Tumblr media
Hello friends! First SSS of the year for me. Also an early post because I want to write after sleeping and maybe some validation early in the day will help 💖 I have six snippets from six WIPs to share (only the fifth one written today, which makes me sad because I really wanted to share new new words, but it's okay) and I want to talk about them, so I'm throwing everything under the cut with the tags.
You can vote for the WIP you'd like me to continue the most (except Like We Had A Clue, because I know people are waiting for an update and it would skew the vote hahaha). Pick one of the other 5! Though as always I'll follow inspiration and not what the people want.
Love you all <3 hope you're taking care of yourself in these trying times.
1. First EGF WIP. I have many ideas for EGF, but considering a) possible writer's blocks, b) exams, c) other non EGF related WIPs, I honestly don't know how much I'll manage to write. This one is the most “urgent” one because it's a collab with @aroace-genderfluid-sheep and he's already done so many cool things for it and I'm so excited!!! The snippet I'm sharing is all I've written for this fic. Oh well!
“You could've at least sent us to Dante's inferno. That would've been intellectually stimulating.”
“This place is plenty stimulating.”
Of course it is. It's a fucking sex dungeon.
2. Second EGF WIP. I shared something from this already. There's hope I'll finish this one because it's short, but knowing myself I can't make promises hahaha.
“I’m sorry,” they say. Their voice is deep and smooth, like I imagine a cello would sound if it could talk. “I don’t think I can have dinner with you tonight.”
I can’t hide how much it stings. Of course my monster under the bed would come out just to reject me.
3. Like We Had A Clue. Chapter 5 is outlined in detail but I'm still struggling so much with it. Have some sentences I might have shared already in the past because I wrote them months ago!
“Are you trying to trap me, Snow? Keep me here to make food for you forever?”
“What if I am?”
I raise an eyebrow. His hand is still on my arm. He lets it fall.
4. WIP I shared from a couple of weeks ago. I want to have fun with this so I'm not forcing myself to write it, but I also really want to finish it. It's a struggle, always 🤣
(There's nothing innocent about four thousand words of Fangvald having a pity wank after Cherry spat on his face and demanded to know the true motives behind his betrayal.)
But it's fanfiction. Exploring fictional worlds and fictional characters and fictional relationships.
It would say nothing about me if he hadn't also linked two of my longest 4am rants about loneliness and deserving love.
5. Mystery WIP. I started plotting it yesterday and I've already lost steam. We'll see if it ever gets written.
25/12, 11:27AM
basiltea: Of course I'll help you.
basiltea: You can't be trusted to handle this alone and make it work.
Excalisbury: I LOVE YOU
basiltea: I'm just saving you from yourself.
6. Picture book story! The issue with this one is that I have to rewrite it completely. I have @johnwgrey's super useful notes, but I hate rewriting and editing with a burning passion, and this story needs so much work it hurts. But I'll do it!
Of course Snow had no reason to trust him. The fact that Baz had decided he’d never even try to hurt him again couldn’t erase five years of antagonism. Especially because Snow didn’t know about his change of heart. (It would’ve been ridiculous. Hey, Snow, I decided I don’t hate you anymore. Quite the opposite, instead. Can I kiss you?)
That was a lot. I feel like Simon and Baz are possessing me because I want to write SO MUCH, I literally can feel the words pushing to get out, but the second I open a doc it all fades out. Ugh. Hopefully I'll be more motivated in the morning.
So many no pressure tags for you lovelies:

20 questions writer meme.
Thank you @bbcphile for the tag :)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
112 (A few are art rather than fic - but over 100 of them are fics)
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
953,545 (17 years and getting close to the 1 million words mark)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently Mysterious Lotus Casebook and MDZS. Previously Torchwood, Doctor Who, Primeval, Being Human, Rivers of London, Shetland, (these are ones with 2+ there are others with just 1 fic)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Futures Written on Shifting Sand   My only fic to pass 4 digit kudos at 2134 kudos. Unfinished wip, that I might still go back to.   My first MDZS fic, Canon divergent AU where Lan Wangji is brought back to Lotus Pier after the Xuanwu cave incident and is there for the Wen attack.
Time Enough and Life 486 kudos. A Torchwood bigbang fic for one of the big bangs that I ran back on Livejournal.
Writing up the report on the Night Travellers, Jack finds one line in the Electro guide book that confuses him – it closed in 1977. It leaves him with one question, how did Ianto watch films there if it closed six years before he was born?
As Spring Will Surely Come
MDZS. Written for the Bottomji big bang early this year, 464 kudos.
Now in their forth year of marriage Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are settled into their life together in the Cloud Recesses, looking forward to a quiet, cozy winter together in the Jingshi. A night hunt at a haunted water mill, old injuries and family illness make it a very difficult winter instead.
Going On 351 kudos. One my earliest fics, written and posted while the first series of Torchwood was still airing.
Conversations, realisations and angst set after Countrycide.
Secrets and Hope 339 Kudos. Fix it fic written in the wake of Torchwood series 3.
As Torchwood slowly rebuilds following the 456 the government is still keeping secrets from them and it's up to Ianto to reveal the truth.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to/mean to then it goes past a few days and I wonder if people really want a reply from me. Then it feels like it’s too long, that I’ve missed the timeframe for it to be reasonable.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably In Darkness one of the many Torchwood fics that I wrote.
The ending lines being:
Because if living forever is a terrifying thought, then living forever and losing himself in the process is beyond terrifying. It's something that Jack isn't sure there's a word to describe the sheer horror of it.
Huddling against Ianto, Jack supposes that at least he's got all the time in the universe to come up with one.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Maybe New Horizons Canon Divergent SongXiao in the CQL setting (I tend to write novel setting)
The decision to help a small village threatened by a vicious yaoguai brings with it danger and upsetting news that Xiao Xingchen never expected to receive. With the news comes a choice, one that will change the course of both Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan’s lives in ways that neither of them expect.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, the occasional annoying/odd comment - like asking me to use US spelling grammar or to re-write in past tense as they didn’t like present tense, or leaving a ‘sadly unfinished’ bookmark in a completed big bang fic
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, not so much in recent fandoms - but I have ideas, but Torchwood and Primeval it was a bigger part of it. Most of it had a strong kink element. Generally with the focus being on trust
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Occasionally.  The most ridiculous has to be Hex, Mainframe and the Temporal Trouser Error.
Discworld, Torchwood and Primeval. A conversation across time and space between Hex and Mainframe, two sentient computers.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I’m aware of, that is to say if anyone had they’ve not told me.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, as part of a fic writing challenge event, Out of Dark Places, written with Harkpad.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Honestly I have many ships in every fandom I’ve been in. Although Jack/Ianto will always hold as special place, because it was that ship that really brought me into fandom circles.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Probably the ridiculously ambitious alternative 4 season of Torchwood, which used my fic Secrets and Hope as a bridge between series 3 and hypothetical series 4.
13 fic ‘episodes’ which were a mix of creature of the week and had an overarching plot behind it all, using the Rift and Bilis Manger. It was all plotted out, and some ‘episodes’ partially written - but the whole thing would have been something like 300k-400k
16. What are your writing strengths?
Honestly, I don’t know. People have said that I’m good at getting inside characters’ heads.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Too many thoughts and description and not enough action, probably.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I can’t write well enough in another language to attempt it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Highlander: The TV series. That was never posted online/shared. The first to be posted/shared was Torchwood.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
That’s a difficult one, there are so many over the years - it’s been 17 years I posted by first fic online
Maybe  Northern Lights
An unlikely case fic crossover between Shetland and Rivers of London, written with fondness for the times I spent working on an archaeological dig in Shetland 23 years ago.
The theft of three Pictish stone carvings from a museum in London lead Peter and Nightingale to Shetland. The reason for the theft is clear: The stones are ancient storage devices for magical energy. Who took them and why is a lot less so. That Shetland has its own mythology and magics which are far closer to that of Scandinavia than London doesn't help matters.
Between the lack of information, the cold and wet January weather and Nightingale's cold, Peter can't help but wish they were back in London.
I always feel like imposing on people somehow by tagging them in things, so don’t feel like you have to do this, I do tag you @heyholmesletsgo @hils79 @galadriel1010 and anyone else who wants to do it

2022 Writing Reflection
1. Number of stories posted to AO3: 18 (holy shit???)
2. Word count posted for the year: 107,382 (double holy shit?????)
3. Fandoms I wrote for: One Direction, Critical Role, Tamora Pierce, The Old Guard, Percy Jackson
4. Pairings: Larry, BeauJester, Immortal Husbands, Shiall, Solangelo
5. Story with the most…
Kudos: I Can Build Your Heart A Home
Bookmarks: I Can Build Your Heart A Home
Comments: Hash Brown, Egg Yolk, I Will Always Love You
Hits: Your Skin On Mine (I'm Losing Control)
6. Work I’m most proud of (and why):
So I have two fics I want to shout out for this. First is Do You Think The Tides Know, which is a super personal concept to me and one I’ve been wanting to explore for a while. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever written before, and I’m not sure if I’ve ever read anything quite like it -- where from the beginning it’s clear that the main character won’t get the guy, where the endgame pairing doesn’t involve our POV character, where no matter what we’re rooting for we know it involves heartbreak. It’s complicated and it’s messy and it’s imperfect and it’s painful and I think that’s important, you know? That’s real. That’s life. And that’s okay.
I’m also really proud of my Reverse Bang fic, they say looks can kill (and i might try), which just posted this week. I’ve always been intimidated by worldbuilding, but the art and prompt from @haztobegood were just... so vivid and interesting and exciting, and I could feel the world begging to be explored. I was initially afraid I wouldn’t be able to do it justice and realize the ideas the way I wanted, but I’m so glad I did it anyways. I don’t think I did a perfect job, there are still gaps that I’m aware of as the person who created them, but I also think that overall I did a damn good job! Go me!
7. Work I’m least proud of (and why):
I’m also going to mention two here. First is my Emelan fic for Troped: Chapters -- I had some fun with the concepts but I just wasn’t feeling the romance that was the center of the prompts, and I wasn’t sure how to make everything play out effectively. Second is my Camp Half-Blood AU for Astrofest -- I had a much bigger, grander, more complex idea mapped out based on all the different positive and negative meanings of the card, but I just bit off more than I could chew in terms of time and energy, so the fic I wrote instead was a much simpler spur-of-the-moment idea. It’s a fine story, I don’t dislike it, but it wasn’t what I’d wanted to write initially. Still, I’m glad it nudged me to start exploring that ‘verse -- I wrote a PJO fic a month or two later and I’d like to write more! I might also revisit the more complex idea someday, I still think that it would be a super cool story!
8. Share or describe a favorite review you received:
I received a ton of wonderful comments and tags, but I think some of my favourites were the appreciation for the check ins and conversations around kink in fics like it's always me that ends up getting wet. We love boundaries and consent!!! Having that level of trust with your partner is what most interests me about kink, so it felt really validating and rewarding to see that reflected and appreciated.
9. A time when writing was really, really hard:
Looking at my writing tracker, I only wrote like... 800 words in March, so I guess numerically you could say that was hard, since I didn’t do it.
In the other direction, in August and September I published TEN fics (totaling about 46k words), so that was. a lot of writing. why did I do this. I’m so proud but also kind of concerned.
10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
Is it too unspecific to say “all of the smut”? Like wow, usually I don’t really write smut, but this year I was apparently VERY INSPIRED. And I kept writing such huge word counts in one go, wow.
11. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
Oh man, it’s always hard to pick just one piece (especially without it getting ridiculously long), but let’s go with this snippet from Do You Think The Tides Know, as Zayn says goodbye to Louis at the end of the summer:
Zayn pulls Louis into a tight hug, trying to memorize the feeling of his body, the sound of his heartbeat, the smell of his hair.
“Don’t be a stranger, yeah?” he says, trying to keep the catch in his throat from showing in his voice. “I know we don’t usually talk that much outside the summer, but… you have my number, if you ever, like, have questions or just… if you ever need anything. Call me.”
Louis chuckles. “I know,” he says. “You’ve always got my back. Thanks, man. You’re a great friend.”
Zayn squeezes his eyes shut for a moment, then forces them back open. “Good,” he says, stepping back. “And… good luck.”
A bright smile dawns across Louis’ face. Zayn wishes it was for him, wishes he could make Louis look like that. But failing that, he hopes that the person who does make Louis smile like that – he hopes he never stops.
12. How did you grow as a writer this year:
This is kind of unspecific, but I think just... being more willing to try things that are unfamiliar and step outside of my usual comfort zone. That willingness feels like growth, and doing that creates growth.
13. How do you hope to grow next year:
Part of me wants to say writing self-motivated fics, stories I tell just because I want to and without outside boxes I have to fit into or people holding me accountable. But maybe the real growth would be acknowledging that those outside influences and motivations are valid, and if they work for me, that’s not such a bad thing.
14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
gotta be @alwaysxlarrie. I can always count on lauren to hype me up or help me brainstorm or get my creative gears turning or tell me if a sentence or moodboard looks weird or celebrate my accomplishments. and I love returning the favor! mutual brain furbies for life -- you the best!
15. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:
The “weird holiday traditions” in The Streetlights Are All Saying Your Name are both real traditions that my family had when I was growing up
I work in a pet store, and so for All Ewe Need Is Lamb, I used information and products and even photos from my work
As I mentioned before, Do You Think The Tides Know is based on a really personal experience -- it’s not like 100% true to life, but the idea of dating someone while in love with someone else, and knowing that the relationship had an end date, but celebrating the happiness and fun and learning in the meantime -- that was real to me, and super meaningful. So grateful for everyone else who has connected to the fic as well!
And this is kind of the inverse and a slightly more spicy one, so look away if you don’t want to know, but. Writing for the @1dwatersportsficfest ultimately led to me telling my fiancée that I was into that. So. I guess that’s my writing showing up in my real life!
16. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
If you’re afraid of doing something because it feels out of your comfort zone or what you’re used to doing -- that’s where the growth is. Find people who encourage you to do it anyways, who make you feel excited to go there, who celebrate your achievements. It’s so much less scary with friends, and you’ll probably surprise yourself with how much you’re capable of.
17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
With the publication of my fic for the 1D Reverse Bang this week, I am officially finished all my current projects! Which isn’t to say I don’t have forgotten half-finished projects, but I don’t have anything I’m actively working on at the moment. It’s exciting and terrifying at the same time. What will I daydream about on the bus now???
I’m feeling called back to my Soft Established Relationship Vax’ilmore Fluff Series, so might write a couple of those next (then again, I said I’d do that last year, and that lasted about 8 days so. we’ll see). I’m also eyeing up some of the fests for this coming year (I need external motivation, it’s a problem) and @1dtourdeficfest @faithinthefutureficfest @1dastroficfest are all on my list of contenders.
18. Tag some writers whose answers you’d like to read:
I’m not sure who all has already done this so apologies if I’m tagging someone who has already done it (or already been tagged a billion times), but: @alwaysxlarrie @haztobegood @zanniscaramouche @andfollowthesun @larry-hiatus @panye @littleroverlouis @beckydoesthings @finelinegynandromorph @paranormalbabydoll @thebreadvansstuff

