Blood/Gore warning! Just in case—
My first major post to a new fandom and I brutally kill a main character. Shouldn’t have expected much else from myself, honestly. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
Anyway, context if my subtle background hints weren’t enough (or ya just want a little bit more info):
Post movie, Leo couldn’t be saved, and everyone went home mostly expecting him to be dead. There was very little hope for his survival, really, and they all had injuries to care for themselves. While they did plan on trying to check later on, (at least to get a body), with Donnie building a portal and Mikey trying to unlock his powers, in the end, they didn’t have to.
Within a few days, things started happening gradually around the lair (moving objects, closing doors, flickering lights, etc), until eventually they were getting texts from Leo’s number. No one really wanted to believe it, whether out of fear of what his presence implied or straight up not thinking ghosts were real, but eventually, as Leo texted things only he’d know (and the general acknowledgment of Hamato spirits being a thing), they came to be… open to the idea.
Draxum confirmed that ghosts were fairly common amongst yokai, separate from spirits, and with that Donnie dived head first into researching it, determined to see the ghost and get solid proof that it was, in fact, his twin.
In that research, he came across information on a ghost’s appearance. He didn’t pay much attention to it, or the dread that settled in his stomach. He didn’t care. He didn’t.
But Leo does. Leo really, really does. And that’s two reallys.

Schools always preach so much about the importance of sex ed. About how discovering your sexuality is an important stage of development. About how you should to understand your likes & dislikes. And about how this knowledge can help you do just that. They're right.
But, for some reason, they don't extend this compassion to queer people. Instead, they assume everyone in the room is straight and treat them as such. Without giving my existance a passing nod.
I'm confused. I don't know what I want. Currently I've learned most of my education from sex jokes and some lines in Heartstopper. I barely know the basics. Do your god damn job and educate me. But then again, maybe it's too much to ask given that you can't even say I exist.
Experts will say stuff like "When you'll be with a man" like it's completely universal. And even though I know I have a right to consent, the lack of acknowledgement is stressing me out. I don't want to. I'm not like you. Just say I exist. Somewhere in the lectures. Say I exist. But they never do.
Dear schools, your idea of supporting queer youth is incomplete. It starts and ends with typical, in-your-face homophobia. You might not hate us, but you're still excluding us. Which isn't support, it's bare minimum. Don't pretend to give a fuck about the community while neglecting it.

I've been writing my own sci-fi universe on and off after new Trek disappointed me, and has continued to disappoint me. If I had to sum it up it would be Star Trek but more overtly communist and also military sci-fi.
I've mainly been inspired by things I've read/played/watched, which has mainly been made by white or western creators, so I wanted to ask if you had any recommendations for sci-fi made by POC creators to broaden my horizons.
omg of course!!! (with the caveat that unfortunately non-Western scifi specifically is a bit of a blindspot for me, so most of these will be Western authors of colour)
Babel-17 by Samuel R. Delany
Dawn by Octavia E. Butler
Binti by Nnedi Okorafor (& i recommend reading the complete trilogy - imo it works best read together as one whole)
The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson
Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang
New Suns: Original Speculative Fiction by People of Color ed. by Nisi Shawl
How Long 'til Black Future Month? by N.K. Jemisin
I'm Waiting for You and Other Stories by Kim Bo-Young
And 2 that i personally haven't read yet but i think NEED to be mentioned, especially if we're talking space stories:
Ninefox Gambit by Yoon Ha Lee (also military scifi!)
An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon
also, short story anthologies!!! if you're looking for new authors or want to explore works from a specific culture/place, they're a great way to do that. here's a couple from my own reading list for this year:
Palestine + 100: Stories from a Century after the Nakba
Africa Risen: A New Era of Speculative Fiction
Readymade Bodhisattva: The Kaya Anthology of South Korean Science Fiction
Sinopticon: A Celebration of Chinese Science Fiction
& finally, i don't really watch a lot of tv/movies, but i do wanna wholeheartedly recommend:
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Janelle Monáe's Dirty Computer (free on youtube and an absolutely top tier example of afrofuturism)
Nope
They Cloned Tyrone

As an autistic person who masks too much, I fucking see you. I hear how you speak of other autistic people who don't mask like me, I see you having no patience, being uncomfortable, weirded out. But it's fine, because I'm not like that right? No one can really tell that I'm autistic, because I'm a nice one, I'll listen to you talk, I'll put myself in your fucking shoes. I am 100% sure you would be disgusted by what I actually am. If I stopped biting down on my words, you would call me a monster as well, and you wouldn't be wrong, but I told you from the start what I was, it's your own fault for refusing to believe me. Except I respect myself, I love what I am, so take the door, please, and don't linger in my life. This nice personality I've crafted for years takes me so much energy, so if you see the mask fall down, wonder why.
