me: and so, in the end, each of our main three characters is condemned to an ending that uniquely unmakes them and their arc. each suffers a fate which is the individualized, exquisitely specific manifestation of everything they had been fighting to grow past. the tragedy and torment of their respective scripted endings are so tailored and so personal, we might almost compare them to the personalized torments of the circles of hell. that’s right, we might almost consider these characters to be each trapped in a sort of narrative tartarus, suffering in ways that only the story itself knows them well enough to beget. thus, while within the plot they end up in heaven, we who exist outside the medium can see well enough that their stories are actually trapped in quite the opposite place.
