The Batfam’s Pokémon Teams

Considering that I’ve already done the Justice League’s Pokémon teams and their enemies’ Pokémon teams, I thought to might as well give the batfam their teams. But since I already did Batman on the Justice League list, he will not be on the list.

Alfred Pennyworth

Indeedee (Male)- Alfred is most famously known as Batman's Butler, so giving him a butler pokemon would be both useful and helpful.

Leavanny- His day-to-day duties as the butler of Batman, Alfred is always repairing some type of clothing for the Batfam.

Drampa- It is commonly joked around in the community that Alfred is the one person in the batfam you do no want to mess around with. Drampa are known for their kind nature that comes with a destructive outcome if enraged or needing to protect the children it cares for which reflects Alfred a great deal.

Blissey- Another representative of Alfred's caring side.

Polteagheist- He's british and likes tea.

Inteleon- Alfred has a history in the military and being one of the few batfamily members to actually utilize a gun. Him having an Inteleon seemed like a No-Brainer to me.

Many of Alfred's pokemon were chosen simply because they could be found in Galar, which is the Pokemon equivalent of England. The exception of course being Leavanny, but it is still a fitting pokemon for him to have.

Nightwing

Hitmontop- This is a reference to Dick's beginnings as an acrobat in Haley's Circus. I can see this pokemon being one of Dick's first as he was given it when it was still a tyrogue.

Marowak- Both a nod to the fact that Dick is an orphan and how he covered for Batman.

Swellow- Visually speaking, Swellow slightly resembles Nightwing, especially if we're talking about his DCAU adaptation with the Mullet/Long Hair.

Rockruff- Yes, Haley is a shiny Rockruff with one leg.

Cyclizar- This was the last pokemon I had to come up with, and so my brain suddenly reminded me of Motor Cycle Monday from Teen Titans Go. Considering that Nightwing does use a motorcycle sometimes, this makes sense for him.

Greninja- A stealthy pokemon that relates to espionage in some way. Seems fitting for Nightwing during his time with Spyral during the New 52

I wanted to pay homage to everything well-known about Dick Grayson/Nightwing. With the exception of his bubble butt, his team references his time Haley's Circus, the fact he's an orphan and became batman, being Nightwing in General, and others.

Oracle/Batgirl

Swoobat- Considering her history of being used as just a love interest and not being regarded as an actual character, Barbara having a Swoobat felt like a decent choice.

Rotom- As Oracle, Barbara can hack and mess with enemy technology like how Rotom can infiltrate different machines.

Gardevoir- The reason I gave Barbara a gardevoir is sort of an edgy reason. Gardevoir's whole thing is that they are fiercely loyal to their trainers and will protect them at all cost. Now, what happened in the Killing Joke still happens in this universe, so that means that Bab's Gardevoir couldn't protect Babs. This would lead her Gardevour to become very depressed but overall determined to help her trainer more.

Mienshao- Barbara knows martial arts

Magnezone- Barbara is one of the most well-known (Idk if she was the first) person in the chair. So, her having a pokemon that can receive signals seems useful.

Venusaur- If you saw my Legion of Doom post, then you can recall that I gave Joker Toxicroak because of his adaptation in The Batman tv series. My choice in giving Babs a Venusaur is based on her relationship with Poison Ivy in that series. Not saying thats exactly the case in my HC universe however.

While some of the choices felt off even for me, overall I'm satisfied with what I did for Batgirl's pokemon team.

Red Hood

Old Team

Primeape- Many who think of Jason as Robin remember him as being angry and very impulsive, and while that isn't entirely true, this pokemon does reflect that side of him.

Fletchinder- The evolved form of the robin pokemon to represent Jason's intimidating side.

Snicket- Jason's Post-Crisis reintroduction showed him as a car tire thief of crime alley.

Cubone- A nod to how Jason was initially just a clone of Dick Grayson (in terms of character, not a literal genetic clone) and how it was his desire for his mother's love that got him killed.

Zorua- Although reflective of Jason's older-self, Zorua's tricky nature of disguising itself to hide from others is a good way to show what Jason would end up like.

Snubbul- Another representative of Jason's personality, many see him as a tough guy, but really he's just a sweet guy with attachment issues.

New Team

Annihilape- After the accident, Jason's Primeape would evolve into Annihilape. Annihilape reflects how the lazarus pit drove Jason mad upon his own revival.

Staraptor- An edgy bird pokemon that likes to be alone it does reflect Jason's isolating tendencies whenever he gets into fights with bruce.

Alolan Marowak- Since Batman and Nightwing both have Marowak, Jason holding having his Marowak post-accident is reflective of this. While his "Alolan" Marowak only became this way due to the Lazarus Pit, it still has the reasons for becoming one. Jason also possesses spiritual abilities thanks to his resurrection, and Alolan Marowak reflects that the best.

Hiusian Zoroark- According to the lore, Zoroark came back to life out of spite. While Jason had no choice in the matter, first being resurrected by one of Superboy Prime's reality-altering punches and then having his memories return thanks to the lazarus pit, if Jason could come back to life out of spite, he would.

Doublade- A reference to the All-Blades, Jason's Doublade is a meta-pokemon that has a new move Blight Slash and a new ability called All-Good. Blight Slash is a physical steel-type move that does super effective damage on dark type pokemon. All-Good resists the effects of any dark type move.

Hydreigon- For a while before the New 52, Jason was considered a complete villain against the batfam. Hydreigon's brutish nature is meant to reflect that.

The reason why I gave Jason two teams is because the explosion that killed him would also kill some of his pokemon.

Red Robin/Robin/Drake/whatever Tim goes by now

Talonflame- Talonflame is the most visually similar to Tim's uniform as Red Robin (I'm refering to the times he uses the Black and Red costumes of course)

Farfetch'd- A reference to the time he went by the Drake

Vikavolt- Tim is often regarding as the tech wizard Robin out of the five that have taken the title. This is also a reference to how Tim "died" by a bunch of drones firing at him.

Pancham- Given that Tim has many alternate versions of himself that are evil, Pancham reflects that given that it evolves into a dark type that needs the help of another dark type to evolve.

Komala- Tim is often given this headcanon that he is constantly sleep deprived and needs coffee. And while there is no coffee pokemon, there is a pokemon that is constantly tired.

Reuniclus- The time when Tim tried to clone Superboy to bring him back.

I will admit, I struggled with Tim's team. I wanted to give him a pokemon that represented his bisexuality, but none really fit.

Spoiler/Batgirl

Clodsire- You're going to look at me and tell me that Spoiler wouldn't own a Clodsire? It has her color scheme and everything (most of her color scheme anyways)

Swoobat- Steph was first introduced as a possible love interest for Tim Drake. She

Talonflame- A reference to her time as Robin.

Pikachu- This feels like a pokemon Steph would have

Espeon- Spoiler's whole gimmick is that she investigates a villain's scheme and then spoils it to the public. Espeon's ability to predict enemy attacks helps reflect this. Also gives her a counterpart to her bff, Cassandra Cain aka Orphan/Batgirl

Goodra- Goodras are silly and affectionate, and Steph is often portrayed so as well.

Most of these pokemon were easy to come up with.

Orphan/Batgirl

Banette- Banette is the most visually similar to Cassandra's costume

Noivern- Given that Noivern is the best looking Bat pokemon (fight me), it would be dumb not to give it to the best-looking batfam member

Sneasler- Given her ninja skills, Sneasler feels like a fitting option. And if you feel that isn't a good idea since Sneasler are probably extinct in the pokemon world, how do you know they're not in the shadows?

Umbreon- a representation of both Cassandra's nightly activities as well as her character arc.

Kommo-o- A representation of her time with the league of shadows.

Most of Cassandra's pokemon are reflections of herself like the other pokemon teams.

Robin (Damian)

Alolan Meowth- A reference to Alfred the Cat, Alolan Meowth was specifically chosen because of its...demanding nature and how it takes a close bond to make it stronger (or evolve it)

Noivern- A reference to Goliath, Damian's Noivern is a meta-pokemon with red fur and scales along with an extra set of wingless arms. It has the ability "Brutal Beast" which causes moves like Outrage to do 1.5x more damage.

Miltank- A reference to batcow.

Pawniard- Being that he was raised in the league of assassins, Damian would of course own a pokemon connected to

Fletchinder- He's Robin, of course he has a Robin Pokemon.

Lucario- A reference to Titus and how Damian grew close to him.

Damian's pokemon team was pretty simple given that he has his own collection of animals from his adventures of being Robin.

Batwoman

Gliscor- While a member of the bat family, Batwoman doesn't tend to follow the rules such as no-killing and no-guns. Yes I know Jason doesn't follow this rule either but still.

Bisharp- Given her military background, a Bisharp would reflect this. It would also hold an Eviolite.

Sawk- Batwoman has lots of martial artist training

I gave Kate a smaller team as she would rely on her guns more often. Also because I struggled to come up with anything else.

Catwoman

Meowscarada- While she is no magician, Catwoman is however quite elusive. Her having a Meowscarada as both her partner and starter pokemon felt fitting.

Persian- Selina Kyle in some continuities is the daughter of Carmine Falcone "The Roman". Persian is often seen by the side of the evil Giovanni, so the addition of this pokemon to Catwoman's roster felt fitting.

Sableye- Sableye reflects Catwoman's constant thievery of jewelry and such.

Lopunny- one of Catwoman's abilities is her athletic skill and she is often sexualized, so Lopunny is fitting for her.

Initially, I was going to give Selina a bunch of cat pokemon but then I felt that was too simple. She is more than just a Cat burglar after all.

The Signal

Midday Form Lycanroc- This pokemon was chosen because it prowls during the day just like Duke does.

Kilowattrel- Matches his color scheme

Gallade- One of Signal's power's is to see a little bit into the future by refracting light.

Same problem I had with Batwoman, couldn't come up with much.

Batman (Terry McGinnis)

Crobat- This one is obvious, but its because he's da Batman! (Or in this universe, he's Zubatman)

Toxtricity- This is why

Scrafty- Because of Terry's messy life, he picked pokemon that sort of reflect that attitude.

