Found this comic of Flowey saying a dirty word:
Which I believe is based off this:
So I drew up a goatboy version and combined it with a well known Deltarune meme from Chapter 2…
Notes:
-Since this Asriel retains Flowey’s personality, and is like 12, I can see him make a poor attempt to use a “dirty” word in an attempt to sound cooler, though he makes a fool out of himself instead…
-I’ll leave Asriel’s pronunciation of [PIPIS] to your imagination. But I believe you can find the correct pronunciation by YouTubing the Pipis Room meme.
-Suzy, Kris, and Ralsei are younger here than their Deltarune counterparts. Keep in mind that in Undertale, a random encounter with Clam Girl said that Suzy is like around Frisk’s age. This would mean Asriel would also be around Suzy’s age as well.

Ok, let's start at the beginning. A lot of people wonders what is Ralsei, well
I believe that Ralsei is created from the Player's memories of Asriel, since he speaks similarly to him. It also explains how he got to the cyber darkworld quickly, as well as him knowing the school's layout, since he's made from the player's memories of Asriel, he basically goes everywhere the player goes.
Remember how's the knight, Flowey is trapped somewhere in Deltarune and is making darkworlds in a desperate attempt to go home? Well, I've been thinking about how's the player is going to be able to free him, and I only have one idea: Creating a darkworld inside a darkworld. Yes, my theory is that Ralsei made the roaring up, in order to stops the player from freeing the Knight. It would explains why he didn't tell us about the Roaring until chapter 2 as he didn't need to, it wasn't until Berdly almost made a darkworld inside another darkworld that he needs to find a reason why we shouldn't do that. As for why he's stopping the player from saving the Knight, Remember how the said that he goes everywhere the player goes? Yeah, it's quite possible that if the player leaves Deltarune, he essentially DIES. He does NOT want to dies, and so since the only reason the player is in Deltarune in the first place is to save the Knight, he decided to stops them from doing so, in order to force them to stay longer.
It would explains a lot about Kris' behavior. First the reason why they're noticeably uncomfortable around Ralsei is because they knows about his secret, and is DISGUSTED by what he's doing. It's also explains why they made a darkworld in their house. Aside from doing it In order to spite Ralsei it's likely that they were intentionally making it so that there will be a Flowey inspired darkner, both to gets the player to remember him, and to find out how the player feels about him. They also made sure Susie is there, so that she would ask the player about their reaction to "Flowey".
As for how it'll ends, I believe that we'll be sent to Sans' brother in Chapter 6(With us meeting him during chapter 5 at the latest)and he'll tell us about Ralsei's secret thanks to Kris telling him in between chapters, as well as how to free the Knight. The Chapter will ends with the Player creating the final darkworld, inside of the darkworld made this chapter. Chapter 7 will focus on the Player's final confrontation with the final boss.
The Final boss will NOT be Ralsei, but FLOWEY, who will likely be very PISSED off if he were to find out why his escape attempts had failed before.
It'll ends for Ralsei one of two ways
1.Flowey ends up murdering him brutally.
2.The Fun Gang managed to protect him from Flowey. He soon begin to says goodbye to the rest of the characters, finally accepting his fate...Only for someone(Probably Susie) to point out "Hey, it never stated that you need the PLAYER'S memories of Undertale's Asriel to exists, just that you SOMEONE'S memories of him to exists. Since we have memories of him, thanks to him being the knight, you could still exists.", however it'll causes Deltarune to essentially become a "We could've avoided this plot", as if he simply allows the Player to free the Knight a lot earlier, and allows the Fun Gang to interact with him normally, Ralsei would still be fine.

Forgettable?
So, the first place we learn that resets and loads lead to the reset-er being forgotten is during the ASRIEL DREEMURR fight, at the end of True Pacifist. Which lines up with our friends never remembering us or anything we did, just a vague feeling of deja vu when they meet us for the first time.
This brings up questions about a lot of the characters, and why being forgotten is such a recurring theme. Like, if being forgotten is a property of resetting/loading, why is Papyrus "forgettable"? Why can no one remember the Blooks' real names (and, somewhat relevant, where the heck did Ruins Dummy go and why is no one looking for them)? Why is sans worried about forgetting his 3 friends in the picture (and who the heck are they???)?
And then, over in Deltarune, it's not that nobody remembers Dess, but Noelle is the only one looking for her. And being forgotten must be something that's bugging Dess, because she's the one telling us "don't forget, I'm with you in the dark", almost like, maybe she's being brave about where she is. Also, the song was very corrupted in Chapter 2. If this ends up becoming a trend in future chapters, with an increasing amount of corruption, could that be a symbol of Dess' increasing corruption within in the void? Possibly of her being forgotten by more and more people who knew her?
Speaking of the void, I might as well bring in the most well-known forgotten character. Yeah, Gaster was shattered across time and space, most likely when he fell into either the Core or the darkness that he opened in Entry 17; but since it takes Determination to save/load/reset and Gaster was doing Determination experiments at the same time he was building the Core and running the Entry 17 experiment, we don't yet know that Gaster being shattered wasn't simply the result of, perhaps, a literal explosion of Determination that shattered him. (And if this is the case, it would certainly explain how Dess can be trapped in the void without being completely forgotten- she simply wasn't shattered).
And then there's the evidence that Kris may have reset, and that's why they can remember Susie and Ralsei, but they don't remember Kris.
And I still feel like SFB is relevant here. Even if it's not directly connected to Undertale or Deltarune, it is definitely a very. big. clue. as to how characters gain self-awareness, and they do NOT reach this achievement without causing major corruption to the world around them. We see this with Flowey and ASRIEL DREEMURR, how they can drag us into some nightmarish black... well, void, in order to try to destroy us. Spamton is the epitome of a corrupted save file, and Jevil can do anything, including manipulating the room (the world?) into a revolving carousel (not to mention that Jevil's cell door, and the cell beyond, appear to be outside of normal game space; plus, there's his insistence that he's the only one who's free).
And while were talking about self-aware Darkners, what about Ralsei? The little guy sure seems to know a lot more than he should, eh? And it's not like he's not unforgettable- he was surprised when Susie remembered his Pacify spell after fighting Spade King, and Queen straight-up forgot all about him when she caged up everyone else upon our arrival at her mansion.
And, while I don't feel like his character matches any of these examples- he sure ain't self-aware, he can't manipulate anything, he turned himself into a jackass and a moron- I'm still gonna throw Berdly into this mix, because he described himself as a "forgettable little bluebird," and I think anybody who is easily forgotten should be in this post.
One more thing about Papyrus: why does sans never mention him by name? And if Noelle really did hatch Papyrus from an egg, why can't she remember his name? And why does it bug her so much that she can't?

20 Questions for Fic Writers
i was tagged by @snarky-wallflower and i love talking, lets go!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
70 total, but 5 of those are chara's! so under my name its 65.
2. What’s your total word count?
1,427,738.....
cannot wait to break 2 million w the owl house daemon au. lets go!! never stop!!!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
whatever i'm into, but for fandoms i see myself continuing to write for in the near-ish future: deltarune and the owl house!
4. Top 5 fics by kudos
you're something special: my first kris-identity fic! i have mixed feelings on this one lol. you can tell its the first i wrote and i hadnt yet solidified my version of kris, tho i think this one probably fits better with canon. overall i like it though!
but then a bigger heart grew back: ooooooh i REALLY love this one. its postcanon owl house fic centering on hunter's grief over flapjack's death and his friendship with waffles!!! i wrote and posted it the DAY after the finale came out which is still really wild to me. its also the only fic ive seen that uses my favorite headcanon of 'hunter didnt carve waffles, she found him' which im so so fond of.
i hope your organs fail you (before i do): this was the first deltarune fic i wrote after chapter 2 came out!! the beginning of my deltarune spiral....its sort of a messy non-chronological look at deltarune's various routes and how kris might experiencing the game's multiple save files. also it has such a banger title. salt lake city by motherfolk is just banger after banger lyrics-wise
non-imaginary friends: god i hate that this is up here dkgjdfg i wrote it back when deltarune first came out and it SHOWS. i refuse to reread it but i think it's kris trying and failing to introduce the dark worlds to asriel. c'mon guys ive written so many better deltarune fics. blease. let this one rest in the past <3
we don't belong (but we're together): oooh, a warrior cats one! im....i mean, this one is like, fine, i guess. it follows hollyleaf and jayfeather in an au where the two of them flee through the tunnels. it has fun lore and i do like my oc pine but. man. its also the fic where i gave hollyleaf a power and if theres one thing i would change about my warriors au its that holly would NOT get a power. this is why i pre-write all my fics before posting now!
5. Do you respond to comments?
yes!! or at least i try my best to. i love and appreciate all my comments sometimes im just Bad at responding to them....i never know what to say beyond 'wow thank you' so sometimes i try to focus more on comments where i can actually say something of substance, yknow?
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh thats hard hmmmmmmm. i think i'd have to say it's and i want to tell you something-- which is a fic about kris & ralsei & the player/soul, where susie and noelle try to save kris from the soul, but both kris and ralsei know they cant survive without it. so in the end kris shatters the soul and is implied to die rather than keep being trapped.
its!!! certainly a time!
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
hmmmm. i think most of my ending are pretty bittersweet so in terms of pure happy ending...gonna go for a deep cut here and say its my naddpod fic +1 dad in which moonshine meets lucanus when shes a kid and they hit it off and they get to have that father-daughter relationship from the start. bc lucanus is the BEST naddpod npc and oh my god he loves his daughter so so much you guys--
8. Do you get hate on fics?
i have a few times but its never been like, super major. the funniest time is. i deleted the comment so i dont have the exact wording but im pretty sure someone called me a fandom-deserting cur for. not writing more warrior cat fanfiction?
like what were they expecting. truly.
9. Do you write smut?
no im very aroace lol. i barely write romance.
10. Do you write crossovers?
i used to!!! i did the adventure zone crossed with both how to train your dragon and pokemon mystery dungeon: explorers of sky. i was a different person back then. i dont think i'd do it now, but. who knows.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
no, but i HAVE had a fic pod-ficced which is still so amazing. like......woag. someone liked my fic enough to read the words out loud?????? huh????
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
not exactly co-written but both sometimes i think i left you just to see if i'd be missed and a buy one, get one free sort of friend were inspired by conversations i had with my friend @hyperfixations-go-brr! they would not have existed without those long discord chats. halloween festival will live on forever. synth my love.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
im not super into ships beyond like. basic 'oh thats fun' when reading but i WILL actually give the two im the most excited to write in my dess raises kris au someday:
noelle/susie/ralsei: YOU HAVE TO TRUST ME. like. this is an au where noelle basically replaces kris in the fun gang but not in the prophecy and dkjgdfg its about. this budding relationship. and ralsei clinging to the prophecy that doesnt want noelle here and susie who bucks against anything that acts like it knows what shes supposed to do and noelle struggling with the return of her sister and a world that wants to write her out of the story and all of them wanting to be there for their friends but ralsei is dealing with so so much and in the end she gets to throw off her chains and be free <3 noelle/susie/ralsei is so real in my heart.
dess/chara: literally the funniest queerplatonic relationship ever. theyre reluctant coparents. dess trusts chara with kris's life. chara would never ever let dess watch either frisk OR kris unsupervised. chara is 'i can fix you' to dess's 'im literally the most perfect wife in the world.' dess doesn't believe romantic love is a real thing people feel. chara puts xir kids above everything else. dess never asked to be a mother even though she literally kidnapped her best friends baby sibling. they get married for the tax benefits. they should absolutely get a divorce.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
oh god theres so many i would love to finish but its been so long i doubt i'll go back to them lol. the sequel to +1 dad that involves baby moonshine going to gladeholm. wall-e daemon au. gravity falls transcedence au daemon au. percy jackson daemon au. deltarune daemon au fangame.
as you can see its mostly various daemon aus. they were fun while they lasted! but ive moved on </3
16. What are your writing strengths?
pov you are me suddenly forgetting every single thing i have ever written.
i think im very good at writing otherkin or otherwise nonhuman characters. the comments that always bring me the most joy are those on my otherkin fics, by people who were able to see themselves in what i wrote--i think this is a thing that took me a lot of failed attempts to get just right and im really really proud of what i have.
im very good at writing daemon aus <3 there is sort of. an art to figuring out if one a work even needs daemons and two how daemons enhance or add to some aspect of the original work. theres a lot of things i like that i dont think really work with daemons but i always really enjoy figuring out how to add daemons and how to make my daemons like, characters in their own right, you know?
i like to think im good at dialogue and characterization! theres a few characters--kris and the collector, firefly to an extent--that im really proud of the voices i've made for them.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
fight scenes. fight scenes. oh my god i hate them so much they are SO HARD. stop making me put!! visual things!! in my text based medium!!!
really any scene that relies on having a strong idea of like, physical descriptions and sense of a place--i have aphantasia so having to describe scenery and landscape and just, anything really is always a struggle for me.
i also struggle with pacing, to an extent, especially across longer works (im looking at you, owl house daemon au)--knowing how long a plot arc needs to last and how to make it interesting still even when its going to be around for 600k+ words is a challenge and if the owl house daemon au was my first massive fic undertaking i dont think i'd be able to do it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
god im so bad at it but i really really am trying to be better--one big thing im going to focus on in my owl house daemon au edit is based on this because i want luz's identity to stick with her throughout the fic rather than it taking a backseat, but i am not a spanish speaker!! i know like, a LITTLE, but nowhere near enough to feel confident writing it.
so. its a time!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
warrior cats. and beyond just 'oh its the first fandom i posted fic for' no i was writing warrior cat fanfiction from the START. i was out there on the playground coming up with warrior cat ocs. i was printing this stuff out in the school library. i would hand-write fanfiction about my childhood cats becoming warrior cats and starting their own clan. i would roleplay warrior cats on my bedroom floor with pictures of cats i cut out of printer paper and bits of plastic folders i folded into triangles and write down the stories i came up with.
i was the most warrior cat kid to warrior cat kid. I Have Always Been This Way.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
ohhhhhh this is SUCH a tough question i have so many im so fond of, but i think i'm going to have to go with alterhuman. it's an animorphs fic about tobias post-canon and its an exploration of species identity and being a hawk and as a red-tailed hawk myself, a lot of it is deeply personal, a lot of it is my love letter to animorphs, and a lot of it is neffit, who is the best oc i have ever created, hands down.
as for tags, uh....anybody who wants to talk about their fics! even if we dont know each other!! go forth! ramble on about your own stuff for an hour!! truly so so fun.
also @wynterwulf7 and @mackerelgray and @hyperfixations-go-brr. obviously. <3 even if its about fic that isnt on ao3.

