The workshop is planned as the ultimate and final workshop that brings up all advance technique and latest knowledge to the participants (See, Fig. 6a, 6b, 6c). As stated by Abdullah the main purpose of an industrial design process is to meet the needs of the users through the understanding of the intangible and tangible elements of design. The influence of industrial design is unrestricted as industrial design services can be applied in most industries (Ulrich & Eppinger, 2000).

The meeting room just as common meeting, the bonus is they got espresso machine inside. Recently, I’ve been reading quite a lot of books. I read couple books in a time, just to shoo the boredom. Soft cover books are always my favorite. visit here -to-grab size, the lightweight, and the smell (and don’t forget the gorgeous cover) never failed me to pick them up from the bookstores. The bookstore that I found almost close to the bookstore in the movie is Aksara. They have couple branches in Jakarta area, at Kemang, Pacific Place, Plaza Indonesia and Cilandak Town Square. The collections are not complete as the well-known Japanese bookstores, but Aksara’s books are more specific. Despite the owner’s background as an architect, she chooses rarely but ‘to-the-point’ items. If you looking for uncommon books, you can find them here.

Time for Change – Part Five
Pairing: Cillian Murphy x Reader
Warning: Smut
Words: 3,388
Notes: Not based on Cillian’s life. This is fiction guys!
Tumblr media
The week following your night at the Westin with Cillian, you and Cillian caught up again, this time at a different hotel and without spending the entirety of the night together so that you wouldn’t raise any suspicions.
Then, the weekend after that, it was his birthday party and you and James were invited over to his and Danielle’s house to celebrate.
Chloe stayed with her grandmother and you were keen to see Cillian again. At the same time, you were nervous. It was the first time you were going to be around Danielle after you slept with Cillian and it certainly didn’t help that, despite your sense of clarity around everything, you were developing feelings for your brother-in-law.
The text messages between you and Cillian had become constant and not just sexual in nature. He called you daily when he could and you even met up on occasion, sometimes at the park when you both went for a run or sometimes at the local bookstore.
He was different to James. He had always been kind and you were interested in the same things. Occasionally, you would still teach the piano to his kids and he made sure that, every time you came over, Danielle wasn’t home.
When there was a chance, you kissed and held hands. You got to know him, even to the point where, when James bought Cillian a birthday present, you rolled your eyes, thinking that it was unsuitable.
‘He does not drink spirits James. Just shelf it and I will go to the bookstore and get something else for him, yeah?’ you chuckled and James looked at you somewhat confused.
‘You seem to know him well, your brother-in-law. I could almost be led to believe that you have a little crush on him’ James said, raising an eyebrow.
‘I ran into him a few times at the book store so I have an idea what he likes James. That’s all’ you explained, cheeks flushing.
‘Relax Y/N, I was just joking. I was thinking though, you know how Cillian had spoken about his holiday house down south the other time?’ James asked.
‘Yes, what about it?’ you asked.
‘Well, perhaps we can ask him for the key and get away for a weekend, just you and me. This might get you in the mood for some sexy time for a change’ James said, causing you to sigh.
‘James, we talked about this. I am just going through a few things’ you explained, not wanting to be with James in any intimate way knowing the big secret he was keeping from you.
‘It’s still about my affairs, isn’t it? You know, if you would have been more attentive as a wife and less occupied with Chloe’s needs and your job, I wouldn’t have had to cheat on you’ James said angrily, making it out to be your fault.
‘So, it’s my fault you fucked your secretary and knocked her up?’ you asked angrily.
‘How did you know?’ James wondered.
‘I just do James. It’s for another time to discuss. Not today. Today, I will pretend to be a happy wife and we will go to my step sister’s house for the party. Then tomorrow, we will talk about what we are going to do moving forward’ you suggested.
‘You know, this is all your fault Y/N. At least Laura gave me a child which is something you were incapable of doing. You didn’t want to fucking try going through IVF’ James then shouted angrily.
‘Because we didn’t have the money, James! And money is what keeps you here now, by my side, isn’t it? You don’t want to pay support for Chloe and me and you don’t want to miss out on my inheritance. Is that it? Because if you leave me, you don’t get anything’ you yelled at him as, suddenly, you had to reach for the corner of the kitchen bench as a wave of nausea washed through your body.
‘Chloe isn’t my daughter, nor is she yours. I have a daughter now and you can’t have children, which is probably for the better because, obviously, you are delusional and self-centred, blaming me for what happened instead of yourself’ James yelled, holding onto your shirt tightly and angrily.
‘Oh, I am self-centred?’ you barely managed to say before pushing his hand away and making your way to the downstairs bathroom rather quickly.
As soon as you walked through the door, you dropped to the floor and leaned over the toilet.
‘Jesus Christ’ you huffed as another bound of nausea overcame you and you emptied your breakfast into the toilet.
Just as you were in the bathroom, you heard the front door of the house close shut and you realised that James had left, which was probably for the better.
‘This fucking sushi place’ you growled to yourself, regretting your takeaway choice for the previous night before quickly brushing your teeth and making your way to the bookstore.
***
At around 7 o’clock that night, you arrived at Cillian’s and Danielle’s house without James by your side.
When Danielle enquired about James’s whereabout, you informed her that he would arrive a little later and so he did.
She could sense that you had been fighting and was quick to offer you a drink, which you gladly accepted.
After wishing Cillian a happy birthday and giving him his present, you socialised with Danielle and her friends and, every time you spoke to her, you felt guilty about what you were doing.
Yet, you couldn’t help but glance over towards Cillian on numerous occasions. He looked incredible and you loved seeing him smile.
Danielle, however, seemed unhappy and a mutual friend by the name Natalie eventually asked her what was wrong.
‘I think Cillian is seeing someone’ Danielle said quietly.
‘Oh god Jesus Danielle, not again, please’ Natalie said, being well aware of the constant allegations and fights they were having. ‘Just because you cheated doesn’t mean he did’ she then said, causing you to almost choke on your wine.
‘You did what?’ you asked surprised. This was the first you heard of it.
‘It was many years ago Y/N. Cillian knows and he forgave me. He was always away and I struggled with the kids and…’ Danielle went on to explain and you couldn’t stop yourself from laughing.
‘What is so funny? We all make mistakes’ she said and you couldn’t help but shake your head in disbelieve.
‘Well, apparently so’ you chuckled. ‘Now, what makes you think that he is cheating on you Danielle?’ you then asked, curious as to whether her suspicions were actually warranted and whether she knew something.
‘I looked at his bank account statement and there were two hotel charges in Dublin in the past two weeks, one for the Westin and one for the Hilton’ she explained.
‘He could have just eaten there with friends Danielle, both of these Hotels have restaurants attached to them and are conveniently located near Temple Bar’ Natalie then laughed, causing Danielle to nod.
‘Yeah, probably. But, he has been acting funny lately and isn’t interested in intimacy. He doesn’t even kiss me anymore’ Danielle said.
‘You walked out on him twice in two months Danielle. Does this seriously surprise you?’ you asked, causing Danielle to shake her head just as Cillian came walking over towards you.
‘Miss Music Teacher, do you mind helping me with this?’ Cillian asked you as he handed you a guitar with two broken strings.
‘What animal did this?’ you chuckled and Cillian looked over towards one of his friends, rolling his eyes as he did.
‘Right, show me where the string is and I will fix it’ you said and Cillian asked you to follow him downstairs which is where he kept all of the music instruments and accessories.
***
After you followed Cillian into the basement and he gave you quick kiss now that you had some privacy, you quickly locked the door behind you.
‘What are you doing?’ Cillian asked surprised and, without loosing any time, you moved towards him and pressed your lips onto his again for a more passionate kiss.
Your lips parted his, allowing your tongue to enter for a short moment and explore, before you broke off the kiss and moved back. You then brushed your finger over his lips in a silent hush as you started fumbling with his zipper.
‘I am giving you another birthday present’ you smirked and, whilst Cillian knew that this was wrong, especially with Danielle and James both upstairs, all he managed to do was exhale and watch as you pulled at his jeans and briefs and released him.
You gasped as his cock sprung straight up, precum already glistening on the tip.
‘Oh, I didn’t expect you to be hard already?’ you said with some excitement.
‘What can I say, I have been fantasising about you all evening, seeing you in these tight jeans’ Cillian whispered as your fingers wrapped around the shaft while your other hand cupped his balls and squeezed.
‘Have you now?’ you purred without looking away from his cock.
‘You are such a tease Y/N’ Cillian moaned as you started to stroke. Timidly at first but you quickly picked up the pace. You could tell Cillian was getting himself worked up and you knew you didn’t have much time as everyone was waiting upstairs.
Without warning, you leaned forward and took his shaft into the back of your throat, making him gasp.
‘Fuck’ Cillian groaned, no longer caring if anyone heard him. Your mouth around his cock just felt too good.
You moaned and hummed as you bobbed your head and the sound coming from your throat tickled his cock. He wasn't going to last long at this rate and he was holding back another groan as your tongue slid up and down the underside of his shaft rather seductively. Then, your lips were puckering on the tip of his cock, sucking like a vacuum before releasing him with an audible 'pop'.
‘You like that?’ you whispered, kissing the tip and looking up at Cillian with eyes full of lust but, his only reply was a nod as he ran his fingers through your hair.
The truth was that, he couldn’t remember the last time Danielle and him had sex, let alone her pleasuring him with her mouth. It wasn’t her thing and you certainly wouldn’t have pleasured James like this in recent years either. But, you couldn’t get enough of Cillian’s cock. He was just perfect and you enjoyed giving him the pleasure that he deserved.
‘You can fuck his face, I won't gag, remember?’ you eventually said with a wink, lowering your head again.
Cillian was somewhat surprised by your rather dirty request but found some reassurance when your hand came off his balls and found his hand in your hair, pushing downward, encouraging him to stop holding back.
Taking the hint, Cillian bunched your hair up in his fist and slammed his hips upward, bottoming out in your throat with a wet gurgle. You held there for a moment before pulling back with a gasp.
‘Again’ you moaned, excited by how he had his way with you and, just as you requested more, he forced your head back down on his cock.
‘Fuck Y/N, that’s it’ Cillian groaned, plunging his cock in and out of your plump lips over and over again now while your hand was back to squeezing his balls.
‘So fucking good’ Cillian groaned as he took from you what he needed and he couldn't hold on any longer. With one last violent thrust he held your head down and exploded, coating your throat with his seed.
Cillian could feel you swallowing as you moaned and squeezed his balls some more, milking him of every last drop before letting go off his cock and wiping your mouth.
‘Now give me the string for the guitar before anyone files a missing person’s report’ you winked as you stood up and Cillian zipped up his jeans.
***
When you came walking back upstairs, you noticed how drunk James was which didn’t surprise you after the fight you had earlier that day.
Tipsy and in a good mood, he walked over towards you and, just as you took a sip from your wine to flush down the remnants of what you had just done to Cillian in the basement, he took the glass out of your hand and gave you a kiss.
Cillian looked over to you, his eyes widening and chin dropping. He couldn’t help but laugh.
‘James, you are drunk’ you pointed out, pushing him off you quickly with some embarrassment.
‘I just wanted to kiss my wife, can’t I do that?’ James then said and Danielle quickly came over and handed James a glass of water.
‘You guys should stay the night, I think you can’t take him home in this condition’ Danielle suggested and, before you could decline, James agreed and accepted her offer.
‘Good, you can stay in the basement. It’s nice and warm and there is a comfy pull-out lounge and bathroom in case he gets sick’ she said and you thanked her for the offer.
Thankfully, the party didn’t last too much longer and, at around midnight, everyone had left and you made your way downstairs to see how James was coping.
Just as you walked down the last step, your phone buzzed and you received a text message from Cillian.
‘Meet me in the upstairs bathroom at 1am’ it said and you couldn’t help but giggle.
‘Okay xx’ you responded.
----------
The clock on the nightstand hit 1o’clock as you were laying on the pull-out lounge in Cillian’s basement studio with James snoring softly next to you. He had gone to sleep about half an hour ago after throwing up numerous times and you quietly made your way upstairs.
You opened the bathroom door where Cillian was already waiting for you and, without a word you met in an embrace, lips locking and tongues fighting one another in a sloppy kiss.
His chest was against yours as you backed your ass up against the vanity. His hands slid under your butt and you giggled as he lifted you off the ground, wrapping your legs around his waist and grinding your pelvis against his growing erection.
‘Are you going to fuck me?’ you whispered into his ear, your tongue tracing his ear lobe.
He answered with a nod and a groan against your neck, kissing a trail back up to your lips before pulling off your panties, which was the only thing other than a t-shirt which you were wearing.
Cillian then sat you on top of the vanity, facing him before pushing down his boxers.
Your lips never broke contact and, once he freed his cock, it sprang upward and slapped against the soaked mound between your legs.
‘Give it to me Cillian…I want you so fucking badly’ you moaned into his mouth as his hands slid up your t-shirt and cupped your breasts.
‘I've been thinking about having your cock inside of me all night’ you gasped between kisses, causing Cillian to groan.
‘Have you been thinking about fucking me too?’ you continued, your hips grinding against him, your pussy lips sliding along the length of his cock.
‘I have been. Every night, I have to go to the bathroom and make myself cum just thinking about you and how good you feel’ Cillian groaned as your hand snaked between you both and took hold of his girth, aiming it towards your dripping love hole.
‘Hmm, oh god Cillian’ you cried out as he took your cue and pushed himself into you slowly. Your body shook as you took him inch by inch.
‘Cillian, fuck’ you moaned again and almost screamed as your body convulsed against him and your back arched, fingernails digging into his chest through his t-shirt.
‘That was quick’ Cillian whispered and his hand immediately came down on your mouth, covering it as an orgasm swept through you within seconds of him entering you. This is how much you had craved him. You wanted to simply have him inside of you and were aching for him.
‘Holy shit’ you panted, pulling Cillian in for another deep kiss. While you were clawing at his chest again, he began to thrust in and out of you with short strokes and you began taking a little more each time until he hit your cervix.
Cillian could feel your pussy juices leaking onto his balls as he thrusted his hips and you moaned and shuttered as a second orgasm rolled through you after several minutes.
Cillian didn't slow this time and instead quickened his pace, thrusting into you relentlessly. Your hips were gyrating every time your bodies connected, making his cock do circles inside your pussy. It felt fucking magical and Cillian could feel his balls tightening as an orgasm approached, but he wasn't ready to finish.
‘Fuck, hold on, not yet’ he grunted, grabbing your hips and lifting you off the vanity before spinning you around.
You grinned eagerly at this and leaned forward across the vanity, wiggling your apple shaped butt in anticipation as Cillian took position behind you. As Cillian rubbed his cock against your slit you arched your back and raised your ass to give him better access and he teased you with the tip, pushing in a couple of inches before pulling out completely
‘Please Cillian, I need you to fuck me’ you begged and, just as you did, Cillian held your hips and slammed his cock all the way into you. Your bodies collided with a wet slap and you had to reach forward to brace yourself against the vanity.
‘Oh god yes fuck me Cillian’ you groaned, throwing your ass backwards to meet his thrusts while Cillian reached out and took a handful of your pony tail, pulling your head back as he pounded away. The way you would grind into the mirror in front of you every time Cillian bottomed out inside your drove him crazy and quickly brought back his orgasm.
‘Fuck Y/N, I'm gonna cum!’ he groaned.
‘Cum inside me’ you gasped, twisting to look back at him with lust filled eyes. ‘Fill my pussy and let me feel it’ you moaned.
‘Oh god, fuck Y/N’ Cillian groaned, grabbing your ass with two hands as he pulled you into him as his cock erupted inside you. He filled you with spurt after spurt of hot cum as you watched him in the mirror and wiggled your ass against him.
After he came down from his high, Cillian pulled out of you and spinned you around and once again sat you on top of the vanity before inspecting your cum dripping mound.
He stepped closer towards you and made you spread your legs wide before, without any warning, he slid two of his fingers inside you.
‘Oh shit Cillian right there! Oh fuck!’ you screamed as he pinched your g-spot. Within a minute or two of him stimulating your g-spot this way, your body quaked as one last orgasm passed through you.
Cillian held you in this position until you calmed down before pulling his fingers out with a wet slurp and brining them to your mouth.
You grinned and cleaned them up eagerly with your tongue and lips before kissing Cillian passionately, letting him taste the both of you.
‘That was...fucking amazing’ you said in between kisses and, just after your lips drifted apart, Cillian made an admission to you after a rather long and awkward pause.
‘I think that I am in love with you Y/N and I don’t know what to fucking do about it. This…all of it…it’s wrong. Yet, it’s like I can’t resist it. I need to be with you’ Cillian then said after he pulled up his boxers and let his head lean forward against your chest.
‘I feel exactly the same’ you said, causing Cillian to lift up his head and ask again.
‘So, what are we going to do about it, Y/N? We can’t go on like this’ he said and, just as he did, the bathroom door opened suddenly….

