Friday approached quickly, and the anticipation and excitement of the game had reached further than just the football pitch. Every corner of the school was decorated and filled with cheering, almost every student had been consumed by school spirit. Your brother’s name echoed through the hallways, a testament to the weight resting on his shoulders.
Unlike the rest of the team, Steve’s ambitions extended beyond high school glory. This wasn’t just a game to him, it was the starting point for a brighter future. He had the means to defy the expectations set by the privileged upbringing you had. He knew one way or the other, he’d get into college. However, from a young age, he wanted to carve his legacy, independent from his family’s influence.
Tonight’s game wasn’t about winning or losing, it was about proving to himself that he is more than his privilege and family name.
Outside, you navigated the bustling parking lot, the scent of freshly cut grass and the roaring cheering eloped your senses. Despite knowing that Bucky and his friends wouldn’t bother attending, their disdain was well-known for school events, you couldn’t shake the hope of catching a glimpse of his signature leather amidst the crowd.
You were about to dismiss your wishful thinking when you finally spotted it, a solitary leather jacket leaning against the chained fence toward the back of the parking lot. You bubbled with excitement, reaching the same level of hype as others around you. It was out of character for you on game nights. The urge to make your way over to him or offer a wave washed away at the realization that your parents were beside you.
The thought of their questions, probing for answers you didn’t know yourself, brought you back down from the clouds. Which ironically, weren’t anywhere to be seen in the sky tonight.
As you made your way toward the football field, you couldn’t help but wonder what could have awaited you beyond the watchful eyes and protective figures in your life.
~
At halftime, the scores were tied. The crowd buzzed with excitement around you, yet, you couldn’t help the feeling that this wasn’t where you were meant to be. An impulse came over you as you looked down towards the exit and then back at your friends sitting behind you.
“I’ll be right back, cover for me, please,” you pleaded to them, not taking a moment to explain. They both nodded, already knowing what you were planning. Slipping through the crowd down to the exit, you took a deep breath before stepping out.
And there, just as you had expected, Bucky stood at the edge of the parking lot, leaning against his motorbike, cigarette dangling between his fingers. His eye lit up when he spotted you walking toward him, a smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
“Fancy seeing you here, Sunshine.” You couldn’t help but smile back at him, the tension of the game, and family expectations faded away in seconds. He took the helmet hanging from the handlebar and handed it to you. Accepting the helmet, you fastened it securely under your chin.
“I need to be back before the game finishes,” you reminded him urgently. With a reassuring smile, he extended a hand to help you onto the back of the bike. You settled into position, wrapping your arms around his torso and resting your protected head against his back. The engine roared to life beneath you, you felt lighter the second he took off.
~
When the engine of the bike stopped, you realized that Bucky had brought you to The Overlook. Perched on top of a rugged cliffside, it offered a view of the whole town. It was illuminated by the glow of streetlights. Moments like this made you thankful that your hometown mostly got clear nights and not too much light pollution to stop the flicker of stars.
Standing side by side, the cool air swirled around you as you silently appreciated the view.
“Why do you call me ‘Sunshine’?” you asked breaking the silence, curiosity lacing your voice as you gazed up at Bucky, he was the only person to call you by the endearing nickname. You had been wondering since that first time, why?
A faint smile played on his lips as he considered how to answer your questions. “You remind me of that song” he explained before clearing his throat and began singing softly but slightly out of key. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,” As the familiar lyrics filled the quiet small-town air, he pulled you closer by the waist into a slow dance that seemed to stop time and space itself. “You make me happy when skies are gray.” he continued, you melted into his embrace, swaying as the world faded behind you.
As the song came to an end, your head rested on his chest and his chin came down to rest on top of your head. You lingered in each other’s arms for a moment longer. Neither of you wanted to be the first to pull away. It was the most intimate moment of your life. It gave you a glimmer of hope.
For a second, you lifted your head meeting his gaze. A silent question lingered in his eyes as they moved from yours to your lips and back. With a soft nod, you gave him permission to close the gap between you, close the distance, and be the closest you have ever been to anyone.
Gently, he cupped your cheek, his fingers trailed over your skin as he leaned down and into you. Time stood still as his lips hovered over yours, you could only hear both your hearts beating.
In a moment, his lips met yours. A symphony of emotions crashed over you. It was filled with longing and desire as if you both had waited your entire lives for this moment. His grip on your waist tightened as the hand on your cheek moved into your hair, pulling you closer to him before you both came up for air. You both gazed into the other's eyes as you caught your breath.
“I don’t want to take you back,” he sighed.
~
You spotted your family and friends in the sea of supporters located on the bleachers as you made your way back to your seat. You waved at them as you approached. Thankfully, your dad was too invested in the game to notice your presence. Your mom, on the other hand, gave you a look you had never seen before from her. It was a mixture of confusion and understanding.
During a crucial moment in the fourth quarter, your school was up by a single point. Everything seemed to have gone well until movement caught your eye at the edge of the field. Bucky. Oh no.
