The Ray Fisher situation really was fascinating because it showed us how many nerds who see themselves as progressive were willing to excuse workplace abuse as long as it meant superhero movies were made in the ‘correct’ way.

So, let me get this straight.
Batgirl movie got shelved. Ray Fisher is still blacklisted from Warner Bros for speaking out about their racism, and there's little chance that a Cyborg movie will be made. Amber Heard's role in Aquaman 2 is allegedly downsized.
But, the white and cis male-passing actor who might have groomed a native american minor, and has a history of violent conduct in public, gets to be supported by James Gunn (who also supports Chris Pratt btw) and given a pass on their behavior??
I guess second chances and sympathy only exist for white cis men or white non-binary pple who are cis-male passing. Nice to see who James Gunn is interested in prioritizing.
P.S: TERFS FUCK OFF FROM THIS POST

i hope aquaman 2 bombs at the box office. this is from someone who genuinely loved the first one and i consider snyderverse!arthur to be one of my all time favorite characters.
but wb deserves to have all their movies under current leadership fail. the way this company continues to prioritize abusers over their cast members, crews, directors, and even fans! that company literally hates us but wants to use us to generate engagement online and see their shitty movies and buy their even shittier merch. but i can’t condone supporting any of dc’s future movies so long as they continue with this behavior. Ray Fisher was right

Omg! I love your writing! You write Conrad so perfectly. Can I please request one with Conrad Fisher where the reader and Conrad are best friends but everyone knows that they love each other because they’re always touchy and affectionate with each other. They even have cute nicknames for each other and everyone else just wants them to get together already. Your blog is amazing ❤️✨
orange bikini, the marina, and ray bands | c.fisher x reader
Tumblr media
a/n: thank you so much for the request love! i had a lot of fun writing it, i hope you enjoy <3
warnings: fluff
summers were always unforgettable. maybe because you got to spend every moment of it with your best friends. as a local in cousins, you watched different families come and go every summer — only a few of them being regular summer visitors. for example, the fisher and conklin families.
susannah fisher was such a bright light to the lives of the locals, bringing charity events to cousins every summer along with invested a lot of money into the country club. as for her sons, they were just like her. both conrad and jeremiah were bundles of sunshine, like a warm hug, or maybe a refreshing glass of lemonade on a hot summers day.
i had immediately bonded with conrad when i first met him when i was eight and he was ten. we met at the beach and instantly clicked. i soon was introduced to his younger brother, jeremiah, and two family friends, belly and steven. although i spent just as much time with the rest of them as i did with conrad, somehow him and i were always the closest.
despite the small age gap between us, we were like two peas in a pod.
i always looked forward to june since it indicated the start of summer, when my best friends return back to their summer home. i do have close friends here at cousins who are also locals, but the conklin and fisher siblings bring a new sort of fun to my life.
now that i’m sixteen, i stand at the marina dock, working alongside my friend cam. we both got internships with the marine biology department for the summer. i was laughing as cameron shook his brunette curls dry from water from the dive we just came back from. the droplets of water landing on me and my orange bikini.
“cameron!” i squeal, pushing him away, “i swear to god i’ll throw you off this deck if you continue to shower me”
he laughs as he steals my beach towel to dry himself, “you know you love it.”
i roll my eyes before they land on a very familiar red jeep wrangler that parks by the dock. i lift my ray bands off the bridge of my nose and place them on top of my head, i squint harder to see if it was who i thought it was. as the driver door opens, my favourite 6’2 dirty blonde boy steps out — conrad fisher.
he sees me staring at him while standing in just my bikini before a large smile paints across his face. i don’t even notice jeremiah stepping out from the passenger seat as i start running sprinting towards conrad.
he meets me halfway, where the dock began. “oh my god!” i exclaim as i jump into his muscular football player arms. my arms wrap around his neck and legs around his waist as i hug him tightly. he smells like sea salt, coconut sunscreen, and a hint of weed.
conrad has his arms holding my torso as he spins us in circles, “hey beautiful, did you miss me?”
“more than anything” i tell him, lifting my head from the crook of his neck, “you know, nine months is too long to be away from you”
“you say that every year, sunshine” he chuckles, carefully placing me back onto my birkenstock covered feet. his green eyes flicker from my sunkissed face to my chest for a split second.
i feel myself blush at it. he’s grown up a lot since i last saw him in august. his shoulders are broader, his biceps are larger, and his hair is longer. i smile sweetly at him, “because it never changes.”
“alright that’s enough from you two lovebirds. you look great in orange, y/n!” jeremiah compliments me as he pulls me into a squeeze hug, “how are you?”
i hug him tightly, “i’m doing great! cameron and i have been busy since school ended with this marine biology internship — but we get to be by the ocean all day so i’m not complaining!”
jeremiah grind his infamous smile, “sounds like fun! you know, steven and i are working at the country club this summer. time to make some bank!”
i giggle before pulling the brothers into a group hug, “ugh, i’m so happy you guys are finally back! when are belly and steven coming?”
“tomorrow afternoon,” conrad says as we all pull apart. i motion them to follow me down to the dock,
“i want you guys to meet one of my best friends,” i explain as cameron looks up at us and offers a smile, “this is cam, well, cameron. he just moved here last september and we’ve been hanging out since. you know, he’s just as interested in marine biology as i am!”
little did i know, cameron having his arm hanging around my neck ignited a small spark in conrad’s stomach at the sight. conrad gives a weak smile, meanwhile jeremiah daps cam up,
“what’s good, cam cameron! i’m jeremiah” he laughs, “you know, you’re making my brother conrad jealous right now. you have your hands on his future wife”
cam’s eyes go huge, “oh shit! are you two dating? y/n, you never told me you have a boyfriend! that’s my bad, bro.” he quickly apologizes and removes his arm from my shoulders.
