Why this is Dan's hand:

(inspired by this post) (bc I wrote too much for the tags) (this is just for fun, that post was great and I have nothing against you)

let's jump in!

Here are the main reasons it's Dan:

his shoulder angle

the pinky finger

phil's clumsiness

(bonus- skin tone)

First- his shoulder!

If you're sleeping, that usually means something is true: that you're confortable. Now, considering his shoulder's angle, there's a few places his arm could be.

Aww he's sleeping. eepy guy. He's only got one arm for now.

We can see in the picture that his shoulder is up, so his arm could be like this. HOWEVER, his shoulder isn't up far enough for my drawing to be actuality. If his arm were outstretched, it would likely be more like this:

Which, possible. Comfortable, even. Except look at the cushions in the background. They're so squished. We know about the sofa crease on the previous couch. It was a whole thing. (the sofa photo I'm using doesn't represent their actual couch.) Because the pillows are so flattened and squished, if his arm were outstretched, it would look more like this:

You wouldn't have your arm fully straight because it would be uncomfortable on your elbow joint thing. Like locking your knees but your elbow. Your hand would fall asleep. (though, your hand would probably fall asleep in either of those positions too...)

Phil was probably sitting really close to Dan. Judging from the camera angle, and well... *CoughWDAPTEO2cough* (see bottom of post)

So let's add a little phil to my diagram.

aww lookit him! hes got no arms. thats ok. he doesnt need any. anyways. look at where Dan's arm is now. "ThEy'Re ToUcHiNg!!" Yeah, exactly. Phil would be laying back on Dan's arm. Dan's arm would fall asleep or be squished. Maybe, then, his arm could be like this, behind phil's head, without Phil actually putting weight on Dan's arm:

Yeah, his arm wouldn't fall asleep like that. But we can see his shoulder. We know his shoulder isn't at that angle. So? What can we conclude?

His arm is either like. Straight out, across Phil's chest (which, his shoulder would be a different angle for that too, bc Phil's not 2D, plus Phil would have been unable to move to take this photo or put his glasses on dan) OR:

we can conclude that his hand must be somewhere by his face. From his shoulder's angle, it could be lower on his face, except that there's only one hand in the photo.

Second- the pinky finger!

this finger. That's not a pointer finger.

(not the same pose, but close enough.) Your pinky finger faces outward. The finger in the glasses photo is a pinky.

Now put your left hand out like someone's face is in front of you and you're putting your hand on it, like the glasses photo. Your pointer finger would be closer to the right, where the camera is, right? Unless you're missing fingers (which dan and phil are not)

Third- Phil! (Taken from @dip-the-pip's tags on the og post)

we know Phil is clumsy. He does not have control of his limbs or hand-eye coordination. Ask the multiple Christmas decorations he's injured. It's honestly a bit of a miracle he could get the glasses on Dan without waking him up. There's no way he'd be able to gently pick up his head for the photo. Plus, if he was propping his head up for the photo, wouldn't he do it at a better angle?

Bonus- phil is super pale!!

this photo's a bit old, obviously, but you clearly see the difference in their hand skin tones on the bottom two hands. In the glasses photo, the hand is the same color as dan. The lighting in the room of the glasses photo is very warm, however, so this is not a super strong piece of evidence.

I was thinking. What are your Paw Patrol headcanons? If you want to say them obvious.

Hmm, I have a lot of headcanons.

Chase:

Ryder found him first and they talked about setting up the PAW Patrol together. Chase was really jealous of Marshall at first when he joined the PAW Patrol, because he saw Marshall being there as evidence that he wasn't good enough for Ryder. He also hated Marshall's jokes at first, since he's very professional and expected everyone else to be like that, too.

He has GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) even though he probably also has trauma/PTSD from his time in Adventure City. He deals with it by clinging to his routines really hard. He frets a lot about not feeling good enough and is really perfectionistic.

He's a theater kid (this is based mostly on that one episode, Pups Save a Show, where Chase was really into it lol).

He tries to hide his symptoms whenever he's sick and acts like he's fine until it's obvious that he's not. He doesn't like resting when he's sick because it makes him feel "lazy". He's also a hypochondriac and goes to Marshall begging for examinations all the time, though. He only pretends that nothing's wrong when he's actually sick.

He likes to pretend that he has no emotions in public but everyone knows that he does. He's the type to try to hide that he cries at movies and stuff.

He doesn't hang out with the other pups that often. He's mostly a loner. He hangs out with Marshall and Skye sometimes but that's about it. He only really opens up around Marshall or Ryder.

He doesn't know how to feel about Zuma. They get along, but they're so different that they're kind of distant with each other. Chase really admires Zuma's relaxed nature and wishes that he could be a little more like that, though.