His gaze locked onto yours, your breath hitched as you wondered why he would choose now to come inside. You blinked breaking your gaze, looking out at the field you noticed Steve’s concentration had wavered. His eyes were locked on Bucky. It was as if his presence alone had the strength to throw Steve off his game.
You watched in dismay as the other school, dressed in black and red with an octopus school mascot, seized the opportunity that gained them ground and threatened to score. Refocusing, Steve turned his attention back to the game. It was too late, the damage had been done. They were losing time and now points. The last few minutes of the game ticked, and the tension on the field and the bleachers grew.
With seconds on the clock, Steve led the team, desperately pushing to regain control of the game. The crowd fell quiet. “Come on, Stevie,” you whispered under your breath.
The final whistle blew, and the crowd erupted into cheers and applause. They did it, The Brooklyn Knights had done it. They won. Players rushed onto the field, cheering and celebrating with each other. You watched as Steve broke away from the celebration running the opposite way, in Bucky’s direction.
You rushed down to the edge of the field, following the direction of your brother. Your heart was pounding in your chest, and dread crept with every step you took. As you turned into the hallway they had reached, you saw Steve striding purposefully towards the waiting smirk of Bucky Barnes.
Without a word, Steve’s fist swung up with force striking a blow to Bucky’s cheek. He stumbled back slightly but his smirk remained in place. “I warned you,” Steve spat, his voice filled with rage.
“That all you got, Rogers?” Bucky taunted your brother, tone laced with arrogance. Another blow, except this time to his stomach.
“Stop!” your voice cutting through the tension as you thrust yourself between the two. Ignoring the way your heart was pounding, you stood staring up at your brother. “Please,” your voice was barely a whisper as you pleaded.
“Home. Now,” All three of your heads snapped toward the voice. Your dad. He’d been close behind you after you ignored his calls previously. Behind him stood your mom, Wanda, and Peter. He marched over pushing Steve away from you and Bucky slightly. You watched in disbelief as they walked toward the parking lot. You turned to look over Bucky’s injuries, “Now!” your dad's demand echoed through the hallway. You whispered apologies to Bucky as you began to follow your family.
Your eyes locked with Wanda’s, gesturing toward Bucky, you silently asked her to ensure he was okay. Her eyes filled with empathy as she nodded, making a promise to you.
~
“He’s using you!” Steve’s voice echoed up the stairs, yelling as he followed you into your bedroom. Desperate to escape the confrontation, you tried to slam your door shut, but his hand shot out stopping it.
“No, he isn’t.” you protested, your voice began to tremble as you fought back tears. The worst scenario playing out in your mind. The biggest question that you feared the answer to. Was Bucky using you?
“He’s playing you, Y/N! You don’t know him like I do, you don’t know his so-called friends,” His words felt like they were cutting into you like tiny paper cuts. His voice filled with bitterness and frustration. His eyes were boring into you, he needed you to understand.
“I don’t want to hear it!” you raised your voice back at him, attempting to drown out his accusations.
He was relentless, filled with anger and sorrow as he continued to unveil the true reasons why he worried about you being around Bucky, why he didn’t trust him. “They pick a victim, like you, and they place bets on how far they can push you, how long it takes, where it happens. They lure you in and make you feel safe and special. Then, they take advantage of you,” he took a pause, catching his breath before continuing with a sigh. “And after, they just discard you like you never mattered.”
“Steven!” Your dad’s voice boomed from the doorway, Steve’s body had been shielding you away from the fury in his eyes as he listened to his son recount this sort of behavior. Particularly, in the context of his daughter’s vulnerability. “I think that’s enough.”
The ground felt like it was crumbling around you. Any moment now it would have swallowed you whole. Was it true?

My biggest hope for the Mighty Nein animated series is that they capture the tone correctly and don't use the same tone for TMN that they used for TLOVM.
I thought the tone in TLOVM was great for Vox Machina, it was littered with Scanlan style adult humor that suited the adult-style comedy/drama very well but I dont think that exact same tone would work well for the Mighty Nein.
Even though TMN had dirty humor, I think it's style of humor was different than TLOVM. Sex scene cut-aways and projectile vomiting, over the top gore and poop humor throwaway gags I don't think would hit the way for TMN as it does in TLOVM even though it exists in TMN.
I think that in the way that TLOVM is framed around Scanlan style humor, I think TMN is framed around Jester humor- which is still dirty, but sillier and a bit more naive and familiar that fits the mature tone of TMN much better than the throwaway humor of TLOVM.
And i'm sure TMN will be gore-y too but sometimes the gore in TLOVM was over the top in a way that detracted from some of the major villain deaths and made them less impactful when compared to some disposable npc whose skull gets exploded in a few scenes prior. What I mean is that I hope it's gore-y where it counts. Like Caleb crushing the guards while storming the sanitarium in rage and vengeance is not as impactful if everyone dies in a similar fashion all the time, if you know what I mean?

In honour of Merlin trending for literally no reason today, I would like to share my theories that I came up with during my recent rewatch. (I'm only up to season 3 right now so there really aren't that many theories yet.)
