Songs of enticement: [knowing the difference between sirens and mermaids]
Summary: There you were, princess of the sirens. One of the most powerful beings of the depths, now face-to-face with a random merman, you met at the border. You have met an enemy of your people and have not done anything about it yet. You thought he wouldn't come up to you, seeing how you were minding your own business and trying to hunt. But when he starts to swim towards you and uncaringly passes the border that has been set for 1000 years, you couldn't help but believe that things are about to take a turn for the worse..or so you thought. (Forbidden love, teehee)
Word count: 1.2k
Cw: slight mentions of cannibalism? (Eating people)
Next pt: Chapter 1 - From the start
Hi guys, before I start anything, I just want to clarify the differences between sirens and mermaids and y'know their beef with each other (possibly explaining it in the first chapter). Some headcanons for each species are in there.
Sirens -
Sirens are creatures of the depths; they only go up to shallow areas to feast on humans when they're low on food, which isn't very often. Mermaids believe that the sirens have no food down in the trenches, so they picture them as skinny and malnourished, ravaged by hunger, and they use that excuse to cover up their "unyielding rage against us mermaids". Yeah, no, they're well-fed. Regarding anything that involves customs, I guess eating people is one of them. When they reach a certain age, they have to at least hunt one human. If they wish not to harm them after their coming-of-age ceremony, it is fine to do so. They don't have last names but have titles; they worship dark magic gods; and with females being most prominent in this species, the sirens are matriarchal.
OOO SHAPES AND COLORS (mostly colors) -
Sirens are usually dull in color, ranging from shades of green to blues and very dirty-looking grays. They typically don't have a secondary color as a complementary design to go along with their base color. It is important to note that a siren's hierarchy is based on not only how strong you are but, more importantly, on how bright and colorful your tail color is. The reason is that sirens are attracted to shiny things and are more attentive to them, so the brighter and prettier your tail color is, the higher your position in the hierarchy is.
Mmmm Majik -
Sirens can use magic, but not the usual magic that mermaids can do, but dark magic. Sirens have the capability of understanding how to use dark magic. Although its usage is frowned upon in different societies, dark magic has become part of their culture. To them nothing bad happens if they don't overuse it for anything bad, but using it too much can become very tiring, as does regular magic. Older sirens will teach their young ones how to do simple spells; they will continue to learn more powerful spells as they grow older, attend school, and whatnot. As for common folklore, sirens are great singers, and they are. They just have trouble controlling its manipulative abilities (pfft).
what they look like???? -
Sirens have noticeable differences from mermaids when it comes to their anatomy. Sirens have sharper teeth and fangs; they have retractable claws; they have spines on their tail; and other than being less colorful than mermaids, their fins are usually sharp. A siren's most prominent weapon is their thick and heavy tails. They are built to survive the crushing pressure of the depths, unlike those weak aah mermaids😭. Adapting to the depths was hard for them, but after 1000 years, their eyes have changed to help them see better in the dark. Their sclera is pitch black, while their pupils are slits that will adjust to the dark. Their irises, however, remain unchanged (because it's still pretty to have different eye colors. Sirens usually live up to around 200 years, and as they age, they grow in size. Comparing baby sirens (around 1-5 years old) who are usually around 114 cm (around 3 foot 9 inches for those who don't use the metric system..ehem RAHHHHHHH🦅🦅🦅🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲) to the current queen (135 years old) who is around 533cm (17.5feet). They can get..pretty big.
Home -
Mermaids believe that sirens are cold-hearted and savage, that they won't be able to live happily, and that they are stereotyped as being a type of neolithic society. They are completely wrong. The sirens are living in something similar to Los Angeles, just with fish. They have tried their best to propagate livestock and make farms of edible sea plants that are able to live in the depths. For a few decades, it was difficult, but they have found the right type of species of both flora and fauna that can survive the crushing pressure of the depths. Contradicting the mermaid stereotype, sirens are actually smart and have problem-solving skills.
HEY GUYS ROYALTY! -
Current Queen or Regina Fossae - Queen Accipiter.
Latest King (he dead) or Rex Abyssi - King Corvus
(If yall figured out what I'm naming them off of, I can explain...I like birds. I would've named y/n Luscinia if I could)
Current Crowned Princess or Domina Profundis - you duh, you just don't like telling people.
YAY MERPEOPLE -
Merpeople (mermaids and mermen) are a race of fish-like people who live near coral reefs and live where light touches the water. Most are bubbly and easygoing. Sirens think of mermaids as snobby little shits who only care about how their hair flows with the water and how colorful and shiny their scales are (they aren't wrong). Merpeople are omnivores and don't feast on humans, they love to sing serenades and y'know the good stuff. It's all about beauty; that's how they choose their Queen. Again, this is a matriarchal society (move aside men, it's time to slay), they have last names, and their names are closely related to human names since they interact with them a lot, and they only worship the sea gods.
SHAPES AND COLORS PT.2 -
Merpeople are brightly colored, ranging from pastels to neons. They do not like dull colors at all, and I mean, they hate it a lot. They'll think you're ugly just because your scales aren't pretty like theirs. (#mermaids are racists.) Everything is a beauty contest for them.
Majik powars -
Merpeople aren't really good with magic; sure, they can do transformation magic and talk to fish, yknow, all that jazz, but they get tired really easily.
What do they look like -
Merpeople are very focused on their looks. Their hair is really silky and flowy. They usually don't have any sharp frills or spines on their tails. They have regular human teeth, basically just humans with a very colorful tail stuck onto their torso. They live the same amount of years as sirens do, and they also get very big as they age. (Idk what else to write.)
Home -
It's kinda advanced tbh, but it's just a city with a big ass white castle smack dab in the middle of it. Their agriculture is better than the sirens since they have access to the sun (because, duh, plants need it) and an overabundance of fish since they have control over the epipelagic and mesopelagic zones. Recreational activities are held near coral reefs (if you don't know the zones, you should look them up, it'll be easier to understand). Merpeople cannot go past the Bathypelagic zone. Anything lower will be passing over to the siren's side of their territory.
Royalty -
Queen Conchata -172 year old mermaid with a glossy black and blue design on her tail.
Not much is known about the royal family after the death of King [redacted]. As per Queen Conchata's request, her life will be kept private.
OKAY I THINK I GOT EVERYTHING? I MIGHT HAVE TO COME BACK AND ADD A FEW THINGS AFTER EACH CHAPTER I DUNNO HOPE THIS CLEARS UP ANY CONFUSION. (kinda died writing at the end)

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not Part 03
Continued from 09/13/2023
“I don’t understand what the problem is, Emma,” Logan, pleads as he put on the black and neon blue wetsuit.
“How do you not understand the damned problem?” I growl at him. I stare at him while he pulls the neoprene up to his chest and shoulders. He is large, two hundred pounds and six-feet-tall. His red hair glints in the sunlight and his green eyes sparkle with the ocean’s reflection. I point to his mother, holding my fins in my hands. “You invited your mother on our second honeymoon. After what she pulled at the wedding, she’s lucky that we don’t cut her out of our lives completely. You promised me that she wouldn’t be here.”
He stiffens at my statement. “I can’t cut her out of my life. She’s my mom, and I’m the only person she has left.”
“Logan, you always pick her over me. Hell, I woke up this morning on the pull-out couch, instead of in bed with you. You’re my husband, and I want to spend our second honeymoon together.”
“But I’m here with you now,” he sounds confused.
I sigh, knowing that I am not getting anywhere with him. “Never mind.” I take my fins and walk away from Alicia and him so I can get some of the fresh ocean air in my lungs.
“Everything all right?” the skipper of the dive boat asks me.
I paste on my fake smile. “It’s doing good. Just wish my MIL wasn’t here to ruin my second honeymoon.”
He cringes at my statement. His dark sun-tan skin accents his dark blue eyes and blond hair. He is toned, like a swimmer, and for a brief second, I imagine going diving with him. His lean body kicking the water as we glide under the water’s surface. He smiles at me when Alicia’s shrieking rips my daydream away from me. “I guess you should get back to your disaster waiting to happen.”
I return his smile. “You have no idea. Maybe a shark will eat her.”
His laughter is loud but warm and inviting. “Maybe.” He leans down as I pass in front of him to get back to my husband. “Or maybe you’ll find someone who will treat you better than he does his mother.”
I think about his words as I walk back to Logan and Alicia. My husband was helping Alicia put on her neoprene wetsuit over her ill-fitting bikini. He zips up the back of the suit, and I think that she looks like an over-stuffed sausage in casing. Logan helps me get the buoyancy control device (BCD) on my back. He holds it in place until I get the vest snapped on fully. I put on the weight belt that will allow me to sink into the water. I feel comfortable in my gear, having bought it years ago before I became obsessed with numbers for my job.
“Looooogaaaaan,” Alicia whines. “I need help.”
He looks at me. “Do you mind helping her while I get the rest of my gear on?”
I want to tell him that I would, in fact, mind, but I cannot get the words passed my lips. “I can.” I walk over to Alicia and pick up the BCD. “Put it on like a backpack.”
“I don’t want your help,” she snarls at me.
“I don’t want to help you out, either, but Logan asked me to,” I whisper sharply in reply.
She finally snaps the vest on, and I head to the back of the boat. There are three other groups with us for this dive trip. I put my fins on my feet, place the mask over my face, and step off the boat into the crystal-clear water. I inflate the BCD with the air from my tank to keep me afloat. I flip onto my stomach while the other divers hop into the water. I breathe through the snorkel while looking at the reef below.
The bright coral was muted with the water’s depth. The reds, oranges, and yellows of the fish were still visible from where I floated. I look to the sides to see if Logan and Alicia have come into the water yet. The other divers are already gone, swimming down to the reef’s edges to see the beauty that lies there.
Part of me wants to swim away and into the reef. The other part of me knows better to wait for my husband as my dive partner. I let my mind wander to the boat skipper and my imagination took over. I could see us swimming amongst the coral and fish, going inside an undersea cave, then spending the rest of the night looking up at the stars from his dive boat. I allow myself this daydream, because even though I am an accountant by trade, I am a diver by desire. I wonder if I can give up the life I have to become a dive instructor. Teaching people how to properly care for their equipment, how to navigate in the open water, and how to find themselves when they are lost in a cave.
I shake my head of such thoughts, because they would not pay the bills that I need to afford. That reminds me that Logan and I need to have a talk about his mother and how much he pays her per month. We have discussed having children, and if he continues to pay Alicia, I want to stress that we will not be able to afford both children and his mother.
I know that Logan will never cut his mother off, so I have some tough decisions to make. This trip has opened my eyes in many different ways. He will always put her first. It is like I am the mistress impeding on their lives. It is not just this second honeymoon that she has ruined. She ruined the engagement announcement, the wedding, our first honeymoon, our credit scores, and the ability to buy a home.
They finally jump into the water. Logan helps Alicia with getting her BCD inflated so she would not sink to the bottom of the ocean like the anchor she is. “Ready?” he asks me, and I nod. He tosses me the dive camera. “You forgot this!”
I catch it and attach it to my wrist. I press the button of the BCD to sink under the water. He and Alicia both follow me down. I make my choice to go into the reef, whether they follow or not. I need this time to recenter myself for the fight ahead. I love him, but he will never love me like I need in return. It hits me like a shark flying through the water. I want a divorce.
I glide through the water, using minimal energy to kick, so not to annoy the creatures of the reef. I take my pictures, letting the joy and wonder of the ocean fill me. I add a little bit of air to my BCD to keep me neutrally buoyant, so I neither sink nor float up.
I look around and see Alicia heading into an underwater cave. Logan is chasing after her, yet neither of them have cave diving experience or training. I flick my flippers and race to catch them before they hurt themselves. I reach the cave within half of a minute. I take a picture of the cave for prosperity sake.
I look inside and see their flashlights reflecting off the dark cavern walls. I carefully swim inside. I reach out to find the guideline, but there is none. This is not good. A guideline is used to get people out of caves in case they get lost. I am glad that I always carry my bright orange twine with me. I find a stalagmite and tie the end of the twine to it.
I go into the cave, flicking on my flashlight. I swim towards the other two lights, trying to catch up to them before they get too far out of my sight. I find them quickly and grab onto Logan’s ankle. He kicks me off of him, until he realizes it is me. He points ahead, where Alicia is still going into the cave.
We catch up to her and try to get her to turn back towards the reef. She refuses, shaking the two of us off of her. I look to Logan, who just shrugs. I hold up the twine reel, so he knows that I can find the way back out of the cave. He gives me a single curt nod and follows his mother into the cavern.

Court of the Undying Seasons by A.M. Strickland
Tumblr media
Read: 11/05/2023 - 17/05/2023
Rating: 4/5
Rep: pan demigirl main character, pan love interest, Black lesbian side character, bigender side character, agender side character, queer side characters including pan & aroace characters
CW (provided by author): blood drinking (voluntary & forced), violence, gore, death & murder, child abuse, child neglect, mind/body control, consent issues, uneven relationship dynamics, death of a queer character (but most characters are queer), death of a parent (off page), death of a mentor, substance use (alcohol, mushrooms, vampire blood), mild gender dysphoria, mild body horror
Review:
When vampires come to Fin’s village to choose someone to turn into one of them, Fin makes sure she’s the one who gets chosen. This way she can make sure the girl she’s secretly in love with will be safe, and she can use this as an opportunity to learn how to kill vampires so she can avenge her mother. She’s taken to a vampire finishing school where, as she’s slowly turned into one of the undead, she must learn different vampiric skills to a high enough standard to be accepted. Failure means death or becoming a human thrall, neither of which are an option. Things get complicated, however, when people start getting murdered, and the deaths all seem to have some connection to Fin.
I liked Fin as a main character! She was reckless enough to be willing to do things that drove the plot forwards, but still reasonable enough not to verge into ridiculousness. Except for this one incident when she was so determined to yell at someone that she refused to let a likely fatal injury be healed for a lot longer than was reasonable. She was just clutching at her still-bleeding wound as she shouted and honestly I was so entertained by this that I don’t even care how unrealistic it was. Sometimes the need to chew someone out is simply bigger than whatever crisis is unfolding no matter what it is and I think that’s a feeling we can all relate to on some level.
I found the relationship between Fin and Gavron to be believable, and I enjoyed watching them gradually come to trust each other and see each other as an ally. Also, they’re Very Into mutual blood drinking, more so than is apparently typical for vampires in-universe. I thought this was a very fun aspect of their relationship to read about, but it might not be for everyone, even for a book about vampires. If detailed descriptions of blood drinking are going to bother you then this isn’t the book for you. If you’re down with that then full steam ahead.
I think the consent issues inherent in this premise were handled well! Gavron is Fin’s vampire maker, or sire, to borrow terminology I’ve seen used in other vampire media, and this inherently means he has some power over her due to him being in that position of authority. There’s also a significant plot thread regarding the vampiric ability to control the actions of humans. If left unaddressed, all of this would have serious and troubling implications. Thankfully, it wasn’t left unaddressed. The ability to consent (in both sexual and non-sexual contexts) is a point of discussion, and Gavron and Fin place heavy emphasis on being equal partners in their relationship. They could’ve easily been super codependent and toxic, but they very deliberately weren’t, and I appreciated that.
I loved some of the side characters in this book! Especially Jaen and Kashire. Jaen is a bigender scholar, who’s largely kind and compassionate, but who’ll show no mercy to those who cross him or hurt his friends. She gets the book’s sole f-bomb and it’s glorious. Jaen’s the character I’d most like to be friends with out of everyone and the person I think I’d get along with the most. Kashire is a lot of fun. He’s Gavron’s ex, and is introduced to Fin in such a way that she takes an instant and very understandable dislike to him, but as time goes on he grows on her despite how much she wishes he wouldn’t. They’re totally besties by the end. Besties who still pretend to hate each other half the time.
If you’re looking for a morally grey world with morally grey characters, a vampire book that doesn’t shy away from the darker aspects of such a story, and a casually queer cast, then you’ll probably enjoy this one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for providing me with an e-arc in return for an honest review

Info about Reaper
Fandom/ships with: Resident Evil, Wesker and Heisenberg
(Left is main form only minus the red eyes because I couldn't find something that worked, the other two are mutations meant for aerial and aquatic combat respectively)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Reaper aka Project Omega
Age: Around 25
Background: Originally created by Umbrella in a prototype for Hunters known as the Black Shucks, but more DNA was added to the creature to give it an advantage over more advanced creations. This led to the ability to manipulate its genetic structure to allow it to mutate at will. This allows it to sprout extra appendages, wings, fins, spikes, etc. It also allows it to alter its organ functions to make it capable of breathing underwater. It gained an advantage over others of its own kind and the Hunters by being socialized by humans that taught it how to speak and understand language. This allowed it to learn the weak points of the Hunters so it could exploit said weaknesses. This led to it being the only survivor of its kind as it slaughtered the others in order to prove itself as a creature worth keeping. It was further experimented on to learn how far it could be pushed into becoming a perfect predator. This resulted in an incident where 5 scientists and 35 fully armed mercenaries were torn to shreds in a matter of 20 minutes. In turn this allowed the creature to wander the facility freely. It ended up becoming loyal to two humans it bonded with. From here it would help handle the Mansion incident, Raccoon City incident, Baker estate incident, and the incident at the village incident. Reaper's loyalty lies with strictly two individuals, Wesker and Heisenberg.
Additional information:
Height: (on hind legs): 6'9
Weight: 320 lbs
Subject is capable of very quick mutations and is able to do so at will. Subject has demonstrated the ability to adapt its body to its environment in order to survive.
The subject appears to have a favorable affinity for the Cadou after being directly exposed to it by Miranda. It's unclear what mutation it gained from it, but it seems the subject is capable of gaining the abilities of those recorded by the Megamycete. In order to do this the subject must consume a significant amount of flesh and blood from its victim to have the Megamycete record them. It seems the subject always goes for the heart to do this. The subject has already consumed Miranda's heart before rapidly mutating and consuming the rest of her body.
Subject is capable of controlling its cells to mimic specific traits by altering them at will, for instance if the subject wishes to fly faster it mimics Miranda's wings but alters the DNA to give it more bat like wings similar to what it naturally has
Is the subject capable of mimicking any of the Lords or lycans? It would be prove problematic if it were capable of imitating their abilities. More studies must be done to confirm this
The current abilities of the subject are as follows: regeneration, flight, mutating into various forms best fitting particular situations that will be discussed later, very limited mimicry, tendrils can be expelled from any location on the body, subject's body is constantly mutating so it remains adapted to its environment
Mutated forms of the subject appear to be based upon what the subject needs are described as follows
1: dragon like, subject gains a hardened layer of scales on its body, subject is capable of flight, it appears this form is focused on defense given the durability of the scales and how bullets were unable to pierce its hide, surprisingly the subject is very fast in this form
2: this form is reminiscent of a shark mixed with a sea serpent. Subject's skin color changes to make it blend in, becoming red when deep underwater and changing to make the subject difficult to see in water. The subject gains echolocation in this form despite still being capable of sight

