Racist Experiences in the Marauders Fandom
These anonymous submissions come from a survey I published several weeks ago where I asked for fans in the Marauders fandom to share their experiences with me. I was overwhelmed with the results, and this is, in their own words, some of the submissions I was sent.
There has been lost of push back against fans using POC fan casts for various characters
weird reactions to desi james or east asian sirius!!
I have seen people get upset when characters are fancast as non-white actors (like dev Patel for James)
Clash of opinions about fanon Hermione being black
I have seen lots of racism towards people's newer fancasts, as all the OGs (ben barnes, andrew garfield, aaron taylor-johnson, etc.) are white and some people are trying to change that!
I saw a fanart one time, where james had a darker skin (he was latino) and someone commented that it doesn't suit him
I draw Sirius black as Asian and I’ve gotten quite a few racist comments about this and I’ve seen a lot of racism about desi James. Also when BIPOC people cosplay characters that people think are “white”
People tend to cast characters as white, and sometimes I see people getting mad someone is fancasting a non-canonically black character as black or as a person of colour (I've seen some good black Remus, non-white Lily, non-white Peter fancasts, and yet, there is still peope being sooo mad about it like??). Sadly, I think a lot of people can tell about the fact that fancasts are often discussed and hated for no reason when they're not white or whatever, when it's basically just a fancast, that goes against the "canon" a bigot (JKR) made up.
the first that’s coming to mind is people fighting against the interpretation/portrayal of characters as poc (most often james bs i think he’s most popularly hced as desi but also others) either that or just straight up gatekeeping
Only the general feeling that the white characters are more interesting and loved than any of the characters of color. Racebending seems token, like nobody wants to be exclusionary but also don't have the comfort or confidence to make that diversity ring true in terms of cultural resonance. By cultural resonance I don't only mean make them ethnic but to portray and discuss or casually mention the postcolonial personhood or third culture kid experience as applies.
A comment on my fic about making it a “racial jungle”, saying that it wasn’t accurate for the time period even though representation of races otherwise had no significance in the fic
theres is a lot people that will fight tooth and nail for exclusively white maruaders (in terms of fancasts) and they slander other people in the fandom for using more diverse fancasts such as desi james or black evan
I've seen it in passing, especially towards POC writers/people who HC characters who were not diverse in canon.
People not wanting desi Potters in art or otherwise
One Harry Potter fan got mad at me for drawing James (and Harry) dark skinned
GOD THE FRIKIN FANCASTS. They really don't matter that much and everyone makes it such a big deal. To me at least- representation only really matters if its real. If there's fat Peter, darkskin Dorcas, desi James, or Japanese Sirius/Regulus in a fanfic, that is the representation of that. It doesn't need to be reflected in a fancast used in an edit. Personal opinion but annoying as fuck I just wish everyone would enjoy the fact that someone spent time pouring over numerous tiny clips from many different TV shows and movies just for fun, and other people getting mad that they didn't use a person that literally doesn't exist angers me to no end.
mostly just a complete ignorance of POC identities. sometimes poc characters are ignored in favour of white characters. but also, even when POC are centered, i often see like a lot of fetishization and stereotyping and it's just... not good...
there’s a lot of jewish people in the fandom that have pointed out antisemitism within the fandom a few times. i am not jewish, and i cannot speak on the issue, but that’s something i’ve heard a lot. i’ve also seen the whitewashing of fancasts for characters like mary and dorcas who are widely accepted to be women of color, so that feels weird to me, but i think? that’s everything i’ve noticed or heard.
i've seen racism thrown to black creators, poc fancasts, and at myself for being arab and head-cannoning the black brother as arab.
There was a black dude cosplaying remus and their were people saying remus wasnt a N-word but it was a white person saying it
I have seen some fans respond in a racist way to Black fans who have called out the racism in the way in which Black characters are written and portrayed in the fandom.

hey sorry to dredge of r*by discourse i'll preface this by saying i really hate adam but i sympathize with asian ppl who see his katana / mask etc. and headcanon him as asian or japanese adjacent. do you see this as a racist / self-hating viewpoint? personally i agree with the viewpoint and think contextually that poc can sell out each other. not that i think it's wrong to view certain characters as white because crwby is full of racist white ppl but i'd like to hear your thoughts on this
i haven't seen any asian ppl hc adam as asian, but i personally hc him as a white weirdo w an asian fetish. the guy who as all those anime girl figurines, collects asian swords, and tries to correct asian ppl on things from their own culture
i feel like ppl who aren't asian probably shouldn't have a strong opinion on him in what race he is, but i'm not going to tell other asian ppl what to do
i just don't understand why anyone would want to claim him tho when he's such a horrible person

Keith is white in canon and that’s why the writers favored him and Pidge over darker skinned characters like Lance Hunk and Allura
See, here’s the thing. At the beginning, no-one’s ethnicities/backgrounds were really confirmed, and that allowed the Asian Keith hc to became really popular in the fandom. I’m pretty sure some fans genuinely thought he was canonically Asian.
