fuck it transition timeline

I was originally gonna wait until July to do this because that'll mark 3 years on E but I feel like now's a good time all things considered

With that out of the way lets start from the beginning AKA freshman year (AKA 2018)

This was on my way to band camp which is why you can see my trombone in the background (random fact: that was the only year I got to do marching band and our show was "the music of harry potter". yeah irony's a bitch ain't she?)

This pic is from 2020 because I switched to online and finished high school early out of spite (I was 16 here if you were wondering)

Now then this is from 2021 and was taken only about a week before I started hrt when I was 17

The lake in the background is Lake Superior in case you were wondering. Me and my mother were all the way up on the Keweenaw Peninsula for my family's 4th of July party held at the family farm

Moving on from that I started HRT on July 22 2021 (the appointment was at 9:30 am and I took my first dose at 7:42 pm yes I kept track)

This was taken like a half hour after my first dose (I actually don't really like this pic that much but I'm including it because it is important)

Fast forward from that a year to 2022 when I was 18 and here are a few pics of me around then one of which again featuring best boi Jinn

That brings us to now. I've been on hrt for about 2.5 years now if my math is correct. I'm pretty much living full time as a woman, started laser hair removal a couple months ago (next apt is actually tomorrow lol), and I'm working on getting my legal name and gender changed. It's been a long ride thus far and I don't really plan on stopping anytime soon so yeah here ya go

So this is random, sorry, but someone I know is reading a touch of darkness (I think you've mentioned it here before) and oh my gods your right?? It's literally just LO in book format instead of a Webtoon. Persephone and Hades in a "modern" setting except this time he's a gambling den owner instead of running a corporation that stands in for the underworld. Persephone is a student at university etc etc until she happens to run into Hades (and is already weirdly fascinated with him for some odd reason). Enemies to lovers tropes out the wazoo, badly written smut etc. Like wow I know there's bound to be some overlap but this feels almost copy pasted. It's like a weird vicious cycle of the modern era where we keep getting the same tired Hades and Persephone story of "their in love really and they hurt people but it's hot and Demeter is a helicopter mom" that follow the same formula. Why is it such a thing? LO, a touch of darkness, losing beauty etc. There's so many of them.

OMG SO I HAVE A FUNNY STORY ABOUT THAT ACTUALLY LOL

a pal sent me this a couple weeks back and uh. I'm like 95% sure this person is talking about A Touch of Darkness:

That said, I think it's really ironic that people are trying to 'report' whatever book this could be considering the characters in LO are not really Rachel's 'characters', but A Touch of Darkness is SUPER egregious with how much it ripped off LO. It came out in May 2019, and LO started in the Originals section in March 2018, though it was on Tumblr before that so I don't think it's far-fetched to think that Scarlett St. Claire read LO and was 'inspired' to write a novel that was exactly the same.

The reader here though says that LO came out 3-4 years before this unnamed series, which does make me think it could be something else, but it's also "series of novels" which A Touch of Darkness definitely is at this point.

So yeah, this could either go nowhere due to Rachel not owning anything when it comes to the Greek myth characters in her 'retelling', or it could lead to the smackdown of the century LOL

When did you start playing Choices? What was the first book you played?

I think it was in 2018, and I first played Bloodbound 1.

When and why did you join Choices fandom?

It was December 2020. I was really struggling at that point; my whole life had changed, and I still hadn't come to terms with it after a year. It was just an escape.

How did you pick your blog name?

It’s just my name and what I do.

It’s just a pfp i did over halloween. It’d me dressed like Sally from Nightmare before Christmas.

Do you write fanfiction, create fan art, or are you one of those really gifted people who do both?

I used to want to be a writer. I really love writing stories, I’ve never really written any fanfiction, but technically, I can draw and write.

How long have you been creating for Choices and for any other fandoms?

It’ll be four years in December since I’ve been creating Choices-related stuff, but ever since I was a little kid, I’d get obsessed with different shows/ characters and write/ draw them.

What is your favorite Choices book, and what is your favorite Choices book to create for?

My favourite book is definitely Bloodbound. I love drawing BB related stuff because I have a slight obsession with Kamiliah

Share your first Choices fanfic or fan art that you posted with us. Do you still like it, or would you change it if you were creating it today?