deltarune megapost
I wanted to make a Deltarune post about the lore and the things that aren’t  obvious. And once I do that I wanna focus on why Mettaton is incredibly important to this setting
And also why he poses a problem
Why did Toriel and Asgore get divorced?
Without the setting of Undertale, Asgore and Toriel’s marriage still broke up after they had Asriel. There needs to be a reason though. In UT it was Asgore’s ‘worst of both worlds’ decision regarding killing anybody that fell from the human world, including children. We saw how close they were before this happened. Only something deep and serious caused that rift. In Deltarune, what on earth did Asgore do?
What happened to Dess?
Mentioned a handful of times by Noelle, Dess was her older sister and is mentioned In Undertale.... in that Xbox exclusing casino thing. The way Noelle talks about her, the conspicuous way Noelle gets locked out of her big house - it implies Dess is gone or deceased. Berdly recalls a spelling bee when he and Noelle were younger where she, despite being smarter than him, misspelled ‘December’, allowing him to win.
Tumblr media
In the two-player spelling puzzle, it also spells out ‘December’ as Noelle recalls the past and her silhouette regresses to a child while she does so. Being distracted by her sister’s disappearance, rather than pure shyness, could account for her misspelling her name on stage, and it clearly left a big psychological mark for her to have this visual regression in the Dark World.
However, there’s a graveyard in Hometown with no Dess. I heard another theory that she has been missing for years, because where each character’s personal room is made by Queen to reflect their tastes via their search results, Noelle has a calendar where every day is December 25th. This could imply that Noelle continually searches the internet for ‘December Holiday’, her sister’s name, to see if there are clues to her disappearance, but of course the only result you would get is the date of Christmas.
Who is the Knight?
It’s now implied to be Kris, who has been forcibly removing the player’s influence to act on their own. By all accounts the Knight is the game’s main antagonist. Spade King and Queen both mention the Knight as someone who influenced their position - they brought Spade King to absolute power, and showed Queen that creation of new worlds was possible.
Tumblr media
We’re led to believe that Kris was doing this, because they’ve been acting outside of the player’s control. Eating the entire pie between chapter 1 and 2 might have been a red herring to cover that they also went to the library and used that knife to slash open a dark fountain there.
However. This has issues. How would they even manage to shuffle slowly all the way to the library and get in the computer lab? The Knight is also the one creating the hidden bosses. They talked to Jevil until he realised he was in a game and he lost his mind; they ruined Spamton’s life by elevating him to success and then crushing him. Whatever the Knight is doing seems to be deliberately planned with key players in mind.
Kris opening the fountain at home at the end of ch.2 can be explained in that you just figured out in Cyber World that anyone determined enough can do this, and so, Kris decided to. So a better question might even be...
What does Kris want?
We have no idea. They are capable of removing the SOUL, ‘us’, temporarily, and putting things in motion we cannot influence. But they also keep putting us back in control afterward. This is hinted at right when ch.2 starts, where if you inspect the cage in Kris’s bedroom they threw us into, the description says it’s inescapable. Meaning Kris came back and took us out, willingly.
They allow us to pilot them through the game. Why? Because they cannot live without the SOUL for long for some reason? Because they’re bad at bullet hell? Why did they slash Toriel’s tyres before opening the fountain, making sure nobody could drive away?? Why did they specifically open the door?
You can find out details about Kris through the creepy way you interact with the townsfolk, who think you are Kris. They play the piano at the hospital waiting room - better than you. They used to go to church just to get the special church juice. It’s all normal, relatable things, not like someone who’s trying to plunge the world into darkness. Judging by their search history portrayed in their Queen’s castle room, they really want to see their brother again. However the castle has a room based on Asriel’s search history too, and Kris (not you) closes their eyes and won’t look at it.
What is Ralsei?
His name is an anagram of Asriel. Is he an extension of Asriel? The slightly flirtier dialogue in ch.2 would point to no. Is he an extension of Kris themselves, given the link between Kris’s childhood habit of wearing a headband with red horns on it, to pretend to be a monster like their family?
Ralsei knows exactly where the Dark World in the school is located, and unlike regular Darkners, knows the world is folded up inside the ‘real world’. There’s a certain whiplash to Ralsei telling you to hop out of his reality into yours and go down the hallway to retrieve all the board game items.
How does he jump from one Dark World to another, without assistance? How does he not get petrified like Lancer and Rouxls? Is this a power level thing because he’s a prince or something else? We definitely do not know enough about Ralsei.
Tumblr media
He also says this incredibly suspicious thing after you spare Spamton NEO. Susie was also curious but accepts that maybe it ‘didn’t mean anything’, which is a sure tell that these optional bosses do mean something.
Someone is orchestrating what’s happening, opening fountains, manipulating the rulers, and influencing NPCs to become the optional bosses. Why? I suspect Ralsei for both knowing too much, and pretending something doesn’t matter when it clearly does. Until Asriel actually comes home from college I’m going to suspect he’s involved in this too.
How much does Seam know?
Seam on the other hand knows a lot about what’s going on but is openly withholding information while helping you. He’s nihilistic. He says things like:
One day soon... You too, will begin to realize the futility of your actions. Ha ha ha... At that time, feel free to come back here. I'll make you tea... And we can toast... to the end of the world!
Either this ‘end of the world’ is a reference to The Roaring, where opening too many dark fountains dooms the Dark World and the real one... or, I can’t get out of my head the idea that Deltarune takes place in a fake, or weird reconstruction of Undertale where things don’t match up, and eventually it will have to disappear. After all, powers of determination and creating and manipulating universes are Undertale’s basic bread and butter. How can we look at an Alternate Universe containing the characters we already know and not suspect that? Seam also uses Gaster’s key words, ‘darker, yet darker’, seemingly to clue us in that he’s not off track here.
Why haven’t we seen Papyrus?
This is a bright neon flashing ‘something’s not right’ sign. It’s not like Papyrus’s voice actor was too busy or anything. His absence is noticable and for a reason. Nice of Sans to promise we could meet him despite being aware we’re piloting a child’s body around, though, even if he didn’t follow through.
What locations in town could be used for dark fountains in the next 4 chapters?
If the sequence continues, we have chapter 1 in the school games room, chapter 2 in a computer lab, and chapter 3 in front of Kris’s television, where the aesthetic of each setting influences the world, characters, and enemies in the Dark World created there. Future possibilities include the church, the hospital, sans’s grocery store, Noelle’s house, and the closed bunker.
What the hell’s in the closed bunker
Tumblr media
This one’s too obvious, honestly. I think it’ll open for no reason in chapter 7 and a little white dog will bounce out and steal one of your key items and nothing else happens.
Why does Asgore have these
Tumblr media
Unlike the bunker feeling like a joke teaser, I gotta believe this is foreshadowing something weird. For example, what does opening a dark fountain in here with the seven flowers do? Does it just take you into Undertale?
Each chapter will have a hidden boss with a ‘soul mode’ from Undertale
Chapter 1 let you stay red, but I think each subsequent chapter is going to change your soul mode to one of the seven colours and design the encounter around that. Purple, yellow, green and blue were used in Undertale, leaving the light blue and orange modes yet to be revealed.
How does Spamton emulate Mettaton Neo’s name, body, and incorporate his battle theme, and the ‘Dummy!’ theme, with no actual connection between them ingame?
This is a really fun one that’s explained over in this post here. Swatch is the Dark World creation from the paint program on the library computers, so he’s able to explain that a Lightner made the robot body decaying in the castle basement that way.
Mettaton went to the library and drew his ideal form, Mettaton NEO, in MS Paint, and the Dark World formed that into a puppet body which Spamton was able to hijack temporarily. So by doing that Spamton was able to channel Mettaton’s appearance, attacks, music, and SOUL mode for the fight.
This might mean that the future hidden bosses, each with their own SOUL mode, might be based on the associated character for that mode (Muffet, Undyne, and Sans or Papyrus), and the boss will take on some aspect of them from their world to leech their fight mechanics.
The Problem With Mettaton
We don’t exactly know what Deltarune is about. It’s an alternate universe where the characters from Undertale already live on the surface, have completely normal lives, but diverge from the storyline of Undertale and, crucially, have not lived through the changes Frisk brought to their lives.
Remember how Undertale had a dozen different ending routes depending on who you befriended? The constant reinforcement in Undertale was that your choices mattered. Through Frisk, you chose to bring Alphys closure about her mistakes, you chose to befriend papyrus instead of attacking him, you chose to help Alphys and Undyne realise their feelings for each other and it’s only doing that that leads to the golden ending and escape to the surface.
Deltarune is the opposite, your choices do not matter. The only thing you can do to force the route of the game to change is to force Noelle into a No Mercy run, which is indirect, and also, a total desperation to mess with an otherwise set course. This version of the characters have not been helped by Frisk - Undyne and Alphys are not together, Papyrus has no friends, Asgore cannot get over himself, and they’re clearly the worse for it, but potentially, you COULD still do these things. In fact it’s hinted that you already are.
But there’s Mettaton.
He’s still a ghost and does not leave his house. In Frisk’s world, Gaster deleted himself, promoting Alphys to royal scientist by bluffing with Mettaton, and she then build him his ideal body. In Kris’s world... Alphys is a school teacher. There’s no barrier to break, no reason to experiment on souls, no Flowey mistake, and no body for Mettaton.
It was sad in Ch.1, but now with the Spamton NEO fight in ch.2, it’s unmissable. Mettaton wants that body and he cannot get it. Alphys in this universe is not going to leave her teaching job and suddenly be able to build a robot. Mettaton is just... screwed out of his happy ending and cannot get it.
So what resolution could this have? If it wasn’t for Mettaton I might believe in the vaildity of Deltarune and Hometown. But. How can you doom this character? If Undertale was the only way Mettaton could be befriended, then Undertale is Primary Universe A and Seam is right - the world of Deltarune is doomed as some kind of aberration. It all relies on how this gets explained in the future, but the core mystery of Deltarune is how exactly this universe intersects with Undertale and whether one is an offshoot of the other. How the Dark World links into that is another complication. But even as we get more fun characters and neat stuff in the Dark Worlds, let’s not forget we have absolutely no idea why Undertale’s characters are living here with no mention of underground or why there are no other humans beside Kris.