2022 WRITING EVALUATION
i started answering these questions because hazel @allsassnoclass tagged me, but i took forever so now i’ve also been tagged by amanda @lifewasradical and taylor @jbhmalumm too lmaoo thank you guys <3
i’m gonna do as you suggested, hazel, and include my non 5sos fics here too instead of doing this again in my 911 blog @buckleyseddie it’s easier this way!
1. number of stories posted on ao3: 13 (9 5sos fics, 1 stranger things fic, 3 911 fics)
2. word count posted for this year: 73,269 for 5sos, 36,154 for 911 and 9,223 for stranger things, so a total of 118,646!
3. fandoms i wrote for: 5sos, stranger things, 911
4. pairings: i have malum (2), mashton (1) lashton (1), cashton (2), muke (1), ot4 (1) and my favorite luke/suffering (1) lmao, steve/eddie from stranger things (1) and buddie (3)
5. story with the most kudos/bookmarks/comments: overall it's the first buddie fic I posted, but for the 5sos fics bookmarks and kudos is Off-stage, comment threads is fueling the fire until we combust
6. work i’m most proud of (and why): i think it’s if i could say the things i want to say (i’d find a way to make you stay), my muke fic for the 5sos fic exchange at the beginning of the year, it was my first long fic and i was very happy about how it came out, there were many times when i didn’t think i would be able to finish it, also it was my first muke fic and i was nervous about getting the dynamic right and there was a deadline so. lots of pressure!! being able to finish it (and getting very nice comments and feedback on it) was very important for me
7. work i’m least proud of (and why): i think i’m actually proud of all of them because this year writing was a Struggle so being able to post every single one of these fics feels like something to be proud of!
8. share or describe a favorite review you received: i can’t think of one in particular right now but anyone who has ever complimented my characterization or said that i got a ship/friendship dynamic right please know that i love you! this year i wrote quite a few fics for ships i’ve never done before and it made me very nervous whether or not i did it right so any comments like those made my day for sure
also i think the comments on mating call might be some of my favorite comments ever because, let’s face it, that fic is ridiculous svdfdf and people still read it and they left the nicest comments calling it funny and calling me funny and it was very nice to see people enjoying it, especially considering it was the most fun i had while writing a fic i think EVER
9. a time when writing was really, really hard: can i say the entire year??? there were maybe 2 or 3 fics that i posted this year that didn’t give me a hard time, but the rest of the year i was Struggling either because i had no time or no motivation or writing simply wasn't happening. i’m actually impressed that i posted 13 fics because at times it felt like i wasn’t getting any writing done this year
10. a scene or character you wrote that surprised you: well i definitely didn’t expect to end up writing for 911 or stranger things, so that was a surprise! i also didn’t expect to write lashton again! and i didn’t expect to write a luke/suffering fic! all of them were fun surprises though
11. a favorite excerpt of your writing: i thought about this for a while and then i had to skim through my fics because i couldn’t remember what i wrote oops but i really like this excerpt from i wanna hold your hand while we’re growing up so let’s go with this one
Michael focuses on their hands.
The contrast between their skin, Calum’s chipped black nail polish, Michael’s finger tattoos, the difference in their size.
It wasn’t always like this. Calum’s hand used to be smaller, Michael’s fingers used to be less calloused, but it’s still familiar, after years of doing this.
And maybe it’s the fact that Calum looks tiny like this, hurt and scared, but his hand feels smaller in Michael’s hold, like it did the first time he held it. Back then, Calum also needed reassurance and a friend, and Michael was there for him, the same way he is now. Just like he didn’t let go of Calum’s hand then, during the entire field trip, he doesn’t let go of it now; holding tight to it while he talks to his mother, while they wait for the doctor, while she explains to Calum that it’s going to be a long road towards recovery and he’s going to need his friends.
Michael squeezes his hand to make sure Calum knows he’s here. Michael will always be here.
12. how did you grow as a writer this year? well apparently i wrote 45k more than i did in 2021? which feels so fake because like i said i felt like i didn't post as much and i felt like i struggled a lot. also i wrote 4 fics over 9k which was my highest word count for a fic in 2021
more importantly i also learned (or at least i’m still trying to learn) that sometimes you just can’t force writing. i have to admit i’ve missed writing 5sos lately but i’ve stopped trying to force myself to do it because it takes away all the fun and i don’t want that. i’m hoping that the motivation to write for this fandom will come back, but i’m trying to write what i want to write and right now that’s not 5sos and that’s okay
13. how do you hope to grow next year? i just really want to enjoy writing again and like, let go of the pressure because it doesn’t make the process enjoyable at all. even if i’m proud of what i accomplished this year i spent so much time stressing!! and life is already stressful, i want writing to be fun!!
14. who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc)? oh there’s quite a few! i think i owe most of the fics i posted this year to my friends??? like, maya @calumsash was so supportive while writing my muke fic, she gave me great ideas, listened to me complain and hyped me up so much when i would send her snippets (which she always does <3), her and jess @daydadahlias never fail to hype up my cashton fics or ideas!! talking with amanda was what made me write a lashton fic again!! and she gave me ideas/feedback on one of my malum fics too!! then there’s taylor of course who’s always down to talk about ideas that may or may not turn into fics and i’m not only lucky to be able to talk about 5sos fics with them but they also encouraged me to write my stranger things fic and had very nice things to say about it and then i managed to get them into 911 (maya too!) and now i get to talk to them about fic ideas for buddie too
15. anything from your real life show up in your writing this year? hm i don’t think so? all i can think about is the fact that calum loves chocolate milkshakes in one of my fics and michael doesn’t get why (which is based on me and taylor having that same argument once lmao)
16. any new wisdom you can share with other writers? write what you want but also accept that sometimes a fic idea doesn’t have to become a fic, sometimes it’s just fun to talk about it or daydream about it or make a moodboard for it! it’s not exactly writing wisdom but it makes having fun a little easier!! less pressure!!
17. any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year? i have two long cashton fics that i really want to finish but like i said the motivation to write for the boys hasn’t been there, but hopefully at some point. i have quite a lot written for both so maybe i can make it happen. one is a fake relationship au and i’ve always wanted to write that trope so i really really want to finish that one!! and the other one is the one that me and maya affectionately refer to as the storm au, i’ve sent her so many snippets and there’s so much that i love about what i have written and that i really want to share!! also i have a few ideas for buddie that i think have a higher chance of happening in the near future because i’m so obsessed with them right now lol there’s one that i want to post before they come back from hiatus so i’m hoping to focus on that one for now!! we’ll see!!
18. tag some writers whose answers you’d like to read: pretty sure everyone has been tagged already, but if you haven’t and you want to do it, then i’m tagging you <3

4, 6 and 12 😊
4: are you likely to blush when a sex scene comes up or can you read/watch it with a straight face?
Hahahahah I reckon you could possibly predict the answer to this! I wish I could say no, but the answer is of course yes 🙈 I always blush - it’s worst when other people are also in the room watching the TV, but I’m fully capable of blushing even if no one is there to witness it 😳 and re reading it, well, this is probably a large part of the reason why I don’t (usually 😇) read smut 😂
6: do you read fan fiction? If so, do you have any favourite authors or fics?
Fan fiction? No, never heard of her! 😇 I’ve actually been slacking so much at reading any fic recently! I’m sure there are more people i should be name dropping but for now I’ll just cite you and @train-pirate as my fave authors ✍🏻
My fave fic of yours is probably this one, because a) you kindly wrote it for my bday and b) it features my faves 👸🏻🕵🏼
And then my fave one that TP has written has to be this because it’s ridiculous and cute ✨
12: if you could change one ending to a book/show/game/etc, what would you change about it?
I *just* answered this one with Torchwood, but I’m going to be pessimistic (because ill) and preemptively say Snowpiercer 🙈 given how many original bits of story were tied up (or seemingly completely abandoned) by the end of season 3, I’m guessing season 4 will introduce quite a few new plot points that will inevitably get unsatisfactory endings. I also don’t trust the writers to sort my gal out at all 🙈💔👸🏻 fearing death or at least a lot more misery for Audrey 🙈
And I would change all of this by having us write it all instead 😇
Thank you for asking!! 🖤

4, 8, 11, 15 and 18 for AO3 wrapped!!
4.) What work of yours has the most hits?
The Man in the Lightning has gotten the most kudos of my fics this year, with 126 kudos. It's sequel, Closer and Closer Still, has almost as many at 121 kudos. I really didn't expect quite that much attention on either one, so I am a bit surprised.
Though my 'all time' highest kudos is currently on Seen in Evidence, written in 2020, with over 600 kudos. The Olivarry shippers seem to have enjoyed it a lot. I know last year the all time fav was still Poking the Poodle (And Other Ridiculous TvTropes), so Seen in Evidence must have gotten a lot of kudos this year.
8.) Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
I wrote 6 Cisco/Hartley ships which makes it the pairing I wrote the most for this year. It's closely followed by Cisco/Harry at 5 fics.
11.) What work took you the longest to write?
Well the latest chapter of The Curious Case of Harrison Wells was partially done for at least 2 years before I finally finished it this year. Though I don't know that it counts since the fic itself is still unfinished and, uh, I haven't started on the next chapter yet.
For a finished fic, probably Welcome to 2015 which I think was a WiP for at least a few months before I completed it.
15.) What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
A lot. Um... so just a few:
I had a WiP for Xander/Larry for BtVS but I forgot to save it and a post update forced reboot seems to have eaten it since libreoffice only retrieved a blank document (which is unusual, normally it's retrievals of unsaved docs go really well). So... I'm either gonna re-write it or wind up with something completely different. I'm a bit miffed about it, tbh, because I could have sworn I had saved it. But it is nowhere to be found. So I must not have. *sigh*
The Man in the Lightning series is gonna have a few more fics for it, taking it through parts of S1. Next up is Barry telling Iris that he's the Flash, Iris realizing Barry isn't joking about dating a time traveler with fuzzy morals, and Eobard learns that Iris does not need super powers to be intimidating when she gives him her version of a shovel speech.
Season 2 AU where Zoom kills Harry after taking Velocity for the first time, not realizing he'd need someone to fix the problems with it later. So it's E2 Jerrie Rathaway he kidnaps instead of Jesse, in order to manipulate Harry's successor at STAR Labs - E2 Hartley - into doing his bidding. Thus it's E2 Hartley, not Harry, who comes through to E1 looking for help to stop Zoom. - I feel bad killing off Harry, but the fic doesn't really work if I don't. Jesse will still wind up involved later on, though.
I think the time to rewatch Fringe has come, which I'm hoping will finally get me over the block I have on my Fringe x Flash fic, starting with Astrid pulling together her own Fringe investigation team to look into meta humans. I have lots of ideas for an alt Season 1 and Season 2 (for the Flash) for this series including Ronnie surviving the singularity. Don't want to give away how, though, since that's a long ways off. ;) I intend for William Bell to pop up as one of the recurring villains of the series, who sees metas as interesting test subjects. He may or may not team up with Eobard at some point, but that depends on where I take the S1 plot.
18.) The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
Hmmm... I think maybe Iris? She's always a bit of a difficult character for me and I worry about getting her voice right a lot. Sometimes things will just click and I can churn out a fic for her in no time, but sometimes it's just a struggle to find the right words for her.