It was a drawing I did for @ao719. I think I would change a lot if I were to draw it now. I don’t really like it anymore, and my style has definitely changed over the years. I find it really embarrassing looking back at old drawings.

What is your favorite piece of fiction or art that you created?

A BB animation (I still haven't finished), but it was really fun writing the story and designing/ drawing everything.

Do you have a creation that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to do well but found it could use a little more love?

I never expected any animations to do well and was very surprised when they did. I’m really sure that I would like to get more attention.

If you could only draw one style or type of art for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I don't know. I’m moving into my own flat soon, so I’ve been drawing some scenery pieces I’m going to put up once I’m there. I find them really therapeutic to draw, so maybe that.

Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs?

Sometimes.

What element of art do you struggle with most?

Probably finishing the pieces off. By that point I’ve stared at it for so many hours that all I can see are the problems with it.

Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?

Absolutely, I’m going through a lot right now so there’s quite a lot of things that i really do want to finish but i just dont have the motivation.

If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to see your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you show them first?

Maybe. My big brother taught me how to draw, so occasionally, I’ll let him look at some of my drawings.

16 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing or art? Are there any artists that influence you?

I can’t think of anyone published that I looked up to or have really inspired my artwork. There’s definitely people that i know in my life that have.

Which one of your creations would you like to see fiction written about?

I have absolutely no idea lol

Do you write original fiction or create non-fandom art?

Yeah, I love creating new characters and really animations doing animations of my original characters.

What other hobbies do you have?

A lot of crafty things. I was taught how to sew, knit, and crochet as a kid, and those are things I still enjoy doing now.

Hey hi! i figured i would ask you this since you’ve been in the fandom much longer than i, but do you know what the typical timeline is for Ghost album then tour?? is there a pattern to it? I would imagine after the end of this tour they would start working on a new album, and then tour off said album, what’s typically the wait for how long until the album release, and then how long until tour off that? if there even is one. i know ghost is very pattern in everything they do so i wondered if pattern was here as well

There is a pattern actually! Or at least there was up until Impera, but the timeline of this one got a bit fucky due to the pandemic.

Between 2012 - 2018 it looked like this:

2012 - tour finished in August (last show was in December, but it was one-off), 2013 - Infestissumam released in April, tour started in February/March

2014 - tour finished in September, 2015 - Meliora released in August, tour started in June/July

2017 - tour finished in September, 2018 - Prequelle released in June, tour started in May

So basically there was roughly a 8-10 month break in-between. Tobias seems positive the next album should be out in 2024, so I’m assuming summer or fall, depending how long it takes him to finish or if there’s any other plans for 2024, and also when the DVD from LA is set to be released. Either way, start saving up lol! It's gonna be an exciting year!

What , And how did you start pairing lotura, And Plance .?

Ooooh boy am I excited to answer this!!! This is going to be a long answer, hope you don't mind! Because I have some specific memories about these two ships, particularly lotura, that I would absolutely love to share with you!

Prepare for a long read! Hehe

Starting with lotura, when season 3 came out and Lotor made his debut, of course I was all 👀👀👀 Because that day something awoke in 19 year old me that I didn't realize could ever be awoken lol. And I wish I could remember exactly what my reaction was to his cat-and-mouse chase with Allura in the episode "The Hunted", but at the time I must not have considered the idea of them ever going in the direction of a romance. Looking back now though, how could I have been so blind??! That chase scene is HOT. I mean just look at them!!! Look at Lotor especially woah mama 😳

Season 4 was mediocre to me at the time, I will confess, for a lot of different reasons. But then season 5, man... SEASON 5!!!! I remember it was March 3rd, 2018. I wasn't keeping up with the show anymore, but I just so happened to see an article online that said season 5 had been released the day before on Netflix. I told my sister and we decided, "eh, let's watch at least the first episode."

And we watched the first episode, alright. And then another, and then another and another until we watched all six episodes in one sitting. We were both blown away! Lotor... Allura... together???? 😲

Their adventures, their chemistry, their clear attraction to one another... I was OBSESSED!!! I shipped them hardcore after that. They were and are still my #1 OTP, and it's because of them that I really tried to work hard and improve my art! I wanted to draw them all the time, making mini comics and AUs, and while their tragic ending actually left me in tears and I was upset for a really long time, I can now say that I have been able to heal and move on from it--eh, mostly anyway, haha.

