reply roundup!
I guess vaguely once a month is just how these things work now, I do try to read everyone's tags and replies and stuff but a lot of them I just don't really have anything to reply with sorry! as always I appreciate the supportive words and well wishes and stuff <3
I also love the trifurcation of responses to [go to bed]: one group of people is like "yeah u right I sleep now thanks", one is like "sorry but I can't", and one is just like "no! I refuse!!!" lol
I did get two different "posts that have 10k to me" tags though, on [one] that actually passed 10k and [another] that is still barely triple digits and will probably stay there XD
anyway [chess kirb] was on the radar which is neat
also my birthday is this weekend :)
oh yeah and reminder that I also have a craft blog @sleepy-princess-craftery
on [the last roundup] @sacrasm said: oh the clonk'd is just my queued post tag! thr other one is self explanatory he is little he is pink and i affectionately call things freak sometimes (in combination with other words)
ohhhh that makes sense lol it was the clonk'd that I was baffled by thank you for explaining -u-
on [drowsy] @ceylonsilvergirl said: being laid up sick or injured is terrible, but I think we also need to acknowledge that it’s also boring as hell. can’t do anything fun. boring boring boring
it is!!! it's so boring!!! especially since I'm already baseline sick all the time so I have less options to start with, so to do even less than that is literally nothing!
anonymous asked: Gwah being sick sucks. I wish immune system upon you!
thank you! (I think I actually need less immune system? on account of the immune disorder. but either way I do not have an active infection anymore 👍)
on [tumble] @chefwhatnot said: get chucked idiot
where's that post like "'get (blank)ed idiot' is the funniest joke" cuz they're right
on [mask] @macro-microcosm said: glad you're feeling better! i agree that we should all still be masking up, it bothers me soooo much to see that so many people have stopped
like honestly, scientifically speaking it is way more effective and more accessible than just leaning on vaccines, and it protects people from all kinds of stuff not just covid! but nobody wants to wear masks and even people who think they're being cautious just want to lean on vaccine requirements, which is doubly inaccessible for me personally and probably millions of other people :( stresses me out too.
anonymous asked: Magicking you up some new containers
thanks! they didn't have what I wanted at target but we got some usable stuff from daiso, so at least it's not all still shoved in a ziploc bag.
@thewizardgnome asked: But what if I say bye
I mean yeah you can do that too if you want I guess lol
on [paper] @breathelifeintothatsoul said: Cool! I've always wanted to try and make my own (recycled) paper one time
it's fun! there's a lot of extra steps you can add in if you want to, but the absolute basics of it is just dump a bunch of paper strips into a bin, fill it with water, wait until it breaks up enough for your liking, then dunk some kind of stiff screen into it (horizontally) so you can pull out even layers of pulp to dry somewhere.
on [paper] @hermitfox said: oooo making your own paper is do much fun, I have fond memories from kindergarten doing that. ... actually what stops me from doing that as an adult. I should make paper again
do recommend, making things is fun and also good for you :) also the paper pulp is very Texture (affectionate) (to me) (I'm sure to others it can be very Texture (derogatory) but I like it)
on [yarn] @ceylonsilvergirl said: I am very envy of people who can follow a pattern, I can’t do that. I can do a friend being like “Oh this next one is two one two one’’, i can’t translate abbreviations into an idea in my mind. give me a diagram instead
I'm the opposite tbh, I find the abbreviations really easy to follow but looking at a diagram for knitting and crochet just turns into like, visual noise if it's more complex than like, a single fan stitch or whatever.
@my-life-is-a-bad-sitcom asked: You’re Kirby’s are so cool and I love your art style. Honestly awesome. Giving you a standing ovation. 👍
thank you! I love to draw a little guy
anonymous asked: I saw you on tumblr radar just now!! congrats!! -@secondbeatsongs
woah thanks sbs!
@darkchaogarden-blog asked: Tumblr's doing that dumb thing it's been doing lately where I can't reblog anything, so I'll just write to you personally that your art is excellent! Have a good day!
that sounds like such an irritating bug but thank you! I hope you had a good day too whenever this was :)
on [chess] @shiinteractsif said: dudes at the search thingy image. congrats
oh cool I wondered where the radar posts showed up on mobile!
on [chair] @mads-is-tired said: i’ve never played a kirby game but i desperately want to BECAUSE LOOK AT HIM
honestly so valid, he's basically a character brand to me (like hello kitty or rilakkuma). I'm probably biased, but I feel like the best games to start with are either forgotten land (the one that came out on switch last year) or crystal shards (originally for the n64, also available through the nintendo online vc). I think they're the most visually appealing (aside from epic yarn which is not a mainline game) and while they reward exploration they're not as complex as some of the handheld titles to fully explore, nor are they as hand-holdy as some of the other console titles. a good middle ground of feeling like you did the thing, without being frustrating.