Revavroom- In Neo Gotham City, a new species of Revavroom started to appear because of all the advanced technology. Now Steel/Electric, Neo Gotham City Revavroom races through the place as it hunts prey. It has the ability Surge Surfer to help boosts its already high speed so that foes can never gain the advantage. This choice was of course because of the flying batmobile Terry has.

Marowak- Terry lost his dad in the first episode.

Incineroar- Terry has to fight through a level of imposter syndrome in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. Incineroar reflects this through not being a fighting type but also having fighting type elements.

Do you do psychoanalyzing on other characters besides Yi Sang and Hong Lu? If so I’d like to hear you talk about Don and Faust, and why you think they share 2 egos (Telepole and Fluid Sac)

I mean! I can certainly try! Hong Lu and Yi Sang are just. I guess my field of expertise??? Since I care the most about those two??? But I can certainly try to analyze some other characters, though it might not be able to be as specific and detailed as I am when analyzing my favorites. Hope you understand!

Now then. Let's do this. Under cut we go as usual.

Fluid Sac

Let's start with the one we know less about, aka Headless Ichthys. In fact, we know... very, very little about Headless Ichthys.

Due to Meursault being the one to write the logs about this abnormality, we only get information on its physical characteristics, such as it having lost its head, and that there's something inside its sack that is said to bear resemblence to either a flower or a human nervous system.

That's it. That's all the definitive info we have on this abnormality. We can assume that it has Some religious significance due to its name, Ichthys, being the name of a religious fish symbol, but that doesn't help too much.

There is something interesting I want to note here, and that's the thing inside its sack. The fact that it's unclear whether it resembles a flower or a human nervous system is interesting... Because that mimics what Lunacy looks like. While Lunacy is described as rose-shaped by its Inventory description, the full Lunacy icon can also be interpreted as a brain on a brainstem.

I suppose, if you wanted to dig deep enough, the implications of it containing a symbol akin to Lunacy and having lost its head could could be interpreted as the abnormality being a symbol of a descent into madness. Which, honestly, that's the best I got from what little we have.

Because of just how little lore we have on the Headless Ichthys, unfortunately I can't go too in depth on Don and Faust with it in mind... But I'll still try.

Fluid Sac is a Gloom E.G.O, and though Gloom is one of those Sins I'm not entirely sure of, it does seem to represent taking actions due to one's built up negative emotions.

The main base E.G.O examples we have are Snagharpoon, which has Ishmael follow her compulsion to keep searching for "That bastard", and Land of Illusion, which implies that Hong Lu retreats from reality into his own dream world under heavy emotional stress.

As such, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Fluid Sac signifies something that caused horrible emotional stress to both Don and Faust, which would then kickstart their descent into madness. In more specific terms, this would be heroic delusions for Don and single-minded mad scientist-esque pursuit of knowledge for Faust.

As a brief sidenote, this would align quite well with the visual design differences between the two. Though the E.G.O outfits they wear are extremely similar, all the way down to both of them having green tints in their hair and fin decorations in the exact same spots, there are two notable differences.

One - the shape of the weapon. Don's weapon is shaped like a miniature Headless Ichthys clutching onto a perfectly round sack-orb. It looks almost more like a toy rather than a weapon. Faust's weapon is not only shaped almost perfectly like Headless Ichthys's sack, it also seems to have the same properties, as it bursts during Faust's Awakening attack animation.

Two - the article of clothing that mimics the Ichthys's hand-flippers. For Don, it's a cape-like piece of clothing that looks more like something you'd see on a kid's hero costume. For Faust, it's seemingly anatomically-correct recreations of the flippers that are attached to her jacket.

Both of those I think reinforce the idea of Don and Faust indulging in their methods of madness. Child-like obsession with heroism for Don (using toys and costumes), and endless scientific pursuits for Faust (only someone studying the abnormality closely could replicate its anatomy in this much detail).

It's a bit hard to tell anything from their dialogue lines as they are somewhat generic (my unrelated theory on that is that Fluid Sac is one of the first E.G.Os designed, based on its dialogue lines not having much to do with its abnormality, and due to its attack animations being uncharacteristically sparse in actual frame-to-frame animation), but they do seem to work as good reflections of Don and Faust in general.

Their Awakening lines seem to reflect their general attitudes, with Don's being jovial yet quick to resort to violence, and Faust's being self-assured and seemingly trying to predict all outcomes.

Their Corroded lines on the other hand could be a reflection of their attitudes after their descent into madness began. Don's single-minded "...Crush them." could be a reflection of how she views morality as black and white, and thus believes all that she considers 'villains' should be crushed by her. Likewise, Faust's line here implies that she's willing to do anything, even leave herself completely empty by 'disgorging everything', if it means she reaches what she's looking for.

Looking at the Sin Resources, both Faust and Don require Gloom and Lust to use Fluid Sac, and while Don also uses Pride, Faust uses Envy instead.

I already mentioned what I think Gloom means for Fluid Sac, and I think it being a requirement further reinforces it here. Both Don and Faust need to be acting under severe emotional stress to start their descent into madness.

Lust as a sin seems to represent acting according to one's desires, or more specifically, indulging in them. It also tends to have slight spiritual connotations in Limbus, making it the Sin of acting for the sake of some form of personal fulfillment as well.

Using it for Fluid Sac would make sense with the descent into madness interpretation. For both Don and Faust, their forms of madness are them overindulging in something they find personally fulfilling - heroism for Don, science for Faust.

Don's unique Sin requirement here is Pride. I already went into detail on what Pride as a Sin means in Limbus in the Dimension Shredder post, but to recap, Pride represents actions taken for their personal benefits, while ignoring their negative consequences on either other people or oneself.

This very much represents Don's madness quite well. Her heroic acts are rooted in what she personally perceives as doing good, and she completely ignores the collateral damage that she may cause in the process. Her willful ignorance of the harm she inflicts on others is one of the main things that led her to her personal form of madness.

Faust's unique Sin requirement here is Envy. Now, I won't go into detail on Envy just yet, as it's better saved for Telepole, but in very basic summary, it represents actions done in reaction to other people and their actions.

While there is still much we don't know about Faust, the inclusion of Envy as a requirement for her Fluid Sac implies that the root of her madness actually comes from someone else. There's not enough info for us to speculate on more details... but something tells me this might have to do with a certain Faustian Bargain, if you catch my drift.

So, that's Fluid Sac! For something with so little to dissect, it ended up leading to quite a good bit of analysis anyway! Call me Game Theory cause I'm about to put MatPat out of a job.

Telepole

Alright, let's once again start with the abnormality itself - Alleyway Watchdog.

The funny thing is that the Watchdog has the opposite problem to the Ichthys, as while the fish had very little lore, the Watchdog has a decent amount, but it's written by Yi Sang and as such it's hard to tell how much of its logs are facts, and how much is Yi Sang being Yi Sang and projecting onto the dog.

If there is one thing that is a definitive fact, it's that lack of being able to control oneself and being unable to tell who is controlling who is a recurring theme for this abnormality. The fact that it's unclear if the dog is in control of its own actions calls back to it, and the further muddling of what actually is in control of it only further adds to that theme.

It's unclear if the charred person on its back is controlling the dog, or if it's simply along for the ride unable to do anything to stop it, or if it is also under the control of something else. It's unclear if electricity is what is directly controlling the dog, or if it's something Yi Sang is projecting onto it due to his own experiences.

With that in mind, let's look at the three Sinners who have this E.G.O - Don, Faust, and Heathcliff. Now, I won't be looking at Heathcliff's case too closely, since this is meant to focus on Don and Faust, but I will be bringing him up when talking about Telepole on a general level, so that we have the biggest sample size possible.

In this case, having the Telepole E.G.O would imply these three have some issues when it comes to control, whether it's they themselves lacked control in their life, or whether it's their own degree of perceived control isn't as it seems. Since neither of those three have had their Cantos released yet, it's impossible for me to tell what exactly is going on here, but this is something to keep in mind.

Now, let's talk about Envy, as that's the Sin damage that all of the Telepoles deal. Envy appears to represent actions one takes as a reaction to what others do. This can take any form, whether it's revenge or following orders or being provoked or anything really. What's important here is that the action taken is a Direct Response to someone else.

The only base E.G.O that deals Envy damage is Heathcliff's Bodysack, which represents his impulsive and likely violent reaction to whatever Cathy did to him.

This all fits very nicely with the nature of Alleyway Watchdog, and Telepole E.G.O as a whole. The Watchdog's actions are all reactions to something else controlling it. Likewise, those using the Telepole E.G.O have their actions be influenced or even controlled by someone else.

Their Awakening lines (since there's nothing to analyze when it comes to their Corroded howls I don't think) all reflect a certain part of their personality, potentially implying that something about that is due to the influence of someone else.

Heathcliff's line expresses his impulsively violent tendencies, Don's ties back to her blind heroism, and Faust's has a clinical, detached feel to it.

As for Sin Resources, both Faust and Heathcliff use Envy, Wrath, and Lust, while Don exchanges Lust for Gloom.

Envy as a Sin Resource here once again ties back to the themes of control, implying that for all three, the actions they take are not entirely Just their own. Whether it's provokation or suggestion or something else, for all three of them, their actions are being encouraged, if not directly controlled, by someone else entirely.

Wrath is... hard to analyze. Partially because on first glance it seems to act as a shorthand for fire damage, and partially because no base E.G.O deals Wrath damage. My best guess based on other E.G.Os is that Wrath represents actions done out of self-righteousness. It's the "I deserve to do this, I DARE to do this." of Sins, in my opinion.

It's not necessarily tied to literal anger, as its name might imply, but rather a deeper reason that usually leads to anger - that being the idea that something should or shouldn't happen simply because you wish it so. After all, the most common reason for anger is for something to not go your way. Think children throwing tantrums over their toy being taken away, or a gamer smashing their keyboard over getting outplayed.

With all that being said, Wrath being used for Telepole could have several meanings. It could represent defiance, the idea that the Sinners act out because they believe they deserve better than the person trying to control them. It could also represent temptation, falling under someone else's control or provokation due to believing that they deserve something they don't have or to do something they can't without falling for it.