“fuck off, jere” conrad says to his younger brother.
i smack jeremiah’s shoulder playfully, “i do not have a boyfriend, i don’t know why jere is making up bull”
“you mind as well be married at this point, considering the amount of hours you two spend texting each other.” jeremiah shrugs as he picks up my colourful printed backpack, “let’s head back to our place, cam you can come too”
cam thanks jeremiah but turns down the offer due to being needed back at his home. the two exchange instagrams so they can make plans later in the summer. with that, cameron runs off to his bike and waves us all goodbye.
conrad and my eyes meet and i can’t help but feel my heart rate pick up at the eye contact. i know i’ve always thought conrad was cute and was more drawn to him, but this felt a lot more different compared to the previous summers together.
i called shotgun as we all raced back to the wrangler, jeremiah pouting as he sits in the back seats. i plug my phone in for aux and start playing my new summer playlist that i just started making.
what once was by hers starts playing loudly from the car stereo as the windows are down and rooftop of the jeep was removed. the sweet summer breeze flowing through the car and our hairs as we all sing our hearts out. conrad has a hand on my knee, massaging it with his thumb while he drives. i try to surprise the butterflies and the heat rising to my cheeks at his actions.
as he parks the car at the familiar white summer home, we all jump out as conrad exclaims to race to the kitchen. he claims that whoever is last is getting thrown into the pool first.
the two fisher boys had an unfair advantage because of their longer legs, thus being able to take longer strides. we make it into the kitchen where susannah stands, smiling her golden smile,
“y/n! sweetheart, look at you!” she coos, pulling me into a warm embrace. she smells like roses and fresh laundry as i hold her tightly, she whispers into my ear, “so when are you and connie making it official? i know how you two feel about each other and he speaks of you so often at home.”
i flush at her comment but smile on response, “it’s so good to see you, susannah.”
she caresses my cheek, “i swear, you get more and more gorgeous every time i see you. plus, that orange bikini top looks absolutely fabulous on you.”
“i look just the same as last summer,” i laugh, “and the summers before that.”
she rolls her eyes playfully, “oh sweetie, don’t brush off my compliments. i mean it, you are glowing! don’t you think, connie?” she asks, looking over at her older son who already has a slight blush across his cheeks.
he smiles, “yeah, yeah you do.”
jeremiah grabs my wrist and pulls me away from his mom, “stop trying to avoid you fate, y/n! time to get thrown into the pool!” he grins, tugging me towards the sliding glass doors.
i squeal as the two both have grips on my arms as i try my best to free myself, “oh, come on! at least let me take off my shorts and ray bands!”
they surprisingly allow me to do so, before conrad grabs my wrists and jeremiah grabs my ankles.
“1…” they count together, starting to swing me back and forth by the edge of the pool.
“2…” i squeeze my eyes shut, preparing myself for the cold pool water.
“3!”
i scream as i’m thrown into the air before splashing into the chlorine water. i swim to the surface of the water with a cheeky idea in mind, i grab a hold of my left ankle and distort my facial feature in discomfort,
“shit!” i cry out, taking a breath from being under water for a moment too long.
conrad immediately straightens up at the sight, “baby, what happened? are you okay?” he panics.
“y/n, are you good?” jeremiah asks, the two having obvious concern laced in their facial expressions.
i shake my head and fake a sob, “i think i sprained my ankle at the bottom of the pool.”
in seconds, conrad removes his burgundy tee shirt in one swift movement before diving into the water. his strong arms lifting me and bringing my legs to wrap around his waist, “fuck, i’m so sorry, pretty girl.” he breathes out, planting two kisses on my forehead, “let me see it.”
he swims us over to the edge of the pool where jeremiah once stood before he left to grab towels and an ice pack. conrad lifts me up effortlessly onto the pool side, beginning to inspect my left ankle,
“wait,” he pauses, noticing no swelling nor bruising.
i couldn’t hold in for much longer before i broke into laughter, “i’m sorry! you should’ve seen the look on your pretty face!”
his worry drops before splashing me with water, “you’re so lucky that i love you.”
i stop laughing and wipe my face dry from water before looking at him, “w- what?”
conrad’s eyes widen at the accidentally confession, “i mean… as a friend of course!”
my heart feels a slight tug at the correction but i smile weakly. why would he love me in the way that i feel towards him? i awkwardly laugh before kicking water back at him, and jumping back into the pool.
“ok good, i got worried for a second” i lie, swimming towards him. his hands subconsciously hold onto the curves of my hips, his green eyes looking deep into mine.
i known him for what feels like forever and i can read him like an open book, well typically. but right now, his expression is unreadable. i’m distracted by him, his hands on me, the explosion of butterflies in my gut, and my heart beating loudly in my ears.
his hand cups my cheek, both of our eyes fluttering close as he pulls me closer to his face. i can feel the slight minty feeling of his breath on my lips before,
“i got the ice!” jeremiah yells, with a loud slam of the glass door which caused conrad and i to jump away from each other.
we almost kissed.
i cant even look at my best friend right now, embarrassed with the bright pink colour of my cheeks as i swim over to jeremiah, “thanks” i say quietly, pretending to ice my ankle.
i watch conrad get out of the pool and dismiss himself to his room,
“did something happen?” jeremiah asks, completely lost and confused of the situation.

Can You See Right Through Me?
Conrad Fisher x fem!reader
Summery: You, Belly and Stevens older sister, realize that as everyone grows older, you have become less and less important. Suddenly, everything you’ve never felt comes crashing at you.
Tumblr media
The past summer and every single one before that had led me to this moment now. Standing alone in an empty room in the dark while everyone else ventured off to a bonfire.
It was like a switch had went off in my brain, coming down here this summer. Everything I knew becoming wrong. Everything I was so sure of becoming the unknown.
I thought I knew everything, but I knew nothing. I was wrong about everything.
The way Jeremiah’s eyes carried a special sparkle as my sister and brother piled out of the car in front of me. His lips curled into that same pearly white smile and his eyes crinkling in the corners like always. His wrinkles a permanent tattoo of his life and his happiness that he carried with him.
I knew Belly was pretty. She always had been. I’d been the one to express that to her. Being her older sister, even by only a couple years, I could see it far before anyone else could. I could see how gorgeous my little sister was with her long brown hair and her contagious laughter. She would grow into herself, I promised her that and I couldn’t have been happier watching as she found that new confidence in her appearance the older she grew.
Still, the joy I felt for her could not overpower the sting that settled in my chest the moment I realized that Jeremiah’s warm welcome was not directed towards me like all the years before. His eyes drawn to Belly. The newer, prettier Conklin. The youngest, the most at ease with her surroundings. The one who took everything with a grain of salt.