Thinking about Deltarune Chapter 2 today, particularly the ending, and I think I might have a theory that recontextualizes Chapter 1 and be able to predict the general trajectory of the next couple of chapters
So the end of Chapter 2 makes it pretty obvious that Kris is the one who’s been going around and opening up the Dark Fountains, doing so by literally ripping the soul that the Player is in control of out so that we can’t interfere with them opening the Fountain. This begs the question of why Kris is doing this, though, especially given Ralsei’s whole existence
The storage closet in the school can’t have always been a Dark World. Someone would’ve noticed it before, so it must have been created recently (possibly even just before the start of the game). And there’s only one inhabitant of that particular Dark World, Ralsei. And what are the odds that Ralsei would happen to look identical to and have a name that’s an anagram of Kris’s brother, Asriel?
Of course, this is all pretty obvious to anyone who’s played the game. It clearly wants you to ask these questions, and with the reveal that Kris is creating the Dark Worlds, it seems pretty obvious that they may have created Ralsei, too, to fill the void that Asriel left when he went off to college. The Dark Worlds are Kris’s way to escape to a world where they get to be a hero with all of the people they love. Possibly even a return to simpler times, too, as Ralsei looks and acts like he’s younger than the college-aged Asriel
So where does Susie come in?
What if she wasn’t supposed to?
She and Kris obviously aren’t friends when the game starts. Susie is a bully, always on edge and threatening Kris and telling them how much she hates them. It doesn’t make sense for Kris to think “yes, I’ll invite the girl who keeps threatening to eat off my face into my personal safe zone.”
I think that Kris was intending to take Noelle into the Dark World in Chapter 1
Notice how, out of everyone in the class, Noelle is the only one we can ask to be in a group with Kris for the group project. Everyone else responds that they’re taken, but with Noelle we’re pushed to ask her if we can join in a group of three. We can’t even do that with Noelle’s partner, Berdly. And it almost works, too, until Susie barges in and Kris is forcibly partnered with her, not unlike any of the moments later on in the chapter when Susie blatantly ignores our choices. I think that Kris was really gunning for Noelle to be their partner, then the two of them would go to the storage closet and into the Dark Worlds after class, where they’d meet Ralsei and it would be like their childhood gang of friends was back together again
It just makes more sense for Kris to set this up with Noelle in mind. The two of them were explicitly childhood friends, along with Kris’s brother, Asriel, and Noelle’s sister, Dess. And neither of the two are doing well. Kris’s parents are separated and their brother left for college, while Noelle’s dad is currently hospitalized, her mom is harsh and has no time for her, and her sister is implied to be dead. If we assume that Kris is a generally pretty decent kid, if a little eccentric and standoffish, then why wouldn’t they want to make a secret, magical hideaway for themself and their oldest friend, where they can be with “Asriel” like old times?
Susie probably wasn’t supposed to be there. She just muscled her way in. I think it’s notable that Ralsei’s prophecy just refers to the humans as “a human, a monster, and a prince from the dark,” and Susie’s immediate response is to say that he’s got the wrong person. What if she’s right, though? Sure, we see the monster illustrated and it looks like Susie, but that might be for the Player’s benefit. It’s entirely possible that “the monster” was intended to be Noelle, who’s directly connected to Kris and Asriel, and that Susie was just a fluke who wasn’t supposed to end up as part of the group
I do think that Kris genuinely warmed up to her in Chapter 1, and that’s probably why they keep letting her get involved in the Dark Worlds. She wasn’t supposed to be a part of the group at first, but now they’re friends so she’s allowed to stay. (Of course, that’s just my interpretation based on how Kris protects her in cutscenes. It could very well be that they don’t care and she’s forcing herself along.) The same can’t really be said for Berdly
If Chapter 1 was Kris trying to get Noelle involved in the Dark Worlds and failing, then Chapter 2 is Kris rectifying that and finally managing to get her involved... and Berdly ends up the same as Susie. He’s in the Dark World because he’s Noelle’s partner in the group project, just like Susie was Kris’s. Except Kris doesn’t really care for Berdly and, unlike Susie, isn’t made to come to like him. You can take the “Snowgrave” route and have Noelle kill him in the Dark World leaving him either dead or comatose (it’s unclear) in the real world. After all, he’s intruding on the Dark World as an add-on to Noelle. He’s totally inconsequential, and Kris shows little inclination to let him get involved in future exploits. He’s practically ignored when they all return to the real world, regardless of route
So what does this mean for Chapters 3 - 5? We know that Kris just opened up a Dark Fountain in the main room of their house, with Susie and Toriel asleep in front of the TV, which seems like it’ll serve as the base for the next Dark World. I think that the TV is less important overall, though, then the fact that Toriel is in the room. You know, Kris’s mom. Another person that they might want hanging around in their perfect world
So if we assume that this is a game about Kris attempting to escape from the unfortunate realities of their real life to create a “perfect” world and each chapter revolves around someone that they care about, then we can say that Chapter 2 was focused on Noelle. I’d hazard a guess that Chapter 3 is going to be heavily focused on Toriel, and if the pattern keeps up then it’s likely that Chapter 4 will be about Asgore (possibly taking place in his flower shop), and then Chapter 5 would be about Asriel/Ralsei, assuming that it’s the climax and the constant talk of Asriel returning home results in something. At least, that’s the trajectory I’m assuming it’s going for now since there’s still some confusion about the fact that Chapters 3-5 are going to be released together and that’s considered the full game, but there’s seven slots in the chapter select

Deltarune Theories and Observations Part 2
Since it’s been like three weeks and this game still hasn’t left my god damn brain, here’s some more things that I felt like noting or theorizing.
~Parallels of Noelle and Kris~
So, I ended my last Deltarune longpost with a comparison between Kris and Susie. But, interestingly enough, Kris and Noelle also have a lot of similarities. Both of them have an older sibling figure who was a very prominent crutch in their lives (Asriel for Kris, Dess for Noelle). Yet, in present times, this elder sibling is not present (though Dess’ is a bit more permanent, whether she died or went missing.) And compared to these older siblings, Kris and Noelle are the more introverted sibling, with Kris barely having a social life until the start of the game and Noelle being the biggest pushover since a card tower. Then, there’s their parental dynamics. Asgore and Rudy are both the carefree, laidback father figures, with Asgore immediately throwing Kris in a bear hug when seeing them and Rudy encouraging Noelle to ask Susie out and playing Dragon Blazers with her. This contrasts with the more proper, if strict mother figures. While Noelle’s mother is certainly the more egregious, if the fact that Noelle would rather stand outside her home’s gates likely for hours on end than to attempt to ‘bother’ her mother during work for a house key, there are a few signs of Toriel being a little strict in some areas. Apart from some dialogue from Bratty about her kissing Asriel and anything involving the big school dance being signs that Toriel does not approve of her kids, or any of her students for that matter, getting into anything even remotely romantic, the flavor text for the closet in Kris’ Dark World room being ‘You could wear whatever you want’ suggests that Toriel imposes some sort of a dress code on Kris and likely also Asriel when he was living at home. They’re also the two characters most susceptible to the SOUL, in other words you the player. Kris’ is a bit more direct, as they are the character we control in both their movements and what they say. While Noelle, considering she has such a weak will, she is fairly mailable if we impose our will onto her, as demonstrated in the Pipis Route. Finally, they both have a strong attachment towards Susie, though whether Kris’ is romantic or not is not entirely clear as of yet. Oh, and speaking of Noelle...
~The Return of Noelle~
In at least one of the future chapters, I believe Noelle will make a come back as a party member. I don’t think Toby Fox would make it this easy to just lose whatever equipment you put on her, especially if you give her the Jevilstail or if the Pipis Route has been fully completed you will lose a component of the Twisted Sword, which will presumably be available in future chapters. Therefore, I believe that Noelle will be playable again, at least at some point.
~Misanthropic Dysmorphia~
So, many people have seen the connections that Kris has to Chara (or The Fallen Child) from Undertale. They both love chocolate, are the adopted children of Toriel and Asgore, and seem to have an affinity for knives. But if there is one more connection they have, it’s that they both seem to hate humans. Now, while don’t know the reasons as to why Chara hated humans, it was enough for them to want to slaughter an entire village of people, going overboard with the body count when only 6 souls were needed to break the barrier. While Kris likely isn’t as genocidal as Chara was, their distaste for humanity runs just as deep. However, Kris’ misanthropy manifests as a form of body dysmorphia. As a child, they wondered when their horns would grow in like their brother and parents, showing that, at least at that point Kris didn’t understand the biological differences between themself and those around them. Not only that, but in Chapter 2, when going upstairs in the library and reading the book ‘How to Care for Humans’, when looking at the pages Kris immediately closes the book when seeing the pictures of humans in seeming disgust. It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if Kris hates the fact that they’re human, seeing as that is the big thing that makes them an outsider to Hometown. It would also explain why they seem to hate the SOUL/Player, even if you play as pacifistically as possible and don’t do anything to intentionally upset Kris like throwing away the Ball of Junk in the Light World. After all, Kris’ description in the Dark World as soon as you enter it in Chapter 1 is ‘A body containing a human SOUL’. Apart from just generally being upset that some outside force is controlling their actions, Kris is also likely pissed that a human is the one controlling them, because, assumedly, you or anyone else that plays Deltarune is going to be a human. That could be just some extra salt in the wound, that even Kris’ own soul is not only human but not even their own.
~Darkner’s History(?)~
This is something strange that I don’t think a lot of people think about. So, I notice a lot of people point out that Ralsei knows that both his Dark Fountain and the Fountain from Chapter 1 are located in a supply closet and a classroom respectively. Most people point to this as evidence that Ralsei knows something, however Ralsei isn’t the only one with knowledge of the Light World. Queen does have a line or two about knowing that her Dark World is within a library. So clearly, Darkners have at least some awareness of the Light World, or at least enough about their enclosed spaces and possibly limited to appointed rulers or some such. What isn’t so clear is how long these Dark Worlds have lasted. Sure, portals to the Dark Worlds seem like only a recent thing, there is talk about the history of these characters. Just within Chapter 1 there’s King overthrowing the other three card kings and taking the throne all to himself, Jevil meeting a mysterious figure causing him to go mad and thus needing to be locked up by Seam, a presumably long series of puzzle makers syphoned out before Roulxs became the Duke of Puzzles, and some kind of falling out between Queen and King (which also brings up the question of when and why was Queen’s laptop in the abandoned classroom). My point being, despite these Dark Worlds being open for maybe a day or two at best, there seems to be almost years worth of history to these places. It could be a case of ‘one day passes inside, but only about an hour has passed outside’ thing or it could be that Dark Worlds still technically exists even without a Dark Fountain. So far, though, I can’t offer any concrete answers to this. And actually, since I brought up his suspicious behavior once again...
~Communication Issues~
I already talked about how Ralsei is suspicious in an out-of-universe perspective here, but in universe he is acting rather suspicious. Namely, around Susie. When Kris and Susie return to Castle Town, Ralsei tells Kris to gather everything in the adjacent classroom and bring it here. Everyone becomes their Darkner counterparts and Susie is naturally excited to see everyone, especially Lancer. Ralsei then says, and only says, that ‘when the Dark Fountain was sealed, that area returned to a normal classroom. And when Lancer decides to become one of you KEY ITEMS, Ralsei doesn’t explain that Darkners become regular objects in the Light World, causing Susie to think Lancer ditched them when Kris and Susie leave to work on their group project. And during the Chapter 2 epilogue, Susie even suggests finding a way to bring Ralsei and Lancer into the Light World, despite that seeming to be an impossibility. That’s not even mentioning the post Spamton NEO dialogue where Susie is the first to bring up the oddities of the whole scenario, and Ralsei immediately chooses to shoot down any questioning. Ralsei seemingly keeps Susie out of the loop on a lot of important things about how the Dark World works. Now, Susie doesn’t really question these things, but that’s mostly because 1. she is a very ‘only cares about the here and now’ type of person and is very excited about the whole Dark World shenanigans her, Kris and Ralsei get up to, and 2. this girl is dense enough to not immediately catch on the Noelle is crushing so hard on her a neon sign saying ‘SHE LIKES YOU’ would be a more subtle message. Now, it could be that Ralsei sees Susie in a much more ‘need to know’ basis, that since she is isn’t really the group plan-maker, she doesn’t need to know the intricacies of how the Dark Worlds, the Fountains, and everything works. It also could be that the player, and by extension Kris, are more important and thus will be needed this information more than Susie. However, I still hesitate to say that Ralsei is malicious in action. What I think would be the most likely reason, if his explanation of the Roaring and Queen’s reaction to it are any indication, it looks like Ralsei’s fatal flaw is assuming his knowledge is common knowledge. After all, he assumed that Queen was opening another Dark Fountain because she wanted to destroy the world, when that couldn’t be further from the case. In all likelihood, Ralsei could be overestimating how perceptive Susie really is when it comes to putting details together.
~Only One Ending...?~
This is something a few people have been debating for a while now. Back when Chapter 1 was released in 2018, Toby Fox said that Deltarune would only have one ending. However, with the addition of Chapter 2′s Pipis Route, many of us are wondering if that was a flat out lie or not. My assumption goes one of two ways. Option A: It was true at the time. During the three year development of Chapter 2 a lot, and I mean a LOT, of things about Deltarune have changed. Initially the game was going to be another mostly solo development similar to Undertale. But, with the larger workload and Toby Fox working on other projects like developing music for the Pokemon games, and on top of all of that going through some pretty bad wrist pains, Fox decided to get a small development team for Deltarune. There were debates on whether to switch Deltarune’s game engine to something like Unity, before settling back to Game Maker. And even when Chapter 1 was released, it was more of a proof of concept than anything, with barely any of the rest of the story being written down. It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if Toby Fox decided to add some more endings because he thought that would work better for what he was going for. Or, Option B: It will be one ending, but in the same way the Normal Ending in Undertale is ‘one ending’. See, while Deltarune likes to emphasize that ‘your choses don’t matter’ and in Undertale ‘your choses do matter’, in actuality, the choses in both games have roughly the same weight. Sure, in Undertale it seems like your choses have more of an impact, but the basic story beats of the game are all the same. You will always fall into the underground, get quasi-adopted by Toriel, go through a wacky puzzle romp with Papyrus, get hunted by Undyne through Waterfall, guest star in Mettaton’s shows with Alphys as your guide, and finally make it to New Home. And there were still some minor questions in Undertale that really had no bearing on what you answered, such as Toriel’s question of if you prefer cinnamon or butterscotch. But because Undertale frames it with ‘your choses matter’ and Deltarune frames it in ‘your choses don’t matter’ we see it as such. So, when it comes to the endings, there really are only three endings in Undertale. The True Genocide ending, where you go all the way through with killing everyone and everything in the Underground, the True Pacifist Ending, where you SPARED everything you came across and completed the necessary friendship side quests, and the Normal Ending. Now, the Normal Ending sounds like a pretty narrow term, considering there’s like at least around 10 different variations of this ending, but the basic plot beats are still the same: You finish the fight with Asgore, fight Omega Flowey, and using the power of the other six souls you (as Frisk) are able to return above ground. Most of what makes this ending different is pretty much flavor text at the very end, with Sans and which ever other characters that are alive/befriended chiming in. I feel like Deltarune’s ending could play out in a similar vein, with larger plot beats being consistent, but specific character’s reactions and what not would change up the ending slightly. And, if we are only given one ending, I feel like there would be a good reason to word it like that. Similarly to what was said some time after on Toby Fox’s twitter about the True Pacifist ending, ‘This is the best ending, nothing more’ when people were wondering if there was a way to save Asriel from his fate in the end. So, if we are told there will be only ‘one ending’ that implies that there’s going to be something we’ll want to change. And what will this change be? Well...
~Don’t Forget, I’m With You In The Dark~
I believe that the ending of Deltarune will involve sealing the Castle Town Fountain. A lot of what’s set up in Deltarune seems to be leading to this. From the suspiciousness of Ralsei, to the premonition of the world ending if too many fountains are open, to the fact that Darkners are unable to consciously interact with the Light World. I’m pretty sure that we’re going to have to say good bye to Ralsei, Lancer, Rouxls, Seam, Queen, and all the rest of the Darkners by the end. And let’s face it, this ending would be the best punch to the gut that the game could offer. But I don’t think it will be all sad. After all, the Darkners will still be with us in spirit, will still be with us in the dark.