He wakes up at like 5 or some early hour and goes for a run. He's really disciplined, but the rest of the pups think that it's weird.

Chase and Skye were in a relationship (based mostly on the first season in general when they were pushing Skase hard) before they realized that they were gay/lesbian respectively and broke up on good terms. It was awkward for both of them afterwards for a while, though.

When he told Ryder that he was gay, he was really scared and thought that Ryder was going to think that he was weird or something. But Ryder was completely fine with it.

Chase is a history nerd (this is likely because I am a history nerd, lol).

He tends to like muscular pups but he likes dating Marshall (a certified twink) because he can feel like he's the big buff pup.

He has trouble sleeping sometimes because he worries about practically everything.

Chase doesn't believe in jail and thinks that criminals need rehabilitation instead.

He's very polite to everyone when he's on missions, calling them sir or ma'am.

Marshall:

Marshall's the "therapist" of the pups since they all need one. He frets a lot about his abandonment issues (based mostly on Pups Save a Friend, the episode where Marshall left the PAW Patrol).

Marshall and Skye watch rom-coms (Hallmark movies, ect.) together.

Marshall's a psychology nerd and tends to diagnose everyone with something even if they only show some of the symptoms or if it's really mild (likely because I am a psychology nerd, lol).

Marshall mostly hangs out with Skye and Zuma. He tried really hard to include everyone, though. He has to fix Zuma and Skye pretty regularly after they nearly fracture their legs trying to hanglide or something.

Chase and Marshall have been together for around a year and a half and they're by far the most stable of the pups relationship-wise. They hardly ever argue because they know how to communicate with each other, and if they do it's over small stuff like cleaning their puphouses or something.

Chase hardly ever comes to Marshall's puphouse because he has "scary" dental supplies in there (not that a real ambulance would have that but Marshall needs a little bit of everything in there).

Marshall questions if he's gay or if he's bi and is mostly gay-leaning. It's not a big deal to him to put a label on it, though.

He likes to hate-watch Grey's anatomy and complains at the TV over all the medical inaccuracies. Chase hates watching cop shows because of all the inaccuracies.

Marshall really likes it whenever Chase wears his uniform.

Rocky:

Everyone else (except Ryder) has no clue what he's talking about 50% of the time. He'll talk about quarks or something without explaining anything and just expect the pups to keep up.

He's a loner, a lot like Chase. He spends most of his time building stuff with Ryder.

He hates talking about his feelings and tends to ignore them.

He's in an on-again, off-again relationship with Zuma. Rocky just likes Zuma's bad boy energy.

He has a garden, where he grows vegetables (he's very practical, he wouldn't grow flowers). He's also vegan.

He has a kind of half-friendly rivalry with Chase over whether Chase or Rocky is Ryder's favorite pup. (If any of the pups asked, Ryder would say that he doesn't have a favorite, but is that really true?)

He reads scientific articles for fun.

He didn't like Zuma at first just because he didn't like water.

When Rocky first came to the PAW Patrol, Marshall tried to be really friendly, but he went over-the-top with it and Rocky thought that it was a little annoying. Rocky barely talked to anyone except Ryder for a few months after he joined the PAW Patrol. He's not shy, he just didn't feel the need to.

He probably has autism.

He's gay, but he doesn't see it as a big deal.

When it's raining, Zuma cuddles with him under a blanket sometimes, since he's scared of the rain.

The only time that Rocky and Skye interact is when Skye needs something for her helicopter.

Zuma:

Zuma's the type to flirt with everyone for fun and not really mean it. He's allergic to committed relationships. Rocky's fine with them being polyamorous, even though Rocky wouldn't date anyone else, but he keeps breaking up with Zuma because he feels like Zuma doesn't really care about him.

Zuma and Skye listen to One Direction and stuff like that sometimes (since all of their vehicles have radios, according to the episode Pup Pup Boogie).

Everest and Zuma like hanging out doing adrenaline junkie stuff together (with Skye, sometimes). Zuma likes Jake because he smokes weed.

Zuma never really properly came out as bi, everyone just figured it out really quickly through context.

Zuma and Wildcat have a kinship.

He thinks that Chase is uptight and needs to loosen up, and that Marshall is boring now since he spends most of his time with Chase.

He likes partying a lot.

He regularly stays up until around 3 AM and sleeps in until noon or so.

He's jealous that Chase gets to go on so many missions and makes passive-aggresive jokes about how Chase is Ryder's favorite.

Zuma's really bad at accepting his feelings. He's quasi-accepting of other's feelings, but he just doesn't like thinking too deeply about that kind of stuff.

Skye:

She feels a little like an outsider among the PAW Patrol because she's the only girl.

She calls everyone "girl" like how Zuma calls everyone dude and they just have to deal with it. Marshall and Zuma take it in stride, but everyone else gets a little weirded out by it, especially Chase.

