#im living vicariously through the cartoon guys #because i want to A. pick up gator (strong man style) #and B. ..pick up gator (hug) #ok but so i recently found out an area where i take stupid little walks for my stupid little mental health #has! GATORS!! (potentially. theres signs.) #and this is great cause seeing gators would def heal me as a person #but ok so when i look for hiking places i always look north cause the terrains more hilly #but now im lookin south more cause turns out i AM in fact far enough south to see gators!! #and yeah looks like theres a handful of nature reserves w hiking trails the same distance away as the little mountain trails i go to #its flatter and the trails are less extensive so ill hafta see if i think its worth it #but then too theres a really big black water swamp that.. further away then i wanna drive.. #but also i drove 5 hrs once just to go to mammoth cave as a day trip so.. we'll see.. #my friend says he wont go w me tho :T he'll just report me missing #this has been a tag ramble about my sudden outset intrest in seeing a gator #my bullshit #lol barely but still #also- i told myself not to over do it drawin the scales or coloring it #and as you can see i dont listen to myself ever #lol they look outta place but idc i got to draw 2 of my favorite characters and also ALLIGATORS :U #living the dream rn

whenever it rains, it’s ridiculously loud in eddie’s trailer, you could practically sleep outside and get the same experience (aside from getting a little wet, obviously).

eddie, however, because he’s lived there for so long, doesn’t hear a thing. he sleeps like a baby through every single noise you could imagine, not even flinching when a small hail storm blows through. at first you don’t understand, you think eddie’s insane because how could anyone sleep soundly with this much noise going on?

until one night, you’re at your own house tossing and turning in your bed for hours before you give up and drive over to eddie’s because for some fucking reason, you admittedly miss it. you miss the loud pelting of rain and the whistling of the wind with the scraping sound of tree branches against the tin-like roof.

eddie’s mad that you drove in the middle of a storm, but let’s you in either way. you don’t tell him why you came, but eddie seems to understand when you both lay down, tangled in each other and let the loud beating of rain fill out the silence of his room. eddie can physically feel your body relax into his and he immediately knows—- he gets it because he’s the same way. it barely takes 5 minutes before you’re both knocked out and snoring.

eddie definitely teases you about it at the table the next morning, makes a joke that “you should just move in at this rate,” but wayne quickly shuts that down, “save up and move in next door, kids, i don’t need to see anymore than i’ve already seen.”

I think one of the reasons why the theory that Arya will go away at the end of the story because she’s too far gone to assimilate back into society is so unconvincing is because she literally spends the latest two books (AFFC and ADWD) doing that very thing! Like her training hasn’t been about her being a reclusive murderous hermit. She literally spends the two books talking to people, making friends, integrating into new cultures. She’s around people all the damn time! And even if we bring up her ACOK and ASOS arcs which were rather dark in nature, she’s still around people interacting with them, still being a part of society (even if she’s quite low on the totem pole in those books).

Arya is a character who feels so strongly and whose arc is often dictated by how she interacts with the people around her. So to take that away from her is not only a bad understanding of her character arc (not to be condescending or anything), but it’s also not very satisfying as far as character/narrative progression goes. Because if the narrative has proven so far that even in her darkest moments, Arya can laugh and love and be such a passionate member of society, how then does it make sense for her to go away and be on her own?? How does that make sense when AFFC and ADWD prove that she still loves being around people?

#I cannot think of a single instance where Arya going away because she’s too far gone #And can’t do ✨ society ✨ anymore makes sense from a character development point of view #Had her story arc been her gradually choosing to not be around people anymore then ok maybe yeah #If she spent ADWD waxing about how she just wants to live in a cave because ✨ society sucks ✨ #Then sure whatever #But her arc has been about her surrounding herself with people even when her identity and safety are taken away from her??! #She goes to Braavos…..and then spends months on end talking to people and hearing their stories #And she says she loves it! #Or did people conveniently forget that part when she says she loves spending time listening to people’s experiences? #She constantly thinks about how she loves her family and home #So how does it make sense to have her go away on her own when her arc has been the opposite?? #Someone pls explain idgi #looking at you Reddit btw #y’all continue to just suck donkey balls #arya stark #asoiaf #my rant I gues…

Thinking about how when I was in middle school I thought I was the most original person in the world for coming up with the idea of cave elves in some intense political fantasy story I was writing only to find out that I did not in fact come up with the concept of cave elves and the high political drama of elves bring displaced and crammed into cities and discriminated against was literally exactly the setup of dragon age origins

#i was soooooooo mad when i played dao the first time bc i was like FUCK MY IDEA ISNT ORIGINAL ANYMORE #my world was basically dragon age but closer to the industrial revolution and with cave elves instead of regular elves #they were displaced from the caves they lived in because the surrounding cities wanted to mine for raw materials bc of the new high need for #metals due to the changing technology #so after displacing the elves they then hired all the elves as extremely underpaid and exploited miners #my story took place one generation later so now theres a bunch of cave elves who were born in the city and their perceptions of home are #different from their parents bc theyve only ever known the caves as a source of money and also torment #but thats all just the backdrop for the actual story that would be taking place which was all about learning to trust and finding a personal #identity once you heal from your traumas

I think it's hilarious how Suzanne Collins has such vibrant, deep characters but we only get useful descriptions of some of them. Like, we know every inch of Ripred, it's clear that she knew excatly what that dreamy beast was supposed to look like, but there's absolutely no consensus on the bats, especially Ares. My writers' group and I have been trying desperately to figure out just how big the bats are, but there's not a lot to go off of. Their carrying capacity is important for all the logistics, but weather they can carry a whole boat or just three kids and a cockroach is always up in the air. It doesn't help that Ares, the one we get to see the most of, is just legendarily jacked. He can carry a whole ass Ripred (who again, we have clear descriptions of, he's six feet tall and jacked to hell and back as well). So okay, got it, the bats are huge as well, but then we get all these descriptions of them just vibing in enclosed spaces, and when Ares gets arrested it only takes two people to carry him to trial. Are the Regalians just also incredibly jacked? How many body builders are there down here? We also just never get to know what kind of bat Ares (or any of the other fliers for that matter) is. It really is just left up to the artist's interpretation. There's cover art of him as a microbat, a flying fox, some weird amalgamation of both... there are no wrong answers. I love seeing all the fanart here because we can't agree either so we just get a big buffet of different beautiful bats to look at.

The only concrete bat descriptions we get are that they all have bright, vibrant, and diverse warrior-cats OC pelts. You got your adorable tabby bats, your zebra bats, evil red bats, and edgy loner black bats.

#Well we do get one piece of concrete description. At one point she says the bats have tails which makes a good case for them being some kind #of microbat (and I mean that in a purely taxinomical sense they are in fact very large lads) #Micro bats are more likely to live in caves and are more reliant on echolocation than megabats which lends credibility to this theory #but on the other hand that artwork of him looking like a dog and doing karaoke is too cute to not be cannon #Also I love how the only descriptions we get of Gregor is that he's lanky and has curly hair and his skin doesn't look like an underlander #I love all the interpretations of gregor and his family that this micro community has made.
