And imagine if sjm wrote it solely to show in the next book that it was an outside force influencing his thoughts? What then? Cuz sjm surely didn't write it in a way that seems natural. Clotho said/wrote "she deserves something as beautiful as this and i thank you for the joy it shall bring to her" and all of a sudden there's a spark in his chest and he can see an image of gwyns teal eyes? Even though moments ago he thought that he wouldn't consider gwyn a friend? And how did sjm word his thought about seeing the image? "For whatever reason... he could see it" doesn't seem like he naturally thought of her. If he did it wouldn't be "for whatever reason".

•His shadows, acted unusual. Did not sense gwyns present before he was there.

• His actions, not in his control. He had every intention to return the necklace to the shop but found himself standing before Clotho as the clock chimed seven in the evening.

• His thoughts, seems to be under some sort of influence. Otherwise he wouldn't be like "for whatever reason".

That scene was not written to have romantic undertone. It was written to be suspicious and eerie. And sjm did her best on hofas to prove the gwynriel "mate bond theory" wrong. But y'all took it as parallel language/hints.

"Like if hes the man you want for Elain thats just sad honestly, this is a romance book, I want my male endgames absolutely smitten and invested in the fmcs, with NO turning back once it started, but I guess thats just me"

Lol Then why do you ship gwynriel ? Azriel has zero romantic feelings for gwyn.

I’m so happy you put this together! They actually serve as examples of how WHOLESOME that scene was.

I see literally zero evidence that all of this was because of Gwyn’s powers that we haven’t even had the confirmation of, and in no way it was written eerily. It was written to be wholesome. It was the perfect antithesis to the wrongness of the scene with Elain. I am so sorry that your ship sank.

His shadows were content with her. They skittered AWAY with Elain (this is a bad connotation in contrast)

“He found himself” is a term that is ALWAYS used when mates find themselves doing something they didn’t expect, he wasn’t being controlled, but believe what you want without any canon evidence. He found the necklace was going to give it back but thought someone might like it, so he found himself taking it to her.

“For whatever reason” is just a way to say he didn’t know why, not because it is eerie, if it was he at least would have SOME type of suspicion on it, but he just tucked the glowing spark in his chest away inside him, like how you tuck something inside of your pockets. He could have said “he shoved those weird thoughts away” but he didn’t did he…?

Look, this is a fantasy book, it’s not that serious but you gotta admit you’re reaching at some point. The scene was so obviously romantic in a way Azriel (nor us) were expecting it. And after that scene, we never got even a whiff of elriel while we got even more Gwynriel golden banter, and remember, hes the new ribbon ✨

If anything, even if Gwyn’s powers were “guiding him” which won’t happen because thats stupid and negates too much of Gwyn’s character, it will only add to their story, a parallel of them both thinking they’re monsters, but realizing they too are worthy of love, because what will not happen is Gwyn being evil/a villain, shes an incredible character, an SA survivor, part of Nesta’s incredible found family, SJM modelled her after one of her friends, think again.

Elriel sank by itself with his messed up thoughts about Elain, him just wanting to have one night of fucking her, saying he has not had ONE THOUGHT about a plan to be with her, did not correct Rhys on what’s his status regarding Mor, told her it was a mistake (could’ve used anything other than that), displayed toxic behavior that we know Elain is against (saying he will fight in a duel for her and kill her mate?) and even realized he had been RIGHT to stay away from her.

But yeah blame the “lightsinger” for all of this too i guess??

Also thats so cute shadowsinger x lightsinger make a beautiful parallel couple!

Class 1-b and random videogames they like <3

Awase - mario cart, something about hitting his friends with red shells and stealing first place last second really makes his day <3

Sen - he doesn't play video games by himself a lot but him and the rest of the common sense kings have game nights where he is either so good that its scary or so bad that its laughable... worse part is no one knows which it will be that day.

Kamakiri - any fps game really. Halo, cod, fortnite, as long as he gets to cuss out 12 year olds in the lobby hes happy.

Kuroiro - gothic horror games that dont rely on jump scares to scare you, so like Little Nightmares and games like that.

Kendo - she likes a mixture of different types but mostly open world and cozy games. She mostly lets game osts run in the background while she does other stuff.

Kodai - splatoon. Specifically the story mode and salmon run. She used to play ranked and turf wars but she got too good at it so she stopped lmao. Seriously though she is scary good at this game and this game only.

Komori - farming sims. Specifically ones like stardew valley or sunhaven. She will stay up til ungodly hours and just be like "i need these fucking turnips to grow damnit.."

Shiozaki - simple moble games like flappy bird or crossy road, other than that she doesn't really play video games

Shishida - grandpa mindset so he doesn't know what a video game is, loves playing board games with his friends though

Shoda - i dont think he plays a lot of videogames but he is strangely good at multi-player games, shoda wins the class mario cart tournaments every time and he doesn't even know how to drift

Pony - Tomadachi pet games (idk if thats what they are called lol) where its just a little pocket pet that you have to keep alive, she will get stressed if she forgets to feed it and its actually adorable <3

Tsubaraba - LOZ:Tears Of The Kingdom

Tetsutetsu - save the princess type games because its manly to help those in need of saving. (He also has over 5000 hours in hello kitty island adventure)

Tokage - idk why but I feel like she has hundreds of games no one has ever heard of. She only has like 5 or 6 hours in most of them but theres one shitty as game she lets rot in the corner thats her favorite. How tf do you have 20000 hours in 'block game HD'

Manga - Genshin Impact. He downloaded it as a meme at first but then he got invested in the storyline and characters backstorys. Definitely found himself crying at 3am because of the inazumas mushrooms backstory (they do be dead kids tho)

Honenuki - I dont think he plays a lot of videogames but when he does, he sucks. Idc how many hours he has in whatever game he will find a way to lose every time. Its kinda sad to watch honestly. T-T

Bondo - those games where you start off with boxes full of shit and you have to organize it in the room or you have to organize the water by color. Stuff like that

Monoma - classic save the princess type games. Mario, Loz, ect. He needs to feed his savior/ superiority complex and these games do it quickly

Reiko - horror games that dont look like horror games. Like they start off all pastel and cute then over time it gets darker and darker. Like omori.

Rin - he only plays videogames with people. (So the common sense kings game nights and class mario cart tournaments) but he does play solitair and sun haven rarely. Also if pony for some reason cant take care of her virtual pets today she gives them to rin because hes the best virtual pet sitter. <3

Idk why but for some of the class on this I struggled so badly </3 I still like how most of it came out tho.

SECRET SECRET / hwang hyunjin au / CHAPTER 1

authors note; im so excited to be sharing the first episode of secret secret with you guys! im hoping that you enjoy reading this as much as I did with writing it !

Hyunjin loved it. He loved every second of doing this.

He felt so much at peace, so much comfort and so much relief in what he is doing.

Drawing, painting, sketching.