I need to tell you that you’ve managed to become one of my favorite twst writers in the span of a single evening. I spent the majority of last night reading all of your twst content. As a monster lover, I feel obligated to say thank you for all of the food. There is a fair amount of monster f*cker content in the twst fandom, but most blogs only have a small handful of monster stories. So when I saw the amount of monster content on your blog, I almost wept.
If you’re still taking requests from the monster prompt, how about 21 “Taking you away from the human world was the only way to save you" with the Mer-trio?
(Wow... I did not realize people considered any of my content to be monster-fucker food. Anyways you wrote Mo21 in your request but the prompt you typed was for Mo20 so I did that one. Hopefully you still like it!) 20. “Taking you away from the human world was the only way to save you” (Yandere! Octavinelle Trio x Fem! S/o)
Stormy nights were (Y/n)’s favorite kind of nights, nothing beat being wrapped up in a warm blanket, looking out her window at the rain falling and the occasional flashes of lightning that lit up the skies. The only thing that could even begin to compare to the wonder of stormy nights were the mornings that followed them, when the earth was still wet from the rain and the sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon.
You were sure to find something interesting outside after a storm. However, what (Y/n) found in her pool that following morning more than exceeded her expectations of something interesting. The winds from the storm had dropped debris into her pool making it look more like a sliver of ocean than part of suburbia. She began clearing the tree branches and other chunks of flora when something in the water grabbed her leg. A less brave soul would have called an exterminator or animal control at this point but (Y/n) did not, instead she retreated inside for the time being to start thinking up a plan of action. It wasn’t until night had fallen that she approached the pool again this time armed with a broom and a bag of fish she’d bought at the store the day of the storm. She tentatively poked the water with the broom and nothing happened. Then suddenly a webbed hand darted out of the water and yanked on the broom making (Y/n) drop the fish she was holding into the water as she tumbled into the pool with a gasp. As she sank under the surface she locked eyes with something that flashed her a toothy grin before it grabbed her and swam to the surface with her in its clutches. As she broke the surface of the water she was able to see there were at least two things in the water with her.
“Nee Jade the fish the human brought with her taste awful” the thing not holding (Y/n) said with a whine as it bit off the head of one a fish and swallowed it whole without chewing any further. The girl looked frantically between the two creatures trying to make sure she wasn’t just seeing double in the darkness. Nope, there really were two of them yet they looked eerily similar like twins. “Ehhh Floyd, if they taste so bad why are you still eating them?” the thing holding (Y/n) answered with a tilt of its head as its ear fins twitched with curiosity. The girl had to assume that Jade and Floyd must be the creatures’ names, not yet processing the information that there were literal talking fish-people in her pool. That knowledge would take a few more moments to sink in, at which point (Y/n) let out another gasp.
“You?! You can talk?!” (Y/n) said her words spluttering out like water out of a clogged faucet. Her sudden words drew a laugh from both mermen and Floyd swam closer as he took another big bite of the fish he’d been chewing on. “Of course we talk shrimpy, what did you expect silly?” he said with a toothy grin even wider than the one Jade had given her when she’d been sinking down to the bottom of the pool. “Give her a little credit, Azul did give her quite a scare earlier when she was trying to remove the gunk and almost forced him out of hiding. I don’t think intelligent life was exactly what she was expecting to find after that” Jade said, his tone a mix of condescension and comforting as he hugged (Y/n) closer to his body. The girl’s mind was ready to short-circuit as a third voice joined the conversation. “I only did that so she’d stop digging around while other humans might be around to get involved” this third voice, the aforementioned Azul she guessed, said with only its head poking out of the water and no visible ear fins to be seen. However when (Y/n) looked down she could see masses of tentacles below Azul as well as the long eel-like tails that made up the bottom halves of both Floyd and Jade’s bodies. “I don’t feel so good” (Y/n) mumbled right before blacking out and going limp in Jade’s arms. When she came too she was lying on her side out of the pool with an eel-merman staring at her impatiently. It took her a moment to identify which one it was by which side his black hair streak fell and she finally said “Floyd?” to which the eel-mer grinned and nodded his head at her as she sat up. “Yep that's me Shrimpy, you gave us all a real scare by passing out like that” Floyd said his tone playfully accusing as (Y/n)’s eyes darted down to check if she’d really seen what she thought she’d seen. Yup, the young man still had an eel tail instead of legs and she hadn’t just imagined all of it. “Heeey my eyes are up here Shrimpy” Floyd said with a pout grabbing (Y/n)’s chin and forcing her to make eye-contact with him. “Sorry! I’m still getting used to the whole, merfolk are real, thing. I just wanted to see if you really did have a tail or not” (Y/n) said not liking the way Floyd’s nails pressed her skin making it clear he could crush her jaw like a grape if he put any pressure on his grip. Luckily her words brought a laugh from the eel-merman and he released her jaw before hauling himself up out of the water to sit next to her. “Wanna feel?” Floyd said, gesturing to himself with a grin. Tentatively (Y/n) nodded as she reached over and gently ran a finger down his tail. “Aww Shrimpy I barely felt that, do it again and put a little more elbow grease into it” the eel-mer said with a whine as he grabbed the girl’s wrist and placed her hand flat against his body. Obediently (Y/n) ran her hand down the male’s skin feeling the slightly slimy yet smooth quality of his tail under her fingertips. “You two look like you’re getting along nicely” Azul commented, swimming over to the pair and surprising (Y/n) out of the stupor she’d fallen under from petting the eel-mer so she almost tumbled back into the pool. The girl only just barely kept her balance this time to the amusement of both mermen. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you…” Azul trailed off, waiting for the young woman to provide her name. “(Y/n), I’m (Y/n)” (Y/n) said quickly. “I know this is an insensitive question but how’d you end up in my pool? I mean I’ve had a few crocodiles thrown in my pool by a particularly bad storm once or twice. That's what I thought I was dealing with before when I brought the fish. Just a few crocodiles, not three mermen and… I’m rambling sorry… This is just weird as hell for me” the girl said looking sheepishly off to the side. “Don’t worry this is an odd situation for us as well” Jade said having swum back over to the group partway through (Y/n)’s rant. “We’re not in the habit of showing up in random human pools, somebody just made a mistake with his potion mixing and accidentally summoned a tsunami that dropped us off here” the eel-mermaid added giving Azul a bit of side-eye, to which the octo-mer grumbled under his breath and pouted. “Regardless we’re kind of stuck here unless we can get the ingredients to make another potion to take us home or we get some outside help to transport us back to the beach and to the ocean” Jade said giving (Y/n) a meaningful look. The girl’s face scrunched up in thought, she didn't know these young men very well and she wasn’t sure she could trust them as far as she could throw them (which wouldn't be far). However, her sense of morality overcame her fear of strangers and she let out a reluctant sigh before speaking. “I’ll help you get back to the sea, I have a car but I don't know if you’ll all fit in it comfortably” (Y/n) said slowly, hoping that her offer might be turned down but that was wishful thinking. The mermen were all more than willing to risk the discomfort of being in her car in exchange for getting home faster. Somehow (Y/n) managed to get all of them into her car (though Floyd was purposely wriggly as a fish on a hook as she tried to set him on the backseat of her car) and began driving out of her quiet neighborhood towards the nearest patch of ocean. During the drive Azul told her about their underwater home, with the occasional comment from the twins, and she had to admit it sounded nice living in the Coral Sea. Eventually, she found a quiet spot of sand by the sea and parked the car before helping the boys out and back into the water. Floyd and Jade went easily enough but Azul seemed to need more help and (Y/n) found herself in waist-deep water before she knew what was happening. All of a sudden the octo-mer’s tentacles were laced around her legs and she was being dragged under as Azul shot forward into deeper water where the eels waited. “Sorry about this Angelfish. I would have preferred that you came to us of your own free will but we just couldn't wait anymore” Azul said, keeping a firm grip on (Y/n) with his tentacles as he swam towards Floyd and Jade who both grinned upon seeing that the octo-mer had been successful in grabbing the girl. Instinctively (Y/n) had tried to hold her breath when she was pulled under only to pass out from oxygen deprivation and wake up breathing water. “What do you think of your new gills? Pretty nice aren’t they?” Azul crooned, his tentacles still wrapped around (Y/n)’s body and tightening when she tried to struggle free of his hold. “Ah, ah, aw Angelfish there’s no need to fight I’m not gonna hurt you” the octopus-merman said in a gently scolding tone before raising his voice to alert the eels that (Y/n) had finally woken up. “Shrimpy’s gills are so cute! I almost wanna pull them and see if she screams” Floyd said excitedly pinching one of the delicate, lacey gill slits that now occupied (Y/n)’s neck. The girl let out a yelp of pain which brought out a laugh from the cruel eel-mer. “Now, now Floyd we can’t go pulling (Y/n)’s gills willy-nilly. Not unless she misbehaves that is” Jade commented running a finger along the other side of the girl’s neck feeling her gills for himself. “We’ve all had our eye on you for a while now Angelfish” Azul said bringing (Y/n)’s attention back on him again as he leaned in to kiss her softly. The feeling of the tweels’ hands over her gills ready to choke her, was the only thing that kept (Y/n) from fighting the kiss from the octo-mer. “The human world… it's just too harsh a place for a sweetheart like you. Taking you away from the human world was the only way to save you” Azul added after a moment. “Plus the fact you’re really cute” Floyd added before smashing his mouth against (Y/n) and biting her lips as he kissed her hungrily. The girl whimpered into his mouth but her protests were all muffled by his tongue against hers until he finally pulled away grinning. “You probably won't see things our way at first but you will” Jade commented before he went in for a kiss softer than his twin’s but still rougher than the octopus’s. “After all we’ll have all the time in the world to change your mind…” THE END

Corrective Lenses
[TOH, Lumity, Glasses, Established Relationship, the Library, Soft Fluff] AO3
Luz gets glasses and Amity likes how it looks on her a little too much. Luz is just happy to see her as she is.
--
The sight of it made Amity go through seven different emotions at once.
She wouldn’t be able to name them all because the only thought swimming in her silly, smitten head was Luz, and a charming pair of wire-framed glasses, and the way that her nose scrunched up now and again while she was trying to get used to the weight of them.
“They even got the little squiggles on the bark,” Luz whispered in wonder. It snapped Amity out of her daze, reorienting to her to here-and-now.Right. Bonesborough Library. Art Section. Luz was inspecting every nook and cranny with brand-new-eyes, so to speak. Eda had picked up on the fact that Luz squinted every time she had to read or watch something on her phone. A quick trip to a contact from the Healing Coven had confirmed her suspicions: Luz needed glasses.
Amity would never wish poor eyesight on anyone, but was it so bad to be thanking the Titan for treating to her to a view this good? Luz scrunched her face again. Then she adjusted the spectacles up the bridge of her nose.
Oh Titan, she really had it bad.
“I mean how do they even do that! They carved that into wood like, inversely.” Luz chattered on.
Amity looked at the print in question: it was the black-and-white image of a little stream with a tree hanging over it. The details were exquisite—every leaf was discernable on the branches, there was depth in the texture of the bark and shrubbery. The riverbank had a dusting of grass along the edges, with feathery blades that tapered upwards. Luz’s admiration was warranted: the fact that someone had enough dexterity and vision to carve this on a block of wood, backwards, before pressing it unto parchment for printing was an artistic wonder.
The art was great, but Amity needed to be honest: the best part of this little excursion was seeing Luz experience these details for the first time. She walked around the space with purpose, running her fingers against the aged stone bricks that lined the room. She took the time to look at the carved wooden borders of the walls, clearly lit by bright, warm lamps. Luz even looked up to admire the high-vaulted ceiling: there was a small gasp of awe (and Amity will never forget the sound of it). She was always an excitable girl, never staying still, always in motion. But this Luz was a little different. Her gaze lingered, hungry and ready to commit the smallest detail of every item in the display to memory.
It was a lovely thing to watch.
“And what are you looking at, Miss Blight?” Luz raised a suspicious eyebrow, turning around to face her.
Amity blushed, caught red-handed. She smiled despite the heat that reached the tip of her ears, threading her fingers with Luz’s and smiling. “Admiring the art.”
Luz flushed red. “C’mon. That’s not fair. How am I supposed to recover from that?”
“Am I not allowed to compliment my girlfriend?”
“When did you get so smooth?”
Amity chuckled nervously, confidence receding. “It’s taking every shred of self-control I have not to run away and scream behind the bookshelves.”
“Don’t.” Luz pouted. Oh no. Why was she pouting? It was making her stomach feel silly. “I’d miss you.”
Amity froze for all of two seconds—and then Luz was shooting her a shit-eating grin. She shoved her entire hand onto Luz’s face, pushing her away while doing her best to muffle the sputtering laughter that threatened to spill from her girlfriend while they goofed around in the library.
“Quiet!” Amity chided—but Luz knew it was an act from the smile on her face. “Library Zone.”
Luz relented, bringing her voice back down into a whisper. “Fine, fine. I don’t want to be the reason you lose your job here a second time.”
Amity narrowed her eyes. “Too soon.”
“But if I help you get it back—again—will I get another kiss?”
“If you survive whatever I’d put you through if you make me lose it, again.”
They giggled among themselves. But the moment passed and settled to a comfortable silence.
Luz was done admiring the art by now. Her eyes were found a new target: they wandering around Amity’s face. She almost wanted to shrink away in self-consciousness, but something about Luz felt safe. Amity stayed still, content with admiring how well the glasses complimented Luz’s profile.
“Your eyelashes are so pretty.” Luz whispered, so full of sincerity it made her chest hurt. “And you… you have freckles.”
Amity chuckled.
“I can see every strand of your hair!” Luz brought her hand up, brushing her fingers through Amity’s haphazardly cut bangs. “Your roots are showing.”
Her hair was something of a sore spot. It reminded of her everything she tried to be, and everything she decided to break away from. But the way that Luz was combing through it softly felt less like scrutiny and more like reverence.
“I think you’d look good in any color you’d pick for it.” She said it like it was the surest thing in the world. Luz traced her fingers along the edge of her ears, curiously inspecting her earrings—driving the butterflies in her stomach absolutely mad. Amity let her, though. Vulnerability didn’t feel so wrong when it was for Luz.
Then she brought her brown eyes back to Amity’s own. “Your eyes aren’t just gold,” she said in soft wonder. “They’ve got specks of brown, if you look close enough in the light.” Luz leaned in closer.
Amity doesn’t remember the last time that someone looked at her just as she was. It was a vivid realization: the idea that she didn’t have to try so hard anymore—that she didn’t have to prove anything to anyone just so she could be seen.
“I can see so clearly now!” Luz grinned at her, tucking a tuft of purple hair behind Amity’s ear.
“Yeah,” Amity smiled. She wondered if Luz even knew how much this meant to her. “Me too.”

A/N: For veramoray. No beta we run into the fire screaming.
2 thoughts: it is not its easy to crush on a pretty girl with glasses (rather it very much is), secondly I am emotionally invested in Amity realizing that her worth is not tied to her utility and that people can love her just being herself thank u *goes to sleep* | also yes I will write glasses-themed fics for every ship i like

'lover'
Fandom: Magi
Pairing: ren hakuryuu x f!reader x judar
Warnings: Sexual content, hinted unhealthy relationships
Notes: I am not proud of this whatsoever, I apologize for the monstrosity that you are about to read but I hope you enjoy :) plz don’t be mean lol
Tumblr media
                                                  °■°■°■°■°■°■°
Hakuryuu is a tender lover in the ways Judar wasn't.
His touches are gentle, hesitant even, as if she were a valuable piece of porcelain that would  shatter at the slightest movement. He's scared of hurting her, she knows, because that's why he always tries to hold himself back during their lovemaking. His kisses are never too rough, the movement of his hips against her own never too forceful, the marks on her skin never too dark.
(But of course, the moment he notices that he's left marks on her beautiful skin, he immediately apologizes and attempts to heal them; to him she is too precious to ever have such ugly marks on her body, she's not like him or Judar, she can't ever bare such horrid things.)
And Judar would scoff at him during their intimate moments, saying, "For someone who's fallen, you sure are soft."  and she would feel Hakuryuu's grip on her tighten as he sent a scowl at the dark magi, whose rukh was dyed as black as his own.
He was not a vicious lover like his magi.
(For every bruise Judar would leave on her smooth [S/C] skin, he would cover up with kisses.)
To him, [Name] deserved to be treated like the princess she was, no, like the queen that they would soon make her become. He may have given into depravity, but that did not mean he would treat the woman he loved with such callousness, like some whore who would share his bed with him for only a night just to be easily discarded the next day.
She was so much more than that.
Her body was a temple, and he was the prophet who would gladly get on his knees to worship it.
Because she was one of the very few people in this world whom he loved, and who loved him in return. And he'd be damned if she'd end up broken at his hands, to where she'd want to slip away from his grasp and leave him just as everyone else did.
°■°■°■°■°■°■°
Judar is a violent lover in ways Hakuryuu could sometimes but never fully be.
He likes leaving marks on her beautiful skin, because she is simply his (theirs) to do whatever he wants with. His touches always rough, but they leave her wanting more. His kisses are hungry and devouring, and the movement of his hips against hers harsh and the marks he leaves on her skin are sure to send a message to those who dared to look twice.
And he wishes Hakuryuu would stop being such a fucking pussy and fully let go so he could please their queen correctly, as he does to him. [Name] liked it rough, she wanted to be controlled in the bedroom; he knew it by the way she would cry out his name and beg for more as he fucked her roughly into the mattress, or how tightly she would grip the navy blue locks of his king when he would pleasure her with his tongue.
[Name] was a queen who would submit to nobody but them; it could be painful, it could be suffocating, intoxicating, he didn't care because she was theirs; to have, to hold, to use, to fuck. She was willing to be completely at their mercy, and it was a fucking beautiful thing.
He wishes his king could see that. Strong as he was, (and he was very strong, that was one of the things that had attracted him in the first place),  Hakuryuu still had parts of him that were weak. And he wished to snuff that weakness out.
But how could he if that weakness was the same as his own?
(He wasn't blind to the dark looks his king would give him when he got to rough with her during sex, those icy blues heavy and thin eyebrows furrowed, but he simply ignored them and continued on and did what he wanted anyway; after all, he couldn't be blamed for being this way, violence and blood were all he had ever known, and it's not like Hakuryuu minded when it was him.)
But when it came to [Name], it was different.
And though Judar would never admit it, he could understand why.
Because when all was said and done, he would stare at the remnants of his lust on her body, every cut, every lesion—all given by him.
They may of held a certain beauty in his eyes, serving as a symbol of whom she belonged to—but that fact didn't take away the guilt he would eat at him inside. But why? Why did he feel guilt? His own very hands were stained with the blood of innocents, he felt no regret from that. Spreading wars and causing terror were simple hobbies him.
So why, in the comfort of the chambers where he would lay with his lovers, his woman curled up to his side, did he feel a sudden guilt? For hurting her?
He hated it; the way she made him feel. He wanted to hate her. Yet he couldn't bring himself to hate her.
Because the things he hated, he desired to destroy—Just as he destroyed that wicked witch and all the bastards responsible for his fucked up life, just as he wanted to destroy this worthless world and watch it burn with his beloved king at his side, and just as he longed to destroy that little runt of a magi—
But he couldn't destroy her. No, he couldn't even bare the very thought of destroying something so precious.
He may of been a cruel being, adored by black rukh and wielding the power to make nations fall at his feet with the simple flick of his very thumb. He may of had an insatiable lust to reign bloodshed and death to all of those who opposed them, and recreate the world how they see fit.
He may have hated everything and everyone, but he knew this much—
He may of hated many things about this fucked up world.
But she wasn’t one of them.

For the Romping and the Roaring- Part 1
Here is my submission for Day 1 of @serpentfever's Inhuman Event!
Link to read on ffn.net
This is part 1 of the story, and the rest of the parts will be posted, one each day, for the rest of the event. Because of the length of this, full story is under the cut. I've provided a little preview of the story below:
Preview
Perhaps the most strange looking thing about the scene, though, was the small boy perched on the badger’s back. Small black horns pertruded from a head of fluffy blond hair, and long, pointed, velvety black ears wiggled eagerly. Short, splayed fingers gripped the badger’s shoulders, and his small, webbed wings proved quite the contrast from Zane’s feathered ones. Perhaps the most noticeable of all, however, was the long black tail that waved behind him, curved fins flaring out at the end of it. And the delighted trills coming from his mouth were definitely anything but human.
Well, maybe it was strange-looking to anyone else. But for Kai, it was just an ordinary day.