It still hurts, but 5 years later I feel that I've matured and come to a greater understanding and acceptance. I have come to really appreciate how perfect they are for each other, both aesthetically of course (cuz lookit that sexual dimorphism babeyyy) as well as the many, many things they have in common. I have also come to appreciate their flaws, their imperfections, and the mistakes they made regarding each other and their relationship. They may have gotten a sad ending, but they were still truly equals in every way. It's just beautiful, and my love for them now is stronger than ever :')

For Lance and Pidge on the other hand, it's not quite as clear as when I started shipping them! I remember rolling my eyes at Lance and Allura's first meeting, like "okay Lance is one of THESE guys, here we go 🙄"

Other than that I didn't really ship Lance or Pidge with anyone! If I'm recalling correctly, I don't think it wasn't until after season 6 that I started shipping them together. I remember reading metas and analyses of their relationship that people were making in anticipation for season 7's release, and the more I thought about it, the more I started to really like the idea of Lance and Pidge getting together! And there are definitely subtle hints throughout the earlier seasons of Pidge's feelings for Lance, as well as their fun chemistry with one another, like the episode "Space Mall"!

The hints are not so subtle to me now, but back then it wasn't until I watched season 7 that I actually became hopeful that they could be a couple! I especially loved the moments when Pidge indirectly called Lance "cute, in a creepy, hideous sort of way" lol, and when Lance become very protective over Pidge in such a way that I don't think we ever saw him react before! I was honestly taken aback by that moment!

And again, their ending was definitely less than satisfactory, particularly Lance's ending (still hate it with a passion), but just like with Lotura's relationship, I have also come to appreciate many things about Plance's relationship today. While Lotor and Allura have so much in common and are able to reach an understanding with each other that they can't with anyone else, it would seem at first that Pidge and Lance are far too different to be compatible. And it is true that they are very different, but for one, that can be a good thing! The foundations of some relationships are built off of their differences. It can make someone more compassionate and more open-minded when they have a willingness to accept and appreciate the differences they have with their partner, and a willingness to take a genuine interest in the things that their partner is passionate about, even if they don't completely understand.

And two, at the same time, Pidge and Lance DO have things in common! They both love their families, both have a stronger connection to Earth compared to the other paladins, and they are able to bond with one another over fun pastimes such as video games! How cute is that??!

And just like with Lotor and Allura, I also love Pidge and Lance for their flaws. It did take me a while to come around to Lance, because while he has his funny moments and one-liners, I also found him very annoying at times lol. But I think the fact that he can be really annoying honestly makes him the most realistic character in Voltron. Not necessarily the most relatable, at least not for me, but definitely the most human! Because there are people in our real lives that we love and cherish deeply, but they absolutely have their moments where you go, "ugh, you're so annoying and it really frustrates me when you act this way" but we still wouldn't trade them for the world 🥰

And just to draw one last comparison between Lotura and Plance, I especially LOVE how incredibly different the two pairings are even from each other! To me, Lotor and Allura are sexy and passionate, while Pidge and Lance are pure and fun! They're all so unique and special in their own ways, and they bring so much to the table, both for their characters and for their relationships.

I can't help but write essays every time I get asks, I'm so sorry lol 😭 There's so much more I could say about these guys, but I think I'd better stop here haha! I had a lot of fun writing about Lotura and Plance, and I hope you had just as much fun reading this! I really love these characters a lot. I'm so incredibly grateful that they exist, even if in the form of fiction, and I'm even MORE grateful that my love for them has continued to grow over the years. Thank you so much for the ask!!!! 💖💜💙💚

Oh and one last thing: we were robbed of a lot of different potential interactions with a lot of different characters, but I have to say it would have been fun to see more of Lotor and Lance interacting with each other! Lance was always acting out due to his jealousy, while Lotor on the other hand mostly just ignored him lol.

i know you get asked this probably 16 times a day but as a fellow artist who usually paints based off of references of real pics and trying to be somewhat realistic. how did you develop your style? did it take awhile, or was it pretty immediate? did you start out doing mediums like painting and drawing and transition to digital or was it always digital? final question: do you have any “tips” or “words of wisdom” for silly people like me who wanna try digital art but never have and because i never have im too scared to try…? sorry for the elephant stampede of questions i just really love your art and would love to know YOUR THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS!!! hi ♡♡!! this is so kind & honestly i'm incredibly touched... I forget that people even like my silly art so this had me making 🥺 eyes at my phone. i will answer your questions to the best of my abilities!!!

