This is honestly kinda weird for me because I definitely didn’t enter 2023 with the intent to be content creator, but I kind of stumbled into 2024 actively being one (which is something I’m incredibly grateful for, I’ve gotten to meet so many cool people and make so much cool stuff)!!
That being said, I am incredibly excited for 2024 and some of the things I have planned, and for all of the amazing creators and friends I have things planned with, and I wanted to share some of my goals for projects for the new year (in no particular order)!!
Obviously Fable SMP is still ongoing, and I’m really excited for Ulysses story and the culmination of it!
Speaking of Fable, my goal is to have completed my main Fable Fics by the end of 2024! That’s the final two Brink books (On the Border of Life and Death, and On the Precipice of Eternal Purpose) and the final Blood book (Your Skin Beneath My Teeth)! I’m sure that won’t be the end of my work writing Fable related fics, but that will hopefully wrap up my main stories there.
I’m also hoping to have the Brink and Edge Audiobooks finished by mid-year!!
As some people might have seen, I’m part of the starting cast for the super cool upcoming Terramortis SMP, announced by the incredible @m0thm00n and featuring a ton of awesome creators!! I’m super excited to share my character for that story and see where that SMP goes!
I can’t say too much for now, but I may be involved in some other upcoming RP/SMP projects which people should be on the lookout for 👀
CANTRIPPED!!! I’m so excited to be part of the Cantripped cast moving into 2024 and to see where that story goes! I love Dan so much, and keep your ears out for me perhaps guesting in some other roles on the show as well!
I have two huge Video Essay projects I’ve been working on for a while and am hoping to finish up early this year! One is the Teen Wolf video essay I’ve talked about before, and the other is a more light hearted Percy Jackson focused piece! I’ve also got the start of a third essay on the original Jumanji in the works so who knows where that’ll go!
Also top of like,,, creative things, this year I’ll hopefully be graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Ancient History and Classicism which is… wild to think about-
A bunch of other cool projects I have on the back burner that I’d love to pursue!!
Will any of these come to fruition? I really fucking hope so cause I’m really excited for all of them- but obviously there’s nothing concrete since life gets in the way.
But you know if any of those things sound interesting to y’all… stick around here? You probably found me through Fable SMP so like, I’m pointing at my YouTube and this tumblr account, they’re the main places I reside 🧍

What are you resisting?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

♡ p i l e 1 ♡
(7 of pentacles rx, queen of wands rx, 6 of wands rx, the wheel of fortune, page of pentacles rx)
You may have been working on something for a while now, but you feel like it hasn't really been getting the results you expected. You may feel as if you put all that work for nothing and this is leading you to think that it was worthless, when it was not. You may be focusing too much on one particular outcome or the way you initially envisioned this, making you unable to recognize other ways for your desired outcome to come into fruition.
All the effort you've been putting in has been working out, you just can't see it because you're determined to have one particular outcome.
If you let go of the need you have to see this particular outcome play out, you'll be able to see all the fruits of the hard and tedious work you've been putting in.
This resistance may come from how much you want your desires. I mean, you've probably been working on manifesting this thing, and while doing it you've thought about how things could play out and you may have created some resistance (consciously or subconsciously) regarding how it'll come to fruition, blocking your ability to see what's already there.
Simply recognizing and repeating to yourself that what you want is already yours can be useful so you can let go and surrender. Making gratitude lists and focusing on what you want instead of how or when it'll come will help you let go of this resitance too.

(The emperor, 10 of swords, king of pentacles, 7 of swords rx, the fool)
You're probably having some control issues right now. This may come from past betrayals. People took advantage of you. They took all you had to give and didn't even care to give back to you. This people were selfish and egotistical and they didn't care about you (I know it sounds harsh... I'm really sorry you had to go through this).
This could be currently manifesting as you controlling those around you and every situation possible, leading to deep anger issues (?) Idk, that's what I heard. You may be even betraying or backstabbing others first, out of fear of the same situations happening to you all over again. I feel like you're basically doing this to protect yourself from experiencing giving too much and getting hurt all over again.
By letting go of this you'd be more confident, because I do feel like you're also doing, and having this mindset, out of insecurity.
You'd be in your element. You'd be able to have beautiful and reciprocal relationships with others, where you'll give and receive as much as you put in. Your energy would be protected and respected, but to get there you have to work on this trauma you have.
It's not going to be easy, working through trust issues rarely is, but by putting constant work you'll be able to finally let go of this fear of going through this all over again. Learning how to set clear and healthy boundaries, and teaching other how to treat you will be beneficial (yes, you need to actually teach others how to treat you because if you don't they'll treat you however they see fit, so you need to learn how to set boundaries and walk away when they're being disrespected). Also working on your self-esteem and self-concept (there's tons of information about this here on Tumblr), and basically shifting your mindset, and doing things without knowing where they'll take you, taking a leap of faith, basically. Seeking more spontaneity instead of trying to control every single situation and its outcome.

Tw: mental health
I feel like this has to do about your mindset. Maybe you've had depression or anxiety, maybe you still do, but I feel like this was in the past. I feel like you're dealing mostly with intrusive thoughts about past situations (?) Or what was left of a depressive episode. You want to change this but I feel that you either lack the courage or you don't know how to utilize it effectively.
This whole thing probably came from a relationship (not necessarily a romantic one, but for some of you that may be the case). Someone or even a group of people that deceived you. Feel like those situations where you think you're part of the group but in reality they all hate you, or someone you trusted (friend or partner) was talking shit behind your back and that led to trust issues and what I mentioned before.
However, as I said previously, I heavily feel like you're leaving that in the past and you genuinely want to change. You've been putting in the work, you've been learning from past mistakes, and even how to be more gentle with yourself. You're finally stepping into your own power. You know what you want and what you deserve and you're no longer tolerating other's bullshit.
You still have a little bit of resistance though, but after working on it you'll have an amazing intuition, you'll be able to instantly know people's intentions. Also, your mind will be clearer and you'll be able to engage with others without forming deep attachments with the wrong people and you'll be able to let others in, instead of being constantly scared and overprotecting yourself.
Letting go of the need to please others will help you with this. Allowing others to leave your life when they want/have to, even cutting off some toxic people too. Remember that not everyone is going to be in your life forever and THAT IS OK. People come and go from our lives, but that doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you or that it is some kind of punishment or that you should tie them down and be constantly in their business so they won't ever leave. People come and go and that's perfectly normal, I'd even say it's healthy, because we're not always going to be the same. We grow, we change. I'd suggest you be gentle with yourself because it's not an easy process, but it's necessary and you know it deep down. Also, it's good to look back and reminisce on certain memories as long as you don't entertain this often. Focus on your goals and what's ahead of you, that way you won't feel as burdened. And remember to take it one step at a time to feel at peace. Going to therapy is a really good option if you're able to do it. Sometimes it's better to go to a professional.