Fourth (and Final) Impressions of Deltarune Chapter 2
Edit: forgot to put a readmore. Forgive me! Spoilers under the cut!
- So I wasn’t even in the palace very long before we got to a series of puzzles that Berdly couldn’t solve, much to his frustration. I figured Berdly was building up to something, either a boss fight or a growth moment, and it was the second one. Turns out when you thrive off of praise, you develop a bit of a dependency... good on him to be self-aware.
- In the flashback sequence with the spelling bee, I noticed the word Noelle got nervous and stuck on - “December”. See, I remember another sequence in the city where we had a character moment with Noelle while pressing a series of switches that spelled out “December.” Clearly the word is significant to her in some way, and probably a negative way considering how it made her freeze up. Either something big happened in December, or something big happened involving a person close to her named December, since I remember her mentioning a “Dess”. I’m looking forward to where this goes.
- The theme in the Queen’s palace slaps, just gotta say that before we go further.
- So backtracking a bit, Lancer has been stone-ified, and Ralsei knows exactly what’s up: the dark fountains create worlds, the dark fountains that was sustaining Lancer’s world is gone, and that’s why Lancer is stone now. He’ll be fine, though, if we can get him back to Ralsei’s castle town and the fountain there. Good of him to offer a solution, except...
- ... hold the fuck up, Ralsei. So you’re telling me that this happened to Lancer because of the loss of his dark fountain - which Ralsei encouraged us to go through - and because of that, the Dark World that Lancer comes from is no more? And what’s more, Lancer now depends on the Castle Town fountain - that is, Ralsei’s fountain - to live. He is now life-bound to your town, Ralsei. He literally cannot leave you and still live, and even if he could, the world he knew is gone. Oh, but it’s ok, because you conveniently have a place for him to live under your roof now.
- And, hold on, who was it who told us we had to go through the Dark Fountain to get home?? I played through the first chapter just recently, that was you, Ralsei. I definitely remember Ralsei saying we had to do that, he gave us that quest in the first place, and I definitely do not remember him mentioning at any point that this would end with Lancer’s world being destroyed. This is absolutely not fine, Ralsei. Oh, and considering how conveniently us getting isekai’d in the library lines up with Ralsei suddenly insisting we had to go and do homework... Ralsei, are you the one isekai-ing us???
- *deep breath* Okay. I’m calling it now. There’s something Ralsei isn’t telling us. I joked earlier about how he wants to bake us into cakes and eat us, but to be clear, I think whatever’s going on here is more complicated than “Ralsei was the bad guy all along”. I get the feeling that Ralsei’s desire for friendship, especially towards Kris, is very genuine. It’s just... this whole situation is reminding me of Asriel’s deal in Undertale. Fitting considering the whole anagram situation... I wonder how Deltarune!Asriel is going to play into this.
- Okay, back to more current stuff in the game. I met up with Roulsx Kaard (idc how to spell it) again and he’s facing me in... the thrashing machine I made in the first chapter. I’m serious. Same color and everything, holy shit.
- behold the majesty
Tumblr media
- COMETH FORTH, MY SQUEAKY DUCKY!!!
- ...whut?
Tumblr media
- this is excellent. I’m going to die of excellent.
- ohh, now he’s gonna transform... aaaaand...
- oh. ... you know, I wondered when it was gonna catch up to him?
- ice cold, Ralsei. Ice cold.
- “Why don’t we close our eyes and imagine how she’s doing now” Just like last game... is Ralsei actually activating some kind of power when this happens?
- “I wish Dess could see this”? I knew it! I’m on to something!
- taking a moment to acknowledge the shipping energy in the air
- Noelle (paraphrased): “Where are we, anyway?” Me: say “Dark World” Susie: “You’re just having a dream” Again with Susie thwarting player intentions...
- .. a heart-covered Ferris Wheel. Okay, Toby Fox, we’re doing this now!
- Susie has a tail???
- BERDLY WHAT
- And again, we return from a Susie Sequence to Ralsei apparently explaining something to Kris and finishing with a variation of “so that’s why-” before getting cut off by Susie. What are you explaining, Ralsei.
- Checked a calendar in Noelle’s palace room. “Every page is the last month, every day is the 25th”... what??
- another banger of a final battle!! let’s do this!!!
- See, I had a feeling that the Queen didn’t actually want to hurt anybody, but she has a... funny... idea of what constitutes helping. It clicks with her being basically a personified search engine - she literally wants nothing more than to give people what they want and make them happy, but she’s not always great at figuring that out based on what they search. She mentions Noelle’s “sad and lonely searches”... Noelle, honey, are you ok?
- Excuse me, Queen, this Dark World was created *today*? ... And it was created by the Knight... and I already suspect that Ralsei is “isekai-ing” us... Ralsei, are you the knight?
- New important info: “Lightners” are apparently necessary to create Dark Fountains due to their determination, and unlike Undertale, determination isn’t exclusive to humans
- BERDLY!!! BERDLY IS PUTTING THAT REDEMPTION ARC TO GOOD USE!!!
- ...
Tumblr media
... this game just became perfect
- Oh hey, White Diamond, what’s up?
- “Oh Damn I Did Not Know That” WELL NOW YOU TELL US, RALSEI!
- Susie doesn’t have a tail? Make up your mind, game!!!
- Phew. Okay. Okay. The actual game part is over. Time to process some thoughts...
- So we’ve seen two Dark Worlds so far, Lancer’s world based on games (cards, checkers, etc) and the Queen’s world based on computers and the internet. The running theme I notice so far is escapism. During her fight, the Queen monologued about a desire to fulfill the desires of people who turn to the internet to dull their pain or look for new distractions. And as for Lancer’s world... well, it’s implied to literally be made of abandoned toys. Both of them things people turn to when they need a little entertainment or escapism to avoid their real-life problems for a bit. And I think it’s been mentioned that Darkners are essentially made to serve Lightners; perhaps helping them cope with the difficulties of life?
Even putting aside the symbolism here, Susie and Kris literally escaped to this world to blow off their classwork, and Susie in particular seems to think the Dark World is better than anything in the Light World. In the final battle, Susie, Noelle, AND Berdly were all just about to open up a Dark Fountain themselves and make themselves better lives in the Dark World and only stopped when Ralsei very firmly informed them about the Roaring. Is this going to come up again? Are these kids going to struggle with the temptation to abandon their real lives to go play eternally in the Dark World?
And isn’t that just a perfect microcosm of the relationship that people have with video games in general - including this one? The perfect opportunity to just forget about your own life for a bit and temporarily live in a different world altogether, one with battles and magic and adventure?
Just what the fuck is going on here, Ralsei? Was I too quick to accuse him of being a secret villain earlier? Is Ralsei just trying to get us to process our shit in the Dark World, and then destroy it so we move on to the Light World with renewed hope in life? .. or is he just trying to make himself the center of our fantasies?
- HOLY SHIT THE QUEEN IS HERE! THE QUEEN IS HERE AND SHE’S GONNA BE A MOM FOR LANCER!!! (or “girldad” as Lancer puts it)
- ...have the Queen and King met? I mean, it would make sense, but they haven’t been mentioned as having a relationship of any kind or even knowing each other. Is this another Toriel/Asgore kind of situation?
- HOLY SHIT I KNEW IT SHE IS HIS MOM
- So I’m just talking to NPCs around Castle Town, right, and I meet up with Seam again. He just told me to be careful not to stay in there too late and that I don’t want to get caught when the sun goes down... DAFUQ YOU MEAN, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN???
- This is wonderful, I’m now witnessing Toriel and Sans having a joke-off in person.
- (Sees Kris going in to wash their hands) (Hears Toriel say “they do that sometimes”) ...so Kris has like... a condition? The heart-ripping thing has happened before?
- (Sees last thing before credits) ...okay then!!! I think that’s all the things I can get into one post, haha! Forgot to mention some things, but I can only type so much!!! Can’t wait to talk about this later, haha!!! (holy shit)

What are your headcanons for Kris and Noelle?
warning for deltarune spoilers!
firstly, I really like all the characters from undertale/deltarune. toby pays so much attention to each one; even background ones; and has a way with making everyone very charming and likable.
kris: I feel bad for every time I play. like on a meta level the game guilts you into playing: you have to play to progress, but playing means you are possessing kris; a young kid, into doing your bidding. even if you make "good" choices, you still are controlling them to do so. kris is your puppet. (it's not a surprise they ripped the veil in the end of chapter two. its not them being evil, it's their only means of feeling in control, and a cry for help)
there are options in the game where you can force kris to hug ralsei, despite other characters stating how much kris hates hugs, and it feels violating and perverse, it feels wrong. i believe kris genuinely would like susie regardless of the players intervening, but ralsei obviously looks like asriel and the idea of trying to push them together into some weird make-believe like you're playing dolls freaks me out.
i deliberately avoid ralsei in-game because of this (also bc they're obviously hiding something lmao), and even though I don't know much about Kris, using tidbits from other characters I try to make choices based on what I think kris would approve of most.
+
noelle: I think is super super cute. i love the ghibli-static hair thing her sprite does whenever she gets embarrassed talking to/about susie. and how she is very warm and friendly, but likes a lot of weird and dark stuff too.
I'm also really interested in the lore surrounding her and her family. her dad is in hospital with an illness that he makes light of despite it seeming pretty serious. also I think him and asgore have some sort of romance between them? her mom is the mayor and apparently a hard-ass, and I'm excited to meet that character in the upcoming chapters.
there's also the fact that noelle has a sister name 'Dess', or december, but its heavily implied they died. there's a bit where berdly and noelle were in a spelling bee, and the only reason berdly won was because the last word was 'December' and it made her freeze up.
the snowgrave end is really eerie too. the idea of manipulating noelle into killing people—killing berdly, while she's under the premise of everything being a dream, and afterwards is so out of it and exhausted she just walks around by herself until she eventually finds a way out. (the way berdly's dead corpse just lies there at the table and no one notices)