Don't you just hate when your fic is essentially done, but you can't figure out how to conclude it? Last sentences are so hard

annual writing self-evaluation
All answers should be about works published in 2021.
once again i’m posting this bc i wanna not because i was tagged lol
i. Optional if applicable: link to last year’s self-evaluation
1. List of works published this year (in the order that they were posted)
since that list is stupid long here’s a link to my 2021 fic roundup instead.
2. Work you are most proud of (and why):
i’m definitely super proud of Keep Me Up All Night because it was a BEAST and for a while, i wasn’t sure i’d finish it at all. but i did! i’m also very, very proud of the Bobby/Luke fics in the fanboy universe: A Mouth That I Would Kill To Kiss and Stubborn, Selfish, Easily Jealous. both of them were very cathartic to write and it gave me such an incredible chance to explore some darker themes and really dig deep into emotions, and i just really enjoyed that part of the writing process.
3. Work you are least proud of (and why):
honestly idk but what came to mind was Jealousy, Jealousy because i think it’s the most ridiculous thing i wrote this year and it was kind of done on a whim and not planned super well. i might be alone in this but i think it’s the most ooc fic i’ve written for Luke and Reggie so that kind of bothers me as well but i posted it anyway lmfao
4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
this is a line from the onlyfans au that @romantiquesnouvelles commented on when she was beta reading it for me and tbh i think about it a lot.
He keeps his mouth so close to Reggie's neck that Reggie feels every word he says as if Luke's etching it into his skin.
5. Share or describe a favorite comment you received:
Tumblr media
this comment single-handedly kept me from deleting A Mouth That I Would Kill To Kiss. i’ll never forget it @where-you-go 💛💛
6. A time when writing was really, really hard:
right after that stupid fucking blacklist came out. i almost gave up then, but i’m glad i didn’t. y’all are stuck with me, better deal with it ✌🏻
7. A scene or character that you wrote that surprised you:
it feels like a million years ago now but when i first started writing Can I Call You Mine? it was meant to be endgame Luke/Reggie. but as i kept writing, i realized that i loved Caleb too much to not have Reggie end up with him 🥺 i definitely didn’t see that coming.
8. How did you grow as a writer this year:
i uhh think my word count speaks for itself 😇 also just like, genuinely not giving a fuck what anyone else thinks and writing exactly what i wanted to write.
9. How do you hope to grow next year:
branching out! writing different genres! we’ll see what happens.
10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
genuinely, everyone who complimented my writing this year. especially after the blacklist backlash bullshit. i really needed to hear that people enjoy what i write, regardless of the rating. thank you 💛
11. Anything in your real life show up in your writing this year:
addiction and grief. it’s hard, but it’s worth it to push through.
12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
don’t compare yourself to other writers. especially not me. i’ve heard a lot this year about how people wish they could write as much as i do, but you have to understand that this isn’t normal. i have a ridiculous amount of time to write that few other people do. just do your best because that’s all anyone can ask of you.
13. Any new projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
WELL my wip folder is officially empty which is wild! i finished all of the wips i was working on this year, which means starting tomorrow i get to dive into my “eventually” folder and start tossing out new ideas (of which there are many, as you all already know.)
14. Tag three writers/artists whose answers you’d like to read:
i’m tagging all of my fandom friends. if you see this and you want to do it, then consider yourself tagged 💛

20 Questions: Writer’s Edition
Thanks for the tag : @justeweli
How many works do you have on AO3?
I have an old AO3 account from my teens with probably 30+ fics, and an even older FF.net account with probably 70+, but just 2 so far on my current AO3. I’ve only just gotten back into the game this past year.
What’s your total AO3 word count?
For just my active AO3, 4526 LMAO. I am not a longfic person.
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
I think... 6? I'm definitely forgetting some (I’ve been writing fanfic since I was 11 man), but approximately in order, it goes: Harry Potter, Glee, White Collar, Supernatural, Black Sails, and Lost in Space.
What are your top five fics by kudos?
Again I only have 2 published atm lol, but Something Beyond has more kudos than Someday, You Will.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! After publishing my first comeback fic I did get in my head about whether I “should” be replying to comments and whether my replies were repetitive and annoying, but by the time I published my second I was like fuck that.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I think I definitely wrote Major Character Death fic in my teens, but currently Someday, You Will has the least hopeful ending, for sure. It’s more melancholy than outright angsty though, I would say.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
My Lost in Space WIP will definitely have the happiest ending of my current fics. I’m not sure what my happiest would’ve been in the old days.
Do you write crossovers? If yes, what’s the craziest thing you’ve written?
Crossovers were my specialty in the roleplaying community so if that counts, there have been some real ridiculous ones LMAO. Characters from Glee and The Magicians put into the world of Gossip Girl might be my most out there one dkfjdkjg. In terms of fic though, I would need to check my old AO3 to remember the crossovers I wrote and I simply am not brave enough for that.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I had a few thousand followers at the height of tumblr fandom (like 2009-2012) which at the time was enough to enter “gets hate for breathing” territory, so I’m sure I did but I don’t remember specifics.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do :) Mostly polyam, mostly kinky, always queer. Any gender combo. I don’t have any published on my current AO3 atm but I have one fic that will have M/M, M/F, and M/M/F smut in it, and another that’s also M/M/F, in progress. And I’m doing F/F smut with Tim for the zine :)
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of, but maybe.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
One! I can’t remember if it was Harry Potter or Glee, but someone very kindly asked to translate it, I think into Russian? God my memory is bad.
Have you ever co-written a fic?
Not a fic but I roleplayed for years, which is basically co-writing. I have 2 Discord servers in particular that are essentially just me writing plot after plot after plot with my friends. And like I said, I’ll be co-writing with Tim soon (awooga).
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I’ve always been an avid multishipper so it’s hard to choose just one. Wolfstar is my longest enduring ship so I’ll say that.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
My introspective Flint WIP.... :( It’s just so long and I’m so bad at longfic.
What’s your writing strengths?
Character voice, I think, and setting the narrative tone? I’m good at shifting the way I narrate the prose depending on the POV character. Like Madi from Black Sails and Don from Lost in Space require very different narration styles lmfao.
What’s your writing weaknesses?
The physical act of writing dkfjgdkgjd and also length.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?
For me personally, as long as it’s not too much and you provide the translation in the notes (and you actually know the language instead of just Google Translating it lmao), it’s fine.
But also if you want to write a fic specifically for fellow bilinguals to enjoy, that’s cool. I’m not the target demographic so my opinion is irrelevant.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
In adulthood, my favourite is probably my Lost in Space WIP. I think it’s really fun and I’m excited to finish it, hopefully before S3 comes out if I have the energy.
From my teens, I wrote a few fics creating logic and character depth out of some of Glee’s antics and that was always fun and well-received.
Tagging :  @dykebonny @queer-crusader @jaynovz @thegreatblondebalrogslayer ... I can’t remember who else writes fic but if you do, pls steal this from me.

Writer Tag Game
@anghraine was kind enough to tag me for this.
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 110. they're not all fic, though.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 386,718. again, it's not all fic, so let's call it an even 385K for the fic portion.
3. What are you top 5 fics by kudos?
A Wild and Distant Shore Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth/Darcy
Hearing Light Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth/Darcy
to suppose the truth of it possible Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth/Darcy
Drowning in the Absolute Yes Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth/Darcy
if you came this way Star Trek: Voyager, Janeway/Chakotay
4. Do you respond to comments; why or why not? for the sake of my mental health, i would prefer not to answer at this time. (i’m not being sarcastic. this is actually very difficult for me to talk about.)
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? probably Periapsis. Callisto’s just been raped by Zeus. we all know what happens next.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? i really don't know how to answer this. most of my fics have, at the very least, hopeful endings, and i think a lot depends on the context. for example, Elizabeth and Darcy are happy in both A Wild and Distant Shore and Hearing Light, but one is the happiness of a newly married couple still learning the joys of sexual intimacy with each other, whereas the other is the happiness of a newly engaged couple still in the first tremulous throes of requited love and attraction. how do you quantify which state is happier? to use a different sort of example, Harvest ends happily for Griet because she’s achieved a kind of freedom she never imagined, but i don't know how to compare that to, say, Mulder’s happiness at still being with Scully after so many years in and the world keeps beginning. there are different kinds of happiness is what i'm saying, and i don’t know how to judge the relative values.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest most absurd one you’ve ever written? how about we don’t use the word ‘crazy’ here? i’ve written a few crossovers, though i'm not a big fan of them. (as opposed to fusions, which i absolutely adore.) for most absurd, considering that Pride and Prejudice and Star Trek: The Next Generation are two of the unlikeliest canons to combine, Lydia, still has been a surprisingly well-received fic.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? if i have, it wasn't particularly memorable. i suppose it depends on how one defines 'hate' in this context. i know i've had comments from people who have not been happy with some aspect of a fic, or with me generally, but nothing i'd actually term hate. (truthfully? i'm kind of disappointed.)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? there are kinds? i wasn't aware of this and i don't know what the categories are. amusing fact (at least to me): my most popular fic by kudos happens to be the first piece of smut i ever wrote. since then i've written a lot more, for a variety of f/f and f/m pairings, including various kinks, dub-con, non-con, and even alpha/omega (heavens to betsy!); however, my writing preference is people who love each other (even if they don't know/won't admit it), and those pairings make up the bulk of my smut fic.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? just the once, to my knowledge, and it was an extremely disappointing experience. a few years ago if you came this way was repackaged into a fic called Hired for Love by someone named cress26. and when i say it was disappointing, i mean... like, okay, i know i'm a solid writer. (that sentence notwithstanding.) obviously i'm no anne carson or a.s. byatt, but i'd give myself a solid B average for overall quality. so i guess i figured that if someone was going to steal my stuff, it would be because of that. but, no. instead of merely suffering the insult of being plagiarised, i was forced to also suffer the much, much worse indignity of having a story that is absolutely freakin' beautiful in places -- and i do say so myself -- taken apart and put back together like frankenstein's monster. seriously, even now, i am still so much more offended by how dreadful they made the fic than by the actual plagiarism. a copy and paste job i could understand! that fic is good, damn it! that is some A-grade shit right there. but how can anyone have so little respect for writing, or for language, just in general that they’d take something and then ruin it to claim it as theirs? ugh, it’s so dreadful.
...wanna see? ;D most of it is still available on the wayback machine.
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? i feel like maybe someone did once ask me if they could? but i have no confidence that that actually happened, so i don’t know. anyway, i’ve got a blanket permission statement in my profile, so it’s possible that someone has translated something and i’m just not aware of it. or i was aware and i forgot. these are all possibilities. i’m a very unreliable narrator.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? no. it's something i've long been interested in trying, and there have been a couple of people i've wanted to try it with, but i can only imagine i'd be a nightmare for someone else to work with, so i've never broached the topic.
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship? once upon a time i would've said Mulder/Scully but i'm sad to admit that's no longer the case. while Elizabeth/Darcy is now my most enduring ship, i really can't say it's my all-time favourite (though it's in the top 5, certainly). i think, at this point, given the word count devoted to them, and the number of hours i've spent thinking, writing, and making gifs of them, it's going to have to be Walt/Vic. our relationship is only six years old, but those six years represent an output that exceeds all the years of all my other ships combined.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? yeah, see, there's a reason why i don't post real WIPs. (with one current exception that i’m still actively working on). actually there are more than a hundred reasons, scattered across a variety of documents on my hard drive. i doubt i'll finish any of them, but this way no one’s disappointed except me, and i was disappointed to begin with.
15. What are your writing strengths? i'm able to compose grammatically correct sentences and i actually know what words mean. oh, sorry, was that overly sardonic? let me try again. sex and feelings. those are my strengths. i’m good at writing sex and i’m good at writing feelings and when you put those two things together you have most of my fic.
16. What are your writing weaknesses? getting bogged down in details or overly convoluted metaphors, anything resembling plot, actually writing things. (see above re: over a hundred WIPs.)
17. What are you thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? i'm pretty sure i've never had any thoughts on the topic. nobody told me there was a prerequisite for this meme!
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for? The X Files. the year was 2006 and i was 29. that's right, kids. i was late to the fandom party. also i am middle agéd. run away! run away!
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written? i don't have one. i feel affectionately towards some for different reasons; there are some i don't like at all; a few i'm particularly proud of, whether or not i actually like them. basically, my feelings about my own writing are very complicated. i will say that i think Darlin', everything's on fire is one of the best things i've ever written. even there some bits make me wince when i read it, though. (and now the song is stuck in my head again. damn it.)
▪︎
i will tag @sarking, @sqbr, @wendelah, and @ziparumpazoo if they feel like it, because they’re the only ones i can think of right now, but any other fic writers who want to participate, please consider yourself tagged. below you’ll find the list of questions (with my edit) for your convenience:
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 3. What are you top 5 fics by kudos? 4. Do you respond to comments; why or why not? 5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? 6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? 7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest most ridiculous one you’ve ever written? 8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? 9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? 10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? 11. Have you ever had a fic translated? 12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? 13. What’s your all-time favourite ship? 14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? 15. What are your writing strengths? 16. What are your writing weaknesses? 17. What are you thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? 18. What was the first fandom you wrote for? 19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