Part 1
“Wake up, sleepyhead!”
Kai groaned, blinking awake. His sister grinned down at him, her arms dangling in his face from where she was hanging, her spotted tail wrapped tightly around one of the structural beams.
“Go away,” he mumbled, tossing a pillow in her face. “It’s too early.”
“It’s ten am.”
“So? It’s not like there’s anything to do around here, I might as well get my beauty rest.”
“Goodness knows you need it, with that dreaded mane of yours.”
He tossed another pillow at her face, which turned out to be a mistake, because now he was out of pillows.
“Why do you always have so much energy? Don’t you ever sleep?”
She shrugged. “I like to sleep in the afternoons. I guess it’s a leopard thing? They’re nocturnal, you know.”
“I know, Nya. I’ve had a half-leopard as a sister for sixteen years, don’t you think I would know that by now?”
“Debatable.”
“I’ll ignore that comment if you let me sleep for a little more.”
“Have you forgotten what day it is?” Nya chirped, beginning to swing back and forth. “Today Dr. Borg is letting us take Lloyd into the city!”
Kai sat bolt upright. “That’s today?”
“Yes, fish-brain! You should see him, he’s so excited.”
Kai scrambled out of bed, startling Nya and making her fall into the bed with a yelp. He shook his head, letting his mane cascade around his face and down his back. Huffing as half of it fell into his eyes, he wrestled it into a ponytail- part of it, anyway- and walked over to the door, Nya bounding after him. The other four beds in the room were already empty.
Opening the door revealed the same thing it always did. Another room- this one much larger than the last one, but a closed-off room nonetheless- stretched around them. There were a few other doors that led to bathrooms, a room with skylights (made with reinforced glass, of course, so no one could break it, even if they had superstrength) so they could soak in the natural light from time to time, and just some rooms with various activities- paints, notebooks, computers, puzzles, TVs, and all the books and video games they could ever want, or if they just needed some alone time away from the others for a bit.
But none of that changed the fact that the door on the far side of the room was always firmly locked.
In the kitchen, Zane was whipping up a bowl of pancake batter. Tawny-colored wings unfurled from his back, stretching freely now that he didn’t have to hide them. The feathered tufts behind his ears twitched as a loud shriek sounded out from the other side of the room.
Kai turned, a purr rumbling in his throat as he caught sight of the large badger lumbering across the room. A small yellow labrador raced after him, barking excitedly.
Kai’s tail thrashed fondly. Well, maybe it was strange-looking to anyone else. But to him, it was just an ordinary day.
Almost.
“Lloyd, you’re here already!” Kai called, hurrying over. The small boy brightened- even more so than he already was- at the sight of him, and leapt into his arms. Kai stroked him gently, and Lloyd purred softly, his long tail thwacking against his leg.
The badger blinked at him, shaking his head, and, in a flash of light, he was gone, a young man sitting on the floor in his place. His curly black hair, with a white stripe down the middle, nearly hid the small black ears poking out. Round glasses framed his dark eyes as he grinned up at Kai, his fangs glinting. The lab jumped into his lap, and the man scratched behind his ears. With a flash, the lab turned back into a teenager, his auburn curls falling into his freckled face.
“Augh, Jay! Get off of me, you lump!” He shoved his friend off of his lap, sending him tumbling.
“Hey, Cole, you could’ve asked nicely,” Jay whimpered, even though his golden tail was wagging, and his ears were perked.
“Yeah, well next time, don’t transform back when you’re in my lap! Having a small dog sitting on me is one thing, a lanky teenager is another.”
“Stop acting like you’re so superior! You’re only four years older than me, barely out of teenagehood yourself!”
“I’m not acting like I’m superior! I’m just telling you not to sit on top of me!”
“Whatever,” Jay grumbled.
“Hey, guys,” Kai snorted.
“Mornin’ Kai,” Jay grinned. “Have a nice lie-in?”
Cole groaned, shaking his head, and Kai shot Jay a glare.
“You shut up with your damn puns, puppy boy.”
“Jeez, apparently someone’s had his pride hurt.”
“I swear, one more lion pun-”
“Fine, fine! I know when my witty quips aren’t wanted.”
Jay,” Cole sighed, “they’re never wanted. Anyways, you ready for today, Kai?”
“You bet! They brought Lloyd in early, today, huh?”
“Dr. Borg wants us to get him ready and make sure he’s behaving well before we leave.”
Kai raised an eyebrow. “And romping around giving him badger rides and riling him up is a good way to do that?”
“Aw, come on, Kai, he’ll be fine. Besides,” his voice lowered as he went on, “he deserves to have a little fun while he’s here.”
Kai instinctively tightened his grip on Lloyd. None of them knew what happened to Lloyd when their caretakers took him away at night, apart from the fact that Dr. Borg insisted he was perfectly safe, but, at the very least, he was alone, and sometimes, Kai, with his heightened sense of hearing, could hear him whimpering through the walls. Lloyd hated being alone, and Kai didn’t understand why he couldn’t just stay with them all the time.
But, like most things, Dr. Borg just kept them in the dark about it.
Not that he was being ungrateful- Dr. Borg had kept them alive.
Issac Borg, son of Cyrus Borg, had taken over his father’s company when he had died, and, as head scientist at Borg Tower, had made it his mission to help the few living hybrids left- Kai and his friends. Dr. Borg had told them stories of how the human world rejected anything that was different from them- that they feared those with different blood such as Kai and his friends, saw them as “monsters,” and would seek them out and kill them if they ever found out their secret.
But Dr. Borg didn’t think the same way as the rest of the world. He wanted to protect them, to let them thrive and grow strong. So, he took them in and helped keep them hidden. He had given them work to do, too, not normal work, but things that only they could do. Dr. Borg told them how the world wanted everyone to be the same, and to hide what made them unique, but he said that they should be able to play to their strengths. Their trainers helped them learn how to fight, and to use their unique skills to an advantage. At this point, Kai had a repertoire of fighting skills he was eager to bring to fruition, but it seemed like the time never came to use them.
They did get to use their skills in other ways, though. Jay often went out in the streets in his dog form, his quick and cunning nature allowing him to be a natural pickpocket, with the ultimate disguise. Zane’s flight abilities allowed him to scope out Ninjago City, and keep Borg posted on the government’s actions. Nya’s agility skills let her slip around nearly undetected, which kept them out of a lot of fights. Kai’s hearing allowed him to eavesdrop for information, and Cole’s strength and digging skills could break through a lot of walls and barriers.
Except for the ones of their room.
For as much as he loved Borg- he was the closest thing to a father that any of them had- he couldn’t help but feel a bit like a prisoner, trapped up in here. He just wished Borg would trust them more.
Kai was eighteen now. He was old enough to keep himself and the younger ones out of trouble.
Which Borg is depending on me to do today, he reminded himself. The others had gotten the hang of how to behave outside of the tower by now, but Lloyd was still so young and often needed reminding. And it was no secret the little oni, dragon, and human tribrid was especially clingy with Kai. It was his job to keep him under control and on his best behavior.
I can do this. I will prove to Borg how trustworthy I am.
“Pancakes are ready!”
His thoughts were interrupted as Zane chirped at them from the kitchen. Lloyd’s warm, comfortable weight vanished from his arms as he leaped to the ground and scurried towards the kitchen island on all fours, climbing up the barstool to perch on top. He clicked and chirred brightly at Zane, his red eyes glinting hungrily, and the falcon hybrid bit back a grin at his expression.
“Use your words, Lloyd.”
Lloyd’s expression dimmed slightly, and Kai frowned. Lloyd’s reluctance to use human words was probably what worried him the most about integrating him into society. But Zane had been practicing with him ever since he could crawl, and if anyone could get him to speak, it was Zane.
“Can I have pancakes? Please?”
“Yes, Lloyd, you may.”
Zane slid two chocolate chip pancakes onto his plate. The sweet scent of the pastry drifted over to them, and Kai felt his mouth water. Jay, Cole, Kai, and Nya bounded over to the island as well as Zane served them the food. Jay jumped up and dashed towards the cupboard, grabbing out a container of rainbow-colored sprinkles.
Lloyd’s eyes practically glowed as he grappled for them. Jay laughed, and sprinkled a handful onto his pancakes. Lloyd chirred delightedly and hurriedly began to devour his breakfast.
“Jay, don’t give him more sugar. He’s going to be impossible when we go into the city.”
“You’re the one watching him, not me,” Jay chirped.
Kai put his head in his hands, sighing.
“It’s okay,” Zane assured him. “A little milk can go a long way to calm him down. Here Lloyd,” he pushed a sippy cup of milk towards him, “drink some of this.”
Lloyd worked on the milk as the rest of them ate, and, by the time they were all finished, he was looking a lot less feral. Zane was a lifesaver.
Nya glanced at the clock. “It’s almost time to go. We should start getting ready.”
They walked over to the closet where they kept all their gear. The large, loose sweaters allowed them a place to tuck in their tails, and, for Zane, his wings as well. As Kai helped his friend to adjust his coat to properly hide all the feathers, Nya pulled the sleeves of hers longer down her arms, hiding the light rosette spotting there. She had been able to pass it off as a tattoo before, but they really didn’t want to take any chances, especially not with Lloyd along this time.
Cole began to help Lloyd with his jacket, but the young boy swatted his hands away. “I can do it.”
“You sure, bud? It can be tricky-”
“I do it. I do the buttons.” His ears twitched as he ran his fingers over the smooth objects.
While Lloyd worked on the jacket, the rest of them shoved hats over their heads, Kai, with some difficulty, getting his over his mane, but when they turned back to Lloyd, now sporting his lopsided-buttoned jacket, there was evidently a large issue, and it wasn’t Lloyd’s button job.
“What are we going to do about his tail,” Jay asked. “The rest of us have the self control to hold ours under our coats for the time period, but he’s four, he’s not gonna be able to do that.”
“And it’s so long,” Nya pointed out. “I remember having a lot more trouble with my tail than any of you guys did, and Lloyd’s less than half my size!”
“Didn’t we used to tie it up when you were younger?” Kai asked.
“What?” “Here,” Kai pulled a scarf out of the closet. “C’mere, Lloyd.”
The child bounded over to him, and Kai picked up his tail in his hands, examining it. “Hmm. Flexible enough.” Folding it back on itself a few times, Kai used the scarf to tie it up firmly, and then pulled the coat down over it. “That should hold for quite a while.”
Lloyd bared his teeth at him, and Kai winced. “Sorry, I know it’s not the most comfortable thing, bud, but we got to do it, okay?”
Lloyd started to grab for his tail, but his small arms couldn’t reach it. Kai stopped him, nonetheless. “Hey, bud, don’t. I’m not kidding, okay?”
Lloyd huffed dramatically, before pacing towards the door.
“Aren’t you forgetting something?”
Lloyd glanced back, his eyes narrowing as he caught sight of the small hat Kai was holding in his hands. He squwaked loudly, trying to scramble past him, but Kai swooped him up in his grip. Lloyd hissed and struggled, although his body was trembling with the familiar vibrations Kai recognized as playfulness. This was a game to him.
“Lloyd,” Kai growled through gritted teeth, tightening his grip on the squirming bundle, “Just put on the hat. It’s not the end of the world.”
“No!”
Well, that was one word he knew quite clearly.
Kai jammed the hat onto his head, but Lloyd quickly shook it off and jumped away, scrambling under the couch to hide, his red eyes glowing eerily in the darkness, his pupils narrowed into thin slits.
“Lloyd,” Kai said, letting an authoritative tone slip into his voice- which wasn’t something to be messed with, when you were part lion. “This is not an option. Either you wear the hat and behave, or we don’t go out at all.”
Lloyd’s eyes blinked, and after only a second, he was scurrying back out and reluctantly letting Kai pull the hat onto his head.
And not a moment too soon- Kai’s ears twitched as he caught the sound of movement behind the big, blocked door. His head whipped towards it, and the others quickly picked up on him, revving their gazes towards the door, too. After a few moments, they began to hear it, too. Jay cocked his head anxiously, Zane adjusted his coat, Cole pushed his glasses further up his nose, and Nya narrowed her eyes, grabbing Lloyd’s hand.
The door slowly swung open- Kai had to resist the urge to dash out- and revealed four of their caretakers- Liam, Noah, Rahn, and Kelsey. Kai let out his breath, slowly.
“Are you ready to leave, children?” One of them, Liam, asked. His gaze flitted between each of them, scanning them carefully. He stopped on Lloyd, his eyes narrowing, but if he had a problem, he didn’t voice it. “You look wonderfully human. A job well done, and not an easy one, I’m sure.”
“Yes, but appearances are only the beginning,” Kelsey pointed out. “You must make sure you are all on your best behavior, especially the muta- Lloyd. You all have learned a lot from your human behavior lessons, have you not?”
They nodded, and Kai added, “Is Dr. Borg not going to see us off today?”
“He’s a very busy person, Kai,” Rahn reminded him. “You children are lucky that he makes as much time for you as he does.”
Kai dipped his head, falling silent.
“Don’t worry, he’ll probably check in with you when you’re back,” Noah assured. “For now, we can escort you. Are you ready?”
Yelps and purrs responded him, and Noah shot them a sharp glance. Kai felt his ears droop shamefully as he responded, in sync with the others, “Yes, sir.”
“Then let’s go.” Noah beckoned for Cole to follow him, who was closely followed by Jay, then Zane. Kai and Nya went last, Lloyd bounding between them. His eyes were both bright and wary.
Rahn cleared his throat as they passed, and Nya bent down to Lloyd, whispering, “Two feet, bud.”
Lloyd grumbled, but obliged, taking his hands off the ground and standing up on just his feet instead. His steps were a little wobbly, so Nya and Kai each grabbed a hand. That made him look a little less grumpy about the situation, at least.
The caretakers led them down the floors of Borg Tower, and for the first time in weeks, Kai saw people, more than just doctors and scientists and caretakers, at least. Employers at Borg, but these ones weren’t the higher up, didn’t know their secret. Wary glances were shot at them, but it was probably just because they were wondering what a bunch of kids were doing in Borg Tower, not because they were secretly a bunch of weird monster mutants that had to hide everything about them because no one trusted them and people wanted to hurt them, and they just wanted to be normal kids-
The point was, it was nice to be looked at like a kid, for once.
And then, there were windows, and then-
They were outside.
The little skylight in their room couldn’t bring justice to this. Sunlight streamed around them, bright and cheery and welcoming, and the crisp autumn air tickled his cheeks. There were people everywhere, not Borg employees, but just regular people, talking and laughing with each other. No one was staring at him, conversing in hushed whispers, or telling him off for smiling too much and showing off his fangs. There weren’t any trainers scolding him, or doctors whisking him off to yet another appointment, and most of all, there weren’t any walls.
Kai felt like he wanted to cry. It wasn’t his first time out, Dr. Borg let them out every so often, but…
It had been way too long.
Although he knew that, however bad it was for him, it was worse for Lloyd. While they got to go out every month or so, Lloyd only rarely got cleared to come with them, and he had only been allowed to at all about a year ago. Dr. Borg said it was because he was too young, although Kai swore that he could remember him and the others going out more often when they had been Lloyd’s age, with adult supervision, of course.
Sure enough, Lloyd’s eyes were as wide as saucers as he gazed around, taking everything in in that quiet, attentive way of his.
“Excited, Lloydster?” Kai asked him. “Wanna go to the mall?”
Borg had given them a fairly sizable chunk of money- after all, being the owner of the city’s largest science organization didn’t exactly leave him with empty pockets- to spend as they pleased (as long as it wasn’t anything too outrageous, and their bags and pockets were to be searched before they reentered the tower,) so they went shopping at the mall. Lloyd obviously wasn’t so enthralled with Macy’s, Barnes & Noble, or Hot Topic, so the ninja took turns with Lloyd while the others went shopping. When Kai was with him, he spent a lot of time going up and down the escalator. Kai was worried the behavior might be unusual among humans and draw attention to them, and although they got a few odd looks, after a little while a little girl named Raina started running up and down the escalator with him. Kai had frantically apologized to her mother, but she just laughed, telling him “kids will be kids!” Kai had allowed himself to give her a tentative smile, and had been reluctant when he had to leave with Lloyd. The woman, Jessica, had given Kai her number if Lloyd ever wanted to get together.
Kai didn’t have the heart to tell her it could never happen.
After they finished shopping, the group stopped for lunch in the food court, then headed to the park and chatted while Lloyd ran around.
The afternoon was peaceful and cool, and it was all too soon when he got the call telling them it was time to go back.
“Hey Lloyd, time to go, bud.”
The look that flitted across Lloyd’s face made his heart break. “Can we… can we come back tomorrow?”
“I don’t think so, bud. I’m sorry.”
“Oh.”
“We can watch a movie when we get home, bubs. You wanna do that?” There was a shake in Nya’s voice as she spoke, and he knew she hated this as much as he did.
“Can we watch… the one with dinosaurs?”
“We can watch whatever you want, bubs.”
The walk back to Borg Tower was grim and quiet. The silence was only broken when Lloyd pointed at the fountain in the town square, as they were walking past.
“Look!” he called, leaning over the side to peer in. “There’s so many shiny things in there!”
“People throw their coins in fountains,” Zane told him.
“Why? I use my coins to buy a lollipop,” Lloyd giggled.
Kai crouched down next to him. “They say that if you throw a coin in the fountain, you can make a wish.”
Lloyd’s eyes were wide. “A wish? Like what?”
“I don’t know. Anything you want, I guess.”
Nya crouched down on the other side of him, slipping a penny from out of her purse. “You want to make a wish, bean?”
“Yeah.” Lloyd took the coin and closed his eyes. He was silent for a moment, before tossing it in. They watched it sink, down, down, down, until it hit the bottom.
On the way home, Jay spoke up. “What did you wish for, bud?”
Lloyd was quiet for a moment.
“If I tell you, it won’t come true.”
---
After their caretakers looked through their bags, they brought the group up to the room. The walk was a quiet one. The unasked question in all of their minds hung on the air- they wanted to ask if Lloyd could stay the night, just this once. The boy had been eerily quiet since the fountain, not even protesting when he had been searched, and Nya was holding him gently in her arms now. He wasn’t asleep, but his eyes stared off into the distance, his mind obviously elsewhere.
Dr. Borg himself met them at their door. “My children! How was your day out? Were you on your best behaviour?”
“You already know,” Nya muttered.
Borg frowned. “What was that, dear?”
“Nothing.”
Kai cocked his head at her, and she gave a tiny shake of her head, her glare telling him, not now.
He stared her right back, the message clear. We’ll talk later.
“It was good, Dr. Borg, but we were just wondering- would it be okay if Lloyd stayed the night with us? He’s pretty tired, and it would just be for one night-”
“Zane, I’m sorry, but Lloyd has a very important doctor’s appointment tonight-”
Out of the corner of his eye, Kai caught Lloyd stiffen, gripping tighter to Nya’s shoulder. A low growl sounded in her throat, and she brought her hands up protectively around him.
“Another doctor, Borg?” Kai snapped. “That’s the third one this week. Is there something wrong with him? Something you’re not telling us?”
“Of course not! Kai, calm yourself. What reason do I have to hide Lloyd’s medical records from you? Nothing is wrong, we just want to do some more testing. As you know, we give you all frequent checkups so that our doctors may learn more about you and your bodies. Lloyd is even more unique than any of you, so unfortunately, that just means more appointments.”
“He’s not a test subject,” Nya growled, “He’s family.”
“I never said he was! He is just as much family to me as he is to you!” Borg’s voice softened. “Nya, I know you are protective, but I am doing this for Lloyd. Knowing his body better will help us to help him better in the future, if he is to ever get sick or something.”
Nya wilted. “I know. I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright. I know you mean well. Now, c’mon, Lloyd, it’s time to go.”
Lloyd wailed as Borg’s assistant tried to pull him away from Nya, and he clung to her as firmly as his fingers would allow, which, for someone of his genetics, was pretty tight. Eventually, Kai had to step in.
“Lloyd, please. Let go. We’re just trying to help you.”
Lloyd released Nya’s shoulder slowly, but his eyes were round and hurt as he gazed at Kai. He tried not to flinch. Lloyd didn’t understand that this was for his own good.
Kai didn’t really understand it, either.
The group filed into their room- the door locking with a sharp click behind them- and the others wandered off to do their own things. Jay flipped through the TV channels, not settling on anything for more than ten seconds, and Cole and Zane worked on a puzzle, although their progress was slow, and their heart didn’t seem to really be into it.
Kai, however, made no time for pointless hobbies, and headed over to Nya.
“We need to talk.”
“I agree. But not in here.” She pointed towards the bedroom door. “Let’s go somewhere more private.”
He followed her in, closing the door behind him, before heading to sit next to her on her bed. “What’s so important that the others can’t hear?”
“It’s not that they can’t hear it. It’s just… I don’t know if they’ll want to. I don’t know how everyone’s going to take it, and I think it’s best to not tell everyone all at once.”
“What?! Nya, you’re killing me, just tell me what’s going on!”
“Someone was following me.”
Kai froze. “What?”
“If I’m right, someone was following all of us.”
“You mean in the city today? Like, a stalker or someone?”
“More like a Borg employee.”
“...What?”
“They’re spying on us, Kai, don’t you see? Dr. Borg sent some of our caretakers out to monitor us today. It’s their own fault, really. If they hadn’t trained me to use my detection skills to their full potential, I never would’ve noticed them.”
“But why? What have we done to break Dr. Borg’s trust? We’ve done this before and never got caught, why would today be any different?
Nya narrowed her eyes at him. “Don’t be dense, Kai. He’s been doing it since day one. We’ve just never noticed before.”
Kai was beginning to feel very uncomfortable with the turn this conversation was taking. “How do you know that? Do you have proof?”
“Proof!” Nya stood up suddenly, her eyes blazing so fiercely that Kai flinched back. “What about any given day over the last sixteen years of my life, or the eighteen of yours! We’re prisoners here, Kai. One day a month outside of the tower doesn’t change that, especially when we’re being monitored even then.”
“Nya, don’t get like this again. Dr. Borg saved our lives-”
“From what? He tells us that people want to kill us, but do we have any reason to believe that’s true? What if he’s lying? How do you know he’s not just using us?”
“Dr. Borg is the closest thing I have to family! I trust him. With people like that, you just know.”
Nya’s ears pinned back, her voice wavering. “What happened to this family? True family is always there for you. Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd… me… we’ve all done more for you than that old fool ever has.”
Kai flinched, immediately regretting his words. “Wait, Nya, I didn’t mean- of course you’re my family, I’m sorry-” he snatched for her wrist as she began to walk away, but she easily dodged. She turned to look at him, her eyes sad.
“I know you are. You don’t want to hurt anyone- you’re just doing what you think is right, and I get that. But come talk to me again when you’re ready to reconsider.”
---
The next day, Kai had fighting training with one of his trainers. She seemed to be working him especially hard, but he only worked harder, and when he stopped for a rest, it took a moment to calm the adrenaline rippling through his veins. He had always been much stronger than the average human, but… usually it wasn’t so hard to control.
Dr. Borg showed up later in the lesson to pull him aside. “Kai. Your trainer tells me you are doing well. This pleases me. You are growing stronger.”
“I’m trying my best, sir.”
“Good. I expect nothing less. You’re eighteen now, Kai. Officially into adulthood. Soon, you will enter into a noble line of work I have to offer you. Now is no time to hold back. In fact- and keep this between you and me, if you will- I think you have the greatest potential of all your peers. What beast is greater than the lion? They don’t call it the king of the jungle for no reason. Your strength will be unmatched.”
Kai felt like he was supposed to be pleased by that, but something about the words just felt wrong.
“Sir,” he interrupted, feeling the sudden need to ask something, “What… why do I need to learn to fight like this? Who will I be fighting?” “If all goes well, no one. But this is necessary to defend yourself. Like I have told you since you were a cub, the rest of the world wants to hunt you down. You deserve a way to fight for your life and honor- and for the… weaker members of your team, don’t you?”
Kai nodded. “Of course. I was just wondering… is that all it’s for? Self-defence? Nothing more?”
Borg narrowed his eyes, but nodded slowly. “You will only have to do what must be done.”
“…Alright. Thank you, sir.” “And Kai?”
“Yes?” “If Nya’s been putting ideas in your head again, don’t listen to her. I know she means well, but she’s going through that natural ‘teenage rebellion’ stage right now, and isn’t thinking straight. Just take my word for it, alright?”
“O-okay. Have a good evening, sir.”
“Train hard!”
As Kai trodded back to the room that evening, he couldn’t stop thinking about what Borg had said. His words had been so vague. And he had been so quick to accuse Nya! Did he mean what he said, or was Nya right?
Did Borg want to use him for something more?
He still didn’t know what to believe, but one thing he knew was that he didn’t like the way that his sister had immediately been blamed. She had always been the most reluctant to listen to Borg, the most upset about their situation, but he wasn’t going to let Borg do anything to her, if that’s where this was heading.
His thoughts were interrupted as the floor suddenly heaved beneath him, and Kai was knocked to his feet. He barely bit back a scream, his breath coming in shallow pants.
What was it? An earthquake? He had never felt an earthquake before. Oh gosh. Should he be doing something? Was he going to die?!
But as quickly as it happened, it was over, and Kai got to his feet, breathless. After he was sure the floor wasn’t going to collapse beneath him, he set off towards the room in a dead sprint.
“Guys,” he gasped, “Did you feel that?”
Jay glanced up from his phone. “Like, that weird tremor thing, you mean?”
“Tremor? It was way worse than a tremor, the ground, like, bounced beneath me!” He gave a demonstration of this with his hands, but the others just blinked at him, unimpressed. “What?”
Cole shrugged. “I dunno, maybe you were just closer to the source or something. It didn’t seem that bad to us.”
“Do earthquakes even have sources?”
“First of all,” Zane said, “they do, and second, Ninjago City doesn’t get earthquakes. The geographic location makes it literally impossible.”
“But you can’t tell me that was nothing.” His voice wavered, and he caught Nya frown.
“You serious about this, bro?”
“I dunno, it’s just…” he put his head in his hands. “I don’t know what happened. It frickin’ scared me.”
Nya rested a hand on his shoulder, at his side now. “Hey, everything’s okay now. You’re safe here.”
“I know.”
“Do you want me to call Borg? I’m sure he can tell us what’s going on.”
“Thanks.”
Nya dialed, and they waited for Borg to answer. He didn’t pick up until the last ring, which was unusual for him. When his voice did come through, it was harried and distracted.
“What is it, Nya?”
“Dr. Borg, Kai was just coming back from training and he felt this weird… earthquake-type-tremor thing. We were just worried. Is everything alright?”
“Oh? Ah, yes, don’t worry, you’re perfectly safe-'' there was some muffled yelling in the background, and the phone went quiet for a minute. “There’s nothing to worry about, we’ve got it under control-”
“But what was it?”
“We’re… uh, still investigating. Maybe some sort of malfunction in the machinery, or radiation leak or something.”
“Radiation?”
“I assure you dear, it’s fine, we’ve got a whole crew on top of it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m kind of in the middle of something-”
“What about Lloyd?” Kai asked, leaning over to speak into the phone. “Is he okay?”
“Lloyd… Lloyd’s fine.”
“Can we see him?”
“No,” Borg said quickly. “...he’s seeing people right now. Will be for a while, probably, so don’t even ask.”
By this time, the others had joined them at the phone too, and they all looked at each other at that. “Seeing people?” Nya asked. “What kind of people?”
“Just… double-checking his safety. For… the radiation.”
“Was he close to it?” Nya gasped. “I thought you said he was safe!”
“He is! It’s just a precaution-”
“Then when can we see him?”
“Nya, I told you, not now!” Another muffled shout interrupted him. “I have a lot bigger fish to fry right now, this conversation will have to continue later.” And, with that, he abruptly hung up.
“What was that,” Nya spat.
“If that was your attempt to make me feel better, it failed miserably.”
“I didn’t know he was going to be like that, did I? Ugh, Borg always is so vague, but this- this is a whole new level!”
“We need to find out more,” Zane said. “Borg isn’t giving us clear answers. We need another way to find out information.”
“Luckily for us,” Cole added, “It seems that in all the commotion, they never sent a caretaker down to lock the door after Kai returned.”
The others froze, staring at each other. Slowly, they turned their gazes to the door.
Cole was right. It was still open.
Kai immediately felt his heart begin to race. He didn’t know how to react. This had never happened before.
Zane was the first to snap out of the shock and into action. “Borg is a careful man. It won’t be long before he realizes we have free reign of the place. If we’re going to do something, we need to act quickly.”
“I say we escape,” Nya hissed. “This might never happen again. Kai’s the only one who knows this, but I saw Borg employees following us yesterday. He’s always watching. This could be our only chance to get out of here!”
There were a few uneasy looks at that. “Nya,” Zane warned, “Borg may be secretive, but he’s not a bad person. He’s protecting us.”
“Yeah, and what about the police?” Jay whimpered, his tail between his legs. “Borg told us they would kill us just for being different.”
Nya’s tail lashed. “You all are hopeless! The old fool’s got you all wrapped around his little finger! Can’t you see we’re prisoners here? I’d rather take my chances with the police.”
“Nya,” Cole said firmly, squeezing Jay’s hand, “You’re making Jay nervous.”
“I’m sorry, Jay, but it’s the truth. You’re seventeen now, it’s about time you start hearing it.”
Jay’s ears quivered. “It’s okay, Cole, she’s right.”
Cole grunted. “If we’re doing this, I won’t let no police lay a finger on you.”
“So you’ll do it?”
“I dunno. I’ve never really felt comfortable with Borg. But we’re also safe here. I want to protect you guys. I don’t know if freedom is worth the risk.”
“Well, we don’t have time to think about it. Zane’s right- if we have to act, we act now. I’m going- come or don’t.”
“Nya, come back,” Cole growled. “We’re a family. Whatever we do, we do together. I don’t want us splitting up.”
“Then do the right thing and come with me.”
The tension crackled between the two for a moment, until Cole ducked his head. “Nya-”
“Kai, you’ll come with me, won’t you?”
Four pairs of eyes turned towards him. Kai’s tail twitched, and he tried desperately to still it.
“I… I don’t know what I want to do, Nya. But I’m not leaving without Lloyd.”
Guilt flashed in her eyes. “I… I didn’t mean… of course I would never leave without him, I just didn’t even think… we can go get him, right?”
“Do you know where he is?”
Nya’s tail drooped. “Then what do we do?”
“Zane’s right- what we need is more information. Running away isn’t the answer.”
“Kai- can you just think about it-”
“I’ve been thinking about it,” he roared. “I’ve spent eighteen long years locked away in this room- don’t you think I want to leave, too? But this is about more than just me- this is about us. I have a family to protect, Nya, and this is the best way to keep them safe.”
Nya cringed back from him- something any sane person would do when a lion- or a half lion- was yelling in your face. He didn’t like to use it on his family often, but when he did, it was the quickest way to silence a room. Everyone knew you didn’t mess with a lion’s roar.
“So what are you going to do instead?” Jay asked quietly, after a moment.
“I’m going to go find Borg and listen in on what he’s doing.” Turning to his sister, he added, “Nya? Will you come with me? Your stealth will be useful.”
“You still want me?”
“Don’t be like that, Nya- I’m just doing what’s best for us. You get that, don’t you?”
“I guess.”
“So you’re not coming?”
“No, I’ll come. I’m just still upset with you, that’s all.”
Kai sighed as she whisked out the door past him. “You guys keep a lookout, alright? I’ll have my phone on silent so we don’t get caught, but I’ll be able to feel it vibrate, so shoot me a text if something happens, alright?”
“Good luck,” Zane nodded.
“Hurry back!” Jay called as Kai slipped into the hallway.
He bounded a little ways to catch up with Nya. They walked in silence for a little while until they made it back to Kai’s training room, where he had felt the tremor.
“Smell anything?” Nya asked.
“Jay’s the best tracker, but I think I can pick up Borg’s scent coming from that way.” He pointed a finger down the right hallway.
“Think?” “I don’t know. There’s a lot of foot traffic coming from that way as well.”
“Surely that’s a good sign. If there was some sort of catastrophe, a lot of people would have gone to help.”
“Yeah, but it’s strange. It mostly smells like caretakers and trainers. I would’ve thought Borg would’ve wanted more mechanics and doctors if there was a malfunction.”
“Unless he was trying to keep this a secret.”
Kai shot her a look, and she ducked his gaze. “Sorry.”
Kai shook his head, turning back towards the trail, letting Nya slink down the hallways ahead of him, checking that the coast was clear before he followed. He pointed her in the directions that the scent led, until, at last, it led to a door.
“Borg’s office?” Nya questioned. “His scent will be here all the time. Are you sure that he’s here now, or is it just leftover residue?”
Kai opened his mouth to respond, but froze when he caught the sound of footsteps. “Hide!” he hissed to Nya, and the two of them dove into an empty lab room and pulled the door shut, just as two pairs of footsteps rounded the corner. They came to a halt outside the office door, and Kai held his breath.
“What do you mean you can’t control him, that’s your job!” Borg’s voice, sharp and angry. The rooms in this part of the building were soundproofed, but Kai’s hearing could still detect their voices when he pushed his ear to the door. Nya hovered beside him anxiously, watching his face for signs.
“Sir, we’re doing everything we can, but we’ve never worked with a specimen like this before.”
“Borg,” he whispered to Nya, “and a researcher.”
“Tell me you at least have him contained?”
“He’s chained and isolated right now, sir. And under guard.”
“Did you tell him that we’d punish the others if he stepped out of line?”
“Yes, sir. He’s young, and seems to have some literacy issues, so we’re not sure if he got the entire message, but we believe we got the basic point across.”
“Good,” Borg sighed. “Hopefully that will be enough to stop him from trying anything like this again.”
“Sir, surely you’re not just going to let him stay. People could’ve died today!”
“Do you think I don’t know that?” Borg snapped. “Seven of my best researchers have been hospitalized, and now the damn police are on our back and I could get sued. I could lose millions, you know that? And to make things worse, the kids called me and are trying to see him. They suspect something’s wrong.”
Kai’s blood was roaring in his ears. Was he hearing this right?
Nya put a hand on his shoulder. “What’s wrong? What did they say?”
He shook his head, gesturing at her to be quiet. “They think Lloyd was the one responsible for the accident. People were hurt. Borg might get sued.”
“Would it really be such a bad thing to let him see them, sir? He obviously is very on edge about the testing and sampling. Seeing the others might put him at ease.”
“They’re already suspicious, and I can’t help but feel I’m losing my grip on them. They’re teenagers, I knew they’d rebel at some point, but… I don’t want to risk him telling them anything. Now that he has power over us, I’m not sure what good the threats will do.”
“Then what are we going to do?”
Borg sighed, slow and tired. “I had hoped it would never come to this, but… I think we bit off more than we could chew with this one. And he’s only four, it will only get worse as he ages. I don’t think we will ever be able to put a handle on him. I had hope, after such great success with the others, but… it just didn’t work out. Breeding oni and dragon and trying to contain it was always going to be a bad idea.”
“Are you sure, sir? There’s no going back if you decide to go through with it.”
“I’ve thought about it for a while now, and today’s accident has only solidified my suspicions. We will still be fine. The others have amazing amounts of strength, speed, stealth, and heightened senses. We can be well-equipped without him.”
“Alright. We will begin making preparations first thing, sir.”
“Make sure you keep the body so we can continue to study it. I want him euthanized first thing in the morning. The longer we wait, the more of a window we give him to act up again.”
No. No, no, no, no, no. Kai squeezed his eyes shut, slumping against the door as the door to Borg’s office was clicked shut. This couldn’t be happening, it was just some sort of sick dream, Borg would never do this-
“Kai, Kai please, answer me!”
He opened his eyes to see Nya shaking him gently.
“You were right,” he croaked, “we have to go.”
“Kai, what’s wrong, what did you hear, you’re scaring me.”
Kai stumbled to his feet, and Nya grabbed his arm as he trembled. There was no time to sit around and mope. Lloyd’s life was on the line.
“Nya, we have to go-” he reached for the doorknob and began to twist it.
“Wait, are you sure they’re gone, we can’t get caught-”
“I’m sure, we have to hurry-”
Nya skidded in front of him. “Kai, tell me what’s going on. I need to know what happend. I can help!”
“There’s no time, Nya,” he gasped, half in tears by this point. “I’ll tell you later. I’m going after Lloyd. You go and get the others. Meet me near that little diner at the edge of the city. The one we went to for your birthday last year, you know the one? We’re leaving. Now.”
“Wait, you mean you changed your mind?”
“No. I told you that I was going to do whatever it took to keep you guys safe. Before, that meant staying here. Now, it means leaving. It is the circumstance that has changed, not me.”
Nya gazed at him, tears glazing her eyes. “I wish you would tell me more.”
“I still need time to process. I’m sorry.”
“I get it. Just stay safe, okay?” She kissed him softly on the cheek, and then, she was gone.
Kai didn’t waste any time, and set right off on the researcher’s trail. Eventually, it led him to a small, closed off wing, where she had then taken a right, but Kai was more interested in the room on the left.
Two guards, armed with guns, stood attentive at it. Kai shifted into a lion, and, trying to remember stalking lessons from Nya, crept along the hallway. If they spotted him before he was within pouncing distance, he was done for. They wouldn’t hesitate with the guns, he was sure.
Luckily, Nya was an amazing teacher, and as one guard fell to the ground with a smack, the other one turned sharply, raising his gun, but Kai was already pouncing, knocking him out.
Shifting back into himself, he grabbed the keys from the guard’s pocket, and unlocked the door.
Inside, the lights were dim. Kai wished he had Nya’s night vision right about now.
When his eyes finally adjusted, Kai choked back a gasp. Lloyd was lying on the floor, chains bolted around his wrists, ankles, and tail. Metal clamps pulled back his wings, and a muzzle had been tied over his mouth.
“Oh my gosh, Lloyd-” Kai dropped to his side, trying not to look at the boy’s face. Blinking back tears- emotion was something they didn’t have time for right now- Kai ripped through the chains and pulled off the muzzle and clamps. Lloyd whimpered, looking up at him with watery red eyes, and reached for him, cooing softly. Kai scooped the boy into his arms, accidentally pulling back his shirt as he did so, and revealing a long, raw, red scar along his side. Kai quickly pulled the shirt back down, looking away, and planted a kiss on his forehead. Bolting to his feet, he took off down the hall, towards the back door.
After only a minute of running, an alarm began to flash, and Kai swore under his breath, praying that the others were already out.
After what felt like far too long, he spotted the door. As he sprinted for it, he heard someone yell out behind him, but it was too late. He was already out the door.
He didn’t stop though. He wasn’t stupid enough to think they would give up chase so easily. Heading down some of the back alleys, he ran in a crisscross of crazy patterns, taking a way which was five times longer and more complicated than necessary, but he wasn’t risking the chance of being caught, or worse, leading the Borg employees back to Nya and the others.
When he began to feel a little safer, he stopped for a rest behind a dumpster. Setting Lloyd down, he checked his phone and saw he had twenty-seven missed calls from Borg.
Shoot, he can probably track this. Cursing under his breath, he tossed the phone in the dumpster. He didn’t like being phoneless, but it was a thousand times better than the alternative.
Lloyd’s stomach growled loudly, and Kai glanced down at him. The boy looked smaller than ever, his red eyes wide and scared. Kai crouched down, pulling his trembling form close, and the two just sat there for a moment, silent. Kai breathed in Lloyd’s comforting scent.
I almost lost this. Forever.
Kai wiped at his eyes. But he hadn’t. And they weren’t safe yet. They had to keep moving, and get as far away from that phone as possible.
But first, he had to find the poor kid something to eat. He looked half-dead on his feet, and Kai felt a surge of anger as he realized that Borg probably hadn’t been feeding him well.
Jumping into the dumpster, Kai scrounged around until he was able to find half of a cheeseburger and a stale bag of pretzels. Not the most sanitary, but it would have to do.
“Here, bud, you want these?” He handed the food to Lloyd, and either the boy was really, really hungry, or his animal instincts were just kicking in, because he scarfed down the food without any reservation about the fact that Kai had literally dumpster dove for it.
As Lloyd finished the food, licking the wrapper, he spoke for the first time since Kai had found him chained up that evening.
“Am I in trouble?” His voice wavered, tears pricking his eyes. “Did I do a bad thing?”
“Honey, no, it’s not your fault,” Kai whispered, pulling him close. “You didn’t mean to do it. Your powers are too strong for your own good. But you’ll learn to control them eventually, I promise.”
“People are hurt,” he whispered. “I’m the reason we had to go.”
“You just opened my eyes to what Borg was doing to you. To his true intentions. Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
Lloyd looked at him. “He told me he would kill you.”
Kai bit his lip, and Lloyd broke down crying in his lap. Kai curled his arms protectively around him.
“I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry I let you go through that all these years and didn’t notice something was wrong.”
Lloyd buried his face in Kai’s shirt. “I just want to be normal.”
---
Lloyd fell asleep soon after that, and Kai carried him towards the meeting place. The walk was long, about two hours, but with every moment that passed, Kai was more and more grateful that he had picked somewhere far away. He was exhausted, and if Borg’s associates found him now, he was in no position to fight back.
It felt like heaven when he finally spotted the little diner in the distance, with its gleaming lights offering a cheery glow to the foreboding dusk. Reluctantly shaking Lloyd awake, he took off his hat and coat and helped Lloyd put them on to carefully mask his monster features. Since Kai hadn’t had time to grab extra, he fluffed up his hair extra (something he hadn’t ever thought he’d do, it was fluffy enough as-is) to cover his ears, and tucked his tail into his pants.
The little bell on the diner door rang cheerily as they pushed their way in. At this time of night, the diner was empty, as expected- but there was one booth in the corner where four people were sitting, eating what looked to be pancakes and bacon. They looked up sharply as the bell rung, and Nya stood up abruptly, meeting his eye.
“Kai,” she cried, running over to him as tears sprung in her eyes. “Oh my goodness, oh my spots, oh my goodness.” She threw her arms around his neck, crying into his shoulder as he squeezed her just as tightly back. “You’re alive, thank the stars you’re alive, I thought I had lost you for good.”
“I’m just as relieved to see you guys,” Kai breathed, walking over to the booth. Although it was only intended to seat four, his friends squished over to make room for him, and he scooped Lloyd onto his lap.
“Kai, what took you so long, you had me worried out of my mind,” Nya muttered, stopping to take a breath and sip from her coffee. “Don’t ever scare me like that again.”
“Sorry, we got a little held up. We got caught escaping, and were followed. I spent a good hour, at least, trying to throw them. I wasn’t going to risk leading them anywhere.”
“You could’ve at least texted me, letting me know you were alright. Why didn’t you answer any of my calls?”
“I ditched my phone. Speaking of which, you guys probably should too. I wouldn’t be surprised if Borg had a way to track these things.”
“Get rid of our phones?” Jay whimpered. “How are we going to communicate if there’s an emergency?”
“Would you rather us get caught?” Kai snapped. “We can just buy some of those burner phones from the store.”
“Kai, I think you owe us an explanation,” Cole growled. “We’re tired, hungry, scared, and don’t know why we’re here. Nya told us you overheard Borg saying something, but wouldn’t tell her what he said, and just said to run. Are you going to give us any more than that?”
“I’m sorry, but I was just so scared, and there was no time…” He took a shaky breath, drawing an arm around Lloyd and pulling him closer. In a whisper, he admitted, “Borg was going to kill Lloyd.”
The table lapsed into a stunned silence. Even Nya, who had always been heavily critical and suspicious of Borg, looked shocked and horrified.
“When?” Zane asked faintly.
“Tomorrow morning.”
Cole paled about ten shades, Jay looked like he was going to faint, and Zane just stared as if he didn’t believe what he was hearing.
“One more day,” Nya whispered. “One more day and we would’ve lost him.”
“Don’t remind me,” Kai told her, his breath hitching as he tried to focus on the weight on his lap- warm, gentle, and alive. He was here. He had saved him.
“I don’t understand,” Jay whined. “Why would he do such a thing? I mean, I know we all had our suspicions, but… kill him? Really? What changed?”
“Remember all those ‘doctor’s visits?’ Apparently they’re some sort of testing, or sampling, or something. Show them the scar, Lloyd.”
The boy looked up at him hesitantly, before slowly pulling up his jacket and shirt to reveal the long scar Kai had seen earlier. Four sharp intakes of breath sounded as it came into view.
“Oh, Lloyd, honey,” Nya whispered.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what they were doing at our doctor’s appointments, too, but for some reason they are really obsessed with Lloyd. Something about his lineage, I guess… but it was too much for him. He…”
Kai glanced at Lloyd, who was nibbling at the bacon Cole had slipped him. He didn’t seem too invested in the conversation, but he still kept his voice low.
“That tremor we felt? Apparently, Lloyd caused it. People were injured, and… the police came to investigate… Borg was furious. He decided Lloyd had caused more trouble than he was worth. Lloyd was chained and muzzled when I found him, and I… I couldn’t… I wouldn’t deny it any longer. Borg doesn’t care about us. He never has. He’s just using us.”
Silence gripped the table as his friends stared at him. Jay wiped at his eyes, which were bright and wet.
“What do we do now, Kai?” Nya asked, her voice barely audible.
“What do we do? We survive. You got some money, I hope?”
“We’ve been stashing it. Any time Borg gave us money on an outing that we didn’t use, we kept it. We brought everything we could find. And a few valuable items as well. We can sell them if we need to. Hopefully this will last us a while, if we stick to the necessities.”
“Good. Because we’re going to need every penny we can get. I have no idea how long we’ll have to be out here.”
“As long as Borg is hunting us, nowhere is safe,” Cole warned. “He’s got amasses of people at his disposal. I don’t know where we’re going to go that he can’t reach.”
“I know a place.”
---
“Are w-we al-almost there, K-k-kai,” Nya hissed, her teeth chattering. “I’m freezing.”
“We’re here.”
Jay stopped beside him. “An old warehouse?” “Hey, I remember this place,” Cole said, stepping up beside him. Lloyd was fast asleep in his arms- he had been out cold before they had even left the diner, and when Kai had tried to carry him, Cole had told him off, saying he had already done more than his fair share for the night, and that he ought to give someone else a turn before he keeled over from exhaustion. Kai was grateful for the gesture, although they still had needed to walk another hour to get to his destination.
“When we were younger, Cole and I used to take a bus down here sometimes on our days out to play around in this abandoned warehouse.” Jay raised his eyebrow, and Cole laughed. “When you’re a twelve year old boy, those kinds of things sound a lot cooler than they actually are. Still, I’m grateful you thought of it now. Who would’ve thought, when everyone else failed us, it’s the old warehouse that held through.”
“It’s nothing special,” Kai said as they tramped inside, “but it’s sheltered, it’s sturdy, and, most important of all, it’s unsuspecting. I doubt Borg would ever think to look here.”
“It’s perfect, Kai,” Nya sniffed, “Thank you.”
“I don’t know why you’re thanking me,” Kai sighed, lowering himself onto the ground and wincing at the ache in his back. “I was the one who kept trying to convince you that the child-murdering psychopath actually cared about us.”
“It’s not your fault, Kai. Borg tricked all of us. If it weren’t for your jump into action, we’d have lost our baby brother.”
“I just can’t stop thinking,” he whimpered, squeezing Nya’s hand tighter, and watching Lloyd from where Cole cradled him across the room, stroking him gently, “what would have happened if I hadn’t gotten there in time, or if I had decided to stay back in our room.”
“You can’t spend time dwelling on the past, Kai. You didn’t do those things, and everything worked out- well, as best as we could ask for, at least. You have to have more faith in yourself. We’re scared and confused, and we’re looking to you. I know that’s not fair, that you’re struggling just as much as any of us, but it’s the way things are. We need someone strong, like you, to keep us going.”
“I want to protect you guys, and keep you safe, more than anything else in the world. But I’m lost. I don’t know what to do, and I can’t do this alone.”
“Oh, Kai. No one would ever ask you to do anything alone. Whatever happens next, we’re all right here.”

