No but I have some more to add to these thoughts. They’re on a brand-new network and acting like this is the first season, so they are going to be trying to set things up for a brand-new audience to not only keep their old fans but to attract new ones. And we know going into this new season, that Eddie and Buck are supposed to be in different relationships. So now would be the best time to either come to a conclusion on what they need to do. If they really don’t want new fans to jump on the Buddie train, then they should work on distancing, the Buckley Diaz family so that to the new fans, it’s more believable that Eddie is going to end up with anyone but Buck. But to have them purposefully give us a conflict within the Buckley Diaz boys which can possibly prove to the new viewers what an integral role Buck plays in Eddie and Christopher’s lives is a big, bold choice. They are literally going to set up Eddie‘s new relationship to fail so that even the new viewers can quickly realise that those three boys are meant to be a family together. And since we only have a 10 episode season, this gives the showrunner, and the writers enough time to not only attract new fans and get them on board to the possibility of Buddie but to then set it up so perfectly for them to get together next season and have their longtime fans finally get what they’ve been wanting for years.

I think we always need to remember that CoM came out in 2004 and how absolutely off the wall insane it is that they got away with the subtext that they did. Especially considering it was Disney. It’s also just. Extremely clever? In the way it uses the subtext and red herrings? The red herrings being necessary to get past the censors yet baking them into the story as part of the mystery like I dont quite know how to explain it but CoM and the way the series depicts Sora’s queer experience is real to me because of the fact that it had to hide it and couch it in confusion- because I feel like that mirrors my and many other queer kids’ experiences of that generation?

Anyway I don’t know what I’m saying I just want people to remember that it wasn’t that long ago that making queer stories explicit especially in kid friendly media was basically impossible for creators and they did the best they could to slip in whatever they could get away with.

Today’s rambling thoughts about my specialest boy: Wind Waker Link

First off, at least in Wind Waker alone, the kid does not steal anything (barring swiping things off monsters but seeing as those drops would happen anyway…). Sure he definitely… receives some stolen property. But he does not rob anyone. He actually stops at least one burglary in the course of the game.

The worst he does is break some pots, which every Link does. Notably though, he PAYS FOR IT WHEN ASKED. By a guy who is a full floor away, whom he could easily outrun. But he pays!

Next, this kid was raised by his sweet old grandma, and clearly is very protective of his little sister. He’s such a sweet kid his grandma is worried literally sick about his welfare while he’s away with pirates. He stops dealing with the giant curse overwhelming the ocean to help her recover. We know he cares about Aryll. That’s literally what kicks off the whole plot.

Where am I going with this? Oh right.

Even though he sails, and he hangs out with pirates, Link just. Isn’t one. He isn’t the type to raid and pillage. He’s not going to kidnap or hold for ransom. If anything, it makes me love the dynamic with Tetra even more: she’s the one who would fight dirty and jumped Ganondorf while he was distracted in the Forsaken Fortress, while Link is so ridiculously honorable he doesn’t try to fight the guy who kidnapped his sister and his friend until the other guy initiates it.

Link may say he’s a pirate, but he’s a pirate like a little kid playing pirate. He’s acting tough. In the War of Eras he literally keeps his little sister on the phone (pirate charm) the whole time. He’s a ferocious fighter, but he’s still a sweet kid. He still cares about others. That’s part of why I think Linebeck eventually warms to him, because he’s just so sincere, so honest, actually the opposite of a real pirate.

I know “Wind Waker Link is a big swearing pirate swaggerer” is a popular characterization, but honestly this kid gives off the most wholesome vibes out of any Link. He’s the sunshine child that has a bunch of dangerous friends who will cut you if you try to hurt him. Yes he can kill you, I mean he shoved a sword into a man’s face, but to protect his home. And he didn’t care about Ganondorf after, he was too busy trying to reach the King. He was still the same kind kid.

When people say that Mary is manipulative it makes me pause a little

Did she ask Arthur multiple times for help? Yeah. Did she ask him specifically cause of his skill set and his relationship with her? Of course. Do I think it was malicious? Absolutely not!! Mary is a flawed character just like everyone else in the story. She loved Arthur sure, but he’s an outlaw, being with him would ultimately put herself and her younger brother in danger. She is hyper aware of that. It makes sense that she has complicated feelings towards him and feels like because of their history she can still call upon him to help

Arthur is manipulated by many characters in the story who are far worse than Mary (DUTCH). Arthur loved her, and in Saint Denis he wanted to go with her, she wanted to run away with him. There was no manipulation there, if Arthur didn’t feel this great responsibility towards the gang, if he wasn’t so deep into the cult like following of Dutch, I think he would’ve gone

Idk the amount of discourse and hatred when it comes to the very few important women in rdr makes me angry. Wether it’s saying Mary is manipulative, Sadie is annoying, or villainizing abigail for her past prostitution, it all feels very wrapped up in misogyny

I’m getting more worried about how percy is supposed to fight that person on the beach (no spoilers) at the end of the lightning thief.