Fic Writer Asks
tagged by the lovely @vampcoffeegyrl23 I am soooo sorry this has taken over a week! I promise I was just busy away from my computer and using mobile is not the way to go about answering these! 😅
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
6 on AO3 and 6 on ffn.net. I haven't used the ffn.net account in years, i.e 2013 (and therefore my user name isn't even the same) so those 6 stories are different from my AO3 ones. I don't post most of what I write and now that I'm in my mid-20s with a few published papers behind me - I'm much more confident in my ability to write a cohesive and interesting story so expect more posted!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
17,425 words which isn't bad for only 6 fics with two of those stories having additional chapters coming soon.
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
On AO3? Just 1, which is The Flash and by extension Stargate SG-1 for the crossover I did for Snowells Week this year. Counting ffn.net that's 3 more with Castle, Doctor Who, and Firefly. Over my lifetime of writing fic for myself? I think only 7 more. Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Sanctuary, Harry Potter, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: TNG, and Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead isn't much of a fanfic but I did use the zombie types as place holders in an original story until I developed my own.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I'll Be Waiting (The Flash - Caitlin/Harry)
Well... This is Awkward (The Flash - Caitlin/Harry, Frost/Nash, Caitlin/Nash, and Frost/Harry)
Rewind Time (The Flash - Caitlin/Harry)
Through the Gate (The Flash/Stargate SG-1 - Caitlin/Eowells)
Harvest Season (The Flash - Caitlin/Harry)
5. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
I don't write angst much and I haven't posted many stories yet but of the ones posted I guess "I'll Be Waiting" is the angstiest.
6. What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
"Well...This is Awkward" has a pretty happy ending with everyone alive and together. Or maybe "Twilight of the Gods" because ReverseSnow/ReverseFrost happens and there is hope of bringing everything lost back and balance the universe again. I guess it depends on your definition of what constitutes as a happy ending. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?
I've only written one - The Flash/Stargate SG-1 crossover. I don't normally think about crossovers just because the shows I watch are so vastly different they can't really work or they are already in the same universe with the canon crossovers. I'm also not always a fan of reading them because they can get chaotic quick and characterization takes a dive in order to fit characters into other universes/situations. I admire anyone who can write it well though!
As a side note: I did have a thought about a Snowells into the Arkham universe fic just because I have been replaying the Batman Arkham video games which I might give a shot at.
8. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
👀I wrote one smutty story years ago and it's terrible because I was young and naïve. I haven't tried recently but I'm not opposed to giving it a shot now. I have a few ideas on a prompt list I have for Snowells already so it's really a matter of when will I get to it!
9. Do you respond to comments. why or why not?
I do when I can! I like to get feedback from my readers and having an open dialogue of what they liked or disliked is important for me! I want to know what my audience enjoyed and what to improve on! Responding to them also shows them I saw that they said and appreciate what they had to say! 🥰
10. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Surprisingly - no, even on my old and terribly written stuff. I'm perfectly open to criticism but hate? If you don't like it, you don't like it but others might. Why spend the time spreading negativity when the world has enough of it?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
As far as I know - no.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but given enough time I could probably translate mine. It would be grammatically atrocious because I rarely translate from English into any of the languages I know. It's normally the other way around! I'd definitely need a Beta who is fluent to correct my mistakes.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No but it's definitely something I'd try! I co-wrote an original story with a few friends of mine years ago in high school and enjoyed it. I like the idea of getting to talk and bounce ideas off of someone who enjoys the same fandoms and character as me! I haven't really done that since I grew apart from one of my friends from high school who I did that with.
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
What kind of question is this? Do people actually have an ultimate ship? Is that even possible? I have ships from several fandoms and sometimes multiple ships within a fandom. Most of the time I have a main ship from a fandom but that doesn't mean I discount any of the other ones that I or others enjoy as well. I'll throw out a few that I still got out and read for in order of what I read most often (either new stuff or re-reads) to what I read occasionally, at least according to my AO3 favorite tags.
Snowells (all variations) - The Flash
Jack O'Neill/Sam Carter - Stargate SG-1
Helen Magnus/Nikola Tesla - Sanctuary
Harry/Hermione - Harry Potter
William Murdoch/Julia Ogden - Murdoch Mysteries
Phil/ Melinda - Agents of SHIELD
Kathryn Janeway/Tom Paris - Star Trek: Voyager
Kate Fleming/Steve Arnott - Line of Duty
I will occasionally go check what kind of fics the fandom writes when I start a show just out of curiosity. Sometimes you can tell if there is fandom hate between ships by doing so and I know to steer clear, especially if I ship a lesser ship/non-canon ship. Also - the number of canon-divergence or rewrites will tell you if the shows writers start being ridiculous *cough* The Flash *cough* and whether it's worth getting attached at all.
15. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
Hoo boy. I have a drive full of them. Most of which aren't even close to being posted. My biggest one right now is a complete re-write of The Flash dealing with a what if scenario of Earth-1 Tess Morgan being pregnant the night that Thawne kills them both and he chooses to birth the kid rather than let it die with her. It's set a few years earlier (so 18/19 years stuck in the past rather than the original 15 that the show has it) so the kid isn't Jesse but it changes how season 1 plays out and definitely how season 2 plays out when Harry finds out about the kid while dealing with the Jesse/Zoom issue. Plus it's Snowells too and I want to deal with Barry's mistakes and the consequences of them better than the show did since the show just kind of brushes them off? For some reason? I wanted things to have a little more consequence because some of the mistakes made are egregious and then they acted like it never happened which bothers me. It's a beast of a project and I'm - unfortunately- a perfectionist and a completionist. I'm thinking an episode per chapter rewrite but right now it's in bits and pieces and a lot of notes on how episodes would play out differently with an added character and dynamic.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and scene positioning. I can write out the dialogue for a story quickly with the bare bones of the scene and movements playing out. After that, it takes me ages to expand the scene and fill in the bits between speaking lines because I can see the piece play out in my head and putting that to paper accurately and engagingly without being overwhelming is a multi-layered process.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Some of this is normal, you know, like grammar and spelling. My brain moves faster than I type so words or bit of phrases end up missing and I later have to fix it. I'm also a Southerner who grew up watching a ton of British shows so a lot of the way I phrase things isn't commonly used anywhere. I have to spend a lot of time double checking things like that. I think my biggest one is not knowing how to end stories satisfactorily. I haven't posted many fics because it's hard to post them when you don't know how to wrap everything up.
18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
It depends on whether it's an established part of a character or story and whether or not I'm comfortable with the language. Like with Sherloque - it's established he'll say something in French and then repeat it in English. I took 3 years of French so I'm comfortable writing it and it fits the character and situation. But take Cisco, we know he speaks Spanish, but it's never really shown in the show. So fics that I've read where he breaks into Spanish can be distracting as we've never seen him do it - even in dire circumstances. I also never took Spanish in school and I only know rudimentary pieces (I took Mandarin and Latin instead), so I'm unlikely to use it in any fic I write unless the circumstances warrant it (say - Cisco is talking to a grandparent or a meta struggling with English).
But again, it depends on the situation, what we know of the character, and how comfortable I am with the language enough to get it correct and in character. Any fic writer who can get the situation and character down while using a secondary language, and not make it distracting deserves applause!
19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Hit me with a hard one why don't you? 🤣 I think it was Stargate SG-1 or maybe it was Stargate Atlantis. You're asking me to think back over a decade and a half ago to when I started reading and writing fic at the tender age of 7 or 8. I'm fairly certain it was one of those two fandoms and it might've been a crossover. I do remember writing part of it on an old Gateway computer running Windows '98 with a glass monitor that was mine and my sisters. The other half was written on an electric type-writer that I owned because this was before laptops were widely available and affordable.
20. What's your favorite fic you've written?
It's a tie between "Twilight of the Gods" and "I'll Be Waiting". "Twilight of the Gods" because I got to show off a few of my degrees (History and Classics, I couldn't shoehorn in my others but they are science related and that doesn't quite fit that story). "I'll Be Waiting" is a favorite because it's a big middle finger to whoever / collective group wrote The Flash season 7. I'm still pissed off at how the Wells plotline was dealt with and let's not get started on the whole Chillblaine/Kramer/Forces as kids of WA plots (ewwwwwww 🤢). I'd need a whole new post to talk about how tired I am of the WA kids showing up (because screw how that'll effect the timeline, right?) and the reliance on the future to drive what decisions are made (because, again, screw how bad that would be for the timeline - it's not like we have seen how much that effects things before right?) 😒
Phew.....That was longer than I expected, honestly, but a lot of fun!
Tagging whoever wants to talk about their works because you are all wonderful people who should get a chance to share!

