Marcos Jr. won the elections using troll farms for propaganda, not to mention all the election commission members are appointees by Duterte, whose daughter ran for VP. He's also backed by several political dynasties that suppressed opposition voices.

Academics, universities, journalists and activists are getting threatened by redtagging or currently being red tagged. There were also voter suppression via police/military that happened in provinces against progressive candidates.

One of the most important online libraries are closed down and the new elected government plans to rewrite history books to deny past crimes of the Marcos family. Our history is getting erased or modified to suit the current administration !

That rant got long but we are really at lost on what to do.

Now before youre like "damn is it rlly that bad ppl are stealing from others?" no. I have a pretty good idea of who did it, and i know theyre the kind to take dogs straight from peoples yards. It's really scary and taunting, because the only interaction ive had from this person has all been second hand from others. and it's enough to know theyre a horrid person. i dont want to be all super personal because i literally just want to send my moving boxes off to my boyfriend, but man this is stressful I'm really glad im getting out of here i cant keep dealing with this. ontop of it just being unsafe as fuck being openly lgbt since ive heard enough of the neighbors openly admit to wanting to harm people like me.

how am i supposed to feel? i’ve been asking that question for so long. but why should i feel when everyone’s feeling but mine matter. at least that’s how it seems, no one ever cares how i feel. so i don’t think i should care either. why are you snapping at me? why don’t you understand? why don’t you… etc. i cant anymore. i don’t want to anymore. i’m at my limit.

you hurt yourself because you feel like you have to in that moment, but you say it solved nothing. how did you expect me to react when i saw it, im not mad, im upset because i feel like i caused it. did you want me to be happy? did you want me to smile? did you want me to brush it off and keep going with my happy mood? no, i can’t eat now, i can’t drink the nice coffee i finally got the chance to treat myself with. and you are shocked when i say i lost my appetite because i feel like i’m responsible for you doing that. am i just supposed to eat a 4 course meal like nothings wrong? no i’m sick to my stomach. i want to throw up the emptiness i feel. i don’t want to move from this bed. nicotine is my only meal, and i’m keeping it this way. keeping it until my end.

One thing I wish I'd spelled out more explicitly in the original post because I see this point getting lost on a lot of rebloggers who don't understand why the healthcare thing was such a big deal is like

The subtext I thought would be understood bc I lived back then but apparently has been lost today is that making sure queer employees and their partners had healthcare in the early 90s meant Disney was paying for a lot of AIDS treatment.

This is one reason fundie Christians were so upset and queer employees were so grateful. It's one reason why it was such a controversial decision. It was a major talking point amongst my family, who believed back then that AIDS was a punishment from God.

(Some still do, I think. We don't talk.)

I keep seeing people saying that Disney only chose that option "because of their bottom line" and it's like??? Were you listening??? Disney has been paying for that decision for literally decades, but they've stood by it.

Like... the 90s weren't like now! It wasn't profitable to cater to the queer population of the country back then. They weren't raking in money with this.

It's in no way a perfect company but I fully believe in criticizing people for the specific things they do wrong and praising them for the specific things they do right. Disney has fucked copyright, monopoly, and labor laws and I'm not about to defend that. But they are well known in FL for being friendly to both queer people and disabled people, and that is unambiguously a good thing.

(Like side note, I could talk about Disney and accessibility for days. I have traveled extensively while disabled and no one does it like Disney.)

I've had people reblogging the post like "I straight-up don't believe Disney is an industry leader in equal protections for queer employees" and it's like ??? do you think I just pulled this out of my ass? If you want more information, go look it up! You'll see that this is well-established history. It's not my fault y'all don't read! :|
