#tragically had to skip the 'are you afraid of me' exchange i love at the start bc. this scene is Long #super dark times #josh templeton #zach taylor #sam edits #btw i'm firmly in the 'Josh didn't kill John' camp. bc to me THIS scene is the point that... makes the most sense as Josh's breaking point/ #'villain turn' if that's what you'd want to call it. because this is really when Josh... sort of 'officially' loses Zach. from early on in #the movie it becomes clear how much Zach is like... an anchor for him—the way Josh is just fucking *chanting* his name in distress during #the Daryl accident. The way Josh begs Zach to believe him that it was an accident. The way Josh turns to Zach for answers/clarity/direction #Like even if we want to take a cynical approach and think of it as Josh just latching onto Zach in the Daryl situation because he was There #rather than that being an established thing w/ them... in the aftermath of that same incident Josh is still looking to/depending on him! #Josh self isolates at first... but after they talk & Zach tells him they shouldn't act weird Josh goes back to school. (yes #he lashes out there because He's Dealing With The Crushing Guilt but *all* of 'em are acting off then—Charlie specifically calls attention #to the idea they all probably are) Josh goes to the party just like Zach said they should and is *visibly confused* when Zach seems mad to #see him there. He goes to Zach's house to talk and you can SEE how caught off guard he is by what Zach says. Even though the script version #of this scene is VERY different from the final version I do think this one bit of description from it is... insightful: 'Josh seems sincere #almost vulnerable. But Zach is too focused to see it.' LIKE in this scene Zach is already convinced Josh has lost it! He's trying to act #more neutral about it (claiming they could just 'draw a line') but we saw his phone call with Charlie. Because of his own guilt-fueled #paranoia—something shown pretty clearly through the assorted dream sequences and like tht scene of him walking in the hall hearing people #gossip about Daryl—it seems like everything lines up too well! that '*of course* it's Josh and what if it's *been* Josh all along and well #then the role *I* played in the situation really isn't *my* fault because it was all *Josh* and...' etc. even if that's more subconscious #But like... this scene is really when it hits Josh! from the moment he asks if Zach's afraid of him now like... there's a shift. although #Zach says he isn't... i mean he fucking stumbles on the word 'afraid' (like... he hangs on the 'f' sound a moment too long to sound natural #its very subtle but like Noticeable). But Josh sees right through him. Zach doesn't trust him anymore. Zach thinks he's the bad guy. the #monster. Josh feeling like he lost the last person he had in his corner feels like the most realistic thing to... push him over the #edge. like that's a compelling tragedy to me—the idea that these two poorly coping with the Daryl situation in these separated ways where #they *aren't* talking/communicating ends up CREATING the feedback loop that makes everything get worse and worse. #But for that to be the case... it wouldn't make sense for Josh to have just randomly killed John before this scene. I think it's a more #interesting story if certain things really ARE just coincidences but it's that Zach's paranoia won't let him see that 🤷

everytime i actually open up sdv to play i get flashbanged with sebastian's white ass sprites because i always forget not everyone sees him as wasian💔 my current hc for him is half chinese (liable to change... but ik for sure he's half asian) but he is Not bilingual he can't rly speak or write the other language he can only understand it when listening but even then he's not very fluent LOL this is just turning into a sebastian hc post might as well go full out. to me sebastian Does have relationship experience but has been thru shitty ones in the past which is part of the reason why he's so pessimistic & brooding </3 and he'd hook up with ppl in zuzu city for a night for a while but it just made him feel shittier so he's stopped since ☝️ also people make him out to be way cooler than he actually is like yea sure he's kinda cool but he's also a Massive Loser especially when he tells you how he hates "seasonal fads" like pumpkin spice and that one line about the potluck soup where he's like "Why ruin the potluck? Maybe I'm weird.” WHO ASKED😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 his ass also can NOT cook he can make spaghetti but it's mid. he probably has low ass stamina and yeah he's tall and lanky (rn i see him as around 5'9-5'10) but you could snap him in half over your knee. when he's in an actually healthy relationship he gets really flustered over certain romantic gestures cuz he's not used to feeling valued or being considered someone's #1. he picks up on little things and does acts of service but i also think he can be really callous and insensitive at times because while he can be pretty perceptive he is also Very Emotionally Stunted. he unlearns lots of unhealthy behaviors & mindsets with the help of his partner & family & friends ^__^