‘k so everyone who follows me knows I’ve been on a huge Undertale kick lately, but I’ve also been thinkin abt deltarune and I had a theory that was consuming my brain every waking minute last night and that is the fact that this motherfucker right here
Tumblr media
is the most confusing character we’ve ever met. It’s not because we know next to nothing about them, but instead, it’s because we don’t have enough information, though I imagine that goes without saying. I mean, for Chara, we at least know they loved their adopted family enough, and hated humans. Frisk is meant to be a kind of blank slate for the player to mold so they can be either the nicest angel you will ever meet or a fully psychotic, bloodthirsty motherfucker. But Kris here...Kris is having a crisis of conscience, of sorts.
I imagine someone’s already been thinking about this theory, if you can call my rambling a “theory,” but the reason Kris is such a confusing character is because of the three forces fighting for dominance over their body. “Three? Why three?” I hear you ask. “There’s only two forces living inside Kris...us, and whatever took them over in the final cutscene!” Well, my friend, that’s fucking wrong, because I would like to remind you that during the playable epilogue in Hometown, we’re clued in to what Kris is like by talking to other people.
Before that, there are three things trying to control Kris: Kris’ original personality, us, the Player, and what I will be referring to as the “Outside Force.” I hesitate to call this Chara, because while we do know Chara offers to erase the Undertale world so they and Frisk can “move on to the next one,” we don’t know if their reach extends further than the multiple timelines of Undertale, and I personally find that to be implausible, unless Toby confirms it when the full game comes out.
I also hesitate to call the Outside Force Gaster, as Gaster, if he truly did create deltarune as the fandom posits, seems to be more like a deist God that has created deltarune and seems more interested in letting it “run” than getting directly involved. The Outside Force’s true identity is currently unknown, and is malign at best and outright omnicidal at worst. But the reason this is all so confusing is that we don’t know how many facets of these three forces overlap.
For example, we know that Kris is a big eater. It’s stated by Toriel when she tells us not to touch the pie she’s been baking before the ending scene, and by the minister claiming Kris once tried to drink all of Father Alvin’s church wine (exact quote unavailable). However, in the Dark World, during the fight with Spade King, we see Kris move to defend Susie without the player’s input. This is most likely their original personality taking over, as the Outside Force, if destruction is what it’s after, would instead just stand around and let Susie die; so we know Kris cares about the ones he’s befriended at least somewhat, and they definitely care a hell of a lot about Asriel, if the hot chocolate scene can be taken at face value.
What confuses me comes mostly from the ending scene: after Kris rips out the SOUL and locks it in the cage, we can move it around, indicating it belongs to us. For me, this raises several questions, namely if Kris does care about other people in Hometown, how far does it extend? Do they actually care about Susie, Ralsei, Lancer, and the other students at school? Or if they go on a rampage, will he only spare Toriel and Asgore (and/or Asriel), since they’re their immediate family? Or will no one be spared?
In short, where does Kris’ personality end and the Player’s/Outside Force’s begin?
I can’t claim to know the answer, and I doubt this wall of text makes much sense, but I also noticed something from Undertale that may explain things eventually, and it lies in the relationship between Chara and Frisk.
Tumblr media
Specifically, let’s get into the ultra-meta aspect of it. Chara is a human, and we know by the history told of them in Undertale that they were fully autonomous: they could bake, draw, knit, scheme, and think on their own. Frisk falls into the Underground, and we, the player, control them directly, and mold them from a blank slate into a reflection of ourselves, or our mindset for a particular run. Frisk is like a vessel, but...we only take control of them after they fall. When they land on Chara’s grave.
...Sounds to me like Frisk is actually a Vessel. Just like the one we made at the beginning of deltarune. And that would make Chara, for lack of a better term, the Controller. Enough of their consciousness was still lingering to latch onto Frisk and guide at least some of their actions (narration in Pacifist/Neutral, direct action in Genocide).
But since we know that, what does that make Kris? If I had to guess, Kris is also a Vessel, like Frisk (it’s in the name, practically). However, due to their mysterious past, I’d imagine enough time has passed that Kris is slowly, very slowly, developing autonomy and a personality of their own, but is still susceptible to outside influence. But that said, who is acting as the Controller to Kris’ Vessel? Short answer: we don’t know yet. Could be any number of people. Could be the Vessel we made in the opening sequence of the game. My hypothesis is that it might actually be Asriel, since Kris looks up to them, and it’s also stated somewhere in the game that Asriel used to carry them to school when they were younger, but that guess is on shaky ground anyway.
So, yeah. That’s all I got. Not so much of a “theory” as it is me rambling and trying to connect dots separated by several continents. If you got any holes to poke in this thing, lemme know.

DELTARUNE: To-Gif (Maybe)
Tumblr media
each bullet point is a separate ask i received. thought a lot of the asks were cute so i pasted them word for word, in order of when they were sent, including multiple ones that asked for the same thing. maybe i’ll add more if people request more.
if it’s crossed out and bold, the gif has been made and now lives somewhere in this tag.
CONTAINS DELTARUNE SPOILERS.
Can you make a battle scene gif?? Any random battle will be okay
Can I get a gif of Lancer menacingly approaching the team with the lightning and the bucket?
Can you please do a gif of Kris reading the Graves? That part messed with me. Thank you
Saw your generous gif offer so here I am > ^ < There was that dialogue with Temmie, at the end, where she says she gotta go to colleg and study hard, and then the narrator says she's reading a comic full of hot demon guys. Just this part, if you can and won't regret this xD it sums up... many of our laifus after all
You know in roulxs kaards shop where he's like lounging on his side and pointing and tapping to the beat? That'd make a sweet gif
What an impressive offer! Thank you so much! Lancer facing and stopping Susie impressed me so much - when he told her that at least all would be safe, when he would imprison them.
Can we have a GIF of the 'candy fruit join the groupe'? (I don't remember the exact term so if you have no idea what i'm talking about just ignore this xD)
If you didn't fight Jevil ter, so that's a good Gif... Of when he's defeated
ahh could you perhaps make a gif with Rouxls Kaard, at his shop, without the dialogue window (cropped out), just... him chilling, snapping his finger to that chill beat of "hip_shop.ogg" ?
Oh you know that cute thing Ralsei does when they use spare? I’d love to see that as a gif! It’s so cute gosh
ASGORE HUG GIF PLEASE
Could you please gif ralsei’s face reveal at the end if you haven’t yet?
i think tumblr did not like it when i sent this ask earlier so sorry if i've already asked this but: w....when kris starts a battle n they point n the hearts come out
Can you make a gif of the distant trousle of bones?
Asgore hug GIF, you know we all love him <3, GIF of Kris and Susie falling down, and GIF of both starting and ending battles
Maybe a gif from where Asgore gives us a big hug? I had to stop for a couple of minutes to get a hold of myself. He looks so happy!
A gif about meeting jevil, please?
could you do a gifset of the first time you get suzie to flirt and she doesn't know what to say
I would love the gif of Asgore hugging Kris please.
When you act in battle, your characters do some cute things. Make gifs with them, especially with Ralsei!
Duke of puzzles refusing to show you his "actual puzzle?"
Can I get uhhhhhhh gif of The King? Maybe him coming out of the shadows and laughing, or him betraying notasriel's trust. Thank you for the gifs so far by the way, they're squeaky clean!
a gif of Kris hugging Ralsei? And/or a comparison gif of Frisk and Asgore with the 6 souls, and Kris and Asgore with the seven flowers?
Gif of dog stat in stats menu?
Can I ask for a gif of when susie rejoins the party and subsequently stays a sufficient distance away as to not be associated! Thanks ^^
Susie talking about how she went as a box for Halloween once is probably my favourite scene that I'd request be giffed
Can we have the gif of the one you got if it's not "Prison only for dads"? Also, how did you get it?
Could we get a gif of Toriel driving Kris down to school? That part just gave me huge feels when I first played it through
I'd like a gif of that heart stopping ending. (If.. that ending turns out to be in every playthrough? My friend was attempting a genocide run and I haven't confirmed if run types even exist)
Please, PLEASE do a gif of Susie "joining" the party.
Hello! I was wondering if it was possible for you to gif the moment where Ralsei askes Rouxis to see his puzzle and says "no" and floats off?
Requesting GIF of Ralsie saying it's ok if Kris want's to hit him.
I made a low quality GIF. Could you make a better one? (eruto note: it’s that one boss with the muscle legs)
would you be able to gif Seam maybe?
Could you please gif the part where Kris hugs Ralsei during the training session with him? And also the part where Kris gives him the scarf? Those were cute <3. Thank you!
Do you think you can gif Kris and Ralsei bowing? That was one of my favorite parts of the game *u*
I would like to see a gif showing all three dialogs/items that can be found by interact with asriels cabinet (they are different depending which savefile you are playing on)
can you do a gif of the bird dude going "it's almost as if you should have... as they say... "listened"
Could you do a gif where Susie basically yeets Ralsei during battle?
Could you do a gif of Ralsei saying Oh that’s not good actually because that would make a perfect reaction gif? Thanks if you do!

I didn't think Azzy looked enough like Kris or Susie so I changed his color scheme. I'll upload info on Merry later. (I promised to upload Merry's bio. Please know it does contain my own headcannons for Deltarune.) Name: Princess Merry Holiday Dreemur Personality: easily flustered, shy, self conscious, pretty nice once you know her, somewhat antisocial but willing to be helpful Species: Darkner that's a mixture of monster, human, deer, and goat Age: 5 Family: Kris: Father, Ralsei: Other father, Susie: Mother, Noelle: Other mother, Asriel: Uncle, Toriel: Grandmother, Asgore: Grandfather, Kristy: Older half sister, Azzy: Older half brother, Noelle's Dad: Other grandfather Appearance: pink fur with white ear insides, pink cheeks, goat horns, red eyes, brown hair with blue ends, green shirt, red bow, blank pants, white skirt, black hooves Powers/Abilities: Very weak magic skills, and can sometimes be able to summon a sword like Kris Bonus:  ( this contains my own headcannons may be updated later) After the events in Deltarune, after Susie suggested that they should go back, they did. Over time the three became closer as friends (much to Kris's family's delight) and they end up going back to visit their darkner friends during and after school through the closet. Over time the fun gang become closer and the three develop more feelings. When Kris and Susie prepare to graduate and leave school, it becomes more apparent that they may visit less. It was Ralsei who was the first to admit his feelings towards the other two, and was honestly surprised to say the least when they shared his feelings. The two eventually moved into the dark world, but do go back to the world of light to visit family. Mostly Kris. Susie is very secretive when it comes to her past. About two years after the twins were born, Kris and Susie reconnected with an old friend of there's through the local cafe. Noelle had been in a tough spot since after school. Her father had survived the illness he had, but had permanently weakened making it hard for him to move around for long periods of time, she struggled to help take care of him with her minimum wage jobs as a teacher's assistant and a part time job as a waitress at the local diner. On top of that, she had been in a once unhappy relationship with Berdly for sometime before meeting old faces. She was delighted to see her old friends with their two children, but was surprised to see a third partner with them. The four spent time catching up like old times but eventually parted ways. During the next year, the four (or usually just Noelle and Kris and Sometimes Susie) would have small greetings and meet ups in the diner and start to be come close friends again. But Noelle was having a harder time keeping her life together. Her father had to be moved to live with a few distant relatives because of the strain her financial situation was. The strain of working two jobs had taken a toll on her and she was about ready to just quit. When she got an unexpected visit from an old friend, Kris. The two talked for a while and decided to help her find a job elsewhere. It helps for a little bit when she starts working at the library full time, but overdue bills catch up to her and she was forced to foreclose her home and temporary move in with a friend.Noelle had always been a timid push over, so this was just was the end result of it. Now being homeless and a minimum wage job, there wasn't much hope for her. But things did look up when Kris offered her a special job at his home. Reluctantly she agreed, and Kris led them to the school and through the closet door. Noelle was pretty shocked when they were basically teleported to a whole different world, but Kris was quick to reassure her and take her to the palace where she was met his partners and children. It as....strange being in a darkland with strange creatures and such, but she shouldn't complain with her new position. Right? During her time there, she reconnected with her old classmates and was surprised to find out her feelings for Susie hadn't gone away. But she already had two husbands and children. There was no way she could be interested in her, right? Well, when Susie did find out, she was surprisingly ok with it. She was in a polygamy relationship after all, but she had to get the ok with her other two partners. Ralsei was a little confused at first but did agree with Kris to let them work it out. After trying to get to know Ralsei and Kris a little better, they all become closer slowly but surely. Ralsei she found out is very similar to her personality wise and morals, and Kris is still the goof ball kid that used to hide under her bed to scare her. The four eventually start to go on outings together and spending more time as a family. Merry was born the same way the twins were. By Ralsei weaving a soul from magic using their DNA but was birthed by Mother Noelle. Her name is a pun on the term Merry Christmas from Noelle's side of the family and has both Noelle's and Kris's last names. Merry is the youngest of the royal children of the two Darkland kingdoms, and the most skittish of the three siblings. Merry refers to Noelle as Mother, Susie as Mama, Kris as Daddy, and Ralsei as Papa. While she takes after Noelle figure wise, her personality is mostly Ralsei's with a sense of justice. She's a soft spoken child as Kris was and usually won't speak unless spoken too. At five years old, she's pretty smart for her age but usually keeps to herself. Like her siblings, she can summon a weapon but it's a sword like Kris. Relatonships:   Azzy: She's closer to her brother than her sister because they're similar personality wise and both have similar struggles with magic. They often study together and help each other out with their magic lessons. Kristy: Quiet just like her, she's her protector often following around her and Azzy and keeping them from trouble. Her temper does scare her from time to time though and she wishes she'd be less forceful. Kris: Best Human ever. Like the twins, Merry has no idea Kris was adopted by the Dreemur family and as she's part goat, doesn't know why he doesn't look like the rest of his family. He's soft spoken like her and often takes him to visit their grandparents and Uncle Asriel in the lightner world. Susie: She's Mama to Merry and the most protective of her other than Kristy. She likes to try to teach her how to fight to protect herself but usually there practices turn into playfights. When on the surface, Susie will often steer her and her siblings clear of certain parts of the town for 'reasons'. Noelle: Mother dearest. Best mother she could ask for. She makes the best holiday cookies and often baby's the children and spoils them much to Susie's protest. Though she will sometimes cry when she takes her to visit her grandpa on her side for some reason. Ralsei: Floof Dad. She loves to snuggle up to her fluffy daddy when tired and listen to his stories of the old Darkner history and eat all the baked goods he and Noelle made together. He's the closest to her out of her four parents and the one to share her values of Mercy and kindness. Toriel: Her grandmother is an older more motherly/fluffy version of Papa Ralsei. She loves it when Kris or Susie takes them to visit her grandparents for Thanksgiving or Christmas. (Though As gore is her favorite grandparent.) Asgore: Best grandpa in the world. He's a bit of a push over and she wishes he'd sometimes grow more of a backbone, but he gives the best hugs and she loves to see all the pretty flowers in his big garden. Mr. Hoiday: Merry doesn't get to see her sick grandpa much, but when she does he likes to tell embarrassing stories about her mother and is cheerful. J.K.: The strange Imp boy loves to make her smile and is a blast to be around. His energy and tricks always manage to make her smile. Pearlescent: The deer monster was the one who made her and her siblings crowns. She doesn't see her often but when she does, she likes to hang out with her as they are both deer monsters and Pearlie makes very beautiful objects. King Lancer: since Lancer is good friends with her parents, they sometimes see each other when they visit his kingdom. The giant spade can come off as intimidating, but is actually very down to earth with kids. He often gives them kindly advice on magic and their kingdom, but sometimes he can get a little too into his splat noises.

