IN SEARCH OF DANIEL BRÜHL MOVIES?
Uploaded a copy of Colonia onto my Mega account to share with a friend and I figured I might as well host other DB movies there—specifically those that are difficult to find—for others who might be looking for them.
Tumblr media
This is inspired by these two incredible resource posts: Useful links for Daniel Brühl fans by @bruehl
Daniel Bruhl Movie Masterpost by @rachreads
These compilations have provided me with several DB movies I'd nearly given up on finding. So in the spirit of paying it forward, I'm here to share some of my own finds.
I tried not to overlap my files with the ones already shared by those two resources, but if they do, it's for those who prefer a lower file size for easy downloading or for those who can't be bothered to figure out how to upload subtitles onto YouTube.
Basically, most of these are shit copies but they come complete with English subtitles. So makes for easy watching but not for making quality GIFs. Also included content warnings for those who need them.... but know that they're based on my memory which is also shite. 1. No Regrets / Nichts Bereuen (2001) - 887MB
[CW: sex, partial nudity]
Tumblr media
2. The White Sound (2001) - 800MB
[CW: nudity, mental illness]
Tumblr media
3. Salvador (2006) - 992MB
[CW: sex, partial nudity, violence]
Tumblr media
4. John Rabe (2009) - 1.21GB
[CW: nudity, rape, violence]
Tumblr media
5. Me and Kaminski / Ich und Kaminski (2015) - 2.79GB
[CW: sex, partial nudity]
Tumblr media
6. Colonia (2015) - 806MB
[CW: partial nudity, violence]
Tumblr media
Most of these are heavy but they are worth watching. Reviewed No Regrets, John Rabe, and Me and Kaminski on this post: The Best of Daniel Brühl. Hadn't seen The White Sound and Salvador at the time of posting, but Daniel is particularly proud of his work on those.
Might add The Coming Days... in the coming days. p.s. feel free to message me for other DB films you can't find unless it's The Face of an Angel 😅. Will be hosting for as long as I don't need the storage.

Future Diary Radio TL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s the (long time coming) update on the Future Diary Radio CDs! I’m sorry it took so long to finish this project, as always, school has me on a chokehold, but I’m glad to say the translations are finally done! In case you missed the original post, the Future Diary Radio CDs are an obscure piece of media from Future Diary that include commentary from some of the show’s voice actors, regarding their experiences voicing the characters and opinions about the series. You can now find the three tracks with the translated subtitles on my Youtube channel (daisynilla) or on the links down below. Special thanks to @iwanpepsu, @syrpai and @the-chosen-blood-teller for helping me gather the tracks from the radio CDs.
youtube
youtube
youtube
And on a semi-related note, I also wanted to use this post to comment on a couple of things that came up while doing research for this project.
1. In all of the three Radio CDs, the voice actors mention something about a live concert that happened at Shibuya AX on July 29th. I'm not sure how well-known this concert and the music featured in it are among the fandom, but given how much it is talked about in the radio CDs (and how much information I gathered on it incidentally), I figure I should make a separate post dedicated to that. Especially because of… this:
Tumblr media
2. On one of the Radio CDs, there was a mention of the DVD cast commentaries done by the Japanese voice actors. I don't own the DVD, but I was accidentally sent the audio for these Japanese cast commentaries in response to my last post about the Radio CDs. For my sanity’s sake, I’m not translating this, (I feel like the radio CDs are a good enough stand-in for the cast commentaries) but given its mention, I wanted to provide some of the context surrounding it. Like your regular cast commentaries on any DVD’s bonus features, the voice actors share their comments of the show as they watch the episodes. The order of the voice actors featured in each episode goes as follows:
Episodes 1-2: feature commentary from Misuzu Togashi (Yukki’s VA) and Tomosa Murata (Yuno’s VA).
Episodes 3-5: Aizawa Mai (Minene’s VA, ps her voice is so high it caught me off guard), Kawahara Yoshihisa (12th’s VA) and Sendai Eri (Tsubaki’s VA).
Episodes 6-8: Sanada Asami (Reisuke’s VA) and Mizuhara Kaoru (Rea’s VA).
Episodes 9-11: Ishida Akira (Akise’s VA), Matsuoka Yuki (Hinata’s VA) and Hiramatsu Hirokazu (10th’s VA).
Episodes 12-14: Ishii Makoto (Nishijima’s VA) and Tanaka Masahiko (Kurusu’s VA).
Episodes 15-17: Seki Tomokazu (Marco’s VA) and Kuwatani Natsuko (Ai’s VA).
Episodes 18-20: Yukana (Mao’s VA) and Shiraishi Minoru (Kousaka’s VA).
Episodes 21-23: Inada Tetsu (Ryuji’s VA, aka 11th’s secretary) and Konno Hiromi (8th’s VA).
Episodes 24-26: Domon Jin (3rd’s VA) and Honda Manami (MurMur’s VA).
(Also, I'm pretty sure the English version of the DVD includes cast commentaries too, but I don't know if those are the Japanese cast commentaries with translated subtitles or if it's commentary from the American cast… probably the latter, but I guess I’ll have to look a little deeper into that.)