And suddenly it made sense. If I was the stars in his eyes, then Belly was the sun. The bigger, brighter star. How could this boyish ray of sunshine fall for the more mellow sister when he had his perfect reflection right in front of him?
Realizing that was what caused the downward spiral, I think. That was the turning point and suddenly the switch went off.
I wasn’t ugly, I knew that. I once had a few boyfriends back home, all of which took great interest in me, but all of which never stuck. And it was obvious as to why. My head knew it would be good to try something new, but my heart was suffocating in the love I had felt for Jeremiah. I couldn’t love someone else if my heart belonged to another.
Only, Jeremiah’s heart belonged to Belly. It was obvious. The way they laughed. The way they talked. The way they touched. I wanted him to touch me like that. I wanted his arm slung around my shoulders and I wanted his hand resting on my thigh. I wanted him to whisper his secrets into my ears again. I wanted all of it, while Belly treated it like a chore.
Like she was bored by the constant affection and the strong attraction they had for one another. Yet, even with the heaviness in my heart, and the bitterness at the tip of my tongue, I wasn’t the one he was holding down on the beach. And that could never be me. I was the sister standing in my room back at the summer home, a bikini tied around my chest as a top, jean shorts hanging low on my hips while her fingers pulled at the skin on her stomach and pushed against her stomach to make it impossibly flatter.
A routine I’d developed since the beginning of summer. Sleeping in later, staying up longer. Skipping meals by accident and curling up as small as I could while everyone else ate dinner. It was almost as if I didn’t exist. And maybe I didn’t because it seemed like nobody cared.
That was my greatest fear. What started as a minor jealousy and a spiral of undiscovered insecurities morphed into a pool of fear. Not for how I looked, but for who I was. Now that everyone was growing up, now that Conrad and I were going off to college, would anyone still need me? Belly was confident now, she didn’t need my pep talks. My mom had her best friend and Jeremiah had Belly. Nobody needed me. Nobody cared.
Knock, knock.
Or I thought nobody cared.
“Hey, Conklin?” The voice was quiet, afraid to pierce the peacefulness of the silence.
My hands slipped away from my body, my posture straightening and my eyes making friends with the ground.
“Oh, hey. Aren’t you supposed to be at that bonfire with the others?” I didn’t make a point to turn around, staying stuck in place. “I didn’t want to be there.” He confessed.
“Oh.” His eyes caught mine in the mirror. Body leaning against the doorframe and hands playing with his tied hoodie strings.
“Besides, it’s boring without you there, you know? Don’t really enjoy being there without my beer pong partner.” We laughed, my eyes averting his quickly while it died down back to a comfortable silence.
Footsteps treaded across the furnished wood floors, socks padding carefully, closer.
“Hey.” The call was gentle and not in the slightest bit pushy or pressured.
I bit my lip, feeling suddenly naked with Conrad so close. My arms came to wrap around my torso like a blanket to shield my most vulnerable parts of myself.
“Hey, no. Come one y/n. Don’t do that. Don’t hide.” His hands found mine, covering them in his warmth, pulling away at each finger that dug into my skin slowly. Pulling off that divider I’d placed between us.
His head found my shoulder. His chin tucked comfortably on top of my shoulder blade, his arms hugging around my body, loosely, but enough to relay that he was there. He was close.
“What’s going on with you?” I felt his eyes looking at me, even from the floor. I shook my head.
“Nothing.” I lied through my teeth.
“I know you better than that, Y/n. You’re my best friend.” I nodded, feeling the tears piling on my waterline until everything was a watercolor version of itself.
“You avoid everyone but the moms and me. You don’t surf in the mornings anymore. You skip dinner to go be by yourself some more. You’re dropping weight scarcely quick. This isn’t like you. Something’s bugging you. Why can’t you just let me in?” My response wasn’t something I planned. His confession something I wasn’t prepared for. The low gravel of the mumbles. So quiet and normal that it was like he never even said it. But I knew he had because there he was, looking over my shoulder to watch me through the mirror. Admiring each part of what I had to offer like it was gold. How could I have been so blind to how much Conrad cared? How his touches lingered longer than before, how he cared for me like Jeremiah once did.
A sob wracked through my body, lips parting and chest heaving as I crumbled beneath his touch. My hands grasped onto his arms, clawing at him in panic. Trying to hold onto him. He let me hold onto him.
He lowered us slowly to the ground, his breath fanning off of my face and his body giving mine a home as I curled up impossibly close to him. Still it wasn’t enough. I needed to be closer, to not be alone. To not feel like the world was constantly out of reach.
It was beyond Jeremiah and Belly. It always had been. It had only been my wake up call to how quickly things were moving and how soon I would be unimportant. How soon I would be alone.
Conrad didn’t try to shush me, or talk to me. It was like a silent conversation, confirming all his suspicions. He always knew me better than myself. He always knew there was something wrong deep down. He always saw right through me.
I saw right through me.
It was hard to tell when the tears stopped and turned into dried out cries muffled into the collar of his shirt. Who knows how long ago I became dehydrated. But Conrad stayed put, sitting with me silently until my last cry came out in a soft sniffle.
Lifting my head, I looked to him, a mess. And I saw he was crying too. His eyes were just as wet as mine and his cheeks streaked with past tears. His lip didn’t quiver like mine, but Conrad was always better at holding it together.
So, he didn’t sob like me. No, instead of breaking down like I had when our eyes met, he pulled me in. And he didn’t let me go no matter how hard I squirmed. It was like he breathed me in. And suddenly, in the moment of silence, I heard a whisper against my hair. Only a short sentence, but one that meant everything. One that made me feel less alone as I realized Conrad felt the same way.
“Help me hold onto you.” He begged.
And suddenly, everything I was insecure of, everything that I had let slip, seemed unimportant compared to the boy on his knees for me.

Hey, I really liked the one you did with Hope and her sister wanted to know if you could do one where Hayley and Klaus are not dead and are with their two daughters. One day they are in the living room with Hope and y/n until Hope yells at her parents and they turn and are surprised when y/n stand up and start walking towards them
Quieting The Argument
Tumblr media
Baby female Mikaelson reader x Hope Mikaelson (plus Klaus + Hayley)
Warnings: nothin, just tooth rotting fluff
A/n: Hope you like it <3 this was fun and cute to write!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The four of you are sitting in the living room, Klaus and Hayley on the couch, while Hope and you are sitting on the floor on top of a blanket. You two have the Fisher Price stacking rings between you guys. The teenager drops the first one down the pole, making you giggle before grabbing the orange one and plopping it right on top of the red one she put on.