In his apartment, alone, with soft music playing in the background of his slight messy room due to paint brushes and paper, with his hair being brushed back with a hairband, and wearing a glove to not get his hand messy.

His friends always call him an old soul. They cant seem to understand the passion the long haired male has for art.

But he didnt mind that.

They got along nevertheless, having the time of their lives together, being best of friends ever since attending highschool.

Now theyre adults, free from school and deciding to work together. Even living at the same place.

Hyunjin, Bangchan, and Jisung.

Its a weird trio, honeslty, because their interests are nothing alike.

Well, only some of them aren’t.

What they equally find interesting is music. Making, producing and dancing to music. They loved it.

Thats the reason why the young three males own a little group, gaining a bit of followers on soundcloud, following to grow even bigger on youtube.

Jisung being the songrwriter, Bangchan the producer and Hyunjin the dancer.

They loved what they were doing. Music was like a golden pear keeping them as best friends.

They do say you get along best with people that are nothing like you.

No one believes the story on how they met. Because how can three people who absolutely hated the guts of each other, end up sharing an apartment, living together ever since?

They dont know how that worked out, but it definitely did and theyre glad it did.

All three have different kinds of interests besides music, and they all respect that.

Hyunjins interests just happened to be art.

He loved painting his surroundings, his thoughts, pictures he captured, moments he shared with his friends full of joy and happiness.

As well as his dreams.

He cant seem to get tired of it. Ever.

Ever since that one dream.

It was something about dreaming, that inspired him so much. He found it so interesting to think how the human brains works and how it processes past experiences through dreaming.

Every now and then he remembers another detail of the dream, immediately sketching it, so he wont forget.

See, some people write down their dreams, Hyunjin likes to draw them.

Which is honestly way more difficult.

Since with every day that passes, the fear of forgetting grows bigger.

Sketch after sketch he would try his best to draw every detail of the female.

Why was he so invested in it?

Because it was the first and last time he’d seen her. Every night he would pray to see her once again, how he would do everything to talk to her, hear her beautiful voice again, looking into her angelic eyes again.

But nothing.

Thats what made him so invested. He understood every reason behind his dreams, associating them with his reality and experiences. But what was this one about?

He softly drew her hair, how they swayed in the wind and breeze, the hem of dress following the movements, and her gentle, sparkly face.

Her eyes were the most difficult part.

Why is it that, the part he remembers the most were her eyes, but also were the hardest to draw?

Sketch after sketch he’d try again, thinking the more he’d draw her, the more perfect he would remember her.

Did he tell his friends about his dream?

Yes.

Did he tell them she was the girl he kept drawing?

No.

They didnt, and shouldnt know anything about him drawing the girl of his dreams.

What they know is that one dream keeps him up at night, that he wishes to dream the same thing again.

His friend realised ever since that one specific dream, he has been acting different.

As if he got reminded of something bad happening in his past life.

But they never dared to ask. Because even Hyunjin didnt have an answer to that.

With a knock on the door, he got distracted from his thoughts.

“Jinnie, we are going out to eat, wanna come?” Jisung asked, not fully entering and only reaching his head out the door.

Hyunjin sat on his bed, the sketchbook in his hand taking a look at it again.

He hated it. It looked nothing like her.

He always messed up her eyes.

He sighed.

Maybe he needs a break, some fresh air.

“Sure, I’ll get ready.”

They were at their favourite cafe, being regual customers ever since they moved here, across the street. It was small, never full and fit their vibes and comfort just perfect.

“Not going to lie I am a bit nervous…” Chan fiddled his fingers, playing with the straw of his drink.

Jisung rose an eyebrow. “Why? Everything will be fine. We’ve been waiting for this since forever,” he replied.

Chan sighed, nodding. “I know but… arent you nervous one bit? After all we have been working with them for so long, and are finally meeting them in real life…”

Hyunjin agreed. As much as he was excited to finally have some movements in their career, he would lie if he said he wasnt nervous or anxious.

What if they dont get along? What if they’re completely different than what they acted like through all the video calls?

“Listen, guys. We know them for what, six months now? We know them, theyre our friends. We are finally going to meet and work with them. Theres no need to be scared.”

Jisung was right.

They werent strangers.

"Im really excited to see Changbin. That man is a genius," Chan praised his internet friend.

How they met wasnt really anything special. Chan just happened to scroll through instagram, seeing one of his mutuals follow Changbin, talking about how thankful he is to be promoting their newest work.

Chan checked Changbins page out. And was immediatly amazed.

Changbin was also a producer of a small group of 4.

The male never showed shame to slide in his dms, complimenting Changbin for his amazing work.

And thats how they met.

Talking about music from day until night, they eventually started to work on tracks together.

Which finally lead them to see each other after 6 months of working together.

"Im excited to see them all," Jisung added.

"There were two people we havent met even online though, right?" Chan asked.

Jisung nodded. "Yep, We heard them, but didnt get to see them yet. Cant wait."

Bangchan pulled out his phone, opening instagram. "I think Changbin posted a pic recently with them,” he said, scrolling through Changbins page.

“Oh my god, that guy looks so cute,” Bangchan said, zooming on the blonde guy, face covered in freckles and his smile brighter than the sun.

“Damn, and the other one looks… intimidating,” Jisungs eyes widened slightly, grabbing Chans phone out of his hand to see if theres more.

“Wait, whos the girl?” Jisung asked, showing Chan the photo on his phone.

Chan looked confused, since he has never seen the girl before. But on the picture Changbin looked very close with the female.

“Friends, I guess? He would’ve introduced us to her if she was in their group as well.”

Whilst Chan and Jisung were scrolling through Chabgbins Instagram page, Hyunjin took his time to get out his sketchbook again.

He took every chance he could to spend time trying to perfect his drawings, yet he was never ever satisfied.

“Your book is going to be full again if you keep redrawing, Hyunjin…” Jisung interrupted him, making him sigh.

“Is it still about the dream?” Chan asked.

Hyunjin was embarrassed. Because it was still about the dream. It has always been ever since the dream.

“I just cant get myself to like it. Its never the way I saw it,” Hyunjin sighed, closing his book.

“Maybe if you’d actually show us what you’re drawing all the time, we could help.”

But Hyunjin never showed them. Even he thought its weird that hes obsessing over that, so what would his friends think if they see him draw him a girl 100 times a day.

“I want to show you guys when im fully comfortable with my work,” he explained, which he said everytime.

And his friends respected that.

“Are you drawing us maybe? A little gift?” Jisung pouted, making Chan giggle and hitting him on his shoulder.

“Yeah yeah,” Hyunjin laughed. “Sure Jisung.”

The rest of the night the three guys took their time to get back into work, being in their full element of doing their thing.

“You two better at least today get some sleep. We need to be fit and presentable tomorrow,” Jisung yawned, slowly making his way to the door, to his room.

“We’ll try,” Chan smiled, waving his friends off.

When it was just the two, Chan stretched himself, walking towards the blonde male. “You’re ready to sleep?”