Tezuka Productions just started to post the 60s Astro Boy on YouTube for limited time buuuuuut I think is only available in Japan 🙄
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Time for me to rant, sorry not sorry.
I find very odd how stingy they are with Astro Boy, and only with Astro Boy in general.
Is the only one that is a real pain to find subs and HQ episodes that is not in a weird site or you need good contacts inside of the fandom to get a link to watch it.
Any other Tezuka anime is really easy to find, or is on YouTube or on Internet Archive, even Black Jack has basically everything on YouTube and they don't give a flying fuck about it for some reason.
And also I can watch Black Jack on their japanese Youtube channel but not Astro Boy, because ??????
I just wish they were not stingy with old anime and we could watch it legally with options of dub and subs for who wants it.
I personally really dislike English dub things in general (not original audio just to be clear) I think is pretty bad and on Tezuka Productions English YouTube most of the time they only give you options of dub versions which is bad so unfortunately I go look for a sub it somewhere else or PT-BR dub when is dubbed of course.
And even if is dubbed on my language sometimes the dub is so old that is really hard to even understand what their are saying so I give up and I just go watch a sub version instead.
Like, is not difficult to hire someone to make proper subbtitles fr.
I think they removed that option of the community to add subtitles because we cannot have good things.
I just wish I knew fluent japanese because I would be like:
No one wants to translate this old ass anime I like?
Tumblr media
Anyways, long story short: GIVE US LEGAL OPTIONS!
Again, sorry not sorry for the ranting, this just makes me mad.

BTS Content Watchlist - Master Post
Tumblr media
Intro/what/why even I like to make things that didn't exist when I was a baby ARMY that I wish had existed. I'm also rather insane.
I decided to do this big BTS project because I needed something to do and I miss them a lot. My original Official Fan Content Watchlist was fun to put together, but definitely light on content. (Side note: I plan to update that post with all 2 things they've released since 2021 [hyperbole], but probably not until I get to those years on my current project.) So naturally, I decided to take it up about 1300 notches 😅 I already finished 2012-2014, and I'm working on 2015. These lists are really intense, so I'm going to create separate posts and link to them here.
What kind of content is on this list? Official fan content, fan lives, member logs, documentaries, and variety show appearances. No formal/stand-alone interviews or radio shows, announcements/promos (unless they're done as a skit), music videos, dance practices, or performances. For US TV appearances, I will only include content done in the spirit of variety shows (ex: the skits from Fallon, but not the performance or interview cuts).
What kind of links are on this list? Most links will take you to Youtube, either the official BTS channel, or a fansub if no English subtitles are available. For paid fan content, I won't be providing links but they will appear on the list in the order they aired along with everything else. The only links to weverse on the list are videos which are free to watch with an account. I didn't want to link to them at all, but couldn't find any other sources that have all the live videos with working English subtitles. Other sources (used sparingly) include Viki (subscription service for Korean television), dailymotion, mega, and ok.ru as a last resort.
Why are the lists broken up so weirdly/Why so many posts???? tumblr has a really dumb 100 link per post limit, and of course BTS content easily passes 100 things in a year. Sometimes it feels like they have 100 contents in a month (and maybe in some cases they do).
BTS Content Lists by Year
2012-2013 Pre-Debut
2013 June-September, October-December
2014 January - June, July-November, December
2015 January-May, June-August, September - November
2016
Let me know if a link isn't working, or if you find something I missed! My ask box is always open, anon or not 💜💜💜

I Used Artificial Intelligence on Japanese Voice Actor (Seiyuu) Content
Tumblr media
TL;DR Seiyuu fansubber rambles too long about how Whisper and other AI go *BRRRR!!!!* and the future of humanity is at stake. Actual TL;DR OpenAI's Whisper gives us a sneak peek into just how much automatic transcription and translation by artificial intelligence has improved. I wouldn't say it'll completely replace human translation just yet, but it's definitely something industries will have to adapt to.
Introduction
Let's start why I even decided to make this blog. I woke up today and noticed a message on The Seiyuu Stage Discord server that had a very interesting link to a reddit post. According to OP, they used OpenAI's Whisper to create a collection of English translated subtitles on the popular TV show "Tokyo Encounter", which is hosted by the famous Japanese voice actors (seiyuu) Nakamura Yuuichi and Sugita Tomokazu. OP claims that Whisper has "quite good translation" and was "roughly ~90% accurate". That's a pretty big claim if I do say so myself.
Although the link led to one of those shady pirating sites, curiousity got the best of me and I decided to download it like an idiot. Fortunately I didn't get hit with a trojan or anything, and the file was just a zip full of .ass files (subtitle files similar to .srt files). Before I jump into the main content of this blog post, I'd like to provide some important background information that is required to understand just what I'm talking about.
Disclaimer: I am not an expert in the field of artificial intelligence. I am also not a native Japanese speaker.
Background Information
Even if you've been living under a rock for the past year or so, you've probably at least heard of the crazy fast advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) within the past few months. You've probably heard of Stable Diffusion, ChatGPT, and many other AI that have begun to revolutionize the world. Today I'll be doing a quick review of how well OpenAI's Whisper works on a certain type of niche content. For those of who are not yet unware, OpenAI is famous for it's AI "ChatGPT". I literally asked ChatGPT to explain what ChatGPT is here below.
