If I were given the choice to either remain aro or become alloro again, I would choose aromanticism.

And I think a lot of people need to hear that.

I literally saw someone say laios is too autistic for romance... you guys HAVE to start being respectful to autistic people. like I know he's just a character but its emblematic of real problems. Even if it's just a joke, it is NOT FUNNY to perpetuate ableism in the form of jokes. I see like a thousand posts a day about how he has autistic swag and in the SAME POST joke about how his friends actually hate him, nobody could REALLYYY like him they're all just pretending <3, he's too autistic for sex or romance or love.

He has canonical problems in the text with people pretending to be his friend, or people secretly hating him. We've gone over and over again about how divorcing autistic people and characters from sex and romance on the whole is infantilizing. (individual ace/aro headcanons are fine, but maybe also examine where they're coming from when its characters widely seen as autistic). I feel like a lot of fans don't even realize what they're doing. oftentimes what you think is funny fan content is actually you making fun of him and excluding him from things based on his autistic traits.

And this isn't even MENTIONING the racism in making kabru be aggressive to laios for no reason all the time when kabru has genuine reason and understanding even when he thinks he might need to kill laios. OR how weird it is that people will boil down falin's autistic traits for farcille and say like "yeah she's similar to laios, but she's less of a 'freak' (AKA has developed people pleasing social skills) so marcille likes her still :)"

it was not my post, it is simply an opinion i am sharing... i am still a supporter of mental health and self care. currently i am heartbroken by the genocide of thousands of people and doing my best to do right by them. i reblogged the post because i too feel like i am "losing my mind" seeing most people in my circles on most social medias i have appear to be carrying on as normal. it feels very defeating, very strange. as someone with ocd who, you are correct, strongly advocates against "guilt tripping" in reblogs; i feel this is the one time my reblogs have actually been important. i feel that speaking up is more important than my own relaxation. i am of course aware that not everyone is up to date on the information, that not everyone knows the urgency, that not everyone has the energy. that human brains are not made to comprehend the capacity of wars outside of our own lives. that partaking in our fandom interests is of course more enjoyable than speaking of terrorism. i am not condemning any of these people. you are allowed to do whatever you want online, forever. i am just... sad? that is all.

tbh my take from the whole Pal world thing is that I genuinely think that if Game Freak didn't fumble the bag w/ SV so badly, a lot less people would be singing it's praise and treating it like another mon game. (IMHO the gameplay looks like shit, and the only designs I like are the stolen ones) And more critical of things like the whole stealing designs and, you know, Capturing and Selling Actual Human People?!?

Like this really feels like a bunch of Pokemon fans got (very understandably) burned hard by how bad SV was at launch, and wanted to find something to fill the void and/or stick it to Game Freak by showing them that much smaller developers could make something superior to the largest franchise in the world.

But y'all, there are so many better options out there (Monster Hunter Stories, Nexomon, Coromon, etc.) If you're tired of Game Freak dropping the ball so hard these past several years, I highly encourage you to play these games. There are so many creature collection games out there that are much more deserving of all the hype and media PW is getting.

#And this isn't me being a salty Pokemon fan or whatever. #I'm very critical of Game Freak esp. in the Switch era. #Like SWSH PLA and especially SV definitely needed more time in the oven. #But this ain't it #(Also I realized the irony of putting a Capcom game when they're a know Serial Bag Fumbler) #you can reblog if you want (I would prefer if you didn't since I don't want this getting any real attention.