The PAW Patrol pups had to take college-like classes taught by Ryder before they got their jobs, and Skye had to take a lot of classes on meteorology and physics and stuff (which actual pilots don't have to do but oh well). Chase didn't have to take as many classes as the others, since he just did police academy training, but he took a lot of English and History classes afterwards. Rocky got an Environmental Engineering degree while Zuma barely passed his classes and that was only because Rocky helped him. Marshall had to basically become proficient at everything in the medical field (he's an EMT but basically does the work of a doctor, so he has to know his stuff).

Skye has a crush on Sweetie purely because of her accent, she's well aware that Sweetie's horrible lol.

Everyone tends to come to Skye for romance advice, and she revels in the drama and gossip.

Skye loves it when she gets sick because she gets attention and sympathy. She plays up minor symptoms a lot lol.

She's probably the pup who's the least close to Ryder. She just doesn't talk to him a lot.

Skye would be the most likely pup to growl, but it would sound really high-pitched. It doesn't sound intimidating at all, but none of the pups tell her that.

Ryder:

He's so bad at relating to people his age or younger because he just doesn't understand them.

He's either graduated from high school really early or he's taking self-paced online classes (he's the type to call a year's worth of schoolwork easy and do it all in like two weeks right before the deadline).

He volunteered at an animal shelter before finding Chase. He hated that he couldn't take all of the dogs there home with him, though.

Ryder brings in pups that he finds on the side of the road or hurt pups to the Lookout constantly. He fixes them up (it's mostly Marshall) and then gives them a home somewhere in Adventure Bay.

He probably wanted to be a vet or a scientist or something like that when he was a little kid.

The PAW Patrol was really poor when they started out (since Ryder said in the movie that they made their funding off of merch sales), and was probably initially funded by tax money.

He has a PAW Patrol official Instagram or Twitter account. He mostly uses it to post cute pictures of the pups every once in a while.

He stays up until 3 AM practically every night and subsists off of coffee and energy drinks. He eats very sporadically because he loses track of time (Rocky does this too, even though he's a little better at Ryder at eating, usually). He might have autism like how Rocky does, and if he does he's definitely a savant.

Ryder keeps a spreadsheet on what pups have been on what missions to try and keep everything fair.

Ryder's an atheist (based on that Halloween special in season one where Ryder keeps saying that there has to be a logical explanation when the pups are scared of ghosts). If he was religious, Chase would probably be too, though.

I learned what a bullet journal was by watching a few YouTube artists set theirs up and my algorithm spiraled out of control from there so I guess I have all the bujo influencers to thank for getting into it because it has been a godsend so far on my third attempt, but damn if the over emphasis on aesthetic over the actual practical organizational aspect of it doesn't rankle me a bit

[thirty rambling tags later] huh. I didn't know there was a thirty tag limit in all the years I've been on tumblr. Whatevs I can't copy paste the tags onto the main body because I'm on mobile and I don't want to write it out again so I'll just summarize the last bit here:

If you are browsing the bujo tag because you feel bullet journaling will help you but you feel intimated because you don't think you can make it look pretty, or that the bullet journal method could never help you because it looks exhausting or the inspo you see doesn't cover what you need, I am pleading with you to ignore all the pretty inspiration, take the most common and even original Ryder Carroll formats and spreads with a grain of salt and eliminate or change them as needed, and talk to people who have similar needs than you even if they don't bujo and suss out what's important to keep track of. My bujo is eighty percent important medical bullshit, because that's what I need more than a book tracker. You prolly have your own unique needs. And hell, if you want a book tracker then add a booktracker. It's your bujo to format and plan out.

So like if you want to start bullet journaling, go to Michaels and get a seven dollar Artist's Loft dot grid journal. Or a binder you have left over from school years past and print out your own dot grid paper if you have enough ink and paper and printer that can do double sided (Kevin McLeod's site I forget the name of has free adjustable dot and other grids I've used), or buy a pack of 8.5x11 dot grid paper, and grab a crappy hole punch that just barely does the job. Get yourself a nice pen you think looks and feels nice in your hand and on the paper–or if that doesn't matter to you go get pack of Bics or even pencil if that's what you prefer (I use a pencil for things I can't have be permanent, like temporary meds or the dates of yearly vaccines). If you're twitchy about messing up then get the cheapest wite out they have (but don't worry about messing up especially if you're not even showing it off to anybody). A cheap yellow highlighter if you think it'll help. And a ruler if straight lines are important to you. I lost mine so I just wobble my lines now I don't care (and it's marginally easier to get a line adjacent to straight with a dot grid)

Anyway. If you want to bullet journal but don't know where to start or how to make it pretty or how to make it work for your needs, just try it in the cheapest way possible and rearrange the guts of the bujo as you see fit. And don't worry about the optics as long as you can make sense of your methods and writing.