DON'T BE SCARED OF THE SWITCH TO DIGITAL!! it's so fun and the undo button will change your life... come take my hand... my biggest tip is to watch speedpaints! that was really huge for me when making the switch. find artists with styles close to yours & pay attention to their steps (how many layers they have, how they do lineart, do they use overlays, etc). if you do this a lot, you can get a clearer sense for how the digital workflow/process can look for you

i feel like kind of a pompous asshole discussing my own "style" or whatever 😭😭 my silly yaoi fanart 😭😭 but i do want to answer your questions!!! i started out drawing traditionally but i transitioned to digital when i was 16. and for a very long time i was one of the people who drew with my finger on my iphone .......i def get the most questions about my style & the unsatisfying answer is that it's pretty much always been there. it's evolved over time in a way i can't really describe so i'll show it visually

(my examples are all my ocs in an attempt to get you guys to be curious about them)

Jungkook 3 (or 4) Wlives on 14 March 2023

A Jikook filled event, with and without JM even being there (physically or virtually).

Let's talk about JK, the non conformist, the rebel with a cause, who decided to give us a 3 part date on White day.

And yes, I'm 100% sure most army believe he was on a date with them. Question, my friends, is which 'army' that was exactly...

One thing for sure, JK showed up on white day, and right through all three lives, scratch that, all 4 lives, he weaved in JM. JM, their relationship, was inserted into every single one of those lives, one way or another.

White day

A significant day for couples in SK (Japan and China as well). The loved one that received the gift on Valentine's day is on the giving side on White day.

White day 2022 JM posted this pic on his IG

We also know they went out to a restaurant with friends, a restaurant they used to frequent and ever since the photo of them there leaked they stopped visiting.

Oh, and yes, lest forget JK's cover to Only then was gifted to 'army' on White day 2018.

Yeah, this wasn't a song for army, unless it was JM 'army', that is.

So, white day is meaningful to couples and is meaningful to JM and JK as well.

I know that there are many that don't believe in the Jikook number theories. Think it is a coincidence. Think that 8 November has no significance to them and that they don't seem to conveniently keep coincidently mentioning these numbers or seemingly mention numbers that have to do with said date. All a coincidence.

So, my friends, let's talk about the 8/11 coincidences during these three lives, why don't we?

14.3.2023 - starting time: 8:11 PM.

Some might say a coincidence.

I say hell no.

Just like this was no coincidence:

No math, no calculating needed. It's right there for all of us to see.

So yeah, did he do the 8:11 again???

Now, although there could be discussion, legitimately, about the second and third lives and the 8/11 - you either believe they do the math or you don't - but there can be no discussion as to the first live. Nope. Spin it around as much as you will, the numbers still land on 8/11, no surprise what so ever.

We get the black and white combo sweatshirt (jersey).

Were we symbolising the black and white couple?

All I'm saying is that it's an interesting choice.

Live 2

Wearing the white airy loose fitting collared button up shirt. White day obviously comes to mind.

White shirt black pants. Again the black and white.

What also comes to mind is his JM birthday message to JM way back in 2022. Same vibe.

The playing with the hair, the showing of the tattoos, the glasses at one point. Couldn't help but think of that JK created clip. Especially after JK tells us he could actually see properly and only brought the glasses because he thought he'd look good in them, lol.

Live 3

Purple jacket (nothing underneath, ahm...) and white beanie, for the winter, ski lodge, vibe.

Purple a colour we know they both revert to many times. It's army, it's JK and JM (purple and yellow).

And the white, well white day again?

Looks like that showed up for us in the first 2 lives (third one he was all covered up, so no telling if he still had it on).

It's a little hard to tell if it's the same chain. Especially because it's a plain silver chain with no pendant. But it definitely looks similar. 🤷‍♀️

Timing, outfits, accessories, all good and well, just more brush strokes to that big ass neon coloured sign JK was painting for us telling us this was no coincidence. The lives on white day, a date with 'army' when 'army' was far far away.