Now onto the more unique Sin resource requirements. Faust and Heathcliff both require Lust, a Sin representing indulging one's desires and seeking personal fulfillment. This would fit both Heathcliff and Faust, as their Telepoles seem to allude to the things they are already impulsive about - mindless violence for Heathcliff, and pursuit of knowledge for Faust. The actions they are being controlled or provoked to do are things they already wish to indulge in. Perhaps in their case, they are specifically being tempted into doing something, rather than being directly forced.

This however, is different for Don. Don's Telepole requires Gloom, which is a Sin representing actions done out of succumbing to negative emotions. This paints the actions she's controlled or provoked into comitting in a different light. Unlike Heathcliff or Faust, she isn't being tempted by personal fulfillment. No, in her case it's an expression of emotional stress. Perhaps in her case the control is much more forceful, causing her to act out, or perhaps her actions are a reaction to something bad happening to someone she knows. Either way, it's quite intriguing to note.

Unlike my Fluid Sac analysis, which I could get a little bit more detailed on thanks to touching on a facet of Don and Faust's personalities that are clearly evident, Telepole seems to more so reference their pasts, something that as of right now we simply have no access to.

I expect reaching Heathcliff's Canto will help a ton in this specific case, as it will help analyze the rest of the Telepoles thanks to being able to compare what it seems to reference in his revealed past to potentially similar events in both Don and Faust's pasts.

OKAY I finally found the original post about Angela being Jane Ives and an alternate timeline El so I'm gonna link it here then go over some key points on both sides!

most of the against points are based on the original post by the lovely @/henrysglock, who is definitely the reason I'm considering every angle on this! but a couple are just me.

AGAINST:

Angela doesn't have any specific references to timelines, clocks, alternate universes, etc. tied with her that I know of except that she wears a watch, like so many characters do anyways. honestly the fact Angela isn't coated to hell and back in multiverse imagery should count as line, three reasons, because everyone ends relevant is SO heavily coded.

Yes the watch is her inverse version of the timememoryfuckery Sara hairband, but this could simply be to indicate the presence of timememoryfuckery with Sara in the first place.

There are other things her presence could narratively suggest, including foreshadowing for mothergate via Sleepaway Camp [I hope I got that right?] [Side note the fact Edward and El BOTH had to pretend to be someone and that fakeness is represented by Angela for them both is sO juicy]

Literally what is she doing in California if she's a number???

Does she have psionic sensitivity passed down from Terry and if so how did she not recognize El for what she is? (and vice versa- though that can be explained by El's lack of powers)

The reason El and Angela have visual parallels is because El was copying Angela, and the reason they're opposites is because El can never truly become normal like Angela or her Jane persona.

It is very clear that El is not Jane/ El is not the birth daughter of Terry Ives, there's already other posts on this.

the watch is her version of El's hair band from Hopper that belonged to Sara- and isn't there a shitton of timeline/memory fuckery there?

There's little backstory for Angela. it's very clear there is something she is afraid of/something going on that motivates her, but what is it?

^^even for a similar one-season character, Troy, we actually see his mother and learn that he is afraid of losing face and disappointing her or being a victim of bullying

She parallels 002 visually, not exactly a point for or against, but sus as fuck.

Her behavior also resembles 002. She wants to scapegoat El and be the teachers favorite kid just like 002- but what is Angela afraid of? Where did she learn this behavior? every other antagonist has a very clear reason for acting like they do EXCEPT HER. We don't even know who called the police on El for her!

Visual parallels between El and Angela, but Angela is the opposite version because she's from a different timeline!

Why make Angela's outfits parallel Karen and Virginia of she isn't a Creel? [based on the Karen is Virginia theory via @/aemiron-main]

Angela is fixated on Hopper, which I just personally think is giving lab-kid.

Her name is ANGELA for fuck's sake!! Angels in ST have a positive connotation, with Mike being banned after one, with Max singing about one to El (foreshadowing El helping her live) and Victor saying an angel saved him, so WHY would Angela be named that unless there's more to find out? The whole point of having multiple versions of Henry/Edward is the themes of how a similarly situated person can become a totally different person based on circumstance, how the world/the pressures of society wants to squash people, and those stresses turn out different people, rather than them inherently being one thing from the get-go. in the case of Henward, every version of them has thus been shrouded in mystery, but Angela is super clearly there existing so the show could use her as a very clear/consise easy of initially delivering that theme along with peeling back several hundred layers of henward bullshit. what could hammer home the "nobody is inherently evil or fundamentally good" theme than showing everyone a universally hated girlbitch with a kill count of zero and a rage-and-sorrow filled mostergirl with the soul of a puppy and the personality of a saint and forcing them both to face how similar they really are? I phrased this super badly but basically they're built to prove a point and it would be so badass if the writers pulled this off.

I honestly give this theory a 50/50 chance since it isn't a specific plotline or lore, but rather a possibility within a likely lore theory, if that makes sense. Like if ANY variation of Angela being Terry's daughter or a lab kid or an alt El or anything similar would count to me, I'm just looking at many possibilities that I think coexist. The one thing I know for sure is that she's more important than she's letting on, so more than anything I'm open to the theory changing if I find out another compelling reason why Angela is important. I am super curious because I think her and El's relationship as foils is sO fascinating as well as having more potential.

Voiceplay Visuals: Little Mermaid Medley

I already knew right from the start that this was going to be a long post, but how am I only just now realizing that the video itself is like nearly 8 minutes long? Like I knew the Wicked Medley was one of Voiceplay's longer-length videos, but somehow I never realised that this video is in fact longer by 10 seconds! (I guess it's just so good that I never noticed!) God I hope I don't hit the picture limit on this one, because I have a lot to talk about, so let's begin!

Bit of a far cry from the Moana Medley 3 years prior, hey? (This was released in September 2020 btw). I may be wrong, but I believe this is called "we have a bigger budget now" 😂

Right, so Eli (already doing a subtle Eyebrow Raise, might I add), is dressed as Flounder, Rachel is of course Ariel, J is repping Sebastian, Layne is Chef Louis (I think that's his name), and Geoff went freaking all-out as Ursula (aka "Geoffsula"). The hair! The necklace! The airbrushing on the skin! (Seriously that ain't just a standard layer of face/body paint, there is shading going on there!)

(Also what's up with the green wristbands which I've never really acknowledged till now?)

The colouration/tint of the lighting does really interesting things to Geoff's blueish skin colour in this video. In some shots the skin is a really vibrant colour (e.g. see a couple of the shots above), whereas in others, like this one ^ here, it almost looks close to regular skin tone.

This little moment greatly pleases my drama/theatre kid heart 😁

Firstly, Rachel's acting is 100% on-point, and second of all, I love Geoff's evil smirk here, doubly confirming that Rachel is being Vanessa, aka Ursula in disguise!

And now that "Ariel" has got her voice back, everyone else is super happy/animated, while "Ursula" is very subdued. Visual storytelling!

It's hard for me to say whether this is one of Voiceplay's best medleys or not, because how can you compare it to the Boy Band Medley or Trapped or A Chance To Fly? But I will say it is very deserving of the 5.5 million views it currently sits at on YouTube. A lot of effort went into both the arrangement and the video (well done Layne!), and honestly when it comes to Disney stuff, Voiceplay never fails!

SPOILERS FOR PUSS IN BOOTS THE LAST WISH!!!

I'm putting this here cause there's no way I'm putting this on twt(again...twt had nuff of my bullshit) or anything but I consider this a rant just because I can't, won't and do not want to spoil my friends about the movie but I'm too fixated on how well constructed it was.

First off, I was watching the first few scenes and oh my god. They brought in so many memorable takes from the first one which was so sweet!

My favorite was the "Ooh" cat popping up in the cat shelter.

I just realized that the sleeping giant seemed to be an example to amplify how big of a threat death was. The sleeping giant was a possible ploy, as it poses a great threat to the lands. However, Pib is met with someone who's able to fit in the same room as him. Someone that resembles himself, someone he couldn't possibly be, because it's someone we'll always end up meeting in the end, staring at it. It stares at us with its red beady eyes. Death himself.

The design for death. man. Man.

The scene where Pib(Puss in Boots) felt genuine fear from bleeding from his head. The red piercing eyes and the fucking strength he shows. From first glance I kinda knew he was death already, since his presence alone said a lot. I love how you don't even need so much to tell the audience what a character is meant to be perceived as. Giving them a few lines, visuals and subtle movements and cues are enough for the audience to pick up on it.

And of course, who could forget the portrayal of panic attacks. That one gets one of the stars for me. I love how they framed it as something that basically gets you in a way where you feel like you need to leave. You have to escape. You have to survive and live.

Each scene of the panic attacks occurring played important roles that constantly concern Pib and the viewers. We first become aware of the threat, how we know this threat could appear at any time. Now that–that's terrifying to think about. Which is true, death can come for us at any time which we least expect, which I really like how they were able to represent that as well.

The scene where Pib was worried about someone coming for him, aka Death, where he stares at the front door and sees a snout sniffing near it. I knew it couldn't be death at his door since it was well established that he was being hunted by the Goldi and the Three Bears. I like the detail where he's literally concerned that he constantly has to keep his eyes peeled twice now for something that's larger than life.

The first of the main characters that were introduced were Goldilocks and the three bears. First thing I thought, "she's hiding something isn't she. Oh she wants the wish, oh she wants to find her family again doesn't she?"

Then the second one was Perrito, love that lil guy. This dude breaks my heart honestly. I mean. Fuck man, something this innocent (well partly) gets hurt in every way and still does his best to forgive... I honestly like how he was introduced to Pib just cause they have contrasting personalities. I love how he's determined to be a therapy dog one day! Aaaaahhh

And then the third was Jack horner, yeah no. I got nothing else to say other than the fact that he looks like the guy from the lorax with dyed hair and power hungry issues. No need for me to predict shit at all. I hate that guy and his Mary Poppins, Doraemon ass bag. (They made a good villain, good job, I hate him👍)

And then the last if I'm not mistaken was Kitty Softpaws, so glad she was back around. But oof, damn exes unite huh. Thought about her wishing she could trust someone from the get-go. Of course, she was wishing for Pib, obviously.