17 chosen and 20 lunar for Indruck, nsfw, please!
Here you go!
Lieutenants Log, stardate 10015, Joseph Stern recording
We’ve finally arrived at an agreement with the Aquariads, the species who control this moon. They will allow our research team unfettered access to the planet, but at an odd price. They requested one of our crew agree to be married off to a high ranking member of their governing council.
I suspect, but cannot prove, that this is not a desirable being to be married to. He’s a revered seer, and yet they’re willing to couple him to a human and not one of their own? Suspicious.
Myself and the other single members of the crew were all given extensive questionnaires on everything from our sexual preferences to our daily habits. It took me a good hour and a half to finish it.
After a full earth day of waiting, we received word that chief astrobotanist Duck Newton was the chosen human. I have no idea how this happened, as Duck has little tolerance for what he views as “woo-woo” things like precognition. But he was chosen all the same.
Because this is Duck, he grumbled a bit, but cheered up when he learned he would only be required to stay with his new husband for three weeks before joining us on our field word, and that we can send him specimens for identification and research. If we decide Aquaria is the planet we’ve been looking for and establish more permanent research stations here, Duck will be expected to spend at least a few days a month with the seer. Mama made it clear that if the idea was truly not something he could agree to, she would call the deal off and we could try another approach. Duck said that wouldn’t be necessary, and that he could think of far worse things they could have asked of us.
We deposit him at the seers home tomorrow. After that, we begin our exploration of Aquaria, fourth moon of the plant Oceana and (hopefully) the home of the antidote we’ve been searching for.
Joseph Stern, Lieutenant on the spaceship Amnesty, signing off.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Duck waves to the skiff as it pulls away, his planetside bag slung over his shoulder. There’s only one way to go; down the single stone levee, decorated with beautiful tiles, to the massive mansion at the end.
It reminds him of the photos of Venice he’s seen in old National Geographics, beautiful buildings floating atop a planet of water. He knows Aquaria has islands, but the majority of it’s cities are on or near the water because most of its residents live beneath the waves. They remind Duck of mermaids, with scaled tails and fins giving way to humanoid upper bodies and faces. As far as creatures to get politically married off to, he could be staring down worse.
There’s still the problem of not knowing why this mer is off by himself and without a partner. Or, as becomes obvious once Duck is inside, any company at all. The other high-ranking aquariads they’ve met come with miles of attendants; here there’s only the high, curved ceilings and rippling water. Maybe the guy is shy? Or maybe he’s a dick? Or just real fucking scary to look at?
As he walks further into the house, he notices the tiled walls are covered in striking murals that, when coupled with the odd half-light allowed in by the green glass windows, makes him feel as though he’s wandering through a dream. The pools and canals criss-cross the floor, and really the ground is more water than concrete, the fact he’s able to walk at all is a concession to the fact some aquariads evolved to be land dwelling.
A splash makes him turn, and in the pool to his right a black fin cuts the water. He steels himself to not insult the alien he’s now legally attached to. The figure rises from the water, setting his arms on the edge of the stony floor and Duck steps back as a wide, toothy smile appears in an angular face.
“Hello, Duck Newton.” His tail is the same black as his fin, and his silver hair is tucked behind ears of the same color, which Duck has learned can fan out as a way of communicating.
“Uh, hi. You must be-”
“Indrid Cold, yes. Apologies, a peril of my profession is that I will always be a little bit ahead.”
“Right. So, uh, guess we’re gonna be seein a lot of each other the next couple of weeks.” He aims for a joking, nonchalant tone.
“Yes, as we’re married.” He cocks his head, confused, then grins brighter, “Oh, oh I see, you are attempting levity because this is all very awkward. I, ah, I appreciate that. Here, let me show you where you’ll be staying” Indrid pushes off the wall, swimming gracefully on his back as Duck follows him down the hall. The center of the house has more skylights, allowing him to see that his host’s fins aren’t pure black; small silver and white dots are scattered across it. He wonders if he could find constellations in them.
“Here we are.” Indrid gestures to a room, one where the only water is in the form of two deep blue half-circles on the left and right walls. The center of the room is a large bed, linens gleaming whites and pale greens, and the skylight nestles against a chandelier of finely detailed rosey glass.
“Holy shit.” Duck sets his bag down on a trunk near the door.
“Do you like it?” A flash of yellow up Indrid’s fin, echoed in the dots on his tail.
“I mean, anythin looks ritzy after months on a spaceship but” he turns, smiles, “yeah, I do. Thanks for giving me such nice digs.”
“You are most welcome. Now, this room is designed to give guests privacy. See that red panel on the wall? If you press it, it opens the pool on that side up to the rest of the house, allowing myself or servants to come in and help you.”
“So you do have staff.”
“They’re, ah, more like errand folk. None live here.” Indrid clears his throat, “I can show you the rest of the house, although if you need to sleep I can let you be. I am, ah, not entirely clear on where your internal clock sits now.”
“Aquaria’s days are about four days longer than earth’s, so I ain’t too thrown off. Happy to see more of the place.”
Indrid nods, and Duck follows him out of the bedroom. Most of the other rooms they pass are sparse squares of walkways and still water, under which lies the parts of the house Indrid uses. When they reach Indrid’s quarters, he spots what looks to be an artists’ studio under the clear blue water.
“You paint?” He kneels and peers down for a better look, Indrid bobbing nearby.
“Indeed. Art helps me make sense of my visions, and I enjoy it besides. In fact, all the murals you see in this house are my doing. There are even more under water.”
“Damn, that’s fuckin incredible. If I get my SCUBA gear rigged up, maybe I can get a tour?”
“Scu--oh, yes, an underwater breathing apparatus. We have a much smaller device that can help you breathe and sea down here” he dips his head at the pool, “unfortunately, the one I commissioned for you will not arrive until close to the end of your stay. They, ah, did not give me much time to prepare. Hence the lack of many comforts I might otherwise give, as well as places for you to and I to talk, eat or do, ah, other activities together.” The yellow intermittently flashing up his fin gives way to a burst of pink.
Oh, right. Duck pulls up his infopad (given a generous waterproofing treatment prior to his leaving Amnesty) and opens the contract he signed.
“Yeah. About that. Says here they expect us to, uh, ‘consummate’ the marriage.”
“I’m aware” Indrid’s voice creeps up.
“Do you...wanna do that now?” He spins a finger in the water.
“I, ah, I beg your pardon?”
“I mean, seems like we could just get it outta the way, rather than have the fact we gotta fuck someone we didn’t pick hangin over our heads?”
“This...this is not at all how I wanted this to go.”
Duck looks up and immediately wishes he could reverse time; Indrid looks genuinely hurt, ears flicked back like a scolded dog.
“Duck I, ah, well, you did not choose me, that is true. But I chose you.”
“Well, fuck.” He sits down with a heavy sigh, “figured some big wigs used those surveys to pick me out. Guess what they say about assumin things is true.”
“.....”
“It makes an ass outta you and me?”
Indrid blinks, then snickers, “Your humor is part of why I chose you. It is very bad, but also extremely good.”
“Glad you think so. Pretty sure Mama was ready to blow me out the airlock for some of the ones I made on the way here.” He knows he’s dodging the conversation they should be having, but how the fuck is he supposed to respond when an alien mermaid tells him he picked him to be his husband?
Indrid swims over so he can rest his arms and chin on the stone, glancing shyly up at Duck as he says, “I suppose I also made an ass of myself, as you would say, by assuming you would not see this as an obligation.”
“I mean, even if you chose me, don’t this feel like an obligation to you?”
“No. For me, it is a reminder that most of my kind are too afraid of me to even give me a chance to court them. And that the council thinks I will get into too much trouble without someone to distract me now and then, and decides the company I am worthy of is an alien explorer with no interest in me.”
“I mean, the only reason we agreed to this is because there might be a plant on Aquaria that can treat the illness runnin rampant back home. So at least it’s for a good cause?”
Indrid flicks his ears, red running up his fin, “What you are doing is noble. What I am doing is being used as a way to keep your exploration team in line.”
Duck winces, “Fuck, I’m, uh, I’m just gonna stop talkin now.”
For an agonizing five minutes they sit there in silence, contemplating their situation and stealing glances at each other. Duck always tried to do the right thing, tried to live an honest life and treat the people in it with respect. He’s been kind and polite to beings up and down the galaxy. He can extend some of that to his own husband, can’t he?
“Indrid?”
The alien raises his head.
“Can we start over?”
“Yes. But I do not see how-”
Duck holds out his hand, “Name’s Duck. Thanks for invitin me in and lookin after me the few weeks.”
Indrid’s smile widens as he understands the game, and he takes the human’s hand, “A pleasure to meet you. I am Indrid, seer to the court of Aquaria, and your anxious husband in spite of the now-changing, much more pleasant futures.”
They finish their tour, the humid air less stifling in the wake of their confessions. Indrid shows him the kitchen, the sitting room, and the gardens which, to Duck’s delight, are as much above the water as below.
After that, Indrid excuses himself to attend to seer duties and Duck goes back to his room to unpack. As he’s putting away his toothbrush and razor near a large, elaborate tub carved from golden stone, one of Indrid’s admissions from earlier floats through his mind, bobbing there like a buoy until he gets a chance to ask it.
When they’re in the gardens, Duck taking notes as Indrid dives and surfaces with new things to show him, the human slips his feet into the water and says, “Indrid? You said my offerin to fuck you wasn’t what you wanted. What, uh, what did you want?”
The alien blinks, slowly, pink and teal flashing in his tail, “It is a bit silly in retrospect, but since I knew we would not have time for a proper human marriage courtship, I thought I could mimic the process leading to a one night stand; that way you would be romanced in a manner that made you both comfortable with me and the concept of sex with a relative stranger.”
Duck chuckles, “Always wild to find out how human stuff gets interpreted by the rest of the galaxy. How’d you even come up with what you were gonna do?”
Indrid crosses his arms, mock affronted, “I will have you know I have seen a great deal of human media, courtesy of our minister of defense.”
“Oh yeah?” Duck shifts onto his stomach, sends a small splash Indrid’s way, “what was this night gonna involve, then?”
“Food, dim and therefore, apparently, romantic lighting, dancing to sensual music, and then hopefully some kissing.” The pink in his tail intensifies, “and then working out exactly how to have sex human.”
The mixture of enthusiasm and being utterly out of his element charms Duck to no end; not to mention it’s the most thought someone’s put into a hook-up with him in the last three years.
“Seems to me you got the gist of it. Though I really wanna know what you picked out for ‘sensual music.’”
A playful glint enters Indrid’s glowing eyes, “I will show you, but we must go through the whole evening, otherwise it will seem like a disjointed choice. With, ah, with the understanding that you are not obligated to kiss me at the end.
“You got a deal.”
“Wonderful” Indrid claps his hands together, “wait right here.”
Indrid disappears in a whoosh of black and silver. When he returns, he hoists six opaque domes onto the floor in front of Duck, “I initially planned to eat in the sitting room, but you like this room much better, so we can have dinner here.” With that, he double-taps the top of each dome, revealing a confusing buffet.
“Uh, are those french fries?”
“Yes. You are from the United States of America, and so I chose foods that would make you feel at home.” Indrid points to each plate in turn, “french fries, steak, a turkey with cranberries, lobster, macaroni with cheese, and an apple pie.”
The pie is covered with an odd, yellow meringue, the turkey is the size of a quail, and the black shell suggests this is not a kind of lobster he’s eaten before, but Duck can’t stop smiling.
“Also I took care to be sure none of the necessary substitutions were poisonous to you.”
“Thanks, Indrid.” He means it; in their travels they’ve learned it’s not only humans who think everyone lives and eats exactly the way they do.
Everything except the french fries tastes strange but he finds the meal, like it’s orchestrator, intriguing in it’s oddity. Indrid brings two cool, white bottles from below, offers Duck tastes of each. One is like the celery soda he drank on a dare, the other like root beer if it wasn’t gross. He keeps the second one next to him as the meal progresses, Indrid asking him all kinds of questions about botany and himself. When dinner is over, Indrid guides him two rooms over, grinning excitedly.
“I will start the music; one moment.”
A few seconds after he dives, a chrome cylinder descends from the ceiling and music fills the air.
Ninety-nine red balloons
Floating in the summer sky
Panic bells, it's red alert!
There's something here from somewhere else!
He giggles, sits down so it’s easier to call, “Indrid? Not sure you got the right song bud.”
A silver-haired head pops up, “Not romantic?”
“Nope.”
“Hmmmm” He lifts a small, white rectangle and the song changes.
He was a famous trumpet man from out Chicago way
He had a boogie style that no one else could play
He was the top man at his craft
But then his number came up and he was gone with the draft
He's in the army now, a blowin' reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
“N-not quite” The laugh is stronger now.
“Drat. How about….”
I threw a wish in the well, don't ask me, I'll never tell
I looked to you as it fell and now you're in my way
Indrid looks hopefully at him.
“Ain’t what I’d call sensual, but you’d hear it at the kind of place you’d pick up a date.”
The alien beams, starts shifting back and forth to the beat, “shall we dance?”
Duck blushes, pretends he doesn’t know why, “Uh, probably should have said this earlier, but I ain’t much of a dancer.”
Indrid swims to him, stopping close enough that Duck can see the lines on his face that reveal they’re close in age, “That’s alright. Sometimes conversing while having a drink is acceptable behavior, correct?”
“Yeah.” Duck doesn’t bother to hide how intently he’s watching as Indrid dives, his form elegant and ethereal beneath the water.
They sit sipping a hard cider that tastes of papaya and flowers instead of apples until the three other moons glow bright in the skylight. Duck yawns, and excuses himself for the night.
“Thanks for a great evenin, Indrid.”
“You are most welcome. A pity I could not make the music work.”
He’s here for another three weeks at least. And Indrid is floating through the darkening water like a dream he’s tempted to chase.
“Guess you’ll just have to try again.” Duck winks.
Indrid’s ears frill slightly and he flashes bright purple, “Yes, my dear husband, I suppose I will.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Duck’s routine is not the one he usually has while docked on a planet. Every day for the last week, he wakes up, joins Indrid for a leisurely swim, works on his research, and then spends his evening with a weirdly cute alien trying to accurately recreate the earth dating experience for him.
The second night, he asked if Indrid would bring him some of his favorites for their next meal. The steamed coconut crab was a hit. The mantis-squid served still swimming, less so. From then on, when Indrid put in his food orders to the cooks at the main court, it was for a mixture of earth and Aquariad dishes, each one leading him or Indrid to share an anecdote from their time on their home planet.
For the last two nights, he’s lifted the partitions on the pools in his room so Indrid can talk with him until neither of them can keep their eyes open. He wonders if it would be rude to ask him to stay, to sleep in such a small space just so he could be the first thing Duck sees when he wakes up.
There must be floating beds he could put in Indrid’s room, or maybe a hammock he could hang in the garden.
Duck now understands that Indrid’s powers make him politically valuable, but also mean his fellow residents of the lunar city see him as dangerous, as knowing things they’d rather keep secret. Duck understands, especially if their only time encountering the seer is when he glides his formidable, dark body from the depths of his inner sanctum. But all he can see is his Indrid, awkward and well-meaning, whose fear of Duck disliking him has given way to genuine affection. His Indrid, who now pulls himself up onto the stones so they can sit shoulder to shoulder after breakfast or before dinner, whose tail Duck’s fingers beg to caress.
His Indrid who is, at this moment, continuing his losing battle with earth music.
“How about this?”
Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen
Thank you for all the joy and pain
“Oh fuck no” Duck guffaws, “anything but him, ‘Drid, he’s a boner killer if there ever was one.”
“I don’t think he’s that bad,  but I will be speaking to Vincent about his human music suggestions.”
“For the love of god, turn it off.” Duck flails for the remote.
Indrid sticks out his tongue, “Very well, but I am this close to pulling you down here and seeing if you can do any better.”
“You wouldn’t dare” Duck is still laughing, eyes closing as he does, which means he gets only a splash of warning before he’s yanked into the pool. He comes up giggling and spluttering, “now, is that any way to treat your husband?”
Indrid’s laugh is a siren song, “No, I suppose not.” The music clicks off as Indrid steadies him by curving his tail behind his legs, “how should I treat you instead?”
Duck drapes his arms over Indrid’s shoulders, “You been treatin me pretty damn well, dunkin me aside.”
A flicker of pink and yellow as Indrid rubs their cheeks together, “And if I wanted to be even better?”
“I, uh, I mean if you wanted to we could tryYYYYohfuck” he hunches forward as Indrid’s tail drags across his dick. The clothing on Aquaria is thin, so he can feel the cool scales tease his skin.
“Oh, oh dear, apologies, I was only trying to embrace you further, I forgot yours do not stay concealed until they’re needed.”
“You, you keep doin that and it’s gonna be needed real quick.”
“Oh?” red eyes narrow wickedly, “does my sweet husband need attending to?” Another drag of his tail, much more deliberate, and Duck grinds his hips in reply.
“Only if you want to.”
“I do, so very badly.” Indrid nuzzles his nose, “may I take a little while to acquaint myself with your wonderful body?”
“Uh huh.” Duck tugs his shirt off, throwing it onto the land and then giving his shorts the same treatment.
“Ohhhhhhyes.” Indrid purrs, fins and tails shimmering purple and gold. Then he sinks down, swimming in a slow, tight circle around the human. Pleased chirps and trills bubble up to Duck’s ears. Cool fingers play along his legs and belly, eventually finding his dick and offering an experimental stroke.
“Fuck” he groans, and Indrid does it again, kissing his navel as both hands rub and tease his dick and folds. Indrid is clearly experimenting, maybe even using his visions to guide him, and Duck eagerness to get off succumbs to just how fucking hot it is to have a partner this enrapt by his body, to have them explore it like some awe-inspiring landscape.
He spreads his hands out and runs them along Indrid’s torso and tail; the scales are just as wonderful under his fingers as he hoped, and he can feel Indrid sigh happily as he pets him.
Then lips close around his dick and he makes a series of undignified noises, digging one hand into Indrid’s hair to encourage him.
“Ohmyfuckinchrist, Indrid, yes, fuck please keep suckin like that.”
Indrid wiggles his whole body in response, happy trill underscored by a firmer suck. Duck can’t get enough of his body beneath his hands, of his mouth on Duck’s skin, and he wonders if someone can black out from how good a blowjob feels.
Indrid’s fin breaks the water and Duck runs an appreciative thumb along the top. Funny, there’s a little depression between it and the membrane of the fin. Curious, he drags his pinky along it.
The alien bursts upwards with a loud chirp of joy, “Ohgoodness, yes, oh that feels nice please do it again.”
“Yeah? My cute, needy husband need me to play with his fins to get off.”
“Not, not technically by my gods does he want you to.”
“Don’t worry darlin, I will--uh, ‘Drid? Is, is that your dick?”
Indrid follows his gaze to the thick, bumpy shaft emerging from his tail, it’s tip crowned with short, searching tendrils.
“Yes. Also an ovipositor, hence those lumps.”
“Holyfuck. Uh, I, I ain’t sure I’m ready for that yet.”
“That’s perfectly alright. Though it does mean my cock is not going into you tonight; I’m not sure I can control my bodily responses enough to avoid ovipositing accidentally.”
“Lots of others things we can do.” Duck bites the tip of one ear, making the other flare out.
“Indeed. I say we start with this.” Indrid’s tail encircles his waist just as Indrid shoves his cock between his thighs.
“Like, like the way you think sugar. Fuuuck, fuck that’s good.” The bumps from the eggs have just the right amount of give as he humps them, Indrid matching his tempo with his thrusts. He keeps his arms around his husbands neck, kissing him furiously. Indrid kisses back with a chirp, gold flashing in his scales, and Duck knows he won’t want to kiss anyone else for a long, long time.
The tip of Indrid’s cock bumps his ass and he groans at what that suggests about it’s size.
“I’m, I’m takin this fuckin perfect thing all the way before I go.” He bucks his hips harder to make his point, “gonna let you fuck me open on it, fill me up, wanna know what it’s like to cum with you inside me.”
“Oh gods” Indrid whimpers, hiding his face in Ducks neck as he squeezes his thighs together.
“And, and you’re gonna be a dutiful fuckin husband and fill me however I say, ain’t you?”
“Yes, yesofcourse, goodness Duck I, I’m-”
“Heh, you like that, mr high and mighty seer likes bein bossed around. Well, lucky you, because now that I know just how fuckin good you are at fuckin me, gonna have you doin it ever, fuckin, day.” He jerks his hips hard, three times, and Indric cums with a cry, cock pulsing as he sinks his teeth into Ducks shoulder. Duck doesn’t let up, chases his orgasm over the bumps and ridges until he nearly whites out with pleasure, clinging to Indrid tighter as his body gives up on supporting him.
After his cock retracts Indrid, still holding Duck up with ease, swims to the button that orders a cleaning cycle on the pool and deposits the human back on the stone.
“I dearly hope your team finds what you need on this planet so that I may see you beyond these few weeks.”
“Sex was that good?” Duck teases, petting Indrid’s hair as he lays his head in his lap.
“No. Or, well, yes, but more than that you are so, so very wonderful. I wish to get to know you more, to show you even more of my world and my skill in bed.”
Duck kisses the top of his head, “I hope so too.”

