Get Back Rewatch 55 Years On: Day 17

George is so sweet to put so much effort into helping Ringo write his song and to not ask for any kind of writing credit. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, right? But also, I’d do that for Ringo too if I were him. Ringo deserves it for everything he’s given to that band and the little credit he’s received.

I do have to just include this here. From my Get Back book. I never heard, “was it sexually oriented?” on the nagra reels, but apparently that’s what Peter Jackson’s cleaned-up version gave him, and again, he was like, “hmm. Too gay.”

He’s known Heather for how long? Less than a year, right? But if somebody had showed me just this footage and told me he’d raised her from a newborn, I would not blink an eye. That kind of tired but fond interaction is exactly how a dad plays with his kid. And she’s climbing all over him and bossing him around like he’s never not been in her life. It’s beautiful.

And John, with his “are you going to eat them?” is the perfect sort of bad-example favorite uncle. The kind that would check her out of school when she’s older and go get her ears pierced when her dad had said she was too young.

Sorry, I promise I’m not just going to be thirsting over dad Paul this whole time. I have to just make one thing clear, and this is the only thing I’ll say on the subject and then I’m done. If a man is a 3 and a good dad, he’s a 10. Paul was already an 11, so I’m literally just done-for. Okay, I’ll shut up.

John and Paul doing their usual thing, only paying attention to each other. Talking about an Elvis gospel ending for Let it Be. George, smirking, stands up: and we’ll all kneel as you do it. If John had said it, Paul would be in stitches. But George said it, and he might as well have never opened his mouth for all the notice he gets. And it’s honestly heartbreaking, if you can take your eyes off of the insanity of John and Paul’s weird eye-contact, to watch George’s face go from excited at his own wit and hopeful for a laugh to just completely downcast. Twelve years of that. Twelve years.

Ringo, you’re an absolute saint. He’s being so sweet to Heather, even letting her mess with his symbols, and then Paul has the audacity to tell him to “keep it lighter.” Like. Paul. Do you think that maybe the fact that he’s got a five-year-old over there “helping” him might have anything to do with how the drums are coming out? Just a thought. Anyone else would at least have something to say about it. Ringo just sort of nods along but he looks SO tired.

TFW you’re inspiring the next generation of women to be loud and free and take up space.

“Dig it” is actually insane to me. I know I’m crazy, but remember those twin dreams they had about buried treasure when they first met? “If you want it, you can dig it up.” ???

When George and Paul just jump into harmonizing together when they’re talking about The Long and Winding Road arrangement? Their voices are like magic together. I wish they would’ve had George sing that part in the final thing, actually.

I’ve known Jason for a while now. We met in elementary and our dads are business partners. We basically spend every last second together. So when we found out we were moving again we weren’t too upset. I mean, yeah, I made friends. Jason however, not so much. I was sad to leave them but I’ll have JD with me.

*3rd person pov*

Y/N started to unload a moving truck outside her new house.

“Y/N? Where are you”, her dad shouted.

“Outside, dad!”, she shouted back.

“Ah, there you are. The Deans will be here shortly. I’ll give you a hand with those”, says her dad.

“Thanks, dad”, she smiled.

*time skip: 20 mins*

*knock knock*

Y/N goes to answer the door.

“That’s the Deans kiddo!”, her dad lightly shouts.

She opens the door and is greeted to Big Bud and Jason.

“Hi Y/N/N, your dad in?”, Bud says.

“Yep. Kitchen. Down the hall”, she says with a small grin.

Bud steps into the house and down the hall.

“Hey! Rory! How are ya?”, Bud says. It’s the last thing she hears before they close the door.

“Wanna small tour?”, Y/N turns to JD.

“I’m down, m’lady”, he says jokingly, bowing down to Y/N and sticking his hand out for her to grab.

“Why let’s go, kind sir”, she replies, grabbing his open hand and leading him into the house.

“Living room”, she says pointing into the room. “Hallway”, she walks up the stairs, JD trailing behind, still holding her hand. “Bathroom”, they walk towards another door. “My room, dads room and Thomas’ room”, she said, pointing to each door as they walk by.

Thomas is Y/Ns younger brother. He’s about 6 years younger. She’s 17, he’s 11.