1. Merlin and Arthur 100% fell in love with each other in season 1, but they aren't aware of it at all.
2. Merlin is so gay. I'm not sure if he knows it or not, but Merlin is not attracted to women. Every time he's seemed interested in a woman, it's because she's been a powerful sorceress or a magical creature. Speaking of Freya; his only real female love interest, what he loves about her is that he sees himself in her. He feels a sense of kinship towards her as someone who is trapped and hunted for something out of her control. I don't think he feels any actual romantic love for her. He loves her, sure. But I think he's confusing romantic love for something else. (But idk I could be wrong.)
3. I don't think the Morgana we got back after her disappearance is the same Morgana we had pre S2E12. I think she probably died and came back wrong. Because otherwise the personality difference is too drastic. Her relationship with Gwen for instance. It makes sense if she didn't forgive Merlin for what he did, but why is she so mean to Gwen?? Gwen was her best friend and maybe even her first love? Morgana was never classist before season 3, but afterwards she acts like Gwen is lesser than and it just doesn't make sense. Anyway that's my in-universe explanation for her terrible shift in character.
4. This is the most important one. Merlin doesn't realize he's in love with Arthur until some time shortly before the season 2 finale. Before the finale, Merlin is happy to cheer on the romance between Arthur and Gwen. Two of his best friends fell in love! Why wouldn't he be happy? Even if they think there's no future for their relationship, he's more than happy to help them get together because Merlin believes in loving who you want to love.
Now, I could go on about how falling in love with Gwen is basically Arthur's way of expressing his repressed feelings for Merlin since Gwen and Merlin are of the same social standing and since Gwen is a woman he can experience the love he could have had with Merlin if it was allowed, but I won't do that. This ain't about him. What's important is that Merlin, in the season 2 finale- knows he's in love with Arthur, and that Arthur can't love him back. After the finale, he's still happy to help his friends in their affections for each other, but his bright goofy smile is gone. It's replaced with this melancholy smile and a hesitant voice.
I'm so serious right now. If you don't believe me, just go rewatch seasons 2 and 3 and see the shift in his demeanor yourself. He actively avoids them when they're interacting in season 3. In- I think it was the changeling episode, at the end, Arthur and Merlin walk into a hallway at the bottom of the staircase. They both see Gwen on the staircase, and when Arthur starts up the stairs, Merlin immediately leaves. It's not a "I'll give them their space" moment. It's a "I can't be here right now" kind of moment. He doesn't even try to stick around to protect Arthur on their date in the episode where Morgana frames Gwen for witchcraft. (and don't even get me started on that episode of my god.) Normally, he would stick around in the shadows to make sure nothing goes wrong and they aren't attacked or anything. It's weird that he doesn't try to stick around!
And oh my God. There are so many moments where Colin Morgan's acting just makes my heart ache. In the crystal caves, Merlin trying to banter with an unconscious Arthur while trying desperately to heal him makes me want to cry. And any time he's encouraging Gwen to follow her heart and be with Arthur just makes me ache. In the "...you still have feelings for him." And the "you like him. He likes you. Isn't that all that really matters?" I just can't.
Honestly, I could go on, but this post is already wordy enough. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

It's always really difficult to choose between An Opera of Fear and A Cold Alliance for my favourite Sly 3 episode, but it's safe to say that Flight of Fancy is easily the most nostalgic. Not because it's rooted in my childhood memories (it is) but in the sense that it shares elements with episodes from Sly 2 during a game which presents the gang at the peak of their career. Let's discuss
Tumblr media
I think we can all agree that the series very effectively presents the gang's development, not only as individual characters, but also as a team of thieves. Sly 1 shows the gang as teens during their first set of adventures which sprout from Sly's desire for vengeance. They make many mistakes, they don't really have planned heists or jobs - Sly just casually goes into every level breaking shit and then faces off the big baddie - and they surpass their own expectations of themselves to defeat Clockwerk in the end. Then, Sly 2 covers a crucial point in the gang's career. It felt as if up until this point they hadn't truly fucked up so they went into it being very cocky, especially Sly. And when they got their asses handed to them by Neyla, getting separated tested their individual and collective limits.
In Sly 3, the gang has evolved to master thieves, capable enough to feel comfortable recruiting and as such mentoring strangers and also worthy enough to inherit an entire lineage's stolen loot. This is also shown in the missions, which up in scale and spectacle. It's no longer just "follow this villain" or "pickpocket this person". It's a combination of missions we grew accustomed to during Sly 2 like "follow Octavio and do recon under time pressure", or something completely new. Right off the bat, for example, we send a ferris wheel rolling across Venice squashing guards in its way, like this is just a mission not Thunderbeak or something. Every Sly 3 mission evolves explosions, high-tech and the eventual mini boss-fight.
So it's then a bit surprising to see the gang reverting to their sneakier, more subtle ways during Flight of Fancy. That's not to say we don't have explosions and thrill in the episode (the dogfights, Muggshot vs Carmelita, wolf-riding, shooting literal fucking windmills into blimps), but the way they choose to sabotage the competition due to how delicate its internal politics are creates some nostalgia. Paddling around the sewers in a blow-up rowboat and breaking into the pilots' rooms is very Sly 2. It felt like something 18 year old Sly would do. Also, scaling the Baron's castle harks back to Sly 1's platforming and is reminiscent of how small Sly would seem when approaching a villain's daunting lair.
