seventh best soldier of the 104th. He’s a nerd, he knows titan’s don’t speak or think, so there’s no way his last words will be pleas to a titan.

Then Trost really happens.

And Jean is left wondering if maybe Marco had been so desperate that he’d try to talk to a titan in his final moments.

Then he rationalises it. Thinks of Armin’s theory about the armoured and the colossal…

When the female titan appears, both Erwin and Armin are certain that the shifter has to be a soldier, a cadet, even.

And the little words on Jean’s skin the ones that taunt him at night start to make more sense. And he’s furious.

(No, we wont be talking about the possibility that Jean didn’t know Marco was his soulmate until he asks Reiner and Annie what his final words were at the campfire. No I refuse.)

cant remember bringing this up for a while so honestly i'll never be over the reiiteration that jean himself has a bleeding heart. he is going to be both blunt and honest with whoever hes speaking to, but in a way that he hopes will come to help them understand the situation but also does it so whoever he's speaking with actually understands the full situation and what that may entail despite the gruesome outcome.

AWFUL at this when he starts off #esp as a scout bc ... so much of it gets held back. just not enough for marco to not see it :pray: #his first proper scout interaction with eren is something i always write as a big regret for him but i also think its good to say he was a #fifteen year old who was suddenly becoming his own and a lot of peoples therapists. #he gets so much better with all this. he GROWS #i was talking abt this with angel a second ago but it's just part of the reiner and jean parallel that makes me enjoy writing them the most #reiner originally was this massive older brother figure role following all he had learnt from marcel. but peoples trust in him snapped so #easily when the reveal took place and he then spent the rest of the series trying to gain it back #( the only character who really seemed to forgive him the most being jean ) #whereas jean was the character everyone loved to be mad at / tease / not get too close to #into becoming someone the majority of the scouts trusted the most #one day i will write my meta explaining all these diff characters jean mirrors but ... i shall leave you with this for now

This is the first time I've bought myself an F/O cameo in... I think two years? Two years. Christ. I don't know how I feel about it. I should be excited but I'm kind of sad because it's been so long, and I still feel a little bit... detached from my own ships + myself as a whole. but that is just the trauma <3 and we are working on it <3 yippee <3

I have seen the twins from BrBa as my protectors, my knights, and Marco especially is so dear to me.

For the first time in a long time since I was abused, I have been able to view just a few dangerous villain F/Os as protectors instead of being afraid of them. I wish I could view all of them this way, but the fact that I have ANY F/Os at ALL that I'm unafraid of, villain or not, is such huge progress for me. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching BrBa and I have SEVEN F/Os from that series -- I have never feared ANY of them hurting me, not even once. Even the most dangerous, horrible, irredeemable villains. The twins are some of the most brutal, violent characters in the series, and all I can think about is that they'd never lay a hand on me. In fact, they'd cut off the hands of anybody else who attempts to. I feel so, so, so safe with them, so protected.

A year ago, I wouldn't have been able to feel this way at all, but I am healing slowly but surely over time and I'm starting to believe I am worthy of love and protection again. I haven't been afraid of the twins, not once, not ever, and that's HUGE for me!! That's BIG!!! I genuinely and wholeheartedly believe that I would be so loved and protected and SAFE with them!!!! With them, with Jesse, with anybody. In fact, the more dangerous they are, the softer I believe they would be just for me. That's how self shipping is SUPPOSED to be!!! This is how I'm SUPPOSED to feel!! I am so relieved beyond words that I am starting to heal. I really hope I can start to view all F/Os this way someday. In the meantime, this is a wonderful start.

So as a gift to myself, I saved up some money and found Luis available for shoutouts. I asked him to tell me (as Marco) that he loves me, that the twins will protect me, and he won't let anybody hurt me ever again 🥺🥺 I've heard he gives very good cameos so... here's to hoping my request is received and delivered smoothly.