But if those were the brush strokes to the sign, where is the sign itself, you ask.

So what else did JK do? Say? Play? Show?

First, let me mention that JK knit picked his playlist in this live. He was sitting there just passing song after song choosing the songs he wanted to listen to, was in the mood to listen to (within a playlist he had already going).

Hate everything

JK, out of no where says there's a song he never sang for us live, and goes looking for this song (it didn't come up on his playlist, he went looking for it).

It felt to me like JK doesn't frequently listen to this song. It's not on his playlist, he didn't know the lyrics (unlike other songs he did know the lyrics to).

Remember this cover of his?

You know, the one he posted when JM just got released from hospital Feb 2022. Same cover that he timed at 1:18 min.

Felt it was an interesting choice of song, given it just come up on his playlist, nor seemingly, is it one he listens to too much (the second part is my conclusion).

Live 3

Falling

Singing Falling, knowing the lyrics kind of proves my previous point. A song listened to a lot as opposed to one that probably isn't but suited a point JK wanted to make or suited a mood JK was in at the time.

This is a song liked by JM and JK, we got to hear JM singing it during Festa 2020.

Anyway, JK released this song on the 4th anniversary of his and JM's trip to Tokyo.

Another coincidence? I don't think so.

Well, obviously we got JK mentioning JM in the first live when There for you came up.

In live 2 JM actually shows up. And JK finds the need to explain to him about how this is part two and how he changed outfits for this part, lol.

Nice use of honorifics there JK.

NOT.

Well, not at first. He rectifies it by opening the next sentence with hyung, lol.

First instance JK rectified. But when JK thought JM left the live he got all commando on him, this time leaving the honorifics behind completely, calling him to come back.

@KMFACT summed the whole interaction so well in her 2 minute clip:

Live 3

Foreshadowing?

Fly away butterfly.

Live 4

Let's talk about live 4. Because JK wasn't going to come back for another part 4. Given, he ended part 3 while crying (yes, he was crying) and I'm assuming forgot to convey the message he wanted to and for which he came back with live 4, which was around 5 minutes long.

In live 4 he tells us he wanted to say goodbye properly. It's not that he didn't say goodbye at the end of part 3. Just saying.

He continues to say that he wants us to be happy. Be happy even if they aren't there. The translation here is a little different on Weverse than it was from the translation accounts. Weverse translation being happy even if they aren't "here", while the accounts were translating it as be happy "even without us". Kind of rings differently.

Him bringing it up then and there made me think that perhaps that's what was one of the things on his mind when he was pensive prior to the tears forming in live 3.

Anyways, JK came back to also (or perhaps to mainly) convey another message:

So yeah, JK telling us to look forward to midnight, something amazing is coming, "please look forward to that".

He meant this amazing thing, btw:

The tears

Fake tears, not the real ones that came at the end.

Pause for a second, I'm over here ugly crying a little.

Throughout the 3 lives JK makes use of those fake tears.

Funny story he tells us, that he actually bought a whole lot of them for Bam, who was having issues with his eyes. Laughing at how similar the two are, eye problems, skin problems...

It does look like he's having issues with dry eyes.

But, when seeing it, every single time he pulled out those eye drops, I couldn't help but think about this:

Lol, even more so in the second live.

Showing us the hand tatts.

Ok, so this, to me, is a big one, and as usual kind of overlooked.

As opposed to many that think so, I really really don't think this was about showing us his ARMY tattoo, or being proud of his ARMY tattoo.

Why don't I think it's the army tattoo he's showing us?

Maybe because of everything going on? Maybe because he told us he wasn't too happy with the army tattoo itself.

Maybe because he picks the song, Golden hour by JVKE (when showing us the hand).

Maybe because he sits and listens to it, lingering on.

Maybe because he plays around with the candle, placing it just in the right place to showcase the tattoos he was planning to show us and when he was done he pulls it back towards himself.

Maybe because he clearly knew the song, and the lyrics as well.

Maybe because of how he timed it, showing us the tattoos at the exact timing that he did.

Maybe because of the way he showed them to us, the way he wiggled his fingers.