Writing Tension
Hey! It’s your girl— @thecomfywriter— back with another post. Apparently, an anticipated post :) Fr though, before we start, I want to thank you all for the warm welcome and kind comments since coming back to this account. It makes me really happy to see these posts help people, and hopefully I can continue to be a resource for you guys, or even share my own works too! I started doing writing prompts on my instagram, so that’s always an option.
Anyways, today’s post is about writing tension. Perhaps one of the greatest devices you can use as a writer, as it allows you to utilize the narrative to grip your reader, immerse them into your story, and have them truly feel for your characters and the events. Because of its power, it's also not the easiest thing to navigate. Thus, this post is here to help, as rather a launching point or hopefully a guide on how to implement and work tension into your story.
Before we get started, here are all my socials. Do pop on, give it a visit, spread the love. And if you find my posts particularly helpful and you want to show your appreciation, you can tip this post &/or buy me a coffee using the link down below.

Tension is a subdevice of foreshadowing, in which readers are made to anticipate the worst occurring and/or face a conflict. Tension adds mood, depth, atmosphere, and engagement with your story. It is a tactic employed to cause emotional distress to your readers and characters alike. There are multiple different facets to developing tension successfully, each with its own purpose in crafting your perfect narrative. Not every story is going to need all of these to build tension but every good story with proper tension that leaves your readers unable to put the book down because, “what’s going to happen next” will have at least more than one.
Conflict:
The foundational aspect of tension is conflict. Your character is experiencing a tense chapter, or the narrative has an increased sense of tension in it because there has been an introduction of conflict, whether that be through internal or external forces. Internal conflict may result in emotional distress and the reader's anticipation of when those bottled up, unresolved emotions will come to fruition and make a muck of character relations (as an example). Or, it can cause the retrograde degeneration of a character’s arc. Meanwhile, external conflict gives your characters a focus, an opposition to combat. Conflict is a natural breeding ground for tension because it festers resistance and opposition. Depending on the type of conflict within your story, the effect and consequences will be different. However, some things to bear in mind for each are such:
Internal conflict:
Internal conflict is the idea of “man vs. self,” in which your character is their own antagonist. When dealing with internal conflict, understanding the character’s motivations (or lack thereof), their personality, their morality/values, and their perspective is key to understanding their reaction and thus the outcome of this conflict. Personally, I love using internal conflict for building tension, because it creates a sense of dichotomy and indecision that puts the reader in a sense of discomfort. It’s powerful because it's uncomfortable, and it's uncomfortable because it's confrontational. It requires the characters to face the most undesirable, the worst, deepest, darkest, most heinous parts of themselves and question how it aligns or rejects against their self-perception. When writing internal conflict, the tension should arise predominantly from the character’s emotions and their struggle, putting them at a crossroads within themselves. Here’s a brief outline of each of the types of internal conflict:
Religion/faith: your character is questioning their spiritual stance
Desires: these can be regular old desires or sexual ones, but your character is left repressing or struggling to accept/control their untamed/scandalous/unacceptable desires
Morality: your character is questioning/forced to confront their sense of morality (or lack thereof), usually inspired by an external conflict
Identity: your character is attempting &/or struggling to form an image of themselves OR they are struggling to accept their self-image, typically in contrast to the image/identity they desire or have been prescribed to
I want to do another post on identity because my sister made this brilliant presentation on the types of identity for her global health class and I think it can really be helpful in understanding how to forge your character’s identity in respect to the rest of the story/society
Love/guilt: these are two of the most powerful emotions a character can feel, specifically emotions that drive action, which is why I grouped them together. Also because they’re often connected, whether it be the internal conflict of rejecting love, repressing it, being in denial, trying to force or reject it, or feeling the guilt of lost love, unrequited love, unethical love, or hurting a lover. Or, of course, the entire ballpark of dealing with guilt itself. Guilt is the needle for a person’s moral compass; remember that when exploring the dynamics of a character's internal struggle when it comes to guilt, regret and shame.
Existential: the character must face themselves and come to a decision about their purpose/the meaning of life. This type of conflict typically involves an internal struggle against what the character knows or is prescribed to believe versus what they themselves truly find meaning in.
Interpersonal: kind of like identity and existential, interpersonal conflict is a struggle in which your character opposes their role or their identity and its place within a larger context. For example, your character grappling with their sense of identity versus the societal norms and expectations is considered interpersonal because it goes beyond their own self-image, but instead of how their identity contributes to a larger scale.
External Conflict:
This type of conflict is your classic, “man vs other,” in which your character is opposing a force beyond themselves. When dealing with external conflict, setting up a basis for motivation for each party and allowing your readers to understand why these motivations clash is key in developing character intentions, which keeps your story consistent and is also a helpful reference tool for areas where you want to add tension. There are also a plethora of external conflict types, which I will outline here:
Antagonist: this is a character who doesn’t necessarily have to be a villain, but they do have to be in opposition to your character. For example, your character’s antagonist can be the tyrant who conquers and enslaves tribes and cities of these ancient lands, or they can be the crush of your character’s love interest. The crush didn’t do anything wrong. They’re not a bad person. They’re just in the way of the protagonist’s goals in the story, which in this story, would be to woo and romance their love interest.
Nature: natural disasters. The world is ending. Radiation. Alternate planets with weird, mystical, and dangerous wildlife. Surviving the outdoors.
Society: character is combating against society, whether it be norms, authority, or the community itself.
Technology: character against technology that has gone too far. Typically in sci-fi, futuristic settings. Think AI, robots, nuclear bombs/weapons/warfare… the list goes on. You can be so creative with this one, I love it. Technically, Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” was character vs. technology.
Fate: character is trying to prevent, oppose, or deter a certain inevitability or destiny they’ve been prescribed to. Think of oracles or prophecies, maybe even soulmates for romance books. I always like to think of Oedipus as the classic example.