Tumblr media
What is OpenAI's Whisper?
So what about Whisper? What is its purpose? According to OpenAI's official blog post,
"Whisper is an automatic speech recognition (ASR) system trained on 680,000 hours of multilingual and multitask supervised data collected from the web."
Tumblr media
To put it simply, Whisper is like a supercharged Google Translate for videos and audio or a better YouTube auto-captions.
Like YouTube's auto-captions feature, Whisper can transcribe human speech and even translate it into other languages. The one downside is that Whisper cannot auto transcribe and auto translate in real time, so you cannot watch a video/listen to audio at the same time. That leads me to the next section of this horribly organized post.
OpenAI's Whisper Vs. Japanese Voice Actor (Seiyuu) Content
Ok, with all of the background knowledge that's required to understand is now out of the way, I can finally jump into the main purpose of this blog. The main things I'll be exploring are listed below
Just HOW GOOD is Whisper AI at transcribing and translating Japanese? More specifically, speech from professional voice actors in Japan, who are usually known for having some of the most clearest enunciation in the country.
How does Whisper compare to other machine transcribers/translators such as YouTube's Auto-Captions feature and Adobe's Speech to Text feature for Premiere Pro?
Is Whisper AI even worth using?
Whisper AI - Transcribing & Translating
Due to some issues with my PC not cooperating with them, I am currently not able to actually use Whisper myself. Therefore, I will be using Whisper outputs that I got from other people.
Let's start by looking where Whisper messes up.
CLIP 1
youtube
Nakamura: How about you set it to today? Hanae: It's the 9th.
So in the clip above, Nakamura suggests Hanae to set the date on the game to be the day the episode airs/is recorded, which is on the 9th of the month. For some reason, Whisper completely messes up the translation. This is about 1 minute and 30 seconds into the episode, and until then there were no obvious mistakes from Whisper.
CLIP 2
youtube
There are two lines in the clip above that stand out to me.
花江 「出た!懐かしい」 Hanae: I remember this 杉田 「ちょっと声が若い」 Sugita: He's a young man
While the translation for Hanae's line isn't outright wrong, it lacks some nuance. I would've translated it as, "There it is! This brings me back!"
Whisper leaves out the nuance of Hanae being surprise when it suddenly appears on screen, and also him expressing his feeling of nostalgia.
With Sugita's line, Whisper straight up incorrectly translates the line. Sugita states that the voice of speaker in the game sounds like he's young (implying that the voice of the speaker sounds a lot older in the present day).
CLIP 3
youtube
In this 3rd clip, I'd like to praise Whisper for accurately transcribing the input controls that Hanae is reading out loud. There were no mistakes in this particular clip, and it didn't make any mistakes when Hanae was reading the input controls before this scene as well.
If I had to nitpick, Whisper seems to really push back the timing of each subtitle line way too much. You can clearly see that the line appears before anyone actually says anything, and this issue persists throughout the rest of clips I'll be showing. Obviously, this is something you can manually fix and is rather simple.
Also, Whisper seems to not care about pauses within a sentence. Hanae laughs, causing him to not complete his sentence smoothly, however Whisper doesn't take that into account. This ties into the next clip.
CLIP 4
youtube
In this next clip above, there are no mistakes. I would say that Whisper did a pretty good job here correctly translating what was said, and there's not really much to complain about.
However, I would like to note that Whisper lacks a sense of "spice" to all of its outputs. I can't say, "It's almost as if a machine made this", because well... a machine basically did. Whisper lacks that special feeling that a human took their time to think about and translate each line. It is quite literally robotic at times.
CLIP 5
youtube
So in this clip above, you can clearly tell that the issues I mentioned earlier are all kind of compounded.
The timing of the subtitle line is way too early.
"He's not doing anything." is not what Nakuramura said.
Whisper completely ignored what Sugita said.
CLIP 6
youtube
In this final clip from the show, I'd like to include it because what's happening on screen is just kind of funny.
Whisper mistakes Hanae saying すね毛 (sunege), which means leg hair, for the word "sneaky".
I would like to praise Whisper for properly indentifying that Sugita is the one actually controlling the character in this clip though. Japanese is a language where simply saying a verb can be considered as gramatically correct, which means that they can leave out pronouns like "I".
PIKA CLIP
youtube
Let's look at a clip that includes both human translation and Whisper translation. This clip was made by Pika Can't Sub, a fellow seiyuu fansubber and the one who originally linked the reddit post I mentioned earlier. They set up Whisper locally on their PC and tested it out themselves.
In the clip above, the WHISPER translated subtitles are the white ones on the top, and Pika's manual translation on the bottom. You can clearly see that Whisper is REALLY GOOD. Both Whisper's and Pika's translations work really well and there's practically little to no unnatural English.
One thing to note here is that this is appears to be a Japanese news show. Narrators must speak very clearly in order to convey the informaton to the viewers, so that probably helped by making it far easier for Whisper to accurately pick up on what was said.
Comparing Whisper to Other Audio Transcribers
YouTube's Auto-Captions Feature
With my limited test of Whisper I would say it is far, FAR, more accurate compared to YouTube's auto-captions. I'm sure most of you reading this blog have at least used YouTube's auto-captions feature before. Whenever you're watching on YouTube that doesn't have manually added captions, you can turn on this feature. It will transcribe what is spoken in the video, and can even automatically translate it to your desired language.