♡ how you meet :
you first met Mark at the local bookstore
you were browsing through the fiction section, searching for your next read
as you pursued the shelves, you slid your finger across the spine of the books
until landing on the mystery novel you had been searching for
you removed the book from the shelf and added it to the stack of books you were carrying in your other arm
feeling satisfied with your collection, you proceeded to walk over to the lounge area to review the books
you sat down in a large, green armchair and placed the stack of books next to you on the side table
you picked up the first book, the mystery novel you had been dying to get your hands on, and started reading through the authors note on the inside cover
as you were flipping through the pages, glancing at the chapters, someone tripped over your foot
“oh, my bad”
the boy shyly bowed and apologized
“it’s okay,” you replied nodding back
the boy continued on his way and walked over to the magazine section
there he joined two other boys, you assumed they were friends
you shrugged off the interaction and diverted your attention back to your book
about 10 minutes pass by and you’ve glanced over each book you’ve found
you decided to buy the mystery novel and a YA romance novel
you gathered your things before putting the other books back on the shelf
you were back in the fiction section, your eyes scanning the shelves to find the correct place to put away a sci-fi novel when you heard some muffled giggling behind you
you decided not to turn around and focused on finding the section of books that matched the one you were trying to put away
“Johnny, I’m not gonna talk to her” a boy said in a whispered tone
“you’ve been staring at her this whole time, go talk to her!” encouraged another boy, you assumed it was the boy names Johnny
you tried again to ignore the whispers behind you
that is until you felt a tap on your shoulder
you turned around and were faced with a black-haired blushing boy
you glanced at the two boys behind him who were pretending to be inconspicuous, but failing at it
one boy was tall with auburn hair and held a starbucks cup in his hand
the other was slightly shorter with long blonde hair, is that a mullet?
“I um, ..” the boy in front of you spoke
you returned your gaze back to the shy boy
“I uh, my name’s Mark”
you were still very much confused as to what was going on
you didn’t mean to, but the puzzled look on your face must have given the boy a bad feeling because he said
“I don’t mean to bother you, but I um .. I think you’re really cute”
his ears were bright red and he had trouble looking you in the eye
he was so nervous
it’s charming
“I promise I’m not a bad guy, but um, would you lie to go on um ... a date with me?”
♡ first date :
you guys had been talking for a few days leading up to your date
Mark wanted to make sure you didn’t think he was some sort of weirdo for asking you out in Barnes and Noble
and he wanted you to at least get to know him before going out
and the two of you discussed your schedules and were able to set up a date and time for the two of you to go out
and Mark, being the gentleman that he is, decided to take you to a restaurant for your first date
he wanted to keep things sort of traditional and classy and make you feel special
he’s a softie like that
he really wanted to impress you by dressing nice in a blazer and dress shoes
he wanted to prove that he’s more than just the nervous, giggly guy you found in a bookstore
ugh im so soft
anyway, Mark picks you up and you two head to the restaurant together
once you’re seated at your table, the waiter takes your orders for drinks and appetizers
once she leaves, there’s nothing but silent tension
Mark’s hand flies to the back of his neck, nervously fildeling with the hair behind his head.
“you look really nice” he said, his voice was low
you could sense the anxiousness by his tone
“thanks, you look really nice too” you said, returning the compliment
there was another long pause
“how are your books? I.. I mean the ones you bought last week” Mark asked, he was making an effort to start a conversation
the two of you had no problem talking over text, but the both of you are clearly nervous around each other
was it because both nervous and socially awkward? or was it the sexual tension?
who knows
eventually the awkwardness subsided sort of
Mark was still visibly nervous
he kept rubbing the back of his neck and would stutter every so often
it was cute that he was nervous
but it’s all part of his charm
I mean, that’s the reason you agreed to go out with him in the first place
alright, back to your dinner
you were able to have a decent conversation with him
the two of you discussed your family and friends, your hobbies and interests
nothing too wild
but the whole time, Mark listened to you intently
he would ask questions, furthering your conversation
he seemed genuinely interested in getting to know you and learning about your interests
it was refreshing and sweet
every so often, he would crack a joke
and they were always so cheesy and dorky
but it was cute, so you laughed along
after your meal, Mark had offered to walk you home before it got too late
he wanted to make sure you got home safely
when you arrived at your doorstep, the two of you exchanged goodbye’s
“I had a good time tonight” you said
“I’m glad, so did I” Mark smiled back shyly
you placed a soft peck on his cheek
his cheeks flushed pink and the tip of his ears turned bright red
“Good night beautiful” Mark said, taking ahold of your hand
he leaned in and gently kissed your forehead
♡ living together / couple stuff :
everyday with Mark is an adventure
and I mean that in the best way
Mark is always full of surprises
sometimes he’ll be sitting in the living room and just start strumming his guitar and sing soft ballads and his voice would echo through the house
or you’ll be fixing dinner for the two of you in the kitchen and you’ll hear his infectious laughter from the living room
you and Mark have tons of inside jokes
he’s always making cheesy jokes
like even if his jokes aren’t funny
you’ll still laugh along because he’s just that cute and clueless
sometimes he’ll come home and share stories about his day
like he’ll talk about the producers he met with and the songs he’s been working on with them
and he’ll get super excited too
“babe, I can’t wait for you to hear the finished product”
not that that he wants validation from you, but hearing you praise him for his work and his music really gives him an ego boost
who doesn’t want to hear the love of their life compliment them on their passions?
also, you’re a huge inspiration and muse to him
now not every song he write its written about you, but when it comes to love songs on nct albums or a superm album, you’re always at the forefront of his mind when contributing to love lyrics
he loves adding little nods to your relationship in his music
it’s his way of showing his love for you
but it’s not always in just lyrics, he can also be romantic in his actions
although he can be a little awkward sometimes
he’s just a sweet puppy okay? be gentle with him
Mark is a big cuddle bug
he’s kind of clingy when he returns home from tour and promotions
and he wants to spend as much time with you as possible when his schedule is clear
mornings with Mark are an experience
he absolutely loves to treat you to breakfast in bed
but Mark isn’t the best chef
so he’ll either try his best at making you eggs and toast
or he’ll stop by your favorite cafe and purchase a to-go order
Mark loves making you feel special in any little way he can
but let’s talk about the night time
after dinner, the two of you like to cuddle up and watch the newest kdrama episode on tvN or just watch a random bad movie on Netflix to make fun of
you’ll of course have a big bowl of popcorn and finish it within the first 10 minutes of the movie
and when the movie is over, you’ll walk to your shared bedroom
and cuddle up under the blankets and snuggle into Marks chest
because of course he’s the big spoon
and you’ll interlock fingers
sometimes when neither of you can sleep, Mark encourages you to talk about whatever is on your mind
because sometimes you have too much going on and you mind is just so full that you can’t sleep
Mark is super understanding and just offers his ear to you
he’ll comfort you if there’s anything serious going on
Mark is just super supportive and loves having deep conversations with you
he loves how these deep conversations bring the two of you closer together because it strengthens your trust in one another
♡ arguments :
Mark doesn’t seem like the confrontational type
and the two of you don’t fight often
like I had mentioned before up above, you and Mark tend to tell each other everything
there’s not much that you hide from each other
and you guys have such a strong bond that jealousy doesn’t really affect you both
but that doesn’t mean that life stresses can’t affect you
now we all know that we tend to take out our frustrations on the people we love
so I feel like most of the bumps in your relationship could be related to the stresses from work and everyday life
like sometimes you just have a bad day at work
you boss is in a mood and takes it out on you, so you bring home that frustration and eventually take it out on Mark
even though you don’t mean to
another example may be the stress about your public relationship with him as an idol
obviously if you received hate, it might have an effect on your actions towards your boyfriend
you become distant and closed off a bit
the comments say that you don’t deserve someone like Mark, and even though you know they’re wrong that doesn’t mean their words don’t hurt
and when Mark realizes how closed off you’ve been, he’ll try to talk with you about it
of course he won’t force you to talk about things until you’re ready
but Mark can be a little fragile, and the fact that you’ve been distant would hurt him
and when he hears that you’ve been doubting that you’re worthy of his love really hurts him
he’ll comfort you and rub the tears from your face
seeing you cry just breaks his heart
♡ sexy time :
okay, now I’ve said this before, but Mark is a soft dom, possibly a switch
listen, don’t cancel me
I feel like Mark puts on a show that he’s super kinky
and his lyrics from ‘whiplash” and ‘drippin’ are proof of that
but when it comes down to the wire, I think he’s actually kind of nervous at first
sex with Mark for the first time is a sweet experience
of course, y’all aren’t going to jump straight into choking on the first night
Mark is a gentleman
a good christian boy
Mark is a soft dom for your first time
he’s very gentle and he takes his time, making sure that you’re comfortable and satisfied every step of the way
he places kisses all over your body, making sure he pays attention to every inch of your body
Mark pays attention to every moan and whimper that falls from your precious lips
he’ll leave love bites and markings in all your sensitive spots
his thrusts are slow and deep, making it easier for you to feel every inch of him completely fill you
I can’t see Mark finishing inside you for the first time, but creampies are definitely something he’s into
*cough* drippin by nct dream and drop by superm *cough*
he really likes creampies
but once the two of you get comfortable with each other and settle into your relationship, that’s when the kinks come out
I would say that Mark is open to experimenting in bed
and even though the both of you are comfortable with each other, Mark is still slightly awkward when talking about sex with you
it’s just who he is
when it comes to trying out things that you’re interested in, that’s when I feel like Mark would take the backseat
he’d sub on those nights
it’s just easier for you to take control when doing things that you’re interested in
but when it comes to you wanting Mark to choke you or spank you, I feel like he would be a little hesitant at first
he just doesn’t want to hurt you
he’s not sure how strong his grip should be around your throat
he’s not sure how hard he should spank you
what level of pain did you want to receive?
but once he saw your response and heard your begging, he’ll start to get into it
he’ll thrust into you hard and fast, his grip around your throat will tighten
he watches as your eyes roll back in pure pleasure, until you finally climax and cry out his name in ecstasy
he loves watching you cum all over him
I can see him wanting to try out cockwarming, but he’s somewhat nervous when brining it up to you
cockwarming is something the two of you do when you’re cuddling after sex
of something that you do in the morning when it’s cold outside and you just want to cozy up and share each other’s warmth
it’s an intimate thing that Mark’s been interested in trying out, and sharing moments like that with you would be pretty meaningful for him