For example, character X has lost their father in a lynching after his father spoke up against the corrupt government that was leaching off their already struggling and vulnerable village. Thus, X has a strong vehemence towards the corruption, the government, and specifically the authority + everyone involved in the lynching. His motivation lies in his grief (which, in it of itself is an internal conflict, as he struggles to process the traumatic incident and cope with the violent and public murder of his parent) and thus may motivate his desire to dismantle the government and abdicate the leader that ordered the lynching to begin with. In this example, there are 2 external conflicts. Conflict 1 is the authority who ordered the lynching (antagonist) and conflict 2 is the society that endorsed the corruption that his father was rebelling against to begin with. Your character’s motivation may be to honour his father’s memory by dismantling both corrupt regimes, and his antagonist's motivation may be to silence any acts of rebellion in order to maintain governorship, power, and retain authority. These motivations, when outlined, are in direct opposition to each other, and being able to recognize that can help you as the writer facilitate scenarios in which those motivations and oppositions are exacerbated. By forcing your characters to make a difficult decision that reveals their intentions or puts their intentions on blast, you create tension in the story (i.e. if X had to choose between telling the authorities of a near-broken dam that would flood their village to save the innocents at the cost of increasing their hold on the population by embellishing their reputation, or allow the dam to break, killing the innocents and forcing the authority to go under higher investigation that would rule them out of power. What does your character value more?)
Building the atmosphere:
Okay, lemme explain what I mean about this because I feel like this is a common trope in horror that always has me shitting BRICKS. Basically, there are elements of horror (that's the next point I’ll be explaining, fret not), in which one of them is the overdescription of a scene. Essentially, I like to think of it as, say your character is in the middle of a super tense scene. They’re alone in the house late at night. They live in a cabin wood area, no neighbours for a couple of kilometers. Their phone—blasted! They forgot to put it on charging. The hairs on their spine are rising. An odd sense of urgency has replaced their relaxing movie night when multiple creaking floorboards sound from upstairs. Your character slithers into the kitchen, grabbing the first knife they see, trying to make as little noise as possible as they slowly trek up the stairs. One hand is on the railing, the other raised with their knife ready to stab. Their eyes are darting. Their senses are heightened. Shadows from outside cast onto each step in non-symmetrical patterns, making each step more difficult to see than the last. The top of the stairs is  a void. The wooden banister is the only thing illuminated by the shreds of moonlight, and it reflects as though polished. What is that? On the railing? Why does it seem wet?
Your character checks their hand, realizing it too has been trailing over a sticky fluid. Sticky and viscous. They can’t see in the shadows. They don’t want to look down, even for the second it would take to check their hand. Do they look? Do they keep going forward?
A creak sound behind them. They spin around, slicing the knife into the air. The whoosh of it cutting empty space rattles their bones. It was only their own foot behind them. Though, when they look back up towards the banister, they notice the railing isn’t reflecting as much as it used to. Whatever liquid had stained it had matted to dullness.
This is stupid. I should be leaving. Your character pivots swiftly, rushing down the stairs, when suddenly, a firm hand covers their mouth and yanks them back.
In that uncalled for example, the environment is built through perceiving the entire scene in the character’s frantic and limited vision. We are following their frantic eyes, processing all the information and observations they make, whether they make conclusions with the observations, or set them aside for later use. I dunno what it is about this device, but it gives me the heebie jeebies everytime because DAMN stop describing the shadows in the corner of the room and the chills up your arms at the brisk wind that shouldn’t be indoors considering you locked all the windows. I dunno, that kind of writing puts me on edge, and that’s exactly the point.
Elements of Horror:
Briefly, I will outline some of the elements of horror and perhaps make a more detailed post on it separately, if y'all would like that.
Overdescription
Being vague with crucial details (limiting the characters and readers POV)
Loss of senses
Overstimulation (creates a sense of anxiety)
Emphasis on a character’s reaction to the events around them // bodily fear (the pit in her stomach clawed into her chest, lodging itself in her throat. A sick acidity overcame her in waves as the sharpness of his fingernails traced along her collarbones. His hot breath feathered the cold skin of her neck, rendering her paralyzed within his clutches)
Varied sentence structure:
The actual construction of your sentences influences the tone and fluidity of your writing // the scene. General rule of thumb: if you want to draw out a scene, use longer, connected sentences to build anticipation, anxiety, and atmosphere. On the contrary, if you want to blast your readers with a quicker, faster pace, short sentences can jar your readers and give the “loss of sensation” effect to help stun them.
Personalization:
This is the idea of creating stakes for your characters by making whatever event is occurring to them personal. When thinking of personalization, the key questions to ask yourselves are:
What does (character) have to lose?
Why is losing (thing being lost) significant to (character)/the narrative?
How will (character) change as a person/the narrative change its course if (thing being lost) was lost?
Why is (insert character goal) worth the risk of losing Y?
What other risks is (character) willing to take for (insert character goal)? How do these risks interact with each other?
What are the consequences of these risks/decisions/actions? Consider emotional and narrative consequences.
By personalizing each risk to your characters, you are upping the stakes of their goals, thus increasing the tension because there is more of a gamble to it now. NOTE: in order for this to work, your readers must truly believe that real consequences exist in your story. Not half-assed. Real, proper, committed consequences. Don’t give your character this deadly illness only to immediately present them with a cure. Don’t give them this life altering injury and have them heal within a week. Do NOT give them the easy way out. If you want to increase your stakes, show your readers you are willing to make your characters hurt. Show them that real consequences exist. Your characters, no matter how darling they are to you, should not be immune to the laws of your world. When in doubt, always remember the genius case of Ned Stark— he was the classic hero protagonist who everyone loved and rooted for. And then he died, and he stayed dead, because the story had consequences and he took unforgivable risks. An added weight, a sense of gravity was added to every character’s decision and the reader's perception of safety after that, because if Ned wasn’t safe, no one was.
Readers on edge:
Taking away your reader's sense of certainty is one surefire way to build a source of tension and anxiety, as it removes the sense of security that allows them to otherwise remain comfortable in the narrative. By decreasing the sense of security, you increase the tension within the narrative, allowing it to drive the plot forward and increase reader engagement. It also forces the reader to question everything. Will they make it out alive? How did she escape? Who was on the stairs? What was the mysterious reflecting liquid? What happens next?
If you are able to keep your reader asking these kinds of questions, you are able to maintain their apprehension, which seeks to lock them in and truly sell your story as immersive.
How do you pull this off? When building tense scenes, consider yourself in the character's shoes. What in that situation would make you feel secure? What would make you feel like you were aware of what was going on? That you could rely on your wit and foresight to help you in your quest? What would give you confidence?
Now take that away.