The design choices for the Netherlands seem primitive too, enhanced by the fact that we're in the countryside. I feel like there's that Sly 1 and 2 rule of thumb at play here, where Sucker Punch chose the aesthetic or genre first and then chose the location. For example, they wanted a spooky level in Sly 2 so they chose Prague which would accommodate the genre through its architecture and gothic character. That allowed them to exaggerate a lot in terms of level design. And it's the same for Flight of Fancy, where we have a spooky castle on top of a very cartoony hill and you can hide under haystacks. Oppositely, the rest of the game's levels seem to have departed from the previous entries' design principle (except Kaine Island, which is fully fictional). It feels as if SP chose Venice and wanted to play up how European it is, or the wilderness of the Australian outback but without any radical stylistic choices. The genres are explored through the narrative, not through design.
Tumblr media
Lastly, let's close off with some Thieves in Time slander because it wouldn't be a signature me tumblr essay without it. If we really use the entirety of our brain power and manage to look past all of the game's bullshit, one additional flaw would be how it doesn't consider the gang's development when telling its story. I'm not saying that in the series' fourth game the gang should have been infallible or indestructible due to achieving master thief status in Sly 3, but here the mistakes they make feel so unnecessarily stupid and like shit they wouldn't have done even in Sly 1. Falling for Penelope's schtick twice; Sly letting his guard down during the Le Paradox boss fight after the Contessa; whatever the fuck went down in Arabia... yea.

Limbus Heathcliff definitely is meant to have shades of Hareton in him. Between how often he is considered crude and stupid (the OG Heathcliff was more of an evil genius lol) and his character being about breaking the endless cycle of abuse that plagued him through the multiverse this Heathcliff is clearly more Hareton-like. Bonus points for the ways he compares and contrasts Hindley.
I don’t think being more Hareton-like makes him any less “authentically” Heathcliff, because Hareton was essentially Heathcliff 2, with the next generation of kids being a redux/repeating/breaking of the cycle that started in Part 1. Given that Erlking is clearly meant to embody Book!Heathcliff more it makes sense that “our” Heathcliff is more Hareton.
He is definitely more heroic than his book self but still feels faithful to the book.

OKAY CAUSE LISTEN. (till character analysis let’s go) (apologies in advance this is LONGG)
if till is actually in love with mizi then there is literally no outcome in which him and ivan are happy.
because 1) he’ll never love ivan as long as mizi is alive, and 2) even if he thinks mizi is dead, ivan will only ever be a rebound, the second choice he turned to when mizi wasn’t an option.
however, i would like for you to consider that maybe, instead, the problem is that till doesn’t know how to properly process or identify his feelings. i would like to propose that maybe he misinterpreted his feelings for mizi as love when in actuality he views her as some unattainable idol to covet but not actually connect with (like parasocial relationships).
meanwhile, ivan was always there for him and slowly became a support system till didn’t even know he had. because even if he didnt feel LOVE for ivan, they definitely had a REAL relationship—arguably more real than anything he ever had with mizi. all of their interactions are just like. much more RAW than anything till ever had with mizi if that makes sense. because all we’ve ever seen him doing with her is admiring from afar and sacrificing things for her in secret that she never asked for, nor wanted from him. while with ivan they actually hung out with absolutely no expectations of anything between them (on till’s side at least. it wasn’t a performative relationship to be this self sacrificing person for ivan like it would’ve been if he were talking to mizi. which is ironically a much more healthy basis for a relationship. to fully see the person as being equal to you without putting them on a pedestal)
i think till’s way of coping with everything was finding someone else outside himself to live for and idolize. his entire life was built around mizi, every choice he made committed with her in mind (like when he chose to stay in the garden rather than escaping for her sake). and once she’s ripped away, he’s left feeling empty and aimless—the center of his very world is no longer there.
HOWEVER.
this is shaken by ivan’s death. even though mizi was always his center, he can’t exactly not be affected by someone who’s been at his side for YEARS. and, unlike with mizi, their bond was definitely real and very much tangible for BOTH sides (despite meaning different things for each of them). but when ivan died FOR him, till felt something that was very real and very confusing which was very much a mixture of raw emotions he wasn't prepared to face feeling from anyone apart from mizi. because while mizi is his ideal, i think his feelings about her were always accompanied by a sense of disconnect because they didnt have any actual basis for this bond beyond till simply yearning for her. but with ivan. they were friends. they trusted each other by this point, and ivan has shown that he cares for till REPEATEDLY throughout them knowing each other. and.
i think till subconsciously acknowledged that ivan was important to him, even if just as a background support in his life. someone he hung out with without thinking about it too much. and i think that sense of care came very gradually too. because ivan is a weird mf but he still managed to worm his way into till’s world, and now he’s a staple there, even if till himself isn’t aware of that.