Ch.10 Creepypasta x Fem! Reader
Before even realising, the week had ended once more, perpetuating the endless cycle experienced day after day. Though not as severe as the previous, it was still very tiring in its own way. As the first day passed, Ben wanted to perceive her potential, making her brew something after every lesson and making sure the notes taken were comprehensive and correct. But what he failed to inform her was that the slightest miscalculation could end up in an explosion. The combining of two opposing substances ended up in a chain reaction that gave the girl burns and potential scars, their severity somewhat dulled by the elixir Ben would create after, but still very painful.
That week was strange, as Ben was inept at any social interaction. Struggling with reading the room and understanding others thoughts and feelings. Though he hated silence and many-a-time attempted to end it with a random ramble about a certain topic that would last hours at a time, tiering the poor girl forced to listen. His tendency for not understanding physical boundaries had begun to become a problem too, invading the girl's personal space at very unwanted times and always flashing that creepy smile whenever he saw her, making her tense up.
Though the perpetual cycle had begun to have a toll on her. Her body was on autopilot most of the day. Walking around and doing the same things as a robot. And the last day of the week hadn't been any different. She'd fallen asleep the previous night at exactly ten pm after launch and woke up the morning at around five-fifty six am, before her alarm. Getting up taking a shower, bandaging her wounds, getting dressed, and heading towards the stairs for a nutritious breakfast before she'd have to meet the new person sent there to train her. Toby had presumed.
Right as she was about to take her first step down the narrow wooden staircase she stopped in her tracks, looking back towards her bedroom door. Stepping back she walked towards it and walked in, looking around quickly before spotting the thing she was looking for. The necklace Ben gave her, she took it off the previous night and forgot to put it on. Quickly snatching it and clasping it around her neck and putting it under her jumpsuit she hurriedly ran downstairs, not wanting to be off schedule. She wasn't sure why she'd gone back to grab it, but something was telling her that it was special.
Looking at the clock she sighed, twenty minutes left before her training starts. Her thoughts were in shambles as she imagined what the new man was going to be like. A sadistic narcissist like Jack? An aggressive control freak like Masky? Or maybe, a blabbering creep like Ben? She wasn't ready to find out. But it was inevitable, no matter how much she wished she could leave, to get an end to this madness. But she didn't have to wonder for long as she heard light footsteps on the hard floor approaching her. Usually, she wouldn't have noticed something as minute as that but recently her senses have heightened significantly with the constant rushes of adrenaline her body had been going through to stay alive.
Gazing in its direction she finally saw the man, he looked to be around twenties years of age. He was of average height, around five-foot-seven or about hundred-and-seventy-three meters, a bit bigger than Ben. His mouth, covered with a black striped mask and a pair of orange-tinted goggles over his eyes. Bushy dark brown hair peeking out from the blue hood of his stained zip-up. The only feature visible was his pale almost grey skin that seemed cold as ice. Below the waist, he had two old hatchets harnessed on either side of his long baggy jeans, with his gloved hands firmly gripping both whiles staring at the girl. As he stood he would occasionally jerk or twitch to the side without warning. She gazed at him, confused by the sudden motions of his body.
Suddenly the man coughed, grabbing her attention and snapping her out of the daze that she was in. Shaking her head and apologizing immediately. He approached, now right in front of her.
" He-llo. I'm To-toby."
He stuttered as he stretched out his right hand at her. Swiftly grabbing his hand to shake it. The leather that collided with her skin was worn out and patchy.
" Hi." She retorted, trying to pull her hand away but he would let do. She could feel his flesh twitch underneath his thick glove. " So when are we going to begin training?"
She awkwardly addressed trying to soften the ever-growing tension. The man only nodded his head and softly huffed, finally letting go.
Glancing behind her shoulder, staring at the back door with a blank stare he pushed her aside and walked towards it. She was perplexed by him, not expecting such an act as a frown formed on her face. 'Who does he think he is? He didn't even answer my question. Jerk.' She thought, her eyebrows scrunching in irritation while going back to making herself breakfast.
"I'll wait for you to fin-finish outside. Be quic-k."
He said quietly as he stepped outside.
Sighing dramatically she began to eat, starting at the clock on the wall, counting down the seconds with dread. Eating had become a choir, her mouth always feeling dry. The food itself was bland too, devoid of odour and taste made the texture unbearable at times. But she didn't have much of a choice. It sometimes felt like eating sandpaper but she couldn't complain as it would only stir up a problem. Most of the food was meant to strengthen her body and make her more durable. Forcing down the last bite she got up but the dishes in the sink and went towards the back door with a black expression on her face.
Opening it up it made a loud creak, annoying the girl as she slammed it behind her, searching for the googled man. She assumed that he was in the armoured area of the forest. Remembering passing it while doing Maskys test, grumbling at the memory. Picking up her speed and running towards it she got there in about ten minutes. Abruptly stopping when she saw the back of his head, a sense of accomplishment washing over her when she realised that her judgment was right. As she was about to inform him of her arrival he swiftly turned around. His orange stained goggles reflect the sun's rays making them shine.
" Si-since you arrived, w-we should begin." He softly said as he reached for his hatchet and pointed to the middle of the small clearing. It was perfect for close-range combat, especially if what they were using were close-range weapons. It was specifically designed for the people training in them to be wary of their surroundings and to focus their movements. Small bumps and rocks were scattered to make it more of a challenge. Battered practise dummies were also present on the sides, some had throwing stars and objects logged on their body. A small shed was tucked in between two trees, made to store some of the weapons they practise with.
As he stood in the middle Toby walked up to the shed, shoving his hand in his pocket searching for something, suddenly pulling out a set of rusty keys and looking for the one that matched the shed's lock. Going inside he searched for something, the girl wasn't sure what as she wasn't able to even see him. After a minute, he finally walked out holding something in his hand. Approaching her he extended his gloved hand letting her see it, a small hunting knife. The blade sharpened to perfection as the thick mettle it was made out of shine in the light, encased in a large worn wooden handle, finger-like dents could be seen from previous use.
Taking it in her hands it fits almost perfectly, holding firmly she studied the mettle further. Just like Maskys pocket watch, there was a crossed-out circle on it; her face was now showed intrigue by the particular design.
" The b-blade you're hol-ding in your hand is o-one of the most impor-tant things you need to sur-survive. Not only is it used fo-for self-defence it's also used for ever-everyday tasks. For ex-example, cutting down vines and or carving th-ings into wooden sur-surfaces."
As he spoke he would occasionally twitch and jerk but he didn't seem distracted by it, already used to the constant random unwanted motions his body made.
The girl nodded her head, thoroughly listening to his every word said, she'd come to terms that if she expected to escape she had to use everything that they thought her to good use. Toby had started to show her different techniques of cutting and use of the knife, explaining the proper stance and movements. But the girl seemed to struggle, shuffling her feet trying to get the stance right. Toby rolled his eyes and went behind her, starting to fix her mistakes and instructing her while doing so. The girl could faintly feel his uneven breaths on her neck. He was noticeably rough with the way he grabbed her hands, fixing them in place. When he was satisfied he let go and went to the side to watch her work.
The silver blade shined as the light hit its clear surface, the girl quickly jabbing and slashing the tree she was told to work on, creating noticeable scratches as she did. At first, her movements were quite slow and sloppy, not being able to get the hang of the small weapon, but eventually, she got the hang of it, quickly gliding around the tree with pretty much no effort and slashing it with remarkable precision. Toby watched her every step, pleased by her sudden improvement.
"I th-think that should b-be enough." He said loudly, disturbing the girl from her trance. Making her quickly straighten up and look at him.
" I-i think yo-you learned the bas-basic, now le-lets see how you will do it hand-to-hand."
The girl nodded, approaching him without saying a word, blade in hand ready to use. Toby also didn't bother to say a word, only pulling out one of his hatchets and getting into a fighting stance, she quickly followed. Neither of them tried to attack at first, only scanning their opponent, anticipating their every move. A cold sweat started to form on the girl's back as panic slowly arose in her mind, the tension was unbearable, and she feared that it showed on her face, but even still she had to muster up the courage and finally strike first.
She leapt at the googled boy, attempting to slash him with her blade but he avoided it in the nick of time. He was quick to react as he soon tried to sweep her off her feet but she blocked his blow and sprang a bit away creating a small distance. He was the one to attack next, facking a strike with his hatchet to her head, quickly using his other hand to punch her in the jaw, making her stumble and slip. Going to her lever and attempting to strike her again, she was quick to block, using all the possible strength she had in her arms to protect herself. She managed to somehow push him off as she quickly tried to get up, but made one fatal mistake by averting her gaze from his, giving him the Milly-second of a chance to slash her upper thigh.
Screaming in agony she fell to her knees, quickly feeling her weight turned on her back and crashed on the ground, the impact causing the necklace around her neck to come out from the jumpsuit, catching Toby's attention. The bottle shined in the light and wasn't hard to spot, he approached her aching for, carefully kneeling to her lever. Her face was in a mix of emotions, ready to defend herself again at any moment, but as he extended his gloved hands what she didn't expect was for him to reach for the necklace.
He held the small thing in his hands, twisting it around to get a better look at what was contained inside of it.
"A-a protection ch-charm." He murmured, but the girl still managed to somewhat hear it.
Her face showed a mixture of confusion and distress. Moments ago he was trying to slice her throat and how she was softly gripping her necklace, not saying another word.
They stayed in that position for a few minutes, the tension in the air occasionally being broken by the googled man ticks.
" Did Ben gi-give you this?" He asked sternly, twisting the tiny bottle between his thumb and pointer finger as he held it in front of her face.
" Yeah" She only said, averting from his gaze. He scoffed harshly letting go of it and firmly standing up, taking a few steps away from her.
Shooting pain ran up her leg to her back as she tried to stand, quickly holding the wound on the back of her thigh, adding as much pressure as she could so the blood would stop pouring out. Toby did say a word only looking in her direction. The girl's thoughts were racing, anger and fear swirling all in the bat of rage. She has enough of this, recollecting her strength slowly she took a long breath in, subtly looking in her peripherals to spot where Toby was standing. And the moment she felt the adrenaline kick in like all those times before she leapt.
The pain didn't concern her anymore; she only wanted him to feel the same she felt. Tackling his feet, he let out a low yelp as he fell on his lower back, she then quickly acted by pulling out the second hatched holstered to his person and putting it to his neck. Heavy jagged breaths escaped her chapped lips as she stared at him with a wide eyes gaze, sweat coming out of every pour.
Shaking uncontrollably while firmly holding the hatchet to his neck. She whispered, "I win."