Global Warming
Tumblr media
Prompt: “You must be the reason for global warming because you’re hot.” “Actually, it’s primarily because of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.”
Warnings: Um, cuteness, I think that's about it lol
Dean X Reader, Highschool AU.
Just a cute random fic. Some Nervous Dean because it's nice to see him out of his element once in a while xD
Tumblr media
Dean sat at the library table across from his brother, he was supposed to be studying for his English test but he couldn't help but get distracted. You were sitting a few tables away, concentrated hard on your work, biting your lip once in a while when you wrote something down.
He'd been crushing on you ever since they stopped in this town a few months ago and he'd seen you that first week in the halls. Your locker wasn't far from his and you definitely weren't the type he normally went for but he couldn't help himself, you were gorgeous, smart, and way out of his league.
Despite his brothers faith in him, Dean really didn't consider himself smart, he hardly paid attention in school and he hated sitting in a desk all day, but if you asked him to fix something, he'd have in done in ten minutes flat, Sam had always been the book smart type, Dean considered himself better with his hands. He learned by doing and he felt he wasn't good enough to catch the attention of someone like you.
You were hella smart, maybe even more than his little brother, you were on the honor roll, and Dean didn't know if he'd even be in this town long enough to even pursue something with you, he knew you wouldn't be a fling type of girl, girls like you, they were for guys who could promise a commitment, a future, with all the moving around they did, Dean knew it was a long shot, but he had to at least talk to you, if he could cough up the nerve to try. Why the hell did you make him so nervous? He'd flirted with plenty of women, bedded a lot too, but you seemed to be the only girl that made him second guess his own charm.
“Will you just go talk to her, I can't concentrate on my homework with you gawking at her like a dumbass.” Sam sighs, rolling his eyes. Dean shoots him a look, before whispering out.
“And say what Sammy huh?” He begins to talk in a mock voice. “Oh hey y/n, whatcha reading? Oh physics that sounds so interesting! I know nothing about that subject!” He whisper shouts, rolling his eyes. “She’s out of my league man, and I’ll admit that I don't know what to say to her, I'm not in my element with her, she's too smart for me.” He shrugs and Sam Huff's at his brothers sudden lack of confidence.
“She’s actually pretty cool, she doesn't judge, just go up and say hi, make some conversation, you're good with girls.” Sam shrugs.
“Yeah, girls who are airheads, give em a cheesy pick up line and they're all giggly and squealy. I highly doubt y/n will be that easy.” Dean scratches the back of his neck, he watches as you get up, picking another book of the shelf. You bite down on your pencil before sitting back at your spot, you look around for a second and catch his eye, you give him a soft smile and he turns back to Sam, why the hell is he being so ridiculous.
“Just go, go talk to her. You'll be fine.” Sam gives his brother a shove, nearly pushing him off his chair. Dean clears his throat, standing up and making sure the collar of his shirt looks okay. He makes his way over to you and you don't quite look away from your book.
Before he can stop himself, the stupidity flows through his mouth before he can acknowledge what the fuck he just said. He's such a fucking dumbass.
Tumblr media
Dean Winchester was the hottest guy in your grade, you'd be lying if you didn't think so, every girl in senior grade thought so. He was hot, funny, smarter than he looked and though he wasn't the most studious, you couldn't help admire him from afar. Guys like him didn't pay attention to you.
He'd been sitting with his brother for the last hour and sometimes you could feel him looking over at you. Maybe he needed help with his homework, most of the jocks in school would try to pay you for help, or more so, to do the work for them. You declined Everytime and you weren't about to change that for Dean, no matter how pretty his smile was.
You picked another book off the shelf, trying to find more info for your physics paper, it was due in two weeks and you wanted to be as well read as possible, as you head back to your table you make eye contact with the older Winchester, you smile shyly and he turns so quick you would've thought he snapped his neck. Of course, guys like him don't pay attention to you.
You decide to just ignore it, going back to your paper and before you know what's happening he's standing at your table. You refuse to look up, worried you might turn a bright shade of red that you'd never recover from. You barely notice when he speaks, lost in your own thoughts.
“You must be the reason for global warming because you’re hot.” He speaks, and you look up to see he's slightly unsure of himself. Before you can even realize what you're saying you pipe up.
“Actually, it’s primarily because of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.” You frown, watching as a confused look crosses his face. He had no idea what you just said.
You mentally kicked yourself,  now he was never going to fucking talk to you ever again. Why the fuck did you have to be such a loser all the time. You look back down at your book, embarrassed at the fact you just basically shot down his pick up line. Was he flirting? You never could tell if guys were flirting or trying to get you to do their homework. That's the only time guys this hot spoke to you after all.
He chuckles, biting his lip and it has you blushing deeply. He taps his knuckles softly on the table before speaking again.
“You're not very good at this flirting thing are you?” He asks and you look up at him, putting your pencil behind your ear.
“Oh, is that what you were doing? Sorry. I'm not used to guys flirting with me unless they want their homework done.” You shrug, standing to put one of your books back. He follows, staying a decent amount of distance away, but close enough to make you shiver.
“Really? That's a shame, you're beautiful, you deserve to be flirted with.” He smiles, you meet his eyes and raise an eyebrow. “Do you want something? I kinda have a paper due and I need to focus on my research.” You speak softly.
Dean clears his throat nervously but speaks up, finally getting the right words out. “I uh, I was wondering if you were busy this weekend? There's some movies playing at the drive in, I thought I could take you to one.” He half shrugs and you see he's slightly nervous. Why would Dean Winchester be nervous.
“That’s where all the jocks and cheerleaders go to have sex.” You raise an eyebrow and Dean blushes, he's actually blushing.
“I can promise you there will be no sex, I just want to take you out, you know, on a, a date.” He huffs out a breathy chuckle. “I mean, unless you want to have sex, which is fine too, but if not that's cool, we can go to an arcade instead, do you like games...i’m pretty good at pool, and um air hockey or we can go bowling if you prefer, totally your choice..” He rambles and your eyes go wide.
“Oh my God Winchester shut up! Are you always this chatty?” You ask, amused at the fact this hot guy is a complete nervous wreck. He stops, swallows and then smiles.
“Sorry, you kinda um, you make me nervous.” He shrugs, no shame admitting it. You frown, “Me? Why? You're Dean Winchester, you can have any girl you want, infact, I'm pretty sure you can have any girl in our senior glass easily.” You laugh, tucking your hair behind you ear.
He shrugs, smiling sweetly at you, “I don't want easy, I like you, and you're way out of my league and it makes me nervous, but I like you, and I want to take you on a date.” He stands there, hands tucked into his pockets.
“You really think I'm out of your league? I mean, if anything I'm the one who's nowhere near your league, you could do so much better.” You shrug, not believing he thinks your out of his league, that's funny.
He shakes his head, frowning, “No, I can't. You're smart, pretty, kind, and those are good qualities, not every girl can offer all those at once, I like that you're more than just some airhead cheerleader, I like a girl who can offer good conversation.” He smiles and you smirk at him.
“There’a a good chance if you take me out, I'll talk your ear off, and I'm not promising to have sex with you.” You raise and eyebrow and he smiles widely.
“I’m not expecting you to. If you want to talk, talk, I'll happily listen to anything you say.” He nibbles on his own lip, a slight red tint to his cheeks.
You let out a huff of breath, “Alright Winchester, Drive in sounds good, I’m free tomorrow after 5 pm.” You look up from your book, looking at him from under your lashes.
He smiles, nodding and running a hand over his face. “Okay, yeah, yes, that works, I can work with that, I'll uh, I'll pick you up around 6, we can get some burgers first.” He nods, smiling when you give him a nod, letting him know you agree.
You watch as he says he'll see you tomorrow and walks back to his table where his little brother still sits, you chuckle when he suddenly forgets you're still there and high gives his brother. The younger boy rolling his eyes and his brothers excitement.
You and a date with Dean Winchester, and you had no idea what the hell to wear.

Well now I'm curious. Are there any crocodile shifters in this story? Is that the Alpha Pack? And does that make Jennifer a sea witch? I'm invested and I want to know more!
Also, random questions about your Beacon Bay story: is this on an island or a peninsula or something? Is the Nemeton a lighthouse or something similar, really leaning into that whole beacon metaphor? Is there a star-crossed lovers thing going on here at all (*cough*scanny*cough*)?
Sadly, no crocodile shifters in the actual story, though it was more written as a series of shorter episodic stories that I bounced around between. And the crocodile shifters are just sitting there ripe for the picking, its just I didn’t have need of any in the story and/or characters they matched up well with. The Alpha Pack isn’t really a thing here, mostly because I was like “I am Deucalion, the Demon Dolphin” doesn’t really have quite the right ring to it and also he’s just honestly not my favorite villain, he’s too ridiculous. Its like calm down dude, who do you think you are, Death, the Destroyer of Worlds? Oh wait. Awkward.
But now that I think about it, I hardly ever got the urge to use Deucalion as an antagonist? Just running through my WIP files real quick, and off the top of my head, my villain breakdown in TW fics was:
Lightning Crashes: the nogitsune, Jennifer, Kali and Theo
Where Wild Things Are: Peter, Matt and Gerard
Beacon Bay: Corrine, Peter and Theo
Loki’s Get:
Ouroboros Dreaming (Jackson’s Story): Peter’s ghost, metaphorically
Fenris Waking (Scott’s Story): Peter’s ghost, less metaphorically
Hel Rising (Lydia’s Story): Peter’s ghost, least metaphorically. Also, Hell. But mostly just the suburbs of it.
Born to Run: Jennifer. (That random The Most Dangerous Game rip-off with Scott and Jackson. Making the bad guys hunters was like, eh, so I went with necromancy instead).
The Forest or the Trees: the Nemeton. Like, the tree itself. Also, demon fruit. Look, its that AU where Scott’s a druid and Danny’s a werewolf, the tree wants to kill Scott, its a whole thing.
So, My Step-Brother’s Probably A Werewolf: The deadpool. Basically a S4 AU where Dr. Geyer and Melissa have a whirlwind romance and Liam’s trying to figure out why the fuck his new step-brother is so weird.
Forgetting’s Just Another Way of Saying Fuck You: Theo and the Dread Doctors. This one was that one S5 AU I was writing where the Dread Doctors used their forgetting/mind-wipe powers to make everyone forget about Scott, except they ironically forgot about people outside the town, meaning Isaac, Jackson and assorted others still remembered him. Aka that expansive headcanon that was literally the exact same thing as Season 6′s ‘forgetting Stiles’ plot, only posted about a full year before S6 even started shooting BUT I DIGRESS. (I’m just saying, it was a pretty specific plot, only using the DD instead of the Ghost Riders, but whaaaaatever). LOL.
So the only times I’ve ever really used Deucalion beyond peripheral werewolf politics in Where Wild Things Are is in that one Scydia I was writing, Kingmaker, and also an unwieldy behemoth that somehow got to six chapters without a title, where like, when the Alpha Pack came to town in 3A they used their werewolf memory-sucking mojo to steal Scott’s memories and thus make him more susceptible to Deucalion’s recruitment pitch while everyone else was like nuh-uh, THEY’RE the bad guys.
(Oh and also he did show up in one part I wrote for this Leverage meets Ocean’s Eleven mash-up, with a cast of Scott and the Chimeras. Remember how way back before Eichen House was introduced, Chris made an allusion to there being a werewolf jail they could use to deal with werewolves.....so like, imagine if Chris had caught Scott in S1 but couldn’t justify killing him and then enter werewolf jail and Scott being like mmm, yeah, this isn’t working for me, I’m gonna jailbreak, who wants to come, and then he and random other characters from throughout the series just go around robbing the various douchebags of the series in ways that were mostly just an excuse for me to ‘practice writing action scenes and also heists and also I was bored.’ Also, there’s a distinct presence of multiple unnecessary car chases as apparently most of the times I added to this file came smack dab in the middle of my Fast and the Furious phase. I regret nothing. Also, everything.)
Anyway, as for Beacon Bay, no, Jennifer isn’t a sea witch in it mostly cuz she isn’t in it, as I’d already used her in a few other things and I wanted to give Corrine a whirl as the prime bad guy. So she’s like, an assassin witch for hire. Also, three thousand years old, and as mentioned, like....she’s Circe.
Malia: Ugh, shut up, mom, nobody cares that you’re famous.
Mason (raises hand): I mean, I care, a little bit.
Liam (not helpfully): He asked her for her autograph.
Malia (to Scott): You see? This is why people should have to be over four feet tall to sit at the big kids’ table.
Brett (also not helpfully, but then, he isn’t trying to help, he doesn’t do that): To be fair, Liam’s the only actual Smurf present. Mason’s just Smurf-adjacent.
Mason: *beams*
Liam (staring at him in betrayal): How was that even a compliment? Why are you feeling complimented by that?
Mason: LET. ME. HAVE. THIS.
Anyway Part Two: the Anywayer.....I did not actually ever have any plans to make the Beacon part of Beacon Bay a literal lighthouse, as the town was less a point of interest for other supernatural beings because of Nemeton-type shenanigans, and more just purely because Peter’s a magical artifact oriented klepto who hooked up with Circe and then stole all her shit when sneaking out in the middle of the night and eighteen years later she’s still pissed and Peter’s just not home at the moment. So she’s like, “eh, I guess I could settle for just wiping this entire town off the map in the meanwhile. I needed a new hobby anyway.”
Anywayest, the conclusion: And yes of course it was Scanny. When, where faced with the possibility of Scanny, do I simply...not do the Scanny? Its like you don’t even know me right now.