A dark, dim evening, the sun had just set, bits of the dusky orange sky shone through the maze of power lines, chimneys, rooftops and posts. As Jeno was walking down an empty tucked away backstreet, he felt like he set foot on a hidden crossroad between two worlds. The feeling of the unknown and the unexplored sent shivers down his spine and he quickened his pace, as he did not wish to get held up at here any longer than necessary. He told his manager he just wanted to grab something warm to eat and stretch his legs a little, but the truth was… He wanted to be alone.
Not so long ago Jeno realised he has a very rare gift – a gift of invisibility. Wherever he’d go, no matter how many people surrounded him, he felt unseen and unnoticed. Jeno, we need you to voice over this ad. Jeno, we need you to shoot a dance video. Jeno, we need you to smile for the photos. No, no, do the thing with your eyes, yes. Oh, you’re still here? We don’t need anything now. Sorry, were you saying something? Listen I gotta go, talk to you later maybe? Everyone knows Jeno the idol, but how many people have heard of Jeno the person? How many people remember Jeno the friend from school, Jeno the boy next door? What’s the point of rushing back into dorms, if he’s going to feel all the same? At least at here I can hear my own thoughts for a change. Without having to fight to get a word in. Noone’s interested in what you have to say anyway, so be a man, Jeno, and go sulk somewhere where people don’t have to look at your sorry face. Hmm, jjamppong sounds nice.
He walked where his feet led him, hands in the pockets of his coat, eyes staring blankly on the passing pavement tiles, red tiles, black tiles, grey tiles, shapes and figures, forms and contours. His mind unfocused, his thoughts scattered. Stop. Wait. Like in a dream, he saw himself standing in front of a narrow door, black paint flaking away, a few variously shaped and randomly placed yellow window panes, a big brass handle waiting to be pulled. He noticed a little oval plaque in his field of vision and the next thing he knew, he was standing in the middle of a bookshop. A minute passed, maybe ten, maybe an hour. Jeno glanced around, scratching his head. „Uh… good evening!“ He bowed his head a little, even though he didn’t see anyone at the counter. Nevertheless, he felt like he’s being watched, scrutinized, evaluated. Something was staring at him and Jeno suddenly wished that he was invisible again. He turned his head to where he felt the uncomfortable feeling coming from and there it was - behind the desk, on the left side of the wall, squished between large overflowing bookcases, right next to a tall wooden coat-stand shaped like an old tree - a red door with a big round opened eye painted on it. The door was opened, just a few centimetres, and a faint piano music was coming from inside. Come in, if you dare.
Tumblr media
Jeno cleared his throat. Might as well look around properly, before they come back out. It’s no use of shouting or trying to make myself heard while that song is still playing. Listening to the melancholic but somewhat promising tune, Jeno inspected the surroundings. The shop looked messy and untidy. Chaos was the king of this castle, carelessness the lady of this household and together they ruled over their tiny land made of heaps of books, magazines and papers haphazardly placed on each other, shelves full of postcards and pictures, walls covered with ornaments and embellishments. Without a single tag or label in sight, Jeno wondered how could anyone find anything in here. He imagined the miscellaneous objects flowing into the shop and never leaving again. His gaze landed on a flashy pink paper packet filled with chewing gums in a no less showy wrapper on one of the shelves. Cool, a freebie! He reached for the gum, unpacked it and threw it into his mouth only to immediately pull a disgusted face as he chewed into the candy. It was like biting into a tasteless rubber. He spit it back out into the crumpled wrapper, put it next to the rest of the unused gums and set out to look for a trash can. He tripped on the thick dusty carpet and nearly stepped on something that looked rather expensive. This must be a bookshop with super rare prints and antiquities of some kind, this isn’t a place for me, I don’t fit in here, I should leave. And so, he stayed, bound in the place by a force of increasing curiosity he did not quite understand.
The piano stopped playing. Perfect, now’s my chance. „Hello? You, uh, have a customer! Heh…“ he stuttered awkwardly. Jeno wasn’t the type of a person who would enjoy excessive attention. If he ever tried to voice his opinion and was met with disregard or unconcern, he would simply think it was because his opinion on that matter was stupid and pointless. That’s why he was fairly used to this, not being heard. The only difference was that usually the rest of the members would fill the room with their chatter, so his lack of involvement in the group activities would normally go unnoticed. Unlike here, where the only sound was a deathly silence and Jeno’s thoughts humming in his head. He already spoke twice, what more does he need to do to be heard? Raise his voice? I just want to buy a book and get out of here. He took a deep breath and opened his mouth to speak and right at that moment, the piano started playing again.
„Wha-, are you kidding me?“ he mumbled quietly under his breath. He looked around, confused, as if he was looking for understanding and sympathy from the other angry customers waiting for their turn to be served. He was the only one here and yet they’re making him wait. What is this, a private concert? Did they possibly saw him coming? Did they think that they’ll impress him with playing lowkey creepy piano melodies? This better not be a prank. He really wasn’t in the mood for fans and he didn’t think he could fake a smile at this hour. But he didn’t notice any hidden cameras, or any security cameras at all for that matter. He paced around the room nervously, scratching his neck. That’s it, I’m leaving. I don’t need that book anyway. I don’t need anything. If they don’t want me here, that’s okay, I’ll do just fine on my own.
He made a few strides towards the front door and then turned around again. „Hellooo! I came here to ask about books! Books that you happen to be selling!“ he raised his voice to the most pleading yet still polite level. The piano stopped again and Jeno gazed hopefully at the red door. He started walking back to the counter, slowly, carefully, as if he didn’t want to scare off the possibility of finally being served. He leaned on the desk, ready to place his order, tapping his fingers impatiently on the dark wooden surface. And just like that, as if it wanted to laugh directly into Jeno’s face, the piano started playing yet another tune, as impatient as Jeno himself. He pursed his lips and bent his head down. What the heck is this place, huh? A bookstore or a concert venue? At least serve some coffee and cake next time! He could just leave, never come back and forget about this place. But he really needed that book, he’s been looking for it so long, and he knew, he just knew, that this is the right place to look for it.
Tumblr media
„Alright!“ Jeno raised his head and pointed his index finger to the door, from which the music was coming. „I’m going in there! And I’m going to knock real loud, so you better not be scared or surprised or angry!“ I doubt they can hear me, he thought, as the music only grew louder and louder. Okay, here we go… He approached the door behind the counter, cautiously, and with his finger still pointing forwards he tapped on the red wood with his nail a few times, gingerly, like he was expecting the door to bite his hand, after a while he shook his head and finally made a few feeble knocks. He put his head inside with a quiet: „Excuse me…“ and peeped into the backroom. As soon as his foot touched the threshold, the music stopped playing and Jeno opened the door wide. The room was small and empty, safe for the piano by the wall. No other door, windows, cabinets, electrical appliances, boxes, merchandise, not even trash. Just four bare walls and the damn piano that he swore was playing just a mere second ago.
Jeno gulped, his hand on the doorknob, his feet midstep, his whole body ready to run in the even that something would go wrong. Now now, be brave. „Hello?“ his voice was dry, hoarse and small. Goosebumps covered his nape. „Oh! A customer!“ said a voice behind him. „JESUS CHRIST!“ Jeno nearly fell back onto the ground, as he made several hurried steps backwards, tripping over boxes, books and papers, knocking over the tree coat-stand which embraced him in its patulous grip, making him feel trapped. „Can I help you?“ said the voice and as Jeno’s ragged breath started to decelerate again and as the stars stopped dancing in front of his eyes, only now he saw a pale face hovering in the shadows of the dimly lit place. The initial shock was over and, gradually, the face grew hair, and connected with a torso, arms and legs. „I…“ Jeno stuttered as he finally untangled himself from the clasp of the coat-stand and stood straight, „came here to buy a book.“ He clutched his hand near his heart and blinked hard for a few times. Get a grip, man, get a grip. „Then you’re in the right place! After all, this is a bookstore and we store all kinds of books,“ smiled the face that no longer resembled a ghost, but a person. „I’ve been… waiting here for 15 minutes… at least.“ He tried to sound angry, but the truth was he wasn’t really sure of how much time he actually spent here. Oh my god. A thought just crossed his mind. What if they’re already closed and I didn’t notice and just practically barged in here demanding to be served?!?! He wiped his forehead and opened his mouth to apologize for his intrusion, but before he could say anything, the figure in front of him spoke again. „Gosh, but I didn’t hear or see you at all!“ said the person, covering their red coloured lips with their hand. Typical. „I… tried to…“ Jeno sighed. If they didn’t hear me, I should have made more effort I guess. „I apologize, I’m sorry for the inconvenience I caused you.“ He bowed his head slightly. The person, dressed in a silky black dress that rustled with every step, fixed their dark eyes on Jeno’s apologetic face and shook their head disappointedly. They passed Jeno, who hurriedly backed out of their way, bumping into the red door, oh, I could have sworn the eye was open. huh, weird, and started to rummage through the bookshelves and bookcases, opening drawers and cabinets, dancing around all the clutter with their feet bare, without knocking over a single thing.
„So?“ asked the bookstore owner, combing through a particularly overflowing drawer. „Sorry?“ „Which book are you looking for?“ Jeno resisted the urge to facepalm himself and laughed nervously instead. „Ah, the book…“ Wait, the book? What book? „Umm… the book,“ he frowned. Why is he here again? He finished his schedule, yes, and then got out of the car sooner than the rest, because…? Because I wanted to buy a book? Uhh… I guess? „Um, yeah, I was hoping to get a book about the history of-“ „Hey!“ the character was now standing in the middle of the room, their arms crossed in an irritated manner, the long red painted nails tapping angrily. „Did you eat my chewing gum?“ You IDIOT! And you even left the wrapper and the actual gum right there on the shelf, ugh! „I’m really sorry,“ Jeno started apologizing at the double, „it was just sitting there, I thought-“ „How did it taste?“ asked the owner. „Um…“ Jeno blinked a few times and frowned. „Weird,“ he answered, looking down at his feet, like he was feeling guilty and disappointed at the same time. „I remember really liking this brand and it surprised me that is tasted so… stale,“ he answered truthfully. The woman sighed. „No wonder. It’s a special edition, a collectible. It’s been sitting here for five years. And now it’s ruined.“ She took the whole package in her hands and shook her head, discontented. Who the hell stores a pack of freaking chewing gums? „I guess I should have treated it better, maybe all the exposure made it tasteless and bland.“ She clicked her tongue. „What a shame. But at least the wrapping is still colourful and pretty to look at.“ „Uh… yeah. Sorry about that.“ She put the gums back in place and resumed with the thorough scouring of the area. „What book did you say you wanted?“ Oh, yeah, the book. The damn book again. „Ah, yeah, um… I was interested in the techniques of-“ „How about this one?“ The woman, currently kneeling down by one of the huge bookcases, proposed. Jeno stared at her, eyes wide. She reached under the furniture, scrabbled and felt around a bit, until she triumphantly retrieved a blue hardback tome. Just what is going on in here?
Tumblr media
Jeno watched the woman get up again, dust down her knees with a sigh, and then walk back behind the counter. She put the book on the desk and Jeno finally got a good look. The jacket was dusty, creased and torn in a few places. There were no pictures or details, it was just… blue. „Sound…” he read out loud. „Sound?“ Jeno raised an eyebrow. „That’s the title, yes.“ „It looks like a… heavy reading.“ He took the book in his hands to weigh it, it must be at least 500 pages long. „And pretty expensive.“ „It’s a poetry book, if you’re worried about the pages. And you don’t have to pay me for it.“ „Ah, I-… Wait, what? You don’t want me to pay you for it?“ „No, because I am not selling it to you. I’ll only let you borrow it. I‘ve always wanted to read it, because I am curious about the story, but… Do you sometimes get the feeling, be it a book, a movie, a photograph, or even a new pair of shoes, that it’s calling out to you? And when you finally get it, it’s like it’s your missing puzzle piece that you didn’t even know you need and it makes you complete?“ „I… guess, yeah.“ But not really, no. I can’t remember the last time I had this feeling. „Well, turns out, this book doesn’t complete me.“ She packed it in a plain paper bag and sealed it with a decorative tape. „But it might complete you,“ the owner said expectantly, sliding the wrapped book towards Jeno. He touched the paper and for a while, the room drowned in complete silence and time stopped, like a movie that froze and only showed a single frame. A frame with a book wrapped in a plain paper bag in the center, a woman’s hand with red fingernails touching it on the right, a man’s veined hand touching it on the left. Jeno’s hand.
He moved his fingers the tiniest bit and with them, the book. His body was immediately hit with a wave of electricity, the time unfroze and Jeno sighed heavily, leaning against the counter, like he just ran a hurdle race. „Will that be all?“ asked the owner with a kind smile. „I… can’t just take it.“ „You already did.“ She pointed towards the book Jeno was hugging anxiously, like he was afraid someone would steal it from him. He looked down, sighed again and finally stood up straight again. „I can’t take it for free. Even though I’m just borrowing it. How do you know I won’t run off with it?“ „Are you a thief?“ „No, but… I could be!“ „Well, in that case… How about you leave something behind then, like a pledge? I quite like the ring of yours,“ she pointed on Jeno’s hand, which he quickly pulled away. „That’s… it’s not anything fancy, and it’s bent, twisted… it’s worthless.“ „I’ll lend you a thing that’s worthless to me and you’ll lend me a thing that’s worthless to you. That’s a fair deal I’d say.“ She held out her hand. Jeno hesitated. What will the others think when he comes back without his friendship ring? They probably won’t even notice. „Alright…“ he took off the ring and rolled it around for a bit in his hand. Then, with a guilty feeling, he placed it in the owner’s hand, immediately regretting his decision. „Thank you for your purchase, have a nice day and see you whenever!“ he heard the woman say with a smile, pocketing the ring quickly. Then the door behind him shut with a loud bang and he was staying outside, with a book he didn’t know he needed and without a ring he didn’t remember wearing.