Your parents are squabbling about how Klaus had let Hope have a shot of brandy last night without her knowledge, just finding out about it when Klaus accidentally mentioned it, not noticing Hayley was in the other room.
Once all the rings are stacked up, you maneuver yourself so you're on your hands and knees. You crawl over to your big sister. She lifts you up under your armpits and kisses your forehead before settling you down in her lap, making you giggle.
Hope reaches to the side and grabs a wooden horse that your guys' dad recarved for her when she was a baby and now it's yours to play with. She wraps one of her arms around your back to make sure you don't fall backward, and holds the wooden horse with her other hand in front of you,
You giggle, reaching up for it. You guys start playing the 'up and down' game with the toy, where Hope has hold of the toy and move it up or down so you can't get it before she finally hands it to you.
Having the horse in your possession now, you start squirming to be let off her lap. Picking it up right away, Hope lifts you off your lap and places you down onto the soft blanket.
With one hand still clutched to the toy, your other one goes to Hope's knee before leaning your body against her. Slowly but surely, you get enough momentum to get yourself up all the way while still holding onto the horse and leaning on her leg for balance.
You turn, facing where your mama and dada are sitting on the couch four feet away. Wanting to get over to them, you slowly put one of your feet in front of the other and push off of Hope's leg.
Hope realizes straight away what you're doing and looks over to the adults as well.
"Dad, Mom, look!" She yells at them excitedly, effectively stopping their disagreement.
Turning around they both look like their about to say something before their gaze travels down to where you're almost right in front of Klaus, a couple more steps away.
They both pause, eyes widening in the realization of what's happening at the moment.
You quickly take the last steps before latching onto your dada's left leg, stabilizing yourself again.
He lifts you up onto his lap right away, "Good job my little love" Klaus kisses the top of your head.
"Dada!" You exclaim, lifting up your tiny hand with the wooden horse. "Yeah, dada" Klaus mumbles and kisses your forehead before taking the wooden horse and running it up and down your arms.
The tickling feeling from the horse makes you shiver and giggle, before getting the horse back from the original hybrid.
"How is it that you both decided to take your first steps when were in disagreements" Hayley realizes, pulling you into her arms and cuddling you. You squeal happily before nuzzling into your Mama's chest.
"Well this is one way to stop your guys from fighting, note to self" Hope smirks, making you burst into a fit of giggles. Your parents look from Hope to you in disbelief at how quick you were to basically 'agree' with the teen on the subject.
"Hey don't look at me, if uncle Kol was here, he would say the same thing" She raises her arms up in mock surrender with a lincoln log in her right hand that she picked up from the ground and twirled it with her fingers once you were in Klaus' arms and she didn't have to worry about you tripping onto the ground.
Yeehaw! First kiss prompts?! If it brings you joy, may I please request...
"Are you sure about this?"
...with...
I feel like it's suited to Tech... but would be happy to read it for anyone you're feelin! <3
As always, feel free to ignore! :D
Hi Free!!! Thank you so much for the request! 🤗💜
First Flutter (Tech x GN!Reader)
Summary: Tech's first kiss with you comes as a bit of a surprise, but not an unwelcome one.
Word count: 916
Warnings: Just a whole load of fluff!
-- -- -- -- --
Swinging your legs from the edge of the workbench, you almost tasted the salt in the breeze as you peered out of the opened rolling doors. On the horizon, the sea glittered, pinching at the afternoon sun and transforming the rays into watery silver glimmers. Waves soaked the shore and lapped at the pale grains and pebbles in a billow of foam. During this time of year, seaweed climbed high above the surface to make mischief for the coast fishers, snagging on their lines and pulling catches from hooks.
In the workshop, the floral air from outside hung heavy, masking the odour of soldered metal and scorched trimmings. Weathered yellow paint trailed the rim of the wall shelves and worktops, and hulking, square columns held wide drawers, some of the lower units drooping open until Tech nudged them closed with his hip as he rambled. The far surface was cluttered with an assortment of half-finished projects and the bin full of scraps waited to be emptied.
“Are you listening?” Tech said, standing to his entire height and tilting his head in your direction. With a slight annoyance, he pushed his slipping goggles back up his nose with a finger.
“Yes,” you replied. “I’d be a pretty poor assistant if I didn’t.”
“What was I saying?”
“You were explaining how the navigational system and early detection sensors will not only monitor sea depth but also keep track of aquatic life and allow trawlers to adapt quickly to sudden changes in weather.”
Tech let out a brief hum in approval and bent down to attach the final tiny motor to his project. “Can you pass me the-”
Before he got the words out, you handed him a hooked tool. A radiant grin brightened your features, and if it hadn’t been for the restless whir of the extractor fans above diverting your attention, you would have spotted the blush in his cheeks.
Embarrassed, he kept his gaze down as he completed the last alteration and hoisted the apparatus into the crate with the others. As he placed the machine into the makeshift holders, it rattled and jingled until the outer pipes clicked into the clips. “We can deliver these in the morning,” he said, returning to the workbench. “They should not take long to set up.”
“Between the two of us, they’ll be done in a couple of hours,” you agreed. “The fishers will appreciate them, especially after the last storm.”
“I only wish I had thought of it sooner.”
“You can’t blame yourself. From the moment you got to Pabu, you’ve been helping as many people as you can, but you’re only one person, Tech.”
“But I am not only one person now. I have you.”
The unexpected tender lilt in his voice made you pause, and you halted the aimless swing of your legs. You wished to let him know he could rely on you indefinitely, that you would be there as long as he wanted you to be, but all you managed was a nod.
“Perhaps we could make some modifications to the boats themselves,” Tech pondered. “They do seem rather old and while they are structurally sound, further protections would be beneficial.” As he speculated aloud, he absentmindedly reached for a tool behind your hip and jolted at the abrupt proximity. Nearly nose to nose, he faltered.
“Would you like me to get that for you?” you asked, the question emerging in a tentative sigh and your gaze locked on his startled expression. He didn’t budge, his eyes singing of the pent-up emotions you had both been tiptoeing around for months.
