This has nothing to do with the ask meme, and I know you’ll be busy with uni so don’t worry if you can’t answer. Would you happen to have any headcanons for Kevin Turvey and/or the Dangerous Brothers? I’m curious!

Hi again!

Starting uni again after the big Xmas break has been a little stressful, won't lie 😅 but my first week of classes are done now. So!

I do indeed have headcanons for these people. 👀

I'm undecided about the specifics, but I think Kevin is neurodivergent. I also think he dissociates sometimes. Apart from that, I've got a headcanon about The Man Behind The Green Door actually happening before Kevin Turvey Investigates (even though it's actually the opposite). Kevin decided to make a film and somehow someone at the BBC saw it and thought "this guy would be good for a comedy section, but don't tell him it's a comedy section". The main reason I came up with this headcanon is for a fic I have in the works - in Investigates, Kevin talks about living in a flat (can't remember which floor at the moment, but it's not the ground floor), but in The Green Door, he lives with his mum in a house. There are multiple explanations for why this could be - he lied about the flat, he lost the flat and had to move home - but in this headcanon where the events are reversed, he gets kicked out and has to go and find a flat for himself. His mum and Mick want the house to themselves, they're fed up of creeping around behind his back. Because angst, yeah?

I also think he rarely ever leaves Redditch. Popping down to the BBC to film for A Kick Up The Eighties is probably one of the rare occasions he does. He needs more excitement in his life, but this hasn't really occurred to him.

As for the Dangerous Brothers, I have a headcanon about them growing up together in an orphanage in Soho. They're not related, they just happened to end up in the same orphanage. They managed to deter all prospective adoptive parents from the both of them by misbehaving. Richard is the older one (so a reverse of real life) and when he was a kid he was afraid of the dark... Although he'll never admit that. It was on Bonfire Night when the two of them first saw fireworks and were absolutely awestruck that they developed their love for all things explosive, which I wrote a fic about.

I also think they know the stage personas of other alternative comedians. In their world, the stage personas are what they're like all the time (basically, like The Comic Strip 1981).

Although the Dangerous Brothers are perfectly happy beating the shit out of each other, the moment someone else tries something (verbal or physical) they become very protective of one another. Rip to whoever crosses them. Adrian is generally better at being affectionate (whatever affection means to them).