on [soup] @give-soup-please said: ME #soupblogging #fucking same
how delightful that this post managed to find you :) these tags make me happy whenever I think of them
on [soup] @lord-chiopet said: me too bud. you too op hope the weather approved
good news, the weather has improved :) now it is overcast and drizzly, my favorite!
on [chess] @wealmostaneckbeard said: Neither of them know how to play so they made up some rules...
what a cute idea! I hope they are having fun with their new game.
on [baseball] @hutbug said: the teal color is called northwest green and we still wear it all the time!! its beautiful u did an amazing job
thank you for the info! before this season I hadn't really had access to baseball for the past like 8 years or something and a lot has changed lol so I didn't really trust my memory
on [blue] @ceylonsilvergirl [added] "I CAN TRY AGAIN TOMORROW! Or next week! or next month..."
that really is the vibe lately huh.
anonymous asked: Your kirbys bring me daily serotonin
aww good!

15 people, 15 questions
I got tagged by @nieves-de-sugui thank you, I loved learning about you, you're so cool and interesting <3
1. Are you named after anyone?
Technically, far as I know my mom heard someone shouting the name on the street and went "wow I really like that name and here we are" which I'm very thankful for since her cousin, and best friend at the time, wanted her to name me Princess Crystal
2. When was the last time you cried?
Yesterday, while watching Last Twilight
3. Do you have kids?
No, and I don't plan on having any. Even so, I absolutely adore kids, I do have a goddaughter and she is the light of my life.
4. What sports do you play/have you played?
I used to practice Lima Lama which I still love but adult life has made it so that I no longer have time to do it, I also really like running.
5. Do you use sarcasm?
Yes, more often than I probably should but at least less than I used to.
6. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
I'm not sure, in person their height guess
7. What’s your eye color?
Brown
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
I honestly love both, I really enjoy a good scary movie, but I live for cheesy stories with happy endings, they're both part of a balanced diet imo
9. Any talents?
Not really, I'm bad at a lot of things but I enjoy doing them anyway
10. Where were you born?
México
11. What are your hobbies
Uhh, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, writing, baking, I try a lot of things but tend to lose interest rather quickly, which goes back to the I do a lot of things but never long enough to become good at them XD
12. Do you have any pets?
Yes two little dogs named Bebé and Capulín, they are my children and I love them so much.
13. How tall are you?
1.79
14. Favorite subject in school?
I didn't really have one but if I have to choose, probably literature
15. Dream job?
At this point one with benefits, but if I could actually live off of it translating queer literature would make me very happy
I don't know 15 people but tagging @non-binarypal7 @benkaaoi @ragingbyesexual @gaym3bo1 @springkitten @veertjed @dropthedemiurge @sunshinesanctuary just for fun <3

A Very 2023 Tag Game
(ahh i forgot this in drafts.) thanks for the tag, Lala! @lalazeewrites
hello, my name is: Cheshire, Caine, variations thereof.
i live in: currently japan. xD a nickel for every time i moved country and didn’t mention it anywhere: 2.
in 2023 i’ll be turning: mid-twenties. Damn, why is this tag so much more 'what’s your social security #' than i’m used to
describe your 2022 in 3 words: promising, challenging, painful
3 words you hope will describe your 2023: healthy, joyful, creative
something you’re looking forward to this year: getting better at my job, writing more stuff, sunny days (i miss youuu), travelling hopefully, seeing my family again, making + speaking to friends. Umm, games maybe? Maybe I should see if I can get a console.
something you want to accomplish this year: Hmm. I'd like to write a lot more. More consistently--not writing tends to signal mental unwellness, and writing makes me mentally better so, worth a try. And journalling more. EDIT: OH AND GET BETTER AT JAPANESE. STUDY IT CONSISTENTLY OR SOMETHING.
somewhere you’d like to travel to this year: hmmmm. more japan, maybe more asia
something you’d like to do more of in 2023: reading, writing, arith. Ok no, the first two yes, and travelling? Trying new hobbies. Oh, Exercise is a big aim. Haven't in a long time, and I miss it. More crafts? Knit again, Actually try crochet. Just I dunno, try some more stores: shows/films. And just, idk appreciate people in my life more. Let go of some resentment too.
and finally, what’s your 2023 mantra? my best is different each day
Not my most concise answering but who cares. v optional tag for any of these kind people + as much of it as they feel like filling out @rainingskyguy @starriewolf @hoarder-of-tea @cywscross @hadrian-pendragons @eclipsemidnight @absolem0

I should really draw my Sonas.
