When I started watching Queen Charlotte and found out that she had 13 kids I was like holy shit, why so many? But after finishing the show, it was evident that it was in an effort to continue the bloodline but I also feel like it was so that all the pressure wouldn’t just fall on one child’s shoulder, the way it did with George.

George never wanted to be king, he just wanted a simple life where he could spend his days in an observatory and farming. But he was also someone who wouldn’t push back, even felt like he couldn’t so he bore the weight of it all for the sake of his mother and for the sake of the country.

And I think it’s safe to say, it’s these moments of pressure, where it becomes evident and heavy on him, that’s when he spirals into another world - he’s escaping into a new reality. The first time we see it happen on screen is when he learns of Charlotte’s arrival. She’s already coming from a long way and it’s a done deal, no room for argument.

On the day of his wedding when he overhears that his bride-to-be was a runaway bride, the pressure built, once again, everything was at risk and it was because of him.The anxiety builds, on the verge of turning into a full-blown panic attack and he can feel himself fading away under the weight of it all. That’s when he seeks out the doctor and is snapped back to the present. Charlotte’s presence further solidifies his presence in reality.

The other time we see it is when he learns that Charlotte is pregnant, which I’m sure he inherently felt happy about but in his anxiety-prone mind, he likely felt that now he was not only going to be disappointing his love, Charlotte, but their child as well.

He already feels like he’s half a man for Charlotte, less than what she deserves, I imagine it doubled with the thought of being half a father to their child. Maybe he even felt like he was dooming his child’s life before it had even begun.

It’s these instances in which George is reminded of the weight of the country, the weight of his family’s well-being, and how it all rests firmly on his shoulder and it’s his to bear alone, it being his bloodline.

I think between Charlotte and George, they decided they loved each other so much and would have as many children as she could safely carry. That way no one child of theirs carried the weight as George had to.

...and I want to weep for them. 😭 😭

COMFORTING WHISPERS

micro one shot Wolfstar. comfort/hurt. less than 300 words. possible. Tw: a description of what can be a depressive episode.

Sirius hadn’t moved in a while. His hands and legs clung to one of the fluffy pillows on their bed, eyes red and face wet from constant tears, throat dry because of all the shaky sobs. His whole body felt incapable of movement, too overwhelmed by his own thoughts, a deep sadness settling in hours ago.

Trying to muffle his sobs with the pillow, he heard the bedroom door creak open.

“Sirius?” Remus called. Sirius squinted his eyes when the light from outside hit the side of his face, closing his eyes just for a second, ignoring the constant pressure on the side of his head.

“Baby…” Remus insisted, so Sirius looked at him, eyes red and puffy. It was a silent plea, asking Remus to understand without saying a word.

“Oh, darling,” Remus whispered, coming over and touching him gently, a comforting presence that eased the wounds no one else could see. He laid down on the bed and held Sirius in his arms. Under Remus’ embrace, Sirius didn’t hold himself back anymore and let it all out.

“It's okay, love. I'm right here," Remus whispered, a promise in his words. His hands moved on Sirius's back, soft kisses on his tear-streaked cheeks. They stayed like that, nothing else needed. Remus was a steady presence, guiding Sirius through the tough parts of his mind.

When the tears stopped, Remus let go a bit. Their eyes met, like they both understood.

“It’s ok, baby, you’re safe," Remus said and with that Sirius found some momentary peace. Remus's warmth pushed away the heavy sadness of the moment.

This is the moment where Sirius understands that, no matter how broken he feels, he could always count on Remus to put the pieces back together.

i know and comprehend that depression may feel or be different for you and i hope that, in some way, you can find some comfort in this micro one shot.

i wrote this having in mind what i absolutely need (sometimes) on those times, but again, if it caused you any sort of discomfort, i am truly sorry and i really hope you can scroll away and forget about this.

Scylla sounded genuinely scared and sad on this line, and it broke my frigging heart!

The only times she's ever sounded scared before has been to, and about losing, Raelle.

But this time it's different. She's scared because this is truly terrifying (far more for her than being tortured by Anacostia or Alder, or even facing life in prison), and she's even sadder than she's ever been because this time she's sure she's about to die never seeing Raelle again and lose the life she wanted with her.