2023 in Mittens Fic

It's once again time for the annual accounting of things I have written! I think this year's total fic count, at 4, is my lowest ever, but I still managed more words than my two lowest years (peak pandemic, i loathe you still).

2022 | 2021 | 2020 | 2019 | 2018 | 2017 | 2016 | the closest thing I have to a 2015 wrap up post is the lil bit of text at the bottom of 2016′s post… even though my two most popular fics were from 2015 lololol

So I guess my main writing goal for 2024, since I know I will never surpass my 2015 totals, is to just do better than I did in 2023. Here's to more fic!

I managed a Pinefest fic, a fic I started for DCBB but didn't finish by the draft deadline and posted on my own, an annual destielversary fic, and an annual holiday fic. I think that's the bare minimum of what I try to aim for in a year, so even if I'm personally disappointed I didn't get anything else written in addition to that bare minimum, I'm glad I was at least able to hit that goal. Across this year's four posted fics, there's a total of 110,875 words.

Also, again slightly cheating, but since I've mentioned it for the past two years, I'm still making the @spngeorg podcast! In case the millions of words of meta I've written over the years aren't enough, and you want to hear me yell out loud about the show, you can start from the beginning on Spotify or wherever you enjoy podcasts! Or if that sounds daunting, since I just uploaded Episode 138, 7.12 Time After Time, which makes the backlog a lot to catch up on honestly, you're also welcome to just jump in now. Everyone please come yell with me! I swear, if you do start from the beginning, that I get dramatically better at this whole thing as we go on... at least, I think I have. If nothing else, episodes are far more manageably shorter now that I've developed a system. Only took 2 1/2 years, but here we are... :'D

With that business out of the way, let's break down those numbers! Presented in the order they posted:

Dear Western Red Cedar #2409 (63,433 words rated M) Written for @deancaspinefest with gorgeous art by @alexiescherryslurpy, and inspired by this tumblr post that had been plaguing my imagination for several years. It's a two person love triangle with Forest Ranger and secret bestselling author Dean and small town librarian Cas. Heck I want to go reread it just thinking about it now... this is a happy place fic for me.

one working part (40,051 words, rated E) I started this for DCBB, but failed to make the draft deadline, then finished it before posting began anyway... another canon finale fix-it fic, but this one is heavily It's A Wonderful Life flavored and based on a conversation I had with @greywrenn last year. This story picks up at the beginning of 15.19, and then slowly veers more and more from canon, running alongside canon and making rude hand gestures at canon along the way, because they all deserved to have nicer things than canon gave them.

all the time in the world (1,289 words, rated T) This is my annual Destielversary story, short and sweet. It's set immediately after the events of One Working Part, but you don't have to have read that to enjoy this one. Just know Cas is back with Dean, and they've got the rest of their lives stretched out in front of them.

Christmas, Present (6,102 words, rated T) My annual holiday fluff fic, this time set in an AU, since most of my past holiday fic has been canon universe. A Dean/Cas college AU, with Matchmaker Charlie who just wants her friends to be happy already!

And that's my year in fic (unless I manage to post something else in the next 33 hours or so, and lol no that ain't happening...)! As per usual, I've already written more than half of this year's word total for the 2024 Pinefest, which will post in March... or april... heck when is my posting date even... it's coming soon anyway! But it's all written! :'D

Once again, I've still got so many more stories I want to write. Even the To Be Written list has grown again. My idea list long ago surpassed SABLE status, and yet now there's even more on it...

It's five pages, and two thousand words longer than it was last year. this just gets worse every year :'D

But that means I'll never run out of things to write, and that's always something to celebrate!

I'm mostly self taught with a lot of stuff and have done lots of research on a per-project basis, but Acerola and Freya Holmer are two of my favorite channels for learning graphics or technical art things. Shadertoy is also an amazing resource to not only create and view other's shaders, but learn about algorithms and see how people do things!

I also wanted to talk a little bit about I do research for projects!

A lot of my proficiency in shaders just comes from practice and slowly building a better understanding of how to best utilize the tools at my disposal, almost like each project is solving a puzzle and I want to find the most optimal solution I can come up with.