mainly just my vibe here is that his feelings surrounding ivan are very messy and complicated (as real life emotions tend to be) and that wasn’t what till was looking for when he was younger. he needed something stable, something he could look at and idolize from afar. something he could dedicate his messed up life to without having to worry about other complicated feelings. and that was what mizi was to him. a purpose to live that was unchanging because no matter what till himself did or what happened to him, it didn’t affect HER. and that was comforting. but ivan existed outside of his little ideal. and he was a real person who (unfortunately :/ ) made till feel real things that were outside of his control. which wasnt what he needed when he was younger—he needed stability. but i think in the end he had the most chance of an actual developed, healthy, and consistent relationship with ivan.
that is, if bro wasnt dead 🙏🙏🕊🕊

So my thoughts about the episode since the rewatch are;
I will use the spoiler tag below but still beware.
1. Tantiss in the morning looks beautiful. Damn I hate what they are doing in that base but it is still beautiful.
2. Omega. She seems calm and most importantly determined. She is sharing that trait with Hunter this episode which I love so much 😭❤️
3. Crosshair toothpick sighted! Not me fangirling when everything is so serious. Anytime to appreciate his beauty 😍
4. ECHO!! I am still so happy about him returning. My man literally came out like a boss with a stolen shuttle and started abusing Rampart 🤭 Crosshair shoving Rampart. Beat him up Cross while we are at it. Just saying 🤷‍♀️
5. I hate Rampart so much but the voice actor is so hot. Does that make sense? How can one be attracted to a voice? 💀 I need help-
6. Rampart: I hate clones. Mf they don't like your unwashed ass either. The comedic timing is spectacular though. I hate to admit it but he is making me laugh 😀
7. Wait did Emerie do that purposefully? Like I mean did she let Omega take that needle on purpose. She looked back and she is allowing Omega more freedom. We will see.
One point though. You would think the security would be more secure there but no 👀 a simple needle could be your way out 🤷‍♀️
9. I know the symbolism behind their armour losing the colour but the black armour is so hot especially on Crosshair 🫣 Respectfully staring sir..
10. So many close ups on Echo's fingers this episode 😏😏 yo why am I thirsting so hard today lmfaooo 💀
11. Arc trooper echo coming through y'all. That was so fast, precise and most importantly awesome.
12. Crosshair and Hunter both believing in Echo 😭🤞🥺
13. "NEGATIVE!" AHHHHHHHHH- WTF Hunter that was so hot. Is that my favourite hunter line?! The suspense and the delivery. 😍🤭🤭🤭
( I forgot to mention Hunter talking about freeing the clone prisoners too along with Omega is a major leap for his character and I am proud)
Ohh that was probably my favourite episode of season 3 so far. The stakes are finally so high that it feels like a finale. A whole ass Commando is on the ship with Echo y'all 😀😀☝️ I am so scared 😨
Yeah I have never been more excited for a next episode 🫣 10/10

I see Laena casting discourse again. They really did age her up unnecessarily, and I do think it was to communicate how bad the whole picking child bride thing is while making her a suitable (young) match for Daemon. I genuinely remember the sheer disbelief that she was teen Laena.
Tumblr media
Milly and Emily are Rhaenyra and Alicent from ages 14 to 20, respectively, somewhere in that timeline they become Emma and Olivia's versions of the characters. Nova is Laena from 12 to about 15, and then from 16 to 20-ish, she's played by Savannah, who then passes over to Nanna until 26, Laena is at best 26 when she dies. It's a less similar time frame for Laenor who , as much as I love young Laenor, should've been played by the same (teen) actor as he and Rhaenyra are the same age.
Tumblr media
Back to Laena, I think they should've just casted younger and kept 1 Laena for youth and one Laena for adulthood like the other girls. Yes, she's younger but not young enough to need that much of a difference between episodes 1 and 5. I'm not promoting the sick comedy of Daemon and Youngest Laena, but that's the general point. You can't want to show the world we're in with Viserys and Rhaenys and then falter when it's Daemon's turn. Those actresses do not have a 4 year age gap. Even casting an older actress in both parts but changing their styling would make sense.
I'm not upset because I adore every Laena actor. They looked and found the prettiest actors they could, and they DIDN'T DISAPPOINT, but it was biased storytelling.
I think this was a case where hiring a young actress and allowing costumes and acting to tell a story would've worked beautifully.
Another way it would've worked was seeing as production and filming takes so long, hiring a young actress and filming baby laena at the start and teen Laena at the end of filming.
Are there no black 14/15/16 year old actors to hire?
I also don't like the fact that they cast Laena with much older actors when they are done with that initial point.
Nova is 14 now, and Savannah is 28. Nanna is 37.
They were 10/11, 25/26, and 34/35, respectively, while filming.
Respectfully that's insane.
They are playing 12, 16, and 26.
It's a clear oversight and is weird because yet again, they didn't consider the implication of a 16 year old black girl going after a 30+ year old prince. Or the idea of going from casting Laena with an actress younger than her age to two actresses a decade apart from her canon age.