So then the writers decided to purposely leave Keith’s race ambiguous, not even giving him a surname, whilst confirming everyone else’s background,
Tumblr media
because they didn’t want to lose that part of the fanbase or seem like they were favouring white characters over poc (which they were).
Especially where we had the Galra side of Keith’s race being explored - when they had people being racist to Keith - they obviously couldn’t then go on to confirm that he was actually white...
Tumblr media
... that would just be stupid.
However, it’s abundantly clear that the writers saw Keith as white. They even used him to implement the whole “white savior” trope, as has been pointed out by others.
And so because of this, Keith got much more screen time than a lot of poc, something that I will stay mad about, but to me, the biggest insult is that the screen time he got wasn’t even used well.
His development was rushed and sloppy, which I’ve talked about previously (for example this little ramble I wrote on the quantum abyss), and basically consisted of them completely molding him into a different character in the span of a few episodes so that he was now the bland hero archetype that they needed to fit the role of black paladin. None of his trauma was worked through. All of the poc, particularly Shiro, were thrown into the back seat. Keith was basically a different person - one who's personality consisted primarily of yelling, "Form Voltron!" and doing nothing wrong ever. (Although, there are a few golden moments where we can see his old personality shining through occasionally).
Ultimately, vld fucked up big time. They blatantly favoured their white and white coded characters, but in doing so completely ruined their characterization (like, don’t even get me started on what they turned Pidge into), neglected every poc character and made the whole show boring and tasteless.
anyways voltron sucks, keith is japanese, the lion switch never happened, lance hunk and shiro are valid, allura and adam are alive living their best lives, and everyone is gay

Franny Robinson HC Infodump #7: More Music Stuff
tw: mentions of psychedelic use (it’s clear it is in moderation but)
Cover Contributions To Tribute or Charity Albums (and other notable covers):
King of the Road: A Tribute to Roger Miller - Franny recorded a cover of The Moon Is High (And So Am I) for the album. There’s a really cute video uploaded on her YouTube channel of her recording the song and she’s playing acoustic guitar and dancing around in place as she sings in several takes. It’s one of the few internet videos where her husband is seen, because sometimes the camera pans to the sound engineer booth when he’s sitting next to Serghei, her go-to sound guy.
She participated on the charity album BBC Children In Need: Got It Covered, since England’s been her home from nearly twenty years now. She sang a slowed down, gentler version of Pat Benatar’s Shadows Of The Night. (inspired by that being a song I vividly remember my mom singing to my siblings and I lmao)
For the album The Music Is You: A John Denver Tribute, Franny sang Rhymes and Reasons.
On a John Prine tribute album released in 2017, Franny and the other half of the duo Dara & Danny, Daniel Maitland, recorded In Spite Of Ourselves for the album.
For a Connie Francis tribute album, Franny sang Where The Boys Are
Franny, along with black country singer Erica James, curated a Charley Pride tribute album, featuring solely country or country-adjacent singers of color. “Charley Pride, when I discovered a black country artist, as an Asian-American growing up in the 80s, that was amazing to me. Because little Cambodian me was like, ‘wow, so you don’t gotta look like Dolly or Willie to love this music.’ Everyone thinks country and bluegrass music is white people shit, but it ain’t. It was always a mix of folks influencin’ it. DeFord Bailey paved the way for Charley Pride, who paved the way for Darius Rucker, who paved the way for Jimmie Allen, Willie Jones, Mickey Guyton, Erica right here, and non-black POC like myself and Dan(iel Maitland). It was such an honor to get to curate this album with Erica. Amazing.” Franny recorded Does My Ring Hurt Your Finger for the album.