She's completely exhausted from days of being tortured, and maybe even also a little sad because the people like him just hate witches so cruelly and indiscriminately - yet STILL she stares that MF down and drops her trademark eyebrow raise sass with style!

Scylla is seriously hardcore.

She knows her love is alive and back, and that's given her courage and hope regardless of what they've put her through, and what he's about to do to her, but her voice betrays her - it doesn't even SOUND like her - and it's clear she's on the verge of being broken.

Like so you're telling me Optimus was never a chosen hero and the burden of the Matrix/leadership pained him morally, emotionally, and physically, yet he still survived 4 million years of war?

You're telling me he wasn't God's Designated Special Boy but he still tried his best to live up to that impossible ideal to the point of developing serious depression and suicidal ideation as a result of so much goddamn loneliness and self-doubt?

Optimus wasn't a "true Prime" and yet he still believed in ideals of reconciliation and ending the cycle of violence? Boimler and Chapel scene was hard to watch for me. Jess Bush once again killed it! Christine says she never assumed that she would get to influence Spock forever and she didn't want it anyway. But the truth is, she wanted everything with Spock. She was just too afraid to admit it. Aww my poor baby!😭

Btw- the theme that played in this scene is the same from 2x05 where Christine injected the serum into Spock and later Spock confessed his feelings to Chapel. So it seems that we have not 1 but 2 Spapel themes!🧡

Spock later tells Boimler that "Nurse Chapel" told him about their exchange... I'm happy that Christine told Spock. She didn't get into detail but she didn't keep it a secret. I'm glad she's honest and communicating with Spock!

Spock saying he's not gonna change his path bcoz any change based on what Boimler said would impact the future is logical. It makes sense. BUT it’s also what Spock wants to do. Logic works in his favor coz Spock doesn’t want to give up on Christine anyway! He is not gonna end things with her and suppress his feelings for her just bcoz he was supposed to be more Vulcan in the future and the books don’t mention Chapel.

And just bcoz the books don't write about Spock&Chapel, doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's happening right now. Maybe Boimler will write about them one day!

Look, Spapel might be doomed, but it's still a beautiful and tragic love story. Every episode of SNW is creating history and adding extra layers to TOS and beyond. For example, I recommend all Spapel fans to rewatch Charades and The Naked Time back to back. I did it and i was mind blown.

You being a Luke fan makes so much sense for you but I would like go know the extend of fanhood. What are your thoughts on him?

short answer: luke has never done anything ever in his entire life

long answer: my perspective is a lot wider now than when i initially read the books, i think i held a similar mentality, but i also was 12 years old and in love with him so that is biased. but i find his character fascinating, i think the fact he is 19 in the first book is fascinating (my entire life i thought he was maybe two years older than the others until i re read), i think the way his character’s story was written and how he was interlaced with the other characters could not and will never be better. that being said i do think he did a lot of things that were wrong (homeboy did commit mass murder, and like he is AN antagonist of the series), but i will never think he’s a bad guy.

i think luke being 19 and the way his story was written ALL of it makes sense, there’s true no malicious intent and that’s seen time and time again where he pauses almost (even as he’s being controlled by kronos) and is like “… but my friends” which like is just another thing that ties his similarities to percy as if they’re two paths. but back to him being 19 and mad at his dad 19 is when you age out of a lot of stuff, it’s a weird transitional period and he had to do it alone after feeling abandoned by his father (the titan headquarters being where luke got his scar and started his villain origin story>>>>> cinematic) in a place where he watched people constantly die, where his best friend died, where he was constantly in danger like that’s a lot! no wonder resentment grew! and it’s like at the end of the day like just wanted to be safe with his friends and feel seen. which i think is the main point of the first series you see it with the minor gods, you see it in the camp games (silena my absolute beloved trying to get people to take aphrodite kids seriously), you see it with the “Big Three”, you see it with rachel elizabeth dare, calypso, you see it even at percy’s first school like it’s everywhere!this concept of being seen and not just cast aside when convenient and i think luke was used as the archetypal symbol for that. and like it finally clicks for percy in the last book and he sees the point of it all and like it drove me insane while rereading but while percy gets bitter about luke and hates him and can’t stand that annabeth still feels for him i truly believe he never loses his compassion for luke and the life luke could’ve had if not for the life he did

and idk i just love him so much not for the terrible things he did but because he was literally just a kid who was fucked over by the system