Anyways: Casting 101
When 2 actors represent the spectrum of ages, your character is at (10 to 26), maybe cast between them for a teen version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't like the inconsistent casting. I genuinely think the only reason I don't hate it more is because of the fact that the inconsistent costumes piss me off more.
No hate to the actresses again. This is about character continuity and not at all a reflection of their performances. They are our Laena's and the reasons we wish we got more of the character.

These are from published (and one unpublished) ffxiv fics. Because a lot of my favourite Aureia lines happen within the context of banter, I had a hard time deciding what to cut and where.
— 1: Far From Happenstance [ARR]
“What’s that thing on your arm?” “This? Ah… well… Perhaps this conversation is best saved for later, perhaps in a less conspicuous place?” “Or we could have it now. Your choice.”
— 2: Uncertainty [ARR]
“Tailing unsuspecting women about the city is nothing to be proud of.” “I have done nothing of the sort! Our meetings have been no more than happenstance, a quirk of nature drawing us to the same spot at the same time. I assure you, Aureia, I am not following you—” She stifles a snort, laughter tugging at the corners of her lips. “Oh…” He blows out a breath. “Oh, you’re joking? That was a joke. You have an unfair sense of humour…” “Don’t make yourself such an easy target next time.”
— 3: To Ash and Ember [ARR]
Lahabrea stares at her, startled out of his victory, mouth twisted with contempt. “How—” Aureia raises a hand, palm sheathed in blinding light. “Get the fuck out of him, you bastard.”
— 4: Sand and Stone [ARR]
“This is good for us,” she says quietly. “The Scions, I mean. We’re exposed here. Ascians, Garleans… it’s only a matter of time before they try again. Mor Dhona will afford us some means of protection we’ve lost.”
— 5: Bitter Frost [ARR/HW]
“You press on,” she says after a moment. She cups her palm between them, subconsciously pulling on the aether around her. A faint flame sizzles to life, warming her fingers. “Guilt can only carry you so far before it bleeds you dry. Just know that the next time… the next time will be different. Better.”
— 6: Divergence of the Heart, Chp 5 [HW]
“I don’t care what they say about me. I’m a hero to some, a villain to others. I can live with it.” “You should not have to. If there was a way—” “Please, Aymeric, I’m begging you not to draft a new statute on my behalf. You can’t decree change and expect centuries-old beliefs to shift overnight.”
— 7: Divergence of the Heart, Chp 7 [HW]
“Happiness? What makes you think I’m happy with this? With any of this?” “You’re the Warrior of Light. Defender of Eorzea and a beacon of hope. Blessed by Hydaelyn and beloved by all. What possible reason could you have not to be?”  “Oh, fuck you.”
— 8: Divergence of the Heart, Chp 8 [HW]
She blinks. It shouldn’t be more simple than that. Does he not comprehend why this is so profoundly embarrassing? “And..?” “And how would this fact be of such radical importance that it would be the sole cause of a change in my opinion of you? Do you believe it so crucial to your identity that I should judge you differently for it?” “No, I don’t think that at all. I suppose I feel I’m… a failure, somehow. As a person.”
— 9: For All the Truths Left Unspoken [HW]
“Oh? Because you seem a little haggard, Thancred. Why don’t you look me in the eye and tell me what time you went to bed last night. Or if you went to bed at all, for that matter.” “It is not your concern—” “No, but you could have at least done the decency of admitting what was going on before you started fucking my friend.”
— 10: A Question of Desire [HW]
She cuts him off with a kiss. [Aymeric] groans softly, leaning into it, and she laughs with delight. “Save it for later,” she murmurs against his mouth.
— 11: Bound by Faith, Chp 2 [ShB]
“Under pain of further admonishment, I told her what I could.” “Nothing unfavourable, I trust,” she says drolly. “Who do you take me for, Aur?” “An idiot, if I’m being honest. Next question?” “…stumbled right into that one, didn’t I?” “Yes.” Her eyes sparkle with fondness. “You did.”
— 12: Bound by Faith, Chp 2 [ShB]
“There. That’s it. Aureia was a name I took by chance. Not because I wanted it, but because I needed it. An alias intended for Ul’dah alone, one I intended to relinquish the moment I could escape the city. But then you called me Aur and it… stuck.” She hesitates, her voice breaking. “I don’t know why it felt right, but it did. You gave me a name, Thancred, without even realizing that that was what you were doing.”
— 13: Bound by Faith, Chp 4 [ShB]
“They don’t hurt. At least, not like this. Sometimes, with astral fire…” She closes her eyes and swallows hard. “He did something to me, Thancred. Whether it was his intention or not, he left a mark that is more than skin deep. Like a part of his aether was seared onto mine. It makes me powerful, yes, but… my magic is not always controlled. It’s never been the same since then.”
— 14: Untitled Post-5.3. Fic, Chp 2
She glances at him and finds him glaring at her. It’s not a real glare—behind the dark look and mock exasperation is a knowing smile. “She’s taken full reign of the apartment. Mess everywhere. Looks like a tempest went through the place.” “Far too easy to imagine that.” “I don’t know where she gets it from.” “Oh, I know for certain. That’s the influence of your bad habits, not mine—” “I—listen here, you ass—” “Oh, an ass, am I? Bit early to deteriorate to name calling, no?”