On the Tracy Lawrence tribute album Good Ole Days, she recorded As Any Fool Can See with him
She was featured on Brooks & Dunn’s Reboot, recording She’s Not The Cheatin’ Kind
During a SiriusXM session, she sang Gretchen Wilson’s When I Think About Cheatin’, and the performance w/ent viral
On a Leonard Cohen tribute album, she recorded A Thousand Kisses Deep and that cover also became popular
During a Spotify Sessions recording with Seoul Hanoi’d, Franny recorded a cover of Marcy Playground’s Sex & Candy, which also blew up, prompting Seoul Hanoi’d to officially release it on their 2018 album. It was the second of five singles off of the album, and Franny in the music video was Hot ™
During a Spotify Sessions recording as a solo artist, Franny recorded a cover of Kris Kristofferson’s From The Bottle To The Bottom
Khmer Music:
Franny, for the most part, does not record or perform pop music. However, she’s collaborated on tracks with Cambodian pop singers
She writes a lot of songs used in the soundtracks of Khmer tv dramas, and sings a lot of them as well
She’s known as The Soundtrack Queen in Cambodia
In addition to a lot of songs for film and tv, she’s released three albums entirely in Khmer. A jazz album comprised of original songs and Khmer language versions of classic jazz songs; and two in the indie/alternative style of music similar to Seoul Hanoi’d
And she’s recorded Khmer versions of several of her most famous songs
With other Cambodian diaspora musicians, she regularly collaborates on special covers of iconic Khmer 60s and 70s songs
Songwriting
Franny’s even more active as a songwriter than a recording artist. She’s got over 1,000 songwriting credits to her name.
She began writing songs “when I was 11, but they were atrocious, unsalvageable things. The first song I wrote that ever saw the light of day even after heavy edits was first thought up when I was thirteen.”
Franny is openly bisexual and explores that in her songwriting-- however, most of her songs about women or her sexuality that she wrote “pre-2009-ish” she’s scrapped or sold to other artists. Why? “Look, I’ve been married to my husband for almost twenty years now. And that doesn’t make me any less bisexual. But a lot of the songs I’ve written about women are from the perspective of a thirteen through twenty year old me, and at forty, I’m not the best narrator for those stories anymore. They are my lived experiences and my lived feelings, but I want to see how someone actually going through that will take it and interpret it. The songs I write about women loving women now are about characters I make up for the purpose of storytelling so they’re about women closer to my age, it’s about big girl love, not adolescent love.”
Common themes in Franny Sor Robinson songwriting: geography, vivid imagery like she’s showing you a picture of what she’s singing about, Buddhist themes, Christrianity (she’s a Buddhist but grew up in the Bible Belt so she’s very familiar with Christian themes), alliteration
Franny came under a degree of controversy in 2014 with the release of a song called “The Sabbath” because it was a tasteful song about how much she likes sex with her husband after they’ve been apart for a while, and Franny was like “you know you’d think the pearl-clutchin’ folks would be glad I practically worship my husband, but I forgot women ain’t supposed to actually enjoy sex.”
She's written another really sweet song about making love with her husband that did Not get hate because it was Acceptable TM and pretty romantic actually. Think along the lines of Josh Turner's Your Man or Dierks Bentley's Come A Little Closer. Songs deff about how they wanna get down but sweet.
After Franny retweet a clip of that Tyler Childers song in 2019 with the caption “big relate”, she was asked in a tweet if a follow up to The Sabbath was in the cards. Franny replied with “there’s a demo recorded for a song I wrote about six years back and that’s that on that.” Yes, Franny Sor Robinson indeed has written a song about masturbation. She’s performed the song live a few times, however, it is still unreleased officially
Franny’s written songs with lyrics alluding to her family’s experiences under the Khmer Rouge and escaping and resettling around the world, she cleverly hides them among her albums so people accidentally digest some education
Cornelius is the well-documented muse for “every love song I’ve written that I don’t specify in the album notes or an interview is written about a character. My husband is the love of my life and had given me twenty years and counting of great material to write about.”,
Franny’s been on both ends of this story. In 2019, a song Franny wrote but didn’t record became a smash pop hit after she and her producer sent it around to other producers. They recorded Franny’s demo in mid-2017 and they and the bigger pop producer that worked on the song with them listened to over 20 demos of the song until they found the right person to sing it.
And in 2013, Franny got a huge boost to her fame when she was the featured vocalist on a pop song that became a global smash hit. Franny doesn’t typically do like...super top 40 pop type music, but she liked the song so when her agent suggested she record a demo for it and send it back to the producer looking, she was like “sure, okay” and then was absolutely surprised that they chose her over some of the names she knew also recorded demos for the song.
