Hello! What are the things that you'd like to see (or see more) in a Superman story?

hmm, fanfiction or canon? Because in fanfiction... we're all here for fun, and I'm more interested in reading something the author's genuinely interested in writing. What I want out of canon Superman stories is pretty different than what I’m looking for when I fire up AO3. That being said, here is a long stream of consciousness of fanfic concepts that are currently living rent free in my brain. at least the sfw ones lol

anyway basically. just. good characterization. or. i’ll settle for interesting characterization at this point. my personal standards of clark characterization hinge on my three favorite Capital S Superman Stories: birthright, all-star, and miracle monday. if a fic has just one of the aspects of those characterizations I'm content. I would elaborate on that but this is already too long.

Humanity And Our Predilection For Fictions
I was watching an interview with Yuval Harari, the author of Sapiens, recently. When asked about the historical veracity of Christianity and, indeed, all religions, Harari described them as fictions. He is, primarily, a historian, and I myself studied Ancient History for some 5 years. The historical evidence for Christianity and Judaism does not stack up. I liked the way that he calls these collective beliefs ‘fictions’, rather than lies. Although, I well understand those among us who get het up about organised religions and the damage they have done over millennia. Humanity and our predilection for fictions.

We All Love A Good Story
We all love a good story and, indeed, this is how we learn. Dry facts and figures alone will not stick in our brains. We, invariably, must weave these into narratives. Every religion has a foundational story at its heart. Gods are our final answer for everything. Ultimately, we like to handball off responsibility to a divinity. Religions are not, by any means, our only shared fictions. The concept of money is a fiction; and a religion for many. Most people do not know where money comes from and who creates money within our sovereign economies. Yet, money plays such a large part in our lives from the cradle to the grave.

God & Money Are Fictions
Banks don’t lend money, rather they create it every time someone provides collateral as a promissory note in return for this bank money. Yes, the banks charge interest on this money, as well as listing it in their asset column. When we pay back that money to the bank, that money, those figures on a screen are wiped off and only the interest earned by the bank remains. Money is a concept, an agreement between parties, and in this regard it is a fiction. We need the fiction of money, that we all agree on, so as to pass the parcel around within our economies. Buying and selling, paying taxes and fines, would all be more difficult without the concept of money. Money, however, is not linked to a gold standard, as it once was long ago. Therefore, it has no actual tangible reality beyond its shared agreement between us and our government and central bank.

Similarly, for those who believe in an all powerful deity. There is no tangible evidence for the existence of such a figure. Christianity, for example, was a story which emerged around two millennia ago in what we now call the Middle East. This fiction was picked up by the Roman Empire in the 4C by several leading identities. It was a seemingly unlikely occurrence and some have pointed to this as proof of its divine source. However, circumstantial evidence is never considered as incontrovertible proof for things. Stories, memes, and collective trends are constantly making their way around the world and time is not something short-lived human beings can ever quite get their head’s around. In all of recorded history there has never been any incontrovertible proof of the existence of God – despite this billions of people still believe in some deity or another. Human beings have a predilection for fictions.

it’s 1am and I am angry about 2019 moby dick musical lyrics
I have been wanting to write my historical-context-of-Queequeg-in-Moby-Dick and what-the-fuck-was-the-musical for 10 months, and I have been continually aware that it is not going to be a good version of this post and that I know nothing about this subject beyond some judicious Googling and JSTOR access. On the other hand, Dave Malloy had Google too and created…….these song lyrics. So please imagine me waving at you, the reader, frantically, in the direction of more information, rather than a learned disquisition of any sort. Also if I get anything wrong (WHICH I HAVE BEFORE) tell me.
Also point one: the source text Malloy is working with is absolutely also a racist text. He just didn’t have to do…that with it. And obviously, he’s writing it as a joke! I realise this! But when you explicitly decide to do a song about cultural relativism, and then you decide to present what I think even I can notice is kind of a wildly inaccurate caricature which doesn’t really have anything else in mainstream media to counterbalance it, and then you never ever get any of the delicate character work or adaptational work that you get in Great Comet…I don’t know that this is something that was thought about or if Malloy decided to take the entire concept of 19th century Pacific Islanders and leave it as “they eat people! I can make up how exactly by consulting the Wikipedia cannibalism entry and not scrolling down to any specific examples! Also I don’t need to think about any social or historical ramifications.
So, point two. The “Autobiography” section of Moby Dick clearly and obviously draws on the account of Te Pehi Kupe’s journey to England on 26 February 1824. Geoffrey Sanborn has written several articles and books discussing this, with further articles by Juniper Ellis and Caroline Schwarz.
(I’d add at this point that this one of many many Maori journeys to Europe and America at this point, with many different aims – while Te Pehi Kupe was looking for a military resource which was giving a devastating advantage and determining much of the balance of power at the time, many other people were more interested in architecture, agriculture, manufacturing, windmills, trade, law and justice, literacy, religion, politics, and of course acquiring a printing press. So Melville’s idea of trying to find a way of making the people happier than previously is semi a joke, semi reflecting what was an actual thing)
Te Pehi Kupe, a rangatira (chief) of Ngati Toa, paddled out to the ship Urania, and resisting being thrown aboard, demanded to stay on board, go to Europe, and ask King George for guns. He befriended the captain and saved him from drowning, travelling to England to meet George IV, observe military matters (like regiments being reviewed) and visit factories. Returning to a complex and escalating series of wars partly fuelled by the huge imbalances of firepower that muskets brought, he was ultimately killed during conflict with Ngai Tahu.
For the history and conflicts of Ngāti Toa, released only a week ago is a new book containing a 50,000 account in te reo Māori of Te Rauparaha’s life, written by Te Rauparaha’s son Tamihana between 1866 and 1869.
The very same day that Aperahama Te Kawe spoke to him, Te Rauparaha announced: “In the morning we shall go, migrate; the pā is about to fall.” At this, Ngāti Toa’s spirits were lifted, the 140 who were inside their pā, Te Arawī.
In the morning when the sun was high, near midday, they migrated, they left their pā. They did not allow themselves to weep, they left Kāwhia behind, following the paths along the coast. The men and women who did not have the strength to travel were left lying on the trail and some perished from starvation.
They carried on throughout that day until nightfall. When they reached Marokopa my mother was left there, heavy with child — for indeed I was inside her womb about to be born — along with some other chiefly women of Ngāti Toa who were also left at Marokopa. The travelling party with the fighting men carried on, including Te Rauparaha. My mother was not abandoned there, another relative, Pukeroa, stayed with her to look after her, along with some others of Ngāti Toa.
The Ngāti Toa travelling party carried on. When they got to the top of Moeātoa [30 km south of Kāwhia], the hill, they looked back down at Kāwhia lying below. Now the love for their home, for Kāwhia, welled up. Then the people of Ngāti Toa and their elder, Te Rauparaha, wept, their grief was like the sighing sea. How could he not be overcome with love for the homeland that he was leaving behind, the land of his birth where his placenta was buried?
And I’m putting this really wrenching excerpt here because the history and culture that Melville very shakily and ignorantly nonetheless draws on (from religious beliefs, to the idea that the afterlife involves travel back to a specific island, to art and carving, ta moko, warfare, wedding customs to humour) is….real people’s history. The warfare of the Musket Wars did involve the ritualised consumption of the bodies of dead enemies – that didn’t actually make everything a joke to the people who took part in it, or leave their descendants without legacies to reckon with, painful memories or acts of heroism.
And I’m just going to put Ross Calman, the author of the book’s quote here regarding the very contemporary relevance of history:
We can’t pretend that it’s all going to be happy families. It’s been a very difficult past and we have to face up to the violence of the early founding years of this nation. It’s been built on violence and on deceit and on land being taken from Māori in a variety of ways. It’s left us as an impoverished people and we’re still feeling the effects today.
A lot of Pākehā say: “Oh, that’s in the past. You can’t blame me for that.” But the impact of the violence and deceit and theft is still very much with us, and that has to be addressed.

