(my Spanish class is making me write about influential hispanic/latin singers...and I think Alejandro is from the north of Mexico...so..I'll mention lots of singers from that region...)

what about Alejandro who listens to music that his dad would play on the speakers during family gatherings.

Los Tigres Del Norte loud on the speakers of his home as he prepares the meat for the cookout. La Puerta Negra (the black door) because it reminds it of his mum singing over and over and how he adored her voice when he would sit on her lap as a kid. Golpes En El Corazon(Blows to the Heart), when he went through a breakup and got tipsy. Calibre 50, when he wants to be a romantic. Siempre Te Voy a Querer(I'll always love you) plays around his mind when he looks at his pretty wife and kids. Another song that reminds him of his parents would be No Hay Novedad(No news), mainly because of when he was a kid and that song would play over and over during cookouts. Nieves De Enero(Snows of january) when he thinks of his young teen years and for some reason that song reminds him of his first girlfriend. Mi Ultimo Deseo(My last wish)is a song that most men in Los Vaqueros know and love too much for the meaning of the song. Adiós Amor(Goodbye Love) when he and his wife got into an argument and he got drunk, sang this and cried...went home and cuddled her. Hablame De Ti(Tell me about you), reminds him of how flirty he was when he met his wife and how the lyrics are close to what he said. Ariel Camacho was mainly his 20s and the two women he dedicated most songs to and how now they are for his wife. Ramon Ayala would play in cookouts and when he and the Vaqueros get real drunk, they nurse a bottle and play Tragos Amargos and sing with their slurred speech.

Discovered that the 1955 movie adaptation of Chesley Bonestell’s book “Conquest of Space” is on Amazon Prime.

It seems more “real” than most other pre-Mir space movies because of how minimalist and claustrophobic the sets are. Acting is very stiff, stageplay-like. It’s a weird contrast.

Miniature effects haven’t held up as well as those in, say, Forbidden Planet or War of the Worlds, but then those movies were a lot less ambitious.

I’ve heard that the plot about a religious fanatic trying to sabotage the mission already felt dated in 1955. I wonder how much of that was because of a propaganda campaign to get Americans on board with the Space Race, “It’s not blasphemy if it’s to beat those godless commies!”

Dang, nobody had any idea what an asteroid looked like up close back then.

The space funeral is still pretty haunting. It would be darn creepy to look out the window and see your friend’s corpse just hanging there like a ghost.

They got how Mars looks almost right. Kudos on that. Guess it was a lot easier to see with telescopes of the time.

They portray Mars as having a blue sky and it being safe to take the gloves of your spacesuit off. Before Mariner showed how thin Mars’s atmosphere is, before Viking showed how toxic the dirt is.

Why’d they even bring a gun on this trip? Is there not enough explosive stuff on a spaceship already?

Like, yeah, some real astronauts carried guns, but that was as likely to be a hunting rifle or shotgun for foraging if they went off course than a pistol. I'd assume the mission to Mars would be a bit better observed to avoid landing in Soviet Siberia or something. I guess it still makes more sense than, say, the Soyuz crew in Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter's "Time Odyssey" having a gun. Like, I wouldn't think you need to worry about accidentally landing in hostile territory as much when you've got both American and Russian astronauts aboard.

Aww, they got a white Christmas on Mars. :3 Unclear why the rocket needs to be perfectly vertical for them to take off. Doesn't seem like a “The Martian” situation where they’re afraid of tipping over. Listen, I’ve played Kerbal Space Program, you can just adjust your flight angle after blastoff! Is the mission so perfectly calibrated that they don’t have the ability to steer at all?

Calibre 50’s former singer Eden Muñoz is set to perform at the 2022 SESAC Latina Music Awards, taking place June 29 in Beverly Hills, Calif. This month, Muñoz also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay chart with his debut solo single “¡Chale!” The awards ceremony honors its songwriters and publishers by presenting awards to the most-performed songs of the year, including song of the year, publisher of the year and songwriter of the year for both Regional Mexican and pop/Latin rhythm.

After taking his winter break in Nicaragua, Sebastian Yatra now joins forces with the country’s award-winning rum Flor de Caña. “I joined @flordecana_es and their global reforestation campaign together with One Tree Planted,” the Colombian artist expressed on Instagram this week, elaborating that the purpose is for a greener future for everyone. “You can be part of this wonderful cause and be directly responsible for making our world greener, one tree at a time,” he added.

Anitta’s New Career Ventura

Brazilian artist Anitta has been named the new executive partner of Future Farm, the “first food tech in Latin America focused on the production of plant-based meat with the same succulence, texture, and flavor as animal meat,” according to a press release. “We are a company that thinks about the future, the environment, and, above all, the way people eat,” Anitta expressed. Her role is to help in the democratization and growth of the category in the country, as well as influence and educate consumers in this market.

Knight x an autistic / ADHD person who rdies horses and lvoed dragons

Ah yes! This is the shit I live for.

Ever since you were a kid you practically lived and breathed the equestrian lifestyle haben had spent most of your youth with the horses and fowls that slept in the stables that laid beyond a crooked and rotten fence so much so that you fell asleep upon the hay of an empty stable only to wake up in the comfort of your bed it made the events of yesterday look like a dream. Needless to say your easy distract-ability caused a lot of worry and panic on your parents end but after the second and theirs time they would know where to go when to fetch for you for dinner or set a reminder on your phone. It was an effective tactic as there would be days where you’d go back home when needed after horse riding and maintaining the horses but that was a very much a 50/50 chance of occurring but a feet of improvement none the less.