“Here, follow me”, she smirks, grabbing his hand and pulling him to her bedroom.

“Look, window goes onto the kitchen roof. We should sneak out sometime”, she grins.

“I’m so down”, JD says with joking sternness.

“So”, she sighs plopping onto the bed. “First day of school tomorrow”

“Yep, dreading it. Westerburg high. I’ve heard some rumours”, he groaned.

“Oh yeah? Did you hear the one about the 2 dudes who are practically date rapists?”, she groans back.

“Nope. Heard about the heathers. 3 of them. All called heather. They’re, apparently, absolute bitches,” he complained.

“Yippee! Goodie gum drops”, she says with sarcastic excitement.

“Wanna ride in on the motorcycle?”, he asks, plopping down next to me.

“As long as you don’t kill me, sure”, she laughs.

They stay quite for a minute. Y/N turns to look at him. He’s already looking at her. She smiles awkwardly.

“Welp, i better go wake up Thomas”, she says while standing up.

“Oh yeah, I’ll come with ya”, Jason says following her.

Time skip (September 9th)

“GET UP KIDS”, Rory, Y/Ns dad yells.

“Ughhh”, Y/N groans while stretching to get up. “Fuck this shit I don’t wanna go to school”, she mumbles, dragging on the ‘ol’ at the end of ‘school’.

She starts to get dressed, brushes her hair, washes her face and brushes her teeth, and finally, gets breakfast.

“Someone seems happy to go to school”, Rory says, laughing at Y/N.

“Dont even start, dad. I’m already suicidal and I haven’t even gotten there yet”, she groans.

“Goodmorning!!”, Thomas says, skipping down the hall.

“Now, that, that’s excitement”, Y/N laughs grabbing her toast from the toaster.

Rory laughs. “Hey Tom, excited for your first day?”

“Hell yeah! I already met a boy who lives on this street whose in my class! He said I can hang out with him and his friends!”, he says excitedly.

“Time?”, Y/N asks.

“Quarter to eight, you better get heading”, Rory says, turning to look at Y/N.

“I will. When Jason gets here anyways. I’m going with him today”, She says, checking the window for JD.

“Alright, go wait in the living room”, Rory says.

She goes and sits in the living room and starts checking to make sure she has everything.

*Knock knock*

“JDS HERE! BYE DAD. BYE TOM. LOVE YOU BOTH”, Y/N yells, getting replies of “love you too” and “have a good day honey” in return.

“You ready to go?”, Jason asks, as Y/N opens the front door.

“Yep, let’s motor”, She says heading to the motorcycle.

She holds on to Jason’s torso as the fly through the little streets of Sherwood, until they arrive at the school.

“Come on, give me your hand”, JD says holding his hand out to Y/N.

She takes in a deep breath and takes Jason’s hand as they start to walk into the school.

She feels like everyone’s staring at her, but in reality, nobody is.

They go to the main office.

“Ah hello, you two must be Jason Dean and Y/N L/N, it’s lovely to meet you both”, the secretary looks down to their hands, “awh, are you two dating? That’s adorable”, she smiles.

“No, we’re just really close friends”, Jason laughed. Y/N laughed too.

“Awh what a shame, you would look lovely together. Anyways, your first class is the same. Both in Ms Flemings english”, she says while handing the pair their timetables.

They both mutter a ‘thanks’ and wish the secretary a good day and start to walk to class.

“She was funny”, Y/N says.

“Hah, yeah, she was”, Jason replies.

They walk into the class.

They’re early.

Ms Fleming is already there. Y/N and Jason introduce themselves.

“Ah! I’ve heard about new students! It’s so amazing to meet you two!”, she says happily.

‘She’s gonna be fun’, Y/N thinks.

“Sadly guys, there is a seating plan. So, you are gonna be away from each other. Jason you’ll be sitting here”, she says walking down to a seat near the middle in the 3rd row. “And Y/N you’ll be here”, she says walking to another seat a bit further back, in the 5th row, at the very edge, next to a window.

“Dont worry, I put you next to our best, nicest students. Jason, your next to Veronica, and Y/N your next to Jamie”, she says, clapping her hands together.