(and for the love of God if you're bipolar don't make an hourly mood tracker yes our moods can and will fluctuate throughout the day but goddamn was that a bitch to log and abandoned a few weeks after inking it out)

#i see this with in regular journaling/diary circles too #people saying 'i want to start a bujo/diary but I'm not good enough at art ☹️'#like more power to you if you can make it pretty but it shouldn't be the primary emphasis especially with how useful it is #(it's especially depressing with just regular diaries and journals because like. you're under no obligation to share that shit with anybody)#I'm on my third bujo attempt because i got overwhelmed with my first two because i didn't know how to customize it with me and my needs #the most i got about symptom tracking was like a weekly layout checking off if the criteria was hit #and mood tracking was like daily smiley or frowny face in the corner #like my siblings in planning that is not enough for my chronically ill bipolar ass lol #i went way overboard my first attempt with just mood tracking. i planned it out HOURLY. every week #and that got overwhelmingly tedious and i use overwhelmingly deliberately. so i just stopped mood tracking #and then the whole thing got overwhelming so i stopped it entirely #gave it another shot because my method of scheduling things and symptom tracking was to write appointments and symptoms on post its #and pray they didn't fall off and i could remember where i even put them #and i see a lot of doctors so that was a LOT post its to keep track of #so i did another bujo but had the same problem as lack of resources and inspo and how to make it work for my needs #plus future logs were hard to parse AND i often felt too tired to lay out a new month or two every time #so like there were just whole months and the symptoms and appointments within just missing and i might as well not even have a bujo #so i stopped that one too #FINALLY after a little bit more watching Ryder Carroll and looking at prefab medical planners that were still woefully inadequate #AND MORE IMPORTANTLY talking to my fellow chronically ill. mentally ill. disabled. or all three. friends on what i should jot down #i finally got a system that worked for me thus far #i got rid of even staples like future logs and just laid out a monthly calendar format because that was easier FOR ME #and i laid out the year in advance so i could still have the scheduling part of i was too tired to do entire layouts at the beginning of the #month #my mood tracker was merged with my symptom tracker and turned into a symptoms *list*#with a section for every specialist i see. mood stuff just went under psych/therapist #also i switched to a binder format instead of a bound book for even more flexibility #i can easily remove things i no longer need. i can rearrange what goes in what section. i can easily add more to a section before the next #bujo #bullet journal

What does each member of DDMC represent? I remember that Haru represents storms, and Renho represents waterfalls, I think? But what about the others? I'm asking because I remember you already saying it, but it was such a long time ago!

Their OG representations are:

-Sayu: Deep ocean. Self explanatory lol.

-Aoi: Over fishing/nets/plastic in the ocean (more of an awareness campaign with him than trying to represent those ideas. If you want a more true representation of him, he's more like the idea of wildlife in general in the ocean).

-Haru: Sea is the weather that the ocean faces. Mainly it is storms, especially ones that would destroy giant boats and be legends that sailors and marines would pass on.

-Yua: She's supposed to be the time? Kinda? She's supposed to show beautiful picture perfect sunsets. I guess it would be better to say that she represents beaches and low tide kind of environments than just saying she represents time lol.

-Renho: They are waterfalls yes! But they also represent fresh water environments! (since I don't think there are any real consistent salt water waterfalls). Their last form is supposed to be more like a swamp/marsh and waterfall vibe to it.

Their Halloween representations are:

-Sayu: Candy, sweets, all the treats you can get on the holiday.

-Aoi: Represents the costume side of things the most. Like dressing up and having fun pretending to be something else!

-Haru: The tricks! Sea is basically the one who promotes buying toys and trinkets that are used to trick people!

-Yua: She's the decorations! Promoting pumpkin carving and hanging up all kinds of things to get into the holiday!

-Renho: The paranormal/scary stories. They are the one trying to create a tense atmosphere and then release a scare!

Their Christmas/Winter/End of year holiday representations are:

-Sayu: Caroling, singing, bells and having a cheery attitude.

-Aoi: The cold weather (even though Malaysia doesn't really get all that cold). He's the snow, snowglobe, snowman, snow angels. All that jazz that's supposed to comes with the cold.

-Haru: Feasting, food, eating. Making cookies and memories. Drinking hot cocoa and all the warm feelings you are supposed to get when with family and friends.

-Yua: She's supposed to represent love and care for each other directly (especially since she is a mistletoe).

-Renho: They are the decorations. Their tail is a Christmas tree and so probably also represent gift giving and thinking of others.

And finally, their animal representations are:

-Sayu: Bunny.

-Aoi: Wolf.

-Haru: Fox.

-Yua: Dragonfly.

-Renho: Butterfly.