smut. 18+. I’m planning to leave you all hot an wanting so beware.  This takes place after @dreamwritesimagines‘ last (i think) chapter of Beautiful & Damned, which you can find on her blog, her masterlist, etc.
thanks to @riviawitch3r for proofing and not virtually punching me when my writing was.. meh. thanks, man, appreciate it.
Tumblr media
His hands on her were warm, even with the leather gloves on. She could still feel it seep into her skin, could feel how it affected her. Goosebumps broke out shivers wracking through her body obvious even to someone without the heightened senses of a Witcher. She grimaced at her body's reaction, wished she could have hidden it better, but Geralt didn’t comment.
Instead he backed away, cleared his throat.
“You can get up now, Princess.” He stood, packed away the vial. “I’ll ride out tomorrow to find that wretched witch, put an end to this. She’ll have to explain those signs to me.”
She got up, wrapped her arms around herself in an attempt to appear less inappropriate. Then, a thought occurred to her, and she turned toward the man. “Geralt, if the mark’s purpose is to protect me from humans, shouldn’t I be able to touch animals?”
He stopped in his tracks, looked up at her. “Perhaps. But I’d rather not have you walk around and test that theory. “
Those words hit her harder than she liked, the implications behind them were a punch to the gut. “Right. Wouldn’t want the monster to kill any more beings.”
As soon as his brain registered the words, he dropped his satchel and briskly walked over. “Shut up.”
She recoiled, but he cupped her face in the most gentle manner, and tilted her face up.
“Look at me.”
Oh, she did. She couldn’t not.
“You are not a monster. I don’t want you to have another death on your hands, because I think it will break your beautiful heart, princess.”
His eyes lingered on her face, taking in the color of her eyes, the shape of her eyebrows, the swoop of her nose and her lips. Fuck, her lips. Plush, inviting, wet from the way she nervously liked them.
He found it impossible to look away. Absolutely impossible.
“Geralt.”
She watched him watch her, took in the way he tensed, how his massive figure hunched over slightly, and how his nostrils flared, before his eyes were set ablaze.
Maybe people could look at others with desire in their eyes. Maybe Fin was right after all. It made her feel naked, bare. Her temperature rose, her heart sped up, she felt powerful; In a weird way. To think that she could have such an effect on a man like the witcher? On a man who was dangerous, hard to manipulate or influence, experienced and – to be wholly honest – downright hot?
He was a tall glass of water on a stifling summer day.
Geralt shifted, one of his hands changing position, fingers sliding along her cheek to the back of her head, into her hair. She could feel his fingers flexing, pressing harder, letting go, as if he was fighting himself.
And he was. He shouldn’t, he really shouldn’t. They both knew he couldn’t touch her. But hell and every monster in it, did he want to. To kiss those lips, feel her skin under his fingers… It was ripping him apart, it was burning him from the inside out, the need an all-consuming fire in his chest. Her scent was pulling him closer, taunting him, making him imagine how much better she’d smell if it was his own that clung to her.
He groaned, ducked his head. “I wish I didn’t need gloves.”
Her eyes went round, her pretty mouth parted in a surprised gasp. “What?”
A smile stretched his lips, but it looked almost animalistic, like a wolf preying on a deer. Never had it felt so good to be prey, she thought. The hair on her arms stood, shivers rolled down her back, her focus solely on his hands on her.
And then his voice, rough and smokey, but gentle, like thunder and honey mixed into a glass.
“I wish I knew the touch of your hands. I wish I knew the feel of your skin. I bet it’s soft.”
He filled all of her view, all muscle and temptation rolled into a delicious package of billowing linen and a dashing, clean cut black and silver brocade doublet. Whoever picked it for him deserved an award.
He filled all her senses, her lungs filled with his scent; leather, herbs, warm earth like the forest on a warm autumn afternoon, and underlying sweat. It was mouth watering and comforting, and it made her want to find out what he tasted like.
“Geralt-“, she swallowed, tried to focus. “Were you serious? About your heart?”
“Yes.”
One hand left her face, arm wrapped around her waist to pull her closer. She was so fragile in his arms, so pure against his bloodied self.
“And I want to heal yours.”
She snorted at that, very unladylike, and reached to grab his hand, mindful of his thin shirt. “No need to, Geralt. It wasn’t broken. It just wasn’t with me anymore.”
She was an open book he wanted to spend the rest of his life reading; studying her every pore, every curve of her body, every thought of her mind. He wanted to caress her, like the soft pages of a well read book, take care of her and keep her safe from wilting and the burn of betrayal. Her face was so open, so vulnerable, it felt like the softest touch of a lover’s hand as she took in every detail of his face, while she waited for his reaction when she added the words that would inevitably lead to their downfall.
“It was with you the whole time.”
And then it was as if a dam had broken. His grip on her tightened immediately, his face fell. He groaned, closed his eyes and tried to stomp down on the urge to just fucking ravish her on the spot. “You can’t just fucking say something like that. Not when I’m not able to touch you like I want, princess. Like you deserve to.”
There was so much fondness and restraint in his voice, her knees grew weak. Geralt pushed back hair that fell into her eyes, tucking it back behind her ear. “I’m not good with being teased, princess.”
How was that little head tilt so adorable? He wasn’t supposed to be adorable, what the hell.
Especially not when he was using that voice like he did. “Even my patience has its limits.”
A thumb traced her lower lip, his eyes burning a path into them.
“Where’s the handkerchief? The silk one?”
She turned her head and nodded towards her vanity. “Over there.”
He let go of her, but his eyes never left her. She was nailed to the spot, unable to move, unable to look away from his stare; didn’t want to.She wanted him to look at her forever, never let go of her, never let her out of his sight, not when it meant to be close to him, so beloved by him, to be safe and protected. He gave her a little nudge, a sharp nod in the vanity’s direction made her move. Who could ever refuse to obey Geralt?
So she did, and almost stumbled over her own feet in her haste. She caught herself though and pretended nothing happened, which made Geralt shake his head with such a soft look in his eyes, it was confusing.
For someone who wasn’t supposed to have feelings, he let her see quite a lot of what he felt. The moment she was within arms reach, he grabbed her and pulled her against him, hand finding her hair again and pulling carefully, gently; getting her head where he wanted it.
The anticipation was so thick, he could taste it. It laid on his taste buds like some of the more potent spices he’d tasted on his journeys, rounded off with the sweet taste of her hopefulness. “Do it again. Let me erase that foul memory, replace it with a new one.”
His face was so close, so. close. “Let me right my wrongs.”
The princess cursed under her breath. So fucking smooth, so obviously adept at sweet-talking the ladies, she couldn’t believe she had fallen for him.
But then she was reminded of his behaviour around her, his kindness, his love for a child that wasn’t even his own. How he loved Jaskier as well, even if he refused to admit it, and she realized she never even had a chance. He was everything she would ever want in a man. He would be the only one she’d ever accept at her side, if she ever got rid of this curse.
She held up the handkerchief, and Geralt didn't waste even a fraction of a second. He seized her around the waist, held her head in place and pressed his lips to hers, the thin fabric the only barrier between life and sure death.
He straightened, lifted his princess off her feet, her front flat against his. She gasped against his lips, and not only because of the sudden change in position, but also because she could feel exactly how much she affected him. It was impossible to miss. It was...sizeable. The Effect.
Hot want flooded her, a sudden wave of sheer, carnal lust. Nothing was more desirable than to have him naked in her bed, have her way with him, make him show her how to handle him, to make him feel good and loved and cherished. The assault of emotions left her breathless.
Geralt grunted against her lips, as the spike in her scent hit him. His body reacted instantly, and his hips bucked against her, just one sharp thrust before he got himself under control. Fuck, was she trying to kill him?
“You know-“ another peck to his lips, kerchief safe between them. “- there’s a silk sheet on my bed.”
Her purposefully innocent tone did nothing to soften this blow.
“Princess-“
His brain was more than eager to deliver visions of what could be, and he grew ever harder, painfully so. He needed to get either out of this situation, or out of these breeches. He’d prefer the later, but there was also a not inconsiderable risk. “Your mother will kill me.”
She loved how pained his voice was, how obvious the struggle with himself was, with his righteousness and the need to protect her. But she wanted this, and if he was willing, nothing would be able to make her regret this. She was done trying to deny herself. And so was Geralt.
“I’d like to see her try.”
She bit her lip, lowered the handkerchief. “If you’re willing to risk it, I won’t regret anything. Not when it involves you.”
Fucking- yes. Fuck yes. He’d make her happy, and if it meant to break his own heart, so be it. Witchers didn’t feel anyway, right?
He shifted, bit at her lip, before rearranging his hands on her, made her wrap her legs around his waist, and walked them over to her bed.
“I am able to walk, you know?”, she chuckled, but didn’t make any attempts to escape his hold.
“Don’t deny me this, princess.” He hitched her a bit higher, pressed a kiss to her covered shoulder. “I have to watch you all day, every day, unable to touch or even talk to you like I want to. Please, don’t deny me this.”
Her heart squeezed, and so did her legs around his waist. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
The air left him in a heavy sigh when he sat her down on her mattress. “Undress.”
Her room wasn’t particularly cold, but she was so hot, the air felt cooler than it was. Her nipples pebbled, sensitive to the contrast and the thin nightdress she wore hid nothing at all. His eyes fell to her chest, heaving as she swallowed down any doubts – was he expecting her to be experienced? Did he think she was even worth it? Would he drop her afterwards? –, and he licked his lips. She looked like a present, a sweet surprise wrapped into a fabric so soft and light, it covered her every curve like water, silky and shimmering and hiding nothing.
“You will have to reserve your first night after the curse is lifted for yourself.”
“What do you mean?”
His knees knocked against hers as he bent down, his hands to either side of her and his face close enough to make her fear accidental touch. “Because I will spend all night doing what I can’t right now. I will make you come on my tongue until you have screamed yourself sore, my princess.”
There had to be a wet spot now, good fuck.
Her lungs refused to work, her breathing grew laboured and irregular.
He straightened and started unbuttoning his doublet. When she didn’t move, he nodded at her, his chin stuck out. “I said undress, princess.”
She took a deep breath, the air filling her lungs, providing enough oxygen to clear her head just a bit. “But, Geralt. You wear more layers than me. Don’t you think that’s unfair? Not to mention, what little I am wearing isn’t even closed properly.”
His hands stilled halfway down the line of buttons, his eyes tightened to slits, his nostrils flared and his chest expanded as he took a deep breath. When he let out the previously taken breath, he opened his mouth and licked his lips; then he smiled. “You think? Well, I’ll go first then.”
Doublet about halfway open, his linen underneath not hiding all that much either, he looked like any other noble out there, but with a much better personality. He let his hands fall to his sides, his fingertips skimmed along the waistband of his pants. “I can smell you, princess. I know that you’re practically leaking.”
His hand cupped his groin, a breathy groan and a chuckle fell from his lips. “I know how desperate you are for my touch. How wet you are.”
A forceful stroke up and down, then he went back to the buttons of his doublet. His voice had dropped a couple octaves; it was so heavy in bass, she could feel it vibrate through her chest and down to the apex of her thighs. “And it’s all for me. All mine."
His pupils were blown, the gold of his irises almost gone. He looked like he was about to pounce at her and oh, did she want him to.
The look on his face was a mix of want and awe, desire and adoration; the amount of trust he showed her was breathtaking. It was exhilarating, freeing, terrific. She could be herself with him, and he still wanted her. Wanted her even with her overbearing parents breathing down his back, with her lethal touch, her duties and responsibilities. He still wanted her, still was naked with her. Which- why?
What was in it for him? Why didn’t he just go and fuck someone else in her stead, to get it out of his system, like he had done before?
“Princess.” He had come over, his knees between her legs. He towered over her, bent down to cup her face and get her attention. “Don’t leave me.”
She watched his face, looked for hints of malice or dishonesty, but- all she found was… she couldn’t articulate it. But it made her chest burn, her heart throb and her hips shift, seeking friction, a smidge of relief.
It was all too slow. It took too long. She got up, pulled her legs up onto the bed and knelt, and slapped his hands away. It would be faster if she undid the buttons herself, she was sure. But Geralt didn’t let her. He caught her wrists, quiet chuckle on his lips. “You need gloves.”
Right.
“Your thinnest pair, where is it?”
She nodded towards the small table by the fireplace. Her thinnest pair was next to her stitching work. She used them when Ciri was visiting and wanted her help with her drawings, or when the needle started to hurt her fingers; there was little loss of feeling. She watched him walk over, became aware just how big he was, how out of place he should be - but he wasn’t. He looked right here, in her room, with his clothes in disarray and his hair falling down to his shoulders, with the way he strode through her room, so at ease and comfortable. She swallowed, pushed down the nasty doubts. They had no place here. This was for her and for him, and no one or nothing else.
When he came back, his whole figure radiated confidence, strength, hunger. “Put these on. And then I want you out of that dress.”
He tugged at the thin fabric, eyes hungry on her. “I want to see all of you.”
His voice. Never had she heard any man sound that wrecked talking to her, not for the same reasons anyway. He had her weak in the knees, but she obeyed, eager to please him, and get pleasured herself.
She reached up to open the one button that held her dress together, when her eyes fell on Geralt. He was delicious. The doublet was gone, the shirt’s laces were undone and presented his chest like an artist’s best work. She wanted her hands and lips all over him, she couldn’t wait for this curse to be gone.
He got rid of the rest of his layers, peeled his breeches down those powerful, toned legs. With every inch of skin freed, her mouth grew drier, until she felt short of dehydrated. He was a whole lot of man. Her ogling didn’t seem to bother him one bit.
“You are ridiculous.”
“Excuse me?”
“I’ve never seen anyone like you, you are a mountain of a man. And I can’t wait to be buried under you.”
He choked at her sudden boldness. She watched his abs contract, his shoulders shake. She grew a bit lightheaded at the thought of being with him. He recovered rather quickly though and decided enough was enough.
“Your turn.”
“But I want to look a bit longer.”
Geralt was watching her like a hawk, eyes boring into her, stripping her of every layer of pretence she’d ever pulled on. He stripped her bare, with just a look. She froze, like a rabbit in front of a snake, her body shaking in anticipation. It only got worse when he closed the distance between them.
“I am stripped bare, and you’re still in your nightgown. Who’s unfair now?”
Geralt growled, and bit her shoulder, only to pull away with her dress caught in his teeth. He tugged, and when it didn’t give anymore, he released it, took a couple steps back and crossed his impressive arms in front of his wide chest.
“Now, princess.”
She reached up to undo the one button at her nape, the one that had kept it from slipping off her shoulders. The fabric pooled around her on the bed, still covering her lap, keeping her from his sight. He raised a single eyebrow, and she quickly bunched the fabric in her hands to pull it over her head.
She hadn’t even let go of it, but his hands were already on her; covering her ribcage, thumbs stroking the underside of her breasts, fingers pressing into her skin.
“So soft. I bet you bruise quickly.”
Oh fuck.
He hummed in the back of his throat and stroked down her sides, hands curled around her hips now. “So perfect for me, look at you.”
She could feel his eyes on her, tracing every inch of skin, every hair standing on edge.
“Lie back.”
She turned, crawled further down the bed to drop onto the sheets, but Geralt behind her was groaning, loudly, and suddenly his hands were on her ass. “Ah, fuck.”
He gave her a good squeeze, watched her cunt flutter and weight press back into his hands. “Mhhm.”
One finger went rogue and dipped between her glistening lips, up and down and up again, and then trailing a circle around her clit. “Is that for me? Are you that wet for me?”
She’d dropped to her elbows, back arched and her forehead buried in the crook of her elbow. She nodded anyway, she knew he’d see.
“Fuck, I want to taste you so bad, princess.”
She was blushing, her cunt clenching at his words, and Geralt had to use all of his strength to not just pounce and take her. “No need to be shy. I’m here for you, and only you.”
His finger came back around, circled around her entrance. “They’d have to kill me, if they ever want me to leave you.”
At that she looked up. “Oh, my mother- fuck, Geralt. She’ll try, you know-” his finger pushed at her entrance, just the slightest bit and she broke off into a low moan, sentence completely forgotten.
“Mhm. Let her.”
His finger left her, and he gently pushed at her hip. “On your back.” She flopped down and over, none of her usual grace evident. She was a mess, and they hadn’t even started. Geralt threw the sheet over her, watched it slowly settle onto her, hiding her body, but also accentuating it. It was similar to her nightgown, but so much better. She drove him wild, absolutely animalistic. He crawled over her, lowered himself between her legs, hip to hip, core against wanting core. She let out a deep, satisfied sigh and pressed up, up, up against him. He loved her responsiveness, loved that she showed what she wanted, no fear, no distrust. He bowed his head, watched where he rubbed against her, only kept from skin by the thin piece of fabric. He was mesmerized by the sight, his dick against the bright silk, her dampness soaking through, giving him a sample of what’s to come, of what he was missing. Her gloved hands reached out to him, cupped his face, thumbs stroked over his cheekbones, a sweet smile on her face. Geralt watched her, catalogued every reaction, every little change on her beautiful face, how she pressed against him, how her hips moved with his, how her hands fluttered as she let them slide down his neck to his shoulders. She was a shining beacon of hope and love and everything he never thought he could have, and it hurt to look at her, but he had to; to remember her, to recall her face when he was alone and cold, without her touch, without her soft words in his ears, without her pulse drumming with abandon. How did he deserve this? He never left more than blood and gore in his wake, never gave more than he had to, never did anything just because. She was so good, so much better than him, so pure. She deserved someone who could love her with all his heart, and give her all she wanted and and could ever wish for. He wasn’t able to do that, he knew it, he- “Hey,” her fingers found his face once again. Her voice was soft, breathy, angelic. “Don’t leave me here like this, Geralt.” His heart clenched in his chest. Of course she knew. He smiled softly, couldn’t believe she let him close enough to even touch her, but this. “Forgive me.” He moved again, let his cock slide along her core, tease her through the sheet. She keened, raised her arms above her head and held onto the pillow, in an effort to reduce the risk of accidental touching. The change in position stretched her body, raised her breasts against the silk, pulling in his attention. “Oh, princess.” It wasn’t more than a low growl, a very soft one, but by the heavens. It made her wetter, her juices gushing out of her like she’d never experienced before. The growl grew louder, deeper, rumbled through his chest. His head lowered, his hands slid along her ribcage, around, under her to meet at her back and raise her torso towards his mouth. The sheet was now pulled taut around her, her nipples presented like fruits on a silver platter, ripe and hard, calling to him like wrapped candy. She sighed his name, when his lips found her right breast, closed around her nipple, rolled it between his teeth, carefully, teasingly. “Ah, shit-” then a soft moan when he flatted his tongue against the bud, gave a broad lick before giving her left breast the same attentions. She was going to ascend to heaven, how could she not with how heavenly this felt? His hips against hers, his cock hot and heavy at the apex of her thighs, the soaked silk a rather nice touch to it, providing another layer of friction; she needed more. Her toes prickled, her stomach tightened, and she bucked up against Geralt, who let out a breathless laugh, surprised by her sudden, well, rebellion. “Shh, princess.” He sat back up, reached for her as he went away. “Come here.” He laid back against her bed’s headboard, in all his naked glory, strong and taunt muscle, sparse hair and those seductive golden eyes locked onto her. It was as if they were connected by a string of yarn, where he went, she followed. He bunched the sheet in his hand, pulled. She watched his bicep bunch, his strong fingers bury into the fabric and she wished to be the one touched like that, with his fingers buried in her, stroking her to completion. But Geralt had other plans. He spread it over his lap, made sure they were safe. “I want you on top.” “What?” She sat there, legs crossed and her hands on her thighs. He’d interrupted her in the process of closing in on him, but his words froze her right where she was. His cock twitched, tented the silk. She looked amazing like that. Disheveled, needy, flushed, her hair a birds nest, falling around her in a fuzzy halo; he never wanted to look away. He wanted this sight to be burned into his retina forever, to never see anything else the moment he closed his eyes, to dream of nothing else than her body and her smile and her laugh and her eyes. He patted his thigh, smirked when she scrambled to close the distance between them, almost falling on her face. “You stole my grace, Geralt.”, she pouted, when she settled upon him, astride his lap. “You stole it all.” He groaned at her weight on his cock, her center pressed right onto it, wonderful friction, wonderful dampness. His hands came up to grip her thighs, smooth up and down her legs, and then curl around her hips. “Ah, fuck.” His mouth fell open, his tongue peeked out when he wetted his lips. He looked amazing like this, she thought. She could worship this man all day long and never get tired of him. “My heart, my grace, my mind. You name it, you have it.” She cupped his jaw with her hand, barely able to span the width. “You, kind sir, are a thief.” He marveled at her words, couldn’t believe them to be true. But here she was. In his lap, naked as the day she was born, giving herself to him and expecting nothing of him. No coin, no stories, not a piece of his fame. “I’ll have and keep whatever you’re willing to give me, princess.” She never failed to be mesmerized by the way he said her title, more like a pet name than a royal title. He said it as if he loved her, tender and fond, and oh- his voice deep and growling; never had anyone talked to her in that way. She trailed a path down his neck, to his chest, ran her fingers through the sparse hair on it, and, in a bout of boldness, flicked one of his nipples, then soothing it with a touch of her thumb. “Ah-” He caught her hand, pulled it up to his face and pressed his lips to her fingers. “Cheeky.” His eyes glinted with humor and mischief. She wondered if this was what he’d be like if his life had taken another path, one where he wasn’t subjected to murder and hate and doubt. She decided to bring this side out of him as often as she could. Maybe, if others saw him like this - softer, open, loving - they’d be less afraid and less disgusted. His hand came around to her behind, squeezed one cheek and gave it a good smack. “Are you dreaming?”, he asked, silent laughter in the lines of his face, in the way he tippy-tapped his fingertips over her skin. She faked offence and bit her lip, aware of his eyes on them. “Indeed I am. I’m dreaming of the end of my curse. I’m dreaming of the days, where this stupid sheet isn’t needed.” “Fuck, princess.” She moved, her hips rolled, slid along his length, drawing groans and curses out of him with every thrust. His fingers surely left bruises on her hips, with how tight he squeezed her when she hit a particularly delicious spot. Their moans and groans mingled, their scents and the smell of sex heavy in the air; anyone who had just half the sense of smell Geralt had, would know of their joining just by walking by. The thought delighted Geralt in a way he wasn’t ready to explore just yet. They didn’t hold on for long after that. She chanted his name when he seized control and held her down to rut against her harsher and faster than humanly possible, and she loved it. Her body locked, her head thrown back and her scream stuck in her throat; she came hard, with her knees locked at his sides, her hips undulating. The spike of her scent and her leaking all over him and onto the sheet had him there soon enough. His nostrils flared as he breathed in their combined spent and he had to buck up once more with his head thudding against the headboard and a deep, animalistic growl echoing through the room. They sat like that for a couple of moments, her perched on his lap, hair falling down onto his thighs. His eyes were falling closed, he couldn’t remember the last time he was this relaxed. Probably never. Her weight shifting brought him back, his eyes flew open, his hands reached for her. “Calm, Geralt. I’m just laying down.” Oh. She straightened the sheet, pulled it further up his chest and ignored the mess they made in favour of laying her head onto his chest. “I’ll need to take a bath.” “Mhhm.” “You wanna watch?” He huffed a laugh, let his fingers tangle with her hair, play with it. “Is that really a question?” “I guess not.”

