Considered a rarity. And a privilege for dragons #The only drawbacks is that they kinda stick out...they retain a lot of their dragon-like qualities #Which makes it tricky to blend in with humans if that is the goal. But most dragons with this ability manage (if they choose to do so)#It varies from dragon to dragon ofc. But Toothless is one of the few who just CAN'T speak as a human #He's tried. But it sounds like a garbled mess lol #Some of the other dragons have a much better grasp on the human language and how to actually speak #But it's cool bc Hiccup teaches Toothless sign and that's how they communicate #NOW. The difference between Perry and Toothless is that generally Perry is very quiet. Kinda comes with the territory of being an agent #Toothless on the other hand. He's very loud. Even if he's mute #I mean yes he CAN be quiet if he wants. Night Fury duh. He's very good at stealh #*stealth #BUT if he's not focusing on being sneaky he's actually quite rambunctious lol #He may not be able to talk! But he sure does make a lot of other noises!! Most very dragon-like!!#Hiccup unconsciously mimics Toothless every now and then. So I have a fever and I decided to rewatch httyd 1 for the thousanth time

Now I'm pretty sure a lot of people have already pointed this out, but have y'all noticed that hiccup doesn't really have much control over where they're going when it comes to flying with toothless?

Like during that scene when they take astrid flying for the first time and toothless terrorizes her with all the aerial stunts? And when they first end up in the red death's nest? If Hiccup had any significant control over their flight I feel like he would have at least put a stop to the former scene.

So it seems like all he can do is aid toothless in flight—predict how he's gonna fly, what tailfin positions they're gonna use and trajectory and speed and so many other things. Especially when they're pulling those crazy stunts.

Which really makes you appreciate his bond with toothless and how in sync they are

And no there is no point to this post I just wanted to let y'all know that I'm still alive and also appreciate the world's greatest movie

Crossover 3

Y’know, there could be a really fun batman and httyd crossover where the entrance to the Hidden World, or at least an entrance, is in the Batcave. Bruce fell into the cave as a kid, and totally could have stumbled across it as he was fleeing from the swarming bats. Now I don’t know about you, but even with all the bats, I would definitely be intrigued and go back down again at some point because A, the hidden world is gorgeous, and B, freaking dragons. Alfred is just relieved he’s showing interest in something, and probably goes down with him too at some point for safety reasons.

Why does Bruce become Batman instead of something dragon themed? Well, he has Chiroptophobia canonically. To him bats are scary, and dragons aren’t.

I detest how to train your dragon : the hidden world

Nope . Just don't like it. Apart from the animation of toothless and the light fury and the stark contrast to how toothless looked in the first movie and this one .

The plot choices just don't cut it for me , yeah I get the dragons gotta go the hidden world but man it could've been done so much more better without the horrible romantic subplot which honestly had a 10% emotional hold on me ... Like what???

You're using a generic rom-com trope for dragons to give the dragons motive and the story emotion??

You're telling hiccup who spent YeArS trying to uncover the secrets of dragonkind wouldn't in a heartbeat find the hidden world and kick ass to save toothless and keep dragons safe regardless?? We needed toothless and the light fury for what?

I mean wtf wasn't this whole franchise from the fuckin start about fRieNdShIP and bonding between humans and dragons being unbreakable???

bitch please like this entire fandom wasn't here for the soulmatism of hiccup and toothless ... and you decided to sideline that?? Like it's a fuckin sitcom ?? I'm sorry what about my fuckin heart?

You didn't need a romantic subplot between dragons .. nada nothing for the ALL THE PREV MOVIES and A SERIES which were absolutely magnificent and total hits .

I love httyd with all my heart. Truly my favourite animated movies ever. I have sobbed at every damn ending of the movies. I have watched all of them more timed than I'd like to admit .I will die fighting for it.

But this one ? Nah .