---
Anniversaries weren’t supposed to start with fights; but yours did. You completely understood why, he wanted to spend the day together. It couldn’t happen; unfortunately the reason that Danny was able to spend all of today with you was also the reason that you were able to get away to execute on your plans, or rather, couldn’t stay with him. Danny had shut his restaurant – he could have taken the day off but no, he’d given everyone a break -  that was just the kind of man he was. You had other ideas. He didn’t like this; and whilst you didn’t really expect him to, you thought Danny might be a little more understanding than the argument you now found yourself in the middle of. “Baby, I’m sorry-!” “Are you kidding!? I’m taking the whole day off from work for this--! The restaurant is CLOSED for you!” for us you mean! But you held your tongue, Danny was hurt, but it really wasn’t your fault – as far as he knew! You tried your best, but placating him wasn’t working; “I know-! I know! And you’ve been excited all week but-” “Can’t you just tell them you can’t do it!” “Danny, if I could, then you know I would!” “This is fucking ridiculous! It’s a Saturday.” “At least it’s not travelling…!” That didn’t help things, and Danny scowled before dragging his cigarette packet off the kitchen table and slamming the balcony door closed behind him. What you had told him this morning was that work needed to pull you in on something. The truth? You were about to meet your parents, Nolan, Danny’s best friends (and coworkers!) Javi & Jason, and your best friends Amanda & Evie down at Viva Caputa and decorate for a ‘surprise’ anniversary party. Surprise only for Danny of course. But right now, you’d be lucky to get him out for it. You sighed gently and followed him outside; “Baby…” touching his shoulder delicately you rubbed soothing circles. When Danny didn’t turn to you, you pulled yourself into him. “Baby, I’m so sorry…” His breathing was deep and Danny took at least three drags of his cigarette before he spoke. “I know. I just can’t believe this is happening today.” “Danny, please look at me?” He turned, and gathered you in his arms, brushing your hair back from your face. He was trying his best not to look super pissed, but you supposed he wasn’t really angry with you. “I’m sorry, baby girl, it’s just… It’s not what I wanted.” “Me either, you know that. God, Danny, I wanna be here with you so bad…” You leant up, brushing your lips to his. He chuckled, deepening your kiss, tasting like smoke. “What if you skipped out?” You raised an eyebrow, hoping that he was joking with you. Danny’s smiled faded, “Right. Okay.” You held him closer running a hand through his tangle of curls, “Just stay here, relax, okay? God knows you deserve it. I’ll pick you up later and we’ll go out for dinner.” “At this place you won’t tell me about.” “Why ruin a good surprise?” You realised the double meaning of your sentence and grinned, “I promise it’ll be worth the wait.” He took a double meaning of his own from that; “OH, I’m assured it will be!” You kissed him once more, “I’ll be back soon, I promise.” “Yeah, yeah! Go on! Leave me!” He might have put on a pout, but you were almost positive that he’d be sulking all day. As you waved goodbye part of you wanted to race back to Danny and tell him everything. You couldn’t. For this to work you couldn’t.   *** You’d hidden your dress of choice and a bunch of decorations in the car, and as you pulled into the parking lot everyone was already waiting for you. “Happy Anniversary!” “Oh no!!” You held your hands up, kissing Nolan gently on the cheek as he came over to help you remove the boxes, “Not when my man isn’t here, and NOT when he’s already pissed at me!” “For what!?” Javi raised an eyebrow “Well I’m at work, as far as he knows.” “That’s typically Danny.” Jason scoffed, “He’ll be fully in love by tonight!” “If he’s not, this Anniversary is gonna turn into a funeral-!” “Yours?” You narrowed your eyes at Jason and had half a mind to slap him, considering his amused little smile, instead just shoving a box into his arms; “No. YOURS!” *** Despite Danny not being here, you made sure to keep messaging him every spare moment you had. Danny wasn’t a texter, but keeping him up to date with what you were up to was important. You called him during your lunchbreak only, he seemed pretty fine – and didn’t complain once, which you thought was good of him. But Danny certainly wasn’t in high spirits; hopefully you could change all that quickly. It was a lot of fun, helping everyone else put up decorations. As you did so they all kept shouting random questions at you about your relationship, wanting you to tell stories and talk to your favourite memories. To which they all added running commentaries or their own anecdotes – either on things Danny had said about you when you weren’t around, or, if they’d been a part of any of the situations, their own personal take on it. Towards the end of your decorating Amanda paused and turned back to you, it dawned on her – much as it had your own mind – what exactly this was for, and yet your participation in it. “Wait, shouldn’t we have been doing this for you!?” You shrugged “No. I mean you could have! But, the amount of stupid surprise parties that Danny has thrown me in here?” You pointed around the room, “That all of you were all in on, I 100% need to throw him one this time! Even if it is for our anniversary…” Then you smiled, “Which uhm, reminds me, I guess I best be saying thank you!!”
On the other side of Miami, Danny Rayburn was growing more and more anxious. It was getting later; about the time you should really be getting home, or at least picking him up. Yet he’d heard nothing, not a text or a call. Danny was ready: nice shirt, smart pants, he even had a jacket. He wasn’t exactly sure where you were taking him, but he could guess that you’d like to sweep him across town and into a 5-star restaurant with views of the Pacific. Danny would roll his eyes and say you were paying too much, and you would smile and say he was worth every cent; and he wouldn’t be ungrateful, Danny would surely enjoy every second of your company. Even more so now he’d been bereft of you all day. Now he was pacing, and sure that you wouldn’t make it - at the rate things were going you definitely wouldn’t be on time! – he’d already had a few cigarettes to attempt to calm himself in vain, Danny didn’t dare have another. Alternating between staring at the door and the phone; which one would alert him first? Turned out it was his phone and as he scrambled to pick it up, Danny was disheartened to find it wasn’t even you on the other end of the line, but his head waiter, Javi: “Danny you need to get down to the restaurant there’s a problem.” If it didn’t sound so urgent Danny would have left a longer pause; what else could possibly go wrong today? He didn’t dare ask that question out loud. “You’re fucking with me right!? I’m waiting to go to my anniversary dinner, everything’s already ruined because my girl got dragged off to work. Now there’s something wrong at my restaurant!?” “Danny we need you!! We NEED you!” Javi did his best to sound panicked, “But she… she’s gotta be on her way back by now… I can’t just drive down to ya!” “Y/N left you for the day man, that’s on her! Just get down here!” Javi shot you an apologetic look but you waved him off. All he had to do was get your partner to his destination, it didn’t matter how. Heck, for leaving Danny all day you probably did deserve some slander. Hopefully it’d all be worth the pain. “Okay. Okay. Just, hold on!”  Danny cut the line, sighing, well this was just GREAT. He scribbled a little note to you, hardly believing that after you left him this morning he was now going to have to apologise for this. In the state he was in though, Danny never stopped to ask the question; If everyone was off for the evening, what was Javi doing at the restaurant in the first place? *** Danny couldn’t pull into his parking space fast enough, Javi’s car was the only other one here (you’d all moved yours into a parking garage to keep from ruining the surprise until the last second.) and yet the restaurant didn’t seem occupied at all. “What the hell?” Danny muttered to himself. Locking his car, he sprinted to Viva Caputa’s front door, wrenching it open as soon as he could get the key in. Stepping inside he peered around in the pitch darkness, reaching for the nearest light switch; “Javi, I swear to GOD-” Danny didn’t get a chance to flip them, as the lights were thrown up from the other end of the room. All your collective friends and your family standing there. “SURPRISE!!” Banners and balloons and streamers decorated nearly every surface, and the more culinary skilled of the little group had clearly been busy at home. He quickly noted signature dishes of both your mother’s and Jason’s. Danny’s mouth opened, but nothing came out. He just stood in stunned silence and shook his head, before his hands came up to his face and his eyes settled on you. No longer in the clothes you’d left in this morning, you’d changed into a gorgeous dress, standing in the centre of the restaurant with a glass of champagne in your hand; “Happy Anniversary Danny!” His hands came away from his mouth; “I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’D PUT ME THROUGH A DAY OF HELL FOR THIS!!” Yet as he laughed and everyone joined in, Danny stepped quickly forwards, throwing his arms around you and pulling you into a tight embrace “THANK YOU!!!” “About time I threw you a surprise party, huh?” “Oh, baby girl…” He placed his forehead to yours, “You didn’t have to!” before kissing you to a room full of cheers. *** Nolan got the music going, a playlist you’d helped him put together, and the party started getting into full flow. Although Danny and yourself were the centre of attention, it was nice to lean back against him as he sat on a bar stool - arm around your waist and drink in his hand - and observe all your friends chatting amongst themselves and having a good time. “Sorry this isn’t the anniversary you expected.” He rubbed his hand over your hip and chuckled; “You don’t need to be sorry, I like this. Right here with the people most important to us...” Danny looked up to you with a smile; “As for this morning, you CAN take me to a 5-star restaurant to make up for it.” You shook your head at his cheekiness, but knew he probably deserved it, as you bent to kiss his forehead, “Okay, baby, it’s a deal!”
With the music up it was no surprise that eventually Danny took your hand and suggested you make your way to the middle of the cleared space. “If you’re gonna stand there in a good dress, and you and Nolan built a playlist, it’d be a shame to waste it!” You couldn’t help but laugh as he pulled you out; “Just be careful, this isn’t a dancefloor in the middle of Little Havana.” “Oh, I think I’ll save that for back home.” You raised your eyebrows, with a small smirk at his suggestion; “That better be a promise, Danny Rayburn.” “Oh, you bet!”
You weren’t sure if shuffle wasn’t working, or the fact that Nolan was smirking and standing relatively close to the music player with Beth, Evie and Amanda had something to do with your realisation that it was slow song after slow song. Probably was your best guess – your friends would certainly love the opportunity to control the playlist. It didn’t matter to either of you; Danny held you strong, one hand in yours and one supporting your waist - everything about it respectful, perhaps even delicate. Danny cared about you more than anything and you knew that; his body close and tight, back sloping to fold into yours; head resting against your own as he spun you slowly around the floor. Every so often you’d catch his smirk as the lights glittered on your ‘D’ pendant - and that look on his face persisted as he continued to hold you. Sometimes you really did love that Danny made it so obvious, and you pushed up against him a little harder just to let him know you knew exactly what he was thinking about. As you did you Danny gave you a little look; ‘I’m trying to be proper here!’ And you laughed, ‘Yeah right!’
Eventually others joined you, your parents, Jason and his wife, and you and Danny even persuaded Javi to stop making eyes at her from across the room, and go drag Amanda onto the dancefloor. When everyone’s eyes weren’t solely on the two of you, you were able to relax a bit; and his hands fell a little lower on your waist as you looped your arms around his neck. You still gave him your best ‘careful’ warning look, yet Danny’s little cheeky smile let you know that he’d heed your words, but only for a time. If he thought that he was going to get away with it, Danny was absolutely gonna get a little inappropriate tonight. It was your anniversary after all!
You were in your own little world, that much was for sure. People were aware of what this meant, and let you have these quiet, private moments together - when all that mattered was each other. Danny grazed his lips to your forehead, and cheek before he chuckled: “You know maybe we aught to stop celebrating every special occasion here.” “You’re the one who doesn’t like taking big days off!” You were specifically referring to Valentine’s Day, but Danny’s look was sharp and you laughed, embarrassed. “Today is hardly the day to complain at me for that. Thank you for the surprise, all the same.” “You’re welcome, you deserve it... Happy Anniversary Danny!” He accepted your kiss with a sweet smile; “Happy Anniversary, baby girl...” You looked around at all your friends but none of them were paying attention, all in worlds of their own too; “Maybe we should make this tradition?” “Oh yeah, gone are the days of good meals out, it’s all about hanging at Viva Caputa!” Although his voice was purely sarcastic, Danny couldn’t help that little smile he flashed “Something like that...” You smiled back, kissing him gently again. Then Danny laughed; “I have to say though, considering your antics you’re lucky we got an anniversary at all-!” “Oh what, c’mon! Danny!” “You just wait until we get home, you’re in BIG trouble.” You weren’t sure you trusted the suggestive look on his face, and you tipped you head curiously. Danny however was under no illusions that you weren’t hopeful; “Good trouble?” “VERY good trouble.”
Danny pulled you into his body, and you locked your arms around his neck as he kissed you. That wasn’t a sweet ‘Happy Anniversary’ kiss, and his hands ran way lower than the respectful line of your waist as he kept you as near to him as possible. That only made you smirk into the kiss as he grazed his tongue over your bottom lip. The dancing had paused; and no wonder. You allowed him what he wanted, Danny hummed in approval as sweet and short became fiery, hungry and passionate. You were in half a mind to ask him to abruptly cut your own party and take you back home right now.
You wouldn’t; because this was just Danny’s way of teasing you. Merely a taste of what was in store when you closed your apartment door to the world tonight and the lights were off.
Very good trouble was damn right. And you couldn’t wait.