Disclaimer: I don't own Voltron Defender of the Universe.
Summary: Keith escapes from Lotor but not before he undergoes some unusual changes.
Author Note: This is team as family and definitely NOT Kallura.
"The Power of A Woman"
Keith sighed as he or rather she piloted Black Lion back to Arus. She had been captured by Lotor and, for reasons unknown to her, changed her gender. She was hoping to hide it from her team but doubted it was possible. She landed Black on his pedestal and went back through the portal.
Keith was uncomfortable in her regular jumpsuit. It was much too tight in the chest and thigh area and loose in the waist. Also, it was a little too long in the arms and legs. She wanted to leave the control area before anyone saw her, but she wasn't that lucky.
"Keith?"
Keith paused in her attempt in leaving the room. Of course, it was Allura who saw her.
"Keith? Where were you sneaking off to?"
Lance had joined in. Keith didn't want to turn around.
"What's wrong, Keith?"
Pidge would pick up on her lack of comment.
"Do we need to knock some heads?"
Keith had to smile at Hunk's comment. Her teammate would gladly fight anyone who hurt any of his teammates.
Allura reached Keith's side. "You escaped from Lotor's clutches and now you're trying to hide from us. Did he do something that you don't want us to see?"
Keith turned towards the princess, giving everyone a good look at what happened.
Lance, Hunk, and Pidge gawked at their leader before dissolving into fits of laughter. Allura looked bewildered, but Keith had had enough. "I'm leaving. I hope to make it to my room before Nanny sees me."
She stalked out of castle control, silently fuming at her teammates. She knew they would laugh at her. Her temper cooled the further she got from castle control.
"Keith! Wait!"
Keith stopped and turned to see Allura running up the hallway in her direction. "Yes?"
"Come with me." Allura grabbed the other girl's arm and led her to her room. Allura peeked in, looking to see if Nanny was in there. Fortunately, Allura's governess was nowhere to be seen. "The coast is clear. Nanny must be elsewhere." She led Keith into her room. "We need to get you something better fitting to wear."
"I'm not wearing a dress, Princess."
"I understand that, Keith, and your hair needs tied back as well. Now, what color, besides red, do you like?"
"Blue."
Allura smiled and pulled out a blue and white jumpsuit that looked exactly like hers (except for the color scheme). She handed it to her captain and let her change into it in her bathroom. When Keith came back wearing the new clothes, Allura forced her to sit at her vanity. She picked up a hairbrush, brushed Keith's thick hair, and managed to put it up in a ponytail. Her hair wasn't much longer than it normally was, but it was still just past her shoulders. Two locks of hair refused to be bound and framed Keith's face beautifully.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Nanny walked in. "Princess, I- who's this? A visiting royal?" She gave the raven-haired girl a glance up and down. "Really, Princess. You can loan the girl one of your gowns, so she doesn't have to wear pants."
"No. It's all right. I-" Keith tried to say something, but Nanny cut her off.
"So modest!" Nanny pulled a blue gown out of Allura's closet and with the help of a couple of maids forced Keith into the dress. Keith managed to flee before Nanny tried to put make-up on her. She didn't stop running until she was in her room. She collapsed on her bed and didn't move until she had her breathing under control. She carefully removed the dress and put the blue and white jumpsuit back on. She had managed to grab it before she was forced to flee the princess's room.
There was a knock on the door. Keith didn't respond until she heard from the other side, "I thought Keith was headed here."
It was Lance. Keith called out, "Who's out there?"
"It's just us, Keith. Lance, Hunk, and Pidge."
Keith opened the door and let in her team mates, closing the door behind them quickly. Lance saw the discarded blue dress on Keith's bed. Keith saw Lance's gaze on the dress. "Before you assume anything, Nanny caught me and forced me into the dress. Allura had let me borrow this."
The klaxons started blaring, and Coran's voice came over the intercom. "Voltron Force, report to Castle Control!"
Keith, Lance, Pidge, and Hunk all ran from Keith's room, meeting Allura on the way. When they got to Castle Control, Allura asked, "What's the problem, Coran?"
"We are being hailed." The advisor activated the view screen, and Lotor appeared on the screen.
Lotor looked at the assembled team, or, more specifically, at Keith. "I must say. You do make a pretty girl, Captain."
Keith bristled at the comment and growled. "Go to hell, Lotor."
"My, my. A pretty thing like you shouldn't have such a temper or use such language."
"Is this permanent or is there a way to reverse this?" Keith asked, trying to reel in her temper.
Lotor grinned evilly. "There is no reversal."
"Then, why are you here?!"
"To make sure the procedure was a success and to launch an attack on the planet."
The connection was terminated, and an explosion rocked the castle. "We need the lions!"
The five pilots stepped to the side, and Coran pressed the button to raise the platform.  All of a sudden, Nanny appeared. "Princesses, you are not going out in those lions!"
"Nanny, I am the only princess here," Allura corrected, "and Lotor is attacking the planet."
"Then, who is that if not a visiting royal?" Nanny asked, pointing at Keith.
"I am not a visiting royal. I may look like a girl, but that doesn't mean you can treat me like one."
"You-"
"No. I am still Captain Keith Kogane, and I will lead my team." With that said, Keith sprinted towards the first portal, jumped, and grabbed the t-bar. She rode it down to the speeder and put on her uniform, heading towards Black Lion. Black Lion roared, and Keith's voice was heard through the comms. "What are you guys waiting for? Launch your lions!"
"Let's go!" Lance exclaimed. The four other pilots dashed to their portals and ended up in their lions. They launched and joined Black Lion in combat.
"Let's form Voltron! Activate interlocks! Dynotherms connected! Infracells up! Megathrusters are go!"
"Let's go Voltron Force!"
They formed Voltron. "Form blazing sword!"
They took down the robeast that Lotor had brought with him.
"Ignite lion torch!" Red Lion fired a stream of fire at Lotor's personal cruiser, causing him to flee.
"All right. Disactivate interlocks and disengage!" Keith ordered. Voltron split back up into the individual lions, and the pilots flew their lions back to their individual dens. They headed back to the control room.
Keith was slightly nervous about being back in the control room as she was sure Nanny was going to still be there, and she was right. Judging by the redness of the governess's face, Keith was sure she was about to be on the end of one of the woman's famous lectures.
"How dare you speak to me that way! I don't-"
"That is enough!" All eyes turned to Allura, who had her hands on her hips. "I have had enough of you berating my team. Yes, they are my team until we are in battle. Then, Keith is our commander. You will show them the respect they have more than earned on multiple occasions including just now. If you do not, you will find yourself out of the castle faster than we can form Voltron!"
"Young lady, you need to be reminded to respect your elders!" Nanny went too try to put Allura over her knee, but Allura stood her ground and yanked her arm away from Nanny.
"You will not! I am the crown princess of Arus and you are my governess. However, I am not the little girl you seem to think I still am. Overstep your bounds again, and you will also find yourself out of the castle."
"Princess, please calm down." Coran placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, which was the wrong move.
"You will unhand me, or you will be fired as well!"
Coran removed his hand in surprise. Keith sighed inaudibly and took a few steps in Allura's direction. "Allura? Maybe we need to separate so we can cool off before we make decisions we may regret."
Allura smiled. No matter her gender, Keith was always looking out for everyone. "I appreciate your concern, but this was a long time coming. However, I agree about departing the control room. Do you four wish to join me in the lounge?"
"Of course, we would, Princess," Lance grinned, and the three men and one woman followed the Princess out of Castle Control in awe of the power she can truly wield. They couldn't wait to see what the future would hold for this tougher version of the princess.
Fin
Author Note 2: Allura had taken her cue on being tough from Keith. Even though Keith was a woman, she still had the power she held as the Voltron commander, inspiring the princess to step up and wield the power that comes with her station.

Hi can i request “Your ass is going to be seven different shades of red after that little stunt.”“You’d better be quiet or everyone’s going to know what a naughty little slut you are.”“I don’t care how good it feels you’d better not cum until I tell you to.”With Kylo
Offffft. This turned out realllllly long. It’s a wee concept I’ve been thinking about doing for a while. I could turn it into a series....? Let me know readers.
Tumblr media
Kylo Ren (AU) x Reader
Warning: NSFW, sub/dom, restraint, spanking
You had had this arrangement with him for a few months.
You didn’t know his first name, he didn’t know yours. It was part of the game, part of the allure.
You walked into the dim bar, looking for his large frame.
You didn’t see him, so sat and ordered a drink.
You were wearing what he had told you to, black stilettos, a slinky black dress and nothing else.
You smelt him before you saw him. It was a smell that never failed to send waves to anticipation to your core. Spice, a touch of sandalwood...an expensive scent, warm and luxurious.
“Good evening Kitten.” He said quietly near your ear.
“Hello Mr Ren.” You answered softly, swiveling in the chair to face him.
He always took your breath away, his unconventionally handsome face, perfectly wavy raven hair, intensely dark eyes and full lips.
He wore another sharp suit, black, always black, tailored impeccably to his broad frame.
His hand brushed your thigh, “you look beautiful Kitten, just how I wanted you.”
You smiled, “I’m glad you are pleased, Sir.”
Inside you were positively bursting at his praise. You felt slightly ashamed of how much his approval effected you.
He ordered a drink with a wave of his hand. They knew him here. This was your spot. The lobby bar in an upmarket hotel, the top floors of which were private homes. One was his.
You knew nothing about each other, other than what you had learnt during your meetings. You knew he had money, you knew he had a high powered job. You knew where he lived. You knew what he liked in the bedroom.
It was as simple as that really.
He sat at the bar stool next to you, his hand resting on your thigh as you sipped your martini.
His dark eyes roamed over your body as he swirled his drink.
You sat in silence, it wasn’t uncommon, and it wasn’t uncomfortable. There was a tension, you had to constantly restrain yourself from touching him, kissing him - anything. He decided when it was time to go upstairs. It was usually when you were wet with anticipation.
He wasn’t patient tonight, it seemed. He drained his drink in one mouthful and offered you his hand.
You took it wordlessly.
As soon as the elevator doors shut he caged you against the wall. Your breath hitched.
“You look like sex on legs tonight Kitten.” He growled, “I couldn’t wait any longer.”
“Thank you, Sir.” Your voice wobbled.
“Can’t wait to plunge my fin-”
The elevator dinged and an elderly woman walked in.
“Ma’am” he nodded, the picture of composure in a split second.
She smiled, and turned to stand with her back to you both.
His hand ran down your back and rested on your arse as he stood next to you.
The tension in the air was thick. You were trying to control your breathing when the elevator dinged again and the woman left.
You sighed when the doors shut again and the elevator continued.
A smile tugged at Mr Ren’s mouth, “restless Kitten?”
“Yes, sir” you squirmed as his hand squeezed your butt cheek.
The elevator stopped on his floor and you followed him to his door.
His hands were on you the second the latch clicked shut.
He never touched you much in public. But here, here he ravaged you.
He pressed up behind you. His lips grazing your bare shoulder.
He ran his large hands down your sides, “this little number is driving me wild Kitten.” He growled, “did you buy it especially for me?”
“Yes sir.” You breathed.
“You’re such a good girl” He praises, before kissing and sucking your neck as his hands unzipped your dress. You moaned softly.
He pushed the straps off your shoulder before pushing the dress down until it fell to your feet.
You were naked beneath, as instructed. He made a throaty noise as his hands pulled you flush against him. Your back pressed against his clothed chest.
There was something so erotic about being naked in stilettos, against this sharply dress man.
It was a rule that you must ask before touching yourself, however in your state of lust and arousal your hand crept to your clit as his hands kneaded your breasts.
You were lost in your pleasure when his hand clamped down on your wrist and ripped it away from your clit.
“What do you think you are doing Kitten?” He said evenly, it even sounded like there was a hint of amusement in his voice.
“Sorry” you whimpered.
“Bad girl, breaking my rules, disobedient little whore.” He murmured, nibbling your ear lobe. “Bad girls get punished.”
You moaned, resting your head on his chest. You had never done anything to warrant punishment before. He seemed silently happy you finally had as he sucked your neck and collarbone.
“Your ass is going to be seven different shades of red after that little stunt.” He said in a soft voice, before dipping his fingers between your legs and groaning when he felt how wet you were.
“Dirty girl” he hissed, pushing his fingers in your mouth, making you taste yourself, “go and bend yourself over the bed.”
“Yes, Mr Ren” you panted after he pulled his fingers out of your mouth with a pop. You walked on shaky legs to the bedroom.
His home was much like him. Or rather, how he presented himself. Sleek, expensive, a lot of black. There was nothing personal in the space, it always made you feel a tinge of sadness. But you pushed that thought away.
You felt him following you, watching as you reached the bed and bent yourself over, resting your forearms on the cool, silky bedding.
“Fuck” he growled, “look at you.”
You moaned softly, yearning for stimulation.
You heard him undressing. You longed to look, but kept your head in place.
“Good girl, good girl” he soothed, “you are being so patient Kitten.”
You clenched at the praise, you could feel the slick of your pussy threatening to drip down your leg.
He had figured out your weaknesses the first time you met, and he preyed on them, gloriously.
You gasped when his soft hands ran up your thighs. Pushing against him desperately as he rubbed your butt cheeks.
He chuckled darkly, “don’t be greedy Kitten.”
You yelped when the first strike landed, he had struck you low enough that vibrations reverberated through your pussy.
“I wish you could see how your arse ripples” he growled, “fuck.”
“Sir, you can hit me harder, I deserve it.”
“Kitten...” he murmured, “Jesus, you will be the death of me.”
The second spank was much harder, he had been holding back quite significantly.
You didn’t even cry out, just moaned, a long, loud moan.
“You better be quiet, otherwise everyone’s going to know what a naughty little slut you are.”
You doubted anyone could hear, but it was all part of the game.
“I’ll be quiet Mr Ren” you whispered.
“That’s my good girl.” He breathed, before spanking you again.
You clamped your hand over your mouth, muffling your vocalisations of pleasure as he spanked you a few more times.
When he was decided he was done, he got on his knee’s, his mouth soothing your stinging skin.
“Did you nearly cum from being spanked Kitten?” He asked, wonder apparent in his deep voice.
“Yes sir” you admitted.
He swore under his breath, “so hot and wet” he muttered, teasing your entrance with his finger.
“Stand up.”
You did so, stretching gratefully.
You turned around, he was was still on his knees, naked. Your eyes feasted on his toned form, rippling thigh muscles and heavy cock, erect and waiting for you.
He pulled you to him, his head was level with your stomach, and he kissed your soft flesh gently.
“You can touch me” he mumbled into your skin.
You did something you had longed to do since you had first met. You gently raked your fingers through this hair.
He groaned, dwelling slightly, before standing up and kissing you. He didn’t often kiss you, but this was urgent, passionate. His tongue explored your mouth as you gripped handfuls of his hair, his cock prodding you in the stomach.
He manouvered you onto the bed, pinning you hands above your head.
“You can’t be trusted with these” he smirked, “spread your legs.”
You spread them, he held both your wrists together in place, using his other hand to line his cock up.
He pushed in.
You whimpered in relief, his sizable member filling you to capacity.
“You have they most perfect little cunt” he gritted out, resuming his grip on your wrist as he began to roll his hips.
Your eyes rolled back as he took a nipple in his mouth and sucked. He took as much of your breast as he could in his mouth and bit down.
You arched your back with a loud moan.
He released his mouthful with an amused smile “dirty girl.” He murmured.
“Oh, Sir” you moaned in bliss as he flicked your nipples with his tongue.
He finally released your hands, before pulling out.
You cried out at the loss.
He smiled darkly, standing up and running his eyes over your laid out body.
“I need you to sit on my cock.”
You scrambled up, a he sat against the plush headboard.
He stroked his cock as you straddled him eagerly.
“Such a good girl, so willing to please me.” He mused.
“Always, Mr Ren.” You met his gaze.
You sunk down, relishing the new angle, his long cock reaching deep inside you.
His head lolled back, eyes fluttering as you began riding him slowly.
“Jesus” he breathed, your hands resting on his shoulders as you moved.
He grabbed your hips and helped you slam onto his cock.
“Sir!....oh!.....I!”
“I don’t care how good it feels Kitten, you’d better not cum until I tell you.”
You nodded with a whimper.
“You look so fucking beautiful riding my cock,” he panted, “I should chain you to this bed, never let you go.”
He wrapped a hand around your neck, applying no pressure, you felt his eyes on you, gauging your reaction.
“Yes Sir, you should” you breathed, meeting his gaze as he tightened his grip a little.
He let out a primal, deep growl, his eyes not leaving yours.
The fingers of his other hand began circling your clit.
“Fuckkk! Oh Mr Ren, please let me cum!” You pleaded.
His lips curled into a smirk, eyes dark as he watched you concentrate on not cumming.
“But you look so beautiful like this Kitten.” He said smugly.
Please, please, please” you chanted, moving slower on his cock so you didn’t break.
“Since you are such good girl, you can cum.” He whispered in your ear, still gripping your neck.
You relaxed and climaxed so hard you thought you might pass out.
“Fucking hell” Mr Ren choked as your cunt strangled his cock as it spasmed and clenched.
He was releasing into you moments later with a low moan, his face slack, his grip falling from your throat, eyes closed.
You felt boneless, slumping against him.
His forehead rested against your shoulder as he panted, a silence blanketing the room.
“Kitten” he murmured softly, his hands running up and down your back.
“Mmmm?” You were basking in post-coitus bliss, feeling very comfortable resting on his chest.
“Indulge me in a kiss” he said huskily.
You sat up, surprise evident on your face. He never kissed you outside of fucking, even then it wasn’t a regular occurance.
“Are you getting soft on me Mr Ren?” You quipped with a small smile.
“It’s hard not to....” he murmured before cupping your face and bringing your lips to his.