The warmth of your breath fluttered across his burning cheeks, your thigh briefly brushing his hip and the stray curl dangling from his hairline tickling your eyebrows. Electricity sparked where your body met his. “I… I, um…” He swallowed determinedly, willing the words from his mouth, but all he could concentrate on was the softness in your eyes and the curve of your slightly parted lips. He wondered what they’d feel like on his, how they’d move and how they’d react to the lightest pressure.
Need guiding him, he inched forwards and skimmed his fingertips over your cheek to cradle your face. His heart raced with anticipation as you leaned into his touch, daring to hope you craved that connection as much as he did.
“Are you sure about this?” you said, noticing his hesitation.
In answer, Tech bridged the gap, lips whispering of his affection for you with the first timid press. A tiny whimper escaped from the depths of his throat. When he’d contemplated kissing you in the past, he imagined a surge of fireworks in his core, consumed by an overwhelming passion. But what he experienced instead was so much better. His entire being was engulfed by a soothing calmness that was so wonderfully you it erased all his worries and relaxed his racing mind. He was right where he was supposed to be, and it lulled him into a sense of ease and purpose.
Haltingly, he parted from you, breathless. He wanted to tell you to take it. To steal his breath, plunder all that he owned, for it was all yours to begin with. It would always be yours. “You asked if I was sure,” he said, planting a kiss on the tip of your nose and admiring the bright smile that twinkled all the way to your eyes. “I’ve never been so sure about anything in my life.”
Is It Really That Bad?
Tumblr media
I don’t think I’ve ever felt like the universe actively conspired against something until I witnessed the production of The Flash.
Since 1991 there have been quite a few proposals for Flash movies, but they never really got off the ground for whatever reason. Following Barry’s debut in Justice League, a movie finally was announced before multiple delays due to rewrites, in particular to cut Ray Fisher’s Cyborg from the story after he went public about the awful shit he had to deal with under Joss Whedon. Things seemed hopeless until It director Andy Muschietti came onboard, at which point production on the film finally started to go smoothly. Sure, there were rumblings about Ezra Miller having episodes on set, but that’s just typical actor nonsense, right? Surely it couldn’t get any worse!
Tumblr media
Look, I’m here to review a movie so I’ll keep this brief: Miller committed crimes. Lots of crimes. So many, in fact, you’d think they were method acting for the role of Reverse-Flash. The thing is, despite all of this, Miller was basically given a slap on the wrist by the studio, being forbidden from doing promos and press tours (oh no! The horror!). And as if the situation wasn’t already a fucking mess, while Miller’s crime spree was ongoing WB canned the nearly-complete Batgirl movie that featured Michael Keaton and Academy Award-winning actor Brendan Fraser while simultaneously inflating The Flash’s budget to nearly $300 million with reshoots. It seems baffling to cancel a movie that was nearly done and that people were marginally interested in for the sake of a movie that people were losing interest in quickly due to its star’s erratic behavior, but remember: Leslie Grace isn’t white, while Ezra Miller is. WB is never beating those racism allegations at this rate.
With a normal movie, this is where the nonsense ends. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!
Tumblr media
This film was meant to smooth out the clusterfuck continuity of the “Snyderverse” with a soft reboot, with Henry Cavill filming a end-of-movie cameo alongside Miller, Gal Gadot, Keaton, and Supergirl’s actress Sasha Calle to establish the new direction of DC going forward. Unfortunately, the hierarchy of power at DC changed, and Gunn shot that down. While this meant the ending would probably not get people confused with regards to upcoming projects, it also meant the movie wasn’t going to really have any closure for the old universe. Affleck, Cavill, and who knows who else are just gone, and the future is just a big old question mark. At least Aquaman is safe, maybe?
Literally none of this news was very reassuring to fans. Nothing above is any good for a film’s perception to audiences under normal circumstances, but here we have all this news coming to a fanbase that genuinely did not want this fucking movie. The DCEU was already divisive when the film was announced, and Miller’s portrayal of Barry doubly so; the fact it was adapting Flashpoint was seen as lazy and uninspired, not to mention its not really a story that lets Flash stand on his own merits, making it seem more like this movie was just an excuse to reboot; it was a multiverse story in a day and age with an abundance of such stories, and it was releasing around the same time as Across the Spider-Verse to boot; and Gunn’s reboot plans meant this story was likely a narrative dead end. This movie had an uphill battle the likes of which haven’t been seen since Sisyphus.
But much like that mythological figure, the boulder came crashing right back down when the numbers came in. The movie would likely need to gross $500 million at minimum to break even after factoring in the reshoots and advertising, and it only managed half of that with a pitiful opening weekend followed by a massive 73% drop. It now sits alongside films like The Lone Ranger and Mortal Engines as one of the most expensive bombs in history, to the point where WB would have saved more money by cancelling it like they did with Batgirl. And despite glowing praise from the likes of Tom Cruise and Stephen King, it received middling reviews from mainstream critics.
Audiences haven’t been any less mixed, but considering most people weren’t particularly excited or invested in this film’s existence this is basically a miracle. Sure, there’s plenty of people out there saying this is the “worst comic book movie ever” like they do every time a new superhero movie drops, but even more people are saying they enjoyed the film… although even they tend to have some severe criticisms.
Even though I knew most of what was going to happen in the movie going in, I wasn’t really sure what to expect given everything surrounding the movie. But you know me, I’m willing to give almost any movie a chance, and bombs this big don’t happen every day, so even before it was voted on I was trying to make time to check it out. So sit down, microwave yourself a snack—
Tumblr media
—and watch as I try and determine if The Flash is really that bad.
THE GOOD
The biggest shock of this film is that Ezra Miller is actually really good here.
Tumblr media
Their Barry is still a bit of a goofball, but he’s clearly matured as a character since his precious appearances. They managed to make him much more charming and likable than he ever was, and this gets compounded when he interacts with the younger Barry and gets confronted with how annoying he was before. I think young Barry could have come off as really insufferable, but the fact he annoys everyone around him and also ends up maturing makes him a lot more endearing.