I was honestly thinking throughout the movie, like what's the point? Right? You have one wish, but you have these people around you already. What could be so great that could potentially be a wish come true to them?

Except there was me hoping that Pib would at least get his lives back MAN. I WAS SOBBING.

To be fair, some areas were predictable where others weren't but I don't care. I loved it. I loved the hell out of it. I don't care about the cliche. I care about the story telling. What I could not predict was QUALITY AND WHOLE. And oh my goodness, don't get me started on that, the DESIGNS THE LIGHTING THE ANIMATION, THE FIGHT SCENES WERE SO WELL MADE SO WAS THE MUSIC ACCOMPANYING THE SCENES HEEEELL YEEEEEEAH.

THEY DELIVERED A CONCEPT THAT WORKED SO DAMN GOOOOOD!!

In the scene where the characters stood for the corners of the fucking star my god that was so smart. I was like "THEY PLANNED THIS ALL WAY TOO INTRICATELY I LOVE HOW EVERYTHING CONNECTS!"

I really like how the scenes weren't common. Like the fight scenes and everything. Where they take place and what kinds of combat could be possible with the equipment they're available with. I always love those kinds of combat.

We got like two found families except the other guy was just thirsty for world domination I guess. Yes I am insulting you, jack horner. Edna mode would kick your ass tbh. (Sorry I'm salty, I hate him, he was mean to Mr. Grasshopper cricket thing who I assume we might see again so that he gets united with Pinocchio, cause that was the first thing I thought)

The references are pretty good too. The jokes, the one liners were fantastic. I love how some of the humor transcends old style humor and some of the common ones today.

I was sobbing for almost the entire film cause of how well written and made it was. Jeez.

Wait, I think I've already done this before...huh deja vu.

I know this is kinda random but how did you find Leon's and Cassie's faceclaim? Like what inspired you to find the ones you did? I've been trying to do one for my Hartbreak Associates ocs for edits but I just haven't been able to and you're the only mutual I have who does it like perfectly so I was just curious (I love the stories with Leon btw they are just mwah)

And well thank you for the love, I also love Leon's stories because I love writing Leon.

I also have a fanfic I'm making about hbtaker kids meeting hartbreak kids from another universe so I do actually need to find faceclaims for them.

But I always knew who I wanted as Cassies faceclaim from the moment I saw Jessica Chastain. Its all about who you want your oc to look like. Like I wanted cassie to look more like Undertaker than Shawn and Jessica has the traits I wanted most, beautiful red hair, pale skin and she also has a similar nose to taker, which was one of the selling points for me. The only thing I modified about her image was she has green eyes and freckles. It's a important note that I don't use her voice as cassies voice claim, I actually use Brianne Howey's Georgia Miller voice. And for kid cassie I use Sadie sink because well, max is exactly how I imagine cassie as a kid. She has the attitude and the fashion.

Leon was a bit different because his face claim used to be Evan Peters and I changed it to Jensen Ackles. I always had jensen in mind because, well he's exactly how I pictured Leon to sound and look. However, I decided to go with Evan because of American horror story because of the fact Tate had skeleton makeup and well that was Leon's main appearance for the longest time. His selling point was no one has seen his bare face for years. But then I thought about it and decided that one, he isn't how I truly pictured Leon and two, I shouldn't pick just because it was convent for what I was going for. Also I watched big sky and cowboy Jensen took over. Beau was everything I pictured old Leon to look like whilst Dean fit young Leon. It's important to note that for Leon I wanted him to be the new visual of the family. Shawn was obviously the pretty boy and I wanted Leon to take it over. And well Jensen Ackles is a beautiful man, always has been, always will be. He also doesn't seem to age, just grow a beard and stuff. Which fits our unaging Lee. I did also make modifications aswell, Leon is known for his blue and green eyes, making the green eye the only part of his dad taker his only physical quality from his dad. And well his famous scar across the good old face. He's kid faceclaim is Jackson Robert Scott from the film the Prodigy. Because of the eyes and the whole...vibe he gives. Along with his cool skeleton outfit. And well his voice claim is jensens voice. It always has been.

So with that ramble over and done with, my advice for you would be, think about what you want your oc to look like and to sound like. Think about their attitude, your faceclaim doesn't have to represent that but like I mentioned for cassies kid faceclaim being Sadie, it does help you invision it better. Also think about their parents and what features you want them to take from them. Like cassie has takers nose, hair and skin. And well eyes but jessica doesn't. And Leon has shawns skin, hair and eyes, along with his jaw.

Also if your oc is based off a character you can pick someone who's often fancasted for that character or if it's a character that already has a actor you can use them aswell. There's no problem with that at all.

I find it difficult to explain my thought process especially over writing but I'm hoping my idea is coming through.

Also the vibe and atmosphere can help. If that actor gives off the vibe and atmosphere you want for your character, use them.

I'm happy to help if you have more questions or want my opinion on anything.

It could have been a great day, a perfect day. A trip to Plymouth, a major task your boss entrusted you with, a really important article you were about to write for the lifestyle and culture ressort you'd joined only a few weeks ago as deputy editor. If only it hadn't been exactly this day, the day of your five years anniversary with your beloved husband.

You leaned back in your seat with a sigh, closing your eyes, the rattling sound of the train that was taking you to Devon soothing your nerves a little.

Henry had been nothing but understanding when you told him you would be away for your anniversary. He had been disappointed for sure, you were easily able to tell by the look in his eyes, but he was the most supportive partner you could ever imagine and so he was genuinely happy for you that you were given this great opportunity.

"It's going to be fun, darling. You'll spend a whole day in a theme park and get paid for it," he had said with a grin. "We can celebrate our anniversary the next day, it's not a problem."

Of course he was right, it was no big deal, whether you had a romantic anniversary dinner today or tomorrow made no real difference, but you couldn't help the feeling of missing something tonight.

You shook your head, scolding yourself for being so unprofessional and ungrateful. Get your act together, you thought and that's what you did. You did your job and it turned out soon that Henry was right, it was a fun day.

The theme park that was about to be opened the following weekend, was called Nostalgia and it was really great. Old-fashioned and high-tech at the same time, the magic of the-good-old-days combined with the thrill of modern rides. You and the other journalists who got invited to the exclusive pre-opening had such a good time, trying all the fairground attractions -the rollercoasters, tilt-a-whirls, a log flume, a beautiful vintage horse-carousel, different chairoplanes and a more funny than spooky ghost train. You watched some shows, from stunt action to musical performances, and enjoyed some delicious treats at the candy booths. The only downer was the fact that the huge, historic ferris-wheel hadn't been opened yet. It was so beautiful, a real eyecatcher, being the geographical center of the park as well as the visual highlight.

When you and your colleagues were waiting for the shuttle busses to bring you back to the train station at the end of this exciting day, you were already busy with writing the article in your head. Unfortunately you were interrupted, when the park director approached you, glancing at your name badge.

"Mrs Cavill, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you please accompany me?"

You looked at him with a frown.

"Is something wrong?"

"Nothing to worry about, just a tiny problem with your accreditation. A formality. We just need you to sign some paperwork, so if you'd follow me to my office…?"

"But the bus," you said in a weak attempt to avoid any complications.

"There's plenty of time," the man answered with a friendly smile. "Please." He gestured to you to follow him and you gave in with a sigh.

When the ferris wheel came into sight you stared at it in amazement. It was beautifully illuminated by thousands of little lights that created a very romantic atmosphere, and to your big surprise it was even slowly turning.

"I thought the ferris wheel hadn't been opened yet?"

The director turned to you with a conspiratorial smile.

"Well, we may have given a special permit to someone to use it exclusively tonight."

"Really?" You were confused by his words and he grinned, pointing at something. When your gaze followed the direction of his gesture you gasped, covering your mouth with your hands. Henry was standing by the entrance of the ferris wheel, wearing a tuxedo, his hair neatly done, his blue eyes shining bright, smiling lovingly at you.

It took you some seconds to recover from this welcome shock, but when you were able to breathe and think again, you started to run straight into the arms of your beloved husband. He hugged you tightly, lifting you off the ground with ease, before putting you down again to press a sweet kiss on your brown hair.

"Happy anniversary, darling."

His whispered words that resonated softly in your ear, sent pleasant shivers down your spine. You looked up, getting on your tiptoes to kiss him. Your lips met and the kiss was brief but deep and passionate, your tongues tasting desire and anticipation in each other's mouths.

"Happy anniversary, baby", you answered with an ecstatic smile, still equally surprised and confused, "but what are you doing here?"

"Whisking you away for a ride on the big wheel, of course," he said with a grin and you couldn't help but laugh out loud with happiness and excitement.

"How the heck did you manage to do that?" You hugged him, snuggling up against his broad chest, inhaling his scent that was so fresh and tangy. Henry wrapped his arms around your petite body, making you feel safe and sound.

"That has to remain my little secret, darling," he smirked and you chuckled at his attempt to wink at you.

"So hop on, my lady."

Henry bowed down before you, gesturing expansively in the direction of the gondola, being the dorky guy he just was and who you loved so much.

When you entered the little cab you were truly amazed. It was furnished with two upholstered benches and a small table, but what made your heart skip a beat and your eyes go wide was the fact that it was decorated with so much loving care. There was an elegant white cloth on the table, candles that illuminated the tiny space, crystal champagne flutes and a huge bottle of Moët & Chandon, strawberries, filled chocolates and the little truffles you liked so much.

You sat down and Henry took the seat beside you, wrapping his arm around your shoulder to pull you close.

"This is incredible, baby. Such a great surprise," you told him with a grateful smile, visibly touched.

"I'm glad you like it, baby girl."

He kissed you and you laughed out loud in unison, when the wheel started moving, causing the gondola to rock slowly, making you and Henry bump into each other.