#i almost popped a vein trying not to mention rowan in all of this so this post is more. consumable i guess #but rowan to me is soooooo perfect for him to me because rowan's whole thing is empathy and warmth #where it's a strength but also a weakness for him because he's also a chronic people pleaser and a doormat #out of the need he feels to make people feel valued which is a good thing but not when its to the point of self negligence #rowan gives rly good advice but overburdens himself cuz he feels responsible for ppl&doesnt give himself the same treatment he gives others #when he's with sebastian he helps him feel valued and sebastian learns to trust people more and not to immediately assume the worst of ppl #and seb is sooooooo perfect for rowan bc seb is vocal about what he dislikes and when hes not happy w something/one #and is good at setting boundaries whereas rowan is Not. he helps rowan learn how to say no to ppl and be more assertive #& think abt his own feelings more! they both help e/o vocalize their feelings #for rowan its vocalizing his opinions more and valuing himself more & for seb its vocalizing more for the sake of better communication #w other ppl so he can establish better trust & relations w ppl. and stop being so closed off/unapproachable LOL #their differences match up well but it also leads to arguments/tension cuz seb doesnt communicate and resorts to avoidance #and rowan is too pliant sometimes to the point where it hurts not just himself but the ppl around him including seb #also fun fact rowan is the type to cry when he gets really angry/upset & when seb resorts to avoidance instead of reassurance #(which is what rowan wants) rowan sometimes ends up catastrophizing & also bottles up his emotions similarly to seb #they always reconcile in the end tho even if it takes a while </3 they r both learning ok!!!!!!!! #not perfect to the point where they dont argue bc thats Impossible but they suit each other well. they r good for each other qwq #eon babbles #stardew valley #farmer rowan #<- i talk about him in tags. hehehe

i’ve talked about tested quite a bit, and in the interest of not repeating myself, i wanted to talk a little bit about triggers and the manifestation of them, because i see that happening in both kurt and blaine during this ep. 

traumatic events can trigger all kinds of reactions, and unfortunately, both kurt and blaine now have this particular traumatic experience in common. i talked a little about last ep and kurt’s history with fighting homophobes, particularly, the significance of him deciding to do so physically. i....think it’s fascinating that right after that, we get a focus on exercise, his body, his strength, his competence in combat, and a new healthy diet that he’s following. now, exercising and eating healthy aren’t inherently bad, but what kurt says, the 80+ push-ups, the only taking a sip of the frozen hot chocolate and then saying he’ll run home, the salads, the walking, plus blaine pointing out his diet, all of it reads like he’s clinging a little too tight to these things, trying to use them as distractions from dealing with how he feels after everything (sex is another piece of that, but that’s a different post). to me, something about this attack triggered everything kurt survived in high school - being assaulted, being thrown into dumpsters, etc, and this way of strengthening himself feels connected to that. a refusal to let anything like it happen again, if you will.

as for blaine, what stuck out to me was, during his voiceover, his mentions of lifting, boxing, and being in dalton fight club. we saw in 3x08 and 3x15 that boxing seemed to be one of his outlets to release anger/stress, so it’s interesting to me that he does not do that this time. instead, he’s emotional eating. this brought me back to 2x06, and what blaine says about running. that’s what he did, after he was attacked. he ran, let bullies chase him away. after something similar happens to kurt, he’s getting stronger. and i think the combination of traumatic memories and kurt’s response to what happened to him triggers these insecurities for blaine. he puts his worth in how much use he can be to people, and now that he perceives kurt to be stronger than him, he doesn’t believe kurt will have any use for him, or as blaine sees it: he doesn’t believe he has any value. we’re missing a lot of pieces regarding that sadie hawkins attack, but one thing is clear: blaine was scared, he decided to run to dalton, and he regrets it. and what kurt’s doing, while entirely unrelated to blaine, is sending him into this tailspin because blaine hasn’t properly dealt with what happened to him.

getting annoyed at all the people i keep seeing saying no omg halloween ends was so good because they tried something new and im like yeah ok but did literally any of the stuff they tried actually turn out good? no.