Hyunjin shrugged his shoulders. “I have to try, but before that i will clean my room a bit.”

“Good, then go, ill finish up some work and will head to bed as well.”

Which was a lie.

Chan cant sleep, hes been struggling with insomnia since forever, yet his friends still encouraged him to try, though it was helpless.

Hyunjin on the other hand, was just a night owl. He loved sleeping, but also enjoyed the silence, peaceful nights.

So the second he plopped on his bed again, he took out his sketchbook.

Flipping through the pages, he took his time to observe and focus on the details.

Her eyes.

Her eyes stood out the most, her eyes were the first thing he noticed and the last thing he remembers.

So why, why cant he draw them just like he has them in mind?

He shook his head, closing the book. He knew if he goes into grabbing is pencil, hed not stop until its daylight.

Hyunjin wasnt a perfectionist, yet he wanted the girl of his dreams to look perfect, just like he remembered her.

He hopes, he wishes and prays to see her just once. This one more time.

And it looked like his prayers didnt work out once again, since he groaned with a stretch, turning off his alarm clock.

But its fine.

Thats what he always tells himself after waking up.

At least today, he tried not to think about it too much.

Today was all about meeting the other boygroup.

What do you wear when you’re first meeting up with people?

Though Changbin and his friends saw each other at their most comfortable state, in nothing but joggers, oversized pyjamas, he still wanted to look good, to at least have a good first impression in real life.

Everyone admired Hyunjin for his sense of fashion. He enjoyed simple things, yet his style was far from simple.

Even if he doesnt try to be stylish, and just puts on whatever, he always manages to style any outfit.

Today was all about black pants with a white buttoned shirt. He decided to keep his hair in a side part, and finished himself up with some perfume.

“We’re going to meet our friends, not a royal Family,” Jisung dropped, after Hyunjin entered the living room.

He stopped and looked down at himself, “Too much?”

With a “yes” from Jisung and an “Only if you’re next to us which is always the case” from Chan, Hyunjin decided to leave it on.

And just like that, they sat at their place in the diner again, waiting for his friends to arrive. It might take awhile, but they werent sure for how long.

“If they take any longer im going to fall asleep,” Jisung sighed, dropping his head on the table.

“Im sure theyll be here soon,” Chan said, starting to lose patience too.

“Ill just go to the toilet,” Hyunjin said, and as he was about to get up, Chan grabbed him.

“But they could be here any minute.”

Hyunjin sighed. “You said the same thing ten minutes ago, itll be fine and im quick.”

Hyunjin went to the bathroom with his head tilted down. He was so upset with himself. Washing his hands he looked up to his reflection in the mirror.

He hated it.

He hated how obvious it was that he's not in the best mood. He doesn't remember the last time he looked cheerful or actually enjoyed doing something.

Even his most favourite activity was pressuring him, so he couldn't even enjoy what he loved doing most.

He kept repeating in his head that he got this, trying to cheer himself up with a sad smile on his face.

He didnt even understand why that dream was affecting him that drastically. And the fact he has no other drives him even more insane.

Trying to shake the overthinking off, he walked back to their table, where he stopped walking midway, when he saw that the new people arrived already.

He didnt realize how long it has been since he last met new people. He was praying his first impression wouldn't be a complete disaster.

Comic List + Thoughts

so basically i'm just gonna compile a list of all the comics i've read and write a little commentary about them - this is mostly for my own benefit because my memory is pitiful so i need physical evidence of what i've read.

Nightwing Vol. 1: Leaping into the Light (2021)

I enjoyed this! I think it was a good beginner point for the most part because i came here with an interest mostly in Nightwing. I liked the art, and while i was a bit confused bc i knew next to nothing about this universe, so therefore did not understand any of the references they made. i still enjoyed it, the writers keep new readers in mind, and don't necessarily regret reading it first.

Robin/Batgirl: Year One (2002)

this one was good too. I got a bit bored at times but it was a good introduction to batgirl/barbara and how she started and got to be involved with the bats. (basically them just following her around while Barbara's like 'leave me alone tf')

Batman: Dark Victory (1999-2000)

also pretty good, I was kinda bored until Dick came in (mostly because he's the character i've really become invested in so far) but i loved seeing the very beginning of his character. sidenote: i love alfred

Batman Chronicles: The Gauntlet (1997)

this one was fun to read! I dont have a whole lot of commentary on it but it was more good backstory and seeing dick as robin.

Robin and Batman (2022)

I LOVED the artwork. watercolor is loml. but about the actual story: i also enjoyed it. Baby Dick is unhinged i love it. also it was the beginning of me not really liking batman??? i wasnt really expecting that... WFA led me astray :') and honestly that dislike just carries on the more i read so idk whats going on

Teen Titans: Year One (2008)

MY JAW DROPPED. bro when batman straight up hit Dick i was BAFFLED. like i know he was mind controlled and what not but bro why is batman such an ass to dick??? like even after the mind control is gone like hes still just so?? like shut up and let this 13 year old have fun with his friends wtf. anyways i dont like him, sorry, but if im just reading the ooc comics then lmk but so far im 👎🏼 on batman

Teen Titans (1966)

I only read issues #1 to get the intro, and then #14 because i heard it was dick centered. I wish i liked the older comics more than i do but i'm not mad i read them. I do enjoy the titans storyline and characters though so i will definitely read more to do with them

The New Teen Titans (1980)

I dabbled but i cant tell you which issues i read- again i think i need to get used to reading comics as a whole and come back to the older ones :')

Nightwing: Year One (1996)

so i've almost finished this one! Its #101-106 and i'm on #105 rn. again I DON'T LIKE BATMAN. like he's such a man-child. he literally 'fired' and yelled at this 13 year old kid for helping his friends save people instead of being with him like okay bitch. but anyways i like this! its more good backstory plus him going back to the circus was a nice touch. also the nightwing origin!!! dick going to superman for advice :') I like it.

okay thats all i got so far, I'm excited to keep reading. I have definitely spent too much time worrying about backstory and reading orders ( ik i don't have to bc continuity is relative but my brain just wont let me go out of order) but i've gotten a reading list that i'm pretty comfortable with. Also pretty soon ill be reading more with the batfam (specifically batkids) and im excited for that!! (the batkids are most of the reason im here tbh...especially now bc batman is...not my favorite)

That anon has a pretty good point. Fandoms have been making the kinkiest, most transgressive and perverted shit for decades and will continue to do so. That’s just fandom. But it feels like Viv and the others want to be part of their own fandom.

Obv they’re allowed to enjoy and be proud of their own show, but there’s a reason you don’t see other show runners openly making and promoting fetishy content of their own property, unless that property is itself pornographic in nature.

Like, there’s nothing wrong with making erotica. But you gotta kind of own the fact that this is what you’re doing. Viv wants people to take her show(s) seriously and get invested in the themes and personal journeys of these characters. But she also wants to advertise these same characters as sex objects and sell sexy sexy merch of them. Idk, I just think selling sexy merch of a character you identified as a victim of s*xual abuse is a bad look.