Or for a commentary by an early 19th century Māori speaker on both European and Maori societies, have the debate between Te Whareumeu and Augustus Earle quoted in Tangata Whenua: “the only difference in our laws is, you flog and hang, but we shoot and eat”.
And finally, here is an actual comic song from the 1820s/30s Māori world, full of irony, wordplay, and double-entendre.
This was sung by some women of the Te Namu pa which had successfully withstood a siege from a taua (war-party) of Te Ati-Awa. The war-party was armed with two muskets. They made a great noise but killed nobody.

i am curious, as someone who’s only exposure to arthurania was reading jane yolen’s young merlin as a child, would you mind saying why hnoc is a bad adaptation? i’m super curious but no worries if not <3
this has been sitting in my inbox for months bc i kept telling myself i needed to write a full essay with proof from medieval lit to make myself feel smarter. however, since i’ve recently lost all credibility bc i can’t articulate points to save my life, and since i’ve realized that i could answer this in a just a couple paragraphs, now seems like the right time to answer this ask. sorry for the wait.

also warnings for mentions of racism bc this is hnoc we're talking abt and sexual assault bc this is med lit we're also talking abt
the basic problems are pendragon polycule itself, the story beats of the album, the fridging and lack of characterization of morgan le fay, the clear influence of pop culture arthuriana, and whatever the fuck happened with gawain/e.
pendragon polycule is... just not a good take. there’s a bit in the lancelot-grail abt arthur viewing lancelot like a son (and lancelot not giving a shit abt him). also arthur knew his parents for years before lancelot was even born. plus lancelot just Doesn’t care abt him and i can’t stress this part enough. arthur repeatedly tries to have guinnevere killed, mostly in the lancelot-grail, and guinn didn’t really have any say in marrying him bc she was a teenager. lancelot and guinnevere is a lot better but that’s not saying much. guinn doesn’t exactly treat lancelot too well... like at all, BUT it’s not intrinsic to their relationship and is completely caused by medieval misogyny and i’m all in favor of modern retellings saying fuck that. but also lancelot has multiple pseudo-canon boyfriends (this is med lit after all), and one pseudo-canon husband so like... there were better options. (also lancelot’s husband is basically in a lavender marriage with guinnevere’s maybe girlfriend who most authors just eventually forget abt as the story progresses).
this next one is a problem with a lot of modern arthurian works bc the inclusion of elayne of astolat is too much to ask apparently. the grail quest isn’t tied to the fall of camelot, it just happens to be one of the last grand adventures the knights of the round table have. the event that traditionally sets off the fall is the death of the maiden of astolat/the lady of shalott/elayne of escolat/she has a lot of names, her story has a few variations but usually she either is cursed to stay in a tower and weave and only be able to see the outside world through a mirror positioned across from her window, until lancelot rides by and she rushes to see him out of the actual window and her mirror shatters, setting off her death, or she lives with her father and brothers and takes care of lancelot bc he was injured for a time and she gets to go on adventures to find him and she’s friends with gawaine and she dies bc lancelot rejects her and this version’s a lot more fun but also more happens which makes it harder to explain. the way her story ends however, is that she dies after she makes arrangements for a glorious boat to drift from astolat to camelot carrying nothing but her dead body and a letter explaining that she died of love for lancelot du lac and the court mourns the death of such a beautiful and young maiden (her age varies a lot but i’ve always read her as a young teenager at most). but the important thing is, camelot is doomed from the moment she washes up on its shore bc she’s an omen of the end and has symbolic meaning and all that, the maiden of astolat washes up on camelot’s shores, the court mourns the loss of a maiden in her prime and she marks the end of camelot’s prime as well, morgan le fay reappears after being presumed dead and warns arthur of guinnevere and lancelot’s affair, aggravaine and modred conspire to bring lancelot and guinnevere’s affair to light, they succeed but lancelot escapes, guinnevere is to be burnt at the stake and lancelot rescues her, killing aggravaine, gaheris and gareth (gawaine’s brothers) in the process, gawaine drags his uncle and camelot to war bc he was driven mad due to the loss of his brothers, lancelot accidentally kills gawaine, his best friend and maybe boyfriend (i have RECEIPTS), and gawaine forgives him on his detahbed while lancelot and guinn rejoin arthur, meanwhile modred, who practically had the throne handed to him, usurps and invites the saxons in, camlann happens, and camelot is destroyed. no where in there is the grail quest.
morgan le fay is honestly the most questionable part of the album bc there’s not a single text where she dies. like.... at least with eurydice in udad she died in the original... there’s no basis for morgan dying. also she is NOT modred’s mother and anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar, she interacts with him once in the vulgate bc she had three of her nephews over and that’s IT. it’s a horrible take which originated in the mists of avalon by marion zimmer bradley who is an honest to god monster for reasons i don’t want to trigger tag this post for. also she’s one of the most dynamic and thought-out characters in the entire canon and they just made her a watered down morgause (modred’s actual mother, morgan’s sister, canonical milf)... there was no reason for it to be her apart from the fact that she’s more well known......
pop culture arthuriana is,,, one of my least favorite things. no, morgan wasn’t modred’s mother, no, morgause wasn’t abusive but her husband sure was implied to be, no, aggravaine didn’t kill his mother, that was gaheris, he loved his mother, you’re only saying that bc he has a reputation as the “evil” orkney, no, the once and future king is not a good descriptor for arthur, stop making me read it, no, morgause wasn’t the one to initiate the thing with arthur resulting in modred, no, lancelot and arthur weren’t friends, no, tristan wasn’t a self-centered asshole, tennyson is a fucking liar, no, galahad didn’t have sex or want to, he’s one of the first ever explicitly asexual characters out there, no, galahad’s conception was NOT consensual, lancelot was tricked, and no, elayne of astolat wasn’t galahad’s mother, she’s implied to be younger than him. those are just the big glaring ones, but i swear it’s bc of arthuriana’s reputation as a mythology and the connotations belonging to that word (no one true canon (which is true but there are still things that just AREN’T canon, not completely written down, passed by oral tradition) that causes ppl to see mediocre modern texts and go “oh. well this is abt as close to the original as i’m going to get” and don’t bother to look into so much as malory (who i only name bc he’s one of the most well known medieval authors with the most commonly used storylines, don’t read malory kids, he’s a mediocre-at-best writer even by medieval standards). the big perpetrators of modern arthurian tropes are the books the once and future king by th wh*te, who is a shitty person and lets it bleed into his writing (which isn’t like... nice to read or anything, seriously why do ppl love this book so much it doesn’t have redeeming qualities), and the mists of avalon by marion zimmer bradley (it’s poorly written, the story is a mess, and mzb is honestly a monster and one google search will tell you that), and unfortunately the writings of tennyson, which are mostly good but he clearly didn’t read the povest (a later text that’s also my favorite, known for significantly improving ppl’s opinions on tristan, isolde and co.) before deciding he hated both tristan and isolde and he has HORRIBLE takes on them. high noon over camelot is SEEPED in pop culture arthuriana and i think it would have been so much better if the band had read so much as a SUMMARY of the events of le morte. it’s evident in the song “the once and future king” bc it’s,,,, literally named after one of the worst books in existence. it’s shown in the morgan le fay thing, and it’s shown in the pendragon polycule thing. and hell, i think you can even explain away the lack of elayne of astolat with pop culture arthuriana, bc ppl have had bad takes on her ever since th wh*te combined her character with that of ela*ne of corbenic, and the band probably went “huh, let’s write lancelot’s abuser out of this” and they would’ve been right to do so if that’s who elayne of astolat was.