The biggest downside is that this feature tends to make mistakes, and I mean A LOT of mistakes. In my opinion, it works pretty well for English, but for other languages such as Japanese it tends to be really iffy. Mileage may vary. When using YouTube's auto-captions feature to translate from English to Japanese or the other way around, you'll most likely get very unnatural and odd translations.
If you've ever studied a foreign language before, you'll also know that languages like English and German drastically different from languages like Japanese and Korean. I believe that's the reason why so much gets lost in translation when using machine translation like YouTube's auto-captions. Sometimes the top comment on a YouTube video is just about laughing at the mistakes that the auto-captions makes.
It's almost as if Google Translate was just slapped onto YouTube and they called it a day.
Adobe's Speech to Text for Premiere Pro
youtube
I will using the video I created above as a reference for this section~
You may have also heard of Adobe's "Speech to Text" for Premiere Pro. Like YouTube's auto-captions and OpenAI's Whisper, it uses AI technology to transcribe human speech into text. As far as I'm aware though, Adobe's version does not have any translation feature, and also has a far more limited amount of languages that it can transcribe. In my personal opinion, it is far better than YouTube's auto-captions. Since Premiere Pro is a software application for video editing, the Speech to Text integration is really nice. One major downside is that this Adobe feature, along with the rest of their suite, is not free and you have to pay a monthly subscription just to use it.
Like Whisper, you give the AI an audio file that it will read. The AI will then spend a certain amount of time, which varies depending on the length of the audio file, and then spit out the transcription of what you originally fed it. What's nice about Adobe's Speech to Text is that you can literally select it word for word and it'll start playing the timeline from the exact point the AI picked up that word. With Whisper, it only gives you a completed file with timestamps. I believe Whisper gives you an SRT file and that's about it.
My Experience With Adobe's AI
The video is a snippet that I translated and edited from the Bocchi the Radio!, which is the official radio for the TV anime Bocchi the Rock!. The speakers in this clip are the voice actresses for Gotoh Hitori and Yamada Ryou. In this particular episode, 青山吉能 (Aoyama Yoshino) AKA Yoppii, has just physically moved away from her microphone in the studio in order to grab the mail that they have received from listeners of the radio. She is now rushing back to her seat and trying to make it in time to read the segment title and explanation before the music ends. You can also hear 水野朔 (Mizuno Saku) AKA Sakupi, laughing as she is confused as to why Yoppii is frantically running around the studio.
Adobe's version is definitely not perfect by any means. Below, I have provided a small snippet of the raw output I got from it after giving it a wav file (mp3 files work just fine as well). This is about 0:10 in the YouTube video above.
Tumblr media
If you can understand Japanese and English, you can immediately tell there are some discrepancies in what Adobe's AI outputted.
Adobe's Speech to Text Output
Yoppii 「その割合こちらの。」 "Here's the proportion."
Yoppii 「コーナーリスナーさんから用件はこういうことをしているという最新四家情報を送ってもらうコーナーです。」 This is a corner where listeners send us the latest information about the latest four houses that are doing this kind of thing.
My Manual Transcription Fix
Yoppii 「ああああ!!!!間に合え!!」 "AHHHH!!!! MAKE IT IN TIME!!!!"
Yoppii 「こちらのコーナー!リスナーさんから陽キャはこういうことをしているという最新ら陽キャ情報を送ってもらうコーナーです。」 "It's a segment~~! This is a segment where we get listeners to send us the latest extrovert information about how extroverts are doing ____."
For those who don't understand Japanese I'll try to explain some common issues I have with this feature, and elaborate more on the mistakes that the AI has made in this particular case.
One of the many issues I've had with Adobe's Speech to Text feature is that it tends to split lines at an odd place in the sentence. Not quite sure why that is, but I suspect it has to do with how this feature tends to split English speech. Sometimes the AI will spit out a line that is just a huge blob of text and you have to manually split it into multiple lines.
Sometimes Adobe's Speech to Text just leaves out entire words and/or completely transcribes the wrong word. I've noticed this happens whenever there's music that plays at the same time, and/or the audio of the speaker isn't clear. This occurs with YouTube's auto-captions as well and I can't blame it. Error 1: Yoppii is basically doing that fake "AHHHH!!!!" scream, and also yells "MAKE IT IN TIME!!!!" as she tries to get back into her seat in time. The AI obviously did not transcribe this part at all. Error 2: The slang term 陽キャ (you-kya) in Japanese refers to someone who is rather bright, cheerful, and outgoing. I translated it as extrovert in the clip. The AI picked it up as 用件 (you-ken) which means "business; things to be done; errand". It also picked it up a second time as 四家 which is literally four houses lol
In conclusion, with all the bashing I've done on Adobe's Speech to Text feature, I think it's actually really great. The particular example I showed above is usually a tough one for most AI/machine transcribers anyway. It ends to do really well, and far better than what YouTube's auto-captions usually outputs. Although I still have to manually retime all the subtitle lines and manually fix transcription errors, this AI has been an amazing tool in bringing my content creation to the next level.