Yeah, we can't blame fandom culture for doing that because it comes with the fandom territory, been done since forever and a fandom is full of individuals good and bad it is what it is. Viv definitely wants to be part of her own fandom, seeing how she interacts like a fan with her fans, liking and even making fanart of her own characters. Not saying thats all bad but believe there should be a level of separation from a professional standpoint because Viv's fandom is unsavoury for the most part. I look at Dana Terrace, she does the same as what I mentioned but still keeps her distance from her fandom for professional reasons, to not make a parasocial relationship with fans good or bad ones and also to prevent being lumped together with the... unsavoury side of her fandom, they're yuck. You're so right, Viv basically wants to have her cake and eat it too, have fetishising fanart/premoting it/having staff do the same but still want to have a show with sensitive themes, characters with trauma etc.

You cannot have both, its disingenuous and inappropriate and just plain wrong but she sees nothing wrong with it. Its profitable and fandom loves it and thus they also see nothing wrong with it and will shut down anyone who may be a victim speaking out how they feel about this or anyone else. Its ultimately a weird parasocial relationship Viv has with her fans that works well in her favor when it comes to backlash, accountability and criticism.

Also going back to Viv and staff making such fanart/merch or whatever that are fetishising in nature about their shows . Ive seen always in the past show runners or staff that did this faced serious backlash and ridicule. Happened with Rebecca Sugar (yes it was not of her show property but Viv has drawn "unsavoury" art of other shows and got no backlash she's still going strong) and thinking off the top of my head staff members of the rise the TMNT got caught drawing show styled p*rn. But so far nothing with Viv's show, yes its raunchy but not straight up sexual in nature plus the serious themes it contains.

Comes really down to the fandom at large calling it out and not agreeing with it. But Viv has cultivated the perfect hive mind fandom, nothing she does or says is wrong to them and thats unlike other fandoms. Taking the SU fandom who yes watched the show but were critical and didn't praise Rebecca like some god who can do no wrong (there is the other part of the SU fandom but talking about the SU fandom in general). Thats not what's happening with Viv so she's getting away with doing all this.

Also I say unsavoury but mean other egregious words.

They're blind if they don't see that about Sokka! Like. The other three kids would blatantly waste DAYS at a time, despite their very tight time limit, on whatever random bullshit captures their fancy. They literally planned vacations and even he got caught up in it but like......it's absolutely herding cats. You even see this problem in miniature, with Toph having to constantly hound Aang into earthhbending training. They're all flighty n distractible ish and avoidant in their own ways but Aang is very much the worst and yet also the most prioritised member who overrules Sokka regularly "for fun".

yeah I mean i was just so confused by that response bc it was such a bad faith misreading of what I had actually said, and also just a blatantly incorrect reading of the text??? I think a large swath of this fandom has a very surface level interpretation of the show (which is understandable, most people are not as invested in understanding the nuances of this show while still enjoying it, thats perfectly fine) while also just cherry picking the parts they like/latch onto and distorting the parts they found less compelling to suit whatever narrative they’ve crafted for themselves. which I suppose is their prerogative as audience members, but it’s frustrating to me as someone who thinks analytic work should always stem from understanding the text as holistically and completely as possible. normally I try to ignore such misinterpretations, since if I didn’t I would literally get no sleep, and yknow, I have a life. but i could see people’s tags in my activity feed turning this argument into a moral issue in which my very character was attacked (someone literally said “comradekatara and their followers are bs” which makes it sound like im running a cult or smth. yikes) and so I felt the need to clarify and defend myself in a way that I usually don’t when angry zutarapilled weirdos go on and on about how evil I am lmfao

anyway, to your point, sokka is absolutely herding cats. he is constantly trying to get them to be as economical with their time and stay as safe as possible, and they just straight up refuse to listen to him. I see people make arguments that sokka “wasted time on kyoshi island” by training with suki, but a) I don’t think receiving formal training for like the first time in his life is a waste of time and b) aang was clearly the one who insisted on staying there, sokka would’ve left whenever, but aang really liked it there, and considering this was right after he discovered that his entire people had been wiped out, it’s not exactly like sokka and katara can be like “no more fun for you!” the only other instances i can think of of sokka wasting their time is in “the ember island players” when he makes them all go spend two hours watching a play that they absolutely loathe. in fairness, I think sokka and suki should’ve realized that their friends (besides toph) would not enjoy such an event, but the episode would be way less effective if it had been just them watching it, so for metatextual reasons I’ll let it slide. (and fwiw, sokka’s training with piandao took two, three days at most, so it clearly wasn’t smth that interfered with the schedule.)

so yeah, my original point about sokka herding cats seems pretty obvious to me considering how many detours aang and katara constantly insist on taking (and arguably toph too, but she’s generally less resistant to sokka’s ideas). but then that person had to go and act like I said something I didn’t, and then add on a bunch of incorrect analysis to boot. truly, genuinely, weird behavior. the “momtara who does all the work and singlehandedly raised these children including sokka and has never once had fun in her life because she is struggling under the weight of being the most mature & reasonable fourteen year old girl who ever lived (and also that’s why this one spoiled prince who can’t even hammer a single nail would be such a good boyfriend for her because he loves doing dishes and is so emotionally intelligent & articulate)” koolaid is strong I guess.

Spoilers for TheInvisibleDavis's SCP Series

As someone who is about 3/4 through season one ish, its pretty good so far. With it being a minecraft rp, things are very aprofessional and the editor just doesnt give a flying fuck. Sometimes the bg music is way to loud, sometimes the plot is interrupted by someone needing to leave. They can take it out, but they just don't, and its incredibly frustrating. I don't love it, but like, its investing, the drama is solid, and scps are really cool.

Onto the characters themselves:

Davis- He's cold and bitter, seems to deny any sort of positivity, and is all around a bitch. He complains about pretty much anything, and I understand where he's coming from in his situation, but g o d it can get annoying. But he also has his reasons. His ability causing him to remember how he dies every time he comes back, there is an insane amount of horror this man has seen. Hes died from both scps and people over and over again. He's taken advantage of his ability and will try time and time again under the idea he can get what he wants in the end. He's become pretty messed up and depressed in this state. He's either used or waiting to be used and he will do anything to get out. A total badass, but like I get tired of him complianing. Like dude you have a bed. remember being D-class? Yeah fuckin' appreciate it before its gone and you're back at square one. You don't have to pretend to be happy, just value what you got.

And with his trust issues, he can never see the good in the people he's working with (Kat SHE DESERVES BETTER) and its both his and the foundation's fault for this. Kat had to treat him like an experiment. She had to treat d-class like that, but Davis didn't get that. He still doesn't because he REFUSES to believe any of the researchers no matter how much integrity they show. Kind of silly and annoying of him, but thats kinda how trauma works.