I was tagged by @crunchyspicysalmon, thank you a real ton!! 🌼
1. Are there any songs that make you cry? What are they? Do you have a specific memory with them?
Come Away Melinda by Uriah Heep and To Susan on the West Coast Waiting by Donovan made me cry a few times. No specific memory, they are just sad songs.
2. Do you like wearing jewelry? If so, what type/style?
I actually love wearing jewelry, as long as it's not too much. I like simple but pretty necklaces and cool rings the most. Wearing jewelry I can play with is very comforting to me.
3. Do you believe that there is another human “out there” for you to love and for them to love you? This doesn’t necessarily mean romanticly.
Not just one. I believe I am destined to meet every single person I meet in my life, and they all have an important role in it. Not necessarily for us to love each other, but in some cases that probably is the purpose.
4. What’s your ideal aesthetic like?
As warm and summery as possible! Sun, golden light, soft breeze, sparkling water, sitting outside in the full moon....
5. How do you prefer to listen to your music?
Loud, if no one's nearby. Otherwise annoying others makes me nervous so I prefer listening with a headphone at home and earphone on say public transport.
6. What do you think about spirituality?
I'm not sure... I do have some sort of spiritual beliefs, and I think they make my life a lot happier, but I don't really care if someone isn't spiritual, or is spiritual in a different way. What bothers me is when people try to push their own spirituality on others.
7. Do you ever daydream? Care to say what they’re about?
I suppose I do. But they are more often than not daynightmares. I'm more often daydreaming when I'm feeling a bit off. I've had a very vivid daynightmare about collapsing on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere and hitting my head on the asphalt, and a puddle of blood forming... Yeah, that kinda stuff...
8. If you could ever go back in time where in the world would you go and what time would it be?
Late 60s USA! I think I'm at just the right age to enjoy Woodstock to the fullest, haha. Or Meiji period Japan... Just for the aesthetic honestly? And curiosity, that's a really interesting mixture of cultural influences going on there.
9. Do you have any role models? Who are they and why?
Not quite role models, but there's people I look up to for certain things, and I suppose I try to achieve something on their level too. Some of these people are my man, my mom and my brother. But I also believe there is something they might be able to learn from me. Otherwise why am I in their lives?
10. What do you want to create in this world? What do you think needs to be created?
I just want to create art. I want to create beauty and give meaning to it. As for what needs to be created, I suppose as many different things as possible. Abundance of creation enriches our world.
11. How do you usually find new music?
Nowadays it's mainly Spotify and YouTube recommendations, but if my man puts on a song or album I don't know but like I'll of course ask what it is.
12. What are you proud of, but never have an excuse to talk about?
I don't need an excuse, if I'm proud of something I will sure as hell blabber on and on about it.
13. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
I never know the answer to this question and it comes up surprisingly often. I guess I just don't want any dinner guests.
14. What do you think the world will be like in ten years?
Thinner screens, cars with smarter AI, heavier surveillance over our lives, once again a general sense of progress with steps made further into space, stores that only accept debit/credit card and no cash all over Europe, subcultures that aim to not look and not be perfect on the rise... That's what comes to mind.
15. What’s something new you learned today?
Apparently the local madman is now a security guard at the subway.
16. Have you ever been to a concert? If so, what is the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Sure, having done volunteer work at festivals I got to see a few for free! My favourite was probably King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard on Sziget festival 2018, these guys are even better live than on their studio recordings. I'm glad to have seen them back then, I dislike their recent albums, and they probably play a lot of songs from those now. Uriah Heep in February this year was really memorable too those guys played music with such enjoyment!!
17. What makes you feel supported?
Depends on what I'm supposed to feel supported at... For example I'd feel supported at my art, if someone were to show what I created to someone else. I feel supported in sharing my thoughts when someone gives me space to speak. So I suppose small but clear ways to help are what make me feel supported the most?
18. Do you have your favorite fictitious character? If so, who is it and why?
Paprika from Paprika. I know she's technically fictional in a way even in the story, and she could not exist without the fundamentally different real life version of herself... But I suppose in some sense out of her two selves, she's the one who lives free. Plus, she a dream girl, haha. Aand I love her vibes.
19. What music puts you in a good mood?
I'm not sure, depends... But The Shadows, The Yardbirds and The Rolling Stones usually help to elevate my mood!
20. Where’s the weirdest place you’ve found something that you lost?
I lost my mom's scarf at a bookstore once. I went back to ask if anyone found it, but no luck. I had to listen to my mom scold me for it for a week or so. Eventually it turned out the scarf was in the sleeve of my jacket - the jacket I wore to school every day - all along.
I tag anyone who wants to do this!! 🌻

★☆♡♥♦ൠ for my boys Shino and Sai? Maybe Gaara and Hinata too? Sorry if this is alot
Shino
★ - sad headcanon
When Shino’s upset he doesn’t show it. He internalizes it and anyone looking would just assume he’s his normal stoic self. He’s definitely a bit broody and when he’s sad he’d prefer to be alone.
☆ - happy headcanon
Shino is happiest when, you guessed it, he’s surrounded by his insects. One of his favorite things to do is categorize them. Literally nothing makes him happier than spending his time doing that. He even names them. Like he remembers every single one. Idk how but it just makes him to happy to do it.
♡ - romantic headcanon
He’s clueless when it comes to romance. Doesn’t know a thing about it. What is flirting? Shino doesn’t know. He’s awkward and would rather just stay silent than talk to his crush. He’d have to swallow his pride and ask Kiba all these questions, and then question Kiba’s common sense because do you really pretend your yawning to put your arm around your crush Kiba that doesn’t sound right. He’s hopeless.
♥ - family headcanon
I think Shino would be very close with his father. His father was the one to teach him all about insects and he has fond memories as a child of him and his dad going to search for bugs with his dad watching fondly as Shino ran around with a butterfly net. Shino was a cute kid y’all. And as Shino grew up he stayed very close with his dad, who supports him in everything he does.
♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon
A quirk that Shino has is that every morning before he gets out of bed, he has to count to thirty. It’s his way of bracing himself for the day, especially when he knows he has to deal with a lot of people. He gives himself that thirty seconds of preparation before getting out of bed in the morning.
ൠ - random headcanon
He can’t stand the cold. At all. So to prevent himself from getting the shivers, he always bundles up, even if it’s like 90 degrees outside this boy is in a jacket, pants, he might even have gloves on and you bet he’ll be wearing layers. It’s unnatural af.
Sai
★ - sad headcanon
When Sai is sad, it comes from his feelings of emptiness and loneliness. His biggest fear is being left alone and abandoned. When in a group setting, if he feels like he’s not really apart of it, if they are ignoring him (whether subconsciously or they actually are) he just wants to fade into the background and he will leave to be by himself. Sai doesn’t have to put up with that. But he doesn’t really fall into self pity, he’ll shirk it off pretty quick and go back to his smiley self if confronted over why he left. He just doesn’t like feeling that way, like he’s not even there to people. He doesn’t deserve it.
☆ - happy headcanon
Engaging Sai in conversations about his art makes this boy glow with happiness. He can ramble about his art for hours so please, do it. He will be a blushing, giddy mess if you complement his drawings like wow he’s so cute and appreciative of it. When he’s talking about things that make him happy he’s just so smiley and radiates happiness, like make this boy’s day and let him ramble to you.
♡ - romantic headcanon
Sai is very by the book when it comes to romance. At first, he never really knew what to do, until he consulted the romance section of his local bookstore. He legitimately takes all of his ideas about romance straight from sappy romance novels. So yes, you will get fancy candlelight dinners, and walks under the moonlight, and rose petals covering the bed, because that’s what Sai is convinced what romance is.
♥ - family headcanon
Shin was the only family that Sai had ever known. Whenever there was a festival going on in town, Shin would convince Sai to sneak away from wherever Danzo was keeping them and go and enjoy the festival. These were some of Sai’s fondest memories growing up because he and his brother could act like the children they actually were, playing games, eating good food, watching the festivities. Looking back on those memories, they glow with a shiny fondness.
♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon
Sai is nothing but quirky. He does this thing where he rehearses full on conversations in the mirror, pretending to be in different situations, filling in what the other person would say, etc. These conversation can go on for a full thirty minutes. Like he’s for real. He also totally practices different facial expressions in the mirror too. He wants to know what he looks like when he’s smiling, laughing, scowling, etc. so that he can make the “perfect expression.”
One of Sai’s hobbies, besides painting/drawing, is practicing calligraphy. He has super good handwriting and he loves to just sit down and copy different texts into his absolutely beautiful handwriting. He finds it so relaxing and a way to be doing something without much effort.
ൠ - random headcanon
He loves being amongst nature. Not only does it fuel his creativity, but it makes him feel very peaceful. He’ll wake up early, even on his days off, to go for a morning stroll through a garden or even a wooded area, soaking up the silence and the early morning radiance of the world just waking up. It starts his day off right and when he doesn’t do this in the morning he tends to be grumpier.
Gaara
★ - sad headcanon
Pls don’t make this cinnamon roll sad. He’s too precious. He’s the type to isolate himself. He also has that single tear aesthetic going on. But he will cut himself off from literally everyone when he’s feeling particularly down. He doesn’t want to talk about it, doesn’t want any mention of it. He’s an internalizer of his pain and doesn’t want to burden anyone with it. Eventually he’ll work himself out, normally he has to go out in the desert and work out his emotions by himself there. What he does is a mystery to everyone but him.
☆ - happy headcanon
Gaara loves hugs. Almost nothing makes him happier. He was so touch starved for most of his childhood, that literally any form of physical affection makes him so, so happy like he’s just glowy and smiley for the rest of the day when someone gives him a big hug.
♡ - romantic headcanon
Gaara is more cutesy than romantic. He loves holding his s/o’s hand, especially when they’re out in public. He also loves kissing their knuckles. He blushes so hard. Also nose kisses. Yes. He’s a cutiepie.
♥ - family headcanon
So obviously, when Gaara got older he became much closer to his two siblings. He has a very teasing relationship with Konkurow. Like they’re always on each other about one thing or another, but it’s all in good fun. Especially because Konkurow is very protective of Gaara. And so is Temari but in a much more obvious way. She is sort of Gaara’s mother figure, especially because she is the eldest sibling. They have a very good dynamic, Temari’s always reminding Gaara of things he’s forgotten and Gaara always manages to make Temari smile no matter what kind of day she’s having, he always brightens her mood.
♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon
Gaara really likes gardening. He’s got an army of succulents and cacti. They litter his office and his bedroom to the point that both Temari and Konkurow have said that he doesn’t have room for more. Gaara ignores this and goes and buys like 20 more to take care of. He’s got an amazing green thumb. He often volunteers in Suna’s greenhouses, and he’s somehow able to tend to plants that even professionals have a difficult time cultivating to make it so the plants are now thriving. It’s a wonder to everyone who works in the greenhouses. They don’t know how he does it.
ൠ - random headcanon
Gaara is 100% band from entering sand sculpture competitions. It just wouldn’t be fair considering he can bend the sand to any shape with his will. So no participating in sand sculpture competitions for him. But he will be a judge. And he’s very critical, except when he’s judging a kids competition. Then he always gives everyone a solid 8/10 because how could he judge children? They all have such potential. He’s a softy.
Hinata
★ - sad headcanon
Hinata is a crier. Whenever she’s sad, she tries to get as far away from prying eyes and just let the tears flow. She really can’t help it. She curls up in a ball, holding herself makes her feel better. And after she’s had a good cry, most of the bad feelings have left her, like she’s expelling all of that negativity through her tears.
☆ - happy headcanon
The littlest kind gestures make Hinata so happy. Oh you held the door open for her, you’ll receive the biggest smile. Oh, you helped her pick up something she dropped, again you are graced by an angelic smile. It just puts her in such a good mood for the rest of the day to witness any good deed being done.
♡ - romantic headcanon
Hinata is a hopeless romantic. So when she finds herself in situations that she had fantasized about for years, like a cute date, or finally kissing her s/o, she becomes a blushing mess, like as red as a tomato. She becomes so flustered it’s adorable. She also has all these ideas in her head that she herself tries to make happen, but she always ends up “messing up” aka it coming off as perfect and romantic, and then feels bad. Her s/o has to explain that everything she did was perfect and then she becomes a stuttering, blushing mess again.
♥ - family headcanon
Hinata didn’t always have such a great relationship with her dad, he was very hard on her during her childhood, until he had a change of heart and accepted her for the person she was, not who he wanted her to be. Now he’s extremely doting on her, but a little less protective of her, he lets her do her own thing. But he’s her shoulder to lean on and her comfort always and he loves when Hinata comes to consult with things going on in her life.
Hinata and Hanabi get along very well. Hanabi is also very protective of her big sister, she gets very fierce if she sees anyone disrespecting Hinata in any way. Hinata taught Hanabi how to crochet and they bond over crafting and they are their going out to eat partners. Hinata loves to go clothes shopping with Hanabi and pick out outfits for her little sister to try that the younger girl would never pick for herself. Hinata loves to get Hanabi little gifts whenever she goes shopping alone too.
♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon
She love to crochet, and along with that Hinata is very crafty in general. Also she’s great at baking. One of her favorite things to make is chocolates. She makes them in really cute shapes and likes to get creative with them. Her favorite thing is to make things for her friends and loved ones, so you bet for special occasions they are getting knitted sweaters with cute saying stitched on them, long crochet scarves, and homemade chocolates.
ൠ - random headcanon
Hinata is really good with small animals, like kittens, bunnies, birds, small dogs (though akamaru is the only big dog she is comfortable around). They always just find her and she could pet them for hours and hours. She sometimes takes strays home (to her father’s chagrin) and takes care of them for a while until finding them a good home.