The bell goes off and in seconds the class starts to fill with students.

Y/N and Jason take their seats.

*Y/Ns first person POV*

After I sit down a boy takes the seat next to me.

That must be jamie

He looks at me weirdly, clearly trying to see if he’s seen me before.

“Hey”, he says.

“Oh, hi”, I say back returning a small smile.

“You new here?”, he asks.

“Yup, just came today”, I reply.

“Awh cool, you want me to help you around?”, he asks.

I completely forget about Jason and say: “yeah, that’ll be nice. I don’t really have anyone to help me around anyways”

“Ah! We’re gonna be best friends. I already know”, he smiles.

I smiled back.

He’s really nice

I look over towards Jason and see him talking to the girl next to him. That must be Veronica.

She’s really pretty….

WOW CALM DOWN Y/N HES YOUR BEST FRIEND HELLO?? YOU DO NOT HAVE A CRUSH ON JD STOP.

Jamie and I talk and laugh for a bit resulting in a few dirty flares from JD.

After class, Jamie and I walk out and I see Jason running up behind us.

I feel his arm wrap around me. “Hey”, he whispered into my ear. Wow.

“Oh, JD, hi! This is Jamie”, I said, smiling and pointing at Jamie.

“Hm”, Jason says, giving him that look.

“Well, hello to you too”, Jamie says with mock anger.

*time skip to lunch*

JD and I didn’t have the same classes after English. I had math with Jamie though, and Veronica was in my class. She kept glaring at me? It was very strange.

“Hey hey hey”, Jason says walking over to me. “Good first part of the day?”, he asked.

“Not to shabby. What about you?”

“The works”, he says.

“Hey, slushies after school today? On me”, he asks. “I’m down”, I reply, smiling.

“Hello Jason Dean”, I look up and see Veronica Sawyer smiling down at JD.

“Greetings and salutations”, He smirks.

I mentally cringed.

“I must say you’re very good in English”, she says sitting down next to him.

OKAY HELLO? WE WERE HAVING A CONVERSATION, BITCH.

“The extreme always seems to make an impression”, he somehow smirks even more.

“You busy after school”, she asks.

I want to shout at her saying he has plans with me. But I don’t.

“Nope, none”, he says.

What.

I sigh, not loud enough for him to hear.

I look around to see if I could go anywhere else. I see Jamie smiling at me, he sees i de him and waves me over.

Fuck it.

I get up and walk over to him. He’s with one other girl. She seems nice.

“Y/NNNN!”, Jamie yells.

“Hey”, I say, placing my bag down next to Jamie. “Y/N, this is Carrie, Carrie this is Y/N”, Jamie smiles.

“Hi, nice to meet you”, I say to Carrie. “Nice to meet you too! Welcome to Westerburg!”, she smiles.

I smile back at her.

I think this place is gonna change things..

I was such a huge fan of your work years ago; I doubt you’d remember me, but I was a mod in your discord server and kept a document organizing all the TAG AU asks you answered for reference. I don’t have any idea what name you’d have known me by back then, though, so nevermind that.

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been rereading your work after accidentally getting back into the show via seeing it in London- the current production and cast is SO gay, you’d love it- and I don’t think I really appreciated how good your writing was back when we were 17. Your work still holds up better than that of people twice your age, and you’re basically the reason I ever started writing fanfiction, for this and for anything else. Hell, I actually named myself Heather after Chandler, and I don’t think I’d have done that without reading your version of her.

I also met a group of friends through your server that I talked to for years, some of whom I still know. And the degree to which I was obsessed with Heathers- in no small part thanks to you- got me into everything else about theater. I’ve never been involved in a production of anything myself, but it’s a huge part of my life, and I’m incredibly grateful to you and fans like you who help people fall in love with stories like Heathers.

I wish you the absolute best, and, though you’re (understandably) no longer hyperfixated on Heathers, I hope you keep writing whatever you like and sharing your talents with the rest of us.

this was very nice to read (sorry about late reply im on the grind yknow how it goes) but i am so glad my work inspired you as much as it did and that it has still stuck with you. it's funny you came back when you did, TAG is about two fics away from its end! i often refer to TAG as just a silly fanfiction i wrote when i was 17 but seeing stuff like this does warm my heart a lot and remind me why i loved writing it as much as i did so thank you for taking the time to write this out!!! <3

Future leosagi.