Miller really kills it with the emotional moments, particularly the ending encounter with Barry’s mom and the scene where old Barry snaps at young Barry. The film is really carried by the dramatic, emotional moments far more than any of the superheroics, and Miller manages to sell a lot of it very well. It was to the point where I started thinking, “I really wouldn’t mind if they stick around.” Then a scene where Barry says the Justice League has no real psychiatric help or where his younger self ends up repeatedly exposing himself in public by accident happens, and then I remembered, “Oh yeah, aren’t they a mentally unwell criminal?”
Unsurprisingly, Michael Keaton absolutely kills it in his role as Batman, but much more shockingly is that Ben Affleck's brief return as Bruce is pretty great as well. I always thought Affleck, much like Henry Cavill, was desperately trying to give a great performance while weighed down by bad writing; here, he gets an actual poignant scene where he talks to Barry about how dwelling on tragedies isn't the way to do things, and you should try and move forward instead. It shows he really could have been great if given better material to work with.
Tumblr media
Okay, enough being nice to Affleck, I wanna talk about Keaton again. As much as the marketing hyped him up and as much as he is obviously the most blatant fanservice possible, it's still so cool to see him in the suit again. I am not immune to nostalgia pandering, and as corny as it could have been from anyone else, the zoom into his face when he says The Line really is a highlight of the movie. Keaton has a great deal of charisma, and while there are issues with Batman they aren't his fault at all. Most impressively, he doesn't steal the show away from Miller like I thought he would; he enhances the scenes he's in without stealing the spotlight completely from their performance. I feel like this is a problem in a lot of movies like this, where the lead gets overshadowed by a hyped up character, but somehow The Flash of all things managed to avoid this.
Tumblr media
And as bad as the cameos could get, this movie gave two of the greatest cameos ever put to film with the return of the GOAT George Clooney Batman and, best of all, Nicolas Cage Superman from the unmade Superman Lives, fighting a giant spider to the death just as God intended. I am not immune to the charms of Nicolas Cage.
Tumblr media
Overall, this movie presents us with a solid story, plenty of fun moments, great character dynamics, and more... for the first two acts, anyway.
THE BAD
Once this movie hits the third act, it basically just loses any and all focus and becomes a big dumb video game-esque battle against Zod and his forces in a bland desert landscape. While both Barrys admittedly get some pretty cool moments sprinkled in and Keaton’s Batman’s second death is actually a well done emotional moment, Supergirl ends up being completely wasted, with her sole role being to angrily scream and then die repeatedly.
Tumblr media
This actually highlights the problem with Kara in this movie: She’s basically nothing but a plot device and has zero personality, and a good 80% of her dialogue is just angry screaming. As hot as Sasha Calle is and how much she obviously wants to make Kara compelling, she is given so little to work with that her efforts end up being fruitless. She does nothing of consequence after helping Barry get his powers back, and could be replaced or written out of the story and it would still make perfect sense.
Zod’s inclusion is pretty baffling as well, especially since they chose to water down one of the only good things from Man of Steel into a boring, generic doomsday villain. You can really feel that poor Michael Shannon would rather be doing anything else, and his bored performance just highlights how poorly implemented Zod is in the plot. Like, the Fladh has some of the best and most colorful DC villains in his rogues gallery, one’s that are often overlooked because Batman’s villains sell more toys. Why not highlight some of them instead of taking a Superman villain and stripping him of all personality to the point the actor clearly has no passion for the role? Cutting Zod would make cutting Supergirl even easier, and then two of the biggest problems with the movie are gone!
Tumblr media
The third act does manage to mostly rerail itself once it goes back to Barry trying to unfuck the timeline, with only a disgustingly egregious bit of fanservice that I’ll discuss in the next section hampering it. But at the end, despite the incredibly based George Clooney cameo, there’s just so many unresolved and unanswered questions, with the biggest one being who killed Barry’s mom? Considering her death is what kickstarted the whole plot, you’d think this might come up, but it never does. A lot of other things come up and get dropped too, like whatever was going on with Batman in the opening, but maybe I’m just crazy for wanting elements introduced in a plot to have significance beyond just being there to be cool.
Even beyond that, there’s the fact that Supergirl and Keaton!Batman’s final fates are never really resolved, something that apparently wasn’t a problem in early versions of the film since they showed up alive in the final scene. As much as I loved seeing Clooney, I think trading him for getting some closure for Keaton and Calle would have been more satisfying.
Everyone harps on how bad the CGI is—and it absolutely is, don’t get me wrong—but for the most part I found it endearingly bad. Like the opening with the CGI babies? That’s too goofy for me to hate. But once the movie revolves into bland grey and black CGI bad guys and creepy deepfake celebrity cameos, I stop being quite so forgiving.
Oh, and on the subject of cameos, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one as pointless and unfunny as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman showing up out of nowhere (complete with theme music) to make Bruce and Barry look like dumb assholes. Imagine thinking this was a good idea.
Tumblr media
THE UGLY
Tumblr media
The biggest point of contention surrounding this movie is the CGI necromancy used in the aforementioned cameo clusterfuck from the climax, which gives us George Reeve, Christopher Reeves, and Adam West posthumously reprising their DC roles in non-speaking appearances (there’s archived audio from West, but his cameo isn't really focused on to the point you can barely tell it's him) where they just stand there before the camera swoops around like in that Saul Goodman gif.
Tumblr media
I think this is one of the very few times where I actually think the outrage is mostly justified. To be clear, I’m not getting mad on behalf of dead celebrities I never knew, and as long as the filmmakers went through the proper channels and the estates of these stars were properly compensated, I don’t have any legal objections. All of my distaste is coming from a subjective, moral standpoint.
I have never liked this CGI necromancy ever since Rogue One popularized it. I find it really gross and distasteful, and in most cases I think finding a lookalike actor would be preferable than playing Weekend at Bernie’s with a computer generated facsimile of a dead person. In The Flash, I understand having lookalikes would diminish the wow factor of the crossover, but there was an extremely easy workaround to this: Have cameos from all the living DC stars.
Was Brandon Routh not available to put on the Superman tights? Would it have been so bad to let Grant Gustin pop in for a cameo? They acknowledge Helen Slater, so why not Melissa Benoist? Hell, if you want to reference bad, campy movies, have Shaq show up as Steel or Josh Brolin pop in as Jonah Hex! Or even Ryan Reynolds, I’d bet he’d be down to return if you gave him a real suit this time!
