I know it's such a cliche at this point to the point of garnering eye rolls, but we really cannot lose sight of the fact that 2x97 is the Most Episode of All Time. You cannot ignore Essek in that episode, obviously, but honestly the fact that that happened only serves to highlight how buckwild everything else was. That was when Veth got her body back. That was when Caleb first directly set his sights on Ludinus. That was when Fjord tried to ask Jester on a date and instead ending up thirdwheeling Yasha and Beau, who WERE essentially on a date. That was when Jester locked Sharpe on the balcony. That was when Cad got Beau SO high and Fjord was forced to babysit. That was when Fjord and Yasha told Marius he had to kill someone to stay on the crew.

If any ONE of these things had happened on top of the Essek reveal, it would've been notable or memorable, but no, the BREADTH of unhinged happenings in that episode is actually stunning.

Wishship Week Day 2/Feb. 20th: Flowers

Art for day 2 of @wishshipweek! Zinnias have many different meanings including affection, friendship, everlasting love, remembrance, and tribute. I felt this flower was a perfect symbol of so many aspects of their story and relationship together that I had to put them in a field of them.

Also, it wasn’t until after I drew them that I realized that zinnias were actually really tall but, it’s fine. These ones are small. It works.

Thinking about my old pkmn ask blog

#I’m not really active in the community anymore but more because I grew away from it #I think about coming back a lot but Im not really sure what id do lol. I mean I think my storytelling and writing #skills have somewhat improved. but i still really really suck at making endings #although maybe I could make it like something that resolves the main problem and then just open for any interactions.. #….fuck. I’m actually considering it now. Is there a cat in cannon who got a good death who you think didn't deserve it? Especially if they committed crimes?

Tom the Wifebeater and his redemption death. No question. It's not even close.

Not only do I reject to the "redemption death" on the grounds of it being Tom the Wifebeater who is bullying others until his dying breath, even taunting Thunder about Turtle Tail is dead and the kits must be very torn up about it, but I reject "redemption through death" entirely. I don't like it in stories. It's a theme I deeply object to.

And again it's fucking wild that every time a character is a father, even if they are a wifebeater or a child abuser, the writers think that it bestows a glimmer of goodness into them which every abused child is forced to appreciate and cry about. Breezepelt, Thunder, Tallstar, Tom's children, all of them forced to reconcile and admit how much they wuv their papa.

Abusive dads in WC regularly get redemption deaths, too. Clear Sky dies saving his grandchild, Sandgorse died saving a rando in a tunnel, Tom the Wifebeater saving his daughter.

But Tom the Wifebeater is the worst example of it. Hands down.

#Though I will say it's not exactly a matter of a crime being 'too bad to come back from' #ANYONE can change. #But these ones DONT. #These fathers are *recontextualized* by their deaths and their victim is pushed into rethinking their anger towards them #IF they even had anger towards them at all. All of Tom's victims were too dead to have those feelings because DOTC hates women #And his children are destroyed when they learn that the guy they met once who kidnapped them and got their mom killed died #And that's why I generally hate redemption deaths. By their very nature they don't display what's so HARD about accountability #The changing of your behavior. Checking yourself. Admitting that your victims dont have to forgive you. #It's hard work! #It's painful sometimes! It's worth it but it's not always easy! #It's also its own reward. Your relationships improve. You feel better. You understand yourself. #but no. a redemption death is the end. You never really have to face what you did. #And I hate the way that lots of storytellers think it means it undoes the violence they did #IT does nothing. They're gone. The victims continue. #Where are my stories with RESENTMENT for that? How DARE you die for me?? How dare you run away from the hole you cut into my flesh??? #You think the end of you becomes the missing piece of me? #Awful. I think  hes better friends with a lot of people than he actually thinks he is, and I think the town rubs off on him a lot more than he would like to admit.

A thing I wrote that inspired this I couldnt fully fit in but I like it a lot “He doesnt want to admit that these complacent, stupid people with no desire for efficency or improvement have made a place in his heart. That they have grown on him in a way they all sort of notice, just in little thing. Small gestures like sometimes apologizing after he says something rude/out of pocket. Or he’ll deliberately take less time on projects, prioritizing their projects over his own personal ones. Or he starts to leave his lab door unlocked. Or how he sits outside the blue moon instead of in the corner on the inside. How his interactions, although they remain brief, contain small insights into his life. Qi doesnt notice this change that much of course, but the more observant people in sandrock who do notice it know enough not to point it out.”

Thank you! It's truly nice to hear that I've made progress. I mean, obviously - hopefully - I would have after all this time, but sometimes the improvement is hard to see when you're so close to it.

We're currently switch my cat's food and litter to try to figure out what's causing this weird mystery allergy she's had for the last like 5 years and I was kinda worried she wouldn't like the new food bcs you never know, but actually she likes it so much it's actually ridiculous. Cuz like when you switch a cat(or dog's) food you have to taper it like a medication, you keep giving them the old food but slowly mix in more and more of the new food while mixing in less of the old, cuz if you don't you can make them sick, and she is SO SO SO mad that I keep giving her ANY of the old food.

Whenever I go to fill up her bowl I first add in the old food and then mix in the new, and while she used to just immediately start eating when I'd pour her food now she just watches me do the first one, sniffs the bowl, and then sits back and stares at me like "uh mother it appears there's been an error" and then when I reach for the other food she looses her MIND and starts shoving her face in my way and meowing and getting all excited and she only starts eating once it's mixed in.

So like, glad she enjoys the new stuff at least!

#also it looks like her allergy is improving a lot but we're pretty sure it wasnt the food lol #bcs we switched the litter and she IMMEDIATELY improved a bunch #but we still dont think we've found the righ one bcs this one still is a powder kinda and it kicks up dust #and she does still sneeze and scratch her ears more than she should #so we're gonna try this pellet stuff next and see if it works #and I guess we can keep getting her the new food too bcs she really seems to like it lmaoooo #I do hope this is it tho bcs the vet told us we could try this hypoallergenic special prescription cat food #AND BY GOD IS THAT SHIT EXPENSIVE HOLY FUCK #like we could afford it if we really stretched things but only barely #so fingers fucking crossed this fixes it!!!!