I experimented with the colouring a bit in the second one. Also inspired by “Seventeen” from Heathers the Musical.

Context: In the future, Usagi and Leo have a very rocky relationship, yes they love eachother but Leo is very closed off when it comes to partners or family, due to the Krang targeting loved ones. Usagi and Leo elope very young (17 or 18). They have an argument where Usagi questions if Leo even loves him anymore, this leads to Usagi saying “Can’t we be Seventeen?” Wishing that they still acted how they did when they were 17 (when they first met), Leo says nothing and this leads to Usagi pretty much divorcing him and storming out. He never came back (He passed very young at 21). Leo now lives with this guilt of not saying anything.

I've seen a lot of people say hes like, 19-20 in ROB/DOB and 23ish in RTTE but I just, can't believe that ROB/DOB dagur isn't like 16-17 with how he acts. yes, it's an entire different era and his title is literally the deranged but like???

what 20 year old is out here acting a fool like this

Well, friends, here to provide an answer is yours truly.

I have recently started on a South Park ficlet book over on Wattpad! So I’ve been juggling between writing for this blog and writing for Wattpad all week.

you’re so adorable! i love all these theories!

But in a way, i don’t imagine the weeknd’s, harry’s (or more) fans hating her because she’s such an icon so abel and harry having a crush on her isn’t weird because they’re two of many, many people. it’s sort of a natural thing for people and celebrities to have her as a celebrity crush.

to answer your questions:

1. yes, she was popular as a teenager. sure she was a spy kid, was Sam in A Cinderella Story, voiced Violet in The Incredibles when she was 13 to 16, but her breakthrough came from her role in V for Vendetta when she was only 17 and established her place as an actress with potential and range.

Following that were her roles as a lead in The Devil Wears Prada and Atonement, both iconic, must-watch movies. so she was pretty established then.

she was media trained for sure but she’s never been a wild teenager and i imagine it was her mom and theatre friends who always kept her grounded and in check. i think she’s mostly always been an introvert as well.

2. no, i don’t imagine so. there were times when she showed that questions shocked her (that were either sexist or sexual) and at first, when she was younger, she’d get very nervous but as she grew, she put people in their places so elegantly even though it’d humiliate them and surely give them a bad rep.

3. literally all of these. she’s friends with rihanna and i imagine her modelling for fenty beauty one time (maybe for fenty’s red lipstick) where it was a shoot of her and rihanna. she has such a good, unproblematic reputation among these people so they can’t really help but love her. whenever she sees beyoncé, they’re always so excited and always talk and people have a field day over “the two queens of both industry casually talking”.

omg imagine she attended a world cup match years ago and neymar was a nervous wreck and then later said in an interview that he was about to die when she greeted him.

4. i think we once said we imagine her being in The Simpsons and was in a Scooby Doo episode!

5. so many people, most recent being Drake who was presenting an award on stage and was like “Y/N Y/L/N, you’re looking so beautiful tonight” and she just smiled and wasn’t at all fazed or reactive and people all were like “there’s no way drake just tried to shoot his shot at y/n y/l/n who’s not only out of his league but is also married”

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Currently, I have a 19 works on AO3, working on making it 20 by the end of this month

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

Im at 131,179 words. Considering I have a few smaller works it makes sense

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I mainly write in the Star Wars fandom and Hetalia (but as of now solely fics that feature my APH Québec OC) But I have fics in the Good Omens fandom, Heathers the Musical, Five Nights at Freddy's Loki (TV), and I am currently writing a Harry Potter longshot

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Ring of Fire, the first part of my Deserter Darth Vader AU

What Are You Waiting For, a tragic Heather Chandler/Veronica Sawyer fic

Whatever's still to come, my Elizabeth Afton Lives au in the FNAF fandom

More beautiful than flowers... , a FrUK fic with lots of flower language.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I always try to respond to my comments, since I don't get so many, they are always welcome. I enjoy the feedback and the compliments, and I always want to respond! <3

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

What Are You Waiting For is definitely up there, considering one of the character of the main pairing is dead from the start.