Tumblr media
Like there’s just no excuse for ghoulishly parading around dead guys when there’s so many alive guys you could use instead. People can complain all they want about the fanservice and cameos in the past few Spider-Man films, but at least they only had returning characters played by living actors. And when this movie already has the niche, out-there Nic Cage Superman cameo, proving they were down to do things as out there and inoffensively creative as reference unmade movies, it’s really just inexcusable. It doesn’t ruin the movie for me, but it makes me lose a bit of respect for the people who okayed this over less offensive cameo ideas.
IS IT REALLY THAT BAD?
To my surprise, this film actually turned out to be pretty good. Not “great,” not “the best superhero movie ever,” but genuinely mostly good and enjoyable.
My opinion is that the movie is good in spite of itself. The third act is truly a hot mess, the stupid desert battle against Zod is awful and boring, Supergirl is depressingly pointless, so many plot points are just dropped or otherwise forgotten, and the CGI necromancy is nothing short of ghoulish. But the rest of the movie is truly a lot of fun. Barry and his younger self have a fun dynamic, Keaton really manages to take what little he’s given and show that he’s still got it as Batman, the Clooney and Cage cameos were delightful, and most importantly the emotional moments are actually effective.
I think with a bit more polish this film could have actually lived up to the hype around it. There is a great movie in here being suffocated by fanservice and CGI but still managing to get a few gasps of air regardless. I think if they’d kept the conflict more grounded or made Reverse-Flash the primary antagonist, things might have turned out better.
I think its score is pretty fair. My friend @huyh172 described this as “the worst good DC movie,” and it’s an assessment I fully agree with. It’s not as good as Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Suicide Squad, the Snyder Cut, or Shazam!, and it’s definitely not as bad as stuff like Wonder Woman 1984 or Josstice League. It’s also a bit too enjoyable to be mid. It’s just a really solid movie held back from true greatness by some damning flaws… and really, that makes it the perfect capstone to the "Snyderverse," a cinematic universe that had some solid movies but was held back from greatness by incredibly bad ones.
hi! I saw you were doing a mini series with conrad and speak now and was wondering if you could write something with mine?
Hello lovie!! Thank you for your request! This was actually going to be the next song I was going to do!! 😂💖
Tumblr media
Y/N walked along the familiar shoreline, the memories of that unforgettable summer with Conrad Fisher etched in their heart. The waves crashed against the shore, mirroring the surge of emotions that filled their soul.
Conrad had been a ray of sunshine in Y/N's life, bringing joy and laughter to their days. Their connection had felt like destiny, an undeniable force that drew them together. They had shared stolen kisses under the moonlight and promises of forever.
But as the seasons changed, so did their lives. Responsibilities and distance created cracks in their once unbreakable bond. Y/N and Conrad drifted apart, their paths diverging in unforeseen ways.
Years had passed, and Y/N found themselves standing on the same beach where their love had blossomed. The echoes of their laughter and whispers of their love filled the air. They wondered if Conrad ever thought of them, if he had held onto the memories as tightly as they had.
And then, a figure appeared in the distance. It was Conrad, his eyes searching the shoreline as if seeking something lost. His gaze locked with Y/N's, and time seemed to stand still.
"I never forgot you," Conrad finally said, his voice carrying a mix of longing and regret.
Y/N's heart skipped a beat, the weight of the years melting away. "I never forgot you either, Conrad. You were mine, once upon a time."
A hesitant smile tugged at Conrad's lips, as if relieved to hear those words. "Can we start again? Can we find what we lost?"
Y/N took a step forward, closing the distance between them. "We can try, Conrad. We can start anew and see where our paths lead us."
As the waves crashed against the shore, Y/N and Conrad embraced, their hearts intertwining once more. The past was just a chapter, but their love had endured, ready to create new memories and write a future together.
Hand in hand, they walked along the shoreline, the whispers of the waves carrying their hopes and dreams. They knew that their journey would have its challenges, but their love would anchor them through the storms.
In that moment, Y/N realized that sometimes, love finds a way to reclaim what was lost. The summer they had shared might have faded, but their love had remained steadfast, ready to bloom once more, defying the passage of time.
So, The DCEU movies are on Netflix, and I'm watching them. And it remains me of the old arguments.
Henry never got MoS 2. (breaks my heart)
We'll never see Justice League 2 (I really wanted to see Dark!Superman and Darkseid)
However: Ray Fisher and Ben Affleck never got their stand-alone films.
Henry got MoS
Jason got Aquaman 1 and 2
Gal got Wonder Woman 1 and 2
Ezra got The Flash
Movie Redo: My take on Batman's Insurgency from The Snyder Cut
Tumblr media
While I was not crying out for more Snyder content, I was surprisingly impressed with Zack Snyder's Justice League. Yes, it is a long, and a little heavy on slow motion, but it had a vision that in my opinion, make his first two movies better. I don't think I connect with it in the same ways other do, but clearly it invokes passion.
While Zack Snyder's Justice League brought closure to a lot of DC fans, it brought a want for more from a lot of others, particularly in its closing scenes involving the Knightmare.
Tumblr media
This battle between Batman, heroes, and an evil Superman has been teased throughout Batman vs Superman and The Snyder Cut. While I don't think this will ever truly happen, I want to focus on one aspect of the film that boggled my mind, the team that Batman assembles.
Tumblr media
Batman assembles of team of heroes and villains to fight Superman, which in theory is a lot of fun and should be a team worth rooting for. However it is made up of (mostly in hindsight) some problematic stars and questionable choices in characters, none whom I believe could actually defeat Superman.
I want to go through the DCEU and make a team of heroes and villains that I think 1) would join up with Batman 2) would be able to put up a fight against Superman and 3) would make for an interesting movie.
Stipulations for myself are no heroes introduced after The Snyder Cut, as Zack would not have had access to them. So sorry, no Blue Beetle, no Supergirl, no Black Adam. But any heroes and villains introduced before then are fair game.
Tumblr media
I also want to generally keep the same types of characters that are on the team. Let's say two villains, two younger heroes, and two Leaguers.
First, let's look at who is staying:
Keepers
Tumblr media
Besides Batman, I only have the one.
I think having a Justice League member who remembers what Superman was like and to have Batman's back is a great idea. While I do love the Barry and Bruce relationship in comics and other media, Ezra Miller is not a person I can stand behind nor do I want to see in more movies for a long while.