Questions
Where is Emily?  The last time we saw her hanging around Ben was on the 2nd of December, 2016 at the Sky Women In Film And TV Awards.
How come no one’s ever spotted Ben buying anything for either of the pillows?  Does he wear his special disguise when going into department / toy stores?
Why did Sophie Hunter wear a maternity-friendly gown when she escorted Ben to the Jaeger-Lecoultre event despite the fact that she's as whippet-thin as ever?
Whatever happened to the unblurred, HD pics from the pap set taken on the 31st of October 2016 at JFK airport?
Are we ever going to get to see a picture of Ben, Weirdo, Pilo and Pilo 2.0 in the frame, in HD, with all of their faces unblurred, looking like a normal human family?  Extra points if Weirdo isn’t smiling straight into the paparazzo lens.
Has Pilo 2.0 been christened yet?   If so, have the paparazzi stopped camping outside Mottistone regardless of the fact that it’s such a celebrity hotspot?
When are we going to be treated to what Ben’s heroic wife has been constantly hard at work on since before the summer of 2016?
When was the last time Letters Live divulged information regarding what percentage of their earnings go to charitable causes?
Will Gambles be performing music on any London street corners this week?  If so, will Weirdo be contributing to his worthy cause?
How does AnythingBatch spend her time nowadays?
How do the team of die-hard Weirdo fans that were running SHC spend their time nowadays?
Where is Pilo?
Where is Pilo 2.0?
Wasn’t Pilo 2.0 supposed to have “alien eyes like Ben”?  All I see on the Heath pap op disaster is a baby with perfectly generic, normal human eyes.
Whatever happened to the Red Ribbon Stalker?
Whatever happened to Sophie Hunter’s logo?  It’s been almost two years since it appeared on the internet, only to be removed from circulation less than 24 hours later, and we never heard anything about it ever again…
Why has Ben never supported any of Weirdo’s projects?
Why was Ben photographed escorting a blonde woman at the National Theatre on August 20th of 2014, 2 months and a half after the showmance with Weirdo had been launched at the French Open on June 8th of 2014?
Why can’t anything involving Weirdo and her “art” be straightforward?  (LINK to the question which includes multiple sub-questions)
Since Ben is hounded by the paparazzi and they obviously know all three of his addresses in London, why hasn't a single pap ever photographed Weirdo going in or coming out of any one of Ben's houses in the past 4 years?
Why did Ben walk The Imitation Game red carpet without Sophie Hunter by his side at the London Film Festival on the 8th of October, 2014?  Sophie Hunter was there and dressed for success after all.
Why were the interns working for SHC blurring Ben out of pictures when they were (still) trying to sell clothes and shoes?
Why does Weirdo not have a speaking part in this Showmance?
Why was Weirdo creating mood board(s) for a wedding gown which came straight off the rack, and photographed for Vogue wearing a wedding gown that didn’t match the one she was wearing on her wedding day (which came off a collection that was a year old by that time)?
Why is Weirdo the exception to every gestation rule known to humanity?
Why has Ben’s name been removed from the list of producers for The Current War on IMDb?
Since there was no public notice, how did the paparazzi know to set up camp at Mottistone on the IoW for Pilo’s Christening? Setting aside the fact that it’s a celebrity hot spot of course.
Why was Weirdo smiling at the paps both times (March and October of 2016) Pilo was photographed by paparazzi in NYC?
What was the reason behind all the fluffing of Sophie Hunter’s CV?
Why was Weirdo on holidays with friends during the summer of 2014 instead of Ben?
Why was Weirdo re-introduced to the world* in the fall of 2017, with no work to follow it up?  (LINK)
Why did Weirdo yank Ben’s arm to put it around her shoulder while posing for the paps, but pushed him and his arm away from her as soon as she thought the cameras weren’t rolling anymore during a pap walk?  (LINK)
Has Weirdo taken her husband’s last name or not?  If so, why has no publication ever used it?  If not, why did People run that article back in the day?
Why did Ben, who once said during an interview "there are rooms in my head not made for public consumption” suddenly become so open about his private life since he started his Oscar campaign in 2014?
Why was Ben giving weird quotes to ELLE about how important it is “to be able to have some fun with your currency” in 2014?
Since Ben and Weirdo had known each other for 17 years before they got engaged and have been together for... only Harvey knows how long, why had Guy Garvey, the singer of Elbow who is a dear friend to Ben, never met Weirdo before the wedding at the IoW?  (LINK)
Why did SunnyMarch go into a “bidding war” (according to a Nonny who claimed to work for Picador:  LINK and LINK) to secure the rights to a book that was being sold at 50% off, the minute it hit bookstore shelves?
Why are there never any sightings of Weirdo and the pillows in London when Ben’s out of the country alone?
Why is Weirdo allowed to have a previous long term relationship listed on her Wikipedia page, but Olivia has been erased from Ben’s?   Will "they" erase her when they get divorced?
Why did Ben try to issue a kill order for a picture of his motorcycle parked outside his new property in London but not the 8 HD pictures of his firstborn son’s face taken in NYC?  I’m asking about these two particular sets because the motorcycle pic was never published by any media outlet, and the unblurred version of the NYC pics were never touched by any publication either.
Why wasn’t Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch’s name printed correctly on the engagement announcement for The Times?
Why was Ben on the verge of tears when asked about the announcement of his engagement to Weirdo during his interview with Good Morning America?  (LINK)
Why did a teacher (who’s linked to Weirdo) break the law by reporting on social media about Pilo and Ben attending one of her classes? (LINK)
Why did Ben’s mom ask Caitlin Moran to find her son a bird in 2013 if he was already in a relationship with Weirdo? (LINK)
Why hasn’t Ben tried to set up a directing / screenwriting / acting gig for his heroically hard working wife on one of the projects he’s worked on during the past 4 years?  She could have directed his Hamlet, adapted the screenplay for The Grinch, played Eurus Holmes on Sherlock, etc.  Why waste so many opportunities to share her boundless talent with the world?
Why did Sophie Hunter resort to plagiarizing an academic’s essay on Beckett to put together an article for The Guardian in July of 2015?
Why don’t Ben’s friends mention him on social media anymore?
If Skeptics are so vile, why don’t Ben’s friends defend him on social media?  Especially considering his latest quote about being well aware of what everyone says about him on social media and assuming he’s so bothered by it all.
Weirdo’s resume, such as it is, features a few bit parts and the occasional vanity project.  Where is the long, hard slog of crap work?  Every artist, from those who have not been discovered to Beyonce, has a long string of unglamorous obscure work that they took to stay in the business.  For many artists, that’s most of their careers: shooting commercials so they can afford to make the movie they love. Singing jingles while they wait to hear from the major producer.  We have not seen that with Weirdo. Not by a long shot.
If Ben travels with his family and is never without them, why has no one ever spotted the entire family at any airport travelling together since Pilo 2.0 was born a year and a month ago?
Are there no family-friendly, vegan restaurants in NYC where Pilo and Pilo 2.0 could have joined their parents for dinner on the 3rd of April, 2018?
Why was Weirdo removed from circulation during the Pilo 2.0 pregnancy?
Did Weirdo ever get the memo that Ben is fiercely protective of Pilo and that he feels like he’s constantly being bombarded with possible threats to his wellbeing?  (LINK)
Why does Ben who once said: “If you have an over-preoccupation with perception and trying to please people’s expectations, then you can go mad.” (to Empire magazine in 2013) care enough about people’s perception of his family to go on record stating his wife and child are not a PR stunt (on his Vanity Fair interview for Doctor Strange promo in 2016)?
Did the paparazzi who took pictures when furniture and dead plants were being moved into the rental place in Camden, where Ben and his family supposedly live while they’re waiting for his new property to be renovated, follow the movers from his old flat at the Heath to the rental place in Camden?  If so, where are the pictures of the furniture and dead plants being moved out of his old flat and into the trucks?  If not, how did they know Ben and his family were moving to a rental place, and who gave them the Camden address?
Have Pilo and Pilo 2.0 travelled to LA for the IW premiere / promo tour since Ben’s had to be away from home for more than a few weeks?  If so, have Californian paparazzi developed a new respect for Ben's privacy between the pap walk extravaganza of August 2016 and now?
How did the fan pic that Ben and Weirdo took with 4 teenagers, at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice on the 13th of February 2016, end up on a local paper?  Did none of the 4 teenagers pictured have a social media account at the time?  Has none of them created a social media account in the 814 days that have passed since?
How did Weirdo get 5 month old Pilo to sit still for 4 hours straight daily in order for him to Skype with Ben, while the latter was away from home filming Doctor Strange?
Why have the paparazzi stopped spotting Ben at airports?
Out of the full set of pics from the Bora Bora honeymoon in late February of 2015, why were some crystal clear, while all of the ones featuring Weirdo in a bikini were extra blurry?
Why was Pilo’s birth ready to be announced on People magazine on the 8th of June 2015, but then the article was removed?  (LINK)
If Ben and his family have relocated to a rental house or into Ben’s new property, why does Google Maps continue to block the “street view” of his old street in Hampstead Heath? (LINK)
Why did Weirdo’s friends congratulate her on her birthday and on escorting her husband to the Oscars on her Facebook page in 2015, but not on Pilo’s birth?
When was Weirdo born? (LINK)
Why is the renovation for Ben’s new property not finished yet?  556 days is a bit long to wait out with one’s family, living at a rental place instead of one’s own two story flat, no?  Especially when the owner is a multimillionaire who could certainly speed things along with handsome bonuses to his contractors.
Why did Weirdo never make a move to protect her belly when Ben almost ran her into a bin at LAX on the 12th of January 2015 and kept smiling for the paparazzi instead?
Why are Ben and Weirdo travelling sans the pillows again?  Taking into consideration this quote on a German publication from Ben: “When I work I almost always bring my family with me. As of yet I’ve not been away from them a week. Since my second son was born it has been a weekend, I think. The time with the children is so precious that I prioritize them at any time. For me it is very clear: work is work, family is family. When I get home, I leave anything related to work outside the door.”
Why did Ben step in front of his wife, effectively blocking her access to a reporter at the Vanity Fair after Oscars party on the 22nd of February 2015?
Why have Ben and Weirdo not been spotted IN LONDON by the paparazzi while walking the street / out on a date since August of 2017?  Is Ben wearing a mask when he steps out of the house with his wife and children that are definitely real and not a PR stunt nowadays?  (LINK)
Whatever happened to Eggsbenedish?  (however many people were running) That blog set the stage for the showmance, went away when they made sure people were talking, came back to do some damage control when things started getting out of hand, realised they were terrible at herding cats, deleted the blog entirely after the birth of Pilo was announced officially, and now someone has re-opened the blog, but of course all of the posts are gone.
Why did Weirdo not perform on the second Letters Live show (held on the 19th of May 2018) in NYC?
Why was Weirdo smirking during the NYC pap walks in May of 2018 while Ben was being pissy? (LINK)
Did Weirdo attend the LL event on the 19th of May 2018?  If so, why didn’t they arrive together at the venue?  (LINK)
Almost 2 years in, is it safe to assume Weirdo’s logo will never be ready to “go live again”? (LINK)
Why did ATCB try to pass a paid-for paparazzo shot off as a sneaky fan pic on the 6th of August 2016?  (LINK and LINK)
Why did Ben become a brand ambassador for Hisense (a relatively low-end electronic and home appliances manufacturer) instead of signing up for one of the countless roles that major movie studios are presumably throwing at his feet?
Why was there a baity blurb on the Evening Standard about Weirdo’s ring back in February of 2017*, which was then removed entirely less than a week later, leaving only traces of the tags under the original article**? (* LINK and LINK) -  (**LINK)
Why did the Fail never run any of the pictures they purchased the rights to from the Pilo 2.0 pap op at the Heath that were taken mid August of 2017?  (LINK)
HOW???? (LINK)
Why is Weirdo’s name not listed among the people who have performed for Letters Live in Ben’s letter to the general public who visit the Letters Live official page on the internet? Did he forget about his “very cool” wife, is he just not that impressed by her “heroic hard work”, or does it turn out she’s a liability rather than “an asset, a tool” because of her overwhelming fetchlessness?  (LINK)
Why was every announcement / milestone / major pap walk where we got some new bit of information regarding Ben, Weirdo and the most bizarre pregnancy documented in the history of humanity perfectly timed to coincide with Ben’s Oscars campaign and voting close offs back in 2014-5?  Why is every outing / interview with weird quotes from Ben regarding his family still timed perfectly whenever Ben needs some free publicity to promote a new project, 4 years into this showmance?
Were the pillows in LA for Infinity War / Patrick Melrose promo?  (LINK)
Why can’t the press get Weirdo’s name and/or face right 4 years after she’s been introduced (and then re-introduced multiple times) to the world, considering also that she’s supposed to be super duper mega successful in her own right?  (LINK)
Is Weirdo really so bad at reading that the people running Letters Live (including, but not limited to her husband) had to create the entirely new role of Announcer of Names Of Talented People Who Get To Read Actual Letters On Letters Live, in order for the fetchless wonder to get a variation of her name mentioned in the press?
Did either of the pillows appear at Hay?  Cause going through the Hay tags on Instagram and Twitter, I see a myriad of babies and children of all ages joining their parents at the festival, but I haven’t seen a single Nanny (and there were quite a few at the festival last weekend) mentioning they caught a glimpse of Ben’s pillow-y offspring.
Why is Ben’s ring missing from the main Hisense print ad (I’m assuming it’s the main one, since it’s the one featuring the Hisense and World Cup logos), but is there for all of the rest of the pictures from that shoot?  Does the image of MarriedToAFamewhoreDismalBatch who is also a #fatheroftwo to two mostly invisible pillows not appeal to all potential customers of the Hisense product range?  (LINK)
Why did Ben, an actor whom everyone describes as a consummate professional, skip rehearsal with Paapa Essiedu, Tim Minchin, Harriet Walter, David Tennant, Rory Kinnear, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench and Prince Charles on the 23rd of April 2016?  Was the photo op with Weirdo at President Obama’s speech so important?  (LINK)
Why does DorkyBatch never come out to play whenever Weirdo is around him, even though Ben has been pretty darn dorky / silly / happy during interviews / red carpets / promo sessions for the past 3 months?
How is it that when Weirdo was asked to contribute a piece of art to a Christmas bid for Anno’s Africa charity foundation in December 2016, the work she submitted appeared to draw inspiration straight from the art work her ex boyfriend, Conrad Shawcross, submitted for the same charitable bid?  (LINK)
Why does the timeline regarding the proposal / engagement / wedding of much privacy and impeccable timing for Awards season voting closeoffs make no sense when one’s source is Benedict Cumberbatch?  (LINK)
How is it that Ben’s heroically hard working wife who is a director, wanna-be-producer, playwright, curator, narrator, theatre operator, singer, mime, visual artist, clown, Wimbledon spectator, model, and… ACTRESS has been in no way involved with Patrick Melrose, a project so close to Ben’s heart, that is a 5-part series which involved a cast of 100 people (93 of the roles being speaking ones)? Is it that Weirdo didn’t want to steal Ben’s thunder, or just that Ben didn’t trust Weirdo to even stand in the background of one of the numerous scenes involving extras in the cast?
Why was Weirdo photographed consuming champagne at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards on the 30th of November 2014, when she was already 12 weeks along and certainly knew she was “pregnant” at the time?
Why did Ben and Weirdo choose a remote location, only accessible by boat, where there are no immediate medical facilities in case of urgency, and which requires not-advised-for-pregnant-women vaccinations against tropical diseases for their honeymoon?
Does Ben understand anything about babies?  Going by his interviews, he didn’t seem to know a whole lot about taking care of his firstborn (what with Pilo getting sunburned no matter how much lotion his parents put on him, skyping for 4 hours straight with his dad at less than 5 months of age, getting bathed after 11pm because it was the only time available to Ben during Hamlet, using a potentially toxic and filthy movie prop as a teether, being fed apple slices when it was still a choking hazard for him, etc)
Why does Ben keep travelling alone to and from London, only for Weirdo to show up at the final destination for a few pap ops?  (LINK)
Why has Ben not tried to shield either of the pillows’ faces from the paparazzi on 4 separate occasions?  He clearly knew how to do it for himself before Weirdo entered the scene and he started conducting set-up pap walks to prove how real and not PR-stunt driven his marriage and children are.  (LINK)
Why were the Bora Bora honeymoon pics pulled the same day they were published on Popsugar, on the 24th of February 2015?  How is it that Ben had both the motivation and means to issue a kill order for this set of pics within a few hours (while being loved up with his wife on their honeymoon no less)?  Couldn’t he muster the same drive to issue a kill order for the set of pics featuring Pilo’s unblurred face in HD from NYC, which remained on sale on the (for hire) pap agency site for months?  If he couldn’t be bothered trying to issue a kill order for the NYC set of pics, why didn’t he just buy the entire set off the pap agency site, and had them removed that way?
Did anyone ever find Weirdo’s name on any of the Oxford Alumni lists?
Why do the paparazzi only ever spot Ben and Weirdo out in public when Ben is gearing up to start promotion on a new project nowadays?
Was it a fortunate coincidence (publicity wise) that Ben and Weirdo got married on the 14th of February, 3 days before the Oscars voting close offs on the 17th of February in 2015?  (LINK)
Bonus Question:   Who is in charge of uninstalling PRStuntBatch and reinstalling Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch®?