Besides the jerky start the ride was very smooth and the wheel kept on turning slowly while you and Henry enjoyed the fantastic few over the park, the delicious treats and the sparkling champagne, cuddled up to each other, sharing uncountable loving glances and kisses.

Just when you thought the night couldn't get any better, the cab stopped at the peak and music started to play softly from invisible speakers. You realized immediately that it was Secret Garden by Bruce Springsteen. Your song. The song he had kissed you to for the first time. The song you had danced to on your wedding day, surrounded by your families and friends but still feeling like being the only two people on the planet. The song you had made love to so many times.

You beamed at your husband, unable to say anything, tears welling up in your blue eyes, Henry loved so much. You cupped his face with your small hands and kissed him tenderly, your lips expressing your happiness and gratitude better than a thousand words could have. After making out for a while, completely lost in the moment, Henry pulled away, leaving you breathless and aroused. He raked something out of his pocket and placed it on the table right in front of you, covering it with his hand.

"What's that?" You wanted to know. "Another surprise?"

"An additional one," he grinned, lifting his arm, revealing a plastic card.

"Is that a key card?"

"It is," Henry nodded. "The key to an exclusive suite in the best hotel in town. We'll go there tonight and we won't leave it all weekend."

"Really?" You teased him with a cheeky smile. "What are we going to do in there all this time?"

"I'll show you," he said with a smirk, slipping his hand under your skirt, sounding the bell for the smuttiest weekend you'd ever experienced.

Ml Theory: Origins of Emilies name and Mayuras design

While looking up the real life equivalent of Emilies portrait and its artist I came across something that is just WAY too good to be a mere coincidence.

As many fans know already Emilies golden portrait is in real life the painting “Adele Bloch-Bauer I” by Gustav Klimt from 1907.

Its to this day the painting sold for the highest price EVER, making it a fitting portrait to visualize Gabriels love for Emilie I always thought. But there is quite more background information with potential to be important.

Back before we were given Emilies name in “Gorizilla” Adele was a very common name for her in the fandom because of the original golden Lady, Adele. Funnily enough, the idea that Emilies name is connected to her portrait has quite likely never been a wrong assumption in the first place. We just never went deep enough to find her actual name or a couple of other similarities for not only her but for Natalie as well.

Because as the names might have already given it away, Adele Bloch-Bauer and Gustav Klimt were not husband and wife. Adele was married to someone else and Gustav never married at all. So while this painting is one of Gustavs most well known and one of the most valuable paintings in the world, the lady in the painting wasn’t his wife/lover and therefore Emilies name also isn’t Adele.

But just because Gustav Klimt wasn’t married doesn’t it mean that there wasn’t a very special woman in his life, one he was incredibly close with.

So may I present to you:

Emilie Flöge

Right away its obvious that both painting were done in the same eye catching style, but I’m getting ahead of myself.

She was the almost life long and very dear life-partner and Muse of Gustav Klimt. Just like him she was austrian and she was a fashion designer/creator and business woman and the sister of Gustavs sister-in-law. From 1891 onward he drew/painted her several times and rumors even say that Gustav, on his most well known painting “Der Kuss (The kiss), eternalized him and her together as lovers.

So if there is a name associated with the “Adele” portrait that were to be Emilies namesake it certainly was the right call to have it be the dear life-partner of the artist who is basically representing Gabriel in this. Emilie Flöge.

But digging even deeper into Gustav Klimts works one could even make the argument that another name in the show wasn’t as completely random either and apparently not lazy at all:

Amilie Graham de Vanily

Because 7 years after finishing “Adele Bloch-Bauer I” he started painting another portrait called “Das Bildnis der Amalie Zuckerkandl (The Image of Amalie Zuckerkandl)”

but it was never finished because… well… both he and Amalie died in that timeframe for reasons unrelated to each other so.. yeah. But still.

I do think this woman is the namesake for our Amilie de Vanily, not because of background information as with Emilie, its more that I can indeed imagine it very well that for Emilies sister Thomas Astruc and Team went back to the same artist they got her name from and looked for a fitting name. And since it’s a pair of twin sisters we are talking about here the name “Amalie” was probably just waaaaaay to good and convenient to pass on.

So Amalie became Amilie and our family Graham de Vanily twin sisters had their names.

But you know what? If I’m already at it, lets take this to another level and you all know what I'm about to point out.

Because the first thing I thought when I looked at the portrait of Emilie Flöge was a sober: "Yeah, so THAT looks like Mayura" 

-Main color blue with pink highlights

-one piece of each outfit has white incorporated

-both have a "peacock tail". Mayuras is just part of her dress and Flöges is something like a big fancy collar (idk man)

-Hands gloveless

-necks covered. Natalie/Mayura wears a turtleneck and Flöges wears a scarf

-Flöges has dark hair like Natalie (not as dark but definitely closer to Natalies than Emilie Agrestes)

I do even have another reason why I think Mayuras design was inspired by the real life background of Emilie Agrestes golden portrait.

Not only does Miss Flöges blue dress with pink highlights explain why the peacocks signature color is blue combined with (FREAKING) pink even though that isn’t anywhere close to an accurate depiction of a real life peacock the way all the other Miraculous do (It bothered me to no end but now I can finally sleep again in peace) But would you believe it? One of Gustav Klimts last finished paintings shows a woman who is supposedly meant to visualize what he thought to be the epitome of beauty:

Peacocks, fan, you get where I’m going here right?

And this would make sense, RIGHT? Emilie was the peacock miraculous holder before Natalie so Emilies namesake wearing an outfit resembling the peacock holder we know and the peacock in general combined with the symbols of what the artists thought to be beautiful should checkout, shouldn’t it?

Weeeeell yes but mostly no imo.

While it is true that Emilie was the blue peacock long before Natalie became Mayura, it doesn’t change the fact that we, the viewers, were trained to associate the direct complementary color with Emilie right from the start. Emilie for US is not blue, she’s the opposite of blue, she’s yellow like her portrait:

So it is very unlikely in my opinion that the blue Mayura outfit would be used like that for Emilie as well. That’s just WAY to harsh of a color whiplash for a character only given to us (for now) through stoic visual representation and a couple of lines from her family. We have very little to directly associate Emilies character with so yeah, her color coding with yellow and white is way to important to just break like that.

Therefore I do think its safe to say that the Mayura outfit/colorscheme is meant to be primarily associated with Natalie, meaning if the team actually took inspiration from this portrait for the Mayura design even though its also the portrait they took the name of the lost WIFE from, I do think this is supposed to mean something.

Especially when you consider that the painting of the epitome of beauty woman is obviously hindu oriented. Which comes right back to Natalie because not only is her villain name MAYURA the name of the male peacock in hindu mythology (the female one is called Mayuri) a general oriental flair is also how her room is designed as we just saw in the New York special 

So what does all of this mean now? I’ve thrown quite a lot at you and a lot is contradicting each other too much to get a clear picture right away. So lets bring a little order into all of this and translate how these informations properly with what we see in Miraculous.

I’ll break it down like this:

Adeles golden Portrait doesn’t show the actual lover of the artist. Although Adele was married the actual special woman in Gustav Klimts life was Emilie Flöge, his partner, friend and companion he may have been in love with.

Translating this for Miraculous would become this:

Emilies golden Portrait doesn’t show the actual lover of Gabriel Agreste. Although Emilie was married to him the actual special woman in Gabriels life was Natalie Sanccour, his partner, friend and companion he may be starting to fall in love with.

Meaning this for the usage of the real life portraits as references:

Yes they still choose the right name for Emilie. The lady on the golden portrait is neither lover nor wife hence why Emilie couldn’t be named Adele. Because even if Gabriel is now falling in love with Natalie its doesn’t change that before all of this started Emilie was indeed the special woman in his life, hence her namesake being Emilie Flöge.

But on the other hand Natalie/Mayura, Gabriels new love, we know from the very start and a lot better than Emilie, is the right person to give the design of the blue portrait. E. Flöge was life-partner, friend and companion to a single man, everything that Natalie is as well. So while all of these aspects also applied to Emilie Agreste in the past they are way more fittingly at home with Natalie in the narrative of the show.

Besides that I will continue to stand to my believe that once we get Emilie back things will not go the way Gabriel wanted. Too much has happened that is too unforgivable. So our Emilie is portrayed as the not-wife-lady in gold because once Emilie is back and finds out what a monster (of a father) Gabriel has become there will very quickly be no marriage between them anymore. 

Okay, that’s all I have but I just had a thought so I wanna say it for protocol that I called it:

They said "eyes are the window to the soul"

Why is it that from Levi's mind's perspective the most prominent feature of Mikasa are her eyes?

* the eyes of determination that she choose over and over again*

The eyes-

representing clairvoyance, a gate way to the soul, honesty. No matter which way you choose to look at it, it all comes to a similar end. And what intrigues me about Levi's memory picking up on Mikasa's eye details is the fact that most of my rivamika moments are based off on Levi looking at her. It's the way his eyes changes while interacting with her too!

Low-key more interesting is that all the three images I put shows Mikasa with just one eye.

I asked Google to tell me all kinds of symbolism of eyes and

What does one eye mean in the Bible?

"the light of the body in the eye" do you get how this refer backs to the infamous quote "eyes are the window to the soul"? Both of these meanings are telling me that the eyes leads to a inner part of someone that is far more significant spiritually than physically. More specifically, if we go back to the "light of the body is the eye" we can interpret it in many ways with rivamika. It's the fact that Levi sees her so soulfully that his mind subliminally focuses on her "light of the body". I can bravely say this goes hand in hand with the fact that nobody, and I mean, no body sees her like Levi does. For example, Jean when he first encounterd her the thing he noticed about her was physical, it was her hair. Obviously this feature was noticed due to jeans own personal taste, based on his ego, hence it was more about himself than Mikasa. Just like that many people views Mikasa as the woman worth a 100 soldiers due to her strength which is the focal point of her character but to most people that is all she ever is, the strongest. Eren views Mikasa as someone who treats him like his kid brother and is often annoyed at that fact, thinking of freeing himself from her grip as he sought freedom but this perspective that he has on her is based on off his taste, his desires.