— 15: Untitled Post-5.3. Fic, Chp 4
“Aur… that suite I mentioned earlier… I was quite serious about it.” “The suite or the sex you want to have with me in it?” “The whole matter.” She pauses, holding the soup out to him. “You should finish it,” she says quietly.

I hope this doesn’t come across negatively but probably more realistic with a lot of hope, but I don’t think we’ll get too many more hints of buddie this season.
Also buckle up fellow buddies as this is a long post!!
I think some of the scenes where Tommy says Chris loved Buck and that he’d never come between them alongside dialogue about ‘jumping ship’ and Eddie wanting to scrap relationships and ‘hang with the boys’ are supposed to keep the coming out arc Buck centric whilst also leaving Easter eggs for future buddie.
However I think there are a few things that will mean we won’t see much progress until maybe even the second half of season 8:
1. Whilst as a queer person I hate to say this, I do see execs saying no to two characters who to the GA have only been straight presenting so far coming out as queer being an issue at least to do so close together. However, I fully think the show has backed itself into a corner and see it being endgame but definitely not this season or early next.
2. I think the catholic guilt story line is the perfect way for Tim to keep an Eddie coming out story alive in the background. I can see them keeping Eddie single while playing out that arc on things outside of his sexuality until they get a go ahead. (I do also think they might do a Demi sexual and asexuality spectrum sort of thing for Eddie which could be cool as they’ve only had him canonically sleep with 2/3 women and so could pull off a story line where Eddie hadn’t realised his feelings for Buck because he doesn’t understand his own sexual attraction and romantic attraction)
3. Realistically Lou is likely to have less and less time available for 911, I also don’t think they’ve introduced him with enough back story (plus glossing over the not so nice bits which means they can’t even bring that back up) to be more than the usual LI. I also do think it would be great to see his and bucks relationship play out and end amicably to really cement a change in Buck. I think they’re setting him up for Buck to learn a lot from him and I think it 100% fits Buck’s character for him to not be endgame with the first man he dates.
4. I think they’ve dug themselves a hole and buddie is the only way out. Tim admitted that he felt Buck was stuck in a hamster wheel and this arc was part of his way out. I would argue that Eddie’s character is getting there too. He tries a relationship, it fails (for honestly such stupid reasons lol) and then he has this whole ‘are romantic relationships even worth it’ attitude for seasons at a time.
5. Almost all long term arcs seem like they’re going to be ending this season. Henren adopting, Madney getting married, Bibuck finally no longer stuck on a hamster reel. I can see them making someone like Ravi a main (to and then starting buddie as a long term arc next year.
I’m so glad we got bi buck but let’s be honest, the hints for some sort of sexuality arc for Eddie have been way stronger. Lou already said that the original arc was for Eddie which shows that they think they’ve left enough easter eggs for it to make complete sense. They could have stuck Buck with a woman as endgame and denied all bisexual hints and the GA would’ve bought it because Buck always chases relationships. But I think they’d really struggle to do the same for Eddie.
That was a great long ask. Thanks anon. Those are awesome points you’ve made as well.

Deadpool's voice and its media portrayals
I read this post by @jhirowolf and @spider-mand, which inspired me to make my own post specifically about dp's voice - please read the og post first!
In the comics it's known that Deadpool has a unique voice - his speech boxes are yellow while everyone elses' are white. What makes it unique is its quality (it's described as rough, raspy and gravelly) but I also think that it's its cadence too (i'll get in to this below). Unfortunately, Ryan's voice in the movies doesn't really come close to this - for multiple reasons.
Ryan's voice physically is very smooth and also pretty high but I get the sense that as dp, he doesnt really do much for his voice, he is pretty much just himself and cracking jokes. As @jhirowolf pointed out, he kind of has this smooth, sarcastic tone. For me the vibe is that of a stereotypical side-character who mumbles sarcastic comments at whatever the other characters are doing. Ryan's voice is often mellow, calm and even
I dont have concrete examples right now, but in the comics SO many characters call Wade insane mere minutes upon meeting him, despite the fact that they dont know anything about him apart from the fact that he is a mercenary.
Why? Because of his voice!
Immediately upon hearing him talk they conclude he is unhinged and unstable and generally unwell. He's loud, aggressive, speaks a mile a minute and on top of that makes dark jokes serious situations that no one else laughs at. It freaks people out and rightfully so! Adding on to this, I think he varies his pitch and rhythm frequently, further making him appear unstable because his voice is never even or monotone for more than a few seconds. I'm basing this on the fact that his speech bubbles are so much bigger than everyone else's (he talks a lot) and also bc he varies his facial expressions and body language a lot when he speaks.