I also have two super short fics in french about my Hetalia OC Québec that I consider gut wrenching, but they haven't been read much

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

The World We Knew, my Good Omens fix it fic after the devastating season 2 finale. it definitely has a lot of angst in it too, but the ending is pure fluff!

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

It has never happened, but at the same time I'm not a big author either.

9. Do you write smut?

I tried once, didn't go through with it. It was for a FrUK fic, which I didn't really like and deleted.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Before posting on AO3, it happened, it was a Marvel characters in Hogwarts thing.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No, but once again, I'm not very well known.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I wish!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Yeah, the Marvel at Hogwarts thing a lifetime ago. And also a historical fiction that never got posted anywhere.

14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?

Oooh that's a tough one! It varies like each months or so. I think I haven't even written much for it directly, but Anidala!

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

My FNAF fic. I have a super long and detailed AU outline with complexe character growth and tons of family angst with the Afton and Lizzy eventually taking over Fazbear Entertainement, but I lack time. In the meantime, I made a few artworks of it under the tag elizabeth afton lives au if you are interested.

16. What’s your writing strengths?

I'd say the inner monologue and the highly emotional scenes. I love to delve on the psyche and add parallels that hurt just write and use gut wrenching metaphors.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Highly action dense scenes. I struggle with the pacing because I picture it clearly in my mind and can't put it into words.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

It can be nice, but considering that sometime I see it with my own language, French, and with considerable mistakes, it can be annoying. I'd avise to contact someone who speaks that language a bit to crossverify google translate, that's much more fun for speakers

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Surprisingly enough, BBC Sherlock. The fic was on Wattpad and I haven't reposted it, it was a bit mid not going to lie.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

Not very controversial take, my favourite fic I've ever written is Truth for the Daughter. I've written it in the kitchen, with my own step-dad checking up on me as I struggled with some scenes. It may be full of father-daughter angst but it was written with a lot of father-daughter love. It is dedicated to my step-dad, who passed away last year because of that, and so is Interlude: A son and his father , which I completed not long before his passing. These parental fics just hold a special place in my heart <3

Hey, IDK how long this has been sitting in my inbox, so sorry to keep you waiting.

Ahh, Harringrove my beloved. Honestly there's not a whole lot I don't love about the ship, aside from I do get annoyed when I see Harringrove fics where Billy is worse than canon just for added angst. Honestly, the Harringrove fans are a big part of why I love the ship. (There's a particular ship I avoid whenever possible, and a major part of it is the shippers.) There are so many talented artists and writers but more importantly, amazingly kind and open-minded people. I wish the rest of the Stranger Things fandom was like this.

Robin I'm pretty open minded about with ships, but my favorites are Robin/Vickie (yes we don't know much about Vickie but that's never stopped a rarepare shipper before; hopefully she'll get a bit more focus in Season 5), Robin/Heather, Robin/Chrissy (the mental image of Robin bluescreening over a cheerleader crush is so delightful I wish we'd gotten to see it, and Robin would be such a sweet if awkward girlfriend to Chrissy), and last but not least, Robin/Sheena (if you haven't read 'Rebel Robin' I highly recommend it and can provide a link to a free online version if necessary; Sheena Rollins is one of my favorite characters in the book and I found her way more interesting than Tammy 'Muppet Voice' Thompson).

As for my favorite Chrissy ships, I especially love Eddissy/Hellcheer, Robin/Chrissy (as mentioned above), and Harringrovesonham, or Steve/Billy/Eddie/Chrissy (I mostly blame @robthegoodfellow's ongoing WIP 'Only One Bed' for getting me into this ship).

Ooh, Karen. Not a fan of hers, at all. She's not the WORST mother on the show (Laura Cunningham I'm looking at you) but I HATE how so many people overlook her lusting over Billy just because Cara Buono is attractive. As my mother said when I told her about Karen's interactions with Billy, "She's a grown ass woman twice his age; she should know better." If the roles were reversed and it was Ted (or a genderswapped Karen) lusting after a 17/18 year old Billie Hargrove to the point of acting like a teenager at her workplace with friends, I can't imagine it would get the same amount of support/defense from fans.