I also forgot to mention I really liked him early on. He was like this angry lil guy who was pissed in his circumstance. His ability was rediscovered after those anesthetics messed with his brain. The atmosphere was great. These solitary rooms as Davis sees just how large this place is in his attempts to break free. The endless staircase and the meat room were probably my favorite parts of pre-scp Davis. I liked the mystery of that a lot.

After that its just been moments where there isn't much horror to it, but the angst is really good sometimes.

Once he found out he was a father, that frustration I had with him has lessened, given that kid is the one thing that makes him happy in this personal hell of his. And he only got to see the kid once and since hes been transparent about that. The thing is the foundation doesn give a fuck, so Harkmann and Kat had to put in work just to get it to happen. Again, Davis just doesn't think they care. I think I just want him to be a better person... and like maybe his son will do that. That'd be very sweet.

I also find it funny that Davis's self insert is a jacked badass who cannot die.

Kat- I like her. I didn't have much to say about her for a good chunk of the series, but she's the embodiment of "trying her best :'(" Shes new to her job, she just wants to help people, and shes gone through some awful stuff. For one, shes had to live through some horrific events. Containment breaches, held at gunpoint, stalked to the point where she couldn't stay in her own home, and kidnapped by that Cain cult. She lies that her kindness is for the complicity of Davis. That's just... tragic. At least she has a good relationship with Dr. Harkmann.

SPEAKING OF:

Dr. Harkmann- He's complicated for me. On one hand he came off as pretty kind and thoughtful of his fellow researchers, but if you get on his bad side, he can be brutal. That's sounds cool, but it hurts from the fact Davis had to go through some more torture after he blackmailed the foundation and Kat's life. He got pretty protective of her and goes pretty easy on her compared to the other colleages. It's not out of sexism so I respect that greatly. But kinda like Davis he can be a bitch. He feel like he has to put on this mask to be a cold and collected scientest and see any SCP as an experiement, no matter the sentience. He was also kind of taught to be that way. Idk his story is cool, I'm just not a big fan of who he is.

Reggie- Not enough screentime or standout scenes to form an opinion. He developed a hatred for Davis after... something went wrong. 99% sure it was the gunpoint situation, but it could have also been the time he knew he was killed. The time where- idk he was pretty chill but I just kind of stopped caring about him after some time I was watching.

Uh anyways. Good series. Lotta bad pacing (imo) so I get bored easily. 3/4 of them need therapy. Kat just got to see a therapist from where I'm at.

And otso, almost forgot him. Ill talk about him when im more awake im stupid tired.

Question for you with all of your neutrality in regards to Lucy. If they do keep her around for next season do you think it’ll then be possible for them to develop her and Buck and essentially set them up as a couple next season?

I really don't think it's possible to develop her as a love interest for Buck - any possibility of that happening disappeared as soon as they made the decision to have them kiss in 5x11.

The writers room have made some very clear and deliberate choices with Lucy - they are intelligent people who know how television and television audiences work - they are fully aware that the introduction they gave Lucy wouldn’t go down well with the general audience or with fandom but they clearly did it for a reason.

For me (and this is purely speculation on my part) they chose this path because they wanted to set up an explosive end to Bucks relationship with Taylor and to make her exit from the show truly permanent - they’ve spent a long time this season establishing just how utterly depressing, unfulfilling and soul destroying that relationship is and how poorly they work as a couple - its not the kind of relationship that was going to go down with a whimper. Its going out with an explosion - because the explosion needs to come from Buck and in order to get to that you can’t just suddenly have him decide its not working - it would be out of character for him yes he needs to reach the conclusion on his own (and his own missteps long the way form part of that) but playing with the idea of both Buck and Taylor trying to force themselves into these roles that don’t fit you’ve got to figure out how to get them out of it in a way that is interesting and provides character growth for the main. which is why they chose to invest in a guest character and seem to change who she is - from a bitch who will climb over anyone who gets in the way of what she wants to such a damp squib you better believe that thats been done for a reason - that its going to turn back around. Lucy was needed to play her role in it (however much I feel they could’ve got there by other means!) and that extends beyond the actual kiss - they needed Lucy to misdirect Taylors jealousy - which its fair to assume we’re going to get as soon as she (finally) finds out who Buck kissed.

The misdirect is interesting and actually potentially quite funny because here we have Taylor who claims to be an investigative journalist for whom the truth is everything - so her not caring who it was Buck kissed doesn’t add up and it plays into the idea that she’s so focused on her job that she’s both uncaring and that she’s missed whats been right in front of her while focusing on the wrong thing (the audience falling in to the same trap - of assuming in hetronormative ways - its mystery writing 101!) and also provides opportunity for the writers to utilise her personality shift and take it back to who she was and actually is - making the audience pity her and then hate her again and making them happier when Buck finally decides to end it with her. (I had some other stuff about why Lucy needed to be part of this but tumblr decided to delete it and it 1am where I am and my brain can’t remember what I typed which is incredibly annoying)

While I can see them potentially keeping her in season 6 and developing her as a character and fully fledged member of the 118 (thats not to say thats what they're going to do) if they do it will be separate to a large extent from Bucks storyline - I think if she is around for S6 we'll see Buck being friends with her as a work colleague but beyond that I can see them wanting to use her to explore other aspects of firefighting - perhaps they might even be brave enough to explore the misogyny women experience as female firefighters when out on calls.

Buck is a fan favourite and with fan reaction to that kiss and everything we've seen play out in 5x13 and 14 the intention is crystal clear. In season 6 Buck and Eddie are headed towards a fully fledged romantic relationship - Buddie is happening and there is nothing or no one who can derail that train now (except an actor deciding to do something incredibly stupid and tank their career a la Rockmond!) the writers have quite literally climbed onto the roof and started yelling their intent at us (and I love them for it)

obviously this is very much my opinion and I have no knowledge of the shows intentions with Lucy - I'm purely speculating and telling you what I see as someone who spent time making tv and film happen (all be it in a costume capacity!) so understands some of the tricks of the trade! this go super long and rambly - idk if it even makes one iota of sense!

Adam vs Cinder was FUCKING AWESOME. The action was top tier but fucking when the burns reminded Adam of THAT moment had me OSNUXKWPZUXNWPW 😭

Okay I audibly gasped when Neo stabbed Cinder, you wrote the scene SO well and pretty nasty like this?

Cinder fell to her knees, shaking hands uselessly spitting flames that burned up to nothing. Her lifeblood poured from her chest. Her snarl melted from her face to be replaced with disbelief. She raised her head, watering eye failing to find the open sky beyond the Grimm and clouds.

UGHHHH. Along with the blood pouring on Ruby’s face?? It’s vivid (and gross) as fuck.