Books in Clouds — Duoyun Bookstore
“I don’t like to be tied down, I am a free spirit. ” —《云中漫步》
Wutopia Lab designed Duoyun Bookstore in Huangyan, which was officially completed and grandly opened on June 26, 2021. This is the first store in a foreign province for Duoyun Bookstore, which was born in Shanghai. It can be described as a cloud symbolizing idealism that slowly rises on the bank of Yongning River.
Getting Up The beginning of a design can be based on a mood. Standing by the Yongning River during the day, with the river calmly and slowly going east, I was easily brought into the flat and distant composition of the southern Chinese landscape, and my mood and sight were both relaxed along the horizontal line. In the evening, many people pile up for their own entertainment along the river, lively and cheerful but not noisy. The air was slightly humid, and the river breeze gently popped through the water droplets, bursting a little refreshment around my face. I envied the tranquility and pleasantness of this city, which is scarce in Shanghai. Suddenly, I decided there should be a cloud, calmly and slowly rising over the river.
Subtraction as Addition Clouds have a sophisticated and pure beauty. Rather than perform cosmetic surgery on a collage of cluttered commercial territorial façades, I decided to wrap them in a continuous white perforated aluminum panel wall. The continuous white creates a complex and pure interface on the riverside (by controlling the perforation rate, the façade creates a cloud of layers) hiding the bookstore. The aluminum wall is the façade, or it can be stripped away to become a courtyard enclosure or both. The continuous white aluminum wall is used as an addition to create a serene and pleasant visual subtraction. A cloud rises over the riverside, and the readers of the bookstore are in the cloud.
Traditional typology The site of the academy is located in buildings 1 and 3 of a group of four buildings on the edge of the Yongning River. Building 1 is also composed of two buildings connected on the first floor as one. The public space site has a basement patio and an evacuation stairwell. It is a place where the focal points are scattered and unfocused. Traditionally, the “shuyuan” with scale and form are formed by a group of ordered buildings. If I consider the scattered buildings 1 and 3 and the interior space as the type of pavilions and pavilions in a traditional building group, then it is obvious that such a building group lacks a courtyard as a focal point. Since I needed a space to control these scattered individuals, creating a courtyard type was a natural choice for me.
I planned a square yard in the open space between buildings 1 and 3. However, this yard was hidden behind the fence between buildings 1 and 2 (other people’s properties). I turned this courtyard into a front yard. It became the official entrance of the bookstore.
The first area is the lifestyle book (area), and the coffee (pavilion) on the east side is near the water. I designed the staircase from the coffee to the second floor as a display (terrace) for reproductions of rare books combined with traffic. The second floor of the coffee is then the future urban parlor room (building).
An interior aisle has been added on the west side to Building 1. The first floor of Building 1 is the bookstore area, with the entrance being the unique Duoyun shelving area (kiosk) with attitude, and then turning north into the main bookstore display (hall). After passing through the cashier’s desk, you will enter the reading (dwelling) designed using the aisle, followed by the creative (house).
The upstairs of the cultural and creative area is an exhibition (museum). The upstairs of the bookstore is a stepped lecture area (room). The second floors are all connected to each other by roof terraces. These (platforms) are a children’s play platform, a mirror terrace, a discussion terrace with a fire pit and a labyrinth terrace as a coffee outing.
The advantage of borrowing the typological architecture of pavilions and courtyards is that the connection between the function and the architectural type of the garden makes it easier for an uneducated audience to understand and support my use of the new courtyard to transform the public space and integrate the buildings into an easily interpretable new courtyard. The courtyard, later named Baiyunting, and its three side gardens (the front garden, the south garden, and the west garden) and the wall, integrate buildings 1 and 3 into a visually continuous complex. Thus a new courtyard architectural space is born out of the historical building type and rewrites a group of scattered commercial buildings, finally creating a new visual and spatial image.
Metaphors and Symbols of Colorful Clouds I insist that architecture should be full of metaphors. We distilled the clouds into an easy-to-read formal symbol, turning them into doorways, logos and even UIs, while the white of the clouds covers all the background spaces of the building to reinforce the symbolic meaning in the clouds and represent the Shanghai of the clouds. The orange color extracted from Huangyan’s most famous orange not only represents the Huangyan of Duoyun, but also becomes the main color in the foreground of the entrance book and coffee area.
From white clouds to orange clouds, it is easy to build a story about five-color auspicious clouds. The bookstore area thus includes the green color in the foreground of the cultural and creative area. This is also the classic color in the Duoyun Bookstore series. More importantly, the blue as cyan has a special meaning in the local Taizhou area and cannot be used as the main color, so the classic green in the Duoyun Bookstore furniture series was chosen as the cyan cloud. Crimson was chosen as the red cloud for the speech area on the second floor, and pink and purple was chosen as the purple cloud for the exhibition area on the second floor. The five different colors identify the different main functional areas. This is a further interpretation of the metaphor of clouds. The story of the five colored clouds finally replaces the typological architectural borrowing as a prominent statement linking function, Shanghai, Huangyan, allusion, documentation, history and locality. The richness of the clouds as a metaphor and the legitimacy of the symbolic use are reinforced. Thus, a “myth” of reading in the clouds is established.
Pyramids and Labyrinths In discussing the topic of the visual focus of the space, a photograph of the Pyramid of Oranges, created by artist Roelof Louw in 1967, provided by the project architect, served as inspiration. An orange pyramid book table with books was created in the foyer. (The Pyramid is actually more like a Ziggurat, but the Chinese is the same). It becomes the dominant device in the space, and a larger green pyramid book table becomes the centerpiece of the shelf area (kiosk) with attitude. And the triangle stripped from the pyramid becomes a translucent acrylic cashier’s desk that becomes the controlling visual focal point of the main bookstore area (hall). The relationship between the color orange and Huangyan is in a sense more in line with the official name of the artist’s installation, Soul of City, which was created in Duoyun Bookstore in Huangyan.
I have always been fascinated by the complex organization of direction and vision in places to create the experience of time, relative fast and slow. A labyrinth is an excellent architectural type combined with light to achieve this experience. So the bookshelves and furniture become the walls of the bookstore maze. Transparent and translucent interfaces blur the clarity of light, creating a disorienting and curious uncertainty in the space. So much so that time seems to slow down a bit here. Unexpectedly in the coffee area (pavilions), the orange-colored furniture is more like ripples. And when I laze on the sofa on the raised platform near the window, the river level unfolds like a scroll, a kind of time view formed by Chinese painting unexpectedly comes back to life, matching that emotion I felt when I stood by the river for the first time.
Due to the extra structural secondary beams under the roof panels, I could not open the sky light on the cashier ceiling to make the water and sky into one color. I could only replace it with a luminous canopy, which is slightly regrettable as there is one less light combination.
Water Surface and Sky To increase the confusion of the maze, I used corrugated aluminum panels as the ceiling to resemble the rippling water of the Yongning River. At the same time, the roof deck of the cashier area was turned into a mirror reflecting the sky. I condensed the water and sky on the front and back of the floor to create a place where direction and time are lost.
The Myth of the White Cloud Garden The courtyard of the Huangyan branch of Duoyun Shuyuan embodies an attempt to pursue the spirit behind the form of the garden. With the authorization of the owner, I had full will to be the owner of this courtyard to design it subjectively. I decided to create a world (garden) that fits my own concept of the site. I eliminated the structures and facilities on the original site. I kept the original trees and plants, and also kept but modified the fire stairwell and smoke extraction courtyard required by code. I viewed the courtyard as a water surface, and the three groups of trees forming a green island formed the basic paradigm of a pond and three hills in a Chinese garden.
The matching and organization of the trees is borrowed from the composition of Ni Zan, the great painter I love. However, the white stones and greenery shown in the courtyard are easily associated with Japanese dry landscape gardens. But this inspiration comes from a fragment of Qiu Ying’s “Garden Views” about Chinese dead landscapes. In the painting a vibrant rosebush stands on a wide mock sparkling white stone work ground, simple and sparse. The courtyard in the painting is enclosed by a bamboo curtain, while I have enclosed a translucent courtyard with white perforated aluminum panels, as well. The light can be sifted through the fence and sprinkle the courtyard like rain to form dappled light and shadows, adding vividness to the courtyard. The courtyard does not seek the form of a traditional garden, but conveys the Chinese love of creating a vibrant earthly wonderland in the most crowded place in the world, the so-called Peach Blossom Garden. It is also a real dream world for contemporary people.
Dream and Reality The white aluminum walls do not hide all the old buildings from view. In most parts of White Cloud Court, the reader is almost completely trapped in a complete dream world. In some places, there are slight traces of the old buildings showing through. This reality behind the dream world instead builds a magical realism, an unreal reality, or an unfamiliar familiarity. This is about the accident that I am happy to see.
Surprises Readers will find two cloud stools, one white and one blue, in the White Cloud Court. These are made of plastic from recycled marine garbage. Taking advantage of Huangyan being the capital of molds, molds were made to infuse and mold the plastic. The use of plastic from recycled marine garbage comes from my daughter’s education on environmental protection and the need for architects to express an environmentally friendly attitude in their own designs.
There is a blue glass house up the spiral staircase of the cafe, and the daylight tints the area where the orange staircase and the roof meet an extremely beautiful purple. But as soon as you press a switch, the blue glass becomes colorless and transparent, and the Yongning River leaps into view. This glass is a car glass technology developed by a local company in Huangyan. I brought it for the first time to use it in architecture. I also used this glass in the lecture area. Because I always fantasize this scene, in spring, I sit on the steps, the blue color fades, the blooming cherry blossoms bloom like clouds under my feet, it’s all, so nice.
Architecture is writing. I have always believed that a bookstore should reflect the spirit of the city or region. Duoyun Bookstore in Huangyan is my understanding of and response to the city of Huangyan, the people who live there and the culture of the city. I believe that small cities in China lack a contemporary art form that shapes their own spirit. In the age of the internet, people in third and fourth tier cities generally have a sense of confidence and judgment. Architects do not have to pursue the fashion of big cities and foreign countries or be stuck in so-called historical forms in their work here. It is entirely possible to use abstract art language and metaphors to create new art forms and spaces that reflect the local present. One such work is the bookstore. If all small cities in China were as content and peaceful as Huangyan, with its history and scenery, and at the same time focused on creating its own future, then China would be a more beautiful place.