Thank you for reading *possibly* the most self indulgent thing I’ve ever written 😅

Fake Out
So yesterday pretty much sucked for me, I had a really bad anxiety attack that shut me down hard. Once I recovered a bit I started browsing tumblr for fluff to make me feel better (who doesn't love fluff??) and someone had reblogged this story on where a girl and her boyfriend started working at the same place, but didn't tell anyone that they were together. The people in the office starting shipping them and they just pretended they weren't dating, it was super cute. And someone asked for a Captain Swan fic, I wish I could find the post again, but it’s lost in my feed somewhere. Anyway I couldn't get this story out of my head so I wrote a Captain Swan Fake not-dating au. It’s not exactly like the story no office setting, but I hope it’s still good!
Summary:
Really Emma couldn’t blame anyone but herself for this. Afterall, she had been the one to insist that they keep things quiet till they knew where they were heading. The only issue now was how to tell her friends they were already dating.

Really Emma couldn’t blame anyone but herself for this. After all, she had been the one to insist that they keep things quiet till they knew where they were heading. Being that all her friends were a bunch of nosy know-it-alls, if they found out she was in a relationship they: would be all over her planning weddings (looking at you Mary Margaret), ask way to many details about her sex life (not that they already didn’t… Ruby), or threatening the man in question with a solid beating if he messed up (David hadn’t learned his lesson from the bruise she gave him after the last one). It could be considered an honest mistake, her friends would not see it that way, but it really could! She never intended to move in with the man after dating him for 6 months, but there she was kissing him and dragging him to the bedroom when he made the offer. And after 9 months she really should have told everyone because this was honestly the happiest she had ever been, and he told her he wanted to meet them too. But the thing is, she wanted the meeting to be special, she wanted to be able to introduce him to her friends as her significant other and have them not go for her throat for keeping if from them for so long! She was still working out the details when it happened.
She was at their usual bar, it was less crowed on a Tuesday night, but everyone seemed to need to blow off steam after stressful work days. Killian was working late anyway and Emma didn’t feel like being alone. She had a water in front of her, but it didn’t even take a drink for Mary Margaret to start talking about setting Emma up so she could have someone to cuddle with at night. All Emma could think about was cuddling up to Killian when she got home, maybe she’d be a little tipsy, she’d run her fingers through his hair and kiss him, maybe start kissing his throat where she could feel him swallow at her advances, he would definitely start to blush. Then her hand could move to those buttons, not enough buttoned yet to many at the same time, once his shirt was unbuttoned she could…
“Emma are you even paying attention?” Mary Margaret snapped her out of her fantasy with a pout. “I just want you to be happy! I know this really sweet guy at work that I think would be perfect for you, his name is Walsh and...”
“Really M’s I promise I am happy! There is nothing to worry about.” Emma was thinking about making an excuse so she could get home to her boyfriend (partner?), was he home from work yet?
“Oh, major hottie alert!” Ruby breathed. “Emma he is totally your type, I’ve seen him around a few times and he is definitely perfect for you.”
Even less in the mood for this nonsense than she was before, Emma was seconds from blurting that she didn’t need a guy because, she had the best one out there already. She wasn’t sure why she turned, but she certainly wasn’t expecting to see Killian there when she did. He had just sat down at a table with one of his friends, Robin she thought, and she couldn’t help but check him out. She’d had the early morning shift at her precinct, which meant leaving before him. He wore a blue button down, which those damn buttons, the top three of which were unbuttoned and showing his dark chest hair. She really wanted to walk over there and just lay one on him, maybe drag him out of the bar and home, hell he was so pretty.
“See, look how into him you are Emma!” Ruby cried, interrupting Emma’s ogling after noticing Emma’s flushed face. “We are totally going to make this happen for you.”
“No Ruby, wait!” Before Emma could get out much of a protest Ruby was up and across the room. She groaned and thumped her head onto the table, how was she going to explain this to them? She felt someone pat her head.
“Don’t worry Emma, we just want what’s best for you. And if it works out you can tell us all about it!” Mary Margaret had a dreamy look on her face, Emma would bet her salary that she was picturing a wedding.
“For the record, some of us don’t want to hear everything.” David interjected, her lieutenant at work and friend outside, he had taken on a brotherly role to Emma. She could always count on him to be there, it was nice to think about how she had made a little family out of these friends, then it only made her feel worse for keeping Killian a secret for so long.
“Emma, this is Killian and he wants to buy you a drink.” Ruby came back, dragging a grinning Killian behind her. “He owns a shipping company with his brother, he has not committed any crimes recently, loves blondes, and thinks you’re the most gorgeous women in the room. Be nice.”
“Pleasure to meet you Emma.” His smooth accent made it very hard for her to not just kiss him right there. “I’ve been wanting to talk to you all night.”
With that Ruby gathered up Mary Margaret and David, moving them to Killian’s former table with his friends. Luckily Killian’s friends knew about Emma, though she hadn’t officially met them yet, and they knew to keep it quiet for now. Emma was speechless, this was the first time they had been so bold in setting her up. Killian sat down across from her, still grinning like an adorable idiot. She knew her friends were watching them closely and she really wasn’t sure how to proceed.
“So love, that’s one way to introduce me to your friends. I have to admit, it is most definitely entertaining in the least.” Emma let out a small laugh at him before taking a quick drink.
“What do we do now? They’ve never actually thrown a guy at me before! And how am I supposed to introduce you to them now?” She was frustrated and amused, and having trouble focusing on much other than his stupid beautiful blue eyes.
“Well now, I suppose we have a few options, you could kiss me right here and now and make a statement. You could invite them over this weekend to our apartment that they still haven’t been to, and introduce me properly. Or, we could have a little fun.” He raised one eyebrow at her, was that a challenge? “That is if you aren’t scared.” Yep, that was a challenge.
“What do you mean have some fun?” She questioned, any prank or joke she played on her friends might make them less mad at her for keeping this from them for so long.
“Well, for the next few weeks we could still keep it a secret, but instead of never running into each other…” He paused and let her follow his train of thought. She smiled as she finished it.
“We could start running into each other everywhere, Ruby and Mary Margaret are more determined for me to ‘settle down’ than I thought. If they see us running into each other and flirting, they’ll try harder to get us together, and maybe, just maybe, they won’t kill me when I tell them we’ve been dating for 9 months?”
“Exactly Swan, though from what I’ve heard, I doubt your David will be as receptive to me anyway. We could have a small dinner, invite your friends and mine, and let them know we’re together? However, if you aren’t ready, Swan, that’s okay. We can wait however long you want.” Her heart had definitely melted into a puddle, she was with the sweetest man alive.
“Let’s do it.”
---
He had kissed her hand when he said goodbye at the bar, leaving her in the capable hands of David to get her back to their place, after all leaving the bar with a stranger when she was out with friends was not something Emma Swan would normally do. He was waiting for her when she did get home, at some point during everything she has been fantasizing about and falling asleep after, she realized that he was her person, her one. She was in this for the long haul, and so was he.
Shopping for girl’s night two days later was their second meet of this ridiculous game. Ruby was demanding they make homemade pizza rolls, and Mary Margaret insisting they needed every kind of chocolate in the candy aisle. Pushing her cart along the dairy aisle looking for the right cheese, she bumped someone hard enough to make them grunt and fall back a few steps.
“I’m so sorry,” She began to exclaim, only to look up and find her blue-eyed boyfriend smiling at her. “Oh you.”
“Emma!” Mary Margaret chastised.
“It’s no problem love. Feel free to crash into me any time.” His wink sent flutters through her.
“Um, Killian right?” Emma fumbled, she was so not good at this acting thing, how had she gone so long without anyone figuring out she was secretly dating someone?
“Aye love, by the uniform I would deduce you are one of Boston’s finest?” Pointing out that she was still wearing her uniform. Luckily, she’d had a change of clothes in the car, but she’d gone straight from work to pick up M’s and Ruby.
“Yeah, I’ve been in it way to long today, polyester is not something I’d wear all day if I had the chance.” Oh hell she was an idiot, is she really talking about fabric materials with him. She’s lucky she already has him, because she cannot flirt worth a damn anymore. By the quirk up in his eyebrow and sparkle in his eye he was enjoying this way too much.
“I assure you love; your discomfort is a cross I’m willing to bear. You do but quite the figure in that uniform.” Why could he still flirt so well? It wasn’t fair that it still affected her so much.
“Sure buddy, well nice to see you. I better get back to shopping.” She rolled her eyes and moved her cart around him, his eyes tracking her all the way.
As soon as she was out of earshot, Ruby and Mary Margaret squealed. Talking about fate and soul mates and all sorts of things that Emma was certain were true with Killian, but she wasn’t about to tell them that yet. Girl’s night was a hit, as usual, they watched corny chick flicks and ate way too much junk food. By the end of the night Emma dragged herself home into bed, she was exhausted. Killian was mostly asleep when she returned, but as soon as she was in bed he turned and pulled her into his arms. Murmuring that he loved her and to get some rest. How was it possible she could be this happy, what were her reasons for keeping him from her friends? She did have to admit this not dating prank was pretty fun. In a few weeks everyone would know and she could hold his hand in public. She fell asleep with that happy thought in her head.
---
The next meeting surprised her, out of every possibility in the world, she would never have seen Killian have a drink with David as one of them. After running home to change, she’d made her way to the bar, a little grumpy that her Friday night date night with Killian had been put on hold, stupid paperwork that needed to be finished. Killian assured her that it would be fine, he had run into an acquaintance and they invited him out for a drink anyway. Nothing he said had prepared her for the sight of him talking and laughing at a table with David of all people. David caught her eye and waved her over.
“Emma! Fancy seeing you here, I believe you remember Killian. The man Ruby not so subtly threw at you the other night.” David was in a good mood, a slight rosy hue to his face tipping her off that he’d a few drinks.
“Right, hi Killian.” She glanced at him. “How did you to end up here?”
“Well Dave here happened to be searching for,” He winced and amended. “Out shopping, when I ran into him. We got to talking and he invited me for a beer.”
“Wow that’s some coincidence.” Killian knew what she was asking, did he purposely run into him.
“I assure you, I never expected I’d see Dave outside of the bar.” His voice was serious and truthful. So much so that she looked at David to make sure he hadn’t caught the tone. He was off in his own world, smiling proudly at nothing.
“Huh, so what were you shopping Killian?” Where could they have run into each other.
“I was looking for a gift for my little niece, she’s turning three soon.” Emma raised her brows at David questioningly now.
“And what were you shopping for David?” She was starting to put the pieces together, Mary Margaret not drinking, the constant need for chocolate.
“I’m gonna be a Dad!” David blurted, then immediately cringed. “Dang it, I wasn’t supposed to say anything, M&M is gonna be so sad.”
His little nickname for her made Emma grin, he only called her that was he was tipsy or drunk.
“Congrats LT,” She patted him on the shoulder. “I’m sure M’s will be to excited that people know to be sad you told anyone; you know she can’t keep a secret anyway. I’m surprised she didn’t say anything at girl’s night.”
“Had to wait for the doctor’s appointment today, I was looking for a stuffed animal to give her as a present after.” He was so sweet; David was going to be a great dad.
“Thought we had to celebrate so Dave and I went out for drinks.” Killian smiled and clapped David on the back.
“He’s not so bad when he’s not being thrown at you.” David declared, finishing off his drink.
“High praise.” Emma commented.
“I should be getting you home to your loving wife David, I’m sure she’s done gushing to her parents and is missing you. I did promise I wouldn’t keep you out to late.” Killian helped David stand, while asking the waitress for a bottle of water for his new friend.
“Emma, you come to, he can take you home too.” David announced with a finality that had Emma snickering.
“Of course, your Majesty, how can I refuse such an offer.” Emma responded graciously.
Killian led David into a cab, Emma following close behind, got in after him then gestured for Emma to get in as well. After rambling off David’s address (it took him a few tries to remember it, but Emma was there to help), David settled back talking about how he was going to be a dad. Emma took a chance that David was not paying attention and leaned a little bit into Kilian’s side. His hand surreptitiously brushed her thigh. There was a tension in the cab Emma was sure David was oblivious too. When the dropped him off, David got out of the car and stared at Killian with narrowed eyes.
“I expect you to be a gentleman in getting her home.” He demanded, still slightly swaying from the drinks.
“I assure you Dave, I am always a gentleman.” Killian responded, crossing his heart with a finger.
The cab moved on, Emma having given the address, and the tension stayed until the end of the street. The moment they turned the corner Killian was pulling her onto his lap and kissing her soundly. They spent the next 10 minutes of the cab ride making out, as soon as the cab stopped, they paid and headed up to their home.
“Always a gentleman huh?” Emma commented. “I guess that means just sleeping tonight.”
“Love, a gentleman simply doesn’t kiss and tell, it doesn’t mean I don’t kiss at all.” He swept her into his arms and headed to the bedroom with her laughter ringing through the hall.
---
The next morning David had called a friend meeting at Granny’s to make the official announcement. Emma kissed Killian on her way out, telling him where she would be. As they ate breakfast and gushed over the news, David commented on how nice Killian was to get both of them home. Emma didn’t have the heart to point out that she hadn’t had a drink and could have easily gotten herself home, that would raise questions that couldn’t be answered by ‘I wanted to make out in a cab with my boyfriend’. Ruby and Mary Margaret were delighted that Emma had seen Killian again.
“He’s becoming a part of the group. It’s only a matter of time before you get together.” Ruby insisted at one point.
So when Killian walked into the diner, all of her friends insisted it was fate and David had even piped in.
“He did get us home Emma, it’s only fair to treat him to lunch to thank him.”
“Well go and ask him David, don’t be shy.” Emma snarked at him, trying to hide her smile. David rolled his eyes and insisted she go and talk to him.
“Hey you.” She walked up to him. He turned and gave her a brilliant grin; he was wearing her favorite leather jacket of his, it was the jacket he had been wearing when she had first kissed him. Grabbing it and hauling him to her lips. She wouldn’t mind a repeat right now, wait no, public, they were in public.
“Swan! Fancy meeting you here love.”
“Yeah listen, my friends figured it was only fair to ask you to lunch since you made sure I got home alright last night.” He raised his brow at that.
“Well don’t stand on ceremony love, no need to use your friends as an excuse when you want to get close to me.” She rolled her eyes.
“So lunch? I know a place by the docks that is great. Jacies Place?” It was a frequent lunch spot of theirs.
“I’ll see you there at 1 then?” At her affirmation, he grabbed his coffee order and kissed her hand before leaving.
Making her way back to her friends, they all demanded details. Once she confirmed lunch with him, Mary Margaret got all weepy eyed. She quickly changed the subject back to the baby, thoughts wandering to her lunch date with her boyfriend later that afternoon.
---
They had developed a habit of running into each other more often that they meant too. Now that they weren’t as concerned with trying not to be seen together, it was much easier to be out and about and simply run into the other. Her friends were now used to seeing him and still insisting he was the one for her, not that she disagreed. Killian flirted with her every chance he got and it only made her love him more. Finally, nearly three months after they started this game, she was ready to make the next step. Their anniversary was coming up in two weeks, and she really wanted to be able to celebrate that out in the open. When she brought up the idea of the dinner party Killian had picked her up and spun her around. He was ready to let the world know he loved Emma Swan, hopefully her friends would let her live long enough to have that happen. Broaching the idea of a dinner at her apartment had been surprisingly easy, they had been dying to see it since she moved in almost 6 months ago, but didn’t want to push her. The date was set for the next Saturday, and Emma went into full panic mode.
Killian had introduced her to his friends officially the week before at Robin’s birthday party. She had gotten along with everyone well, and was praying to any and every god out there that her dinner would go just as well. Of course, Killian hadn’t kept her a secret for a year just never formally introduced her, so they had that going for them at the party at least. Meeting his brother, Liam, had been terrifying, but he wasn’t as scary as Emma had thought. Maybe a bit put out and Killian was ‘her dirty little secret’ as he so eloquently put it, but not mean. Killian had been able to shut that down right away and after bonding with Liam’s wife, Elsa, it was hard for him not to like her anymore. Now she just needed this dinner to go well.
Killian was still in the bedroom getting ready when the doorbell rang. Emma’s heart may have stopped for a moment, but she answered the door and let all three of them in. The oo’d and ah’d over her apartment, set down the food they had brought and settled into the living room to chat while the chicken finished cooking.
“I have to admit, I’m surprised you bought something so big.” Mary Margaret commented. “I would have thought with just you it would be a studio apartment.”
“It just seemed like the perfect place, but there is another reason.” Emma smiled and took a deep breath. “I’ve been meaning to tell you all something…”
Before she could say anything, the bedroom door opened in the hall and footsteps came towards them. She could see the confusion then speculation in her friend’s eye’s, then the shock (David) and excitement (Mary Margaret and Ruby) in their eye’s when Killian rounded the corner.
“I knew it!” Ruby cried, jumping up and down.
“Emma, you didn’t tell us you were together now!” Mary Margaret looked delighted.
“Wait how long has this been going on?” David tried to interrupt, but Ruby and M’s were on a roll.
“I bet it happened after girl’s night.” Ruby declared.
“No definitely after their lunch date!” Mary Margaret corrected.
Emma let them go on a little bit longer then cleared her throat. Killian sat down on the arm of the chair she was sitting in, putting one arm around her shoulders for support. Once she had everyone’s attention she continued.
“There’s something I’ve been keeping from you, and honestly I didn’t mean for it to go on for so long without telling you. I just wanted to be sure there was something there before I said anything, but then I got caught up in everything and time just kept moving. I didn’t want another Neal fiasco, you know? I really wanted to take my time and make sure we worked well together, and I can’t believe I didn’t tell you and I want to apologize because…” She was rambling, she was definitely rambling. Killian squeezed her should to comfort her. Her friends were staring at her confused, though it seemed David was putting the pieces together faster than the other two, a suspicious gleam in his eye giving him away.
“Okay, how long have you two been together.” He asked.
“A Year, well almost a year. It will be a year in two weeks. I mean one week and 3 days really so there’s that. And we are living together, like my lease ended and his did and we moved in together. That happened six months ago, and I really didn’t expect that to happen. I mean I wasn’t going to move in with him after only six months! But then he asked, and how was I supposed to say no? I love him and wanted to be with him all the time, so I said yes. That’s also when I told him I love him, I’m pretty sure he knew way before I did that, I was in love with him. He told me at 3 months, I definitely was counting, and I couldn’t say it back, but then he asked me to move in with him and I said yes and that I loved him. So, we moved in together, and we’re thinking of getting a cat or a dog, still arguing on that. I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you sooner, I was just so nervous, though that’s no excuse. And I’m in love with him and pretty sure that I’m going to be for the rest of my life.” She took a deep breath after she finished, trying to catch her breath. Did she say that all in one breath? Might explain why she could hear her heart beat drumming in her ears. A glance up at Killian calmed her, he was smiling at her so tenderly, love clear in his eyes.
“And I’ll be in love with you for the rest of my live Emma.” He pressed a soft kiss to her head and she turned back to her friends. They all gaped at her, their eyes nearly bugging out. David was the first to recover.
“A year?” He asked slowly. “You’ve been dating a whole year?”
“Eleven months, two weeks and four days.” Killian confirmed.
“How?” Mary Margaret asked, still speechless.
“YOU DIDN’T TELL US?” Ruby practically screamed.
Emma winced, as she opened her mouth to explain she thought it might be better to give them a few more minutes. The oven timer sounded and she rushed up to check on it before Killian could. Dinner was ready. She called for them to eat, once they were seated, she asked what questions they had. They fired them at her as quickly as they could. Why wait so long to tell them? How did they meet? Why did they pretend they hadn’t met at the bar?
“It wasn’t really the plan,” Emma admitted. “I had been planning on sitting you down and telling you, but then you basically threw him at me and he played along, and it was fun. I really didn’t mean to keep it from you for so long.” Ruby stared at her hard.
“You were hoping we would find it funny and be less mad at you for keeping it from us.” She stated. Emma blinked in surprise.
“How did you know?” She questioned.
“Please, I’ve known you for years. I may have been oblivious to you being in a relationship, but that doesn’t mean I can’t see your reasoning.” Emma looked up hopefully.
“You’re not mad?”
“Oh no, we are going to hold this over your head for the rest of time. You can start by hosting girl’s night for the next year at least. We’ll see how it goes from there.” Ruby grinned, Mary Margaret nodded with her, then reached across the table for Emma’s hand.
“And we can admit that maybe we pushed a little bit harder than we should have on the whole relationship thing.” Mary Margaret acknowledged.
“We really are happy for you, Emma.”
Killian smiled at her, and she smiled back, everything was perfect now.
“I am too.”