Anyways y’all, I’m spent. Hope this helps! Feel free to suggest more posts through my asks and inbox. Until then, I’ll be working on some super in-depth posts for my buymeacoffee page.

may I request the different riddlers with a s/o who's a video game developer?
Also unesscary fun fact that I thought was cute and wanted to share:
A group of bunnies is scientifically called a fluffle
no, i think that fact was very necessary, thank you science side of tumblr
also im assuming you want some headcanons :) p.s. you didnt specify which riddlers you wanted so i just chose four <3 i hope thats okay!
note: feel free to reblog! just please give credit where credit is due :)
Riddlers w/ a GameDeveloper!S/O
Tumblr media
BTAS!Riddler:
youre a game dev?! he is too!
....or rather he was.
ideally hes the best riddler to be with if youre a game developer. equal parts knowledgeable, helpful and caring
at first, he may see you as perhaps a rival, but if youre together, hes all for helping you out with whatever you need!
he unfortunately never got to see his own game "the riddle of the minotaur" come to fruition, so he may want to be more involved than what you would like
that game belongs to the both of you now, sorry
he adores that you have the same passions as him. but unlike his own past, he will see to it that NOTHING stops you from developing your game
just say the word and he will have your game downloaded onto every computer in all of gotham, the big simp 💕
Tumblr media
Arkham!Riddler:
what would you like to know?
this man was the head of the GCPD's cyber crime unit, im sure he would be able to answer ANY question you could possibly have
these days he comes off as a guy who couldnt be bothered to help you create a childish game... buy hey, he loves you and isnt that what he technically does all day anyways? you just have to add in the possibility of actually dying to his games
he ends up helping you in his free time ❤
how could he resist? his darling needs his help coding and coding is his second language!
he acts very "put out" with you at first. throwing in the occasional insult because thats just how he talks when hes trying to explain something to someone
he is proud though! never will you ever hear him say it but he truly is. maybe you and he could incorporate some of his malware for the good people of gotham...
Tumblr media
Dano!Riddler:
helping you with your game is his second job now! even if hes not getting paid
its no secret that this riddler would be a giant simp, so anything you ask of him, he will deliver 😍
in between his job as a forensics accountant and also being the riddler, he will always find time to check in on your progress. do you need help? do you need him to check your code? do you want something to drink? okay! hell just be over your shoulder if you need anything 😊
he will patiently explain to you how to do something the best he can. computers are really just a second nature to him, so having to explain it isnt exactly a familiar thing to him. bear with him!
he will be the first one to play your game!
no matter how easy your game is to him, he sees it as his obligation to support you in any way he can. whether your game is for a phone, pc or whatever, hes keeping it on his device forever
he would give you lots of praise and he also makes sure you know how amazing he thinks you are
Tumblr media
Capullo!Riddler:
this asshole may not care at first that youre working on a game... that is until he realizes you could join forces to bring gotham to its knees
sure! he loves you! but this eddie is a narcissist and a control freak (more than the other riddlers)
he is right there with you in developing your game
he insists that you make him your partner in all of this. he also insists that he create the basic premise of the challenges your game has.
your game is required to be intellectually challenging! its a must! no S/O of his will create something that caters to the simple-minded!
and maybe you could also let him install a few viruses and malware?
he doesnt mean to sabotage your game! hes just thinking of your common goals. why not create a game that also eradicates those who are unworthy to live in your city?
he calls the game "our baby" 😊

Happy Happy Birthday Jennifer!! @whimsicallyenchantedrose
Tumblr media
So, while I wasn’t able to write you a brand new birthday story this year, I thought it might be fun to highlight my all-time favorites of your stories. You were the first fandom friend I met and interacted with, we talked the show and plot points and character development together, and you helped me begin to navigate Tumblr back when I first joined. It’s been a gift to know you all that time, and your writing is a gift to us all! You’ve written so many GREAT stories that it was hard to narrow down, but I have settled on my top half dozen at last to highlight for your special day -- with some cover art for a few of them!!! 💖 Hope this gift serves to remind you of all you’ve written and created and how much all of it - and you!! - are loved. 🥰
The Strongest Magic - This short MC is one of your very early works - a Neverland season 3a divergent tale, but where it diverges gives us powerful adventure and emotion, sacrifice, and much earlier admission and acceptance of the love between our Pirate and Princess. I simply adore it - it squeezes your heart for sure, but it also wraps you up in a wonderful happy ending by the time you are finished.
Tumblr media
A Wish Your Heart Makes , Getting to I Do & Mysterious Fathoms Below - This series of longer, connected multi-chapters (The "By Land or By Sea" trilogy) is simply EPIC!!! I don't know how to sing the praises of this story half as much as it deserves. There's adventure in the Enchanted Forest, Camelot, and even under the sea! There's so much beautiful love story for CS (and even some lovely, redemptive Outlaw Queen as well), and @whimsicallyenchantedrose even incorporates some unexpected and perfectly cast characters of myth and legend and her own creation alongside our faves. I don't want to give too much away, but these stories MUST BE read! Once you do, you'll want to read them over and over again.
Happily Ever After - This short MC was originally part of your Fluffy Fridays compilation, and I have often revisited the few chapters of this on their own and definitely think of them as their own little stand-alone story. I love the family recipes, the competition, the rivalry that becomes something much sweeter.... it's a truly delicious addition to your collection of writing!
Tumblr media
Caribbean Shores - This lovely little MC reads more like a modern day AU, though they are in Storybrooke and many of our favorite characters still appear. I love the cute sweetness of this one, and the adorable addition of a few scheming cuties from MM's class when she takes them for a field trip tour of the Jolly Roger from Killian. ;) All the sizzle and attraction is there for Emma and Killian right from the start, and though she tries to resist (Why is she always so stubborn?!?) She can't do it for long...
Under the Apple Tree - It's hard to even express how much I adore this fic originally written between season six and season seven of canon. The way @whimsicallyenchantedrose wove in what we knew might be coming in season seven and then supposed what still could happen (a lot of which I would have loved to really see!) is simply brilliant. I love the relationships explored and the way the plot unfolds. It's a special and unique version of our beloved characters, and of course the unstoppable power of Captain Swan to always find each other again is fully on display too! ;p
Tumblr media
Until the Stars are all Alight - Wow, this story must have been such a daunting task to undertake - one I would have been afraid to tackle, but the skill with which the OuaT world and the LotR world are woven together, how the plotlines come together and reach fruition, and how the characters coincide for best use so seamlessly is truly admirable and just adds to the depth and power of this full multi-chapter adventure. It has heart and hope and True Love conquering all - all the best things we love so much from the world of fairy tales and the brain of J.R. R. Tolkien!

@curlyparmesan replied to your post “hi! guess who's alive! this is just the page from...”:
You made that?? It's so good!! I know nothing about Hollow Knight but it looks so pretty.
BWEH THANK U 😭-
but also oh man okay now i have to yell because this game. it's like. ok. so the game is about this little bug
Tumblr media
(absolute creature. unauthorized fucking thing.) known variably as "the knight", the "little ghost", "pale thing", "small friend"- the point is they don't really have a name, or an identity, or any memories, or any personality, or anything. (spoiler alert: they have all of these.)
the game starts with you entering "Hallownest," a deteriorating subterranean kingdom of bugs that has been slowly rotting for an unknown amount of time as a mysterious infection consumes it from within. the king is missing; the queen has barricaded herself into her home out of an unspecified grief; all but a handful of citizens are dead; and nobody wants to sleep, because if you do the infection will come to take over your dreams and drive you mad. and dying doesn't free you from this because it just fills you with goo and puppets your corpse around! fun.
so your job as this little creature is to find out what's causing the dreaming sickness and put a stop to it.
there is a way you are supposed to put a stop to it. this is the easiest, worst, and most horrifying ending.
describing the story any further would delve into spoilers that are absolutely more fun to discover (and going lore-hunting is at least half the fun of the game - make sure to explore everywhere), but like. these little 16 pixels will RIP your HEART from your BODY. they will cause AGONIES. you'll be on the floor crying about bugs and you WILL like it.
as far as gameplay goes, it's a 2D sidescroller/metroidvania style, which put me off it for a long time because i haaaaaaaaaate metroidvanias. i actually started it, got past the first boss (which is a testament to how good it is in and of itself, because usually i get to the first enemy and am just like "nah"), went "oh right I hate metroidvanias," and gave up. and then about three days later i was like, "...but I want to know what happens next." as it turns out, it's actually highly moddable, so I stuck god mode on and played through the entire thing three times in about a month. I've actually weaned myself off of it for a couple of encounters, which is even more impressive! Troupe Master Grimm also headlines my very very very short list of "bosses I not only tolerate, but actively enjoy" (alongside essej from control + tom and hel from ghostrunner. that's the entire list.) combat is... still hard, but can be rewarding - it's mostly timing-based and there's a parry mechanic whose window is so fucking microscopic but actually managing it is really satisfying.
(also, like-
-i can't even go into details because it's BIIIG spoilers but like. the way two of the characters parry. like their stances and stuff. i'm screaming and wailing and tearing out my hair over the Implications of that-)
and the MUSIC too. the THEMES and MOTIFS. the way certain characters' leitmotifs creep into different areas or into other characters' themes... POETIC CINEMA. i could, have, and will continue to listen to the main theme, dirtmouth bgm, and city of tears bgm on repeat for hours. (also bonus favorite boss theme. the fact that this man is not a Tumblr Sexyman(tm) continues to boggle me-)
another thing I really like is that you're not the only adventurer in the world. there's not really a companion mechanic (though there are some upgrades that will give you little minions, and you can kill a clown and he'll give you his son as a reward), but there's a couple of other characters you can encounter periodically across the game who are on their own quests, which depending on your actions you can help bring to fruition or not. it just feels like the kind of thing you don't see very often? but this kingdom is known in-universe to draw adventurers, and there... actually are other adventurers. idk. it's neat.
anyway. play hollow knight. it will hurt you but you won't regret it.