@jhirowolf mentions that Denis Leary was the inspiration for his voice, which i had no idea about but looking at this video, I think his cadence is perfect. You feel that unlimited energy, the loudness, the unpredictableness, his voice and the look behind his eyes make him seem manic and frantic - which it should! It puts people on edge around him, gives him his reputation of being unpredictable and also makes him regard him as insane. Wade doesnt give a shit about norms for socializing, how loud or crass he is - hes got shit to say and hes gonna say it, no matter how much it may annoy, offend or make others uncomfortable
youtube
i think the teaser trailer for the first movie could be Ryans best work when it comes to wades voice
youtube
Conversely, this video could be the worst:
youtube
Like this is purely Ryan, theres no deadpool here. its just his own shameless self-promo in a dp suit
Nolan's voice, on the other hand, isn't perfect either bc it kind of has the similar smooth quality as ryans, its not gravelly, raspy or anything. But his cadence is soo good! He's calm one minute but you never know when he's gonna snap and lose his shit, i love it
youtube
And yeah, Nolan's performance and the funny moments are the only good thing to come out of this game (well i guess another positive is that it made him more popular, it certainly was one of my first encounters which made me interested in him). The bad thing is the amount of damage it did to the complexity of dp's character - they stripped away his layers, the serious and tragic parts that make up who he is, instead of this they literally gave him 1 trait - insane. And that was it. I blame Way's 2008 run for this bc he essentially did the same thing - but the game turned it up to 11. Way at least included several serious and earnest moments where Wade was forced to be introspective and face his issues
in conclusion - so far our ears havent yet been blessed to hear wade's voice

Kurvitz stresses that Kim doesn't actually have a character sheet hidden in Disco Elysium's code. Imagining that Lieutenant Kitsuragi has only one natural attribute point in Motorics helps the ZA/UM team to understand the depth of his character beyond what's referenced in the game's dialogue. "We just came up with this stuff for coherency," says Kurvitz. "And because we're nerds."
"I like to think Kim has a Thought Cabinet project called Revolutionary Aerostatic Brigades that he's worked on since he was a teenager," Kurvitz says. "This raises the learning caps for his Reaction Speed and Interfacing."
Kim's high Volition skill makes him impervious to prying, Kurvitz says, as the detective can find out on occasions being met with Kim's brick-wall resolve. Kim often chastises these whims of the detective's, but will occasionally play along. The Lieutenant finds his new partner funny, says Kurvitz.
Kim is naturally shit at Motorics and thinks Harry is funny source

the clans use salt for healing and cooking if i remember correctly. im only saying this because would someone ever name their kid "saltkit"
Yes! Saltkit is a valid prefix in BB, but only after moving to the Lake.
Before then, they make a sort-of-salt out of burning dandelion root. They consider this material a kind of soot, fine ashes produced by burning something. The rough translation of this spice is "soot-salty-taste."
Salty (taste) = Byyle (Comes from blood-taste)
Soot (ashes produced by finely burning something) = Keybo (Used alone in artsy contexts, usually describes bistre, a pigment made from soot and water.)
Plant Salt (of coltsfoot or dandelion) = Keybyy
To specify if it comes from Dandelion or Coltsfoot, you'd say Keybyy Raerra or Keybyy Hakprru. There aren't two dedicated words for the difference; these are both considered "types of dandelions" by Clan cats.
Dandelion = Awpo Any flowering ground plant with fluffy yellow petals.
This is why they didn't previously have a word for salt itself! They would only ever encounter raw salt as an animal lick, which they'd call Byylebon. Salty-useful-rock. Because it was associated with humans, they wouldn't steal them or interact with them much.
Rraash is a Townmew loanword, a word they adopted for raw, powdered salt during their time trading with BloodClan. At the Lake, they now collect raw sea salt during "Salt Patrols," which are beach trips where a big collection of apprentices are brought to the ocean to learn how to collect and process salt.
So, depending on how the parents would like to name their child, those translations could be;
Byylemew = Saltykit The taste of salt. Could refer to the flavor of blood, the taste of the ocean, or the spice made from burned dandelion roots. Has a very food-y connotation, probably named by gourmands.
Keybyymew = Saltkit, Spicekit, Seasoningkit, Rubkit This is a very ThunderClan sort of name. They traditionally used a lot of keybyy in their recipes, as it's very important for a good marinade and making ham. Though, it wouldn't be too surprising to see it used in WindClan too.
Rraashmew = Saltkit, Brinekit Raw salt. Made from boiling ocean water during large expeditions to the sea called a "Salt Patrol." Used as a medicine AND as a spice, important in controlling parasite infestations, fighting infection, and preserving food. Could just be referring to an off-white colored pelt, food, or even strength in battle for its association with treating wounds.

there is something about the way that dick approaches damian in Batman and Robin (2009) and the way bruce approaches damian in Batman and Robin (2011). where it's very similar: both are not exactly prepared for this, are frustrated with damian, doubt their own abilities to be what he needs but feel responsible anyway.
but it's different...in 2009, the responsibility is on dick to change, to gain damian's respect--which is how it should be, because dick is the adult and damian is the child (10 years old. that's a fourth grader) who is in his care. vs in 2011, the responsibility is more so on damian (the fourth grader) to change, to gain bruce's respect.

I've watched Scream 6 so many times at this point to talk about it that I genuinely can't take it seriously anymore.