Misc. Music facts
In 2019, a group of NYU students (where she did her undergrad) made a Franny Sor Robinson tribute album project; the majority of the students were Asian students in the university’s music programs who cite her as a big inspiration for them pursuing music. She 100% cried
For the Netflix show Just Trust Me that she co executive-produces, Franny is also one of the people who soundtrack the show
In 2020, to celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of her biggest solo album’s release, she pulled a The Story And Cover Stories (we stan Brandi Carlile) where it was re-released along with cover versions of each song by other artists including some of Franny’s biggest living musical influences. All proceeds for the album were donated to Cambodian Living Arts.
Franny has openly admitted in interviews to using mushrooms, LSD, and DMT before in songwriting sessions. Her stance is Kacey Musgraves’ stance. Franny quote from 2019, “Used responsibly, I think psychedelics are a worthwhile experience to have. But safety and education are key. I truly don’t believe they are party drugs. Psychedelics aren’t a party, they’re a deeply spiritual and philosophical journey.”

Hi! I just saw the recent anons youve gotten about the gray area of drawing crowley as a POC and ive had my own issues with it for other artists but at least for me its only really a Problem if they Only draw the demon as a POC and not any of the “good” or angelic chs. I understand where the anons r coming from and i totally agree with the recent anon saying not depicting complex moral chs as poc is robbing us of being multi faceted humans! That was a great point ! (1/2)
But i just wanted to personally message u to say that as an asian american, I completely fell in love with your crowley and azi !! I love them with my whole soul and seeing a ch like crowley, who i see alot of myself in, it was moving for me to see him as asian! Since asian people dont get alot of rep that isnt a stereotype or a trope, whenever an artist decides to depict a popular ch as asian i cant contain my happiness ! So please do wat makes u comfortable but know this asian loves ur crowley
Not going to lie, you almost made me cry, so thank you for your kind words.
I’ve been VERY critic towards people who draw Crowley being “vaguely” POC because for me it meant that they didn’t actually care, as long as he didn’t look white (not caring if his facial features were correct, just a white face with dark skin and you can call it a day). Or recently, those posts about the way people draw him with an exaggerated nose, and how antisemitic that is. So it would be very hypocritical of me to just ignore someone’s feeling about me drawing him asian.
To be honest, that anon seemed sketchy at best but I still want to think they were real, call me naive.
When I fancasted Daniel Dae Kim as my Crowley and Chiwetel Ejiofor for Aziraphale I did it for two reasons: I wanted them to be POC because, even if I’m white, I can see that the lack of representation is disturbing, and the second one was because they matched the descriptions of the book almost perfectly to me. Chiwetel is a fancy English man that kind of looks chubby but is also pretty strong (just like my hc for Zira, you know, chubuf) and with the right clothes look like a librarian. And Daniel… he’s suuuuper handsome and elegant? good cheekbones, perfect hair but when he smiles he looks like an angel… And have you seen him wearing a suit? James Bond material. Perfect match for my Crowley.
I learned a lot while drawing them, I tried to be very respectful and not treat them like caricatures. For example, I used to draw Finn (you know, from Star Wars) blushing until Iearned that you can’t see the flush if the skin is dark, or that eyelashes point downwards on asian people’s eyes, or that the skin of the palms and feet and lips of black people has a different colour, or how the facial structure changes… idk, lots of things. I tried to learn and to listen to people. I don’t just draw them as steriotypes, I draw them using my fancast for them, being very careful that they look like the actors and not just… just like a fucking joke, if you know what I mean.
But eih, I’m white and I’m sure I do lots of racist shit that I don’t even notice and I also know it’s not others people job to teach me how to things, but I love when people point things out to me because it means they are giving me an oportunity to change and improve. Again, I know is not your job, but I appreciate the help instead of receiving anon hate before I have the opportunity to know what I did wrong. By all means, if after all of this I still ignored their concerns of course you are more than welcome to insult and attack me.
So yeah, this whole thing is very upseting to me because I honestly don’t know what to do, I tried to do my best and I still offended someone. I don’t want to draw him white because we have enough of that and I can’t draw him being POC because I feel like no matter what I do is going to be wrong. And I’m also trying to make this about me and that’s even more racist so I think I’m going to stop now… And my anxiety and the heat are killing me oops
Thank you for your kind words, have a nice day, dear.

DA 20+ Questions
Tagged by @antivan-surana thanks! Tagging @situationnormal @the-dread-doggo @acepavus @aroundofgwent @lakambaeni @kxnways @fuckbioware (no pressure ofc) and anyone who wants to?