the final big issue is gawaine, the closest thing the genre has to a protagonist, he’s pretty much canon bi and, in some texts, arospec, he’s a dashing knight of great reknown and he derails every romance to steal hearts, commit murder, and make out with every knight and lady mentioned. and in hnoc he’s... racist. that’s it. it’s,,, almost completely unfounded by the arthurian canon and shows a major misunderstanding of his motivations (like i said earlier, he wants to avenge his brothers bc there’s a reoccuring motif of how much the orkneys value family). i say almost bc in one text it’s his motivations for killing palomydes but i’ve never heard it mentioned by name bc that’s just what it’s known for. most arthuriana fans just look away from it except when critiquing hnoc but that one text is an outlier, shouldn’t be counted, and i highly doubt the mechs made hnoc gawain how he is bc they found this text. it’s just a bad text.
hnoc has,,, quite a few more minor issues, such as villainized ladies of the lake (their ONLY crimes were sealing away merlin bc he tried to assault teenage nimue/ninniane (proto-nimue/vivianne from the vulgate), and that one time vivviane/ninniane kidnapped adopted baby lancelot), assigning brain to merlin (y’know,,, the predator who helped arrange the [redacted] of arthur’s mother and tried to assault a teenager,,,) although merlin is portrayed in a positive light throughout modern arthuriana so i don’t think they knew, giving a song to pellinore, who my perception of has been forever altered bc i was introduced to him through malory and the explanation of torre’s conception, which you can just look up “sir torre arthurian” to find out abt if you can’t just Guess, if they wanted a song abt the questing beast palomydes was Right There AND has been associated with the questing beast for longer, but once again i don’t think they knew.
also namedropping a bunch of knights in the fiction is... it Suggests a bigger world full of all these other stories but they just don’t work bc the world of hnoc wasn’t designed in a way where the appearance of half these characters would make sense. like,, tristan is referenced as dying in the grail quest in the same sentence as bedevere (one of the characters who is known for almost always surviving), but tristan Isn’t one of the knights who dies on the grail quest, his possible deaths (ignoring the potentially happy ending of the povest for a second) are either being murdered by his uncle, king mark (bc mark married tristan’s gf to try and get tristan killed and also to spite him), bc he was driven into a fury bc of tristan and isolde’s affair, or he’s injured and only isolde (the best healer in the world) can save him so he sends for her and if the ship he sent for her is supposed to fly white sails if she’s there, or black sails if she’s not, and the ship flies white sails but his wife (also named isolde) says it’s black sails (the why depends but usually comes down to jealousy), and so he gives up bc he thinks all hope is lost and usually succumbs to his injuries, either way isolde dies of a broken heart over his body. there’s no way for the tristan and isolde story to play out like it’s supposed to in the world of hnoc, just as there’s no way for any story with gawaine (and Oh Boy are there a lot of stories with gawaine) or pretty much anyone else, without severely altering the canon.
of course, there are still parts of hnoc i like a lot, most of the music i adore and i just like the idea of space cowboys and the secret good hnoc that lives in my head. and it has one of my favorite characterizations of galahad, even though galahad hnoc is nothing like galahad arthuriana. it’s not GOOD but i like it and it’s fun to turn my brain off too, and i’ll always value it as my introduction to arthuriana.
also there are modern arthurian tropes i do like such as characters being genre-savvy/knowing they’re fictional/knowing they’ve done this before (which hnoc does wonderfully!) and bedevere-as-the-storyteller (everyone say thank you lord tennyson).
WOW that was longer than expected, i feel very passionately abt this, when i was planning to write a fully sourced essay i meant to include a bit at the bottom with recommendations to get into better arthuriana and i think i’ll keep that in this post.
if you like hnoc for the arthurian music i’d like to suggest heather dale’s arthurian music to you, she does occasionally fall into the trap of modern arthuriana (some parts of lancelot and arthur being close, morgan as modred’s mother), sometimes she’s just wrong (galahad at lancelot’s trial, a lot of tristan and isolde), and her stuff is kinda straightwashed sometimes (sir gawain and the green knight, for example) but i’d be lying if it wasn’t catchy, and it’s not quite as bad as hnoc adaptation-wise. culwch and olwen is pretty accurate (albeit abridged bc culwch and olwen has SO many tangents), as is lily maid (it’s abt elayne of astolat!).
if you liked hnoc for king arthur... in space! then may i recommend to you my own fanfic? it's not posted yet but the second i finish writing the first chapter i'm going to make a Big Deal out of it that'll be impossible to miss!
if you want to learn abt arthuriana through tumblr-osmosis like i did at first, i’d like to recommend the love of my life @acegalahads, first and foremost (it’s me on a sideblog i’m just obsessed with myself), and i can’t recommend my arthuriana mutuals over there, @/gringolet, @/merlinenthusiast, @/jcbookworm, @/elayneofshalott, and @/elaineofascolat (the elayne urls have been popular recently), also i know for a fact that my mutual-in-law, @/itonje makes great arthuriana posts that i look forwards to whenever i open the tag.

if you want to ease into med lit, i’d like to introduce you to pre-raphaelite poetry, alfred lord tennyson and william morris are my favorites, although tennyson can’t be trusted with tristan and isolde. the poem the lady of shalott is basically a rite of passage for arthuriana fans, although when it comes to tennyson’s writings abt elayne of astolat, i prefer lancelot and elaine, which is part of his much larger story, idylls of the king. for morris, don’t trust what he says abt aggravaine killing his mother, but my favorites of his are sir galahad, a christmas mystery, which sounds like a shitty disney sequel, and palomyde’s quest, which i blame for my love of palomydes (that and the one bit of the povest where he asks tristan to be his greatest enemy and that he wants nothing more, gay ppl,,,,).
if you want to read abt lancelot and his husband, there’s the lancelot-grail cycle, which i believe was taken off of archive dot org and i think i found it on @/tobeisexhausting’s blog but don’t quote me on that.