And I mean I kinda expected it after her convo with Adam, BUT I FUCKING SCREAMED WHEN RUBY GOT THE MAIDEN POWERS. HOLY SHIT??? I wasn’t expecting it AT ALL AND I THINK I LOVE IT

Ruby’s hero complex right now: 📈📈📈📈

A few parts I loved but didn’t scream about: Yang being a good sister is 😩. The art piece accompanying Ruby’s apology is god tier. Really good use of Jaune’s semblance (they can keep the blood and sweat and tears while still fighting 🥵 im sorry-). Adam and Blake’s team up at the end is so badass. like “It was kill or be killed. And that, they both knew well” YESSSSS

I have a plan for Adam and Neo (not a relationship plan) and all y'all are stuck watching me execute it 🫡

I will never not enjoy your apeshit reactions! It's hella gratifying to see those moments I thought would hit hard hitting hard - particularly that blink-and-you'll-miss-it line about Adam remembering the smell of burning flesh.

ok so its 2 am. i am tired, i am incoherent and i have a lot to say.

first of all, before the final 10ish minutes i was actually pretty ok with the ending! i was so happy to see that most of the stories were wrapped up really nicely and were headed for a good place. but as soon as ted boarded that airplane. oh god.

although i never really shipped tedbecca before season 3, to me it kinda of seemed like they were ending up together? and i wasn’t mad about it. i actually got pretty invested in it after the whole matchbox/soldier thing. and it really sucks that they build all that up for nothing! all the signs with the psychic (“oh but they could have been for the dutch guy” yes! why not just leave them for scenes with him then?), the multiple ted/rebecca fakeouts (the whole bantr thing and the beginning of the finale episode), the AIRPORT SCENE? SERIOUSLY? and the worst part about it is that by building all this up but not having them end up together, rebecca’s ending felt unfinished and rushed (we barely got to know the guy and even though is “meant to be” or whatever they interacted once. come on), and (for me personally) it seemed that the show implied ted going back to michelle, which makes no sense at all. there was no need for tedbecca to be endgame, but both of their characters deserved better.

the whole roy/keeley/jamie debacle. (i think i just get throuple baited by ted lasso) seriously, i’m ALL for keeley ending up alone since she’s been in relationships basically the whole show. but why make her go back to roy when he apologized????? if they made up, as friends, there wouldn’t be A SINGLE storyline that would have to be changed. they still could’ve gone after jamie. the fight between jamie and roy could still be a catalyst for her to realize that she doesn’t want to be with either of them for now. it was completely unnecessary for them to sleep together.

why. on. earth. would you, for three entire seasons, disapprove of a relationship, show us how toxic it is, and then have them marry each other. seriously. of all the couples, beard and jane ended up together? dude. come on.

ok. let’s ignore the whole beard and jane thing being toxic and just assume they’re good now and she’s improved (her shredding his passport so he couldn’t leave was barely a figment of my imagination). although i dislike ted and beard being apart, i do understand that people move on and even the closest of friends sometimes have to grow apart. but why couldn’t they show us ted at beard’s wedding? he clearly was ok with beard staying for jane. there was no bad blood and even with him going back to kansas, i really doubt he would miss his best friend’s wedding.

and finally, i hate that ted went back to kansas. i can’t really logic myself out of this one, like i did with my other complaints because the reason why he went is really simple: for his son. and it’s the right thing to do. must be really hard parenting from another country and i’m absolutely sure that henry missed him a lot. but michelle could’ve gone to london with him, specially after it being implied that dr. jacob was out of the picture. it just makes me really sad that ted had to go back while everyone else moved forward.

ok! now the positive points because im not a complete bitch.

love to see rupert get absolutely shitted on. the wanker scene? poetic cinema.

i’m really happy that rebecca didn’t sell the club and that she realized that, although it wasn’t what she imagined would happen at first, they were her family now. also loved the juxtaposition of her giving 49% of shares to the fans against edwin akufo’s idea of a super league or whatever the fuck

COLIN GOT TO KISS HIS FELLA. THATS ALL I WANTED I LITERALLY CRIED

the ted/nate scenes really moved me. even though nate’s arc was kinda rushed, i was still happy to see him thriving at the end and going back to being the sympathetic character he was at the beginning of the show. him saying i’m sorry, crying on ted’s shoulder, coming back as assistant kitman instead of coach, it all showed that he changed. i’m also really glad that richmond won with his false nine after all.

ted lasso finale thoughts

Need the richmond women's team spinoff NOW!!!!!!!!!!! And it better have LESBIANS i swear to god!!!!!!!

As always the strongest part of this ep was the team dynamics. Roy joining the diamond dogs. Isaac with the penalty kick!!!! The fucking dance sequence callback T^T theres no place like afc richmond <3 Them winning the match but losing the whole thing was a good balance of success vs realism. I didn't know enough about football to predict it beforehand LOL but that probably worked in my favor bc i genuinely didnt know whether they would win or lose. Rebecca and ted's friendship was heartwarming as always. I was living in fear that they'd become a couple even though i knew that wasn't what the writers were going for, so I probably need to rewatch to fully enjoy it.

Tedependent lost RIP. it would have made sense but at the same time im kinda glad they didn't, at least this season. trent was still very much a side character and i just don't think the story beats were there for tedtrent endgame. the story would have had to been constructed differently, or it would need another season. I also liked how the main focus was ted & rebecca's friendship rather than either of their romantic relationships. I love a good romance but its not what this story is about.

Thats part of the reason why the dutchman return felt cheap to me lol. Sorry rebecca im always rooting for you but i just wasn't feeling it. Another part of that is probably because Ted and Trent had a much stronger foundation and we still didn't get to see even their friendship develop as much as i would have liked. Maybe ive been spoiled by all the trent this season idk. but i was just hoping for a little more. After all, it's not lost on me that we only got one confirmed gay couple at the end (we don't even know anything about Michael!!! Ugh sorry Im a michael hater he's so boring.)

Speaking of boring, I simply do not care about ted's family. So him moving back was... not really compelling for me. like none of the kansas characters are fleshed out at all. i wish they had done something more interesting with them so i could actually get invested. There was something there with michelle dating their couples therapist, but it ended up falling flat imo. Also Michelle being a teacher is a total copout, I would have preferred if she had an unexpected job that revealed a new side to her. Give her a personality outside of being a wife/mother/caretaker please and thank you.

I did like how Royjamie was left openended!!! thats the ship i care most abt and i knew it wasnt going to *actually* happen so im satisfied with what we got. I am in the (im assuming) minority of royjamie enjoyers that is against roykeeleyjamie. This episode really hammered it in why roy and jamie are not good for keeley LOL, but the signs have been there all along. Keeley needs to be her own boss for a bit! Roy and jamie are just not at her maturity level (lovingly), and they've got some misogyny to work through.

(I need to think on it more, but I'm pretty sure that I liked the way this episode/season handled the Roy And Jamie Are Lowkey Sexist subplot. Like the whole fighting over a woman thing is soooo trite atp, and i still dont know how i feel about them physically fighting over her or whatever. but the story was realistic about how these asshole male footballers are going to have some weird views about women, while still shutting that down those views. like not even giving them the time of day. Keeley literally shoos them out without a word LMAO. So idk need to think about it more but at least keeley didnt end up with either of them).