#it didnt even do the bare minimum of creating a coherent whole smh. let alone being good i very nearly did walk out entirely. #like ok playing with the idea that your environment can be what pushes you to do evil instead of you being Inherently Bad #and the idea that like. michael myers isnt some all encompassing evil he's just one of many people out there who do bad things #great i get it. fine #but then they just throw it in the trash by being like actually no corey just is an evil person now. hes got bad vibes. #and then he (spoilers) and his entire story just like. doesnt even get brought up again now its a movie abt killing michael for 20 minutes #like ok . so now michael is the ultimate evil of haddonfield again and we all funeral march together to kill him. sure. #i guess fuck what the other 80 minutes of this movie were about. #like we get a limp line abt how evil never dies it just changes shape but like. they literally did kill both the evils & haddonfield's fine #i dont even think corey or anything about him specifically ever gets brought up again. for the entire last bit of the movie. #and we make zero moves to like address... what happened to create the evil scarecrow man at all. its just like well michaels dead we win. #plus whatever they were trying to do with laurie's entire character just made NO sense. #shes fine now she's healed from her trauma but now people are mad at her because she 'provoked' michael?? #when last movie we quite literally established that she didnt and he wasn't even here to look for her. he does not care abt that woman. #and then her granddaughter being like YOURE SO OBSESSED WITH DEATH YOU WANT EVERYONE AS MISERABLE AS YOU #when like??? laurie isn't even miserable in this movie she's post therapy and doing pretty well and enjoying her fucking life?? #so now everyone is just like. projecting this image onto laurie that we know is provably false but its never addressed #its not like . 'wow people project an ideal onto victims of trauma but its not true'. like i think we are supposed to agree w these people. #or at the very least if we dont agree we're supposed to be like wow that was deep they might have a point. #they just like. say they hate her for being obsessed with her trauma when she isn't anymore and then it never comes back up #and the way they all forgive her is her fighting michael but like thats what she did in 2018 isnt that why you're mad at her???? #and dont get me started on all the fake deep dialogue and monologues or the weird forced love story so they could hook the wattpad crowd. #but like the overall movie there are some ideas that are actually really good and exactly what i'd want in a halloween finale #and they just like . execute literally all of them in the worst possible way . #movie diary

as ive been more and more accepting of my own identity as aro and started caring more about analyzing friendships and generally relationships past what they mean romantically ive felt slightly isolated (and also weirdly both like falling in and out of a stereotype) but also it is nice to care more about friendships in media than romantic ones (especially when in fandom even if the romantic relationship is based in the characters friendship all that matters is the romance) and to even care less about trying to prove i still love others or whatever. at the same time by god is it lonely and it makes me not want to get into things i may have otherwise gotten into if it wasnt advertised as a romance (whether the source was about the romance or not)

#its what made me hold off on watching toh (i didnt care to get into lumity) #(and even then its tubzo whose actually into it and has the memories of it- it still barely interests me even now that i know it- #-isnt about lumity and. is in fact not about amity? i didnt know luz was the main character at all) #and even now its sort of made me not want to get into the life series (3l ll and now double life) because the fandom seems to be mostly- #-shipping and while i respect that it is also just not for me #even if i know the source isnt actually romantic in nature or even as serious as fandom makes it to be #i just see no reason to care if the only thing i know about is the ships #maybe when i manage to get into hermitcraft ill have a connection to the ccs that lets me get into it #but for now. i do not care. i know nothing about it that would interest me #cbeeduo is lucky i got into dsmp before they got married and cared about their characters arcs separately first #and also that they have michael. i think if they werent like an active married couple with a kid i would care less #which is probably why i only really deal w mass amounts of shipping in mlp #because i mostly care abt next gens and the relationships between parents and child #and the ways people establish the ng relationships based off parent relationships #idk! a lot to think about #mask mews #personal #you are free to try and tell me what i would like abt the life series if you think id like it #but right now in all honesty i have no idea whats interesting about it outside of the concepts