I had a sudden - and probably incredibly short-lived - spike in interest for The Shield and was reading a review of its last episodes that is in fact more of an argument of why the show function as a tragedy in the ancient greek sense of the world and this quote really struck me :
“In the end [Vic] is truly in the world that he made. Not deserved, but made, and that’s the morality of The Shield, expressed in consequence, not judgment. Aristotle counsels that tragedy must be about a single action, and Vic’s has been clear since the pilot: to get away with it and remain a good person. He did get away with it [...] All it cost him was everything in his life, his Team, his family, his shield, his identity, everyone who admired him. That happened not because Shawn Ryan wanted to make a point about the LAPD or America. It didn’t happen because he’s doomed by masculinity or capitalism or authority or anything else. It happened because of what Vic did, and that’s the essence of tragedy.”
And like, this is in a way a reductive take on tragedy but it also articulates why I’m so frustrated with tumblr’s weird insistance on a black and white retelling of every greek tragedy with a good character who did nothing wrong and a bad one who never did anything good ever. The characters make choices, the choices have consequences, that it. Whether the protagonists are pure hearted, or have good intentions, or are righteous in their fury is - while intersting - not the reason i care about tragedy. I’m here to watch te domino falls, and everyone scream opopoï ! at the sky. As a witness, not as a judge.
ironically i don’t think this truly can be applied to The Shield because the show doesn’t just ask us to witness, it puts us in the protagonists shoes with it’s hyperrealist asthetic, and only apply the concept of “consequences, not judgement” to characters in law enforcement, thus - accidentally or not - encouraging us to judge and condemn other criminals
Also, this is kinda hypocritical of me given how much I enjoyed Brecht’s Antigone, which ab-so-lu-tely does the good character vs bad character thing. Anyway, The Shield sure was a show ! would love to actually watch all the episodes except that I would hate every second of it.

Current Activities in Sims 4 #6
So here, I’m going to do a sort of character spotlight. After a little blurb, and a Read More break because there’s a LOT of images in this.
Around the time the Star Wars patch came out and killed several mods, I decided to create a new world. My first and original one after ~90 hours was becoming a bit cramped (I had about 12 custom households spread around. Still plenty of lots to move into but still). The ‘big’ ones updated quick and I just took it as a sign to start anew, with some makeovers. My first world also had sims and families that didn’t have the luxury of all the clothing options I do now, so there’s also that.
So my first madeover family is Relmyna and Ameel.
Their narrative is that they are two artists helping each other out. Relmyna is a magic’d bloodline but mostly human artist who funds most of the household. She has a legit job as a painter.
Ameel is... an alien. She’s all about the music, and so far has remained unemployed as she builds up her fame by DJing at certain hotspots. She avoids her disguise because she thinks that helps her get famous faster. On a narrative basis, she’s right. Mechanically, this means nothing. Just gotta deal with that “embarassed” moodlet every so often.
Their main gameplay loop is Relmyna getting a shitton of money and upgrading their household. Which right now is about two or three satellite buildings.
They barely enter the main house, by the way. Anyway, Ameel spends most of her time practicing instruments. She’s maxed out on DJing and Guitar, and pretty high in singing. Like 9 or something. She’ll work on Violin next, and maybe Piano. I’m not sure what any of that will really do for her, it just suits her narrative.
Here’s some proper headshots. I won’t be following this same format with every Sim, just kind of figuring this out as I go.
So here’s one of my newest concepts, Kassandra Sun. She was originally darker skinned. She started as a Dark Elf/Dunmer from TES like thing but that ashy black skintone doesn’t really ‘work’ with the animations. They look a bit blobby, and that’s probably why the community is complaining about some of the darker skintones in the game. I made her more human-dark and realized she looked like three of my other characters (very close to Relmyna with different hair) so I just Caucasian’d her up.
She’s my first foray into the acting career and so far I’m enjoying it, though it’s hard to tell how much fame I’m actually getting out of it. She’s a B-lister right now and that’s a pretty good place to be, some of the 3 star perks are very useful. Like how you can skip auditions and costuming and go straight to the role. So that’s cool.
I’ve also clearly given her some elven/magical descent because I’m a slut for those Plentiful needs potions.
Her current house is an upgrade from a starter but is mostly just a full prefab with an extension to put her relevant stuff. She paints on the side because I’m a slut for that painter money. She adopted a kitten named Kelly, whom I will manually age up in a season or two (I have aging disabled because some of my technically immortal character concepts were becoming elders without me noticing).
Now here comes my self insert, a trans girl named Livia Jones. I’ve talked about her in previous posts but nothing has really changed except her wardrobe. Even her default outfit has remained the same because I LOVE it and want it in real life. Pretty sure I have the pants at least.
She has a pet cat named Jailbird.
Interestingly, she does not have the “mischievous” trait... that I can remember. I just liked the outfit.
I will say this version of Livia slightly differs from my first world’s Livia, but probably not for very long. Right now she’s a writer and with a writer’s job. In the previous world, writing was a side gig (like it is IRL) but was a professional gamer as her actual job. I might actually be going back to that eventually but I’ll go down the Author career for a small while. Her royalties are up to ~3500 right now and that’s not bad, but I also liked the idea of streaming and I want to get back to that. It’d be closer to RL, but without all the money, fame, and success. Which is why I love this game.
This is Malia Tilo.
My attempt at an islander and mermaid, and eventually I want to delve into the eco mechanic of the island. She has a cat named Moana.
I’ve tried a couple different things with her, like living off the grid but there’s something generating 2 units of power and I can’t fucking find it.
I also experimented with the Naturalist thing from Wicked Whims but they tend to keep dressed when you’re on other Sims so it doesn’t really amount to much beyond some basic level titillation. I dress her fairly skimpily (given that the island is naturally hot) so she gets some Naturist skill over time anyway.
I haven’t played her much, even in my first world, because there’s not a lot going for her to interest me. Healing the island is a slow endeavor, and being a mermaid means I can’t farm up all those Plentiful Needs potions unless I get a spellcaster to move in with her, so in turn it makes running around the whole island an irritating affair. She has 583$ to her name and an easel at the ready but... Just not really in the mood to play her.
So here comes The Matriarch.
She should have a cat named Lazarus as well, which is an oversight on my part. I’ll work on it. Lorewise, she’s one of my oldest and most complex characters. Not much has changed for her in World 2, so I’ll just take some screenshots I already have:
She’s much nicer than she looks. She has -some- extra outfits and accessories now but that’s her main look in general.
I also found a lighting-type tattoo over her body which simulates part of her curse. The idea is that she was overcharged with some chaos magic a long time ago in her plotline, thus the fucked up face and bad teeth. The stuff you see on her face (typically a vampire thing) also goes through her entire body. I couldn’t find anything that does quite what I have in my head but... it’ll do.
I haven’t done much on her in World 2 yet, but I plan on downloading some type of black magic job mod so she can get to work proper. None of the odd jobs or anything suit her concept so I need something reclusive...
...like painting.
Don’t judge me.
That’s all for now. I still want to make a university student and engineer. I’ll get there eventually.