What Seeds are You Planting?
Mary loves trucks and spent 20 years working for a multi-national vehicle manufacturer. In April 2020, she left the organization to start her own business. She has always had a dream to have a coffee shop and a deli. She has tried a few other entrepreneurial ventures. She had a store with repurposed furniture and a music theatre. She also had agencies selling construction supplies. However, none of these seemed to feel right with her.
A few days before lockdown Mary decided to take the plunge and she started a mobile deli. She lives on a small holding in South Africa’s busiest province and she has access to local farmers and suppliers. She developed a list of products to sell and she simply jumped in. It was a steep learning curve but the business took off within the first month.
She identified her target customer to be high income earners with sophisticated tastes. She created a list of products that were expensive and high quality. This worked very well and her customers were extremely happy with her offerings. In the early lockdown, citizens could only leave the house for food or medication. The emptiness of the streets was shocking for her when she was delivering to her customers. It felt surreal with no cars on the streets.
Her turnover was higher than she ever imagined it would be. She was able to pay off her car and she was also able to pay her rent in full which was something she has struggled with in the past. She typically pays when she can but now is able to pay her rent regularly. Mary’s passion for her work was obvious when talking to her and it’s clear that she loves serving her clients and supporting her suppliers.
Mary has faced many challenges in her life. She was married in the past and she never felt good enough. Her husband treated as if she was an inferior person and over time, she started believing it. In her corporate days, she received free trips as recognition for her hard work, but it was difficult to enjoy the trips as her husband put her through emotional hell with the guilt of going away.
She remembers a day when he was speaking to her in a way that was emotionally abusive. She walked outside and it felt like she was slapped with the awareness that she’s worth more than that. In that moment, she knew that she had to get away from him. It wasn’t easy for her to do this because he is a dangerous man. He made threats on her life and on the lives of their children. She made plans to escape from him while she waited for the perfect opportunity. She packed bags of clothes and hid them in the car and hid spare keys in various locations that she could access on a moment’s notice. She suffered so much stress that she lost 20kg when she moved out. Without his financial contribution, life has been tough but it was well worth the effort of getting him out of her life.
She realized that she has been putting off her dreams and had this ‘one day’ thinking which isn’t very action oriented. Mary told me that the subconscious never sleeps. When our energy reflects that we don’t deserve success and money and we live in a scarcity mindset, it’s impossible to shine.
Mary is an optimist and she has a special gift of thinking outside of the box. She is a natural entrepreneur and gaining the experience in a large organization set her up for great learning. Mary said, “It’s a matter of seeing the gap.”
In the spirit off entrepreneurial experimentation, she tried something else in her deli business. She created a budget-friendly list with the thinking that people might have lost income during the pandemic. This strategy backfired. She used a different supplier with cheaper produce and her customers did not respond well. This showed her that her original niche market was correct and she resumed her original strategy to serve her ideal customer. She realized that her market is the high-income earners. This was not a mistake but rather an opportunity to gain greater insight into who she is serving and what they want. Customer feedback is critical and Mary is excellent at listening to her customers and responding to their needs.
Mary was raised in a way that receiving was not encouraged. She has realized that it is a process to learn to receive. In her book, Rising Strong, Brené Brown writes that there is a certain power and control in giving and that it takes courage and vulnerability to receive. She writes, “When you judge yourself for needing help, you judge those you are helping. When you attach value to giving help, you attach value to needing help.” I can relate to Mary’s experiences as I have also struggled to receive. I’m trying to teach my children that it is an act of kindness to receive from others since it feels wonderful to give and we would not want to take that experience away from those who want to help us.
Mary’s daughter is a strong ice hockey player and was invited to Bulgaria a few years ago. With Mary’s income and being a single mother, there was no possibility of affording the airfare and accommodation. It broke her heart because she wanted her daughter to have this experience. She decided to overcome her past difficulties in receiving by setting up an online campaign where people could donate. She received money from so many kind people, one person donating R10 000! If she’d know who they were, she would have talked them out of it. But she does acknowledge that it feels bad when we are not able to give.
She has done an incredible amount of personal growth. She places sticky notes everywhere in her house containing affirmations. She is also intentional about her thinking. The psychologists call this ‘metacognition’ – the ability to listen to your own thoughts. I always tell my clients and readers that the starting point for any form of growth is awareness. Once we get into the habit of hearing what we think, we can start to shift thoughts and beliefs that are not so healthy. For example, if you realize that you are really unkind to yourself, you can develop the skills of self-compassion to reduce stress or if you realize that you are procrastinating or avoiding something, you can start to understand why and to address any issues within yourself that hamper your performance.
Mary is proud of her high standards and her drive and ambition. She has seen people around her struggling to show the same level of commitment towards their goals. She has not always been able to appreciate her strengths but she is on a journey towards self-love.
She told me about an author Mike Brescia who inspired her. He was homeless and an alcoholic and he went to seek shelter in a bookstore. He read book on self-improvement and he made classical music containing affirmations. He repeated to himself many times that he was the best salesman in the world. The bookstore asked him to sell books and he became an outstanding salesman. This book was the catalyst she needed to shift her thinking patterns and to use affirmations to move her life forward.
She loved Tim Ferriss’ book, The 4-Hour Work Week. He writes about having a morning ritual which she employed and adapted to fit her own life and routines. She journals almost every day and in this way, she releases things that are troubling her so that they don’t get in the way of what she plans to achieve. There is a lot of research supporting the positive effects on mood and happiness through journaling.
One of the most influential practices in Mary’s life is a regular gratitude practice. When she feels grateful for something, she expresses it out loud in the moment to acknowledge her blessings. She identifies three things each day that she is grateful for and three things that will make each day great. Each night at bedtime she says a thank you prayer for anything good that happened in the day.
It’s clear that Mary has made a conscious effort to be happy and to focus on the good things in life, all at a time that many people found enormously stressful. Operating this way is not only for natural optimists. In fact, Martin Seligman, one of the key founders of the positive psychology movement, wrote the book Learned Optimism to train his pessimistic nature to look for the positive. Mary says that it’s the law of nature that when we plant a seed, something comes up. So, what we are planting had better be good.
I asked Mary about how the lockdown and pandemic have affected her life. She had to make some big decisions that were not easy. Mary did not have Wi-Fi at her house so she sent her daughter to stay with a friend for the lockdown period. This allowed Mary to work very hard and for her daughter to have some company and some fun. It also reduced Mary’s costs for a period. She missed her terribly, however and was incredibly happy to have her back home again.
Mary’s sleep has improved since leaving her corporate job. There was so much red tape that she found it very frustrating and the stress would show up as a knot in her stomach. This insight was part of how she realized that the environment and the company were not right for her. This level of self-awareness is immensely helpful. How often do we feel symptoms and just brush them off or assume that everyone is super stressed? Before I burnt out, I completely ignored the physical warning signs my body was showing me. I’m so pleased to see that people like Mary are paying attention to the stress in their bodies and taking action towards a better life.
Mary is a natural giver. She dropped frozen meals at her father and another couple who needed help during the lockdown period. She was also saddened by the families that took advantage of her. She gave some needy people food but they traded it for cigarettes when they were banned, despite having children who did not receive regular meals. She also found out that some families were getting food from three or four sources, while others had nothing. She tried hard not to judge these people because she simply didn’t know their full story and what was happening for them internally.
Mary is no stranger to stress. She was a victim of an armed robbery which was very traumatic. She lives on a piece of land that is under constant threat. Before she started her business, she could not afford the costs of private security but thanks to her deli, she was able to install a security system with a monthly cost that is manageable. She sleeps better knowing that someone will come to her assistance if an intruder breaches the perimeter. She is also sleeping better with a proper meal in her stomach each night now that she can afford to eat better.
I’m always interested in how people manage their stress. Mary is very clear that positive stress drives her. Friday is delivery day and she thrives on the pressure to ensure all of her customers have their orders in time for the weekend. She is also aware of negative stress and that it’s healthy to acknowledge what she’s feeling. She doesn’t avoid or suppress the feelings. Instead, she identifies what emotion she’s experiencing and tries to understand the source of it. This approach takes courage as strong emotions are often very uncomfortable but Mary knows that she must sit through it to get to the other side. She says, “It’s not nice, but it’s worth it.” I was impressed by Mary’s courage to face up to difficulty in this way. It’s clear that she has suffered deeply in life but she is so strong and positive.
Mary also uses deep breathing to move through stressful situations. When faced with something challenging, she consciously takes three deep breaths to give her the time to respond well. This strategy is well supported by science. Deep breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, inducing calm and allowing her brain to make good choices. The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain responsible for decision-making and willpower. Deep breathing allows us the opportunity to think carefully before taking action that we will later regret.
One of my favorite questions in the interviews during lockdown was “What has become clearer to you as a result of this pandemic?” Mary answered without hesitation. She is exactly where she needs to be. She has freed herself from that ‘one day’ thinking and is living the life she has always dreamed of.
Many people are skeptical and critical of personal development and affirmations. As an author in this genre, I am subject to the snobbery of other authors and people who don’t think that personal growth is important. But it is very clear to me that our thoughts and beliefs are the starting point of everything. What we think and believe affects our behaviour and how we behave affects our outcomes. Many people have difficulty believing in themselves and I am certain that as soon as Mary began believing in herself, life changed for her.
Mary’s parting words to me were about how much she loves what she’s doing and how she can’t wait to wake up and get to work. She thrived through a period that most people found intensely stressful. She remarked how some people focus on what the government has done wrong and although she was concerned about the economic impact of the lockdown, she acknowledges that limitation is often the seed of invention. Mary said, “We all have talents and gifts and there is space for us all to achieve Situations like these force us to use our gifts.”

As I entered the bright white building, I heard the quiet whirring of small machines. I weaved through the museum doing my best to interpret and experience the art but couldn’t shake a feeling of familiarity. Then it hit me, I’ve seen this same artist before in NYC! Who would have guessed we would find a slice of the big apple in the small town of Marfa.

25 Coolest Things to Do in Marfa TX
We ended our West Texas Road Trip in Marfa. Before visiting, we knew very little of the area other than hearing about the artsy community and seeing Prada Marfa and El Cosmico on instagram.
Marfa truly surprised us and felt like an anomoly. It’s quaint and charming and has small town vibes, but it’s also is completely different from any small town we’ve previously seen.
We found it hard to describe, and it almost felt like the twilight zone. We expected to find eclectic desert art and instead found an art scene as sophisticated as NYC. Sometimes it felt like a small town in West Texas, and other times it felt like a neighborhood in Brooklyn.
If you’re planning a trip out to Marfa, we’ve put together a guide to help you plan your trip.

What You Need to Know Before You Visit Marfa
Like a lot of the small towns in West Texas, hours are limited. Visit between Thursday to Sunday for the best experience, but even then there’s no guarantee that all businesses will be open.
Be flexible with your schedule. Even with posted hours, some stores and restaurants may close. Some even run out of food and close once the food is out. They’ve adopted a siesta mentality and close whenever they feel like it.
The closest major airport is in El Paso (about 3 hours away). Take advantage of your location and see other surrounding sites in West Texas. Here is our road trip guide.
Renting a car is the best way to get around town. When we talked to locals and asked about Uber, they said there are only 1-2 drivers locally.
Talk to locals to find out what else is going on around town. We heard about a free concert from a bartender which was the perfect way to end the night.
Cell phone coverage can be spotty. We have T-mobile and it worked in most cases but as soon as we were out of the main area, we lost signal.
If you plan on visiting during a holiday weekend, book early. This has become a popular destination.
Marfa is in a desert climate. it gets hot during the day but chilly at night. Have layers ready. During the winter, it can snow and gets dangerous to drive.

Hey all, Dani here.
You know, it feels weird to be writing up this post about anticipating anything right now. The world is still just absolute chaos, and events are being canceled left and right. Several books have had publication delayed. So, I guess the first thing I want to say for this post is that I checked the release dates for these books like a week ago. If they’ve been postponed since then, I’m sorry. Work has been a bit crazy and I haven’t been able to stay 100% on top of all the bookish news.
Anyway, this is a post series that I’ve been doing for at least a few years now, and I look at a season of book releases quarterly. For today’s post I’m looking at those summer releases, AKA books coming out in June, July, and August. There might be some missing here, but that could be because I’m behind on the series, or because the book didn’t pop up on my radar, whatever. Obviously, I’d love to hear what books you’re looking forward to as well, so give some bookish love by shouting out some titles and releases in the comments.
Do I have almost 30 books on my list this time around? Why yes, yes I do. What can I say? I’m in the mood to support all the authors I can, and buy as many books as I can afford to pick up. This also means supporting my local bookstores as well. So that’s a win-win-win.
Okay, let’s get started…with June.
#gallery-0-13 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-13 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 20%; } #gallery-0-13 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-13 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

I have ARCs through NetGalley for The Court of Miracles and The Ghosts of Sherwood, so I’m really hoping to be able to read them very soon and get reviews up.
Now on to July
#gallery-0-14 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-14 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 20%; } #gallery-0-14 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-14 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

Right now I have ARCs through NetGalley for Twin Daggers and The Morning Flower.
All right, well that’s all the books I can think of right now. It’s quite a list. I’m excited to read so very many books in the summer season. And hopefully I’ll be able to balance reading time with my writing time, considering I also need to have time for my full-time job, plus time to sleep…it’s a lot to juggle. But you know what? I love doing it, so it’s a worthwhile juggle.
I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
Most Anticipated Releases Summer 2020 Hey all, Dani here. You know, it feels weird to be writing up this post about anticipating anything right now.

Social Distance: Photos of a Brooklyn Neighborhood During Coronavirus
By Joanna C. Valente
Living through the coronavirus pandemia is a strange and surreal reality in which we’ve all had to adjust quickly, often isolated from our friends and family without much warning. While the internet and virtual spaces provide a built-in community, and easy ways to keep in touch with friends, physical spaces and communities are still clearly a huge part of what it means to be human.
Humans are communal by nature. We don’t even realize how social we are, until the avenues to being social are gone, even if that means being unable to work in a coffee shop, eating a slice of pizza in your local slice shop, or just comfortably meeting up with friends for dinner or a walk. All of these things, even walking without anxiety (at least in New York City where most people don’t have private lawns, balconies, or porches)..
As a photographer, I wanted to document what my neighborhood was experiencing - and what the mood was like. Art, for me, is a way to work through my emotions and understand what I feel; it’s a coping mechanism for me, as it is for many artists. Greenpoint, the Brooklyn neighborhood I live in, is relatively small and insular, especially considering it’s only possible to get to by the G train or a few buses.
Usually, however, it’s vibrant, full of artists, young parents, and locals who’ve here for generations. As a quaint neighborhood with a few greenspaces, there are numerous mom & pop shops and indie stores, ranging from record shops, bakeries, bookstores, and music venues. There’s a lot of reasons to love living here - and people aren’t too shy.
So, when people began social isolating more and more over the last month (until it became official last week), it was hard not to notice the energy shifting and changing. The sidewalks emptied out, the businesses shuttered. This is not to say people still aren’t walking around - and there are plenty of restaurants delivering food or allowing pickup (and some are even doing sliding scale or reduced-priced meals, which is awesome), but it’s not the same.
People are, without a doubt, doing the right thing by isolating more - but it comes with a price - and a sadness. It’s traumatic, whether realized or not. It’s still felt - and will keep morphing and changing as people adapt for survival. This collective moment, while difficult, will hopefully bring us together as people, and find ways to be supportive, loving, and tender throughout.
I took these photos last week - just in attempt to understand the moment, and ourselves more.