Don’t get me wrong, I really love the percy jackson series and the focus on the various relationship dynamics etc but I am slightly disappointed with the fight scenes. They are so short, and percy can maybe get one or two swings in at best. His fight scene with the ares cabin and clarisse showed a bit of his natural ability but I feel like we haven’t really seen that again since?

And in the books, (from what I remember) percy had good natural instincts when it came to sword fighting during his lessons with luke etc. I’m not expecting him to be amazing at it, or anything like how he fights in the later books, but I would like to see some of his natural ability to fight. He’s still a powerful demigod even though he doesn’t know how to use his skills just yet.

I’m just worried we are going to get to the beach scene in the series and it’s gonna play out like the books but will feel strange and like a big jump in his skill level or that they’re going to change that scene so that it makes more sense with show percy

Wanna talk about the fact that even though the dsmp has a lot of story to it, to me it still feels very…stale? Empty because if you know the plot points you don’t need to know much more and I think the problem is, is that no one realises you can literally just expand on the world if you want. It doesn’t have to only consist of those 30 players, give it life, people who we see momentary but still give some warmth to the story. People who give us more insight to how a character would treat someone they don’t have history with.

And the fact we can work with magic in our stories, it’s literally canon. think of all the Minecraft mechanics and go haywire with it, twist and turn them to be more creative. Even if it’s just a little moment.

My brain is obsessed with the idea of c!Quackity leaving his car on a sunny evening, citizens rushing about some walking with fitted suits a mind at work and some loitering around the office building. Visiting his favourite dinner after work, not his own but one ran by a small but warm family who treat him as their own. Sometimes he walks home, taking the more denser part of the city to visit the local markets, check in on the woman who kisses his forehead and scolds him for being out so late as if he was her child. C!tommy and C!Tubbo stumbling into farmers land and being rushed off. C!Tubbo asking mechanics for scrap to work on his projects. C!Tommy annoying a school teacher late so he can borrow her art supplies. Him climbing walls of more fancy estates, being offered help with his farm by an old lady. Young children aweing at the main server, people brought there for school trips. Whispers aimed toward C!Wilbur if he’s recognised, him messing with waiters,stealing uniform to blend in. You’ve got high stress scenes where he’s trying to not get caught rushing down the halls though the employees have been alerted of him. Him employing a random guy for a good second, whispering his plan while the dude mindlessly agrees because he doesn’t wanna be late for his mother’s dinner.C!Niki walking through a market area, polite greetings as she passes through her city. THERES SO MUCH YOU CAN JUST WRITE!!!

It’s not even the fact I find the relationships in the dsmp boring but the small random relationships/interactions can push a story forward, make it more fun to write.

I think dsmp writers forget that you can keep it canon compliant but still have fun with it. It’s Minecraft, minecraft roleplay- just have fun with it.

I’ve never posted about any of the lore around sleep token because I never dove really deep into it. But lately I keep thinking—

Sleep is always depicted as super scary and draining vessel of the life inside him, but I kinda like the mental image that Sleep is a peaceful god. One who offered vessel peace and safety. So vessel willingly serves him as a thank you. Because Sleep just wants to offer him the chance to rest. Hence the name.

Part of what made me think about this was the conversation voiceovers at the shows. Sleep was the one telling Vessel - it’s alright man, they don’t want you to cry. It’s almost like the lyrics are sometimes so brutal cause he’s just helping Vessel work through the pain so the man can finally be at rest.

I’m not sure exactly how to word this but ya know what I mean??

So my key takeaway was that we’re getting some good Buckley Diaz family angst/hurt/comfort right before the 100th episode. They’re going to give us those three acting like a whole ass family unit before the 100th episode. And sure that can mean nothing or it can mean everything. All this during a season in which both men may or may not be in relationships with other women??? We’re choosing to focus on Buck, Eddie, & Christopher being their own family unit thus cementing the fact that no one can ever shake that dynamic up??? Hm I’d say some interesting choices were definitely being made. Maybe the best IS yet to come??

Thinking about Keith being a martyr again. Most of his life he relied completely on himself, and when he found people that cared about him he lost them. With Shiro he found a brother, but Shiro kept disappearing, and then he came back different. Almost like a different person.

Keith was alone in the Blade, he thought Voltron didn’t need him. And if no one needed him no one could possibly want him around. He’s a tool in his own mind. A defender, a fighter. He does what he needs to in order to keep the war efforts alive, and doesn’t regard himself as anything more than a piece on a chessboard.

So he risks his life when he doesn’t have to. He trains excessively. He doesn’t try to make friends, cause to him this isn’t something that’s going to last. If any of them survive he’s just going to go back to his shack, maybe spend some time with Shiro or Adam if they all live through this. But ultimately, Keith doesn’t think he’s going to survive the war, and he can’t think of a brighter future than dying on the battlefield.

Naxzela should’ve been a wake up call, something to remind him that he is still alive. But no one ever brought it up.

He’s been a martyr since the beginning. And I think about that a lot