Hope for Humanity

According to World Heath Organization (WHO) "Depression is a common mental disorder affecting more than 264 million people worldwide". People in any ages can suffer depression. In this blog I will be presenting the hope that we all need to hear. I believe that one of the major things that we need to nurture is (aside from physical fitness) mental and emotional wellness. Throughout my research, I've found an article that entitles "Faith in Humanity: 10 Studies To Restore Your Hope For the Future" by Mark Barker, 2014. As I've browsed throughout it, I've found that everything in it relates our personal experiences. I have listed some of the topics from Mark Barker, yet I've add my insights about them. At the end of this blog I am anticipating to help bring hope and optimism for everyone.
First, you bounce back better from tougher problems (Mark Barker, 2014) I have seen other people fall and saw how great they were able to lift themselves up. Yes we may fall, yes we may fail but we will always persevere. From a study by Harvard happiness expert Daniel Gilbert, author of Stumbling on Happiness: People rationalize divorces, demotions, and diseases, but not slow elevators and uninspired burgundies. The paradoxical consequence is that people may sometimes recover more quickly from truly distressing experiences than from slightly distressing ones (Aronson & Mills, 1958; Gerard & Mathewson, 1966; Zimbardo, 1966)…
We might think that if we fail we will never get ourselves out of that problem. Well that are just the usual thinking that we always have at the back of our heads. As long as the world still revolves in its own axis we still have hope. Hope of tomorrow and hope for a rainbow after the rain.
Second, regret is not that scary (Mark Barker, 2014) I've read this line before from a book, (but I can't remember the exact title of it) "regret in taking a step out of something is not that bad, but regret of not taking that step is the worst". Many people out there wanted to take your place just to get that situation you are in, yet you don't have the guts to take that risk? It's just a matter of all or nothing. Whether you take them or not at all. You can never have your place in the middle, you'll always have to take a risk. I remembered from one of the videos I have watched before 'When Alexander the Great asked how did he conquered the world he said 'I did not stumble'. To stumble is to limp and have that fear of taking that risk. But what is that risk are you going to? Is it to 'take that all' or 'not at all'.
Third, “What Does Not Kill You Makes You Stronger” is often true (Mark Barker, 2014)
Let's take a look in how gold and silver are refined. They aren't refined by air, water yet they are refined with fire. Yes fire! This just shows us that 'the greater the trials the greater glory we can beheld'. Let us just look in the study that was conducted "A Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-being:
In a month, 1,700 people reported at least one of these awful events, and they took our well-being tests as well. To our surprise, individuals who’d experienced one awful event had more intense strengths (and therefore higher well-being) than individuals who had none. Individuals who’d been through two awful events were stronger than individuals who had one, and individuals who had three— raped, tortured, and held captive for example— were stronger than those who had two." Therefore, do not be dismayed about the things that were out of your control, but stand firm and keep going.
Fouth, sometimes terrible events make us better people (Mark Barker, 2014)
Things that we don't want to happen not just make us stronger but it helps us to become a better version of ourselves. A study entitles "The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success and Performance at Work" claims that, for certain, not just anecdotally, that great suffering or trauma can actually lead to great positive change across a wide range of experiences. After the March 11, 2004, train bombings in Madrid, for example, psychologists found many residents experienced positive psychological growth. So too do the majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer. What kind of positive growth? Increases in spirituality, compassion for others, openness, and even, eventually, overall life satisfaction. After trauma, people also report enhanced personal strength and self-confidence, as well as a heightened appreciation for, and a greater intimacy in, their social relationships.
This just made me realize that after an incident people are most likely to bring the best out of them. Let me just associate this with my father's personal experience. He was once addicted to alcohol. This then triggers him to become violent. When I was 7 years old he was involved in an accident which almost lead to his death. One of his kidney was removed and the doctor strongly suggest for him to quit drinking alcohol because that might lead to greater infections. He then changed and become more focus on our family than his own selfish desires.
Fifth, it is not bad to excel in different areas aside from what your family are inclined with.
This is probably one of the problems that we teenagers are facing. We were isolated in a thought that if our parents are mathematical inclined we ourselves could be one. This then gives parents a reason for them to dictate their children to be good at something because they are good at it. Well this 'concept' is definitely not true! In a study conducted by Benjamin Bloom 'After forty years of intensive research on school learning in the United States as well as abroad, my major conclusion is: What any person in the world can learn, almost all persons can learn, if provided with the appropriate prior and current conditions of learning.” He’s not counting the 2 to 3 percent of children who have severe impairments, and he’s not counting the top 1 to 2 percent of children at the other extreme… He is counting everybody else.' This then gives us a good representation that all things are learned and not passed by generations to generations. Also this gives us a concept that it is not bad to be someone your family never had.
Their are still 5 things that was explained in Mark Barker's article, yet those things are for you to find out. The references are indicated below so you are free to browse there anytime you wanted to.
In this part of my blog, I will be presenting 2 things that I think very crucial for us to be able to surpass negativity and promote optimism and hope.
First, reassurance. Yes reassurance. We all need to be reassured that things will and can changed the way we wanted it to be. But I think it is more important that we should let God change it the way He wanted it to be. There are many passages in the bible that said 'fear not'. This is something that we must all remember. This was mentioned not just once or twice or even thrice but many times it was mentioned, 'fear not'. I think God is trying to persuade us that no matter how dark the world would be we should 'fear not'. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. - John 14:27" Fear can be really destructive. I think this is a strong hold that isolates people and then it produces anxiety and depression. Alot of people nowadays fear. I don't think that it is wrong to be afraid, but it is destructive when you stay afraid. I was once isolated by fear. Fear of messing up, fear of social interactions and even fear of oral recitations. But one great thing that made me stand up and be encouraged is John 14:27 (see the verse that was presented earlier). It was God who then gave me this great courage to face any troubles that I might and I have encountered.
In 2 Chronicles 32: 7-8 King Hezekiah said to his troops “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. 8 With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said."
He pointed out that even the imposible can be made possible with God. I just wanted to show people how great God is. Let us just look how reassuring Psalms 13:5 is "I will rely on your constant love; I will be glad, because you will rescue me." Let us remember that the God we are serving is "the same yesterday and today and tomorrow" Hebrews 13:8
In this pandemic we still have our God to run to and that is something that we must be glad about. So run to Him and find refuge and reassurance for a greater tomorrow.
Lastly, we all need restoration. You may say 'ofcourse we all need restoration". But the question is 'where can we find restoration?'. Great question right? As we all knew in the book of Chronicles in the Bible it was all about the different men who became the kind of Israel. But the thing is, many of the kings in Israel before sinned against God that is the reason why the fall of Jerusalem occured. (But let me just add that before their destruction God sent his messengers- 2 Chronicles 36:15- to let the people know that if they don't repent and turn back to their God it would cause their destruction, yet they didn't listen). It was then in the book of Ezra where God did rescued His people by moving the heart of Cyrus to commission Sheshbazzar (other name is Zerubbabel) "the prince of Judah", to rebuild the Temple; 40,000 exiles return to Jerusalem led by Zerubbabel and Joshua the high priest. This then shows us that no matter how bad our situation is God is willing to restore everything in us. Let us also see the life of Job. At first he was really wealthy and he does all the things that pleased God, so Satan then persecuted Him and asked God to let Satan test Job. (I know some of you might think that God is unjust when He allowed Satan to persecute Job, but I think it is just for our own character development. As what I've mentioned earlier people who once gone through tough experience became a better version themselves) And throughout Job's trials he mocked at God and asked what sin did he did to let God suffered him like that. Inshort he started to asked God why all bad things happens to him. But the ending of this story is very interesting. God did RESTORED everything and he even had more than what he had before. This then reminds me of Romans 8:18 "The pain that you've been feeling can't compare to the joy that's coming."
In conclusion, it is not bad to cry and just let all your emotions out. But it is destructive to stay in that shadow of sorrow. We must all remember that even if you think no one out there wants to help, but be still God is willing to lift you up in that miry clay of fear, sadness, loneliness, sin and etc. Always remember that 'You can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth you.' Philippians 4:13.