The rest is under a read more because it’s long
01) Favourite game of the series?
Origins, only because you got less and less op as a mage as the games went on. I love all the games tbh.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
My friend got my sister into it. They kept talking and talking about it so finally I was like “ok lets see what the big deal is” and here I am now
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
I’ve done Origins twice fully, DA2 four times fully (omg I didn’t realize this until now lol) and DA:I just once fully. I have one unfinished playthrough of Origins with a Cousland, and I’m in the middle of maybe two of DA:I. I think I’ve gone back and replayed certain parts of both Origins and DA:I plenty of times.
04) Favourite race to play as?
Elf I guess? Though I’ve only fully played as a human and elf. I’m in the middle of a dwarf playthrough and I’m thinking of doing a qunari one in the future. It might change idk.
I just really liked playing as an elf in Origins so that’s why I got into elves. But the funny thing is, I wasn’t even thinking of playing as an elf when I played for the first time. I wanted to play as a human. I just did it on a whim.
05) Favourite class?
Mage, hands down. Realistically, they’re the most versatile class. They can do range and melee since anyone can learn how to fight with weapons. But the last two games won’t let you so :)
Also, this stems from the fact that I’ve been a harry potter fan since I could remember.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
In my full, proper playthroughs that I’ve finished, it’s slightly different but still the same basic ideas. Sided with mages, agreed with Anders, etc.
But I am planning to try an evil playthrough in the future so
07) Go-to adventuring group?
DA:O (I have two)
Leliana, Wynne, Shale - the OG crew; they were my main crew in my first playthrough and it was a pretty even party
Zevran, Leliana, Alistair - the elf crew; esp. with Rhian they’re all elves because I saw a theory that Leliana is half elf and I’m down
DA2
It’s a mixed bag. If I’m not playing as a mage, I usually take Anders a lot because we need a healer and Merrill can’t heal. I tend not to take Sebastian as much after I max his friendship. After Sebastian, I take Aveline the least. Other than that I just mix it up. Unless I’m romancing someone, then I take them every time.
I’d love to take Anders, Fenris, and Merrill out more often but I hate how mean they all are to each other (looking @ u bioware 👀)
DA:I
My first playthrough, I mixed it up a lot in the beginning but then I ended up bringing Solas, Cole, and Blackwall a lot near the end for some reason?
I love taking Vivienne, Dorian, and Solas out, especially if I’m playing a mage, because it’s such a pretty fireworks show
In general though, if I’m romancing someone I take them with me almost always.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
I think it’s a tie between Rhian and Lu.
09) Favourite romance?
To no one’s surprise, it’s Zevran :3
Solas is second because I just really like that angst.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books?
I’ve read The Silent Grove, Those Who Speak, and Until We Speak (because someone gifted me the Omnibus) and The Calling.
I also have Hard in Hightown, which I should probably read lol, and the art book of inquisition.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
The Calling solely because of my mom Fiona and my dad Duncan.
12) Favourite DLCs?
Awakening because I love everyone and its also really funny that Rhian, who is 19 at that point, had to basically babysit people older than her and also run a whole arling.
I love both Legacy and Mark of the Assassin. Mark of the Assassin was really funny (though I hated the stealth part). I love Legacy specifically because when I was fighting Corypheus, both Varric and Anders K.O.’d and it was just me and Carver. It was a special family moment bringing down a whole entire magister together. I also hc that that was canon and it brought Kaia and Carver closer together.
13) Things that annoy you.
I’m gonna talk about the game bc if this is about the fandom, then that’s a whole other thing.
Anders’ writing for one. It doesn’t make sense that he’d approve of giving Fenris back to Danarius. And also that he wouldn’t tell f!Hawke that he’s bi? Then there’s the fact that Anders, Fenris, and Merrill all don’t get along when they have a lot in common.
Anything that was written by Lukas Krisdkjsdhkdk. Aveline, Sera, etc. he did a really bad job.
Also didn’t like that mages got less OP in the last two games.
There’s also the tone-deafness? Dorian, a brown man, saying slavery is ok. And also there’s the dialogue between Solas and Vivienne where Solas supposedly “owns” Vivienne. I think he says something like “may you learn”? Solas, a white person, saying this to Vivienne, a black woman, when there’s obvious colorism in Thedas? I think not.
There’s probably other but I can’t think of them right now.
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Orlais is too snooty and Ferelden doesn’t season their food. I pick Seheron and Laysh because that’s where the Asians are at.
15) Templars or mages?