Important announcement regarding the fansite.
Erlande (@kingpattillo) and I have made the extremely difficult decision to archive the site. You can read more about it in our final update. If you don’t see it right away please be sure you clear your browser’s cache. Otherwise, I’ll be copying the text into a read more for those of you who are on mobile.
We said it in the post but thank you to everyone who supported us in making this. We’re so proud of the work we did and so happy that it was such an amazing resource for so many people. While this situation sucks, it’s been heartwarming that our sense of community hasn’t gone away.
Thanks again <3
The Final Update
Yeah, this shouldn't be surprising, considering that a lot has happened over the weekend.
First, on October 14th, Matt Bragg made this tweet explaining that his position at Achievement Hunter had been dissolved. If you weren't around for it, this news was met with an outpour of support from the community and fellow RT/AH employees. Matt's stream the following day blew his sub goals out of the water, ending with over 15,000 Twitch subs. While the community focused on showering Matt with love, there were also questions about why Rooster Teeth dissolved the position of one of their beloved talents. Kdin Jenzen then made this tweet shortly after the community started to talk about Matt's leave, and how upset they were about it.
Kdin's account of the transphobia, wage theft, and workplace abuse she suffered while working at RT was extremely heartbreaking to read. Apologies from Michael, Gavin, and Geoff came out soon after. While Michael's tweet was met with this reply from Kdin saying she forgave him, and Gavin's got no interaction from Kdin at all. Most notably, her reply to Geoff was a direct call to action. Here is a link to that interaction.
Soon, Twitter was flooded with ex-employees, contractors, and former friends of Rooster Teeth, who all had similar things to say. Many of them talk about crunchtime, overtime that was never compensated, pay that was laughably low when compared to the industry standard, and an HR department that seemed pretty keen on keeping a lawsuit from happening, rather than helping their employees.
We won't be linking any specific threads here on the fansite because there are just so many of them. A quick search of "Rooster Teeth" on Twitter will pull up a lot, as well as Tumblr. The Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunter subreddits have a lot of information, too.
The two of us started this project on March 30th, 2022 because of our mutual love for Achievement Hunter. Initially, we saw a need for a site like this, a place where general information about Achievement Hunter could be found. Our main goal was that we wanted this to be a place where the community could come and check out what's new, see any announcements they missed, and have a comprehensive list of series and descriptions. We had so many plans for this website that will now never come to fruition.
We cannot in good faith continue to produce fan content for a company that treats their employees the way Rooster Teeth does. We fully condemn their actions and stand firmly with the victims and the people who have suffered underneath them. Over the years, it has become clear that the company, despite the trials and tribulations of so many former (and current) employees, refuses to change for the better. They have cultivated a toxic culture that has come to a head this weekend, and because of that, we've made the heavy decision to archive the website.
The site will remain up, and the features of it all active, but besides some minor maintenance, we will no longer be making updates to it. We put a lot of hard work and effort into this site to just see it gone, so it will remain up as a resource, like it was always meant to be. We really wish it didn't have to end like this. It would have been nice to at least see this site turn one year old, but the people who have suffered under Rooster Teeth mean more to us, and we will always stand by them.
Finally, we want to say thank you to everyone who has visited the fansite, as well as those who have sent us words of encouragement on our personal Tumblr accounts. The fansite couldn't have gone over as well as it did without your guys' help and support. Despite everything, we're glad we can still come together as a community.
We love you,                Erlande and Mars ♡

Do you have any headcanons w ex machina in regards to how the whole chase-and-tease thing between akira and akechi are gonna go w the parallel of phantom thief lwader versus detective (one scene from the og game would be the "welcome home honey" scene)
sorry anon i am working thru these one at a time 😭😭 been off tumblr for a good bit.
headcanons, headcanons.... honestly i'm surprised its taken this long for someone to ask regarding my plans for them since it IS tagged akeshu, but it's also a very slow burn so i suppose there's that HDKSJH
i think that the chase-and-tease is very prevalent (and integral to akeshu's dynamic) so i'm very excited to explore their typical roles swapped!! as of right now they're caught up in a literal chase—akechi avoids akira like the plague, and akira hunts him down for sport LOL (not on purpose though. it really has been a series of fateful coincidences; thanks a lot, yaldy)
i think what i'll have most fun with is exploring the "tease" part. both of them know much more than the other is letting on, and part of the enjoyment is watching them snipe at each other while keeping their defenses so high. while in-canon we don't get to see it as in depth as we could (since we're only shown the ""twist"" at the time akiren's plan's already come to fruition) i'll definitely have a lot of fun picking that apart in swap.
in terms of specific scenes, though. "welcome home honey" will probably stay; i can see akira saying it to akechi with a shit eating grin on his face. i already drew out small comics for their billiards games, but to recap: akira intentionally throws the games, and akechi refuses to use his left hand. only when akira shows his true strength will akechi respect his opponent and show off his true hand.
akira also just hangs out at leblanc a lot. despite living and working there part time, akechi is shit at coffee and curry (loses his patience often and just doesn't have the Barista's Touch) and so akira likes to hang around and show him up, makes coffee beautifully. sojiro asks akira if he'd live out in the attic instead. akechi pretends not to care that akira's better at him at this (god he so does.)
other than coffee/curry though, akechi beats akira at pretty much everything he challenges him to, though a lot of it's attributed to akira never really rising to the challenge. akechi puts his all into beating him and akira puts up a decent fight, but ultimately loses, again and again, because as fucked up as it sounds he knows that serving akechi's ego is what'll keep akira around. but over time, akira holds back less and becomes more and more invested into their little competitions—chess, darts, billiards, arcade games, batting, debates—and realizes that oh, oh, he likes this. he likes that akechi forces him to fight. it's fun, and it's dangerous, and he's in way too fucking deep by the time november rolls around because as much as he wants to fight against akechi fair and square, how is he supposed to oppose the whims of the masters of the game? he's just the pawn who pulls the trigger, and he prays for dear life that his standard bad luck (curse affinity) will fuck with the gamemasters for good. he's a trickster no matter what universe he's plopped in, huh.
anyway thank you so much for the ask anon <333 and im so sorry i'm only getting to you now!!