I would say as a fansubber, timing all the subtitle lines is one of the most time consuming parts of the process, aside from actually translating all the lines. With Adobe's Speech to Text, it actually speeds up the process. With all the AI I've used so far, which isn't just limited to transcribing and translating AI, I've realized that they're best used as a sort of launching pad. With Adobe's Speech to Text, it gives me a rough mold (starting point) and then I can reshape it to how I want, which is a lot faster than starting with nothing at all.
Some other things that make Adobe's Speech to Text feature better than OpenAI's Whisper
You can choose whether or not to distuingish between mulitple speakers, and you can even manually rename or add more if you like.
Tumblr media
After the trancription process is done, you can even convert all of it to captions. Since Premiere Pro 2022, Adobe has added a dedicated captions layer and other updates to make the editing process a better experience. I personally don't use this, because I tend to split each line in a very specific manner that's not possible with the current settings.
I also used Adobe's Speech to Text to help me create this video below.
youtube
Please check out the rest of my YouTube channel~
DeepL Translator
I'd like to just mention DeepL really quick. Like Google Translate, you can give it some text in one language and it will translate to one of the many other languages that are available. I would say DeepL gives far better translations than Google Translate.
DeepL also tends to do really well when translating single sentences. It is pretty good at keeping the nuances and that special human "spice" in slang. That's just my experience with Japanese to English and English to Japanese though.
Unfortunately, DeepL doesn't seem to have a video/audio transcription model or service. That means you would have to manually input each sentence if you were to do a video, and that would an absolute pain. DeepL does seem to have a feature that allows you to upload word documents and PDF files, but I have not tested that out.
Final Thoughts
If you actually read this far, you are a mad man and I truly appreciate you for taking time out of your day to do so. Thank you so much.
How should I conclude this blog...?
To put it simply, this is a game changer.
I started using Adobe's Speech to Text around the end of 2022, and at the time I thought it was an absolute game changer. I had seen some posts about OpenAI's Whisper on TikTok, but didn't think it would be better than Adobe's model. However, after doing some research and writing this blog, I think Whisper might be just as good, if not better than Adobe's. Of course, YouTube's Auto-Captions doesn't even compare. As for DeepL, I would say DeepL is way better for adding in that human "spice" and sounding naturally. Unfornatutely as of writing this blog, DeepL doesn't seem to be working on any video transcription service (that I'm aware of).
So is OpenAI's Whisper worth looking into and using it yourself? ABSOLUTELY. It's open-source, which means its free and the results it gives are without a doubt one of the best out there. AI such as Whisper aren't quite developed enough to completely replace transcribers and translators such as myself just yet, but I'm not sure how much longer until it will. As of right now, these types of AI can be used as a very powerful tool to accelerate your work and actually provide positive changes!
I can't wait to see how much further AI will improve within the next couple years!
Please check out the rest of my channel! I create japanese voice actor (seiyuu) subbed content, mainly on YouTube!

im loving your Kinnporsche posts so so much! I was curious where you watch it on? i upgraded to VIP for the app/streaming service its on, but it says its on at 10 and i dont know if they mean Thailand time or what and im in the states, so i have no idea when itll be on on my time. and after 1x04 im dying to see 1x05. thanks!
Wow, thank you. That's so kind of you to say and I'm flattered.
Tumblr media
Well to be honest I watch them in several different places. In some ways on Tumblr because all of the amazing gif makers will put up almost whole scenes in gif form. Or someone will write a review for a scene or the episode. And since I live in the US, things are already up and running by the time I'm awake.
So bravo to all the amazing people who have that up so quickly after the episode airs.
But I have seen a few episodes on Dailymotion, youtube, and I think it's a website called IQIYI. I think I saw a link or suggestion (can't remember which) for it on Tumblr a while back. All I know is that it has English subtitles. Which works since I don't speak Thai. Though I'm hard of hearing, so I would need subtitles no matter what language I spoke or understood.
Hope that helps you find a solid place to watch the show. I'm also really excited about the fifth episode. Really curious to see how they handle the aftermath of their first time.

Sun in 12th House Overlay (Once Upon A Time)
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT STEAL MY WORK. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO REPOST, PLEASE GIVE CREDIT.
Tumblr media
Synastry. Don’t let astrology limit you, you can have the relationship you dream of!
Alone With You.
Tumblr media
First, I would like to state that I am not an astrologer. I’m writing this description or whatever you’d like to call this because I created a playlist based on this synastry overlay. My process of creating playlists is like an author writing a book. For this reason I wanted to write this short story (or whatever you’d like to call this) to explain my song choices into my own words based off of the research I did on the Sun being in someone’s twelfth house. If you have any experience with this overlay or if you are an astrologer, let me know your thoughts and experience because I genuinely am interested.
The conscious (Sun) in your unconscious (Twelfth House).