A commentary on innocence and the characters of Asriel, Ralsei, and Lancer.
The word “innocence” seems to have taken on a much broader and varied meaning in our judgment of characters. Whenever someone calls a character innocent outside of an immediate context of crime or sin, it usually invokes some notion of youthful naivety.
Innocence generally relies on two properties:
Lack of moral direction (undeveloped moral judgment/corruptibility). A good way to distinguish between innocent and righteous (morally upstanding) characters is to ask, “Could this character serve as a guide or role model?”. Righteous characters usually have internal principles and a keen eye for situations that call for moral responses. Innocent characters generally struggle with recognizing when they are in a moral situation, and are vulnerable to corruption since they can be misled. This undeveloped moral judgment--a lack of moral direction-- is why people feel that innocent characters should be protected rather than looked up to.
Free of moral wrongdoing. Even innocent characters are still held to moral standards. A significant display of moral wrong, like an act of bullying or a murder, usually coincides with a loss of innocence.
Using this criteria, let’s first take an example of someone who’s not innocent despite being adorable: Asriel from Undertale.
Why do people portray Asriel as being innocent, even in some of the more serious depictions that try to develop him seriously as a character? Maybe they’re just that hopeful that Asriel could somehow return to a normal life that he was denied. Perhaps it’s an idealization of his cuteness, which risks reducing the character down to being cute and nothing more. Maybe there really wasn’t much to work with in Asriel to begin with (and one can definitely argue that his character development is rather spotty in the game as is). But even this is to have missed much of what characterizes hus time as Flowey.
Flowey from Undertale would not be innocent by any means. But this includes that game’s Asriel by extension, despite the fact that many people like to portray him as being innocent. Flowey is clearly a malevolent force for most of the game, with plenty of examples of moral wrongdoing. Flowey is also keenly aware of the moral boundaries that he oversteps and the ill will he displays towards others. Even during his redemption as Asriel, he harbours no illusions about the things he’s done. Now if Asriel is to atone for his evils, he must properly recognize them as evils (which he does). This requires moral direction. This completely cuts off the possibility of him becoming innocent again, even though it may make him worthy of being considered righteous.
This highlights something paradoxical about innocence. To avoid or atone for moral wrongs, you’d need the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. That is, a moral direction. If a character doesn’t get this moral direction, you can usually guess that they either won’t develop as a character or will become corrupted somewhere down the line, undermining their innocence anyway. Innocence as a character trait is necessarily a temporary trait that is meant to be lost for the sake of development.
So what kind of character would be innocent? It’d be a character that lacks moral experience--someone who is yet to develop. This is the reason why I believe that, between Lancer and Ralsei, Lancer is fundamentally more innocent.
Ralsei is a righteous character who is still morally inexperienced.
If we were going to compare Ralsei to a literary character, I think he is very much like, if not completely similar to, Alyosha from the Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Ralsei has a great moral character. He upholds expectations of being a “good person” better than anyone else thus far in the series. He’s abnormally kind and nice to just about everyone that he comes across, and even when he does get frustrated or angry, it never lasts beyond a moment. He doesn’t hold grudges and is quick to forgive, or rather completely overlook previous hostilities, be it from Susie or Lancer. He seems to always do the right thing from the moment you meet him, and is always prepared to sacrifice his own well-being for others.
Unlike Lancer, Ralsei very much understands moral principles and morality. He has a strong sense of right-and-wrong and in fact imprints that moral standard over his friends. He implores Kris to spare enemies, and discourages Susie from attacking her enemies. Even when castigating her for her decisions, he is quick to encourage her, and even blames himself for having been too aggressive towards her when she reacts badly to it.
If he can faulted for anything, it’s his naivety. His moral beliefs are only challenged during the final boss fight against the king, and he doesn’t go through the slightest bit of psychological struggle over it, but rather quickly accepts that the king was someone who must be fought. (Side comment: I’m not sure if this was rushed character development or a more intentional piece in a grander character development. But this is probably one of the less satisfying aspects of Deltarune’s story.).
Lancer is morally naive, but his misunderstanding of evil betrays his innocence.
Lancer’s something like Adam and Eve before eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. That’s to say that he literally doesn’t seem to understand what the “evil” he so celebrates actually means. What he thinks of as being villainy seems to be mostly harmless mischief and aesthetics with none of the symbolism. To him, evil is like a subculture which he gleefully participates in, and he does it so long as he has no moral directive that would otherwise inform him that what he’s doing isn’t actually evil.
The fact that he believes that he is being evil, though, shows that Lancer is clearly vulnerable to moral corruption. His father, the King, has clearly made his influence felt on Lancer by the time you meet him. Lancer arrives as an adversary who is already eager to be the poster child for the bad guys of the game, albeit one that blunders so much that the protagonists soon no longer take him seriously.
In a more serious story, Susie should have been the concluding influence that would have fully culminated in Lancer’s corruption. She could believably had Lancer begin to feel the fear or anger necessary to finally make Lancer seriously consider what evil means. Perhaps Lancer would have been inspired to commit his first truly evil act, or realize that evil was not what he was looking for all along.
Instead, Lancer’s corruptibility “backfires” at that point. After thanking Susie for her “advice”, they quickly realize that both of them like each other for how they are, and stumble into a friendship based around Lancer’s idea of evil: bumbling mischief. (Why Susie is so willing to follow along Lancer’s stupidity, I’m not sure.) The two “corrupt” each other in this way, developing empathy that will allow Susie to have a change of heart. Neither does Lancer stay innocent. By the time the game ends, he comes to value his friendship in Susie too much to allow his father to kill her. He makes moral decisions--one to imprison the protagonists to avoid a struggle, and another to inspire rebellion against his father.