I’m like super new to the Mortal Kombat fandom so when I first saw your blog in passing it was confusing for me as I knew Sub Zero as Kuai but with the new game coming out and learning about the game and the various timelines, you have single handedly (with some other Tumblr blogs) have gotten me hooked onto Bi Han. Your head canons make so much sense and honestly they are canon to me (Boon doesn’t know anything). I also want to say that I really appreciate the deep dives you’ve done and your posts which inspired me to start up my writing again (MK included) and just have fun in the fandom. I also wanted to let you know that there are people who want to read whatever you write, even if the haters and mean people like to infiltrate the ask box from time to time!
Thank you so much lovely! It’s wonderful comments like this that keep me motivated to keep creating, really I can’t thank you enough. Also welcome to the fandom! All the lore around the Sub-Zero Bros. can be quite confusing for someone just getting into the fandom hell a lot of times seasoned fans get confused sometimes too. I’m so glad though that you’re hooked on Bi-Han though! My master plan of building a Bi-Han army is slowly coming to fruition haha I just love him so much and I love others who love him too, I love to talk about him and compare ideas about him! I’m so honored that my silly ramblings have inspired you to write! I’m especially excited to see what you write about MK wise! That’s so awesome! Please feel free to tag me in it! My timeline tends to get quite flooded with things other than MK and I don’t always get to see everything because the tumblr app is garbage and crashes constantly and only lets me see some of my moots feed. I’d love to read it though! Thank you so much for saying there are people who want to read whatever I write it really makes me feel good and like I’m actually contributing to the kommunity in a positive way and that feels incredible. Thankfully I don’t have to deal with a lot of haters much anymore, that’s not to say I never deal with it but I don’t post it when I get it. I just delete it and go about my day. I used to get really bothered by hate and get really down on myself but lately I just remind myself of all the wonderful lovelies who do support me and I don’t let myself get overwhelmed by those who don’t. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok! I just prefer if people block me instead of send hate which is my overall suggestion to every fandom, block people, don’t harass them. Again I just want to say thank you so much for your wonderfully kind comments, it really made my day. 🥰 I love this game and kommunity and work really hard to try and create things people enjoy and when people let me know they do it just makes my heart soar. Sending love to you and the kommunity. 💙

I've been summoned by @catiuskaa to do this
post the names of all the files in your wip folder regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous they are. let people send you an ask with any titles most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have wips.
So... I have a lot of ideas per day, okay? But I take the ones that I really want to do between them; and then I develop only a few ones out of the mentioned... Conclusion: I'm a mess, but a really successful mess.
And personally I think this is good for catching up and remembering things that you may have forgotten, but are actually good ideas.
Spoiler alert: maybe I'm not doing all of them, they are just as @catiuskaa's ones: drafts, things put on hold that I don't know if they will come to fruition in the end.
SO, to the point: I have this things going on
Annie Leonhart x !fem reader boxing AU - if it's not my biggest project to date (launched) it's definitely one of them. I don't really have a title for it, but i'm already writing it. It's one of this ones that are like 7k words or so. But it will be worth it, I promise. Plus it's so entertaining researching about boxing and stuff.
La Casa de Papel / Money Heist hcs - i'm planning to do some ones. Fluff stuff basically. I don't even know if this will do here, at Tumblr, but I'm gonna try (and if not, I'll just publish it in spanish in wattpad 😐) By the way, Requests open for this one
Moving in with Larissa Weems hcs - more Larissa relationship hcs guys :D fluff x2 and some nsfw too
"Stop making me wanna kiss you" Eddie Munson (Stranger Things) - I literally just have this phase and the character
Levi Ackerman AU Soulmates - I didn't even decide what specific type of soulmates au lmao
"You are going to do great" Emma Watson - cute fic, just that, a cute tiny fic :)
Tagging: okay listen me here. I don't know personally people here, so I'll just put my mutuals (that for some reason which I don't understand, follow me back haha) luv u