fanfic asks: ... all of them? :D
:D *does a little jig* GLADLY!!!! THANK U MINT :) <3333
1. If you’re an author, how many WIPs do you currently have? (Be honest!)
Oh god, I genuinely have no idea. I write everything on tumblr and draft them if they don’t get finished, and I know that I have to have at least 40 or 50 wips in my drafts,,,, I’d try to count them all but it sounds too tedious right now LMAO
2. What’s next on your ‘to-read’ list? (Fan fiction or otherwise)
Cinder by Marissa Meyer! I meant to read it this past week, but I never got around to it and now it’s just sitting next to my laptop,,,, but I’ve been meaning to read that series for awhile so!! I’d like to read it next! :) In terms of fanfiction, I don’t have anything on my to-read list right now except maybe rereading an Alex-centric fic I really liked on AO3!
3. Do you prefer canonverse or AUs?
AUs!!!!! There’s just so much more you can do with them imo! I love canonverse too, but as a writer and a reader, I’d go for an AU any day
4. What fandom’s/ship’s fan fiction do you read the most?
The most fic I’ve ever read was for the Miraculous Ladybug fandom! Most of it was Love Square fic, but I also read every Alyanette fic at one point. I’ve read a few fics from Lovestruck, and for those I mostly stuck with Astoria, specifically Alex and Medusa fics. I’ll read for other ships too, though!
5. What’s a crackship you love?
defgrthytgredsfrgtrfedefrgfdsfrgtedrt Master Fu x Principal Damocles is the only crakship in my heart...... Fucles for life..........
6. What’s the last thing you read that made you laugh?
Oh jeez, I read a Miraculous Ladybug fic the other day that made me laugh pretty hard! Mostly because I had. No idea what was happening in it. But it still made me laugh, which I appreciate :D
7. What’s the last thing you read that made you cry?
:^^^^^) am I allowed to say my own writing because I was makin myself cry last night-- if not though, the last thing I read that made me cry would have to be one of @seduceme-lovestruck-thearcana‘s fics. Not sure of a specific one,, but damn if I don’t get emotional
8. Bed sharing or roommates AU?
ROOMMATES AU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bed sharing is great (i love it!) but the shenanigans that can be had in a roommates au??? Too good to pass up
9. Fake dating or arranged marriage?
Fake dating, definitely!!!! I’ll never get tired of that trope and how absolutely ridiculous it is :’)
10. Mutual pining or enemies to friends to lovers?
Ohhhhh no, oh how cruel a question this is. This is so hard because i love both so so so so so much hghngnhhhh BUT!!!!! I’ll choose mutual pining bc i’m weak..
11. Kid fic or childhood friends?
Childhood friends all the way!!!! That’s my favorite trope of all time, I think
12. Friends with benefits or secret dating?
Secret dating! I don’t really get friends with benefits personally, so secret dating would be more my speed
13. Exes or established relationship?
Established relationship!!!! Although exes are very good for angst >3c
14. (For authors) Post a line of dialogue from one of your WIPs without context.
Oh boy, okay! i know it says a line of dialogue but here’s just. a snippet from something:
Sorrow bleeds out of her with ever shuddering breath, and their heart breaks with her.
“I’m so sorry,” they whisper, shaking their head. “If only we’d- if only I’d-”
“Please don’t.” Her voice is quiet, little. So unlike how it used to be. She manages to lift her gaze from the floor to look them in the eyes, and they can see how deep her pain is. “I don’t regret it.”
15. Post the last line you wrote without context.
“They say it every morning, and every morning it hurts the same.”
16. Describe your WIP that currently has the highest word count.
I don’t wanna scroll through my drafts looking for my longer WIPS, so the most recent one that’s longest is at about 1.6k right now! I don’t think I’m even near halfway done, probably not even a quarter :0c
17. Describe a fic that is still in the ‘ideas’ stage.
My popstar!Alex au!!! I’m still figuring out all the details to make it come together, but essentially it’s an AU where instead of working at HERA, Alex decided to follow their mother into the world of music, and they become a famous popstar. But when something supernatural (a god? monster? titan? idk!) starts to threaten and sabotage Alex, they’re assigned a few agents of HERA to protect them- one of which is MC, their childhood best friend and freshly promoted field agent.
18. Do you have a fic reading/writing routine?
oh gods no
19. What’s your favorite character headcanon?
In general my favorite headcanon for any character is to headcanon them as ace and/or demi :)
20. Do you have a favorite fanfic or author? If so, tag them/post a link and share the love!
I don’t have one single favorite author, I love so many of them hhhh...... I’m not sure I could pick out a favorite fanfic either, there’s just been so many good ones I’ve read over the years :’)
