I’ve seen some questions/debate about whether GodGale still truly loves Tav after he’s become a God, and while I think the dev notes pretty much confirm that he does, I’d like to also add this observation:

When Gale ascends and becomes the God of Ambition, he changes his appearance into what he considers to be his most Godlike form: an impressive, statuesque, muscular being, one that looks almost like a work of art chiseled from stone. It’s what GodGale believes to be his most perfect self; one so very different from his previous (and in his eyes, pathetic) mortal form.

And yet, when he ascends Tav—even if they are an Ilithid!—he doesn’t change a single damn thing about their appearance other than their outfit.

Because in his eyes, Tav is already perfect just as they are.