Behind the Keyboard: Volume 2
Tumblr media
Behind the Keyboard is a series of interviews with different Schitt’s Creek fanfic authors. The series will last as long as there is interest (from authors) and capacity (from me). If you are an author from the Schitt’s Creek fandom who would like to participate, send a DM to this account.
Each author was given ten questions. The first five questions are the same for every author, the last five will vary.
Remember, this year’s Reading Challenge begins July 15, so polish up those MFL lists.
Let’s meet our next author:
mallpretzles / @mallpretzles
How many fics have you written?
20 - All for Schitt’s Creek.
When did you publish your first fic on AO3?
8/1/21
Describe your writing process from “Oh, I have an idea” to pushing publish on AO3.
I immediately start a google doc when I get an idea. I can add to it if I think of something I want to include or write a paragraph here and there. Brainstorming with my writer friends when I’m stuck is very helpful with getting to the finish line. They also talk me off a ledge when I’ve procrastinated too long and it just isn’t coming together. The last step before publishing is to panic that it’s not good enough. I’m a perfectionist and my own worst critic but I’m getting better!
Tell me about your most recent fic. What do you love about it? Is there anything you think you could have done better?
It’s called The Truce and it was my first anon ask. I love that two people in the fandom came together and made a fic idea come to fruition. The anon loved it so this fic is extra special to me. Something else I do (because I’m ridiculous) is run my fic through a text reader. Hearing it read back is much different than reading it because you catch things you ordinarily wouldn’t have especially if you don’t have a beta. In terms of whether the fic could be better, of course. I always think my fics could be better even if I’m happy with how they turned out
What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about publishing their fic for the first time?
Use a beta!! You will be much happier with the result and having a beta I trust has been invaluable. If you’re interested in being a beta make a post about it because a lot of writers have no idea how/where to find one. Your fic will never be perfect so just rip the bandaid off and publish it. Tag the hell out of your fic so it’s easier to find. Use a pseud that sticks out from the rest so readers are more likely to remember it. Lastly, choose a fic title that is unique or used less frequently so it doesn’t pop up with multiple other fics in a search.
Plot vs vibes - pick one.
Vibes. I think anyone can come up with a plot but your vibe is what makes a fic unique to you. It also shows readers what to expect from your writing so if they're looking for something specific they may be more likely to keep your fics in mind.
If you could say one thing to your fellow fic writers, what would it be?
Writing should be fun! If it’s stressing you out then consider taking a break and do some self care instead. I have one more, which is to support other writers. Reblog their posts and if they don’t have Tumblr make a post with a link to their fic. If you see that a writer is struggling then consider reaching out to offer support.
If you could say one thing to the people who read your fic, what would it be?
Thank you!!! Your support and encouragement means the world to me! I really look forward to your comments and what you thought about the fic. It makes me a better writer and your encouragement keeps me motivated to continue writing.
Do you think your fics have a brand? What is it?
Yes. I like writing about David & Patrick’s emotions, vulnerability, and their relationship dynamics. The show not tell of nonverbal body language is a bitch but it often conveys emotions/feelings that dialogue just can’t. It also gives the fic more life and pulls you into the character’s experiences. It definitely helps with the pining idiots trope especially so for Patrick. I’m drawn toward writing angst but it always results in strengthening their relationship and/or gaining a better understanding of each other. Okay, and smut.
Tell me about one of your favorite headcanons.
Patrick changes his mind about going slow. We all saw the want in their second kiss, which also  leads me to believe that he’s confident and competent in the bedroom despite his lack of experience. Rachel and not coming out to his parents were fear based and not necessarily things he was trying to hide. David shouldn’t have been as upset as he was since he also avoided talking about the past.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Rules: post the top 5 works you’re most proud of that you released in 2022 (not necessarily your most popular), your top 4 current WIPs that you’re excited to release in the new year, your top 3 biggest improvements in your writing over the past year, your top 2 resolutions (ways you wish to improve your writing/blog) for the new year, and your number 1 favorite line you’ve written this year!
Tagged by the lovely @chelle-68 🥰🥰
5 works (in no particular order)
How long till we reach the door?
My first E fic and longest published fic to date. For whatever reason, it was one of the easiest fics for me to write, and is still one of my favorites. I also experimented with a dual POV, and I liked how it turned out.
Lock it up
The idea for this fic came about from a random tumblr post about David being Patrick's lock screen photo. For whatever reason, I really enjoy (HEA, obviously) fics where the Brewers learn that Patrick is gay/about his relationship in an alternate way. I think it's because it's a miracle he did keep the secret as long as he did.
A taste of you
From a prompt for Frozen Over. I'm sure the prompter did not intend for there to be as many ball jokes in a cake pop decorating meet-cute, but unfortunately I have the humor of a 12 year old boy. I still love this fic, and I like that I was able to include the phone call from canon, as well as Stevie because I love her.
Kiss & tell
The idea that Patrick would befriend the neighborhood ladies absolutely delights me, and power walking seemed to be the best way to do it. I also love that no matter how much gossip two local business-owning queer men may have, the busybody old ladies always know more.
(He) was a fast machine
Poor, newly single Patrick has to listen to his upstairs neighbors have sex. Loudly. Constantly. At least he can make friends, right? I'm glad others enjoyed this fic, because I love it and was delighted the whole time while writing it!
4 wips
I have a handful of wips I could share, but these are the most likely to actually come to fruition. I get distracted easily, therefore I write slow. I'm also more focused on drawing right now, so.
Post-canon vacation fic!
This will be my longest fic to date, and I am very excited about it. Mostly just lots of sex and soft husband's.
David's mirror
A slightly angsty fic I started recently. Basically, David's struggle with self-image.
How long till we reach the door? Continuation
1, possibly 2 more chapter about what happens after their first meeting!
Romeo and Juliet au.
What it says, except way less death. HEA guaranteed, of course.
3 biggest improvements
The first is just that I started writing, I suppose. I had a teacher in high school who absolutely hated my writing, for whatever reason, and had me convinced I was Bad at writing. Then I posted a silly little fic and all my friends were so lovely about it that I kept trying.
I would say I got better at recognizing how I write. I tend to need to get the general actions written out in a scene before I go back in and flesh out more depth and emotion.
I learned a lot more about dialogue punctuation. I haven't written much dialogue... ever, so I spent time trying to make sure I do it right.
2 resolutions
Write more! I really do enjoy writing, and I would like to carve out more time to do it.
Take more time to plot. I work a lot better when I have a structure to follow, so if I take the time in the beginning, I think it will be easier to stick with ideas.
Number 1 Favorite Line
"She never thought to wonder what he might not have wanted captured." From Lock it up.
I don't know that I really have a favorite line I've written, but part of my Marcy series centers around her desire to be involved and fully supportive of her new life. I headcanon that the older he got, the less Patrick liked having pictures of himself taken because it was too close to showing how he felt inside. It's hard to live a lie when it's staring you in the face, right? So now that he's accepted this huge part of himself, he starts taking pictures again and Marcy is delighted.