Subtle Shenanigans: Me, but funnier.
XD nah it’s just my writer pseudonym, so it’s me. Or how I perceive myself, I guess.
Sabotage: Me, but sorta darker tone with more vibrant colors if that makes sense. Also, she’s mean. Sorta more mischievous I guess - she wants to sabotage stuff for me, as a writer, or do what she wants, but she can only exist when I’m asleep. It’s complicated. Glasses optional.
The Dreamer: The one who dreams, the storyteller, she that sees potential paths and where they shall take. She does not control the story, but guides it. Covered in this big cloak/sheet/blanket thing. Crochets cause I can’t knit.
The Wanderer/Ander: They’re simply a traveler in a world like ours but full of creatures. H’mins (humans) can have things like paw pads on the bottom of their feet, sharp teeth, thick claw nails, and occasionally tails (although they’re only skin, not furred. Ander does not have one.) They have the paw pads and faintly the claws/teeth. Soft brown/tan leather coat, red undershirt that’s thicker, pants, darker brown boots. Sorta rag-tag looking. Ander is pronounced “Awnder.”

rules: answer 17 questions & tag 17 people you want to know better (I have not the brain to tag people and anyway since tumblrpocalypse the people I would usually tag are mostly gone, but if you want to do the thing, consider yourself tagged!)
nickname: I think of myself as JT more than by any other monicker. I'm still mad about losing that branding.
zodiac sign: Scorpio. Opinions vary on whether I am "the least Scorpio Scorpio ever" or whether I fit the category fairly well. Sexually confident and manipulative I am not. (Confident in general, still dubious. In touch with my dark side, okay, I will give you.)
height: 5'6", give or take
hogwarts house: Every quiz gives me a different answer, and I've never really clicked emotionally with any particular house. One of my supervisors at work decided I was a Ravenclaw, which I can definitely see. I poked at the @sortinghatchats system a while back, which puts you in *two* houses according to a system of their own, but I was doing me and Wes at the same time and all I really remember is that we were similar but different. I think one of us was... no, I can't remember, and I don't have time to rebuild the analysis at 3am on a work night. I *think* I was a Burned Ravenclaw Primary with Hufflepuff Secondary, or maybe the other way round, and I *think* Wes might have been a Burned Gryffindor or maybe a Burned Hufflepuff Primary? I remember we were both Burned (this is fundamentally the part of Wes I first glommed onto) and I'm pretty sure he was Ravenclaw Secondary but I wouldn't swear to it.
last thing i googled: "smallest count aida" apparently. I'm looking at poster-sized cross stitch patterns, and by poster-sized I mean we're talking 52x72" if I do it on 14ct so more of a tapestry really, and I don't have room for a tapestry in this apartment. I also don't actually have fifteen years to dedicate to making a cross stitch tapestry, but I was looking at potential smaller counts of aida cloth because I am dubious about the whole evenweave thing and specifically "you have to start on *this* side of a thread so the stitch doesn't roll underneath and stop being a stitch" thing. Apparently I could hypothetically get 22 count aida. Which would make it only a 46x33" tapestry, which is practically down to poster size if you think about it. Assuming I could *see* to work on 22 count aida; I really do need to schedule a fucking ophthalmologist appointment already, the whole diabetes-affects-your-eyes thing is being a thing.
song stuck in my head: I don't often get songs stuck in my head. I am not particularly auditory as a rule. Right now there is no song stuck in my head, only the twin whirs of the ceiling fan and the fridge.
following: 64 tumblrs, apparently. Most of these are more or less defunct, so I keep adding currently-active ones that catch my eye. Lot of cross stitch lately.
followers: 85. I used to have over 300 but there was the blog switch and then tumblrpocalypse and yeah. :P They're all apparently people, though. I keep on top of the pornbots pretty well. (Not like that. ;P)
amount of sleep i get: Not fucking enough. I need 9-10 hours a night and I get 5-7. You may notice that I'm up at 3am doing a meme. I suspect the depression, but I honestly haven't identified any underlying cause in a way that would allow me to fix the issue.
lucky numbers: I don't really have any that are "mine". My relationship to numbers isn't like that. I tend to think of 3 and 7, as being the classic medieval Christian lucky numbers.