Tw: Gore
This will be a twist on the episode from season 4 of Octonauts, "Tiger Shark". What might've happened had things gone differently.
————————————————————
Tweak made a small sigh as she finally managed to fasten the 'Sandy Cam' as she had nicknamed it to the hard shell of her sea-dwelling friend. "There we go! The cam is on Sandy!" She said, wiping her forehead to push the strands of long hair that had fallen into her face. Grabbing a fresh carrot from the fin of the vegimal beside her, she took a quick bite, the familiar crunch of the vegetable erupting in her mouth. From the corner of her vision, she caught Barrot hiding behind a cart. A slight chuckle escaped her mouth. 'Poor thing still thinks I'm gonna eat him..'
Turning her attention back to the turtle in front of her, she gave a tug to the harness holding the camera in place. "All secure, Sandy!" She confirmed with another bite of her snack. "Dashi, open the octohatch for her!" She requested, casting a sideways glance at the fellow crewmate. The dog gave her a smile. "Already on it, Tweak!" A pull on the red labeled lever and a bit of bubbles rose from the bottom of the launch bay and her friend sunk under the water. "Bye Sandy!" She called, waving with her green-furred paw.
The large turtle gave a little wave of a flipper before gliding through the hatch to exit the mechanical ship. As she entered the water it gave her a little shiver of happiness to be back out in the open water before heading off in the direction of the reef, her flippers propelling her forward hastily.
Back inside the octonaut, Dashi pushed on a button and the screen flickered to life, showing a live feed of Sandy's surroundings. "We should get Shellington down here to look at this." Dashi spoke softly. The rabbit beside her shifted the pink ribbon tied around her head. "I have a better idea."
Soon, the three of them were settled down in the game pod, snuggled into the comfy bean bags and sipping cool smoothies as the cam showed the colorful reef surrounding Sandy. Fish of millions of colors were blurs as the turtle sped ahead, heading through tunnels and under ledges of coral. A smile spread across Tweak's face. "Whoever says Turtles are slow has never seen Sandy swim." Shellington was listing off the species of fish swimming past the cam as if it was counting the alphabet. No matter how long she could practice, she doubted she could ever do that. Even when she was raised in the Everglades with her father she had struggled to remember names of the species of creatures in her home area.
A pod of bottlenose dolphins darted past, fearful looks in their eyes and ushering the young ones in front of them with their snouts. In a panic one of them swam over Sandy, his tail smacking the cam in a circle before it stopped facing behind Sandy. A sharp gasp escaped Shellington's mouth, leaning forward. The shape of the large shark was recognizable even to tweak. "A tiger shark!" He cried out. "Sandy move!" Even before he said it, the turtle was moving. The reef became even more hazy as she moved forward at high speeds. "Did she escape?" Tweak asked nervously, not realizing she had stood up, her ears twitching anxiously.
Dashi rotated the joystick on the remote controlling the Sandy Cam. "No." The shark opened its mouth, the teeth glinting as the water refracted light. The teeth closed down and the camera flickered out to black. Tweak's feet moved on her own, throwing her carrot down and sprinting to the hatch and jumping through, soaring through the tubes and landing neatly on her feet on the familiar steel floor of her workshop. Her eyes scanned the gups before they landed on Gup-B. 'It's the fastest.' The thought flashed through her mind like an arrow before she hopped into it. Her dog friend jumped out of the hatch as the glass covering closed over her. "Dashi, open the octohatch." Her voice was cold and worry filled as she sunk down under the water.
The hatch opened as she sped through it, racing to the reef. She barely acknowledged the Gup-A in the distance, holding a returning Captain, Medic and Lieutenant of the Octonauts.
The Polar Bear gave a happy sigh. "We've officially explored the entire reef. I can't wait to go home and rest up for awhile." The two beside him made noises of agreement before snapping to attention as an orange blur raced past. Peso blinked a couple times before pressing his feathered face against the glass. "Was that..Tweak?" Kwazii had a look of pure confusion written across his face. "What's she doing in the Gup-B." Just as he said that, the radio made a static sound before Dashi's voice came through.
"Captain, the camera we put on Sandy showed a Tiger Shark chasing her. Tweak is-." The Captain cut her off. "We know, and we're right behind her." He maneuvered the Gup around and followed the stream of bubbles left behind by Tweak's driving.
Tweak slowed down where the camera last showed Sandy to be. By now, after not seeing her friend nearby and safe she was pushing down the tears threatening to well up in her eyes. "Sandy!" She called out. "Where are you?!" You could hear the desperation and fear in her voice. The Gup-A pulled up beside her. "Any sign of her Tweak?" The Bear asked, concern written across his face. The green rabbit shook her head, her ears moving constantly to pick up even the slightest sound of her friend. "N-No." She mentally scolded herself for stuttering before a rubbery band of gray slapped into her helmet. She pulled it down into her hands and examined it.
"This was the harness that held the camera on Sandy's shell.." She mumbled bleakly, her voice cracking. Kwazii's voice cut in. "It's a'ight matey, we'll find her. Promise." But even with his reassurance, it didn't help to ease her nerves. She got back into the shark-like gup. Even seeing a shape such as a shark sent a wave of determination and rage through her and she disappeared into the depths. The three left behind looked at eachother before looking at the tracker. An icon of the shark gup showed. Kwazii tuned into the radio. "See anything matey?"
Tweak's voice crackled through. "Not ye- Ah!" She swerved down as a striped shark came at her head on. "Now I do!" She yelped, speeding through the reef, the shark behind her snapping it's teeth at the gup.
Barnacles let out a growl and contacted the octopod. "Shellington! What can you tell us about Tiger Sharks?" The otter moved his hand to his chin, his eyes casted downward. "They are known as the waste baskets as the sea. They will eat anything they can fit in their mouths. They are fast and strong, making them amazing hunters, Captain." Tweak let out a noise of frustration, pressing on the wheel hard and wishing she had a carrot to chew on. She was biting her lip so hard she could taste blood. But she wasn't focused on that. She was focused on evading this shark and finding Sandy. She pressed a button and ducked behind a clearing in the coral. Dark stripes appeared on the orange metal shark, "Glad I added this Tiger Shark camouflage.." She whispered.
She lowered her head so her green head was less visible to the shark, praying she was safe. The shark swam around into the clearing and looked at her, as if debating wether to eat her first or tear her to shreds. Tweak took a deep breath, before yelling in surprise as the shark butted the gup, accidentally making her slam herself into the control panel and hit the turbo button. She yelped, the metal machine accelerating at insane speeds.
Tweak just barely lifted it up high enough to avoid the coral and crashing. Her eyes were wide, staring at the controls. She was too focused on that to notice the giant rocky reef she was heading towards.
Peso, from the Gup-A gasped and radio contacted his mechanic friend. "Tweak! Watch out! Reef ahead!"
Tweak looked up just in time and swerved around, ducking into a cave in one of the towering pillars of rock. She wasn't able to pull the gup back in time to stop it from smashing into the dead end and denting the front of the gup and shattering the glass covering. Tweak blew bubbles from her mouth, putting on her helmet and hiding behind the gup. She pressed the radio on her collar. "T-Tweak to octopod. I-..I need backup." She said desperately. She received no response. "Crap..it's broken.." She whispered.
But she went deadly still as she heard fins swimming down the tunnel, her ears lowering as she curled herself into a ball. The shark nudged the gup aside, staring hungrily at the rabbit.
Meanwhile, in the Gup-A Captain Barnacles was searching all over the reef, panicking at this point for her safety. "Tweak? Where are you?" Peso gulped nervously. "Flappity Flippers..she could be anywhere in this huge place.." Kwazii's tail lashed in anger. "Aye matey, we need to find her fast before that shark turns her into a snack!"
The Captain nodded. He wasn't showing it much on the outside, but he was worried sick. He cared for each of the crew like they were his Cubs. He didn't treat them as if they were young, but he would damn well throw himself in danger to keep any one of them safe. "Her radio isn't working. The gup tracker isn't either. We'll have to find her ourselves. Let's just hope we find her first." He huffed, eyes narrowed.
Back inside the cave, Tweak was backing herself up slowly. "Nice..shark.." She murmured. She was forcing herself not to shake, worried it might trigger the shark to attack her with brute force and sharp teeth. The shark swam forward, going around her several times before sniffing her cut arm. Tweak stiffened up completely, praying. 'Oh me, oh my..' The shark maneuvered around her again before sinking its teeth into her right arm. The rabbit cried out in pain, sucking air through her teeth. Blood rose out, swirling in the water. She raised her free hand, punching the shark in the nose to get it off before falling to the floor once it released. Soft cries of pain escaped her, holding her arm to her chest.
The shark went in for more, now attacking her leg and ripping fur off her skin and shredding the flesh. Tweak let out a screech of pain, trying to kick the animal away.
Sandy, who was surfing around the reef now, managed to hear her friend's screams and froze, going still in the water before propelling forward as fast as she could. "TWEAK?" She called out in anguish. She tried to follow the sounds of her rabbit friend, swimming around in a hurry.
By now, Tweak was screaming, the shark now biting into her stomach and thrashing her around like a rag doll. She could taste the blood in her mouth as it dribbled out, standing her fur red and clouds of blood rising into the water. Her blood. She was starting to go faint from bloodloss, the edges of her vision fading to black. 'Sorry everyone..don't think I'm gonna make it out of this one..' She thought solemnly.
Just then, a hard shell crashed into the shark, causing the now torn up octonaut to slam into the wall out of the momentum. At least she was free from the jaws of the shark. Bad news. Water was now leaking into her helmet from a crack in the glass. She wouldn't be able to breath for long.
Thankfully, a familiar voice snapped her to attention. "Tweak!? Tweak get up! Are you alive?" The hazy shape of a turtle appeared in her vision. "O-Oh no..your helmet..you're wounded badly..I-I need to get you to the surface. She nudged the limp rabbit onto her shell, before speeding out of the cave and making a race for the surface.
Tweak put her helmet down as they got there, all the water flooding out. Blood was still dripping from her mouth and forehead. "I-It h..urts.." She had to stop in the middle of her sentence to cough, blood leaving her mouth even more when she did.
Sandy let out a noise of distress. "Let me try to see if any of your crew is nearby from up here." She ducked her head into the water, looking down for any sign of them. She sighed in relief as she spotted the familiar Gup-A. "CAPTAIN BARNACLES." She yelled as loud as she could. "Up here!"
Captain Barnacles was slightly startled, but did go up. "Sandy? Are you-..." He had reached the surface now, seeing the mangled body of Tweak. Her usual fluffy green fur now matted down and stained with her own blood. Kwazii stared at her for a moment. "I- I'm gonna.." he turned around and threw up, tears running down his face. "Oh my lord.." Peso whispered. "I-I-..Is she alive..?"
Sandy looked at him anxiously. "Barely. We need to get her to the octopod. Her helmets broken. The Captain nodded. "Get her in here, Sandy." He put on his own helmet and jumped out of the gup, swimming over to the turtle and carefully lifting the mechanic from her shell. "Alright, Tweak..your safe now.." He went back under for a few moments and came back inside the octopod. "We have a lot of work to do to keep her alive.." He mumbled.

Molten ash.
It was all that Jetfire could see through the hazed smoke, faint crackling filling his audio receptors. Where was he? Who was he? What happened? Questions threw themselves inside his pounding processors as he winced sharply. He made no move to get up, not knowing the damage his body had taken. He exhaled roughly, his chest aflame from the surrounding heat. He was going to die here. And…he was ok with that. He hated that he was ok with that, knowing he should be strong as a member of the Elite Guard but, where were they? He saw no sign of them. He didn’t blame them, they probably wanted this. He wasn’t much help, he only caused destruction. What kind of a useful weapon is fire anyway?? Did he cause this? Did he cause his own death? A staticked chuckle pushed itself past his burnt metal lips. He deserved this didn’t he? Jetstorm didn’t need him, he was always great on his own; he didn’t need him. Jetfire’s flickering optics looked around him. He was surrounded by wild flames but past that, he could see trees, or… what was left of them. Tall burnt, shriveled sticks laid where lush green trees used to stand. He laid on a ground of wet mud, as the flames around him melted any remaining snow in the area. His optics dulled. So…he did do this. He could feel coolant try to fall from his wet optics but it would simply evaporate. The flames seemed to rise, knowing his emotions and feelings; after all, he did make them; and they crept closer to his frame. “I”. His voice couldn’t seem to work, making him frown. “I be sorry”. He pushed through the pain of his burning throat, even though it was begging to not be used, begging for recovery. “I be sorry brother”. His Russian accent almost seemed to melt away, taking his voice box with it. The pain was unbearable, but shouldn’t he be used to it? After all the things he had done to himself, why did this hurt the most? His chest tightened around his spark, almost feeling as though it began crushing it. He groaned. It hurt. It hurt so fucking much. But, he knew he deserved it. Didn’t he? He had to, right? It didn’t matter. He was going to finally die, and nothing could stop that. He looked at himself, using all the strengthen left to lift his head up. Both of his legs had burnt cabling jetting out of them, and sparks flying. His hands where as dark as soot, creating black streaks on his body and the surrounding ground around him. All white on his beautiful frame was now a dark, murky, deep grey. And his Autobot insignia. It was melted, fused to his chest plate. On the ground around him was bright pink Energon, some of it even boiling. He was a fucking mess. “I was so sure”. He smiled at the hazy sky before shutting his eyes for the last time.
His body shook, tears dripping out of his bright blue optics. Jazz held him close, stroking his back comfortingly while glancing at Sentinal Prime, who was looking down; grief lacing his faceplate. “I-“. The Prime hesitated. “I don’t know what we can do”. The crying mech glanced furiously at him, his teeth moving into a snarl. “What?! What you mean you don’t know what we can do?!” Jetstorm clawed at his helm, placing scratches in it. “We don’t know where he went. He was out of control”! The prime persuaded the young bot, knowing anything else he could say wound make him snap. “Brother is out there”! Jetstorm choked oh his dripping tears as Jazz patting his back slightly to help him. Sentinal Prime looked at his cremate, not knowing what to do in a situation like this. “Jetstorm I-”. The furious blue mech interrupted him. “Please…Don’t tell me anything”. His voice was now much calmer as he sobbed openly. “I will go find Jetfire, With or without your help”. He pushed himself away from Jazz and ran out of the ship before transforming quickly and jetting off, as fast as he could possibly go. The air was cold, yes, but he couldn’t give two flying shits. He needed Jetfire. He needed his twin. Jetstorm knew that he would never forgive himself if he allowed Jetfire to offline himself. But…what if he was too late? Despite being in jet mode, coolant still fell from his optics. He sped up, not caring about any of the sleeping humans below. He needed to find his twin. He blasted through the city, advancing to the full forest past Lake Erie.  He didn’t know how far he traveled, but it felt like it took him years just to leave the city. Jetstorm’s thoughts where full of hatred. All words himself. He could have been there. He SHOULD have been there. But he wasn’t. His brother was out there; in the freezing frost; hurt and full of self-hatred. He needed his brother. And his brother needed him.
The flight was long, too long before Jetstorm could see smoke in the distance, causing his to go at full blast. Before he knew it, a puff of smoke became hungry flames, reaching high into the air. He transformers quickly, hitting the earth hard before looking around at the hissing inferno. His breaths where frantic. This had to be his doing. It HAD to! Coolant stained his cheek as he moved hand up, before sending a powerful blast of a water cyclone at the flames, extinguishing a few of them. He did this a few times, checking every spot he could. He wouldn’t give up, but there was no sign of his beloved brother.  That was, until he stepping something. He slowly looked down and lifted his foot. He let out a chocked sob as pink Energon coated his ped. He set is foot down, and looked around ferociously until his eyes fell on a sigh that he wished he never saw. Jetfire laid on the muddy ground, none of his colors where even recognizable as he was covered in scorched soot. Jetstorm sprinted to his brother and slid on his knees to the burnt frame. “B-brother”? His voice was barely above a whisper as he went to go touch him, but froze, hands above his twin’s chest, feeling the heat radiating off of his frame. “Poor b-brother”. His sobs returned as he laid his helm on his twin’s chest, and sobbed into it. He was too late. He had failed himself but most importantly, he had failed Jetfire. “Brother, I am of the sorry”! He sobbed and sobbed, till he couldn’t sob anymore. He kept his helm on his brother and heaved a quivered sigh as loose tears washed away a bit of soot on Jetfire’s frame. His brother was gone. Gone forever.
Ba-dum
“W-what”?
Ba-dum
Jetstorm froze before placing his audio fin over the center of his brother’s chest.
Ba-dum
Was it?
Ba-dum
It was!
A spark beat filled his ears, causing him to burst into tears again, but not from sadness. Oh no, not from sadness at all.  Jetstorm pulled his brother’s limp body into his arms and sobbed. He was alive. Jetfire was alive. “T-thank t-the All S-Spark”! The fire that used to surround the twins had died down, now only weak little flames, being extinguished  quickly by the snow that began to fall. He scooped his brother up gently in his arms and used one hand to comm Sentinal. Moments later, a swirl of blue and green appeared, and Jetstorm heaved a sigh. “Brother, we be heading home”.

The Spectral Turnabout 3/?
Miles gets the truth of his ‘hallucinations’ revealed to him.
oOo
“Please, Edgeworth, let me help you.” Phoenix asked once more, a little quieter this time, a little more sure of the answer he was going to get. He was already knee-deep into the case. The dl-6 incident was dusted off. Phoenix’s single-minded focus had already locked onto this case, onto this murder, onto Miles’ innocence.
The spirit that followed Miles’ had set her head on the table before him, less than an inch from touching the man’s hand, eyes flicking between Miles and Phoenix. She was sitting completely still, and Phoenix imagined if she was a living creature she’d be holding her breath.
“... yes.” Miles said, almost more of a whisper than anything. Phoenix felt the weight of the case settle on him, officially under his responsibility. The spirit tipped her head back and howled with joy, jumping and hopping around in her excitement. She slipped through the wall dividing Miles and Phoenix and ran right into Phoenix, bowling him over with her force.
“Yes yes yes! Thank you thank you! I promise you won’t regret this, I promise! He’s innocent, I was with him all night, he’s innocent and I know it so don’t you worry, you’re doing the right thing!” The spirit cheered, giving Phoenix’s face a lick that definitely felt like being licked by a dog, and he had to wonder if normal people would see the slobber on his face or not.
“Hey, yes, I am, and that’s great, but I need to talk to Edgeworth a bit more!” Phoenix did his best to gently nudge the spirit off, but she was big and heavy. Maya was over in a moment, grabbing the spirit from the back and lifting her off. The spirit made a sad noise, the wings on her head fluttering around.
“You have to get him acquitted, okay? He’s innocent!” The spirit continued to insist.
“We will!” Maya promised. This made the spirit’s wings - both the set on her head and the set on her back - flutter about even more in joy and excitement, pushing away from Maya and flying through the wall again to rest her head exactly where it had been before, nice and close to Miles.
Miles.
Who was still on the other side of the glass.
Who must’ve just seen Phoenix fall backwards for no reason, talk to nobody, and then Maya perform some impressive mime of trying to lift something heavy that didn’t exist.
Who was speechless staring at Phoenix and Maya, not blinking, maybe not breathing.
“Ah, uh, you, your response,” Phoenix desperately fished for a way to explain what had just happened.
“We’re practicing! For a show!” Maya said quickly, coming in clutch.
“Did you hear, Miles? They believe me! They’re going to save you, you’ll be okay!” The spirit said.
And then, Miles eyes darted down to the spirit, and a purple spectral energy began to come off of him.
“Edgeworth?” Phoenix said slowly, cautiously, getting back to his feet and close to the glass again. Miles’ chest was moving quicker and quicker, moving up and down in great big movement that almost looked painful. The spirit touched her nose to Miles’ hand, such a small but very deliberate gesture.
“You’re a spectral?” Maya asked, clearly as surprised as Phoenix.
Miles’ shoulders shook, a chuckle escaping from his mouth, and then he was full-on laughing. The spirit made a pained noise and began to wrap herself around the man, just like Phoenix had seen her do during court; a position that now had a different meaning knowing that Miles was aware of it, let the spirit do so. The spectral energy rolled off of him in disjointed and randomly spiking waves`
“Edgeworth…?” Maya shuffled awkwardly. Miles' laughter petered out quickly, and it sounded more like coughing, like sobbing, but he wasn’t shedding any tears. One hand was raised up and just barely not touching the spirit who was trying so hard to comfort him.
“Say it again,” Miles asked, no, he begged, “Ask me again.”
“Miles,” Phoenix let out a slow breath, “Are you a spectral?” Another dry chuckle forced its way out of Miles’ chest in a way that looked like it was against his will.
“Y… yes, yes, I think I am. At least, that’s what Pess told me.” Miles said. He rubbed his face, making an effort to get himself under control again, and with the action his spectral energy crept back inside of him, hidden once more like it had never been there. It was a subtle difference, considering with the spirit draped over him, her own spectral color a match for his, it was almost impossible to tell them apart.
“Mr. Edgeworth… are you okay?” Maya asked, brow furrowed in concern.
“There’s… I have so many questions, but now isn’t the time, is it? I finally have answers literally right in front of me, and I can’t even reach out and grab them.” Yet another humorless laugh shook him, “When this is over, however it ends… tell me about this then. For now, take this. It’s a request for you to be my attorney.”
Phoenix took it, not knowing what to say. He looked down at it, turning it over in his hands. Miles had come into the room with it in his hands, despite his insistence that he wouldn’t let Phoenix take his case. The thought made something swell in Phoenix’s chest, but the emotion was dampened by the entire exchange that had just happened.
“Miles-” Phoenix started.
And then the world shook, and anything he might’ve said was lost.
 oOo
“Spectral.” Miles repeated the word to himself. He’d committed the word to memory years and years ago, from the night that Pess had told him, but he’d never said it out loud since. Now, he rolled it over his tongue, acknowledging the way it sounded when said out loud. It was a word, a real word, with a definition and everything. A noun, a term to describe somebody like him that could see spirits and ghosts.
“I did tell you.” Pess reminded him.
He was lying on the bed in his cell, Pess’s head set on his chest. The meeting with Phoenix had been… quite something. There was the feeling of failure at having been unable to keep the man away from the DL-6 incident, then being shaken completely to his core by the sharp upheaval of his reality with the fact that he wasn’t, in fact, insane or hallucinating all these years, and then the great and final note of an earthquake more literally shaking Miles. He wasn’t aware of what he’d done in the moment, but when he came back to himself Phoenix and Maya were gone and the guard - who until then had stood quietly by the door, for all the world unaware of Miles’ and Phoenix’s meeting - was kneeling over him with concern on his face and had then taken Miles back to his cell.
“Yes, you did.” Miles relented. The words were still a whisper, so deliberately quiet, and he wanted nothing more than to pet Pess and bury his face into her fur, but he wasn’t home. He only let himself acknowledge Pess when they were truly alone. Except… except she was real, she wasn’t a figment of his imagination.
That didn’t change the fact that hardly anybody could see her, and they would think he was crazy if they found him talking to air.
“When you get out of here, maybe they can tell you more about being a spectral.” Pess said, nuzzling Miles as she spoke.
“When I get out.” Miles wasn’t sure how much he believed that would be a thing. The evidence was against him. Then again, if Phoenix had demonstrated anything in his first three cases, wasn’t it that he could and would work against impossible odds?
It was a shame, he thought, that you couldn’t really put a spirit on the witness stand. Pess, as always, had been with him the whole time, and she would vouch for him before a judge given the chance.
He wasn’t crazy.
Something in him hadn’t snapped irreparably that day in the elevator.
Miles stopped as a thought occurred to him. If he wasn’t crazy, if his memory was indeed reliable… he always dreamed of that day, of the man attacking him dad, of throwing the gun and the sound of it going off.
If he wasn’t crazy, then that had really happened. And if it had really happened, then what if that bullet had been the one to hit his dad?
Miles gave in to digging a hand into Pess’s fur and she snuggled closer.
“Everything is going to be okay, Miles.” She said.
Miles wished he could believe that.
 oOo
When it’s over, when it’s all over, Miles was left with a business card.
He must’ve gotten it at some point when Phoenix had practically dragged him out of the courtroom, a big goofy grin on his face, Maya cheering behind them. Pess was literally howling with joy, flying circles around the group, which grew in number with Gumshoe, who had been waiting just outside for them. Miles wasn’t entirely sure he could name the emotion he was feeling at the time, but he knew it felt good, it felt fan-fucking-tastic to see the man who’d shaped him into the demon prosecutor killed his father convicted for the act.
That was a few days ago, however.
Now, Miles was standing outside of an office, holding a business card in his hand, looking from the address printed on it to the number on the door, over and over again and making sure he had it right.
Not that there was much question whether he was in the right place or not. The words ‘Wright & Co Law Offices’ were printed in clear white letters on the door.
Miles took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Pess shifted on her feet next to him, and Miles’ head did a weird flinching thing as he was conflicted on whether to look at her or let the years and years of practice doing specifically not that guide him. In the end, he didn’t look, but he did brush his fingers against the top of her head. He raised his other hand and knocked on the door.
The door was answered by Phoenix himself. Instead of finding the man in the blue suit and pink tie he seemed to wear to every court session (Miles wondered if Phoenix even owned a second suit), Phoenix was dressed in a plain black tee shirt and baggy white pants with an indigo sash tied around his waist. There was the thinnest sheen of sweat on his brow, and he wasn’t wearing any shoes. It definitely wasn’t the attire one expected to find from someone at a law office, and Miles wasn’t sure what to say to that at first. Luckily, he didn’t have to as Phoenix spoke first.
“Oh, Edgeworth! I didn’t expect you to drop by. You should’ve called ahead.” He said, blinking away his own surprise and then smiling simply. “Well, come on in. What can I help you with?”
Miles had never been inside of Phoenix’s office, but he was fairly sure it didn’t usually look like this. The main desk, chairs, and coffee table had been shoved to the edges of the room. Maya was standing in the center of the open area, wearing an outfit nearly identical to Phoenix’s with the exception of a purple sash instead of the blue. She had her finger pointed in the shape of a gun, her spectral energy condensed at the tip of it, and she fired it at Phoenix.
Phoenix put a hand in front of him, his own indigo energy shaping into a shield. The little bullet harmless hit the shield with a little ‘pop’ sound. Maya grinned.
“Your reflexes are getting better.” She said approvingly. In response, Phoenix fired off his own little ball of a spectral energy, which Maya dodged with ease. Phoenix shook his head, but he was smiling, and turned back to Miles.
“Sorry, you wanted to talk about something.”
“Yes,” Miles let himself look down at Pess this time, who gave him an encouraging nod, “I wanted you to tell me about being a s-spectral.” He silently cursed himself. For all the times he’d whispered the word out loud to himself, saying it to another person felt strange.
“Oh!” Phoenix binked, and his spectral energy spiked.
“Really? You came at the perfect time!” Maya ran over, hands clapped together in excitement. “Nick and I are practicing right now!”
“Practicing?” Miles thought back to what he’d seen, of how Maya and Phoenix had done something with their spectral energy. He’d had no idea it was so moldable.
“Yeah! You don’t become a spectral master by just sitting around.” Maya curved her fingers like claws, and the spectral energy pooled around it into a form like two bear paws. Phoenix rolled his eyes. “You can join us if you want.”
“I-I don’t-”
“We should!” Pess looked up at him, tail wagging hopefully, “They’ll know a whole lot more about this than I do.”
“Don’t worry, it’s not hard.” Phoenix promised.
It’d be so much easier to turn around now. To just walk back out the door, and stay the way he’d been most of his life.
But the easy way didn’t necessarily mean it was the better way.
“Okay.”