This is definitely easier said than done and while a lot of my proficiency comes from just doodling around with projects and practicing, I understand that "just practice more lol" is a boring and kinda unhelpful answer. When it comes to projects like my lighting engine, I came up with a lot of the algorithm stuff myself, but there were certainly lots of details that I learned about from past projects and research like ray marching (calculating the ray intersection of a distance function) and I learned about the jump flood algorithm from a tech artist friend (calculating distance functions from textures)

Each new algorithm you learn in various projects ends up being another tool in your toolbox, and each project becomes a combination of researching new tools and applying the tools you've learned in the past.

One last example. I made a Chladni plate simulation in blender (that thing where you put sand on a metal plate and play noises and it makes patterns) and it started with me researching and looking up chladni plates, I watched youtube videos related to why the sand forms the patterns it does, which ended up being due to how the sound waves displaced the plane. I googled some more and found the actual equation that represents it, and used it to simulate particle motion.

Figure out some projects you want to do and just do some googling or ask for help in game dev discord servers or whatever. Lot's of research on a per-project basis is honestly how you'll learn the most imo :3

Thank you for the ask, my tired brain will try it's best to talk about how what when happened and yeah... let's go

Early Phase (2012-2016)

Basically me knowing that Psy exists because of Gangnam Style and later Gentleman. Young me really enjoyed those songs, but there was no real connection to korea or the idea/culture of kpop.

Then my sister introduced me to the song Tomorrow by BTS but because I was in my anime phase at the time, I just put it in my anime playlist. I fucking loved the song tho lol.

No bias, no real opinion either lol.

BLACKPINK Phase (2018-2019)

I don't really know how but I found Blackpink and started to vibe with their songs and style, which got really enhanced by their dance of DDU-DU DDU-DU on Just Dance 2019, which i played a lot. I got into them a bit more and my sister (who was a kpop fan behind my back basically kek) showed me Monster of EXO and Don't Wanna Cry of SEVENTEEN.

I was deinitely not a kpop fan, hell, I had no real clue about the culture or other groups or the fact that BTS, who I had one random song of was currently on and unprecedented rise. Everything was set in place, but I was still only danving to D4 lol

Lisa is my bias, though I dunno what that is yet lol. I like Blackpink, but the concept of kpop was not yet really in my mind.

Covid-Lockdown Phase (March 2020-May 2020)

This was the void. There was nothing to do, nothing thag mattered. All responsibilities were on hold. Time to watch vids my siblings to pass the time.

What are they watching? Asian men I do not understand? Looks... fun! With every day, every video, every song I add to my playlist I fall deeper into this glorious hole that is kpop. Like a sponge, I suck up all the content until I am this weird multistan with no sense of direction but the unbridled want to know more and to listen to more.

Blackpink, then BTS, then Twice, the it was already basically everyone else. Kpop filled my time with more fun than everything else could have. Life, strangely, was perfect. During a fucking lockdown, I reached a peek that continued.

My favorite group is BTS by a HUUUGE margin, my bias is switching between Lisa, Jin and Dahyun.

Deeper Into the Hole (June 2020-March 2021)

I add more groups to the list I like. KARD, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, EXO, NCT, SEVENTEEN, Everglow, aespa, TXT, ATEEZ... it never seems to stop. New releases left and right filling my mind to the point were even drastic changes in life cannot shake me up. I'm still falling, reaching deeper for more.

I find songs that I love to death. Answer by ATEEZ especially has me with adrenaline on every listen. It is about now that I find it not that difficult to remember names of members and that I see some (especially) female idols as very pretty.

BTS best group, Dahyun best girl.

K-Pop-Fan (April 2021-August 2021)

Basically yeah. Multistan that had commited to IZ*ONE last second because they were more than just good... they were literally the greatest girl group ever... though I have yet to realize it.

My life is going quite well, I have fun, I don't get tired of this genre that id more than music. It's stupid game shows, funny compilations, memes, stupid takes and pretty people. Around this time I get a bit spicy, reading fanfiction, dumb W*ttp*d stuff with crazy stories until...

Smut. Fuck, since when were TWICE this hot???

But this WP stuff is quite cringey... so I looked around and found Tumblr. First was Peach, then ddeun and then... Levi.

BTS best group, TWICE a close second, Dahyun best girl, Nayeon and Minju were in the hunt.

Smite, Smut and Smusic (September 2021-March 2022)

I messaged Levi (basically just a fanboy letter lol) and he encouraged me to try writing myself. The last time I wrote creatively was 2016, so I really doubted that I could pull something off.