The 15 Best Coffee Shops & Cafes in HCMC
A) The Best Saigon Cafes for Getting Work Done
1. The Hidden Elephant Books & Coffee
The Hidden Elephant Books & Coffee is both a cute little coffee shop and a bookstore with a large selection of books written in English (which can be difficult to find in Vietnam). The ambiance here is VERY quiet. It is meant to be a place to work or to read, but not to socialize. So you’ll probably find yourself whispering your coffee order to the friendly staff members.
Hidden Elephant is a great coffee shop to get some work done if you thrive in a very quiet, peaceful environment. They have lots of tea and coffee offerings and a few sweet and savory treat options.
This Saigon coffee shop really is hidden on the second floor with just a small sign to guide you where to go. It’s through a small alleyway and up a small set of stairs. Seating is very limited and people tend to stay awhile so you may want to have a backup plan in case no tables are available.
Location: 2nd Floor, 35 Phan Chu Trinh, Phường Bến Thành, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
2. The Workshop Coffee
The Workshop Coffee is a cafe that takes its high-quality coffee very seriously. If you are a coffee connoisseur, there’s really no better coffee shop in Saigon. They have a large selection of coffee beans and you can choose your preferred brewing style.
The ambiance of The Workshop Coffee is quite hip and industrial. You’ll feel like you’ve transported to Portland, Oregon or Austin, Texas. And while there are a ton of people working here, there are no noise restrictions so it is a great place to work if you don’t mind chatter in the background. There are plenty of outlets to keep you charged and some large shared tables to fit more patrons.
The Workshop Coffee also has a full menu and a few sweet dessert options in case you get hungry. My only complaint about The Workshop Coffee is that the chairs are too hard to be able to spend an entire afternoon here. And the location is also a bit challenging to find as it is down a small alleyway and up several flights of stairs.
Location: 27 Ngô Đức Kế, Bến Nghé, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
3. Teaspoon Coffee & Tearoom
While the Workshop takes coffee seriously, Teaspoon Coffee & Tearoom is the place to go if you’re serious about tea. Not only is this adorable Saigon cafe filled with unique teapots and teacups on display, but you can also choose from a wide selection of teas in various fruit and floral varieties, as well as black, green, and herbal teas. And you can select the strength of your tea depending on your preference.
We recommend Teaspoon Coffee & Tearoom as a great place to work because they have some nice, comfortable chairs near the big windows that look down on the street below. They also have chairs with high backs if you need more support while you work. Plus their wifi works great and there are plenty of outlets throughout.
And if you get a bit peckish while you’re working, Teaspoon also has a case full of yummy desserts by the coffee bar. Flan, macarons, cheesecake, lemon meringue, and red velvet are a few that are usually available. We would highly recommend the lemon meringue!
Even if you don’t have any work to do, you’ll want to visit Teaspoon Coffee & Tearoom to enjoy a cup of tea and the lovely atmosphere. It’s a peaceful place with colorful murals on the walls, comfortable seating, and the cutest decor. Plus the staff members are super friendly and if you’re lucky they may even play you a tune or two on the guitar!
Location: 37 Lý Tự Trọng, Bến Nghé, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
B) The Best Saigon Cafes with Unique Coffee Concoctions
4. Okkio Caffe
Okkio Caffe is also a great Saigon cafe for getting some work done, but I felt compelled to add them to this section because of their delicious coconut coffee and egg coffee concoctions! In fact, it’s often referred to as one of the best places in Saigon to try egg coffee.
The coffee at Okkio is a bit pricey compared to other Saigon coffee shops, but you can tell that the coffee bean quality is high. They also offer cold brew and some yummy treats to satisfy your sweet tooth. But since both egg coffee and coconut coffee are really unique to Vietnam, it’d be a shame not to try both while you’re here. And Okkio is a great place to do it!
As with many of the other Saigon cafes on this list, Okkio Caffe is located in the middle of the bustling tourist area, but a bit difficult to find as it is off the street, up a narrow staircase. The ambiance is a bit like a cute diner with little round tables and a colorful tiled floor. Seating is limited but it’s worth the wait!
Location: 122 Đường Lê Lợi, Phường Bến Thành, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
5. Góc Hà Nội (Little Hanoi Egg Coffee)
Another one of the best coffee shops in Saigon to try Vietnam’s famous egg coffee is Goc Ha Noi (Vietnamese: Góc Hà Nội – which translates to “Little Hanoi”). It’s a small, unassuming cafe that is tucked back into an alleyway and not exactly easy to find. But that only adds to its charm!
The interior of this darling little Saigon cafe is cozy and everyone on staff is so friendly. They have a small menu of different toast options if you’re feeling peckish, the most popular of which is the avocado toast with egg. And of course, it would be a travesty not to try their famous egg coffee!
Location: 165 Bùi Viện, Phường Phạm Ngũ Lão, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
6. Cong Ca Phe
Some may argue that Cong Ca Phe (Vietnamese: Cộng Cà Phê) doesn’t deserve a spot on a list of best coffee shops in Saigon because it’s actually a chain with locations all over Vietnam. But honestly, when I want a yummy coffee treat, it’s always the spot that I choose! Not only do they have coconut coffee, but also other coconut concoctions like coconut chocolate and coconut green rice. So if you’re not in the mood for coffee you’ll have plenty of options here!
The ambiance of Cong Ca Phe is like an homage to the Viet Cong during the Vietnam-American War. The baristas and servers wear green army-esk uniforms and they have a small gift shop area with war-themed memorabilia. The coffee shops are generally in older, multi-story buildings with antique tables and lots of old books. It’s a popular spot for young and hip Vietnamese kids to hang out with their friends and study.
Many of the Cong Ca Phe locations have some outdoor seating, perfect for people watching. I love hanging out at this Saigon cafe, sipping my coconut coffee, and watching the world go by.
C) The Best Saigon Cafes for Amazing Ambiance
7. Padma de Fleur
If I had to pick the absolute most darling little coffee shop on this list, then Padma de Fleur would probably win first prize. It’s both a coffee shop and a florist so you’ll be surrounded by beautiful floral arrangements while you sip on your perfectly presented coffee.
I spent one entire afternoon working at Padma de Fleur and had the best experience! The space is incredibly peaceful and relaxing, the drinks are served in the most picture-perfect fashion, and the set lunch meal is really tasty. Plus they just leave you alone and never pressure you to buy a thing. They even allowed me to order decaf coffee to be delivered since they don’t offer it on their menu (I was pregnant at the time).
Location: 55/6 Lê Thị Hồng Gấm, Phường Nguyễn Thái Bình, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
8. Ca Phe Co Ba
Another amazing cafe in Saigon with a lovely ambiance is Ca Phe Co Ba (Vietnamese: Cà Phê Cô Ba). They have lots of different little comfortable seating areas, including chairs out on their balcony where you can enjoy the view! Large wooden chairs, antique decor, and a tiled floor create a cozy, homey ambiance in this Saigon coffee shop.
Besides a large selection of delicious coffee drinkings, Ca Phe Co Ba also has a large menu so it’s an ideal place to spend an entire afternoon. The atmosphere is lively as it is a popular place for young locals to catch up with friends. It’s possible to get some work done here if you don’t mind the background noise.
Location: 4-6 Đồng Khởi, Bến Nghé, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
9. The Loft Cafe & Bistro
The Loft Cafe & Bistro is another Saigon cafe that will make you forget you’re in SE Asia! With exposed brick walls that have been painted stark white and a huge round window clock, it has a hip vibe that is popular with locals and expats alike.
You can stick to one of their delicious coffee drinks, or check out their large food menu. There are plenty of tables to choose from and if you don’t mind the relatively hard chairs and chatter, it can be a good place to get work done.
Location 1: 26 Lý Tự Trọng, Bến Nghé, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City Location 2: 95 Pasteur, Bến Nghé, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
D) The Best Saigon Cafes With Yummy Desserts
10. Maison Marou
If I could only eat at one dessert spot, anywhere in the world, for the rest of my life, I would choose Maison Marou. That’s a serious statement, I know, but their chocolate really is THAT GOOD. After I first discovered this coffee shop in Saigon, which is really more of a chocolate-lovers paradise, I returned every day for a week straight. They sell the best brownie in all of Ho Chi Minh City!
Maison Marou does offer some standard coffee drinks and teas, but their real specialties are their drinking chocolate concoctions and a case full of desserts! The cocoa is sourced from the Mekong Delta and the chocolate is produced locally in Vietnam. They also have award-winning packaged chocolate bars available for purchase which make great gifts for friends and family back home.
The wifi can be pretty spotty and the shop gets really crowded, so Maison Marou isn’t necessarily the best place in Saigon to work for the afternoon. But if you’re looking to grab an afternoon coffee and a decadent dessert, you absolutely cannot go anywhere else!
Location: 167-169, Calmette, Phường Nguyễn Thái Bình, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
11. Villa Royale Antiques & Tea Room
If you want to enjoy a yummy dessert that doesn’t necessarily involve chocolate, then Villa Royale Downtown Antiques & Tea Room will satisfy your sweet tooth. The most popular dessert in the case is the Dalat raspberry cheesecake, and we’re partial to the carrot cake with passionfruit frosting. Other delicious options include apple pie, lemon meringue pie, and salted caramel pie.
And if you want an excuse to dress up, you’ll love that the Villa Royale offers an afternoon high tea. While enjoying your tea you’ll sit at one of the quaint little tables surrounded by unique art and antiques. You’ll forget that you’re in hot and humid Vietnam!
Villa Royale Downtown Antiques & Tea Room has two locations – one in the city center and one in District 2. While both locations are quite lovely with similar food offerings and great service, we are partial to the District 2 location. The decor is more eclectic and you can actually purchase many of the antiques on display!
And for a real treat, be sure to try a freshly baked scone with jam and whipped cream. Baked goods are few and far between in Saigon so you may want to take a few back to your hotel to enjoy later.
Location 1: 25 Hồ Tùng Mậu, Phường Nguyễn Thái Bình, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
Location 2: 3 Trần Ngọc Diện, Thảo Điền, District 2, Hồ Chí Minh City
E) The Best Saigon Cafes for a Delicious Brunch
12. L’Usine
L’Usine has several cafes sprinkled around Saigon and you really can’t go wrong no matter which one you choose. They also have a small shop attached where you can purchase some unique made-in-Vietnam gifts. The restaurant ambiance is quaint and unpretentious – it’s a good place to get some work done or to catch up with a friend over a cappuccino.
The menu at L’Usine includes a wide selection of delicious breakfast dishes (including several eggs benedict variations), as well as burgers, sandwiches, and Asian cuisine favorites. Dishes are on the pricey side here but portions are large and the food is really tasty. My personal favorite dish is the vegetarian lasagna!
If you don’t mind venturing out to District 2, the L’Usine Thao Dien offers a weekend “boozy brunch” of free-flow wine and craft beer for only 290,000 VND/person. It’s one of the best brunch deals in town!
Location: You can find all of L’Uisine’s locations here.
13. The Vintage Emporium
The Vintage Emporium is the cutest little Saigon coffee shop located in Da Kao just outside the touristy area of District 1. Not only do they have yummy coffees, teas, and juices, but they also have some unique lattes flavored with beetroot, matcha, or turmeric.
And while it’s possible to order only coffee at The Vintage Emporium, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to pass up their scrumptious brunch menu! Offering super fresh smoothie bowls, eggs benedict, and other brunch classics, you’re sure to find something you love here.
Keep in mind that The Vintage Emporium is quite popular with expats, especially on weekends. So arrive early or a bit later in the afternoon to ensure that you’ll get a table.
Location: 95 Đường Nguyễn Văn Thủ, Đa Kao, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
14. Cafe Marcel
Another popular brunch spot in District 1 is Cafe Marcel. This lovely little French-style cafe is very popular and gets incredibly busy during breakfast and lunch hours. If you just want to sip a coffee and enjoy a book or some conversation, better to go later in the afternoon after the lunch crowd has died down. And if you would like to enjoy brunch, it’s best to make a reservation to avoid a wait (although they don’t take reservations on the weekend).
If you’re craving Western brunch favorites like avocado toast, pancakes, or even just an old fashioned burger, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the menu at Cafe Marcel. You can build your own breakfast with eggs how you like them and various bread and side options. Or just go with my personal favorite – the Croque-Marcel. There are several levels inside with air conditioning, or you can enjoy the views from the rooftop terrace.
Of course, with Western food comes Western prices so expect to pay a bit more for your brunch here. And note that laptops aren’t allowed during lunch hours and on weekends.
Location: 96 Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa, Bến Nghé, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
15. Godmother Bake & Brunch
If you’re looking for the most Instagrammable cafe in Saigon then you’ll definitely want to check out Godmother Bake & Brunch. With a light pink color scheme, comfy velour chairs and couches, and perfectly presented food and drinks, it’s impossible not to take a few photos here.
Godmother is also one of the few places in Saigon to get a grilled cheese sandwich with a side of creamy tomato soup. Prices are reasonable when you consider how large the portions are. If you want to indulge in decadent comfort brunch classics, this is the place to do it!
Location: 4 Đồng Khởi, Bến Nghé, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