In simpler words, everyone's personal opinions influences how they view people, in this particular case, Mikasa.

In spirituality when we talk about the third eye or opening the third eye chakra what we are saying is connecting with one's inner self and opening yourself up to powers that existed within yourself, which would allow you to see the world a bit differently. Feel and read energy more accurately, connect their inner self, a self which does not bow before any boundaries of time, age and such things alike. Yes, I'm trying to say rivamika are spiritually connected, because Levi having this "opened third eye energy" perception towards Mikasa might be the exact reason why, not only us as biased rivamika fanodm, but also new aot watchers instinctively sense the tension between Levi and Mikasa. This might also be the reason for their uncanny similarities and parallels, their unspoken words that gets so kindly heard by only these two. Their odd ways of commuting or the lack of language night be due to them being spiritually connected.

SO going back to Levi's subconscious mind's focus suspiciously being on Mikasa's eye symbolises the fact that he sees Mikasa without the influence of his personal taste or ego. Even without isayama confirming, with this fact I can interpret Levi as a honest character who seeks honesty in Mikasa ( another symbolism of the eye : honesty). I come to the conclusion that Levi is the one person who sees Mikasa for herself no matter how strong how beautiful or obsessed she is with Eren.

Isn't this why no one but he questioned Mikasa's feelings towards Eren in the first place?

And no matter what, he understands her. Understanding is the baseline of their relationship. Misunderstanding is the cement that mikasa's perosnal walls were built on and with Levi's understanding nature challenging her walls to be broken down, and it did.

Lastly is like touch on the part that

The tree trunk with darker colour is the part that allows the audience to clearly see the visuals of his memory, and to place mikasa's face right in that spot over and over again makes other parts of the scenes in the background become blurred out. Thus Mikasa being the absolute focal point of his memory. We this was just something I wanted to point out but I'm sure we have all noticed this.

Bellamy Law

Hm… This would be an attempt to explore the parallels and contrasts between Bellamy and Law. I've always found it fascinating that the former was a foil to the latter.

They both come from well-off  towns in the North Blue.

Bellamy left because of boredom. Law had no choice because Flevance.

Both ended up seeking Doflamingo  because of  his notoriety as a pirate. Both admired him initially

Doffy favored one over the other though. Bellamy always sought his approval but was never really part of the inner circle Doflamingo cared about.

Law got the dubious privilege of being part of the family despite being absent for so long. Even offered one of the highest seats by Doffy's side for seemingly nothing.

Law had no trouble turning his back on Doffy once he realized the man's nature. Bellamy tried to stick to his principles until the end despite admitting that he new he was wrong.

Bellamy can (and did) quit piracy after his ordeal with Doflamingo. Having the option to live peacefully, perhaps a return to his previous life (the one he considered boring). Law can't do that quite as easily what with his Devil fruit and his reputation.

I thought it would be interesting trying to explore what Bellamy was thinking. Did he hear the Donquixote Pirates talk about their missing 'family'? Did he get to see Doffy be amused at Law's rise as a Supernova while he kept being reminded of his own status? Did Law save Bellamy partially because he also saw what he could have been had Corazon not saved him?

On principle, Bellamy should have hated Trafalgar Law. Does. Bastard even saved him without him wanting it. But there was something about the shadows haunting those eyes and Bellamy started to wonder.

He had heard the family talk about Law before. The child personally taught by Doflamingo, chosen to be his right hand. Never was he compared to the man because Law was just obviously better. Smarter. Stronger. Bellamy was ever just an uncouth thug.

He was allowed to 'borrow' Doflamingo's symbol while Law had an empty seat waiting for his return–a seat Bellamy had wanted enough to risk everything for.

Maybe he had resented, Trafalgar Law for carelessly rejecting the things he had that Bellamy had always desired. In the end too, Trafalgar Law did prove to be better. He'd done as a child what Bellamy had trouble doing even as he was now.

But having been given the chance to observe the other man as they all recovered, he wondered, perhaps for the first time, whether despite Law being better than Bellamy, Bellamy had had it better–barring the poor life choices.

Law and Bible stuff

This is just me wanting to know how many biblical parallels and themes I can draw from Law, the Donquixote brothers, the characters associated with them, and his backstory. Honestly not sure whether this would become a fic and in what style or I'm gonna give up and just make it a post.

Not gonna elaborate on them much but here are the ideas in more bullet points (yay):

Law gets familiar with all four horsemen of the apocalypse: conquest, war, famine, and death. He even survives them.

Law is like the son in the parable of the prodigal son to the Donquixote pirates. Except the themes are inverted.

Doflamingo and Rocinante -> Cain and Abel

Ope Ope no Mi -> Granting eternal life by sacrificing one's own life

Gods descending or living among humans. Also, Homing and his family being prosecuted for other people's sins.

That scene where they were hanged by their arms outstretched looks like a crucifixion. Also, Rocinante was on the right while Doflamingo was on the left. Similar to how the penitent thief was on the right and the unrepentant one to the left.

Flevance being considered a paradise with walls/fences/gates and somewhere Law cannot return to.

In the panel where the Donquixote pirates are seated at the table, there were thirteen of them with Doffy at the center. Same as The Last Supper

There are a lot more of these (David and Goliath, Solomon, Jonah, Job, etc.) but I kinda lost the notes and some are more visual so I can't really explain it too well. This would is a drabble series to emphasize or highlight the parallels so no proper snippet for this one.

Law is a substitute kindergarten teacher

Originally an idea to get around most of the Heart Pirates being nameless but evolved to include other characters as kids. Chopper is a kindergarten teacher and he convinces Law to take over his class for a week because somehow Law has the qualifications to and free time. Naturally, he wasn't able to say no.

Unfortunately, despite not being terrible at handling children, Chopper's class is filled with menaces. Also, despite not being terrible, Law can still be awkward so...

"Mr. Trofao–fargar—"

"Trafalgar."

The kid—which one was this one again? Shit, he should really get them name plates or something—scrunched up his face and tried harder, "Tar-pal—"

"Law. Just call me Law."

"Mr. Low"—eh, close enough—"can I go to the bathroom?" Wide imploring eyes stared up at him.

"Sure, go ahead." Law gestured towards the exit of the classroom with his head.

The kid just stared expectantly at him and he tried to suppress the need to narrow his eyes.

"Is there… anything else?"

"Mr. Chopper always comes with me to hold my hand."

Really?

"Mr. Chopper isn't here. You should practice doing it on your own now." He said after a deep inhale.

"But the monsters might get me…"

"No, they won't."

"You don't know that."

"I do." Before the kid could open his mouth again to argue, he added, "Besides, children taste terrible so you're safe."

The kid looked stricken and took a step back from him. Uh oh. Glistening eyes, wobbling lower lip… "Alright! I'll go with you." The kid did not look reassured. In fact he looked like going alone with Law was the last thing he wanted to do. Guess, he kinda implied that he ate children didn't he? Oops.

Well, the kid needs to go and he's not going to be cleaning up after him if he wets himself.

Law glanced at the rest of the children. It was Arts and Craft time and they seemed preoccupied enough. Still, Law doubted Chopper ever left these kids alone–already he could see some of them glancing up at him, waiting for him to leave no doubt to cause trouble. That Monkey kid in particular looked extremely suspicious.

He stood up from his crouch and clapped twice to get everyone's attention.

"Alright. Fall in line. Single file."

There was some grumbling and questioning directed at him. "What's going on?"

Law shrugged. "You're all going to the bathroom."

Shichibukai Application Forms

Crackfic where the World Government and relevant parties review various Shichbukai Applications. Most submitted by the pirates applying themselves, some produced by their own staff. They discuss and debate. As well as judge pirate resumes.

She scanned the document. Terrible format, really. If you fail to impress within the first page, you've failed entirely. There just wasn't anyone promising enough in this batch of applications or any of the other ones before. The last one had been that clown. "Apprentice to the Pirate King," was a pretty hefty credential.

"Oh, how about this one? Three years experience pillaging, and they even listed all the towns they looted." One of the newly transferred administrative staff said.

"None of these are worth considering at all. You know, when Mihawk was asked to submit his application, he hadn't bothered with all of this. He just sent us a card with his name on it and the title "World's Strongest Swordsman," underneath."

The staff perked up. "Oh, there was an application like that." There was scramble and some shuffling before a plain white card was produced. "Here."

"'From Trafalgar Law'. What does this even mean?"

"Well, it did come with a big box..."

Reverse Hanahaki Disease

Haha. At first it was going to be that way (because it is hilarious) but the inflicted would probably choke to death too soon. Or if both enemies had it, they'd end up just coughing flowers at each other until they stopped being enemies.

The version I ended up going with was that this variant of Hanahaki, instead of afflicting those with unrequited love, affected those in denial instead. The reverse part comes from the original idea that this would usually happen if you somehow fell in love with your nemesis (someone you originally hated). So it's not the thought that the other person can't love you, it's that you can't accept that you love that other person. You get cured by confessing to the person sincerely.

This is actually another KidLaw (surprise!). And the flower coughed up directly represents the person they're in love with (I went with Oda's flower representation for them because I found it funny for plot)

So the idea is that, you get sick but you don't automatically know (maybe) who it is because that's part of being in denial. Kid and Law have many enemies after all. In this story they both get it though not exactly at the same time and not known to the other.

He survived Amber Lead Syndrome only to be killed off by a stupid flower disease that apparently knows more about his own feelings than he does.

He glared at the petals. Tulips. Red.

An image of a cocky grin and a shock of red hair flashed through his mind and—nope. That's not right.

He coughed harder, tears stinging his eyes with the effort. More flowers. Now he has enough for a bouquet.

Alright, he was a doctor. He could do this. Differential time.

First, which variant does he have. He doesn't particularly feel unloved or hopeless. There wasn't anyone he wanted in particular to love him. Ok, nothing. It was maybe safe to say he had that other variant.

Which was stupid because Law had many enemies and he hated all of them.

And cue the racking coughs. More red. He was very familiar with that particular shade.

New theory. This was a new variant that somehow makes you sick when you think of the person you hated the most.