The Sun person lights up the unconscious of the Twelfth House person. This overlay has the potential to create growth, deep intimacy, and the experience of unconditional love. Because the Sun person lights up the unconscious of the Twelfth House person, the Twelfth House person may be very uncomfortable and suspicious of the Sun person. As a result of this, the Twelfth House person may try to keep their distance, yet they still feel a strange pull to the Sun person. These actions by the Twelfth House person may make them appear mysterious to the Sun person and thus a pull to want to know more. Based on my research, it is vital that the Sun person has good intentions and is mindful of the way that they treat the Twelfth House person. It is also vital that the Twelfth House person stops running away from themselves because by them making friends with their own unconscious, this synastry overlay may not be as scary as it seems.
Okay, now to get into the playlist I created and the story it tells based off of this synastry overlay. The playlist (can be found by pressing the link at the bottom of this post) contains 5 songs put all together to create a 17 minute long vibe with the subtitle “Alone With You.”
To kick off this playlist I used the song Santorini Coffee by melvitto. It starts off with the line, “I know what you want baby, I know what need mama.” I felt like this was perfect to start it off because the Sun person has a sort of knowing about the Twelfth House person that can feel as if they’ve been spying on them. So the first song is basically from the Sun persons perspective. Then comes the lines, “Everything you do you got me oh so into you. Me I’m feeling you, me I wonder. How did I find you? Where did I find you? Where did you come from? Can I follow you?” I feel like this is emphasizing the mysterious nature that the Twelfth House person can seem to have to the Sun person and them wanting to know more.
Tumblr media
The second song is On the Low by Burna Boy. The first line to stand out to me when it comes to this playlist topic is, “You know I feel a vibe, you feel a vibe.” The reason why is because I feel it can represent the strange, yet powerful pull the Sun and the Twelfth House person feels towards one another. This next line I feel can be a representation of how the Twelfth House person feels, “Why you want to dey question me like an interview.” I feel like because the Sun person in this playlist is genuinely really interested in the Twelfth House person and has good intentions, it can come across as if they’re overbearing in a sense and the Twelfth House person is like uhhh can you leave me alone and like back up lol. Then the chorus of this song is the same as the title and this can represent the hidden nature of the relationship. From the research I did, it was mentioned that this synastry overlay can be cause for a relationship that takes place behind the scenes or in this case “On the Low”. Talk about sneaky link except with all the feels lol.
Tumblr media
The third song is in French and I will translate the lines that I describe to English. This song is Doucement by Ronisia and doucement translates to slowly in English. I feel like the title of the song kind of represents the pace that this synastry overlay should probably go at, although it may not. Based off of my research, I personally would take a relationship like this slowly because although it may feel so intimate and maybe even telepathic, a relationship that lights up the unconscious should be handled with care and patience, but that’s just my opinion. The lines, “J'sais qu'c'est dur ouais, j'sais qu'c'est dur. Ah nan c'est pas la peine de penser aux autres.” Translates to “I know it's hard yeah, I know it's hard. Ah no it's not worth thinking of others.” To me, the “I know it’s hard” line speaks for itself, that this synastry overlay can be difficult, but the “it’s not worth thinking of others line” is kind of saying like hey, through the hardships we can get through this so what’s the point in focusing on other people? Let’s just focus on us and overcome these hardships together. The next line is, “Dans ma tête, y a que toi, j'connais pas les autres.” and this translates in English to, “In my head, there's only you, I don't know the others.” And this continues on from the last line and my interpretation of it, but I feel like it can also describe another thing that came up during my research which is how the Sun person can appear in the Twelfth House persons dreams and in a way infiltrate their mind. The third line from this song that stood out to me, “Tes défauts, j'ai pas l'temps d'm'y arrêter.” And this translates in English to, “Your flaws, I don't have time to stop there.” This I feel represents the unconditional love that this synastry overlay has the potential to gain if given the chance. Loving someone for being imperfectly pure, but at the same time maybe also brushing over their insecurities and idealizing one another, which was mentioned during my research.
Tumblr media
The fourth song takes us back to the English language and is titled Meet Me in Amsterdam by RINI. The first line that stands out to me is, “There ain’t no sunshine, no sunshine where I was before. But I found the Love, the warmth in your arms.” Although the line “your arms” is mentioned, I kept it in this description because in my opinion without it the, “But I found the Love” line would look odd. But for me, when it comes to this synastry overlay, this line is representing the Twelfth House person and the Sun person lighting up their unconscious mind. And them learning to love the things that they pushed away and ran away from, the things that they once refused to confront about themselves and make friends with. The Sun person helped teach them to love those parts of themselves. Another line from this song is, “When I saw her in my dreams, never thought it meant a thing.” This line kind of continues on from the last song, the Sun person appearing in the Twelfth House persons dreams and basically infiltrating their mind, I feel like the next line I’m about to emphasize will tie into the “never thought it meant a thing” line, that being from the outro, “If there is a next time, Meet me in Amsterdam.” I said this ties in because the twelfth house person as mentioned before can be very suspicious and can throw mixed signals (emphasis on the IF from the line “If there is a next time.”) to the Sun person because this synastry overlay can be scary for them, which is why I recommend taking it slowly/doucement.