dream job: That one tumblr post where you black out for forty hours a week and the paycheck shows up. I have absolutely no idea what I want to do that I am also able to do. My "passion" is geology, but that ship has sailed; I'm not physically capable of making a career in geology now, if I ever would have been. Or proofreading, but that hasn't been a livable wage for decades. Or spinster, like the kind that spins thread all day, but that went out with the Industrial Revolution. You see my dilemma? ;P
wearing: My skin. It's 3am, what do you want, fuzzy bunny pajamas? They don't make those for a 56" ass.
favorite songs: The Mary Ellen Carter. Most things from Pete Seeger. A selection of Raffi, The Monkees, and Johnny Cash. Probably some others I'm not thinking of right now.
instruments: I can play piano right-handed well or both-handed badly, recorder fairly well, guitar badly, and can make noises come out of a syrinx, which takes a certain level of skill. I also sing, loudly and sometimes very well.
random facts: Aphorisnt did a combination of random facts about themself and about the world. I, being sleepy, will provide you with only one, that I have been knitting for twenty years pretty continuously and that kind of scares me. (Huh. Maybe in another twenty years I'll be staring in awe and dismay at a similar mastery of cross stitch and finally take up quilting or naalbinding or something. Weaving, crochet, macrame, who knows.)
aesthetics: My phone was trying to autocorrect this to "Wes" until I got a ways into typing the word, and really that's pretty accurate. I have a sense of Westhetics. XD (My clothing is very utilitarian, jeans and solid-color t-shirts mostly, but you should see my apartment. If I ever catch up on the laundry again I'll post some more pictures, I'm pretty proud, even though right now I'm also in an obnoxious state of "NOTHING SPARKS JOY!" :P)

Five Favorite Things
Tagged by @nebulaahh
Books. Ever since I was little, I’ve loved books. Old books, new books, thin books, thick books, picture books, densely-written books, fiction, non-fiction. I love the heft of them in my hand and the smell of the paper. I love the thrill of anticipation when I open them for the very first time and the cozy warmth of re-opening an old favorite. I love paperbacks I can tuck in my back pocket, hardcovers I have to carry under my arm, and e-readers that mean I can pack a single backpack with enough clothes and supplies for a two-week vacation and still have plenty to read. I just...love books.
Writing. As much as it frustrates me sometimes, trying to figure out where the hell I was going with this scene or how to get from point A to point B, I love writing. I love the feeling of creating a world that wasn’t there before. Whether I’m writing on my computer, my typewriter, or by hand, it’s an amazing release and a great way to work out my feelings, especially if I’m not sure what they are.
Crafting. I love to crochet, to sew, to cross-stitch. I’m (slowly) learning to knit. I’ve always loved making things out of other things.
Music. Music has always been important to me. I sing, I play the flute, and I sort of play piano. I’m usually either listening to music or singing to myself, and sometimes I’ve been known to stand on the front porch or at the bus stop and just start singing. Music speaks when words cannot.
Baseball. It’s only been in the last couple of years that I’ve really realized how much I love baseball, but even when I was little, it was an important part of my life. I remember going over to my neighbor’s house on the rare occasions my parents went out at night and watching the Atlanta Braves games with her. I played two seasons of T-ball and four seasons of softball, and this is my second year as a season ticket holder for the Norfolk Tides, the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Saying “baseball” is one of my favorite things is kind of simplifying it, though, because it’s so much more than the game. It’s chatting with the third base gate guard and getting teased about “coming in late” when I’m not waiting in line fifteen minutes before the gates even open. It’s the “hey, darlin’” from the manager of my favorite concession stand and the fact that all the regular workers know I drink Dr Pepper with no ice. It’s all the ushers saying hi and addressing me by name and making sure my seat is wiped down before I even get there because they know I’ll be there eventually. It’s the other season ticket holders stopping by to say hello because they know I usually get there first. It’s talking with the clowns and all of us remembering details about one another. It’s knowing the weather forecast for the game by whether my favorite Flamingo Joe’s salesman is hawking lemonade, snow cones, or cotton candy and whether he looks annoyed because his sister made him sell one when he knows another is going to be the bigger seller. It’s knowing every single cheer they play over the loudspeaker and the little kids around me watching me with big eyes to see when I’m clapping so they know when they should clap too. It’s occasionally winning promotions and getting prizes. It’s rally caps when we’re three runs behind in the eighth inning and screaming myself hoarse when my favorite player hits a walk-off home run. I love absolutely everything about the “ballpark experience”.
Yeah, sorry, that last one got away from me. XD