When you weren’t at the stables you would be out dragon scouting. Dragons were fascinating creatures. Their origins varied depending who you talked to and not one were alike the other. So when you weren’t interested in anything equestrian you’d be found sitting in an opening in a field waiting for any signs of dragons, wyverns, drake, wyrm, amphiptere and or Lindwrum to pas you by doing their own thing. You normally came up short but that didn’t stop you from imagining all the other species of dragon that had yet to be documented it was an exciting prospect.

So when you met knight cookie you almost knocked him down for a split second for a chance to admire the healthy and well cared for purebred he’d been leading by the reigns. The horse was well trained, their coat was phenomenal, their hooves looked freshly taken care of and their main was so silky that if you were to brush their hair it would be like brushing water. Needless to say the horse was an absolute specimen of the highest calibre a purebred could be, at least you believed the horse was a purebred. Hard to tell under all that equipment. Knight was about to start scolding when words only failed him as he saw how gentle and respectfully admired his trusted stead he didn’t know what to say but that wasn’t needed as when you came back to reality to notice the awkward knight sitting on the ground was when the apologies started as you helped him up, brushing him down of invisible dust a tad embarrassed yourself.

“I’m sorry! I just saw your horse and noticed how beautiful they were and just had to get a closer look to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me. Again I’m so sorry I should’ve asked.” Knight brushed off your apology, knowing you didn’t mean any actual harm only to cast his eyes to where his horse thought that now would be a great time to leave him alone and had began galloping off in the distance with his stuff still strapped to the saddle and in the direction where a local farmers market was being held. “Apology accepted, listen you clearly know how to handle horses, so how about you help me wrangle my horse before they ruining the farmers market?” Blinking twice you looked for the horse, not believing what he was saying for a second before catching sight of it’s tail hairs fading from view before booking after it, leaving poor knight cookie with his struggle to catch up with you. Yellings for the horse to stop went completely unheard.

Anyways onto the relationship!

- horseback riding dates are a thing! You’d go through the woods, find a nice clearing and have a cute little picnic break with some snacks and water for the horses. Though if you went horseback riding alone in the woods chances are he’d have to come and get you as there was a high possibility you were either asleep on the horse or distracted by some fungi growing.

- if your dream was to become a dragonologist, knight would help you find traces, proof, etc of other species of dragons yet to be documented which meant you’d probably have moved several times to fulfil your book but it was a nice change of scenery and meant you got intrigued by the little things whilst adventuring together. This also includes crude drawings of the dragons and what they might’ve looked like alive.

- then there are days where you have a little downtime to yourselves and you spend it giving the horses in the stables a freshen up or cuddle in bed cuz I believe that knight is most affectionate behind closed doors.

Intricate - what's a subject you have random knowledge about?

B-17 "Flying Fortress" planes. Four engine, nine gun bomber planes from WW2.

Random facts; Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, piloted B-17s when he served in the Pacific.

There are only around a dozen airworthy planes still left today.

Spitfire and Mustang fighters flew with the B-17s for extra protection. The bomber crews referred to them as 'Little friends".

Once when the fuses for the landing gear were shot up, an engineer used spent 50. calibre shell casings to fix the circuit. It worked and the plane landed safely.

The B-17 was famous for being able to survive heavy damage. The "All American" collided with another plane in mis air, nearly severing the tail. The crew had to make their way back to England at a lower speed and altitude, alone. It took two hours to turn the plane around because of the turning circle needed to not snap the tail off. And the tail gunner was still stuck there the whole time. The plane was eventually landed safely and the story goes that it was only after the last of the crew had left the plane that she finally snapped in half.

And my favourite fact/story:

In 1943, Lt Charles Brown was piloting the "Ye Old Pub" on a mission over Germany. In the fighting, plane was heavily damaged and the crew severely wounded. Brown was trying to get the plane home on 40% power. The plane was spotted by German ace fighter pilot Franz Stigler. When Stigler saw the damaged to the plane and the injured crew, he decided not to fire. instead he brought his Messerschmitt into formation beside the B-17 to protect them from anti-aircraft guns on the ground. Stigler flew escort until they reached the coast, saluted Brown and flew back to Europe. Brown's plane landed safely in England. In 1986, after retelling the story at a pilots reunion, Brown was inspired to try and find the pilot that protected them. It took four years but eventually he was reunited with Stigler. They became close friends, taking holidays and fishing trips together, for the next eighteen years before passing away within months of each other in 2008.

Macabre - you have peculiar interests?

Weird history and stories. Found these awesome podcasts like “The Darker Side of Life” and “Lore” that talk about strange stories from history, paranormal, true crime. I can easily binge listen for ages. Usually when driving or cooking so I have time to listen. 

Spooky - do you believe in the supernatural?

Definitely. I’ve hade encounters over the years that I can only explain as ghosts or spirits. Mostly positive or neutral. But once I was punched in the back by something invisible. There was nothing and no one near me but I felt the impact for the next five minutes. Found out later that the building I was in is very haunted. I’ve seen photos and EVP recordings from there and it’s very creepy. 

Vintage - Favourite decade?

The 1920s. I like something about a lot of eras but the 20s was just wow. The clothes, music, architecture. Bi-planes and Roadsters. The 20s has this amazing story telling potential. Things like The Mummy, Miss Fisher, High Road to China. The 20s just has this perfect feel for adventure stories.