Tumblr media
And finally the last song, also the namesake of the subtitle of this playlist is Alone With You by Alina Baraz. I believe in Happily Ever Afters so for me, this song was the perfect Happily Ever After to describe my Sun in the twelfth house synastry overlay playlist. For this song I’m not going to emphasize whether it’s the Sun person or the Twelfth House person feeling this way, I’m just going to say this is them now unified. From the first verse of this song, “You're feelin' a way, baby, I feel it too. You don't gotta tell me about it, we could dance around it, we could rendez-vous.” I feel like this is just perrrfect lol, like you’re so connected that you feel how the other person feels and you’re not forcing them to get it off their chest, we’re just going to “rendez-vous”. Next line, “I'm overprotective, baby, we're connected. Gotta get you out of this mood” this line to me just continues on from the previous and finding ways to cheer the other up to help get them out of the funk. The third line of emphasis from this song for this playlist is, “Breathin' life into you.” To me, this is breathing life into the unconscious, the unconscious becoming conscious as a result of this synastry overlay. This next line was a big one for me, “I've grown with you, Yet our love stays the same.” This to me represents the growth that both individuals encounter as a result of this relationship, yet the unconditional love that they feel for one another never stunted. It’s them growing as individuals, yet still having each other through the thick and the thin. Fifth line of emphasis from this song for this playlist, “Look at you and I see versions of me that I need.” This I feel represents the idealism that this type of relationship can entail. Like you’re so fascinated by one another, that you feel like you need that person in your life so that maybe you can soak up some of their greatness and one day you can be as great as you think they are.
Tumblr media
Now let’s end it with “Alone With You.” To me, this is what Sun in the twelfth house synastry overlay is. Being alone with that one person. Nobody else involved, maybe even nobody else knowing that you two are involved with one another. Literally, just, Alone With You, living Happily Ever After…

English fansubs released for the first 5 Jönssonligan (The Jönsson Gang) films!
Tumblr media
This series of comedic heist films is centered around the titular gang leader, Charles-Ingvar “Sickan” Jönsson, and his two partners in crime. He is originally joined by the optimistic con man/professional yes man Ragnar Vanheden and a strong yet rather nervous Fenno-Swedish guy called Rocky... For the first two films. Afterwards, Rocky would leave the cast to be replaced by Vanheden's cousin: an alcoholic demolitions expert called Dynamite-Harry.
These films are primarily defined by Sickan’s meticulously planned heists, with a recurring theme being common household items being used in unusual ways. Many of these heists also involve his nemesis, the corrupt CEO Wall-Enberg, in some way. But the heists themselves are accentuated by various other things: mild slapstick gags, tense scenes where Wall-Enberg's henchmen actively try to kill the gang, word play that made the translator cry, the occasional jab at contemporary politicians/events, and above all, the... Let’s say eccentric characters just being themselves:
Tumblr media
The first 3 films are straight remakes of films from the Danish Olsen-banden series, but later entries would go on to feature more original material. Despite its derivative nature (and mixed reception from pro critics), Jönssonligan is still fondly remembered in Sweden, to the point that 2 separate documentaries were made to celebrate its 40th anniversary. I hope that at least some of the reasons why come across in translation.
More info about the subs themselves under the read-more. Happy watching!
To start with, by "the first five films" I mean the following:
- Varning för Jönssonligan
- Jönssonligan & DynamitHarry
- Jönssonligan får Guldfeber
- Jönssonligan dyker upp igen
- Jönssonligan på Mallorca
There are more films in the series: I'll create a separate announcement post if I sub any of them. Each film is pretty much a stand-alone, with previous films getting a brief nod at most.
All of the films have been released on DVD as well as a few online services, including Google Play (although you might need to use a VPN to find them there). My subs are synced to the complete DVD box set, but can be used with other releases. Watch out for the desync though: the biggest difference I found between two releases was 1.255 seconds.
Links to the subs:
All 5 films’ subtitles at once: Dropbox, in the .zip called “Jönssonligan with Ekman (films 1-5)”. Sub format .vtt (yellow text by default + a few translator's notes in the files.)
Subtitles by film: On my OSS profile. Sub format: .srt (raw text, no notes)
NOTE: While they technically aren't legal, I'm also aware that there are unofficial YouTube reuploads of each film. Even though they have gotten copyright strikes, you can still view them anywhere on the planet except Sweden for some reason. There is an upload of Guldfeber that features English subtitles, but this is not my translation.

It’s my birthday on May 21st and since I can’t go out and celebrate, l thought it could be fun to host a stream of one of my favourite musicals! I’ve been getting a lot of new followers from my posts introducing and explaining European musicals / non-English language musicals and hopefully this will attract some people who’ve never watched Tanz Der Vampire before. I wish more people would give things not in English a chance.
[Text from above gif: emptymasks’ birthday stream! Tanz Der Vampire, German language musicals with English subtitles. Berlin 2011 cast. 2 hours and 26 minutes long. 21st May 2021, 11pm BST UK time (GMT+1). 5pm CDT/6PM EDT/7PM MDT/8PM PDT]
Genre: Horror comedy romance musical. There’s a little blood as it is about vampires, but no gore and no jump scares or anything meant to be scary. If you like gothic horror or Phantom of the Opera or rock operas there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy this. Or if you just like vampires. TW: Some fake blood and there are flashing lights in a few places. By: Music by Jim Steinman. Lyrics and book by Michael Kunze. Summary: Professor Ambronsius and his young assistant Alfred are on the hunt for vampires and stumble upon a small village. They suspect that the villagers know more about vampires than they let on, and soon discover there is a castle in the woods where the vampire Graf von Krolock and his son Herbert live. While staying at the inn, Alfred meets Sarah, the innkeeper’s daughter, her father being so overprotective that he keeps her locked in her room every day and every night. Sarah longs to escape her life and has been secretly conversing with Krolock for some time. She’s no damsel in distress, she’s attracted to him and what he offers and so she sneaks out of her home and goes to his castle. Alfred is convinced she has been kidnapped and he and the Professor go to the castle to rescue her.