Mages
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
Originally, my canonverse was Rhian, Kaia, and Luwalhati. Alden and Bolin were part of an AU. Then Alden finagled his way in there, then I decided to have Bolin in there too. So now i have twin Hawkes and Bolin is part of the Inquisition (if he’s a companion or not, I haven’t thought about)
I have plenty of other OCs that I’m planning on, but they’re currently sorted into a different universe.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
Pikamon for the Origins mabari. It’s a mix between the names of my two dogs, Pikachu and Cinnamon
Cinnachu for the DA2 mabari, also a mix of Pikachu and Cinnamon.
Lu’s mount is the royal sixteen (hart), which is given to you by Clan Lavellan if you manage to keep them alive iirc, and its name is Luntian, the tagalog word for green which is her favorite color. (In a teen!Lu AU, her mount is the bog unicorn bc she’s an edgelord)
18) Have you installed any mods?
It would be more surprising if I didn’t. How else would I manage to have my characters look like the’re poc?? And also get rid of whitewashing and have some continuity. I usually just do cosmetic mods if it’s my first playthrough. Then I do like “cheats” after I finish the game fully.
Fun fact, I once spent like 2+ hrs modding Origins to have the Zev romance the way I want. I also stayed up until like 5am trying to make Solas look like his concept art lol (it didn’t really work)
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
Rhian didn’t not want to become a warden. She read about them and thought they were an honorable order, but she didn’t expect to ever have a chance to become one. Her goal was to just go up in the Circle hierarchy, maybe even become First Enchanter. Then when the time came, she didn’t really have much of a choice.
20) Hawke’s personality?
Kaia is blue and Alden is purple
21) Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?
At first, I didn’t get what the big deal was with crafting. It didn’t seem fun at all lol. Then I tried it and was hooked. I don’t have them matching, but I do tend to try to match my Inquisitor with their LI in some way.
My usual procedure for armor in Inquisition is like this. I make everyone wear heavy armor and pick the materials that have the highest attributes, not caring how ridiculous the colors are. Then I go to tint them using a guide for each companion’s color scheme. This is the same for helmet but I usually have them turned off or have no one wearing one.
The only exception is Varric, Cole, and Blackwall. I have Varric wear the rogue armor that looks like his DA2 outfit, and Cole and Blackwall wear the Grey Warden heavy armor. I tint the grey warden armor using a guide for its color scheme.
I have Bull, Vivienne, and Cole wear their unique helmets.
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Rhian - She’d probably want to re-do how she told Zevran that she wasn’t exactly dead.
Kaia - Taken Quentin’s threat more seriously and killed him before he got to Leandra
Alden - He has no regrets
Luwalhati - wouldn’t have taken Sam and Wis with her so they wouldn’t have had to have died in the conclave explosion
Bolin - None, all of his decisions led him to Dorian and he’s happy with that.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
They’re all at least part Seheron?
I also hc that neither Carver nor Bethany die because Kaia was able to cast a barrier on both of them before the ogre got them. Then they both became Grey Wardens because Carver contracted the taint in the expedition and wouldn’t join the Wardens unless Bethany came with him too.
Another hc I have is that Sebastian didn’t leave when Anders was spared and stayed to help out. But he went his separate way after because he still didn’t approve of sparing him.
Oh shoot, I almost forgot. The most against canon thing I’ve done probably? Rhian didn’t do the Ritual but she did slay the archdemon without dying. Rhian’s an arcane warrior, so when she slayed it, she was partway in the fade. Being partway into the fade was enough for her essence, I guess, to survive it. But she’s not mortal anymore and kind of a spirit now? So she periodically has to chill in the fade because being in the real world takes a toll on her.
25) Who did you leave in the Fade?
In the game, it was Stroud. I killed Loghain and no way is Alistair gonna be trapped in there. Fiona will be sad. So I made Alistair king in the game only, so Stroud was the one that was left.
This is another off canon thing I did. In my actual canon, Alistair is the warden contact. The Hawke that comes to the Inquisition is both Kaia and Alden. Alden brings Fenris with him because he doesn’t go anywhere without his Boo-Boo. Bethany and Carver also come because Weisshaupt was being weird and it seemed like they would be safer in the Inquisition. Lu + her party, Alistair, Kaia, Alden, Fenris, Bethany, and Carver all come to Adamant. Because there’s so many people, everyone was able to escape the Fade. No one is left behind.
26) Favourite mount? The nugs! All of them :)
Though I don’t really use the mounts lol