How do months in 2020 manage to last years and yet end in the blink of an eye???
Anyway I did finish my TBR so...
1 -The Vampire Armand (The Vampire Chronicles 5) by Anne Rice
🌟🌟🌟
Sooo, this one was my least favorite the 1st time I read this series and I hoped to like it more since I wasn't finding Armand as annoying in the first 4 books but gosh I really feel Anne Rice doesn't have much love for characters that are not Lestat, cuz I feel Armand could have been intresting but the book lacks the passion and wit Anne adds everytime she writes Lestat so yeah it was pretty meh. I love the cover tho.
2.-Dead and Alive (Prodigal Son #3) - Dean R. Koontz
🌟🌟🌟🌟
I was plesantly surprised. I hadn't very high expectatives for this one cuz even though I enjoyed book 2 I thought the pacing was waaaaay too slow, the plot wasn't advancing much. But this one was super cool, it picked up inconcluse storylines from the 1st book and that CLIFFHANGER!!!! The romance between the detectives was meh, like I wish I had liked them both more but the Erikas have my heart and I want to see more of Deucalion.
3.- Wild Cards I - George R. R Martin
🌟🌟
I was so disappointed. Ok so the concept is pretty cool. Like an alien virus is set loose and it causes some people to have amazing superpowers and other people gets terrible mutations, What's not to like??? But oh my fucking god. The mysogyny of this book. I can usually read books with mysogyny like I enjoy classics like 1984 despite the rampant way in which the protagonist hates woman. I couldn't handle it here. The female characters have less dimension than a sheet of paper and they depend entirely on the male characters it ruined the whole thing for me, and the writing was mediocre at times (I mean I know this was written by multiple authors but at points the quality of the writing droped like super hard) I am not picking the next one.
4.-My Sister the Serial Killer - Oyinkan Braithwaite
🌟🌟🌟🌟
I just love horror stories where a pretty girl is the killer. Like they are so enjoyable. And this particular story is so good because we have this 2 sisters, they are very different, one is like the epítome of beauty and the other is an average woman. The pretty one literally can do no wrong in everyones eyes and that’s just fine cuz she just so happens to kill her boyfriends. Her sister who is a nurse helps her clean up and get rid of the bodies because at first she believes they were abusive towards her sister but then she starts to get suspicious and things are super cool and intresting. I feel it could have gone deeper with some stuff but it was a great and quick read.
5.- Moloka'i - Alan Brenett
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I cried so much. This book is about Rachel, a girl diagnosed with leprosy at 7 years old during the 1890's and is sent away to live at the leprosarium in Moloka'i, Hawaii. We follow Rachel as she makes friends and family and loses them all over again to the sickness as she grows older. This book was so beautiful and pretty diverse (I loved Leilani I had never seen trans representation in a 19th century book) full of history and humanity. An amazing read I fully recommend it.
6.- New Suns: Original speculative fiction by people of color - Nisi Shawl.

I Loved it. One of my main problems with anthologies is that inevitably I find some stories better than other but that was not the case here, every story had an intresting premise and amazing writing (my fave was maybe the one with the lesbian mermaid or the one were a woman raised the death to get rid of colonizers) like I need to read more from all these authors ASAP.
7.- Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoyevski
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I love me some good classic. This one is really amazing , I love how much we get into Raskolinov's psyche and the things that lead him to comit the crime and the effect it has on him once he does. And all this conversation about morality and if it's ever valid to commit a crime even if it's for the "greater good" and all that good stuff about how people trapped in poverty are more likely to fall down the rabbit whole of prostitution and crime and yassssss it was good,
8.- A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I struggled like I should have known they would use the slang like in the movie (but I watched the movie in Spanish) so I was just vibing in the first few pages of the book barely understanding shit, except those words in other lenguages and then I started to pick it up and the book is so good??? Like Alex is awfull but the book actually makes a compeling argument about free will and the concept of choosing between good or evil. In general terms the movie is super accurate tho and yeah I really enjoyed this read.
9.- The Winter of the Witch (Winternight #3) - Katherine Arden
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I LOVED it. This book absolutely messed me up. Like I suffered a lot for my girl Vasya. And then all the stuff with the Bear and Morozco and the war, ahhhhh it was a LOT, but the ending was pretty satisfying, I cried tons and I am hoping we get another saga maybe following Marya this time????? I will just read anything Katherine Arden writes tbh.
10.-Lifestyles of Gods and Monsters - Emily Roberson

It was ok??? I wished it had been more about the sisters together as opposed to make Ariadne "not like the other girls" I am sick of that trope, and the "beautiful but doesn't know it" and less about the romance. Like the premise of retelling this greek myth as a reality show actually picked my interest but the execution wasn't that great it had lots of clichés I hate and mentioned before, what I kinda liked was that even though Ariadne had a romance she decides to start over by herself when things kinda fall apart and she is maybe open to dating another dude at the end, which honestly was a relief for me cuz I feel a lot of time YA pushes this idea that your first love is the only love you'll ever feel and that’s dumb .
11.-The Glass Menagerie - Tennessee Williams

I really love this play, well Tennessee Williams plays in general, and aire felt like re reading this one. I love Laura so much and it was a pleasure to read this again.
12.-In the Miso soup - Ryu Murakami

This is a very gorey book. Lots of graphic murders and violence, mentions of the sex trade in Japan. This was a very intresting read, lots of insight into the japanese society and how this very cliché image people have of it is completely wrong. Again sex trade is heavily discused as our protagonist makes a living out of taking foreigners to experience the sex clubs in Tokyo he meets this sketchy american guy who hires him, our protagonist has a feeling he might be a murderer and it goes from there. I really enjoyed it a lot and might consider reading another book by Ryu Murakami.
13.- The Downstairs Girl - Stacey Lee

It was amazing to read about an asian girl in the post-civil war era, and how this minority kind of lived in a limbo cuz white people didn't think much about them when making up all this crap ass rules about where PoC where supposed to live in or sit. And our protagonist Jo, is really a charming girl with a lot of opinions and so passionate I loved her so much. It was a bit cheesy at times, and I saw the book's big reveal coming but still it was a pretty good read.