Did you know Total Eclipse of the Heart was originally written to be a vampire love song but Jim Steinman abandoned the Nosferatu musical idea and gave the song to Bonnie Tyler, but then used it again when he finally got to make a vampire musical? But this is not a jukebox musical. There are 9 songs in this musical that are reused either in whole in or parts from previous Steinman songs, but the other 22 are new original compositions.
There are canon LGBT+ characters! Graf von Krolock (Count von Krolock) is bisexual and his son Herbert is gay. And there are multiple amazing dance sequences.
This is the link to the room I’ll be streaming in: app.kosmi.io/room/47y7kb (can’t post it as a proper hyperlink here otherwise Tumblr will do it’s great job of blocking the post so just copy and paste it) Kosmi is great and I love it because it allows for so many different ways of streaming: from a video hosting website URL like Youtube or Vimeo, by screen sharing for things like Netflix, or form a file on the host’s computer. The only thing with Kosmi is that unless you have an account it will say ‘Anonymous [insert animal name]’ and you can’t edit what name appears so to help avoid confusion in the chat it would be awesome if you could make an account, it’s quick and free, so that you’ll have a username in the chat. But you do not have to take part in the chat to watch with us! You can just sit and lurk if you’d like, there’s no pressure to talk in the text chat.

JRR #2: August 1 - August 13, 2020
If you saw this earlier and noticed it was a giant wall of text, that’s because posting drafts from mobile seems to erase all links and other formatting in my posts. Note to self. Anyway: here’s to another set of resources.
Yuki’s Japanese TV: He’s got a variety of video content from JLPT and grammar to vocab but also topics like food and life during a pandemic. What makes his channel extra special in my book (can you guess?) is that he speaks in Japanese. He does have some in English, and others where he speaks both, but as far as grammar—it’s in Japanese (from what I’ve seen). If that sounds intimidating, he hard subs a lot of his sentences (still in Japanese) and supplies graphics to help demonstrate points, so even if you don’t understand all that he says it’s still difficult to feel lost with Yuki.
Automatic Japanese: I am in love with Asari’s channel! Most of her videos are spoken in Japanese and accompanied by Japanese and English subtitles (that she herself makes). She speaks with clarity and in a fair pace that I feel isn’t too fast or too slow, plus she’s given me some pretty solid learning tips this week. I also recommend checking out her IG!
Learning Language with Youtube BETA: something I discovered from Asari! It’s similar to the LLN extension, but for YouTube.
Learn Japanese with Noriko: a podcast in Japanese for listening practice, of course. But I love this one a little more because she offers some (limited) transcripts on her site, and that makes it a little easier (and more fun) for me to follow along.
Erin’s Challenge! I Can Speak Japanese: having never used Erin’s Challenge, I’m not sure if this is an update of the old content or entirely new, but it’s here and ready to help you learn Japanese╭( ・ㅂ・)و ̑̑ ˂ᵒ͜͡ᵏᵎ⁾✩ It’s a series of basic and advanced skit videos with additional parts like key phrases, scripts, and manga for onomatopoeia. I went into Lesson 7 and found it to be, yeah–completely cheesy–but also fun!
Hito’s World: a fun game for learning kanji that I think is best for beginners–either that, or for hammering in the romaji spellings. Or at least in regards to the level I’ve worked up to. (And speaking as someone who never remembers which way is left or right–as in I literally bombed the same A&P quiz twice because I confused left and right–I really have to think about whether I need to type 右 or 左. It’s… a mental exercise.) I wish it allowed or accepted hiragana, but I know it’s a WIP. You can also join r/Hito and check out the road map.
Tobira Vocabulary: Anki deck for Tobira (obviously). Beware: although it says it’s a complete vocab set, I’ve read two comments that claim otherwise.
Tobira Kanji: includes kanji and vocab from all Tobira chapters. Another option if Anki’s not your thing (+ it may actually contain all vocab?). I’ve tried both the Tobira Anki deck and Memrise course, and I actually prefer Memrise in this case. But that’s just me.
Learning ENG & JPN: I did a lot of hunting to find this again, and I almost thought it was a lost resource---this is a blog run by a native Japanese speaker who is learning English. Posts are short and written in both English and Japanese while containing interesting tidbits about Japan and its culture.
Oshaberi Izakaya: this is a completely free way to get in some speaking practice with other learners organized by Japanese teacher Izumi Ise. They meet up a few times a month, but you’re not required to attend all meetings.
Japanese Learner Cafe: similar to the one above, this provides a means to practice speaking. The on-site English allows room for needed clarity, but this is also through Zoom and I therefore assume 100% free. If anyone decides to try it I’d be interested to know what your experience was like!