Hey you know who DOES deserve each other.... and makes each other better people, as represented by their football training arc.... the student is the teacher and the teacher is the student etc etc…… Anyways royjamie is real TO ME!!! (And brett goldstein and phil dunster, number one royjamie warriors. phil dunster wrote royjamie smut I will never get over that)

Overall im sad to see ted lasso go. i think i need to sit with all 3 seasons a bit more before forming my full opinion, but s1 will always have my heart. Mostly because evil jamie and evil rebecca are so so fun to watch.

Thats fair. It's understandable considering I'm no longer invested in the ending since I dropped the show, but it's not entirely a product of not caring about the ending. There are other shows that I love like One Piece for example where I'm immensely invested but also I'm not really concerned with the ending. Though maybe thats because One Piece emphasizes Journey > Destination due to primarily being about Adventure. Regardless I always appreciate your perspective. Thank you. -EmperorLuffy

I'm more certain of Cinder not dying, and even more certain of her redemption than ever before. I was reviewing KM Weiland's Book "Creating Character Arcs" and Cinder's final scenes in Atlas are all indicative of the phase in a positive change arc where a character at first rejects the truth they need in order to change. It's the part where the character moves closer to the thing that they want but as a result move even further away from what they need. -EmperorLuffy

The case for her redemption becomes even more solid when you consider her backstory. Not necessarily what its about but rather the fact that she got one in the first place. If shes just going to be killed off, then why give her a backstory at all? Adam didnt get a backstory Neither did Hazel Watts or Ironwood No one who died got a backstory but Cinders story is apparently so important they can devote an entire Season to it? Doesnt sound like a character thats meant to be killed off -EmperorLuffy

Sorry if I'm typing too much but my point was that they are very clearly doing something with Cinder that they are not doing with any other antagonist besides Salem. Thus it's only reasonable to conclude that Cinder's character story holds some sort of significance, as there wouldn't be a need to tell her story otherwise. There'd be no point in fleshing out her story if there were ultimately no meaning behind it and she was just meant to die. -EmperorLuffy

Sad to hear you dropped the show. Unfortunately for everybody I am very much here to stay. (Also no, you're not typing too much, I think it's pretty obvious I don't mind length around here). (:

I've no reference point for One Piece, and it's really not the sort of anime that interests me, but I can respect your taste.

I think you’re misunderstanding my point about endings. Endings aren’t arbitrary, they affirm the intent of the text. The point of Cinder's redemption is that not only is it just interesting but it also affirms and lines up with themes in the show - it's not too late to turn back, life isn't senseless tragedy, there is meaning in pain and joy... and because I love and adore Rose Tico, I think, 'It's not about fighting what we hate, but saving what we love,' is something I spy in R/WBY in particular.

Whilst I do broadly agree with you about Cinder's redemption, I've already written a lot on this topic and similarly commented on the special attention paid to her. For how economic they are with their storytelling (and the fairytale/mythic intertextuality is one way of doing this), they dedicated quite a bit to her in V8 alone.

I also wrote more here on Cinder versus Adam. That post covers a lot of what I think are critical errors in comparing Cinder to Adam. Similarly, my first post about Hazel covers issues with death-by-redemption and what the purposes are of a character like Hazel, in relation to Cinder especially, though the post is from October last year. And yes, I'm pretty sure Cinder's redemption is set up for Salem's, that's why the literal Salem/Ozma analogue with Jaune and Cinder is so potent.

I would agree that the conflict of desires and needs are very apparent with her character and I've also written about this before, it's the conflict inherent to what she thinks she wants out of the Maiden power (power, and all of them) versus what it could actually give her (spiritual and emotional development, true freedom and responsibility). The fact she's tricking her own master (the way Oscar tricked Ozma in V6) at the end of V8 should be significant enough on this front alone.

Here is an early post about what direction I think Cinder's redemption is taking at the end of V8. It's a bit older as well, and I might articulate it better now, but I would still compare the point her character is at as the same position Ironwood was in recomitting to good. (I think I was a bit impassioned in that post because the idea that Cinder was just going to be evil again and it was some sort of 'subverted' redemption arc was something I had been seeing around since the end of the volume).

Also, I'm not sure how it's possible to read Cinder's redemption (and her living) without Knightfall, so it's interesting that you don't think Knightfall will be canon but maintain Cinder's redemption is likely. Personally I think it's a wombo combo. I can't find where I've talked about this before but I think the point with Cinder is you need someone to get through to her, and the 'power of friendship' is clearly insufficient.

Anyway, I think the best point is that her death means the Maiden powers will be in question. As I've said so before, this doesn't make sense unless the Maiden powers are done away with, but even in that case it doesn't mean she has to die. I also think all the current Maidens except Summer are endgame, as I've said a few times... so there's a clear thematic statement being made with the powers, especially in relation to redemption, and also for something else I twigged, but that's going in a new post - I forgot to make it the other night when I went to sleep. It's more of a deliberate articulation of the themes of legacy.

Poor old Cinder. Everybody speculates over her death, for good or ill. I want to see her hatch a magnificently evil plan and succeed only to find the victory spiritually hollow. Oh wait!

Different anon, reading your Delicious in FE asks had me and my partner wondering how you'd cook Mila because of her weird hair wings. So I guess: Mila and Duma? Can't have one without the other.

i have in fact answers for this.

mila

id imagine tastes a lot like mossy chewy veggies and vermicelli and tofu. she looks almost like what i would think of dryad if less leafy and woody, and is responsible for her people never going hungry ever again (tm). so mila probably touches the ground and an apple tree grows, touches a person wishing they have a pair of mega melons instantly have a pair of mega melons

but bc she technically isnt a dryad and more of a dragon, parts of her are going to taste like meat even though its veggies. which is. cool actually! that means its vegan time!! 🍽️🍽️

i actually have a cooler idea than lab grown meat though: mianjin! or seitan. mila is probably just full of this. dont even have to wash or pound her to get this labor intensive vegan food.

so these things are actually gluten, processed from wheat and the likes. their texture is super duper close to chicken, and are extremely good at soaking up whatever juices you throw at it. fry it, steam it, they can take it. monastic buddhist monks have been munching on these things since 6th century in china, and ive even eaten once prepped to look exactly like sashimi

its fucking play dough faux meat.

anyway! so with parts of her being mianjin, her hair part would probably be like long beans or even moss. theres one particular Black Moss that i ate a lot as a kid being served it, but apparently have been over harvested due to. dumb shit culture reasons. (eating it is believed to bring fortune and money. they kept feeding me that shit.)

so! my recommended milla prep method is vegetable stir fry, actually! make sure to grab all the veggies like carrots and brocolli and mushrooms and plenty of oyster sauce, mirin, vinegar, and ginger and go to fucking town mixing her in. :3

Duma

id imagine duma would be some creature thats really hardy and built to survive in places with lots of prairie and plains. but hes ripped as hell, strong as a tank and has the mentally of strongest means bestest

so. maybe hes like. a bison. the king of bisons. the biggest beefiest gym bro who somehow converts his gains from fats and protein non-existent.

i know the duma we know in fe:echoes is a dippy sad mess but imagine if that was bc he lost his way in the mountains without cell reception bc he made a bad investment, lost his house, drank too much, got into a couple of fights with cars and trains, lost, and mila took off with his $60,000 car he paid off by running some crypto grift and got mega cancelled for it

regular duma is a bona fide bison. the duma we saw is not.

step 1: get his ass. step 2: shred his ass into thin slices. step 3: dry his thin ass and then grab a bunch of berries and then recook his ass in his own fat. BAP BAPABAPABABBABABABP done.

with regards to regular duma, the only way to pay proper respects and follow his path imo is to become one with him so thoroughly even nature shakes upon our footstep as we train in the wild. see what he saw. fend of cars with our bare hands and pecs. eating him. slowly. bit by bit....

because duma has become... the ultimate survival food.