Yes, that had to be it. He thought as he all but collapsed on the floor from the sudden paroxysm.

I knew this was gonna get long. :) Oh well...

If there was anyone you would never expect to see sitting in the dean's office, it would be your table partner. Sure, he's can be a little rowdy and annoying at times but apart from that, he's the closest thing to a model student.

"Wooyoung? The hell are you doing here? I thought you were just late for class, like for the first time in your life." Oh, perhaps you should have minded your language a little more. Since, you know, you're in the dean's office.

Wooyoung whipped his head around, as surprised, or maybe even more, to ever see you here. Sure, your grades have always been excellent but apart from that, you're the closest thing to a substitute teacher's worst nightmare. Speaking of substitute teachers, that's exactly why you were called in here. But wait, Wooyoung is speaking.

"Oh, they wanted to thank me for representing the school in that dance competition I went last month-"

Eurgh, they call people in just for that too?"

-along with many other things......" Wooyoung's voice trailed off awkwardly, not wanting to come across as arrogant, though you already knew very well that he was far from that. There was a reason he was one of your favourite people in school.

"Oh." Your eyebrows arched up at his words as you nodded slowly, taking a seat in the chair that he had already pulled out for you. "So where did Mrs Noh go?" You asked, legs crossed and fingers impatiently tapping on the mahogany desk.

"She had to pick up a call," Wooyoung replied, letting out a soft scoff and grin when he saw the way you were sitting. Most people would be too nervous to even breathe in the dean's office but here you were acting like the place was yours. Have you been in here before without him knowing? "I haven't asked but, what are you doing here? I suppose it's not for something praise-worthy?" When you shot him a look that was half out of disbelief and half of ridicule, Wooyoung knew that he shouldn't even have asked. Not that he thought you were a bad person - you weren't - you were just not very well liked by the teachers for, well, many reasons.

"I told the substitute literature teacher that his teaching was worse than eating an unsalted rotten kimchi." You shrugged, you didn't think you had done anything worth being called to the dean's office for. You were just speaking the truth. "What?" Wooyoung stared at you, waiting for you to carry on with your story, knowing that was definitely not everything that went down while he was away from you (he would have made you apologised right away if he was there). "Okay, okay, so then I just stood up and left the class because I couldn't sit in there listening to his rubbish any longer."

"I leave you alone in class for like 15 minutes and shit happens," Wooyoung sighed, shaking his head as he rubbed his temples. "And it was literally only 15 minutes, just what did he say for you to conclude so quickly that he was bad at teaching?"

Before you could start ranting to Wooyoung, the dean opened the door with an apologetic smile directed towards Wooyoung, her wrinkled face shrivelling up even further with displeasure when she noticed that you were there as well.

What would be the better facial expression in response to that? Rolling your eyes, like your natural instincts tell you to, or faking an innocent smile, because that was what Wooyoung would tell you to do? You had no choice but to settle for the latter when Wooyoung nudged your leg, simultaneously telling you to sit properly as well.

You don't even know why you listen to Wooyoung so well. You usually hate it when others tell you to do, but if Wooyoung were to ask you to walk into Louis Vuitton and attempt to steal a $10,000 bag for him, you would. Not that he would ever, but yes, you would, and not even mention his name during interrogation.

"You should spend more time with people like Wooyoung, then maybe you will learn to have some manners!" Mrs Noh criticised, causing you and Wooyoung you exchange knowing looks as the both of you tried your very best to not burst out laughing.

"Good grades mean nothing if your attitude is bad!"

"Yes, ma'am."

After making Wooyoung sit through your scolding and you his mini award ceremony, the dean sent the both of you back to class together. "She said we should spend more time together," Wooyoung giggled, poking at your side as he wiggled his eyebrow.

"Gross, I'm sick from having to see your face everytime I turn to my left when I'm just trying appreciate Yeosang's visuals," you pretended to gag and Wooyoung proceeded to reach for your head to ruffle your hair, purposely annoying you as a punishment for saying that. Maybe you shouldn't have made it seem that you hated Wooyoung doing that, because it was the total opposite. Your heart was already starting to race

."How awkward will it be if you walked back into class right now?" Wooyoung laughed, thinking about how you would still have to sit through another hour of the substitute teacher's class. When you don't send a kick to his butt like you usually would, Wooyoung turned to look at you, slightly concerned.

"Are you that angry just thinking about it? Your face is so red."

Silence.

"Y-"

"Jeong Wooyoung, I like you." You blurted out, completely taking Wooyoung, and yourself, by surprise. Well technically, it wasn't the fact that you had feelings for him that came as a shock to him. It would take an idiot to not see that you were whipped for him, and vice versa. Wooyoung just didn't think that you would ever admit it, because he would never, and you must say, you didn't either.

"That was very abrupt," Wooyoung commented as he stared blankly at the empty corridor behind you. It was, it was. Those five words had completely knocked all the thoughts out of his brain, and suddenly he became very aware of how heavy his arms were from merely hanging from his shoulders. Where should he even place them? Stick them right next to his legs, reach out to hold you (where anyways), or to just leave them be?

Silence.

"Are you not going to say anything else?" Wooyoung asked, unsure of how to continue, or end, this conversation.

Hi, first of all I love your writing.

Second: I was wondering if I could get help/advice? You see I'm moving in with my boyfriend next Monday, he was married before but his wife died giving birth to their baby girl who is 4 years old now. I have obviously meet the little girl and we get along well but now that I am moving in I'm not going to be "daddy's girlfriend who plays with me" like I know I'm never gonna take her mom's place but I have to act like one, I love her but problem is I am white and have only taken care of my little siblings (alwo white), the little girl is black just like her mommy and I know our skin and hair have different needs, I bought a big doll and have been practicing hairstyles that I found on youtube that are for her hair type (I am not very good at it ir but I promise I'm trying) , I just don't know what I should do like the special care of her hair or like is there something I should know before moving in? Also, I know she is struggling with accepting herself, she told my boyfriend's mom that as his dad is white and is dating a white girl maybe she isn't as pretty as she thought because her daddy isn't with someone who looks like her, that seriously broke my heart and I wanna make sure she knows she's beautiful and loved, but like I don't really know how to make her understand that, I don't even acept myself so I don't know how to teach self-love to others, love my boyfriend and I love his daughter as if she was my own and I really wanna be the best umm mommy or step mommy that I can, but I'm kinda nervous because I don't wanna ruin it.

I think to start I want to say that your concern and care about making sure your bf’s daughter is happy and know she’s loved is a sign that your heart is already in the right place and the nervousness you feel does come from fear of ruining things or letting her down like you said but those are only fears, trust that the research you’ve done and will do and the fact that you already love her and treat her as your own will guide you in the right direction!

As for any tips I think making sure that she has visual and physical examples of toys or dolls and media and things that represent her and look like her will help and also making sure she has black friends too as she grows up bc as someone who grew up primary surrounded by white people for a long time it can be lonely and makes you feel out of place you know and I think just trying to do your best to remind her that she is pretty and loved and wonderful as she is so she starts to hear that all the time you know and when she expresses doubts about herself bc of what she looks like it’s important both you and your bf sit down with her and talk that out, let her explain in her way how she feels and what may be making her think that and do your best to reassure her

I definitely understand not being sure how to teach that to someone else when you yourself struggle with accepting yourself and practicing self love but I try to think of self love as a very long process involving mostly baby steps, it just starts with reminding and reminding and reminding your brain or another person of their worth and beauty as a person so that when their thoughts start to go negative they already have that foundation of love from parental figures or friends or what have you to fall back on and remember at those moments

I also think it’s important to know that even with that foundation you set for her, the world in general is a place that isn’t kind or welcoming to black girls in particular and it will be a battle as she grows up when she encounters experiences being in the world whether it’s about her hair to her skin to her beauty to any outright racism and micro aggressions that get internalized even from within the community and from outside as well, and just being there for her is key so she’s able to navigate those experiences knowing in the back of her mind that she’s loved and has been filled up with love since childhood which is a super vital period of time

I truly think through loving her and instilling her with as much confidence and care as possible and seeing that take hold it can also have the same affect on yourself and your own struggles with self acceptance, I really believe in loving households having that power even if it’s hard to always do that or know what to do and if it’s right, you try your best and make it a point every day to give her the care she deserves and that love and care is a collaboration between you and your man and those two positive forces can do a lot for her!

you just stared at the classroom wall in wonder while your boyfriend of 2 years, hwang hyunjin, the homeroom escort stood at the front, hands behind his back as he chews his bottom lip nervously.

he was chosen to participate in the upcoming event during the school festival tomorrow and he had stood at the front along with yuqi, a chinese exchange student who is excellent in korean, (sometimes, you wonder if she is even chinese) to represent your room and for the teacher to announce why they had to leave the room for they had to practice catwalking outside.

you weren't sad that you were not his partner but you were insecure. there were so many girls who were different from you, pretty and skinny girls who desrved hyunjin. you were just an average girl who had the right curves at the right parts with long straight hair and milky white skin, yet you felt insecure because there's a vast ocean of beautiful girls, afraid that hyunjin would leave you for one of them.

hyunjin no longer payed attention to chewing his bottom lip as he looks around for you, only to find that you're staring at space with your jaw cradled by your hand. he looks confused as he thinks of the many possibilities you could be thinking of, 'is she hungry? or sleepy? or tired?' he just shrugged it off, thinking that you just wanted the day to end so you could play with kkami after class since you've been whining that haven't seen kkami the whole weekend.

after what seemed like 1 a year, both of them finally returned to their seats. hyunjin takes a seat beside you as you still space out, when you hear the metal chair scrape the floor you are immediately out of your trance as you try to avoid hyunjin's stares and glances by pretending to be sleeping.

"i know you're faking it, princess. what were you thinking about that you were startled by the sound of my chair?" he, too lays his head facing you.

"why aren't you outside yet? didn't mr. yoo say you guys had to practice?" you ask rather harshly. you didn't mean it to sound harsh but you were just mad at yourself for being insecure. hyunjin had always caught you crying, heard you say that you weren't worthy of having him as a boyfriend since few people kept on going about why hyunjin even decided to have you instead of other girls. he always told you to not feel that you weren't deserving of him because you do deserve him, so it made you feel bad to just disregard his words.