Prediction for Deltarune Chapters 2-7
 -Spoilers under the cut-
Chapter 2:A fourth player joins the team but it’s not Noelle, it’s Jockington (A Gunner) who only needed to get a pencil. There’s a second fountain in need of closing and Ralsei is concerned about the fourth member. Kris is still mostly sane at this point. Lancer returns but this time as a good guy and this time they fight in a town full of stuffed animals. They seal the fountain and the three return to the outside world. After defeating the boss of this world, Susie also shows Kris that she did her work some point in the chapter and Kris says that they’re starting theirs. Jockington makes a joke about how they might be a thing which Susie gets all angry at. Kris then goes home, learns omnisans secret, and works on the project for a little bit, tearing their soul out and mentioning that “you are not in control of me.” Chapter 3:Susie and Kris go to China town, literally, unaware that they’re getting followed by Catti (summoner). She was curious why Kris and Susie had been skipping class lately. She says she’s gonna tell Alphys about their behavior unless they tell the truth. When she tries activating her phone though, there’s no wi fi so she’s forced to play protagonist number 5 until the final boss. During their time Susie asks Catti if she and Jokcingotn are dating to which she replies,  with a maybe. Kris dosen’t like this and demands a yes or no answer. Ralsei reminds Kris that they are on borrowed time and that now isn’t the right place to fight. Upon returning to the light world, Susie notices a black spot on the wall but thinks nothing of it. Kris shows Susie the progress that they made in their project and as a reward Susie decides to award them by letting them see their home. During their trip to her house Asriel calls saying “Hey Kris! I’m gonna be coming home on Sunday!” Kris starts to cry at this statement.
Chapter 4:You want Noelle to be a protagonist now don’t you? Well here’s the Healer Noelle chapter you wanted. Alphys says that due to something happening the supplies cabinet is locked up. Susie is angry at this and demands Alphys opens it up but is persuaded other wise when Kris says “DO NOT OPEN IT, OR WE DON’T KNOW WHAT WILL BE UNLEASHED.” So Susie and Kris decide to just skip the darker world today until Noelle joins them and says that her dad needs help at the hospital. They fall down a medicine cabnet and find medicine monsters. Ralsei says that there’s no fountain here but understands that Neolle’s father is probably in need of the medicine so he helps. Through out the Chapter it’s obvious that Kris’ is acting...weird. Their soul isn’t there and you seem to lose control of them at times. While Ralsei finds this odd Susie is enjoying this and Noelle, being used to their bullcrap, ignores this. There’s also also a love confession scene with Noelle and Susie...which sadly does not go well, not matter what you do. After finding the medicine Noelle is depressed and decides that it would be best if she walked home alone. Susie thinks that she was kinda harsh and her and decides to make it up tomorrow. Kris is left alone to walk from home to here. It’s there they meet Sans, who has had his eye on them ever since they laid eyes. They talk about their natural distrust towards one another which is soon interrupted by Papyrus offering ravioli. DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUN. Also there’s a black puddle on the way back home and Toriel seems to be a bit unwell, BUT RAVIOLI INSTEAD OF SPAGETHI IS THE MAIN THING
Chapter 5:Berdly (inventor) is the last one to join team KSR. Ralsei, being Ralsei, tries to tolerate him but it’s very hard to when he keeps brining up science stuff. What makes matters worse is that they’re in the science lab. Susie thinks about how she’ll make things up with Noelle and she’s a lot more nervous then usual. Kris is still like they are in Chapter 4. Ralsei says that there’s one more fountain to be closed but up next is the strongest enemy they’ve faced so far so he’s glad that he brought Lancer along for the ride. Oh Lancer is there as well BTW, it’s 5 vs ? during most of the battles, except the ones in a specific part which is only Susie and Kris. After defeating the boss Ralsei warns Kris that even though all the fountains are sealed, there’s still danger. For the knight still walks alone and the angel is yet to be seen. Upon returning to the light world Berldy realizes how much of class he misses and hopes he can make it up. Susie talks to Noelle about what happened last night in the dark world and you don’t get to see if they make up or not. Upon the walk home, there’s a lot of worry and panic throughout the town. More and more people start talking about a mysterious dark spots in the town. Alphys reports to a local police lady that the world as we know it is going to end and Undyne gives her a big hug. Napstablook, chief police, says he’ll do investigating but when he steps over the puddle something interesting happens. The police hat he’s wearing turns into headphones. And when Kris steps over it they turn into their darkener self. The chapter ends with Kris threatening to stab the soul... Chapter 6:...But that doesn’t happen thanks to a restraint from Toriel. The town is in a panic. There are no visits to the dark world today. Kris calls Asriel who still says that he's coming over which is the only good news Kris head. No one is happy, well except Susie, who for once in her life time feels as though there’s nothing to worry about she’s got her side of the project done and Kris is almost done with theirs so they should be good. It’s at this moment the other classmates appear and talk to Susie and Kris about their adventures in the dark world and explain that Ralsei might have been twisting the truth a little bit in his prophecy. Berdly states that, upon doing some research, there was only supposed to be two heroes, a human and a monster and that if they were to seal these fountains the sky would turn black. Susie gets angry all of the sudden and demands that they find Ralsei and have him explain his actions at once. Kris though pulls the dagger out of their pocket and says otherwise and “you’ll have to get through me first, Suzy.” You play as the five other students in their regular forms and although they don’t have Kris’ dagger or abilities they had in the dark they do have their natural abilities. Susie asks what they hell that was about and Kris explains that they are not who is in control at all times sometimes -your vessel name here- takes over. It’s then your vessels pops out of your soul and reveals it’s form that you did. It doesn’t say anything and simply disappears. Suddenly Kris feels in control of their body again and lets go of the knife. Right now they’ve got one more thing to do, find Ralsei and the knight. First things first, Ralsei. After fighting tons and tons of bad guys, the six eventually find him near a forest and they ask him what Ralsei really wanted. “It’s quite simple really,” says the dark prince “I wanted you to be fooled by an innocent look.” In reality he was the angel that was to bring chaos to this land and before you know it, new home is covered in darkness. Everyone is scared now. People don’t know what to do and thus the gang has to fight him. Thankfully, he gave them their powers back. But first, the monsters must find the knight. Chapter 7:Leaving Kris behind they reunite with Lancer and decide to add him to the party one last time meaning it’s basically 6 against 1 and 8 if they can get the knight to side with them. It takes a little why but they do find out who created the Dark World at least “Dr.Gaster” whose from a parralel universe known as Undertale, which he can no longer return too. So he created this universe in his image with a few familiar faces and some new. However it seems that there was an error in his makings or something. The knight appears and fights Dr.Gaster, no matter how good of a fighter you are the knight will grab his soul and run off with it. However don’t lose hope. For with his soul came a hint to the knight’s location. Once they find the knight he asks “where is Kris?” they refuse to tell them their location and get into a fight. The fight is rigged for him to lose no matter what you do. He surrenders but still wants to know where Kris is, for only he and Kris can stop Ralsei. Ultimately they cooperate and each one goes and fights a boss from the world they appeared in but not by themselves. Susie gets help from MK, Temmie Alphys, and Snowy. Jockington gets help from Alvin, Mettaton, Napstablook & Undyne. Catty, Bratty, the blue bunny and Burgerpants help out Catti. Sans, Papyrus, and Rudolph help Noelle and Berdly. Finally Susie and Lancer get help from the Dreemurs and Gaster. Kris and the Knight have to fight the second boss before Ralsei before they can reach him. After that they reach Ralsei once and fight him in his new found angelic form. ZUN helps compose the music for the final boss themes and in order to defeat him you’re gonna need a lot of time to get him. There’s 3 phases, one of him saying that balance needs not be restored and that your’e the ones restoring the balance. The second is of him showing him the true demon behind the angel wings and with wings of familiar colors appear. Scars, injuries and a destroyed kingdom are all explained through this phase. Eventually it seems like the Kris is about to give up but then phase 3 happens with the most unexpected twist. “...No you can’t die now Kris.” he says “And why not?” they ask.
“...Because I haven’t even got you hot choclate yet.” After defeating the demon Ralsei once and for all the truth is explained to Kris. Asriel’s college is were he studies parallel worlds or something like that and the dark world here was a parallel version fo the light world. However Ralsei was sick and tired of balance all the time, he wanted chaos and disorder so he went and did just that. He eventually gets arrested and light and dark is restored again with hometown being a mix of light and dark. Ralsei is jail mates with King Chaos and Lancer transfers schools to go with Susie. She doesn’t get together with Noelle, but she’s moved on to a girl that she meet in the darker world. Undyne and Alphys get together. Omnisan finally tells us their secret. The dog finishes his game. Kris and Asriel go get that hot choclate and life returns  to usual. With Kris pulling out the soul again, but more gently...and setting it down in the cage saying “thank you.”

Who is Ralsei? [SPOILERS for Deltarune]
Okay, at the moment I'm really confused. Whenever someone mentions Ralsei, or are congregating on who Ralsei is, they never mention or bring up the fact that at the end of Chapter 1, Ralsei reveals his true face and it is shown to be a face that closely resembles what Asriel Dreemurr would look like in the Deltarune universe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This must be a very vital part of the storyline, correct? Then why does nobody bring it up? Why do people brush it off as nothingi? Surely, there are plenty of fans out there who have completed the first chapter and have thought: "Hey, maybe Asriel is Ralsei, since Ralsei is an anagram of Asriel, and anagrams are a very large part of this game, which is shown the title of the game and Kris' name. Also, they look similar and have similar personalities." It goes deeper than even that, though.
This scene isn't the only evidence pointing to Ralsei being Asriel. There are also several other minor aspects, such as both Ralsei and Toriel having glasses in this game (even though Toriel did have glasses in the Pacifist ending of Undertale, for some strange reason), or the facts that Ralsei is associated with the color green, like Asriel's sweater.
There are some major hints in the game to Asriel being Ralsei as well, such as the fact that Asriel/Flowey is the only major returning character in Undertale that we have no idea of his whereabouts. You may say, "But where is Papyrus?", but we already know from Sans' dialogue that he is in their house. Also, Mettaton does not exist simply because Alphys is a teacher in this timeline, not a scientist, and would never run into the process of creating a robot for the purpose of entertainment (which would also be useless, since they are on the surface and have access to plenty of sources of entertainment, unlike in the underground). However, the only mention of Asriel's location in Deltarune is that he has recently went to "college". But which college? Where? There is no college in Hometown, so we don't truly know he is actually at this college. Also, even though he has been contacting Toriel, it is never mentioned that she has actually visited his college. How does she know he hadn't dropped out? Has she been receiving any feedback from the college? If not, Asriel could really be anywhere in his time in "college", even possibly the Dark World.
Another vital scene in accordance to this hypothesis is the scene where the player and Susie are first introduced to Ralsei. When you approach Ralsei before speaking to him, the symbol of the Delta Rune, which was shown in Undertale as the symbol of the kingdom of monsters, is on the floor in front of him. In Undertale, Asriel was the Prince of the Kingdom of monsters, and so would be a major representative of the symbol of the Delta Rune. So why is Ralsei representing this symbol? It is simple: he is the Prince of the Kingdom of monsters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some may ask: "Okay, but why would Ralsei be Asriel because is a prince? Aren't Toriel and Asgore just normal monsters in the Deltarune Universe, meaning Asriel would be too?" And yes, that is true; if you don't take into account the fact that Ralsei has no subjects. When you first enter the Castletown, you notice how there is absolutely nobody there. Also, the theme of this area is called "Castletown Empty", which indicates that the town once was full. This tune is like a choppier, incomplete version of "Legend", the song that plays when Ralsei tells the history of the Dark and Light Worlds and in the opening cutscene of the game.
Ralsei refers to himself as the "Prince of Darkness", which may seem strange at first, since he has no subjects. But upon further inspection, it seems that Ralsei may not be a prince of a kingdom that is currently alive, but a kingdom that was once there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing that could have happened to the "Kingdom of Darkness" is that since Asriel was the Prince of the Underground, and Toriel and Asgore were King and Queen (until their split), it is possible that when the underground was emptied after the barrier was broken, that the people had left abruptly, leaving nobody behind. After reaching the surface and claiming land for their own, the monsters decided they no longer needed a representative and ruler and Asgore stepped down as King, leaving Asriel to no longer be a prince. Or so it seems, as Asriel could have held onto his emotional attachment to the underground, the place he grew up in, and preserved the abandoned land on his own under his new pseudonym, "Prince Ralsei".
Another possibility is that the monsters had been living on the surface for at least Asriel's who lifespan, and he had never been to the Dark World. But like Susie and Kris, Asriel could have discovered the Dark World in a secret closet in his college (not literally meaning this, just saying that he could have discovered another way to get to the Dark World). Then, upon seeing this abandoned kingdom, he decided to make it his own and discovered the legend of the underground, and waited for the other two heroes of Light to arrive.
On that note, there is also the fact that in this scene Ralsei immediately knows the names of Susie and Kris. How is this possible? This is not possible, unless he has previously known these two. He could not have heard from someone on the surface about Kris and Susie, because the two of them are the first to arrive to the Dark World from the surface. Or that's what is indicated by the game's dialogue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another funny thing that I noticed is that the name of the song that plays in the area after you meet Ralsei and go through the big gate, the Field, is called "Field of Hopes and Dreams". Sound familiar? If you've played the Undertale Pacifist run, it should. "Hopes and Dreams" is not only the name of the song that plays in the final boss of the True Pacifist run, against the Asriel Dreemurr, but a huge aspect of the entire boss fight as well, as hopes and dreams fill up your inventory throughout the battle. The songs also sound oddly similar, or complementary.
That is what I conclude on Ralsei's possible identity in this part. Toby has fit in so many small hints in this sequel that makes me ask so many questions. Not only Ralsei is a suspicious character, though, but he is the one that is the most mysterious. He's the character that really comes out of nowhere. No backstory, nothing. Which is why it requires a lot of thinking to really delve into his true identity. Who is Ralsei? Is he Asriel Dreemurr? What is the Kingdom of Darkness, and what happened to it? Where did this legend come from?
[And okay, maybe Asriel and Ralsei being the same person may not be true, but that's not the only thing that is revealed through Ralsei's identity. There is another theory that could be built upon these hypotheses, which I will use to split this theory into two separate parts. This first part is explaining how Asriel is Ralsei, but the next part will explain who Asriel and Ralsei are in Deltarune if they are not one in the same.]
This concludes Part 1. Part 2: Coming Soon