This morning I cleaned the center area of my desk and wiped everything down. I also cleaned the top of the microwave and hotplate real good. For breakfast I made a grilled cheese out of the loaf's end pieces and some bean soup. Already I had not planned for today to have a normal schedule. I worked on AE's avatar for about 45 minutes in call with one of BR's friends. Then I went down to the store for some water, coke, and drinks for the weekend. I briefly met the mechanic that works in the shop next door to the store and I was trying to make conversation with the cashier and my mom. The cashier is a girl about a year younger than me and mom told me she plays DnD in Seeley every Saturday and that she lives down here. I don't know about anyone else around my age in the area so that was interesting to find out. When I got back home I worked on the avatar for another hour before lunch. I got most of it done and am going to try to finish tomorrow. I also saw that BD was in VR so I hopped in to chat with her in desktop and we had a nice little conversation.

Lunch was stir fry using these green beans and red potatoes in garlic sauce. It was good but too much food, I was stuffed and had snacked on salt and vinegar chips an hour before. I also got a headache for some reason and blew off my work for the rest of the day. I spent my afternoon watching someone stream challenged in various Mario games while I let my body settle. At some point I took a desk nap with my eye resting on my wrist. Then I played some Stardew on the side and waited for TK to be free since we planned to hang out. When she was about to get in VR, I got on and found a very pleasant jigsaw puzzle world that lets you use custom images. BD also joined us and her guy friend and we did the puzzle in about 40 minutes. TK was talking about her trip to see her family the past week and then her friends joined. BD left to join others so I chatted with TK for a little before joining those other friends. Those people were interesting, it was a few furries chilling in a hot tub and it was a decent time. They were pretty welcoming and liked what I did to achieve my otter model. I felt very out of place though because everyone was part of a couple besides me, I was the only one sitting alone. I don't think it's something I would have cared about if it wasn't so visually obvious and downright comedic. GT joined and left pretty quick, he was high. I got off to eat dinner and get ready for bed.

Today was about presence so I tried to catch myself when I was either thinking about the past or predicting the future. My go to method to disengage was to intently focus on whatever sounds I was currently hearing and that worked pretty well.

I was thinking about love again today and how like my friend, I also tend to question if I'm worthy of being loved or if I'll ever find what I'm looking for. It's easy to think the outlook isn't good. I've been close to dating but never really "dated" and I'm 27 years old. It feels downright pathetic sometimes. I feel like I've lagged behind and simply cannot fit with anyone anymore unless they've also lagged behind which must be extremely rare. I'm very tempted to push all these feelings down and resign myself to being single for the rest of my life again. But thats not what I want, I'd be miserable if I did that. Thats part of why I've BEEN miserable, denying how much I want to love and be loved. Another thing I've noticed is how no one has ever seemed to be as dedicated and obsessed with me as I have been with anyone. I dream about how good it'll feel someday for someone to be crazy about me for once. But then I think, what is there to be crazy about? At least right now, I'm a shell of a person. I can't blame anyone for not wanting to invest in that.

[ WRITING QUESTIONS ]

1. What themes would you like to write about that you feel don’t get explored very often?

hmm. i really like writing about the little ways huge things can affect people, i guess?

i write about grief a Lot (like. more than i thought) and i know other people do too, but. i guess it's never really hit the same way that i always see it written? the obvious Big Sad is there, which is the most notable part, but i particularly like writing about the way it changes people, in ways that are both subtle and not. in heartache of july, which basically centers around sara's grief for joe, my favorite parts of it to write were definitely just. the habits she's formed. the way she can't do certain things anymore. she always leaves a note for ryoko if she leaves in the morning. she no longer uses her phone unless its an emergency. she hates quiet moments because all she remembers is quiet moments with joe and laughing doesn't feel the same, not even with ryoko, because there's somebody still missing. and it's so. it drives me insane and i looove putting it into words.

(additionally, on the other side of the scale: i just really like writing details of how characters rub off on each other you know. in warm, like a fire, ranmaru picks up all his teasing from sara & joe, who are constantly teasing one another, even prior to being close with the two... & while i don't discuss it in writing as much, the sonobenos have all exchanged stims from each other agehehe. sara occasionally calls joe buttercup to mess with him, esp because once ryoko called him that before they were close, and he was. insane about it.)

this bit got lengthy but <3 i'm normal about people. trust me

8. Favorite dialogue in your wip?

not between any important characters, but in chapter two of blood on whose hands? (which should be out soon!), joe overhears his classmates poorly whispering about what's going on with him & ryoko + sara. and it's honestly a little funny, if you ignore like. everything wrong here:

“Obviously, there has to be like– some kind of disagreement? Like, it doesn’t make sense for them to be so awkward around each other for no reason. They’ve been like, super close ever since they stepped foot in this building. I think Chidouin and Tazuna are way closer than Hirose is with either of them.” “What? No way. Didn’t Tazuna and Hirose go on a date?” “Yeah. With Chidouin’s help. Maybe it went wrong and now her and Tazuna are mad at each other?” “That doesn’t make sense. If it went wrong, wouldn’t he and Hirose be upset at each other instead? And it doesn’t explain why Chidouin’s attendance just suddenly fell off the chart. Like, I don’t really pay much attention to Tazuna’s, but she has this whole streak to keep up, you know? I’ve seen her come to school with a face mask on instead of taking a sick day.” “Huh. Good point.” His classmate slinks back into her seat. “Then damn, I’m stumped.” “Maybe because it’s none of your business? Not that I’m not intrigued, but you’re way too invested.”

15. What physical quirks do your characters tend to have?

stares. nail biting lip biting CHEEK BITING FOR SURE humming before answering somebody pacing Anndd snapping fingers . and thats all stuff i do eep

27. Do you have playlists for your wip? What are some of the songs in it?

YESS I DO !!! i only have one for blood on whose hands (which i'll put here), because typically i just make playlists for characters & listen to those when i write from their pov - and usually i don't use music anyway because i'm always writing super late and i don't want to go through the hassle of getting headphones anyway.