Ray Fisher was done dirty by Warner Bros and Joss Whedon. He is a fantastic actor and plays my favorite character in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Bringing him along as both muscle and tech support makes sense. And given his technology being of alien origin, he may have a chance of actually putting up a fight against Superman.
In this film, I want Cyborg to represent the hope for Humanity. He has been taken over by something terrible, like alien technology, and has overcome it. Despite everything that has happened, Cyborg still believes they can save the world, and Superman. I think it would be a nice change of pace for the character and keep him at the heart of the film.
Now let's go on to the fun ones.
The Villains
Tumblr media
The DCEU has a surprising amount of villains to choose from when it comes to people who would join the team. While both Joker and Deathstroke are fun fan favorite characters, I think for this cast, we can do better.
While I love the idea of Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, he doesn't seem suited for a fight with the Man of Steel.
Tumblr media
Similarly, Jared Leto's Joker seems like a pointless nuisance at best. Having a crash wild card on the team seems fun, but wrong direction.
Let's start with the obvious pick.
Lex Luthor
Tumblr media
If we are doing a world where Superman truly goes evil, why not get help from the man who has been saying he would the Whole Time?!
I'm not a huge fan of Jesse Eisenbergs Lex Luthor, but in the post credits scene, he had seemed to calm down quite a bit, and seemed closer to the Luthor we know and love.
I still don't know if he entirely would nail it, but having Luthor on the team adds that same level of uneasiness Joker does while adding competence.
Luthor could have a chip on his shoulder with a lot of "I told you all" energy I love. And with his strong knowledge on Superman, and maybe a mech suit, he'd be incredibly useful against Superman.
Tumblr media
I think we missed an opportunity to further Luthor's involvement in this universe in a fun and interesting way, and he should absolutely be a part of this team.
Ocean Master
Tumblr media
While I did love the inclusion of Mera, I did not love the inclusion of Amber Heard. Having a violent Atlantean out for blood and vengeance for Arthur's death is a fun concept. Which brought me to his brother, Orm.
My hope is in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Orm comes to an understanding and love for his brother. If that were true, Superman killing his brother (and likely the world's oceans) would put him on a warpath with Orm.
I think Orm is one of those characters elevated by the actor playing him, Patrick Wilson. And given Wilson and Snyder have worked together, I think the collaboration is in order.
Tumblr media
I think Orm is a good middle ground between Mera and Deathstroke, filling out both roles all while bringing an angry, violent energy to the team.
Heroes
Tumblr media
While there are quite a few heroes in the DCEU, I tried to pick heroes Batman has not interacted with, or that would join his cause. Let's start with the bigger ask:
Harley Quinn
Tumblr media
If we want to match that chaotic Joker energy, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is the better way to go about it. This would be reminiscent of the Injustice Games where she goes good, following Batman's lead as his second in command.
She can represent how far both she and Bruce have come, having put aside their differences, even forgiving her for the death of Robin. While I know she's not the truest hero, we only see her as a protagonist throughout her films, and I'd like to keep her that way.
While I don't think she's the most useful in a fight against Superman, I think she still adds much needed humor to the bruting team. Plus, we can give her a Kryptonite hammer and boom, she's in the fight.
Tumblr media
I also want a character who can annoy Lex with her presence. I think those two would be at each other's throats the entire time.
And Finally:
Shazam!
Tumblr media
If there is one thing Batman is known to do, it's recruit a kid. While we can't have the Black Adam/Superman match up the Rock so desperately wants, we can have a more competent Billy Batson on the team.
As a hero with similar powers and magic at his disposal, Shazam would be the most capable in a fight against Superman. In this version, he has lost his Shazamily, and now hones the power of all of the Council of Wizards, making him the ideal foe for Superman.
Tumblr media
Batman not having an absolute tank on his team in the fight against Superman is insane. Shazam serves as Bruces back up plan incase they run into Superman. While he doesn't truly believe Billy can beat him, he thinks Shazam could sacrifice himself and save the others in time to come up with a true plan.
Levi can add comedy but mix in drama and sadness of his lost family. Levi's acting is often underutilized in the Shazam films, and under Snyder we may get some absolute gold.
Having a powerful Wizard, an Atlantean King, a Genius, a Motherbox enhanced Cyborg and one of the best members of the Suicide Squad on a team together led by Batman gives us not only a colorful cast of characters, but the DCEU a fighting chance against Superman.
Cyborg
Tumblr media
Victor Stone
I love this guy. I notice he always will be on a team no matter what.
Live Action & Animated & Comics:
Movies: Each movies he always has somewhat of a big role which I love. cameo scenes he makes are fun to.
Teen Titans & Titans- (comics) This one's early and intresting lol didn't know Cyborg's parnets experiment on him. But still lead to the same thing.
Justice Leaque-(comics/movie) Sometimes I forget depending on the version he joins the Leaque as a young adult. I love it even though they treat him as a child they mean well becaue he pratically was.
Doom Patrol & Young Justice(shows)- I love how these versions of cyborg aren't fully cybernetic prostectics. Doom Patrol live action was a fun show. Young Justice came back and it was cool though I don't like when the show is overpacked with charcters. It's Young Justice not Justice Leaque Unlimted. Still gave him alot a screentime which I'm happy for him. (Wish they could do that more with Female Black superheroes)
In comics he had some solo comics lasted not to long. Cyborg longest was at least #23 issues
Come to find out it's the 2011 New52/rebirth run is the alien tech aka motherbox.
Tumblr media
Iterations of cyborg has always stayed the same just with minor tweaks nothing major. Still my favorite version gave him more focus. Him having to deal with being half robot, still missing being human having a normal life before the incident. I didn't know that the show held back his power too he's a little op. Hope to see him have more plotlines in the future.
Tumblr media
Favorite elseworld stories:
DCeased- This story was a tear jeaker
Tumblr media
Injustice- Basically Evil Superman & all out war between heroes.
Tumblr media
Missed out on:
Suppose to be stand-alone Cyborg movie was scheduled date of April 3, 2020, but it's been canceled. I'm mad as hell that the actor Ray Fisher got damn black balled from Hollywood and no one help him that much in his situation.
The the verse stories were people vote for new stories back in 2022
Tumblr media
it lost but damn I would have love to read it.