Deltarune Parallels and Opposites to Undertale
(And other useful information)
This is everything I found in DR that is seen/related to/opposes UT, as well as other general information. List will be updated as more is found.
The creation of the world:
Naming the save file just like at the start of UT.
The red soul just like Frisk has.
A Gaster-esque opening.
States near the end that “No one can choose who they are in this world”, which is the opposite of UT’s belief of always being able to choose.
Ends with an awakening sequence similar to Frisk awakening in Waterfall in UT following the memory presented to them of Asriel finding Chara.
Menu:
Exact same as UT while on the surface world.
Once in the Kingdom of Darkness, becomes different with new features, but reverts once back on surface.
Narration of Actions:
Still there, but unclear who.
Kris:
Green and yellow striped shirt just like Chara.
Short hair like both Chara, Frisk, and even the humans in both opening stories in UT and DR.
The name “Kris” is an anagram in “Frisk”.
Does not have a lot of personal belongings and gets worried when you try to throw away their ball of junk.
Likes chocolate like Chara did.
Not usually talkative.
Has been with the Dreemurr’s at least since they were very little.
“Does not look himself” at the moment according to Toriel.
Toriel:
Ex-wife of Asgore.
Mother of Kris and Asriel.
Teacher, like she always wanted to be in UT.
Still loves to bake pie.
Her theme song plays in her house.
Still very cautious.
Does not like Asgore for whatever reason.
Asriel:
Brother of Kris, son of Toriel and Asgore.
Not seen in game - he’s at college
Crayons in the drawer:
Similar to crayons in drawer in Home in UT, except no colour green.
Mirror:
“It’s only you” compared to “It’s you!” and “Still just you, Frisk”.
Gerson:
Famed historian, just like in UT
Wrote “The History of Humans and Monsters”.
Died and has a tombstone in the graveyard.
Used to work at the school.
Used to know Kris.
Hair stuck in the drain:
Same as Home in UT.
Toriel’s chair:
Same as in Home in UT.
Froggit:
Seen on the drive to school.
Undyne:
Police officer, just like she was on the surface in UT, however, she has both eyes.
Does not know of Alphys, and likely does not know Sans or Papyrus.
Alphys:
Teacher, however, does not know Undyne.
Prefers “Mew Mew 2” to the first one, opposite of UT.
Still loves instant noodles.
Pretty sure she lives in an alleyway
Temmie:
Still has hard-boiled egg.
Still wants to go to college
Noelle:
Same breed of monster as Gryffot, however, embraces festivities.
Has a father named Rudy Holiday in the hospital.
Her mother is town mayor.
Catti:
Sister of Catty.
Works at QC’s diner.
Moody
Snowy:
Either related to or same breed of monster as Snowdrake.
Still likes to joke.
Has a father who lives in townhouse complex (probably Snowdrake).
Susie:
Possibly the same Susie that is known as “Suzy” in UT, daughter of Clam Girl’s neighbour.
Was predicted in UT that fate would have us meet her.
Almost eats Kris’ face, but decides not to, stating “Kris. You’ve got a good mother… it’d be a shame to make her bury her child.” alluding us to Toriel having her son die in UT.
Doesn’t let us answer a yes/no prompt, stating “If you haven’t gotten it by now…Your choices don’t matter.” again opposing UT’s beliefs.
Reminded me of Undyne at first with destructive personality, but turned out not so bad (Undyne’s still nicer).
Roses:
Found at Alphys’ desk.
Roses are found in UT in Hotland near one of the puzzles, where you can stop to smell them, possibly some relation to Alphys.
Supply Closet:
Actually trap to get to the Kingdom of Darkness
Reminded me of the trick Sans plays on you to get into his room in UT (and Papyrus also claimed Sans was tricking you through time and space - however still not the same, as this wasn’t a trick).
Falling:
Sound effect similar to the Barrier in UT
Save Point:
The light only you can see, claims it’s second nature (meaning save points are already a thing)
Same mechanism as UT, still restores HP, however, it’s silver instead of gold.
You also save over Kris’s file to the creator's name (yikes) once in the Kingdom of Darkness, but this reverts once back on the surface.
Saves are not related to Determination, but more so access to the light (as you are a lightener).
Usually says “The power of ___ shines within you.
HP:
Characters still have it, however more than UT when at LV 1 (90 compared to 20)
Endgame goal:
Want to go home, same as UT.
Ralsei:
At first looked like the Riverman from UT, however, is actually an anagram for Asriel.
Somehow knows the names of Kris and Susie from the moment he sees them.
Claims to be the Prince of the Kingdom of Darkness, similar to how Asriel was the Prince of the Kingdom of Monsters.
Knows the legend of the Deltarune.
Believes that Kris and Susie are the Heroes of the Legend, the Delta Warriors, and that they have the courage to save the world.
As a prince, they don’t have any subjects(?) and they have been waiting their whole life for the Heroes to arrive(??).
They’re a pacifist, just like Asriel.
Obsessed with baking, just like Toriel.
Contrary to the beginning and what Susie tells us, they tell us that our choices are important, that we can get by without fighting, and that we are capable of getting a “happy ending”, just like we can in UT.
When they take off their hood at the end, it’s revealed that they’re a Boss Monster, the same breed as the Dreemurr’s.
The Legend of the Deltarune:
Same emblem as the Deltarune in Undertale.
The foretold prophecy prophesied by time and space of two Hero’s of Light that come to the Kingdom of Darkness, similar to how there was a Prophecy in UT symbolized by the Deltarune that a human would arrive to the Underground, and the Underground would go empty.
Claimed in UT that the legend and true meaning of the Deltarune had been lost with time.
The legend told was known as a legend of Hopes and Dreams, about light and dark. As told in the story, the light seemed to represent those on the surface, and dark representing those beneath. It is told that the Light and Dark coexisted in peace for millennia. However, the legend states that if this peace were to one day break, catastrophe would occur, with the world cracking beneath, and consequentially ending. It says that once that begins, only then would three heroes emerge; a human, a monster, and a Prince from the Darkness. They would have to seal the fountains and banish the “Angels Heaven”, thus saving the world. The fountain of Darkness that gives the land of Darkness form currently stands in the kingdom, but another fountain has since appeared on the horizon, beginning the shift in tides between light and dark.
This entire legend is similar to the war between monsters and humans in UT, if we compare the light to humans and the dark to monsters, as the light is above while the dark is below, they begin to clash, and there is a prophecy of a person/people who can end it.
It’s unknown if the legend has any relation of the legend of Mount Ebott.
Lancer:
Somewhat similar to Papyrus (not as nice though…claims to be the bad guy at first) where they love puzzles, leave warning signs, don’t have friends at first, trying to please a higher up, (the King/Susie, and Undyne in UT).
Similar aesthetic in his face.
Represented by a spade, same as his father.
Refers to Kris and Susie as clowns.
According to him, if the fountain is not sealed, the world will be consumed by eternal darkness.
Training Dummy:
Same idea as UT except looks like Ralsei
Soul:
Still described as the culmination of your being.
Holds your will, compassion, and the fate of the world.
Battle:
Same mechanics, but with a bit more (defend, spells, TP).
Names still turn yellow when ready to spare.
Fighting:
Claimed to be unnecessary by Ralsei, just like in UT.
When practising for the first time on the dummy and you get a good hit, you’re asked by Ralsei, “Have you done this before or something…?” alluding us to the fact that we’ve done it before in UT.
Currency:
Dark Dollars (D$) instead of Gold (G$).
Shops:
Still exist, same mechanics, but different.
Unlike in UT, the “sell” mechanic actually does something, as you can actually sell stuff in all shops.
Seam:
First merchant.
Claims that Lighteners used to be god-like protectors to Darkener’s, but then one day they locked them away in this “prison”.
Alludes to this not being the only point in time where the land has fallen into chaos, but that “we don’t need to know about that”.
Knows that there is only one end outcome.
Was responsible for locking up the “Strange Prisoner” (Jevil).
Claimed that Jevil met a strange man and that suddenly his view was “Darker, yet darker” - reference to Gaster and his journal #17.
The King:
Similar to Asgore, as he wanted revenge on the Lighteners for locking them up.
Opposite in the sense that he does not believe in pacifism.
Similar to Flowey in that he deceives you to think that he wants peace in the end, only to hurt you when you’re vulnerable.
Represented by a Spade, same as Lancer
The Kingdom of Darkness:
Used to be ruled by four kings from card castle (one presumably Ralsei’s father, if he really is a prince? This is unclear) but that recently a “strange knight” appeared, and three of the kings were locked away. The remaining King is now in power with his son, Lancer.
According to Ralsei, the Darkeners can never truly be fulfilled unless around lighteners.
Blood:
Monsters are not made of magic, because Lancer refers to them having blood.
Sans is the only monster in UT who has the possibility of having blood, so he could possibly relate to this.
Teleportation Doors
The method of transportation in the Kingdom of Darkness.
Can be found in UT as the door to Sans’s room in Undertale (they literally look the exact same).
According to the person who fixed it, the door just randomly appeared and they don’t know how.
Blueprints:
There are blueprints that Lancer and Susie create in their plan to thrash Kris and Ralsei that could correlate to the ones found in Sans’s workshop.
Guards:
Corner Kris, Ralsei and Susie in a Flowey-esque style.
Death Screen:
The death animation of the soul shattering is the same, however, it is the voice from the opening screen that addresses you, not Asgore, claiming the future is in your hands if you continue.
If you die, and you choose not to persist, the voice treats it as if the world continues on without you, saying “The world was covered in darkness”, leaving you on a black screen, something that could never happen when you die normally in Undertale, because you always continue there.
Jevil:
Same battle background as the background during the opening screen.
Speaks in repetition similar to Gaster, therefore there is a possible connection (ex. “Chaos, chaos” compared to “Darker, yet darker”).
Uses an attack that looks like Reaper Bird, one of the amalgamates in UT.
True Pacifist:
Gives unique ending where you can say bye to all the characters you met, just like in UT.
Gaster Followers:
Regular monsters living regular lives.
Not discoloured
Hots Fireguy:
Guy found in a book in the library that wants you to remember his name.
Similar to Heats Flamesman found in UT.
Rudy Holiday:
Father of Noelle.
Likes the festivities.
Claims Noelle is scared of Santa, which contradicts UT, because Christmas is supposed to be a time where monsters remember and praise Gryfott, the same breed of monster as Noelle and Rudy, as he was tormented and forced into looking festive by bullies.
ICE-E:
Either he or one of his associates is in the hospital.
Owns a pizza place (Peeza’s).
Owns a brand (ex. shampoo found in Kris’ house).
Finger-Lady:
In UT works in the MTT Resort, now works in Town Hall.
Politics Bear:
Still likes politics.
Works in town hall.
The Amalgamates:
All have died and have tombstones in the graveyard.
QC’s Diner:
Looks like a replacement Grillby’s.
Kris used to go there with his family, but after “stuff” happened (presumably the divorce) Kris only went there with Asriel. Once Asriel went off to college, Kris stopped going.
Green Fire Girl:
Found in QC’s Diner.
Ice Wolf:
Found in QC’s Diner.
Still talks in 3rd person.
Core Worker:
Found in QC’s Diner.
Now wears large top hat instead of hard hat (since there’s no Core to work in).
Burgerpants:
Works at ICE-E’s Peeza, similar to how they worked at a burger place at MTT Resort in UT - both crappy fast food restaurants.
Still calls you “Little Buddy”.
Still hates work.
Still wants to be an actor.
Says, “Enjoy your freedom…while it lasts”, which relates to what he was saying about being trapped in his job, but also hints at the fact that monsters were trying to achieve freedom in UT.
Sans:
At first, come off like he knows you, calls you “kid”, but when you say “great to see you again”, he says he’s never met you before as he’s new to town.
Introduces himself the same as he did in Undertale.
If you ask to be friends, you get his number while in Undertale you can only get Papyrus’.
Only knows of Alphys and Toriel so far.
Still likes to stand around and do nothing.
Still very observant of your actions (ex. how long you take to answer a yes/no prompt).
Asks you to hang out with his little brother tomorrow (presumably Papyrus) because he needs friends.
Owns a grocery store.
Sans’ House:
Lives in the same house except no Christmas lights.
When you knock on the door, the text is “No response…but the distant trousle of bones”, presumably because Papyrus is in there and that’s a reference to his theme in Undertale.
No workshop found at the back of his house.
Bun-Bun:
Lives in a townhouse complex with her mom.
Alleyway With Graffiti:
Presumably home of Alphys.
Has flowers, which Alphys says are from Asgore, because he gives them away for free to everyone.
Has a spray paint of Reaper Bird, also used in one of Jevil’s attacks and seen as an amalgamate in Undertale. This could relate to Alphys’ relation to the amalgamates in UT.
Has a separate spray paint of ICE-E.
The Knock of a Beginner:
Opposite of UT, where you are praised for your nice knock.
Catty:
Lives in a home with a family next to Bratty, compared to living in an alleyway in UT.
Does not like Bratty, her best friend in UT.
Very similar in personality to UT.
Bratty:
Lives in a home next to Catty, compared to living in an alleyway in UT.
Does not like Catty, her best friend in UT.
Very similar in personality to UT.
Mettaton:
Same house as Nabstablook in UT.
Thinks he’s a nobody, won’t even come out of his house, complete opposite of UT where he thinks he’s born to be a star.
Most likely still in his ghost form, as the only reason he has a body in UT is because he met Alphys at a human fan club (something that likely doesn’t exist in DR because of the normalization of humans) and because he thinks he was born to be a star.
Asgore:
Same personality.
Divorced from Toriel for unknown reasons.
Father of Kris and Asriel.
Same opening text when you walk in the room with him as UT, where he’s watering flowers, and then turns around to see you.
Does not appear to be King of Monsters, but still loves his garden and waters his flowers.
Owns 7 flowers in glass cases exactly the same as the ones that held the souls in Undertale. Each flower matches each of the soul colours, except for the red soul - a golden flower is there instead.
Asgore’s very poor unlike in UT.
Has a sink, and for the first time the text is different, and it says, “There is some dirty fur stuck in the drain”.
Wears the same shirt as he wore on the surface in Undertale.
RG1 and RG2:
Still best friends
Onion:
Still says “y’hear”.
Lives in the town lake.
Once you’re friends, you give them their name, as they have forgotten it.
Claims they want to tell you something tomorrow.
Don’t Forget:
The name of the ending song.
The last lyric goes “Don’t forget - I’m with you in the dark”. This directly relates to Sans’ drawing in his workshop in UT, where he drew a picture of three people with “don’t forget” on it.
We still don’t know who these three people are, but for all we know it could relate to a future chapter, where the people are Kris, Susie, and Ralsei.
This drawing event in UT is only triggered by having the FUN value that gives you the ability to talk to Clam Girl after a true pacifist ending - the neighbour of the mother of someone named “Suzy”.
In Toby Fox’s Q&A about DR, although the entirety of it was all facts and truths about the making of the game, he ended it with “Don’t forget”.