Hello! I finally finished the podcast episode and I really agreed with Grey's point about how the character writing for season 2 is so much worse than bad writing on something like supernatural. Because as someone who is also into bad episodic tv shows the expectations are completely different. Even if a character does something ooc or terrible it could add to the complexity of their character or it can even be completely disregarded or retconned but in a serialized show where you only have six episodes and the whole show functions as a single narrative it just doesn't work.
Do you guys think that this season would have worked better if it was more episodic? Like having a different mystery/flashback every episode slowly building to the big reveal at the end?
Also I don't know if you guys have discussed this on the podcast but was the writing process for this really rushed? Because so much of this season felt like a first draft where they wrote the conclusion first and tried to work backwards from there but even that doesn't make sense because the only real buildup to what Aziraphale does is in the first two minisodes?? It almost makes me want to look at his tumblr but thankfully I have enough self preservation skills to avoid that.
yeah agreed it is six 50-minute long episodes you cannot be inconsistent in there!!!
grey is a big fan of sitcom omens so i think he agrees that it'd be better if it was episodic!
for me, i'm not too sure because i think the mystery itself doesn't have legs. the final ep's Big Reveal to ME is that heaven is planning to redo the apocalypse Right Fucking Now, but crowley doesn't even react to that; she's just curious about why gabriel is anti-apocalypse. the Big Reveal based on what the narrative spends time on and has all the characters gasp about becomes the gabriel/beelzebub reveal, which 1. i don't think is the reason gabriel doesn't want the apocalypse?? he said "instead of armageddon, no armageddon" before they got close??? so what was that shit even 2. is barely even related to why gabriel got mindwiped 3. doesn't answer the "why did you come to my shop?" part of the mystery. and sure, maybe if i cared about b/g At All (sorry to everyone who does like how they were implemented in the show you're all still valid etc etc) and they actually Had 3D Personalities, the way the show clumsily tries to do "you thought it was about Something Terrible coming for everyone, but it was actually about love and being on your own side, and isn't that what a/c are all about?" (at least i THINK that's what they were trying to do?) would hit, but i don't and it doesn't
i've been thinking about what the strengths of s1 are, and i think they're 1. the dynamic between a/c and how very likable they both are 2. aziraphale's pre-ex-christian arc 3. keeping the plot and stakes present throughout 4. having multiple pov characters - even if some of them got tedious, i think the whole "i wish aziraphale and crowley cared about humans more so they seemed more invested in the saving the world angle" doesn't bring s1 down too much because we see the Them and anathema and remember that these are brave and kind ppl who have lives and those lives rlly are at stake
#1 remains in s2, except for some overly corny or self-referential moments. #2 tries to be here but, as you said, it's rlly only the two minisodes that play to it, and maybe the unexpectedness of it in s2e6 is purposeful, but i would have liked to see more! #3 is floppy, limp, flaccid, even. i'm prob just repeating things i've said in recordings already but muriel and heaven pose absolutely no threat! the "fight scenes" when hell finally storms the bookshop are filmed so badly that i never even considered being stressed! the book of life threat, which i thought was the whole motivation behind all of crowley's actions in s2, comes to fruition, and crowley doesn't give a single shit and it's just luck regarding the metatron's timing that saves aziraphale's existence. #4 doesn't happen, which is why we get maggie as thee worst-written character in gomens history. it's a mess!
when you said episodic + revealing pieces of the mystery, though, if i combine that with #4, something i think COULD be fun is a the afterparty s1-esque season. basically, each ep is from a different char's POV and they're all retelling how they experienced the last week using a genre that reflects how they think. the last ep would be gabriel's pov, and we could have a longer b/g flashback series that actually feels believable there and a better explanation of why he and beelzebub are against the apocalypse, OR gabriel is the second-to-last ep so that aziraphale can get ep1 and crowley can get ep6, wherein the final fifteen happens. i'm imagining aziraphale would omit the divorce but the background of his interview would weirdly look a lot like heaven, and then finally in ep6 we cut to sloppy-drunk carly rae jepsen-blasting divorcee anthony j. crowley who fills in that last piece (though you could also swap them around). the other POV-ers would be muriel, shax, and nina (or maggie if you insist). we'd lose "a companion to owls" and some time with our ethereal girlies, but i think it would be worth it.
i actually did not know much about the s2 writing process, but i just searched around and found this post (link) summarizing an interview/con in 2022, and tl;dr, it was rushed, and it sorta WAS written ending-first! neilman pitched the general plot without the ending in august 2019, then partnered with john finnemore and came up with the ending in december 2019, then started writing in summer 2020. filming happened in late 2021-early 2022, so the two of them had ~a year? meanwhile, there's a third draft of gomens s1e1 from 2015 floating around (link), AND a lot of it is straight from a book that 1. terry pratchett was involved in 2. the authors had been trying to adapt basically since 1990. i'm assuming s3 is going to be written on a timeline similar to s2, which is part of why i have low hopes for it, though, if neilman is to be believed, at least the idea for it has been developing for longer than the idea for s2?
- Crystal :)

okay i wanted to expand a bit on the post i made about ikkan 5D chess with an Actual explanation of my hcs
I’m really starting to like the idea that the members of sqsq had major character development between s1 and s3.
TLDR:
Tumblr media
Ichiya is described as selfish, overconfident, etc, and i would imagine fame just Amplified that. He probably has the gifted kid syndrome of “everything comes easy to me so i don’t even have to try” despite the fact that raw talent can only get you so far. He’s the peak example of a gifted adhd kid who gets gifted kid burnout. I imagine that’s why we didn’t see any music from him in that time- he was burnt out, because he found out that running a band (or, solo career) is HARD and it’s more than just banging out some tunes. It’s not until he recovers (maybe with the help of unnamed clam guy? trying to fit them into this nintendo pls give us the lore) that he and the others can start front roe. Finally, after all these years, that true “potential” has come to fruition and squid squad truly no longer needs Ikkan to do the heavy lifting. I think during the hiatus he did some self reflecting- one of my hcs is that he hit a MAJOR creative block, which he endlessly tried to overcome but never found himself able to until he realized what was ACTUALLY causing it. Only after that was he able to meet back up with everybody and start making music again. Maybe there’s some good ol’ power of friendship going on, with him realizing that it’s okay to not be able to do everything on your own and that he WASN’T this perfect rock star he thought he was.
Which isn’t to say Ikkan is perfect. I’m starting to like the hc that he’s blunt to a fault and doesn’t spend a lot of time thinking about what others might feel about the things he said. I think leaving sqsq was an impulse decision, probably after one of the band members (likely ichiya) did something stupid. Ikkan didn’t say much about leaving, and he REALLY came to regret that. When he realized he seriously hurt everybody, he just. Withdrew. He felt too ashamed to try and really apologize, because he felt so awful about how he went about leaving. It was Warabi who really pushed him to Finally talk to them. (Although at this point i hc Ichiya hadn’t had his Character Development yet and went OFF on Ikkan, leaving Warabi to pick up the pieces and convince Ichiya that Ikkan isn’t a bad person. (Ichiya and Ikkan ended up becoming pretty good friends through this)
As for Nami and Murasaki, I don’t have too much on them simply because I had to scrap a lot of my hcs about them bc i realized it didn’t fit in with the lore. I’m Working On It. If anybody has any ideas tho i’d love to hear em lol. My original hcs were that Nami joined competitive tower control and Murasaki went to college, but i’m still iffy on if that works for them. Nami MIGHT have made some solo music, but I don’t think it ever really went anywhere
Anyway, after all this happens, Ikkan is able to actually apologize and Ichiya accepts it, giving an apology himself. Now that he’s in a new band, Ikkan realizes that Ichiya has finally grown to reach that potential. He isn’t going to rejoin or anything because he doesn’t want to undo all that progress, but he and Warabi agree to make a cameo on Front Roe’s newest song, Sandy Side Up. From this point on, i think they’re friends again :)
Thank you for reading have a bonus drawing. (tumblr is glitching so it might just show up as another deeply flawed ichiya, thanks tumblr)

Pearl, Opal, Morganite please!
Thank you my dear!! Let's hit it.
Pearl - What does your typical creative process look like for you? Usually clear flash of idea/line of dialogue - and then we build from there. Fics take around 2/3 sessions to write. Like @mochie85 I LOVE the editing process ^^ I like to spend some time making sure I have things just so and how I want them. And then when I start freaking out about minor details...it's time to post it😂 Opal - What's a new idea/trope/concept you'd like to introduce into your writing. I do have a particularly weird concept coming to fruition but I don't want to say too much in case I bottle it 😂 It's in the same ballpark as The Legend of Long Dong Laufeyson. ALSO I really want to write an 'Only One Bed' by god...I will do it! I read so many in my pre-tumblr days I think I'm a bit scared of the pressure 😂 There are so many good ones.
Morganite - How would you compare yourself now, with when you started to create? For writing specifically, I feel a lot more free. @lokischambermaid introduced me to a quote which went something like "a writer who is not writing is a madman." or words to that effect, and I definitely notice when I haven't had time to write😂 It's like leeches sucking away my anxiety. Just the act of "creating something" is very soothing for me. I also feel a lot more confident in my sexuality, which is nice :)