"oh yeah, i just wanted to check on you. i'll see you at lunch, baby." he leans closer to your figure and kisses your cheek, his lips on your right cheek has you burning because he decided to make your heart palpitate for staying there for a minute while stroking your hair. after a minute, he kisses your forehead and goes away to the door.

2 years and he never fails to make your heart beat fast. throughout your relationship, he never actually got to kiss your lips, there were forehead pecks and cheek kisses but it was only up to there. he was intimate with you rather, backhugging and cuddling were his favorites because he took advantage of your height. he could easily spoon you and you found it cute that yesterday, instead of his arm being around your shoulder for a movie marathon, he wanted you to spoon him so you ended up with his arms around your waist, his head on your shoulder, peppering kisses on your exposed skin through your worn-out grey sweater to which he pulled down.

he was a perfect boyfriend, a fluffy big baby who always took candid photos of you with his camera and someone who'd hold onto you pinky while you guys sneaked out at night to watch the stars, someone who'd stay at night with you, comforting you when lightning strikes as you snuggle closer to his chest, taking a waft of his cologne which smelled heavenly on him, much like his face. he was someone you never thought you'd have which you thought would only occur in your dreams. all of it made you think whether you deserve him or not.

[the next day]

cheers erupted from girls behind as hyunjin walked the runway, wearing a white turtleneck underneath a black jean jacket with light blue denim jeans as his blonde hair was parted. you smiled, thinking that he looked good and could be scouted for a model as he posed at front edge of the stage, looking for you at the crowd and winking at you.

you blushed madly while the girls behind you screamed much louder, "hyunjin winked at me! he winked at me!" she shooked her friend as her friend scoffed, "stop being delusional, he winked at his girlfriend in front of us, he may be handsome but he has no taste for women. he could easily have bae joohyun-sunbaenim or hwang yeji but he chose an ugly duckling. she doesn't deserve him." the girl snorted as she laughed while you felt tears blur your vision as you look down, overhearing their conversation hurt and what hurt even more was that it was true.

[backstage]

hyunjin bows at other contestants as he was the first to finish changing into summer wear, a white shirt underneath a blue polo with white flowers and white shorts with black sandals. his blonde hair parted at the side while he stood where they woukd be going out of, looking for you.

wheb he finally got ahold of your figure, he noticed that you had your head down and you were trembling, your back moving up and down slightly. 'is she crying?' it took him just 5 minutes to find the cause. the girls behind you were holding up their middle finger without you noticing and mocked you by purposely kicking your chair.

this made him furious. what were their rights to even do that to you? he knew about you being insecure and was confused why. he told you that you were his life and as cringy as it sounds, he didn't want to live life without you in it. he had always thought that you looked like a goddess who fell from the heavens, everytime you tucked a stray hair behind your ear he would always find himself staring while his inner self told him that you were a pure goddess. you were so attractive in so many ways, a straight a's student who'd always top the rankings and a girl who loved music, someone who had the most captivating smile and honey-sweet voice. you weren't a replica of a goddess but you were one. one of the perfect people who made him fall head over heels inlove with.

he wondered whether they were degrading you or talked about harsh things about you. it made him want to forfeit from the competition so that he could run to you and hug you tightly, whispering 'you'll be okay' while stroking your hair.

he made his way to the teacher in charge with clenched fists. "can i forfeit? i really need to go to my girlfriend who's crying and i'm worried that she might faint since she has breathing problems because of the enclosed space and loud screams."

"i'm sorry mr. hwang but we can't let you forfeit, that's against the rules since the show has started. if you forfeit you'll have minus points and a 2 day suspension for breaking a major rule and also refusing to represent your class." the teacher said as hyunjin sighed deeply. he didn't want to waste a day of school which makes him see you, his ethereal girlfriend. he uttered a thank you to the teacher and tapped his shoes on the worriedly while biting his nails.

he wanted the show to end quickly so that he'll engulf you in a hug, comforting you.

[after few hours]

when the show ended, you had puffy and red eyes. you wanted nothing else than to run into hyunjin's arms. he had won the title of mr. sopa while you smiled weakly, proud at your boyfriend.

you sat there while trying to calm your breathing. there were only few people left snd the participants, taking pictures with each other or other students. when you stood up and walked to the door, halfway towards the door a hand pulled you and you collided into someone's chest, his hands engulfing your waist. your first instinct was to push the man away but when his cologne took place in your nostrils and wrapped your arms around him and buried your head in his chest. your eyes watered for the nth time and started sobbing into hyunjin's chest while hyunjin stroked your hair and whispered comforting things to you, all the while kissing your head.

he pulled away for what seemed like 10 minutes and placed his hands on you cheeks, his thumbs wiping away your tears and kissed your tears away.

"baby, why are you crying?" he asks as you hold his hands that were on your cheeks.

"they- they said that- i- i don't- hicc deserve you- hicc, because i'm- hicc ugly and i am- hicc i don't deserve you- hicc." you sob as you manage to spurt out a sentence.

"princess, you do deserve me. i'm not perfect you know and i just want you to know that i love you so much. don't listen to what they say and just think of what i'd feel if i knew you're hurt. i'd also feel hurt, more hurt than you are." he says as he feels tears sting his eyes, tearing due to the fact that you've been feeling hurt all this time because of harsh words that aren't true at all.

"you could easily have joohyun-sunbaenim or- hicc yeji but- hicc why did you choose me?" you choke out, slightly calming down as hyunjin pulls you closer and keeps his hands on either side of your cheeks.

"i chose you because you're you. i love you because you're not like them, because you're unique and perfect in my eyes. can't you see what i see in you, babygirl? i see perfection in you and i never once regretted that i fell inlove with you. i wish that you'd think what i see of you, princess. i'm hurt because you think so lowly of yourself. that you have such low self-esteem and confidence in yourself. you're perfect, baby. don't ever think that you're even of the same rank as them because you're way much more than that." hyunjin says as his tears flow down, pulling you again in a hug and strokes your hair, calming you down.

he pulls away and once again cradles you face with his hands, "you're so beautiful, babygirl." he says with much affection as he leans closer, staring at your lips.

when you feel his lips touch yours, you wrap your arms around his neck and pull him closer. by now, no space is left hanging and you've eliminated all the space between you two. his mouth opens under yours as his left hand wraps around your waist whilst his right gently cups your neck, tilting his head for a comfortable angle. you're addicted to the taste of his lips, intoxicated by the feeling of his lips colliding with yours. you crave more of him and as if he read your mind, he licks your lips, signalling you to open it to which you do, as your tongues fight for dominance. he pulls you even closer as he deepens the kiss, he lightly bites your lip as he pulls away, almost losing self control when he hears you whimper.

breathing heavily, he stares at you with so much love and adoration, "promise me that you'll never say that you don't deserve me or ever think that you're hideous."

feeling euphoria wash over you, you smile at him genuinely, thankful for having him as the love of your life, "i promise."

Hi! I'm world-building for something that i may-or-may-not make into a novel (if i get the guts and develop the skill haha) and was wondering - what character types aren't represented enough? From lgbt+ to poc to personality types that go along with that. I'm a white pan myself, and i'm afraid to say that i don't really know what to do :\

I’m probably not the best person to say which characters or groups of people are underrepresented in media/writing. I’m also white and have a fluid sexuality. I would say that the biggest step that we can take is creating well-researched, three-dimensional characters from any underrepresented or minority groups. They may be LGBT+ characters, disabled characters or PoC, but that shouldn’t be their only defining trait.

For example, your main character could be a very openly gay PoC, but that shouldn’t be their entire personality. They could be a physically strong magic user, they could be a scholar with a very acute sense of smell, or they could be a visually impaired lawyer by day and superhero at night (I’m looking at you Daredevil).

I’m not saying you should downplay your character’s personality or identity to the extent where they are effectively whitewashed, or create a cast so diverse that every single character is representative of a different underrepresented group. The representation in your story should be revealed in the way they interact with the world around them.

Say you have a character who identifies as a lesbian. This fact might not come into play in your story until a male character asks her out on a date. You can definitely suggest that she is attracted to the really cute barista by having her heart flutter or flirtatiously brush her hand against the barista’s as she takes her half-caf soy mochaccino, but she probably won’t introduce herself as “Hi, I’m the main character. I’m a PoC Lesbian.”

Your character might be devoutly religious which may not show unless they are taking part in a festival or prayer that is only observed by that specific religion. Your character may be a part of a cultural group which is reflected in their speech or how they wear their clothing or even style their hair.

There are quite a few master lists floating around with tips for writing a character from a background that is different than yours. I really like this one from @theplotlinehotline which has a little of everything. There are also a couple tumblr blogs that are moderated by several users that are willing to share their experience and answer questions, such as @writingwithcolor or @ask-lgbt-writers .

Since you’re working on your worldbuilding, you may want to ask yourself some questions that might help you discover what YOUR novel’s minority group will be. This minority group could be based on a physical trait, identity or ideology.

“Is there a ‘minority’ or  group in this story?” This minority group could be PoC, LGBT+, magic users, neurodivergent, supernatural, a religion, etc. This would depend entirely on your story and the world it takes place in, but your main goal here is to decide who is "cultural norm” and who is “other.”

For example, I’m currently reading The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard, who does a wonderful job of establishing the disconnection between Us (reds) and Them (silvers). I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone, but there are two very defined groups. The upper class which is made up of nobles and high ranking military officials, and the lower class which is made up of footsoldiers, and skilled laborers. It’s very similar to the breakdown in The Hunger Games between The Capital and The Districts and creates an “us v.s. other” divide.

Another good question you will want to ask yourself is “What challenges does this minority group face as a result?” Are they publicly viewed as less than by the majority? Do they hold different types of occupations? Do they live in different areas? Is it possible for someone in the minority to change their situation to become a part of the majority? Does the majority treat the “other” as inferior, or are the differences more subtle and unspoken?