Y las mezclan con un terror por lo desconocido y lo no visto que encaja tan bien en cada una de las historias. Realmente lo disfrute muchísimo y me gustaría leer más trabajos de este autor.

I am weak for the greek plays. And this rocks so much. Chlymenestra is a queen, I stan her so hard. This play always makes me feel so bad for Cassandra, like how shitty is it to have the power to make super accurate predictions but no one ever believes you???

So @cartoonshi (te) is still a huge piece of shit and I’ve been bard from his comment section but that didn’t mean I wasn’t gonna screen cap my final reply when I had the chance.
Though if @diregentleman could please speak with this piece of cartoon shit and tell him that he needs to take every single comment from me and response to me in the thread down and delete and un-favorite the initial comment that started people picking on me if he wants me to think that he has half of the amount of human decency that [you] dirementleman actually does... CartoonSHIT* responding to me responding to some more harassment I was getting for my original comment that I left that Cartoonshite himself favorited and “hearted” because he apparently thought that him and his fanbase making a Crippled girl puke was the funniest thing ever and then called me “triggered” for calling him out after giving me no explanation or context as to why he favorited my original comment or found it funny other than putting me on display for the concept of “cringe”, which he confirmed to me when he proceeded to call me ‘triggered” the first time*: “Hey so before you say I deleted your comments that were in my spam folder again, I wanted to you that I’m deleting them because you’re making a fool out of yourself. Not only did you track me down on Tumblr just to try and call me out with an account I don’t even use, only to immediately delete your posts the second I responded, but you are also ....” [And that’s where I cut him off because I just don’t care also he blatantly publicly lied twice here and gaslit me to make himself look good but we’ll get to that...]

Okay so, that’s the final comment I could leave because Cartoonshi bard me from commenting and this final response I made to him doesn’t show up when I refreshed the page and I knew that was gonna happen so that’s why I screen capped it, but uh... He’s a self important piece of shit and a coward and a liar. Because:
I love how he makes it out like I “tracked him down” on tumblr as if that’s some kind of stalker-ish behavior as if I didn’t just assume that his tumblr would probably be the same as his YouTube handle and as if I couldn’t find that basic information out in 2seconds just by @ing him because, ya know. I couldn’t accurately provide the evidence of his fanbase sending me virtual dicks and calling me a cunt directly in his comment section, but... He’s trying to frame the fact that I had enough common sense to just @ him the screenshots over tumblr as the big harassment fiasco here. Yeah I can totally get where his fanbase who call me an “absolute fucking creep” for being excited over basic public information like the fact that Eden Sher is an author and the fact that Daron Nefcy is having a baby and the fact that the voice actress of my favorite adult character in Star vs. The Forces of Evil has the exact same freaking kink as me and I can finally put a name to it and not feel ashamed of wanting to practice it and study how to do it safely one day because Esmé Bianco A.K.A Eclipsa (”Yes My Kink”) Butterfly has it so proudly and causally listed on her Twitter profile that she occasionally does this, get their logic from ... As for me mentioning the fact that me and Esmé just so happen to share the same kink here... I mean what? It’s Pride Month! (The children reading this should be sensible enough to know not to follow Esmé Bianco on Twitter yet and not to look up what that word is...)
Cartoonshite outright telling me that he “barely uses” tumblr after this because he thinks I’d even want to look twice at his tumblr as if I barely did because he somehow thinks that I’m somehow interested in his tumblr usage habits. These next two things are just blatant lies and gaslighting on Cartoonshites part even though I didn’t even read that far until I realized so I’m just gonna point out these lies for what they are now because, for one thing not only was my original post with the @cartoonshi and the screen-caps linked in my last reply to him as well in the ID above, but will no longer show up in the original thread because he’s censoring me from defending myself at this point because he probably knew I would just link him the aforementioned “deleted” post in response, which I did, because that was my first instinct of what to do without even read through his accusation of having deleted my post and just pointing out the fact all I did was defend myself providing direct evidence of his fanbase harassing me, which the exact reason why he censored my comments, because he knew that I would just respond with the direct link to the post he had just said I deleted without my own even so much as realizing he had claimed I had deleted that post because I couldn’t even care enough to read all the way through his comments so he knew I would just reply with a direct link to the post that he just got through telling me and everyone else I had deleted along with publicly shaming me for deleting a post that I clearly DID NOT delete and that would make him look bad. The reason cartoonshite is this angry is because I called him a creepy virgin and told him to get a life and blocked him and I can tell because at the very end of spouting all of his self important, exaggerated, babble on bullshit which contained bold face lies so good thing I didn’t read through anyway, he told me to “get a life”, but the reason I didn’t ~“immediately”~ in his own words, drop everything and reply to him “*the second he responded*” as he informed me I had apparently done so in his self important fantasy, but in my reality only two days after he had reblogged my original post, containing examples both his harassment of me as well as his fans, which cartoonshi also was so kind to inform me I had apparently deleted in his self important fantasy, was because I was too busy keeping up with the protests and sourcing information and making donations and buying a new set of bedding from IrenHorrors Society6 to even notice him in my notes until two days later. Because that’s what people with actual lives that don’t revolve around being angry and bitter about what happens in western cartoons about magical children and making bad, angry, bitter videos about media aimed at pre-teen children and the political ramifications about the goings on in a fictional teenagers life do- Actually support artists and care about in real life people. When has Cartoonshi ever cared about or supported anyone? You can say it was harsh of me to bully this Virgin Weeaboo Britfuck but in my opinion any fully grown man who would respond to my personal concerns with: “LOL why are you so triggered?” deserves it and I don’t care what they have to say especally now since they blatantly spewing bold face lies after they’re the ones who made me throw up. Here I am with a new song analysis in “Lyrical Love”! Today’s subject is a song by the Japanese rock singer Morrie, precisely Paradox, the lead song and second track of his first solo album Ignorance, come out on 21st November 1990. The human existence, in all its good and bad aspects, is seen as a paradox by the society, the mass, who lives only through ignorance and apathy. Morrie shows off his philosophical side in a compact song, with enigmatic shades and a deeper message, which engages everybody, one way or another.

hi there, i was wondering if you help me type myself. i used to type as a enfp, but i retook the the test like a couple months ago and tried to be more realistic ab myself and i got entp. that was sufficient enough for me but i tend to hyper-fixate on concepts that intrigue me bc i wanna know all ab it and stuff. i took another test from the personality hacker (the others were 16personalities) and i got intj consistently 1/5
im a perfectionist and when i have a vision for a project, i have the work ethic to execute it details and all. when i plan something i have one overarching plan then several contingency plans for that plan then alternatives to those plans. my therapist says i live too much in the future, i don’t appreciate what i have today bc i’m too busy planning tomorrow, that i don’t accept things for what they are bc i’m pondering what they could/should be or i think too deeply ab superficial stuff 2/5