About a week later, I'm in this server with all these cool smut writers and yeah... everything went crazy lol. My life was different and so was my kpop life. The visual effect of idols grew exponentionally, from very high to absurd, yet I still found myself finding beauty and attractiveness in other people around me. I dunno how to explain it lol.

I was writing, listening and also chatting with these new amazing friends that helped me navigate through what were difficult times while also being incredibly talented. My hobby of kpop now turned to another hobby with a new group of friends which grew to great importance in this phase.

BTS an inch before IZ*ONE, Minju easily my new ult.

That's my life (April 2022-now???)

A lot of stuff happened in this time frame but my attitude towards kpop, this community, writing or idols hasn't changrd too drastically. I saw my first concert, that was awesome. IVE rocks my world, other 4th gen groups fight their way to my heart, while I still really love older stuff.

I reach thousands of followers, find new insanely pretty and hot idols, write way too many fucking stories about fucking lol. I listen to almost everything, kpop is still my No. 1 hobby, yet it never overtook my whole personality.

BTS-IZ*ONE-IVE, Minju remains No. 1 but I love so many other idols, especially Yujin and Gaeul.

sometimes it’s fun to think that Miles just has to go to school right after the events of BTSV. bc i can only assume all this is taking place over a weekend, since he was at home nearing sunset for the party, which probably wouldn’t be allowed on a weekday without Miles sneaking off of school grounds. The other theory is that he’s just starting his spring break, since ATSV is taking sometime in March, and the meeting with the counselor just so happened to be close to it, even though i don’t really buy that bc why such an important meeting with so many students & parents days right before a break? wouldn’t it make more sense to have it done during a normal week? but it’s whatever bc it’s more of a “well schools are different everywhere” thing, and less funny than “Miles saves his dad and his universe and gets a C- on his pop quiz the next day” to me so i don’t really consider it that much

Edit: wait no, that can’t be possible because ..? hold on i need to do some math .

Edit 2: am i missing something??? Miles became spider-man in december 2018, and he says he’s been at it for a year and four months, which mean he’s been spider-man for 16 months, which would make ATSV take place in 2020??? so i was right about the month just not the year . okay we got there. yeah this makes sense bc he had to have had his birthday lol uh doy

Which art do you like best? (´∀｀)♡

This is my second year in which I made a living just from my artwork and I'm SO grateful for that! ✨ I improved my commission schedule this year, I have always someone on my waiting list and I didn't have to take a break due to a lack of customers! Also, I'm happy with how my artwork looks but still want to improve it, and - my biggest struggle - I want to start drawing for myself. I bought a drawing tablet recently and I hope it helps me with it! 🤲

But let’s do a little rewind! As usual, almost all my artworks are commissioned work but in January I was posting redraws of my OCs which I didn't upload last year - I have to get back to those it was so much fun! This year I did more fanfiction covers (February, August, November, December) - which I LOVE to draw and I added this option to my commission info! Also did more illustrations with more than two characters (April, May) which is always challenging - especially interaction between them - but group pics were something I always I wanted to do more. I also did a few things for myself (June) including my OCs which is always refreshing to get back to my own creations. The next thing I enjoy making are "comic pages" (July, September) It makes storytelling in art much easier and fun, maybe I should make a proper comic page in the new year? And I have to mention making Bleach-related staff (March, October) as a long Bleach fan I still can't believe we have a new anime season, and making artwork connected to character design is something I would like to expand in 2024. Unfortunately, I didn't do any art raffles and art challenges this year and it's something I find joy in so I definitely have to go back to it! ~ I didn't really meet my last year's art resolutions so I will not try to force myself to do anything this year lol But I hope I will still do what brings me joy and this is what I wish for you too!

*HUGS* I hope YOU were okay from the storm!! Yes, I live in the Capital region, but thankfully the worst I had in my neighbourhood was a tree next to my building literally was PEELED from the ground (it looked wild, LOL). A couple of my coworkers who live on the QC side said they had no power for over 2 days, so their Easter was pretty poopy, bleh. It's SO weird now thinking just a week ago we had that wicked storm when today is a BEAUTIFUL summer day, 20˚C and sunshine. WEIRD.