I am leaning towards ENTP.
Part 1: tests suck and honestly if someone doesn’t get INTJ on a free MBTI test I start to wonder what their deal is. Literally everyone gets INTJ. It’s bullshit.
Part 2: having a plan and living too much in the future without focusing on what you have now are most commonly associated with high Ni, but Ni is also not in my experience as good at contingencies. I would rule out high Se, but either high Si (planning and contingencies) or high Ne would be possible. Your writing style reminds me more of Si-Ne users and particularly high Ne users as does the statement of thinking very deeply about superficial stuff, so I’m putting a pin in that for now.
Part 3: most people get hunches - I’ve had some seriously strong (and correct) ones in my life and my intuition is last, because those hunches require an understanding of changed sensory signs typically (eg: weird behavior triggers the idea that something is up and then you can reason your way through what might be going on). However, frequently trusting hunches without waiting for confirmation is more consistent with intuition.
For the part regarding rules this is a case where examples are absolutely crucial. I spend a lot of my time at work arguing with high Ti users, for example, and both of us firmly feel we’re being the logical and efficient one, so it’s hard to do any typing with out understanding. Not liking authority but liking being in control sounds more like it could come from enneagram, but also it would be consistent with either ENFP or ENTP.
Part 4: Being private emotionally is also somewhat dependent on other factors - both Ne-dom types actually can be very private emotionally in my experience, which is where I’m leaning at this point. I think it’s also worth looking into what sort of balance you need regarding people; I don’t typically find Ne-aux types to be super nurturing, and everyone needs some time alone so it’s worth considering that part outside of MBTI; plenty of extroverts under the MBTI system are fairly close to the middle when it comes to actual alone time requirements.
Part 5: Not liking conflict but liking to argue is often a hallmark of high Ti, and again, it’s really important to understand what people mean by efficiency. For example: Te users are perfectly happy to brute force a solution if it’s an urgent problem/one-time issue, because in their mind, the efficient thing is to get it done when it’s needed and a little busywork is fine as it saves a lot of time designing the perfect system. Ti users don’t think this way typically; they see most brute force solutions as inherently inefficient because they can’t be reused. (apologies for some of my notes on high Ti; today was a particularly difficult Te vs. Ti argument day at work)
With regards to looping: if you don’t have a confident typing of your baseline, I really do not believe it’s possible to reliably type what your loop behavior is. Which isn’t to say that you’re wrong about your stress behavior - withdrawing and overanalyzing is very common stress behavior and I would say it’s extremely likely and understandable in fact for an ENTP under stress - it’s just not a loop in the very narrow MBTI definition.

Why Ti is cool for INTJs

INTJs are big morons. There, I said it.
So many of us INTJs seem to think that somehow thoughts go through some amazing process and become objective, when in fact the only thing that’s self-evidently objective about the process is that it has some culturally-approved seal of authority on it. Like, say, a scientific study to which we blindly give our allegiance in casual conversation with friends. “I saw a study that said you shouldn’t eat X because it’s linked with Alzheimer’s.”
Or, we think we can go through some magical process of becoming objective. Let’s start by memorizing all of the logical fallacies, shall we? That will protect us against wrongness! We’ll be safe from fallacious thinking! (I still shake my head at some of the ridiculous logical-fallacy-quoting I’ve heard from depressed INTJs who can’t figure out why they suck at life, but want to filter out every even remotely subjective answer to their problems. Can I get a sympathy cringe? But that’s for another article)
Or, let’s say we don’t just quote some study as evidence of how right we are, and stop there. No, this time we actually dig deeper and see patterns in the data. And before we’re even done reviewing the data, we conclude that pattern X is missing and therefore the research is trash. “Something something something P-values.” Am I right?
Or, we argue with people and ask for the evidence.
If we’re not asking for the evidence, we imply that no information is intractable to the INTJ brain. Especially no information of which we are not big fans. “Tell me,” we say to an unenlightened friend or colleague, “which method of yours that you’re so proud of, do you think is the very best that you can recommend to me?” We patiently wait while the person we asked looks around for the nearest fire escape. Well, I’m here to tell you that Ti is indeed important. And yes, I agree that if we’re not using it, we’re not really using our brain, at least not in the ideal way.
When we use Ti, according to Dr. Dario Nardi, we refer to, apply, align, and refine a framework. Dr. Nardi suggests that INTJs study and learn how to apply Ti in their lives.
[“APPEAL TO AUTHORITY,” I hear some INTJ reader proclaim, as they stomp off, perhaps tabling the issue of wrestling with life’s problems for a more optimistic day. Hashtag logicalfallacies.]
What’s a framework? Think of a set of rules. For example, “Rules for Having a Good Day.”
In fact, don’t just think about it, start on it right now. It will involve using your brain. And, perhaps painfully, it will involve lots of subjective thought (only painful if you were really tied to your objectivity-as-ego. Please drop that guard just a little bit, just make more room for the subjective in order to help yourself).
Applying your Te (extraverted thinking) should be natural for you. When you use Te, you typically refer to, align, and refine a measuring device. For example, the scientific method. Or some other standard for measuring thought, results, whatever.
Te is super helpful. Very often INTJs will need to drone on and on about their problems, not in an emotional way, but in a very detached way. Typically what this is doing is clearing a space in which they can measure the extent of their problems and come to some conclusions. It’s helpful. It’s healthy.
Going back to Ti, I think most INTJs don’t really use it much. But I also think they enjoy it when they do.
I’m going to bring the blog post to an end here and encourage you to do this exercise:
First, list some problems in your life:
I am doing terrible at my job
I am doing terrible in my relationship with so-and-so
I hate myself for doing unhealthy activity X when I’m stressed out
Now, for each of those problems:
Refer to a framework or set of rules relating to the problem (do some research OR create your own draft framework, including leverage points that come to mind. I encourage trying the latter because Te will bias you toward the former)
Apply the framework. Put it into practice next time the problem comes up. i. To develop a framework, look for points of leverage. You might isolate specific activities, for example, that really give you a boost in overcoming this specific types of problem.
Refine the framework. Make the framework more elegant over time. i. This is super important. If you let the framework stagnate, you cannot benefit from the compounding energy that results from its continual application and refinement. a. Yes, I do mean that it is like compounding interest in finance. Very good. ii. Yes, this means possibly altering someone else’s idea with lots of creative license. Fun! a. Yes, a lot of INTJs get stuck here. They don’t always like altering things! That was a perfectly objectively good framework with nice clip art to accompany it! What if I break it! What if it blows up in my face after I make changes?
If you persist in this activity I think you’ll find an amazing thing happens: You’ll feel like you have a lot more leverage in your life.
Do you see how hands-on it is? You get to build something really powerful. I love it. So:
Try it! Get more subjective. And don’t go right for Google to apply your Google-fu to find the world’s best pre-existing framework, tucked inside a PDF on some website employing weak file download obfuscation. Make your own, make it apply just to the very specific problem that you have. Then make it scale into a world-class framework meriting its own PDF later if you’d like.
I have shared this with other INTJs and it absolutely activated them. I keep a bunch of text files in a folder called “Frameworks.” Under that I have a Work folder, a Family folder, and so on.
